Mario Kart Tour Comments & Reviews 2026

Multiplayer needs a little work. I love the game - rarely am I loyal to an app, but this one gives you so many options to achieve things (even without in game purchases) that it has kept me hooked for months. I much prefer the single-player to multiplayer because I find the multiplayer laggy and frustrating. A lot of the time I’ll hit someone with a shell or something but there’s no crash time to catch up, so many of the items are rendered moot. I’ve seen a lot of the players also blip in and out in front of me, which makes it hard to use items as well as see a genuine representation of where everyone is on the track. I have a super strong wifi connection that works well with other apps, so I know it’s not that. It also puts a lot of stress on my phone and I have to stop playing after a few races so it doesn’t get too hot (although I do have an iPhone 8 so that might be my problem). It’s also annoying that everyone plays as the same 1-2 characters when we all get the same special items, like boomerangs, and the game becomes more mayhem than anything else else. I know it’s a new feature and I feel like it will get better with time, but I figured I’d leave some feedback anyway in case the developers see it.

Fun for a time. It starts out fun and is for an occasional time to hop on and do a race. I had hopes for it and would have rated it much higher during my first few races. It becomes quite irritating when you are attempting to score points especially on short tracks. In order to gain anything really you need to score points. Each time you do something worth points it increases the combo, which gives a higher bonus. If you take too long between actions you lose your combo. It is a neat idea and can be fun but You end up being constantly knocked around and hit, which leads to you losing your combo constantly. This is quite irritating and begins to ruin all the fun. The worst parts about it is you start out with little to no drivers, karts, and gliders. This is understandable except gaining currency in the game to get more is very lacking. The biggest reason this is a problem comes back to the points. You gain much more points using certain drivers, karts, and gliders on certain tracks. This makes some of the high point totals practically impossible when starting, which slows progression even more. Finally in non multiplayer you lose experience to your next rank if you quit or finish not in the top 3. This makes aiming for the top point totals more annoying. I want to rate the game at a 4-5 stars but some aspects need some alterations before that. I still plan to play but occasionally, and would more if it gets updated to remove much of the frustrations of the game. Oh and I also noticed at times the turning wouldn’t respond at times close to the edge of the screen.

Great Game, but could improve a little.. Honestly, with much of the effort into the game, the quality is quite excellent. But there’s a few things I want to share that could make this game better. One, Controller Support. I don’t understand why this game doesn’t support controllers. Mario Kart has mainly been made in Official Nintendo Products (like Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, etc.)! Why not on mobile? It can literally be as easy as using D-Pad or L-Stick to move cursor, A to select, B to go back, and during gameplay, it can be something like tilting controller or use L-Stick to move, A to use hold item (can use R-Stick for direction of item throws if selected), B to open menu, X to use Item Ticket, R to look behind, and L to Drift (and maybe Y to do the animation while waiting for the race to start). Which does lead me to… Number 2, Tilt Problems. Some users prefer tilting to turn, but in the new iPadOS 26 update, app windows can be resized, but the issue actually comes with tilting itself. It literally makes the device switch orientation even when the game tries to lock to the orientation. We need this fixed. And 3, Online Multiplayer. Often I get “Connection Problem” error when waiting for races to start, and I’m not sure why. I have a Wi-Fi connection at excellent strength, why error? That’s all I have, and otherwise, the game is good.

Has the potential to be waaaaay better. I understand Nintendo wanted to go for the whole “play with one hand” type of thing but the game could be sooooo much better. For one I like the Wii version of mario kart a thousand times better...if its possible to create a controller for the wii on regular smart phones so that I can still play my Wii that would be nice so keep that into consideration. Anothee thing WHY IS THERE NO WIRELESS MULTIPLAYER!???!!!! I want to compete against my friends not against the computer and against some random players, thats what made mario kart, mario kart. You could play by yourself or compete against friends when needed. In reality I was being nice by giving it three stars, its not a bad game but it really could be better, the app really wont last long if you dont get the multiplayer option and then can the controls not be soooo simple because a landscape option for the phone would be ideal so that we can be in control of our speeds and even have a mobile device tilting option to steer because right now everything feels like its been figured out for us and takes away the players control over the game which is not the authetic mario kart because we chose our speed and we chose how to steer and we chose how to use items and this mobile app takes all of that away. Please please please please do better because we all know that you can.

New York Minute Map Rant. The game is very fun, however I do find coin grinding to be a bit repetitive, only earning 50 gold per match. Also, New York is probably my least favorite map, making it very difficult for me to reach 5 stars, even though I play 150 cc every race or event I do. I don't have a driver that has more than 1 items slot,(there being only 4, all of which are above common[diddy kong, Bowser, Pauline, Mario with a suit])Before, I had a problem on this map in The Bowser cup, in which I grinded from level 4 to 12 on that map alone, taking me 3 days to eventually have rng side in my favor(I didn’t have the kart for x2-3 points, so being first on lap1 and 2, and reaching 1800 bonus points from random stuff to reach the 4,600 points I needed.) Overall, I am in a situation where 5 grand stars are half based on rng, hoping I get items instead of Mushrooms, and not getting hit AT ALL by other racers. I’ve got the drifting down, holding green shells and bananas for extra protection against red shells, and riding into other racers if they are riding me. Now its diddy kong cup, near situation except the goal is 5300 instead of 4600. And the characters this time are: Pauline, diddy kong, donkey kong, and mario with a suit. I have the highest tier cart for the level(x2 points) and a middle tier glider. However, I’m stuck with toad to chug through the race.

Fun Game, Small Issues. This is a fun game, don’t get me wrong. However, I feel like this game is majority pay-to-win. You can only collect so many coins a day, which isn’t a whole lot. The only daily reward is the daily race and the rewards are very iffy.. sometimes they seem worth it, sometimes it’s not worth it. I wish the rewards would be *good* or at least it would be nice if the reward was better after each day. I also think it would be nice to update the multiplayer online part of the game. I think it would be better to put everyone with their ranking, with other people in the same ranking. People who are rank F shouldn’t be racing with people Rank S or S2 .. I would rather race with other people from Rank F or even Rank E to give us all an actual chance to compete and win. I also believe the rubies are too expensive. 80% of what is in the shop usually costs rubies but you can’t ever buy them because it’s really difficult to earn and gain rubies without paying for them, and with paying for them.. I think it’s crazy to make us pay over $50 for just over 100 rubies or paying $2.14 for 4 rubies. With anything from the shop, you would basically have to spend over $60 to buy 1 single character. It’s very discouraging to want to continue playing this game when to really do ANYTHING, you have to either save every coin for over 2 weeks, or you have to overpay for something that’s gone in an instant..

3 stars for now hopefully.... Listen I LOVE Mario kart and I’m so happy they finally made it a mobile app but there are a decent amount of problems I have with it that I just can’t look past. Maybe I have too high of expectations for Mario Kart but idk. My biggest problem is the variety of courses. It’s been the same cycle of like 10 different courses since it’s been out. With all of the courses they have created through out the time you would think they would be able to mix it up more. I’ve just been finding myself getting bored of it already for awhile now. Another thing I cannot stand is how they have the leveling up that you can only get so far with in the day, like why?? Also I cannot stand as soon as you get an item it makes you get rid of the ones you might have been saving, idk why the decided to add that because that’s never been a thing before. Also the fact that they STILL don’t have multiplayer ready?? Really? Let’s be honest I feel like that was the thing that people were looking forward to the most and I feel like people are going to lose interest in it before it’s even ready. At this point I just don’t they should have released the app until everything was ready. And lastly, $5 a month for the gold pass?? Seriously? That’s outrageous! I can understand a one time fee of $5 but monthly?? That’s a bit excessive. Overall I still enjoy the app because it makes my inner child happy but there are a lot of things that needed fixed before I can give this an honest 5 stars.

Fun classic ruined by micro transactions and no challenge.. I’ve been a fan of the Mario kart games for a long time and MK: Tour could have been great. But like all iPhone games nowadays instead of having a set price for a full game experience it’s filled with micro transactions. Characters are unlocked randomly and costs gems (it’s random so you literally use gems and don’t even get to choose what character you want to unlock). Everything is based on this new point systems so the better items are hard to get or costs money. This game isn’t even worth putting a dollar into, there is no challenge at all, it’s like they made it for 5yo kids. All the sides of the tracks have invisible bumpers so no more falling off the track. You don’t even accelerate it does that for you too. All you have to do is steer or drift and make your way to the finish line. They don’t even have an option to make controls a little more in depth and challenging. Oh and that whole online thing you thought was gonna happen isn’t even a thing. It’s bots that are designed to seem like real people around the world. You can prove this to be true by exiting the app at first place and then waiting 5 min and going back and the game hasn’t even continued but paused. The only thing I will give this game is the graphics and look of it. It looks almost as good as the newest Mario kart 8 deluxe on switch. So I’ll give them that but I would’ve rather just paid 5 or 10 dollars for a full Mario kart game than have to be bombarded with micro transactions.

Disgusting cashgrab.. Avoid at all costs. For what you would think would be a children’s game, it is definitely not. Premium items are ridiculously priced. It costs a fortune to even attempt to get some of the better items. Worst yet, controls are atrocious. Everything being connected to the touch screen causes so many issues. It is supposed to be that you swipe up or down to use items but the majority of the time you’ll use them just by simply turning left or right. The controls also lack precision. It is next to impossible to make a slight adjustment to your movement as opposed to a proper control stick. Beyond this, the gameplay is repetitive. All you basically do is race against CPUs that will continuously cheat, outspeed and prioritize attacking the player. Yes, they’re flat out faster than you. The items also heavily favor them as it is 7 vs. 1. And the worst part of this is that YOU GET PUNISHED FOR LOSING! Yes, you have a player rank that goes up based on your position. Why would you PUNISH someone playing your game for something that is often out of their control? And they also expect you to also drive perfectly, get combos to complete missions, without them interfering! (Better get a lot of $$$$$ to increase the better items you can get while racing!!!!) As someone who enjoyed the previous entries on the consoles, this is disgusting to see what has become of this franchise. My biggest regret is giving this game any sort of money.

This game could have more potential to be one of the better MarioKart games. The thought of MarioKart being on mobile devices is definitely awesome but there’s is a lot of glaring issues with the game that kinda ruins the experience for the game. One problem being that i have to update the game literally every day I updated the game a few hours ago and it needed another update. This could just be a me problem but it’s still an issue that I’m not ok with. If this issue alone was fixed id enjoy MarioKart tour a lot. Another issue is the lack of variety in the cups you basically get one original track and three-four retro tracks and all the other cups has the same tracks but they either are backwards, have ramps,or backwards with ramps etc. id prefer quality over quantity. Also in addition to this problem why do we have to wait two weeks to get a new set of tracks? At the very least you could have gave us a basic vs mode that would let us play all the retro tracks in the game. The ruby system and gold pass are just awful, you have to pay five dollars a month for extra rewards and 200cc. And you have to pay 2 dollars for 3 rubies. Thats not even enough to make a pipe shoot. It’s sad to see Nintendo do what every game on the mobile market does. I understand that the newer MarioKarts have had some game changing changes like in MarioKart wii they introduced bikes,in seven they introduced underwater driving and the gliders, and in 8 they introduced anti gravity but there is so many changes both good and bad that this sadly doesn’t feel like a MarioKart game

Some thrills, ultimately below average. Played it for a couple weeks. There is some excitement to be found in the races - just like in other Mario Kart titles. It's thrilling to rank in first with a well-timed shell toss or mushroom boost. But many things about this game quickly grow tiresome. The controls are unpleasant. Sliding with your finger to steer works reasonably well, but it makes finesse almost impossible - which is probably a big part of why invisible walls line almost every turn on each course. The progression system rotates you through several courses from a small pool of them that lasts for two weeks. It's not too bad, but it does get a little tedious having to race through courses you've already seen before several times on previous days. The method of unlocking new karts, racers, and so on is very random - you buy attempts to unlock them, gacha style, and will likely end up just getting the same stuff you own several times before getting lucky and finding a new thing. But even racing with those new things is sort of discouraged, because every track has a favored set up of racer, kart, and parachute, and why would you choose a weaker racer if another will net you more points, etc? Thus having a favorite racer is pointless. I guess I'm just not a big fan of several of the mobile game conventions this game ties into itself. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth, because it's Mario Kart. It's supposed to be the most appealing, purely fun racer out there. I don't see the appeal in this one though.

Mario kart tour has many problems. I’ll start simple. Paywalls, this game is not just an app, it’s a filthy cash grab that blocks every necessity behind a paywall. Sure you can play the game for free but as a Nintendo fan my whole life I don’t think this is what they SHOULD be doing. I’m all for calling out a company when they really need and now is definitely a good time too. The only reason this game is popular now is because everyone has a phone and no one wants to waste money on a system just to play Mariokart on it. Online play isn’t even online play, it just randomly generates names and puts you up against them. And I love the Mario franchise and would love to see it expanded even more than it is now, but this game didn’t do that for me. Also, Luigi isn’t playable yet(this might be outdated in a couple updates but I still wanted to mention it)? The starting roster has FOUR Marios, it has three peaches and two bowsers, six characters that could’ve been used on Luigi or any other character that hasn’t had a Mariokart debut yet. And finally, I want to mention that giving Nintendo support on this game is giving them reason to make more of these games where everything is blocked via paywalls and that is not how I would expect Nintendo to do things with a Mariokart game on the phone, though dr Mario did the same exact thing and Mario run was average. So Mario kart tour was a disappointment.

Fun at first, but now. Compared to when I first started playing, seems like the number of cups in each tour have gone down; and it takes forever for the next tour to come out, so it gets boring playing the same cups over and over. In the latest tour, the last cup, the only way to get 4 or 5 stars is to have high end drivers/karts/gliders...that’s BS. I’ve fired the pipe at least 30 times during this latest tour and I’ve only ever gotten 1 high end and 1 super. So you either pay for more rubies to fire the pipe again or you just don’t get the stars. Trash. Multiplayer is cool, but I’ve been booted out of so many multiplayer races which causes my ranking to lower, I didn’t choose to quit the race, I’m always connected to WiFi, so why should my ranking be affected, it wasn’t my fault. Also, in multiplayer, I just can’t believe some of the things that happen..like how am I getting hit by something every 3 seconds, or how was I way ahead of the group one second, then last the next second. I don’t think this game matches you up with players who are on or close to the same ranking as you, even though it’ll say we’re all the same ranking. Always feels like there’s something off about multiplayer. Shady. Definitely not getting any more of my actual money (canceled Gold Pass, spent max $40 for rubies). Just thinking about trying to level up makes my blood boil now, might just have to delete this app, no longer fun like it used to be.

FUN. BUT, WAY TOO EXPENSIVE AND REPETITIVE.. My feelings towards this game are sort of a love and hate type of thing. In the beginning I loved it more for nostalgic reason than anything else, but that only lasted but so long. I eventually developed a hate for game bc I realized in order to stay competitive I’d have to spend real money something I was not willing to do, so I stopped playing all together. Fast forward some months later I began playing again, and I dreadfully decided to get the gold pass, and even made a few random purchases on ruby’s, and a couple other small bundles which I admit it got me excited to keep playing again, but eventually it felt stagnant once again only this time it cost me money. I get it they have to make money that’s not really my problem with the game. My problems are one being the whole raffle based spending of your rubies (which you more than likely paid for) the odds you get anything useful are super slim. Two I don’t like how you can’t level up off racing alone, the whole needing point tickets (which are super hard to get) to level up karts, glider’s, and characters that you’ve already earned (or paid for) is just a bit ridiculous. Last the cups are all the same maps just randomized with one new themed course ran again and again paired with the same characters in new outfits. I wish they offered different elements and actual modes of gameplay instead.

Too many IAPs and wonky controls. For a Mario Kart game, it works. It’s better than it has any right to. That’s a testament to how well Nintendo designed the game. The track selection is kind of limited but that’s forgivable since it’s a fairly new title and more tracks are coming later on (same with multiplayer so I’m good). My only 2 problems are that it has too many in app purchases and the controls are wonky beyond belief. First, the controls. The two initial control options don’t seem to make much sense. No one on a console MARIO Kart game would actually just drift around every turn and the same would go for regular turning. There needs to be an option to have both. Tilt controls are an option (that you have to look for in the options menu) but they’re so delayed you’re almost better off not using them. I think having the option where turning depends on how far you slide on the screen would make more sense. Slide a little in one direction and you do a regular turn. Slide some more to drift. Lift off to gain a boost after drifting. That’d be a nicer way to do it. Secondly is the in app purchases. I understand this is mainly meant to promote the main series MARIO kart but I don’t see why they had to add in a subscription option when it adds even less content than anything else Nintendo sells that’s comparable. It just comes off as greedy and will probably leave a bad taste for a lot of players. So I’m giving it 4 stars mainly due to the gameplay and my appreciation for the series. I hope they think about adjusting some of these things though. The controls especially because they definitely need a bit more tweaking.

Fun Game, Improvements Necessary. I waited to write this review until I was well into the game just to see what changes were initially made. I think the racing itself is awesome; cool karts, characters, gliders, etc... However, I think the limits on how many points and coins you can acquire each day is entirely too low. I can play for 30 minutes and reach this limit. It makes it very hard to achieve high points on items, which makes it hard to advance in the game. If you pay for a gold pass, there should be no limit to your daily points or coins. Additionally, I think that rubies are entirely too expensive (both real money & virtually) and they don’t necessarily guarantee good items from the pipes. I think that you should be able to purchase rubies with coins collected in the game & 48 rubies should not cost $27, especially since they don’t guarantee you’ll receive anything valuable to your game play. If the rubies were less expensive and had a higher chance of getting something good, I think that people would have more incentive to buy them!! If these improvements are made, I think a lot more people would play. I personally know people that played when the game first came out, but quickly left due to these issues. I hope the concerns raised by avid and loyal players are considered by Nintendo. ~Riley

This could have been much better. I was pretty excited for this game to come out. Mario Kart is one of my favorite Nintendo series. Unfortunately, it’s hard to enjoy. I really only have fun with it one or two days every two weeks, since other than that cups only release once per day. I’m really not a fan of ranked cups, it’s a bit unfair when you’re against people who do the in-app purchases (which are WAY too overpriced). It’s always so hard and repetitive since you’re only playing three tracks over and over. And if you don’t get top row for everything, you’re kind of screwed. It’s especially annoying when you get to higher tiers and it’s way harder to progress, not to mention you go down if you get bottom 10 (which is way too many people, bottom 5 would make more sense). Unfortunately, it’s really the only practical way to get rubies. Tour gifts are way too slow and buying them is way too expensive. (Why the heck does the gold pass cost more than NSO?) To say something positive, it is pretty fun playing new cups and I like how we continuously get new tours. I also think bonus challenges are fun (except maybe smash small Dry bones and mega battles). I’ve been wanting them back in Mario Kart, and it’s cool to see them here. All in all, I feel like this app mostly just wastes my time and I kind of wish I’d never downloaded it. It also really makes me want Mario Kart 9. And it better be on the switch.

Amazing; Needs a few bug fixes. Overall the game is extremely entertaining. The game is perfect enough to where the new controls are easy for new players to learn, but still complex enough to give old pros like myself a slight advantage. I enjoy the maps and the different characters/karts, especially how easy it is to unlock new things. Unlike some apps which are pay to play or pay to win, you don’t need to buy anything to still have fun and quickly unlock a whole bunch of cool stuff. In only one day I was able to unlock seven or so different characters and many parts/gliders. Unfortunately multiplayer with friends isn’t out (though I heard it is coming soon?), but you can still find enjoyment playing against other opponents online who are just as skilled as you. However, the game is new, and as such has a few bugs. For example, many people I know will play a game and a sever FPS drop or lag spike will hit them immediately, ruining the round. Also, the game crashes for many after a few rounds and it can take a minute to relaunch. Also, sometimes when you try to drift one way the kart ends up going the wrong way, and when you attempt to press the 180 degree/turn around button, more often than not your character will begin drifting since the button is small and the app detects pressure input down there as drift input on occasion. Besides these few bugs, the game is truly amazing and I’m so glad that Nintendo finally added Mario Kart to the App Store! I personally love seeing all my friends playing Nintendo games once again, it’s like my childhood returning once more! 10/10 would recommend!

