Great, except. I love these pixel remasters. The only issue I am having is multitasking. If you minimize these games to check email, you come back to the game and it has restarted. Annoying bug. Also, I really just want to play these on ps4 and switch. And one more thing, to the review complaining about the sound, you probably have your phone in silent mode. Disable that.

A Very Pretty, Buggy Port. This version um is one of the best looking of those currently available. It is also by far the worst programmed. Numerous things that never have been issues suddenly are. Whoever SE paid to do this was not up to the task. Go play one of the other versions, if you have the ability to do so.

Bug: final achievement does not unlock. The "Master of V" achievement should unlock when you earned all other achievements, but it did not for me, so I'm stuck with it not working. Square Enix support directed me to Apple Support who directed me back to Square Enix. Clearly a bug in the game that needs to be fixed by the developer.

Crashes. Do not spend $18 on this it crashes often.

Fun but bugged. It’s a fun game with plenty of replay value. I would like to see the bonus dungeon added back in. More importantly, there are bugs that need fixing. It’s not giving me the achievement for killing 1,000 monsters, and therefore not giving me the achievements for killing 2,000 monsters and for completing all achievements. A very important blue magic spell is bugged, mighty guard, in one of my saves only. That is affecting my four job fiesta which is one of the main reasons for replaying the game. I would give it another star if the bugs were fixed, and an additional star if the bonus dungeon was added back in.

Terrible. Only game on the App Store where you can lose hours of progress because you accidentally clicked on a text message that popped up over gameplay. Complete trash that it doesn’t run in the background and immediately closes. Thanks for the garbage yet again Square, you really do know how to ruin everything

No controller support?. Acceptable remake. Just baffled by why square would pull controller support when the steam and previous version have it.

Bugged final fight. The final battle in the game is bugged and prevents you from being able to cast any sort of magic on the party. It’s incredibly frustrating to try and fight a final battle when most of the jobs you grinded for are useless because they can’t cast magic. Please fix.

Great Classic Freezes Often. The game is beautiful, and the music is awesome! It freezes a lot so you gotta quick save and regular save all the time, especially if you’re someone who likes grinding. Also, nobody wants to accept responsibility for the freezing problem that apparently is common. Square-Enix says it’s Apple who can fix the freezing issue, and Apple recommends the same steps as Square. It’s obviously a problem with coding somewhere, but that would require extra effort that nobody wants to do I guess. I was going to go with 4 stars, but then found out the issues they have will actually not be fixed at all. So, great game, if you don’t mind it freezing all the time.

Just Two Problems.. Final Fantasy V is a very fun game that I enjoy very much, between the job system and the amazing story and locations it truly is one of the best final fantasies I’ve played. That said, the pixel remastered has two majorly problems that made me detract two stars from it. First is the reduction of content, it’s rather disappointing that none of the added content past the original release like the necromancer job and added super bosses are in the game, which is saddening to me, this seems to have been marketed as a sorta ultimate edition or final mix and yet it doesn’t give everything other versions offer, but this might just be me. Second, and the larger problem, while it worked fine for a while, now I can’t play without random crashes, which have become really annoying and more frequent, it’s really annoying and disappointing since I can’t continue or enjoy the game past this point now. If this bug is fixed and the extra content is added I’ll give five stars, I’ll give four just for the bug to be fixed.

Good, but…. I wanted to play the game with my Rotor Riot controller, but it’s incompatible with this game. Touch screen works perfectly fine, but I don’t like smearing my screen with fingerprints while feeling my phone overheating in my hands due to long periods of gameplay.

Okay sequel. This is my first time playing FF5 through, and I like that it improves upon the job feature from FF3, allowing for blended classes to some extent. I’m not liking the continuous trend of using mountains to make games last longer. It’s really annoying, and that is one of the worse features that is carried over from FF3. There are several bosses in this game who don’t give you any exp or Gil when you beat them, so that’s irritating. Remember to write instructions down, because npcs might not repeat them later. my Gil also seems to mysteriously disappear in this game. After playing a few of these games, I see why so many people complain about the controls. I like the touch option, but it’s annoying when I need to pass through secret doors. The other controls don’t allow for precision like controllers did on consoles.

One of the best!. The game looks and plays beautifully. This is one of the best games in the series, and it is a great game to play on mobile. The job system makes it a fun game to grind out levels in my spare time. But there are a few issues that need to be addressed with this version. - The game crashes frequently when multitasking (checking emails, taking a call, looking up a guide, etc.) - The game timer continues when the app is running in the background. - Missing content from previous versions. No super boss and bonus dungeon. Even with these issues, this is arguably the best version of this game to date and easily worth the price. Hopefully the complaints above will be addressed in a future patch.

One thing missing. Great game but I would love controller support

Great game. My favorite final fantasy that wasn’t originally released in the US. If I complete the game without issue will up to 5 stars. For those of you having problems catching the black chocobo, switch movement from the cross pad to tap and you will get him easy.

