Desperately needs controller support!. I know that I am way too excited to play a 16+ year old game, but I loaded it up on my iPad and was disappointed in the lack of controller support. It’s a great game, but this seems like a no brainer. The touch controls are well done and better implemented than most ports of older games, but the ability to play on a controller would be nice.

Great mobile port of a great game. (Single-player review) The game controls very well, in some cases better than on console, albeit needing some precision while picking up items. Load times are quick and graphics are fantastic. The full game costs $25US, almost the price of console versions. This is a remaster known for its disappointing multiplayer. I personally have no problems with it, but I know I'm in the minority. You may want to do more reading before you commit. Luckily, it's free to start.

Love it!. This game brings back fond memories of the original version for the Nintendo Game Cube! Just started playing and not disappointed. Already love it! Have a great day. If you need me I will be playing this game!

No controller support in 2020 seems a pretty big oversight.. The game performs well on the 2018 iPad Pro, and of course the original game is one of the all time greats. But not including controller support in a game like this is pretty rough. MFi controllers have been around forever, and in 13+ we’ve had PS4 and XBOX controllers natively supported. I’m very surprised that Square opted to do the clunky onscreen touch controls (that have never been great, let’s not kid ourselves) as the only option. Especially considering that this game came from consoles, and is releasing on Switch/PS4 as well. Seems like you went out of you way to NOT have controller support here, which is baffling. So even a game as great as Crystal Chronicles can’t be a strong recommendation in this state. It’s a solid 5/5 with controller support, but for now it’s a 3. Sorry. I love the game itself and Square’s mobile offerings have always been solid. But in 2020 a lack of controller support on any game that would greatly benefit from it has to be called out, especially on iPad which is more and more a laptop form factor for a lot of folks.

Was excited, not anymore. The whole point of the game is to play with friends easily now that we all have phones. I bought 4 gameboy SP back in the day and the link cable to play this great game with my friends. When news was this is coming to phones I was thinking “it will be so much easier now because we are all connected anyway.” This is not the FFCC from before. Online play is literally join and dump players each time. You can’t progress your town together, watch each family grow as the different players send materials home. None of that is in this game.

Great value. I never played the original and I can tell some key coop functionality is missing: HOWEVER, for the low price of $25 I have a really solid simple dungeon crawler on my phone with a good final fantasy story and world. No pay to win micro transaction, no scummy practices, just a game. I am playing through it with others on consoles who haven’t payed at all but get to tag along with me because I own the full game. This should be commended, they didn’t have to give out free versions but they did and I am enjoying it. It’s not perfect but it’s better than most of what’s on mobile.

Love this game.. I have never touched multiplayer and I am still not interested in it here. But as a solo experience this is just as fun as the original with the benefit of taking it with me to town. Attack timing is exactly as I remember it. The new voice acting works with the characters. New models and textures look great. The only two downsides for me is the option to not pick up the chalice by simply attacking near it and the re-record of the English intro song. An option for the original song would be nice. Her change in tone is quite jarring for someone that is so used to the first one. The pickup problem could be solved by either letting us pick it up by attacking near it, or adding a dedicated ‘select’ button near our right thumb.

We don’t really play together. Unlike the original FFCC, players do not progress the story or towns together, nor do we see each other outside of dungeons. The big draw of the original was being able to have the whole game be co-op. It feels lonely and the multiplayer is clunky and you spend so much time in menus to play with friends, it’s honestly a shame. Not to mention the connectivity issues my friends and I experienced the whole time. It’s not fun to be kicked out due to a long cutscene and your iPhone goes to sleep. I lost all my progress in a level this way. Being in “time out” when you are trying to fix your group is awful as well. I’m giving one star to at least say that single player works. Multiplayer? Hard pass.

Please add support to backbone. I really love this game I used to play it when it first came out on the GameCube being a fan of this game I have bought it on my PS5 and on my iPhone so I can play on the go. I just recently bought a backbone to play my mobile games more comfortably but Final fantasy crystal chronicles isn’t supported as an update please add backbone support.

Major glitches with add on content and data transfer. Appears to have some glitches. 1) When clicking the “Add-On Content” button on the bottom right of the start screen I get and error message “Unable to Retrieve Product List”. 2) When attempting to use the transfer feature, the game data uploads fine from my iPhone but I am unable to transfer it to my iPad due to the message stating that transfer feature is only available on the full game. However, I cannot seem find the “full game” in the App Store and the Add-On Content continue to be unavailable so if the full game is served up via the Add-On Content I currently have no way to purchase it. I’ll update my rating to 5-stars once these major bugs are fixed.

