FINAL FANTASY VI Comments & Reviews 2026

Needs controller support. I fondly remember playing FFVI on the SNES. This is a brilliant port/remake that desperately needs controller support. Playing this on an iPad is pretty terrible without a controller. On an iPhone would possibly be okay. I encountered a game breaking bug within the first few minutes of gameplay and needed to start over. I defeated all the enemies, but was still stuck in battle and unable to run away. I hope that doesn’t happen again….

Awesome, but a bit rushed. Day one player here. You guys knocked this thing out of the park with the graphics and the soundtrack, and added a couple nice touches in places not well-thought-of, but the game falls a tad short in other small ways, as if it was rushed. Fix Strago's Blue Magic animation, please! Previous versions used a spinning blue triangle and a unique sound effect that apparently isn't present here. Thank you.

Controller Support. My god you still haven’t given us controller support even though every other platform has it. What can the possibly calculus be that led to this decision. Please someone on the dev team tell me why!!! I’m begging you!!!! Don’t buy any of the pixel remasters people. I would have been haply to but the rest of these releases m, even though I own nearly every re-release of these titles over the last decades. I just can’t wrap my head around it!

Awesome with one annoyance…... I absolutely love this version of FF6. My one complaint is the wonky digital d-pad. Just like FF5 pixel remaster and probably all the other pixel remasters, it works, but there are times the response isn’t great. Luckily in a game like this, it’s not extremely critical for the most part. There is the tap to move option that works much better, but a little annoying trying to get through doors. Rather than that, I highly recommend this game.

Delisted version was superior. I’m not sure how you’re supposed to get excited about a version with less content, no bonus dungeons, fewer Espers, etc.. The delisted version has way more content and looked better. Just wait in a couple years when the ultimate complete editions of the pixel remasters are released, with all of the extra content restored. This version is also *SUPER EASY* with no challenge whatsoever.

Childhood remastered!. Great revision of a classic from my childhood. Improved menu, post battle screen with EXP until next level shown, and even MAPS!!! The new remastered pixel artwork looks fantastic! My only gripe with this game is there is ZERO support for Backbone/Bluetooth controllers. You have to use the built in controller options in the game, which is incredibly disappointing for those of us with classic SNES Bluetooth controllers that want that classic nostalgia of playing back in 1994. Previous releases of games such as the final fantasy initial releases, Chrono Trigger, etc., support Bluetooth controllers, so why not the pixel remasters?

Not on par with other versions. I LOVE the original Final Fantasy games so you can only imagine how happy I was to learn about these new versions. In good faith I bought the whole FF Pixel Remaster bundle. I was immediately upset to see there was no controller support. When I went online to see if an update was pending, I was dismayed to find out that not only has there NOT been an update in ages, but the PS4 and Switch versions have alternate music tracks, no encounter mode, and an EXP boost mode! As a family man with a rather busy schedule, those last two features would have been extremely welcome. I’m unfortunately going to issue request for a refund. Hopefully someday Square will find it in there hearts to make all versions have the same feature set.

Too pixelated. Overall great game and great version. But its too pixelated. They intentionally made it low res for some reason. You don't need to change the look of the sprites, just make them higher res. Do some 10x pixel doubling. Whats weird is that some elements are high res mixed with the low res stuff. Makes zero sense why they did this.

Disappointing. FF6 is my favorite in the series and it pains me to give it two stars when it’s a 10 star game. My problem is that I thought it was going to still be the mobile version of the game. There are no added espers in this “ultimate” repixel version, yet it has some of the big fixes like not being able to use vanish/banish combos. I already owned the original mobile version and thought I was getting a complete upgrade.

Almost perfect!. Honestly I’m not sure why I had so much trouble sticking through this game on the SNES. The story kept me hooked, most of the characters are great, and the soundtrack is amazing. That all being said, I honestly don’t care for the Magicite system. Be prepared to grind constantly if you want to get your party members to learn all or most of the magic in the game. It’s just way too much micromanaging and it brings the pace of the game to a crawl. I much prefer the job system, especially with the improvements they made to it in Final Fantasy V. Also the final boss against Kefka is buggy as all get out. I beat him on my second or third attempt and after his death animation played out, the game froze up on me. That’s not counting several other occasions where the game froze on me during the final boss. I can’t be bothered to go through that final fight again after all the bugs I experienced. Hopefully the devs will fix this in a patch/update. Until then, I’d just stick with the original SNES game.

They added controller support!!. From the title, they added controller support! That was the biggest thing they needed, it was tough to play otherwise because your thumbs get in the way of the screen. The pixel art is beautiful, the music is remastered, and the game is mobile! Wonderful

Achievement Bug… still waiting.. Well, just beat the game… got the final achievements for bestiary and final boss defeat… and naturally, just like all the other pixel remasters, the master of VI trophy is bugged and won’t pop. So now I have to wait for a patch, and even then do I have to replay the whole game to get it? This is beyond annoying. I meticulously combed through this game and really enjoyed myself trying to get everything, and am cheated out of my platinum because of a bug. You’d think after doing 5 other pixel remasters they could get it right this time. EDIT: still waiting for a patch that’ll fix this and it seems like it’ll never happen at this point. C’mon Squenix. This is ridiculous.

