ITranslate Translator Comments & Reviews 2026

I can’t even 🤦🏾‍♀️🤯. Ok, look /listen...When I first got this app I thought it would be amazing and such a big help, and the possibility using it on my Apple Watch was a bonus; I was really looking forward to paying for it after my trial, buuut then I started getting wrong translations all over the place. I want to know who is providing the translations for these words...cause this is nonsense. I’m learning Korean and it kind of defeats the purpose of having a translator app, that provides the WRONG translations a lot of the time; I stopped using google translate for that same reason. I get tired of having to look up the word online just to get the correct meaning, it’s frustrating. When I look up words in the translator I am not typing in American letters, I am typing in 한글 (Hangul), just to make sure that I get the correct translation. I have even provided the corrected translations for some of the words I have looked up through the app, and surprise, surprise they are STILL wrong and haven’t been corrected; why have “wrong?” A feature in the app if you are not going to take advantage of it, and correct what is effectively wrong...SMH. Either way my money will stay in my pocket when it comes to even thinking about purchasing this app 🙅🏾‍♀️. Move on there’s nothing to see here.

Good idea, needs polish. So a couple of things I immediately noticed. The iMessage app keyboard is broken. You can’t type alternate characters (like “ç”) because the menu disappears when you move your finger to select them. It works if you install the actual iMessage keyboard, but not in the iMessage app. I would really like to have the 3D touch cursor control enabled in the keyboard (firm press turns keyboard area into trackpad to move cursor in text field). I speak english and the person I use this with speaks Portuguese. A lot of her messages to me are mixed language. If she sends me one that starts in English and then ends in Portuguese, then the copied message button performs an english->portuguese translation, which means I get no help from it. It would help to be able to reverse the translation direction so that the part I need translated actually translates.

Easy to use and HELPFUL. I don’t speak Spanish at all but met a Latino guy who needed help taking some classes at the community college I work at. We only used the free part and within two minutes of us opening it we were communicating, not just talking. We were able to ask each other any questions we had and give detailed answers. Think about that...this app allowed me, an English speaker to help a Spanish speaking man come up with a plan to get him an education and improve his life. The look on his face as it became clear that this app worked and he wasn’t going to have to struggle to find the words to say what he wanted and try to understand the answers he was getting...within a few minutes!!!! This man came in knowing it was going to be difficult to get the info he needed but he didn’t care because an education was that important to him. He left and his feet barely touched the ground because this app put the American Dream within his reach and as an American who was able to help him take the first steps towards that I couldn’t be more proud!!!! So in case you are wondering I give this app ten million stars👌🌈🌈🌈.

Camera translates into gibberish. I got the pro trial to see if it would be at all useful to translate printed Japanese from a page into English. I was not expecting a perfect translation by any means , far from it, but what you get is completely useless gibberish. Also, it does not allow you to first isolate which sentence you wish to translate so you have to wait till it fails miserably, often choking on too much text and just spitting back the Japanese text untranslated. Japanese is written vertically but the focus window cannot be made narrow enough to isolate a single sentence. It struggles translating 2-3 sentences often failing and just repeating the same word many times. After an hour of failures just canceled the trial, not up to the task. I have limited ability to read some Japanese and it was not even succeeding to translate some words and numbers I could recognize. Pathetic.

keep it easy. i love how easy it is to just tap on either language to back and forth if you’re using with someone who speaks the other language. i use it for work all the time. huge help! keep it easy guys!!! one thought, if it’s possible, idk if you guys are based in the US but i know here in chicago it’s a lot of people use it back and forth for spanish and english. but we often get stuck on slang (from both languages). and for me, im american english first language learned spanish at the age of 39! but there are english slang terms that are very common and im learning the same in spanish. is there anyway to include more slang terms? tbh i’d be willing to pay a one time fee to get a “full” or “pro” version or whatever, that included things like this. im sure you don’t need my help, but if you want, me and my mexican wife can give you a lot of useful examples.. anyway thanks for reading. thanks for the app!

Easy to use with a simple format.. I have spoken to many friends using various languages on this app and usually when using translation online or on other apps a lot of times the person im talking to doesn’t understand some words but on this app I haven’t had that issue once. I see people saying it’s a scam, how? It gives you the option to pay for the full version of the app but if you don’t want to you can simply click the X button on the too right and enjoy the free version which does pretty much anything you need to begin with. I rarely write reviews on applications but I give credit when it’s due and especially for this app because I have family and friends all around the world. Thank you for creating this app!

A Very Good Language Tool. I use this app a great deal, at least once a week, most the time way more. With social media I find people from all over the world posting content from other countries. People from other countries sending messages in their native language. I come across something written in another language I’m not familiar with. This app helps me a lot, without spending so much time trying to learn the languages. This app helps me figure things out quickly, and move on. I’ve actually written long letters in French to some people. They seem to understand what I’m wiring. No one ever tells me I miss spelled anything. And no one ever tells me I used the wrong word, or said something wrong. I don’t even know what I’m doing. Then when the people write me back, this app helps me figure out what they wrote me. This app translates every word I want to say, or read. I copy paste away in both directions; depending on whether I want to compose, or read in another language. It takes a little thinking sometimes, this app does most the work. Try this app out to close the communication gap with different languages.

Conflicted Feelings. I would like to start this review by saying that the idea is really great. I would totally subscribe for the verb conjugations and the layout is very clean. However I noticed another review noting that the Korean translations are incorrect, something I also noticed when using the app. 갈게 does not translate to “LL” at all. 徒然 didn’t even have a translation and was just romanized in English to “Tozenn” which is an incorrect romanization... Although I do see the option to input correct translations if they are wrong and I am not a developer, I feel that if you are trying to get people to use this as a translating app, you might want to hold off on some languages until they are fully developed and correct. As for the people who are saying iTranslate “automatically charges” and that the developer is accusing users of lying, I understand where you come from. But most apps do the same thing, advertising a free trial. They will charge you after the free trial, which I think is wrong and should be verified with the user before they assume you bought the PRO version, but you can always say you do not want to start a free trial. It’s a good idea to read everything before you just click next.

Bugs and Annoying. It’s glitchy and buggy. I use the app a lot. After the most recent updates there are several bugs. For example, when you hit translate it just shows a blank translation below. But you can copy and paste the blank space. Then other times, when you see the translation, if you try to click the translation or copy it, it won’t let you and pushes you to the original English message I had typed. When I emailed the app, they responded by saying they couldn’t replicate the issue and that I needed to update the app. There was no other update, I restarted, uninstalled, re-downloaded etc and still have the same issues. It was buggy on both iPhone 13 and 14 Now every time I use the app, it prompts me for a review. When you hit the (it could be better button) it asks you to contact the app instead of giving a review. It literally spams me every other time I hit translate to give a review after I’ve already responded. It has made me want to throw my phone more than once.

Autocorrect is horrid, Learn to use it before you need it. I got this app for a trip to a Spanish-speaking country where I would be offline for a lot of the time. It absolutely sucked because it would auto correct both what I spoke and what I typed to something that was NOT correct. It was worthless. I couldn’t find anywhere to turn autocorrect off. I’m giving it two stars because when I physically typed the words and made sure it did not auto correct, it worked fine. But this took a lot longer than using voice to text. And it was incredibly cumbersome to try to give these instructions to the other person that I was trying to communicate with. Also, it did not come with instructions to explain how to use it. It was somewhat intuitive with practice, so make sure you practice before you need it.

Fantastic. I do not understand all of the negative reviews. Translating any language perfectly requires near mastery of the language so take the time to learn whichever one or more languages you choose. In the meantime I challenge you to find a better app than this one. I have used it throughout Europe and it has been invaluable well beyond the $40 I spent to upgrade to the pro version. Translating restaurant menus was worth that price alone. The app continues to evolve and improve. Tens of thousands of people are using the app. I don't find the responses to complaints caustic but merely informative. Don't let the negative reviews prevent a purchase that can be very valuable. And if you want to use a free trial it may make sense to have a need for the program during that time period to fully test it. And no I do not work for the company, only a happy customer that is realistic and understands limitations of any language program. I think translating "get a life" from English to any language might miss the intended meaning.

Great fluent intigration!. I would love to give this amazing app a 5 star review. The fact that it auto translates what you type pretty accurately compare-able to fluent speakers of translated language. I’m also very fond of the bubble that pops up when you copy text. Not having to leave the app to open another app just to do the translation, makes having conversations in two languages much smoother and fluid. However the reason I am doing s 4 star is because I’m currently experiencing a bug that I hope to bring light too or find out if it’s something that is being targeted currently. When you type too fast on the keyboard it will crash and reload the original Apple keyboard. It freezes as you type quite often as well. Again great app but just this one thing for now!

Not free, planned obsolescence. You cannot use the app unless you subscribe, and get 7 days before you get charged. After reading the reviews & more importantly the responses from the developer, it is obvious that there is not much in the way of quality control, as in every response I read, the developer blames the user or device for the problem. This is no doubt possible, it is highly unlikely that it is every cause, not to mention the bait & switch of being a free download, but not a free app, I suspect a lot of the reviews are fake, & the app is crap because the problems people have are the same issues, & the developer always blames the user. That is seems to sink of planned obsolescence. Developers respond with a cut & paste of, “The free version is free & the pro version is paid”...this is completely true. So I will revise, there are no available translation features in the free version, you have to pay for that. In the free version, the only feature is seeing what you may be able to translate if you pay, just hope it is correct/works. DO NOT BOTHER

Never got to use it. I really dislike apps that puts such a huge wall around their features they want you to pay before you get to use them. They make it seem like they are such gold you can’t even taste without paying. People don’t pay until they’re hooked they need to get you hooked on it first. And this apps’ metric for measuring use in order to get you hooked is very weakly implemented. I signed up for the free trial when I downloaded the app so that I could use the features but I did not need them at the time so I never used the app until the trial expired. So in the end I never even tried it one time. That is a really dumb trial. The app needs to measure the use of the app and give you a trial based on actual use not some finite amount of time. Especially when translation is something you use when you need it not just on demand when the app tells you to use it. You don’t have something to translate until you have something you need translated! Bad design when it comes to trial. Focus more on user experience. Sadly I can’t even use the app so what can I do? Uninstall

Used to love it Now ads are ruining it.. Brief review-- This translate app was always fantastic. Little by little my free version has been adding more and more ads. I fully support the need for ads, and usually get the paid version when I can. Tonight was the last straw and I've deleted the app. I'm trying to look up a simple phrase, lying beside my mate, who is fast asleep, and suddenly (without warning or giving me any choice , a LOUD video ad starts blaring. I nearly jumped out of my skin. No more iTranslate for me... It'll have to be Google for me. Sad to have to leave, but I *never* want that to happen again. Update: Developer says more ads isn't true, but... I haven’t tried reinstalling, but I have to tell you that the kicker for me was this: I was using iTranslate while lying up in bed with my partner fast asleep next to me… SUDDENLY and very loud and jarring there was a VIDEO ad… which made me jump out of my skin… and woke my partner. I have NEVER before seen a video ad in your app. Ever. So, you may not have increased the occurrence of ads, but this (video ads) is most definitely new to me - and I’ve had your app for years. Was it just my luck that this never occurred before? And I think you folks need to fix those videos so users have an option to mute. Until I know that this could never happen again, I don’t think I’ll be using iTranslate. It really was rather dramatic.

