Killer Sudoku by Sudoku.com Comments & Reviews 2026

They listen to complaints.. I’m very pleased with this COMPANY. 👍Over the years of playing this, I’ve contacted them and even put a disparaging complaint here. They addressed everything. Things were constantly improving. I think it’s perfect now. As far as the GAME it’s my favorite! You can do the daily game where you are given any level. You can go to the main menu and chose a game in your favorite level. Also, you can adjust it in settings to fine tune it to make it more suitable to your desires, like how or if it shows hints. It’s been a while since I’ve used that and I honestly can’t remember those options, but they are good. This game has no more glitches! 🤞 The ADS are reasonable, except for when I play this at night- occasionally a constant as will be white. 🕶️ When your eyes are dilated to adjust to the dark, it’s jarring. But the real ads generally pop up twice during a game and you dismiss them and don’t have to repeatedly dismiss them! Hate that! I uninstall any games that do that!

Great game, but needs a fix!. I’m really enjoying this game. It is somewhat harder than sudoku, and I love that the math makes me exercise a different part of my brain. However, there is one change that needs to be made ASAP! I’m using an iPad, and when I touch the screen in the wrong place, it overwrites the correct number (that I’ve already entered) with whatever random number I accidentally selected. A “note” can even supersede the correct number. Once you’ve entered the correct number, that cell should be locked- there’s no reason you’d change it. Please!!! I’ve lost so many games in this way, and it is extremely frustrating. One other idea is that the screen could change colors (or something) when you go in and out of note mode. It’s too easy to lose track of which mode you’re in, and I’ve lost a lot of games due to this issue as well.

Great App. This is my favorite app. I love the different challenges they have incorporated into the game. Only two things I think would make it better. (Hopefully the devs will read this) 1. If the puzzle has the correct number in the right location, it would be nice if it would lock it to where you can’t change it. Many times I accidentally hit a tile I have already found the answer for and end up changing it. 2. Have the ability to change a number you have put your finger on. For example, if you are trying to choose a 1 but you accidentally touch the 2 first…there is no way to slide you finger over to the 1 or slide your finger off the number to pick the correct one. I’d love to see these changes.

Too Many Ads Lately. Like most of the other reviewers I completely understand the need for ads. When I first started using this app the ads weren’t that bad. There would be one in the middle of the game and one at the end. Which is fair. Now each game has three to watch if you want to finish the match. Now once again, I understand the need for ads. But this is a bit much. To go from one to three is makes it tedious. You’ve got to make your money, I get it, but that’s a bit much. Otherwise the game is decent enough. Other than the accidental hitting the wrong number it’s easy to play and navigate. One suggestion through, if a number is correct, don’t let the player enter another number by accident. It cost the player a mistake when they had it correct the first time and didn’t mean to enter a new number in that box.

Love expert levels!. This game makes me feel so rewarded & smart! I have gotten down from 1:30 to twenty minutes sometimes for the expert levels as a develop more techniques. I like how it uses both math and logic. I keep myself to the three mistake limit and only use the one free hint if I am really stuck. Each box, row, and column add up to 45 and sometimes I rack my brain by using a 90 group to solve for one number. It feels so good to solve that I just keep opening another and another. Thanks for all the different settings (night mode black background, highlighting). One suggestion I would love is to be able to make some notated numbers a different color or italics, which I would use for “all of the possible options” verses numbers that *must fit “either here or there.”

Terrific until new update. I used to love this app and play daily, but this new update is driving me insane. It stops gameplay every time a number is fully completed to display a little encouragement image then play an ad. I don’t mind the ads because it’s a free app and they usually don’t take longer than a couple second, but the pause for the unnecessary emoji is horrendously irritating. The change in number size also makes the game much harder to play along with the buttons like “notes” being made much smaller. Beyond that, the game consistently lags now when I try to type numbers in, now taking 4-10 seconds to complete actions that would’ve taken 2 seconds before, utterly destroying any attempt to beat previous time records and often causing me to mess up which numbers are inputted in which cells. I genuinely loved this game so much and felt like it was really improving my mental math, but this new update makes the game feel like it’s for 4-year-olds and I can’t stand playing anymore.

Daily challenges too easy. I really enjoyed learning the tricks of the game, especially through the events that have randomized difficulty levels easy through hard. At first, the daily challenges felt impossibly hard, but became more doable as I learned. Recently, though, they have dropped their difficulty level and become less of a fun challenge. I used to look forward to the daily challenge, as it was often more difficult than the randomly generated extreme puzzles. Now, I am usually disappointed by them. As far as the rest of the app, the puzzles are well constructed. It’s easy to switch from notes to entering digits. The ads are a bit annoying, but quickly skippable. They got to make money somehow. My biggest complaint is that an incorrect input immediately registers as a mistake. Sometimes I like to try out a number to see if it would work without being told whether it is correct, or my finger just slips. The hint function isn’t terribly smooth, either. If you have an input highlighted, a hint will just confirm that it is correct, which you already know because of the mistake function.

Random difficulty rankings: irritating change. I enjoy and am actually addicted to this game, but I am really irritated by the random difficulty levels within a category (Easy, Medium, Hard or Expert). I generally like to play Expert and am looking to play the most challenging game possible. So when I start a new game, I am presented with “Only x% of players were able to solve this puzzle.“ This % seems to be randomly generated so I have to just hope for a low percentage, but this ranking is almost always between 60 and 70%, and almost never below 50% - so I’m supposed to be thrilled to be in the top 2/3 of players??? Whoop-dee-doo! To get a difficulty ranking under 50% I have to start and restart a new game dozens of times. This is a recent change - why was the change made? Why can’t I control more about the level of difficulty? Why can’t more challenging rankings come up more often?

WHAT R U THINKING? YOU’VE RUINED A GREAT GAME!. I am not a negative reviewer, until now. But you have ruined one of my most enjoyable games. I have been playing this game for quite a while now. Rarely do I find a game that’s really relaxing and fun. Paid games are usually the games I enjoy the most but occasionally, like Killer Sudoku, I find a winner. Yes there are ads but they’re short and I understand that while you are waiting for the game to be successful enough, yes you need income. I would buy a version of this game if it became available, and I plead with you to make that available BECAUSE NOW ADS RUN IN THE MIDDLE OF GAMEPLAY. Who is okay with that? I still open it, out of habit, but soon quit because there is no possible way to enjoy it now. MAYBE if it had started out with this new version and then changed to having the short ads after playing it would be better but it now feels like the game is regressing instead of progressing.

Such a fun twist on Sudoku!!. I don’t mean to scare off anyone from this game, it is a great, fun Sudoku+ puzzle game!! I had been solving Sudoku puzzles for years when I first encountered it, so I cannot speak from personal experience as to how it might be to solve as a true novice, but it adds another element that gives you information about which number goes in which square, so I feel like the easy puzzles might be even easier and more fun for someone who is struggling to solve beginner-level Sudoku puzzles using only logic. And for those of us who love logic puzzles, it adds another layer! As an Expert Level (or whatever fun moniker is given to the most difficult level of Sudoku puzzle) Sudoku fan, I have been playing this game for YEARS now. I love that it gives me an additional tool for solving Sudoku problems! The “math” is very simple addition, and keeps my single-digit addition facts fresh, but mostly it is just incredibly satisfying to be able to solve a “blank” Sudoku puzzle! High praise to the creator(s) and developers! Thank you for adding a fresh take on a fun puzzle to my daily brain challenge!!

Enjoy the game, but... I have a few suggestions. I am unhappy about the last update, there are many more ads, and they interrupt your game. You’re on a roll, and then an ad comes! You forget your place, etc. Could you go back to just having it at the end of a game, please? Also could you make the note numbers, the small ones, slightly larger, maybe a little darker? Better for older eyes. Thank you. Adding: it is getting worse, not better. I could accept, if I have to, an ad every time I find all of a number, which (see above) I still don’t like, but now it is after I fill in 3 or 4 numbers, there is another ad. Getting close to deciding to delete this game, and I really don’t want to, you have a very well made game. PLEASE LESSEN THE NUMBER OF ADS.

Good, But Heats Up My Phone. The app itself works fine most of the time, and the ads are skippable either immediately or after a few seconds. The only issue I have with it is that it makes my iPhone Xs heat up and run extremely slow after I've been playing for a while (usually an hour or two). The game itself will freeze for long moments, which is really annoying when I'm trying to get a good time, and everything else I try to do on my phone will be delayed and glitchy. The app is simple enough that it shouldn't require that much processing power, and it definitely isn't very graphically intensive since everything is just flat colors and numbers. I make sure to close all other apps that are running in the background, so that's not the problem. My concern is that this Sudoku app is running some kind of hidden software commands in the background while I'm playing, and that doesn't sit right with me.

Expert near impossible. I love killer sudoku in general. The app is incredibly user friendly and easy to use. I would give it a resounding 5 stars, except the difficulty levels are so off. I’ve yet to do easy or medium. The hard difficulty is fairly easy. Plenty of numbers are already given to you, and it’s usually solvable for me within 5 minutes. I’d love to go up in difficulty, but expert is almost impossible. No numbers are ever given to start out, and the cluster of boxes usually have way too many possible scenarios to narrow down to the correct answer. I usually spend 30-40 minutes on one puzzle before realizing that without many hints or guess and check work, it’s not solvable. I’m not suggesting they make Expert easier, because there’s better puzzle solvers than me. But, the Hard difficulty should be more of a challenge

Backround audio constantly pausing. This is one of the most enjoyed apps on my phone and it has been for quite some time. I have one complaint and one hope to see soon. The complaint is that if I want to watch a show or listen to music while solving a puzzle, it will pause itself over and over again. This is a new issue, pls fix it in the next update. My hope is that another difficulty is added. Some of the expert puzzles are way more challenging than others in the same difficulty. I propose another difficulty beyond expert. Idk how the devs will choose what goes into expert+ and what stays in expert or if yall just make a bunch of more puzzles, but a new difficulty would be so much fun. Pls fix the audio problem soon:)

Used to be great. This has by far been my favorite game to play for a while. While the game has always had adds they were typically before/after a game and offered as an option to get hints and 2nd chances. But as of today I’ve been getting multiple adds during a game which is extremely frustrating. It’s distracting and often confusing to remember where I left off before the pop up. Even though the adds are short it’s still enough to throw me off. I completely understand adds are needed to keep the game free but this has become excessive and it’s really unnecessary. Having the adds in the middle of a game completely ruins the user experience. It’s one thing to have a couple pop up but it’s almost every minute for me. I hope the developers will revert back to the original adds before and after games, otherwise I will have to say goodbye to this app. Even though I do enjoy it the games today have been frustrating.

Ads on top of ads- not kidding. I’m playing the ad version and though the ads are annoying, it was playable and still fun. But the developers thought it would be a good idea to start putting ads on top of ads. I’m not even kidding. On the game screen they run an ad that’s always present on the bottom of the screen. Well, now there’s sometimes an ads on top of that ad that won’t go away. It’s big enough that it partially obscures the numbers you tap to add to the board. The reason this gets two stars now is that the ad at the bottom doesn’t go away when you get sent to a full screen ad. And when that full screen ad can only be closed by tapping a button at the bottom of the screen, you can never get out of the ad. You’ll have to close the game and restart it. Not just a leave the game and come back — you actually have to close the app so it’s not running in the background. Terrible experience.

Repeated games. I’ve been playing this game for a year now and exclusively play on the extreme level. Never in my time having this game have I had the same puzzle twice (that I know of). Well in the past couple of days, all of my puzzles have been ones I’ve completed before. The only reason I have taken notice is because they are puzzles I’ve completed in the past week. To be fair, I only play the levels where 53% or less players are able to complete it. However, I have been doing that for months and have never had this issue. I’ve cleared the app from my open tabs but the issue persists. I don’t want to delete the game because I don’t want to lose my accomplishments. This is my favorite app on my phone but if I keep receiving recently solved puzzles, I may have to get rid of this game. I genuinely do not want to, please fix this issue!!