Too many changes.. The soundtrack is neat how they recorded it with real instruments, but they changed a lot of things like making it more difficult to run from battle and other things. The spell “reraise” will not prevent you from getting a game over. For the first time in my gaming history (outside of time control events or special circumstances) I got a game over while my entire team was still alive. One major appeal to this game was the possibility to beat it at a very low level which was challenging enough in the original. With the changes made in this version it is a nightmare and possibly even impossible. A lot of the nostalgia is gone for me also due to so many changes in the sound effects and other things. I would recommend getting an older version. The only thing this version has to offer is the soundtrack.

Party switching broken, music doesn’t play. I am playing this game on an iPhone 15 Pro with a Backbone gamepad. I’m not able to get through the caves since my party switching does not work with the mogs. Additionally, music does not play through my phone speakers. Which sort of cheapens the experience of the game. Overall this game is unplayable on my iPhone. Which is a pity because it is a great game.

A great version of a fantastic game!. A fantastic remaster and I love it! The graphics feel both faithful and new at the same time! The Opera scene has always been one of my favorites of all time and this is the best version yet!! I’m a little disappointed in the decision to leave out the GBA extra content, but it’s not a deal breaker. I just don’t get why there’s a forced analog stick on the screen, why it’s so big, why it’s opacity can’t be adjusted or why it doesn’t appear wherever I touch the screen but instead is at a fixed location. (I also wish it were on consoles instead of just phones and Steam.) (Also, the game’s clock is broken. Apparently, it took me 97 hours to get to Vector 🤣)

The Best Pixel Remaster. It goes without saying that in Squares PR Games this is the one everyone was expecting to benefit the most. And correctly so FF6 has the most improvements and updates to to this remaster that there is practically no reason to return to the other versions (except GBA). So I’ll keep my review brief and only focused on the iOS experience. Whether you’re playing on iPhone or iPad the game is stunning with text, maps, and models clearly visible no matter the resolution. And as of now THERE IS CONTROLLER SUPPORT but with a few exceptions like naming characters. Overall if great way to pick up and play the game, little pricey but this is the one everyone recommends and wanted to get anyways so worth the price tag.

Chaser Veldt bug!. There is a bug if you fight Chaser in the Veldt the Trappers don’t spawn when defeated. The ATB gauges stop filling, you can’t successfully run, and your only option is to reset and lose progress. Hopefully they fix it. For now, unless you are leaping to acquire the rage, run from Chasers in the Veldt!

A Fabulous Remaster - Close To Perfect. I’ve been waiting for this remaster ever since I played the original Final Fantasy 6 release for iOS which was a (phantom) train wreck. So far the remaster is great - the graphics, music, QOL improvements - all top notch. A few complaints / issues however that are keeping this game from being perfect. Hopefully they’ll be addressed in future updates. 1. The font - I’m playing on a 2020 iPhone SE and I feel like I have to keep it inches from my face to read the dialogue. It doesn’t help it’s small and impacted. I hope they change it to a more legible font (although unlikely given this is the 6th PR release with the same font). Maybe on bigger phones or tablets this is less an issue, but on smaller devices it’s borderline unreadable. 2. The play clock is broken - If you’re still in game and you switch to another app, it’s still running. It’s taken me 16 hours to get to the Imperial Camp apparently. 3. The d-pad is annoying - I’m not sure why they felt the need to put a mini version of the character you’re using in the middle that moves the same way as it does on screen. It’s kind of redundant? I know who I’m using. It also would be nice to have the option for a 4-way d-pad instead of the 8-way. I find myself going diagonal half the time by accident.

Great remaster; familiar game with phenomenal music. I’m loving my time with the Pixel remaster. The only reason I am giving this a 4 is due to a game breaking bug. It’s for the optional quest for Gogo. After crossing the bridges with the wandering too-hat gentlemen, if you enter the next room, the game soft locks and remains as a black screen. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m currently walking around with one of my characters as an imp or using the moogle charm, but it looks like I won’t be able to get gogo this time around. Still, I’ve been having a great time playing through one of my favorite RPGs of all time.

It really is Pixel Perfect with some bells and whistles. I’ve been waiting for this since they announced the pixel perfect remasters and honestly I’m quite pleased with this release. It is definitely a high contender for the definitive way to play Final Fantasy 6. However there are some annoyances with the control pad.

Brings back my childhood but…. Having played through the only issue I have with the game is there is no extra content after you play through ( Dragon’s den. Soul shrine. Ect) Given if you bought the collection and was told it will no longer be supported in the App Store once the pixel remastered series came out well… I feel like the extra content mentioned above should have been given since we had to basically rebought the series or at least an option to pay a little extra for the extra content. Other than that over all great job on a classic.

