Best Sudoku app. Giving it 4 stars because the evil difficulty seems to be broken. I finally got comfortable with the expert level puzzles and I decided to test out the Evil difficulty. The only problem is the puzzles are extremely easy. I’m solving them in about 5 minutes and the only thing slowing me down is because I can barely type the numbers in that fast. There is zero thought process or advanced techniques needed. The puzzles are somewhere between hard and medium difficulty. One more thing. I’d love it if daily games and event games counted toward stats. I largely ignore all of the events because they don’t affect my stats. Is there a way to change that? I remember another issue. Once a cell has been determined, why is it even possible to go and change it to an incorrect square? I can’t even fathom the amount of puzzles I’ve solved that have been ruined because I accidentally misclick while entering the solution. Especially while competing for my fastest time. I know it’s my fault, but removing the option would be a great addition.

Great sudoku app, best I’ve tried. I spend so much time in this app, I find sudoku very soothing and the interface is smooth and great. (I’ve paid for it, because ads are not soothing and devs deserve money. And I appreciate something that doesn’t have microtransactions.) I absolutely love the “killer” sudoku in the new event, and I hope they’re introduced as a regular option to play, because I’ve just finished the event and I already miss them! My only real issue is that the 1 is so narrow and so close to the edge of the screen that it’s incredibly difficult for me to successfully hold it down to select it—a huge amount of the time I end up too far to the left and then when I try to correct I end up brushing 2 and it changes the number in whatever square I last entered and I rack up mistakes for no reason because I’m fighting with the interface. It would be nice to be able to rotate my phone sideways and have the numbers up the side of the puzzle instead.

Could Use Some Improvements. Sudoku is my absolute favorite game, it trains your mind and helps build brain activity, as well as helps focusing on other things (like a break). There are many sudoku games on the internet, and this one is by far my favorite. It has a lot of very customizable features, such as the background color and several other settings. I, however, have a few suggestions that I think could significantly improve the game. I’ll start by mentioning a few quality of life features. One problem I have is that my grandparents often play sudoku on my iPhone, and they have massive fingers so always make mistakes because they miscible on a tile for a number. I would recommend a zoom feature by I don’t know, dragging with two fingers or something. It would help out larger people, and also I tend to work on a single square within the three by three, so it might also help me focus a more. Another feature I might suggest would be the option to turn off the explanation for a hint. I know how to play sudoku, have since I was three or four years old. However, I sometimes just get stuck and need to use a hint. But the excessive explanation is too boring for me and I have to quickly click through it to continue playing, but I understand why the hint is right, so it just gets annoying. Anyways, I hope y’all devs read this and consider my suggestions. It would certainly bring my rating up to a five out of five stars! - Sathare

Disappointed. I love Sudoku; it is one of my favorites and I play it quite a bit from many sources so I thought I would give your app a try. I chose easy for first game to allow me to see how your app operated in terms of filling in the grids. I had a bit of trouble with the game placing numbers in the chosen square; they landed in a square adjacent to where I chose. Quickly the game ended saying I had made three mistakes and game was over. They were not mistakes I made by choosing the wrong square intentionally but rather by a square inadvertently being touched or my not knowing exactly how your game operated. I do not like the feature where the game ends if 3 mistakes are made; especially on the very first game when a player is still trying to understand how your app functions in terms of number placement. In fact, I like to work my sudoku puzzles to completion and if I make an occasional mistake, I like the challenge of finding and fixing it. I do not want the game to kick me out. As a result your app is gone. I have plenty of other sudoku games to play that are both challenging and fun and they do not aggravate me with unnecessary restrictions.

Statistics Lacking. I like the game just fine but your statistics leave something to be desired. The stats for different levels (easy, medium, hard, expert) don’t include daily games or event games. Event games and daily games come in all the various levels but are never added to the stats for those various levels. I play all the daily games and try to complete most of the events. As such I have completed hundreds of games at all levels but when I go to statistics, each level only has a handful of games represented. And the separate statistics for daily challenges is a combination of multiple levels. What is the value of the best time or average time stats when it is a combination of easy, medium, hard and expert? I saw another review where someone complained about this and you responded that you had to keep them separate and that you didn’t have any plans to change the statistics set up. Apparently, it’s not a worthwhile issue for you or is too hard to implement. With an attitude like that, I can’t give this game 5 stars.

Rewarded with more ads. I get the free games have ads and I understand that , but when I’m in the middle of a game and finish eliminating one number from the board , and get a reward of it breaking away to another ad even though I just watched one , is not only really annoying but greedy and unnecessary. I can’t get over that , the reward is another ad . It def makes it difficult to concentrate, when I get going and I get in a zone and start breaking it down , to have it cut in the middle of my game for every number eliminated smh there is a very basic process in getting a game to be addictive and that’s the reward mechanism in your brain . If every time you achieve something , you get interrupted, it’s like Pavlov’s dog, you are conditioning me to be repelled against achieving any numbers to completion . If it was just ads before each level I could deal with that but I cannot play a game with this many interruptions . Idk how this is so highly rated , maybe it didn’t used to be this way . Part of why I like sudoku is getting into a meditative state while solving . That’s just not achievable here, there are better options .

6-8 ad interruptions in one game is crazyyyy. I used to love this app so much. I played it non stop; however, I lost interest and deleted the app. After reinstalling the app a few months ago, I’ve noticed the ads becoming VERYYY intrusive. I don’t mind watching short ads in the beginning or the end of the game but to CONSISTENTLY make me watch 10 seconds of an ad, and MAKING the ad for said app pop slide up on my screen with the “download” button, is WAY too much. Especially when it’s constantly during the game after you eliminate all the numbers of a certain number. If it’s not every time I eliminate, then it’s every other time. So you’re looking at me being forced to watch ads, forced to close the App Store notification to download that app, then close the ad itself about 6-8 times during a single game. A SINGLE GAME THAT HAS SIX TO EIGHT ADS IM FORCED TO WATCH AT LEAST 5-10 SECONDS, THEN DELINE THE AP’S DOWNLOAD OPTION, AND THENNNN CLOSE OUT OF THE AD (carefully having to close out because lord forbid that I miss that tiny X in the corner and chance watching the again) IS JUST RIDICULOUS FOR ONE SINGLE GAME So goodbye Easy Brain, we had a great run, on and off for 4 years, but I can’t stand the constant interruptions mid game anymore.

I used to love this app. I play the daily as a way to quickly tickle my brain. But I really hate the latest update. I only get medium and hard puzzles now. If I want to play hard puzzles, I would go in and choose intentionally to do so. I hate that I now have no choice. It would be great if you guys would add a setting where we could choose the level of difficulty for the daily puzzles. I often only have a couple of minutes to play. And now I’m about to stop playing altogether because I don’t like to use the hint feature or just guess a bunch of times, but that’s what I’m having to resort to because I don’t have an hour to solve a hard puzzle, and I’m driven to get the gold coin on the stupid calendar to show I played each day 😂. I really do enjoy this app. I had never play sudoku in my life until this app. I like the features. I just don’t like that I never get a puzzle I can solve in 3-5 minutes anymore.

Keeps CRASHING since update!!!😡. Fantastic game, can’t stop playing!!! It’s my go to game! However since your latest update while in the middle of playing the game, it keeps crashing.. the screen goes completely black except for the advertisements at the bottom of the screen! I’ve tried closing the app and restarting the game but it happens again immediately after opening up the game. I’ve tried starting a new game and again the screen goes black all except for the advertisements at the bottom. Then I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it and guess what? It happens again! No other apps do this on my iPad so I know it’s not the problem, plus if it were my iPad then the advertisements would go black too and they don’t. Every single time the screen goes black it still shows the advertisements at the bottom and the rest of the screen is black! I pray you get this fixed ASAP! This is my favorite game to play on a daily basis and since I couldn’t play using this app anymore, I was forced to download another sudoku app in order to get my daily sudoku fix. I will however continue to check this app regularly to see if the problem has been resolved or not but in the meantime I’ll be using another sudoku app!

Great app. I like this app to do puzzles but would like if I could have friends and do time competitions against them or even a dual play like you both work on the same puzzle. However, we would be limited to 3 numbers or chances per turn before the next player has their turn. A dual or team game would either be an elimination challenge where each play is limited to 3 wrong number before they are eliminated. Or even a time challenge with friends where each player work on the same puzzle and the first person to fill the puzzle completely and accurately will be the winner kind of the a bingo game. However, each wrong answer will deduct points or even add more time so even they are the first to fill in the puzzle completely, accurately is also a factor instead of a person doing a quick trial and error. I would enjoy this app more if I didn’t have to do it alone.

events should have fewer levels. First off, I love this app. It has a simply beautiful interface and it’s easy to use. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a sudoku app. My favorite part of the app is completing the seasonal events. They’re fun and I like collecting the medals. However, recently the number of levels in an event has been increasing and I think that having to complete 100 levels in a week to receive a “gold” is excessive. It’s doable, but it’s majorly time consuming (especially when people have work, etc). For me, I don’t really like getting bronze/silver so if I get past the “bronze level”, I’ll play for hours on end until I complete the event to get gold. But at that point, the fun is taken out of the game - I’m just playing to complete levels and it’s not enjoyable anymore. If the events continue to have an insane amount of levels, i probably just won’t start them anymore. In my opinion, the events should be more around 20-30 levels (at least <50).

Complete UI change is too disruptive. I completely agree with the review left by tbett6922. I’ve been playing the ad-free version of this app for over a year, and I love that the hints teach you strategies to play the game better! However, the new UI showed up for me today, and it’s completely different than it used to be. It’s not as visually satisfying, especially in dark mode as tbett6922 said, and the developer added a bubble that pops up every time you tap a pre-filled square saying you can’t fill it in (obviously you can’t, that’s how sudoku works). Before today’s new UI, I would drag my finger over a whole row to fill in the notes, and then remove notes methodically to solve the puzzle. It’s a calming and satisfying way to play sudoku. Now that new bubble pops up over and over and over and over again when dragging to fill in the notes, with no way to turn it off. The meditative calm I used to gain from this game is harder to get because of this single change. I will be looking for a new sudoku app that doesn’t disrupt the flow of playing the game.

Fantastic Game, Pleasantly Surprised. I use this app a lot and it took about a year for me to decide to pay to remove adsbecause the was a bit pricey and I assumed I would still have to watch ads for a “second chance” feature and the “auto fill” feature (optional features that have you watch an ad in full to use) as in other apps I have. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I no longer have any ads ever. Well worth the price and I wish I had decided to do it sooner. I also love the events, badges, and trophy systems! I love the events and the artwork that appears on the event page, it would be cool if during the event there was a setting to have that art appear on the actual puzzle screen so we could enjoy it more since not much time is spent where we select the next event puzzle. It would also be cool if, along with the completion trophies/badges, we could then unlock that background to use in general. Just some thoughts, I like art and feel like a lot of effort goes into those event screens that may be under appreciated.

Last update is horrible!. Update: The weird game-in-game mode is gone and the original game is back!! Adjusted my ratings- Thank you! PS-I have no problems with ads like other reviewers; they’re easy to turn off in settings. Have been playing this game for a long time, and this really was my go-to relaxation, but the latest update is horrible! -The level selection at the start is annoying. -Then the forced ‘choose your daily bonus’; I don’t want any bonus!! I just want to play sudoku! -Then the 3 strikes and you have to watch an ad to continue is highly annoying and frustrating. I know I can turn off the mistake limit, but I can’t turn off this new ‘game mode’. These updates to the game are annoying and horrible and make me dislike a previously fun and relaxing game. -Also, suddenly the ads at the end of each game have become much, much longer. I’d think the developers should think about why people play Sudoku (a classic ‘brian game’!) before doing ad placement and updates in this way. Too bad you ruined a great game just so you could charge more for ads and ad-free play! Update: To the developers response; Did you read my review?! I said I know I can turn it off- but I can’t turn off the stupid game mode!! And I did send a message through the help section too, so this reply completely missed the boat.

Simple & Great-except cages. Although the ads are many, and annoying, the app is pretty nice. However, with start of new ‘adventure’, I’m seeing the ‘cage’ version for first time. It’s, quite simply, nightmarish. I play on dark mode because I get migraines a lot, and my eyes are already very sensitive to bright lights to begin with. Because of how busy the screen is, trying to figure out where the boundaries of the 9 3x3 areas are becomes an exercise of straining to see the dividers or constantly counting squares, etc. I nearly never make mistakes, but quickly made 2 of my allotted 3 on the FIRST adventure puzzle because I couldn’t see what I needed to see due to all the dotted lines everywhere confusing the situation and breaking up pattern recognition. If that is the object of cage (making it harder by disrupting visual abilities), I’ll just avoid it. But, my understanding is that it allows less numbers to be given at the start since it gives an additional way to arrive at answers. That’s not happening on the Dark setting, though. Please look into that.

You can make a one time payment to remove ads!. I have no idea how many Sudoku apps I’ve tried, but I’ve finally found this one; a Sudoku app that lets me make a one time payment to remove the ads after every round. There were so many other apps that I tried where they either wanted me to pay for a subscription, or didn’t have the option to remove ads at all. Alongside that fact, I also love the touch controls. I turned on some number lock option in the settings of the game. Now, I can lock in a number and swipe to fill multiple boxes with notes (or, mistakenly, numbers…) instead of having to tap every single cell. Of course, aside from the touch controls… Sudoku is sudoku. It plays the same no matter where you play it. You are able to turn off the app marking mistakes for you. I do like that it records my statistics and compares me to others playing Sudoku as well. All in all, it’s been wonderful playing Sudoku on this app. I recommend paying the $4.99 one time to remove ads.

It’s a great game. I love this app for many reasons. The app is soduku forward and no random other games like so many apps do. It’s clear easy to follow. Plenty to do each day. I never run out of game boards. I’ve learned when they play ads and I’m fine to suffer through them. Most of them you can skip halfway through. My only only only complaint is if my phone is on silent the ads are NOT. It’s infuriating. I want to play soduku in a waiting room? Not without an add blasting at maximum volume. Want to play late at night after my husband is zonked? Nope. Ads blasting. Infuriating. The primary culprit is a phase 10 ad and my gosh the iPhone version of that game is irritating anyway. Fix this please. **update, I was very easily able to send a screen shot of the worst noisy ad to the game. Hopefully they get it resolved. Being able to easily contact help is a big big perk.

