Please update the app. I have been using the night owl camera system for about six months now. I really like the system, the camera and picture quality is really good both day and night. The are very easy to set up, mount, and connect. The problem I have is the app. When I access the cameras remotely, I am not able to consistently receive the video both live and recorded. It seems to be stuck in a “buffering” situation. Sometimes the app will not connect to the system at all and I have to log out and log back in. This does not happen when watching the cameras on the monitor connected to the system. The system in hardwired to the high speed internet router in the house and I do not loose internet connection very often. The problem seems to just be on the app. Please update the app for more reliable functionality. Otherwise this is a great system.

Shake my head. I thought from mostly seeing these comments almost a year ago that the app would be fixed. I guess not. The cameras work just fine and I can see it clearly on my TV but the app just isn’t it. It’s frustrating logging in when it logs you out and have to reset the password all over again. Then when it logs in, the camera is frozen on a picture and it says offline but i can see it working just fine on my TV. Then a few hours later the app works like nothing happened. It’s just cycle. Another small problem is that when you rewatch a recorded video, it doesn’t let you fast forward or rewind. You have to set there and watch the full video from beginning til end. So it would be cool to have the option to rewind and fast forward. Anyways, please fix the app it’s been a year now that I see these bad reviews and I relate to them all. Thank you, we would all appreciate it.

Does not work consistently. First of all, the cameras work great. But the app is so bad, half the time the cameras don’t do me any good. I deleted the basement camera off the app months ago because the only thing it ever alerted me to was the wind blowing! I tried adjusting the sensitivity but that did not help. One day, my alarm started going off, but alas, I had deleted my basement camera and could not see who had set off my alarm. Fortunately it was my housekeeper but that could have been bad! The front porch one is not as bad, I’m assuming because the wind is more blocked by the porch roof. But on the Fourth of July, the alerts were incessant. It was just my flag blowing in the wind. However, a lot of times, the app will not load at all. So, if an actual person was on my porch, ringing my doorbell, I would not be able to get it to load fast enough to see who it is. And in the last couple of weeks, the app stopped working all together. Now it just spins. My cameras are now totally useless. A bunch of people worked really hard installing these cameras for me, not to mention, I paid a lot for them. If this does not get resolved soon, I will be forced to shell out another couple hundred bucks to buy more cameras that are a different brand and hope if those nice people will come back and install them for me.

If I had a penny for every minute searching thru the user UNfriendly APP!. I agree with that previous review.. I REALLY WANT TO LOVE THIS but can’t! The APP is the problem. Since having this camera & APP I have had 6 items stolen from my property. The camera has disconnected a few times but the APP refuses to alllow me to rewind! I have to click on the previous day.. start at midnight, then CAREFULLY forward an hour at a time. DONT GO TO FAST OR PUSH TO FAR AHEAD o you’ll be watching paint dry as it loads for an hour & have to start ALLLLL OVER anyway! I Am over spending every night watching paint dry on this app! It took my life over! Better off pulling down the camera, unscrewing the screws, pull out the sim, put it in the laptop, and watch with an APP THAT IS USER FRIENDLY! (you know.. fast forward, rewind PAUSE! brightness adjustment, a date & time you can SEE over a white background!!) if you pass where you intended to stop it loads forever till you wanna rip your hair out deciding if you should just start at midnight again or pull down the camera?? Cuz it’ll be THAT much easier than this app! I pray I can return this still. Of course I really haven’t found GREAT REVIEWS on any camera app yet! & yes I has the less expensive stand alone camera, but that shouldn’t matter, when the camera would rock if the APP did!

Horrible. This app truly is the worst. We travel for work and in the 7 months we’ve had the cameras the app has continuously let us down. Half the time you can’t even login and when you finally can you can hardly watch your recordings playback. We got a glimpse of a man walking on our front porch on Saturday but of course the only thing we can get to play back on this horrid app is 3 seconds of footage in the middle of the recording, and of course the cameras facing our driveway won’t give us any playback from that day either so we have no idea where this man came from or where he went to. I have not a single good word to say about this app. It needs to be fixed ASAP because the cameras are useless when the app is never working especially you are always on the road away from home. I do not recommend these cameras at all solely based on how awful the app is.

Huge improvement. Ever since I got this system, I thought it was the biggest piece of junk ever, as far as trying to view playback and stuff. It was very skippy, slow, app took forever to open, it almost wasn’t worth having. I was just about to give up on it until this last update. I don’t know what they did or how but it’s almost like it’s a totally different system now. It runs how I thought it would run when I first got it. It’s literally unbelievable, I having trouble believing it’s even the same thing I originally purchased but it is. Good job guys, you have saved the whole entire night owl name in my opinion, go have yourself a beer, you’ve earned it. Saved me from having to get a whole new system, I’m completely satisfied with this one now. Thanks guys, keep up the good work!!

Disappointed. Very disappointed in this app experience. We have two of the last model NVRs installed at another location and have grown to love the app used over there. Picked up two new NVRs and were forced into using the new app. I’ve contacted support on more than two handfuls of occasions with concerns only to be told sorry. The frustration is that the app lacks basic playback functions that the old app contained, such as rewinding and fast forwarding events recorded. Even the screenshots for this version show the functions we are looking for but the app does not have! It’s very disappointing. I’ve asked if we can use the old version only to be told no. Update in response to developer response - I appreciate your response but if your app does not allow for this functionality then the images displayed on this download page should not show this functionality. You should also allow your customers to use a most robust version of your app, like your other iterations of apps. This is doing a disservice to your customers and it’s driving business away. I’m happy to discuss this further and provide open and honest feedback to you if you’d actually respond to my support tickets and phones calls.

Terrible App. Often times, I receive an error message saying “Invalid token, please log in again” Ok, fine I go to log out so I can log in again but nope, I now get another error message saying “Log out failure” So finally, I have to literally uninstall and reinstall the app, log in again, just to get it working… For a security system, I expect to have it working at all times in case there’s an emergency. What if I need to check it when something dangerous is going on and I have to do that entire process? And trust me, I have worked in IT and have tried all the troubleshooting steps. My internet works perfectly fine, the receiver’s firmware has been updated, my router and the receiver are in places where there should be no connection problems. Skip this entire system including the hardware and get something tried and true.

Function Great/App Lacks. Just purchased a system over the Holidays. Install was a breeze. The cameras work just as expected. They even have a spotlight that is bright as can be which kicks on when sensing motion. The mechanical side of the Night Owl system is a 5-star. The app is where the trouble is. I get notifications for motion, go to open the app and it will crash. I have to restart my phone and try to open the app again. Sometimes it works, sometimes I need to restart again. Another issue, when I open the app, it will tell me I need to connect to the internet, whether I’m on cellular or WiFi. It will not pick up my device. So I restart the device, and open app. Then if I don’t have the crash issue, it will work. I will say, when the app works, it’s great. It’s easy to get where you want to go, picture quality is perfect. Motion is much better than my previous Vivint security system. Bottom line, if you have patience, I recommend this system. The app is frustrating and takes multiple times to get where you want to be. It’s a developer issue which will be fixed over time, so I don’t mind being patient. Device: iPhone XS Max, most recent update. App has most recent update as well. Verizon cellular.

