Google Docs App Reviews

Meh.. The only reason I use Google Docs over programs like Pages and Word is that my school system uses it and I have unlimited storage for Google Docs in my drive (which by the way is great). But the app is just sooooo s l o w. I don’t know if this is an issue with my iPad (which has plenty of performance issues itself) or with the app, but it’s nearly unusable for me. When I use my bluetooth keyboard with it the text is very laggy (or with the onscreen keyboard for that matter) and text editing is an iOS 12-style nightmare. You can’t drag your finger over text to select it like in iOS 13, you have to tap on the cursor, select “Select,” and then drag over all the text you want to select (which is very slow and laggy). I would really appreciate a couple of features, like viewing the same app in multiple spaces in iPadOS (because I find myself needing to look at multiple docs at once more and more these days) or at least some kind of similar system and a better Explore feature like on desktop. And as several other people have mentioned the text correction is nowhere near perfect. It always marks weird things as grammatically incorrect that are perfectly fine. Good, but some issues. First of all I would like to say that I love that you can attach it to your different google accounts. I got the app a few days ago on my iPhone, but I attached it to my iPad account. This app is super useful but I do have a few complaints. First of all, when you delete something in the app, a little gray banner will pop up and ask if you would like to undo your action for a few seconds. I thought this was a good feature, but if I am trying to organize or clean out my docs, the banner will block me from hitting delete on other ones which slows down the process a lot. Another thing is is that there is no selection tool, and there is also no way to put your docs into folders. I know that you can get the Google Drive app to organize everything, but in this app in particular, you can not organize it into folders. Sometimes I will be going through my old docs, and I will want to delete or move multiple items at a time, I can not because there is no select tool. Please take my offers and consider updating the app to a better quality. And for those who are reading this, I really recommend this app, especially if you are a Google user. Thank you!

Love Google docs. I absolutely love google docs, especially since I’m in college and it saves your work automatically when your up at 2:00am trying to finish an essay that is due that same day and you fall asleep. There probably is away to do this, but if not I wish there would be away to categorize documents into different folders for different projects or classes and or poor year. I think this would be very helpful for me since one day I would love to show my kids that hard work does pay off. The slide shows are excellent and great for presenting history projects to make them at least semi fun and very easy to use once you learn to switch over from PowerPoint... but the basic outline I personally feel is similar yet differently. The docs were it is like Microsoft Word is very identical just a few extra perks of not having to save, having all of your work in one place, and very easy usage. The only reason for a 4 star was the fact is that if it doesn’t have the filing system “ I would be surprised if it didn’t” again probably haven’t figured it out, but have been using this program since 2015 at-least so I think I would have found it, but things fly over everybody's head sometimes “am I right or am I right?”

Accessible anywhere. Before knowing about Goggle Docs I would use word, a coworker who was also in school showed me how to access it on my phone if I’m on the go, or just sitting at my desk. It was much more enjoyable and easy to use when needing to jump back on at any time. I have told others in my class about google docs, it just took a while for me to actually access all my emails that I can link to . It saved me time logging into a computer, when I’m already looking at my phone. It’s better than word. Also when having errors it allows you to see a correction or just add a comment on the side so you can either fix or re word later. I really like that I can pull it up on my phone and allow a friend to read from my laptop for a review on some thing I’ve missed while working and writing. The application saved me a lot of time. Thank you! I think if there were step for first timers also once you open a google account explain the many options you can do with the application!!!

HATERS BACK OFF. Everyone that writes bad reviews about Google Docs doesn’t know what they are talking about so if u are one of those people that write bad reviews to make people regret their decisions shut up nobody wants to hear about your bad attitude opinions u are just trying to ruin people’s lives and you just want people to delete this app I am writing a fictional story on Google Docs about a 7 year old girl that is going through rough obstacles on the Oregon Trail with her Mom Dad and her horse Bucky her brother died along the trail because of a disease on the Oregon Trail called Cholera and she soon runs away because her parents force her to give a robber/horse theif named Robert her horse she soon finds a nice field of grass with some other wild horses and they soon run away after a wild black Clydesdale joins them as they graze I am trying not to make this long so bye

Deletes data. I use google docs to type up reports, nearly everyday. I type my notes on a variety of apple devices, and usually it works well enough. But occasionally it will pull up an old version of the document, sometimes a few weeks old, and it’ll delete all the previous weeks worth of notes I’ve written. Today I typed up my daily note on my ipad, all my notes were on there (I had used a MacBook Air earlier that week with no problem either). Afterwards I went onto an iPad mini to add to my note and it pulled up a version from over 2 weeks prior, showing none of my notes that I had recently written. I quickly pulled out my phone and checked the doc and it was the exact same on there, both completely sync’d up. I tried to check the history of the notes to see if I could see my deleted notes, but it didn’t have anything recent to show. The only was I was able to save my doc was by turning on airplane mode on my iPad and then opening the doc so that it wouldn’t update, and then turning the WiFi back on so it could make the others sync to it. This is extremely worrisome to use a service that is supposed to sync your notes across devices, but may actually delete all your data.

Better for Personal Use. I’ve been a longtime user of Google Docs—around three or four years—and it’s been great for storing important documents. I’ve also used it a lot for jotting down ideas, writing creative stories, and other personal uses. I feel that these are what the app is best for. I’ve tried to use it several times for academic essays, and the current format does not support certain basic functions, especially with indentation, adding page numbers in MLA or APA, and so on. The spell check for Google Docs is also flawed, and frequently marks everyday words as misspelled, and then other words not in the regular dictionary as perfectly correct. The syncing is also kind of finicky sometimes, and you can lose work or have to restart the app multiple times in one sitting, if you’re somewhere that there is no ideal connection. So if you’re a student or a professional, you are also going to want Microsoft Word, which has more features and is easier to use. However, the syncing generally works very well, and I love being able to back up all my documents. The aesthetic appearance of the documents are also very appealing, and most of the basic writing functions are easy to access. Keyboard shortcuts still work, and those shortcuts match to whichever model of computer you are using, so you don’t have to learn anything terribly new to use the app competently. It’s super easy to add other contributors, and to restrict privacy/use settings. All in all it has served me very ell.

Great Go To, Just Crash Problems. I’m a book writer and I’ve been using a combination of both Word, Docs and Pages for my books, yet Docs is my go to almost all the time since its more easily accessible for all devices I own. But recently, after getting my new iPad Mini (6th gen), whenever I try to multitask (aka open a new app to the side) it crashes on me, and I have to reopen it and scroll all the way down (important to note some of my books are 100+ pages long so imagine scrolling through that) just to get back to where I left off. It is an issue I am only now seeing on my new iPad Mini, not on my iPad Pro. I’m not so sure why that is, or if it’s just my iPad Mini or the Docs app itself. I hope this issue can be resolved soon wherever it may be coming from. Overall, good writing and work app compared to Pages and Word. (I love Pages as well, don’t think I’m choosing; they’re all pretty good work medias in general as long as they get the job done) Just for some of you, you might get times when it crashes. I’m not sure if its just me; I hope my review brings light on the situation and maybe it can be looked in on as to why this is happening to me and maybe some other users

Good, but could use some work.. Google docs is overall a pretty good app, except one thing. Not sure if it involves google classroom but whenever I turn in a piece of work, I go back into the original doc and it says view only when I clearly am the owner of it. I hope google fixes it and maybe allow mobile users to add fonts since it would be awesome. Besides that point, it’s very useful to write drafts without actually, you know, writing it. Also if you could do this but when I insert some kind of picture into the doc I hope I could possibly drag it all the way to the corner. Of course these are just small features that you don’t have to incorporate into this but they just make it more enjoyable for the writer/student/teacher/others. The google classroom issue is the only real complaint about here. I really love google docs as a student and this is my favorite app to use while writing. Love you Google Docs! :D

Highly recommended, but definitely room for improvement. Google Docs is very, very useful as a whole, providing services that allow seamless collaboration and that solve many past horrors of word-processors (like the classic “I didn’t save my doc and now it’s gone foreverrrrr!!”). As great as it is on desktop, I personally found the transfer to mobile devices a little, well, less great. It’s obviously difficult to find an intuitive way to lay out all the functions of Docs on desktop onto a smaller screen, but it’s honestly such a huge hassle navigating comments and suggestions, even when I’m on my iPad. It’s also kind of annoying that I can’t zoom out more on a doc—basically, once the width of the page fills the screen, I can no longer zoom out. This doesn’t sound like a huge deal, but it makes for a lot of tedious scrolling when an already long document has relatively large text. Additionally, there are these small annoying glitches that occasionally occur. For example, when I was editing a doc, I kept trying to delete a space, but it would always delete the space and the letter behind it. I tried over and over again to no avail... sigh.... It also seems to me that Docs can get kind of slow? I’m on a new device, so the hardware should be working fine, but there’s a huge lag when I’m trying to type in the app. Other than these few problems, everything else has been working fine and going smoothly.

Folders, please!. I am a young writer and I use Google Docs for school and writing. I have many documents that are currently organized by last modified. This means that I have stories that I wrote, stories that my friends are writing that I get to edit, and rubrics, lists, and assignments that my teachers created for distance learning all jumbled together. As you can imagine, there is no rhyme or reason to this mess and I can never find what I need. This is annoying to me. I am trying to get myself together and be more organized, but this is hard when there is no visible means of organization. I want to keep my books separate from my gajillions of distance learning assignments, and that’s not possible. This is a suggestion, not for the app, but for Google Docs in general. My teacher told me about Drive folders, but they were difficult to use and they did not separate my work from my schoolwork, as I had intended. I’m thinking maybe when you go into Docs, instead of seeing all your stuff, you see all your folders. Then you click on a folder and it shows you all the documents inside that folder. This would make using Google Docs so much easier. Please add folders; it would make life SO MUCH EASIER!!!

Previously Solid, Now a Hassle. For ages, this has been my go-to app for writing (especially after dark mode was introduced), but the last two updates have made it more of a pain to use than just using the built-in Notes app and reformatting later. It no longer automatically scrolls when I reach the bottom of the screen, so I constantly have to stop to swipe up or type without seeing what I'm writing. It also has a new bug where if I navigate away from the app, I can't see the text at the bottom if it's longer than the length of the screen. I have to tap the done arrow, navigate down, then double tap to resume writing. It still has the old bug where it occasionally would look like there was still another line of text that you'd already erased until you hit enter. Honestly, that one didn't knock any stars off for me. I can hit enter and backspace without losing my train of thought. These new ones actively hamper my work. Edit: I fixed the scrolling issue by uninstalling and reinstalling (not sure why that escaped me), so I revised the review to be three stars. The inaccessible text remains an issue, however. I have a question up in the Community. If a solution comes up, I'll revise this again.

Bookmark Tool No Longer Functions Correctly. For the most part the app works as expected and is incredibly convenient; however, there’s a serious issue with the bookmarking tool/functionality that seems to have arisen out of these subsequent updates that I DESPERATELY hope gets addressed. Essentially, if a bookmark link is generated for an entirely separate document, clicking that link will now open Google Docs in a mobile browser instead of simply opening the new document in-app. This wouldn’t necessarily be an issue, but what really sours the experience is that the mobile browser won’t track to the exact part of the document the bookmark was intended to pinpoint. This used to not be the case, as clicking on a bookmark link for a separate document would simply result in the app opening and prioritizing that new document, and taking the reader to the intended location within that new document. I really hope this gets fixed, because it makes jumping between documents incredibly tedious, if not outright impossible. PLEEASE fix this. Again, this wasn’t an issue until some of these later updates came along!

It Could Be Nice…. But it’s just fighting me all the time ! I got this app because it allowed me to create documents with various fonts, and have more control than some of the other note taking apps, But when you’re trying to choose a font for something; you highlight the text and then choose the text or font function and it appears in the tiniest little window that you can possibly imagine and if you get the wrong font, you have to go back and start over from beginning to choose a different font for the text that you had selected. The other thing I discovered was that when you’re trying to save something, you have to save it in pieces, a little bit at a time and after you finish that; it asks you several times do you want to save this? Do you want to save this? Do you want to save this ? do you want to save this? Do you wanna save this ? do do you want to save this? Do you want to save this ? instead of just doing it automatically like every other Mac OS app on laptop or even most iOS apps. I can’t help but think that this app was created by Microsoft programmers because it’s just not friendly at all, not even a little bit !