Needs controller support and new Netcode!!!. I would purchase the game if it supported controllers. After 20 minutes, I won’t even play anymore. The touch controls and menus are awful. Ridiculous when there is a console release at the same time and they scrap the controller support out of the mobile release. Online is laggy, only host gets credit, must disconnect from entire party to change hosts. You can’t trade with party members and end up with loot you can’t use or don’t want. DLC is P2W easy mode. Edit: took 75 days for the second update. Still NO controller support when there is a console version. Loot drops are a disaster, you end up with items you can’t use and you can’t trade loot with people. Avoid purchasing.

This is 2020 stop complaining !. This game is exactly what we should be expecting in 2020 not what we were playing on GameCubes with Game Boy Advance systems. Couch co op isn't really a thing anymore. Move on with the times and if you don't like it, don't play it. Stop complaining.

Square ruins what used to be amazing multiplayer.. In the original game you got to make a town of friends to go on an adventure with seamlessly, traveling together. Square thought this game play was just "too good", so they completely destroyed the multiplayer by making it a cheap 1 player game where you invite a friend to play when starting a dungeon, then it disbands after. It's complete garbage now! I have no idea how involved with this can be proud of their garbage work on it

Adequate but could be the best. When I first read that this game was being ported to IOS I was so elated. I’ve spent months and months playing this game with my childhood best friends. It means a lot to me that Square Enix would bring this game to this platform. That being said this port needs just a little more work and I think that it would be one of the best games on the IOS library. It needs local play, and it NEEDS controller support for multiple players to be able to play on one IPad. With these two things I think you could have a real winner here. When these are done it’s an automatic 5 star for me. Thank you Square.

No controller compatibility. I played this game originally and loved it. I’ve been so excited for months to play this game and that it was available on iOS.. I’m disabled and haven’t been able to afford the new consoles because of medical bills. This game was originally designed for a GameCube controller so I figured of course I’d be able to use a controller with it. Only to find out it’s impossible and the controls on the touchscreen are so horrible and have me so far behind my roommate on PS4 that it’s nearly unplayable. Even the rotating menus are a pain as you can’t swipe them you have to emulate a controller for them. The opposite of intuitive and as a long time final fantasty fan(played every game since the original on nes) and avid player of Xiv I expected more from square. Very disappointed. Don’t waste money on this. Not worth it unless they add controller usage.

Whats with all the negativity?. If you look online for reviews everone hates this remastered edition. I think its still pretty good. Its a little rough to play on touch screen yes but its not the worst thing ever. The best part is if you buy it on the Switch you can trasfer your save game back and fourth between different consoles and the app on your phone. The matchmaker is also pretty good also, finding friends can be weird, but my friend and I figured it out pretty quick. All in all I am having fun playing this game and I’m sure there will be updates in the future for improvments.

Cool but.... The controls aren’t that bad BUT the whole lobby thing is annoying. The fact that we have to dissolve the party once we pass a boss and then create a whole new lobby to play the next stage is ANNOYING. Why can’t they just make it that once you create a party you can continue playing with them even after a boss.

Controller support. I want to relive my childhood and I want to do that while playing on a controller stick, I have yet to fill engaged as I once did as a kid like I want to. Other than that you’ve done mostly everything else right.

Did they spend all their time tying an anchor to this albatross?. 3 GB download to be forced to watch a half hour unskippable intro? Splash screen that struggles with exactly zero functionality? Did anyone at Square Enix ever load this? This is awful. This is literally the worst beginning of any app I’ve downloaded, ever. And did NO ONE, not a single person on that half hour long credit reel, stand up and think, “if I introduce this to a friend, and I’m going to sit here and waste my visit with them waiting for them to sit through this awful video and then go home, having wasted all our time together without any playing and THAT will be how we remember FFCCRE.”? Why do I need to sit through this half hour list of names of who made the game? So I remember who to Google and never buy anything they’re involved with in the future because WOW did they think at all about anyone wanting to PLAY the game? And the interface is so clunky you would have to think it’s some high school kid’s JAVA interpreter running inside a Minecraft red stone computer.

No fun. The game is very redundant in the way you need to just avoid an attack and counter attack to kill everything and the controls are horrible. The game is very boring doing the same dungeons over and over so you can get enough stats when you get stuck on a level because the enemies are too strong. Final fantasy crystal chronicles rings of fate was so good when it came out for DS and I was expecting this remaster to be similar to that. Don’t waste your money on this trash

Absolutely Brilliant Port. Very well done and looks very polished for a mobile game as it is a solid console game. Amazing to see remastered GameCube games on IOS. I would love to see controller support in the near future!