Cameras good; app bad!. The cameras work well and picture quality is good. There are lots of settings to allow you to personalize your cameras. It’s great to be able to access and view your live feed remotely, however sometimes the live feed glitches and the playback feature NEVER works! I can play a clip for 5-10 seconds and then it will freeze EVERY TIME! Lots of other people seem to have the same issue. It’s so frustrating that the only response Night Owl has is “try a better internet connection”. My internet connection is good, how about you try fixing your app! It would be great to have more and better options like being able to speed up playback, skip through playback, and to be able to view motion detection clips. I receive motion detection notifications, but absolutely no motion detection clips appear in the app. I hope Night Owl invests in app development...I think it could be a really great product, but unfortunately, as it stands right now the app is almost totally useless.

Is this a beta test?. I just upgraded my system from an older Night Owl system. The old system used the Night Owl HD app. How is it that the old app was able to do do so much more than this app? The only conclusion I can come up with is either this is a beta test or you want to force us to pay a monthly fee to your cloud subscription (that you can’t even subscribe to right now) just to get what was standard before. No remote playback. Notifications without events available unless you cut off the human detection on the cameras. Even then it is almost never. I’m thinking about just using the new cameras on my old system, so that I don’t have to use this horrible app. The only thing I will miss is being able to remotely turn on and off the spotlight on the cameras. I won’t be able to use the human detection but that almost never works right either. When it did work right I think it was by accident.

Disappointed. We installed the cameras because we had trouble with people not leaving our children alone, even in front of our home, in what’s supposed to be a great neighborhood. At first, the app worked great. Now the notifications are barely there, when I do get a notification and open the app, it’s either saying “offline” or just continuously says “connecting”, or when it says online and I try to view my cameras, it’ll just continuously load and not show me anything. My cameras are hardwired to our internet modem, and my phone always has signal. I’m very disappointed, especially considering when I get a notification, even if I needed to call the police..by the time I might be able to see anything on the cameras, whatever was happening would have been done and/or people/person would be gone. My app is up to date as well. I hope this gets fixed, or we will have to purchase different cameras with a working app so we actually feel safe and actually are satisfied with our investment for a little more security.

WiFi / iPhone connectivity. I would like to give a better star rating because the direct hookup to the monitor shows that the system is doing well, but it seems that we keep loosing our connectivity through the phones, I keep getting “invalid token try to log on again” and there seems to be no way around it? Please don’t tell me that I have to delete this app and re install it because then that goes to show that this is a bigger issue especially for non IT geek type of folks, it should never come down to kill and reinstall unless IT Geeks are not properly trained in troubleshooting a system, please far be it from me to say maybe a patch may have done this to me and my wife because I know it happens but I would have also assumed that some sort of fix would have been pushed so people again that are non IT doesn’t have to go through the trouble of getting it all reconnect once again. Please I would again upgrade my experience and star rating if someone can answer why I get this on my app: “invalid token try to log on again” Thanks and have a great day. Respectfully, Eric C.

Useless for anything except basic playback. So, it works, most of the time. It will play back footage saved as well, albeit not very nicely. But, two HUGE issues that makes this useless: 1. When trying to save/playback videos, it displays them in 1 hour increments, which is annoying. But when you try to save them at all, it shows “file too large, use device to download”. WHATS THE POINT OF A DOWNLOAD OPTION THEN? There’s no settings to change the file length in-app either. So saving is useless for videos. 2. After a few weeks at best, you get an “invalid token, please sign in again” message, and have to sign out and back in again. This issue has existed for a LOOOOOOOOONG time, like over a year at least. The sad bit is, the devs either can’t or have no real interest in improving the app much, as the last update was over a year ago. You get what you pay for I guess. It’s my parents camera system, but I will certainly be using a different brand at my place unless this improves. It’s sad, really. It could be so good, but it just isn’t.

App doesn’t work. I’ve had problems with this system since the day I got it from Costco (1.5 years ago) but now, even though I have reset the system, deleted and reinstalled everything the app will not connect. When I ran a diagnostic on the main screen it says everything is connected to the internet, so it has to be this terrible mobile app. Honestly, I am not one to leave reviews, but this is the WORST system I have ever used by a long shot. There’s absolutely no help/support, even their “troubleshooting” page doesn't actually have any relevant information. If you are doing the smart thing and checking reviews before buying (like I wish I did) RUN! Do not waste your money. I’m assuming the only reason why they have a 2 star average is because the company paid a few 5 star in there, cause no one in their right mind could possibly give it anything higher than a 1 (I wish zero was an option). Time to go pull all the wires and go buy a new system that will actually work.

I knew it was going to be different.... Coming from the Arlo cameras I knew this system was going to be different, but not this much... cameras work great, definition is there but the app LACKS so many good essential features. I wanted an “upgrade” but can’t believe this app is missing so many good features, even from the gen 1 Arlo cameras which is what I’m coming from, YES! gen 1... Why not have only one screen with all 6,8,10 cameras in it? Can’t put cameras in the order I want, I have to swipe to next screen to see the camera I want to see. Can’t adjust camera brightness from the app, landscape mode? Nope not supported... you can just play and pause recorded clips and select live view from the app, anything else forget about it... the technology is there is just not put to work for some reason. This camera system/app needs a total revamp. I think i’m returning this system and getting a new Arlo... I really want to like this camera system and app, cameras are wireless, easy to mount, easy to install and super easy to sync and range is pretty good but I just can’t keep it with all these simple features missing right now. Hope Night Owl listens to customers concerns and try to deal with them. Thanks in advance if you do. Looks like Night Owl is listening! We’ll look for future updates, 😎 thank you!

Buyer Beware. Worst app ever. Cameras aren’t the best quality but I can deal with that. It is the app that frustrates me most and honestly gives me anxiety. Every time I try to access the cameras it takes at least 5 minutes to access them. I often get invalid token often and have to log out in order to gain access again so may take longer then 5 minutes to reconnect. These cameras are supposed to give a sense of security and in no way shape or form do they give me security. If something where to be happening I would have no idea of what’s going on or it’ll be too late since I wouldn’t be able to catch anything in time. Not only that it doesn’t properly record movement. For instance my dogs where outside barking at something I go to look at my cameras to see what they’re barking at and of course I cannot access it because it does not load so okay I wait the few minutes and several refreshes it takes to look at the recording. Go to look and there is no recording of what just happen not even of my dogs and they where 100% in view of the camera.