I ❤️ Google Docs but.... Well, honestly, Google Docs is AMAZING! I love all the features and it just has this very nice atmosphere and it’s just...AWESOME!!! But there is just ONE little problem. You see, before I had an iPhone, I had an LG phone. Specifically, the LG Fortune. And when I had that phone, you could put emojis in the text. But NOW I can’t even add an emoji! I bet you’re thinking this is useless, but what about when I’m writing a story or something? Like for example, I add a texting part to my story. Then, I do it like someone adds an emoji to their text. It WOULDN’T appear! It kinda get’s me a little disappointed because it ruins the whole book. I don’t care if whoever’s reading this thinks I’m dumb or stupid, but hey! I’m saying MY opinion! Isn’t that what a review is for? To share your opinion about a thing (in this case, an app)? Anyway, I just think that Google Inc. should consider this and improve it or fix it. But overall, Google Docs is an extraordinary app that I recommend to everyone. 😄

Great Website, HORRIBLE iPad App. I love using google docs, i use it for school and i have the new iPad with the keyboard so it sometimes feels like a laptop. Well I downloaded the google docs app, and the whole interface is nothing like the web version. I tried using it today for an essay and I ended up opening safari and using google docs there because all the controls i needed were on the web version. Why limit the app to basic things like bold,italic,highlight, and font/size? There’s not even a size issue because I can load the same google docs that’s on computers on the safari app on the iPad. And the fact that you have to manually open the settings and tap “print layout” every time you open the app to make sure its not just a continuous white roll of paper is so annoying. Then you always have to tap the screen to bring up a menu that has a button to edit the doc as if you don’t already want to work on it. What do you think I’m doing? Staring at my paper? No I got work to do, If I wanted to review my paper without editing it I’d just I don’t know... not type words into my doc.

Problem. Ok, I love this app a lot! It’s a lot easier to use on an iPad than google slides, but there’s a problem that stops me from using this cool app. Whenever I press the plus button to make a new Docs sheet, and then I press the “choose template” button. Then, there is a lot of cool templates to choose from. Once I pick the template that I want, I press it , and a gray loading button appears on the screen. I wait for a little while, and the new docs I wanted never shows up! I have been waiting for it to show up for 2 days now, and while I am waiting, it doesn’t let me cancel, or start editing a docs that I have already created! This is really annoying, and you need to fix this problem!😤😤😤 Ok, the problem is fixed!😊When I went to the App Store to see if anyone responded to the problem, I saw the update button on the top of the screen. I thought that if I updated google docs, the problem would be fixed! So I updated it, and when I went on to google docs again, the loading signal was gone, my templates had appeared, and I could edit other docs again! The problem is fixed!

Great for writing, but hard to insert equations. Google’s Docs is fantastic! It is nice to have your document constantly backed up without hassle. I have grown to prefer using this app over Microsoft’s Word and Apple’s Pages. I use this app mostly on an iPad and keyboard. One thing that stand out for google docs over the other word processing apps is its ease to format using keyboard shortcuts. In iOS this is HUGE!!! The ability to use keyboard shortcuts drastically improves productivity when working in a touch based operating system! With that being said, I cannot do all my work on this app. I can type up most of my documents using this app, but I need to switch to a different device to do some finishing touches before publishing my documents. For example, it would be nice to change a documents margin’s while using this app. It also would be nice to insert equations using this app. As it stands, those features remain on the web based version of docs and not on the iOS version. That being said, google docs is my go to app for any word processing on an iOS device. It is clear the team at google have put a lot of work into developing this app, perhaps even more than its competitors.

No Crashes! But a Glitch Remains. I literally came here to write about this one glitch that irritates me, then I saw there's an update. And after it I tried out the problem that would usually make the app freeze, then crash after five seconds. It always happens when I turn it horizontally or vertically after a while of opening the doc and more often after editing once. It did freeze this time, which made me expect the crash, but thankfully it didn't happen. Yay! Those crashes seriously made it difficult to open the app again, find the doc, then find where I left off in writing (I write very very long documents). Thank you for the half-fix, but I'm writing about the text going out of frame and then freezing as it tries to turn around, so that you know what to fix. Thank you! Edit: Nevermind, it does still crash, but not as often. Sometimes it successfully switches to horizontal or vertical, sometimes it just gives up.

Great and all, a lifesaver, but might need some adjustments. So, my life is very packed and full, and every time I want to write something, I usually use google docs. It makes life so much easier that I don’t have to use my laptop to write when I have this great mobile app. The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because there are more functions on the computer version than there are on the app. For example, on computers you can indent and such. However, I can’t indent on the app. Also, I love it, but I wish there would be an easier way to sort everything, like a folder or something. There probably already is something like this, or I just didn’t find it yet. Compared to Microsoft word, google docs is a worthy competitor. Microsoft has more functions, but google docs are free and Microsoft costs.. I don’t even know. I wish they would add a way to insert charts and text boxes onto a doc. However, compared to word, I like it better because you can collaborate/work with friends while on Microsoft word, it is much harder. I like google docs.

Hello Google!. Hello Google, I use Docs a lot and I would like to recommend some stuff to improve your app. Docs is a lovable writing app/website that thousands if not more use on a daily basis. The mobile app has its issues with delayed writing sometimes and the text colors mess up and overall look the same dim color so new color options would be nice! The website has a wide variety of colors you can use while the app is just every color but dim so it looks the same, I’m not saying I don’t like the color but it seems kinda repetitive when I like to change the words on my doc. My second issue with the app is it’s overall lack of fonts, the lack of fonts really break my game’s heart compared to the website which has a large selection that you can choose from. The fonts all look the same with barely any changes which isn’t bad but you know… I just would like a more open variety to choose from. I enjoy docs as a writing platform so being creative with things is something I quite enjoy, I like using fonts to spice my things up to make them look interesting. I love fonts, I like how creative you can be with them so adding more is a definite thumbs up.

How I feel about Google docs. Personally I use Google docs for just about everything and anything or use it for school things so if I need to write a paper I tend to use this more than Word, or if I am like doing pictures for like a slide or something like that and I want to see which ones I like more where I just want to save them on my computer I don’t tend to save them to my computer I tend to put them on a Google doc and just transfer them over to slide. I really do recommend Google docs for kids or adults who are in middle school high school and even college I know my parents they use Google docs when they were in college and they’re 40 something and they went to college and they were like 35 but they use Google Docs a lot too and yes Word has some features that Google doc doesn't however, Google doc has stencil type things for Google slides and it helps a lot.

Love the app! Just one suggestion that would help many writers that use the app.. I use this app for school and for personal reasons. It is an amazing app I have never had a problem with this app. The one thing I want to suggest though is that there should be a note section somewhere like the comment section but instead of comments it’s for notes. So like if you think that something should be written down on it but don’t have the time for it right away you can put that in the little note section so you don’t forget . Now obviously you can use the note section for other reasons. Like for me and probably many other writers that use the app it would be nice to have a note section so we could write down things that would be nice to put in the books next chapter or something like that. I would love if there would be a note section I would write in it multiple times and it would just be so wonderful to have. Thank you all who read this for your time! Have a great day!😁

Improvements for mobile app. I love docs, I do, but in the mobile app I often get so frustrated with the fact that I can’t tab text to the column I’m trying to work with and when I work in Docs on the desk top and then want to continue on the mobile app when out and about all to often the tab functions I used while in the deck top are all screwed and Mia aligned in the mobile app. In order to realign the text I have to space over to where I want and then when I get back to the file on the desk top the doc is all messed up. It’s now getting so frustrating, that I’m now looking at other software I can Irma’s in the cloud the accomplish my work. Google, if you do actually read this, which I truly doubt, you should fix this. I can’t believe you haven’t caught this yourselves, but given your poor connection to and lack of customer facing people for human help and assistance. I shouldn’t be surprised.

I use this app a lot. I write original works and fan fics, and this app lets me work on them at any point. Just waking up and I have an idea, just hopping out of the shower, in the line at the store, lunch break, moments of clarity while gardening, you get the point. Since the first time I’ve used this app, to the many years later, I have stopped worrying about forgetting some idea I had before I get to my computer. Even if my phone is offline, I have been able to work on my stories. I think it really is my most used app on my phone. Also, because it auto saves, I HAVE NEVER HAD MY STORIES DISAPPEAR! Unlike other writing programs, that have lost me hours of work because of a blue screen, freezing, or other issues, I have never had the pain of opening a Google Doc and finding all my work gone. I do wish it had a better way to organize your files, as what it does have seems “meh.” But, at least, it has some form of organization. Lastly, I love that I can share the doc in various ways. This has been so helpful for me when I comes to sharing my stories. It lets those who are my beta reader comment and make suggestions, those who I wrote for have full access, and those who I want to let just read all have their own set of restrictions.

Fantastic with some suggestions. I love the way docs works because it saves your data constantly and it doesn’t glitch on you and it provides you with so many ways to type notes for school, writing, and much more. I do have some suggestions to make the work flow for taking notes easier though. When it comes to fonts, there are specific ones I like to use for notes, but it becomes a pain to have to go back and switch it to the font you like instead of the default Ariel. The same goes for the headings and other text variations. They default to Ariel instead of the font that you were using before hand. Another suggestion I have is to make a keyboard short cut for the horizontal line. That would make dividing sections of writing way easier. The last suggestion I have is to also make a key board short cut for the list option styles. For example, I don’t like using the default dot style for the list. I like using the star one because it makes the list more interesting to look at. So instead of defaulting to the dot style it could default to the style of list that you were using before hand. For example, I would be using the star style of list and then I would section that list off with a horizontal line and then begin to start a new list that would then default to the star style. In general, maybe you guys could make google docs more customizable or at least have let it have the option to be more customizable with custom keyboard commands for different things.

Look no further. If you are looking for an alternative to Microsoft Word that is free and has pretty much all the same features we know and love… This will work great for you. I wasn’t sure how I felt initially about it being an online app thing. But you can download docs to your own pc to save and export, etc, even open in other programs I believe. So that’s been helpful. You can also save individual documents to be available on docs if you are disconnected from the internet. I also really like that you can share the document with anyone by invite and can change permissions for those people from viewing only, leaving comments in bubbles, and even leaving correction suggestions, or even just letting them edit the document directly. Good options if you are working on a group project, or want people’s advice without them changing anything you don’t want them to!!! There’s lots of other features that I simply haven’t even explored, but heck, it’s nice. And the UI is mostly intuitive, so if you can’t find something, it might just be somewhere weird or called something a bit different. So google is your friend. Because more likely than not it IS a feature they have, and you just can’t find it. Hopefully. That’s been the case for me anyway. I hope this helps you with your decision! Enjoy!

Good for the most part. Google docs is a fantastic website to use to get work done. It auto saves, allows collaboration, and has so many other features. The app, however, lags so much when typing that you can type a sentence or phrase and reasonably expect to wait another 10+ seconds before it finishes typing. And this is on a doc with only one person on it. Imagine the frustration when multiple people are on it! And if you think it’s done typing and go to fix an error earlier in the sentence, it will continue typing in the middle of the sentence (even though you finished typing several seconds prior). Another problem with it is the inability to copy and paste MLA citations in it. If I’m working on an essay and need to make a bibliography, I’ll copy the formatted citation from an online citation maker, paste it into google docs, then have to manually readjust the spacing to make it correct. While you can just paste it into Word and go, you can’t with google docs, which is frustrating, especially when you’ve got 15 sources to format manually. (This is a problem with the website on a computer, too.)

Amazing! Just one(ish) thing... As a writer, google docs is my go to whenever I want to brew up a story, create a new character, or just write down little ideas for things. It’s amazing, works wonderfully and smoothly... on my laptop anyways. The only problem I have with it in my laptop is that if a document gets long enough it will have the tendency to lag and be extremely slow, but other than that it’s completely fine. On mobile however, it’s just a mess. It takes forever to load, documents take forever to load, it crashes, and overall it’s just incredibly slow. It’s useful and helpful to have on my phone to LOOK at stuff that I have on docs, but to actually attempt to write there? Yeahhh, I’ll stick to my computer thanks... there’s also the fact that in general it tends to say that certain normal words are wrong, but I could write in something totally made up and wacky and it’ll be completely fine...? So yeah. It’s wonderful otherwise, but honestly it’s best used on a computer only. I highly recommend either way.