Have loved this game BUT…. Lowered my rating from 5 stars to 3. This has been my favorite game for months and feel it has sharpened my focus and ability to mentally juggle several things (numbers) at once. However, recently Ads have interrupted the game when I’m trying to mentally hold on to 3-4 numbers in play. I don’t mind ads in the beginning or the end of a game or to get a reward but really? Stop the game in progress for an ad? No other game I play does this. Shame on you killer sudoku developers! Second review - later date: I still think it’s naughty to interrupt a game in progress that depends on remembering and mentally manipulating several possibilities at the same time. But developers - I’m still playing, so I guess you win! New review. I ve adapted to the ads but now when an ad is supposed to start, it doesn’t! The screen goes white and stays that way for very long time. I get up and do something else and after 5 minutes, it’s still white. So I go to another game. You’re defeating your purpose with the ads if players like me just leave the game. There’s a lot of games out there! I hope you can fix this.

Why all the changes? I can’t play this game anymore.. I have enjoyed this game for a long time, and I can deal with the ads for a free game. But the most recent update has almost ruined it for me! The aesthetic changes are a lot harder on my eyes: I feel like I strain a lot more trying to read it. I could be wrong, but I’m also fairly certain there used to be haptic feedback when entering numbers and such, and I really miss that too. It slows me down because I have to visually look every time to make sure the number took, whereas before I could feel it. Lastly, I really miss the possible number combos in the bottom corner of the screen. That was essential to playing on expert with any competitiveness. At this point, trying to do all the math in my head for a 5 or 6 cell box takes the fun out of it and makes the game take way longer than it should otherwise. Please make the haptics and the possible number combos an option in the settings! With all these changes, it’s not worth playing anymore. It’s not fun and it hurts my eyes.

Great app, terrible ads. I love this app, it’s by far my favorite interface for killer sudoku games, but it keeps showing me really offensive weight loss ads in the middle of my game and often does not give me an option to close them or mark them as something I don’t want to see. I’m taking like close up video of someone’s belly jiggling and gigantic letters calling the person fat. They haven’t always shown these types of ads, but now that they do I have been playing the game much less just to avoid them. It’s frustrating that the only way they allow me to not look at these really offensive, hurtful ads is to pay them to go ad free. Im happy to watch ads, but I shouldn’t have to pay you to not be exposed to awful content. Far from the relaxing sudoku experience I usually am looking for! You all should be more selective about the kind of content you’re willing to make money from, other major corporations like meta have banned these types of advertisements because of the negative impact they have on women and teens.

Crash bad Freeze worse. I had this game previously and played it a lot but it started freezing rather badly: the game stopped responding and just sat there blocking any use of the phone. When I tried to shut down the phone to get it off the screen either dimmed or brightened but didn’t clear the game until the battery of the phone drained down past one percent. It got to where I couldn’t play more than one game without this freezing occurring. I deleted the game and did without for about half a year but saw an ad and thought I would give it another try. Same song second verse, second verse same as the first. After the battery drained down and I got control of the phone again I deleted the game and have installed another sudoku game from another developer. My cell phone is my only phone and I can’t have it frozen like this. I am elderly and my health is not what it was. If I had an emergency I wouldn’t be able to call anyone for help while the battery is draining. Thanks for the fun of the game but no thanks for the bug. Bye.

Too Many Ads - So glad I deleted this app!. The game is fun, but let’s be honest, there are a ton of sudoku apps out there. Also, I don’t mind ads, but they should only play between games. With this app, your game is interrupted several times for ads. Not worth it. Update: after I posted this review, clearly stating my issue was with many mid-game ads, not once saying I want all ads removed. I got the following snarky response. Seriously, there are tons of sudoku apps. I found one I like just as well in about a minute, then deleted this one. Multiple mid-game ads and seriously terrible attitude makes this app not worth your time. Hi! It's a pity to hear about your unpleasant experience with ads. Unfortunately, we cannot remove all ads. We need ads to support the app and make it available to everyone for free. We hope you can understand that. If you wish to stop all ads, you can do that for a small one-time fee in Settings. You'll never face any ads afterward.

Love this game BUT. This is probably the best sudoku game I have ever played. The addition of the cages adds an extra level of fun and challenge. I especially like the expert games so I always hope my daily challenge is the expert level. However, it hangs so badly on my iPad sometimes. I can’t play it on my phone because I can’t see the small numbers well enough. The game itself is great but I find the freezing and hanging very frustrating. Update dec 2023 this game was updated recently and I wish I could subtract a star from my review. The freezing and hanging were due to my old iPad. It’s working great on my new iPad but ever since the update all my daily challenges are medium or easy and the way the ads pop up has become very annoying. I still like the game but I don’t think the recent update is an improvement.

Keeps crashing & almost bricked my phone. I’d like to start off by saying I really love this app; I downloaded it after normal sudoku got too easy for me, and it’s been a fun way to challenge myself. However, a few weeks ago my phone started freezing while I was in the app, forcing me to restart it. It was a relative rare occurrence, at first, so I kept playing (there’s not much else for me to do right now in quarantine), but it’s grown more and more frequent until just now, when it crashed twice in ten minutes and the second time almost bricked my phone. (My phone made noises when I tried to restart it. It’s never done that before.) I’m deleting this app for now for the health of my phone, but I’d like to please beg the developers to fix whatever this is. I don’t know what causes it, as the crashes appear to be completely random. I have an iPhone XR, and both my phone software and the app are updated to the most recent update. I’d be more than happy to change my review once this issue is fixed, but for now I’d advise people to be wary downloading this app.

Too many ads. This is/was one of my favorite puzzle games! Then the developers added more ads. At first, the ads were just when you made an error and second chance and when you wanted hints, then they added a couple of ads to the end of the game. I understand all that, however, today ads are a lot more frequent, including one ad after I placed one number. I understand the developers need to get paid for their work. But there has not been an update for six months, so what’s with the increase in ads? Please reconsider removing the ads that were added today. If you were in the process of updating the game, consider adding your percentage vs other players each time, I really enjoy thi. Also, I hope the ads don’t count towards the time, at least not the ones that pop up on their own, not the ones to get more hints or chances. Thanks

Love this game. I love this game. I play it every single day and never get bored. However, there’s one small issue that bothers me. I don’t know if it’s a glitch or something else but nothing has fixed it, including updating the app and deleting and redownloading it. In the statistics for the Daily Challenge puzzles, it consistently says that I have started one more game than I’ve finished. I’ve looked more than 10 times through each month to find this puzzle that I apparently started but never finished and I have not found it. This bugs me because it’s bringing down my win rate and also because I’d love to finish it if I’ve started it. Hopefully the issue resolves itself or I can get some advice/help because, while small, this issue does drive me a bit nuts. Otherwise, I cannot recommend this game enough!

Just switched apps. Below is a review I wrote a couple of weeks ago. After seeing developer comments about removing the mid-game ads, I stuck with it a while longer. They haven’t kept that promise, so I’m done. There are plenty of other Killer Sudoku apps, and I’m switching to a new one. This has been one of my daily go-to games for some time. As a game it probably deserves four stars - it generally plays well, but the keyboard interface for numbers, notes, and hints is clumsy and I, at least, wind up taking hints when I’m trying to do notes and so on. It’s a relatively minor irritation but enough to cost a star. Recently, though, they’ve added ads in the middle of a game. For a timed game with the level of concentration demanded by killer sudoku, this is completely unacceptable, and it’s not like there aren’t other killer sudoku apps out there. That immediately takes the app down to one star. If they want to run an ad before the game that’s one thing, and all part of the story. If this practice of running ads during the game persists much longer, I’ll be finding a new app for this.

Love the game, but needs couple improvements. First off, I love this game. I started playing it about a year ago and have drastically improved my sudoku skills since then. I just have a couple suggestions to improve the experience: 1. Sometimes the app glitches and the timer doesn’t start when the puzzle opens, and it’s not something you realize until midway through the game. I’ve had it happen a few times to me and I’ve accidentally finished a game which screwed up my stats and set a false “best time.” As a side note, the timer usually starts after the first ad. Please either fix this issue or allow us to edit, or somehow rebuttal, the puzzle completion time. 2. I would love if y’all added an “Insights” feature. I love seeing how I stacked up against other people that played that puzzle as it gives me a better sense of my own progression. Some other Sudoku apps use a cool insight tool, and I know sometimes after I complete a puzzle it will show me “you were faster than ‘x’% of players,” but I would like to be able to see that for all puzzles. I don’t even mind watching an ad to see the insights. If y’all have the data for it, I would also love to see the average completion time on top of any other stats you think would be fun to see. I hope you have time to consider my suggestions! Again, I love the app and appreciate the challenge it provides.

Game ruined by recent increase in ads. As many other recent reviewers have stated, there has been a ridiculous increase in the number of ads shown while playing. I understand that ads bring in revenue and are needed to support developers, but it’s been way too much recently. They started showing ads in the middle of the game once you fill in all of a number (it used to be at the end of every game, which was completely reasonable for a free game). A game I just played showed me 5 ads in the span of 20 minutes. These ads interrupt the music or podcasts that I’m listening to and just ruin the experience that used to be so relaxing. The actual gameplay of this app is great and I would update my review to 5 stars if they set the frequency of the ads back to only at the end/start of games. Until then, I’ll look elsewhere as it’s not difficult to find an alternative sudoku app that doesn’t show you 5 ads in the middle of your game.

Well, it used to be fun! I’ve played this app for well over a year, and love the challenge.. However the last update seemed to add some problems! First, they found a way to force you to watch even MORE ads be adding them into the middle of each game. You complete some numbers and are forced to watch an ad. Frustrating! And not sure if watching the ad adds to the time it tracks to solve the puzzle. Second, and a more serious issue, playing this game causes some serious drain on my phone battery and processing. My phone sometimes s l o w s down noticeably and the battery will heat up - so there is some serious processing going on in the background that is causing this! And I’ve tried ONLY having this app open, nothing else, and still have this issue, so it is definitely this game that causes it. It is so bad that on 3 recent occasions my phone has just locked up and I had to shut it down and reboot. One of those times I had to Google how to force a reboot because it would not shut down! I’ll move on to another killer sudoku app until maybe this issue is fixed in an update. Until then, downloaders beware!

Good game but has downside. I have been playing this game’s daily game most days since it was released. I wish that they would change one thing in particular: they make you watch what can seem like a long ad when you complete putting the same number in every large box. When you do this a cheerful icon appears on the screen to seemingly congratulate you then you seem to be punished for your accomplishment by being forced to stop your progress and watch an ad that can sometimes be somewhat long. I find this infuriating and I think that I will stop playing this game because I end up in anger. Also, today, at the beginning of the game, I had to what an ad for a skin tag remover. (I get that ads provide income for the developer.) This skin tag remover ad was so revolting that I actually wanted to vomit. Developer: please remove the skin tag remover ad (disgusting) and the built in game punishment for completing the same number in every large box. These make your game unpleasant and can invoke anger in the player.

Great app, I don’t like the new interface. This is an app I use every day to solve various puzzles a day. I enjoy the app so much that I paid for it. They have just released a new interface design that I don’t like. I use the app exclusively in an iPad, so my feedback is for the iPad version. The number pad is too big, and the numbers are too spread out that I can just use mi thumb to select the number (specially true for the numbers 1, 4, and 7). Also, the notes button used to be on top of the number 3, and now is the suggest button. I pressed the suggest button 3 times in a single game. I am not against of a small redesign, but these changes make the game not fun to play anymore, as I am always trying to beat my own time. Is so disappointing that I am writing a review. Also, I used to swipe my finger on top of the number pad to annotate the numbers on a cell (I know all the patterns for each two cell sum), and now it will just annotate the first number. I would have given 5 stars to the game, due to these issues I am downgrading it to 3 stars.

Expert mode every daily challenge in September.. This has been my favorite game for years. Even got the ad free version which I never do. Love to play it. Do the daily challenges everyday. But honestly this month’s daily challenges have been expert mode almost 98% of the time. And as much as I love playing and can do the expert modes the variety of the challenges is the thing I enjoy the most. Playing easy and medium difficulty ones to help with my quickness of solving is my favorite. And then the occasional hard or expert mode to have a challenge. But the fact that I see you comment that they are randomly generated I doubt highly at it being day 20 of September and weeks on end of expert level challenges. It honestly makes me want to stop playing altogether. The fun of the game is going away because your “random” generated daily challenges are all very targeted this month.