Fun but might be inhibited by touch controls. I never owned a GameCube so I never got to play this game when I heard great things about it. The first thing I noticed is the top and bottom bars that take up a chunk of the screen. I wish they’d optimized this so the whole screen is used. Being an FF fan I’m used to and enjoy the story in the games and was surprised to find little story to interact with. Especially with your character being a custom made silent type protagonist. That said, the gameplay is quite fun and I hope I get to find people to play multiplayer with since that looks to be the best way to play this. The touch controls work against the combat mechanics, however. I think with a controller it was easier but having to swipe a tiny portion of the screen to switch commands is a real pain. I’m sure that if they update the game to have controller support this will not be an issue for me. Until then, I might wait to continue playing as I’m not interested in battling the touch controls. I feel that it would make me dislike the game if I continue playing it this way so I’ll wait for controller support if it happens. tl;dr Story is lacking but presentation and art direction are great and fun gameplay even though it’s limited by touch controls.

disappointed. this game growing up was a all time favorite, a big aspect was to be able to play with my friends. This games multiplayer functions is what is really holding this game back from its shine. Make it to where the players can go to the same town as each other and just to move as one party. This gets fixed it will be a 5 star

It’s pretty good. It runs smoothly on my phone, but it’s a tad bit unfortunate that it’s region locked. I live in Korea, and have been here for about a year. I can’t play with my friends back home (in the US) which was the main reason why I got the game on switch/iOS. Also, there is no local co-op; it’s all done on this clunky online system. It’s still a good game, because it feeds my nostalgia, but they could/should have done so much better. Hopefully they’ll do a lot of updates... lol

Best RPG Game available on Mobile. Period.. So, for anyone unaware this game was originally released on the GameCube back in 03’. Don’t let that stop you, compared to EVERY other RPG game even the free version will have more content. The multiplayer is probably the most seamless integrated multiplayer you’d get for an RPG on mobile. There is no turns or “dice rolls”. You can actually run around in the combat areas and bosses/hard dungeons can be a real challenge. Equipment and the storyline are pretty simple, for anyone who’s never played a Final Fantasy game before. Your objective, typically is to save the world. For free this game is a steal, on the PlayStation 4 it costs $30 and many people pay to own it. True classic albeit not the typical Final Fantasy gameplay, if you’ve never played one of the games this would be a fun introduction.

Needs work. Having a great time with my friends but the whole online menu system is a nightmare, a party system where you play the game together would be much better than having to re-team up for every single individual dungeon

Just needs controller support. I loved the original, and I have been playing the remaster nonstop. The multiplayer is made for cross play and online play, so the concessions make sense, and it’s still a lot of fun. I would love iOS controller support.

More disappointment in a time of disappointment. When I heard this game was getting remastered I was so excited I’ve been talking about it none stop since the original announcement and was sad to hear it get pushed back but was still optimistic to get to be able to enjoy this Game Cube classic in 2020 then Covid hit and I was like OH BOY what a time to get Crystal Chronicles remastered!!! But sadly this game is not what I expected or dreamed of... 1. The multiplayer aspect of the game is just laughable only the person who’s hosting gets to progress while everyone else in the party is just there for the ride so hypothetically if u were playing with 3 friends you’d have to redo a dungeon 3x for everyone to get the myrrh. 2. LOAD TIMES just just come one man the load times are worse now than on the GC 3. The DLC weapons are as strong as the best weapons in the base game so if u get them you just breeze through the whole thing. 4. The skins you gotta be kidding me all the skins are almost the same price as the game AND WHY IS THERE NO SKINS FOR LILTYS?! 5. The end game dungeons are on a rotation based on REAL TIME so you can’t just hop into the one you want to do with your buds whenever. Okay well that’s my disappointing experience with the game hopefully it gets updated and they fix the problems...

Just missing controller support. This game runs pretty well, especially on the high-resolution iPad Pro. The only thing missing is support for either the Xbox or PS4 controllers; which is especially important for tablets since it’s unwieldy to use touch controls there.

Reconnect to server. Everything about this game of course needs to be upgraded since it’s their first time launching this game. But please do fix the connection of the game it takes too long to get back into the server if we accidentally touch anything such as pulling up the time or notification screen or your phone tells your percentage battery etc..... Will really appreciate it very much about upgrading the reconnection issue.

This is really bad.. This was a favorite game of mine from my childhood. The fact that the GameCube version of this game is better is really embarrassing for SE. putting aside that this game is expensive for a mobile game (I also played on Switch) and that they put micro Trx in there... the game is buggy. The gameplay is bad. Region locked online. No couch coop. Apparently you can’t even use two devices on the same network... so if your friend downloads the game on their Switch or phone they can play with you on the same WiFi. Also the lack of rewards for playing online makes it so no one will want to play online. This is a really bad launch.