It’s insane how much I use this app. I’m a multi form writer, meaning I do more than one type, motion scripts, comic scripts, regular novel type writing and essays. And I cannot tell you how much a love this app. I have everything at my fingertips constantly and usually it doesn’t get too burdened so hopping around from document to document is pretty easy, albeit sometimes a bit frustrating to need to scroll to find the bit of writing you’re wanting to use. Overall I do really love it, it’s simple, it’s accessible and pretty good when it comes to collaborative work. I do have one major issue though. Tab. You basically cannot add indentations on the app, yes, there is the option to move the text over but it’s not an indentation in the sense that it is used. I find I often need to go back in on my computer to add in all of the proper formatting and such. I don’t have many problems regarding crashes but I would appreciate a tab feature.

LOADED WITH BUGS!!. Won’t let me share the doc. It’s far too confusing. I just need to make a quick invoice to Zeus to someone and that’s it. It’s become a massive hassle. Download latest version of app and it’s loaded with BUGS. Do not count on this app to edit your documents. Commands such as “select” “copy” and “paste”. Do not perform right. If you can get select tool to finally select a paragraph and either copy or cut it no matter what commands you do from that point forward the app holds onto that selected text in its memory and you cannot do anything other than paste that selected text! If you try to select “new” text before you have even selected the text the app pastes the old text again. If you try to even report this as a big to developers by clicking on the link to report a bug you cannot because the window to write the feedback has just once again pastes the old text!! Yes again! It will not release this memory! It’s like it needs therapy or something! Lol. Do not count on this app to edit or retain your documents. Like many google products it’s failing. Google in general is going downhill. Don’t even try to use google nest cameras! That entire app crashes a hundred times a day! I’m done with google in Genetal. I’m sure their stock is declining rapidly too.

Great but crashes often and offline use is poor. I really wish I could give this five stars because it has been so helpful for my writing, but the offline use function is basically useless. I’ll select “available offline” for a document , and when I’m in an area where I can’t get Internet access, it will tell me that I can’t load that same document because I don’t have Internet access. I also dislike the way that if I’m working on something and go to another app for literally a few seconds, when I go back it will sometimes have taken me out of the document so I have to reopen the document and find where I left off. This wouldn’t be so bad except for when I don’t have internet access, it will tell me that I can’t access the document I was just using because I don’t have internet (again, even though I selected the “available offline” option). If they could just fix these two things, it would be perfect. I’m still giving it four stars because despite the bugs it has been invaluable.

Great, except.... Like most people of Generation Z, the later years of my education (8th grade-present) have greatly benefited from using Google applications such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Google Docs’s amazing accessibility, collaboration tools, storage, and auto-save have always been what’s made it better than competing office tools. The app itself is great, and once you get the hand of using it on a hand held device, it makes working from almost anywhere possible. I’ve found myself using these Google applications for more than just essays and presentations now a days, as I begin to need work resumés and finance budgets. So really, Docs (and other Google applications) are great! Except, I’ve encountered an issue when using this Docs app. Now, this could be because of several reasons, however, I’ve found that after prolonged used, when typing, the keyboard begins to lag a bunch, making working on documents so frustrating. At first I thought that the keyboard could be lagging because my iPad might’ve over heated? But, the keyboard has lagged even when the iPad doesn’t feel warm. I’m not sure if internet connection might have something to do with it, but my Wifi is pretty strong, and I rarely encounter issues with it. That’s my only complaint, but other than that I really do love the app.

It’s fun! (Hear me out). I sometimes come here when I'm bored because you can do more than you'd expect. Even though copy + pasting ASCII art doesn't work too well, you can kind of fix it by adding the appropriate amount of spaces where needed. (Devs please fix this) Also, if you’re on iPad, (like me) you can go to your browser, search up “d6 dice”, click the 3 dots at the top of your screen, press “slide over”, and then go to docs. If you do that, than now you’ve opened up a lot of possibilities! You can write up a dungeon adventure, each step chosen randomly by you dice. (digital of physical) I even wrote one my self in 6th grade! Looking back at it now, it wasn’t that great. I was in the 6th grade, after all. Im a much better writer now, partly thanks to Polly St. John Hughes, and also big thanks to google docs’s grammar and spelling correction system. (But seriously devs please fix the ASCII problem)

Highly recommend, just a few small complaints.. I honestly prefer google docs over Microsoft Word, and I’ve used docs for many years now and I loved it. I find it a lot easier to get through essays and other journaling much faster with docs because of easy access to different settings. Only complaint (for both desktop and mobile) is a few glitches it has. I mainly use docs on my laptop, and I’ve noticed a lot of the time when I first open a new document, it’s very slow trying to load and will sometimes completely stop working after typing a few words. Another thing, it’s a little frustrating not being able to edit the margin sizes unless you search “margins” in the Help tab. It would be much more convenient if there was a Page Setup tab. Those are small and not super important complaints, but I’m all about convenience and easy organizations!

Literally the sickest word processor ever. Endless back up. Never worry about “I forgot to save” again. Seamless transition between phone and computer (as just an example). The fact that everything is backed up in the Google cloud, is something as an artist or an author you must recognize as an invaluable asset, equivalent of investing in a safe stock. Google docs is hideously simple. It doesn’t have a lot of fancy features. But does it need those? I find myself not missing or wanting anything Scrivener provides anyway, because Google docs is just amazing. I feel really, really safe having my life work backed up on Google, because I know Google isn’t going to do something to mess up its servers. Getting Google docs gets you the Google reliability behind it, in my opinion. That’s invaluable. Imagine if you lost your work because Dropbox shut down.

50/50. I’ve been using google docs for 3 years now. Personally, I prefer the laptop as it is easier to type on, and type much more freely. But, on my laptop, accessing google docs, contains needing WiFi/service to type on / loading chrome or a web browser. By that, it’s not portable, or able to use on the go. I’ve used google docs on my iPad before, and I type pretty OK on my iPad, but not nearly as fast on my laptop. But you can use it on the go-to, but without WiFi. I’m pretty sure there isn’t the great ‘add-ons’ like the ones on computer, or laptop. Google docs, is a free, accessible great essential for any student of all ages. It’s great, it’s literally like word, but you don’t have to pay an expensive budget for it. Docs is just perfect for anyone, and it’s so great. Literally, they’re add on(s) for people who also need it. Highly recommend, all though it’s worldwide to schools, throughout everywhere. Google docs will always be a great essential.

A Decade and a Half of Reliability and Excellence. I have been using Google Docs as my primary documentation system for the past 15 years, and it has consistently exceeded my expectations. In all this time, it has never let me down. Google Docs is a robust and reliable tool that has seamlessly supported my documentation needs, whether for personal, academic, or professional purposes. For the “world’s most powerful search engine, you sure can’t build a user friendly document creator”. I love that google docs lets you share your document and work simultaneously with others. It’s very convenient in that regard. However if there were another option for that purpose, I’d probably switch over. There are so many things in google docs that make it way harder and more frustrating than it needs to be. You can’t put text over an image, it’s a million steps just to find where text boxes are located, you can’t paste something in from Microsoft Word without the formatting being destroyed, it’s hard to set a tab-stop that will stay there when you move on to a new line, there are cntrl shortcuts that work for other document creators but not for google docs, and it’s almost impossible to customize a document to look different or engaging if you’re trying to make a handout. I could go on. I’m in my early 20s so it’s not like I’m just tech-incompetent—google docs is just needlessly frustrating to use. It’s all made more frustrating by the fact that google is such a huge company; they have the resources to make docs better but for some reason they don’t.

Google did me wrong at the worst possible moment. You know how we all rely on google for turning in class assignments? Well... IT DID ME WRONG AT THE WORST POSSIBLE MOMENT!!! I take AP World History and had something due today and couldn’t get on it until this weekend but this week it was updated for a big fix that has going on for weeks now that is still going on!!! The app crashes at random times whether it’s long or short periods of time, and this week it’s gotten worse to the point I can’t even see my cursor when I type on my phone anymore and whenever I try to exit out of the page to refresh, I suddenly see two icons of my own account that was recently on the doc and and still see the cursor I recently used on my doc. I was copying and pasting my work from one box onto another but suddenly no matter how many times I double tapped on my screen, I couldn’t paste, forcing me to restart my phone and try again and once I got back on my doc, I realized I never pasted my paragraph back on the doc and now my work is lost until I can get on a computer tomorrow and search my version history and revive my lost work!! Sad to say, google can’t be relied on for everything especially when it’s been having a problem that gone unnoticed and unsolved for over 2 months now.

Changed my mind. I enjoy having this app. I can edit my documents, change fonts, etc. I can do a page set up, so I know how it will print. I like that I can use on OS and IOS. It all backs up. It all syncs. What I DO NOT LIKE, is it duplicates itself. It is in Google Drive, iCloud Drive, and if you make a folder. I took notes on my Spanish lessons. I have different documents for different lessons. 1. It moves the document is you edit, open etc. Depending on what you pick. However, if you want all the docs to stay in same order after editing it, it will not. You can put by alphabet, but it still moves docs around. I would like the option of them staying in the place I put them and if I want to move...be able to drag. 2. If you create a doc, it automatically goes to their Drive app if you have that app. So, I am deleting. I do not want on multiple places. 3. If you make a file folder on GOOGLE DOCS, it does not move doc to file folder, it just duplicates it. Again, I would like to be able to send to separate file folders and then delete from GOOGLE DOC, DRIVE, or wherever, and they stay in the file folder; the choice of keeping or deleting on any app and not loosing on the other. Or keep in one of other doc holders and delete from others. This is on the apps that file share. Nice to be able to send to another app or file, but should be able to delete from one without loosing from the other.

I’ve used it to polish up my resume, capture notes and ideas, record song lyrics, journal my dreams, create schedules, write stories, and more! The sharing features are fantastic; my sister and I co-authored a novel using Google Docs! We can edit and read each other’s work in real time, leave comments and suggestions, and use the chat to stay on the same page. Google Docs is THE essential writing tool for creative and practical uses — plus it has cloud storage that makes it seamless to work on your projects from any device! I’ll often be working on a story on my computer and move to my phone for edits, or pull it up to add an idea quickly while on-the-go. There’s also free templates to chose from that helped me format my resume and other official documents. I love Google Docs, and it definitely earned those 5 stars. I suggest it to anyone looking for a modern word processing application that is catered to usability and will exceed your expectations.

great app, much needed improvements. I’m a writer and google docs has been my go-to platform ever since middle school, when I first learned to use the program. User-friendly interface, most things can be learned with nothing more than a quick tutorial online, and it does not come at the cost of a lack of quality or options. However, when you’re someone like me who is a frequent user, you end up having a lot of documents. In this case, organization becomes an issue. Scrolling through dozens of documents before I can find the specific story I wish to continue writing is an inconvenience and occasionally a tad annoying. I wish there was some sort of foldering ability in the platform to better organize different types of documents. Google Drive already has folders available, I don’t think it would be too hard to add it onto google docs as well. The folders in google docs could be separated from drive and exist solely on the docs platform. Or they could be connected to drive.