Best looking mobile game to date. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a game that graphically looked as good as this one. It’s also really fun to play in spurts (like a mobile game should be) but a little difficult to steer, especially at first. Once you get used to it, it’s not that bad. I’m not sure I see a lot of people that own a Switch or other recent Nintendo consoles spending a lot of time with this game but it is a great mobile alternative for those who don’t own a console or can’t really get away with carrying one around all day. The collecting characters and carts is fun but would probably be costly if you wanted more chances than what you get from daily or other play bonuses. Initial play will give you enough gems to have several chances and if you save them, maybe even a 10 pull like other gacha games but you’ll probably need to invest either time or money to get similar chances after the first few days. I’m still 5 starring this game because it’s fun and easy on the eyes, and in my opinion, just the technical feats alone of this game raises the bar for other developers. Like others, I’d prefer an option to just pay a Lincoln or a Hamilton for the full game but it’s hard to blame Nintendo for the mobile market being structured the way it is to allow for developers to truly turn a profit, but it sure isn’t stopping the media from trying to. Play the game. There’s plenty to do for free and nothing wrong with paying for items to support development, if you want. Just do it responsibly.

Game is absolutely AMAZING. Gosh where do I start. Mario Kart is a complete classic, and the fact that I can play it without a Wii, which costs about $100-$200 I think, is simply mind blowing. And I’m going to make this clear, this game is NOT the Mario Kart from the Wii consoles. There are micro transactions, and it’s not the Mario Kart where you just choose a character, then choose a map. You have to buy characters, karts, etc. BUT, that doesn’t take away the fact that it’s fun as heck! You can grind for stuff, too, if you don’t want to spend money. And I LOVE that because grinding for things is the best way to get stuff in my opinion. I mean it’s a free game. Of course there’s going to be micro transactions... Especially for a game of this caliber, you can’t blame them for adding some sort of payment stuff. But, the thing with micro transactions is they’re not the kind where if you don’t buy them, you have a complete disadvantage, and you might as well quit because it’s unplayable without all the OP stuff that you could get with a little $$$. This game is so fun, and I don’t even care about buying things. Because all in all, it’s just Mario Kart, and I love it. Please don’t let the micro transactions be a turn off because this game is fun with or without all those packs that you can buy. Only suggestion for me, is eventually add controller compatibility, or at least make a landscape option. It feels kind of weird in portrait, but you get used to it. I’d still prefer landscape and that would make this game perfect. DOWNLOAD THIS GAME NOW!!! Thank you Nintendo!

It’s FREE Mariokart! Just please enjoy it.. I’ve played a lot of Nintendo apps and they have always been very generous to dedicated players. I know people complain about paying to play 200cc but you can still earn the same amount of position points by playing 150cc. I used my two week free trial and always played on 100cc to get the highest scores (fast enough to achieve combos while avoiding being hit too much by opponents). I don’t even understand why people hate on “fake multiplayer” since the game never advertised multiplayer just FREE Mariokart. I’m honestly glad that we do not have to wait for lobbies and finding 8 people playing at the same time because I know lobbies on the switch are NEVER full in Mariokart 8 and it would probably take forever to get a game started. They also give out lots of rubies if you log in daily and complete he challenges. You obviously aren’t going to get every High-end item, but if you play smart with the pipes you’ll get the ones you want. I saved all my gems and used them all in one pipe to get Mario (Hakama). Nintendo has always focused on playing with ONE HAND and they achieved that very well in this game (except when you’re drifting and want to use an item). It lets you play it casually anywhere you go while multitasking which is what I usually do. Overall I’m happy with this game. I know it going to get boring eventually like Mario Run, Pokémon Rumble Rush, and Fire Emblem Heroes. However, I’m glad Nintendo created a platform that allows EVERYONE to enjoy Mariokart.

It’s okay, but needs work. I tried the game out today and, although there are plenty of things I like, I do have some issues with it. To get the good things first, I really enjoy the games much faster pace and how it re-uses a single course in multiple ways, to help keep it fresh. I also REALLY enjoy seeing the double dash method of character specific items or bonuses so each character is ore likely to be used. With all that being said, I do think there are more cons than pros at the moment. The controls are EXTREMELY odd, and the app would work much better in landscape mode and could just use tap and hold controls instead of the strange swiping. As for other things, I think the gacha in this game is a bit lacking. I used the 45 ruby one but only got a single gold item. The gacha would be better if you could receive a guaranteed Gold or better item. Along with that, I had a lot of duplicates in that batch so instead of getting any new characters, I received numerous duplicates, and I personally believe that there shouldn’t be mostly duplicates when you’re barely starting out. Along with those, I do think that there could be more level variety. It is only early game and it did just release so I am expecting more to come out later, making this much less of an issue, but I still think that there could’ve been a bit more to start out with. Overall, I do think this is a good game despite these flaws and, since I am expecting change overtime, I’m still likely to recommend this to people. I’d say my actual rating is a 6-7/10 rather than 3 stars but apple only gives me star ratings.

Game is great but this is what I would improve. I absolutely love Mario kart. It’s my favorite racing game of all time and the creativeness of each character, kart, and glider make this game so fun for casual gamers. There are some things I would like to see changed though. The price for gems when buying them is insane. It’s at the point where a single high end character is valued at about $20. It might even be higher. The only thing that is actually worth it is the gold pass. So if Nintendo wants me to spend my money, it would be nice if the money I spend is actually worth it. The second thing I would like to see changed is the ability to be able to do more time trials. Currently there are only one or two available time trials per tour, and that isn’t enough. I enjoy grinding out each track and finding the quickest possible route to the finish line, but when there is only two tracks to do that, it gets boring. My solution is to do what MK8 does and give every track in the tour the option to do a time trial. Even the reverse one and the ones with add jumps and ramps. The option to do a time trial doesn’t even have to give the player anything valuable, it’s just a way for the player to learn and get good at each track. Or there could be a global ranking system for each track where the top 5% or 10% of times gets a reward at the end of each tour. Those are just my thoughts about how this already incredible game can improve. I hope the devs read this and decide to make some changes. Thank you for your time!

Unable to play because of update. Don’t waste your money or your time with this app. I tried to update for the new Princess Tour and the update is so slow that it freezes and crashes the app. I’ve done everything from uninstalling then reinstalling the app, turning off cellular data then turning it on, turning on airplane mode then turning it back off, and shutting off and restarting my phone itself. I have a lot of storage space so that isn’t the issue. I’ve battled with this for the last 4 hours and the app will reinstall but it’s extremely slow. When the app finally is installed I try to download the current tour only for me to just get a “communication error” and the update is extremely slow and will go up only to the 27% and it will not download at all, resulting me in having to do all of the above again. I’ve invested so much progress and a lot of my hard earned money into this game only for me not being able to play it at all let alone access it and get my progress back. Because of an update the app is useless and will not install at all and I got ripped off and scammed. This app is a scam. I’ll never install any app that comes from this company because now I can’t install and play the game at all anymore plus all my progress is gone and my money spent is wasted because of ONE UPDATE. This is ridiculous and I want all of my money I’ve spent on this worthless app refunded on my card. Pure utter trash. Don’t bother. Waste of time and money.

(Just mainly suggestions on what to add or do...). Being a huge fan of the Mario Kart franchise, I actually really like this game, it’s really well done for a Mario kart mobile game but you could do so much more, I wanna see some retro tracks from the Wii or double dash, Mario kart 7 tracks and snes tracks just get a little boring overtime. I know everyone loves Mario kart Wii tracks a lot and there are so many iconic ones that’d I’d love to see in the game. The prices are kinda crazy in this game, though it’s free to play friendly, rubies cost so much and heck you might not get good things from a pipe, also (the $40 diddy Kong pack we shall not mention. And maybe smart steering should be nerfed or revamped, I even turned it off, and I still feel like I don’t have full power/control of kart, I just feel like the excitement of a Mario kart game comes from taking crazy shortcuts and just going out of control and fast! It’s so thrilling to go off a boost ramp in a crazy way! Finally the multiplayer system is great but I feel like instead of having to do a certain cup, maybe let the person who is the host pick a track or even better vote on one so it’s fair for all the players in a room, I’ve been playing this game since it came out and I’ve been waiting to see a Wii track on this. This amazing game has so much more potential and it could be so much better than what it already is! But overall this a great game and I love it, it’s not the best Mario kart, but it’s good, the all have a special place in my heart and so does this one.

Attention Developers‼️‼️‼️. I love this game. I have since I was a child. But lately I’ve been unable to play because it won’t load the game, it’s constantly asking me to download something and even after I do it will say the game has crashed. I was loving playing this game again and just got back into it but every time I’ve tried to play this week I’ve waited minutes upon minutes Nd it just won’t load. Even if I’m on WiFi, or if I try using my data. No matter what it’s problems. I was playing for weeks with this Happening occasionally but now it’s just to the point I’m about to give up because I can’t get the game to even start up! And yes I’ve downloaded all the updates and extra in-game downloading but I expect a game to start up in seconds, not hours lately *maybe’* I’d really like to get back into the game so if you can resolve this issue that would be great. When this game is working I will give it 5 stars but the technical difficulties are making me feel like I’m in 2002 again. Not 2020. I realize this is a difficult time in the world right now but it’s been happening far longer than that and only gotten worse and worse. And we shouldn’t have to download something every other day that should be fixed too. Please get back to me when bug fixes are actually resolved. Thanks for your time. I hope your team will read this review.

Generic racing game (with Mario). This game could’ve been great. The driving mechanics in this game are garbage. I didn’t like the auto driving in MK8 I don’t like it here. What stopped you from just making it a landscape game why would it be vertical what in the world made you think that was a good idea for a racing game of all things. I was genuinely looking forward to this game but unless the multiplayer is fun I don’t see myself playing this for more than a week max. Also what’s with the daily limits I always hate that, why would you punish me for devoting my time to your game that is so backwards and ridiculous. I wouldn’t even have been mad if it just had the driving forward and you can play gyroscopic horizontally but this game being vertical is probably my biggest hang up it’s just so odd and it doesn’t enhance gameplay at all it actually just hinders it. the fov is so small that you can barely see anything around you and the 180 camera is in a position where it’s difficult to pull off especially when the game is pretty fast paced. I enjoy Mario and mariokart and I know there will be people who disagree with me but this game and all racing games nowadays are just not good on mobile. they used to be some of the only games I play I’m not sure when it happened but mobile racing games in general are just in a bad place right now in my opinion and this game is not breaking that trend. Items are pretty good, punishment for not having the right character, kart and glider is steep but makes sense as this is a gacha game.

Rant. Game doesn’t want you to win and even if you get first place, the game will base you off of your performance. This game will do anything in its power to help make the “other real players” win. Why quote on quote? Well because in the tour mode you are not actually playing with real player, they are just computer players generated with real player names and load outs. As I was playing this game I noticed something that was very annoying, I would click the button that allows me to view behind me and when I would let go, it would change my controls from Manuel drift to standard driving. Also, in a race when I was right next to a computer player, I was focused in on trying to get ahead of this computer BUT the computer player just TELEPORTS? Ahead of me? Haha wow if that’s how this game is going to be, I am better of playing a Mario kart game that is actually fair. Two more things, the prices and the gold pass. The prices to purchase rubies are just wow. You mean to tell me that I have to pay two dollars for 3 rubies, not even enough for a ONE SHOT PIPE. Now the Gold pass. Seriously? I have to pay 5 dollars A MONTH for: 200cc and bonus awards and display badges? And that’s basically it, 200 cc which will probably have the computer players act impossible to beat with the way they are programmed unless you have the top load out for the race, the bonus awards aren’t too bad but golden display badges? Really? They don’t even look that good.

It WAS Good. I used to enjoy this game thoroughly. I logged in almost every day to complete a cup, which only takes about 15+ minutes. I would sometimes get high-end characters/parts and would subsequently brag to my friends about how I got the new high-end or whatever. Honestly, the thing that kept me coming back was the friend functionality and the addictiveness of firing pipes one or two at a time, hoping for a good outcome. That was 2020. So, I decided to download the game again to see how it changed, and to have more fun. I get the game, start playing, and I’m immediately impressed. The racing interface has become stellar and the tracks were all from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, almost exactly. So, I finish my cup, get 300+ rubies through beginner gifts, and instantly went to the shop to go fire up a pipe. I see the usual featured in-app purchases (I never got ANY) and saw the new feature where you can get specific racing components for rubies. I keep scrolling down. I saw that you can get pipes and golden pipes for tokens now, which is new. Eventually I reach the bottom of the menu, seeing no pipes for rubies, which they usually display near the top as one of the main features. I then think I’m not in the shop, so I do some menuing and come to the fact that that WAS the shop and there was no option for pipes for rubies. I close out the shop, delete the app, and here we are now. You got rid of the only thing that kept me (and many people) attached to the game! Nintendo, let this be a lesson to you: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

This Game is Fun But.... Mario Kart tour is a fantastic game so far and has great possibilities to become even greater. However there are some key features prevalent in their past games that could (and most likely should be) put into this game to make it over the top. My first thing to note is that you have the ability to add friends but you’re unable to play against them in a multiplayer game mode. Developers PLEASE add a multiplayer game mode, this would be an epic aspect to the game. In addition to multiplayer mode, they should take apart limits on player points, kart points, and glider points. Having a limit on these items creates limited play time, and since the limit is only a few level ups, it eventually makes the player uninterested in the game because they have to keep coming back, for only a few minutes just to max out the amount of XP and coins for the day. Unlike other Mario Kart games this is the only game that has limits and makes it even harder to max out characters karts and gliders. Also make the leveling up process harder for compensating the limiting leveling up process. One more thing that would be cool to add to the game is advertisements, as of right now you have to purchase rubies in order to obtain new karts, gliders, and characters unless you obtain them otherwise with challenges and tour gifts (which are lengthy and limited). Adding 30 seconds ads for rubies would make obtaining these characters, karts, and gliders easier. Anyways, these are only suggestions I hope someone (if anyone reads this) takes these into consideration for a future update. :)

Fun and addicting, but some sketchy moves by Nintendo. Few things I found wrong here after playing for awhile. The number of different maps is limited, as each cup just makes a random combination choosing from a selection of maybe 10-12 of them. Secondly, just the option to pay for a “gold pass” (5$ monthly) is annoying to me. I hate in game subscriptions that just make you better than other players, it takes the fun out of the grind. Plus, limiting the amount you can level up riders, carts, and gliders in one day makes it seem like a clear money grab as the game forces you to pay for extra coins, gems, gold pass, etc. lastly, the obvious attempt at deceiving the players making it seem like they’re playing online when in reality it’s bots with creative names is a bit sketchy. I’ve seen tons of reviewers on the App Store alone actually believing that they are playing against real players when they enter a cup. This is a big deal because once you find out everything is just computer AI, it gets repetitive and boring fast. I really enjoy the way they condensed the game-play to fit into the quick style of phone games, I appreciate the grind aspect even if it seems to be cornering me into paying, and I hope the multiplayer that comes out on Saturday can redeem the other poor qualities of Mario Kart Tour. For now though, 3/5 is about the most you can give it.

Needs work, otherwise Good.. This game is good, but it could use some improvements. First, the controls, which isn’t a huge issue after a while though. The controls at first were just weird and I was expecting the gameplay to be sideways, not vertical, although to be honest after a while I got used to them and am fine with them. Second, the Micro-transactions. The Micro-transactions are annoying, however the MT’s (I’ll just call Micro-transactions MT’s) are expensive but they actually discourage me to buy them since they are expensive, even though I most likely won’t be able to play as the character I really want, I can deal with it. The MT’s overall though need to at least not be shoved down your throat and maybe only show them every once in a while. And of course there are bugs that occur that need to be fixed. But the good things are, first, the nostalgia. The nostalgia did come at me like a flash flood, as with a ton of other games though too, but it’s nice to add this game on my list of nostalgic games. Second, it’s free. Now of course other games that had lots of in-game buying like Fortnite which you basically had to pay for V-bucks if you wanted whatever you wanted like a skin. With this game it has some of the same qualities, however I’ve noticed it’s definitely not as bad as Fortnite and is actually ok to deal with. But overall, this game is good, but could use some improvements. If you guys at Nintendo could get bugs fixed and maybe slowed down a lot on the MT’s, then I think the game could become 4.6/5 or 5/5, somewhere in that range. Anyway, if anyone is reading this, or if Nintendo is reading this, I hope you have a good day.

MK Tour, the goods and bads. Mario Kart Tour has brought the Mario Kart franchise to the next level. Once you start playing, you don’t stop. What is really impressive is that it mixes up the best from all the Mario Kart games, and adds extras, like new characters and challenges. Bugs and glitches are impossible to find. Although the game is great, it still has a few areas of weakness. For example, most main characters (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, etc.) are almost impossible to unlock, especially Mario. I never saw him in the shop, but he might have been there before I started playing. The only way you can unlock these guys are from pipes, and maybe tiers. But anyways, pipes are another problem. The odds of main characters are very, very low. One can probably think that they are rigged, even though they are not. Finally, the in-game purchases. This is probably the biggest problem yet, because not only do they ruin the fun, but they also make people quit. Sure, how else is Nintendo going to make money? I don’t blame them, they need to make money off of the game. But, however, they took it a bit too far. The Gold Pass is way, way, way too pay to win. You get tickets to unlock points for your items, and that gives you extra points on the leaderboard. It is way too easy. One with the Gold Pass could win one race and be 1st on the leaderboard, and the other without Gold Pass could work really hard and never win. Also, the price for some characters is so high, it looks like they are TRYING to make you pay money. So please, take it down a notch. Overall, this game is great. Perfect game to play for new players and old players. But Nintendo, you probably won’t read this, but if you do, please listen. Thank you.

MARIO CART TOUR. This game is really fun their only a few things that need to be looked at. The first thing is this game crashes some time u expect stuff like that because it’s new and every one is trying to play so when that’s fixed that would help so we wouldn’t have to start over a race. My secound thing is the controls could be way better if they put two arrows so u can steer theirs a lot of understeer when u play this game u drift way to much or don’t turn right on sharp corners that would honestly make this game way better and more fun to race with this controls. My third thing is their are micro trans actions so if u want the best characters u do have to buy the gold pass to me it does make a huge difference it gives u things free to play players won’t have or get because it’s exclusive to the gold pass for $5.99 I mean I know their trying to get money but this isn’t the way to get it. The point of games it to earn ur stuff not buy ur way to it so if u we’re planning to get platinum Mario u can’t unless u get the gold pass sorry guys. Their also is an online mode coming in future updates I hope it’s real player real time. I want to be able to send my friends invites so we can play together in our own lobby we create not with otheir people make it 2 separate online modes pvp and friend pvp. That’s all

My new favorite game!! ❤️. Let me first say, I’m extremely happy that Nintendo has released a game that you don’t have to pay to play!! I have been playing Mario Kart on my iPhone 6 for less than a week now, and I’m absolutely in love with this game! All my favorite Mario Kart characters and courses are in this game! The graphics are fantastic, the controls are very easy, and the courses are well-constructed and memorable. With the other Mario game released on the App Store, you only get a small bit of the game before you’re asked to pay for the rest of it. It’s misleading, and frustrating. With Mario Kart, that isn’t the case. The game is completely free, without ads, and the only things you can pay for are for Coins and Rubies. You aren’t constantly asked to pay, in fact, it doesn’t even suggest you pay for them. Coins are relatively easy to obtain, with some patience required, and Rubies can be collected when you level up. This makes for a goal to work towards, without very much frustration. You can’t just go and get new characters and karts, you have to earn your way towards them, which is a very good feature that I appreciate having. The game itself is almost addictive. I keep coming back, because there’s seemingly endless courses, and you can go back to play any of them again and again to get more and more points. Basically, I’m in love with this game. I can’t wait until a multiplayer feature comes out, where you could potentially play with friends and see other’s scores on courses. Thank you for creating this game!!