Pretty good game. This game (like 6 and 9) haven’t had much added in terms of new additional content. Even Final Fantasy 2 got Dawn of Souls. However, I really liked how this game approached things. It really impressed me and the overall way to grind (after the update) let me grease through that rough patch and get straight to doing the story. The story was actually very nice, and was pretty complex. The characters also seemed to get more time to be fleshed out better which was something I didn’t experience in FF4. I also thought there was a lot of creativity oozing out of this game. Especially when it came to the small cutscenes or moments you fight against different enemies. The ending was also very nice and was refreshing. I can understand why (when asked) the FF7R director said if he had a choice he’d love to remake this game. I’d be excited for something like that. This game is definitely worth a play through.

Company greed. This is the same game it was before just with less content. A few pixels and backgrounds is not grounds for a new release. It’s a money grab plain and simple. The worst is that those of us who had previous purchased the Final Fantasy 6+1 bundle in the App Store can’t even access those games through the App Store any longer. Customer service is a joke as they punted back to Apple Support when this issue was brought up. I love the game but stop renaming the title, doing minor tweaks, and asking us to buy the game again.

Please fix the Cloud save thing. When I played this on my Iphone I saved my data to the cloud & when I redownload the game on my Ipad the save data in the cloud can't be seen Please fix this Square Enix. Thank you.

Controller support. Please add controller support. Final fantasy 4 has it, I figured this one would too.

Please add controller support!. I’ve never played the classic Final Fantasy series as this would be my first time playing Final Fantasy V. As much as I’m very excited to start playing, I know this game will be much more enjoyable to play with a controller. Other than that, the game runs smooth, superb soundtrack just as expected from Nobuo Uematsu himself, but the controls would be much better when playing with a controller.

Controller support required. This game is a pain to navigate with the touch screen. Especially because of how hidden pathways and such work. There is no substitute for a controller with a directional pad for this game. I can’t believe it was released without.

No controller support. I really do hate to give a 1-star review for a single missing feature, but the lack of controller support is a huge problem and fundamentally alters how you play the game. If you add controller support, I will gladly re-review.

Add GBA Content. 1 star for failing to have ALL of the content that is available in the GBA version. There is no excuse for this.

Had a great time!. Surprisingly great, polished-looking return to the original. It feels like it keeps everything good about the SNES version and makes it better. As of April 2022, I only encouraged a handful of minor bugs, like insta-escaping certain battles when I was supposed to attack, or a few oddly long delays for an action to execute.

Controller support. I’ve loved the franchise for ages and I’d love to see controller support for these games

5/5 with Sealed Temple. Aside from lack of bonus content added from the GBA release, this is the best version of FFV. Highly recommend due to its addictive gameplay and excellent story!

Black Chocobo bug is fixed!. Black Chocobo bug is fixed! The font is still atrocious and should be updated with retro styling. The game is gorgeous but the font really kills the cohesiveness of the visual style!

Too easy, cut content. Super easy version with zero challenge. All added content over 30 years has been removed. Of course this is just a scam so square enix can release the “ultimate edition” in a few years with the extra jobs, bonus dungeon, and hopefully a harder difficulty than SUPER EASY.

Not on par with other versions. I LOVE the original Final Fantasy games so you can only imagine how happy I was to learn about these new versions. In good faith I bought the whole FF Pixel Remaster bundle. I was immediately upset to see there was no controller support. When I went online to see if an update was pending, I was dismayed to find out that not only has there NOT been an update in ages, but the PS4 and Switch versions have alternate music tracks, no encounter mode, and an EXP boost mode! As a family man with a rather busy schedule, those last two features would have been extremely welcome. I’m unfortunately going to issue request for a refund. Hopefully someday Square will find it in there hearts to make all versions have the same feature set.

Final fantasy five pixel remaster. I just purchased the game and there is no in game volume adjuster and there’s ZERO sound coming out. Playing on an iphone 12 hoping it gets fixed shortly because this is kinda ridiculous.

Please apply quality of life console updates here too. I just wish the red mage didn’t take forever (console version shortens this with ability points multiplier not updated here) to master for dualcast (999 ABP mastery) unless you use magic pots in the phoenix tower for 100 ABP. That boost options helps ff5 and ff6 (keeps old music too) to speed up ability/stat gains, rendering these mobile versions obsolete (and ff2 for turning off brutal random encounters). To sum up otherwise, I did enjoy the characters with their upbeat yet serious moments. The game does kinda force jobs (end game makes you use freelancer/mime for masteries/stats) and research (chemist mix phoenix down with a potion is amazing but no kept recipes option). Being able to steal useful genji gear from Gilgamesh in each encounter was a huge improvement over FF3’s thieves that generally got potions. The mystic knight using spellblade will not work with katanas (no silver samurai here) and you’re gambling to accidentally heal bosses with the wrong element until you get petrify or flare end game.