No complaints, good app. Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. I like this app. I’m bored though so im gonna write a completely illogical review, dont take the story seriously obviously So I was sitting at my computer using googledocs and SUDDENLY… The skeleton mafia burst open my door and shot me. It hurt a lot, so I jumped out the window, but then a weird creature began scuttling across the ground towards me. I ran and managed to evade the creature but then a white van pulled up, at first I thought it was Mrbeast but I looked closer and it was actually Brmeast, Mrbeast’s evil twin. I ran from his white van but he pulled out a Glock and shot at me. I kept running, but then the skeleton mafia found me again, and suddenly thr duolingo bird appeared and tried to kill me. I ran into the city but then all 3 of the factions chasing me began to have a shootout. I got shot 12 times but I put on a band aid so i was fine 👍 I entered a really tall building and climbed to the top, but then Sniper from TF2 headshotted me from 1000 miles away and I died instantly. 1/10 app, you will get hunted down and killed

Evil Nightmare App. I really wish I could just use this app on my IPad. I really like using my IPad and doing all of my school work on it— as I am in my master’s program. Well, it just doesn’t have the options for editing and formatting that I need on the app (tools on app are limited), but when I try to use the web version on Chrome it auto links to my app. I really enjoy the integration that is possible when having the Google apps downloaded, but I’m just not going to waste my time deleting and downloading when I need to make higher level edits to my paper. AND it’s such a hassle to save as a pdf on the app. So no app. But, then it makes the Google Docs app almost useless. When I try to use the interface or open a new Google Doc, it links me to the Apple Store to download Docs. It is driving my insane. The interface is so stupid. I’m getting irritated by how much time I have been dedicating to try to change the settings and comb through to see if I can’t change the way things are linking. I just can’t. I might altogether ditch the Google system. It was so close to working, but the Google Doc app just doesn’t have the tools it needs to be useable and the auto link to the app (or App Store) is truly infuriating.

Great for writing!. I love this app so much!! It’s great for writing, making lists, and more!!! But if your reading this this is a sign that Jesus loves you! So much. This life on earth is short and we are called to do everything for the glory of god!! And when we die we get to be in heaven! The place of paradise! Were nothing can hurt us and everything is perfect! God loves you so much and would break down a mountain to save you. All you have to do it believe. Trust. Have faith. Obey. Spread his GOOD WORD!!! Don’t be afraid to tell your friends about how great God is because your afraid they will think you are weird, because on judgment day, they’re going to be sent to eternal torture and they will look at you one last time and say, “why didn’t you warn me?” Please fear not because god has a good good plan for you... sometimes it’s hard, but everything’s going to be okay....pain is temporary, but god love is forever.

Spellcheck...Really?. Don’t bother using Doc’s spellcheck, as it is almost as good as having a third grader edit your paper. Sometimes it catches a few mistakes, but it doesn’t catch but a small fraction of what Microsoft Word finds (and will fix automatically, or at least notify you immediately that something is jacked up). Also, sometimes it seems not to work at all. I’m not sure if it’s a “lagging” issue, a glitch, like one person mentioned in a previous post, or otherwise. I also dislike the ability to format, as all features (in general) seem harder to use and are more problematic than Word. Am I biased because I used Word for a decade or so before Docs arrived on the scene? Probably, but I still think there are many fixes needed before this is a reliable and user friendly platform. I’ve spoken to people who believe several of my gripes are due to a connectivity problem, as we use Docs in my school to write essays etc., but I don’t know...it seems pretty frequent and we have issues often enough for me to complain to random strangers on this platform. Sooo, General Google, get on this please.

Great for short writing; struggles with longer works. I’ve been using Google Docs on my tablet ever since back when Textilus (now named Notes Writer + I believe) had a full makeover and became too hard to use. For further reference, my primary uses for Google Docs have been for various essays, idea jotting, and poetry, but mostly writing long fictional works for fun. Google Docs works well for the first few categories. However, it is very disheartening when I’ve been working on a story for so long only for it to be nearly impossible to scroll through and work on it without serious lag and crashes. Works around/above 10,000 works tend to struggle the most. Typing words can take several moments, with it lagging a few seconds between each letter being typed. Using Search and Replace on things like names I decide to change quickly causes it to crash. Selecting (executed with double tapping on my tablet) and deleting can be finicky as well. This, plus the lag that Google already gives me due to an overflowing storage (which I cannot seem to fix outside of its constant begging to get a subscription), makes writing not fun anymore. Google Docs is not a bad application. It is very good for what it is mostly meant for; business writing, joint writing (which worked well most of the time for when I used it), and short writing. I just miss being able to write lengthy stories, with the means to edit them in complex ways, without consequence.

Perfect for Educators. I love google docs for so many reasons . I can work on a document from anywhere around the world and from any device . It’s so convenient and allows me that flexibility that I don’t have in Microsoft Word. And to me Google is amazing because they still understand the need for Microsoft Word so they give you an option to save your files as a Microsoft Word document. But the real reason why I love Google Docs so much is because I am an educator and I have been using Google Docs as my whiteboard the same as I have in class. I share the document with my students. They can click on links for assignments. I can share notes with them and they can reply back to me. I also can comment on their work that they create in Google Docs and help them outside of school. Horrible bug -no way to contact. UPDATE: Second bug that affects productivity in a year. Highlighted text does not show word count. I guess because the app isn’t paid we have no recourse other than to send feedback (no response) and wait for a fix (two weeks and still waiting). This is a bummer that there literally is no one to contact. I am on docs all day for work and the app is my preferred method (dark mode) of saving eyesight. Incredibly disappointed in the lack of responsiveness. So the message boards are full of unhappy people who can’t work right now because of a new bug that causes text to disappear. We’ve all come to rely on this app for our work and writing, and now that it is essentially unusable (in the app, but the website is ok), we’re all scrambling. No number, email, or chat for support with google docs. My work and the work of many others has been disrupted. I use this app for the dark mode since I am on my ipad 14 hrs a day. It’s now impossible to use and so far there has been nothing done to fix it. I hope to get a developer response and a fix for this ASAP. I managed to have a chat with someone but it was for drive, not docs, so no help was given. I sent feedback and have gotten no acknowledgement either. It’s a nightmare.

Love it!. I love using google docs, I haven’t found a problem with it before, it’s easily accessible on all my electronics and it doesn’t take up storage on my phone. It’s also just really easy to use and you can work on documents without internet! But do you think you could make a dark mode? That’s pretty much my only advice.

Really, Really Bad App. This app is horrible. Unlike the version on the computer you can not chat with people when they are on the same doc, making collaboration impossible. This app has absolutely NO compatibility with hyperlinks. You can’t change the browser your link sends you to and also can not delete hyperlinks. You try to and it will either take you straight to the website OR it will stop and freeze instantly. When that happens, you can not use it until you swipe it up and go back in. Even then, once you do that it still won’t work. Horrible, Horrible app. Very Disappointed.

Line Spacing. Please make it available to iPads, iPhones and other touchscreen devices to be able to choose if there's going to be an extra space between paragraphs when you press enter. Because when I'm doing dialogue it puts another space in because it thinks it's another paragraph. But for some reason you can choose whether or not you can have this on computers but not touch screen devices. So please make this setting available to touch screen devices. It would be appreciated.

WOW, Just wow!. This app allows users to change fonts and highlight text for primary, high, and college students, as well as job applications. It displays word, sentence, letter, and paragraph counts. Additionally, the app offers various customization options such as adjusting font size, color, and style to cater to individual preferences. It also provides a user-friendly interface that makes it easy for users to navigate and access all the features effortlessly.

Almost Perfect 4.9/5. This app is amazing on computer - a bit harder to use on mobile devices but basically flawless otherwise. A suggestion for future updates: having a toggle option for the outline on the left hand side and within the document. For example, if I made a “Heading 1” and underneath I had 3 “Heading 2’s”, a toggle option would allow me to hide the “Heading 2’s” instead of having them all displayed at once. It would make things neater and easier to navigate.

ITS LIKE REALLY REALLY (i would write more really buttt not bothered/lazy) GOOOOOODDDD. I think you should DEFINENTLY but this if you need to like take down alot of notes and plus its really fun to sometimes send things to friends or family. I REALLY love the fact how there like a comment section and that makes it you can have a friendly chat about the doc. But i would also love it if there was more fonts like can you add the font bradley hand itc or kristen itc pretty please with a nightmare on top? But either way I LOVE IT I LOVE THIS THING and i hope continue to produce this doc and add amzing features✨

My Review (must read). This app is very useful for school, work etc. This app has many great features and is very helpful in multiple ways. The auto correct to help you make it look fancy with a different fonts there is many things you can do to make your work just a little bit extra I would rate this app 5 out of 5 I use this pretty much every day and it’s so helpful for me I would definitely recommend this app!!!

Just amazing to have cloud store document. I get use to this google document when I forced to switched from Microsoft word to G- doc. Eventually, I stared to like this and now it’s my full time tool to do my personal work as well as the studies . I am a blogger also I have back pain so I can’t sit long in a place so time to time I switch my work from laptop to mobile phone or tablet . I am a rider who love outdoor camping so I can do my work wherever I want . This is simply amazing.

Best thing in the world ever probably. I am honestly in love with google docs. It’s visually appealing, it’s easy to use, and most importantly I DON’T NEED A USB. Google docs saved my life. No joke. I can access all my files just under my Gmail. I don’t have to spend hours figuring out word, nor do I spend days looking for my assignment that I somehow misplaced and then have to redo the whole like 30 minutes before it’s due, and then not finishing and getting a 0 and failing a the class (only to find the lost assignment a few days later) and I don’t have to figure out how to put my things in the usb. Seriously, it’s perfect. And if you accidentally delete something, you can just open up history and revert it back. I love you google docs

Awesome. I use this app all the time! The only problem is that it glitches sometimes, but rarely. Going through the reviews, I can see people complaining about how it has flaws and it glitches—SO WHAT? Nothing is perfect! If docs is that bad, what would you use? Don’t expect the best app in the universe to be perfect! Anyway, what:s better than docs? If docs is “a horrible horrible app” then what would you use instead?

Input lag. Along with some other reviews here, I think that this app needs to be fixed. It is the best idea- a cloud, collaborative app that can be used in conjunction with google docs for computers. However the execution is terrible. When I am typing the app will be a full paragraph behind and I watch it slowly catch up to where I am at, which skips characters. When you click select all it takes 20 seconds to load and by then if you click anything it closes the doc or deletes all. The input lag is terrible. The features available are nothing compared to google docs online. You can’t resize images and the app is broke. Please fix

Change Language and Add 'wrong' words. I love Google Docs. One thing I do NOT love is the fact you can't switch the 'language' on the app. You can do it on the website version but not on the app. My app is stuck on American English. I do not live in America. I live in Australia, thus I use Australian (UK) English. It is frustrating as all being forced to change 'realise' to 'realize' or 'colour' to 'color'. There is also no way of adding a new word to Google Docs. Its a function that word has, it'll allow you to add a new word to your dictionary so it stops coming up wrong. I can't do that. Which is beyond irritating. You could at one point but can't anymore. It's particularly frustrating if you use foregin words or, like me, write fanfiction where unusal names are going to come up and they will always be wrong no matter how many times you attempt to add it it to the dictionary.

Awesome recommended -feedback. Its good for anything as your job and its good even i edited it and it was spectacular and change things and it can pick the words if you don't know how to but maybe you can try yourself and see how good this is for yourself and tell me why you think something is bad or good and special characters are allowed in conclusion its awesome above everything and if don't you try words Regards myself The end :)

wow. i totally reccomend this app for teachers, students and workers needed for their assignments. there is never any glitches and it works wonderfully without an internet source, meaning you could always do your work. Google docs allows me to be creative and arrange my writing, create graphs etc. Google docs also runs smoothly with free writing assistant Grammarly. i hope my message encourages you to try it out and believe what im trying to say about this remarkable app. keep up the good work google. 👏🏻👍🤗🤩

Amazing. I love google docs, I love writing stories and it is the best. Although, sometimes it does a red underline for a word which is spelt correctly and is in the right context. I would also suggest that you can make a option to turn it into a book set up (horizontal and the words reach the middle...etc.) but other than the correction thing, google docs is really good. Docs. A marvellous way of recording your written stories and then altering them as you need. I gave my friend who is going blind this app as she could no longer see to write up notes for the committees she is on. It is wonderful. She just records it. When she gets home she put a magnifying panel in front of her computer screen and makes alterations. Brilliant!

Devices Change Things. When I was on the laptop I had the image perfectly placed but after I visited it on my iPad which is around the screen size but about a couple millimetres different but where the picture was changed. You could put it back but after I left the doc the picture changed again and it’s really annoying because you would need to change it again. But it’s overall a great app for writing.