Not obsessed. Hello I wanted to say that you are game is jazz and it takes way too long to load and I don’t like it and you’ll need to step it up and we need to choose which players we want to go against y’all don’t get to choose that and you shouldn’t be able to and I’m not trying to be mean it’s just I don’t like this part of this and it’s just what I do and I like this game and you’re lucky that I am not deleted it yet because y’all have just been not a big help and yourGame takes way too long to learn and I don’t like it it bothers me a lot and it’s just not what I like to see and you’re lucky I have not deleted your game and like it is just frustrating to play it’s hard to steer in the game and like you are just amazing game at but the next game you make please make it easier to play and make it way more obsessions and like the ratings have not been very good and I rated you a three out of five and I hope you’re happy because that’s all I have to say well actually it’s not because I will be sending more notes and more stuff so y’all could step up your a game and I just have not been very upset with your game and I don’t want to lead it and be mean to your company and you’ll have been very creative with this and I like that part but I don’t like the other part of it so you’ll just need to step up your game and I don’t really like it so y’all need to do something else about your game and I do not want to be mean that is for sure because I am a nice girl my name is Kennedy Ellen and I live in Pooler Georgia at 321 W. Collin St. and please don’t judge me because I am not trying to be mean.

Punished for things you can’t control. It’s all about chance. The place you hold in the competition cups are all about chance. In order to get the highest score possible you have to have the characters that give you 3 items per box because you NEED multiple “frenzies” to get that top score. But getting a frenzy is purely by chance so if the computer doesn’t give you the frenzies you need to boost your score then there’s nothing you can do to be in a higher place among the competitors. If you’re in 11th place or lower they take away one tier (I’m assuming that’s the equivalent of a skill level), so you’re punished for something you absolutely cannot control. Add this to the fact that rubies are hard to come by, unless you want to spend real money on them and you have to have a ton of rubies to get anywhere in the game (so you’re looking at having to spend literally hundreds of real dollars to keep up with the game and get anywhere). Plus there’s a limit on how many in-race coins you can collect in a day and a limit of how many EXP points you can earn in a day. Only certain characters are up for purchase on any given day... it’s not worth the time or the money they want from you. If you’re looking to play casually and want to remember the good-old-days of Nintendo then this game is fine but if you’re trying to keep pace... I hope you have a high toleration for frustration and the snail’s pace that you advance at. Unless of course you have hundreds of dollars to spend on a video game 🤷🏼‍♀️

!👍🏾. When I first saw that nintendo was releasing Mario kart on mobile is the best news I’ve heard so far as in mobile games couldn’t get any better. Don’t get me wrong the gameplay of the game is really fun the best experience also with the main menu and the shop all those features are really nice for. Than when I come to find out I have to upgrade the karts and the gliders and characters It’s alright I don’t have a problem with it. On what I do is that it would be better if we where allowed to get a little more coins than we do same thing with the gems just feels like I’m not getting enough for the items in the shop. Another thing is I wish there weren’t that many limits to stuff and wish we could get a little more rewards in the game like items to upgrade and more coins, same with the gems. Just hope these things would happen in later updates oh and another thing that would make the game a little better don’t end up making the game be a “pay to win game” that would make the experience even better. Hopefully more characters are added in the game and karts, gliders, maps and the multiplayer hope it’s like the same experience like the Nintendo switch but besides that great game lots of fun something really new.!!!

Love this Game...However. It’s been a while since I enjoyed a game like this on my phone, even as an Apple Arcade subscriber... I went ahead and ponied up for the Gold Pass about 1 month after starting Mario Kart Tour, and I’ve found that the value for Gold (Almost) made sense, you get access to a couple high level players, karts etc, and the extra loot from every gift box, as well as access to the 200cc courses, but that’s where the advantage stops. If you ever want to ace these courses (5 Star) from this point forward, it’s not so much a matter of your “skill” in play, as much as it is for the advantage gained by high level players, karts and kites that you would only access from the Pipe. Which means you need Rubies and Rubies are expensive and hard to earn without those higher level players... also the frequency of high level “wins” for plays is ridiculous IMO, i have spent over 1000 rubies on the pipes so far and it just feels like you come up short. This is why I chose to Cancel my Gold Pass, reset my profile and delete/uninstall Mario Kart Tour. Although I enjoyed the brief attempt at multi-player, I think I’ll stick to playing MK on my switch for the competitive feel. Maybe I’ll circle back around, but for now, the juice is not worth the squeeze.

PLEASE READ!!! DO NOT GET GOLD PASS. So I was so excited for the Mario Kart app because I used to play it as a child. As soon as I got the app I saw that I could pay $5 (Gold Pass) a month and get way more stuff to help me succeed in the races so I did. But wait that’s $5 a month! How ridiculous I pay $5 for hulu, spotify, and showtime and I cant pay $5 a month for a game. But I already paid so I decided to try it out. And so when you get gold pass it is way easier to get gems so you can use 45 gems to shoot 10 random items out of the cannon. Well I noticed that they usually give you maybe 1 good item and the rest are stuff you already have so you essentially are just wasting gems. And another thing is the store updates every 24 hrs and Ive noticed every time it updates it’s always things that I already have, nothing new. So it basically forces you to but the packages which are really expensive. And you can only gain up to 300 coins a day which is dumb, some races I gain 80 coins, so it also tries to force you to buy gems to get a coin rush... and then every two weeks there are new gliders, cars, and characters. and the previous ones do not go away they all keep adding and if the store doesn't give you an option to buy new ones and gold passes do not give you the characters either then how do you get them?? you have to pay for it. and it is very hard to win without a variety of items. so my gold pass expired and the store still didn't give me good items, just things i already have. very disappointed in this app. wish it was better

Good but needs work.. As much as I am addicted to Mario Kart, this app needs work. First off, the “pipe firing”. I feel like Nintendo is making it incredibly hard to get ultra rares or even the “spotlight characters” for some of the races. I believe this is completely unfair because in some races the only way your going to receive 5 stars is if you have the ultra rare character, karts, and gliders. Granted I am a gold pass holder and it still seems incredibly difficult to obtain the ultra rares or spotlight characters. Second off, the actual races themselves. I feel like Nintendo is constantly repeating courses to the point where it seems like every tour is the same with the exception of one new racing map. Also I hate how if you can’t obtain a character before the tour ends then they completely remove them from the pipe so you can’t even obtain them anymore unless they bring them back (which is beyond annoying and is less likely to happen). Lastly, the “daily selects” or the shop. Nintendo NEVER puts anything good in the shops. I always see duplicates of crappy characters that I already have or supers I already have. Very rarely will they have a ultra rare in the shop and if it’s a ultra rare it’s Metal Mario which they charge a ridiculous amount of coins for (12,000 coins to be specifically). Also rubies are super hard to come by in this game and the pipe is entirely luck based so you have a 1/100 shot of receiving something actually good and it’s 5 rubies everytime, and I also am adding that rubies are incrediblely expensive and overpriced so buying them is completely out of the equation for me since I already spend 60 dollars a year for the gold pass.

AMAZING!. Thanks so much Nintendo for launch Mario Kart to mobile devices, the game is pretty amazing, graphics and gameplay is pretty great too. The only thing that I’ve been catch it of this Mario Kart Tour version is that inclusive giving the membership not all the karts, characters and extras are available like on Nintendo. Also hope that on the nexts very soon updates Nintendo allowed or launched the option to play with our friends, that will be something pretty cool can play and challenge the people that got added like friends too, would be pretty cool too that they added most characters and features at their store and game too, lot of really big fans of this popular and pretty great worldwide video game would love a little bit more the game if Nintendo added most features and characters on the next updates. I know that Nintendo has making a lot launched their most classical games to mobile devices being so exclusive with their things and consoles, that makes them lose users I know and is something sad coz lot of people around the world just bought a Nintendo console just to play their most classics games and that is a big disadvantage to them I understand that. But if we see it in a positive way is something nice too coz not everyone got the money to buy a Nintendo console and is most easy to them just download the game on their Smartphones, is something that I’ve been seeing and catch it too. But the rest the game is pretty great, excellent graphics, pretty great and easy gameplay and the version is something really different and fresh from the rest of the commons Nintendo versions and editions, really love it 100% recommended for sure.

Good to pass time, but a complete cash grab.. I got the game the day it came out and was happy to see Mario Kart, but very quickly disappointed with the lack of similarities versus console Kart. The amount of grinding you put in isn’t worth the time, there’s little incentive to improve. This game is 100% targeted towards the player to buy to get better results and unlock load outs that you literally can’t achieve by constant play. You work for gems, just to realize when you do the 10x pipe shoot just to get items you already have to level up, there’s such a lack of variety for regular play for the amount of time I’ve spent playing. Every week I see the new characters and load outs and while it’d be cool to unlock, I’m simply not paying for it. You can be top rate at this game and get screwed by the algorithm, and without a top loadout you simply can’t get 5 stars on races later on in the cups unless you get a lucky frenzy. Mario Kart, especially against friends has a level of fun and competition to it that this game doesn’t offer. I’ve had many a games in 1st place to get hit with 2 bullets when I’m far ahead and with 2 laps you don’t have a chance deep into a race to win if you get screwed. So much more could have been done and if it were anything remotely similar to the console game I would have gladly paid for it to get it on my device. Overall the concept gets a decent rating, but being another in-app purchase machine you’ll just find yourself frustrated and against wanting to spend money with a game that offers very little reward.

Could improve. What I don’t like is that near the end of the 2 week tour I’ve beaten almost every cup, got ALL the gift boxes did every challenge I could do, and now I’m just bored. For some reason they stop giving you daily log ins after 10 days of the tour so I’m not getting anything from that, I’m not getting anything else from the challenges cause I’ve done all that I can do, it frustrated me that on the last two cups I literally COULD not get more than 4 stars because the limit was set so high (10,000) which I’ve never achieved on ANY map so it was impossible. So they made me not want to play. Also the tour challenge was easy the first time and extremely hard the second time. You can’t get high scores without having the frenzy character. It also bothers me that they set a limit on how many coins and level up points you can earn a day. I capped out after like 2 hours of playing Mario. So what’s the point of me even playing the rest of the day. I don’t even get the coins that I’m earning. It’s really hard to get 5 stars sometimes and I NEED to level up my karts and gliders and you cap me out after a certain amount and it’s really annoying. Really can’t wait for multiplayer so I can play with my friends. I would suggest being able to click on your friends to see what medals, drivers, karts etc they have and also maybe the points they’re earning on maps. I would enjoy that cause I’m competitive and it would make me want to play more to beat my friends and get more medals etc than them. The friends feature as it is is pretty pointless and I’d like more from that :/

Great game, but still needs some fixes.. I played this game for a month and a half when it first came out and I loved it, but then I stopped mainly because I got kinda bored of it and the whole p2w stuff was really bad in the first version. I’ve come back to it recently and I can see that they have definitely made this game more GACHA friendly by offering free pipes, rubies, coins, better shop items, and the devs occasionally giving out a lot of free rubies and coins via campaigns, they even offer bonuses for those who come back after a while which is just a cherry on top (although I think it may get removed in a future update idk.) Another thing I saw is that they kinda improved the controls a bit and added landscape mode so it looks and feels even better than it did before. And finally, they added a multiplayer mode so you have a reason to wanna play this game more often. Even with all of this new stuff added, there are still a ton of flaws with the game that I hope gets fixed in future updates such as the cpus having real people’s names, rubies STILL being very overpriced along with the bundles (seriously, who’s gonna play 20$ for a glider), and the fact that once you 100% the cups you can’t really do anything other than play multiplayer (and back then all you could do was replay them since there was no multiplayer) But with all of that out of the way, I think MKT is a solid game thanks to its updates. It still may have p2w mechanics but it’s still fun to play especially online with friends.

🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶👍🏻👍🏻. Where do I begin this game is awesome! I’ve had it for quite some time now it is awesome you don’t have to pay money for it at all. All you have to have is a Nintendo account . This game is the best game I have and it is my favorite . I have some things I would like to tell you about this game that I like. I love when they rank you they take your score and the one with the best one gets a lot of rewards it is so fun!! I can even have friends on here to. You can also do challenges and if you finish them all you get a reward My most favorite thing about this game and is probably yours to. You don’t have to watch any adds. Unlike my other games I don’t have to sit there wasting all of my time watching a stupid add for over half of my time. I don’t regret for a second that I wish I didn’t have this game I’m so glad I got it . I think you will be to if you get this game it doesn’t cost any money. I rate this game five stars cause they deserve it. Also you can earn coins and by cars, characters , and gliders and you can earn rubies with rubies you can shoot pipes and you get a free gift or you can do the coin rush and do a race and get a whole bunch of coins the only thing you have to pay for you don’t have to though. You can by the gold pass and get fun things. I don’t have any complaints at all. I think you should get this game please Mario Kart please post this so everyone can see that this is a great game. One more thing thanks Mario Kart for making the best game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😃😄😊😄😁😆☺️😊🙂😄😃😉

A long way to go. Mario Kart Tour has to be the best mobile Nintendo game as of right now and it’s not even fully done. I like how you can still play the complete game without even spending a dime. However, if you are a person that likes to complete game to a 100% I must say you gotta grind really hard or just be plain lucky, which leads to my other point MKT is heavily dependent on what you pulled from pipes due to the fact that you need certain characters to be able to hold 3 items at once, you also need certain cars to have 2x points and certain glider for combo 2x points, sometimes you won’t even reach enough points to get 5 stars in a race even if you finish first, I do understand that this system will keep more players playing the game for a longer time but it’s quite annoying have to play the same race over 20 times just to achieve 5 stars. Also the gold pass is quite expensive for what you are getting I’ll probably understand more if there were more rewards or just drop the price to $3. The last 2 things this game is missing is horizontal play and Multiplayer, the controls can be customize, but you can only play while holding your phone vertically and for Mario Kart players that’s quite a change since we are so use to holding the controller horizontally and having to press a button to drift, MKT changes the formula to something new and I gotta admit I’m into it but I would love it if players were given the chance to play horizontally instead of vertically. As for Multiplayer I just hope it’s soon I really can’t wait to race my friends like I used to do in Mario Kart for DS hopefully Nintendo doesn’t make us have to buy membership to race our friends.

Considerably Harder Without “Gold Pass”. As someone who has deactivated Gold Pass after two years subscribed; Mario Kart is considerably harder with the $5 a month subscription. One race I finished in first but the AI flew ahead as my wheels touched the finish line and the game observably changed “1st” to “2nd”. There have been far more projectiles experienced after discontinuing Gold Pass. I think Nintendo’s push for monetizing this game is strong. Due to the evident push for monetization for this game; I’d rather quit than resubscribe. After two years of premium prices the game has been slow to innovate or make any real changes. It feels like there’s only one new course per update and the rest of the courses are heavily recycled if the full tour is played. Nintendo rarely has sales across all their games and I can see that some of that is due to the care and innovation they install in their games. Where many games today are pushed out based on false pretenses and incomplete. However Nintendo’s premium prices do not seem justified for Mario kart and there appears to be more greed than innovation and care. The real life costs to clear a character pipe are insane and it’s only for a few select items. AND there’s more than one pipe at the same expensive rate each event. Mario Kart on the phone is just a big money grab from Nintendo in my opinion. I think Nintendo should re-evaluate Mario kart for mobile. Thank you if you took the time to read all this!

Exciting Mario Kart game but has some faults.. So far I’ve enjoyed this Mario Kart Game, I’ve had little to no difficulty in picking it up my first time and playing it. The selection of tracks is nice and has a pretty good roster of drivers, save for Luigi who is on the open screen despite not being added in the game yet. However, there are some drawbacks and issues this game has. First, the scoring system, in each race you can earn up to five gold stars to unlock more races and prize boxes, you get these stars by racking up points by doing various things in a race, it also depends on the character, kart, and glider the player is using, as certain ones will provide a better bonus than others. You can upgrade these but it’s a slow process. At first you have no time racking up a score and getting five stars, but in later races you really need the certain characters, karts, and gliders the race wants in order to really gain a high score. This can hamper progressing in the game. Second, the AI is a little unfair in the game because I’ve found myself in first place leading a race about to cross the finish line on that final race when all the sudden I overtaken by another racer. I even noticed this in challenges where a racer for no reason speeds up to be suddenly right behind me. This makes it frustrating to play the game sometimes, when you have a good lead in a race it should stay that way. Third, the controls, the game offers various ways to steer like using gyro and even has steering assist so you’re turning even if not steering properly. However, when you start turning, you instantly start drifting which doesn’t offer the best when you’re making tight turns.

Fun but.... This game is mostly great with its amazing amount of characters (to be fair it is a mobile game but still) but the game has a BUNCH of micro transactions it’s crazy like you can grind for “Rubies” or you can throw that all out the window and just pay a modest sum of around 20 $ not to mention you don’t even start out with MARIO you know the guy who’s name is in the dang title. MARIO kart. But hey it is a portable Mario Kart game *cough* *cough* Mario Kart DS,Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8 deluxe *COUGH* oh wow sorry. Anyway another problem is that there is no new tracks either, just existing one’s, except for the tracks that are real places like there is a Tokyo track there is also a New York City track, but I don’t really count those like they’re probably never gonna get used again sooooo. You also need to pay to play 200cc races and to get Rosalina (There is a “swimwear” version but they both look totally different.) The game also tries to trick you into thinking its multiplayer in single player when it’s obviously really not. Also you have to sign in a Nintendo account to even enter the tutorial, And that’s not even half all the problems with the game, but now your like “Well why did you rate it 4 stars then” and to that I, say the game is also just fun like really fun so I say that makes up for som of the bad stuff. The games is just so much fun to play plus now after the update you can now play the game online with your friends. So in the end get this game if you like Mario Kart and even if you do, still think about everything I just said.

Sick game but I’m hoping it stays that way. I’ve been playing this game for a few weeks. Absolutely no complaints about graphics, controls, gameplay etc. I even sprang for the ‘gold’ membership and I never do that. Problem now is, I’ve completed all of the recent cups and nothing new has been offered up in the last few days. I’m really not going to keep paying for something that doesn’t seem to update. I’m giving it 5 stars for now, just as benefit of doubt, but I’ll be cancelling my membership and deleting the app if the courses aren’t updated soon.

Slot machines for kids, its not even a game. The game is basically pay to win, also is the gacha element really necessary? And the monthly subscription, I’d rather buy a game than to pay for a subscription. I’m gonna play sonic instead, their graphic isn’t as good but at least it’s not pay to win and they support controllers. Oh, it’s also 7.99 per month too I, and many others, was hoping this game will be like the rest of Mario kart, where i can have a fun afternoon with my friends, this is so far from what we were expecting Edit: I found out they are programmed to let you win, you cant lose even if you don't touch the screen, so it’s not even a game. That makes it just a slot machine, and the age rating is 4+ makes it really disgusting. Hence changing my 3 stars rating to a 1 star.

Warning! Token would not be carried to the next event. To start with, this is a great game. I can see there has been a lot of hard work put into this game. The game was easy to play with and very fun. However, I wasn’t informed that the token I collected from my last event will not be available in the next event. Also, I wasn’t informed about the change of my event today. If Mario Kart Tour decides to change the event for me, I would appreciate if they can inform me that there are still some tokens left to be used before they do that. I had 147 token ready to be used but now they’re all gone. This is really frustrating, and definitely would be better if I had received an email or a notice before they gave me a new event.