Even better than I remembered - AMAZING for couples. I had this game for GameCube way back in the day- and not once did I ever play multiplayer. Fast forward to 2020, me and my boyfriend beating over 9 games and getting open world fatigue and a upset at the horrible lack of couch co op games to play together- and then I see this. And without ever having played multiplayer I bought it immediately and convinced him to do it too. Let me tell you- we’ve been having SO MUCH FUN. This is what I miss from the 90’s and early 2000’s, sitting together and playing a game, the trash talk, the excited screaming when we beat a boss- it’s amazing- don’t even hesitate.

Definitely needs some work. I played this game with my siblings as a kid and I’m honestly disappointed in this remaster. I have no problem with the fact that you can’t connect controllers, and the controls on this game are honestly fine and it runs smoothly most of the time. It’s the lack of local play—and this goes for the PS4 version as well. In the original, you and your friends were in a caravan together. It wasn’t like matchmaking only at the dungeon; you got to play with your friends uninterrupted. All of you were able to get myrrh, not just the host. As a caravan, you would travel together and go into towns together. It would be much better for there to be a team leader who decides where everyone goes. The matchmaking is fine to an extent, but the classic local play was an incredible experience that matchmaking will never be. As for the new features, I do like the new character options (except for the new female Selkie and new male Clavat, but that’s just personal preference) and add-ons to the diary section. The design of the menus has also been greatly improved. Apparently there are new dungeon features, too, but I haven’t seen any so far. As it is now, the full version of this game has no business being $24. There are a lot of improvements that could be made.

Huge Disappointment - Remake is worse than the original. I was so excited for this game to came out. I played it with my siblings on GC and we even bought multiple link cables to be able to play coop. I was excited to hear that this one offered coop (without the need of multiple gameboys and link cables) but it turns out they cut it for “some reasons” in favor of online multiplayer... The online multiplayer in this is ONLY for dungeons. There is no shared home village, you cannot explore the villages together, or trade materials b/w players, everything is solo now. You cant even progress through the dungeons together because ONLY THE HOST PLAYER SAVES ANY PROGRESS. So if you are playing with a group of ppl, you'd have to do the dungeon once with each player hosting... Needless to say with all of my favorite features being cut I will not be purchasing this game and instead play the original.

No controller support? For real?. Seriously, you remake this game for the ps4 and switch at the same time as iPadOS and you don’t add controller support? Embarrassing. It dropped on my bday, I remember getting it fo my bday a few months after the original came out, i was looking forward to reliving a bit of my childhood and was so disappointed. This game could be easily fixed even if they don’t add controller support by adding dedicated buttons on screen for interact/item pickup, attack, and defend. They can leave the flipping between spells and attack as it adds a decent amount of difficulty to the game, but reaching across a 13 inch iPad to pick up an item is a nightmare. Multiplayer is annoying too, if someone FaceTimes me I get booted from the game, you cant venture through the game together like the old one and progress side by side, you just spend time in menus... waiting. Seriously, small tweaks could save this game.

Not worth it. There are free games more exciting than this one. First off they cannot resize the game for tablet so it has borders on the top and bottom that in total take up 1/3 your screen! The they want to charge you 25$ for the full version? There are plenty of free games with better gameplay and much better controls! And I bet this game would get a better rating and bee more playable with a controller, so you can attack/cast spells/move without going to a menu or that stupid flip option that you have to pay attention to while you are getting killed by enemies. Overall there are much better games that have more rational devs/money grubers.

Great game, but needs controller support. I loved this game in the Gamecube era, but it was so hard to find friends to play with who also had a GBA and a link cable. Making the game playable with friends online is a revelation, and even better with crossplay. Having full teams of 4 players is the game the way it was meant to be played. I would make it 5 stars except for the inexplicable lack of controller support. The touch screen controls work pretty well, since it’s not a particularly precise game, but why not add the option, especially when there are console versions of the game?

Nostalgia, but... They couldn’t figure out how to connect friends in the same Tipa village online. I’m actually amazed that they can’t/won’t allow people to join a single Tipa. If you never played the original, you may not realize yet how bad that inhibits progress for everyone. It’s fine as single player, but it’s a tragedy for coop. I’ll wait for an update to change my review. I have the full version on switch. SQEnix, please update it! I would have paid $60 for that good online connection in the same village.

Why is it listed free. I love how the game is free to download and they casually throw in you have to buy the full version for 25 dollars, that’s kinda annoying but it’s still as amazing as I remember when I was young

No Controls = Limited Skill. When I saw that this game as the same one I remembered playing on GameCube I was excited to give it a try. I even bought a kishi razor so I could play it with a controller so I can have a similar experience. Sadly… I found out it doesn’t support controllers at all. Now don’t get me wrong, I won’t dis a game just because it doesn’t support controllers. However sadly when the touch screen controls are so unintuitive, it makes the experience very lackluster and frustrating in more difficult levels. You won’t be able to block or switch to spells fluidly during fights like you could with controller because they decided to make you slide to switch instead of just pressing a “next” option. This all just limits crazy things you can pull off and sadly I would say just play it if you are fine dodging and W+M1 swinging. However don’t think your going to be able to use crazy skills in succession with the controls as they currently are.