Killer Sudoku. I loved this game — until today. Since this is a free game, I expect and accept ads. However, it’s escalating way beyond okay. At first the ads were between every two or three games, then after every game. Recently there has been a mid-game ad in every game, plus at the end of each. Today there has been two and three mid-game ads and the between game ads. The ads are around every two minutes, but often less. It throws off the pace of the game in several ways. I’ll be adding up a larger block to decide what I need to put in, but after the ad, I have to recount. Since I don’t always come back in the same square I thought I was in, I have to be sure not to type the number I had been typing because I’ll get an error and have to watch another ad to “buy” another chance. Instead of being relaxing and/or challenging, today was frustrating and irritating. I finally quit and won’t try again today. If this greed fest continues, I’ll be looking for a new game (and NOT your regular Sudoku — it “caught” the same disease today)

Ha! I can Sudoku!. So I have always been fascinated by this game, but I don’t typically have whatever skills or gene required to do very well trying to fill in these puzzles. I can see the patterns, but I kept bombing even the “easy” puzzles. Those little boxes in the big boxes on this killer sudoku that let me know what the numbers each add up to are a lifesaver!!! Finally a way for me to have more confidence and certainty that I’m not just pulling a number out of thin air (and then getting it wrong). I’ve played more of this successfully than any other and am even willing (and have successfully) played some higher levels that I would never try with the traditional sudoku that I’ve seen. Yes. Love it. Only had it for a few days so far and I’ve played like 10 games I believe. Thank you

Fun, but outdated. This is a fun game, but here are some improvements that could drastically improve the game: 1) Add an option to have all cells start with every number filled out as a note. It’s annoying to need to spend 5 minutes for every game typing out the number 1 through 9 in most cells. Even maybe have an option where the possible numbers only are filled out already 2) Some Expert levels are easier than others. I like the hardest ones, but since it picks the game by random, I restart games several times until I a low success percentage. I wish I could set a range that I only want puzzles that have a success rate of less than 60%, for instance. 3) There should be a level for Extreme, where some of the groupings aren’t numbered and some of the no-numbered cells have a “greater than” or “less than” signs between them. These difficulties exist elsewhere, but I wish this app had it.

New design changes. I really love this game and have been playing it for quite some time now, I generally have no complaints and love playing this game especially when I don’t have service. However this last week I noticed some things had been changed. I didn’t really mind any of the changes except for one. I’m a big fan of the expert stages, but I always use the notes Function on every box. However since these changes I’ve noticed that you can no longer drag your finger over the note numbers to put them in a box, instead you have to tap each number individually which can be quite tedious and really brings up the time it takes to beat a stage. This was upsetting to me because I realized I will probably never get a new high score. I know the developers probably what changes this because of on review but I bet I’m not the only one having this problem.

WAS a great app. I thoroughly enjoyed this up until the latest update. I played every single day unless real life precluded it. Since the last update, I have not seen a single daily puzzle harder than a medium. This means a maximum of 4 minutes of my time. So naturally I decided that the new “event” must contain the challenging puzzles. My mistake, after 19 puzzles (of 50), not a single puzzle beyond medium. This includes several easy after a medium, so it is not as if the levels get harder! At this point, I am not sure I will play the game on a regular basis; maybe if I have finished all other games I like and maybe then I will only choose a challenging puzzle not the daily “challenge” which is not a challenge. I may keep the app because my 4th grade grandson is learning to enjoy Sudoku and he MIGHT like some easy to complete! I don’t know if the developers had complaints about puzzles being too hard, but this change has ostracized a die-hard sudoku fan!

Killer???. First, let me say that I can do math but do not enjoy it. I can do Sudoku because it is really a logic puzzle and not really math. I read the description of Killer Sudoku, where it says that this is much harder than regular sudoku, and almost did not download it because of that. But it said there were levels that anyone could play, so I decided to give it a shot. Well. This is actually far, far easier than regular sudoku. The “extra” regions give clues and allow you to determine the correct numbers which belong in several of the boxes, before you even start “doing sudoku”. I have no idea why the developers would label this “Killer”, as it actually makes the game far easier to finish. That said, I do like this; it is nice to have something a bit different. But I will also not be deleting my traditional sudoku app. There are times when I am in the mood for more of a challenge.

Technical problems. I really like sudoku puzzles, and this is challenging enough to be interesting. However I tried hints button several times with different puzzles but it never worked. I also find that I occasionally brush a number on my way to the number I want and the wrong number goes into the puzzle. I don’t mind having the mistake when I actuality put in the wrong number, but it is irritating when it is accidental. Don’t know if you can make the number keys slightly less sensitive or if the problem is with my iPad. I really love this game, but I am deleting it from my iPad. They now interrupt the game with ads often. This interrupts my concentration on the solutions and is quite disruptive. Ads between games is fine but not interrupting my play. Good bye killer sudoku, and remember you are no the only game in town!

Loved it before, not anymore. I’ve been playing this app pretty much non-stop for the last 12 months or so, and paid for the ad-free version. Super awesome brain workout, especially on the expert level, which I especially loved. Except the last couple of days, the developers made a slight change that pretty much destroyed my enjoyment: oftentimes, expert level requires testing out specific numbers to see if there are conflicts down the road. Up until a few days ago, you could click the “undo” button to return to where you made the change, pretty much without limits. Now, you can only go back 25 steps, which taking into consideration that a single cell could have up to 9 notes, is really inadequate (and super annoying). I normally don’t write reviews, but this irked me so much, I felt I had to. Please, change it back, or make it optional!

Great Game; New Ad Policy-I’m out. I’ve enjoyed this game for quite awhile. However, they’ve recently introduced a new ad plan that just infuriates me. Historically, there’d be an ad between games and when you start. In the last few days, ads are showing up in the middle of playing a game. And, they’re lengthy. I believe that it is timed. So, I’m out. I’m deleting this game. What a shame. I really enjoyed it. But, I wouldn’t recommend unless you’ve got the patience to have ads interrupting; and breaking your train of thought; and wasting your time. I completely understand why we have ads. This is just over the top! Good luck! I give the developers credit….they promptly responded to my issue and indicated their intention to correct. Everyone makes mistakes and I rushed to judgement. So, I retract my prior comments and await the changes that they are working on. Thanks for following up.

Hard to see. Interface is easy to use. Preset numbers are black and numbers you pencil in are dark blue. Not enough contrast to easily discern which are pre-existing and which you wrote in. I tried to see if there was a way to change the font color... not there. Also magnifying glass doesn’t help me see the number total in the corner of the cages. It’s super super small. I’ve also mistaken some cage groups when they extend over to another 3x3. It would be helpful if the dotted line was in red or another contrasting color. Also when I initially started playing, I accidentally hit a wrong number- one that was not my intended target. Wasted an error bc of mistyping. There should be some way for it not to count if it is corrected immediately. I ended up turning off the error count in settings. Fix these and the game would be perfect. Disclaimer- This is my first killer sudoku. I do enjoy it. I’m not sure if others address the above issues or if they’re all the same.

One issue.... I really enjoyed this game! It’s packed with all sorts of amazing levels! The idea of making “killer sudoku” is great and I love how you can change the difficulty level as you get better at the game. I had been playing for a while and I decided to try an expert level. One of the cages in the expert level said 9 in the corner so I knew this cage had to add up to 9. Based on other numbers around it, I knew one of the digits had to be 5. But when I put 4 in the other cage, knowing that 5+4=9, the number became red and it said that answer was wrong. So I tried 3. It worked. But when you add five plus three it only equals 8! At this point I was so confused but this happened more and more times in the level like it said that 7 plus 5 is 14 and I just stopped the game. I would have rated five stars if it wasn’t for that level.

Yes a bit harder. If you are a regular player of sudoku and have never played this version before, start out with medium.. then work up to hard. That one is challenging but keeps your brain active. Using a combination of regular sudoku rationalizations, and the new ones you learn in this version you can solve all of the hard. The boards are well done, easy access to hard choices and for notes. I love how it eliminates numbers that are completed, and highlights choices. The software also keeps track of your records, losses and wins, how long it takes, scores, and such. The background of the game is simple...the developers could add a color back ground, art, to add more value. If you want to move to expert level, be sure you Google this type of Sudoku and learn how to use the 45 methods. That’s challenging! Great job.

Great to disappointed. Edit: I’ve been reading through other reviews and I’m glad I’m not the only one who is very upset about mid game ads. Even reviews from ONE YEAR AGO saying they had this issue and on of the developer replies said they were going to get rid of the mid game ads, seems that was a lie. Their only other responses are well just pay for ad free…no because we play it because it’s free. I understand ads help you to make money to keep it free but it’s sudoku not a high tech action game…seriously there can not be a high enough expense to have ads play 3-5 times from start to finish of one game of sudoku... I’ve played call of duty free on my phone and had zero ads and other high animation games that only play one ad after each round (which is fine). You guys need to reevaluate your ads placements…seriously. I loved this game ever since I started playing it, the fun of sudoku with the added challenge of adding up the numbers to fit the certain boxes. It was my constant go to game, but all these ads recently have really made it a lot less fun. I was fine with the ads after you complete a puzzle, no problem, but now I get 2 or 3 ads every game randomly throughout the middle of playing my rounds. I go to fill in a square and boom random ad, it’s infuriating and super annoying. Sadly, I’m going to have to uninstall because of this reason and search for a new sudoku that doesn’t have ads pop up in the middle of my game play.

Ads are the downfall of this app. I agree with so many others!! I havent had a chance to play this sudoku in quiet a while but i always enjoyed the double challenge - but the number of ads today is just so over the top- i never remember it having ads before ( so they must have been minimal) —now they just pop in -in the middle of my moves - at random & they are WAY too numerous & too lengthy- getting aggravated & frustrated sort of defeats the purpose! Think ill just go back to one of my books of Sudoku puzzles instead. Maybe others have more patience. Too bad i really liked this version - but judging from the dates on similiar reviews the developer has had quite some time to change this issue& hasnt! ( I made a decision a long time ago that i would NOT download any of the irritating game ads that interrupt me in a game i have already been playing- so me being subjected to them is also completely pointless. THEY WILL NEVER GAIN A NEW CUSTOMER IN ME & all payers shud be forewarned of the EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF ADS IN THIS GAME! Its a crazy excessive amount imo.) so sad to say— goodbye.

Remove pre-game percentage box. I love this app, I have an ad free version. While I enjoy seeing the statistics often provided upon game completion, recently a new pop up statistic appears at the beginning of each game letting us know what percentage of folks were able to complete this particular game. Please provide a way to turn this feature off. It gets in the way of beginning the game quickly and if you have happened to select a box for your first move it changes it to the box in the upper left corner. If you don’t notice this you are likely to begin by making an error. And do we really need to know this bit of information? If we do, please just tell us upon game completion. Otherwise I think this is a great app and will give it 5 stars if you can get rid of the pre-game stats.

I love this game!. I play this game several times per day. It’s so relaxing and adds a great strategy to regular sudoku. There is a defect that I would like the developer to fix. If you have a 3 square cage that is shaped like an “L” instead of a straight line, when you solve one of the squares in the cage that solved number is removed from the other squares in the cage. For example if my 3 squares add up to 12, if one of the squares is 3 then the app removes 3 from all the possibilities in that row and column and block PLUS from the other two squares in the cage. If your cage goes between two different blocks, like if my “3” solved square in a cage with sum 12 is in a different block than the other two squares, it should not remove the 3 from the diagonally adjacent square. Because it is possible for the squares adding up to 12 to be 3, 6, 3. This has messed up my games many times so I’m on the lookout for it now. Fix for this defect: when you solve a square only remove that number from the possibilities in the row, column, and block. Ignore the other possibilities in the same cage.

