Worst log in system for a game I’ve ever seen.. Final fantasy 14 has the most needlessly convoluted log in of any video game ever made. If you ever have the misfortune of forgetting your password for the FFXIV launcher, say goodbye to getting it back. You need to log in to an account management system to change the password on the launcher, but to log in to the account management system you need to know your password and also have this SPECIFIC Authenticator, rather than using Google’s. Absolutely horrible.

So far so good. Entered my FFXIV credentials on a fake site but nothing happened to my account. I was saved by the app. Lost/Damaged my phone with the Token App. I used the emergency removal password (which was given after setting OTP) to disable the One-Time password. Then, I went and set OTP again from the very beginning. Was hassle free for the most part apart from figuring where I saved my emergency removal password.

Works fine on 7 Plus. This app isn't pretty or anything, but it works fine. As others have said, the accept button for terms of service is at the upper left corner. Just click the word "accept"...

Does it’s job well. All these people complaining. If you save all of your information separately, say in an email to yourself, then even when your phone is broken you have a way to bypass one time login. Honestly people need to develop better life habits. This app works flawlessly for what it’s intended to do and no changes are needed. In the rare event you don’t have access to some of the keys, customer service is available during business hours to help remove it. They have lives to, and this game does not require 24/7 support. Some of these people can stand to wait a day or two, pick up a book go outside, do something constructive.

iOS 13 works fine. I didn’t uninstall the app or remove it from my account. I just updated to iOS 13 and was still able to use the app and log in.

Ok. I wish they would just use Google Authenticator / Authy, it would be easier for the users and devs. I stopped playing FFXIV for awhile and when I decided to come back I opened the authenticator and it was like it forgot all my info so I had to go through using my removal password etc. Not a huge deal but it was an annoyance that could have been prevented by just using the industry standards already out there.

Still Faulty and Impossible. Despite the reviews, I also tried to set this up to use — not only is it cumbersome to set up because of the endless jumping, if the app breaks and resets for some reason after the fact, it is near impossible to log back into the system to fix it — you can only rely on emailing the support team to fix, and that’s not available of weekends as much people would need. It’s absolutely annoying, faulty, and aggravating to deal with, and they obviously haven’t fixed the system.

Works As Intended. The only thing I need to mention is how to accept the user agreement as the button to accept is NOT clearly identifiable. In order to accept the user agreement you need to click the [Accept] but that is only displayed as ‘text’ in the header on the far left side. I think they really need to make the button an actual button that stands out and looks like the typical button that all other apps use.

Works well!. Nice to have another layer of security for your account. Been using it for years and even switched phones during that time. Wasn’t too hard to change the token to the new phone. Just don’t be like other people here and write or save the emergency password somewhere else that is safe.

Apple Watch app?. Perfectly functional, needs an Apple Watch component. I often sit down to play then think, crap, gotta get my phone, wish this was on my watch!

The worst design ever. I’m having the same problem a lot of people are. I’m coming back to final fantasy after years away. I need a 1 time password to sign in, but I can’t get that password because it won’t let me log in without a 1 time password. I’ve been trying for 40 minutes to find some link or window to figure this out and nothing. Literally kept me from buying the final fantasy 14 game. This thing is broke. See ya square Enix, I probably won’t be buying anymore of your games.

It’s perfect.. It works great. Write down your emergency software removal token. I learned the hard way not to lose that thing but SE support was able to help me out and remove the 2FA for me when I messed up some technical stuff the one time. Human error is the most common cause for things to go wrong with any 2FA app. Aside from that, I’ve never had problems with this app not functioning as it should.

Does not work. I’ve been putting in all the right information and it’s actually trying to tell me otherwise. How do I know it’s the right info? Because I logged out of my square Enid account and logged back in with the same information this app is telling me I have wrong.

Square Enix is trash. It’s so bad. No logical thought was used at all in development of their systems and process. I just wanted to play final fantasy. Why I can just turn the game on and play I’ll never know. I have no problem signing up for a game or even paying additional charges but when you can’t log in on your PlayStation or smart device we have problems. Really bad, wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Square Enix is trash.

Wow lol. Downloaded FFXIV, looking all over for one time password, but can’t get to the password in order to get the one time password I. Order to register the game. After no luck I check here to troubleshoot and looks like there’s no answer. Requested a refund and uninstalled.