Wow. I’ll be honest, even though FF6 is one of my all time favorite games, the pixel remaster series has barely been on my radar. The improvements seemed minor and almost gimmicky, and hardly worth the time or money. Especially when I already own previous editions of the titles. But the love and care that went into the FF6 pixel remaster exceeds expectations. The new backgrounds, special effects, color pallets, vibrancy, character sprites all work together to create a beautifully fresh and yet incredibly faithful version of this game. Combat feels quick and snappy but has the usual speed and UI customizations to suit it to your needs. More than anything its hard to say enough about what the new soundtrack does for the experience. These are still very much the BGMs we know and love, but faithfully redone in an orchestral style that fits perfectly. Added instruments and layers in a few cases serve to subtly enhance the power of these musical pieces rather than make them into something unfamiliar. This is FF6 better than I remember it. It looks, feels, and sounds incredible. I’m very impressed and based on my first few hours with the game I expect this will truly be the definitive version of FF6.

CONTROLLER SUPPORT!!!!. FF6 is obviously a great game but for the love of god would have putting controller support in a game already with controller in mind be so difficult its like you’re intentionally trying to upset your player base (plus the steam version already has it so there is absolutely no reason iOS should have launched without it. Keeping this 2 stars because its playable and its a great game but there is seriously no excuse for lacking controller support

No controller support apparently. This is a big downside. Obviously there must be controller support since this was also released on steam, but I can’t get it to work with iOS. I can play with a controller on every other final fantasy app that I have on my phone. Including the other version of FF6. This makes streaming this game much more inefficient, and on top of that, playing the game with a controller instead of the touch screen is easier and more intuitive. Otherwise the remaster is great. The updated score is fantastic. I much prefer the pixel graphics to that weird, post retro sort of thing that is on the other FF6. Pretty much everything is great about this game except for the lack of controller support on iOS. If this gets implemented then I will change my review to 5 stars.

Music way updated!. I basically play this game for the music and what a surprise it was to find every track recorded by real instruments! Some of the tracks have been overhauled quite a bit but it only adds to the original. I live for the final battle with Kefka and the following ending sequence because the musical score is wall to wall NEW music after playing a game that is already jam-packed with a great score throughout. One thing MUST be fixed for the ending in this version. The timing of the music starts getting off-track right around the moment Shadow is basically giving up and shooing Interceptor away to go on without him. When the music lines up, the emotional impact is 😭😭… but instead it starts going on to Strago’s goofy theme right in the middle… and then it wraps before Strago’s sequence is done, so there is just silence while he’s grabbing the hook of the airship. The problem with the music timing happens yet again at the very end as the airship is blasting through the clouds- awkward silence because it timed out too early! Please fix! I wouldn’t want anyone new to be robbed of such a perfect ending to a great game. Thank you! Can’t wait for this game to get a modernized reboot some day!

Needs controller support. My favorite game of all time and the pixel remaster looks and feels AMAZING. However, it desperately needs controller support. Being able to play this on planes or in hotels with a control would be incredible. Having to hold the iPad, makes me just want to play other games instead. If this fix this, it will be 5/5 for sure!

It’s as good as everybody says.. I’ll make this clear: I have no nostalgia towards this game. As a teenager, I was infinitely more attached to FF4 than I was to this game. Now that I’m an adult, playing through this game has been an absolute pleasure. FF4 has been dethroned, and then some. Considering all the high praise this game has gotten from countless other reviewers, there’s not much else I can say that hasn’t already been said. This game is great. It’s got its flaws, sure, but so does every other ‘flawed masterpiece’ that’s ever come out. The World of Ruin is a bit unfocused, and it’s where the game’s pacing kinda just fizzles out. The game’s battle system is VERY easy to break (magic OP) and not all of the characters are equally well written. Regardless, this game is pretty much ageless. If you’re a Final Fantasy fan at all whatsoever and you haven’t played this game, please do so. It’s as good as people say it is.

Loving it so far - **Request for control update**. This game is blowing my mind. It’s the first time I’ve played FFVI but I’ve watched a few videos of the older versions and the art the team they put into this is incredible. The music, the visuals, the atmosphere, the tiny little movements the characters do, I love it. Really enjoying the story so far too. I can’t wait to see where it leads. TO THE DEVELOPERS: Could you please update the control system? (these notes are from using an 11in. IPad) Having the virtual joystick be locked into place means that whej I lift my thumb for whatever I will inevitably press it down too far to the left or bottom or something of the d-pad (since I can’t feel the physical buttons) and so then the character will be running in directions I didn’t intend and it gets annoying. I played Chrono Trigger on my iPad recently and the controls on that were PERFECT. Having the joy stick appear wherever your thumb lands and swipes, but then stay in the same spot if you are just tapping, is a great system. Could you add a third control option to have the floating joystick? Thank you!