Great game! One minor feature I would love to see.... I love this app! The events are awesome and the interface is super intuitive. Also, the smart hints that don’t just give you a number and actually show you the strategy are incredible!!! One minor nitpick has to do with the tap-and-hold a number feature that allows you to quickly enter it into multiple cells. I love that when in the default entry mode, you can select a cell with a number already in it and see all of those numbered notes in bold on the other cells. Currently, when you tap-and-hold a digit, the cells containing that digit show a grey background (which is awesome!), I just wish the notes were also bolded. I find myself deselecting the held digit, tapping a cell to see the notes bolded, making a mental note of where I need to enter the new notes, and quickly going back to the held digit to enter them all (and mistakes get made!) Thank you for the great app and actually responding to user reviews, it means a lot!

Was perfect, now barely playable. * I appreciate the devs responsiveness, upped the rating by a star. This was the perfect balance of everything before. Recently I updated and now anything I do results in advertisements. If I just pause the timer willingly, I can’t return to the game without an ad. Any time I finishing finding all of one number on a board I get an ad??? Completely ridiculous. Just too many examples of ads interrupting a game where I’m trying to get a good time on the board but interrupted over and over. Awful now. Looking for a new app. *Developer response: It is completely understandable that the app has ads, we all know that free apps need to run ads to sustain them. The problem isn’t just the fact that there’s ads, it’s the frequency and the timing of when the ads are interrupting the experience of the application. If during 1 game of sudoku (roughly 5-10 min on average I’m guessing) there are ads interrupting anytime a user needs to pause, completes a box, or completes all instances of a number on the board, it becomes a pretty sizable time of the gameplay and pretty much ruins any momentum for people playing the game, which as we all know is part of sudoku as exponentially things get quicker the more you figure out. It’s not really just about ads existing on the app.

Wonderful Game, but Beware of Ads Filling Your Storage. As I said, great Sudoku game, crisp and simple format, blessedly lacking the foo-foo weird variations of other apps. If you want pure sudoku without the other silliness, this is your app. But beware, as I have played and won about 900 expert level games, the app has grown like a sinister blob monster and has filled an insane 6.86 GB of storage on my iPhone, more than all my other apps combined! Tech support replies politely and speedily, but only action recommended is to delete and reload the app, losing all of your progress and trophies. You have to start all over. Explanation being it’s the ads filling and gumming up your OS. Heavy sigh... Only other criticism is I wish it had cell coloring ability so I could use advanced solving techniques taught by the brilliant Sudoku Swami. In any event, you’re going to love this app, if you’re a sudoku purist and use pure logic to solve puzzles. And if you get stuck, it does give you hints... but the price is ads! Storage-Stuffing ads!

Swiping for notes is back (mostly). Well, swiping has been reenabled, sort of. The first number touched displays feedback, but the rest of the numbers swiped over appear as dead. Poor UI, worse implementation, terrible QA. Okay, 3 stars instead of 1. They’ll have to impress me to get higher than that. This app used to have of the best overall interfaces for Sudoku. It used to have the best feature set as well. But the developer continues to lobotomize this app for whatever reason, without any announcement of changes. When you purchase an app and features start disappearing, you learn to distrust the developer. I’d select zero starts if I could to express my disappointment with this developer. Changes over the last few months: - the ability to swipe across the number pad to enter notes : GONE. While not needed in portrait mode, losing this feature in landscape mode is a total FAIL that should never have happened. - left-hand mode : GONE Another completely unnecessary FAIL. - hints to educate about X wings : GONE. - hints to educate about Y wings : GONE. - hints to educate about XY wings : GONE. - hints to educate about Swordfishes : GONE. - hints to educate about Bob’s Bingo : GONE. These have all apparently been replaced with a hint of “what cell would you like solved?” A cheap substitute for a unique feature set. All play levels feel like they’ve been dumbed down about a half a notch. Perhaps this is how the developer justifies dropping all that great functionality.

Not for fat fingers. While I actually have small hands, I’ve ended games somehow or put in a wrong entry somehow. I wish there were a couple of settings that would save me from myself. First, lock in a guess so that it can’t be overwritten by accident (i.e., require a confirmation or have a gesture that specifically unlocks a cell). Second, require confirmation that you want to end or restart a game. Third, allow a tentative placement of a number in a cell (I.e., allow the user to select a number but don’t do any of the other things like highlight where other cells are having the same number, marking the cell as wrong, etc.). This last one would prevent the accidental placement of a number due to an unintended swipe. The game is great in other respects, I have just run into all of these problems enough where having defeat drawn from the jaws of victory is getting tiring enough that I may end up deleting this app.

Decent, but the mistakes limit is awful. I like brain games and this app is a decent digital version of sudoku but there are some strange problems. Example being the "limit mistakes" setting which does nothing; you can restart the game, wait, restart the app, no matter what you'll get screwed over by the mistakes. Hit one wrong button and the game boots you, and by mistake I mean hitting the wrong button, because sometimes the notes are off and you're just trying to mark a possibility, nope, you're a dunce for not seeing the slight difference in colour. To be fair, this might just be me but the fact that I can't let myself make a few mistakes more than the crazy difficult tiny three limit is upsetting. The setting is there; why doesn't it work. This is a big drawback for me but besides that the app is just fine: good UI design, nice looking, it's easy to tell when you've done right and what you started with, generally pretty good. But that one problem that I presume to be a glitch or a miscommunication really takes a lot out of it.

Love it!. The game functions well. It features settings to change whether the game is timed, whether you want limits on how many you get incorrect, along with lots of other options. It’s very simplistic without flashy colors, and has three different color options for different times of the day (white, yellow, black) similar to functions on an internet browser, so your eyes don’t strain from white light etc. It doesn’t take up much of my battery usage, and works on airplane mode/without data, so it’s nice for a flight or a road trip. The single downside to this app is the ads before and/or after each puzzle is completed, and if you have a limit on how many you can get correct it plays an ad before you can continue, but again the limit can be turned off in the settings. Overall, this app is fantastic and I definitely recommend downloading it if you are a fan of sudoku.

If it’s not broken why try to fix it?. I loved this app but the sudden change to a new interface is really bugging me. There was no actual app update to indicate the change. There now is significant lag that is eating away at my times and making it so I have to touch numbers or blocks multiple times for it to register. The scoring has also noticeably changed and my new scores don’t even hit my previous averages. Less important but still worth discussing: Completing a block or a row is now less visually satisfying. In dark mode there still is a wave of blocks to indicate the completion, but it’s a wave of black instead of a wave of light, which makes it more difficult to see the effect and takes away some of the sparkle for me. I used to try leaving the center block blank for the satisfying ripple of total puzzle completion and now I’m not really as motivated to play seeing the kinda dismal wave of darkness. I do like the completed puzzle being displayed upon finishing, but i feel it is clunky to have to scroll just to see all the stats of the completed puzzle, when the original layout displayed everything in a completely fine way. (Edit: after seeing so many new comments about the ads getting worse I change my tune about paying for the app. It was worth it before but unless the update is reverted or fixed it seems like it’s downgraded either way)

Hints and Evil mode are problems. In previous versions of the app, whenever I was stuck on a difficult level I was able to use hints to see if I was missing something or if it was bowman’s bingo. Now, every time I use the hint, it prefills all empty cells with all possible answers without consideration for numbers that can be indirectly eliminated. This leads to populating many cells with completely unnecessary numbers that I have already eliminated and I usually have to erase everything and start over. This makes the hint feature essentially useless for higher level puzzles. The Evil game mode also could use some work. It seems like every puzzle follows the same pattern to solve and becomes overly repetitive and predictable. I had high hopes that it would provide a new challenge that would be even more difficult than the expert mode but have found the expert mode is usually more difficult and has more variety than the evil mode is.

Was it something I said? Hmmm let see. Love that the devs listen to the users about the app on what could be better, I changed my rating from 3 to 4 stars, bravo keep up the good work! Keeps me opening the app on a daily basis, that being said before the grand update, I had got my skill level to be able to handle hard levels and up! I’ve noticed the evil levels can be challenging now. But my daily challenges seem to be stuck on medium :(. I figured, after some thought, on a way to allow the us to choose our gameplay difficulty. I like the choice of choosing the difficulty when I select new game and that should never change. BUT for daily challenges and events I think that through the settings menu we could set a custom difficulty threshold like for someone still learning they can set the maximum difficulty to hard or medium and what would be a suitable option for more advanced players would be to set a minimum threshold of hard. It would work similar to high pass and low pass filters on an EQ (for those who work on the creation of audio/music would truly understand this )

Pretty Much Ideal. If you’re a fairly serious and/or conservative Sudoku athlete (commonly referred to, and pronounced as “Sudoke-letes”)(yes, I literally made that up) then you’ll love this App... It’s got a lot of different difficulty options, a timer, hints if you need them, as well as tips for strategy here and there. You can make notations, and it keeps track of your best times for each difficulty level. There isn’t much in the way of sound, just enough to contribute to the in-game actions without disrupting your gameplay, however, as I write this I can’t remember if I changed my sound settings to be as minimal as possible, either way you won’t be bothered by sound. The only MINOR drawback is how sensitive the numbers are as you tap them, so you learn quickly to be very deliberate with your moves. Oh yeah, and it keeps track of your mistakes during your gameplay and let’s you know if you’ve made one, but be careful, three strikes and you’re out!!!! Occasionally they put out these challenges that you can participate in to earn trophies, these trophies remain stored in your trophy case. The challenges are usually along the lines of completing a certain number of puzzles that vary in difficulty, it adds a little bit more game to the game. Basically, like I said at the beginning, this is a well designed app for we Sudoke-letes, you won’t be disappointed.

Ad raging / horrible hints. I am in no need of a sudoku game. I do enjoy it, but I do not enjoy 15-30 second ad pop ups interrupting my experience. It was actually taking away from my time to do other things so in a way, I thank you for helping me remove this app from my phone. Also what’s up with the hints? I was playing on expert and trying to get the hang of little to no details, I narrowed down the 3rd row from the top running horizontal. 4/7 in left box, 3/6, 3/6 in middle section, 4/7 in right box as well as other areas. I hit the hint and it wanted to say I didn’t have enough info in the inner boxes and added back the 4/7 in the middle. If I could show a pic I would. The horrible hint wanted to further confuse what I had simplified. How is someone to be more “advanced” if the hints are the opposite of useful? I later solved the puzzle with no thanks to the hints and also proved that only 3/6 would fit in those middle boxes. This wasn’t the first time I noticed this garbage hint. Though there were some moments when it would help me see where I messed up and how I should have reasonably seen a number I missed. So if the “hint” wants to add numbers to the uncertain boxes, you’d better screenshot it and double check. It sent me backwards on my progress

Great Sudoku game, but needs better note numbers. I really like this game, that you can play sudoku as many times as you want in one day, and the combos of different levels in the daily puzzles, but I had to deduct a star, because you have to click the “notes” button to change the numbers to just “notes”. I have accidentally missed clicking it so many times and in turn, lost a point for entering the wrong number in a square, where I would have had a perfect score otherwise. In other apps, the sudoku games have a separate row of numbers (in smaller print) for the notes. This makes it quicker to make notes, as well as less likely to enter an incorrect number accidentally when you are not actually trying to enter a final number in a square. Hopefully that makes sense. For Developers- Check out Puzzle Page app’s Sudoku puzzles to see what I am referencing. Also, it has Killer and standard Sudoku, as well as Futoshiki (another similar game to Sudoku) in the same app. That would be awesome if you could put all three types of Sudoku in one app!

Best features but latest version is broke. Update after developer response: so a working feature that I use was deliberately broken because no one else uses it, so get with the program. Even tho there are multiple reviews complaining about it. OK. Dropping a star and continuing my quest for a replacement. Original review: This version of Sudoku is worth paying the $5 no-ad fee in my opinion - it has the best features and is the easiest layout on the eyes that I have found. However, the latest version (5.1.1) is broken in at least one way - the hints no longer work consistently. Hidden pairs are not seen and asking for a hint after clearing notes once a hidden pair is found results in the game forcing you to add back in the notes you cleared. Asking for a hint at that point gets you a “pick a cell to solve” response, which just puts the correct number in the cell you choose without explaining why it is correct. And maybe it’s just me, but I’m seeing others saying the same thing here in reviews - the new “evil” difficulty level seems to be easier than “expert” on previous versions, as I am solving them much faster than before. I will update this review if things get better, but I’m looking around for another version in the meantime…

I’m trying to learn sudoku. I have never played sudoku before and I decided to try to learn it. I got this app and chose easy mode. i read the rules and started playing. It was discouraging to see that it only let me make 3 mistakes 😔. you should make some sort of free play/practice board where people don’t get a limited number of mistakes (but they don’t get stars/points for playing). it would be helpful for beginners like me who don’t really care about stars/points at first they just want to learn how to play. also, the ads and their placement is really annoying. the banner-style ads that are at the bottom while you play are in the way. if i try to click a number and i press too low, i click an ad! i know you have to put ads to get money but please put the banner style ones at the top of the playing board where people will see them but not click them on accident. also, the video ads are really long and there are LOTS of them. i really don’t want to pay FIVE DOLLARS to get rid of them. other than those complaints i have, the app is very nice and neat. i like being able to change the board color for free. the erasing sound is very nice. i haven’t tried any challenges yet because i am on my first puzzle, but they sound interesting. the hints are terrific! it suggests where to put a number and explains why it put it there. i’m glad i decided to learn how to play sudoku! 😀

From a Sudoku Amateur / Enthusiast. So I’ve been paying this game for awhile now, and after completing all the daily challenges possible (as of right now, 678), I think its a relatively good time to finally make a review. I just want to saw that the minimalism feel of this game is just personally very good. Compared to other sudoku apps, I think this app nailed the note taking aspect especially, note taking is usually infuriating for me, but this app in my opinion is very easy to make quick, easy, and simple notes. The reason I gave it 4/5 stars was: 1. Not enough sudoku diversity (i.e. more killer sudoku or maybe sudoku w/ chess twist, etc.) 2. The diversity this app does have is just the same easy-medium sudokus in the events and daily challenges, not really unique at all, I could just go to the regular easy / medium sudokus What I do want to suggest: 1. New optional themes, provide choices for something other than minimalism or maybe different fonts) 2. More note-taking styles (i.e. highlighting could be added) 3. More creative sudokus To clarify, I really like the minimalist look, and I don’t want the app to sacrifice its minimalistic look for a more crowded sudoku even if it meant more note-taking styles and etc., but if you can provide more choices, then please add more themes, note-taking styles, and etc. At the very least, please provide more diverse sudokus, your sudoku generator-bot is already nailing the difficulty pretty dang well already :P

Sudoku Adventure. Hello, I would like to start by saying this is probably my favourite game on my phone, and I play it all the time. I can hardly put it down! I would even say it's deserving of five stars, but there is one tiny little thing that irks me. You see, I love the little events most of all, and sudoku adventure used to be just regular Sudoku. Now, every Sudoku adventure is just an advertisement for killer sudoku, and kudos t you, you made two successful games, but as someone who doesn't enjoy killer sudoku, I find it unfair that for three days after an event I can't play my sudoku because it's suddenly killer sudoku. Instead, I have to do the levels, which are not nearly as fun as the events. I would understand if I was playing the app killer sudoku, but l'm not, so why is killer sudoku in my non killer sudoku app? There's already advertisements for your game, which again, advertising is good I don't mind, but I don't enjoy an entire event catered to a game I'm not even playing. Thank you for your time.