Works great!. If you read the instructions when you setup your one time password then this app works great. Just be sure to save your emergency removal password somewhere secure as you will need it if you change phones.

Does not work. No place to press the “agree” button. A quick Google search shows there are literally THOUSANDS who gave up and just didn’t try to play. They’ve lost hundreds of thousands in revenue due to this simple bug. Fix it.

Returning player troubles. Haven’t played in a few months and low and behold my ID and pass don’t work. No worries I will download the app. Download the app hit accept. Enter my stuff…..still doesn’t work…lame well the barriers to entry keep me from playing. Don’t have the old email the game is attached to so… ya guess I’m done?

Does what it needs to do. UPDATE: Now 5 stars since they updated it! Yay! And it still does exactly what it needs to do! Previous: ————— It does what it needs to do: Provide 2FA for your Square account. The design is dated (hasn’t been updated in 2 years), but it works well. Based upon the lack of updates, it would be cool to see them move to Authy. But I imagine they must be committed to this app because it’s a vital part of the Swuare account. All in all I don’t really have any complaints because it works! A design update would be welcome though.

Opt out?. This is the dumbest thing to be forced to go through so many things just to get into my own account. This should be an option to have a secondary password, not mandatory. Also the instructions could have been more clear. All i was trying to was play Final Fantasy. You would have thought I was applying for a government position.

Literally impossible to use. I’m trying to register a Final Fantasy 14 account. I’ve followed the other million steps required to play this stupid game but this is where that effort ends because to use this app you need to accept the user agreement... EXCEPT THERE IS NO AGREE BUTTON. I have no idea how they thought this was acceptable but because there isn’t a button that allows you to accept the user agreement it’s literally impossible to progress any further. I saw a few reviews saying you can do it on devices with different screen sizes but you can’t. I tried three different devices of different sizes and it doesn’t matter, the button isn’t simply off screen it doesn’t exist. So another stunning achievement from the company that made the single worst video game of all time; Final Fantasy 13.

Feature Request. Would love to see this app available on an Apple Watch. Follow the instructions associated with this app, an it’s flawless. No issues to report o7

Perfect. I don’t know what all the whining is about. This app is perfect for the simple thing that it is. And all you people who have problems figuring out how to agree to terms and conditions, open your eyes, it’s so blatantly obvious: tap on the word “Agree” in the top left-hand corner. I love this app because I no longer need to use that security token that I bought while playing Final Fantasy XII. The old Security Token is not backlit and needs a decent light source in order to read the numbers displayed on the tiny little screen. With the app, the screen is backlit and the numbers are larger and easier to read. I downloaded this app when it first came out but just got around to actually registering it about 2 to 3 weeks ago. I’m so glad I’m no longer using the key fob security token. I wish I had registered it when I first downloaded it and tossed out that key fob.

Accept terms. It took me a while to figure out, but the accept button is actually on the top left where it says Accept.

Love it. Yes, it can be frustrating if you delete the app, etc. but I’d rather be a little annoyed AND have my account secure. Thanks ;)

Brain dead circle-jerk. Activating this token was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made, I’m now just locked out of my account because that which is supposed to give me my one-time password is now asking for one that I cannot give, customer service doesn’t care enough to fix the issue and essentially expected to pay for the game and all the expansions again just to be able to play again, all my progress and time spent, the subscription fees I paid, meaning nothing, if you think even for a second that this token is a good idea, STOP, don’t throw away hundreds of dollars for a broken security feature

Despicable. I’ve never once run into this many problems trying to play a game. I’ve spent hours just trying to figure out how to freaking launch the game for the first time and there is so much back door crap that’s confusing as heck that you must do before you can even log on. Absolutely sickening and no excuse for it.

Simple, easy to install and does what it is says. I am not sure why there have have been all the bad reviews. It took me 2 minutes maximum to install this and best of all it works! There is an additional benefit besides security that they don’t mention: you get a free Atheryte destination. It is like having two home destinations and save you a lot of money on travel. I am sorry that many people don’t know how to install a simple program on a smart phone or tablet. If you are not sure the ask and FC mate before doing it.