Fix the App!. My parents have these cameras installed and at first, everything was great. Living overseas, my parents have my dogs temporarily so I could log into the app and check on my dogs playing in the yard anytime I wanted. Not only that, my dad could check in on the house (due to some stuff getting vandalized in the neighborhood) while he’s at work and my mom is home all alone. After September, the app stopped working. Now the cameras only work if you are at home and watch from the tv my parents have set up to monitor. It’s now January and Night Owl tech support has no answers as to why or when this problem will be fixed. I’m about to buy my parents a whole new system if Night Owl doesn’t get this problem fixed! When the app works, it’s literally a great system. App is easy to use and manageable. Fix it Night Owl or our money will be going somewhere else

needs serious improvement!. This app is horrible !! I wish I knew this app was this bad before getting these cameras because I would of gotten other ones that had a better app. It’s very irritating how it signs you off all the time and you have to keep on logging in ...such an inconvenience. For emergencies this app is not reliable sometimes you hear things outside and it takes forever to load and tells you that one of the cameras is offline when you were just on that camera. What’s even more aggravating is that it works fine with no wifi and you can use your service to access to your cameras but sometimes it makes you turn on your wifi or else you can’t see anything. This app needs so much work and it’s so disappointing since night owl the camera it’s self is a great camera but the app which we rely on is awful!!! I hope they fix this problem because we’ve spent so much on these cameras for this app to fail on us every time ! So not happy !

Needs to have notifications. I used the other app Night Owl X with iPhone 8 Plus IOS 12.4 it was ok but actually worked. Since iPhone updated to iOS 13 it wouldn’t load for me. I deleted it and also created a whole new account still nothing. So I figured I would try this app. It loads but like others have said it needs to have Options like for example motion alerts. It only gives live feed. Unless I’m over looking it I don’t see it, I work nights like a lot of people and it would be awesome to have a notification let me know when motion is detected when I am not home like the other app. Night Owl X. I keep hearing Night Owl telling us we will soon see a UPDATED APP but with better features but here we are 8 months later and nothing. Very disappointing. Update:App still lags needs an update or something

PLEASE FIX THE APP. The quality of cameras are great I can’t complain but since this is solely based on app performance I must say, it’s been a terrible experience . I receive notifications of motion detection meaning my cameras are up and running and getting connection but the actual app won’t connect and it won’t allow me to live view my cameras. This is a very serious issue and I hope they find a solution and gives us some re assurance . App developers must work on this ASAP. It has very high potential to lose customer satisfaction. Again, the cameras itself are excellent . Have it hooked up to my tv and all and it’s high quality streaming . BUT THE APP IS HORRIBLE . I like to view my cameras when I’m away from home since I receive many packages but now I can’t and feel the lack of security. Please contact your customers very soon I’m not the only one who’s having issues !!!

Night Owl Cameras compared to Ring cameras. Hi. I first owned a couple Ring Flood Light Cameras but recently moved and first had the chance to run wires for my Night Owl Security system. Overall, I’m extremely pleased. Once set-up was complete and internet installed I have the Night Owl System working seamlessly. Very comparable products in my opinion with Night Owl being a fraction of the price. I have 8 cameras up at less than half of the cost for 2 Ring flood lights and a year subscription to their services. So way to go, NightOwl. Seems you guys worked out many of the app kinks because so far, so good! Keep putting out quality products. A much appreciated customer

Can never see my cameras when I need them. Since day one, everytime I needed to see something the system makes me log out and then back in. Now it doesn’t even let me log out to log back in to see what I need to see. I find myself going to the ring for iníciate views of things and them manually having to go into the system when I get home. I thought this this would be better system would be better since I purchased it at Costco. They usually have quality products. However, this system is just useless. It’s sad because the cameras have decent quality, it’s the system it’s self. The Dr is not user friendly. You can’t scroll quickly to where you want. You can only let segments play to view and if you missed it you have to view the entire segment again. So you FFwd it to get there and then pass the part that you want to view again. Poor design. I am going to return this product. Thank God it’s o has a great return policy. You can return it at any time as long as your a member.

App doesn’t work. I’ve had the security camera for over 2 years now and before I would be able to go back and watch my events and even rewind or fast forward. I’ve had a neighbor have a break in and I wanted to go back and rewatch to see if I could help in anyway. I can barely watch 10 sec of it and it’ll freeze and I’d have to start over. I can’t even fast forward it to skip the unnecessary part. Worst app ever. The cameras itself is decent but you would think they’d fix the app by now. Id sometimes get “invalid token” and id have to restart the app and sign in and out again or it’ll tell me I do not have any cameras set up. Please fix your app and do better. As a customer, I shouldn’t have to go through all that just to watch if someone is lurking outside my house.

Cmon man.. This app makes me want to pull my hair out! I really love the system but can you guys seriously not keep the app working smoothly for more than a week at a time before there’s some issue again? I’m so angry that for the first time I went to the website to complain, I usually just bust your chops on the comments but I was away for a week and suddenly couldn’t connect again but continued to get alerts telling me someone was at my door and at 2am yesterday it alerts that a human was detected in my living room! I’m almost a 1000 miles away from home and this thing tells me some ones in my living room but I’m unable to connect. I cut my trip 2 days short and came home only to find this system is getting worse and my home was fine. I’m seriously starting to think this app is being ran by a bunch of frat guy’s that only give the app attention when you’re not hazing the new pledges or throwing a keger! ? I have a 20$ camera watching my kennels that works flawlessly. I’ll get you the name of it so you can contact their technicians and get a few pointers! Have a good day party on Wayne

Waste of $. I’ll start by saying we’ve had the system a few months now. Cameras are great - great quality, color, and easy hookup- we hardwired ours. That’s where the greatness stops. Can’t view the cameras if you keep getting “invalid token” errors on app and you have to reset the whole friggin system every few weeks. (My internet is Comcast extra fast bc we stream on the tv without a problem. I have an iPhone utd. Again not the problem.) It’s the app! It booted all users at the same time so not one of us can check the cameras. Not very safe/worthy. Next comes the view back of the feed. You can’t fast forward- you have to sit and watch an entire hour of feed to find what you’re looking for. Unfortunately you just wasted a whole hour to find only wind blowing trees. NEEDS A FAST FORWARD OPTION!!!! I worked w cctv cameras which were fuzzy and black n white, but the playback and editing options were 5 star compared to this!!! It was reliable and time efficient. We spent a lot of money on this and are really disappointed in it as a whole!!! I work in law enforcement/security and I will be advising others not to waste their money or time on this bc it’s not worth it. I will update my review if these issues get fixed, but I’m not holding my breath as I see old reviews with the same issues.

Login Fail. 10/30 Update: I went from getting push notifications all day long to nothing at all. Not a one. I prefer being notified all day long than not at all for security reasons, especially at night and when no one is home. I don't know what happened. Feels like the developers were trying to fix something that wasn't broken and now can’t fix what they broke. Shame because I really love the quality and features of the cameras. If only the app would follow suit. 2 stars for the camera. 0 stars for this app. ***************************************** Aside from setting the sensitivity to the lowest setting I get notifications all day long when the leaves on the tree blow with the wind...annoying but at least I know it works. Tonight, for some apparent reason, I stopped getting push notifications and I only noticed because I heard a slew of cars driving by and found it weird that my notifications weren’t going off. Appears I wasnt logged in so I tried logging in. Nope. Login failed. Reset a dozen times. Login failed a dozen times. Must be an issue with the app? No idea but not being able to check my cameras is not providing me a secure feeling. Hope it gets corrected sooner than later. Annoying.