Love how generous google is in giving us a place to store documents. I really appreciate the generosity of Google in giving so freely a place for me to store my documents online. I really appreciate that. I would love to see their products be more child friendly though. Unfortunately there are no parental controls on their new pixel phone. This is where Apple has been responsible. It would be nice to see google make the internet a whole lot safer for kids as well by making it so much more difficult for kids to access porn, Maybe insist on all porn companies to have a completely plain entrance with no porn pictures. And to look to making this public space that we all enjoy more safer by blocking all nude images. I don’t see nudes when I go out shopping in public in real life and I would appreciate it if the internet had a little bit of an overhaul using some common sense and put up a more public friendly internet. Google, please be more responsible instead of bowing down to the big payload you get from porn companies so they can prey on children. All children should be freely given their right to enjoy their innocence.

Notification of this update as of 16th of January 2023.. I received no notification to update this Docs app for Google which recognises existing and previous document file history and format information in order to be able to open document file formats recognised by our common intermediate everyday apps such as Microsoft word, PowerPoint, excel, etc. & including all of Googles documents etc etc. I found out about this Docs app update required while I was manually browsing the Search for Apps app on my tiny iPhone SE, very old second generation. Please continue the great work keeping me updated on my existing and new Apple ID registered devices. Thank you & legitimate regard’s, 👋🥴💡

Amazing. Docs is an amazing up I can literally use it anywhere and it is so easy to use. I love the app and I also like how we can switch accounts so that we can have different documents for our school/ work/ personal life. The only thing is that I print my documents at my work and I have to convert every file to a PDF otherwise it changes how my Google Documents look when I have the hard copy. Other than that it is a great app with a lot of versatility.

Recommended. This app is fantastic, it is really easy to use and you can make changes to essays and documents while driving to sport. Along with this the sharing feature is very useful as you can share documents with peers or teachers for feed back with two clicks. Coming from a school which doesn’t provide office in which you can share docs like this. It’s much easier to share on google docs as oppose to email a word document, get it reviewed and then open it and save it and make changes. This app is almost flawless however I have one problem with it, I hate the way the formatting and text section is laid out. I would rather it be a button which drops down the specific tools needed. Example, I would prefer if it the letter icon would drop down all the text options (colour font ect) and another icon drop down the formatting icons. I know it isn’t possible to put those in one bar due to screen size but I do that that the icon idea would be easier to use.

This app is a good educational app!. This app is easy to use because you can edit and create story’s and brainstorm ideas I recommend you should try this if you read this or your getting this app but one thing I have to announce that you have to put your google account in before you use the app and if you have bad internet connection you can possibly have to do the verification again :( but I still think you should try it:)🤞🙂

Browser is better. The app is great for simple typing and editing but anything beyond that scope is difficult as the app is not very well integrated with the iPad cursor support. This wouldn’t be much of an issue, but when the app is opened in safari I am able to use all features that come in the desktop version of google docs. A lot of these features such as being able to use a cursor to select sentences and use desktop class editing makes google docs much easier just from the browser.

Good functionality, doesn’t pull live content. The app is pretty good, has a lot of functionality and does let me keep up to date on the go. However, it’s terrible at fetching new versions of documents. If my team and I are working from a doc, when I open it, it will never be the latest version, and you can’t manually get it to check for updates so you’re working from the latest version, you just have to wait for it to realise there’s an update which can sometimes take minutes. This is a glaring oversight on an otherwise good app.

Students Dream. This app allows me to access all my documents no matter what device, which is really helpful for students such as myself. If i do work on the school laptops, it is already on my Ipad! This is so great because not all brands and devices are compatible which is a huge pain. Thanks to this application, my geography homework will be in on time! I highly reccomend this app, it is compatible with gmail AND chrome!

Awesome for chatting!. As someone who has screen time across all texting platforms, communication with friends can be tough. What’s even harder is my best friends parents hate me, so my friend can’t use messages. Docs was the best solution! You can use @ to let them know, you can see what they say straight away, it’s so awesome. Oh and you can also use it to do schoolwork as well :)

Poor iPad performance. The app looks extremely promising however after weeks of usage google docs become extremely frustrating to use on the ipad. You cannot highlight over text, move images around, by default you are viewing not editing. Personally, I think the app was built around people using the touch screen rather than people using the magic keyboard. I would recommend uninstalling the app and using the web version to enjoy the full features of google docs.

It’s worth it!. Being a 7th standard student I have to make some notes or questions for practice which could help me in my finals. Even though our school provides question answers but still to have the best grades I try my best. I found many apps for making documents for my finals but still I didn’t find something like that. Thanks for making it easier for me!

Google Docs are great guys!. I highly recommend using google docs as a writing tool. I use it for writing essays, novels, and simply planing life. Google docs help me sort my work into segments and focus on what I need to do. Plus you can also use google docs on your phone! The on the go version is an amazing tool as I am a busy person and when an idea pops into my head I can put it straight into my document! Again I highly recommend! It’s amazing!

✨Amazing!!✨. Google classroom is great! 💗 i use it for school, its very handy for really anything! The only thing I don’t really like is that for mobile users you can’t move pictures around, other than that it’s wonderful you can do anything!!! I totally recommend for home schooled children! It’s easy and you can do things just in one click!

Crashes and lags. Ok, so I have a massive document that I’m always on, if I can actually try to type without the app crashing first the lag is so severe that I’m typing and it takes up to ten seconds to respond for each letter meaning that I will have typed an entire sentence before it actually does anything and then it might just crash anyway before it loads. Although this problem is only really for one document that has an obscene amount of pages it is really annoying since it’s my main document.

Great in General. Personally I think this is a good app, except there are abilities in the website I wish were in the app, such as transferring ownership of docs. Another feature I wish was in the app is being able to go to wherever your friends are in a click of their profile( which only shows when they're online). Me and my friends are trying to write a book so there are a lot of pages. We find docs helpful in general and very useful, too.

Great app. By far my favourite document editor thingy. I do just wish that we could save the current text style, as well as set default text styles, like we can on the desktop version. (If this is already possible, please let me know, I’d love to know 😊) There are also just a few very minor visual things that I’d like to mention. I cant imagine they’d be overly difficult to fix, though I’m not a developer myself. - The top bar on the main menu is off centre (the gap on the left is bigger than on the right) - I like in light mode that the bar at the top of the document and the document background are both white, but it bugs me that in dark mode the document background is black yet the top bar is dark grey! Why oh why must you do this to me? 😢😢😢

Only one downside but it gets very annoying. Trying to open a google doc from Facebook messenger on iPad is a pain. Even with google docs installed on my iPad Pro, iOS is too dumb to open the document with the app. Instead, it opens up the App Store to download.... Please fix this. It’s very annoying. I think iOS is a solid operating system but this is just pure stupidity and it really breaks my workflow.

Good app to use. The Google Docs app is easy to use and it is a great way to access your documents when you are offline. The offline mode is my favourite part of the app. However, there is one thing I would like to see in future updates. I have an issue on my iPad where I cannot quick scroll through my documents, which is really annoying especially for long ones. Overall, it is a good app and I recommend using it. Although the laptop browser version has more capabilities, this is a good backup or substitute.

The best word processing document available yet has its limitations. If there was a star rating of four and three-quarters, I would have selected that. But there are several functions that are lacking that prevent a perfect score. They are as follows: Page numbers don’t allow for appendixes (i.e. Having the choice to have Roman numerals for foreword etc.), Having more than two choices for when Headers begin to appear on each page of the documents (i.e. I’d prefer to have Header begin after the contents pages, title page etc.), Have the search results in ‘Help’ to be more accurate, intuitive etc. (It rarely provides information pertinent to respective request). Pretty minor issues in comparison to the ease of functionality and high standard of processing and performance that provides applications far beyond other free and paid-for word processing platforms. Excellent.

Author’s perspective. As an author without Microsoft Word, this is the next best thing. Pages Mac OS doesn’t seem to have the same settings and format styles, but Google docs seems to be the right styles, and it’s easier to use for book formatting and writing. The next best program would be Adobe InDesign, which I have, being a graphic design student, but it’s not a mobile and portable app. Google Docs can be used on computers and mobile devices online and offline.

The perfect writing tool. Originally, I used pages to write my things and I still do write stories on it today. Then, one of my friends introduced me to a program called google drive, which was amazingly useful for some of the things I do. But there was one problem about it, I could figure out how to write on it. I searched through the whole app, and then in the corner I spotted, google docs. It became such a useful writing tool for things that I want to share!!

Good, but sometimes laggy.. I use this app all the time. Then the other day it started glitching and all of the comments I added started to disappear. Then the app kicked me out. From then onwards, it always lags and kicks me out of the app. Even when I update it, it still doesn’t work. This is a great app, but it sometimes glitches.

Amazing, but one flaw. If you see this review, please consider that this is an absolutely great app! It’s got all the features, including auto save, word count, print a document, fabulous fonts, and many more! The thing is, it is hard to use on iPad, as I have to press the button many times. most stupid app ever. UGH. THIS STUPID THING DOESN’T WORK PROPERLY AND IS SO FRUSTRATING! 1) It glitches and recently it refused to let me open a doc which was an important assignment for school. Luckily, I was able to open it on the safari version and continue working on it. But still, regardless of the fact that I modified it and made a copy, it still wouldn’t open on the app version. I have had to delete and reinstall it multiple times. 2) Whenever I’m in a group document, nothing I do can be seen on my classmate’s screens. We all tried restarting the app and my friend eventually completely turned off her iPad, but it still didn’t work. 3) What’s with the lack of fonts and tools? This app is so lame. There are barely any features. It is nothing compared to Word. And not to mention it’s difficult to move and crop photos. Seriously, how hard is it for Google to make a decent word app? So please Google developers, actually put effort into your applications. This app is truly mediocre and I’m sad its actually required for school. Disappointing.

Can Be Really Annoying. This app can be really annoying to use, especially on iPads. On iPads, I usually cannot move or change the size of the pictures that I put in. It is a lot more limited than something like Microsoft Word, and isn’t nearly as good as editing grammar, punctuation, or suggesting edits to do with grammar. It can sometimes glitch and when you are using it for work or school this can irritate me a lot. Although to be fair, it is reasonably easy to use when you are not adding images or any other things like that. On laptops it is a lot easier to use because it is set out differently and has more actions. It is simple when sharing documents with other people and is good for when you just want to type up a simple document with nothing to complicated to add into it.

Glitch.. In the beginning, or rather when I began using this app, it was great. Since that time it has become increasingly more unstable. It glitches, shutting down mid-typing and then doesn’t even save the work (even after I’ve clicked the ‘done’ tick. It happened repeatedly in the space of ten minutes and I have rewritten the same sentences too many times. I’m hoping there will be some updates to this as soon as possible because I have been predominately using this for my work on my laptop and as it’s collaboration work it’s imperative to be used on google drive until the project is finished. If it continues, I can only recommend switching to OneDrive (I use this for my other teaching job) as it does not seem to have this issue.

A very annoying bug. There is this really annoying bug that basically makes files impossible to work on It involves word files, and if you copy them and work on them and go out of the file, the file will say and error occured’ and you can’t go back in and edit again, which is really annoying and must be fixed. There is also a bug related to this which makes the whole page shift and typing past that line will result in the words being invisible but still there. I lost a bunch of my work because of this - please fix

Great but wish for a few extra features. Great app I use it daily to write but would be great if there was an option for a lock as I don't really want anyone seeing what I write. would love it if I could access the version history through the app instead of through my computer and it gets very glitchy when the writing is long (I write fanfic so I have quite a few long stories and it sometimes can take a while to write more) and folders/files, it would be good to be able to separate the documents by each show instead of colour coordination

Amazing app!. I actually use it at school and at home, and it’s absolutely amazing! I don’t know what I would do without it! Plus, you can use it offline, unlike many other apps like this one. Once, I was doing online learning school, when I couldn’t do any work because there was no internet. Docs saved me because... well you know. 🤩🤪 I highly recommend getting this app,!! The only thing/ problem is that, well, there is no problem. An that is a problem because there’s no point in writing this thing cuz everyone would say this apps great. 👍 100%!!!💯

Impractical for IOS use. Don’t recommend if you only have an iPad!. Google docs works well on the laptop browsers, however IOS usage is another story. When my laptop I had used for google docs was destroyed, I felt nervous about continuing use of docs on my iPad that I already had. After using the app edition for several weeks I can confidently say, it needs much improvement. For starters a lot of the core laptop functions are either missing or hard to access such as the margin function and bullet point functions I.e changing the bullet symbols, sub bulleting etc. Another major annoyance is the single page format (everything is continuous as if it is one page) - it’s impossible for large documents to add numbers, see the proper format of the page etc. AND I have not been able to change my table of contents to update it. Additionally, overall this is a hard to use platform which should not be the case. The iPad screen size is only a fraction smaller yet the system is buggy, laggy and just hard to use. As a viewing platform this is an ‘ok’ app, but for the many users who don’t have laptops, you need to improve the interface and systems of this application to make it easier to USE.