Ad placement lousy. First, with a couple exceptions I really like the app. It has great features. For the challenge I like to play it with no extra tools or hints that I’ve made a wrong entry. At times I get to the end and there’s a problem I can’t undo easily so I just want to start over. I can’t see how to do that without “un-doing” every move, or selecting each square and hitting erase. Please add a button to clear the puzzle to start over. My second concern is irritating enough to delete the app and find another game. On my IPhone 6s it’s the tight placement of the ad banner next to the number entry at the bottom of the screen. If I play with two hands inevitably I miss the number and hit the ad banner which takes me to another page. I understand the need for ads with a free game. But, that placement is so close that I mistakenly hit the ad many many times during a puzzle and I lose my place or thought process. It is maddening. I don’t even look at the ad, I get frustrated and immediately hit the button to return to sudoku. I’m glad you get the clicks for the advertising revenue but it feels like a setup with the layout so you get those clicks. Please fix these. It would be a 5 Star review otherwise!

Bad Changes. I knew something felt wrong with the last update. I know the design has been overhauled but there are some things I’m really upset about. The notes/hints being changed telling me that I have missing notes when I’ve intentionally removed numbers. I’m really upset about this because I’ve gained so much of my knowledge and tricks from this app. How will new players understand hidden doubles/bowman’s bingo, y-wings, etc if the “hints” are just filling in random squares. That’s not hinting, it’s solving. Also, I really loved going back and playing previous monthly challenges. You used to be able to hit the trophy button and click on the month you want to complete. Now you have to go to daily challenges, and swipe backwards to try and get to the month you’re completing. Super frustrating. It seems that the update also reset my average scores and winning streaks. And the timed challenges I love so much are 50% easy/medium when they used to be mostly hard/difficult. I hope some positive changes come soon, because I spend way too much time on this app, but I can feel it dwindling.

Love Sudoku. I’ll preface this by saying I love the app, very seldom do I run into any bugs or glitches, I enjoy the daily challenges and stats that are kept, and it's an app that I use pretty much every day. It's well maintained and could use some more interesting mechanics but I trust in the developers to make the app better as time goes by. The one issue I have with it is the introduction of ads in the middle of a game. when I get on a roll and start filling in cells it never fails that an ad will just pop up and ruin the momentum and fun. at that point I just close the app and play later in a few hours because I refuse to sit through an ad in the middle of my puzzle. I get that in this era there has to be constant monetization but surely the puzzle itself, from start to finish, should be off limits. I’m fine watching an ad in between games but I won't tolerate it in the middle of a game. that needs to be rectified and I’ll bet every user agrees on that point. I look forward to seeing the advances made on this app but I don't see myself sticking around with it if the avaricious nature of the new ad campaign is going to continue unabated. Keep up the good work and lose the mid-game ads.

Too many ads. First of all I would like to say, I have had this game for quite a long time, longer than I keep most apps on my phone. I enjoy the daily challenges, event puzzles, and the free play option. My biggest concern is the number of ads that I am having to watch in order to complete one challenge. They are now before, in the middle of, and after every challenge I attempt/complete. After reading other reviews I see that you promised another user that the mid-challenge ads would be removed, OVER A YEAR AGO. I understand that there is an option to buy the ad free version for $5; however, I play this as a way to wind down and it’s not something I play very diligently. I can not justify spending $5 just to remove ads for a game that I might open once or twice a week. I do also understand that ads are how you make your revenue on a free to play game, but it is getting excessive at this point. My fiancé recommended a sudoku app in the Apple Arcade, and I have been hesitant to switch because I have had this one for so long, but I am honestly very tempted to make the change now.

Bad timing for commercials. I recently got into Sudoku again quite a few years ago I dappled in it now I have seven apps for different makers of the sudoku game. I’m gonna narrow it down to two or three that I like the most and I’m playing them back to back playing a couple games in each one until I figure out what I do and don’t like so originally I like this one the most because it was the first one I downloaded in this recent journey of getting back into it but what I’ve came to realize is it gives the ads at all the wrong times you’re just getting on a roll and it congratulates you if you finish a number or a cell or a block whatever and how it congratulates you by giving you an ad it’ll be like a cute little emoji congratulations way to go you’re doing great and then Bam you gonna add I understand these apps to be free have to have ads but it’s just all bad timing. Maybe if you mess up or something give you an ad give you an ad when you finish the game or when you start a new game something like that, I’ll try and keep track of what the other ones do but I’ve played the other ones all a few times and I was not annoyed with the ad so this must have the most ones out of the seven that I have and it’s super annoying because you just get on a roll, you got numbers in your head what you’re gonna play next and then you gotta wait for an ad and you lose it all in your mindso if it wasn’t for that, I would probably give it a five star

Fun game, but lots of ads. I love sudoku and have since I was younger. I downloaded this app a couple years ago. When I first downloaded it, the ads weren't too bad. They only came at the end of a game, which is reasonable for any free download. Now I get at least 2 during a single game and it's really annoying. It's annoying to the point where I will go weeks/months without playing on this app, only due to not wanting to deal with all the ads that interfere with my game. It gets so obnoxious that I will quit playing in the middle of a game, when an ad pops up, just so I don't have to waste my time watching it. The other thing that bugs me is that when I win a game, it will say that the time I finished at was my fastest time (for that particular level) when I know for a fact I've gotten faster times at said level. I don't really play to keep track of my times, so it's not too big a deal. I mostly just wish it only did that when it really was my fastest time, instead of seeming to circle through "achievements". I don't need a participation trophy 😂 Other than that I love that I can customize my settings. I love that there's no wasted paper. I love that I can turn off the setting that tells me if I got something wrong, but can turn it back on if I'm stumped about where I made a mistake. I love that I can challenge my brain on my phone instead of always mind-numbingly scrolling social media. Get rid of all the ads during games and I'd probably play more.

Obnoxious and deceitful ads. Play on the web instead.. The game is interrupted every time you finish a number, box, or line and after the ad your flow is gone cause you’ve lost track. Some of the ads don’t play out like commercials but instead present a screen that’s designed to trick you into thinking it’s interactive so you’ll click it and be kicked out of the game completely. On top of that there’s always an ad bar at the bottom that never stops moving and it’s hard to ignore. The ad that made me delete the app was a banner with a fake, bright, strobing message notification. On top of being the most distracting and annoying ad I’ve seen in my life, it’s also terrible cause those kinds of ads are deceitful and are how people get viruses. It’s a shame cause the app is built well otherwise and I would have put up with the ads if they didn’t feel like a punishment and weren’t designed to manipulate people by lying to them. I’m not falling for it but there are plenty of people who will and in the future it will lead to them having their identities stolen. Shame on you for allowing those kinds of ads.

Terrible UI. So many UI frustrations! I’d turn on notes, make some and then turn it off so I could mark a different square with a number - and all my notes would be marked as wrong answers! No, no, no, they’re still just notes! I also had to be very careful to start my game by clicking on an existing number. If I clicked on an empty square the game would fill it with a number - when I didn’t mean to fill it with anything yet - and more than likely it would be wrong. And once I made a wrong guess on the last instance of a number. The game hides the number in the navigation row at the bottom when you’ve finished marking every instance of that number, and that’s exactly what it did even though my last guess was marked wrong. Absolutely no way to fix it! I gave up after two games that end early simply because I clicked in the wrong way. Deleted app but would be willing to try it again (and re-rate) if these problems were fixed. Confirmation asks or toggles would be nice and greying out the nav numbers instead of disappearing them would be helpful. Ignore notes as guesses in any mode.

the latest update made the game worse.. I have been playing sudoku on this app for a long time, so long that i’ve completed every single daily challenge available. I loved the mechanics of the app and the simplicity. I really didn’t mind the ads either. The latest batch of updates not only added ads in the middle of the levels, which wrecks the flow of the game, but they also removed the most novel part of the game, which was the hint button. It used to SHOW you, step by step, how to improve your gameplay and give you a helping hand. It would allow you to see where you need to go next to solve the puzzle. Now, all it does is fill in a random box without even showing you where it filled in. If you blink you’ll miss it, and it seems to have no rhyme or reason to it. ik these are all trivial, but I loved the aspects of the game before the updates, and now it feels a lot less like it was made by someone who actually plays the game and wants others to enjoy it, but by a company who wants to run as many ads as possible to make money. Just bring back the helpful hints feature at LEAST.

Love the game, wish there was a little something more. Longtime puzzler! I’ve been using this specific app for quite some time! I haven’t found one that’s comparable to it, however I wish there were either more than one puzzle for the daily challenge or more events. I love doing the events and I’ve only missed one since the start of the new year! Even if they were just weekly events instead of specific holidays I would love that. There’s something really charming about reaching the end of the event and getting the medals. Opening the app and clicking new game every time and then selecting the difficulty doesn’t have the same charm as working up from easy to hard as in the events. It’s a lot harder for me to keep track of how many puzzles I did in a day but starting new games and such. Overall I really like the app and the design and layout. It’s easy to customize it a bit so you can make it more or less of a challenge, but I wish there was a bit more to the events.

Advertisement Overload. I’m a big fan of sudoku puzzles and this app has loads of them. There’s different difficulty levels to play which is fun for a good challenge, although you do have to play a certain amount of puzzles at each level to unlock the harder ones. I’ve never had a repeated puzzle (to my knowledge, that is) and the daily challenges always get me thinking. However, I’ve never seen more relentless advertising than through this app. Whether you’re starting a puzzle, in the middle of completing one, or just finishing a puzzle, there’s ALWAYS an ad. No exaggeration, without fail, every. single. time. I’ll see an average of five ads per one puzzle I complete. It’s entirely ridiculous. An emoji pops up and says “Keep going!” when you hit a milestone directly before it cuts to an ad and the irony is almost laughable. It’s gotten to the point where I can only tolerate this app on airplane mode. The NYT & Washing Post offer the same content ad-free on their websites and apps, so if you’re looking for a relaxing game I would recommend those apps over this one 100% of the time. Quite sad how a quick dollar is valued over experience these days. Do better please.

My go-to sudoku app, I just wish they got rid of Bowman’s Bingo hints. I got this app a few months ago, having never played before. After playing for countless hours, I’m up to doing the expert puzzles. Much of my strategies have been from methods from the hints. However, sometimes the hint is to use “Bowman’s Bingo” which is basically guess and check, and it’s extremely impractical and rarely used. It gets kind of annoying when I get stuck and get this hint as it makes me feel like some puzzles are impossible without using this method. I’ve asked a few sudoku experts about some of these puzzles and they all have been able to find a much easier technique to solve them (even as simple as a skyscraper). I hope in future updates the app will incorporate more techniques into the hint system and eventually be able to get rid of Bowman’s bingo. Edit: I don’t know when they added this, but there’s now horrendously offbeat music. It’s horrid to listen to and I can’t even focus on the puzzle. Please fix this ASAP!!! And I’ll put my rating back up to 4 stars when you do

App is excellent except the hint mechanism. I’ve been using this app for at least two years (hey, I want that trophy at the end of the month/year!) and it has been appealingly consistent with updates and the ad placement doesn’t bother me in the slightest, mostly because it’s unobtrusive and doesn’t get in the way. Edit 1: Still a great app and I do at least the daily challenge every day, if not more. That being said, with this most recent update (today is 20 May 2021), the style and buttons all changed. Normally this is fine, but in dark mode (which i have to use for my eyes ) where the background is dark grey and the numbers are white and pale blue, this most recent update means that the pencilled in numbers grey out to invisibility instead of highlighting brightly like they used to. Before, when I’d choose a number for final input (where it would go blue and easy to see), every other identical number on the entire board would be bright white. Now, it greys out and it’s impossible to see where matching numbers are across the board.

Too many ads. Let me preface this by saying that I understand why a developer needs to put in ads for a free version of their app. You need to incorporate them somehow in order to generate some kind of revenue. But the sheer number of ads and their placement is just overboard. You Play an ad before you start every game. Play an ad after you finish every game. There’s banner ads at the bottom right by the numbers that you tap. There’s even ads that take up the whole screen in the middle of a game which is extremely distracting. The ads also have forward and skip buttons but pressing them only starts up a new ad for the same game. Hitting the “X” button doesn’t do anything, except for just playing a new version of the same ad… Sudoku is a game that requires concentration and the constant ads are very distracting. And yes, I know I could buy the ad free version but five dollars is just way too much for a little puzzle game. The mobile version of GTA five costs five dollars and it’s a far more complex mobile game than sudoku. Either reduce the price or reduce the number of ads. Uninstalled.

Controls are a bit touchy. I’ve been using this app for about a month, and overall I’m pleased. However, it is FAR too easy to accidentally input the wrong number. Without fail, the only reason I ever get booted for 3 mistakes (which I have turned off in normal mode) is because I’m trying to put a note, not actually input an answer. I prefer to choose my number and tap to fill cells so I can put notes quickly, but I’m often getting a mistake immediately because a game starts with the top left cell selected, and when I try to long push a number to make notes, it will instead input it in that cell. Some more options to the input settings would resolve this problem. I really enjoy the game, but it’s incredibly frustrating when you have 0 mistakes halfway through an adventure puzzle, and then you end up kicked because you thought you were putting notes down.