Not great. So this app definitely has some issues. The whole playback feature on it is AWFUL. I'm lucky to get 1 event played back if I click on it. Most of the time I need to close the app and try again. Forget trying to get 2 play backs in a row, not a chance or best yet the app just closes out and kicks me out. For hard wired cameras I would've thought the app quality to display what its look at would be able to pick up more. Forget reading a license plate or getting an accurate description of someone, if you have too. However I will say the quality when you pull up the video on a TV or monitor is really good; no where near perfect. But not bad. Overall, my parents have ring cameras. Will probably upgrade to those in the near future unless things change with the app.

No push notifications, system now offline. UPDATE: I had dragged it down to update like you said and there is no change. My cameras are STILL offline and can not be viewed with the app. I had a family member download the app and log in and the app doesn’t work on their phone either. I have uninstalled the app and downloaded and installed again, signed in-out-in and I STILL am not getting a single notification and there are no events listed. For the price of this system, you could at least give us a functioning app. The cameras do absolutely no good if nothing is being recorded! As of last night, my app says the system is offline. I have refreshed the app, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, logged out and in, STILL says offline. Can you please hire some developers that know what the heck they are doing and fix the dang app?!?

Sorry to say I’m not real happy. I recently had your system installed after buying a 2 camera system from blink and not being happy with only 60 sec clips because of the system being wireless. I pay someone who installs normally for business to pick my system and install it. Why do your cameras not come with audio? My installer had to install a microphone on one camera so I can monitor my DD son’s interactions with his home staff. For what I paid for this installed it was twice the price of blink which I could not only hear what was going on but also drop in. Not with your system. If I want to view previously recorded timeframes the app only allows me to monitor one hour at a time and no fast forwarding or rewinding to speed up my reviewing. Anything I can do on my end to get what I’m looking for without having to invest more money?

Cameras are ok at close range but app needs work along with the cams. Update: I received a response from the developer that this is for night owl and not Logitech. I thought it was clear that the NIGHT OWL I paid so much more money for did not work nearly as well and the issues I was having were with the NIGHT OWL app. I had to finally give up on my Logitech wireless cams and liked the night owl cams because you could add cams and they were wireless. After mounting them could not review anything through the app, CS said it was because I did not have enough upload bandwidth so I added the max I could from Comcast. That helped with a short (15-20 second) video but the longer ones just don’t load. You cannot adjust the views or hear anything when in portrait mode. Would not recommend these since this camera is years newer than the less expensive ones I had and do not work nearly as good

Mediocre App. This app has been fine for me since it’s free. It’s quality is very free price worthy. The image and recording part of the cameras is fine. Crisp picture and sound day or night. We’ve had these cameras for a little over a year and a half. The app has gotten stronger and they have fixed a lot of the issues. For several months now the only problem I will have occasionally is it saying “no recording” which I assume is because the memory card is full. Just recently the app has stopped pushing notifications despite all the settings being correct. This is the first time it’s happened in awhile. Recommend if you need a low key system to just check in on things. If you need high security then this isn’t the best for that.

Don’t bother with these cameras!. Cameras might be at a reasonable price , that’s where the good ends with this company. Software is atrocious, I’m truly surprise at the developers and group managers. Their lackadaisical attitude to develop a better product, their lack of imagination, common sense it’s just unbelievable. Although many suggestions and remarks were made 2 years ago , I still have not seen any major improvements of the software. With this software you can not advance , fast forward or simply forward any frames , you literally have to watch the entire recording time even if you just wanted to watch 5 or 10 seconds from a clip. I regret purchasing this product. Lesson learned. If you’re looking for quality for both cameras and software to view your recordings don’t go Night Owl, Orlo might be a bit pricy but it’s worth every single dollar you spend on it. I wish I can take these cameras back to the store, I’ll be happy even if I get half of what I paid for.

Frustrated. So this is our family’s first set of cameras, I’m a mother of 2 young kids & live in a pretty rough neighborhood. So we set everything up, it was working perfectly fine for a couple days. Until yesterday afternoon, when we would go to the app my husband & I it would keep saying “offline” but I know it’s working perfectly fine because my kids are watching a movie on Netflix which requires internet. So now we have to rely on our tv but when we’re not home what then. It’s frustrating using money to buy a product & all the features don’t work. Now I pray when we’re not home nothing happens. I really wish they could fix this issue because I love how the cameras look on our tv & we’re planning on buying more cameras but with this app issue it seems like it’ll be a waste of money. Please fix the app !!

Remote Playback Doesn’t Work. We’ve had this system for a few months and have been waiting for something to start working. But it still hasn’t. The playback is great while you are at the location and using the hardwired system. But the second you want to use the app when you’re away, you’re screwed. Half the time the app crashes and I have to sign out and log back in. Push notifications come and go. And I can NEVER watch a playback whenever I get a notification. Which is when I’d like to see what is going on. Instead it just buffers and I can’t watch it until I get back to the main system, or wait 24+ hours for it to finally load to the app. Very poor app design for something that is being used as security. I hope you can resolve this quickly so the app is actually useful. Because right now, it’s just about useless.

App Does NOT Work. As pretty much every other new review has stated this app is garbage. The camera and physical device work fine however the app is completely useless. If you haven’t already purchased this system…DON‘T. I have had issues with the app for the 2 years I’ve own the system, however now it is completely unusable. The app tells me invalid token which has been an issue in the past. I go to log out and reenter my information and the app will not let you log out. It gives you an error message saying it’s unable to even do that. I’ve read other negative reviews seeing if anyone has gotten a response and they just put their support number. Well I’ve called that and the support number pretty much just says they can’t help you (via an automated message no human) then disconnects. This is garbage. I shouldn’t have to buy an entire new security system for my business just because you all can’t develop a working app. All my new locations use Eufy and it is a dream. Looks like I’m about to fork over another $500 for a new system with an actual company that can make not only better quality cameras but also a working app. Fix your app Night Owl you’re literally robbing your customers with incompetence.

A complete joke. Among the other problems the other reviewers stated, the cameras were all connected peacefully until they needed to be moved to a new spot. Called the technical support who was an extreme waste of space. The dude sat on the phone silently not answering anything. I politely said “hello?” His responsewas filled with a nasty tone “yea im here”. My response was “sir i did what you said and let you know but you sat and said nothing so i assumed the call disconnected”. He basically told me to do what i had been doing already for hours and what he already instructed me to do later in the phone call. I told him there were only two cameras connected to the same app and i was only attempting to reconnect the same cameras i had for months and his response “well thats why. It’s because you have two cameras on the same app” well hey stupid what do you think was on the app for months.... also as an update to the previous complaints in previous reviews, the app team nor camera company fixed any of the issues because the same thing they complained about is the same thing that still happens in other review sites plus on my cameras so 🤷🏽‍♀️ Response to the developer: Not much to look into as you have absolutely no information on the event because you have yet to contact me via any communication means. Your automated reply further proves the uselessness of this customer service/technical assistance team. “We will look into it!” *continues to finish hotpocket and cheap beer*

We got duped.. This has to be the worst camera system on the market. There is almost zero control over anything. The app is laughable. I get an ‘invalid token’ error about once per month or more and have to delete the app and reload to view anything. The clarity from the cameras is not very good. I can’t distinguish people’s faces, license plates, nothing from the front of our hose to end of driveway , maybe 20 feet. Half the time, the recordings do not show what is important- for instance, it did not record our car driving into the driveway until I was already getting out of the car. We put a large item by the road and wanted to view it being picked up but was no video of it even happening. So I have zero trust in the system. Now I have to crawl through the attic to replace the system and I wasted hundreds of dollars. Will not buy another product from this company.