Do not use. I took a break, came back after 3 months. The app will lock you out ask for one time password but you can’t access the part where you get one time password. It’s an elite rotation where you get screwed. You’ll see…

App randomly reset so I’m locked out. Token worked fine for over a year. Tried to log in today, opened app and it’s asking for registration info. I haven’t changed anything in my account, got no emails. App worked fine yesterday, I wake up and I’m now locked out The emergency removal I saved doesn’t work. Tried copy pasting and manually typing everything out

This system is an endless nightmare loop. I was a player years ago, trying to come back , check it out, paid for the expansions and now can’t log in, why? Because this is the most flawed security system I’ve ever dealt with. Can’t login without a one time password, can’t log in to get my one time password because I need a registration password. Can’t get a registration password without logging into my account with a one time password. Can’t reset my account without an emergency override password. Can’t get that without logging into some other account with a one time password. This is the most screwed up, backwards, use unfriendly system I’ve ever dealt with. This is an absolute joke and I feel like I’m being pranked. I don’t even want to play the game anymore since I’ve been trying for 3 days to do so and still can’t login. I was one hold for an hour and 47 minutes and hung up. I hate this app, I hate square Enid and I hate this game, and I haven’t even gotten to play it again. Bye.

Works just fine. I was a bit worried at first because of all the low ratings. I’m glad I chose to give this a try though. Works good. This app does what it’s supposed to do. I haven’t come across any problems at all, so I’m giving this a 5 star rating. :)

Incredibly flawed system. I lost access to my account thanks to this terrible system. I synced my account with this authenticator for the extra lodestone port, and eventually decided to take a break from the game and made the grave mistake of uninstalling the app. Now I can’t access my account and am unable to perform an emergency removal because I can’t access my emergency removal password due to not being able to access my account info in the first place… 🙃

Just needs a new method. All the Square Enix games are fantastic so get the wrong image if you're new to them and reading this review, but this app is just inconvenient... Every time you get a new phone or just delete the app (for whatever that may be) you will pretty much have to call customer support to have your one time password recovered or reset... Which is pretty funny as everytime I hear someone call customer support they always know exactly what it is people call for 😂

Works Well. App has all the functionality it needs for a one-time password app, and is fairly straightforward to set up. I was kinda worried after seeing the bad reviews, but after using the app I am pretty sure these people are just incredibly stupid.

“One time PW” Required on EVERY SINGLE LOGIN. Every time you open the game and not just the usual logging in from a new location etc etc, it’s effectively a second and mandatory password and it’s needlessly annoying and primitive, better option would be to implement the usual google auth

Stunned by conartistry. Heard a few friends were playing ffa so I wanted to give it a shot. I was stunned by the amount of hoops required to get started with this game. Not only to they force you to download this app in the name of “security” but the app, as many people have complained, makes it impossible to find the accept button. We all know they are just trying to steal and sell your data by downloading this app. Con-artistry 101. Not only did I not download the game, I quickly uninstalled the app.

Don’t worry!. This app is worth downloading but, This app does the job and works well. If you ever delete the app or lose the phone be sure to keep the emergency removal password. If you lose the password contact square and they will help! To find the removal key log into your account online and go into the one time password section and it’ll have the key for you in red.

Great Additional Security. The people who complain are usually the ones that didn't read the instructions for if/when you get a new phone and are using the software token. I just bought a new phone and had no problem at all using this app on it, mostly because I know how to listen.

Low reviews are just down to the end user.. When I changed phones, I followed directions and it worked just fine. Like, people can’t follow simple instructions.

Works as expected. Unsure if there were problems that lead to some of the earlier reviews saying this was a bad app, but I used this today, logged off and used it again without any issue.

Grateful for the app and support. Just use the app before you update it or your os and it should work fine hell I haven't had many problems with it at. All ps stop down voting this thing down for stupid reasons if you can't figure out how to use it call up their support, if you don't like the way it looks that is your opinion get over it, if it actually functions it's better than not having it at all, also if you keep your old phone you can remove the authenticator on your own or you can do it before you get your new phone it isn't hard to do at all I've done it before it's a breeze

Some people have no common sense.... The accept terms button is the accept button on the top left. Who cares if this app isn't scaled for the newer iPhones?? Its just a token app.