Love the game and the app. I’ve been playing sudoku for a while on the website, and I decided that I should get the app for a more immersed experience and so far I’ve been enjoying it a lot. It’s smoother and more stream-lined and overall a better experience than the website. My one complaint is that as someone who has past experience playing sudoku and was playing higher level difficulties is that you need to start out on the lower levels to unlock hard levels. I wish that you would be free to choose your difficulty so that experienced players just getting the app wouldn’t have to play easy levels just so they can play ones more their difficulty. It makes it slow and boring at the start until you can get to harder levels. Overall a good app and great for beginners, just one little complaint over having to unlock hard levels.

Great app - found an issue. I have found an issue with the last two (14th & 15th Feb) daily challenges that can’t be solved as the same number is required in the same row. Todays (15th) bottom right middle row third number is 3 however there is also a 3 in the same spot in the box above. Hope this makes sense I have screen shots if that is easier.

Great way to pass time. I take public transport every morning and when I recently downloaded this, my commutes changed. They became much more enjoyable and I felt as though I was doing something productive with the time that would otherwise have been wasted on pointless scrolling through social media or surfing the web. 10/10 would recommend to anyone with half a brain.

Great fun Free version spoiled by @#E$ Advertisements. Thanks this is a great game. With wonderful interface. How can we get rid of these darned ads? Cannot believe that the app interrupts the game - middle of the game! - to show 30 seconds of advert! The more I play the more ads I see. Not happy, will leave soon, Yes I understand that you need to make a living…. How about a paid advert free version UPDATE: Thanks I’ve found the paid option and have paid to remove ads, all goo now

Great app!. Loving this app and the different difficulties available, well designed and well delivered. I did think there were quite a lot of ads but they’re nice and short so I just put up with it, until I switched to dark mode to play in bed but was so bothered by the bright ad along the bottom bar, I clicked remove ads expecting to see “sign up for a free* 7 day trial followed by a subscription.” I was so delighted to see it was a one off, affordable payment! (I’ve found this to be rare nowadays!) Very happy to pay for such a great app - thank you guys for keeping it simple!!

Challenge friends with Daily game.. I love this game. A few of us in our family have it and are competitive, comparing best times for the different levels. We would love the ability to all attempt the same game at the same time. Would it be possible to number the games and have an ability to choose to play a particular number? Or for the “daily” sudoku game to be the same on everyone’s phone so we would be able to see who gets the best time each day?

Best sudoku app one little annoyance. So this is the best sudoku app I’ve found I love the monthly trophies and the events that you put out my only annoyance which is very small is when I’m doing the monthly puzzles for some reason the game starts at the end of the monthly and continues backwards. I know I can just select the start or the month but I then have to select the days in order everyone because it automatically goes back to the end of month once you finish a puzzle. That’s it tho other then that, which is probably just my OCD, is the best sudoku app 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 🇦🇺

Too much pop-ups. Had to delete because the ad popping up got INTENSELY annoying. Like sudoku is meant to be a calming and thoughtful game, and getting interrupted by pop-ups just ruined it. By the 4th expert puzzle I attempted, I couldn’t even complete it because I was too frustrated with the pop-up. Like this isn’t supposed to be some cheap kids money making ad generating app. Like you could get away with ads in between puzzles. But during the puzzle no way. Sorry had to delete. I remember having this app on an old iPhone a year ago and not having this problem. But now I’ve come to realise that you can’t download any apps anymore because it’s just ads.

Way too many ads. I love this game and have had it for many years and I’ve completed well over 22,000 games in medium difficulty but the ads have now gotten completely out of control. Ads used to be played between completed games but for the last month or so the amount of ads have dramatically gotten worse. It went from a 30 second ad between games, then a ad was played every time you completed a line and/or a number and now I’m getting all of the above and ads every 45-60 seconds. Often 2 ads will play at the same time. This has now made the game completely unusable. Really disappointed I’ve lost my favourite game until this gets fixed.

Slight change wanted.. I think it would better if there was a delay in a number being “permanent”. Eg. If I insert a number, it goes green for two seconds before becoming a permanent blue. I’m this short period a player has the chance to delete the number if it was entered wrong in haste. After 2-3 seconds it becomes permanent and then is either correct or wrong. The game continues as normal. Too many mistakes are made due to fat fingers rather than stupidity The delay will give a player a chance to quickly delete as soon as they see they have tapped the wrong key.

Good game- too many ads. Game itself is good. Challenging and can be addictive. I understand the need for ads, however multiple ads per game, some 5 seconds, some 30 seconds, many with multiple close x’s! And now, two lots of ads which hover over the numbers whilst playing and the x’s are too small to cancel out! Taking it a bit far. FYI- that stupid Royal game I’ll ever download due to the extensive advertising

If you can, skip the recent update. Update: adding stars for reply - appreciate it. App was great, but now way too many super long ads. Also the ad placement is weird - seems to be after certain wins so if I clear out a number I get an emoji animation and then an ad - makes me hate the animation because it becomes a warning and I’m tempted to try to not close out numbers till the end to see if that helps. Also all bold font is not a good look or accessible for visually impaired people.

Good app - a suggestion. I have been playing for well over a year and always look forward to doing my daily sudoku each morning. However, I have been avoiding the update because I saw it on another phone but it updated anyway. I do not like how it looks and it makes me want to stop doing the sudokus. The emojis that pop up with a ‘good job’ are annoying and the sounds have been changed. I have found that it is also a lot slower than the last version. Please change it back.

Some issues. This is a great app and I pretty like it. However, not sure if it ever happened to anyone, sometimes when I spent up to an hour trying to solve a game, then I got 3 mistakes and there was an ad appearing. But the screen was just total black and nothing was loaded. I tried to wait for quite long but nothing was changed so I had to close the app and reopen it. But then the game that I was playing earlier was completely cleared and I had to play a new one. It happened to me not just one time, and honestly it’s really annoying to me. Don’t know if you guys can fix it, if yes, that would be perfect. Anyways thank you for developing an amazing app.

Brain teaser😚🤪. Ok so this app is great. If you are reading this and you are unsure to use your mgs on this app my advice is YES. This sudoku app is fun, officiant and great for math building. Sudoku is great for making quick descisions and making the right ones. I would denifitely recommend this to someone who is lacking in the basic facts areas and someone who just wants to keep their brain up to date from day to day. Sudoku is free and fun and a great way to warm your brain up. So if you are decided to press that ‘get’ button then I say press that get button😇😂!!!!!! KR, me..🤞😎

Fun and addictive but some minor features would be great. Good app with a good game engine and hint feedback. Just a couple of things would be so great for those expert puzzlers: - a confirm dialog of you click “hint” - it’s frustrating to accidentally touch that when I don’t want a hint recoded against the stats/history (or maybe a cancel option if it’s entered into) - a way to show that a cell has locked-in pencil mark options - for example, when I know a cell can only be 2 or 3, would be great to hold down on that cell and set it to a different colour or centralise the 2 and 3 “pencil mark digits” so I know that cell is “solved” at a glance. The click and hold zoom doesn’t really add much value to the UI I feel. Thanks!!

Brilliant. Wow. Easy to learn. It has so many levels of difficulty and you can set different ways for how you want to learn to play. Nice play area display, with simple colours and good size cells, which is great if you have poor vision. Timer can be removed especially good if you get distracted or need to leave the game at short notice and reduces stress if you can’t press the keys fast enough. I can’t stop playing this game. I have downloaded other versions which had too many colours, time limits, and numbers flying or spinning all over the game board and other options I did not want. It is worth it to pay to remove the ads. Thanks for producing a great version.👍😊

Too easy. Most of the puzzles are too easy even in the ‘extreme’ mode. The monthly challenges/events start off with 10 or so easy puzzles which just take up all my time trying to reach the more difficult puzzles. I do like the ability to add pencilled numbers in multiple squares, and 3 errors limit for additional challenge. The hints don’t feel like hints as they only add a number and I have no idea how it got that number, or whether that was the next step or just a random number I hadn’t figured out yet. Would also be good to have a catalogue of the puzzles to pick a particular one to do. And maybe extra types of sudokus like thermo sudokus or killer sudoku.

Deleted. Just deleted my other sudoku game because they doubled the ads, your app has even more, and I can’t even play at a decent difficulty with having to sit through the beginner levels. Perhaps the ads would be less annoying if they didn’t expect me to interact with them. That’s not your fault, but having to sit through two ads between games and multiple ads during the game is just too much. I’d probably have paid to unlock a ad-free version, but there didn’t seem to be an option. So I’m off to find another game.

Best Sudoku app I’ve used. I really like this app, the daily challenges are great and so are the events. Makes it more than just a simple sudoku app. The usability is mostly good, with a couple of annoyances: 1. The pressing area on the function buttons (undo, erase, notes, hint) are too small. The amount of times I think I’ve pressed the Notes button to switch input but it didn’t change and then it registers a mistake (for events) is ridiculous. I don’t know what’s going on there. 2. As per another person’s comment, “Bowman’s Bingo” is really just a 50/50 guess, not a strategy or technique, so those puzzles are irritating. And I don’t like to use hints, but when I get to that point when I think it’s a 50/50 guess, I’ll do it just to check. What could improve the hint functionality and the Bowman Bingo issue, is if it could be a 2-step hint: step one, tell me what type of move I’m missing (eg. Bowman’s Bingo, Swordfish etc), then I can cancel or continue; if I continue, it does what it does today and explains the next step and completes it, otherwise the player can look for the move themselves. If these things were resolved I’d give this 5⭐️

Excellent App. This app is great as it lets you play sudoku through six levels ( easy, medium, hard, expert, master & extreme ) it also lets you change the light mode from light mode to a pinkish-orangish colour and a dark mode. It also has fun events where you try to get to the end in order to earn a medal. It also has hints and notes in the gameplay which makes it easier to play . One downside , it has adds but overall 5 out of 5 . This company also has another sudoku app called “ killer sudoku “.

Good game but frequent stalemates at Hard level. Enjoyed this enough to buy it so no more adverts however finding the hard level quite frustrating as I frequently reach a point where there is no solution. I hit hint and it tells me it’s found a ‘last remaining cell’ however the app is incorrect there is more than one call the number could go in. Other times I select hint and it just says ‘pick a free cell’ so even the app can’t find a solution. Would be good if this could be designed out but otherwise game is good. No issues at medium or below levels but medium is quite easy then hard much more difficult,

Great app - with one suggestion for improvement. This is a great app - thank you! I play it almost daily, and it’s fun, challenging and thoroughly enjoyable. The only suggestion I’d like to make is to get rid of the puzzles requiring “Bowman’s Bingo” to solve them. To my mind the Bowman’s Bingo “let’s assume” strategy is just guessing. You might as well “let’s assume” (ie “guess”) a number is correct and follow it to its conclusion one way or another. The guessing involved is irritating - I get to a certain point and don’t know if there’s a logical move I’ve missed, or if I’m now meant to “let’s assume”. The only way to know for certain is to check the hint, which I try to avoid doing. The hint function is a fantastic way to learn the strategies. Thank you for this, as well as the game on the whole.

Best sudoku app available. A wonderful app, by far the best sudoku app I have used. I particularly love the notes system and how initiative it is to use. Playing it over the last new months had greatly improved by sudoku abilities and I’m now flying through the expert mode in the time it used to take me to do a medium one! Just wondering when the evil mode will become available for all users? Additionally, would love if there was a version for daily challenge which was the same puzzle for everyone. My family is quite competitive and would love trying to see who can beat each other for the best time!

The update was a down grade. There was an update to this app over half a year ago that made it go from a great app to relatively frustrating. Said update for one changed the formatting to where it’s hard yo correctly select number as they lowered the size, therefore making it easier to miss-click a number, make a mistake and then have to watch an ad to continue the puzzle. As well as this, for some reason when I play the game now my phone overheats so quickly. I don’t know what they did but before this major update the app ran smoother, looked better and was alot fairer to use. I’ve been doing the daily challenges for almost a year now and it would be a shame to discard all the progress but I’m seriously considering downloading a different app.

Learning. Just some constructive, I hope, feedback. As a very beginner to the game I am enjoying your app and I am learning slowly from the easy level. My feedback, it is very annoying when the error message comes up in the middle of the screen after 3 errors as I can’t see where my mistake was to learn from it. Is there another solution.

Great app, could adjust ads. Great game! One of my favourite sudoku apps, nice UI, easy to use and easy on the eyes as well. The amount of ads and when they play are ideal, in between games and don’t take up part of the screen. However, there’s one thing about the ads that always bugged me a bit. During video ads the sound is automatically on, even if the phone is on silent, do not disturb, and when there’s sound coming from another app (like music or podcasts). It isn’t a massive deal and I turn off the noise quickly when these ads pop up, but there’s still a fairly annoying pause in the music. I was curious if developers have control over these subtle issues in regards to ads, if not, thanks for the lovely game!

Do not download!!. If this app operated correctly it would not drain your battery by 20% in 9 mins.. if the developers try and tell you to buy the ad-free version then this would be blackmail with your battery health at ransom!! I have disabled the app from using data but it continues to make my antenna red hot.. my phone is pretty new and don’t have any other problems with other apps and battery issues. Just this app!! I will find a way to notify Apple store and I might even seek compensation for damages to my battery health! There are other apps out there that still have ads and do not drain your battery. It’s almost like this sudoku app want you to spend money on their app.. this has gone long enough!

Bowman’s Bingo smart hint. I really don’t like the Bowman’s Bingo hint, especially when you have no way of exiting it making no changes. I understand why you want to provide it - so you can solve any sudoku - but, unlike the other hints I have seen, it is not a rule/technique generally able to be used in a pencil and paper solution. At the moment, the Hint function is a “Hint and Apply” function. At the least there should be a setting that allows exiting a hint without applying. Personally I want the smart hint system to just tell me what I have missed.

Absolutely frustrating “ADS”.. I absolutely agree with the previous review on this subject of non stop ADS. I now spend at least 4 times longer watching ads then the time I actually get to play the actual game. I have played your game for years but it is now time to find another sudoko game. It is beyond a joke. Fair enough I was happy to watch an ad if I had made a mistake but to now be forced to watch another boring time wasting ad because I actually filled the numbers in correctly is just pure punishment. Your greed for the almighty dollar has now ruined your game. Such a shame as I used to love it.