Boost Menu?. I bought the game under the premise that there was some sort of a boost menu with adjustable Exp. ABP. Gil. I have not found anything about a “boost” menu. Kinda want my money back over this.

Need controller support. Needs backbone controller support guys c’mon

Great Remaster, but It’s buggy.. The new remaster is faithful to the original, and the new rearranged BGM is well worth the price. The problem is there are many bugs in the current states of the game, some can be game breaking. Examples ☆1. Submarine can accidentally dive onto the undersea land block, which will requires you reload the game, so save before you dive. ☆2. Boss Necrophobe doesn’t show up last floor in many players game, currently cause unknown. I hope those will be fix soon without needing to reload early save, I really hate to abandon so much progress.

Not for everyone.. Beautiful game, they even updated the songs, but it shuts off at random.

It’s been months, where is the controller support?. Seriously, I don’t understand. The pc versions have controller support. It can’t be hard to implement this feature and literally everyone wants it.

Fantastic Overall with one Issue. I earned 38/39 achievements and it didn't give me the Master of V achievement for some reason. Did everything I could think of to see if it would trigger but never did. Still a great game from a great franchise!

Great Game but QoL issues. I love this game and I’m having a lot of fun playing it. This game is good in a mobile format and is worth the money. Negative one star for no controller support. Negative another star for not including the Sunken Temple despite apparently basing this port off the Gameboy Advance (GBA) that does have that great content. I have not experienced any bugs. I can answer calls, send texts, and switch to browse the Internet while playing the game. If I minimize the game for less than 5 minutes there are no issues continuing.

Almost A Definitive Edition. Sadly the Pixel Remaster doesn’t have the GBA bonus dungeons and 4 jobs (yet). Without that additional content I sadly can’t call the Pixel Remaster a definitive edition. Though there is hope it will be added.

needs controller support. The decision to leave out controller support is baffling

the best version. touch-screen controls, music, graphics, all incredible. this is the perfect balance of original feel with modern features. both tap to move and the on screen directional pad are great.

Great but buggy. First off ffv is one of the best in the series and there are a lot of nice things about this version. Two big issues however. 1. As others have mentioned, on mobile it’s nearly impossible to catch fast moving npcs, namely the black chocobo and Mid in Crescent Village in the merged world. 2. Though it was accessible for a while, the Phantom Village has now completely stopped showing up for me no matter how long I walk around the forest where it’s supposed to be. I’ve gotten 50 random encounters and no Phantom Village. Please fix asap

One of my favorites in the series! Bugs fixed!. If you’re already familiar then you know the class system in FF5 is one of the best out there, next to FFTactics. Love the game! After fixing the black chocobo bug I walked right up to it and caught it first try. Great job on addressing issues!

Game sometimes freezes and other bugs. I’ve been really enjoying the Final Fantasy pixel remasters. However the final fantasy 5 version has had a lot of issues. The first thing is that for some reason you can’t talk to NPC’S that are walking unless you corner them, this makes catching a black chocobo extremely difficult (in fact the only way to catch it is to switch to “tap mode” and tap directly on the chocobo. Additionally I’ve had the game freeze on me several time In the final battle vs Exdeath. When you defeat exdeath there’s a small bit of dialogue before going into the battle vs NeoExdeath. Sometimes the dialogue wouldn’t happen and then the game just freezes. Music plays, background animation continues, but I’m not able to attack or be attacked. The ATB just stops moving. A few other bugs that I’m not positive if they are bugs or just a normal part of the last battle with ExDeath, but I find myself unable to target my characters to use spells like Curaga or items like Phoenix down or elixirs, instead I select the person I want to heal and it automatically targets the boss and heals it instead. (This is from the battle menu select screen. I can target the characters individually only by tapping on the characters sprite on the battle screen) Also noticed a bug in the void where I would use Hi-potions to heal myself and then do a quick save. If I went to use that quick save file my save would load and the characters weren’t at their max HP. I would then heal them again quick save again and the same thing would happen except I would have lost the hi-potions from my inventory. Im hoping that deleting and re-downloading the app will fix this problem for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Final fantasy V epic nostalgia. Big fan of this particular instalment.the first to cross mix the job classes with super abilities at the end of each job what it lacks in story it more then made up for in ,game mechanics.I personally have had no problem with the lack of controller support as the on screen mechanics work just fine and I knew that going into it thanks again square for a beautiful well balanced game can’t wait for final fantasy 6

Not a true remaster. It’s not entirely faithful to the original, so it’s a no for me. My biggest gripe is not allowing us to change character’s names.

This game has gamebreaking bugs gamers beware. So yeah I bought the game like any fan and, while it is amazing, I cannot give it a 5 or 4 star when the game has bugs that can soft-lock you. Spoiler-ish (my experience) When I reached the final boss and the optional boss that unlocks a save point, I would beat them and the game would freeze. End spoiler Apart from that the game plays amazingly.