Not too accurate.... I may not be fluent in too many languages, though I do know enough to get through small talk. It seems pretty difficult to find a good online translator that can actually distinguish the usage of nouns and conjugations in actual conversation or even just sentence usage. These apps need to reprogrammed by those who are fluent in these languages to properly give those of us still learning a better understanding of how to say what we wish to say. I tested some things I know in languages such as German, Gaelic, Italian, and even Latin to see just how accurate this and other apps are and so far they are to quite a degree incorrect. These apps seem too focused on a literal dictionary translation instead of how the words are actually formed together in a true spoken sentence. I’d like to be able to better use this app to translate phrases and conversation I don’t yet know so hopefully sometime soon the administration of this app catch on to the lack of real life accuracy and fix this.

Used to be a great Application.... It’s so sad to see how this app has gone downhill when it used to be fantastic. They now charge an exorbitant amount comparatively (4.99 per month), and compared to other services it’s just not worth it. Not only that, but “updates” have mislead many subscribers to sign up for a paid account, when it looks like a normal update, I’m surprised Apple hasn’t put a stop to that? Also, many mistakes in translations can be found, and if you read replies from other users, you will see that this company either expects its users to find and fix its own software issues, and/or rudely denies complaints, and calls people liars. Also, adds that used to be silent banners are now frequent, loud and disruptive; especially when you are trying to concentrate on translating. Also, now that I’ve read how poorly this company has been treating other people with critiques is honestly shocking! I’m not sure if this app is under new ownership or management, but it’s not something I want to rely on with all the incorrect translations, newly added loud commercials and combative and disrespectful treatment of subscribers. After having this app for years, I’m now of to find something better. Too bad.

Spanish translations not always correct. I took Spanish at one of the number one language schools in the world, but had not used my Spanish for many years. Occasionally I check my words if I’m not sure. Multiple times the word that was translated did not seem correct to me, so I would go to 2 other translation Apps, & BOTH had the same translations, but yours was WAY OFF. I LOVE your site, but many times I double check your translation. I am advanced in Spanish, but when you have not used the Spanish in years, YOU FORGET!! I sent a text to a friend, & I used a word that you translated. I was told IMMEDIATELY, the translation was INCORRECT. This was from a teacher who TAUGHT Spanish. I know enough Spanish to know, if the translation just does not seem correct to me.

In Japan. I was excited to get the app initially. It did help make some translations. I translated a few phrases (while on WiFi) and screenshot the display so that it could be used as we were out. Of course the issue was that I could not predict what conversations would come about. So I did the trial for “Off-Line” Translations. When I used it out and off line, the Japanese did not understand it; could not read it, and expressed “it made no sense”. Therefore, the off-line version did NOT work. As I used the same pre-recorded phases (when in WiFi) there was no problem. The Japanese laughed as they understood my punchlines effortlessly. Another issue was that the app did NOT recognize Japanese symbols. It displays that it only works when on WiFi- and yet when I used it; still no progress. Surely it was a let down for I needed it the most. Gotta cancel this app as soon as I get back home. It helped, but did not perform as designed.

It doesn't translate everything. I am frustrated, I put a word in English and it gives me back the exact same word in Spanish. One specific example from a moment ago - I put in lackey, and I know it is a Latin based word so I'm looking for the Spanish version, mostly the spelling, because again, I know the root is the same. It should give me lacayo but it just shows me lackey. I hit the reverse button cause sometimes it sort of works like kicking a machine, to jolt it and it actually works. So I reverse the translation back and forth (which I shouldn't have to do in the first place) and sometimes that works, but with way too many words it seems to know less Spanish than I do. For very simple things it is fine, but for me, trying to learn Spanish to a level similar to my English proficiency, it doesn't work well at all.

Excellent App. Update to Review: this app was super handy in eastern Canada, especially Quebec. Grocery shopping would have been a big adventure winging it on my own! We used this app all over southwestern France which is way more rural and has fewer people that speak English! we were able to travel on our own without a tour service or a tour guide. we didn’t have too many barriers language wise. The few times we had an issue was pronunciation. Those times we were in a situation where we could not play the audible of what one of us was trying to say. For that $20 per year charge for verbal translation and being able to take a photo of something to translate, it can’t be beat! Because we cannot always play the sound, it would really be nice if there was a phonetic pronunciation included. I grew up speaking Spanish and tended to lapse into a Spanish pronunciation to an unfamiliar French word when I could not hear it or see how to pronounce it!

Not What I Expected. I downloaded this app because I read that it can be integrated with iMessages so I figured it would make things easier for me to translate languages directly from the iMessage app instead of copying and pasting into a separate translation app or website however, that is not the case. Yes, this app is integrated with iMessages and allows YOUR message to be easily translated within the iMessage app before sending but when someone responds to you in a language you wish to translate you will still have to copy and paste to know what they are saying, and you can do that for free with Google Translate instead of $4.99 a month. Suggestion: It would be better if the app was designed to automatically translate the other person’s text message without having to copy/paste or click on a bunch of buttons that apparently don’t work (the chat bubble button on bottom of keyboard).

100% positive feedback!. Wow. I have yet to try all of the features. It isn’t that the features are not beneficial... I am currently working to increase screen time (yes, increase). I didn’t like translation apps because of the undesired results. I guess this would be something I’ll just state vaguely because I’d rather be doing something else but I encourage anyone interested in translation apps to try this one and buy the pro in-app version. That will make all of the apps in the bundle available with pro features. The user interface is simple, elegant and easy to use. The experience started out being very satisfied and continues to fuel the thirst for knowledge and provide the perfect amount of pleasure to be very ally with the product and want even more. I just found more so I’m going back in to nerdify my life. More is more.

Very helpful app. I used this app while visiting Colombia a few months ago. I was able to have a conversation with several people who spoke no English just by passing my phone around and letting it do the talking. I used it to read menus in restaurants, to order room service, and to give directions to taxi drivers. The people I interacted with really appreciated my attempts at communicating with them in their language, and it was so much easier to understand directions after they appeared in writing, rather than trying to keep up with rapid fire Spanish. Best of all, I could keep a record of the conversation for reference. No more, “here’s the church where we are supposed to turn, but I forgot whether she said to turn left or right”.

So easy to use!. I love iTranslate and use it frequently! My sister-in-law is Italian and I am American. She speaks and writes in English without issue, but most of her family and friends back home don't speak or write in English or feel more comfortable in Italian. iTranslate helps me understand Facebook comments about my sister-in-law or niece that I would otherwise be unable to read/translate (my Italian isn't that advanced). It also allows me to look at foreign websites and translate from the source language into English. My parents enjoy international travel and like to stay in small bed and breakfast type places instead of large multi-national hotel chains. Often these small B&B's website doesn't have an English version, so iTranslate comes to the rescue! I usually know what language I am translating from, but from time to time I will want to translate a tweet or FB comment that is written in a language I don't recognize. When that happens, it definitely comes in handy that iTranslate has the "Detect Language" function and can automatically translate it to English or another language of your choosing. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND using iTranslate!

LOVED this app initially & would have paid for it, BUT.... Initially this app would have gotten 5 stars. It beat google translate and a tu ally did a decent job translating English to German & vise versa; especially for a free app. But of late the app consistently crashes immediately after is finishes the cycle of translation; and before I have time to even verify it’s accuracy so not sure if it’s still as correct as it used to be I read in a some reviews that it isn’t anymore; i.e. Korean for example, but I wouldn’t know since it keeps crashing. Wrote to Support and will see what happens. Also asked me to upgrade which I strongly considered but not with some of the small print in permissions. Beware that it requires access to any past translations as well & beware that anything you type it paste into it to translate will be accessed by this app; so you might wish to leave out financial or sensitive Information, etc.; like if you’re translating a contract. Also, the premium (paid) version price tag seems rather steep to a lot of the reviewers here as well as to me the way it is organized now. I’d say it’s a bit of “carrot” app; “Lookie what I got here! Okay now come and get it!” ...Once you start chasing it, it eludes you. ... If they make improvements and adjustments, I’ll alter my review, but for I’ll say, sadly, I’d pass!

Auto translation too fast. I’ve used this app daily for two years and have derived an enormous amount of benefit from it. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in furthering their study of or maintaining proficiency in a foreign language. There is, however, one major problem with it: Don’t take a breath or pause to think, even for a moment, or it will cut you off like a dispossessed heir and start translating. The interruptions become frustrating beyond one’s limit of patience and severely limit it’s usefulness as a translation tool when traveling. Retarding the speed of the auto translation setting doesn’t extend the amount of time significantly enough to make a real difference. If this problem were rectified, it would be, in my opinion, a five star app. The voices are clear, it recognizes a significant amount of idioms and seldom used words and it is generally very user friendly.

Add more languages please.. i have a Peruvian related family where my mother and I has a similar bloodline to them. there was a Facebook post my cousin made and she’s Peruvian. So I end up using Mexican language to translate but I couldn’t find her language 😟. Instead I brought myself to the usual Mexican translation. I wanted to comment on her but I want to make sure I’m fluent in their language so they can understand. So, I typed my words to translation of what I wanted to comment, which is a little joke. So I thought it could go well! WRONG. my mother had told me that the comment came out as an insult, not a joke. I tried to say it the way I want it to be said but instead I had to go back to her post and delete my comment. ☹️ Mainly it was my fault, I wish to respect your app but I am really disappointed that this app does not have any additional Hispanic languages. Not saying this app is uncultured, but I would wish more for it to adapt to change. I’m just saying.

Conflicting Translations. I purchased this app because I’m traveling Latin America for the next 6 months and was looking to use this as a tool while I’m learning Spanish. The voice recognition is frustrating, it takes a few tries to recognize the correct thing being said for English and Spanish. It also gives a different translation when spoken vs typed even though the spoken words show up exactly as typed. Unfortunately I didn’t notice these errors during the week trial period and when I reached out to the developer they responded with rudeness and was very argumentative. They said that someone would need to speak punctuations for it to translate properly. This is absurd. I have found another app that functions with accuracy when one is in a real life conversation. I’m ticked that I wasted $50 bucks on this crap and trying to figure out how to get a refund is proving to be worse than unraveling a spiderweb. Do NOT waste your money!

Hi!. Just to let you know I gave 7/11 an angry complaint earlier. (It might seem irrelevant but it’s not)However I’m in a better mood and I’d just like to state lightly that constantly asking how everything is, is seriously annoying. I wanted to subscribe to this app and your people told me to ask apple wallet why my card is failing to verify, which really is too bad. Maybe take security down a notch. Quit trying to reassure that your not getting ripped off. $40 might seem cheap and reasonable but in reality it’s a little steep considering your program is basic. Have an easy day I know you will you probably make twice what I do, and I build houses. Ridiculous…

I can't change the source language on the Apple Watch app and it only works from English to others.. Greetings dear Developers, hope you're having a great time. This is a great translator app. The Apple Watch app is awesome. I'm learning German and a dictionary or a translator app on my Apple Watch is very useful. The translator almost works like Google Translate and the speech of the translated sentence sounds very good on the Apple Watch app. (I used it to translate from English to German on my Apple Watch Series 1, then I pressed the speech button and the sound quality and even the accent were awesome and far more than what I expected.) The only problem with this app on Apple Watch is it only translates from English to other languages. I tried to change its settings on Apple Watch but unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to change the source language and I can only change the destination language. For example, I want to translate something from German to English on the Apple Watch app but I can only translate it from English to German. Please fix this issue on the Apple Watch app. Thank you very much and I hope you have a great time.