Recent Update to features. The most recent update makes all the numbers highlighted when you use “first-number input” setting. It was not like that before the update. As well you have a setting that highlights same numbers. So could you please remove that feature of the “first-number input” or keep the settings separate like before. I will wait for what happens next. Whether you see it or not meh. Just makes me not want to play sudoku for while. Thanks

Laggy. This Sudoku game used to be awesome. I could play a few quick games most days and it worked very well. Unfortunately with the last update and adverts it’s become very laggy during actual game play which is really effecting my finishing times. It’s no where near as responsive as it used to be. Sometimes it can take any where up to a full second to register your input which really slows you down and causes you to second guess and make more errors. It’s quite frustrating especially when you’re trying to speed run Easy

Ad riddled, and only way to solve is by watching them.. Medium level is too easy, hard level not possible to solve without pressing “hint” button. The solution given states the square as the only possible one left for a particular number, when it clearly isn’t. So in order to solve the grid, you either have to guess or press the hint button and watch a 30 second ad. Hard level should still be able to be solved with logic, thinking multiple steps ahead. Leave expert for guessing the unknowns. Medium level is too easy, so of course most people play hard. And that’s where all the ads are. Find a different sodoku app, skip this one.

Something is very wrong. At first it was like a normal sudoku game except once I started to play it a bit more, I couldn’t win. Say there is a four in the middle of the square but I need a four to complete a line, I can’t complete it or else I’d have two fours in the same square! I don’t know if it’s a glitch or not but it usually happens so I just have to make a new game and hope it works ☹️ Edit: It works! I turned the auto mistake thing on. THANK YOU

A great sudoku app - when it works!. I’ve played this app regularly over the past couple of years, and can recommend it as one of the best - I’ve previously rated it 5 stars. The reason I’m downgrading my rating now is that, over the past few weeks I’ve noticed an increasing number of ads in this App that “time out” with no exit option (ads normally have an “X” in the top right corner to close them after they’ve run). This leaves the player no option to return to the game in progress but to hard re-start the device and lose any progress made. It’s becoming such a frustrating aspect of using this App that I’m considering changing my allegiance to one of the other Sudoku Apps out there…

Excellent game/Could have more features. This will be a lengthy review so bare with me. I think a great addition to the game would be 1v1 / Multiplayer Sudokus where you can compete against friends. The game would be timed to see who can complete the SAME sudoku in the fastest time. (it’s not the same just picking a random sudoku of the same difficulty as the numbers in the cells are different and could provide a slight advantage to one of the players) This new feature could be added by utilising Bluetooth to connect the two devices or being able to enter numbers in a blank sudoku grid so that you have the same game. Other than that for the game in its current state is 5 stars when compared to other apps. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Things I love: - simple/user friendly interface - multiple options to chose from in the colour pallet - hints that explain in detail which provides a learning experience instead of the AI just filling in a blank cell - killer sudoku events which are a great new feature (would be great to see it as a permanent game mode in stead of an event) - stats on all games played to track progress and improvements.

Don’t like the new interface, but does what it says on the box. I like the daily and seasonal challenges, even it is just more sudoku. Not enjoying the new colour palette, the dark grey and low contrast make it very difficult to see clearly without having my screen brightness all the way up, I feel like I’ve been making way more mistakes because I can’t see the boxes clearly. And I want to be able to turn off the new statistics ticker. I don’t care about how many games in a row I’ve won, or how much faster it was, etc.

It would be cool if we could make our own Sudoku. I love the game, don’t get me wrong. But I thought that if you could either upload your own sudoku into the app or possibly make one that the devs could include it would be cool. Sometimes I find a sudoku online and I haven’t found an app where I could input my own numbers (the starting numbers) to do a sudoku online. Just a thought, don’t know if it is possible.

👍. This is the best version of Audubon in apps available. Love the variety of levels and accuracy in ranking. Finally an ‘expert’ level that challenges the amateur pro! Would love a bought version. The constant ads just plough through my battery and would love the space to be nutting out number patterns without the subliminal selling (sure some tune out), I have great peripherals so the constant flicker is just plain boring. Take my money and left me play uninterrupted sudoku... pretty please!

Not many ads. Not like other games where you have to watch most of the ad before clicking out of it. I really appreciate the game for that. I also find the “Expert” level is actually harder than “Evil” level. Expert level I am having to essentially make a guess on one of the boxes. Where evil is simply ruling out numbers that could be correct. I’m addicted to this game!

Best Game Ever! - Sudoku. With different modes and challenges a simple grid with a few numbers can be an enjoyable game itself! I recently got this game myself a few months ago and find myself challenging my mind with a few clicks. This game gives you no time limit but on the top right hand corner it keeps track of your time. This app really goes above and beyond with all the modes that you can change and I highly recommend it!

Best Sudoku App Ever!. I have downloaded plenty of different sudoku apps over the years, with all of them either being too complicated or not having the features I want. I can safely say that with this app my search has concluded. This app has all of the core features I look for in a sudoku app, combined with a minimalistic and unobtrusive layout that leads to a very enjoyable game or two to pass the time. To all those that were involved in the development of this game, well done.

Used to be alright, but it just kept getting worse. I didn’t mind the ads at first. One after each game that you could close quickly. Then it was one before or after. Then both. Then before and after EVERY puzzle. Then whenever you paused the game. Then after the first time you got all the spots for one number in each puzzle. Then each time you did that again if over 3 mins had passed since the last time it showed an ad due to that. And over the course of that, it changed all of these ads from quick popups to ones you couldn’t close for 5 seconds, then to those ones where it either doesn’t show a button to skip it (and then takes you to a different ad screen to close it) until 15 seconds in, or didn’t show it at all unless you tapped the screen. And now they’re each slightly different ads for the same money-printing, zero-thought, zoomer-brand game. While that’s understandably a deal-breaker for many, what finally killed this for me was the new UI update. Holy hell, I don’t know who’s on your UI team but bolded default font text on EVERYTHING is not a good look, especially when the text and numbers gets spaced out alongside it. And now when you fill in all of a number’s spots for the first time in a puzzle, it interrupts play to show a silly “good job!” emoji sticker in the middle of the screen for a few seconds. Before it cuts to the ad, naturally. Congrats, guys, you finally convinced me to shop around for a different sudoku app.

Great game no saving option. Hello, I love this app I think it’s the best sudoku app so far, but I’ve switched phones and reinstalled it after uninstalling, which made me lose all my progress on daily/monthly challenges as well as my statistics. I strongly suggest letting people create accounts or link their FB or Google accounts to save progress, as I don’t feel motivated to start over and over again. It would also be nice to connect and compete with people and compare our high scores. Thank you.

Ads interrupt game play. Open app, watch an add, start a game, watch an add, finish a number, watch an add, yea, every time you knock out a number, they play an add. Finish a game, watch an add, start a new game, watch an add. Latest set of ads full of bugs, 1 in 7 freeze, eventually crashing app. Just lost 30mins progress, not happy but recognise not directly dev’s fault. Thanks Dev, well aware how ad supported apps work, and have dozens of payed apps, but I’m a firm believer in paying for well made apps, not paying simply to remove ads. The game is good, simple and intuitive. The issue is not the ads themselves, simply how frequent they are shown and how they are placed. Specifically, long add shown on placement of correct number, lost train of thought by the time it’s over. Rating increased from 1 to 3 stars for 2 reasons, 1 for taking the time to reply to a critical review, should be commended, thank you (albeit scripted and missing the point, but points for trying)! And the other because the horrific onslaught of ads initially is a function of speed progressed through low levels. Once settled into longer games, it’s not 5 ads a minute, but original point remains, they interrupt train of though this gameplay. Banner add at top or bottom of game board would work, cycle every minute or more, still gets eyes on it without interrupting.

Power draw affecting iPad battery?. I’ve enjoyed this game over the last few months on iPhone and iPad. But I’ve noticed that my battery in my iPad has not coped with the massive power draw. It began suddenly reporting 1% power levels and shutting down -no matter what the real charge was. This has gone on regularly over a period of 6 weeks. The battery seemed to have developed a memory. It affected all other apps too. The battery tested ok. The only thing to have helped is refraining from using this app. Pity as I enjoyed it. iPad works fine again now. Definitely the app. Not the battery. No issue with iphone.

Too Many Ads. Used to be my favourite puzzle app. Very satisfying to complete a puzzle. Unfortunately the ads have gotten out of control. There used to be one ad in between games but not there about 5 ads during each game which ruins your train of thought and the satisfaction when trying to complete a puzzle as quickly as you can. You have driven away your most satisfied users with the increased ads. I have uninstalled the app and won’t reinstall it until this issue is fixed. The developer please actually respond to this review with something other than generic PR speak.

Heavily monetized. Can’t recommend this app. Ads in-between the session is now ridiculous. As much as it may look nicer and no more of an auto number completion setting at the end (which I can only appreciate from this update) after completing one 3x3 square, it will stop you with an ad and remove you away from the game. This will be re-occurring too throughout ONE game. Came to play a simple puzzle game to improve my focus not enhance my ADHD tendencies. If I wanted to rot my brain with ads, I’d be on TikTok or playing Clash of Clans or watch infomercial TV. But whatever, get that bag. Joke of a Sudoku app honestly in my opinion.

Best sudoku on the App Store. Very ergonomic for handling notes and quickly solving puzzles. I only have two real gripes. The first is that the Evil difficulty and Expert difficulty seem to be swapped because the Evil puzzles are incredibly easy. They never require any advanced technique, I can solve nearly all of them with box line reductions and the occasional obvious pair. The other thing I don’t like is the events sometimes have hundreds of easy puzzles to solve before you can even attempt the harder puzzles. There’s nothing difficult about solving a hundred easy sudokus except of course the sheer tedium. It takes about 1 min to finish an easy sudoku, so it ends up being roughly 2 hours of brute forcing my way to try and finally get to something challenging. Which is a shame because some of the events’ final puzzles are often unique. It would be nice if there was an option to try and ‘skip’ easy puzzles by completing one much harder one, just for the sake of saving time. Besides that it’s a fantastic app. I usually spend ten minutes a day solving dailies and a few extras

Good but drains too much battery. This is a very good sudoku game app. I find it very easy to use, with many sudoku puzzles available. Ads are not too bothersome. Main problem is that it drains ridiculous amounts of battery at a time. I don’t understand why, considering the game doesn’t look very demanding battery-wise. For example, my phone battery went from 60% down to 26% in only 3-4 minutes of playing the game. Impossible to play without a charger, and a shame since it is a good way to pass the time if I want to, for example, go on public transport.

Great app but somewhat confusing. Mostly I love this app and can no longer cope with any other form of Suduku such as those found in newspapers. However I become very frustrated by the new rule that 2 errors mean either you have to watch an advertisement or sometimes it closes down and I have to start again. I have bad arthritis and often my hand just jerks on to a number and I make errors.

Best Sudoku App. This is hands down the best app there is in the App Store. One thing I’d love to see changed would be when dark mode is on, not to flash a white transition screen after completing a level. It’s a little blinding when doing a bunch of levels in the dark. Would recommend!

Moins plaisant!!!. De plus en plus d’annonces indésirables

Too many ads. Too many ads, many of them with deceptive Xs to close the ad, but that actually waste your time taking you down a rabbit hole of more ads. Edit: The developer responded to me saying that I can remove ads in the settings. They didn’t mention the price for that. $7. I don’t mind having an ad once in awhile but this is ridiculous. I will also not be paying. 2nd edit: their reply is stating a different currency with a different amount. If they spent as much time on managing the amount of ads as they do replying to user reviews they’d have a much more playable game. Edit: they replied saying it’s in USD. Not in Canada!! Smh

Did they really just play ads mid game?!. For a puzzle game, I wasn’t ready for the game to randomly start playing ads multiple times during a single puzzle.

Horrendously Bogged down with ads. I have been considering purchasing the app just until recent. Lately I've been turned off all together with the absolutely obnoxious amount of ads. Previously ads use to pop up after finishing a puzzle, so I figured I'd buy it and be rid of them but I've been getting them after nearly every move I make now. Will be looking to purchase another sodoku app - the Overly aggressive and constant bombardment of ads to the point where it's unusable is just a gross way to get you to buy. Can't support a business practice like this.

Just Stop with the long ads!!. Way, way too many adds!! Especially during the same game!! And long ads!! Thinking of stopping for this reason!!!

90 Ad Clicks in a Single Game. Game is clean, fast, very nice actually. Playing on the phone I am able to see the remaining totals for each number, but its missing on the iPad, which is odd, seeing that it has more screen space. Daily challenge required me to watch Ads, at the game start, game end, and after every digit (1-9) was completed. Some of the Ads required as many as 10 clicks to remove, the least seemed to be 4. I counted the total number of clicks required to dismiss Ads from a single game and was surprised to see the count hit 90. I understand Ads is your revenue stream but I will purchase a different game that doesn’t require me to click 90 times.

Black screen. Candy Crush ad progresses to a black screen which blocks any further progress in the game.

Hate the new ads. So frustrating in a middle of a game. Hate the ads so frustrating in the middle of a game. The ads are too long. Going to find a new app

Sudoku. Too many ads cut in before game is even done.

A Good game ruined by ads. They interrupt gameplay with ads.

Too many forced ads. They really put in 30 second ads in during the game after completing a number.

Sudoku. Very entertaining. But I wish you hadn't changed the part where the number at the bottom of the grid vanishes when all nine numbers have been positioned. Before the last update it used to do just that.

Crashes now. Since aug 26 update it crashes an unable to use

Ads. I am cancelling this game. Way too many ads. Every few minutes as your playing the game, an ad pops up. The worst game I’ve downloaded for the number of ads.

Too many Adds 👎🏼. The ads before or after puzzles are fine but having ads in the middle of puzzles breaking concentration in b/s. I now remember why I deleted this app the first time.. going to delete it again!