A (classic) diamond in the rough.. Listen, this game isn’t perfect. It’s such a treasure of gaming however. I do miss the days of running through the entire experience with my pals at my side. But for a $30 update to 17yr old game your game your getting a great experience here. The improved graphics and voice work add so much to this already lovely game. The online is seamless and cross-play works like a dream. Once you get past the simplistic introduction hours of the game you’ll find a fairly deep experience with hours of replay-ability. This game is largely about memories and shared experiences, I myself have many fond memories of this game and I’m excited to make more!

A great remake. I used to love gathering around the Gamecube playing Crystal Chronicles with my friends and siblings. While this remake doesn’t really capture the entire ceiling of the old game, it’s so much closer than any of the sequels were that I forgive it. I think this remake was very nicely done is that it is both beautifully done and smoothly done. I look forward to seeing and where it goes from here. I do agree that it would’ve been nice to be able to host an entire caravan instead of being forced to play the game through single player. That said, the multiplayer experience is still enjoyable, and I enjoy the drop in maps. I played for hours at launch while I should’ve probably been doing other things. This is a great game, and I hope that really takes off.

Control is horrible and not full co-op. Scroll left or right to switch attack, defend or spell is bad ideal. It is slow. Have a way that customize where we want the button to attack, defend and spell or more slot. Attack button when you near object it change to pickup/talk. You touch on the button it will pickup/talk to npc. I go to my village not able to see friends. Another bad idea to, why not keep everything the same like GameCube and just add multiplayer online. Remastered still offer co-op but this time it’s centered a round online connections and so couch co-op is foolishly excluded this means you can’t make caravan trips with friends. You can only play dungeons with them. It makes more like you just solo what the point of multiplayer when everything is not connected to each other. Need to add feature friends to join family trade and able to trade with friends items also dungeons everyone get credits Myrrh. Selling point of the game was same village, trade item and go together multiplayer without this I wouldn’t recommended anyone to buy this game at all. It is opposite of the original game.

Nostalgia in my hands but it needs controller support. It’s so awesome that any time I want I can play my favorite game of the past 20 years. The touchscreen controls are actually good to use and are intuitive. But, this game needs controller support to make it more fun. When I’m lounging on the couch I like to hookup my Backbone controller to my iPhone 14 pro max Sadly this is one of the only games I have installed that don’t use controllers. Please add controller support. Thank you for reading.

Xbox one/ps4 controller support please!. Its a great game overall, but considering it is on the ps4 you would think controller support for both the xbox one and ps4 would be added right from the start. Its a needed feature

Boring. Geeze, you would think that Square Enix doesn’t have any competition in the world. I loved this game when it was on the Nintendo gamecube, but man has this aged poorly. It felt like it took almost 20minutes to do anything remotely feeling like gameplay. I eventually just deleted this. Really TOO slow paced when competing for attention against the thousands of other games. Not your best, SE.

MULTIPLAYER. Producers of FFCC. Please know that the low rating is not because of any other reason then not being able to have the multiplayer experience we had on the GameCube, and to be able to save the game with the same people and progress in the game together. THAT IS IT. This game is a master piece, but whoever thought it was a good idea not to be able to progress in the game as a 4 player team is a moron. Please fix this and the ratings will go up I ASSURE YOU!!!

Messes up FFCC’s best feature: Local Multiplayer. Let’s be honest: The original FFCC was not a good game as far as FF titles go. The combat was slow and repetitive, the leveling (or artifact progression) was painfully grindy, and the narrative was practically non-existent. What FFCC did have, however, was true, local multiplayer integrated into the campaign from start to finish, and that just isn’t here. If Square Enix would patch in the REAL shared campaign multiplayer - the one that kept me and my friends yelling at the TV for hours - I’d happily bump my review to 5 stars and would probably end up buying the full game. Without it, however, this remake just highlights how shallow the original game was without friends and just isn’t worth the time or money.

Return of a Classic. The original version of this game stands out I’m my memory as my all time favorite couch co-op game! I am super excited that they remastered this game with cross platform play across multiple systems. There is an in-app purchase to unlock the full game but even with the lite version you can play the majority of the game as long as you are playing with someone who has purchased the main version. Anyways I highly recommend this game, especially if you have a group of people to game with 👍

A GameCube classic Remastered. As a teen I never had the opportunity to fully enjoy this title because it required so much extra hardware ( GBA per player ). Now that is incredibly accessible and cross platform from IOS, Switch, and PS4 I can truly enjoy it. Controls great on IPhone XS! It was initially a two button game anyways, so controls are very simple and intuitive on iPhone. It plays like a Diablo/ Secret of Mana/ Final Fantasy hybrid. I’m enjoying it so far!