It was fun till i paid for it.. 3 mistakes and 1 hint limit for the free version made it challenging and fun. Keeping a long streak of wins was actually exciting, but then i paid for the app and the thrill is gone. Im so disappointed, like what is the point? You really have to try and lose to lose at this game. And the challenges and rankings are absolutely worthless because you can just take unlimited hints and clear a game in no time, making you the fastest player online. Games with rankings shouldnt have a pay to win feature like this one has. If you like this game and want to keep it challenging, dont pay for it A couple more things. On the paid version there is an option to restart a game, this button is in the same position “new game” would be, so you will accidentally click it sometimes. Tge downside is that doing so resets your winning streak which is the one statistic that matters to me. I had twenty wins in a row wiped because i accidentally clicked that button. Lastly, the error graphic is very hard to discern from the correct graphic, so many times when i make a mistake i wont even notice and ill continue making mistakes till i lose the game because dark red is really hard to differentiate from dark blue in a thin font. Even worse, the correct animation animates from red to blue.

Just missing on thing!. I love this app so much! The only thing it’s missing is a night mode. I play this at night to help my brain wind down and be distracted while I get tired, it really helps with my anxiety. It would be so handy to have a night mode so the brightness doesn’t disturb my husband. Please please add a night mode!

Unsolvable Puzzles??. I used to have this app a couple months back and loved it. I only recently downloaded it again but I’ve been having some issues. I’ve gotten 4 or 5 puzzles that are just... wrong? Like the numbers won’t equal the right sum, or I try every number in one square and it says all of them are wrong? I hope u can fix this cause I really enjoy Killer Sudoku 🙂

Annoying pop up notice at start of game. I have been playing Killer Sudoku for more than a year and really enjoy it. A recent change though has a wildly annoying pop up notice on the screen at the start of every game stating the percentage of selected players that were able to complete it. There doesn’t seem to be any way to switch it off and, while it goes away when you start playing, is really really irritating. I don’t care and don’t need to “feel good” about myself by being in the percentage of players that succeeded. Please get rid of it!!

Great app, fun game. I enjoy playing Killer Sudoku, I do find these a little easier than in some other apps, maybe it’s just me. I paid for the ads because I found them too obtrusive, but I think $8 is a fair price, I’m grateful it’s not subscription-I would have stopped playing. It’s unfortunate that some people give the game a low rating because of their own inability to solve basic math.

2 ads per game. One of the funnest parts of this game is seeing how fast you can finish each puzzle. Unfortunately there’s now TWO ads per game, which completely break concentration and rhythm. I know I can purchase the game to remove the ads but at this point I might as well just download a different app-there’s many to choose from.

Has forced full screen ads. The game itself leaves much room for improvement…. But the real issues is ads. The banner ads itself is perfect. It is, however, the forced full screen ad, is the problem. It made the game less enjoyable, unable to play, more so.. forces players to loose concentration… Of course, the pr team would write a typical scripted response that yields no satisfaction nor results.. so it’s pointless for them to even think about responding. I would recommend that you do not bother installing this app.

Ads are ridiculous. I would rate this game at 5 stars if not for the relentless ads. Yes I know that’s why it’s free but they are out of control. I love the first try challenge but some ads are now over a minute long. Also I finish a game and the ad comes on, I then click continue and play for the next game and guess what, the same long ad comes on again before I can play. This is really annoying. I have pulled out of playing a few times now in frustration and no longer play it as much as I used to. Just to let Royal Match and Merge Mansion know that doubling the length of the ads does not make me want to play them, in fact it makes me never want to play them

Good functionality, too easy & too many ads. Great functionality, but not as hard as I’d like it. I play expert and the challenges are just a boring slog as they almost never do expert ones. To finish an expert game you have to watch like 6 ads throughout (with random pops saying things like “GENIUS!”). There are other almost identical apps that are much better if you’re just after puzzles without the social media vibes and head-pats.

Over print. I just love this game . The only gripe I have is the way it changes the numbers over the top of each other. You accidentally brush a number and number changes hence an error. I constantly do it with my elderly fingers and very much dislike the error result. Another game I have doesn’t do that so I am hoping you can adjust this game. Too easy for my little finger to brush the numbers at the side and cause an error . Have restarted twice today and a little over it.

Dumbing Down. I used to to love playing the daily challenge, it was part of my daily ritual. Unfortunately the recent change to the difficulty of the Daily has made it no longer worth the effort to play. I’m afraid that if you continue with the very easy games I will be deleting the App. I’m sorry about this because I have had a lot of fun playing in the past.

Great additional challenge. I’ve done thousands of expert sudokus and this is an excellent way to make sudokus just that extra bit more challenging for those of us becoming bored of regular sudoku puzzles. A normal expert sudoku will take me an average of about 5 minutes. But the expert killer sudokus take me around 10-15 minutes. I would give this a 5/5 but the only gripe I have is that the hint feature isn’t nearly as useful as it is for the alternative regular sudokus. Instead it just gives you the correct number for whatever cell you have highlighted. Whereas, the original sudoku app gives you an explanation as to why a cell is what it is and provides a learning experience as well. I hope this feature is improved in the future because it would really help new users learn some of the unique aspects to these new type of puzzles. Thank you developers for making sudokus so accessible and fun for regular joes like us.

Killer sudoku. This game was great and it had a super fun twist on a normal Sudoku. The only thing I would like to change is the part where you only get three mistakes because some hitch’s you may get bumped or accidentally press the wrong number and then you have to watch a video to keep your progress. I understand that the adds are how the app makes the money but I would just prefer it if there wasn’t this rule.

Update. Seeing that you take notice of recommendations, I would like to make another suggestion. This is primarily for the “expert” version of the game. I just started a game where all numbers 1 to 9 needed to initially be entered in 18 cells of the game. I find this very repetitive. To speed up the game without affecting its difficulty to any great degree, could a “Fill Notes” button be available on the page. This could either show all the time or only when Notes was enabled. I foresee various options in how this could be done. Option 1 - when the button is pressed, all notes 1 to 9 are entered in the blank square(s). This could be able to be configured by the user in Settings to apply to either All blank cells, or only the Selected cell. This is the simplest option and should not be difficult to program. The user would then adjust these numbers. Provided your program is able to identify the number of cells in a cage, the following options could be developed: Option 2 - (this is my preferred option) when the button is pressed, only possible notes are entered in the blank square(s). Let’s look first at 2 cell cages. If the total is ‘3’, the numbers 1 & 2 only would be entered, if the total is ‘4’, only numbers 1 & 3, if ‘5’, numbers 1, 2, 3 & 4, if total ‘6’, numbers 1, 2, 4 & 5 etcetera. NO consideration would be made by the program as to what the contents were of other cells in providing a result. Similar input would apply for cages where more cells were involved. In a 3 cell scenario where the total was, for instance, 23, numbers 6, 8 & 9 only would result. Option 3 - this is similar to option 2 except, in this case, consideration is given to numbers already entered or not available due to possible numbers being excluded, as they are already being used in another possible answer. Example: in a 2 cell scenario with a total ‘15’, where normally answers 6,7,8 & 9 are available, the numbers 8 & 9 would not be returned by the program if they were excluded by a separate 2 cell possibility where the total is ‘17’ and numbers 8 & 9 would be required to fill those cells. This would be more difficult to program and I feel would vastly reduce the difficulty of the game. Please consider.

Crashes Don’t like the new colours. It constantly freezes up and I have to close it down and restart it regularly. The new colours make it hard on my eyes to see what I’m doing, please make this optional so that, if you don’t like it, you can change it back to plain black on a white background!

change the event format please. i love the game so much but i wish the format of the events was the way it used to be ie a grid of 5x5 where you could pick which one you wanted to do first. The layout of it currently, where you have to do one at a time and you can’t pick it, makes it seem very long and makes me not want to do any of the events

Disappointed with update. I love playing this. Never have any problems with freezing or crashing. But I don’t like the new upgrade which doesn’t allow my finger to slide across multiple numbers anymore. Each one has to be tapped individually.

Ads in the middle of a game !. Until recently I would have rated this higher, but the game now has started showing adverts in the middle of a game instead of just when you needed another hint, or resuming a paused game. Incredibly frustrating when you work out a solution and just as you start to enter the answer an advert pops up ! Makes me lose my train of thought and have to start over. Who thought this was a good idea ? Edit : Four, yes FOUR, adverts in one game this morning. I see from other reviews you have been promising (for some time) to fix this but you have not. Time to delete this game and try one of the other Sudoku games !

Ads. The ads annoy the bejesus out of me. I don’t mind the short ones, a person needs to make a living, but the long ads and those which leave me dangling are coercive, exploitative and manipulative. I can hardly wait until I can find another app with the same great game format and an ethical approach to ads.

Ads, ads and more ads.... Back in October 2021 when the mid game ads were introduced, the developer said in a number of responses to the negative reviews that “...ads will be removed from the middle of the game...” Nearly 6 months later, and they are still there and more frequent and have also been introduced in other versions of the game. Why promise something you don’t intend to deliver! And no, I will not be using the paid version. Who says in the future you won’t do the same and introduce advertising there as well!

Downgraded from good. This was a solid game, I spent hours playing game after game. For some reason, the developer seems to repeatedly pull out features. When I messaged them in the app to ask what the go was, they said “for better app performance”. This is pretty basic app & it definitely wasn’t suffering from app performance. The particular settings were also able to be toggled in the settings… makes no sense Looking at some of the other reviews, it seems like this is a reasonably regular occurrence.

Too many adds in the game.. I understand that I can pay for no adds but I don’t do that. I am happy to watch an add CB or 2, but every other number is ridiculous. I have just gone through less than half a game and had over 15 adds. I stopped counting and now I’m going to delete the game. 1 or 2 at the end of a game I will do, but not over 15 and less than half done. Frustrating, very frustrating.

Locks up my iPad. Worked beautifully for years and years but since the upgrade to multiple game options on the Home Screen my iPad has been locking up. The game opens in portrait mode and will not turn to landscape. It also won’t let me close the game, I have to turn the iPad off. Problem is I’m then locked out of the iPad completely for several minutes. (iPad air 4th Generation)

Recent update incredibly poor. I’ve enjoyed this game for a long time, and even though the ads were annoying, I could put up with that. However the recent update cleared out my 1000 game streak, and changed the daily challenges from hard/expert down to easy/medium, making them unenjoyable and not challenging at all. There have been other changes made to the visuals and gameplay which also feel like a downgrade. I don’t understand why these changes were made, and they have reduced my overall satisfaction with the game.

Love it but the UI is annoying. The UI changed a couple of days ago, making the gameplay a little irritating. Whereas before, you could swipe in possible numbers, now they can only be added one at a time, and there is a noticeable lag when doing so. I still love it, makes a nice change from regular sudoku

Intrusive ads. Love the game and I don’t mind seeing the ads before and after a game or when I want a second chance but you are now displaying them in the middle of the game and you lose concentration. You have previously said you would remove these ads but I have updated the app and it is still doing it. Will probably have to stop playing if this continues .. sorry

Great game, but ads getting annoying. I really like the game as an interesting variation to standard Sudoku. My issue is that the ads are becoming more and more intrusive, popping up every couple of moves and then having to wait 30 seconds for the ad to finish, breaking your train of thought, and making the games much longer than they should be. No longer something you can do if you have a quick 5 minutes to fill.

Rules aren’t clear. Game play is fine, same issues as classic sudoku, however the rules don’t mention whether a number can be repeated in a cage, and the support team don’t understand how the game works. Clarification needed: In classic sudoku a number cannot be repeated in a row, column, or block. In killer sudoku, the concept of a cage is introduced, which is an irregular shaped area that has a number displayed that is the sum of the numbers in the cells within that area. In this 'cage', can a number be repeated if it is not repeated in a row, column, or block? Updated: rule confirmed- can’t repeat in cage. The rule is on the website, just not accessible anywhere in or via the app.

A great app destroyed. I was really loving this app, played it heaps every day but now, suddenly in the middle of actions a stupid face pops up followed by an ad. Often it’s just as I’m on a train of thought. This happens a number of times throughout a game, sometimes every minute or so. So very disappointing. I’m used to ads in many apps and this app had an ad or two between games which I tolerated because the game was good and uninterrupted. Now the frequent interruptions have forced me to stop playing and to delete it altogether. It’s not worth it.