New update. I have been playing sudoku for a while now and I have always liked the slick and simple design. There has been a new update and it has turned the colours all strange and the numbers are weirdly bolded. Please give an option to turn it back to original

Another great app lost to ads. Instead of having an ad play once a game is finished, it now plays ten ads per game, interrupting user flow and essentially punishing them for interacting with the product. This used to be my favorite way to unwind after work, but I’m insulted enough as a client to be switching apps completely. The cookie-cutter replies to reviews aren’t doing much to help, either. Especially when all they do is push the “setting” that costs $7 to get rid of in-game ads. Insane.

Siduko. Way too many ads for other games. Have now deleted rhis game.

Ads are quite brutal.. The game is fine, you can modify settings to make the game as you want it but each game you play you will be blasted with several ads that delay your game and sometimes you have to wait 30 seconds. I would just use a different sudoku app. In theory you can just press “x” or >> buttons but sometimes they aren’t there and when you finish a game you aren’t allowed to skip the brutal ads. Plenty of better sudoku games that don’t have a single ad!

Enjoy. Very good version when you pay to remove adds. Would like to be able to alter the position of the notes in the square, normal, top, middle or bottom. Have been using this for program for years and see no reason to change.

Frustrating with ad interruptions!!. Focus gets interrupted as you progress with miserable ads.

Too much battery drain. For a simple game it takes too much battery. Had to delete it and downloaded a different app

Ads. This game would be fun if there weren’t ads every 2 seconds. I got tired easily if this game just bc of this issue. It’s a NO for me.

Love it just fix the freeze !. Hi! Love the app (bought the no ads though) but there is that one bug when everything just freezes from few seconds to a minute. I'd love it to be fixed !

Fun, don’t like the mistake system. It’s fun and addictive. I enjoy playing it during school. My one issue is the mistake system. I have done things by mistake many times. Mostly when I accidentally turn off notes or touch the box beside it. And it has caused me to lose a lot of progress for a simple accident that wasn’t intentional. It’s very frustrating. Fun to play though :)

Annoying features without configuration options. Edit 1 month later: still freezing. Lately the app is freezing on an iPhone 12 Pro Max which should be one of the best in performance. They implemented some features that you can't shut off, like adding boosters. And keep popping up in front of you. Also, for some reason, once you place a number, you can place a wrong number at the same cell and it will simply fail your game. This is specially problematic when it's freezing because it will delete the correct number and place another one. Edit: as per developer response to open tickets. I did it twice, and they were simply closed with some unhelpful responses.

Sudokad. The sudoku works great. The ads are obnoxious. More so than ads usually are

ADS MID GAME. why the hell are there ads during the middle of a sudoku game? 1 star.

Slow. Once the app got to a higher level ads started to freeze or were slow. Plus instead of ad at beginning and the end now have ads in middle now too. Dropping this game too frustrating. Feels like to me, if you don’t pay you don’t play. I don’t know which advertised app is freezing as all I see is am black screen and a white x appears in upper right corner. I have already deleted this app. No further action required

Easy to use game. The game is easy to use and it’s a lot better than on paper besides it being on a phone you can take notes easier and the 3 lives is a great addition

My experience with Sudoku. I usually don’t writers reviews but this deserves 5 stars in my eyes. It’s relaxing and helps train your brain. It’s also great when your on the go while playing this game. Overall, I am having fun and the experience is enjoyable. It get me engaged and motivated while playing sudoku.

Update deleted progress. The latest update deleted a month and a half of my completed daily challenges.

Keeps my brain in check. Love the game especially when choices are offered on your 9 days challenges. One thing that l feel l should mention, it seems to me that you have changed the ratio of moderate levels and added harder levels. I play this as a relaxing exercise and sometimes for me, it takes away the “relaxing” part so I give up and won’t go back for a few days. Or is it that my head is getting harder??😄

It’s good but. I understand the developers need for the ads but to have one pop up in the middle of a timed round forcing over a minute to finish is too disruptive for me.

Sudoku. I love the challenge have to use my thinking cap

Ads. You get ads almost any chance they can get to give you an ad. The game used to only give you ads if you wanted more hints, now they just shove like a bunch of ads in one play through. Rip I still love the events, but it feels like they put a lot more extreme levels in so that you ask for more hints (aka they get to shove more ads in your face)

Ads!. This used to be my favourite game, but flipping to (super annoying) ads every time I complete a number really brings down the celebration.

Lock the Number Down. One little change that would be nice is to not let us put a possible number in a square that already has a correct number. It’s easy to hit wrong ‘keys’ on a screen, and it’s is one that could easily be filtered out. For example: if I have a 6 in a spot and it is correct, I should not be able to inadvertently hit another number like a 2 to replace the 6 as just a possibility. I am not putting this very well, but once we have entered a number and it is correct, it should be locked down and not be able to be overridden in any way.

Disappointed!. I want to play the game without being interrupted constantly as is the case here.

Garbage. It’s not to bad if you have roughly an hour for one game with the amount of ads that pop up throughout the game. It’s totally disgraceful how many ads have been put in in the last couple years. I wouldn’t recommend.

.. I really like to play sudoku. But there are too many ads. Thats irritating and insists you to uninstall it. 🤮

Crash. Keep crashing. Every 10 seconds game closes down itself. It started happening after last update which was on August 26, 2017.

panhandling devs. Free version is unplayable. Ad after opening the app, ad after starting a game, ad after finding all the 6s, ad after finding all the 2s, ad after finishing the game… 5 ads in the span of 4mins. Unless you’re ready to pay 7$ for a sudoku app don’t even download this. Go to the dollar store and buy a sudoku booklet for 2$. That will save you from the pure outrage of seeing that stupid looking emoji appear before every in-game ad. Unfortunately this really is the best sudoku app out there and is worth 7$ to me, but I gotta give 1star because of the insane extortion.

Great, except the tournaments. Great app, well worth the price of the ad removal, my only gripe is with the tournament system, and the usernames results disappear as soon as the tournament is over so you can’t see the final result. Three tournaments in a row I was leading by 1,000,000 points or more with under an hour to go and when I reload it says that I didn’t place in the tournament. I’d love to know where the final results are! It would also be great to be able to choose a name rather than the randomly generated ones.

Forced to play certain levels. I used to love this app and played it daily several years ago but now it forces me to play easier levels before I can get to the harder ones. I already completed 287 hard levels and 41 expert levels years ago. I have limited relaxation time and don’t have the time to play through and reach the harder (and more fun) ones. Seems easier to just install another app. I really used to love it and I don’t know who thought this was a good idea.

Ads, ads, ads. Too many ads in the middle of a game.

Ur mistake counter sucks. It’s a decent game but the mistakes make it so annoying cause you can make one even if there’s no number in any of the ones in the same row/rows yet it still makes you retry and 3 mistakes.. 3 such a bad number

To many add. Adds to long and annoying I usent turned off wifi and data to play

Too much interruptions for advertising. I stopped playing the game few years ago. But at that time the advertisement only played when you use hints or when you win the game. Now, you even have to watch the advertisement in the middle of the game. You can skip it after a few seconds. However the length and the amount of the advertisement is very frequent.

Fix the hint system. Overall the app has been pretty great, but with the latest update the hint system has become totally non-functional. It was incredibly helpful when it simply filled a single spot I chose. But now it auto-fills a nearly complete row/column, which does nothing to help. I prefer playing the game with number-first inputs because it’s just helpful to me personally, so I often end up with nearly complete rows that I’ll get to when I get to the number that completes them. I don’t need hints for those, I need hints to help when it’s 50/50 where a number will go. Edit: oh, so now it’s finding even more ways to avoid being helpful. I know how to use the pencil feature. I know the strategies of how to best use the pencil feature. What I don’t know is the 50/50 chance that I’ll make a third mistake and have to either start over or wait through one of your terrible 45 second ads. Strategies only go so far. Fix the hints ASAP, or I’ll delete the game.

Fun game, when it works. This is a pretty nice sudoku game, there aren’t any gimmicks or unnecessary features that would distract from the classic game. And I appreciate the inclusion of a “daily challenge” option. But, the app suffers greatly from constant performance issues. Without warning, and at random intervals, the app will completely freeze and I will be unable to tap or select anything on screen. Sometimes it will unfreeze after a short moment, but other times the only way to fix it is to completely close out the app and relaunch it. But relaunching doesn’t always work because, as I said above, the freezing is a constant problem that happens without warning. This problem has only gotten worse with each update and the app as a whole suffers as a result. The gameplay cannot make up for such a frustrating experience. I would honestly rate this app 5 stars if it weren’t for the constant, game ruining performance issues.

really easy to use. This app is really easy to play Sudoku on. It’s simple and has a clean design. Straight to the point sudoko playing. A couple reasons why I only put four stars: 1) there is no dark mode. I sometimes like to sit in bed at night playing games on my phone. With it being night and all, this is when I usually switch my phone over to dark mode. But this app doesn’t support dark mode and it’s white background will blind me. Please update your app to support dark mode. 2) You’re only allowed to make three mistakes. That can be rather stressful to newcomers to sudoku who just want to learn how to play the game. I also find I sometimes accidentally hit the wrong number button. I know my phone can’t read my mind and know I accidentally hit the wrong number but it is still frustrating.

Was great before the recent update. This has been one of my favorite apps for a long time. Clean, simple, and easy to use with good puzzles. The recent update has introduced far too many advertisements though. I understand the need for adverts as an important revenue stream, and had absolutely no problem sitting through them whenever I began a new game considering it allowed me to play the games for free. The recent update however has now made it so that every time I open the app, I have to sit through the same advertisements over and over just to finish one darn game. I mean, at least switch up the ads or something, but having to sit through the half minute of adverts numerous times just to complete one game because I don’t have half an hour to dedicate to sit down with it is too much. And I’m sorry but $7.99 is just too high for removing ads from a Sudoku app. That’s just not worth it. Thank you guys for the great service up to now, but unless the adverts go back to between every game, I’ll be looking for another app.

Pretty good, but one BIG bug. I love sodoku and for a while this app has been super good at bringing out that wonderful curiosity of it. I feel like I can practice and just simply enjoy my time. The layout is beautiful and I simply just love so much about it. HOWEVER I've been hitting a huge wall. In my settings, I have unlimited mistakes and it always checks for them. What it doesn't do is actually make sure there aren't mistakes. I've been stumped multiple times now because it says I've made no mistakes, when in fact there definitely is one, making the setting feel pretty useless. In my previous game, there's multiple boxes that straight up have MULTIPLE RIGHT ANSWERS according to the app's mistake setting. Like... what?? That fact for me, someone who is a beginner and would like to have that setting to keep me on track, is something that is very frustrating.

Great game, but overwhelming ads. Ever since I downloaded this game a few days ago, I’ve been playing Sudoku a lot! The app is neat and the puzzles are stimulating. I wouldn’t have been writing a three star review if there was just one or two small things I wanted improved in the app. However, it doesn’t make sense why there are SO MANY ADS. You want a hint, it’s an ad. You complete the puzzle, another ad. Every time you’re done with one number, IT’S ANOTHER FREAKING AD. Honestly I wouldn’t mind if it was one ad at the end of the game, but when you get NINE ads DURING your game when you just want to play is absolutely ridiculous. And the fact that it costs five dollars to not have 9-13 ads a game is insane. The developers seem to be reading all these reviews, so I hope they read this one: Please don’t put ads during the game after you finish with a number.

Great Online Sudoku But.... Love having this game in my phone except for two important issues. First, and most important by far, I wish there were an option to fill in all candidates automatically. Filling in candidates is pure rote. It takes no thought but is just a tedious, plodding chore before you get to the real “thinking” game. I am at the expert level and want to spend my time thinking logically and strategically, not doing a time consuming rote exercise. I do a Sudoku on my PC and the automatic fill in option is there. So much more fun. Second, it is kind of annoying to be charged with an error because you forgot to switch from “off” to “on” or visa versa when playing . That’s not a substantive error but a bit of carelessness. You mean to enter a possible candidate and get charged with an error because you forgot to click on “ on” and end up actually selecting a number. I guess the game can’t divine your intent. Anyway, 5 stars with auto Mac fill in of candidates.

Great game, some glitches. I’ve been using this app for several years and, over the course of time, they have incrementally improved the look and feel. It’s easy to use, well organized, and their regular challenges are great. The only frustration I have is the ‘phantom touches’. During the game you’ll suddenly see an incorrect number pop up, without touching any keys. Since the latest update it’s been happening more frequently and it is annoying. Recognizing that it is occasionally the device being used, not the software, I have cleaned my screen thoroughly and restarted the iPad, but it continues to occur. I have two iPad Pro models and it occurs on both. Hope they can fix this. The other, minor issue, is that stats are device dependent. I would love to be able to play on either iPad and have them both coordinate my stats.

So many ads now. I’ve been using this app for close to a year and a half now. I liked it because it was simple, it only had one ad per game, and didn’t cost anything. It still doesn’t cost anything but there ads what feels like every four moves. They aren’t short either but long enough that you want to close the game. It also takes hitting the close button on the ads three times to get back to the game. The latest update also added some smiley faces and “good job” messages when you fill in all instances of a number. It then sends you directly to an ad. I honestly could do without the smiley face messages. The simpler the better. The only other issue I have is that sometimes it feels like you have to click in just the right place to get the number to fill in. This hasn’t happened in the past for me and is a new thing.

Awesome app! but.... Almost everything about this app is great! It operates smoothly, it’s very straightforward, gameplay is fairly natural. I started playing sudoku on this app and I’m totally addicted. Ads are very light and often skipable, though they do put a large ad box dangerously close to a frequent click area... 😏 My hobby is to play a few games a day, trying to beat my previous time records and average times, and to learn a new technique here and there. Unfortunately I’ve been encountering a bug more and more often which infuriates me; the clock will fail to count, and can sometimes be stopped during a game by accident, skewing my results. This has happened to me in every category, so now I know none of my fastest times. It’s also happening almost 1/3 games now, or more, and I don’t catch it until I’m done because I’m so focused. Please fix! Then it will be 💯!