Great! But.... Controls needs improvement for mobile

Awful loading times iPad Pro. Loading times are long voice overs are so wrong

Australian Servers not working. At the time of writing the Australian servers are messed up and my wife and I have been unable to play together for longer than 20 seconds without being kicked. Please fix your servers so I can encourage my friends to buy this, other I cannot in good faith.

Incredibly disappointed. After two hours of trying to host, join or otherwise play this game with another person, connections timed out within a minute of a dungeon starting every single time. For a game that has multiplayer as a selling point, it doesn’t even get the basics right of being able to start a game with a friend. Even when hosting from my PS4 with the fully paid game, there were constant drop outs. Square box should be ashamed of themselves for this atrocious lobby design and terrible multiplayer experience - I had been really looking forward to this game and it’s really bummed me out how poor the execution of this remaster is.

Please fix the online connection. As the title please fix the online connection time out. Overall a good game, was really getting excited to play story but for the most part more of online just to get timed out every 50 secs or so!!

Sound doesnt work. Tried redownloading and restarting iphone but sound just doesnt work

Game play. Too hard to play Character not strong enough at start Can’t get past first level

Great looking remaster lacking controller support. I loved the original version of this game and was excited to see the remaster! However I had hoped to play multiplayer with the console version in our house so I’m on mobile. I knew iOS had good controller support these days and was disappointed when it didn’t work. I hope that change is made as it greatly affects my view of this port. Otherwise the game looks like I remember, that is to say it looks a lot better than the original did and I hope to play it on some platform with friends soon.

Useless on mobile.. Not even worth the play on mobile, controls are clunky and hard to use efficiently. Just add CONTROLLER SUPPORT, come on why waste everyone’s time?

Great remaster with a multiplayer problem. This game is great (on switch and I’m getting used to the controls on mobile) and is mostly a perfect remaster for single player (except for painting Mog cause I’m confused on if he has a higher chance of casting a spell if he’s painted fully or it’s guaranteed) but multiplayer shouldn’t be region locked at all (others complain about progress not being saved but that’s perfectly normal considering they could be on year 2+ without purchasing the game) And with the choice for mobile being on American or European server for a one and only choice bothers me. Please unlock online multiplayer for everyone because that’s what the original Crystal chronicles was made for: playing with your friends.

trash. trash good luck killing anything after year 5

A game about memories. Is unfortunately going to remain a memory. As a price point, I think $40 is a bit much for a game from 2003. It’s disappointing that the remaster made the basic features of the game worse. Picking up items feels awful, especially since magic can roll around. Moving around the map with touch controls feels bad as well. I still love the game, and wish I could recommend this to my friends. But for the price and the lack of polish in the touch controls I never could.

Niceee. Pretty fun to play with friends I recommend

Make it full game. Please

It’s fine. The free version is way too short, the controls are crappy and the multiplayer is barely playable. Everytime I enter multiplayer, it gets all laggy and I get thrown out because of it. My internet connection is excellent and so is my phone.

I use to love this game. Back in high school I would play this game for hours with my friends I was excited to see a remake so I could show my kids. When I revised that I would have to by four copies of the game through the In game unlock I was crushed. It does not work with family share so for each family member it will have to be paid for additionally.

Fantastic! But Needs Controller Support!. One of my favorites from the GameCube days - and it holds up really well. It’s a solid, well made product with a few downsides fixed for the remaster. I’m ecstatic just to play this game again with multiplayer. The key gameplay has a simplicity and cooperative experience that I haven’t found in any game since Crystal Chronicles. Outside of the direct dungeon gameplay, there’s actually a lot of content for those of us who like to collect or complete everything in the game. Its not without some flaws though: there’s no controller support - which means that you have to make very precise taps to pick up every loot drop; and parties must disband after each dungeon. These are fairly disappointing flaws which do really detract from your experience with this game. To be fair, the game is certainly still serviceable in the controls and multiplayer departments. If those issues were fixed, it’d be a 5 star game. In the current state, it’s still way better than 99% of the games on the app store. If controller support is added I’d definitely recommend this to someone looking for a great mobile game.

Thinking. I like the game so far, the trial. But I am unsure if I want to buy it or not. I heard the multiplayer mode changed since gamecube and it sounds much better in the old version as you could truly travel, even towns, with your teammates. I still do enjoy the gameplay. The graphic is nice and it always amaze me to see games that were once on console coming to mobile. The control, personally, i am fine with it. But it is difficult to use spells this way... hmm maybe it is not fine after all.. And the mooggle button... needs to change place... it bothers a lot. Also, the pick up botton, being in the middle of the screen, really stops the flow of the game. Many people noted the same things. I hope it will be considered and fixed. Meanwhile, I am still fighting between if it is worth buying it or not...