Used to be good but isn’t anymore. They used to have a format at least as recently as 2019 that was good, but they ruined it. More like 2016. it’s just not useful anymore they want you to pay for all these extra features that I don’t need and that I don’t want, and if you don’t buy them they’re going to spam you with full screen ads the whole time. It used to do a good job of translating but it seems like the translation algorithm has really taken a turn for the worst. I used to be able to supplement that by translating it back-and-forth a lot of times until the results kept on coming out the same, that way I knew that I was saying something for sure that was correct. But they don’t let you do that anymore, it’s not easy anymore because they changed the ergonomics. nobody wants Disney to be in charge of their iPhone anyway!

Fair at best. The app is good for some things. I do love the verb conjugations and the ease of use. The problem is the translations are inconsistent often literally word translations vs concept or translations of simple phrases. As much as I want to like this app, I can never trust it and ALWAYS have to go to a second app to verify. For example today I came across the word “sobrecargos” in the phrase “la amabilidad de los sobrecargos”. Your app translated that as “overcharges” even in translating the entire phrase. Since “the kindness of the overcharges” (the translation provided by iTranslate) didn’t make sense I knew there had to be another definition. I had to go to another app to get the phrase “the kindness of the flight attendants”. To check if this was an extremely obscure definition I googled sobrecargos and all of top hits were regarding flight attendants. This occurs so often that I cannot trust iTranslate translations on their own. MOST of the time it’s fine but sometimes it can be catastrophic, so I ALWAYS double check in another app.

Interesting.... The app is of great value and allows for practice for those who put in the time reading, saying, and listening. I like having access to the phrasebook necessity of languages. Traveling, class, and communicating personably or professional with this app is a plus. In writing this it was now time to pay monthly again, not having realizing 30 days had past. I had not used the app yet, but tested to see if it updated. The price it worth it depending upon usage. I did think 4.99 per month was pricey. Again usage determines the price. For me, based upon my usage I may subscribe periodically throughout the year, realizing the initial update fee was not for the entirety or year. The app is a “diamond in the rough”, when you are somewhere needing to access the necessities within the ventures of travel.

Japanese Polite vs Plain Forms. It’s a good app, but as a Japanese student, I speak and write primarily in the “ます“ form, which is polite. However, this app can only accurately translate the plain form of Japanese, making it incredibly difficult to check my sentences before sending emails to professors and mentors in Japan. For example, if I write even the simplest of sentences such as, “私はよくこどもをてつだいます“ it translates to “I often play children”, which isn’t accurate at all. I am simply stating I HELP children (or I will help), but in the polite form using “ます“. This app is perfect for plain form Japanese, but that’s unfortunately not something that I use very often. The vocab is also strange. “みる“ meaning “to watch” translates as “I’ll watch” because, again, the app is assuming I’m using plain form instead of just recognizing it as an un-conjugated verb. Hope these issues can be fixed and there will one day be a feature to switch between plain and polite forms!

It will help you get by.... Please note, I’m asking a lot from it. American living in Germany and using it in/for a German language course. My wife is German and also a English and German teacher. It’s been pointed out on more than one occasion “that doesn’t mean (xyz) at all...” when using or quoting this app. If you’re using it just to get around for a vacation, sure. Plus (at least in Germany) they’re very polite and (almost) everyone speaks English so they won’t point out this app has missed the mark. If you just want to find a the bathroom or get food and a beer, I’ve used a free app that is a lot better for communicating. (if this is now free absolutely download it, but if not...). Remember I need to know “Wie spät ist es?”- is not - “what time is it” (the app translation) but what it truly says which is “How late is it?” so... For when you’re listening to someone speak or building sentences on your own later you’ll think wie means “what” and spät means time (what/was - time/zeit). It’s not always wrong, but it’s not always 100% right for everyday/conversational usage. If you do download, remember wie may not be what.

Relatively good translations, very annoying popups. I have paid for a pro version ($70/yr), and have used it to translate single words and short sentences between Spanish and English and vice versa. It is very easy to reverse the source and target, and the material to be translated can be entered either via a keyboard, or via the phone’s microphone. Most of the translations were good, but a nontrivial number of words were useless repetitions of the source words (requiring a Google search). I also had a need to reach their tech support. My email was sent over a weekend, to which their Bot responded with useless information, but a live person responded the first thing of a first working day, and followed up. My biggest displeasure with the program is that, since I cancelled automatic renewal of the yearly subscription through the Apple iCloud service, the app keeps popping up with a question why I cancelled (mind you, I have almost the full year remaining for the service), very often when I need a quick translation. I find it so frustrating, that I would cancel the service if I still could, and might explore that option with Apple. It’s a pity, as otherwise it could be a useful aid.

Duolingo holds my attention better than any program I have tried. I like the interactive lessons. I also like the graded repetition. I have been doing daily lessons for 2 1/2 years and just recently upgraded to Duolingo Plus. It is nice not having to watch ads or worry about having to refill my hearts if I make too many mistake or typos. I do all of my lessons on my iPhone so typos and auto correct are a common source of errors. I don’t always catch errors if I am in a hurry. I have seen a lot of improvement in the program in the 2 1/2 years that I have been using it. I love the stories, but I have finished all of them. I’m looking forward to more. Keep up the good work Duolingo Team!

Very Good App.. I’ve used this app quite a lot now, maybe a little expensive, but it’s worth the price to me. I just pay monthly so I can stop when I don’t need it. I translate French which I’m learning (very slowly) and Filipino called Tagalog which only translates in written form not speaking sounds. I give it 5 stars ‘cause it’s worth it to me. Maybe it’s not perfect, but it’s one heck of a lot better than nothing. I’m not sure, but I would say it’s probably the best translator available. I’ve used a couple of others a long time ago and they were not near this good. Most people who give this one a low star rating are probably low star themselves! I talked to a woman over 20 years ago that was working on this very thing, well, machine translation at the University of Illinois. I think it’s very difficult so many variables.

Why pay for what I had for free?. I loved this app & used it for what seemed like aeons, it was the perfect app for communicating with out of country family & friends. Sometimes just to remind me of a word or grammar in a language I know but had forgotten. Now I just got a new phone, & iTranslate didn’t come over from the old phone. So here I go, downloading the very app I had (I know…it has the cloud!), only when I opened it, it straight away came up with subscribe for $70/year. For the “free” trial, it’s $7. I can’t even open the bloody thing without shelling out $$$ !!! That’s what affected my rating score. I would have rated this app 5 stars if it weren’t for that blasted money issue! I’m an old lady with very little money (too much month for the money), & I can’t afford a subscription. Guess I go to another translation app that I wasn’t impressed with ::sigh: Developers, please tell me there is still a free, tho limited, version, & how to get past the “we want money” page to access it.

No way to cancel the free trial. I thought this would be good I was going to have somebody have a foreign language working at my house and thought this might be handy and I download the app which meant I was obligated for it did not realize I couldn’t get out of this once I clicked on the free trial And the very same day I contacted through this app and they gave me a list of instructions to do and the fifth one said if none of these work then you’ve already been canceled! But never did get confirmation of this and low and behold they have charged my credit card, so now I have to file a dispute and wait for them and I guess my beef is actually with Apple not with these people but why can’t I reach these people to cancel the order! So unless you want to lifetime subscription or cancel your credit card which I’m gonna have to do,,,Think twice before you hit the button otherwise I think the app is pretty cool

I thought it was going to be for free but you have to pay!!. So, when I got this app I really wanted to understand what other people were saying about because I’m still learning how to understand them so then when this app came up I was like oh ok so this is going to be for free but no I was wrong you literally HAVE TO PAY JUST FOR A TRANSLATOR LIKE when don’t come here just to waste our money on a app like we just spending it on useless stuff and we all thinking that we need to understand people if they speak a different language and I’m trying so hard to learn Korean in Spanish right now, but I can’t because of these payment you have to do just for and I think this needs to be removed because this is why people is and complain about you have to pay so this needs to be fixed in every app and every translating app

HORRIBLE AND UNUSABLE for Chinese and Japanese. Tried both taking pictures of text or straight translating text and this app has been worthless. It translated “six hundred and thirty two” to “632”, which is very helpful when I’m trying to listen a specific number get called. The image translation also makes no sense. The text bubbles will cover eachother with no way to focus on specific lines of text. It will also combine text that were separate from each other in the picture to one nonsensical bubble. It’ll also repeat words randomly - for example I’ll take a picture of a menu and the translation bubble will just say “porkporkporkporkporkporkporkpork” for a single line of text where pork was only written once. Got the pro version without trialing first, which was my own fault. I thought a translation app with a rating of 4.7 with 500k reviews would actually be usable for two very common languages, guess not.

Fantastic for learning a language or simply trying to make sense of one.. ITranslate works rather intuitively, allowing users the ability to detect languages and toggle back and forth between multiple languages while working to make sense of another language. Additionally, ITranslate’s features lend themselves to a wealth of opportunity for self learning and discovery, as when translating words, you are able to explore multiple languages, learning the vocabulary, as well as the pronunciations. Ultimately, the app is loaded with so many features and interesting options, that at times, you almost feel as though you are cheating! All said, ITranslate is a fantastic find for anyone curious about communicating with others. A+

I half accidentally paid for this app. Truly I wanted to forget to cancel it because I I really want to learn Spanish and other languages. Omg. Just now I’ve finally let go of the guilt of spending the money, plus so much has been happening lately, stopping to learn anything new has been a luxury. So I just now checked out the features of this app. Omg. Lol. It’s pretty much amazing. I just found one feature where I can speak to my phone in English, and then press play it will translate to whomever in idk, 30 languages? Not sure how many the speaking feature covers. Taking pictures of objects, besides it being useful to learn new languages is honestly just really fun, to see how well it can guess what’s in the picture from the limited area of space you’ve given it. Now that I’ve reallly looked, I’m thinking I might pay for it again when the year runs out. I have not checked with native Spanish speakers or anyone else to verify the translations are perfectly accurate. I will do that. But so far this thing is amazing. I’ve been sitting here at the gas station not getting gas for an hour playing with it.