Slowest app on the planet. Whenever I use the app there’s a huge lag between when I type the words and when they actually appear on my screen, so much so that it renders the app practically useless. Please fix this. (Note: this has nothing to do with my connection as I can stream Netflix at high quality with no lags on the exact same wifi, which I tested when docs was lagging so it’s not that my wifi was bad only when I used documents either)

Needs to be updated. Recently apple has updated the iPads software to support keyboard and mouse. With this i think the docs app should behave more like the desktop/web version. I have switched to using the docs website in safari since it allows for proper use of my mouse and ultimately has a better layout. And while this has been fine most of the time the constant pop ups asking me to get the docs app and the fact that when I open a doc it automatically takes me to app is annoying. With google being all about choice let the user choose to use your software in the way that best suits their needs, even if that doesn’t mean using your apps or buying a Chromebook. I would just delete the docs app but printing from docs on safari comes with a mess of formatting issues. Also certain features just dont work. So either update the docs app for use with a mouse or stop telling me to download it every time I open a document. I really do enjoy your services and will take down this comment when my issues are resolved.

Still no way to insert line breaks.. There is still no way to do what every other text-editing capable app on iPadOS and MacOS have been able to do forever, which is insert a line break by hitting shift+ENTER (or any other way). You can do this on a web-based version of Google Docs on any platform (except iOS and iPadOS) and you can do this in Pages, Notes, etc. Line breaks are as fundamental as a hard return. It boggles my mind that Google still hasn’t gotten around to adding them.

What's the fuss about?. Google docs is equivalent to MSWord. Google sheets is equivalent to MS Excel. They can be stored and collaboratively edited on google drive. The google doc app for a smartphone let's you view and edit docs on that device, not the best place to do that but better than not being able to do it. In my experience, docs, sheets, and drive work quite smoothly across devices. So what are people complaining about? No superscripts? No chemical formulas? Really? That's an issue for most people?

Links from email don’t work. Every time I get a link to a google docs file in my email, it goes to the app download on my iPhone - despite the fact that i already downloaded lodes google docs. Then when I click open it opens google docs but not the file. So I basically can’t use it on my iPhone.

Great, but very slow. I used to love this app. Free, easy to use, checked off multiple boxes for everything I could want from MS Word. HOWEVER, if you are writing a large document for work, it will start to type at a snail’s pace. It was faster typing on any other app than Google Docs, with one letter appearing in the document almost every second. You have to move the cursor to another line and highlight a paragraph? It will move just as slowly, crawling up the entire way. The method I use to get around this is to close the document, and restart the app; but it only works for an hour or so before the slow typing happens again. Restarting my IPad doesn’t help either. This shouldn’t be such a trial, literally extending my time working just to restart the app this often.

Picture wont show up on desktop when inserted through phone. Okay so when covid first started and I was in school, a lot of my teachers wanted me to take pictures of my work. For example if I was in art, I’d need to take a picture of my drawing. Id take said picture and attach it into the google doc using the insert image feature. However, this is where the problem started. I’d attach my work in the doc (using my phone) and my teacher would say it wasn’t submitted. Because of this my grades started dropping. Of course i was like “what the heck?” And when I’d look at the document on desktop, it’d be blank. Like I hadn’t added the picture at all. And this happened continuously even when I spoke to my teachers about the issue. Of course this made it 10 times harder to insert my class work that needed a picture into google docs BUT FOR PETES SAKE PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM!!! I don’t know if it’s because the document was added to my google classroom assignment.. IDK but thanks a lot. 💀

Using the Google voice we are lifted out of the nest to fly and verbally effortlessly pour out the story, directly thoughts to heart.

Terrible for iPad. Don’t get me wrong, I like google docs. It’s very easy to collaborate and share amongst others, and there are plenty of useful templates. That’s where my favor ends. Let’s start with the overall features. There are way fewer capabilities than on the website. There are so many things that I need to do that simply cant be done in the app. Next we move on to the support of accessories. I use a 2018 iPad Pro with the new magic keyboard that has a trackpad. On virtually all other apps there is built in cursor support, not on google docs. What I mean by cursor support is the cursor adapting to what its scrolling over. For example in other apps if you go over text the cursor changes to a text selector. It is a nightmare to select text on google docs. here are also no built in command shortcuts for the app. It’s also worth mentioning there is no trackpad or keyboard shortcut support for ANY of the Google suite of apps. Google could’ve made this app so much better but they simply haven’t.

Great for On The Go Lifestyle. Kid you not, I'm a 21 unit university student, working full time this semester. Having this app on my iPhone has saved my grades, as I don't have to carry my macbook around to finish up my papers and such. I just write a paragraph or two during my lunch hour, or during a bathroom break (don't kid yourself that you don't do it too lol), or whenever I have a few minutes to spare, and by the end of the day, I've already finished up my paper(s) while I was running around at work, doing errands, etc. I saw Thor in theaters with a friend of mine and decided to write whatever I could for an industrial health course I'm taking in that one sitting during the previews. I was able to get half of my paper done right before Thor began! When I got home, I only had to spend an extra 15 minutes on it, then I turned it in. Great use of time! I love this app!

Very great, few problems. I use it whenever I write, whether that is writing stories or coming up with resumes. It’s easy to use on phone, but not as many features. It is a great app, very straightforward to use. Most of my homework has been on google docs, so even with years of using it, I still find it a very nice app. Page display could be better, there should be a setting where I can see the app in pages like I would on a computer. Another thing I noticed is when you click on links (either in a document or built into the app), it opens a website no matter what your phone settings around browsing the internet are, this giving you unrestricted web access. However, other than that, I find the app very useful and easy to use.

PLEASE READ. Love this app but I have a couple issues with it. First of all, me and my friend like writing stories on stuff, talking about our feelings so it doesn’t disturb anyone in the group chat (they’re not allowed to talk outside of one.) And it’s really cool and all, but I NEED NOTIFICATIONS. PLEASE. I want notifications for like when the documents have been updated by other people. Secondly, the app is too glitchy. When me and my friend go to type, it gets glitchy and it’s only me and them. Just two people editing one document. Please fix that. I need updates people updates. This is much more efficient than notes, and since I can’t talk outside of a group chat with my friend, texting at 7:00am gets on their mother’s nerves so this was a great download. All I ask is that you please fix those things. And one more thing. PLEASE MAKE IT EASIER TO SHARE A DOCUMENT! I never figured it out and I sat there for an unruly amount of time trying to. Eventually my friend figured it out but they couldn’t remember exactly how they did it. So please fix everything on this list: •glitch when typing with someone •notifications for updated documents •easier to share documents Thank you! Please please please update this. I do look forward to using this app in the future.

It’s amazing, but please add more author friendly settings!. I could be completely missing where the setting is located, but if it doesn’t exist please add some more user friendly settings for page dimensions. I have loved google docs for writing and that has been my only issue; having to change the page sizes manually. It would be much more streamlined to have some point and click options for more common book page sizes to better gauge page numbers for a book. Also being able to see how many pages it is in the app would be great so I don't have to go all the way back to the website and open it there. Overall, though, love google docs and will definitely continue to use it.

Very useful but I have a suggestion. I remember using this app on my phone a lot, writing and stuff. it is fairly useful when I want to write on the go, or I don’t have my computer on me for some reason. However, I want to make a suggestion. I know it is mainly IOS’s fault for this, since I cannot seem to do it anywhere, but please add some sort of option for us to indent (if there is one, then let me know, but Ive seen others complain about this). It would make writing smoother and easier if we had this option. I am a little surprised there has not been one added at all yet (based on my knowledge, its been years). A little button (if you cannot add it to the keyboard) off to the side would do. That is all. If indenting was added then that would be cool.

Been using for awhile now.. Okay, so a few years back a dear friend showed my docs on my computer. We co-write (rp) together, and it gives a great place to do that since you can share with anyone else using docs. The grammar and spelling check is really nice, and the auto save feature is great! The reason the app gets four and not five stars is because the phone app itself has issues with larger docs(like 30 pages, I think) and won’t load well after that point. I understand why though, and am not actually bothered by it too much since I still have a computer, but I do have to notice which documents ARE that large, because it’ll sometimes it freezes up my phone(needing a restart). The phone app is also a bit more complicated to navigate than the computer version, but it is easy enough.

Great, but crashes.. This is a great app, especially if you would like to do some book writing, right? I’ve been using google docs since sep. of 2023, and I haven’t had any problems at all, and I still use it, and it’s great. But when I use the find and replace feature, it kicks me out of the app and sends me to the Home Screen. I’ve also noticed that it only happens when my book starts to get a little long, it happened to me today while using the app, and I’m only on chapter nine of my book, with some short chapters. I tried to look it up and see if maybe there was any information on why it was doing that, and it basically told me that when there is to much on the doc, it tends to be too much for the system or something and crashes. So if you could please fix this problem, it would be great. Thank you so much.

I like Google Docs. I use Google Docs for all my essays in class [on computer] and for other projects but the iOS version does not live up to it. I use an iPad Pro and it’s very hard to navigate through a document. Also the find and replace option either does not work, or is basically impossible on finding out how to work. I’ve tried countless times to use it over the past few months and have given up by either manually replacing the word or using my computer instead. Edit: all of these have been fixed and the app is awesome now! It’s very easy to use when I have no access to a computer. One thing that needs to be added to the app and computer version though is a dark mode! Sometimes I like writing in the middle of the night and a dark mode would make it much easier to do that.

Not Quite Adequate — Especially for Real-Time Collaboration. Do you want to type stuff into a Google Doc that other people can read later? This is fine. Do you want to edit documents other people have created? This will do it. Want to do that collaboratively while several of you are sitting around a table? Put away your iPad and go get a laptop. This app has significant deficiencies. Suggestions and comments are entirely divorced from their location in the document. Other features are similarly hobbled. The enormous list of “Recent” documents is useless. Creating a new document doesn’t even put it at the top of the list. That new document goes right at the root of your Drive, by the way, with no option to create it exactly where you want it. The only way to keep things organized is through a long series of taps to move your new document to the desired location. The modal Edit/View interface is enormously frustrating. I don’t really like using Google Docs on a traditional computer. Using it on an iPad is worse.

CRASHES WITH NEW IOS 11 UPDATE!. I use google docs all the time, so I’m really hoping you guys fix the bug that won’t allow us to open docs once we update to IOS 11. I updated on my IPad Pro can’t open docs, I didn’t update on my iPhone 6s yet, I can open docs fine like normal.. please fix this or I’m going to have to uninstall you. Most every other app has already fixed their issues with the new 11 update.. I waited a few days to see if google would update and so far, well your behind everyone else. Now I can’t use my IPad when I need to the most, but am inconvenienced and have to use my phone. If people have 2 devices I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ONLY UPDATING ONE AT FIRST ! Because some haven’t fixed bugs, and you won’t be able to use their app, not with this update. It really stinks for those that depend on services using one device. But hopefully a better product will be replacing google soon anyway.