Multiplayer Broken. You can’t actually play the story with friends. You can only play individual maps. Which don’t count toward the completion of the story for anyone but the host. Worse still, the game is pretty clearly designed to be a multiplayer experience so it is pretty boring solo

Great game! Can’t progress.. I love this game and it works smoothly on the iPhone. I’m in the desert map and can’t progress even though I’m performing lightning on the correct cactus. I’m gonna wait to see if I’m missing something or the game isn’t working correctly. When you fix it it will be perfect! Good job. Thank you!

Controller support. Controller support please

Garbage. Horrible combat Horrible gameplay

Bad. This is a shame. Control, netcode, loading screen, everything is completely wrong. How a remaster can offer a worse experience than the original ?

Missed this game!. Only thing I really don’t like about this game are the controls on mobile. Just make the pick up items off the floor button the same as the attack. Really giving me carpal tunnel syndrome just to press the middle of the screen.

Bye bye. No controller support and huge letterbox on iPad Pro. Bye bye see ya later.

Needs some things.. Awesome game. Brings back a lot of nostalgia from my GameCube days. Played over 800 hours on that and am at about 75 hours on this version. Last update brought something that was very much appreciated. We can finally skip those long boring cutscenes. Haha. Things I look forward to in the future though: • Being able to change my orientation. This would making playing and charging easier depending on where I’m sitting. • Controller support. Don’t understand why this isn’t even possible. • the Moogle button desperately needs to be moved in single player. Getting tired of hitting it when I’m fiighting. Dumbest location ever. (Maybe allow us to move it where we want it?) • Item pick-up needs to be fixed in mobile. Works beautifully on the Switch. I’d also like it if storage was in all major towns so I didn’t have to run back home when I’m missing something to craft in Alfitaria or Shella...

Love it. I have waited forever for this game to be remastered. Despite the changes I personally really love the remastered version.

Hugely disappointing. Like a so called free mobile game - that is, super grindy and boring - but costs $40. Boo - urns 🙄🧐👿

Controllers compatible?. 5 star if it would let us use our PS4 controllers

No controller support!?. I was eager to play this on iOS rather than all the other platforms but just figured out that it doesn’t support gaming controller. HARD PASS really disappointed. Hope they update this soon

USD30. This will cost you 30USD and free to play the first 2 dungeons before you force to purchase the game. They should have written that before players download this game. Disappointed because is a 17 years old game still charged half of a triple A prices.

Nice game. Good game for playing together with your friends and family

Needs work. No controller support. Absolutely needs controller support. Don’t be lazy guys. Screen can also go to sleep while the game is being used. Will update my score once these issues are fixed.

Super Excited. Never got to play this, but always heard good things. I will come back and update after I play a bit!!!

*Head bangs to beautiful music*. *Can’t get passed title screen* *Music to lit*

High Potential, Major Dissapointment. Lols this game is ported over from the GameCube in all its adorable glory, but without controller support or local multiplayer. Guess I just won't waste my time with it then.

Co-op play?. Why bother making a game co-op cross platform if you need to progress with the story in single player mode in order to play with a friend? For example, if you join a friends lobby and complete a dungeon, you need to re-complete the dungeon by yourself in order to progress to the next dungeon with your friends!

Multiplayer is Frustrating. It’s really unfortunate that players can abuse being AFK in runs and still reap the rewards at the end. There’s also the problem where a player would take the chalice and hide in a corner. There’s absolutely nothing you can do to make them drop it.

Sound isn’t working. I wish the sound would work

Needs controller support. Wonderful game that brings back memories. Would be even better with controller support.

Annoying. I’m kicked off during multiplayer every time I get any kind of interruption (phone call, text, notification) and it says it’s reconnecting but never does. Waited an hour just to see how long it would go for. Needs work ASAP

Does this even work?. I just downloaded this game and it doesn’t even load up and I’ve tried 4 times already

No Sound?. Says my iPhone 8 on iOS 13.2 should be compatible, but there’s no sound in any of the cutscenes or character creation when testing the different voices. I didn’t even see a settings button anywhere, are there no customizable settings? If there’s no sound and I can’t turn on subtitles, the game is kinda unplayable.

Not optimized. If I even breathe on the screen it will disconnect me from multiplayer. It’s basically impossible to make it through a dungeon because I always get disconnected. Also allow screen flip. Why put this on mobile if it’s literally incompatible with using it on mobile.

I love the game. I was waiting for this game to arrive! But please add controller compatibility!!

Movement/Interaction. Mobile controls for this are terrible. Downloaded, attempted, deleted. I hoped for more since this was one of my favorites growing up. Don’t recommend unless you like frustration.