Disappointed. I have enjoyed playing killer sudoku for a few years now. Unfortunately due to you latest updates, I have to delete your game and I’m sure I’ll miss it. I understand the need for ads to generate funds for the developers, however, I can’t abide the latest trend of ads frequently disrupting play mid game at regular intervals. It’s not only rude but it show a mindset of being time-greedy at the gamers expense. So disappointing.

Good game, needs some adjustments. I love this game, play it every day. Have recommended this game to multiple friends. The ads can be annoying if you tend to pause the games a lot, but I don’t tend to do that so the ads don’t bother me much. I only tend to get ads in the middle of the game when I’m playing hard or expert levels. The thing that’s really bothered me recently though is that I’ve been getting expert level difficulties for the past month straight for the daily challenges. Yes, I like a challenge, but it’s gotten ridiculous. I don’t know if it has a bug in it or something, but getting the same level difficulty every day isn’t fun, especially when it’s in the realm of being too hard for me. After a day at work especially, I just don’t have the brain power for that level of difficulty. I’ve just reinstalled the app, so I hope that’s fixed it, but just a heads up that this is happening.

That first click. Just a suggestion… Could you please tweak the way the game starts? When you start a game the top left box is pre-selected. If I click on another box immediately and put a number in, the app doesn’t recognize that I’ve selected a different box, so that becomes my first of the three errors. I think you’re supposed to wait a few seconds before starting for the app to recognize the first click. Sometimes I remember to check that it’s caught up, but it’s very annoying when I use up an error because the app is slow. Also, way too many ads! Otherwise a good version of the game, thanks

Could be very good but….. …there’s room for design improvement to make it easier to use. The main one is providing separate tool for pencil notes rather than having to constantly toggle the same tool between pen and pencil marks. It easily leads to errors due to the wrong mode of the tool. Also the pencil marks are very faint, again leading to accidental errors. Have a look at the design of killer sudoku on Puzzle Page, theirs is much more superior design.

Good app for beginners. WAY too many ads!. I used to play this every morning while drinking my coffee, and while I loved it there are two reasons why I have moved on to a different app: 1. Once you’ve figured out the strategies the games provided here aren’t very challenging, even on the hardest level. 2. The amount of ads has increased from about 2 per game to at least 10. It really detracts from the playing and was the clincher for me to move to something else. If you’re not bothered by either of these then go for it. For a free game it has its perks, and is a good app to practice on.

Wish there was device syncing. Love the game! It definitely helps keep my mind quick and on the ball. Wish i could sync my game between my ipad and phone tho cause sometimes i would like to play it on my ipad instead. Edit: wish there was also dark mode, so i am not blinding my eyes with the main menu in the middle of the night

Initially, I thought this was easy!. Have loved playing Sudoku for many years now and, I think, I am a reasonable player. So when Killer Sudoku first appeared I thought with all the clues, and with all the numbers being indicated, once they have been added together, it would be easy! No! Not so at all. Still needs skill and thinking! Very enjoyable and, like, Sudoku, exceedingly good for the brain!

Really enjoyable game before ads took over. I really enjoyed playing this game, but since the frequency of ads has increased it has just become so annoying that I will delete the game. I had an ad before a 4 minute game and two(!) more ads during the game, before there was the ad after the game. The ads during the game make you loose your train of thought and make the game unattractive. Really disappointing.

Multiple solutions. I love this app. Play every day but I am surprised by it having puzzles with multiple correct solutions, according to sudoku rules. This should not be allowed. My last two puzzles had two possible, correct solutions, it only allowed one but the other possibility was valid and obeyed all the criteria for a correct solution. A pity for such a great app!

Would be great without ads in middle of game. The games themselves are great, lots of levels and choices, but the ads in the middle of a game make it unplayable, and despite the history of feedback against this development, the response that you can pay to get rid of them, rather than taking note of the negative feedback and removing them, only from the middle of the game, means I’ll be deleting this game.

Tooooo Many Ads!. I’ve been playing this game for a while now and really enjoy the gameplay but lately the ads are getting more annoying than ever. I realise that ads are the price we pay for free games but if it keeps on the way it is I won’t be sticking around. Short ads are tolerable, but when they simply won’t go away and I’m forced to close and reopen the app after every game I quickly lose patience.

Crashes.. but good support. Very good, except has started crashing after a minute of play.. update needed for new iOS? Unplayable at the moment. When fixed should be able to turn off hints to avoid mistouch, and make the Notes On mode more distinctive, too easy to enter a number when a note was intended. Addendum: The developers contacted me. Reinstalling the app has fixed the problem. Still not sure what caused the corruption, I think perhaps a low memory condition on the iPad in which case rebooting may have been enough, worth trying if it happens again. Commendable prompt service support, and they are now aware of the problem.

Ruined by ads. Good game, good interface but ruined by excessive ads. Before a game, after a game and often in the middle of a game too. Some ads literally lock up the iPad for a minute - nothing can free it up until the game somehow crashes. There is also an issue with some ads overlaying the number pad. Rotating the device back and forward sometimes fixes it but it can also lock up the device. Give me a mildly interesting ad at the beginning or end of a game. Devoting part of the screen to a banner ad mid game is ok but to then interrrupt the game, sometimes several times, with the same mindless, buggy ads, is just too much. It shows the developer is more interested in revenue than making a great gaming experience.

Love the game. I have enjoyed playing this game and the different levels but certain adds keep freezing the game for me. There is nothing you can do to get back to the game. I left the game on an add that wouldn’t finish it keeps on asking for your opinion. When I came back 7 hours later the add was still showing and I still couldn’t get back to the game.

Difficulty changed?!. I’ve been using this app for nearly 4 years doing the daily challenges. I’ve enjoyed that they are difficult with the occasional easy one but since the latest update every daily challenge has been easy and completed within <3 minutes. This kind of defeats the object of it for me. You can play one off games in any difficulty but I prefer to keep my streak going. If the difficulty doesn’t improve I may look at other apps :(

What’s with the ads?. With the frequency of adverts you guys inflict on us offering the same games over and over, that doesn’t make me want to spend money….. it makes me play your games less!! so it seems to be self-defeating. If you were more discriminating with your advertising, I might even watch them rather than just swiping out of the game. Also, while I will never buy individual games or give money for tokens or whatever, I could be interested in a modest subscription that would let me play advert free across a number of games. One subscription per game, however, is not of interest.

Ads in the middle of games now, seriously?. I have enjoyed playing this game for quite some time now, but since your last update it’s terrible! It tells me at the end of my games now that I have a new best time, no matter whether it’s faster or slower. And now ads in the middle of games. I mean come on! I don’t mind ads at the beginning and end, but it’s off-putting when you’re in the middle of playing a game. Do you have plans to change this? This is something that will make me delete your game and find another one if these mid-game ads don’t stop.

Too many ads!. This is a good game and all, but having an ad literally every 2 minutes is ridiculous. When playing there is an ad before and after every round, not to mention when playing a “hard” round they appear every 2 minutes along the way, even when on a run of filling it numbers. This makes you lose sense of where you were at and it’s just annoying. I’ve had this game for about a month but now deleting because of ads. Why do developers bother replying with a generic response, everyone knows ads rule the world because people need to get paid so just don’t bother rewording that kind of thing 🤷‍♂️🙄🤦‍♂️

Good but way too easy. Game works fine and I enjoy playing it but they need to add an extra difficulty above expert. The current expert level difficulty is way too easy. I hope they add a master level difficulty or something. I’ve played killer sudoku games elsewhere that have taken me hours over the course of several days to complete. The expert games in this app take on average 20mins. Not challenging at all.

Ads have increased WAY TOO MUCH. I previously rated this app 5 stars and have played nearly 3,000 daily plus extreme puzzles. We all understand the need for ad revenue to keep the game “free” (it’s not actually free - we pay for the app with our time watching ads for which you get revenue). You do not seem to understand the increase in ads has pushed this cost above what we are willing to pay for with our time. It seems your algorithm gives us an ad every (roughly) 3 minutes of playing time. For me I can guarantee an add around 3, 6, 9, 12 etc minutes. Today I opened the app and watched an ad. I did the daily puzzle in 11mins 24sec and had 3 ad interruptions. Then there was an ad on completion before I could accept the completion or do another puzzle. 5 ads for less than 12 mins playing time. That’s not mentioning the ever present ad banner or the increasing number of ads that crash the game. Plus the frustration of trying to solve a sticking point for a couple of minutes then getting an ad immediately upon entering a number because the 3 minute ad timer had ticked over - way to kill the thought process! Do you understand this is too much? Love the game. Want to keep playing. But the ads have simply gotten out of control.

New update is not good > excellent support. — > I uploaded the below comment and within a week the issue is solved?! Omg best feeling ever like my voice was heard from the sea of prayers. — The app now has new features from their update but fixed the time delay and bulky numerals. Deserves more than 5 stars!!!!! The new update has prevented me to move faster and break my own record. The response in clicking is too slow. Please fix.

The game is good, but the latest update is absolutely annoying. Before every game a message shows up telling me how many players solved the puzzle. I find this annoying since it brings the competitive edge to this game when I only play this game to relax. Shouldn’t there be an option to disable this? Also Daily Challenges got VERY EASY lately, to the point where it isn’t even a challenge anymore but something I can solve in under 2 mins.

Good game, but ….. Way too many frustrating ads.

publicite. trop de publicité c’est exagéré

All Ads. Every few moves is interrupted by ads. And the ad needs 3 or 4 clicks to get past it. And there is a pause between each time you can click.

Mis-oriented on iPad at open. Rated 4/5 stars because the app opens on my iPad in the incorrect orientation. The app home page opens oriented in negative 45º rather than 0º so I then have to tilt my iPad to the right to get the view to rotate clockwise to the proper orientation. (Killer Sudoku paid version 4.0.0, iPad Pro (4th gen) running up-to-date iPad OS 17.7).

Too many ads. Too many 30 second ads throughout the game, otherwise, I love playing Killer Sudoku.

White screen. The last couple of weeks this app displays a white blank screen often instead of an add. I have tried closing and reopening the app but that doesn’t seem to work. I have to close that app and leave it for sometime which is extremely annoying. Not always able to get back to finishing the puzzle.

Challenging game, well done. This game is challenging and there are not that many ads to make it annoying.

Ads. 5 ads per puzzle is a little ridiculous.

Great game, except for the interruptions. Some challenging puzzles, but the number of ads seems to have increased over time.

About the ads.... Love the game and the event challenges. What I'm less of a fan of are the ads in languages I don't understand. Looks like Chineese/Japanese/Korean, I speak or read none of them.

Unless you really like ads, don’t waste your time. Ada are bad enough in games, but when you are still playing a level, and after a few moves you get a 30 second ad. Then you continue with the same level, and after a few more moves you get another 30 second ad. I was expecting an ad to pop up while I was writing this! Be prepared for way too many ads, or simply do not download this game. Very disappointing.

Killer sudoku. Multiple errors in several puzzles. Can’t play if the game doesn’t have the math correct. Deleting this app

Bad update. The grid is smaller and hard to read the numbers. There is plenty of space to make the grid the size it was before this update. Please correct or make it dynamically sizeable.

Tons of ads. Tons of ads… the game will say “great job” then make you watch an ad. It’s excessive.

Fun. Mind relaxing game😍

Next Level. This is my Go To game every day. Drives me crazy but I love it!

Too many ads. I completely understand they’re just trying to make money. And I genuinely used to love this app but it got to the point where you got an ad every time you start a game, every time you end a game, and about every 3-5 moves in the game. Absolutely ridiculous. I stopped playing a few months ago and just decided to straight up delete it because I’m not going back to a game like that.

Buggy since last update. The app keeps closing while you’re playing. It is random and frequent. Sometimes it won’t even stay open a full minute. You have to return to your ‘open app’ screen and relaunch it. Extremely annoying.

Ads. Terrible update with ads right in the middle of a game….not just once, but sometimes two or three times…come on! Also scoring no longer works properly….every game is a personal best with no recollection of previous times. Fix it, please. Didn’t send this before hoping you would fix this but now I have just played my last game….goodbye!