Agree button is in the top left!. Everyone complaining about not finding a mysterious “agree” button that is in the top left. This app works perfectly fine. From someone that has had a game account hacked and $100s worth of games stolen. These people take extra steps to ensure you can’t randomly setup or deactivate the security feature. Use your brain and figure it out. Not hard.

Horrible service!. Due to being away from FFXIV for years I can’t get my account back because of a one time password that I can’t access without a registration password which I no longer have and I don’t have an emergency password removal, customer support is horrible and I couldn’t send an email to them because the website isn’t working! If I could rate this in the negative I would.

You Don’t need this App. So obviously the idea of this app was not only terrible but poorly designed and not user friendly. With much better alternatives like the steam guard app for example for steam users. What you might not know however is you don’t actually need this app. I was digging through the hidden pages in the support page that suggested leaving it empty on the login screen. Tried that and it logged me in and put me right to the download page. Wish that would be more obvious but at least it’s a feature.

Works perfectly!. Great ease of access and makes me feel like my account is much safer. Just be sure to write down your emergency removal password (which is on your Square Enix account page), so that if anything happens to your device, you still have a way to get in.

Stuck in a loop. Went to login after awhile from being away from the game; couldn’t login without a one-time password, couldn’t get a one-time password without logging in. Had to make a new account and use the Google Authenticator instead.

Great for added security. Have been using it for years. Works fine. Make 100% sure you save the emergency removal password you get when setting up, in case your phone dies, is lost, or you change phones. You must use that emergency password to remove the app from your account before you can log in to your account without the app.

Sécuritaire mais chiant. J'ai malencontreusement desinstallé cette application lorsque j'ai pris une pause du jeu. Lorsque j'ai voulu recommencer à jouer, je ne me souvenais plus de mon mot de passe. Cependant, ça prend le code à usage unique pour réinitialiser son mot de passe ET en prime ca prend le mot de passe lorsque tu réinstalle cette application. Alors je n'ai aucunement accès au jeu pour le moment. Il faut absolument que je contacte l'assistance clientèle durant les heures de bureau. Très chiant tout ca...

Weak Code. I had to backup and restore my phone and this is the only App that lost its marbles which leaves me locked out of my account. This token also forces you to enter it every single time you want to log in. For some reason your computer doesn't get remembered. Devs please look at the Blizzard Authenticator to see how this should work

Perhaps more of a risk then a benefit.. This app does not support backing up to iCloud. Therefore if your phone gets erased the app and it’s data are gone. The only way to recovery is with an emergency recovery code that apparently doesn’t always work.

Why no iCloud sync and iPhone XS UI redesign?. This app sorely needs basic functionality such as iCloud sync or syncing with Dropbox or google drive so when you get a new device or forgot to backup you don’t lose your 2FA login. Also the user interface needs to support new phones like iPhone XS, when will this app be updated!!??

You serious?. Too many steps, not enough directions. Use the Authenticator instead of this thing

if you’re stuck in the authentication loop. to log into your se account on here since it needs your registration code or whatever on the third line, there’s a next button that took me way tooooo long to find under the prompt it gives for you to download this app (should be an orange next button). click that, and it’ll send the code you need to log into THIS to your email, which will then let you get the one time pass to log into the client? so tiring but it’s doable! hope this is able to help a bit!

Great. It's about time a software application came out. It's so much more convenient than buying a security token and then you have to worry about it possibly breaking or running out of battery. And for free, you can't go wrong. A little extra security never hurts. Bravo Square Enix.

Unable to accept EULA. There’s a long EULA to scroll through, but no accept button. This app is buggy.

App is horrible. Stuck in a loop, wants my code to login online. But it wants a code from online to login in the app to get the code, to simply login online. This app offers no options other than filling out that page, no back button, nada.

Stupid account recovery. Creating a free trial for ff14 is the worse process ever. Tried 3 times and emailed…Customer care sucked. Can’t believe you guys can’t setup a working platform .

Glitches. My app worked fine for about 2 weeks and then glitched. You can’t remove the token without the emergency password, and they take forever to respond.

Can’t complete. The app requires accepting the user agreement yet there is no button to click to accept. Seems like a simple thing to ensure is on the app, yet it just isn’t there. Useless.

They made playing a game extremely difficult.. Absolute dogsh** system. Why is logging into a game I just purchased harder than college level calculus?