Ok for speaking, terrible to picture translation. We purchased this app for our trip to Greece and while the voice and text/typing translation work well the camera did not work at all. I’m disappointed because we bought it for that feature and it doesn’t work as it should. Every menu, every ticket, every sign refused to translate from Greek to English. I tried multiple signs and menus all with the same result. I’m not sure how this could resolved but at least for Greek, don’t use the camera function. I will say the speaking translator worked well and so did the text/typing if you have the Greek keyboard installed on your phone. If you don’t that the language specific keyboard installed then the app also doesn’t work with text/typing. The phrase book was also useful if you needed it.

pretty solid translator...but could use some tweaking. The app is pretty good. I haven’t seen any bugs or significant negative points. The interface is neat and easy to navigate. There’s no ads at the bottom of the screen but the pop-up ads could be less. Instead of pop-up ads, place the ads on the Phrasebook tab as an “Additional features” kinda promo section. It can still be seen but it’s not an interference that’s shoved into your face while you’re in the middle of typing a sentence. Also, an option to make a personalized added phrases list in the Phrasebook tab would be great. I have commonly used phrases that I’m sure are different from others’ commonly used phrases. Being able to have those ready at hand will save time and efficiency, which are important when you’re lost or confused or need to give directions immediately.

Amazing app. I speak multiple languages and dabble in others. I love in miami where Spanish might as well be the official language and I use this app on a regular basis. I use it while traveling abroad (like in my recent trip to italy or Greece) and even when I am home in the states watching american or foreign tv shows (like K-dramas) for random translations of phrases used on tv. It not only translates but also has an option to allow the app to speak in the foreign language in case you are concerned about your pronunciation. With romance languages, the pronunciation isn’t usually that hard but when you start to get into languages with different alphabets, I am often at a loss as to pronunciation. This app comes to the rescue over and over. This app ranks among my top apps and is on my first page of apps on my phone. I truly can’t live without it.

Using while in Nicaragua. The voice feature is a great addition to have as a communication tool (only when there is no background sound), its easier than typing. I have yet to use the other features but knowing I have them if I need them, its comforting. I am determined to learn Spanish as quicly as possible. Although I have not looked for any potential learning features available with the app, I think assisted learning features like phrases I use most often might be useful. Sometimes a slight misspelled word, a word that is used but the app doesnt recognize it, and when it offers random incorrect words that seem simple, is the only critique. Many random words come up and not the right option a little too often. Also the prompt notifications asking me how i like it, wont stop. Please help. Thank you, dc_creative

A great translator. I am from the U.S. Living in Quebec Canada and have the need to use this app constantly. I have used it for over a year now and it is by far the best that I have found so far.......and I have tried many. For the most part, I have found it to be fast, efficient, and accurate. It's not perfect because of the difficulty in communicating ones exact thoughts to another vocally, let alone expecting an app to do it, but it does a very good job and I highly recommend it to everyone, especially to those who are struggling with the French language. I believe the developers listen to the users suggestions and are constantly working on, developing, and upgrading the app to be even more accurate and efficient. I give it the full five stars.

Cannot cancel Subscription - THE CANCEL BUTTON IS MISSING. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE. I use the trial and after the trial I CANNOT cancel the subscription. There is no option to cancel the subscription on iTunes. Instead there is only options to extend the subscription. Not sure what is going on. Unless you want to subscribe for the app forever...DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!!!! No help from the app developers as well. They blame it on Apple!! And where does apple stand?! So unless you are sure you want this FOREVER do not subscribe and DO try the fake trial!!

Very good but it could be better. The only issue is that the app doesn’t have the option to pick male or female vocabulary. The app immediately translates into male vocabulary and that’s not a good thing when you’re trying to give the respect to someone who you don’t know…

Terrible, terrible update. Up until the last update this app was quite good, but now the translation from Serbian to English is completely incorrect. After I suspected a couple of translations to be incorrect I tried to test the translator with some basic vocabulary and the results were incoherent at best. Often the result of a basic word translated from Serbian to English would be a made up word that doesn’t exist in the English language or just a random bunch of letters. Please fix!!!

It works.. Been using this app through France, Belgium, Germany and now Austria. Yea I know Germany and Austria are pretty much the same. The best feature is the ability to scan text and objects with the iPhone camera and get a translation. I’ve used this function primarily on restaurant menus and rail tickets. It’s saved me significant hassles. You always get a more positive response when travelling if you at least attempt to speak their language even if it’s just the niceties. Happy travelling and translating.

:). I love this app but the one thing that I think could be improved is to not need to be on wifi when using iTranslate because not everyone has wifi or internet and wants to learn another language in a really simple way. But still I rate this app a 5/5 because it is easy to use and has any language you want to translate to, I also like how you can listen on how the word is pronounced and spelt.

Review. I can’t say I am proficient at Spanish; but all the basics? I learnt mostly from this Ap. Be warned this Ap will teach you Spanish from Spain; but there are many words that have developed in the Latin America’s; that are unique from Country to Country. Having said that; the Spanish you learn from this Ap is fairly accurate. Have Fun!

Frequently bad translations.. Frequently gives a bad, Anastasia or even offensive translations when going from English to Russian and Ukrainian. Often provides gibberish when translating from Russian and Ukrainian to English. Might be good in other languages, but Russian and Ukrainian is not only poor, but a serious problem when offending people you are trying to communicate with.

Great app. I recently had trouble getting past the try the Pro/ or 7 day trial version. Sent emails but no solution. I gave it a poor review. By chance I opened it, started tapping on the screen and a tap in the top right corner. And suddenly it open to the translate screen with all my history. So in short it’s a great app to use.

Really bad voice translate. Recording cut out before you finished speaking. Not even better than a free option like Google Translate. Beware of fake review bots, they will report 1-star reviews to keep their high rating.

Good but.... It works well and it’s really simple to use but the annoying part is I can’t translate from the other language. I can translate from English to Dutch but I can’t go from Dutch to English it’s quite frustrating when I’m reading different text and wanting to translate it to English. Maybe I just can’t figure it out. I’m talking about the Apple Watch app but the phone works fine.

A most useful app indeed.. We love the flexibility of the iTranslate app. We have several friends and also relatives in a number of European countries and this app is a magnificent tool to help in reading or writing some simple, but tricky expressions from English to a number of languages and vice versa. It certainly is very useful when using some expressions in English which do not have a direct translation to other languages (or vice-versa). At least we can see the effects of an expression in the destination language. Since using the app only occasionally I am very happy what it can do and in our situation the upgrade to the pro version at a monthly cost would not be beneficial. However for students or people who have to read/write often in different languages this upgrade would be very beneficial and I suggest go ahead and purchase it.

Great app. I enjoy using this app. It is easy to use and also has sound so that you can hear how to pronounce the words. I find it very helpful for my French homework. You can choose from Multiple language combinations, which is great for travel. It makes life easier. And I find it more actuate than some of the others I have used. Good work

I’m confused... So, I got this app because I wanted to see if I could fool around with my friends and translate my text into different languages, but whenever I do ‘full access’ it freezes my iPad and I can’t move anything. I keep trying and trying again but it never works. I don’t know if this is just my iPad that doing that or it’s the app, but if it’s just my iPad being weird then I’m really sorry!! Could you help please?

Voice translation is actually good. The translator is excellent and helps a lot with identifying errors within writing and translations. First I used to think that the female voice was too mono tone but it actually helps to try and make the text sound better

Chinese translation very poor. Very frustrating trying to communicate to my friends family in China, the translation is never correct and messages from them when I translate it to English is completely wrong. I try just to send a few words at a time which does help but still not correct and mostly the message doesn’t make sense. I know it’s a very hard language to translate into English but even so I wished it translated better than it does. The app is easy to use.

Consistently incorrect. I initially thought the app was good but upon translating from English to Thai and then checking by going back to English the translation, literally 9/10 times is wrong and doesn’t make sense. In an earlier reply to somebody with the same issue it mentioned to forward the issue. To do that every time you translate is ridiculous imo. How can you have a conversation when you have to double check everything you write then forward it every time it’s wrong. App needs A LOT of work ! No good

They have the right idea. It’s okay, the idea is great but it’s almost like the app is incomplete. It would be good for people who want to learn the languages that they already have on the app but I want to learn 3 languages (Twi, Samoan and Maori). They don’t have Twi or Samoan, at all. They have Maori but they don’t have the voice recordings of the words to help with pronunciation for this particular language. I feel it would be so much better and worth the money if it had a lot more language variety and voice recordings for every language. Unfortunately I will be deleting the app after my free trial as this app does not cater for the languages I would prefer to learn.

Missing a vital ingredient. A good translator but missing the mark ...when it translates it should also show the translated message in the original language on screen..this is especially critical for languages that don’t use the English alphabet...For instance when I translate English to Japanese it shows the translated message in Japanese kanji, whereas it should use the English alphabet ...it’s no good to me as I cant read kanji and I suspect many non Japanese can’t either....same for Chinese translations....the translated message needs to be in English so it can be read by the user...otherwise the printed translation is useless.

Looks promising. I only just got it and I’m loving it, mainly using Croatian for myself, and Filipino for my girlfriend’s family. Also I was just curious if in future updates you get audio for more languages, because I’d love to have audio response from Croatian and Filipino. Thanks for a great app!

Boring and useless. I have downloaded this game on the Wednesday, and I have tried it on in times on Chinese, and it is not working, I have tried every single word that I could think of at that very moment, but it just came up with the same English words into different language and I even wrote Japanese numbers and translate it to English, but still it didn’t do anything. I hope you can fix it and I hope you can make people pay less. And I am really sick and tired of all the really cool and decorated and interesting games being really expensive, and it makes us not want to play it and even deleted because we can’t do nothing with it except do the things you don’t have to pay for which are mostly boring. Please make at least this game more cooler and cheaper, And I will write a review with five stars for saying how good this game has upgraded and how much I really enjoyed, and lastly what what other bugs I have. Thanks a bundle creators for making this game and if possible, fixing my bugs. Peace out ✌🏼

Refund. Hi, I would like a full refund please, after I downloaded the app, I haven’t got time to use it. Now my bill is coming In already. I don’t think I am use it as much as other people do. I still don’t know how to unsubscribe the app, when tapped on subscriptions it came out with a special offer $1.49 a month, and under it have a manage subscriptions button, but when I tapped on it, it took me to error web site which I can’t do anything there. Can someone help me unsubscribe it, send me a link or something, so I can just tap on the unsubscriptions button, then that would stop the app charging me any money. I deleted the app already after I can’t do anything there.

Bugs and poor design. I have been a $99 subscriber and two months into my second year but am uninstalling and returning to Google Translate. Numerous problems: - offline translation: when selected, automatically clears the text you wrote (but could not translate because you had no internet coverage). Can still find in history but frustrating that simply switching from Online to offline deletes text - deleting text: last two months, randomly clears all the text you are writing (as if you ‘selected all’ then deleted all the text as you typed the next letter) - has not gone despite reinstalling app and even resetting phone - no instant camera translation like Google Translate - constant pop up: every couple of days asks if I love app or want to give feedback. Gave feedback but then still continues to pop up, which is annoying. After the tenth time, the developers should stop pop ups, as this just invites negative reviews

The German/English Translations are accurate. This app works as expected. Occasionally something is mis- translated but most of the time it’s quite good, especially for a free app. Requires interior free version. I often use voice to text to translate something quickly. No super-annoying ads, just a little something once in awhile, but you don’t have to watch any videos. Of course the paid version is without ads.