More ads ruined gameplay. I played for a while and I used to enjoy this app and would deal with ads in between games. In between games is understandable for a free app. Now, ads show up DURING a game. It happens when you clear a whole number in the board (e.g., you find all the 5’s) without the user prompting for an ad. I’m not trying to do an ad for anything that’s standard premium (e.g., game hints). The sudden ad in the middle of a game is frustrating and ruins the fun. This is an absolute deal breaker and is an awful user experience. This app deserves 1 star for this awful setup and awful cash grab for its users Also, the fact the developers are pushing the “you can go to settings and PAY to go ad free” as a solution for negative reviews is ridiculous and manipulative. It feels like a slap across the face. I don’t care it’s a “one-time” purchase or fee. I would pay to support an app I enjoyed, but the developers ruined the user experience to push people to pay. That is not worth any time or purchase from the user

The 90s called…. And they want their UI back. 😤 Update: I opened a ticket in the app and see that you sent a response, but when I try to view it, it says, “Failed to load comments” and no amount of tapping the Retry button makes them appear. PLEASE FIX THIS APP, I play it daily and I’m heartbroken that it isnt working the way it used to, especially because I made an in-app purchase of $4.99US. Original Review: The 90s called, and they want their UI back. 😤 Why in the world did you change the look and feel of this app? The graphics are thicker and cartoon-like (especially the trophy screens) and they have no sense of depth. It looks like you rolled out an old copy of version 3 or something. Worse, the sound it makes when selecting and holding a number is the same sound it makes when you PLAY that number! I about had a heart attack the first few times I heard that! I rely on the sounds to let me know I’ve done the correct action. But now I don’t know whether I’ve selected a number or actually played that number in the last cell I was in! Lastly, I paid a premium to have no ads and the Auto Notes feature. Auto Notes is now GONE and no amount of tapping Restore Purchase brings it back. PLEASE FIX THESE THINGS! Bring back the nicer graphics and sounds and Auto Notes! Thank you.

Buggy - borked my phone. I never write reviews, but I felt others would want to know that this app has crashed my phone multiple times. I also found the ads to be very annoying. I don’t mind having an ad on the screen while I’m using the free app, but you’re forced to watch long full scree ads in the middle of your game. Usually more than once per game. I found my phone would get hot most of the times I played. On multiple occasions the phone would become almost unresponsive - delays of multiple seconds. I would have to kill the app and then everything was fine. Twice it got so bad that I had to restart my phone. But today, the screen froze. No matter what I did, the phone would not respond. I couldn’t kill the app. Couldn’t restart my phone. Eventually the screen went black and stayed that way for hours. I eventually found a way to restart new iPhones without using the touch screen. I have an iPhone 11 with the latest iOS. Maybe your luck will be different, but I wouldn’t risk it.

Love This Game! So Addicting!. When I first got this game, I had only played sudoku a few times, but I remember loving it! So when I saw the ad for it, I thought to try it out! When I did I was instantly hooked! I was able to set what puzzle I wanted and was able to understand the directions clearly! I was hooked instantly. The only thing that I had a problem with was the three tries thing. But by reading a couple of reviews myself, I found that all you had to do was open the app, go to the gear option, and change I could turn off the three tries option by clicking the “Mistakes Limit” switch. I found it a little hard to get to, maybe putting the option in a place more obvious like making the icon bigger or just not having the option to begin with. Other than this small problem, I love this game and can’t wait to see how it continues to grow!

Too many ads. I used to play this game a lot a couple years ago and loved how simple and straightforward it was. I come back today to be bombarded with 4 different video ads over the course of just one game. I saw a response to another review from your team back in October claiming you would be getting rid of the mid-game ads; let it be known to anyone considering downloading that that is NOT the case. I’ll be deleting the app and moving on ✌🏼 —your response to this review is incredibly generic and empty- I’ve seen similar verbiage in response to every other review complaining about ads. You’ve done nothing to fix it and let’s face it, provably don’t plan on doing anything lol. Your poor little struggling startup company that needs to bother its customers to survive did just fine without the mid-game ads for several years until now. Maybe fire the person spending their entire work week leaving unhelpful replies to every single review and you wouldn’t have to depend on the ads so much.

Poor Use of Ads Kills Battery. Many free games use an ad banner at the bottom of the screen and that is perfectly fine; however, this game’s ad banner actually has an impact on my IPhone 7. When I have data on (regardless of whether on WiFi or 4G) the ad banner is at the bottom of the screen and my battery life drops VERY quickly while also increasing the temperature of my phone. When I have my data off and no ad appears, no temperature or battery issues. The problem of course is I don’t want to sacrifice my ability to use my phone’s features like IMessage or email over a game of sudoku when I’m not at home using a charger. Great game were it not for this issue. I would assume this has something to do with poor programming on the side of the ad banner where it’s somehow running on maximum overdrive or something to constantly stream information regarding the ad instead of however other games download that banner info.

Best Sudoku app!!. I’ve got about 9 purchased Sudoku apps, this one is the greatest by far!! Especially being a free app, for everything you get in it, the ads are more than tolerable, and for those who really can’t stand them, buying them is just a way to show gratitude to the developers 😉 To the developers - I don’t know how difficult it is to integrate cloud syncing between devices, but it would be amazing if you could build this feature in as I have multiple trophies on my iPad, but do not always have that with me when I’m, for example, waiting in a long queue at the bank as I do have my phone. Would just be perfect to be able to carry on with some of the previous daily challenges without having to re-earn all the trophies. Please keep up the incredible work!!

Please fix. Please fix the notes button. Several times I’ve clicked the button and see the button’s background change color, signaling that the button has been pressed, but it doesn’t switch between on and off which makes it so I accidentally put a number instead of a note. I’ve lost many games because of that problem. Also, please add a function/setting that allows me to change it so I can just click a number on the bottom and switch to that number instead of having to hold it down. There have been times when I start holding down in the number but it stops recognizing I’m holding it for some reason and will just put that number down instead of switching to it which again causes me to lose games. Aside from those two issues, the app works extremely well and I’m enjoying the game.

Can you remove the comparisons?. The app works flawlessly! Thank you for that! This game a nice way to let my brain unwind for 15 minutes or so each day. The recent addition of starting a new game with a pop up message about the percentage of people that solve the game is kind of miserable though. If you want customers to choose this app to unwind their brain over choosing another app, it might be a good idea to consider removing that which robs them of the freedom to just play. Comparison is a thief of truth and joy. I don’t want to know how other people are doing at this game. This is an individual game with no competitors. The pop up at the beginning of a new game makes me want to delete this app and download a different one so my brain unwind time is not being compared to others’ brain unwind time. That doesn’t unwind my brain. Thanks for considering this suggestion!

Love the game but ads are untenable. I have played this version since purchase of my iPad several years ago. It has been my favorite game. The last few months, ads have increased in frequency and length, often interrupting a game several times and wasting 2-3 minutes of my time with one game. Other games I have downloaded to try do this, too, but I just delete them. Lately with Sudoku I have experienced ads that lock up my iPad, and several times a day I have to hard reset it- not the game - my iPad. Just now, an ad for Candy Crush came up and it locked the game in ad mode, ran full length several times, even running continuously after I was able to exit the game and try to restart. It did finally stop, but isn’t there an answer to stop this? If it doesn’t stop this soon, I will just delete the game.

It’s just sudoku..... Sudoku, it’s an age old game. Countless apps on the App Store for it. So please tell me WHY ON EARTH there needs to be so many ads??? I hope the developers know that there is NOTHING special about this app’s game play that would warrant me sitting through a 10-20 sec ad after every game (regardless of whether or not I win). The UI of the actual game is clunky: I constantly mistype numbers bc they’re so close to each other, accidentally tap the ad banner at the bottom (redirecting me to a whole different screen), nothing special or catchy about number input, too many steps to switch from notes to numbers (important for when ur trying to beat a time), the list goes on. I know there isn’t a perfect app, I get it. But with all this in mind, devs continue to shove the most LITERALLY THE MOST ANNOYING ads Ive ever seen down our throats. Instead I can and I will go download one of the numerous sudoku apps at our disposal currently available on the App Store that actually PRIORITIZES user experience over $$$$$$.

Suduko. As a senior, doctors said, "try new things," ie Games, music, etc. to spark and re-route brain cells. This Suduko is part of a 3 or 4 game self-challenge I use to check speed, problem solving & comprehension. I like this iphone Suduko better than the other app I tried. Timing and thinking have to do with whether I'm ill or not, and what effect medication change has on my brain. Also, the games are FUN❗️ It's been a bit of adjustment for my ego to realize I may never get the speed of the players younger and healthier than I am, when I make comparisons. I have played against myself and love to see the improvement. I also like the difficulty options, according to the needs of my condition. I'm impressed with the people who create the programs for these games. You are all probably the age of my grandsons, approaching 30 years of age. Thanks, SandyB 👩🏼/👵🏼 🐬👍🏼

Love the Game- Eats Battery. I am a fan of the app other than battery usage. I am assuming that the all white background is what is drawing down my normally excellent battery? Perhaps I will change my phone’s screen brightness settings and see if that helps. Otherwise, this is a great version of the classic game. Update: Now that I have been playing for a few weeks I have another annoyance to note. All it takes is bumping the bottom of the screen, fat fingers, or forgetting to switch back into note mode to cause a “mistake.” Three mistakes and you’re out! I understand that you can switch this off, but I would rather there were more than three mistakes allowed in this mode. I have lost multiple games due to these unintentional mistakes which had nothing to do with gamesmanship. There is no cushion between the advertisements and the bottom of the gameplay area which causes the advertisement’s links to be bumped and new windows to pop up regularly.

Great puzzles but intrusive ads. These puzzles are maddeningly more difficult than the last sudoku app I had on my phone. They make me feel like an utter moron for a long while before I finally crack them and feel like a superhero. The controls menu could be a little clearer (for example, “New Game” is misleading; I’d change it to “Options”), but overall the puzzle interface is intuitive and easy to use. However, the incredibly long and unskippable ads for BS Candy Crush clones or Clash of Clans-style phone RPGs really dampen my joy. What’s worse, they play before they show my final time/score, which adds a certain dread that creeps up during the home stretch of finishing a game in anticipation of the annoyance. Because of this, I rarely play more than one game at a time. I would gladly pay for a pro version to make these intrusive between-game ads go away. The puzzles are my new favorite daily challenge, but the annoying ads keep the app from five stars.

Ad Bar Interferes With Play. I love this game. The daily challenges are fun, and the events can be challenging, but they have ads that hug the number pad so close that often times my finger will accidently touch them when I'm trying to enter a number. As a result, the full add loads up and covers the game screen in the middle of play. When this happens you have to get out of the advertisement, remember what you were trying to do, and go back to the square you were working on when the ad popped up. I don't mind watching an ad or two between each game, but when these ads pop up in the middle of play it is very distracting. If they had a little more space between the ad bar and the number pad, it would fix this problem. The game itself is awesome, but the placement of the ad bar so close to the number pad has become such a distraction to me that I'll be looking for another sudoku game to take the place of this one.

Be prepared.. After reading through a lot of the reviews and focusing on the ones with developer comments it’s clear that the developer writing the comments hasn’t actually seen any of the ads that they keep saying “ads can be skipped after 5 seconds” some probably can, but for the most part attempting to hit the small area that says it will skip the ad will just send you to the App Store to download whatever random thing, and most of them won’t even allow you to skip for at least 30 seconds. Closing the app out when you get an ad that you are having difficulty closing/skipping and loading back in, you are met with another ad… this loop is what makes this very irritating, turning a once ok experience seem now very predatory and greedy. I used to have fun with this app, but have since deleted it. Ads were way to irritating now. And I’m not willing to spend money on something that I may only play for a few hours over the course of a year. Hopefully this changes. I’ll be back in a year or so to see if it has.

Needs more challenges/long ads. Recently finished all the available daily challenges up to current, looks like only goes back about two years. I play all the levels easy to expert based on time available and how relaxing, levels seem pretty good mix of difficulty. Would like to see more badges or challenges or some kind of themes for backgrounds. Have tried various sudoku games, this is the one I have kept going back to and do at least one game daily. Like that can go back and do previous daily challenges. Maybe would like option to replay particular boards where I previously took longer than average or had too many errors and had to retry. Only annoying thing is the ads have been getting longer and longer, video, and sometimes when I do not feel I have touched anything in the middle of playing it sends me to the App Store as if an ad has been triggered.

GREAT GAME. I have tried to write great reviews for this game for 2 hours now but in the middle of them I keep getting logged out of the App Store. Anyway, this time I will mainly critique. A great feature to add would be what I am about to tell you. So whenever you put a number in a box (with notes of obviously) and it IS wrong, it erases every note around it that was the number you got wrong. If that was too confusing then here is an example: Let’s say I put a 1 in a box (with notes off obviously) and it IS wrong. The game will remove every note that was a 1 around it. Meaning that every note that was a 1 was removed in the square, row and column. This is very frustrating because I have to go back to every box and see if I had a 1 there as a note before. If you could make this change I would really appreciate it!

Why 2 ad screens!. Every time an ad screen comes up - when you click to skip it, a second ad screen comes on for the same ad that you have to click to stop- Why double ads every time?! There are so many ads before, during and after each game. There is no way that I’d purchase this- I don’t trust that ALL of the ads would go away. Most of the ads are for the same few games. After canceling them 10-20 times you would think they would get the idea your not interested in that product- I can’t believe they are truly there to entice the player to try those games. They have to be there strictly to annoy the player in hopes of getting you to purchase- That tactic seems underhanded and makes me mistrust the developer- I would rather a “purchase this app” screen would come up instead- at least it would be honest.

Excellent interface. The design covers all the bases: intuitiveness, numbers that disappear when all have been used, the ability to put in numbers that are still viable, good difficulty levels. There are, however, a couple of things I’m not overly fond of. 1) I have the sound off but the ads almost always are extremely loud. The sound is off so I can play the game when any noise wouldn’t be appropriate. Why would I want annoyingly sudden and loud sounds? Is there a paid version without ads? 2) I also turned off the time feature; at least I thought I did. Even though I don’t see the timer while playing, my time is still shown at the end, along with some sort of inane congratulatory message. I am totally not interested in being timed. It would nice if we could turn that really off.

I’m smarter than the hints. I like the usability of this sudoku app. Being able to lock numbers when entering in notes is very helpful. My one gripe is that I’m fairly certain all of the puzzles are not solvable without using a hint/guessing on a 50/50 cell. I have an issue if the app is accounting that you have to use up your allotment of 3 mistakes in order to solve the puzzle. There should be a settings option to only see solvable puzzles like you can in most solitaire apps. I also have an issue with the hint tool. When I have the hint tool selected for “smart hints” many times the hint it gives me is that my notes are incorrect, but then it adds back numbers that’s I’ve already ruled out. Also sometimes the smart hint is just to get a free cell filled in which proves that the puzzle couldn’t actually be solved just by logic.