If it’s not broken, don’t fix it?. I just had to re-install this better than average game and found out they “improved” it. It had this nice feature before that, when you got to the boring part where it is essentially done but you still have to fill in the blanks, they would do that automatically. Well, not anymore… So it just lost a lot of it’s appeal for me. Lost one star. Still a good game though.

Comments. Too many adds

Deleting. This was a good game however they first added ads in the middle of games which breaks the games momentum. Now periodically the game freezes and locks up my phone requiring a reboot. That is unacceptable so the app is going away now. Buh bye!

Killer Sudoku addictif. Merci pour ce beau jeu, clair, ludique. Pas trop d’annonce, pas de bugs. Continuez votre beau travail.

Way too many Ads!. It used to be my favorite game, but with the new update we now have advertisement mid-game!! Now I’m starting to hate it… will probably end up removing this game.

Ads kill the fun!. Terrific version of sudoku but TOO many LONG ads disrupt concentration and spoil the pleasure!

Good challenge. The App shuts down without warning, and shuts down other apps also. Deletes the pages I have open on Google Chrome and who knows what else it does. Find it necessary to delete the app to bring the iPad back to “normal”.

Pop up ads with annoying smiling thumbs up emoji. That feature has made it so that I no longer play this game, or frankly any of your other games. Whoever thought that up just pisses off your players

Way too many adds now. Loved playing this version but now adds are popping up constantly. This is very frustrating and I am moving on to another app. You ruined a good thing.

Great game. Awesome time filler helps keep you sharp

Ads. In the past few weeks this developer has decided to interrupt the game by placing ads 3 or 4 times while solving a puzzle. So annoying! I understand that bills need to be paid but perhaps only once, in the middle of a game, would be better. It really messes with your train of thought when a puzzle is interrupted so often.

A great game played daily. I have played this game now for over 4 years. I prefer to play the daily challenge and occasionally will play several games at a time. I find playing the expert level is the most enjoyable for me with the occasional hard one thrown in and the daily challenges used to reflect my skill level offering new ones each day. About 6 months ago the dailies changed and I ended up always getting easy or medium games which are way too easy and are not enjoyable at all. I wrote to ask why I was no longer getting dailies that reflected my skill level and did not get any response. This was disappointing as it is a good game. Unfortunately I have to actually chose the expert or hard levels now because the daily challenges are boring! Considering I paid for this game, I thought it would have merited a response at least. That is the only reason for my 4 star rating.

From the Same Developers of Classic Sudoku!. If you are a Sudoku fan, Killer Sudoku adds another dimension to the game using mathematical “groupings”. This can provide clues to solving puzzles, but also educates users to recognize patterns and discover new approaches to solving tougher challenges!… Some days I am in the mood for a regular Sudoku challenge, and other times I find that launching Killer Sudoku gives me a different kind of game play - this keeps my app experience from becoming “predictable” and I am still playing Sudoku regularly (even after years of pandemic isolation). Thanks! (Update) This app is still enjoyable after several years (since posting my original review). The frequent ad interruptions are something I have gotten used to (sadly an issue with many common apps), but I’m sure other users might enjoy this app more if the ad frequency was toned down somewhat. Thanks.

Have played this game daily for several years.. Now there just too many ads that interrupt the game and you have to figure out how to get rid of them. Seem to last for a long time. Would have given several stars but now giving it a 2. I’ll miss it!

This sucks. Why do they never match the ads, I’m the ads it was interesting and fun but I downloaded that app and it was nothing like and ad please please match the game to the ad

Soo many damn ads. You get an ad at the beginning of a game, 1 at the end and 3 during the game. Its ridiculous. Besides that its a good game.

Fatigue de me battre contre la publicité. Impossible sortir des publicités

Broken Puzzles?. Even with auto check on, puzzles come out unsolvable, some rows just missing a number and this will be correct according to auto check.

Too many ads now. I understand you need to make a living with ads, but there are too many ads in the middle of the game. I’ve enjoyed playing this game, but not anymore.

Too many ads but decent game. I love these games so much, and spend a lot of time playing. However with this app it is no longer fun. I understand having ads, I know it’s how they make the money but with this app the ads are ridiculous. In the middle of playing one games I can get between 4-7 ads. It ruins the experience and fun. Its non stop and I’ve been considering deleted the app entirely.

Too many ads interrupt in the middle of a game!. Fun enough app but the ads are out of control! I can understand before and after a game, but right in the middle completely destroys concentration and takes you right out of the game. If you aren’t willing to pay for ad-free, try another app instead.

Ads disrupt your fun. I enjoy the game but ads pop up frequently disrupting your thought process.

Great Game. Would rate it higher but I have to squint really hard to see the numbers. Causes me to make a lot of mistakes. Am I missing a magnifying feature?

Killer Sudoku. Ads are extremely disruptive and completely destroy a good game.

Great game - many ads. This puzzle game is one I enjoy probably more than any other, with great challenges at the expert level. I like the choice of choosing the level you want to play, along with other options. However, it is loaded with ads (they have increased a lot in the last number of months). I get several every game, and the cost to remove ads is pretty steep. I would purchase if I found it on sale.

Too many ads. I’ve been playing for some time now but have decided to uninstall. While the game is fun, there are far too many ads we are forced to watch. The irony is those ads are all for other games that all ask if you’re tired of playing games with too many ads! You only get one free hint per game and if you want another, you have to watch an ad. You might be right in the middle of a streak when you get interrupted to watch an ad. You can’t even start the game until you watch an ad! As I said, one star rating because there are far too many ads. I won’t ever play the games in these ads, just because of how annoying it is to be made to watch their ads. This could be a fun game to play and it should be fun but, too many ads so it’s time to delete this one! So, don’t waste your time unless you enjoy watching 10 to 15 ads per game!

Suddenly, a lot more ads.. So what you are saying is that you are having more ads as an encouragement (blackmailing us) to purchase the ad free payment to continue enjoying your game. I enjoyed this game for quite a while accepting that an ad sometimes is the price we pay. Now, the developers are inserting numerous ads during the play of the game. I get that they want to make money but now it is just getting stupid and a bit greedy. With lots of other choices out there, will likely play elsewhere.

Rate. Wonder game All my brain works hard

Jk. I love killer sudoku, but I can’t stand how I’m being held hostage with repeating ads that don’t let you leave them to return to playing the game. I’m leaving the game for this reason. Really fed up. Additional comments: I know games have ads, my issue is not being able to exit an ad. I need to exit the up to 6 times and this continues with the same ad for the rest of my play time.

Too many ads. I understand that ads help pay for the game, but do they have to interrupt right in the middle of a game? I used to like this game better before you started doing this. The game itself is interesting.

Was ok, too many ads now. I didn’t mind the ads after finishing a puzzle. Now I get ads before and after each puzzle. Lately the ads show up in the middle of doing a puzzle. The middle of the puzzle. Not cool. I like solving the puzzles as fast as I can. The ads in the middle of the puzzles throw off my groove. If you like at least 3 ads/game then this is for you. Not me. Uninstalled!

Much better!. Updated-they have made clicking out of ads so much easier than before. Playing this game is so much more enjoyable. 😁 If you are into clicking out of ads, this is the game for you. You click out of an ad and then you wait two seconds, and you have to click out of the same ad again and then you click the X again and it takes you to the App Store for that game. Then you have to click out of that and it takes you back to the ad where you have to click out of the ad to get back to the game. I understand the need for ads frequently for revenue, but this is out of control.

Not a fan of new update…. I’ve been playing this for months and have loved every second of it. This new update looks better, but one of the features on the old version I used on probably every square is gone now. This feature is where you can glide your finger from 1-9 and those notes will show up in the square. It’s a fairly minor thing when you think about it, but if someone’s trying to get a faster time, they’ve effectively doubled their times from the old version to this version. TLDR: The graphics look awesome, I love that part of the update, but please bring back the feature that allows you to glide from 1-9 to place notes! Thank you!!

Ads. I have enjoyed this game - up to now. A few days ago the ads were at the beginning and/or the end of the game. Now 2 ads are popping up DURING the game. Why would anyone want to continue with this app? It’s irritating and frustrating to be in the middle of the game, trying to figure out a square, and then have an ad interrupt. There is no fun trying to get back to where I was. I’ll give it a few more weeks and then I’m done. In the past I’ve recommended it to several people, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone as it is now. // Thanks for replying. If I could afford to pay for no ads, I would. For me, this game requires concentration and I’ve enjoyed the challenge, but I’ll move on to something else. Four stars.

Ads in the middle of the games continue. This is a good game but I don’t understand having ads pop up in the middle of the games. I see from the reviews people have been complaining about this for a while yet they continue. In November the developer responded to a reviewer that an ad free version can be purchased but that they were going to work on removing the ads in the middle of games yet they continue. Why say you’re going to stop it and then keep them going 9 months later? I understand if I want no ads I can purchase it but I don’t mind the ads if they aren’t in the middle of the games. Now I only play it for the daily challenge but I’m debating stopping now that I found out the developer is not true to their word and the ads will continue to pop up during the games.

Excellent game play and limited ads. I read some of the reviews and I’m not sure why people are saying there are too many ads. Only a few throughout each game and the best part about them is that you can skip them all after about 5 seconds and get back to playing quickly. Really wish all games used this mentality when it comes to the ads. I enjoy this version of sudoku because it’s a bit more challenging. Good job, developers. Edit: Auto-updated app on my other phone and now there are additional ads during gameplay. Very bad choice, developers. They were very tolerable previously, but not they are unbearable. This just pushes players to use airplane mode while playing — then you don’t get any ad revenue at all. Please re-consider this change. Also, REALLLLY tired of seeing the nasty weight loss ad and any of the Homescape ads.

Super annoying gambling adds.... so annoying it insults your intelligence. Game might be nice but I don’t understand how people are tolerating all these super annoying adds. A ton of gambling adds!!! The same adds keep showing up and up and up. It is so bad that it’s borderline insulting. But at least there is a choice to get rid of them for a fee which you can’t say of many other games. One annoyance I found is that when I correctly set a number then the game allows me to overwrite my correct choice with the wrong one. Why would anyone do that unless they fat fingered something unintentionally. Game should not allow overwrite correct choices and I guess the only reason why developer have designed the game that is to Intentionally make people watch those idiotic adds when they unintentionally fat finger something.

Frustrating Ads. I completely understand the need for ads when there are people like me who don’t want to pay. And therefore I accept the ads as a necessary evil, although I must admit there are times I end up clicking on them. When I first started playing this game I only had to deal with ads once I had completed a puzzle. Recently that has changed. Now it seems once you get midway through a puzzle you have to pause to view an ad. When you exit out of the ad (which is sometimes not possible but that’s a separate issue) and return to the puzzle you may only enter a few more numbers and it jumps to an ad once again. I have had to endure up to seven or eight ads before completing one puzzle. It is now exceeding my level of tolerance.

Bug within game. Hi, I really enjoy killer sodoku and I normally like to complete the expert games. I also love to keep up with streaks or increase my stats with the no-mistake games, however the game has been having a lot of bugs. Sometimes when I input a number that should be correct, it tells me I’m wrong. And so then I get confused and check for my mistakes and can’t see what I did wrong, so then I turn off mistake count and try every single number and none of them works. And not just that, sometimes it’s just blatantly wrong, like the number that ended up being correct doesn’t even add up to the number at the corner of the block. And it just messes up my entire streak and flow. It is so frustrating. This happens at least once every four games.

Love the game but app is horrible. I’m not sure if it’s a result of a recent update or what as I’ve played via this app for years; however, it’s been glitching horribly lately. It started off where there would be a delay when tapping numbers, then response would get so bad I’d restart the app. Last night was the worst. At 11:02pm PDT, it froze my iPhone screen for 15 hours. No standard reset actions would unfreeze the phone. I had to contact Apple, and they were able to get my phone reset. Unfortunately, that was after I triggered the SOS function while toggling the various buttons to reset (since my screen was frozen so I couldn’t see what was actually happening), and initiating a call to 911 and texts to all the people on my emergency contact list. I’ve removed this app as I can’t risk it freezing my screen again. I’ve had no issues with my phone or any other apps except this one.