Evolving the classic. Love the game and I think they did a good job in making it fast paced and not stagnant which I was really worried about. It’s a bit annoying that you can’t see the stats of the characters/cars. It’s all about points which makes it a tasteless victory and finally, the driving. Not a fan of the turning but I guess it works in the end and the real baffling bit is the “advanced controls” option. The car just skids every time and it’s not user friendly (even for a mario kart fanatic like myself). Overall, a brilliant phone rendition of a beautiful classic. Wonderful job Nintendo and thank you. I’ll always have a space in my heart for your games.

Nintendo - child gambling. Nintendo has always been staunch about families, children, fun, bringing people together. Unfortunately Nintendo is now about training children to be gambling addicts. Sure you can play the tiny repetitive game that is squeezed in between loot boxes, monthly passes and crisis inducing time limit sales. Of course all the best equipment either requires large amounts of coins or gambling (with pauline’s cleavage egging your child on) both kept behind steep pay walls. turns out you don’t even play the tiny race. you can win without touching the screen! worse, the match up to race is a fraud. the names might be real, but once the race starts they are all bots. how do i know? play the game around 20% battery, so the warning pops up - the whole game will pause until you dismiss the warning, with all “players” stopped. you should lose, or if it has you on rails, then it would snap forward. neither happen, it pauses. basically this game is disgusting and if operated as a physical business - it would be banned and the people who owned it put in jail for crimes against minors.

Fun P2W. The game is really fun and quite enjoyable, specially if you play with friends online (although connection issues may be present) That being said, do not be mistaken, this is a P2W (pay to win) game. By paying you get access to better prizes and other gifts that eventually put you ahead of the game relative everyone else. Then, keep in mind that this is NOT a game of skill. It doesn't matter how well you drift around and grab all coins, bonuses and complete a 'non-stop combo', you're still dependent on the " Frenzy" mode (name varies according to country) to score more points and get to that coveted first place in the rankings. This means that is pure chance and luck that will get you the right bonuses at the right time, just like the slot machines in a casino; very addictive and fun, but the house always wins, no matter what. Sometimes it has seemed to me that the game would almost do whatever it wants; controls get weird, unresponsive and I get bashed non-stop on the track, to then magically everything be perfect and I get rewarded with multiple, consecutive frenzy mode bonuses. Again, just like a slot machine in a casino. So yes, have lots of fun, bust as many shells and throw as many bananas as you want, but always be aware that this game has been designed and engineered to be addictive, fun and very persuasive in taking your money. At the current price for the gold membership, it might be fun for a couple of months, but then it starts to become expensive very quickly. However, all the in-game purchases are just way too expensive. If you get this game for you or your kid(s), try to make them clear for them (or yourself) that this is an endless game, thus a potentially infinite money pit. Consider it borderline gambling.

Super fun but still some problems. This is a great phone game, I’m not much of a phone game person but the Nintendo team have done a great job on this one. However, there are a few issues I’ve experienced: 1. A few times a day while I’m playing, the game will crash either before, during or right after a race. It’s super frustrating but I understand that the app is still being fine tuned, it’s not something that I can’t deal with. 2. The more frustrating thing is that there’s been a few times that I’ve earned rubies from the presents unlocked with stars, but they’re not added to my account!! It’s hardly fair if we don’t even get the bonus rubies we’re entitled to in the game. 3. Also, what happened to daily rewards?? It’s so hard to stock up on rubies and tickets etc. now. I don’t know if you guys have stopped it or is it just not working for some people? Anyway it’s a great game, just needed to get those things off my chest. Keep up the great work Nintendo!

Great game, 10 out of 10.. LOVE this new instalment to the MARIO kart series. It have everything you could hope for. Or does it? Random things have happened since the demo. Like characters such as Rosalina, Baby Rosalina, EVEN LUIGI have gone missing. Like those 3, the coopalings (I don’t know how to spell it) aren’t in the game like some arrivals said. I hope that these people get added in future tour (like Pauline and music mario) Or update. Another thing is the courses.i get that it’s a mobile game so they can’t be long ones, but why don’t you just make new ones. I was soooo excited when I saw NYC but then it popped up again... but with added boosters and ramps. Then again. And again. And so on. It gets a bit tiring. Please listen to us, Nintendo! Add Rosalina (my favourite);) add new tracks!!! (Suggestion for a track: a version on the bowsers castle from the wii — the one with the giant bowling bowser) And please do your best!!!! Thank you for a amazing game though!

Some improvements that could be made.. I’ve been playing this game for a while and it’s an awesome game for sure, but there are some things I would like the developers to change which is why I’m not giving it a 5 star. Firstly, I don’t understand why we aren’t allowed to grind experience for our characters, karts and gliders. My point is, why is there a limit to the amount of experience you gain per day? Secondly, as you get a higher tier in the weekly ranking tournament, it gets way too hard to actually beat the other players or CP in the tournament and get a better score than majority of them. I’ve gotten 5 star on all the courses in the cup but I’m still at least 20,000 points away from the top player or CP! The competition is just getting way too hard and now the only way I can get gems to pull from the pipe is by claiming the daily rewards that only give me 5 gems at a time or slowly opening presents from earning enough grand stars during cups. Although they do give you quite a lot of gems overall, my point is that the competition in the weekly ranked tournament is too hard. I would really appreciate it if the developers would take this into consideration. It would be the absolute best if they could apply these changes but they probably won’t just listen to one person, so I would like them to at least understand what one of their players are feeling about their game with this review, if any of them even see it.

Great Game With One Major Flaw. I enjoyed this game very much, but after a while it becomes quite repetitive like most games which makes you lose interest. One of the biggest reasons for Mario Karts success was due to its multiplayer function. I love playing against my friends. I enjoyed the ranking system but multiplayer was promised to come out soon but you would imagine it would of been released when the game was initially released or at least a month after due to it being a major function. Overall the quality of the game is superb and it runs smoothly for me. Hopefully the developers priority is releasing multiplayer, I think it would increase not only its profits overall but its gameplay. So I believe it would be a win win for both the players and the developer. Have a good day.

Better then originals. I’m a massive original oldskool and newskool Mario Kart player and I was skeptical at first to play this on Mobile. However they’ve enhanced the graphics and the gameplay somehow. Sure you’re not playing with a controller but for what they’ve done with the controllers it’s quite good once you get used to it. And the best part is the gameplay. It’s still got that MK feel. I haven’t paid for any upgrades there is heaps to do for free here. The only thing I’m not so sure on is the online play and whether it’s in real-time which I don’t think it is as of yet.

Lost It’s Charm— I hope multipayer comes soon. Micro-transactions make the game feel inauthentic. Impossible to simply enjoy racing for first place. This new points-based system has gotten out of hand. The game is essentially unplayable unless you have a special kart or driver or glider. Most of these are purchased (not won) which again makes the game feel inauthentic. It’s clear that you are racing against bots and not in real-time. This is why everyone is so desperate for the multiplayer version. JUST GIVE ME MULTIPLAYER Also what is the deal with having to wait days to move onto the next cup? It says the cup is closed for maintenance but you can instantly play the new cup as long as you purchase a ‘quick ticket’ (again with these micro transactions) Whenever I am playing I know that the game would be so much more enjoyable if: 1) I didn’t have to race for points that are dependent on how many power ups I use or how many combos I make... which driver/car/glider... what is wrong with 1st, 2nd, 3rd??? 2) Wasn’t bombarded with all of these micro transactions 3) Didn’t feel terrible every time I CAME FIRST PLACE yet didn’t collect enough points to earn more grand stars or whatever. Just every time I play I feel disappointed... but I keep coming back because I love Mario Kart so much. I just wish that a more authentic gaming experience was promoted rather than having to open my wallet to have a good time PLEASE I JUST WANT MULTIPAYER

Fantastic version but can be repetitive. Have been playing this for ages now and have a few suggestions: when you get past a certain player level the reward should be rubies since it takes awhile to acquire points. Also the cups are getting a bit boring and repetitive, right now it’s the autumn cup with the same 3 tracks repeated just with different variations & it has been like this for a few months now. I’m bored of playing the capital city tracks over & over. I feel like I haven’t raced rainbow road in ages. Perhaps mix in some of the original tracks with the newer versions.

Great Job Nintendo!. Great way to get Mario & Friends out there, makes so much sense to call it MK Tour! My partner and I Love the new characters, karts, races and themed tours. Gold Pass is fair giving collectors and fast paced gamers, Limited Time items, a boost in upgrading race parts and playing the game at a faster pace. A little tweaking to some couple known issues like, the point system for upgrading Characters, Karts and Gliders base levels is quite slow, giving you more XP by putting up the ‘XP limit for the day’ would be more thrilling. Maybe giving the player with/and without Gold Passes, even more quests to do, with coins instead of Ruby’s and Shines, to give casual players more prizes and experienced players more chances to play to tie over time until the next tour comes out. Overall, amazing everything. Huge game! Just in my pocket. Great Job Nintendo! Ps: Neat how you added shines as a call back ;)

Why bother.. The latest updates sees limits on everything - this was already a painfully grindy game, and they’ve made it worse. You’re already limited on daily coins, and rubies are difficult to come by - now you can’t even raise your player level experience if you’ve maxed out on a track, FOREVER. At least if it reset per tour that would be something. I also seem to get nothing but standard prizes in the pipe now - given the odds I should be getting one or two gold, but no. Tiers have changed so only 1st and 2nd go up 2/3 tiers. This means I’ll have to wait at least 7 WEEKS to get to fulfil the challenge of Tier 30 if I don’t come 1st, 2nd or last. And let’s not even talk about the level boost ticket challenge. You’re not encouraging me to buy a gold pass, you’re encouraging me to stop playing. Playing 1000’s of races with little reward is boring. Dull. Pointless.

LOVE THE GAME! Nintendo makes video games into our smartphones in a creative way!. The fact that this game is the best it’s still point out a few references that I love when it was in the video game console: 1. Gyro-Control Ever since the Wii was released gyro-control made the experience feel & look better but today you’ve proven that you’ve made it better by adding this feature in the game & making ourselves more comfortable to play with. Also tbh I haven’t even tried an Xbox one controller on Mario kart but maybe next time. 2. Classic levels I really love the levels because some of these feel like nostalgia & to be fair some of the levels come from different games (e.g. Super Mario Odyssey) 3.GRAPHICS (IMPROVED A LOT!) When it comes to Nintendo they just don’t depend on JUST one device they depend on all devices by optimising graphics & making it look more better when I tried this on the iPhone 5s it still was playable in a decent 30 frames & didn’t had any lag at all! If we compare to newer phones we could see that the optimisation of these phone definitely stands out great! 4. Rewards Nintendo gives us rewards in different games which in fact started when Miitomo released calling the rewards program My Nintendo which is great! So I hope you love this comment I’m sorry if I wasted you’re time a little bit but I hope you appreciate it and I hope we’ll give you the best of luck Nintendo! -Ynigo Nintendo Fan

One of the most fun games in the store, until you hit the paywall.. This games has the classic mariokart feel and performs well. I loved playing it for the 3 hours I got out of it until I hit the paywall. The game is crazy expensive compared to other games, and only provides a monthly subscription. I’ve paid up to $30 to buy other games like civilisation, but a monthly service is ridiculous when it costs as much as many video streaming services. At a point in the game, even if you have 4-5 stars for all other circuits, you cannot race any new circuits without high point racers that you have to pay for, or win by paying for jewels in a lottery kind of draw. Super disappointed I won’t get to keep playing. Add commercials or something, I’m not going to pay a monthly subscription.

Shameless cash grab. Let me start off by saying that I am a long time Mario Kart fan, I first started playing when I received a Nintendo DS and Mario Kart for Christmas not long after it was released. Since then I have religiously played it to this day, completing the DS and 3DS versions of the game many times with 100% 3 stars on everything possible. The allure of the vibrant graphics, funky soundtrack, immersive racetracks, and gripping gameplay + multiplayer has always kept me coming back to the series sooner or later, so I was quite excited when I heard about the mobile version of Mario Kart being released. I have played about 6-10 hours of Mario Kart Tour since it came out and have completed 14 Grand Prix so far. I am now getting to the stage where receiving rewards has grinded to a halt, and you need the correct car/glider/driver for each racetrack to even get close to the required points for 5 stars. As I’m sure you are aware by now, you can use the in game gambling mechanic known as “the pipe” to receive additional cars/gliders/drivers, which costs rubies to fire, and rubies cost real world money. Although this is a standard mobile game mechanic by now, which is acceptable to a degree, the level at which Mario Kart Tour employs this mechanic makes the game feel cheap, unfair, and totally against the moral fibre Nintendo seems to pride itself on. What had the potential to be a great mobile version of a game I love so much has been tainted by greed. 2 out of 5 stars.

Bad Choice By Nintendo, here’s why:. Nintendo has always been a large part of people’s childhood, being played on the “DS” systems and the “WII” consoles. Putting on Mobile will only decrees the value of the DS and WII, therefore less people will buy it, which means less money for Nintendo. In my opinion, I think putting the Mario-Kart game on mobile takes the fun out of playing it on the WII and The DS consoles. It was a poor decision by Nintendo, and people are too gullible to see it. After all, I have to say that this is my opinion and there is no need to take it seriously. It’s just what I think, and I think it’s fair to have a say on the internet. The game itself is alright, but I would much rather play it on the DS and the WII. This is my opinion, I think some people should at least consider it.

Great game!. I enjoy playing Mario Kart Tour, and what makes it unique is the fact that you can race on courses inspired by the real world. I am all good with touch controls, but I would like to see a horizontal mode. In addition, while people say the micro transactions ruin the game, I don’t care about them. It’s all about the actual gameplay. Also, I find the CPU players (They are actually not real players!) just too easy for me and I wish I could choose a harder difficulty in which doing so would win more points. Thanks again and I look towards all the further updates and tours!

Worst de sync ever.. Terribly coded. The fact I can be playing next to someone sitting right next to me and I know what they have “1 banana” and I shoot two red shells at them and they don’t get hit? Terrible. Also when players run into shells and bananas on your back, it is a 25% chance that they will actually get hit. They have also just used the item on your back so once they do overtake you, you no longer have items to use… But when I run into one I always get hit. Also lighting removing all of your items is stupid. Basically if you are in first place you are already punished enough by being smaller for longer. But you take my items away. Since 2nd place and after haven’t gone past the item box yet they still get items and you are a sitting duck. You can’t even stop someone from over taking or defend yourself. Dumb. It was not like this in the original Mario kart and it’s a stupid feature implemented to help people that are bad at the game. Getting double coins when coming first place is a slap in the face for being half good. Where 2nd place is more then likely going to be getting double red shells. The item loot needs to be changed and balanced. Basically if you are someone who has a competitive side and half a brain to know what is going on, don’t play this game. Because you will be punished with no means to come back, and mid pack players will be the ones that come first. Because it’s the 2020 rule of making games bias for terrible players. The de sync and pole position luck in this game makes it so frustrating to play and a piece of trash.

okay game, nintendo is lying to us. i really enjoy this game, especially since i can practically play it anywhere, however i’m extremely disappointed about the changes made. to begin every race is only 2 laps, and does not differentiate between cause like in the older and newer titles. to continue mario is also not a default character? mario is the embodiment of nintendo yet he isn’t a starting character? to top it all off nintendo has not yet released an online multiplayer mode yet. instead, tricking you into believing you are playing with other people by randomising usernames of who you play with. this is EXTREMELY disappointing and i hope the online feature will be available rather soon. i was pondering on the thought that maybe the single player mode is kind of like time trials, but their is no way to see how long it takes you to complete a course. anyways, i hope to see this game improve in the feature, overall 3/5 stars. <3

Only Good for So Long. At first, I was really excited while playing the game. But now to even get high scores, you have to buy the specific carts/drivers/gliders or spend all your gems on a game of chance to win any of the mentioned items. Or buy the subscription gold pass service. Multiplayer mode is still pretty dodgy (connection and gameplay wise) plus you can only access one public room (if you’re not willing to pay for the gold pass) or play with friends in local mode. At the end of the day, to be completely satisfied with the game, you best get that wallet out. Otherwise you’ll be left in the dust of those willing to pay $40+ for a game pack that includes one cart and 5 gems.

Pretty good so far.. (Please note I am writing this review during the FIRST TOUR and my complaints may be fixed in a future update.) So far, the game is alright. It controls well and runs surprisingly smoothly, but that doesn’t mean it is devoid of issues. Firstly, microtransactions. They aren’t so bad compared to other gaming companies (EA I’m looking at you) but most features such as 200cc and literally playing as Nintendo’s flagship character are locked behind a paywall. Secondly, the game can be misleading at times. A big example of this is Luigi. He appears in the promotional art / the title screen, but is unplayable in the game itself. As well as this, the game has a facade of playing with other people. When you join a race, it randomly generates names for each of the racers to create an illusion of playing with other people. However, it’s not that bad if you just ignore it. Finally, your lengths. Each tour lasts 2 weeks, which is unnecessarily long. I get that Nintendo needs time to make new courses for the next tour, but I feel as if the tours could be a day or two shorter. Overall, this game plays very well but has some flaws that could be improved.

The game is great... but not perfect. I am a HUGE fan of the Mario Kart series. It’s always been apart of my life since I was little. Mario Kart Tour got me interested, despite micro transactions. The game is great to play, just like a regular Mario Kart entry... if I could actually play a majority of it that is. Maybe it’s because I’m using an older device (iPad Air) but the game is almost unplayable sometimes. My main issue is that when I choose specific tracks, it crashes the entire app while loading it after a few seconds, kicking me out to try again. If that track doesn’t load, it doesn’t load for good. This means that I am limited to the amount of Grand Stars I can get, thus missing out on Tour Gifts as I play. This also means that I can’t finish all the cups, meaning the All Clear Pipe is inaccessible. If someone from Nintendo is reading this review, please, PLEASE look into this. I want to spend as much time with Mario Kart Tour as any other game in the series but the app just doesn’t want me to see a lot of what the game potentially has in store me. Please fix this as soon as you see this review. From a Nintendo fan for as long as he can remember.

Fun ! But few suggestions. I’ve already gotten addicted to this game, but there’s a few things I would change in the game. I think the maximum amount of coins you can earn in a day should at least be 500, and not 300. It would be a lot more convenient if we could add friends through their usernames and not through codes that are hard to share. And I think there should be more available to purchase with coins. But overall, the gaming experience so far has been great and a lot of fun, except the maintenance waiting times.

Love it… but needs just one or two little tweaks. This game is really good, I have been racing since the start and I have seen it’s gotten better and better. There is one thing though… it’s to do with getting drivers. A lot of the courses now require you to have the ‘high end’ drivers. Fair enough, but they are soo hard to get. This poses a problem for new people who have one or two drivers and struggle to get Grand Stars, meaning that they don’t have as many rubies/ coins. Also, in the pipe you can only get 100 things, this means that many of the drivers you cannot get until they are featured in another tour. Meanwhile, all the courses tell me I need them, but have no way of getting them since they are not in the pipe, or Daily Selects (which for us longtime players is useless) and rarely in the tier shop. I am sure that many “racers” would appreciate a change here. Also, there are SO MANY NEW RACES NOW, it would be really nice if every race was different. (Not just wow, there’s a new jump here!) In your Singapore tour Singapore Speedway came up multiple times in a cup. (Ok, we get it, it was a cool track…) Meanwhile, Ninja Hideaway hasn’t come up for ages! The fact that it is MK ‘tour’ means that yes… it means that we can’t access every single race ever converted for iPad/ iPhone etc use. It would be great if we could, though… (hint, hint) Thank you for taking the time to read to the end. ;)

Worth the wait :). I pre-ordered the game a few weeks back and this morning I was super excited to find that it had installed yet when I opened it, it said that the game was still under maintenance which I see a lot of people complaining about. For me it had a time for when the game will be finished (which for me was 7.00 at night) so I waited and, well, it was done! I have been playing it literally non-stop ever since and it’s literally everything I had hoped for. It’s heaps of fun and the graphics are stunning. Really amazing game and definitely worth a higher rating!