Previous Version was Best; This is the Worst. The developers took a five star sudoku app and ruined it. They changed the advertising protocol for the app and it’s caused serious problems in both the experience of using the app and the app’s performance. Previously the app would deliver a single ad for you to view in between puzzles. Now it interrupts game play at different times to play an ad. So now the player must sit through an ad to finish a puzzle, to start a puzzle, to continue a puzzle (if they left the app for a time mid-puzzle), and also 1-2 times while simply solving a puzzle. Not only is this simply too many ads to bother with, but the ad mechanism itself is buggy and prone to freezing. In fact the app seems to be collecting so much “advertisements data” during this process that it occasionally slows or even freezes the entire phone’s processes forcing the user into a hard reboot. Also, if you ever choose to watch an ad due to failing a puzzle (too many errors or fat-fingering the wrong number) you will often find that due to the ad module serving you so many ads that there simply isn’t one available at that time. Or if you do watch the ad then the odds of successfully completing the ad are roughly 66% as a third of the time the ad will freeze forcing you to reboot the app and restart the puzzle anyway. In short: Avoid this once great app and find an alternative that forces less ads and is more stable.

Addictive and calming. I absolutely love it. It’s the best suduko game on the App Store. It’s challenging, addictive, and actually really calming. I play it with the mistake limit off because I make a lot of mistakes, but the option to leave it on is great. I tend to play it when I’m in bed trying to go to sleep, it’s super calming and after a few puzzles, I’m out like a light. Which is also great because you can change the colors of the game and basically put it in night mode so it isn’t blinding you, Which might be my favorite part. It’s one of the only games that I’ve found with this feature. I also love how you can go back to previous months and even years and play puzzles from there. The satisfaction I get from completing an entire month is unmatched. I don’t have any complaints honestly. It’s just a great game

Ads mid game, stay away. I loved this game, played it every day for the last three years. I understand it’s a free game and ads are to be expected, but I expect them at the end of the puzzle once you’ve competed it, or if you need a hint you watch one for the hint. However, this week they now started adding ads into the middle of the puzzle. Once you completely place all of a number into the grid you get hit with an ad. It’s a shame they’ve completely ruined this game with this decision. Both this and the killer sudoku game they offer were amongst the best out there. I’m now fully expecting the developer response to show up on every critical review telling us there’s an ad free version that we can purchase (like they’ve done on the killer sudoku game), which just confirms the reason they did this. Force more ads onto the users in hopes that a small percentage purchase the ad free version. They don’t care how many people they drive away or how small the user base becomes, they just want you to pay up.

I love sudoku!. I do love sudoku, and I think it deserves a five star rating BUT but I do think that they should add some music or something and please do not time me and not like being timed because sometimes if you deposit that I’m like dang it I didn’t beat my record so please put music or cancel the timing maybe if you don’t cancel the timer and make a little tick-tock tick-tock, tick-tock noise I know it might be annoying but you can just put like a mute button or a vibration by and feel like when you get something right maybe you could have confetti raining down when you get something right when you get something we could have a big ex going on the entire screen I just think would be a fun little edition, thank you bye

Guessing Game. Since the last update they are not solvable without guessing. Not just one guess is required but you must guess multiple times. So they’ve basically turned it into a guessing game. A reply from the developer to my review claims.... “If you have big experience in solving sudoku and knowledge about different strategies, you can solve them without hints and the method of trial and error.” This is NOT TRUE, at least not since an apparent update, and when playing the daily challenge. I’ll try the regular puzzles and see if they’re solvable without trial and error IOW guessing, but the daily challenge isn’t. Somehow it was set, not by me, to three errors and you lose, maybe it has something to do with that setting. Regardless it’s become quite disappointing to spend time only to get to where you must guess multiple times and then lose. I like a brain challenge not a guessing game.

Sudoku’s ads. Until this weekend I would have given this game a 5 star rating. Why did it plummet you may wonder? I’ve played Sudoku for years. Ads never bothered me. Some I took time to watch and others I didn’t. His weekend, ironically the same time that I began getting promotions for ad-free Sudoku, the ads (one common one was Shoe Station) began popping up on top of the game. Not below or beside the game as before, but running on top of the game to prevent me from seeing what numbers are in the squares or from being able to press on a number if on top of the numbers to choose to move to game board. If Sudoku developers think this with force people to spend $4.99/mo for their game, they are wrong. I quit playing and will no longer tell my friends about this fun game. It angers me that you developers would stoop to this level. In case you didn’t realize thousands of other games which challenge me are available to play. You should feel good about yourself. One day when many others have rebelled at your dirty tactics you might second guess your actions. Until it hits your pocketbook I’m sure you won’t make any changes. I will write a letter to Shoe Station and explain how y’all are using their ad. That’s where I buy my shoes and will begin to buy elsewhere if I see the need. Where you place your ads is your business. Whose games I play are my business. I just won’t play any from your company again. Enjoy your new advertising!

What should be simple, is over complicated.. The game works. It’s good. The variable levels of difficulty are great. The problem is the interface. It’s ugly, and most importantly it’s not clean. Also, it’s a very simple game, why do you need to run ads? I’m confused. The whole app feels - unclean. Wish I could just get add free scalable difficulty click the app get the game. There’s so much in the way - my suggestion is to have the interface have exactly one button: PLAY. You must work your way through easy to earn the next rank medium, and the amount of game so have to play to rank up is just a bit too much. -that being said, leave no choice for users, I personally don’t want choice I just want to play. As a new player to sudoku, I have no idea what I want or what’s normal. - amazing feature: hints. Hints high key taught me how to play the game instantly. Well done.

Mostly great sudoku app!. I have been using this app for about three years. I like the interface, and I play the Daily Challenge nearly every day. With that said, there have been two features from recent updates that are impacting my enjoyment of the app. The first one, is the takeover of ads. I used to be able to start a game, pause the game, come back to the game, and I’d only have to watch an ad at the beginning or end of the game. Now, there’s an ad at the beginning, an ad every time I unpause the game, and one at the end too. That’s a lot of ads! Even more frustrating, and I swear this only happens when I’m getting on a roll, ads are now interrupting my game mid-move. The other strange change is with the difficulty settings on the Daily Challenge. When I first began using the app, the difficulty level was random, which was fun. After another update, I would only get easy and medium puzzles. A bit strange, but at least I could finish my daily puzzle quickly. After the most recent update, the difficulty levels of the Daily Challenge are only hard or expert. I can not find any setting to change to fix this. Overall, I really like the app, but with the recent changes, I’m questioning how much I’m enjoying my time with it.

Add the option to log in!!!. I love this version of sudoku. It’s helped me to not only learn how to play but also become an expert, which I have now been able to take on in handwritten expert sudoku game books. The only downside to this app is that you have NO way of saving the awards you’ve won! I’ve had to change my phone twice since first downloading this game, and both times I’ve lost my monthly awards. I’m even afraid of losing my event awards I’ve won on my iPad (which won’t translate to my iPhone!) I’m very proud of my newly learned skill, which continuously helps me through my PTSD, but losing all of my hard work twice now has been very saddening. Please, please add the option to log in and have the information saved. This app is my favorite, and I want to give it the full five stars it deserves but free for paid advertisements is simply not enough.

Great gameplay but heavily intrusive ads. I like a lot of gameplay features on this app. Love that the hints show actual strategy behind the moves. Love how the Notes feature allows you to bold numbers. And I love that it has some truly difficult puzzles. However the ads are getting out-of-control levels of intrusive. I understand the point of ads in a free app. I am fine with ads in between games. However, these ads do three horrible, unfair things: 1. Ads interrupt games. Ads will pop up in the middle of the game, always right when you’ve unlocked the puzzle and are on a roll to finish it. Very annoying to interrupt game flow and momentum. 2. Ads take control of my device’s speakers to the point of turning off sound being played from other apps. Like, it literally stops podcasts I am playing through my podcast app. I don’t believe I have given this app permission to control sound coming from other apps. It blares music even when I have all game sounds muted, usually because I am listening to my own music or podcasts. If I have sound off, that means ALL SOUND IS OFF in this app, including ads. 3. Ads are saved in my iPhone’s storage. This app ads eat up storage to an unbelievable level. The app offers no way to clear this ad data without wiping out your gameplay history.

Collects copious data from your phone. Enjoyable app and good interface. I’m reducing my rating to 2 stars for a few reasons. 1-frequency of ads has recently increased significantly. 2-duration of ads before being able to skip has increased by 20%. 3-the themed adventures have become extremely long, nearly insurmountable, causing a casual player to feel unaccomplished. This fuels FOMO and reflects greed on part of the developer by either increased advertising exposure in both frequency and duration (cf. 1 & 2 above), or greater likelihood of purchasing the ad-free version. 4-tracking of out-of-app actions has become glaringly obvious. Please be honest in your marketing of this app: your product is not the app being marketed to me. Your product is my information that you collect, marketed to your advertising partners. Sudoku is merely the vehicle by which you collect this information without compensation to me.

Love sudoku. I have been consistently playing sudoku with this app daily for almost the past three years and I really like it. I've played 1055 daily challenges and my days streak is currently 332. There was a recent update about two months ago that changed the look of the game and some of the game mechanics ever so slightly. Vibration no longer works and it updated the games counter. Now whenever I finish a game it tells me "You've solved puzzles successfully for 66 days!" when my actual streak is much longer than that I still love this sudoku app, upgrading to pro with no ads is incredibly worth it for $5. I do wish I could go back to the version before the recent update because I enjoy the gameplay experience more but overall this is a really great app for playing sudoku.

Events and Game Board. There are 50 games per 9 day event. Sorry, but that’s too much time to invest to win a badge. It would be more enjoyable if the goal were more realistic. Right now it’s just too laborious to reach the end of the event, so I don’t even bother trying after a couple of days. Also, with such fun graphics for each event, would the company consider adding fun graphics to the actual board? As it stands, the board is pretty dull. I just received a reply from this review stating the developers are still trying to decide the best number of levels for the events. However, that was the same response given over a YEAR ago to someone with a similar comment. Does the developer even care about the reviews? I take it that’s a no since there has been nothing done.

Mostly great. I really enjoy the Sudoku app for the most part. I enjoy the challenges, though they recently made them so many levels that it is really difficult to complete the entire challenge without spending a ridiculous amount of time playing the game - I think the previous number of games was much more reasonable. My main complaint about the game is when you have an expert game that comes down to “Bowman’s bingo”, where you have to play the game forward in your head to see whether a number works in a square or not. Without being able to take notes on these moves I lose my place trying to remember all of the moves in my head, so it is frustrating to get stuck in these situations in a game. I wish they had a way to take notes specifically for Bowman’s bingo situations, so I wouldn’t have to try to memorize the moves. I often use a hint just so I don’t have to write it out on paper, but I dislike using hints.

Super intrusive ads. Response to the Dev response: Yeah, I get you need to have ads to support the app. I’m all for ads as a method of revenue on a free app. The problem is that you have made it next to impossible to dismiss an ad without clicking on it and redirecting to the advertiser’s site. The cross shaped button you’re talking about is either hidden or too small to click when it does show up. It’s a malicious design, and I encourage anyone else reading this to not give money to a developer who implements this practice. Original review: I have never seen an app so creatively force you to click on an ad. I was trying it out to see if it would be worth buying/supporting, but after dealing with trying find the deliberately hidden X button to dismiss multiple ads after being forced to watch them in their entirety, I’m gonna jut go ahead an uninstall. To the person who signed off on this as a good idea, I hope you step on a Lego. To the devs, great job on the gameplay for the one sudoku puzzle I managed to get through despite the ads.

I wish the puzzles would stay open. There are definitely features I like, such as being able to change the color of the board and the brightness independently from the phone’s brightness setting. I also enjoy having the daily challenges and the “adventure” challenges to mix it up. There are ads, but you can skip them after a few seconds (though some ads seem to have found a way to not let you skip. I don’t know if they hide the skip button or if some ads are just allowed to force you to watch the whole thing) My main complaint is that if I switch apps quickly without closing the app (for example to read a text quickly or change songs on my music app) it frequently backs me out of my puzzle when I switch back. It’s not a huge inconvenience, it’s just irritating enough to make me play a different app if I know I’ll be switching back and forth frequently.

Great app, hints broken?. This is a great app and I’ve gotten so much better at Sudoku since downloading it. However, with the latest update it seems like the hints are not nearly as robust as they used to be. In the past it would give hints that taught you how to play better by explaining a strategy you could utilize to figure out the next number. This made it such a great app because it helped me learn a lot of the more advanced strategies I would have never known about before. Now, all it says is to select a cell you would like it to solve, and just gives the answer with no explanation of how you could have figured it out. Also, the hints will tell me that my notes are ‘wrong’ from ruling out potential numbers and it uses a hint to ‘fix’ them even though I used sound logic to rule them out - it didn’t do that before. Please bring back the old way of doing hints!!

Great app!. I really like this! Great puzzle game to wake up to with a cup of coffee and get my brain started. Small areas for improvement might be to: 1) have an option for “random” level of puzzle difficulty. It’s great to do the daily challenge and then find out it the level once you completed it because it’s part of the fun to guess the difficulty level (for me at least). 2) I have been doing the daily challenges for almost a year before the current ones (going back to do the ones I didn’t do before). So having an easier way to scroll through the previous months / years of puzzles would be helpful (similar to the calendar setup for iPhone where you can go month by month or view it as a yearly display and click on a certain month). Overall though love the app! Keep up the awesome work!

It could be better. The puzzles are good and I do like the daily challenge and the special events. However, the game itself needs some major improvements. You should be able to disable hints completely so you don’t accidentally hit it. You should also be able to enter a number in a box and then have a button to ‘confirm’ your entry. I don’t like that when you do accidentally enter a number in a box it immediately lights up red to let you know there’s no way that number can go in that box. I would like to disable this feature and just let me enter and remove numbers as I work my way through the puzzle. When you mark my mistakes like this it’s essentially the same as giving me a hint. These are the things that don’t make this app great. It’s still good though as the puzzles are challenging on hard and expert but I find the lack of features makes it more difficult to complete the expert puzzles.