Night Owl. This is a really great product. I am a first time home owner and security was one of my first purchases/ biggest concerns after closing on my home. Night owl is a service I trust and gives you all the security comfort and technology you need without feeling you are over paying or feel like you don’t have enough equipment to secure your home. Their service is worth the cost. It is also real people that can help you. Not a machine or sales person trying to increase your fees. I would highly recommend Nightowl if you want a one stop shop to secure your home.

Complications with Camera I only had it for a week. My problem is I should have researched this camera before buying it from Walmart! Not only did I think it was kind of pricey for one camera instead of two in the package but I only had it for about a week and I had multiple problems with it including : wi-Fi connection error when I have perfectly great Wi-Fi in my home, as well as “external fault” Will pop up when my camera has a motion in the area meaning I am an able to see what triggered my camera which is useless because I got it for protection of my home. As well as recording and playback I cannot function I thought an SD card or memory chip would come with the camera but it does not. But I do love how I can talk to my visitors through my camera I can take pictures with the camera While on the screen as well as record while on the app. But what if someone came while I wasn’t home and wanted to go play back that video??? I’m screwed !!!! Depending on how the next week or two goes I might be returning this camera

Frustrating System!. I really thought these cameras were going to be the best thing ever, but they’re not. I’m usually not one to bash anything but it’s still frustrating! Half the time I can’t even get my camera views to load in the app, it says they’re offline or as soon as I hit the play button the app closes so I either A) have to delete the app and re download it — which I did this time and it’s still not letting me view it, or B) just try again sometime later, which does not suffice if I need to view my cameras! This issue has been constant since we got the dang system 3 years ago! So frustrating, these kinks and bugs have got to be resolved! It takes forever to load the views and then whether or not it will let me even look at what’s going on on the cameras is another story! So frustrating!

Freezes up just spins for playback. I don’t do reviews but had to this app is lacking to start my internet is top notch before send generic response saying it’s internet so back to the app it freezes up when time to playback event don’t do live view just freezes up notice cause my time stamp wasn’t moving this app needs a lot of work on the back end developer side developers done ok job on the front end of the app kinda of generics not a lot of features but on the back end of this app Jeez need to do some updates so the app can run flawless without any interruption or check the servers you all are using cause the app is having some intermittent issues which is causing events not to play back or live view to freeze up it’s again the camera system is good but this app is lacking which is making camera system useless unless you’re sitting in front of it all day

Looks like night owl doesn’t even care about feedback. Can’t help but notice most the reviews say can’t rewind or fast forward in event videos and there reviews that are over a year old seem like it wouldn’t be hard to come up with a solution it truly must be night owl don’t care about the customers I still have your system have had it for almost a year only because I couldn’t return it but how is it the wal mart mercury innovation cameras are only $20 and I can playback off phone no problem rewind fast forward no problem but when I “upgraded” to a $350 night owl system it’s no where near as good at those cheap cameras simple math says $350 came with 6 cameras that’s close to $60 a camera but for $20 you can buy better cameras that actually work like they should that’s 1/3 of the price I wish I never tried to upgrade because I have this system still hooked up just hopping night owl would resolve this simple problem but they don’t I would not recommend night owl to anyone because it is the biggest waste of money in security camera market

Notifications. The app on my iPhone did great then it was great on my Apple Watch. Got 2 issues 1 is minor, can’t fast forward on any recordings in my iPhone 2nd is pretty much since I did the new up date for my iPhone an watch I don’t get notification witch camera is going off. All it says is night owl camera notification(s). This is horrible because then I have to keep going into the cameras all the time constantly to try an figure witch camera(s) went off. This is horrible, I mean got them for a reason an now it’s not working correctly. Please fix this bug asap please It is very annoying that it don’t show what camera then I have to try an find out. Also when I try an bring up the cameras on my phone it takes for ever to even try an get them up it may take like 2-4 minutes if not longer at times it’s horrible. The yrs before no issues now issues. This not good I got this stuff because it was post to be really good. No issues like this, we can’t have this keep going on.

Too much work. Notifications are based on motion so be prepared to have your devices buzz every time the wind blows. The system goes offline about every two weeks for no reason. So then I have to troubleshoot and spend time disconnecting and reconnecting the device, deleting and reinstalling the app, or worst of all calling customer support. This is where you’ll wait on hold for at least half an hour just to get disconnected. If you do get to a representative, they read directly from the manual that you already have because they don’t really know anything about the product. So there’s another half an hour of them walking you through steps you’ve already tried. And then when they see that these steps land you back in the place that originally started in when you called, they will put you on hold AGAIN to figure what you need to do to solve your problem. And since it randomly goes offline without your knowledge, you don’t realize that you have zero camera footage until you actually need it and use the app to check the cameras.

Cameras work well; app not so much. As several others have noted, the push notification function seems to work sporadically - and updates to the app more often than not make things worse. Quality control/real world testing of the apps is a great idea - Night Owl should try it! The reason most people buy these cameras is so they can keep an eye on things when they’re away. Randomly failing notifications or an app that crashes upon startup render the cameras useless. Unfortunately there’s no way to roll back to a prior version when it breaks so you roll the dice and pray nothing happens. Also - for god’s sake, set this app to use TouchID! The app frequently ‘loses’ it’s login connection with ‘invalid’ token error and you have to logout and back in. When the cameras alert you don’t need to be dealing with trying to login. Let me put my thumb on the button and get in so I can see what’s triggered my cameras.

Decent app but missing some features. The one Bug that’s driving me nuts is no matter what I can never review the most recent recording. I have to wait for another recording to show up before it can be reviewed. And the absence of any type of scrubbing while watching a recoding is also annoying. I would also like to see the ability to view in landscape and all 12 channels. Edit 1. Ok so a few things have been fixed and added to this app since my initial review. But I added a doorbell camera and it only sends a notification when there’s motion. I want a notification that tells be some is actually ringing the doorbell. Motion detects people walking down the sidewalk that aren’t actually ringing my doorbell so these are basically false notifications. Edit 2. This app is nearly unusable if you want to watch an event. Also it looks like they’ve basically gave up on updates for the app and created a new app called NightOwl protect. I tried to pair my HX20 to the new app and it unfortunately doesn’t work. The new app sees my unit but an error comes up. Upon further investigation I found out the the older units are not compatible with the app. Please fix the numerous issues in the app or at the very least make the new app compatible with older units.

App issues. The camera system its self works great, however once every 2 weeks i get an error msg on the app saying invalid token. Ive called the 1800# and got told to use gmail. It did not help as this keeps happening. When it says invalid token it wont let me sign in or hit any buttons in the app. I have to uninstall and reinstall and resign in.. its too tedious. Nobody had an answer when i called. Also when i set up the cameras motion capabilities as far as choosing to be notified etc, the app still wants to bombard me every minute sayin theres movement and there isnt (wind blowing leaves) literally. I set my phone down to work and look over and see my screen hav 46 or more notifications about movement detected. Ive tweaked the red boxes as far as what i want the motion detection to work. Its as if it resets when “invalid token” pops up. Its annoying and tedious. Sadly all that will happen is ill get a reply on this review saying they will work to resolve it.. but they wont, as ive looked far into the past reviews and its all the same cookie cutter responses and zero fix...