💵Pay to win cash grab 💵. While I find this game quite fun to play, ,I find it disgusting how much they charge in real dollars, for very little in game value. If you were to spend your hard earned money on the maximum amount of in game currency, you could easily spend that on randomly drawn items (including ones you may already have) in under a minute. In saying that I’m not against Nintendo making money from this game. I can appreciate paying a once off, or a small monthly fee to unlock some extra perks. For a game heavily marketed to kids, what I find appalling is the heavy reliance of gambling mechanisms, to be able to get anywhere in the game. It’s because of this I can’t in good conscience give this game any more than one star, although I really enjoy the actual gameplay. Nintendo used to be so wholesome. What changed? You use to be cool.

Best mobile game I’ve played but please fix.... Best mobile game I’ve played. Better than a lot of games I’ve played. Really well adapted for mobile and the daily/weekly challenges are an awesome idea to keep you coming back. Please though. Can you disable the iOS reach-ability swipe down function when in game. Sliding your finger around the bottom of the screen constantly means I’m having to undo the screen dropping down. Very annoying. And don’t want to have to keep turning this function on and off myself.

my dreams came trueeee ⭐️🍄🍌⚡️. When I was younger I used to play on my Dads old Nintendo 64 console and play Mario Kart for hours unimaginable, so when this game came out I was over the moon. You guys have recreated the original versions really well, keeping tradition but also adding more modern features. The fact that courses based on real places are available is really great and also how levels do get harder as you move forward. Like I said me and my family did play the old Mario Kart a lot and we really enjoy the competitive leaderboard amongst friends. Something I would love to be added is trading karts, gliders and drivers with friends/other players. I think this would be a great way to get rid of things you think you don’t need or get things you want. It’s a win win for both people involved in the trade. From the Peach abscessed Mario Kart player.

Amazing!. I just want Nintendo to know that I’d love nothing better than to trade school for a whole day of sitting in bed, cranking up the music and racing through the day in Mario Kart Tour! Characters are so cute: Baby peach, Baby daisy, baby Mario... I love firing up the pipe to get them! I get super mad when I’m knocked back but hey, don’t I do that to other people too? My main concern though is that I really wanna race my friends. I’m sure multiplayer would bump up the ratings and you’d have no more haters! To whoever is reading this, parents or kids, please get this game for you or your child! I recommend it!

very fun, but there’s something off about it. you’re not playing against real people. their behaviour along with the timing and other issues of races prove this. i’d love to be playing against real people. knowing the races are completely fake makes me lose trust for the game. i don’t know whether leaderboards consist of actual people, nor do i know what the purpose of friend lists are, other than to compare scores. the game is very fun, but i can tell i’m going to eventually lose interest in it, because i’m not playing against real people and i may never get to. there’s a multiplayer option on the menu screen, but that isn’t even available yet. isn’t the point of Mario Kart that you race with your friends and other users? why is there an unusable multiplayer option on the menu screen? the game should be multiplayer in the first place. i should be playing with real people. but i’m not, and so i can’t say much good about the game other than that it’s fun. i do appreciate that there are no ads, and that the app is free and easy to run. but i’d like to see a horizontal option in future. playing the game vertically isn’t terribly difficult, but it doesn’t make much sense. the menu screen also seems kind of messy, but that’s probably just a matter of my own eye. the game itself can also be glitchy and the controls are confusing. if i happen to win coins or rubies, only sometimes will i actually get them. i’ve seen others complain of this and the game crashing very often too. also, where is luigi? :(

Poker / Slot machine pretending to be Mario Kart. After completing the simple ‘Mario Cup’, it became obvious the game was inspired by gambling. Listen in a casino - the machines make quick and stimulating sounds. When you “pull the pipe” for 5 rubies (Nintendo’s terminology for a spin), the game rewards you with an accessory for your car. But players can gamble more rubies (15) for 10 pulls of the pipe. Each reward is labelled as something encouraging - “HIGH END!” This makes you think maybe one more pull (ugh) and maybe I’ll win something even more rare. The sound effects and graphical flourishes are just like what you get in casinos. Only here it’s marketed as the number 1 racing app for families. Hmm. I’ll go get more rubies to pull the pipe for 10 more rounds.

Fun but kind of disappointing (so far). So I really enjoyed the game at first. Its loads of fun as mario karting always is but slowly the flaws came out. You can only earn a certain amount of exp. and coins a day... not very fun. You can’t just play through the whole game as you have to wait days for new cups to unlock... not great either. There’s not a whole lot of maps to race on? Just the same few maps with some changes here or there.. also draining from the overall fun scale. And i normally buy some extras with these kinds of games, and i have already, but these are a little expensive for what you get, which is a bit of a bummer too.

Multiplayer had so much potential.. Multiplayer feels very lacklustre; there is absolutely no incentive to ever go back to multiplayer unless with friends because of the nature of how the game is designed. There is no sense of diversity because the game encourages the player to pick the most suitable character and the problem with that is that the gameplay within multiplayer feels unfinished, it feels mundane. Typically everyone plays as the same character and the game doesn’t reward you on your racing skills, rather racking up the most number of points at any given map. Instead of focusing on character selection, go back to the roots of Mario Kart; make it so that you can’t change characters after every map because honestly, everything feels the same. Or better yet, go back to one item per item box, at least in multiplayer. I honestly would rather play in the single player cups than on multiplayer, unless I’m playing with my friends. There is so much potential wasted; the single player was fine because the AI didn’t pick the same sets of characters at least.

High quality but very much pay-to-win. The good parts: Good art and music and reasonably fun controls. Lots of tracks that change out often. The overwhelming bad: If you try to play free-to-play, the game nags you often to spend money, and is VERY stingy on progression if you aren’t paying the monthly fee for Gold Pass. The “microtransactions” to buy extra rubies are insanely expensive - for the price of less than a half dozen high end drivers, karts, or gliders in the Australian market, you could actually get a Switch, a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and all the DLC for it. And the game is designed so that High End drivers (and karts and gliders) are the only ones worth anything, and they can usually only be purchased with rubies. The silver “normal” tiers are nearly completely useless, and the gold “super” ones are only rarely good.

PAY TO WIN!. If you’re hoping to win and enjoy this game but don’t have as much money as everyone else, don’t download. Like all things, the innocent Mario franchise has succumbed to the greedily starving trend of pay-to-win, such a shame. I was really into this at the start and loved playing it until I started to notice that this game is rigged to encourage your children to gamble. In this, ‘swipe your card and try your luck’ system, we find users being forced to pull a metaphorical lever on a slot machine in order to win. Now in order to put your hand in the lucky dip bag of Mario Kart you’re gonna have to cough up a sizeable chunk of your average wage first, because you’re gonna need to buy yourself some rubies! Rubies are approximately $0.60, each! Now this doesn’t seem like much until you consider the fact that you need 5 of them to have the chance to win a singular item. In this gamble with your ‘one pull of the lever’ you have roughly a 1-4% chance of winning anything as fast or point accumulating as everyone else, well that seems fair if you can afford it. Now let’s say you opt to practice to get really good at the game to win by mastering every track and every move just the way Mario Kart has always been, wrong. I hate to say it but if you’re a parent you’ll be left explaining the harsh truth of ‘money wins every time’, kiddo. So if you were searching for a child-friendly, enjoyable and sportsmanlike cooperative game then you haven’t found it. Very sorry, breaks my heart too. Oh and thanks, Nintendo! 😄👍

Pretty cool! Could use some work though. Played the first cup so far and first impressions are that it’s a pretty good app. I mean I never thought I’d ever be playing Mario kart on an iPad it’s so cool. Although just some suggestions. The kart is rlly hard to control like sometimes you want to go one way but the kart goes the other way and also sometimes when your steering the game gets confused and thinks that you want to use an item which is kinda annoying at times. Plz fix this by maybe using a different mechanism for the steering like for example tilting the iPad in the direction you want to go or have a small steering wheel in the corner of the screen that you can steer with just so the game doesn’t get confused and makes you use an item when you don’t want to. Also adding multiplayer would be really cool cause I mean that’s what Mario kart is all about. playing with your friends. Also the graphics are a bit pixelated not sure if that’s just because I’m using a larger device (an iPad Pro 12.9) or whether it looks like that on all devices. Apart from that it’s rlly cool though I love how the cups are based on places around the world

Don’t fall for micro transactions. Mario Kart mobile is incredibly addictive. It looks amazing graphically compared to previous Mario kart games. It’s updated regularly with new drivers, karts and gliders. The catch is, in this game, to win you need to get points. And to get points you need to have the right drivers and karts for each course. This drives the sales of micro transactions which aim to sell relatively useless in game items for exorbitant prices (as high as $60 for small bundle). These in game purchases are almost literal theft as you get next to nothing of worth in game for your money. Theres also a loot box system with equally high costs for effectively little chance at improving in the game. Putting aside the in game purchases this game is actually really fun. Lots of new power ups have been included making races even more fun than before. New courses and variations on courses bring fresh gameplay every 2 weeks. I don’t know how to end this review. Don’t get caught by Nintendo’s money trap.

C0cONuT mALL!. Love your game and love your franchise. It’s become so well known and so fun that everyone knows who Mario is. Especially Mario kart. And when I heard coming to mobile, I was very excited. However it doesn’t really bring what the old consoles did. If there was a way where instead of just hosting a room and heading right in to a random map, maybe you could do what every other Mario game does and have a map selection, if you are picking that map or that certain cup. Now trust me, there are so many maps in this game, and some characters excel in some of them, you would never be able to play all of the maps if you can’t choose, put those maps to use. Another thing with online is the friends, if there was a way to turn off AI so only your friends can play together that would be great. One last thing. We all want one certain map brought back to life. Now hear me out, this might be a bit of a stretch but everyone loved the coconut mall. It might of become a meme, but that might be a way to get more people to play. The iconic music and scenery, I would love to see it moving on from the old wii console. Thanks for listening! Hope that all my suggestions (I know a lot)is considered as I really want to be picking and choosing coconut mall, and playing with all my friends laughing throughout the track. Thanks!

I Love this game. I started playing around the Easter tour and since I always played Mario kart wii I already knew most of the controls, and got used to the new ones easily. Since then I have played everyday. I always wish to get new characters, and so far, every tour has given me at least 1 new character. Plus this new tour is exceptional. I have always wanted donkey Kong jr in this game, since I am very into the 80s, even though I'm only in my early teens but even though I have never played donkey Kong jr I am a big fan of it, so seeing it come into the game was awesome. Plus it's pixelated like the old video game! I just hope I get donkey Kong jr SNES or at least Mario SNES. This is my favourite game especially for a mobile game. I dont have the gold pass, because I don't have much money but I hope I can soon because I would love to have the gold pass. Thank you for cheering me up nintendo.

Progress resets every 2 weeks. As a casual player, I'm frustrated that my progress is reset to the easy races every 2 weeks. Each time I log on, I have one track available with no challenge. Even if I spent money, I can't unlock more fun races. Rather than resetting progress, I propose this to allow players to progress. In each tour, remember how many gold stars are earned in each cup (out of 18.) At the end of the tour, these gold stars become silver stars in the relative cups of the next tour, and contribute towards unlocking cups. Cups unlocked by silver stars are immediately playable, without completing prior cups. If a player earns gold stars in a cup that has silver stars, only the gold stars in excess of the silver stars are counted. So if in the first tour you earned 18, 17 and 12 stars in the first three cups, then you would start the second tour with 47 silver stars. In the second tour, third cup, earning 15 gold stars would give 3 more stars for unlocking cups, which would carry on to future tours. Gifts are only unlocked by gold stars, not silver stars. This way you don’t start the tour with a bunch of unlocked gifts, you still have to earn them. Tour Challenge stars are reset each tour, meaning you might fall back one or two cups, but not lose all of your progress.

It wasn’t broken before - but now it needs fixing.. When it first released this app was so amazing. It was one of the few apps with in game purchases where I felt it was worth it to pay for the subscription. But over the past few updates, the rewards for gold pass members have become pretty meagre and so I’ve cancelled my subscription. The prizes from pipes have also lately been terrible - I pulled all the items from a pipe and the best prizes didn’t come until the very last pull. From talking to other players, it seems like this is what happens once you’ve been playing for a while - you get hooked and then you rarely get anything good from pipes. Final complaint is that the tours haven’t been great for a while. It was really fun when there were tours from around the world (although Vancouver was a kind of strange choice) and I was looking forward to more world locations with fun characters and races. Waiting to race in locations like Australia, Machu Picchu, and various parts of Africa. All that aside, it’s still a pretty fun game on the free version. The graphics are great and it’s a nice throwback. It’s just not the kind of game you are drawn to keep playing or spend money on, especially in comparison to what it used to be.

DONT PLAY ONLINE. Nintendo is yet once again not capable of producing a game with good online-play capabilities! Isn’t that the point of Mario Kart “Tour”? The Kart Pro challenge (3 wins in a row online play) is impossible - several times I had 2 wins and joined a 3rd game and it failed. WHICH RESET THE STREAK. Bro, get good I really wanted to enjoy Mario Kart Tour, but unfortunately, it’s a huge disappointment. The controls are clunky and not as responsive as they should be, making it frustrating to play, especially during tighter races. The game heavily pushes microtransactions, with tons of content locked behind paywalls or random loot boxes, which makes progression feel more like a money grab than a fun experience. The constant push for "premium" passes and in-game purchases takes away from the enjoyment, and it’s really hard to ignore how much the game tries to squeeze money out of you. The AI also feels unfairly difficult at times, and it's hard to make any meaningful progress without spending money or grinding for hours. Overall, Mario Kart Tour feels more like a cash grab than a well-designed racing game, and I can’t recommend it.

Very pay to win but fun. You have to pay a subscription for the 200cc mode and there are tiers in the game where you can verse other people in that tier to get the highest score and you can’t get as high as the people who pay the subscription because you get left with 50 to 150cc and this gives everyone with 200cc a advantage they don’t even need skill they can just pay to win and then your stuck at the same crappy tier the game is fun but it should be for the tier based cups that you get 200cc for free only for those races until the time runs out then you get left with your 150cc score (please Nintendo give us 200cc for the tier based races for that limited time)

A great game, however wish they fixed some things up. A great game with many different characters and engaging levels. The controls are nice and easy to use with rarely any glitches. Many different weapons of choice which are very unique and make this game fun and entertaining. There are a few issues however such as constantly getting the same characters every single day which takes a while for me to make a single purchase for any vehicle, character and parachute and personally I wish it was 3 laps rather than 2. Sometimes the levels and challenges do get very repetitive. I also wish that the multiplayer was for all players, not just for the gold cup users. I wish every character is available for purchase when you want, not only having daily selections. I also wish they include the star as a item from the crates for all characters.

Some people are just impatient.... I absolutely adore this game and it’s amazing! I honestly don’t understand why people are complaining about things like: the maintenance time, the fact there’s no multiplayer feature, etc.. I’ve had absolutely no problems with the steering and the graphics are absolutely amazing. As for the multiplayer feature if you actually look in the menu there’s a multiplayer button that says it’s coming soon, you guys need to remember that this game has just come out and is still being worked on.

Good fun, until you get blue shelled 3 times in a row.. Mario Kart Tour is pretty great, it puts the classic Mario Kart game we all know and love onto our phones so that we can all play without having to go buy a switch or other console. Mario Kart is fun, but it’s too much about luck for my tastes, the getting a lucky pill from the pipes will give you an advantage over everyone else and the good players who manage to maintain first place get compliantly decimated, because they are the focus on all further back items, red green and blue shells are horrifying, the worst part is there really isn’t a way of avoiding a blue shell other than a “Super Horn” Red shells can be blocked with items on the back of your cart, as can green but if you happen to pull only coins, which you very likely will there’s not a thing you can do. Plus, you can’t save a Super Horn because there are parts of the map where you are forced to pick up item blocks. This is one of the most frustrating mechanics. I have had too many experiences where I maintained 1st place throughout the duration of a game only to be shelled by all the other players/AI and have gone 5th to 8th. This means that there is no guarantee that skill will win you a game, but more so luck. This lack of consistency just doesn’t settle with me well, plus the idea that some lucky people or people who spend lots of money will win over everyone else. Buying items I can get behind, Nintendo have to make their money somehow, but it can still be a bit game breaking at times. Over all, I have had both a good and a frustrating time with this game. The problem with this inherent frustration is it isn’t an obstacle the can be conquered, there’s no getting better, it’s getting luckier or spending more money. That’s the only way I can further control the result of any game.

Game is phenomenal, BUT.... Bullet Bills last a good amount of time. Most of the time. I just had one last me literally two seconds. I was in 8th when I got it, I was in 7th when it finished. Speaking of which, it’s entirely possible to start the race in 7th and stay in 7th the entire race, because items barely help at all among the complete lack of effect the drivers, karts and gliders have on the race’s outcome, other than the driver’s unique item. The point of choosing different drivers, karts and gliders defeats the concept of a “meta” because the game is designed in a way that it basically holds your hand as to what will make you win. And even if you do pick a three-item, x3 combo, x3 point-bonus loadout, it still won’t help you actually win the race, let alone get a meaningful score. Your only hope in the game is: 1. Pay for rubies until you draw someone that gets three items on the track 2. Pick your best kart and glider optimised for the track 3. Hope you start in 1st 4. Get the Rocket Start 5. Use drift controls to get Mini-Turbos 6. Use your once-a-race item ticket if at any point you’re out of items no further than one turn past the previous item boxes 7. Take every glide jump you see 8. Mash your screen anytime you get a Frenzy 9. Hope you get at least one in the first lap or early second lap 10. Do not run 200cc on Reverse (R) versions of GCN Yoshi Circuit of 3DS Neo Bowser City. You will lose. 11. If you start in 7th or lower, you will stay there. You need at least seven of these instructions to go right in order to do anything, whether it be to win or to get points.

Has potential but suffers from poor controls. The controls are too sensitive and its hard to turn properly. Should be able to play in landscape mode. Also, its ridiculous you cant play with friends. This game has potential but needs major improvements.

Crash!!!. This game crash every time it won’t let me pass the tutorial. Is there’s going to be a fix for this soon?

Used to be great. I enjoyed the way the game was laid out before where you could use pipes to get characters, buy rubies with the tokens and also sometimes get characters with tokens from the tour or even coins. Now all the coin and token prizes are really crappy and the only way to get good characters is to fork out 150 rubies. Which the only way to collect enough is to spend actual money. What a shame.

Doesnt feel right. First of all, youre playing this game vertically, you will only use 1 finger to control your character, everybody feels like a bot.what happen to buttons like in the nitendo switch, and you cant fall out of maps , wth thats the main element in mario kart , taking that away would just be some boring racing kart game,

An opportunity for an amazing app. I saw that this came out and thought it would be amazing. There are other racing apps like Asphalt that are so in-depth and well done and with an iconic game like Mario Kart and the current development around apps, I expected the best. This game is awful though. The worst aspect is by far the steering. I do not think it should be able to be controlled with one thumb. The courses are also not related to the real Mario Kart and the game play is as slow as it could be. I would re-think the entire gameplay and steering mechanisms if you want to create a game with longevity...

Good game. I’ve been playing Mario kart for about two months now and I found it very fun. I do play other racing games and this has a different little twist to it which makes it unique and exciting. Although I wish that you could get more Nintendo games on mobile, but that’s not related to the game so it’s not gonna change the reading. This is a really great game and I definitely recommend.