Love it, but…. So far the game has been great. However there are a few flaws that are hard to ignore, most of them being with Gau and the veldt. First of all, using auto battle with him just does not work. You can use the memory cursor feature which still does work… kind of. If you are tapping the screen to make selections it works, otherwise you still have to scroll through the list of rages to find the highlighted one and re select it. Second, none of the rages have descriptions. Unless you have played the game before, or have been paying attention to every enemies move set you won’t have any idea what you are telling him to do. I’ve also had issues with his rage list even showing up. In that case you can tap the screen and hope that the last rage used is the one that you want, or use the auto battle function to just make him attack. Third, I have had issues with the game just stopping at the end of battle. This has happened in the middle of the last enemy having been defeated and is de materializing, and after it has done such. You can still select some of the functions, but ultimately you have to restart the game just to continue playing. Finally, I’ve noticed that the game has issues restarting when switching to another app. It is frustrating having to switch over to another app only to remember the game has probably reset and you are either going to have to restart from your last save, or hope the auto save feature has saved your game recently. Don’t get me wrong, this is one of my favorite games in the Final Fantasy series, I just hope that square enix will fix some of these problems to give the game a more enjoyable experience.

Great Version. Rage commands not remembered with auto battle. I get around this by selecting to remember my last inputs then I can just quickly tap to re-Rage, but remembering Rages would be nice, especially since the monster names can get cluttered. Some animations are not as smooth as the SNES, but this is probably due to a one size fits all engine. This includes multiple sprites moving in sync, dismounting chocobo, airship lands on the maps Z-axis rather than Y-axis, the thief hopping between Zozo windows, etc. A small handful of things don’t translate to mobile, like blitz inputs. The game really holds your hand when inputting blitz commands, so you will never fail. With auto-battle this is just a fact of life. I suppose a quick fix would make blitzes simply consume MP to balance a 100% success rate, but whatever. A few of the more memorable scenes are redone with a bit of 3D flair and works really well. OST is amazeballs.

Original music gone?. Great game, and the quality of life improvements are phenomenal. I wonder why the same game on Steam kept the Original soundtrack option, but the iOS versions only have the new musical arrangements.

Controller Support!!. I love this game and I actually purchased it to play with my backbone external controller for iPhone and I think it would be awesome with support as I didn’t realize it didn’t have it.

STONE COLD CLASSIC (with slight control issues). I’m not going to be the one millionth person to heap praise upon this undisputed masterpiece, I just swung by to say that adapting the controls for a touchscreen environment couldn’t have been easy. Initially, it’s a bit awkward, but 10 hours in – I had easily adjusted. Had the OPERA HOUSE scene not been altered, this could’ve been a deal breaker, and no, I’m not referring to the singing. Which is just fine. Slight navigational issues with the TAP function, but mostly workable. Cheers!

Great! Controller support would be nice.. I heard that this was better than vii, which I have on switch, and LOVE, but I thought I would never be able to get vi. Well here it is! You can play it in slightly remastered graphics, or original! Overall, the game is perfect! A good story, maybe not as entertaining as vii, but still very good, gameplay is great, controls are a little awkward, but good considering it’s on mobile. Would be five if it had controller support. Please square! Everyone wants it! It would be a great experience, a fantastic one, we just need controller support. It’ll even sell better! Add controller support

Saving etc.. Don’t go lolly gagging through this game and think you are safe. YOU MUST DO HARD SAVES!!! you will be sad when the game resets in the background even though you’ve been playing it all day. Quick saves mean nothing. Controls are wonky. Player gets lost behind stuff in the background.

Requesting controller. Game is terrific always has been and even better with a new pixel update to the game but please just update to where we can use the controller on our phones

Worst version of FF6 pixel remaster. I didn’t realize until AFTER I paid full price for this game that they have NOT updated this game with the same quality of life changes the PlayStation and Nintendo switch versions got. The music sounds great and it is a great game on it’s own, but it’s a shame that IOS doesn’t get the same care and love the console versions got.

Music Segue during final boss missing. Every version since the original stops each loop and moves on to the next. Can you please patch this to allow the loops to complete and segue into the next loop rather than immediately stopping the loop and moving to the next? Each loop should wait to complete and move into the next loop during each section of the final boss. It ruins the original experience as is.

Good for story and art. Terrible for players. I can overlook that it’s all controlled on screen. I adapted. I can overlook that it does not contain extras added later, from dungeons to gear. What I cannot overlook is that nothing your steal from the final bosses carry over. You know that was was the whole point of being able to steal from them, right? I know the game limits you on what you can have based on choices (Ragnarok), but limiting it further just ruins the experience for any completionism. My fans of the game are completetieonists. Disappointing overall. A new game + feature would resolve a lot of gripes with this ge.

Thank you. Thank you for bringing this game back for mobile. Not only is it an amazing game, but it brings back memories and nostalgia from my childhood as the first RPG I ever played (way back in 1994 on Super Nintendo!), and it’s so great to play again. For the mobile implementation itself: the high res menu screens, updated music, and many other aspects are really nice improvements over the original game. And the Quick Save feature is super appreciated for being able to play at random times without having to sit down long enough to find a save point. Really enjoying playing this game again. If I had one nitpick to make, it would be to let us pass through the initial loading splash screens faster. iOS seems to like killing the game in the background between play times, and it takes a while to go through them. But thank you again for building/releasing this game for mobile iOS!