Instantly charges you 100 dollars and does not even work. Instantly charged you 100 dollars once you open the app to secure your “free trial”. Hot tip guys, according to the ACCC it is NOT a free trial if your required to put in payment details! Anyway, tried translating selecting auto detect language and it detected Chinese text as Spanish. Than once using manual translation and selecting Chinese it translates Chinese into completely broken English in a manor impossible to understand! 100 bucks and it does not work, and charges you for a “free trial”. If that’s not the definition of a scam than nothing is! Welcome to the reason why I never download apps.

Translating different languages is new to me. I’m easy to know and spell lots of English language and a little bit of Aboriginal language. I find it hard to know and spell every other language at first and now I get use to know and spell every other language.

Pretty Good!. I’ve been using this App occasionally for some years now, and have found it to be pretty good. It sometimes struggles to auto-identify the language and in these cases I try my best guesses manually. In particular, I haven’t figured out how to enter the Romanised Japanese language. If it can translate that then 5 stars.

AVOID - WORST THAN EVER BEFORE!. 99% of translations are wrong ! And you expect anyone to pay for this?? Lots of times doesn’t even translate anything, it just gives you the same word as the original typed! You asked to get in touch and send you screenshots... After 3 dozens of them sent, I gave up, ‘ cause you never replied and never fixed this app ‘cause you couldn’t care less ! Just updated to latest version and all translators, all of them, doesn’t even attempt to translate - it simply gives the same word result, as the original one imputed :( As per your request, I emailed you dozens of screenshots, but you seemed to ignore all, as you’ve done nothing to improve anything!? To make things even worst, it seems to carry a bug as a lot of times it gives a duplicate result, i.e. - hello hello, lemon lemon, here here... Other times, after typing a word and clicking to Translate, it automatically swaps the languages, I’m trying to translate From & To, so the results are, well, duplicated and so, so wrong!!

Always been the best product for languages. Rosetta Stone is full immersion and has been the since I began using their original cd version . It’s truly the quickest way to learn an language. Unlike other programmes, they have all the elements of connecting verbal audio and comprehension into the simple steps a baby would first learn anything. It’s a win win on all fronts. Downfall: No monthly payment subscription:

Itranslate. This is my favorite app. I use it several times a week. It's a great way to check words and word order. It's important to use other sources alongside it though. It's a fantastic tool for me while trying to learn French!

ITranslate not opening. I have had this app for many years and has always worked well for me. Today I tried to open the app and it won’t start. I have re-started my phone, updated the app and deleted and reloaded the app to no avail. Is there anything else I can do?

A Must have world traveller communicator. Very useful app for travelling around the world! Used it in many countries. Currently in Sri Lanka now and have set the language to Sinhalese, which translate fine, but only in their script which I can’t read and can only show the local people here. I was hoping to be able to read it myself and not look rude. But at least we can communicate when needed if they don’t already speak English. Thanks!

Stop with the subscription. Another app that has gone from incredibly useful to money-grab subscription-based. The features I use to use for free travelling a few years ago - now have to be paid for, which makes sense if it was an actual upgrade, but its the same framework, just with a price tag now. Augmented reality is definitely a great plus and reason for increasing price, but making something that set you apart from the start and was free from the start, now making it a periodic cost, it’s a bit slimy. Sorry guys, switching to Apple’s translate app ☹️ - it does the same + a little more for free now.

Best app. I give this app a five star because it’s only 3 simple steps first step is you tap on your language that you want to translate to then second step you type what you want it to translate third step you read out what it has translated. I’ve been waiting all my life for this app and it’s finally come true thank you

Excellent!. I am an absolute beginner in learning to speak French and this app is amazing! It's very user friendly and I just love using it! I would have no hesitation in recommending iTranslate to anyone who is learning another language. I'd be lost without it. It's my 'go to' app for help and for 'listening' to and practicing the pronunciations. Merci beaucoup iTranslate!

Very good app. I recently used your app in Japan and South Korea and it was very good particularly using the voice recordings to ask questions etc. however I am now back home and don’t require the app and cancelled it however you are still charging me for your weekly fee. I no longer have your app on my phone so Please advise how to stop these payments. Thanks

Unhelpful auto function. This used to be a great app. The recent auto-translate function is just annoying. I start to type a word or phrase and before I’ve completed it, the partial word is translated and then wiped as the app thinks I’m starting a new word. For example, I try and type ‘medications’, but when I get to ‘medicatio’ it auto translates as Italian then wipes and I’m left typing ‘ns’. Please remove the autofunction, pressing the return key worked fine.

Free version of this app not useful. I tried this app on my old iPad 4. It could only work for typed text. All other aspects of this app requires lots of $ to work. There are lots of free translation apps which work way better with speech and images captured as well as text. As I need for a short time during overseas travel, it's not useful to spend $s for occasional use. Even after recent update, this app is only limited to text translation. Any other option leads to purchasing pro version. I am going to delete this app and recommend not worth trying on IOS 10.

Translate. To all the people who translate. My wife’s family comes from Vietnam and the mother Inlaw doesn’t speak any English. For many years I have tried to use different translators to communicate with her and the translation was always wrong. I found a way to fix this problem. Many languages don’t have ( is, at, the and many more). This sounds silly but try and talk like you are talking to a child. Make the conversation quick and short. Don’t use big complex words. EG. I am getting in the car. Tran. I in car. Try this, it could work. It works for me.

Awesome. I love pranking my BFFs with this and especially when I want to communicate with different people! It's sooo awesome. I definitely recommend this. BUT. It doesn't have dzongkha added in it. I'm from Bhutan and I really want to communicate with others who have the dzongkha keyboard. So PLEASE add a dzongkha keyboard. Overall, I feel like I have no limits. I don't think the free trial doesn't stop it from being awesome. From a person

Feedback. Hey - just wanting to share my thoughts regarding ITranslate. For me it has been a break through translating assistant for years and when the ability to have it as a keyboard on my phone came out, I was incredibly impressed. I don’t have anything negative to add apart from I can’t stand that it adds a little flag emoji now at the beginning of anything you translate. Please add an option to turn that feature on and off. Thanks!

not really a review but a question. i have not had a chance to use this app on holidays yet but will be later on in january i have been formularising myself with it i have a question in some of the phrases for example "how many metres_____?" how do you add to that space, i have tried to tap on that space but it does not work?? thank you for any help...other than that i think this is going to be a great help for my first trip to Thailand

Disappointed with this App. Just because this app is supposedly top rated. I absolutely, and totally disagree with this let down App. I received nothing but frustration caused by this app. It’s deleted, and I will continue to use the translation app that my Oppo phone recommended instead of what my iPhone recommends. THIS GARBAGE APP Pi••ed me right off

An important app for learning French. I would love this to be a regular app. I use Duolingo for learning French. I am an adult learner but studied French at high school. This app is helping me increase my vocabulary and use the correct conjucation of French verbs. I can also converse in French in a French club in Duolingo. I am using the free version and would love the add ons to be free. Fun to use.

Great app!. This app is just so easy to use, I love it. Easy and convenient, well set out. The camera translator is so helpful too (it does occasionally glitch out, but you have to accept that comes with all technology). I use this app often and it’s a great help. Outstanding!

I translate. Useful and easy Sometimes the translation is not correct or i expect more than one I think the mobile app gives the opportunity for sending a correction but the mac version doesn’t

Fix the Italian please!. I am learning Italian on a learning app and just to double check its correct Italian I translated the Italian words to English. I translated (in Italian to English) ‘Ciao, mi chiama Serena. Come stai?’ Which means ‘Hello, my name is Serena. How are you?’ But my translator told me it meant ‘Hi, is that Serena?’ Which I was very confused about. Fix this and I’ll write you a happy reply with five stars! Also, thankyou very much for creating the app, because a majority of the translations are correct and have helped me message my Aunty in Italy, and she has replied in Italian and understood. It’s very useful for homework too! Also I don’t mean to be rude by saying this. Just annoying that my Italian is messing up, peace ✌️

Ukraine. I have just purchase iTranslate & have given it 4 stars as being an excellent product. However, it fails to fully support the language of Ukraine. Ukraine is teaching the world how to stand up to bullies & aggressor’s. We all need to show our support, our solidarity with this great nation. I petition the software writers of this powerful product, please add Ukraine Language to all of this APP, Flash cards, widgets, Conversations etc; let’s give Ukraine it’s rightful place in the world of important, strategic & leading languages. I will then add the fifth & perhaps a sixth star ******

Not good but alright. This app looked very good when I downloaded it. And indeed it was too. It had many languages and many variations for example Chinese Mandarin, Taiwan and Cantonese. However the next few days it would become mixed up. Like the whole thing was broken. I would press translate then it would flip and say something completely different and in the wrong place. After that it didn’t help a single bit.

Works well. There’s no mention anywhere in the description that the “free” version is actually only a 7 Day trial. Edit: Developer replied advising that the 7 Day free trial is only for the Pro Subscription. You can keep using the basic free app as long as you want. This is great but the initial popup should make this clearer

Not very helpful. I was trying to translate my Japanese assignment into English using the photo function and it kept coming up with weird punctuations or random words. I tested this out on a phrase which read what is your favourite subject and it came up with what is your favourites seagull. Overall I had to guess parts from what it had said and some things I couldn’t even guess. It could work for other languages but I wouldn’t recommend purchasing this app for the Japanese photo function.

Voice feature rarely works. For the paid voice feature it always says lost in translation. It’s almost non functional. Waste of $7

Poor and expensive. Not great for Japanese, it freezes frequently. Also the subscription model is predatory, not recommended. There are better free solutions online.

Glitches. As soon as I type more than 5 letters, the screen enters the incomplete word in the wrong language section and doesn’t continue typing. It’s useless, deleting app

It’s ok. So when it was $6 I would of given it a 5 starts but now that I’m paying good chunk more for this I don’t think it’s worth it . I have been using this for a long time and it works pretty good but I do have some problems with it 1. It doesn’t translate properly a lot and messes up conversation 2. The app integration with the keyboard is so annoying half the time it just doesn’t load the words or it completely disappears from my keyboard (note this is with my iPhone 13 & 14 so it’s not my phone) 3. The voice translation doesn’t work that well sometimes it will just totally not work and stop recording half way in a conversation but when it is working I will admit it’s very smooth and not very often it messes up just not easy to get it to do that. It’s extremely annoying to constantly be closing the app and starting it again. And trying to fix it when I’m paying that much for this. If it remains at it low price sure it’s worth it not now. I have other translating applications I can use that are same question for far cheaper . So I give it 3 stars it’s not horrible but also not amazing .

Rip off! Do not trust this app or the free trial!. This app charged me even though I cancelled well before the 10 day free trial period expired! It’s a Scam!

Not free at all. I downloaded this app because it shows as free and I wanted to try it. Could not get a single translation for free because it works offline for free. I don't mind paying a one time charge for a better version of an app I've tried and liked, but $7 a month is robbery.

Best. This helps me translate anything it’s very useful I recommend using this app 👍

Very helpful with my Spanish. I have used this app for several year and really love it. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is that occasionally I cannot find the word I want. Other than that, it is very useful to me.

Got robbed from this app. This app was pulling $7 from my account monthly without me even knowing about it

So many languages have formal vs informal. And yet this translator is too stupid to offer the option. I feel like an idiot sending messages to my relatives using formal pronouns, and sometimes a mix of formal and informal. So stupid! I have advised this issue before.