Bad controls and pure Pay to win. Controls are terrible, no PvP and 200cc behind a paywall. Can not recommend.

Disappointed in the steering. Horrible steering. What’s the point of the game if you can’t even steer the vehicle comfortably. Annoyed

New update is total cash grab. Nintendo ruined the game with the new and improved pay to play system

Disappointing. Paywall and lack of multiplayer is horrible. Nintendo should be ashamed.

I thought we could play against our friends. I thought we would be able to play against our friends too? so you mean to tell me after all this.... I can only play strangers😂😂😂😂 y’all better fix this like wth

My grandfather last words. I downloaded this game and showed my grandfather who is a super Mario fan and loved playing Mario kart. I thought this would be a fantastic game to download on his phone, as he is getting older and there isn’t much for him to do anymore. The original Mario Kart games brought back such nostalgic memories of playing as a family, my grandfather laughing, and smiling and having the time of his life. He was a war veteran with PTSD, and he never smiled or talked to us unless we were playing Mario kart. You can see how this game has a big influence in our lives. I downloaded this game on his phone and when he tried to play it he raged the hardest I have ever seen him. He was so angry, starting abusing and hitting me and his nurses, called everyone he knew and cussed them out, and smashed his phone into millions of pieces. In his enraged outburst he suffered an aneurysm and as he was seizing on the ground in pain, his final words were, “this game garbage”. In conclusion, I think this game sucks and should be removed from the App Store. It caused immense pain to me and my family. It is a disgrace to what Mario kart truly is and what the game truly stands for. Thank you. Have a wonderful day.

Steering is buggy. What the title says

Really, Nintendo?. This game used to be so much fun to play, but now it’s just really disappointing. For the last few months: - it’s basically impossible to move up in tiers in ranked battles if you’re not a paid player because of limited rewards (fine, I see what you’re paying for, but then..) - blue turtle shells and mysterious boosts on cpu drivers when you’re in first, right before the finish line (this is just kind of a low blow thing to do) - boring 3-star challenges that are repetitive and completely monotonous at this point - the game laaaaags as soon as I have a frenzy and I’m in first (??? How convenient!) - the game is basically just based on luck of the draw and what items you can use at this point, regardless of how skilled of a player you are. - It’s very much designed so that players have to replay courses over and over again because they get destroyed on the track right before the finish line, which is probably the most ineffective and unimaginative way to lengthen the shelf life of a game. Don’t waste your time or money.

Meh. Bad steering, screen is the wrong way and I’m not downloading 557 mb after the fact, app wasted my time, deleted after first time playing

Game Crashes. After being excited for the game for a while now, I cant even play it because in the tutorial the game crashes before i can even pick how i want to drive. Hopefully this gets fixed soon

Where’s Luigi. Give me Luigi you have some whack characters but no Luigi

Crashes every time. In the middle of a race and it crashes. All the time.

Controls need improvements. I’ve been playing Mario Kart since the gamecube, heres what i have to say. The graphics in this game are phenomenal. Gameplay is fun but one thing bothers me. The controls are to easy and simple. The car auto accelerates and the steering is done by sliding your fingers left and right. I get Nintendos point about playing a game like this single handedly, but I want to feel more involved in the game. Its like racing in a tesla on autopilot. Anyways, if they added a landscape mode with motion steering and a manual brake and gas, this game would be 100%, bonus if they game it compatible with a gaming remote. Thats my two cents. This game has so much potential, but Nintendo's one handed gaming model does more harm than good

Hopeful but sadly let down... I was very hopeful for this game! I was excited to be able to race against my friends and relive the Nintendo ds days where we could all race against each other. Sadly after playing through a few “Tours” or Cups the game feels like a basic money grab free to play app. Karts, characters and gliders are all locked behind essentially a loot box type pay wall called “The pipe”. The game feels rushed and unfinished, the controls are very basic in a hold one side of the screen to go one way and vis versa for the other side. I’m not a fan of it being portrait view instead of landscape. I believe the gyroscope controls could have been so much better in landscape view to give us more of a Nintendo wii feel to the game. Some features like rankings, friends and multiplayer aren’t in the game yet. I know the game is still new, so I’m still hopeful they at least make it a little bit reminiscent of the console and ds games. They could add races against friends and ballon battle but please Nintendo don’t lock it behind a pay wall. However a couple things they did well on were how it runs smooth with almost no lag/stuttering and the maps are diverse with new ones and olds ones. All the maps look very good! Hope this is helpful for anyone that sees it!

Multiplayer. Un an d’attente et le multiplayer ne marche même pas! GG

peepoo. peepeepoopoo

Crashing!!!. I can’t play more than two minutes before the game crashes and glitches out of the app. Please fix this!!!!!

The game is trash and pay to win. You basically have to buy gems to get anything and the gems are not cheap either. And to make it worse they made a subscription service to make it even more pay to win.

Junk. Piece of junk keeps crashing on iPhone 8 this really grinds my gears

Paywall. Why should I pay a monthly subscription for a game that you would normally buy and own. Why don’t you guys just charge 5-10$ for the game and have everything fully unlocked!? This is clearly a cash grab. On the plus side it has good graphics

This is NOT a good Mario Kart.. The control schemes, the feel of driving, and the monetization used are each terrible. Progression has daily limit. AI is presented as real players.

Greedy corporate Nintendo strikes again. Some brainwashed Nintendo sheeps are now doing damage control for their beloved megacorp when they’ve just added more P2W with double the amount of coins that can be obtained if you buy one of their subscriptions. Will be canceling my gold pass and finally quitting this game I’ve been playing since day 1 that’s only gotten worse with greed and updates.

Garbage. Waste of time. Money pit.. Don’t waste your time with this app. Nothing like the good old Mario Kart. This is nothing but a constant assault on your wallet. You’ve literally got to spend boatloads of money to buy any decent characters or karts, and advancing through levels beyond “2” is near impossible without breaking out the credit card. Want to have a fun race? You can go from 1st to 8th in a second - so many obstacles and disadvantages that make you wonder if the game is rigged. You’re not laying against real players, so your winnings are very limited. Overall, neat graphics and addictive in the beginning. But in the end, this is a Kart full of Krap.

Wow Nintendo get it together. Negatives -Controls are bad -No multiplayer on launch -Why do I have to pay for anything in a Mario Kart Game, this is scummier then Activision -Kids are no doubt going to spend a lot of their parents money on these “surprise mechanics” Pros +Good graphics

Terrible steering. Make it so u can play horizontally or fix the garbage steering options

GOLD PIPESSSSSS. GIVE👏ME👏GOLD👏PIPES👏OR👏IM👏GOING👏TO👏RATE👏THIS👏GAME👏1👏STAR👏UNTIL👏YOUR👏GAME👏RATING👏IS👏0.5👏STAR👏 Hope I’m being clear 👹👹👹

Money Hungry. What an annoying money hungry game! They make it nearly impossible to get any good characters, cars, or gliders. The only way is if you pay money for rubies to do endless pipe pulls that ALWAYS give you the same thing! They have a daily shop that updates and it’s literally the same stuff every other day... they don’t care about the people they just want to make money. Totally over it! Do better.

new tour sucks. Took away the pipe, and now you can only buy specials with Rubys and you have to have a lot of them just not as fun as before I liked the surprise this sucks I ended up getting more special ones when we had the pipe have only been able to buy one this entire tour

Garbage. If you like paying monthly and lots of micro transactions this is the game for you

you forgot someone. where is Luigi

Controls are awful. Cmon Nintendo how hard is it for you not to make a stupid business move. Fix the awful controls.

error. the game kept crashing 🤦🏻‍♀️😤

Cash grab for Nintendo. A company that I think most of us have grown up with is now using our nostalgia to drain us dry. I've unsubscribed from my gold pass because in one of the races of the most recent tour, there is only one top tier character. Ice Mario. A $55 CAD character. I'm floored by how Nintendo is treating their fans with this and I sincerely hope more fans will take a stand by cancelling their gold pass so that the heads of this game will learn that this is completely unacceptable. The game was so fun for a while. And it's been a steady decline for the past while with a steep drop off over new years. I'm definitely going to be deleting it. And won't even consider downloading it again till they prove it's a worthwhile game again.

Crashes. Keeps Crashing

Game is awesome but. The new update removed the pipes and now one needs to collect rubies to purchase characters, cars etc. that sucks… BRING BACK THE PIPES!!!

Luigi. Where’s Luigi?

Awesome!. This game is totally awesome, in the reviews I see that some people had to wait for maintenance but I was playing this game at 7:00 and it was fine. I’m playing on iPhone six too which doesn’t have that good components but it still runs with little to no dropped frames usually sticks to I think 15 or 30 FPS. Looks great good job Nintendo!

Lacking, disappointing and all around garbage. I’ve been plying this game from day one and was really enjoying, at first. I really like the city tours when you’d add really cool imaginative spotlight characters and the race set up where you had to unlock the cups (that made ranking more fun). Then, recently, you decided to completely make the tour system boring. First, you spent months doing “Holiday” tours (which were really Christmas tour as it was the only holiday displayed), then you just started reusing country maps so you could do those tours again instead of being creative and doing other countries, like Egypt (Cairo) as it was on your original title screen. Then with these reused tours you would add stupid characters like the Classic Mario and Luigi and making their spotlight karts Super instead of high-end (which removes the feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment when you get it) and with the newest tour, the Detective Baby Rosalina is basic and unimaginative. Also, stop making all the cups available as soon as the tour starts, because the takes away the fun of trying to unlock them. Furthermore, your multiplayer sucks. Since day one, I’ve been really looking forward to playing with friends, but when it finally came out, it was terrible. Whenever I’d play, if I hit another player, they would get the emote for about a second, then they would race off immediately at the speed they left off at, or they’d just glitch way ahead of me. Another thing about it was that somehow every time I was in first, someone without fail was able to red shell me (even though I had seen that they had no items) which was really frustrating when I was trying to complete challenges. Finally, recently for this tour, your pipes have been trash. First of all, the gems you need to do a pipe are extremely hard to get (especially if your like me and like to do the “Fire Ten” option). The only way to easily obtain the gems is to buy your overpriced Gold Pass or buy your Overpriced gems. Even if you do manage to get all the gems to fire ten, the odds are absolute garbage. Today I went to fire ten, because for my ranking, I really needed either the Spotlight Waluigi or Rosalina. When I fired it, every item I got was a normal I already had (because I have all the normals in the game except for three karts), even though the spotlight items have a way higher chance at being drawn (they are at a 2.5% chance while the normal are from 2.0455% - 1.9444%). Overall, the game has been recently lacking, so stop trying to make this game all about spending our own personal money, when I know that Nintendo is already a rich company, especially with the Coronavirus pandemic which will leave a lot of people buying more of your games during their quarantine.

Controls. The controls need a complete re-work, they are the worst controls i have ever experienced for a mobile game.

Sad. Honestly just a cash grab. I’d expect pay-to-play from EA but not from Nintendo. Disappointed.

Crashes constantly. Every time I open the game the game crashes so I can’t get further than the tuturial. Its sad because I was very exited for this game and had preregistered it a month before the release.

Very disappointing :(. The screen is vertical, should be tilted horizontal just like every race game. Also thought there was no tilt control but when I found it i was disappointed again. Plus your using tilt control with a vertical screen?? not what i hoped for, plz update. ALSO, we should be able to play with friends somehow?!!

Crashes. After pulling down the pipe and a character popping up, it immediately crashes

Fix it. I have an iPhone XS Max on 12.4 and every time I start it I can play for like 30 seconds then it just crashes over and over again plz fixxxxxx

A truly fun game. For a day one experience I personally do enjoy the game as it is at the moment. For my 6s, the game runs smoothly and I encounter very little to no lag while playing. The gameplay is a unique blend of the Mario Kart formula with a spin on it. The spin is the customizable karts and characters being locked by a pay wall. Now this would be a major problem if the majorly effected gameplay but at this current time it can make getting stars a bit easier. How it works is certain characters, karts, and gliders give certain boosts to your game. I have made it past the daisy cup and have collected all stars, meaning it is possible and not super challenging to obtain these stars. The “battle pass” is an ok addition which gives some extra content. For five dollars a month it is the only reasonable piece of in app purchase. However the gems are STUPID expensive. When you have to pay roughly 25 dollars for a multi you will not run into pay to win players at all due to these steep prices. My overall experience with this game has been a blast and I personally can’t wait for further updates in the game and it is definitely worth your time because the entry fee to the game is FREE!

Amazing but ruined. Such a great game and once you get used to the controls is actually tons of fun. The way the cups are set up to it’s like you never beat it, it just keeps adding levels for you. And so many characters carts and gliders to collect. But here’s where it got ruined; micro transactions. I understand in today’s day and age we need mtx or the games can’t continue and won’t make their money. But there’s a difference between pay to play and pay to win. In the beginning you get 5 stars on everything regardless of your gear. Then it gets harder but with the gear you roll you should have a decent chance on each track for 5 stars. Then it gets harder. Currently I’m at the point where I can get first in every race but only get 2 stars. Basically I’m at a point where I can move on to the next cup because I don’t have enough stars but I got FIRST in EVERY race.. so I’m at a point where I’m either forced to buy better gear for more bonus points to get more stars or just not play the game/continuously redo races I already won just for giggles. You can do challenges for rubies and stars but I’ve done most of them already. They truly did well on this game but just ruined it. I can’t even watch adds for stars or rubies? like come on give us an option to move on besides paying you money.. I’m stuck and can’t continue without $$$

Game crashes instead of giving rewards and customer service calls you a liar. Now on my third issue where the game has crashed on completion of a task causing the reward to not be given was rudely told by customer service that i was pretty much lying about 3 rubies when i told them i had screenshots of proof that it wasnt awarded they told me they went through my game data and was able to see the completion and the reward given and when i counted all awarded rubies and those spent already the variant was 3 rubies meaning i was never awarded them. Customer service again didnt care when i completed a race given me the flatten three racers in a single race where they completely ignored me after i said they should do as they claimed before and check my game data on my phone to see and i found my customer service link downed for exactly 24hrs after with no response i asked then to cancel my paid subscription if they choose to not respond and be so rude to me over 3rubies then against over 2stars which is literally such small amounts if not the smallest amount compared to their transactions to fix fix my issue wouldve cost them $1.99 when i pay $5 a month so they decided that i wasnt worth fixing the issue and now im on a third issue where im not even gonna try and get it fixed ive cancels paid subscription and deleted game

Nostalgic but costs arm and a leg. It is nice that this game is available on mobile. To enjoy the game better you already have to pay $5.99 for a gold pass. Not to mention, to obtain new karts, drivers and gliders costs an arm and a leg to buy more rubies which is frustrating because it is a gamble to get new items or desired items. It offers limited level up capabilities on a daily basis. Earning coins is also frustrating. It takes days for a new map to open. For every new tour (every two weeks) it will probably cost a person $200 to get the desired characters, karts and gilders. Everything has a very big and expensive price tag. I understand the need for return of investment for the developers. But I feel that these developers took so much advantage of this very beloved game and it’s users. But they really need to improve this game and make it more budget friendly as well for the customers not just for the developers. The developers figured out a way to get money by making players get new items every week by going through 100 selections of items (BUT INSTEAD OF STREAMLINING THE PROCESS OF CHOOSING THE ONES YOU DONT HAVE YET OR MAXED OUT- it keeps giving you the MAXED OUT ITEMS SO YOU KEEP SPENDING MORE). The developers needs to fix this and make this better because it is ridiculous- out of 10 items you are lucky to get 2 or 3 sometimes NONE!!!! Crooks!!!

Nintendo’s franchise decline. All the issues with the franchise are back and worse then ever. Rubberbanding to a ridiculous degree. Quests that require multiplayer, but the servers for it are absolute garbage. Hit an opponent with an item, chances are it won’t even slow them down. Even if you somehow manage to win you can still get disconnected at the end of the race and it won’t even count. For a company with as much money as Nintendo, this is unacceptable, especially when they’ve known about it for a long time. The banners for racers, karts, and gliders is even worse. The wording for the “pipes” fully suggests that what contents are listed within the table will be acquired by the time a person fully empties it. However, this is not the truth, you can get multiple contents of the same item and not be guaranteed anything but the “featured item”. Nintendo knows about this deception as well and refuses to refund anyone should they come find out the hard way. All this so they can jump on the disgusting micro transactions train. How far Nintendo has fallen. They used to be a company that was more about the fan base, and made a health profit because of it, now it’s just about the numbers. This is what gamers have let the market become. Sadly soon all games will be nothing but atms for corporations.

DONT READ THIS REVIEW. Ok. So at first, I wasn’t that amused and thought that it was just another racing game, or whatever. So for the first few days, I didn’t really play. But, one of my friends begged me to play with her, so I did. After playing more and more, I have come to LOVE Mario kart. It is now my new favorite game and since then, I have unlocked every single cup and have gotten 5 stars on most of them. I am counting down the days until the next store and when multiplayer comes out!! Thank you guys— also I’m now addicted;) Okay so I have just purchased the gold pass and I honestly wish I had purchased it sooner. The tour gifts for the gold pass are so much better, and now I am also able to accumulate way more gems to use the pipe! Each tour gets better and better and I am always just so excited to see the new tours comes out. ****I feel like the last gift should be something really really exciting. Because once I get that final last tour gift, I look at the future prizes and don’t see anything super compelling so it doesn’t force me into striving for those extra stars to make me play the game more. Just a thought!

Bad But Addictive. It’s more about obsessively grinding points than actual racing. There isn’t much strategy to the game so it’s basically just mindless driving. You can’t even fall off the track because it pushes you back on. Races have been shortened to two laps. Only a handful of characters and vehicles are good on each track so sometimes you’ll end up with 5 Marios in one race. It shoves notifications in your face all the time - throw 5 bananas on the road or something and you’ll get a forgettable badge and 1 ruby. It has lootbox mechanics so you can get hooked and waste your money on stuff you didn’t actually want. Ignore the 4.7 out of 5 rating. Naive kids will rate any mobile game 5 stars as long as they’re addicted to the game. I’ve seen games literally scam their fanbase out of money and ingame currency and kids will still give it 5 stars. Truthfully, I’d avoid mobile games altogether and just get a console or decent PC. Normal console/PC games can be addictive too, and they’re generally harder, but there are a lot of amazing experiences out there. Mobile games, like Mario Kart Tour, are purely designed to get you hooked so you spend more and more money. As someone who is still an avid gamer, I regret every minute I’ve spent “gaming” on my phone.

Amazing but some nostalgia issues. I think the way the put it on mobile is absolutely amazing. However... some new characters and karts were added and that’s always fun. But there’s not as many secret passages, most players have auto steering on, and there’s not as many maps. Now hold on, so far I’ve passed 12 cups. With four levels per cup. So there’s 48 levels... but it’s the same few levels with slight variations. AND there’s no rainbow road yet. I would be more than happy if the producers decided to add a casual gameplay with some of the old maps from 3ds, wii, etc. Also multiplayer isn’t out yet. Which is a big bummer. I am still curious as to when that’s going to be added. “Future update” but doesn’t say when. It’s still a fun game nonetheless. It’s just way different compared to classic Mario kart. You need to unlock characters, karts, gliders, and maps. Which is okay but it takes too long to get those things and the game becomes boring after you can’t unlock anything more for the day. Now this is without me paying extra for rubies or coins. I’m sure if you purchased those things your time would be more fun for a short while.