One of the best games of all time, but one annoying caveat. Allow us to disable the “BZZT!” sound when using the tap control method. EXTREMELY aggravating when you’re looking for goodies hidden in nooks and crannies while exploring, or trying to find the transition tile when going in a door or on a staircase. These situations are Omni present so that noise never ends. It’s just nonstop “BZZT BZZT BZZT”.

iPad version looks terrible. This looks amazing on phones, but on iPad the screen is so zoomed in that the pixels are huge and look too muddy to play. I have to sit 5 feet away from the screen to make sense of what I’m looking at, and it’s not fun to play because of it. I bought this specifically for my iPad so I feel like I’ve wasted my money. On iPhones - PLEASE disable the white Touch Bar at the bottom of the screen. Come on guys, you’re not new to iOS, you know how to do this right.

Good, but could be better. While this is the best game in the bundle, it has the worst controls in the bundle. Tap mode doesn’t work outside of dungeons and towns, where it would be most useful. The airship controls have an axis option, but this should be the default control. The chocobo controls are so weird I just didn’t use chocobos. The game also appears to have frozen up before I got to the end credits, so I’m unsure what happens to Terra.

Excellent update - please enable for Apple TV. One of my all-time favorite games. I have played through this on other platforms...but would love it to be on Apple TV to play alongside my kids on a big screen.

Game looks and plays well but….. The biggest issue - No Dragon's Den? Fired it back up, was excited getting all the endgame gear, hunted down the the dragons to find that I didn’t receive the stone tablet upon defeating them all, and I can’t access the dragons den. Great memories, playing on SNES, unfortunately this remaster was the shorter of the two versions of the game and does not benefit from the endgame additional content the GBA provided.

Controller Support. For once I have played a version of this game based on the original and not the remakes with the extra features. The only thing I would ask is a controller support. I have the Backbone controller accessory. It would be awesome for this game and rest of the Pixel Remaster games have controller support too.

Great remaster, impassable glitch. I’m excited for the remaster here with all its bells and whistles. Music, art, spell animations and sounds are all a great update. Some of the nostalgia factor is lost and a few small changes are annoying. Overall, it’s fun to play through again. Glitch: during the early “Battle To Protect Terra”, I’ve encountered a bug where the Megadoth and Lobo battles will repeat 2, 3 or even 4 times after the initial battle and after the sprite has disappeared. This means my party is wiped far before the battle with the general, and I can not progress through the game. I don’t know how to proceed.

Great game! 10/10. I’ve never played FF6 before, just like most I started with FF7 and I kept hearing people say FF6 is the best one and so I had to see for my self. I must say I missed out all these years on a gem, the story is captivating and the characters are fun and lovable. This is definitely around the pinnacle of squaresoft/square enix games. Very enjoyable, and will definitely be doing multiple playthroughs.

Ninja rage formation doesn’t spawn in the Veldt. Awesome game! Brings me back. Although trying to complete the rage achieves is quite troublesome since the ninja doesn’t spawn in the Veldt once encountered. I’ve encountered the ninja in the sealed cave and on the floating continent. The ninja doesn’t spawn though. I’ve tried to see if they would spawn after encountering them in the sealed cave and then again when encountering them on the floating continent with no luck.

Great game, not so great controls. As a game it is as epic as the original with a nice graphics upgrade. It is just such a pain to use the on screen controls. I have several of the FF remakes and bought a Bluetooth controller with these games in mind mostly. Finding out they are t supported in a huge let down. Would be a 5 start if controller support was added

I met a strange bug.. I’ve got 36/37 achievements now, only “Earn all achievements” one left, that’s really strange.

Font size too small. Please increase English font size, it needs to be x2 bigger. Otherwise a good game, well done.

Good game but need fix few things. 1.FF6 is real different to FF1 ~5, Should build another “Skip” key in the battle around “Escape”, In this game, there are many battles we have to skip to next character doing some first in order, but “Skip” in second page, and this is an “ATB” RPG, Lots of situations we are faster, but with uncomfortable control let enemies go first. At least put the “Skip” to first page. 2. BUG......2000kills archevement has bug, i account my savedata, im sure i have over 3700 kills but didn't get the archevement. That's make me last 2 archevements not complete yet. SAD. because of this, i didn't play it for 3 days wait for next patch fix the bug. Then ill go another low level challenge. 3.Veldt has uncomfortable game control∶ When you train Gau in Veldt after Gau jumped, If you turn on the auto mode will not stop when Gau return.(For example∶ Celes and Terra both use Ultimate to enemies, Celes first killed all the enemies→Gau return→Terra Ultimate to Gau→Gau leave even you turn off auto before enemies die, but command still last to Gau) At lease in Veldt when Gau return, should turn off the auto mode or stop everything automaticly, otherwise i have to manually play all battles. Extremely uncomfortable while i get all rages. For anyone who care about all archevements, tips for Setzer slots “777” Team build Locke+Setzer+Any 2, Locke and Setzer wear Hermes sandals or Marvel shoes, when initiation Locke use “Echo screen” then Setzer slots(Must before enemies), you have chance to do “777”, Just do it like in the casino, Because of the codes, this is the easiest steps make 777 possible, or almost situations are impossible to get 777.