They charged with no permission. I DID NOT GIVE PERMISSION TO CHARGE ME FOR THE PRO VERSION. NOW MY ACCOUNT COSTS ME $57 dollars for what??? I DIDNT ASK FOR THE PRO

So easy to use. The simplicity of this app is amazing!

Spanish is english. English translates into Spanish in english only with a castillian accent....very funny....but useless

60% increase for this app. App is good but does not warrant a 60% increase… thanks but no thanks!

iTranslate. Still doesn’t work. Three blue dots wiggle

Duolingo. Sometimes have trouble with the volume and English isn't always translating well

Would not recommend.. I trialled this app for a trip I took and after the free trial ended I was charged 86.99 for a year of iTranslate pro which I did not want. I did not receive a warning that my free subscription was ending nor a notification/bill or the charge. The only reason I found this out was a charge on my credit card. I would not recommend iTranslate nor any other apps made by this slimy company unless you want to receive random charges.

Not worth $87 yearly. The app works well but many online translations for free…

Traduction audio ne fonctionne pas. Lorsque je demande à l’application de traduire une phase dictée, j’obtiens la traduction écrite et un message que l’appli c’est perdue dans la traduction. Je dois demander à mon interlocuteur de lire la traduction.

Poor for Portuguese (Portugal). I used the app before for spanish and Polish and it was good. When I travelled Portugal the translation would be poor. It works for simple phrases like good morning and how are you. But for more complex phrases I had to use another app.

Garage $10/week. Downloaded the app to translate from a screenshot. The app wants $10 a week so I clicked the free trial then canceled it in my phone settings before even translating as $10 a week is absolutely nuts. Then went to translate my screenshots, the first picture the app just said “could not translate” it’s just French to English… second picture it translated but extremely poorly. Couldn’t read it at all. Don’t waste your time with this garbage app.

No. Google translate is better

Trials. Dont try it ....you will get charged for a year automatically trying to get refund for 3days now

Very good. Very good but one time it said a bad word like a really bad word don’t recommend find a different app

Should be Free. Not going to pay $10 per WEEK for an app that others like Google translator is free.

I lost $98x2 due to this app. It will subscribe something automatically 7 days after installation Don’t use it. It’s totally a garbage comparing to ChatGPT!

Not accurate, not good. I’m not sure why Apple recommended this app; it’s not helpful or accurate. Maybe it’s “popular”? I deleted it after using it for barely an hour. 👎🏼 Try google translate instead.

Please add Pashto language. Please add Pashto language it doesn’t have Pashto language

Useless.. Text translate is exactly like google translate. No improvement over fluency or sense. Voice translate is TRASH. 10-20% accuracy. Not worth paying for a subscription at all.

EXTREMELY SLOW!. While other translator apps I use work seamlessly and instantly this app leaves me waiting up to 20 seconds or more just to translate a single sentence. I am definitely cancelling my subscription!

Bad app don’t get. Not good at all, apps free but you have to pay to use pretty much any language. Also way overpriced in general. I paid anyways and started testing it out and the translations aren’t even accurate.

Useless. Couldn’t translate a single word on our trip to Italy

It should be more obvious how expensive this app is!. Annual subscription rate is $130.00…ouch!

Not free. Not free

No longer free. This app used to be free. Now it no longer is. And the translations are never really correct. I used it knowing it was never very precise. But it was ok for quick easy translations. Definitely not worth paying for it.

Doesn’t even work...Only works in French and other languages in Tagalog!. Please make more changes cause it’s terrible Do it or get no one !!!!??

Warning. This app starts charging your Apple account automatically! Beware that after 7 days you will be charged whether you have an account or not. It also only had a 50% successful translation rate on English to French.

I USED TO like it- now? Not so much at ALL!!. I have used this app since 2009 WHEN I DOWNLOADED IT AS "FREE"! Now it won't allow me access UNLESS I SIGN A "SUBSCRIPTION AGREEMENT"! SURPRISE!! NOT AS DESCRIBED WHEN I DOWNLOADED!!! So- They scam.

D. Polish wifi’s for my first day at the moment

Merci. Merci d’avoir fait les corrections

Not worth money. Horrible translation, if you have service, you’re better off with Google Translate then paying for this worthless app.

Quietly billing me for a year. Leaving more than a one star because I recognize this may have been partially my fault but I found out this morning that this app has been quietly billing me almost 40 dollars a month for almost a full year. I have opened it once ever and do not recall subscribing to anything. Unfortunate situation, especially considering that it did not work for what I needed it for in the first place!

Free app. This is NOT a free app. Stop advertising it as one please.

Dinero cerdos hambrientos. Tú que tiras los dispositivos de acceso como un huevo; Lee esto, y ve mis palabras sucumben al subconsciente y revuelven tu destino predicho. Quemarás los restos de tu fortuna en la que no pueden ser renovados, introducirás tus amores en la pobreza ninguno escapará, y echarás sobre tus hijos una pestilencia de muerte.

Satisfaisant. Bon qualifié

太他妈好了. 太他妈好了

Don’t purchase. This app no longer works. No support provided.

It’s great. I really find it useful.. It’s the best.

Very good. Easy and fast thanks

automatically charges card. doesn’t accurately translate, tried it on Vietnamese and thai and it’s gibberish. charged my card 1 year after purchasing without my knowledge. Never bought the insanely expensive year subscription, only wanted it for a month and it automatically changed my card. just get google translate this is a scam. i could really use my 97 dollars back :(

Not user friendly. Has annoying pop ups every time. Locks up sometimes while keyboard up something pops up and locks the whole screen. I desperately do NOT want to use google tesnslate because they’re to influential and present everywhere but why can’t people make an alternative at least as good. Was hoping this app would. Instead they’re trying to sell me stuff constantly. When I type in a word I have to click the “translate” button , google just shows the translation as you type, easier. It tracks me everywhere it looks like but so does google, but: no difference here). Why not create a good working app, charge a small reasonable fee per year and don’t sell my info and don’t track me?

Very precise translations and the text to talk or talk to text is amazing!. Even for some of the most obscure languages I have been impressed with the translations. I would’ve guessed that a language like Norwegian would not be have very good translations to English and it really couldn’t be better. It blew google translations out of the water and I confirmed it with the native Norwegian speaker who spoke English as a second language and they were impressed with the accuracy. For the most part I’m using the translator for more common languages such as English to Spanish or English to French and vice versa and the translations are excellent. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nice app, but missing spoken Bulgarian.. I saw the advertisement for iTranslate where one could speak in one language and the app would speak it in a target language, and vice versa. That looked very cool to me so I downloaded iTranslate and paid for the trial to try this feature. It really does work. I tried it for English to Chinese. Wow. Unfortunately, I downloaded iTranslate because I am visiting Bulgaria. It turns out that Bulgarian is not a spoken language yet for iTranslate. This is the only reason I am giving this app four stars. I have no complaints about the app otherwise, and I fully understand that it takes time to build a large library of spoken languages. So take my four stars with a grain of salt. This could be the five star app you were looking for.

poor, indisclosed data ethics. So for some reason my last iTranslate review has been deleted; so in response to itranslate’s response to me wrt data integrity… here is what i can monitor when using this app to translate one word, “hello” from english to Korean; there are 26 instances of data sent to facebook dot com; 3 instances sent to adjust dot com, and 3 sent to measurement dot. All are 3rd party data collectors, and NOT in control nor permision by the user (me). So i repeat my review comment, that this developer is not maintaining good data ethics by disclosing what data and potentially private info is being exchanged to the likes of facebook, a known abuser. (ref eff dot org to learn about these 3rd party practices) —- i really like this app, except for the 3rd party data sharing without my permission. especially to facebook to whom i want nothing sent.

Update. The most recent auto update I didn’t like. The way they have made it to where you have to go through more steps to translate is annoying. The previous version was a much simpler setup and more understandable layout. This app does work really well though so I still use it for the clients I have where there are language barriers. If you’ve ever heard of the “don’t try to fix something that wasn’t broken to begin with” this was that. It still works though and I’m renavigating. It will be an annoyance for quite some time though.

Explanation of “Premium” and “Pro” would be helpful. I paid $5 for “Premium” a while back, and it does restore. Now there is a “Pro” “subscription” that costs $5/month and apparently gives you the ability to translate to and from Mandarin (and some other tweaks). I’m still not clear what fresh content this “Premium” translation level offers- are they building their own words or something? Not a fan of subscriptions in general, but makes sense for newspapers or other applications where you do need to continually update content or license external content (like Netflix). But to my mind this is neither- words are pretty well standardized at this point in history, and doubt this company needs to license words. $40-60/ year?!? Good luck if they can make the subscription model work, I guess. Wish it was clearer what “Pro” and “Premium” mean to them. Partly this is a problem with Apple’s formatting, they should have a standard hyperlink and insist that developers “flesh out” exactly what benefits the different up-charges provide. For simplicity, I will look around for another app to buy that covers Mandarin-English on a 1-shot payment plan.

Amazing app but works best if you know a little about Spanish.. I took Spanish classes for almost 15 years. Now that I’m not in school anymore, I’ve become a little rusty. I don’t want to mess up my ability to speak fluent Spanish and the apps help tremendously. I use DuoLingo as a way to practice daily and level up. But sometimes I’ll forget a word or phrase and the iTranslate app is nothing short of a blessing. I regularly converse with people in Spanish (as an attempt to maintain my skill) and it comes in VERY handy if you’re trying to use some level of American “slang”. So it teaches you the correct terminology so that it makes sense in their language. LOVE THIS APP. 100% recommend.

Make more languages available offline. I really love this app, it’s easy to use and extremely helpful when I travel. However I am disappointed that ONLY one (Arabic, -Egypt) language from the continent of Africa is available offline and has the voice feature. The other for the languages from the continent of Africa (< than 10 languages) do not have the offline availability or voice feature. In the next upgrade can the languages of Igbo, Swahili, Sudanese, Yoruba & Zulu be given additional features that some of the other languages have? This definitely would increase my usage of your app/recommendations to others who are also world travelers and have me purchase the pro feature again.

It’s great BUT old version was better. I love this app, it helped me so much living in different county. I don’t have any premium subscription and it is still the best translator app. BUT I don’t like the new update. Guys this was perfect before!! You did not need to change anything, you changed it to be more like Google translate but it was better than Google translate. If you read this, I really miss the old version and wish you did not change it. No offense just my honest opinion. I really hope you consider giving the user the option between the two versions or something.

Love it. I’ve been using this app alongside my mandarin podcasts, tv shows, and lessons to look up things I’ve heard but didn’t understand. I practice putting sentences together and use the audio feature to see if they translate well. A very good tool that works almost as well as interacting with a local. Very helpful to see the written text in both characters and pinyin as well as challenge my pronunciation. Highly recommend the paid version and all it’s perks! Sometimes it auto corrects you when use incomplete sentences, so it’s always good to double check your translated phrases before copying and pasting msgs to your foreign friends.