Fun but many problems. Gold pass costs to much money for little to no value. The only thing you’re getting is 200cc, bonus challenges and items but it quickly runs out if you play daily and finish everything fast. The limit towards how many points you can get from races to upgrade your cars and characters is ridiculous. Just don’t have that, why is it there in the first place? It finishes in no more than 10 races which can be finished in less that 15 minutes. That’s terribly low and boring. You play afterwards for no reward and have nothing to look forward to other than try to 5 star all the races. Some of them are either extremely easy or extremely difficult. You need to have legendary characters and karts to get all the stars but that’s impossible to begin with because the chances of you unlocking one of those characters or items are so low. Let alone they need to have a bunch of points to even come close to 4 stars. But how can you do that with a low point limit? Overall it’s a very fun game but this decisions make the game extremely boring in a one hour play time. If these things were removed or fixed for the better, this game would easily be 5 stars

The people you play against are disguised as real players. Disappointed.. The fact that they really made the AI look like real people is stupid. At least let us know we are going against bots and name them by the character name instead of fooling people into believing they are having real races with real people. If the game was already online I would be more proud of the game but so far I am not. I personally like the Rubies and the Gold because it is a mobile game and people need something to strive for in game, but for kids this is NOT a good game to be playing. But still, on the other hand, I love Mario Cart and I have been playing since I was a baby, so I am definitely still going to play it. Everything in the game is as it should be, there are levels from all different versions of the game and even some updated versions of older levels. The game looks beautiful and its is easy to learn. What I hope to see in the future is a wide screen mode, different controls to where you can use a joy stick, or to be able to touch the screen on different sides to go left and right and then continue to slide the screen to drift, which would be easier than the controls now. They are weird at first but when u get used to it, its pretty fun.

Nostalgia to an Extent. I love the fact they made Mario Kart for iOS. However, there is no online multiplayer (yet). They claim to be adding online multiplayer racing in a later version but that’s what I initially thought I was downloading. Don’t get me wrong, I love the game, but they better introduce that soon to keep the game alive. With how the “storyline” goes, it makes you stop naturally progressing and wait for “tracks to be built.” Kind of annoying so far but that’s kinda my point with the online multiplayer aspect. You won’t need to stall players from beating the game in 4 hours with online multiplayer activities, games, and tournaments. The microtransactions hopefully will stay under control. They’re equalized by being able to earn the purchaseable content through ranking up. As soon as that changes, this game will plummet. But that’s everything I can find wrong with this game at the moment. This game is a flash back to the past and is just as amazing. Just like every game starting out, it’s gonna have some bugs and the devs are gonna need to see reviews from its player-base, but this game has potential to be something amazing for this next generation to enjoy just as much as mine did!!

Disappointing. I will say that the game can be really fun. The graphics are nice, though they are a serious drain on my battery. And it has all the fun aspects of Mario Kart. Except, of course, for the multiplayer aspect. None of the people you race are your friends or others online. So it’s always just AI that you are up against. Not as fun. The biggest drawback is, your scores don’t reflect your actual performance so much as the unit, car and glider you use. The problem with this is, it’s all reliant upon a gatcha system. Between the NY and the beginning of the Tokyo tours I think I have done 5 of the multi summons. In those summons I have only received one high end driver, and to my extreme disappointment it was a copy of the Metal Mario I got as a reward from the two week free subscription. So not only are e drop rates awful, there’s nothing to help elevate your chances of getting a unit or car or glider that you want. Which brings me to the subscription. Nintendo wants us to pay $5 every month, the same as an Apple Arcade price, just for this one game? I don’t think so. I got the two week free part for the rewards and then cancelled it. That’s the other thing, if you want the best rewards from the races you need this subscription. This is an awful cash grab with no way to actually enjoy it with your friends, the way Mario Kart is supposed to be. I expected more from Nintendo.

Disappointing for a Nintendo Experience. I have played Nintendo games my whole life and Mario Kart has always been one of my favorites. While Nintendo's mobile games haven't been perfect, they are for sure fun and exciting, and I personally have had a lot of fun with Dr. Mario World. While DMW has no focus on microtransactions and moves along fine for free, Mario Kart Tour's beta had a rocky run with control and in-app purchase issues, I expected Nintendo to work their magic and polish up the game before release. I was disappointed. The “other players” are certainly CPUs (which aren't even particularly difficult on 150cc), things like rocket start, tricks, and staying on the track are made too easy, and the whole game has gone full-on Wario Colosseum and every track is 2 laps. And the in-app purchases are totally ridiculous; $4.99 a month for 200cc and a chance at Metal Mario is unheard of and getting the characters you want is highly unlikely (especially Luigi). Despite its flaws, Mario Kart Tour has amazing visuals for a mobile game and looks better than Mario Kart 7 in my opinion. If you've never played Mario Kart or haven't played since Wii, this might be a fun experience, but Mario Kart and Nintendo fans will be hard-pressed to find enjoyment in this game. It's still better than Super Circuit though.

The best IOS game!. Mario kart tour is a flawless perfect fun game that's highly addictive! Getting items from normal, super and high end is random unless you want to get everything at once and ruin the fun experience paying your way to the top. Pay for everything becomes worthless if you enjoy winning at all costs which leads to a boring short lived experience in my opinion. Most games make it impossible to play without buying your way throughout the game Mario kart is totally different it's not dependent on you buying stuff. I am a real Mario kart user who was skeptical like every other game out there you pay must pay in order to play Mario kart tour is nothing like those games. They only drawback is the lag when playing multiplayer mode takes a long time to load up race's. I wish Mario kart tour wife concentrate their efforts making multiplayer a better experience especially loading/matchmaking multiplayer races. If you're not and you addictive fun great games then skip this one...4 stars gets bumped to 5 stars once the multiplayer matchmaking loads faster so you don't fall asleep waiting for each race to load.

Game has a glitch. I am absolutely obsessed with This game I had been waiting years for this to be available via phone. Now that it is available, one of the concerns is why won’t the game allow me to stead off Road and use ramps that are outside the actual road. I’ve attempted many times to use them and it seems like there is a wall I hit and I end up driving sideways onto this invisible wall that prevents me from using off road ramps. The second thing I would like is to be able to play with the friends I add. One of the challenges is to have 3 friends but I find it useless if we can’t even play live with them or speak to them I feel like it’s only to help advertise. Third it would be amazing if we could find a different way to add friends in general because other than that I have to ask everyone if they play which is a bit awkward. The gold pass as well isn’t so much beneficial so charging $5 monthly is a bit of a reach I would of hoped it gave you a higher chance rate for player when you shot the canon but it doesn’t it gives you repeated players.

Great but stingy with gems and coins. I really enjoy this game and it brings back so many memories from my childhood. However it really irks me that there a limit on EXP and coins daily. If I spend more time on the game, shouldn’t I be able to advance more quickly? That’s not even the reason I’m writing this review. The main problem is how stingy they are with the gems and the prices of the gems. I’ve spent a lot of money on games that have gems and summoning just like this (like brave frontier or the tokyo ghoul game), but it’s because it’s reasonably priced and doesn’t make me feel like it’s a waste of money.. of course I’m going to keep playing this daily because I do love the game so I just hope they make it more reasonable. Majority of the players are like me, college students who are broke, who can barely survive as it is. Nintendo, if you’re reading this, I promise you’ll make a lot more money if you lower the prices even just a little!! Other than that this game is addicting, has great graphics and keeps it interesting with their creative summons (I love Kimono Princess Peach)!! Download this game if you love yourself!!

Addictive. The game itself is awesome and I’ve spent more hours playing than I care to admit. I love the different tracks and tours that roll out every two weeks as well as the new characters. The only thing that drives me absolutely crazy is multiplayer. There are glitches that need to be addressed. I’ve seen players be hit with mushrooms or lightning or whatever and it not phase them even when they are vulnerable (no heart, frenzy, etc.). I’ve also encountered players disappearing and then appearing way ahead on the track. I also don’t understand the way you advance in multiplayer. It seems nearly impossible to advance. You generally only get a win here or there regardless of your racer and if you do happen to have a good lead, something pops up and puts you in last. It never fails to happen. I think there needs to be a little more clarity other than letter levels (F, D, E, etc.) And it would be neat to have totally different levels than what we have outside of multiplayer. Lastly, they should do a fan favorite tour and bring back the top rated tracks across all past tours. Just a thought.

Faulty programming and slow response by developers making me pull my gold pass. I love this game. Been playing it since it was released back in the fall. I play every day. But lately I’m am too frustrated by the constant crashing and in game glitches to even try. This morning after several attempts to start races and having the app completely shut of just as a race was about to begin I decided to try some troubleshooting. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app (like I have to do every two weeks when the game is updated which is frustrating enough Nintendo!) and now as I attempt to sign back into my Nintendo account, which I’ve never had a problem with once reinstalling, it KEEPS CRASHING. I legit cannot get back into the game. It seems as weeks go by the overall quality of this game has severely decreased, these in game problems are being ignored and neglected in a way that’s about lost my loyalty. Currently I wouldn’t recommend this game to anyone and I would caution against engaging with any Nintendo game in the future because the response to player issues and concerns has not been handled apparently. Which is too bad because the game itself is beautiful, engaging and offers challenges for all skill levels. Plus who doesn’t love all the colorful characters, hopefully developers will do them justice.

Disappointing Microtransaction/Subscription Model. If Mario Run was supposed to be Nintendo’s experiment in upending the terrible model for mobile gaming, it must have failed. Although Mario Run is vastly superior to Mario Kart Tour, it probably will not make as much money. It is unfortunate that Nintendo is choosing to abandon its one-game-long push to change mobile gaming for the better, because Tour is just as unpleasant to play as any of the microtransaction-ridden dumpsters crowding the App Store. It’s not any better or even different from knockoffs like Angry Birds Racing or Sonic Racing. Come on, this was supposed to be Mario Kart! This one was supposed to be better! Grinding through the game without purchasing coins or purchasing g a subscription (Apple Arcade costs the same per month for hundreds of games, and even that’s still not a good idea) is a slog. Even if you get first place, you may end up without a high score if you didn’t buy the right racer/kart first. Coins come about a dozen per race, so good luck saving up the thousands necessary to get new racers and karts without buying into the awful microtransaction ecosystem. This game is for the 5% of people who will frequently spend real-world money to buy imaginary coins. This game is not for the 95% of us who just want to play a game. Really disappointing.

Can’t win. I’ve spent a lot of time, and an embarrassing amount of money playing this. This is my go to “me time” favorite game. Though I love playing, I do not like that I can only win as much as “they” allow. I am level 50, and going down tiers no matter how much I play, or pay, or change things up. I have the gold pass and almost always buy AT LEAST the 20 or 40 dollar “SALE” (don’t tell my husband) I play every board and get every gift yet still can’t get above 6 place in the competition. If there is a trick, I don’t know it... worst part is they take away what you EARNED if you can’t get a certain score! And don’t even get me started on multiplayer!!! 98% of the time it doesn't work, the other 2% you play the whole race and it says “communication error” and you get no points! AND you need to play multiplayer to win challenges!!! And the PIPE!!!! I have TWO items that are maxed out at level 6, which means I only get 250 coins which buys you NOTHING!!!! yet out of ALLLLL THE INSANE amount of characters, I get those same TWO items over and over again! I have been playing this since the day it launched, and I HATE TO COMPLAIN because I love all things MARIO, but I am paying a ridiculous amount of money for an app should be FAIR... I’ll play for the rest of my life if It’s always fun! But constantly losing is getting old

I never thought I’d give this game 3 stars. Tbh this game is really great. People are always hitting it down because of the terrible pipe system but if you look past that, you got a solid Mario Kart game. So I’m sure you are wondering... why am i rating this 3 stars? It’s because of the Nintendo Account. You see when you download MKT you need to link a Nintendo account to play. Now i get that because you would wanna save your stuff but COME ON! That should have been optional because that could easily turn off new comers who just want to play Mario Kart on the go. Anyway back to MY personal issue. I used to use my Sister’s Nintendo account cause she originally download the game on her phone and made an account but i recently got a switch so we needed to make new accounts for both of us. This now confused the game and would now need verification. Since i now had my own account i decided to use that but then the game crashed. I exited out and opened it up again and it CRASHED! And there wasn’t a single thing i could do about it. So now every time i open the game it crashes. I’m gonna re-download the game to see if that works but STILL why...just WHY Nintendo. (But like i said this is a solid Mario Kart the horrible pipe system aside, a good game 🙂)

A decent pastime. But only just.. I enjoy playing Mario Kart Tour. I do. (I think.) The controls take some getting used to, but are pretty inconsistent. The courses are challenging without being impossible. There are lots of variations of the races, especially if you play long enough. But I’m not a person who pays money for the “guacamole” features. That is, I’ll pay to buy a game I really want (which you don’t have to with this one, don’t worry), but I’m not going to pay a subscription price for a higher tier of gameplay, or a la carte for rank up materials. And that’s where this game has really let me down. It’s very clear that players who do spend cash get preferential treatment. In fact, it’s impossible to reach certain milestones without paying up. I’ve been “Level 38” for about a year now. (Not important what that means.) I sometimes reach 39, but I’m always kicked back down in the next cup, and am therefore blocked from getting certain rewards. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO PROGRESS IN THIS GAME WITHOUT SPENDING MONEY BUT YOU CAN’T! The whole game is a brightly colored distraction, which is wonderful...if that’s all you’re looking for. If you are AT ALL competitive, watch out. This game will frustrate you to no end, unless you have money to burn.

Great, but some issues. This app is so much fun, just like the classic Kart games on DS and such, but there are a few technical glitches/issues that are annoying, hence the 4 stars. Sometimes if you click something too fast it won’t load, sometimes it takes minutes to start up, even after restarting the app, and every once in a while for the pipe you’ll pay for something but because it doesn’t load you lose rubies but don’t get anything in return. If there was one big thing I’d suggest, it would be making it easier for the players to access technical complaints. That would help both the programmers figure out what’s going on, and allow for better gameplay for the players once the issues are better handled. Other than the few setbacks mentioned (which only occur maybe 10% of my time on the app), it’s a great app and I highly recommend! It’s especially fun if you connect with your friends so you can compete and see how they do. The monthly updates also help keep things fun, as you don’t get tired of the same courses because they have a lot of fun making them different/more interesting from the originals.

I love it, but that’s not the reason I wrote this.. Ok, let me say one thing before getting to my main topic, this game is amazing! Anyway, the main reason I’m writing this review is because it is more of a request. I am unsure if you guys will read this though. I’ve seen that you guys have been adding more indie games to the switch (Shovel Knight, Undertale, Rivals of Aether, Cuphead, etc.) and I was hoping that you would add one of my favorite indie games on the switch. It’s known as “OFF”. It is an indie rpg with an amazing story, nice, 8-bit graphics, and an awesome soundtrack and cast of characters. You should check it out. Just look up”off indie game”. It is a really awesome game and definitely worth your time. Please add this game onto the switch. It would be a dream come true for me. Sincerely, Turtle Gamer, caring and cool gamer. P.S., if you can’t get the game on switch, could you at least make a mii costume for The Batter (the main character from off) as well a remix of Peppered Steak (the battle theme from the game) to represent the series in Smash Ultimate? Even that would be enough. Anyway, stay cool, Nintendo. Stay cool.

The steering is horrible. To start the game looks stunning and from the limited time I have played it seems to run fine on my 8plus however as soon as I hoped on the game and started to race I could instantly tell the steering mechanics were awful. There were numerous times when I would be pulling my thumb to right just to have my character not respond. I’m not sure if it’s a game issue or if I’m doing something wrong but the controls are not intuitive what so ever. Even after I turned on the tilt controls I still had trouble orienting my character the right way. The controls almost seem as if they were purposely made bad for some reason. I think they might be better if there was a button you could press with your other thumb to drift instead of the game just doing it automatically as it causes you to lose control consistently. Also I’m a bit lost as to why they decided to put the game in portrait mode instead of landscape, the choice just seems odd to me as I think that having the game in landscape would allow for much more such as an actually steering wheel, brakes and gas which would be a nice addition. Over I see there is potential in the game I’m just dumbfounded that this is the control scheme they decided to go with. Overall the game could be great they just need to fix the steering.

Good Game, but expensive. Mario kart is a pretty good free to play game! It has a lot of maps from other games that I liked, and does very well with the gameplay aspect of it. But of course, there is a downside: Rubies. They’re a premium currency you can buy at 3 of the for 2 dollars. One of the main uses for them is the pipe, which is a gamble for new characters and cars for 5 rubies. Why? Rubies are also way to rare. You can get them for your first 6, maybe 7 level ups, then just 100 coins or so. Aren’t you excited to buy 1/8 of a low tier character in the shop? No? Well why not try coin rush and try to get more coins? It’s 5 rubies per go, so no. Some other ways you can try to get rubies is tour gifts, which have random rewards which can include certain currencies, tickets, or cosmetics. Hey, want more of those? Well you can get them for 5 more dollars with their Gold Pass! Thankfully, They have slowly been patching up the issue with their new tournament things which give you rubies in the top 6 spots. It’s hard to go for #1 to get those sweet 20 rubies (unless everyone isn’t playing the game anymore lol) but when you do, it feels great.

Off to an incredible start.. Keeping in mind that it literally JUST came out and isn’t going to start off perfect, I think it’s off to a beautiful start. I have been waiting for Mario Kart to come out on IOS for a long time, and although some people have had their issues with it so far, I’m looking past simple things such as “the controls bother me” or “it should be in landscape rather than portrait” because those are simple things that can be fixed easily with a few updates as well as just getting used to the game being on a phone rather than a console. The overall game, however, with the characters, carts, coins, gliders, etc. is nothing short of a masterpiece and brings back a familiar wave of nostalgia not from the original Mario Kart on the Super Nintendo, but more so the Mario Kart on the Wii that I personally grew up with. So far (apart from the daily limitations on upgrades and points which I’m not necessarily a fan of) I am absolutely in love with everything about this game and am nothing short of excited to see the future of it, specifically in regards to the future multiplayer mode. To the creators: Thank you, and keep up the good work.

Love the characters, hate the scam. I’ve been a fan of Mario Kart since it came out on Super Nintendo. I love having a mobile version of that game to play, especially since it includes many characters and tracks from various generations of the game. Beyond that, unfortunately, it’s been made into a scam. I’m all for supporting good games and good developers, and maintained a subscription to this game for quite some time. I came to terms quickly with the usual pay-to-win scam that was immediately implemented in the game; I could still enjoy my races against player and AI and just have fun, even if it would have been far more enjoyable competing with skill rather than purchased levels. Supporting this game ended quickly when I ran into their next scam: placing the exit button next to the purchase button without a payment confirmation option, or a method of returning the accidental purchase for a refund. When the unintended purchase happened, I immediately contacted support and they’ve clearly said they not only have no return process, but they won’t be changing the gui to help customers avoid accidental purchases. There is no doubt they just want to scam customers. I and my kids are moving away from Nintendo here, and on home platforms. We will not support the scam.

Still holds up!. I first got this game when I was a 2nd grader and I deleted it because I already had Pokémon GO and just left it. Now I’m in 6th grade I come back and it held up wonderfully! The controls might seem a little tedious and off but believe me when I say it reaches Super Mario 64 levels of holding up. The updates, the content, the characters are amazing! I mean you can play as Poochy from Yoshi’s Wooly World from the 3ds and WiiU! They even brought the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System )classic cosmetics for Mario and Luigi to the table! Some of the Mario enemies like Chargin Chuck are in the race! Not to mention you can link your Nintendo Switch account to play as you Mii character and collect different suits for them! Not to mention the tracks too! We’ve got most of the retro tracks from the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) DS (Dual Screen) and so much more! If only we had Link from The Legend of Zelda series, maybe some Pokémon, PAC MAN ( original design and actual actor)and some maps of some of the forgotten Nintendo games (Like Nintendo Land, Wario Land/World or maybe some of the Mario spin off games) If you’re looking for a good game for you new or owned phone/iPad you might like this game a lot!