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING NIGHT OWL!!. Okay, so you have been forewarned! If you buy it and end up not liking it… “I told ya so.” The app only works when it feels like it. I get no alerts anymore on any of our phones. We reinstalled the app; sign out/in of our accounts; rebooted wifi; double checked our notification settings in iphone; rebooted our phones. NO ALERTS. We were getting them and now NOTHING. This isn’t the first time. It’s intermittent. The cams are live, running and i can view them. However, if you are away from the house, I have no clue if someone is on premises. Thats the purpose of buying these. We will be replacing these with something better, but before we do, we wanted to tell everyone to STAY CLEAR OF NIGHT OWL!!! We don’t want to see others buying junk like we did. Also, they don’t share with Apple on how they use/access your data. AND, the app hasn’t had an update in over 3 YEARS. RED FLAG PEOPLE!

This Camera System is AWFUL. If I could give less than one star I would, I have had this system for a year and only kept it thinking it would improve. WRONG !!!!! I think it has gotten worse, why can you not improve this app so it will work. It is probably because I really don’t think anyone work for this company, if you try call them then plan on staying on the phone for HOURS. Then when you finally talk to someone they don’t know what their even talking about. If I could take this system back I would but unfortunately again I have waited to long, PLEASE NO ONE BUY THIS SYSTEM!!! Good IP camera but lack of option for data storage. Easy to setup, work fine with Google Assistant, clear image and video. I donot find a option to save the recording into my network hard disk.

Audio playback lagging. Fix the audio lag during playback and live feed. Can’t use the two-way talk feature on the camera when someone is talking. This happens on wifi and cell service.

Smarten up, Night Owl. While I think the quality of your cameras is fine, your software is unreliable. I often have to delete and reinstall Night Owl Connect before I can look at my cameras. Why would I consider expanding or upgrading using Night Owl gear? Don’t you realize it’s easier to keep a customer than dig up new ones?

App not consistent. We have had the device for under a year. Had issues getting it to sync with app. Then every month it just goes off line. Had new WIFI put in house took two days to get it to finally sync. Now it app is telling us Invalid Token. Not impressed. Not even sure how to rectify issue.

A lot of glitches on iOs. 1) When someone rings the doorbell, the camera goes to offline mode on my iPhone for 3-4 minutes, thus when an access is the most needed - the device is not working. 2) Access to history files is available only from non-apple device (on iPhone, only 1-2 recent records are available to view, the older files are constantly hanging). 3) Almost every day, the device looses connection to SD card and I need to sign out and sign in again to restore the connection. NB: the software is up-to-date, issues are permanent as checked on 2 different iPhones.

Terrible app. Constantly crashing and saying “invailid token” really defeats the purpose of even having my cameras when the app doesn’t work 90% of the time

Can’t create an account. Useless program. I have tried for an hour to create an account from the app and online. No verification text or email sent and can’t complete the setup. Why can’t we give Zero stars because this is what this app deserves. I guess it’s time to replace my Night Owl systems with something that actually works.

App doesn't allow you to complete the set up.... Unable to hit the complete button at the end because the app has glitch, not allowing to bring down the keyboard after you name the device at the end of set up and stuck there till you lose the page and you need to restart the set up... then at the end you face the same story...

Terrible app. I paid $500 for cameras and recording hard drive and I can only view the videos at home. The app will not work with any of my phones. An iPhone 7, a Samsung Note 9 and an iPhone 13 pro max. At this point I believe it’s a software issue and it needs to be fixed. I will update my review accordingly when I can view and save recordings on ANY of these devices. Even one. Please figure this out.

Very slow online video review. It is almost impossible to review videos online, so if you are away from the console and want to review the video from a notification, it is near impossible.

Owl video server 90% offline. Owl’s camera sever shows offline 90% of the time. Owl company must do this on purpose since it happens at the same time for both my surveillance sites which are connected by separate internet providers. My other cameras from Swann never does this! All future purchases will be from Swann security!

Why is it not working??. I was dealing with the occasional crash as a part of the system but now it won’t let me login on one device and the other device doesn’t show the cameras. I paid good money for this system and I’m not impressed

Would be great if it actually worked.. When it worked, at best you could see the cameras but it would take at least a minute or two from a notification to be able to pull up the camera view, so whatever was there is gone now. The recordings can’t be accessed from the app, the pin wheel just spins forever and never shows a recording. Now, it tell me “invalid token” but also “logout failed”. Had to delete the app and redownload it to get any function. Still no recording accessible remotely.

Great product and good app until last update.. Great product, just not happy with the last update. It won’t tell you what motion was detected. Just says motion detected. I wish they didn’t change that!

Terrible interface.. Useless interface, even with latest “update”. Won’t downtown to IOS album, won’t play a recorded event in the app, completely useless doesn’t do anything but live view.

This system is constant trouble.. Every. Single. Time. I have to use this system / app it’s nothing but trouble. Can’t review footage from a couple hours earlier. Once you choose a point in the timeline to look at you can ONLY look at that point. Nothing before or nothing after.... unless you sit through hours and hours. Problems all the time 😒. We bought this three months ago and worked fine, but the last two months it just doesn’t seem to run smoothly. At the moment, it just doesn’t connect anymore, support chat couldn’t resolve our situation and told us to chat with them in 72 hrs...still not working

System Updates. I found that my night owl system worked quite well, however lately I noticed that when viewing video footage the yellow tracking line is now exactly 1 hour ahead of the time stamp time and the actual time. I have rebooted the gateway to no avail. Both my gateway and individual camera’s indicate that there are Updates Available, however, I find it impossible to locate and download updates. I have a Model WG-20W-4 system with CAM-WNR2P-0U Cameras.

Trash. Trash. Have had this for a month and there are so many glitches in the start up process on app I have t been able to fully set up. Waste of money

Using with doorbell notifications. App is fine so far, easy set up with doorbell. As a suggestion, would be better with the option to separate notifications for motion vs doorbell ring. It gives me a notification everytime a car drives by my house. Can't turn off the motion notification without also turning off the ring notification. Thanks.

A robber can still rob your house and get away with it. I have never written a review before but this app and camera system is terrible. -You’re not able to watch your latest recording because it freezes. You have to wait until another motion is detected to watch the second to last video. -It logs me out at least once a week. And when I try logging back in, it will tell me system failure. -The point of this camera is to detect anything in front of our house when we needed it. We had a car accident directly in front of our house(usually quiet empty street) and someone crashed into our driveway. We had two cameras directed at the scene of the accident, and it was not recorded. They did not detect any motion and we were not able to get any footage of it. Not the license plate, not how it happened, nothing. We did however, get footage of a car driving by 20 minutes later perfectly clear. Ridiculous. -Lastly, we’ve only had this camera for 5 months and the camera in the backyard already lost network. This is a terrible system please buy a different brand please!! It will detect wind before it detects a crime scene.