Find Another App. I had been using this translator app with great success for several months after moving to Ecuador from the USA. Everything worked great until they did an update and now I have to retype everything I need translated at least twice in order for it to translate. Most of the time the app will take the first few words I’ve typed in English and magically cut and paste them into the Spanish translator box, leaving more work for me to do as I have to erase them and retype everything again. Sometimes I need to shut the whole app down after using it once because it won’t work after using it only one time. It’s a real hassle and too much work, especially after paying for the PRO version. Honestly, you’d be better off getting another translator app. This one is unfortunately garbage now thanks to their updates.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TRIAL. Not only is this a terrible app with many mistakes (for example beets translates into beets in Spanish), but there is no way to cancel during the free trial. (No cancel button). Nor is there a way to send a message to the developer (no “send” button.) you cannot cancel until you receive the receipt for the $49 subscription and then it is too late. You have been charged and attempts to request a refund are futile. Both my husband (who also signed up for the trial) and I filled out the request with a description of what happened. Immediately, within seconds of clicking the “send” button, we got a response saying that our request had been reviewed and didn’t qualify for a refund. This would be laughable if we weren’t already tearing our hair out in utter frustration. Btw, earlier today my husband filled out a review with similar concerns. It has not been published. Not good.

It was good until the update yesterday now it’s trash. It used to show you the part of speech and the verb conjugations etc. Now it’s totally useless since the update and I’m so bummed I just paid my renewal fee. It’s absolutely trash now with none of the features it used to have. Also the camera text scanner was so good! And now it’s absolutely trash. It used to work so well and since the update it is failing to recognize words and mistranslating all over the place. I want my $69 back. So awful. Bring back the old version. You messed it up badly. Oh also they removed the “alternative translations” which was highly useful because often those were more correct. The updates are a total disaster. Looking for a new app. It was so good and they totally destroyed it. Run away

Apple has it DOWN!. This app is awesome! And it’s made by Apple, which goes to show you that Apple can be pretty amazing. I don’t understand people with Androids. Anyway, you can translate from and to 100 different languages, from Afrikaans to Zulu! The app is easy to use, and there are more languages than you’ll probably ever need to translate to or from. The languages are listed alphabetically too, so you can find the language you’re looking for easily, or you can just search the language with the search bar! This app is amazing, I totally recommend getting it!

Oh Well. so i got this app to talk to my family members in Hindi, since i’m Indian, though i’m from america. So you can probably guess i don’t know it. So i downloaded this app because i saw camera translation and voice features that helps you chat with others. That was the main reason i got this. I was so Disappointed when I saw you have to pay for everything i needed. I know one time I got an ad saying i can use camera translation, so of course i went straight to the app. So i tested it out on a map of India, and took a picture of a word in Hindi, because i want to know what it meant. I was ready to translate it, then it stopped for some reason and took me back to the translation area. I tried going back to it, then it was like, haha you need to buy pro now. Google Translate is better.

Could be 5 stars. Why oh why is there a problem with this app. There should be no problems. It is Apple integrated. Keyboard feels cheap. Definitely not iPhone keyboard related. More like a 99 cent keyboard from the App Store. Very disappointed and I don’t remember this in the past. I am also a paid member. Also malfunction in text. The text message keyboard now populates message in subject field. This cannot be undone. It will not put in Text field. So I guess I have to turn Subject field off to use the translator in app. 2 stars because this app is essential and should not be malfunctioning

Some upgrades not great. I have used iTranslate for approx 3 years and have always been impressed. But the last upgrade changed the ease of use and removed some features. You now have to pick the language you are translating from to the language you need. It doesn’t default to your primary language anymore. The removal of alternate translations is truly unfortunate. It was very helpful in seeing other ways to translate a frase or sentence. That was a great feature! Not sure why you increased the size of the font but now you have to scroll to see the translation Otherwise it is still a good app!

Wrong Translation. I heard about the app from a few friends and they told me to try it out. As a friend, I decided to check it out. Of course, I know two languages, English and Japanese. So, I was thinking I could find out if the translation are right. Even find a few new words myself. So I typed in some stuff in English. Guess what? They even got the simple ‘Hello’ in Japanese wrong! I mean, if you are learning Japanese, that is the first thing you learn. And yet, some people may think the is simply correct. They got others wrong, too. My friend has a trip overseas and so she tried getting a good translate app to learn a couple of words. Poor girl thinks that the words are correct. Even I know. Who is running it? Make a app that actually works. Not give me and others half way. Thank you for reading this.

Been using this (and only this) for years. I don’t ever write reviews, and I don’t even have the upgraded version of this app, but it has helped me immensely over the years. From translating French while taking a course at uni to Portuguese when I forget words in my own language. I love that the app doesn’t charge for the pronunciation feature. You can choose a female or male voice and even edit the speed at which each language is pronounced. That’s gotta be the coolest feature I’ve personally seen on a translation app. The whole app is so smooth and easy to use, and it’s aesthetically simple and pleasing. To everyone who had a part in creating and releasing it, merci beaucoup!

So disappointed. I used to swear by this app, I found myself using it more than google translate. I live and travel a rod roughy 9 months straight out of very year so I always need help with translation. The app was very handy and had features that I loved so much I’d recommend the app to every friend I have. Now, however, the translations are ALWAYS wrong. The widget copy/paste feature is awful as well and customer service was no help in trying to solve the problem. Customer service tried to suggest that I had done something to mess with the settings in my app, and that is why it wasn’t working. I’ve never changed my settings or the way that I use the app, it’s 100% the developers problem and I’m beyond disappointed that this has gone on for so long. It’s been months that this has been happening and it doesn’t appear that they’re going to fix it.

God lousy keyboard to translate. We have to start by saying that it is an excellent translator, but for being a tool that has been on the market for so long it is a disappointment that its keyboard is so bad, I prefer to use the copy and paste of Google translate, before I paid for the paid version of ITranslate but I gave up because the main function that I use to communicate with my suppliers in other countries in my business is very important speed during a conversation and I would have liked the keyboard to be more intuitive but nevertheless it is a nightmare to correct all the typing errors for a bad translation ... they are an app with too much time to keep quiet I have been using this app for more than 4 years I have preferred to switch to Google Translate

Limited offline functionality, and inaccurate. I bought this app, to have short, off-line exchanges in Japanese. It has only confused those with whom I have attempted to converse. The app is befuddled by plural nouns, verbs in past or future tense, commas, and many simple words, such as triple. Sentences are re-arranged, often rendering the opposite meaning. In order to say anything, I have to repeatedly translate my statement or question from English to Japanese, and back again, tweaking and simplifying it each time. To make matters worse, many of the most attractive features do not function without an internet connection, and voice translations are sent to Apple. They do not need any of my biometric data. In short, this app is useless to me, and the subscription based model makes it expensive. I do not recommend it.

Must have app for learning a new language. It’s more than just a translator .They provide tons of different languages to learn. They have a paid version if you would like to upgrade. I’m using the free version and it starts out with the easier words to learn in each categories. Easy to use and fun learning a new langue. It even has a translation section to translate any langue you want to know what it means, learn and understand the language. OVERALL GREAT APP HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! Especially if you are looking to learn a new language for a vacation, school/ studying or simply just want to learn.

Terrible Turkish translations. I am in Turkey and trying to use this to help communicate. It’s terrible! Many of the words are translated poorly and even when I show the text to the person I’m trying to talk to (even simple things like while shopping) it fails to translate well - even simple words with no double English meanings like decaffeinated/decaf/without caffeine - none of those worked. I’m disappointed. (For a good laugh and an example of what I’m talking about, check out the description of the spa AT A NICE RESORT where I’m staying: “This massage person is going to be excessive. Pregnant maker: physically and emotional relief, the entry to be under special, is a pregnant commander of the enormous entry. The massage is a very calenful of coordination to you, the same as the symbol of the same as the symbol of the same. In the meantime, the rhinus is a pregnancy, the physical, is a certain of affection.”)

Part-time Spanish speaker. Overall the app is okay. I was disappointed when the keyboard would not work for Spanish translation. It was based on Spain not Mexico. Also some of the options that were available wouldn't even translate simple phrases like good morning The last disadvantage of the keyboard is that it requires full access to your phone's computer thus credit card info. I turned it off immediately and until these two features are fixed the keyboard will not be used by me. Perhaps you guys could also work on common words used by Americans like "guys" and "y'all"

Previously Purchased Old App, Not Repurchasing in New. Offers a + version which is paid, then makes it unavailable to download and tries to charge you twice by IAP in this version. Other developers in a similar situation have given the + features in the unified version if you already purchased them in the standalone +. NOT THESE GUYS! *Reply to developer response. Thanks for the reply, but that’s entirely not the case. I can’t access the pro features I paid for. I tried restoring purchases but your team must have changed the list of purchases available, removing the option I had paid for, even if it was recreated; as my purchases which do show in iTunes cannot be restored in your app.

Easy to use. Used it for years. Great features like the paste button that inputs your last copy, flipping the languages back and forth (translate from English to Mandarin and vice versa with one touch) and multiple languages available with little icons of the country’s flag. The translations are decent, better than google translate for sure. User-friendly, solid UX/UI, only con is that they’ll ask you to upgrade when you open the app every so often. You just hit the x in the top left corner; it looks invisible but it’s there. Preferred over my included apple translator app on my iPhone.

They are stealing from us.. I’ve bought this app the pro version long time ago, and it was like 3.99 and now the change the price and I can’t use the pro version because they trying to charge me 4.99 a month. Why? If I’ve already or purchased the pro version, it’s is fair? If you guys changed the prices that’s not our problems, us who bought the pro version when it was cheaper have the right to have all the benefits of the pro version because that’s what we paid for long time ago. How you guys think we’re gonna trust you? We can’t, we won’t. That’s stealing and forcing people to pay 2 times for something already pay. How’s is that you can’t find my account? You guys have everything on file, but is not convenient for you guys to find my previous purchase because a y’all want me to pay another time.👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

Should not be charged before trying. I hate when you guys do that. How am I trying it if I have to pay for it in advance? What if I don’t have the money available at the time I want to try it? You should let the app be tested for free as a Free Trial version, as you mention. I don’t even know if I am going to like and then first thing I encounter when opening the App for the first time is a payment of $4.99/mo. Come on. That doesn’t make any sense. What if I forget to cancel the free trial if I don’t like it for some reasons or if there is a problem where I am unable to do the cancellation for any unexpected emergency reason. The developer should give us, the user, some time to try it and then block the free trial to give users an option to either pay for it or give it up. In my opinion, it’s tricky the way you do it. I can’t even rate it because I never had a chance to try the Trial Version.

Quit asking me to upgrade!. App itself is great. I’m docking two stars for stupidly high prices and the fact that every time I open the app, often at work in an attempt to quickly help a customer who doesn’t speak english, I have to wait for and close the prompt asking me to upgrade. I get that you want money, but I don’t use it enough to justify the $6/month or $50/year. Also, you already have tabs for paid features in the free app. Isn’t that enough to remind users that there’s more available, for a fee? You have to actually hinder their use of the app? Forget it. I’m looking for a different option, maybe with a reasonable one-time fee instead of an outrageous subscription. This app obviously isn’t for casual users.