Crash and losing progress. I am on iPhone 12 and yet the game can crash and makes you lose progress. I have lost hours of progress and I just don’t find it worth my time trying to get it working smoothly. Some of the UI design is also very questionable, such as the command actions during battle (for defend row skip). Ffiv can show you the time it takes to perform action, but this one doesn’t. So it seems the remaster was done without consistency and missing great feature available in previous remasters. Get this game if it’s on sale, but the full price is not worth it. Before you buy, check the iOS patch notes. Many of the bug fixes were directly related to crash and even parts that could throw you back to the old world causing you to lose many hours of progress. And they need to roll out more patches as clearly there are game breaking bugs that still exist. I have requested a refund and hope it will be approved by Apple since it has only been less than 1 week of purchase.

Great but lacks controller support. The pixels look great on a mobile device due to the smaller size. Music is lovely. Tip for the touch controls tap first (activates the movement cursor) then drag to move. If you try and move without tapping first you'll constantly walk out of a room (trust me)

Please add controller support. Please add controller support for this classic game

Best Title in the Series, Period!. I got to say it is a joy to play this game again, I’ve waited for months and now I can play this incredible story all over again! I just wish everyone would stop complaining about controller support. I don’t need it to enjoy this game so why do you? Square Enix thank you for this and you keep going strong like you have for 35+ years!

Needs controller. I did not see credits at the start of the game, seems like it wasn’t ready for release. I noticed they took away some dialogue from characters. Some of the screen is not being utilized, so it looks half assed. I sure hope you guys don’t mess up the other games coming out soon.

Great game but keeps crashing. Great game but keeps crashing at opera scene when Draco sings! Brutal can’t get past it

CONTROLLER SUPPORT !!!. How dumb it is of you to leave controller support out of this release. Simply shameful and continues your tone deaf history.

I wish there would be controller support. Love the game wish I could use my backbone or Xbox remote!

Among the Best RPG’s of all time. Final Fantasy III for SNES changed gaming forever for me. I can’t believe I can play it again on mobile. A truly welcome blast from the past. Thank you. :)

Lost save games. I’ve been losing my save files

Controller support already. Do it

Great remake but Needs extra content. I enjoyed playing through this game again been a lot of years since last played on the snes but I was hoping for the extra content added into other versions of the game, this is the original game with better graphics although it is good for the price I was expecting more A upgrade package would be nice, completely new content would be even better but if your looking to play old school ff3 snes you’ll be happy with this version

No controller support?. Spent all this time on a remake with no controller support and the on screen controls are terrible.

Needs controller support!. Please add basic features like controller support!!

Super happy'! Opera house workaround. Great refresher, same great story, better graphics without losing the retro memory. Ya… controls are a little clunky in joystick mode for world map but eh whatever still awesome. OPERA House Crashing workaround: Switch language to Japanese till after first scene, when it gives control of Locke then quick save, reload in English, all good! Although, preference for original 8bit singing :P

No controller support. Until they patch it with controller support, I will not change my 2 stars. This game alone is a 5 star but I would much rather play on a controller the way the game was originally made.

Great game, trash controls. Needs controller support, please add it !!

Good port. Good port of a great game but NO controller support on iOS? Touch controls are great on the go but when I’m home and want to play on The tv, it would be nice to be able to use a controller instead of looking at two screens . Please add controller support . Silly not to have it.

Fantastic. Game is awesome. However it tends to reset on iPhone if you put it in the background to open text messages etc. so make sure to save

Controls. One of the best games ever made hampered by terrible controls. Get rid of the stupid fixed joystick, the movement is so janky.

Love this game but. Everything is great until you reach the Opera House scene, and the game glitches and closes every time and you cannot progress. Don’t waste your money ☹️

The previous one had controller support. Great game. Loved it before and the previous version worked just fine. The updated graphics are neat BUT what happened to controller support? So many other games offer this so it doesn’t make sense to charge for this update whilst removing this WIDELY REQUESTED feature.

Love it, but….. The game keeps crashing during the opera as soon as Draco begins singing. Anyone else experiencing this? Also, controller support would be great.

Crashes repeatedly. The opera house crashes over and over on my ipad. I can emulate the snes version fine on the same ipad. I feel embarrassed to have paid for this since I can’t play it through.

Good, but embarrassing. Game needs to be brought to parity with the consoles releases… Fix the text, add controller support, add easy mode, and more quality of life. When I use cure spells why can’t I see party HP? You have so much space due to the tiny text, why can’t I see my min/max MP in combat? Too many missed opportunities here to fully recommend at this point. The mobile versions have seemingly been abandoned. Where’s Apple TV compatability?

Needs controller support. Come on guys this is embarrassing

Crashes. Every time during the opera scene the game crashes. I gave up and deleted the ap.