Needs work. Night owl has great ideas, but the execution is not that great! The doorbell when pushed initially sent notifications instead of ringing. After an awesome update that would allow one to review the recorded videos on the camera, I stopped receiving notifications all together when someone rung the bell. Here’s a suggestion Night Owl, make the phone ring when someone calls! Make the microphone work better, it’s hard for people to hear me when I speak directly into my phone. I hope you can address these issue. I plan to stick around with the hope that their products will get better.

Is it the app or the equipment?. The camera clarity is good. The app is at the bare minimum to call it working. Very disappointing that you spend the extra money and cheaper systems are more reliable. I rely on the camera system, and will definitely be replacing it very soon. I will be sure to leave a review on google and the company that I purchased it from. Unfortunately, if people are reading this review, they already have purchased and likely installed their system. Upgrade your app and I will definitely change my 1 star review. In hindsight, I would have never purchased Night Owl if I knew it wasn’t living up to what it advertised.

App could be better. We got these about a week ago everything works great except the app on my phone, on my moms when we click and camera and then “event” it plays a short video of the motion that was caught but on my phone when I try to do the same thing it says 0 seconds recorded it’s more like it took a picture of what was out there then a short video also it was notifying me when movement was detected but now it doesn’t notify me of anything I looked in my phone settings to make sure it wasn’t just on my end messing up but nope all notifications are set to alert me so I don’t know what’s going on with it

New notifications 👎. We have had for about 8 months and everything has been fine until there was an updated to the app. Before the update the notification included where the movement was now it just says movement therefor by the time I check all the cameras I’ve missed where the movement is live therefore having to go searching again through the recordings. This defeats the purpose of having notifications. I have tried looking for a setting to change within the app, my phone, but nothing. PLEASE FIX THIS!

Bad app. I recently bought this system and the cameras are pretty good but the app and the instructions could use some work. First what instructions you get is only for a quick set up and not how to actually use the system and what capabilities it has to offer. Secondly the app isn’t very good. I continually have problems with playback Am having same issues as many others that are writing reviews. The system as a whole doesn’t seem to be very user friendly either. It would be nice if this company would fix these issues and include better directions. As far as the cameras I get good pictures and better than expected night vision so I’m glad for that.

Worst app and even worse customer service!!. Stay FAR away from this company!!! We tried with two different systems and both were horrible! It was hardwired, otherwise we never would have tried twice. In addition to the horrific app that hardly ever works, once your product is two years or more old, Night Owl considers it obsolete and no longer offers customer service. There are WAY better products and apps out there and we will NEVER use Night Owl ever again! They should be ashamed of their inferior product and pathetic customer service. To even use the word service is generous as there is absolutely NO service whatsoever. If I could give them negative stars, it would be far more appropriate.

Not for long. Worked good for a while then after a few months you have to reset because notifications stop. Cover does not hold up well to weather because it’s hard to get off to do a reset and broke where the screw hole mounts it to the wall. I’m still using it but now when you try to go to the time of a notification, because they are working after a reset this week, it’s frozen up with a spinning wheel on the screen and you have to close it. Can’t get to the recordings. When you can get to the recordings if you try to move the timing timeline twice it freezes. It’s only two years old and under the roof of the porch so it’s not in direct weather.

Good cameras, bad app. The Night Owl cameras are good, and the system itself is good, but the app needs to be updated ASAP. A while ago, I turned on notifications and I got so many of them, but now, they rarely even show up, even if I’m walking into the house, when there’s obviously motion. The app also doesn’t like to keep me logged in, so I frequently uninstall and reinstall the app just so I can check the cameras. Also, when looking through the “Events,” the app will not let you watch the last recording on the list, which might even be one that you need to watch. There’s several other minor bugs, but the ones mentioned above are the most impactful ones. Night Owl, please fix this app!

Really need to update your app. Hust not happy, don’t BUY! The cameras are ok but the app is awful! Liked that it had storage but just hate that the app doesn’t works most of the time. Do they really care? No they already took my money by purchasing them. I just switch to Dekco way cheaper cams but better quality, app never crashes, has a better system in reviewing dates and time. Stay away from this product please, they don’t have any features , yet they might be one of the leading cams but you really need a better a team on updating the app! Period. Dev. Don’t say “we are sorry, blah blah blah.” Do something good and work on updates. One customer that no longer will use this or recommend.

Just setup.. I had two different Swann sets, never managed to get online with either one. This NightOwl was up, online and working within a hour, unbelievable. The iPhone app was running within a minute, with access to any camera, with zoom capabilities as soon as I logged in. The iPhone has two groups of four cameras, swipe instantly between, pick out any individual camera, zoom/pan anywhere. I haven’t had it but a couple of hours, but I already know that no matter what, Swann will never be back.

New update. Stay away and save your money for something that works. App is horrible always offline. Or it won’t play anything back. The newest problem I have is a camera decided it doesn’t want to record anymore. I noticed that my car had been tampered with so I checked the cameras. I have eight cameras one of them recorded the person walking towards my car but it was not pointing on the car. The camera that I have pointed at the car recorded nothing. So I’m unable to see what they where doing with the car or to my property. If you want to be able to keep a eye on your property I would highly suggest buying a system that has a good rating and history with its users. If you have recently purchased night owl I would return it as soon as possible. To not be stuck with a junk system

More than disappointed. Most of the times the app will be on the “offline” status for you to even try to view anything from it. These past few days it has on that offline status stage again so i tried to remove the app from my phone and re-download it again as sometimes it seems to work when i do that, but it will not work this time as it kept saying my login has failed although i put in the correct info. I don't even see the point of this app anymore. I have had issues with the cameras for 1 yr and i have been having issues with the app since i bought the cameras 2 yrs ago. Overall, i’m just disappointed with NightOwl in general.

DP. Please fix app to accept device. I have followed instructions verbatem for days and still not adding my nvr. I really need my cameras! It takes me up to where i can add then gives message “add failure”. Same message for days and days. Update. App is working very good. Haven’t had a chance to test remote viewing just yet. Sure hope it works for that part of the app is extremely important DP Nightowl connect will not let me connect! Everything was working great then boom “off line”. Enternet is connect and nothing has changed. I have rebooted to no avail. Please fix! Same thing over and over. Will not connect. Off line. Internet is on and working but your app fails me

Night owl connect. I’m am not satisfied with the app I cannot get it to work I’ve spent a couple of hours waiting on the phone and never got connected then I tried the chat with technical support also with never being connected I started 18th in line waited over an hour online got down to 6th and the page had to refresh losing my place I have deleted the app restarted my phone and reinstalled the app logged out and back in tried on other devices the app always says “invalid token” and re log in I sent an email also to support and have yet to get any response The cameras work and the eve records but it’s advertised as being able to view from your mobile device via the app and I certainly cannot do that therefore I would not recommend night owl products. Unfortunately I will probably be returning there product and trying another brand that I can actually access from my phone I would really like to avoid all of the extra work that will be involved with the exchange by simply getting the app to work -A Dissatisfied New Customer

Miss my old night owl application capabilities. Update: after reading the developer response I am baffled as to why the newer app would have LESS features than the old one 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️. Seriously considering ripping these cameras down and getting a whole new system because they’re useless with this dumb application. Do better night owl. This app is terrible. I want to be able to go back to a certain time and fast forward and rewind like I did on the original night owl app. This is a terrible design. Not to mention it freezes on wifi and won’t connect on 4g. I paid a lot of money for the 6 camera spotlight system. Wish I could connect these on my old app.