It WAS great... I only downloaded this app because of a college course Spanish class. When i got the app it had barely been released on the app store & honestly the translations were pretty spot on! It WAS , WAS a good translator app, but now i don't I DO NOT recommend downloading this to only pay for it to work! This app never needed a subscription to work! Recently ive been noticing that every time i try to translate anything, The App SHUTS-DOWN PURPOSELY after every time a word or phrase is to be translated to the preferred language. For that i am removing this app after 6 yrs of having it on my phone. It was a great! WAS! Ridiculous how it shuts down now when i never had that problem. Now if i want a translation i have to pay!? Nope. Sorry, removed from my phone. I loved the app i honestly did just the whole having to pay for it to MAYBE work. Nah. Im good, ill stick to google.

Colloquialisms are marvelous things, but hard to pin down.. Without knowing the Colloquialisms - you do not know a language, nor the culture you are in. Without knowing the language derogatory idioms specific to your perceived origins, and not knowing critical language swear words, a traveler’s life could be in danger, and they may never know it until it is too late. These are two of my criteria used to evaluate a language translation program for excellence. iTranslate Pro is one of the better translation applications available to the user in the Apple App Store. I would rate it Very Good for the common user for a relatively good translation. It does not include my two primary criteria. However, it is not perfect. Using one of eleven languages in which I have conversed, Hausa, the second largest African language used primarily in West Africa as my example, iTranslate is using what I loosely term a transient “Metropolitan” Hausa as their base versus the pure Hausa from the heart of Hausaland centered in Sokoto.

Small errors. For the most part this is an excellent translation app. But there are small errors, such as the Danish translation of the English word, “mile”, if one places “mile” by itself, the word is translated correctly, “mil”. But “miles” (plural) gets translated as “miles”. Also when the question, “How many miles on your car?” Is asked, “miles” gets translated to “kilometer”. According to a Danish friend, “mile” (singular) or “miles” (plural) both translate to “mil”. Same word singular or plural. Please correct this defect. There may also be similar errors in other languages.

Poor translations when it works. I am using this app to translate from Italian to English and 1/3 times it won’t translate the word at all, instead it just repeats the same word I typed in English in the Italian box. I’m typing things like “lemon cake recipe” and “woke up” that got zero translation. It also shows me a list of the English verb conjugations not the Italian ones. It seems more like a basic dictionary than a smart translator. I checked my settings to confirm it understands I know English and am learning Italian - all the settings are right. It’s also no longer working with my microphone and I’ve had the app three weeks - just enough time for me to have paid for it. This is very disappointing for the price. I would recommend looking for another app if you want to translate anything complex like a recipe :)

Great app for learning languages/speech aid use. The app is absolutely ideal for helping everyone learn languages they never knew before, especially when it comes to its ability to act as a speech aid and speak for you if some pronunciations are unknown; but I have a suggestion for the app: I don’t know if it’s true or not, but I heard that the Irish language could possibly be endangered (and is the only one I heard of when it comes to a report like this) so just in case, I was wondering if Irish speaking voices could be added to help to preserve/revive the language, if it is, in fact, endangered:)

Great app with a frustrating problem. Overall I love the app. However, If you find yourself needing to translate a long essay using the voice recorder, it is a nightmare of an experience. I found myself attempting to record 30 second intervals of it as the word count maxed very quickly. After each attempt of recording them, it would only translate half of the time, the other half it would just close without giving me the english version. When I moved to google translate, it worked instantly which was a relif after spending almost 30 minutes trying to record a 2 minute 30 second clip. Overall, great app unless you want to record a long clip and translate it.

Very disappointing. Took a trip to Japan. I had tested Google Translate and it was okay, so I thought a paid app would be even better. Wrong. My primary use was through the camera, to translate labels on items in stores. Often all I got from iTranslate were single words repeated ad nauseum. For some reason it was stumped by, well, just about everything. Be aware that I had an excellent WiFi connection most of the time (paid extra for that). I ended up just using Google Translate because it was more dependable (slower, but give it time and it was pretty good). For me, the subscription rate is not justified by the performance. I terminated the subscription as soon as I returned to the US. Sorry devs, but you need to fix this. Buh bye!

no issues, amazing app. I’ve had nothing but satisfaction from this clean interface, multi-function app. Having traveled to places where human translators are not a given, this app can be a lifesaver. Using speech, voice and speaker, you can have a “conversation” in a foreign language with only a minimal delay. Also great if you’re just interested in language, or learning a language. (As for paid upgrade - it’s fabulous - I activate my subscription when I’m traveling, and sometimes suspend it when I’m not, whatever the case, it is worth every penny of the modest cost for the major upgrades!) My go-to translator - give it a try.

😟. I loved it when I first got it but it got annoying because you have to pay for ALMOST EVERYTHING! If your in a different country and your trying to talk to someone who doesn’t speak the same language as you, you can’t use the app unless you have WiFi so if your in a part of town with no WiFi, then your just out of luck and you can’t communicate because you have to PAY just to use the app out of WiFi! Also if your in a different country and there’s a sign not in your language you have to pay to use the camera that translates words from signs and papers and stuff. So if something says danger and you don’t speak the language of the sign then the sign doesn’t really matter to you even though it is important because you just have to pay.

One Suggestion. The update make it more easier to translate on keyboard version but one suggestion I wanted an easy way to change language in keyboard for example I speak Japanese and my friend is speaking English I will translate it to Japanese To english right? And if I wanna understand my friends language I gotta go scroll and scroll to change the language so maybe you could add the swap button so more easier to swap but only that 2 specific language you chosed and also 2 buttons to remove all types words and one button to bring back the deleted words I hope this helped many people including me thank you devs a big credit for you all!.

Decent, but the Pro idea makes it harder. Translate issues aswell.. If you meet someone who dosen’t speak your language, you might have to or want to talk to them. Or in other cases like if you want to order food. Well it doesn’t allow you to, due to the subscription. Though, of corse, there are some translate errors that might need to be looked into. If I put in “¿Está?” on one side, (using Spanish, of corse,) then flip it over, then flip it over again, (having “¿Está?” Where it should be, with what is, “Is it?” Or supposed to be, on the other side.) “¿Está?” is now “¿¿ Está?”. Either when you switch it, it becomes different, or this is a mistake. Please fix this.

An amazing and useful app!. I have used iTranslate primarily to communicate with friends on Facebook from various countries internationally such as Sweden, Italy and Brazil and have been able to comment and banter in their native languages and it always seems to be a totally accurate translation judging from the fact that the recipients of the translated messages understand the points made concisely and clearly every time. Plus, using and applying this app in such a context really assists in helping to facilitate beginning to learn these different languages. This is one of my top 3 favorite apps ever without a doubt. Thank you for this amazing and excellent app!!

Translator. I love this app but one thing that’s very annoying when you say a word exactly how it sound from a native that speaks that language that you trying to learn from that native it gives you a word you didn’t say and it’s the opposite of what that same native person is saying, it’s not giving you exactly the word you or that native saying . It picks up what it want to hear and not whats actually been saying even if you yourself taking your time saying the word the translator picks up something else that you didn’t say. Thats the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars because of that.

Best By Far. I’ve downloaded so many translating apps and some were good, while others were not. When I came across this one, it caught my attention when I read the description. This one by far is the BEST! it nails the translation perfectly and I love how accurate the results are. I’ve compared it to google translate. Translated a sentence back and forth from English to Portuguese, Portuguese to English and iTranslate was superior. It also included Portuguese from Portugal, which I didn’t know. I just assumed Portuguese was Portuguese but there’s two different ones and that’s what google translate lacks on.

Decent all the way around. Overall, I’d say the translations come out pretty well. They are accurate and also provide good alternative translations as what the translation is may not be exactly what the locals say exactly. So with that being said, it’s been super useful while living in Europe to see and hear the spoken language and use it back when communicating when you don’t know the language. Yeah a lot of people do speak English, but at the same time, people respect you a lot more and are more helpful when you actually make an effort to speak to them in their language rather than be a typical English-speaking tourist. :)

A Sleek, Efficient Design Plagued By Ruthless [in-your-FACE!] Ads. This product has proven a clean & concise tool that quickly translates a multitude of differing languages; with your word swiftly translated into the language of choice. This does so rather swiftly as well which is always appreciated. My one qualm with this app is that it essentially suffocates you with ads and “deals” prior to being able to actually use the system itself. I suggest they find a perhaps different strategy; preferably one involving a less aggressive approach with these adds when essentially hold you hostage in certain scenarios. Other than my qualms with their approach towards ads, I overall enjoy this system and love using it.

Beware!. I initially would have rated this app higher. I bought it some time ago and used it, then paid to purchase the Premium version. Now when I try to use it I cannot access the app. Instead I get a drop down menu pushing the purchase of the “Pro” version for $4.99/month. There is a note that says “ restore purchases” which I assumed would restore my already paid for “Premium” version. It does not! Instead the buy- the- Pro version drop down menu continues and I cannot access the Premium version. I have contacted developer on various occasions about the problem. They tell that yes I have the Premium version but they do nothing to give me access to it. The buy- the- Pro at $4.99 that is automatically renewable forever continues. Beware of what your are getting into with this app!

Translate stupidity without connection to asked word!!. UPDTE: latest updates didn’t correct anything. All translations show some “word” which is not even a real word! It is crazy that some simple word as “engage” have that bunch of letters as translated word. What is the point of the translation software which don’t do it’s core function? Why they don’t write clearly “This app will show correct translation ONLY if you pay subscription”! My advice to everyone, forget about this app and download ANY other translation app from the App Store. This one is useless. I don’t know what happened with this app!! It was working perfectly for years but in last 5-6 months it become useless! From time to time, more then not, it translate some simple words in totally crazy translation which doesn’t have any connection with a source word. I suppose developers by this way are trying to push for subscription. The same way as they make the “X” (close) button rather invisible for “try pro...” advert and is very difficult to find it. I already install other translator which is more reliable and if this one continue to translate so bad will delete it as my wife already remove it from her phone.

I do not recommend. *update: As you can read below, the app developer does not read the reviews accurately (they pointed out something that I already mentioned in my review). Also, they continue to take absolutely no responsibility for their mistakes (read the negative reviews, it is ALWAYS the customers’ fault in the app developer’s mind). My advice for the app developer: swallow your pride and stop telling all negative reviewers that they’re wrong. It looks desperate and trashy to constantly disagree with your customers. ————————————————- The app has many interesting features, many of them available with the Pro subscription which is pretty inexpensive. However, there are other translation apps that work wonderfully without paying anything- I know because I’ve used them as I’ve travelled. I also do not like that the app developer comments on every negative review “this simply is not true”. That tells me that the developer is unwilling to take responsibility for the problems with the app (every app has its issues). I’ll just stick with what I know works rather than take the chance of paying for a subscription.

Worth the Money!!. I bought this app by mistake, and was surprised at how much it cost. However, I decided to keep it and give it a try. I am extremely happy with it. I am working on learning a new language that no one in my house speaks . It helps a great deal , I can use it to learn how to say everything that I need to, better yet it’s like having an interpreter at home! This app does so much! I’m so glad I bought ! I believe it is helping me progress with my new language more than I would without it . Sometimes the app does not correctly interpret my English, so I just type it. It’s not perfect but I really really like it!