A game changer!! I Love It!!. Google docs is amazing and is a real game changer! I use it for all different things- to keep track of notes to myself, to type up things I want to print later, to have a place to cut and paste things. I also have used it very successfully to share documents with others, individuals or groups/committees, so that multiple people can add to or edit a document. This came in hugely helpful when I chaired a charity event last year. Everything my committee needed was on Google Docs, so we were all on the same page and very organized. I also appreciate updates that have been made, such as better formatting options. All in all I have found it extremely useful and helpful and have not had any problems with it. Two thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻

Good on a computer, not a phone.. I love using Google Docs for school projects to my personal projects. It’s easy, simple, there’s not much to it and it makes sense. On my Google Chrome computer it works great. Everything is clearly there and it has an easy out. I can find every tool I need and every question I have I can find that answer to right there. On a computer it’s wonderful, on a phone though, that’s a different story. I have an iPhone 11 and using Docs is so frustrating. It feels like there are so many tools, features, and just basic things missing. I can’t seem to find them. Now I’m sure if I really looked hard enough I could find these things but the layout and structure of Docs on my iPhone is confusing. I also like to use an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard when I write using Docs on my phone and it dosent seem any better than if I just typed on my screen which I hate doing when I’m writing. Overall I think Google Docs is a great, easy to use app for professional projects or just something on your own. The app is clear cut and clean. I only ever like to use Docs on my computer though because the layout and design of it is WAY better than on a phone. On my iPhone 11 the Google Docs app is messy, confusing, and just over all frustrating. I like this app a lot, only on a computer.

Editing/Commenting a Nightmare!!. I’m a hobby artist, so I recently decided to ditch my personal laptop in favor an an iPad and iPencil (I still have a work laptop). The Google Docs App, though, has made this transition incredibly difficult! First, Google blocks access to the browser version of Google Docs if you are using an iPad. Nevermind that the screen is the same size as my old MacBook. Nevermind that I have a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The Google Docs app is my ONLY option for accessing google docs from my iPad. And unfortunately, the App is not an adequate replacement. The toolbar is pared down, and much harder to navigate. It took me forever to figure out how to change the setting for link-sharing, so that anyone with the link could edit. And the “suggest changes” function is incredibly clunky. The changes all show up as “hidden suggestions” or “hidden comments”, and the person viewing them has to laboriously click every individual suggestion and “view suggestion.” It’s also very difficult to do anything other than “accept” or “reject” once you have found a suggestion. If the suggestion requires more nuanced editing, forget it! Overall, the app works in a bind, but it is not a very intuitive app and it is a very inferior product to the browser version! Please consider a redesign Google, or at the very least allowing the browser version to be accessed in-browser on an iPad!

Google Docs is a My Dream Come True. My personal computer is a Mac and I use it a LOT for work. At work our computers are all HP. For years I have spent countless hours trying to convert documents so that they are readable on each device, wasting precious time. I also use notes on my phone a lot and then always have to copy, paste to an email, send to my computer, paste to a word document on my computer, etc... thus a long process. With google docs, i can work on the same project from my phone, personal computer, work computer, tablet, heck anyone’s device because it is all saved and it is all right in front of me! I agree with another review that the option for folders would be nice, but I’m seriously just so happy to be able to work on all projects in the same place!

Okay. I’ve been using Google Classroom for a few years by now, and although Google Clasroom is main place where all of my classes are located and it does make it easy for me to access certain things, Google Classroom takes awfully long to load for certain things (eg. Missing assignment tab or some classes) and even a certain glitch in witch it says the classroom is unavailable and I get kicked out, although I have clearly been enrolled in that classroom previously. Today I was working on an assignment and was kicked out unexpectedly from my page. Upon loading back into clasroom and into the assignment, I had come to find out that all of my progress had been lost that I had worked on for an hour or so. Please fix your auto save, and everything else.

The best for anything!. Google Docs has been the most useful app for me to be able to create multiple pages of Stories, Characters, Poems, and more! This is often the go to app for schools. It’s very simple to be able to share it to others like teachers or other students for projects, and that’s not the only limit since I use it when sharing with friends. I use this both in the computer and with my iPad. With google doc just logging in to your account is very quick and it holds all your data for you so you don’t need to worry which is a great relieve! I hope that this app stays on forever because I won’t be able to find another app like this, being free as well. If there were any recommendations I also like Google Slides although it’s a bit harder to use on the go. Sincerely, Google Doc User.

Great App But One Major Issue. I feel like it’s easier to format documents on docs than on other apps like word. I love the app and appreciate the fact that it will save things automatically for me, so if my iPad sporadically dies after an hour-long writing session and I don’t get to press save, it’s already saved for me, so there’s no problem there. My only problem is the keyboard. I don’t type incredibly fast, but my keyboard will “jam” up and even after I’ve typed a whole sentence, it’ll take up to an additional thirty seconds to finish typing out on the doc. And when my sentences get too long, the app will crash. Again, thank goodness for the auto save! But it’s frustrating to have to wait for so long to have my writing typed out, and even more so when it crashes and I lose my “flow”. Other than that, it’s a simple design and I love it, but is there anything you could do about the keyboard?

Love this app!. Overall, great app. I love to write so I’ve been using this app for years and it’s great. It doesn’t crash often, lets you work offline, it’s easy to use and share, and the best part is it doesn’t spam you with any adds. As a student, it is a bit annoying and glitchy when I have copies of documents with photos (it makes writing where I want a pain), but whatever. My main complaint is that there’s not more options. I have ~20 fonts, a decent but not great variety of colors, and it just doesn’t feel very customizable. I understand that it’s a writing app, but sometimes I do really wish I had more options (especially with fonts, on my iPad at least). I would recommend this app to everyone, just maybe get a font extension if it bothers you tons.

Almost one of google’s rare accomplishments w. Unfortunately students are broke and can’t afford to pay for the all the fancy Microsoft tools to better excel in the classroom/online learning. I need excel Microsoft notes, one drive, google sheets etc. please look into this you’d make it accessible to have a 6 month trial period to help us college/high school students finish our degree and education in a way to better improve the future working class to succeed! Please I’d love to talk to somebody and figure out a way to allow all Microsoft tools and Ai to be available for at least a 6 month period . I’d be willing to go state to state collecting donations so every lower/Middle class schoolchildren's not as technologically or financially able to enhance the world around us ! Please do something ! Better than anything!!! Please read!!!. Listen, I’m a future writer, and I’m going to tell you why I like Google Docs better than those other writing apps! #1: I started writing on this app because of my school Chromebook. I just wrote random ideas. Then I stared my first book. (Not finished yet.) And now I love this app. #2: I have used other writing apps before. Inkitt, for one. But it didn’t save my work. This app automatically saves and puts it into the magical filing cabinet: Google Drive! I will use this app always! I know that the other apps have better technology, but you don’t need special things to live your passion of writing. #3: Most important! You don’t need to purchase! Other apps want you to purchase for additional prompts or space for writing. I love that the developers decided to forget about that! Writing should not be paid for! So, in conclusion, if you want to download something else, fine. But in my opinion, the developers thought of things that help people write. If you are thinking of downloading this. Do it. I promise, you won’t regret it! Because writing is NOT purchases OR special effects. It’s about passion. And Google Docs has that! Good Day ~Emmy!

Great App. Google Docs is a fantastic app that has completely changed the way I work on documents. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, making it simple to create, edit, and collaborate on documents with others. Sorting Certain Docs. I love this app, but I have one request that might help me and possibly others out more- maybe if there was like a way to add folders into the app- like- for sorting certain docs- it would help some people find some stuff they did that they never got to finish. For example: Say you write a story, but you have a ton of other stories, but they aren’t complete and you don’t want that specific story to get mixed in with the incomplete stories. Just make a folder, name it, and put the unfinished stories there. Plus it would sort things a little better. I tried doing some stuff with google drive and it didn’t help me much, so adding folders here in google docs to sort certain documents and keep them from getting mixed in with the others would be very helpful. If this does happen, I’ll appreciate this app even more.

Angry. I have been using Google Docs for writing for years now and have never had a problem with it until recently. I had been working on a book since around four years ago and then decided to keep working on it. I did, for couple of months, and then I took a break. Today, I remembered it and went to read it and work on it some more. It’s completely gone. I looked through my gallery three times and searched it, and went to my trash folder in google drive, and it still isn’t there. I know that I never deleted it because I was working on it pretty recently and checked my trash folder. My only conclusion is that it was permanently deleted for no reason and I can’t get it back. I have been sobbing for the past thirty minutes. I know that other users have the same issue, so PLEASE FIX THIS. I WANT MY BOOK BACK.

This is awesome!. As a writer myself, this is one of my best writing platforms for me to use! The things I love most about Docs is the fonts. Like in this review, we have to get used writing in these normal fonts. With the fonts and sizes with Docs, it gives us a lot more to put into the imagination. I have used Docs time and time again, for stories or school, and I absolutely love it. I also love how there are no advertising. I can’t thank you enough for making Docs, and I can’t wait for further updates in the future. One thing I suggest fo r the future, is it’d be cool for when viewing in print form, you could number the pages. This would be amazing for when I actually am printing, to see how many papers I would need. Thanks so much again, and have a great day :D

Great! But one problem.... Hey I love the app. I really do. It’s probably one of my most used apps on my phone. But I have a slight problem. I think the most recent update. But my Docs app closes too often/ soon. I tend to use the app and then switch to reply to a message or post something. It’s a pretty quick transaction. And then when I come back to docs I'm taking out onto the main screen. It’s honestly very annoying. The time it takes to load the page I was just on is longer too. And it happens EVERY TIME I leave. Is there a way to fix this? There was a time when it would stay exactly where I was after being inactive for hours! And now it leaves in a matter of seconds. Please change this. I’d like to be able to use other features on my phone while still being able to get back to my docs in a timely manner.

Great App, but Needs More Functionality. The Google docs is very limiting as a power user on the iPad. I just recently upgraded to the iPad Pro and was hoping to use it as a replacement for my MacBook since the majority of the things that I do are either Google related or for school which works fine online. I wouldn’t say that the Google Docs iPad app is horrible, however, at times I find it becomes laggy which makes it difficult, and it would be very useful if I had the capability to open multiple docs side by side. Most of the functionality of Google Docs is available on the iPad app, however, multitasking is very limiting as well as performance at times. I would love to see the kinks worked out because Google Docs is so awesome. It’d be great to have the best of both worlds. I often find myself going back to my MacBook for those capabilities and think there’s so much more potential for the app on iPad.

great computer version, but.... Google Docs is amazing tool for school, and a great app for writing. You can connect with friends, editors, and co-authors on the same document, and the layout is beautiful. Although, the app is pretty limited and does not provide the full experience of Google Docs. I would recommend this over competing brands, such as Word, but the grammar and spelling check doesn’t work very well. Also, a great addition would be to add folders to put the Docs in. As a clean-freak, it’s a bit stressful having a hundred different documents floating around with no way to group the ones for school and the ones for stories. They have this feature in Drive, but it doesn’t translate over to Docs. But overall, Docs is hands down the greatest word processor I’ve ever used! With some little tweaks in the future, this will be the perfect word processor for professional and personal use! -leah

App is great, but I’m having a problem.... Okay, I’ve been using Google Docs for a while now. It’s amazing, reliable, and easy to use. I use it for school and for personal use. But lately I’ve been having trouble with it, and I think I might be the only one? I don’t know, but it’s kind of weird. For some odd reason, my Google Docs (on my iPad) has been really frustrating lately—the italics font doesn’t work. I have to delete Google Docs every time for it to work, but then when I leave the app, and try typing in italics, I’m right back at square one. I honestly don’t know what the problem is, but I think it might have to do with the case I have on my iPad. It’s like a regular case, but has a keyboard attached, making it look like a laptop. I’m not sure what it is, though, and I’d really appreciate it if I could get some help. Thanks!

Ouch. I think that docs is pretty good, it has a lot of stuff that is handy and I liked it a lot. But, I have created a lot of chapter books on docs and one of them I was working on just today when suddenly all of the words disappeared. I was like, okay that weird let me just press the back arrow but still after about a million time pressing the back arrow it remained blank. I swear this is the worst day of my life, I put everything into that story and it was my best one yet, plus it was so close to being finished and suddenly Docs lags and it deletes. And I know that I could never recreate that story, I literally cried for an hour. If there is any way to fix this than that would be amazing and I would surely give docs a better rating and better reviews it was just surprising that that would happen. Overall Docs is very useful and helps me but now I can literally never look at it again. If there is a way to fix it please tell me but other than that docs is good.