Amazing!. A few things are different, but it’s the same old game we used to play, my favourite of the series. I dunno why people are complaining about the controls…. worked just fine for me!

Not as good graphically and sound-wise as the original.. I give it 5 because it’s a good game no matter what. However this copy of the game is such a let down. How can you do this to such a good game? If you play the original (Final Fantasy 3) for Super Nintendo it does so much more than this remake it’s priceless. I would only play this version if I had to. They changed it quite a bit and making it more modern makes it feel like just another indie game, however, the original, in its entirety is a game like no other I’ve ever played. They really put everything they had to make ff3 and this makes it look like a few teens made it in their basement. It loses its magic through your remaster. I highly don’t recommend for first play-through.

Memory Lane. I loved this game when I was younger, so I was so excited to play this. I do find the monsters a bit too easy and I would really like all the Espers from all versions. I really love the Opera!!!

Great but still no controller support. Please add controller support

Opera Scene crashes app on ipad. Yup, Opera scene crashes, somehow i got past it once, but i’m trying play through it again. So when i reached the Opera scene the game crashes. It’s a terrible feeling. I just wish i kept a post Opera house save.

Add the moogle help in. The last version had the moogle to tell you where to go next. Now in this remake, I get lost since it’s not there.

Great game, desperately needs controller support. Bought this game thinking it had controller support, thing is I know it’s an amazing game but lack of controller support is holding me and many others back from playing it.

No controller Support. I love this game. But I can’t stand having my hand in the way of the screen. It would be great to be able to use my iPhone controller like I do with FFVII and Chronotrigger, but for some reason this game won’t allow it.

Controller support , pleeaassseee???. Please add control support. It would make the experience so much better.

Needs controller support badly. Great game overall but this and all FF pixel remasters NEED controller support. Touch screen controls (including the tap to go feature included) are a terrible way to relive these classics.

Needs controller support. It seems like a good game but the backbone controller doesn’t work and I hate touch screens controls. So I’ll shelve it to its compatible with the backbone controller.

Please Add Controller Support. One of my all-time favorite games, but lack of controller support makes it frustrating to play. I constantly bump into walls and have a hard time navigating narrow corridors. Please add controller support!

No Post-game content. BEWARE!! This pixel remaster does not include postgame content like the Kaiser Dragon, Gilgamesh Leviathan or Cactuar magicites, Dragon’s Den weapons, etc. You will be disappointed playing the whole game to realize it’s not completely updated.

Relive the masterpiece. 10/10 music is slammin’ and the touch screen controls work fine if you have normal human fingers.

Please add controller support. Love this game. Recently bought a backbone and wish the game could be played with it

Please add controller support. It’s a pixel remake, but I played this with a controller on Super Nintendo and on game boy. I even played it on PS1 just for fun, kind of like a joke. But they didn’t have touch controls. Would most likely change my rating when controller support added. I’m not mad. I’m just disappointed

Love the game but no sound. Such a fun classic I’m happy to have on the go! When connected to a Bluetooth speaker there is the in game music and sound effects but when just by itself no sound or music comes out of the phone 🤔

Needs controller support!. The widescreen format is a bit lost if your thumbs are all over the edges

No controller support. I wish I would have researched before buying. I’ll go to 5 stars if that is added.

No controller support. For a game that was originally designed to be played with a controller, there’s no excuse why they couldn’t at least add in controller support for this game. I’m glad they did optimize it for touch controls, but a physical controller should be an option as well.

No Controller Support???. Really guys? It’s 2023 and still not jumping on the accessories wagon? Why don’t you try caring about the end consumer for once and give us the option on how we enjoy your game. Seriously get with the program and give us access to use mobile accessories like…. CONTROLLERS. 😑

Dreadful Remaster. This remaster was terribly done. The sound effects are terrible. And the music remaster is an abomination. The additional graphics they mixed in clash with the main game art, making the original art look dreadfully dated. I had to stop playing. The game does not crash so 2 stars from me.

Remaster itself seems excellent but the lack of controller support needs to be addressed. Visuals seem great. Experience seems great. A lack of controller support for a game like this is not gonna cut it. It’s baked into the steam version sort of, so it’s attainable. Please add controller support ASAP.

No controller support makes it unfunny. I love this game. Favourite of all time. Updated music is amazing. But please for the love of all that is good, GIVE IT CONTROLLER SUPPORT. It’s awful to play on touch screen.

Controller Support Please!!!. One of my favorite games. I was very excited to play through again, until I realized that there is no controller support! Please bring in this feature!

Great but disappointed. Love the game but needs update for controler support

Great Game with one essential problem. Honestly it’s a great game but the only real problem I have is the movement controls. The touch controls don’t work so much for this, it really needs external controller support.

Bug?. Not able to progress pass the end of the opera house seen where celes throws the flowers. She walks to the end and I press the flower bottom in the bottom right corner and she doesn’t throw the flowers I have played it through like 20times and I cant seem to get her to finish the scene it just says oops I didn’t do what ever fast enough

Seriously still no controller support. Thanks for stealing my money with this crappy port. Seems like adding controller support wouldn’t be at all difficult and would make quite a few people happy. I am done with square enix.