Good game but with a few bad things.. This is a pretty nice sodoku app with a pretty smart twist to it. I generally like it, but there are a few things that seem a bit off. One of these things is the tutorial. I am playing off of an iPhone eight and right now the words in it are spreading on to the pictures so both are pretty hard to see. The other thing that I just generally don’t like is the fact that you can’t really put a specific number sequence in the notes section such as trying to find possible outcomes to ten you would do 5 in one, 5 in the next. That works, but when you put more numbers in them, it just can’t put them even in time order. Other than those two things, this game is pretty good and is worthy of being tried out.

Too easy!. So I’ve had this game for probably 2 years and have really enjoyed it. I have done almost all of the Daily Puzzles and really enjoy completing them. But for the past few weeks all of the puzzles have been RIDICULOUSLY easy. They all say “only 95% of people have solved this one.” Most of them have been 97 or even higher. This is a waste of my time and now I’m not bothering with the daily puzzles any more. Which means I’m barely doing any puzzles at all now. Bring back the harder puzzles! And while I’m complaining— too many in-game ads have ruined the experience. It used to be 1 ad when you finish the first number. Now there is often a second or even third ad. It won’t be long before I stop playing this entirely— there are too many similar games for me to play ones which annoy me and waste my time.

The Challenge “Sweet Spot”. I really like the difficulty grading on this app - to me that’s what sets it apart. With most sudoku apps the “Hard” level is way too easy but the “Expert” level feels literally impossible. Killer Sudoku is perfect because the hard level is actually harder than average. I’ve never been totally stumped by it, but it does take more careful effort and is a good amount of challenge for the casual player. The expert level is why I love the app. It’s really a challenge, and you have to focus and think creatively, but it’s still achievable! If I spend enough time on it I can get it. Other sudoku fans probably know what that sweet spot is like, and I think this app does a good job of offering it.

Great game, Disable latest Tactile Update. I love this game and have played multiple times a day for over a year now. It’s great for fidgeting while watching TV or performing other tasks. The most recent update changed the tactile feel of putting in numbers to where you can no longer swipe through a few digits while entering notes. For example, if I need to get 24 in three squares, I know that’s always going to be 7-8-9. Swiping through 7-8-9 while in Notes mode moves the game along faster. I noticed the same update on the regular sudoku game as well, and I would prefer a way to disable this new “individual digit only” input method or revert back to the smoother input.

Needs easier way to insert numbers. I would like to see the option to insert the same number over and over with a touch of a finger. For instance, if I determine I need a 4 in one spot that may allow me to see it for the next 4 goes and then the next 4 goes, etc. I can’t lock in the 4 and touch it at different places on the screen. I have to go back and touch the four every time before I can insert it to the screen. Other sudoku games I play offer of that as an option. This game is challenging on the upper levels, and I like that. One flaw, however, is the difficulty in transitioning from numbers to the “notes” option.

Ads interrupt the game. Same old story. The lie and say they will remove the ads from the middle of the game but they don’t. Then they disingenuously say they need ads in order to keep the game free, pretending there’s no such thing as ads BETWEEN games. Even more ridiculous is the ads are in portrait mode and will push you into portrait mode even if you were playing in landscape so you have to reorient the game EVERY TIME you are interrupted, which is multiple times per game. This is a fun sudoku format and I used to play all the time but after waiting months for the developers to keep their promise, I am out of patience and will delete. Update: they keep lying and saying soon they will keep the ads from interrupting game play but they have been saying that for months and they clearly have no interest in fixing it. After months of waiting I have deleted the game.

Bring back harder puzzles!. I play Killer Sudoku every day, I love the daily challenges and the events they have, and the interface is super clean. However, after the new update the puzzles are just way too easy! Not trying to be "that" guy but even on expert difficulty it takes me no more than 10 minutes to solve these puzzles, where as before I would sometimes work an expert level puzzle for up to 30 minutes. The Daily Challenges aren't even worth it anymore as often times they will give me a medium or hard puzzle which are just way too simple for my experience level. This app is great for new players looking to learn the beautiful patterns and techniques of killer sudoku puzzles, but please bring back the more difficult puzzles for advanced players!!

The New Update Ruined this App. I paid for ad free because I love this app so much and use it everyday but the new update has removed multiple critical features and made the notes button harder to differentiate between on and off. You used to be able to slide between numbers to quickly make multiple notes at once. For example if you saw a 3 tile box labeled 6, you could turn on notes and slide your finger across 1, 2, and 3 to quickly note your options. In addition to this the new update got rid of the feature where notes would be removed from a box when you entered that number into the box. For example, let’s say you have a three tile 14 box with 3, 5, and 6. Before if you entered 5 the five would be removed from all notes in the box. Now you have to manually remove the 5 note from the other tiles in the box.

Going downhill. Up until today, when you clicked in a cell it would show you all the possible combinations of numbers that would fit in that group of cells. Todays that is gone. And I don’t see an option to turn it back on. Why remove a feature altogether? If some people don’t like it then make it an option. Also, the change in the font/color scheme is difficult. When turning notes on and off the colors are too similar and I have to really pay attention to whether it is on or off. It used to be easy to differentiate. I have been trying my best to deal with the ridiculous mid game ads, but these recent changes might be my final reason to leave. Really disappointed.

New changes disappointing. I have loved this game for a long time but the new changes reduce my desire to play it. I’m not worried about ads because I want you to make money and keep improving the game, but the recent loss of the ability to swipe the numbers to rapidly put notes in a cell is aggravating. As well as the delay now in the audio feedback when doing anything. An issue I’ve noticed for a long time is that when I’ve selected a correct number for a cell, if I bump a different number accidentally while that cell is selected, the game removes the correct number and inserts a wrong guess. When a cell has the correct number in it it should be locked and be unable to be selected.

Fun…when it works. Been enjoying this for a while …until yesterday. In the last two days I have encountered nine puzzles that are unsolvable because of the way they were set up. Either the math combo stated is wrong or there may be only one number that can be left in a row to insert but it conflicts with the same number in another row that was part of the puzzle when it opened. This needs to be addressed or this game will have to go. I received a response to my critique saying all puzzles are solvable and to turn on auto notification of a wrong entry. I have always had that on, and no, they are not all solvable. I’m also noticing the amount of interrupting ads has greatly increased. Not about to pay to stop them so likely will just delete this app and download a different one.

I used to love this game but…. Update, i received a reply from the developer who assured me that the ads would not interfere with the game experience. So, today, i did one puzzle taking 3 minutes and 21 seconds to complete. During that time, i was interrupted by THREE ads. Three in a little over 3 minutes. What more can I say? I have been playing this game for months and I really enjoy it. However, the latest update has multiple ads while you are in the middle of a game. I don’t mind ads between games but not 3 or 4 in the 5 minutes it takes me to complete the puzzle. Also many of the ads do not allow you to X out after the ad plays. So I have to exit the game and come back. It’s just getting to be too much of a hassle. Yes, I know I could pay $4.99 for no ads but that’s more than the game is worth. I’d pay $1.99 or maybe $2.99 at most. Sorry guys I’ll be leaving.

This WAS a great App, but after update too easy. I have been enjoying this App daily for over 4 year now and the reason I found it was the name Killer Sodoku. There are 10s of standard Sodoku Apps out there, but this added a nice twist and the Expert level was challenging enough to require thought and effort. However, AFTER the update I don’t think there has been a single Epert level daily puzzle yet when they used to be most days. Maybe that was feedback from other customers that it was too hard, but I appreciated he challenge. Like I said there are plenty of places I can go for brainless Sodokus, I don’t just want a time waster. With the negative I will say the new layout was definitely appreciated with the darkened larger grid and the larger numbers to select helped reduce my “typos”. So it wasn’t all bad. I do miss the bottom left on the display where it listed the possible combinations per selections. That did help on some of the Expert games. All in all I have been a big fan, but just wish the daily puzzles went back to more Experts and less Easy and Mediums. Even the weekly events now have more Easy and Mediums and less Hards.

Stuck in portrait mode since update. Like this game a lot, however, I always use my iPad in landscape mode. Since the last update, this app will not “rotate” ….. Edit: was perhaps a little harsh in awarding 3 stars and have since changed the rating. This is actually a very fun game, and I play at least the daily challenge every day. I would recommend one pay for the “no ads” it is well worth it. As far as the above issue: a temporary fix, if the iPad has the rotation lock on, go to the control panel, and turn off the lock. Rotate the iPad to the Porträt mode, start the game, then rotate the pad back to landscape. Again, this is temporary as the game will revert to portrait configuration.

Will there be live tournaments?. Love the game, have been playing for about 3 years now. I like to play it to jump start my brain most mornings. Having a clock on it really motivates you to complete each board as fast as you can with little to no mistakes. I used to like the original sudoku but now I will never play it outside of this format. Killer Sudoku allows for much more difficult boards of sudoku to be completed without having to guess and check. I would be interested in live tournaments of the game, I think the HARD level would be great for both measuring speed and complexity. Everybody has the same board and you eliminate 50% of the field each round until the final round and the fastest player wins.

A diehard. I’d been playing sudoku on paper for years. Got an iPad, uploaded the game and loved it more. However, Killer Sudoku on my iPad tops even that. The logistics and strategies needed to win must be considered nonstop. The occasional “expert” level games, once won, fill me with joy. The 9-day challenges, where one earns a gold medal, are terrific, too. I will play while watching tv less entertaining shows in the evening. I think the Pandemic is part of the reason I play so much. I also figure it is excellent brain exercise. Why not? I was working on the most recent 9-day challenge when my opinion was requested. I’ve got only 23 hours left and must get back to it. Great game!

Screen rotate concern and still hoping for small notes enhancment. Great game play. When playing on an iPad in landscape orientation (normal orientation when connected to a keyboard) the app will rotate to portrait orientation when switching to another app then back to Killer Sudoku. It’s a little inconvenient to pick up the tablet and force the app the re-orient itself to the desired orientation. It would be useful to have the ability to select different colors for notes. Maybe a long hold on the notes toggle would let you select from 2-3 different colors? That way the interface would still behave in a backwards compatible way for those who may not want to bother with different colors. Thanks!

Fun but battery killer. I can not figure out why but this game kills my battery. I have the paid version so it’s not adds. Other than that I love most things. I do wish that it wouldn’t allow you to change your number when you gotten it right. I have had times where I accidentally touch a number while it’s on a completed cell. Then it switches the number and counts it as a mistake. Notes turn off and on easily. There are options to change the look of it to help see blocks better. I do enjoy that. Wish the dark mode had a different color line for the 3x3 squares they all blend in too much making that mode difficult to use.

Huge Battery Drainer/Phone Freezer. I’m a huge fan of Killer Sudoku and have really enjoyed this app until the most recent update. For one, I don’t mind ads, but multiple ads in the middle of the game really ruins the flow. One before and after the puzzle is totally fine, and I don’t understand why it can’t be that way. But that’s not even the biggest concern. Ever since I updated this app it has been draining my battery significantly, causing slow downs, and even multiple times froze my phone to the point where I literally could not even restart it the normal way. I don’t know what they did to make this simple app so taxing for my device, but I’ll probably use another app until the next update, and hopefully the problem will be fixed. For now, I will be giving it 3 stars until the processor problem is solved.

LIAR!. I downloaded this app solely for the purpose of leaving this critique. I haven't spent one second playing this game and have no intention of doing so. So why am I here? To talk about this trend of lying with your advertising, why else? I’ve seen one ad and it’s claim was so ludicrous that I would slap a person for trying to insist it was true if they were standing in front of me. Since I can’t do that, I’m doing this. The claim made said if one could solve an uncomplicated version of one their puzzles, then your I.Q. was 180. I’m sure a lot of people just ignore this and other similar claims in other ads for game apps. I’m still in tears laughing right now. Albert frickin Einstein had an I.Q. of 160. If you can say something that stupid in text written over your own commercial, you’re the type of people who will say anything to get what they want. As an american (we’ve never been great) in 2021, I’ve had enough of this garbage. Be honest or get off my planet.