This game is a joke !!. They are the definition of a fremium Game!! They don’t accept the fact you are a gold member as enough money 💸💰💰💰!! They want more money. I literally (activated) there season pipes over 400+ times and not once gotten a gold pipe (a legendary item)! This game is all about money and if you don’t got it then I advice you to not download this “free” “APP”! I like the game and always purchase the gold pass hopping my money will go to good use! But it’s not enough for there money hungry selves ! You would think the Nintendo Mario franchise would have enough money by now over the years. But this game surly proves other wise. And the only way I can express my opinion of this is though this review. So if you want a game where you have to spend 100$ to get 1 out of like 90 characters they have then be my guest but if your looking for a fun free app to spend some of your free time while your not working all day or looking after your family then don’t download this game cause your only gonna be disappointed. Lack the time and effort you poor into this game. It’s like a never ending money pit with poor results. So that’s my review on the “MARIO CART APP” thank you for reading this I hope this will at least reach at least one person and can change this greedy app into something fun for all ages !!! Have a great day !

I love this game! But the high-end stuff is impossible to get!!. I love Mario Kart Tour! Along with the other Mario kart games! It’s been my favorite type of racing game from the beginning. However, the reason I’m not giving the game 2 more stars is because I hate the fact that the high-end characters are impossible to get! Today, I was excited that I finally got my first high-end character. I thought it was going to be Rosalina(Aurora)(because the star showed up), but it turned out to be metal mario. I was so upset. I didn’t know the star also comes out for the high-ends that are always there. I got confused and it made me upset. I also understand that the possibility of getting the high-end characters/ other characters is based on who’s there in total. However I find it ridiculous that the possibility of the high-end characters is impossible to get. I wish that the rarity of the characters were more of the possibility and are more fair and possible to get. Also, I wish that if a high-end character shows up, may you please show us with different types of symbols/signals which character we’re going to get? I don’t want to have my hopes high on a high-end character I’m not going to get. Thank you.

Great but ....... I have played this game I would love to give it 5 stars but I have gotten error messages and issues with the game will be stated in this review. 1 after finishing a race I have gotten “error has occurred “ and it causes me to not see the points and what you know happens after a race . 2 the game will open and have a three option button game frequently asked questions , support, If the game won’t start. but the game didn’t crash and nothing was wrong! 3 I have the game on two different devices and I got the gold pass but it was confusing I bought the pass on one device and it would just continue over because it’s the same exact account and I after getting on one device open it on the other and it says that since the pass was bought on one device it can’t be used on the device , i.e my second device . I would like to have some answers to the issues other than that game is great. One thing I would love to see come to the game is a better chance to unlock drivers through maybe missions/ challenges or just simply upping the chances or more than one pipe /roll of chance of drivers/karts/gliders . Would love to see these in the future.

My New Favorite Game!. Hello! I love this game so much; after only a day of playing, it’s my new favorite game EVER! I always play Mario Kart on my switch and Wii U, but now I can play it on my phone whenever and wherever! I just have 2 suggestions that I would LOVE to have in the game in future updates: 1. I love all the current characters in the game, but I would love if you could add Rosalina and/or Luma as one of them. I would always play as Rosalina on the Wii U, and I would love if she could be added later on. Luma would also be an amazing character in the game as well! 2. I love this game already, but sometimes it’s very difficult to steer, especially on 150cc and above. If possible, I would love if there were more steering options to make steering easier. One options I thought of are a little steering wheel in the bottom right (or left) corner. Please do not feel rushed to add these into the game. These are just some minor suggestions that I feel would make the game even better than it already is! Thank you for reading this review, and I hope you have an amazing day after reading this. 💕

Game is great BUT.....!!!!!!!. I love this game it’s quite addictive as are most Mario games. Problem is, the most important part of Mario Kart is the ability to compete with other players and not a CPU. With that said, the introduction to the Multiplayer Version available to all players and not just the Gold Members “testing version,” is a HUGE HACK!!!!! I’m always being forced in last place or in 6th place for some reason the majority of the time. I have SPECIFICALLY NOTICED CHEATING, either by the game or by players idk which it is; where you hit them directly with weapons and nothing happens to them. I was in a race once, and in second place and right when I was about to cross the finish line the screen went black like when you fall in a pit and the next thing I know ALL THE PLAYERS WERE PASSING ME, again placing me you know where.... “in 6TH PLACE!!!” Kinda hard to believe this is all coincidence and not some type of a hack or “simulated multiplayer action,” but really you’re still playing a CPU.... Perhaps the intent is to get you to play more outta frustration causing you to rage purchase memberships to get the edge, IDK, but regardless it’s really disappointing and needs to be fixed, looked at, addressed!!!!!

They pulled it off. Only Nintendo could find a way to make a vertical, touch screen kart racer fun, challenging and intuitive. I’ve played every console iteration since SNES Mario Kart, and this finds a way to play true to the rest of the series. While it took a minute to pick up on and adapt to the new controls, I quickly got back in the familiar rhythm and flow that fans know so well. If your experienced with the console games like myself, do yourself a favor and turn on “gyro controls” right away in settings. It makes all the difference in the world, especially if you are using drift mode. I had to figure this out through frustrations on minor turns, and difficulty aiming for coins. As far as price point for in app purchases, they seem a bit steep from what I’ve seen so far, $20 racer packs, high rupee cost (the currency to unlock racers) and the $5 monthly subscription service which only gives you the opportunity to win rare gold items, as well as 200cc mode. However in Nintendo’s defense, the game is perfectly playable without any IAPs. It really feels like Nintendo put the time and development into this that it deserves.

Pay To Win. Honestly, this game is a lot of fun and has excellent controls, but the microtransactions are just a bit too ridiculous. $40 for the top tier character of the 2-week period? No thank you. If you don’t have that character, it’s unlikely you can win place in a ranking during that week’s ranked cup. I know you can potentially earn the character through a random drawing but good luck with that. I know this game is designed to be pay to win but $40 is a bit ridiculous. The $5/month gold pass was nice to gain extra rubies and items, but it just isn’t worth it when you just can’t win without purchasing the $40 character for the current cup. January will be my last month on the gold pass. I will be playing this game casually from now on. Nintendo, I know you want to make money off this game but please lower the costs. You can guarantee customers for life if the character packs were closer to $5, and a monthly subscription for the gold pass at $1/month. If that were the case, I’d gladly pay $6 every month for years to come just to keep playing this game with top tier characters. Also, please fix the multiplayer. It still doesn’t work and the game has been out for months now! I want to give this 5 stars but it’s just not worth it right now until changes are made to the pay to win structure of this game!

Let’s Talk About the Pipe.... So far the game has improved, and will draw excitement for the upcoming Paris Tour (Hopefully we get some new karts or other stuff) but I have realized how unfair the pipe is. You can shoot out a surprise from the pipe for 5 gems, or do the same thing ten times for 45 gems, but how the system is set for the items is rigged. First, there is NO GUARANTEED, which means that the gems can be useful or go to waste, which has happened to me many times. Second, no one will spend the time and money getting more gems because of reason one. Last, these reasons combined drove me away from using the pipes seeing the gems go to waste and would rather be used on coin rush. It would give me a reason to save the gems for the pipes if the 10x pipe guaranteed a high-end card, or at least increased the chances of getting a high-end card by at least by five or ten percent. This would give me a reason to save the gems instead of anything else and would make the game a lot more fun and less money-grabbing. I still want to enjoy the game in the coming months, so, Nintendo, you might want to improve the game more in the future. Thanks!

What’s going on?. Ok so it’s been a couple of days since I can’t play the game.. I keep getting and error message when I open the app. What’s going on? The game is fun enough, the graphics are cool, all of the nostalgic characters are a part of the game. That being said if you don’t have the subscription be prepared for a slow advance in the game. I have paid for two months so far and still is hard for me to gain rubies. When I do use the rubies in the pipe I get nothing new 🤦🏾‍♀️ I mean I get it repeated characters, carts and gliders help upgrade but I trust me you can’t notice those upgrades. So if you are looking for a game to kill time then this is it. But if you are the type of person who is competitive than this might not be for you. Oh I almost forgot about the leading board, I think that’s what is called, yeah you can forget about getting first place it’s just not going to happen 🙅🏾‍♂️. So don’t get frustrated if you don’t climb, or if you where in third and the next day you are in the 16th place. The numbers are not fair, in my opinion they are designed or programmed this way to slow progress. Also I have a membership that I can’t take advantage of!!! I hope I get a refund or credit for the days I have not been able to collect my premium gifts.

Few Key Features Missing. Overall this is a great game and I enjoy playing it. I look forward to new cups and tours and enjoy the challenges that come with them. That being said, I still think there are two key features this app is missing: 1) Why is there no storage/ inventory to view all the items I currently have? If I want to see how many item boxes I have, I need to start a race. If I want to see how many quick tickets I have, I need to click on a cup under construction (which isn’t possible if you have all of them unlocked). An inventory or storage tab would be a simple fix to this problem. 2) (FIXED) Why are the badges earned from the first tour no longer available to use for display? Unless you kept a badge from a preceding tour as your displayed badge, you no longer have access to them. This is really unfortunate as I really liked a badge from the first tour that I simply don’t have access to anymore even though I earned it by completing the challenge. This could also be fixed by possibly putting it in the inventory/ storage tab. Or even making a “Badges” tab where players can scroll through all the Badges they’ve earned and build their collection.

Too expensive. Had to change my 5* review to a 1* review. This game used to be so fun. However, it's clear now they are implementing new ways to make more money. Used to get 6-9 high ends with 91-94 other items for 450 rubies. But now 3 high end drivers cost 450 rubies. Where is the logic? If they wanted to do away with the exciting pipe system they could've added more ways to earn rubies. Aside from the price of items in the spotlight shop, it's not even fun because they just smacked them all together. I liked how you could only get certain drivers during certain tours as it added more of a challenge / rarity for certain drivers. This is the longest game l've ever played, as I usually get bored, but it's sad to say Nintendo is killing the game fast. P.s. Does Nintendo ever test new modes before release? How is it that they released multiplayer battle but before one could even play it’s already under indefinite maintenance -_- Update 11/2: didn’t think it was possible for Nintendo to drop the ball lower but here we are. Token shop decreased to two rows, tier shop doesn’t feature any drivers/karts anymore, just tickets which are also extremely hard to gain now. Overall, Nintendo is just sucking the fun right out of this game with their greed. I don’t know why I’m paying for gold pass anymore. Terrible.

Ugh😔. I absolutely love this game, it is my favorite on the App Store by a wide margin. I have poured money into this game because it’s just that fun. Sure, there are things I could complain about, but I have come onto a game-breaking glitch that has sapped all the fun out of the game for me. Since launch, about once a cup the game kicked me out, it didn’t bother me that much though. About a week or so ago, however, courses start to kick me out in the middle of the race, this happens for almost every course at least once or twice, and some courses it will straight up just NOT let me complete them, no matter how much I try. With the new incentive to clear all the cups and not being able to obtain grand stars that I NEED if I want anything at all, I sadly am forced to delete this game forever. This game would get a solid 5 stars otherwise though, please give it a chance. I should add that I have reinstalled and the developers have reinstalled it too, but that has done nothing. Developers, PLEASE help me get this bug fixed, I really love this game and want to keep playing, but I just can’t do it anymore. I will change my review if you can help me but this is the highest rating I feel I can go at this point.

Fun game with one major flaw. I’ve downloaded and played this game for months now and bought the Gold Pass which is $5 a month. Honestly the game is a ton of fun and I hate that I have to give this a 3 star review. The good prizes - all of the high-end and super characters, carts, gliders - are just impossible to get. No high end items ever end up on the Shop so it’s pointless saving up your coins. And It’s super frustrating how time consuming it is working your way through to build up 45 rubies to fire 10 items from the pipe, only to get absolutely nothing you need. I get that it’s all by chance but I’ve gone months now without unlocking a new item so it makes it pointless to even purchase rubies, which are overpriced to begin with. The rubies are so hard to build up and it’s disappointing time after time to trade them in and get nothing valuable. Unfortunately I’ve cancelled my Gold Pass subscription as I’ve seen no value in it whatsoever. I have no issue with the price of the subscription or any of the in app purchases like rubies - just make it worth it if users do end up purchasing. I’m not sure if other users are having a similar experience or maybe I’m just unlucky.

Fun, but “Pay-to-Win”. I was very excited when Mario Kart came to mobile, and the game was fun to play (at first). However, the game clearly pushes people to pay substantial amounts of money to be the most competitive/to win. If you don’t pay, well...good luck. Winning the race is one thing (something I can do most of the time). Getting high scores on a race in order to compete in tiers and among friends (which is the entire point of the game) depends on having the top-tiered driver, kart, and glider for each race. To obtain these top-tier items, one must spend rubies to shoot the “pipe”...which gives you the chance to win items. However, the chances of getting a top-tier item are extremely rare. Thus, to ensure you unlock even one (much less all) of the needed top-tier items, one would easily need to spend $50+ to get the rubies necessary to shoot the pipe that amount of times. To make things worse— each new tour has completely new top characters. This means one would have to spend substantial amounts of money to unlock the new top-tier characters all over again. Oh, by the way, there is a new tour each week, meaning one (at a minimum) would easily spend $200+ per month just to compete. This is purely a money-grab, pay-to-win game. Unless they change this formula, I wouldn’t waste your time playing.

Game is too desperate for your attention. This game was very obviously designed by a group of marketing execs and not game designers. This is ultimately an "Adventure capitalist" style game where there isn't any real gameplay, but instead the main point is to accrue imaginary coins and achievements and chase meaningless leaderboard status. This app is so cluttered, so constantly forcing you to sit there for 5 mins and watch yourself get USELESS imaginary coins for achievements that aren't impressive or compelling at all. Im not sure who this game is even for -- little children whose competence and attention span you do not trust, or grown adults so neurotically obsessed with online rankings and imaginary achievements that you just need to get them hooked on in app purchases. When I want to play this game, I can't; what I get instead is 10 mins of this app trying to force me to care about things (challenges, leaderboards, achievements that you can get by accident) that would require in app purchases to achieve consistently. By the time it's done trying to force me to care about all the cluttered nonsense on this app, I no longer want to spend any time engaging with nintendo content. Truly an embarrassing moment for the state of Nintendo that rather than design GAMES, they are designing psychological traps to garner more in app purchase revenue.

Money hungry. This game is just money hungry. My first review was deleted so I am writing this. In short, it is all about the golden pass (subscription). With golden pass you get so many things like a faster pace option, more items in gifts, things that can give a huge edge to someone who pays as opposed to someone who doesn't pay. The shop is trash, the first purple item showed up in like 1 month, and as for the gold items, every time I am in the ranking competition it is funny how for a whole week not a single purple, gold or silver item that would help me showed up there but they did show up in the golden pass (coincidence?) With the new update they also added multiplayer feature and I was excited until I read that you have to have golden pass to try it out. Missing a total feature just because you want money is TRASH. And also I am happy they included stickers when choosing the driver, car and glider for the race, it helps, but also it shows a pink sticker saying check shop for special offer. I checked the items and nothing showed up. Then I realized special offer meant the ones you have to pay about 30 bucks depending on the offer. They also have a golden pass sticker btw. This game is the definition of a money hungry game just like the mario run game and it might as well fail just as hard.

Great game but needs some improvements. Ok so don’t get me wrong, I love this game. When I heard that Nintendo was releasing Mario kart to mobile devices I was stoked! So let’s get into the issues. First off, the multiplayer aspect. I was honestly looking forward to multiplayer when I got the game. But I was surprised that it wasn’t released yet since the game was delayed a bit ago. I would like to think that multiplayer would be released by now but it isn’t. Another thing is the fact that we have to wait a certain amount of time for tours to be unlocked. I just find that kinda annoying because as of right now I can’t play any new tours because the next tour has two days until it’s accessible to be played. I understand that you guys are doing your best but I mean the game was delayed by a few months and in that time stamp I would think at least multiplayer would be released. I just hope that it’s released soon. Other than the current issues I love the game. This really brings a new aspect to mobile games and I look forward to the near future of this game. And maybe you guys could look into releasing some other Nintendo related games. Hope this review gets a reply.

Strange nuances of a complete game. I remember buying the original Mario Kart for the wii when it came out over a decade ago. It was my favorite game for several years and still ranks in my top ten to this day. Unfortunately, this game makes me feel like I’m playing a pirated version of that one. I understand that the mobile experience will never be the same, but the mechanics of the game, as well as the currency system, make it much less enjoyable than it could be. The major problem I have is that the point system is disproportionately luck based, whether it’s RNG determining whether you get hit with 5 shells in a row or not, or it’s the collection system that doesn’t give you the item and point advantage that you essentially need to get 5 stars, unless you buy more gems to have more options, of course. I could see how this game is designed to encourage the player to come back to previous cups after collecting more characters, but that seems pointless. The collection system and ruby micro-transactions borderline pay to win gameplay. The races themselves create the odd illusion that you’re playing against real people by assigning random usernames to AIs. Overall, the game is fun, but doesn’t reward the player for skill nearly as much as it should, which makes it frustrating and sometimes not worth it to play.

pretty good but needs some improvements. Overall i feel that this is a really good starting point for the game but could use some quality of life improvements per say. First of the controls, now the current variety of controls is fine and all but one new control could change everything for this game and really get a new player base; horizontal tilt controls. Sort of like how the original mario kart had on the old wii with the steering wheel but now instead of the buttons for gas or for using an item you could have the gas on one side of the screen as just a press(or swipe up and down for reverse and forwards) and then have the other side swipe up and down for which way the item is thrown. This change will most likely bring in a lot of old players who wish for that nostalgic feel and new players who want to try out this new controls. It honestly it a far better steering system than what you have now. Other than the steering controls i feel the game is a pretty good and can’t wait for multiplayer! (it better be free or this rating is dropping very far down: or at least a small one time fee like 0.99 cents)

Deleting. Don’t bother installing this. I’ve been playing since the day it was released (currently a level 61 player) and I can no longer deal with it wasting my time. It’s blatantly a pay to win game. They won’t even try and hide the fact the AI doesn’t want you to win and that the other players are only targeting you. You won’t do well on the teirs if you don’t pay because the others your against will have skill levels much higher than yours. It’s almost like they’re trying to force you to spend on this rip off, but I’ll never give this game a penny due to how unfair it is. The objective is to be the best racer and win the race, right? But it doesn’t matter how good you know how to play the game you will not do well in it if you’re not spending money. Don’t even get me started on the unfair hits. There have been plenty of times where my driver can have a red turtle and another weapon like a banana shielding me from crashing from any hits, and somehow the person behind me hits me with a red or green turtle and despite my shields I crash. However, I can hit them with something and they have the same boost shielding them and nothing will happen other than them losing one of their boost. Let’s not forget when somehow you get hit from first to sixth right as you’re crossing the finish line just to ruin your score.

Fun to play, but more fun if you pay. The gameplay is great. Love it. What I don’t love is how I’m constantly reminded that I could be doing better if I were to pay money. I don’t mind paying some money, but it seems excessive. If I want to be competitive in the tours, I have to pay to get the right drivers/carts/gliders. I thought that the more I played the more I’d naturally get new drivers/carts/gliders. Which is true. But, new versions of these are introduced at a rate that requires spending an excessive amount of money to keep up with. Even the monthly subscription really doesn’t provide enough benefit unless you are willing to spend more money in addition to the monthly cost. Seldom can I buy with in-game coins the top drivers needed for the weekly competitive challenges. I need to spend real money, or have enough rubies to shoot the pipe repeatedly (takes more rubies than I can get without spending real money). *sigh* In conclusion, great game if you want to casually do a race every once in a while. The competitive nature of the game gets old/frustrating really quickly unless you are willing to spend $25+ dollars per month, which adds up quickly and to me, is more than this game is worth.