No controller support. Don’t bother playing this game or any of the ‘updated’ final fantasy games. They don’t support any game controllers on iOS. I’m not going to play on a touch screen for hours and hours. Add controller support and I’d likely love this game. As it is, I tried, saw my ps5 dual sense controller do NOTHING and only touch screen works. I stopped the game and deleted it. Games that can should easily add game controller support. (Sigh)

Controller support badly needed. I was so excited to pick up this version because the last iOS release from years ago never had/got controller support. Totally disappointed to find out that this version STILL lacks controller support. Plus, Apple makes adding controller support so easy now that this is almost inexcusable for a AAA publisher like Square-Enix to leave out.

Needs controller (i.e. Backbone) support.. Game looks amazing and music is top notch, but the ability to use a game controller would be a step in the right direction. In all honesty shelling out $18 one would think controller support would already be available.

FF6. I can’t recommend this game. I understand it is considered one of the best games in FF series but the game has my character stuck and can’t advance for whatever reason. I have tried walkthroughs, multiple efforts but the game has a glitch. Do not buy this version.

Love this game!. Only thing I wish is that it allowed for controller support.

Crashes on boot, no controller support.. Was dismayed that it crashed the first few times I launched it. When I finally got in, I found that it still can’t work with a controller. Very disappointed.

Controller support. I really love all the final fantasy games can you please add controller support. This would be perfect!!!

Bro add controller support already!. What is the problem?! The Steam version of the exact same port had controller support at launch. I refuse to play this game with touch controls when the PREVIOUS VERSION YOU DE-LIST had controller support. I’m so mad I waste money on this, honestly wish I could get a refund.

Needs controller support. Please update this to allow controller support. The touch controls are not comfortable if you have a larger phone. The older expired 3D versions had game pad support, why not include support of these newer versions?

No controller support. One of my favorite games and I was excited to play on my iPhone but sadly it doesn’t have controller support. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t have it other than laziness. I played FF7 and FF9 with controllers on iPhone and it was great, far superior than touch controls. PLEASE add controller support!!

No gamepad support. I was unpleasantly surprised that the game cannot use a wireless gamepad controller. Their competitor Sega supports gamepads for all their games. Without physical keys it’s very hard to use combos.

Please add controller support. This is one of my all time favorite games, and I’ve eagerly looked forward to playing this new update. Love the music updates, sounds great. Just need Controller support added to make this a 5/5.

I’d say it’s just right now!. Thank you for the last round of fixes! This game is outstanding and everything I have come to expect from the pixel remaster series. Keep it up!

Pixelate the Text. The text should be pixelated like everything else. It is so small and hard to read right now. It’s very distracting to have to pull the phone so close to my face. Otherwise, I’m a fan.

Almost there. No controller support. The game looks beautiful but it has no support for controllers. I would love to see it have the same kind of support that the Chrono Trigger port got

No updates for broken app. Seems SquareEnix isn’t going to bother fixing the massive laundry list of the fundamentally broken things in this app. Sounds about right. That’s who they are and how they treat their players, but it’s a shame to see this legendary masterpiece created by real artists at Squaresoft get such a slapdash screwjob port by these lazy, greedy poseurs.

Terrible save file managment. If you have an iphone and an ipad, you cant start off on your iphone where you left off on your ipad. You have to have different save files for each machine. And when I try to get the iphone to synch to the cloud I always get a "synch failed" message. This game is a dishonor to square enix. The most sloppy worst done interface I have seen.

Great graphics, needs controller support. Lacks controller support that many other games have, including other Square Enix games like Chrono Trigger.

Classic. But…. No controller support really makes it hard to recommend picking this up on iOS.

No controller option at launch.. A lot of people bought this game/app with the idea that controller support would be included, like many other square titles on the IOS. What a shame to not have this at launch. Seems lazy. Please, for the love of god, ADD CONTROLLER SUPPORT.

Very frustrated by the controls on this one. Any time you swipe to another app it registers and click in the game and advances the dialog. I have missed so much story this way it’s become basically unplayable for me.

Please add controller support!. One of my favorite games of all time - was really hoping to be able to play it with the Backbone I just bought. Please add in some controller support - thank you!

No controller support? No thanks.. The game looks and sounds beautiful, but the lack of controller support is a glaring issue. Bad enough that it forced me to ask for a refund on a game I was very much looking forward to playing. You are better than this, Square.

Controller Support would be great!!. I like the mobile version but love the classic feel of a handheld controller. This app does not support the Backbone Companion App for my Backbone controller. Until then 3 stars. Live the game so much tho!

Random Freezing. Let me tell you, the freezing during random transitions gets really old after the 4th or 5th time.

Bugs and no cloud save. Hefty price tag for such a buggy game. Updates and still wonky. Plus cloud save isn’t working across devices. Will update review if fixed