Maybe it works. I wouldn’t know. Square has somehow made some kind of recursive system where you need your password to change your password.

Can’t get past privacy agreement. So I download the app. Big long privacy agreement. And there is no where to except. I have now downloaded the app twice. And I can’t get past the privacy agreement because there is nowhere to except or get past it. Big fail.

Links to a single install on a single device. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! I installed this on my iPad two days ago. Left my iPad at work and used my iPhone. Entered in the security key. Same Apple ID. Blizzard works across Apple IDs. There is a single point of failure. You can make your own choice. Square Enix: link the authenticator to the Apple ID on MacOS.

Can't Setup. Unable to accept license agreement on iPhone 6S+. Completely unable to setup and use. Why even bother with releasing an app if you don't have QA? Expect better from a big company like square. Shame on you.

Cant install. Spent 20 mins registering for accounts and trying to download this app for a key to log into the game. No way to get this installed not gonna bother trying to log into the game to give it a go.

UI/UX is awful. So it took me forever to realize that the accept button is in the upper left on an iPhone XS. It doesn’t stand out in any way and in fact appears to be part of the title of the page.

We need notification system when we log in.. And a Watch app. So outdated In comparison to other Authenticators. Not to mention FFXIV is general is outdated.

Wish they’d just switch to standard 2FA. Just use google authentication type 2FA there are too many problems with this sort of implementation especially when the app is just not developed well

Broken mess. Worked once, and now I’m completely locked out of the game. Customer support is non-existent.

Stupid verification system. This entire one-time password thing is, by far, the dumbest thing I’ve had to use to log into a game. Incredibly difficult too. Why did I even waste my time?

Useless App. I cannot even accept the terms of service because the devs didn't even make the screen the right size so everything can be viewed and/or clicked on.

Use Googe Auth. Why do I need to manage a token app for each game? Use the industry standard and save your devs time. Waste of an app and an overcomplicated registration process with what feels like ten different domains.

Crap. Worst Authenticator app ever. I work in tech and build these and know how they should work. This does not work like it should. They just be using some garbage platform like oracle. It’s awful. This is the WORST app I’ve ever used.

This is a terrible idea. I was forcibly ans randonly logged out of my OTP. When I try logging back in, it tells me my time to enter registration password has expired. I did not change my phone, nor did I log out of my OTP. DO NOT USE THIS FEATURE.

Can’t get past user agreement. Just downloaded this on my iPhone and all I get is the user agreement without any obvious way to move past it and enter my 1 the password to link it to my account.

No iCloud save?. Don’t bother backing it up to the iCloud as it’ll reset itself anyway. Now to wait forever for customer service to remove this thing from my account.

Nightmare. Why is setting up an account so complicated? Quit the game before even starting it should never be this difficult to make an account 🤦‍♂️. Save yourself some trouble and just don’t try.

Does not work. Nothing else to say. It requires a password from a web page that requires a token from this app. Secure is right. Nobody can access anything.

Needs work, push authentication please. Just a few suggestions seems very easy for people to get locked out of their accounts if not careful. Push authentication would be a useful update. Maybe linking to user SQEX acct.

Can’t accept terms. App hasn’t been updated in 2 years and they didn’t make their UI scalable... can’t accept terms due to the button not being visible on screen. Would really like to secure my ff14 account without having to buy the physical token generator.

holy this is impossible to use. i cant play the game i payed for because it keeps telling me to get a one time password i cant get from the website itself, and i keep looping around and around and around, they really need to work on this

Complete garbage!!. I wasted $60 to return to this game and could never get logged in because this garbage app does not recognize my log in info! How on earth does anybody put up with the trash app? See ya Square Enix…for good this time!

No agreement button. You have to read this long terms of service document, but after there is no way to agree to it so you can’t log into the token. Kind of makes it difficult to sign in.

Set up. Trying to add my account, but it keeps telling me that my id, birthday and password are wrong. Like how?!? I can log into the website just fine but not the stupid app?

Very Annoying. I can’t even get an email or anything to get my Emergency Password or my One-Time Password at all! Not worth it in the slightest.

Doesn’t work on new iphones. The agree button is off screen making it impossible to use on iPhone X, XR, XS, etc