Garbage Cash Grab. They took everything about the old game and made the remaster the worst version of it. Multiplayer doesn’t allow a caravan where your friends can travel in towns together. The myrrh is also not shared at the end of the dungeon.

Don't do it. This review is not limited to the iOS version. The console versions are just as horrible. Forced online multiplayer where only the host can progress in the story. Like... what were they even thinking?

Please add controller support.. Great game but it seriously needs MIfI controller support. The positions of the virtual buttons make my hands hurt after a periods of play. Adding controller support would make this game a top choice in the App Store.

Controller support should be added. Other than that, great game.

Please add controller support. Love the game. One of my favorites from when I was young. Would love to be able to use a controller

The world needs to try this game everyone. One of the best games ever made on GameCube and even better now that’s it been remastered I highly recommend!

Please add controller w. I really like this game I played a lot on the GameCube can you please add controller support

Intro. Let us skip the long annoying intro video.

Disappointing for Multiplayer. To me the whole point of the game was playing in multiplayer with the family. It was not well thought out. Don’t get why they had to do it this way.

Crash King. I have been trying to play this on my iPad, but the game crashes after reading the “terms of use”. Sorry, but a hard pass when you have a broken game

No sound.. I am not getting any sound in the menu or opening cutscene.

Back bone support. All classic need this one of the top 5 ff games

Hmmm. Nothing beats the GameCube version. I don’t understand why we can’t press to exit out of the boss and collecting the mrryh cutscenes like how we can in the GameCube version. If there’s a way... tell meeeeeee! 😅

Poor attempt. Game offers no controller support and touch screen controls are clunky. I just wanted to play with a controller on my iPad

DOOOOOPE!!!. Play it. Way better on mobile. Won’t be disappointed.

Don’t play this if you want to play with friends. This game is unplayable with friends. You are unable to share a world and so it’s impossible to enjoy running through the full game together.

Where is the full standalone version?. Honestly Square Enix, with these premium prices you're charging your customers, at least you should have made a separate standalone full version of this game that is clear of any in-app purchases!

Terrible controls. Bad idea to put this game on a touch screen. You’re gonna be dying a LOT. You just can’t do things quickly enough to survive because of the bad controls. Not optimized for touch screen at all. Basically unplayable.

Stop remaking stuff and breaking it.. 30 bucks? Too much for a game this old especially after it has been butchered. And still no skipping long intro which was a complaint about original.

Needs controller support!. Needs controller support before I can fairly real review it. It’s weird that it doesn’t have it considering other Square iOS games do. Otherwise seems like a solid port and is beautiful and sounds great too.

A masterpiece game turned grindfest. Only the host progress, multiplayer is dungeon queue instead of full progression, all new designs stick out of the original like sore thumbs, and lag causes people to be hurt by miasma while in their menu screen

Need to pay for full version. Cannot progress through the game without buying the full version

Love the game….. but they need to add controller support. Game is amazing but would be sooo perfect with a controller support. Like console why can’t it just add the ability to connect a switch or Xbox controller and play

It’s finally here. I’m very happy that I’m able to relive one of my favorite childhood games and play with any of my friends with cross play!

Disappointing multiplayer claims. Single player is fine, but the multiplayer aspect is completely botched. Luckily this game didn’t cost anything to find that out. I had been looking forward to multiplayer since I didn’t have people to play the original with back in the day

Absolutely Terrible 😢 !. This game is not CO-OP stop saying it is. You can only play with your friends in a dungeon. IT IS NOT THE SAME-THING HAS STARTING the story together and plying side by side. I use to play this game with my sister and now it’s join if you can. I can’t even get into the game at all. PLEASE BRING BACK THE GAMECUBE VERSION.

Lack of one village co-op. Did they do user research? Everybody wanted to run around with friends and play off one storyline as a tribe together. The game desperately needs your friends to be able to play characters from the host village. Was waiting for this for a year with such high hopes of just the same as the original. It’s not a remastered edition, it’s demastered.

Nostalgia but no. Controls aren’t working well and I’m a lefty so I need controls for lefty. Joining maps is having horrible connection problems.

Sign of fantasy Crystal Chronicles does not have control support. I love this game so much but it would be nice if it had controllers Support. Can you please add?

Timeless Banger. An absolute classic. Able to play cross play with those on Switch and PS4. Highly recommended

I love it but. I love this game, the original was the best for playing with friends. But on mobile it’s hard, mainly if you want to play with friends. Its always fun to play a classic, but beware the disconnect warning! If you want to check the time in a Dungeon, you might disconnect. I was booted out of the match and kept saying “loading” and never moved. A mini-clock would be a nice help D:

Intro. Grew up with this game and I love it to death, but the intro about about made me wanna give this a 1 star 😑 Please make a skip option