Ads are out of whack. I've really loved this game for a few years, I've played sudoku since I was a kid, so adding this level of difficulty is lots of fun. I enjoy finding puzzles that take me a long while to solve! The problem has become the ads. I know how app games work, I've never minded ads when necessary. It used to be about one skippable ad every other puzzle. Now I'm being stopped mid-game several times throughout. Yes, I can skip them, but it's super annoying when I'm on a roll solving tiles & I've noticed it'll delete the last couple tiles I've filled before the random mid-game ad starts. I really like this app's setup. I don't want to use a different killer sudoku app, but if this isn't fixed I might need to find a new daily game:(

Fun and sometimes tricky. I love this versions of Sudoku. When I get stuck I just look to the sum I’m looking to make and solve easily. I find myself having faster solve times. Often under 10 minutes for medium and hard difficulty levels and under 15 minutes for the extreme difficulty. The only thing I don’t like is if you accidentally enter 3 mistakes then you either have to watch a video to continue on or start all over. I have forgotten to remove the hold from the number I’m working on and have gone to enter the next number in and caused an error because the number was on lock. That’s the only frustrating thing I’ve come across.

Super annoying ads!. I LOVE this game but the ads have become increasingly frequent. They are now to the point where they destroy any enjoyment of the game. When I play “hard” or “expert” levels, the frequency of the ads is so bad I am literally waiting to skip an ad every single time I enter a number! This is unacceptable. Your advertisers need to realize that the high frequency of ads - to the point where they totally disturb the game - is a total turn OFF. There’s no way I’m ever going to download any game that’s shoved in my face every 15 seconds! Again - I love the game but it’s so fun anymore. Looking for an alternative. Let me know if you fix it.

Great for experienced players. I’ve been playing suduko since I was about 7 or 8 years old. Which has caused me to reach quite a plateau with the average suduko game. This game truly excited me when I found it. The expert levels will actually require some logic before you get good. Now I’m able to complete the expert levels almost always under 10 minutes so I wish there was a level above. However I’m deeply satisfied. The people who complain about the difficulty should stick to the easy and medium levels. The expert is just for the experts! Thank you for developing a fun, challenging and engaging game. I always look forward to my morning puzzle to wake me up!

Update added more ads. I was enjoying the app for awhile now but the latest update has added ads in the middle of game play. Takes you out of zone of solving and it’s jarring. I sometimes now get multiple ads while playing one board. I understand devs need to make money but to me this has gone too far. Would no longer recommend and if continues I’ll find another app. Some of the puzzle can be quite hard to solve which is part of the fun. I’ve had a handful that has had multiple solutions to them. When this happens the app still only sees one right way and it’s a guessing game which is the solution the app wants. This is rare as I’ve played a significant amount of games on the app. I believe this is a bug but one that I can deal with as the game gives you three mistakes even if a bit disappointing to lose the error free win streak.

Great game - unbearable ads. I have been playing this game for over a year and absolutely love the daily puzzles, but recently they have been adding more and more ads that detract from the enjoyability. Ads pop up during the middle of a game (sometimes multiple) where I am forced to watch videos of games I will never play. By the time I am able to skip the rest of the ad I have lost my momentum and have to rethink what I was doing. Their latest ad is a small pop up window just under the numbers so if you hit the wrong area by just a small fraction, you are pulled to another page and have to exit out to get back, once again losing momentum. I almost deleted the app once they added videos in the middle of my game. Still very tempted to do so, which is sad, because I love the game itself.

Major problem. Downloaded the latest update hoping that would fix the freeze up from some of the ads. It’s very aggravating to have to shut your iPad down and reboot it to take back control. I’ve been using the app for years and it starting this every 2 or 3 times I played about a month ago. Other than that I rated it a 4 star app. Would have rated it 5 stars if not for this problem. Down loaded the newest app that was updated just a few days ago and that seems to have fixed the problem. I’ve played a half dozen games with no problems. I was pleased that I got a response so quickly from the developer. Good job, thanks.

No true difficulty between medium and impossible. This is a really fun game, but there is no true difficulty between medium and next to impossible. What is labeled “hard” right off the bat gives you so many numbers already filled in, sums of two that are already half filled, or individual sum boxes that you get about half the answers without even having to think and then you can fill the rest of it in usually without having to use any notes. Then you get to “expert”, which has no numbers filled in, usually about one individual sum box and way too many sum boxes of 4 or 5. I have tried and tried and cannot pass these levels without using way too many hints. I would like to see harder “hard” levels at least, as they’re no more difficult than medium, and maybe slightly more possible “expert” levels.

Good Game, Bad Ads. Great game and as other reviewers mention, there is great variety to the generated grids. However the ads are terrible. There are some are unskippable or just won’t close and some that freeze the whole app. I’ve tried to purchase ad free but when I click “Remove Ads” in the settings, nothing happens. Shame. UPDATE: Developer responded to my review which I appreciate. However I’ve already been able to purchase the ad free version so that I no longer have to deal with the apps that freeze the app. It’s a shame that the ads taint the experience since it’s completely out of the control of the developers of this app, maybe they should use a different ad partner than Google.

😍😍😍😍😍. I play this game every day. I love logic puzzles. After I contracted a mutated form of COVID-19-pneumonia I had all kinds of “brain issues”. Problems with even remembering my family by name. I even got lost and couldn’t find my way home on more than one occasion - even near the block where I lived. My brain was affected as if I had a concussion. Healing is very slow. There is a word game and this game I play everyday. This game helps with my memory, reasoning, logic and basic math (which I still very much struggle with). This game is part of my therapy. I love that I could change the color of the boxes. Huge improvement. Without I couldn’t separate the “cell”. So thank you!

Great game, one suggestion.. I got this game recently, and it is so fun. In another review someone said that there should be something to prevent the game from immediately counting a wrong number as a mistake. I agree. To help with this problem, I think it should count it is a mistake when the player clicks a different cell. This mean that if the player misclicks, they have a chance to fix it. You could also have a setting where the game won’t correct mistakes at all. Thanks Update: I got a response that was obviously the default for a 5 star review. Please don’t respond unless an actual human read the review. There’s no point. Update 2: I got a second response, sent by an actual human. Thank you

All the daily puzzles are expert level.. Really liked this app when I first started playing. I work the daily puzzle and also work my way through the older ones. I liked that they range in the different levels, although now every one I get is set at the expert level, so that means having to watch a video to get hints so I can at least get to the part that would make it hard. Why does it do that. I know I can just start a new game at any level I want but I like playing the daily challenges. Would give 5 stars if this is fixed. Update: Thanks for the reply from the app developer explaining things. The daily puzzle today was not an expert. I will take your advice and see what happens.

Ads Are Out Of Control. I love sudoku and am very good at it, rarely requiring hints or needing extra moves. I used to love this app more than any other but the ads are so bad now, it’s almost unbearable to play. I can deal with an ad when needing an extra hint or when you have used up all of your moves, and lost the game. However, there is an ad before each game, in the middle of the game even when you have made zero mistakes, to get an extra hint, and when you have used up your moves. There is an ad in between games. There is also an ad when you win the game! I used to play this game every night to wind down for over an hour, and now I can barely make it through 2 games. I understand the need for developers to earn money, but all you are doing is causing loyal players to uninstall with 4-5 30 second ads during 1 game. Badgering and annoying players defeats your goal.

Ads are too intrusive. App interrupts other sound.. I love this version of Sudoku but I'm about ready to delete it. Many times during a game, the ads take over my sound. I listen to music or books while playing. Instead of returning the sound after the ad, it stays with the app. So after every ads or game end, I have to go back and find my audio app and restart it. Really disruptive. I am not complaining about the ads although they have increased. It's the sound behavior. After hearing from the developer that they are aware of the problem and hope to fix it some day, I hope they email to let me know because I'm deleting the app. To update this I realize I can get rid of ads by paying. I'm betting that the game still takes over the sound on my phone. But really, developers are making the ads and therefore the game more annoying. Why would anyone want to buy an annoying game?

Great Game But…... I’ve been playing this for quite some time now (coming up on a year I think) but noticed that as of late there appears to be a ‘bug’ at least in the Medium difficulty mode. It keeps telling me that I’ve achieved a ‘new’ personal best, even if it took several minutes longer than other games played in the Medium difficulty mode. When you go to look at the Medium Difficulty stats, you also see that there is no ‘best’ time ever achieved any longer, when there used to be accurate stats kept. Has anyone else reported this? Also, for several months now several times during play of a game it goes out to an ad, thereby breaking your concentration. Hard to get that momentum back when it keeps interrupting with ads.

Bring back selecting feature please!. Love this game! I was starting to find regular sudoku to be less of a challenge, so love the thrill of an empty board and working a different part of the brain to fill it up from scratch. However, my app recently updated, and I can no longer use the Notes feature in a quick and efficient way. It used to be that you could click Notes, select a number for your chosen box and scroll through all the consecutive numbers you wanted to include in that note (or remove, if they were already selected). In the new version, I have to select each number one by one, which is slowing me down/irritating, considering it wasn’t like that before. Please bring back this feature in the next update!

Game disappeared following a “second chance” ad. I am new to this game and have so far played only two daily puzzles. Today was my third, and it was a difficult puzzle that required some guesswork. I hadn’t figured out “notes” yet, and I also just tapped a couple of incorrect digits by mistake. A player is allowed three errors before the game must be restarted or the player must sit through a 30 second ad to get one more chance. I was loathe to restart the game I’d worked on so hard and had watched several ads to continue, so I requested a second chance. The ad ran its course, then my screen reverted to my home page. When I tapped the Killer Sudoku icon, the day’s puzzle appeared, but it had reset to the beginning. Needless to say, I was more than a little disappointed and angered. I understand that watching ads helps pay for the game if I want to play for free, but the developers should hold up their side of that bargain.

Too many ads. I played this app when it was first released and you would ONLY get an ad AFTER you complete an entire sudoku. I was ok with that but at some point, they updated this app where you can have up to 2-3 ads DURING the puzzle and it can be distracting and annoying when you’re in the middle of figuring out the puzzle. I used to play almost every day but now most of the time I don’t feel like opening this app because I know that I’ll get a couple ads during the puzzle. I hope this gets fixed to what it was previously where I only get an ad after completing a whole sudoku. Oh and if the response from the game developers is “you can pay to remove the ads” then I’ll just uninstall. You’re already making more money off of me from the ads I have to watch so it’s either “help me help you”, or bye bye.

Goodbye. I have wrapped up the year with a resolution to not play again. I have the same complaints as many other here. I have trophies for completing daily challenges going back more than 2 years. Long ago I had worked the experience up to where I had been getting expert puzzles. Now it’s only easy and medium, even after hanging in there with the new update. I am annoyed by the pop up emoji. I miss the potential combinations that used to appear just below the puzzle on the left. I understand that the ads pay for the game, but relative to other apps, they are too frequent. It used to be that the challenge of a difficult puzzle spaced out the ads and made them tolerable. But now when it is only easy ones completed in very little time, ad time can exceed play time. Not worth it. With the new year, I will be moving on.

So sick of ads. I used to love this app. It was reasonable to have short ads after some, but not all games. Now, the ads interrupt games. I’ll be in the middle of a move & it’ll go into a 30 second ad. Incredibly annoying!! Despite the developer’s response, most of the time, there is no option to skip ads. Again, a short ad AFTER a game is reasonable, but interrupting games for an ad is annoying & completely turns me off from playing. It looks like there have been many people complaining of the same thing since these mid-games were added & developers have been responding with the same generic response of.. oh sorry, we’ll fix it.. well, it’s been 5 or 6 months now & it hasn’t been fixed..only continues to get more bogged down with ad upon ad upon ad. Ufff

Decent game could use some tweaks. Controls can be frustrating: same set of numbers used to enter possibilities as actual guesses; toggle which you intend with another button. Defaults to actual guesses after you pause game, so you must be very diligent to avoid making “errors” caused by the toggle being in the opposite state from what you think. Numbers close together so you must also be precise to prevent tapping number next to number you intend. And worst of all, not all puzzles have unique solutions. Sometimes get near the end and can verify all remaining squares have two options. Either option for any one square will determine all of the others, but either option will lead to a solution only one of which the game has arbitrarily decided is “correct”.