Literally less convenient than my old binders and printed paper. Why????. It’s actually impressive how inconvenient this app is on an iPad. I am a musician and I used google docs to create all of my printed music to play while performing. Well now I have an iPad and would love to open those documents to use while I play instead of using the binder with hundreds of printed pages I’ve always used. HOWEVER, opening a doc in anything other than print layout is so counterintuitive and I would have to change the setting manually for every song I open which is so stupid. Also upon closing a document I opened via google drive, why not automatically go back to google drive when I close it? Instead it takes me to recently opened files in google docs. This should be so easy and instead is just SO SO SO stupid. Everyone uses their iPads like a computer why make the app so different than the desktop interface?

Pretty good app!. I’ve been using this app to write stories for years and I love everything about it! It’s simple, automatically saves your writing and you can make documents available offline to write without internet connect. My only issues with the app itself is how there isn’t a way to indent the first line of a paragraph when on mobile, and the italics button only appears when my phone is held upright. It disappears when held horizontally. I hope they can add a way to indent without indenting the entire paragraph, and a way to see the italics button when your device is held horizontally. There is also crashing when a document is too long, but I don’t have this same issue on my laptop with over 230 page, so I assume it’s just my old iPhone 6s. Other than that, I really love this app and definitely don’t plan to use anything else!

Like it, but missing some features here and there. While I like the efficiency and simplicity of Google Docs on mobile as well as on the desktop, I feel that is missing some features from the desktop version on Mac and Windows. While picking out new fonts on the desktop version was easy to use, the mobile version doesn’t offer it. Whereas on a computer, where a menu appeared on the top of the screen every time you wanted something, here on mobile everything is streamlined to make use of the real estate on a tablet or smartphone. And I like that. Furthermore, while on a laptop or desktop, you could right-click on an underlined word to correct spelling errors, on a tablet or smartphone, it lacks the need for it. So, my advice for you users is this: if you crave simplicity or efficiency, download the app. But if you want more professional style, stick with the app on a computer.

Occasionally Glitchy but Otherwise Great. Generally the Google Docs app works pretty well. I only use it for writing and making minor edits to class notes on my phone. But often I find when I’m typing that the screen will jump around. It also doesn’t play nice with Apple’s autocorrect at times. But the accessibility across devices is great. I can be editing or typing on my phone, and immediately switch to my computer and it updates in real time. This is also helpful for class projects, wherein I can be working with a group and we will all edit in real time and work on the same project, whether it’s an essay, brainstorming, or on the other google groups, the Slides app for PowerPoints. My biggest complaint over everything is just that each part of the google drive docket comes as a separate app. Docs is separate from Slides is separate from Spreadsheets is separate from plain ole Google Drive.

Great alternative to Apple Notes app. The most awesome thing about these smart phones is the ability to collaborate at a distance on documents using things like the checklist feature. Unfortunately, Apple’s Note app only works on iPhones 😔. Google Docs is a wonderful alternative allowing colleagues to collaborate with any device. I would give the Google Docs app the fifth star if it had a real checklist bullet that I could check with my finger on a smart phone screen. (Of course, it probably has earned the fifth star already because 1) unlike Apple’s Note app, Google docs keep track of who checks off which items in a checklist, (albeit using the check icon ✅ in our group), and 2) because notes can be kept in a sub, of a sub, of a sub folder 📁 allowing for superior organization of notes for professional and academic work groups.

Retiree road trip journaling with ease. For my needs, this app is 5 stars, although I haven't used it for documents that I want to edit or that are for others to assess. A year ago I bought an IPad mini, a keyboard case that fits my hands perfectly, and have now used gdocs on several trips. I use it for to do lists, packing lists, and for journaling along the way. I type faster and more clearly than I write and also flow more freely when I'm typing. On our current trip I experimented, opening up the journal while out of wi fi--and it worked! I wrote using my Iphone, then my Ipad, and when I was in wifi, they synched--wonderful! What I wish--that I could be confident that any documents I do want to share with folks who don't have gdocs would work as attachments that everyone could open. I'm not sure about that, so for those documents I still use Microsoft Word.

Great for Writing!. I like to write story's, poems, music, etc. so this is perfect. There’s lots of fonts, different sizes, and it’s all really accessible. My only complaint is that when I’m writing with is sometimes it’ll kick me out of the app? Strange, but I still use it. Also the documents will take a little bit to load depending on how long they are. The google feature helps me open it up rather than having to go through the page again after getting out, so that’s helpful. I actually wrote this on google docs and copied and pasted it 😂 Really great for writers. I’ve only used it on my phone though, so I don’t know if there are any other bugs I haven’t mentioned. Other than the Kicking of Me and pages loading, it’s great. I’d suggest it to anyone willing to lend an ear.

Greatest thing about Docs. The thing I like best about Google Docs is its use over time. I know a Google Engineer and he clued me in on this one. We are part of a larger, mostly volunteer organization. It’s been around for a while, and many of the documents from 20 years ago, done with other word processing programs, are not find-able, but when we do find them they are no longer readable with current software. Google docs will not have either of those problems—as long as Google goes on the Docs will be available and readable. The problem of incompatibility of software, not just between users but also over time, goes away. In so many other ways Google Docs is vastly improved over the early versions. And I really like that both Docs and Sheets are available on all devices.

Great layout, easy to use...but lacking. I have been a huge fan of Google Docs for about 6 years, using it primarily for school and research. I recently bought an iPad Pro to help my productivity, using Google Docs as one of my main word processing apps. So far, I enjoy the app very much, as it is very smooth and simple to use (the layout is very clean). However, the main complaint I have is that the app is very limited in comparison to its desktop counterpart, mainly the lack of the ability to use add-ons. I am dependent on add-ons like Paperpile or XLMiner Analysis (for Sheets) and am pretty disappointed it is not available for the apps. I think this would be a fairly simple feature to add in the future. In addition, I feel like it is not showcasing the full capabilities of the iPad Pro as it can. Overall, great app but seriously lacking in certain areas compared to the desktop version.

A few improvements and it’ll be just what I need. Don’t get me wrong, Google Docs is pretty cool. But there are just a few errors that make it almost unuseable and having me search for an alternative. Being blind, I use voiceover to navigate and use my iPad and iPhone 6. And for the most part, google docs works great with said screen reader. It lets you know what formatting you have in place and navigating tables is a breeze. But that stupid key echo. Whenever I type, it says each and every character even though i set it to only repeat words. Not to mention the fact that whenever I delete a character, instead of saying the character in a low pitch (like it’s suppose to) it says ‘selection deleted. Which makes it very hard to keep track of how much I’ve deleted. Also it doesn’t speak spaces when I use the arrow keys on my keyboard to move the cursor but that’s not as big an issue as the ones mentioned above. One more thing, I like to type my documents and then import them to scrivener, but there doesn’t seem to be a simple way to do this. Instead of having the traditional share window show up there’s this weird menu about formats and stuff? I don’t even know. But maybe I don’t know how to do it maybe there is a way. The Inferior Version. I’ve tried using the mobile version for schoolwork, as carrying an Ipad is easier than a laptop. There are so many issues with this version, however. Every time I try to navigate, select a place to type, or change the color of the words, it does something widely different and even minimizes the app. I’ve tried to circumvent this problem by simply accessing from the chrome browser app, but the moment I try, it immediately redirects to the app. No matter what, it won’t let you edit any documents unless you go to the app. Even logging in is a challenge, as when trying to log in, after deleting the app to see if that helps, it will just go in circles directing you to download the app. The desktop version is great, but clunky controls weigh the mobile version down. I simply cannot recommended this, and would recommend the developers to allow the use of the desktop version on browser apps as an easy solution to this problem.

Summary review of google docs. I find Google Docs, quite useful for my particular work, and easy to use. One of the main features that makes Google Docs helpful is the advanced spellchecking, which seems to include grammatical correction; more development in the area of AI assisted document composition would be a great asset for the Google docs product. Another thing that would be appreciated is a more sophisticated, and well developed filing system allowing the user greater latitude to design a their own way to sort and file documents rather than trying to use a generic filing system that attempts to cover all anticipated needs of every user; a filing system with self designing features would for me expedite the assembly of documents on the screen.

Fix this. I always use this app as my go-to for schoolwork, but there are so many issues. For one, when I try to select a few certain words, it either selects the whole row and the one below it and it won’t let me unselect it, or it selects one letter and won’t move. And when I am making a list like: 1. (Words) 2. (Words) And so on, when I try to return down to start an example, it creates a 3 and then I return again and it disappears. I write my new thought and type 3. And then click the space bar and it doesn’t do anything. I spacebar the 3. up to where the rest are so it looks clean, and when it starts a new sentence behind the list, I can’t space it up like the rest. The spacebar does nothing. I have to create white text to move it up. And when I tab on those sentences trying to align them, it tabs over the sentence above the one I am on and when I click the delete to undo the tab, it moves up again and deletes the last letter on that section. It is just so frustrating. Please fix these.

Good, but pls optimize this app for more heavy usage. While this app is a great substitute for the PC version of Docs, its not fully optimized for IOS or apps. Its nice if you’re quickly pulling up a document to type something up that’s last minute or doesn’t require a lot of time or presentation, but for people who use the app heavily, like on the iPad Pro, it’s frustrating. For one, the Office-Docs compatibility format doesn’t save, which means that in order to print you have to make a billion copies on order for it to save in an edited, print ready format, which even then doesn’t work. Another frustrating feature is that multiple documents can’t be opened and viewed at the same time, which should be possible for iPad Pro split screen viewing but unfortunately is not and leads to annoying back and forth flipping. Overall, good app if wanting to make last minute tweaks, but for heavy users, this app needs some work.

How does such a big company make such a below par app. I expect more from a billion dollar company No tab key built into the app. u should know that mobile devices do not have tab keys and should build that into the ui of the app. Constantly draining battery. Not only is docs a power heavy app despite the fact that its a text editor with cloud save it also runs 24/7 in the background. I even turned off background app refresh and still if I got to screen time I have like 12-24 hours of docs everyday unless I remember to close it. Print layout vs dark mode. There is no print layout dark mode which means if I am trying to use dark mode then I will not know how my paper will actually look or how the lines will wrap. I can either know how my paper will actually look or use dark mode. there is no in between You cannot edit comments that are too long. If you make a comment that is more than like 1 sentence then try to edit it, it will only show as much of the text to edit as fits in the small initial text box. The box does not initialize a scroll wheel or expand to the size of the text based unless you are the one to type in it. As a developer idk how u could miss a bug like that for this long which leads into my bigger point. These bugs are not flying under the radar google just does not care enough to make an actually good app and so long as it functions then they don't care enough to put any real man power into one of the most popular apps on the appstore.

Something’s up with my app. I’ve been using google docs a lot over my past school years because it’s such a reliable source to work on with your classmates on projects and classwork assigned to you by your teacher on google classroom. It works fine on the computer, but the app refuses to let me sign into google docs because of an apparent “device policy alert”. I don’t get this: i’ve updated my google docs app to the latest version, my iphone to the latest version and even tried restarting my phone and deleting and re-downloading the app. Nothing seems to work. It used to be so helpful to have this app on my phone so even if I'm miles away from the nearest computer, I could work on my schoolwork. But now this device policy alert removes my ability to work on it at all. I hope this is just a bug or glitch, or the app comes out with a new update deleting this blockage.

Absolute Garbage—A Productivity Nightmare. Google Docs on iOS is, without exaggeration, one of the worst apps I’ve ever had the misfortune of using. From the moment I opened it, I was greeted by a UI so clunky and outdated that it felt like stepping back into 2010. The app is riddled with bugs that make it practically unusable for anything beyond the most basic tasks. Renaming a document? Good luck! That feature, which should be simple and straightforward, doesn’t even work properly—tapping on the document title does absolutely nothing. And don't even think about working on longer documents! The app starts lagging so badly that you’d think you were using a device from the Stone Age. I’ve had it crash on me multiple times, losing chunks of work because, apparently, basic stability is too much to ask for. The irony of an app meant for productivity that actually hinders your ability to get anything done isn’t lost on me. In 2024, how is it possible that Google, a tech giant, can't get something as simple as a word processor right? The app clearly prioritizes form over function—who cares about a sleek design when you can’t even reliably type a sentence without lag, let alone make basic edits like renaming a file? Save yourself the frustration and avoid this disaster of an app. Stick to the browser version, or better yet, use any other app that actually respects your time and effort. Google, you should be ashamed of releasing this garbage. Do better.
