Used to be good but ...
This app served me well until a week ago. I'm now getting the following error when I try to search the internet for an item picture:
"Request failed: forbidden 403 error"
I emailed support 2 days ago and have heard nothing so far.
The app is on an iPhone 6s. I also had it on an iPad mini 4 with the same issue until 3 days ago. I tried to remove and reinstall it, thinking that might fix the issue, but I keep getting a message in the App Store saying the app is "installed" although it isn't. What's going on?
Good concept, crappy execution
The app constantly freezes, does not let you switch store info, and drains the battery life in your phone.
Share the item picture with all account's members
It makes no sense to me that when I add a custom item and take the time to find the picture I want for reference, other members can't see the picture from their devices. Why would I have to add it separately in each phone? That's what the "share" portion is supposed to do. Add it in one phone, have it in all phones. Please fix this. Thank you.

UPDATE: Like another reviewer said, my emails are never answered anymore. This app has turned into a cooking show! All of the updates fix recipe this and recipe that. What about updates to shopping functionality?? What about more accurate ways to characterize Quantity and Unit?? MANY items come in multi-packs, especially at Costco!
This is definitely the most useful shopping app out there--believe me, I've looked. That said, what a waste of potential! I look day after day for updates; other apps are updated multiple times in the same period. So many features that could put this app in a class by itself! I hope that the developers will take note and add features--big and small--and fix bugs.
Please fix: Add a picture
I really like this app, but I've run into a few glitches since the last update, such as the "add a picture" function. Please fix -Thank you
Extremely disappointed with this, I've had the app for over 4 yrs switched phones and had to purchase the full version. Then a new update signs me out and says my account no longer exist. Definitely not paying again.
Since you don't respond to my emails anymore, I'm doing it this way. The clipping feature has been broken since last fall. It won't work with Yummly. I downloaded GroceryKing to save time, not make more work for myself. You assured me last fall that you would fix it but since then you've ignored every single time I've contacted you. My guess is that you don't plan on fixing it. I will change my review if and once this is fixed. If you don't fix it, I'll have no choice but to delete the app.
Lots of potential and a few flaws.
Constant crashes. Can no longer access recipes without crashing.
They seem to have abandoned this app. No updates in months. It's by no means perfect. Could use some updating.
I paid the $12 for the app. It's strong on shopping and inventory management. I can keep separate lists for each store. Then I can rearrange the shopping aisles to match the layout of each store, I can enter prices for each store. Then it will do a price comparison for each store. You can track coupons etc.
I find recipe management almost unusable. First of all, the ingredients show up sorted by category or alphabetically, not in recipe order.
Second, you can only add an ingredient to a recipe one time. This becomes a problem during recipe import. If you have a long recipe that has sections like Cake, Filling, Frosting etc, then it will only show the last entry for an ingredient. Say your cake calls for 1 1/2 cups of sugar and the icing calls for another 1/2 cup of sugar. All you will see is the 1/2 cup of sugar.
Third, the app is not at all intuitive when it comes to ingredients. If you have an ingredient named EGGS and you import a recipe calling for one EGG, it creates a new ingredient called EGG rather than selecting EGGS. This rather defeats the purpose of the inventory tracker. I have a dozen EGGS in stock but no EGG. This is a problem because there is a status indicator on each recipe showing how many ingredients are in stock for a recipe at any time. So you cannot rely on this indicator.
Fourth, you cannot add your own units of measure.
They are completely unresponsive to support requests.
Would I recommend this product? Not really. If you want a solidly functioning recipe/inventory/menu/shopping app, try Meal Board. It is best I have tried so far. Grocery King has potential to surpass it. I hope GK will mature and reach its full potential, but it's not quite there.
updates are few and far between
Best Grocery and stock List app
By Sunny Lang
I just bought it and used it for a week and love it ever since. With $12.99 a year but worthy every penny for saving time to writing down the shopping list daily.
I have evaluated roughly twenty IOS Grocery Apps, and so far,
this is categorically the easiest and well thought-out 2 use. Its attractive, well-designed, includes the total, tax, quantity, priority, size, coupons, discounts & notes option for each item. Would like the ability to include a set budget, one for food (EBT) and one for non-foods (cash) & the option to exclude food from being taxable when I set the tax rate on whole. My only setback for upgrading is having to pay annually. The extra features are well worth it, but the free version is sufficient for broke folk like me. So far, the best Grocery App by far. Well worth the cost.
I expected to be able to do more.
Without signing up and paying for it you can only have 15 things on a list. I figured no big deal I will just have multiple lists. Turns out you can only have 3 lists. Not to mention the other potentially useful tools in this app. None that you can use without paying.