Do NOT BUY RETURN ASAP. If you haven’t purchased yet and just reading reviews, TRUST ME, DO NOT BUY! If you have already bought them, TAKE THEM BACK ASAP! I bought these over a year ago thinking the app would get better. It NEVER HAS! Tried returning but it was too late. These are basically useless on the app. I mean useless!! I can NEVER EVER playback, so if you are needing these for security, this IS NOT IT! My Ring is 100xs more reliable. Please do not waste your money like I did. Plus customer service is basically non existent. Again, do not waste your money on these. I really wish they would listen yo all these HORRIBLE reviews and do something about the dang app already!

Great cameras but disappointing video review abilities. Can seldom get review videos to playback on phone with insane load times. Can’t fast forward or reverse because it doesn’t work, have a newer apple phone so it’s not the phone causing slow if any uploads. Frequently have to delete and reinstall app due to freezing up and not going online. Mobile app was reason I got this system and it’s my biggest disappointment. Update just got form letter saying they fixed issues and to update yet I already have the latest update and the issues have not been fixed, I stand by my review. Still an unsatisfactory product

Sub-optimal App. Cameras are great. App needs improvement. I’d like a filter feature on the event laybacks where I can search by a specified time frame on a particular day. At this time. You manually have to go through each video for the day in order to view live recorded video. This takes FOREVER especially since the app only loads about 10 videos at a time. depending on if you record every 10, 20, or 60 seconds, you will spend half a morning just trying to view what occurred between 8-9 pm the night before. The app video playback also buffers a lot. App needs some work. I’ve never had an app have so many issues with staying functional and current. Considering returning cameras due to the app.

Why is it so bad?. This app makes me regret purchasing TWO system from Night Owl. Completely useless and not user friendly. The developers should play with the Ring App and gear towards that type of layout and features. Playback is horrible, which is the main reason for downloading an app. You can’t rewind, fast forward or skim through a video. Just sit there and wait. When you’re done with one clip and want to move on to the next, you have to reset everything and go searching again from the very top. Such a waste of time and extremely frustrating. It takes way to long to find what you’ve been looking for. It’s too bad because setup and install were nice and easy. And how about being able to control your system settings from the app? I really hope this app gets a MASSIVE update, very soon.

Great with issues. Night owl is the first security system that I have used. Great for those who have not used a system before. Picture quality is great cameras and alerts work perfect. Only issue is the APP lacks a lot of features. Big one for me is not being able to view a video and re wind or fast forward to view past video recordings. Although you can have the 2 way audio and record manually I really wish I could view recent videos and run through them. I really hope night owl can step there game up and update this app to satisfy customers.

No playback. I am disappointed in this app. I’ve read reviews as far back as July with the same issues regarding playback. The response from Night Owl is that the problem is currently being fixed. How long does it take to fix? It’s been 5 months. I’ve read multiple reviews and the response from Night Owl regarding this same issue is vague and seems to be a catch-all response. Nothing is getting fixed. I’ve updated my phone, reloaded the app, and nothing. The “wheel of death” keeps spinning and nothing happens for over 5 minutes then I give up. Very poor app. I will be looking into a different brand of camera and switching very soon. This was a waste of money.

Error. Why am I having a log out error. The app will not load so I’m trying to log out of the app and log back in like I did before. It’s giving me a log out error…. It happened last time so I waited a couple of days and tried again and it let me. Now it won’t do it at all. I still can’t access my cámaras from this app. I need to see my house while I’m away. Especially now….I’m about to have all my windows redone and won’t be home to oversee the work or workers. Please fix this glitch. Thanks.

By far the worst app I have. I would definitely give zero stars if it would let me. App is glitchy and playback will not work like at all. You can see the thumbnails just fine but lord if you try to play them you will freeze up the app. Then if you try to close it and open it back up again the cameras show offline. Sometimes sign you out. Very unreliable I wish I would of done more research before spending $699 on the set of cameras. I had an RCA set years ago that worked way better than these. I should of stuck with the brand I knew but I wanted to switch. I wish the developers of this app would spend more time listening to customer complaints. I want my money back so I can go to a different brand cause what the heck.

Great camera. The cameras are great and the video whether day or night is great quality. They are very easy to set up and install, the audio is great. The only thing I don’t like is not being able to fast forward while using the playback in the app. If there was a way that could be possible would be great. The zoom while using the playback only goes into the middle of the video, you can’t move the screen around. But other then that, I would recommend this security camera system.

Attention Walmart customers !!. I’ve had this system for over 2 years, and after MANY calls to their “customer service” from the day I purchased it, PLAYBACK ON THE APP STILL DOESN’T WORK 95+% OF THE TIME. If you look at the most recent reviews here, everyone is having the same problems where the app won’t playback. That makes this system useless. And Night Owl constantly says they are working on it but it still doesn’t work years later. It’s time for customer action here !! If you are like me and you purchased your system from Walmart, I ask that you call or write a complaint directly to Walmart to tell them what you think about Night Owl products. N. Owl products are still being sold at Walmart today. That should not be the case for this non-functional system. Maybe if they get dropped by Walmart they will finally address this problem. If they don’t fix the app, at least no one else will get tricked into buying a piece of junk like this.

Buyer Beware....Like really Beware. This System is very dated but has great video quality. The issue that will come up is the mere lack of connectivity on the App. Accessing your cameras is worst than waiting in a COVID-19 line at Bath and Bodyworks. You wait and wait then when the waits over you hate yourself for waiting as long as you did. Now as for the video quality in the app itself, let me say this lightly..... it is absolutely terrible!!! I’m seriously not being dramatic. It’s like looking at an old tube TV, You know the ones with the old clunk-clunk-clunk knob... (Yeah that bad)... Stop thinking about it, because it truly is that bad. All those cute clear quality images the app shows are lies. Oh, and before you say it, my system is hardwired to the internet, I have top speed Fios internet, and I’ve called Tech Support. All and all, product review is a 2 star. App review is like a negative (-5 star) due to the poor connection and VHS live feed. Oh and don’t get me started on playback. let’s just say I’ve had this product for a year and I’ve never was able to “playback” on the App.

Cameras STILL don’t work. It’s been almost a week since my cameras have worked! They worked for a whole 5 minutes this morning until I left the house and it went back to offline. I spent way to much money on this system plus extra cameras, for it to “have issues.” Tech support says check back in 48 hours...every time I call. Chat doesn’t even work most the time. I’m suppose to go on vacation soon and don’t even want to leave because I can’t rely on night owl to do what they’re suppose to do! It’s ridiculous! There’s a reason I got cameras and it’s pointless when it doesn’t work. I’m tired of hearing “we’re working on it!” Get it together and fix it or give me my money back!

Great Cameras, AWFUL app!!!. The cameras have great picture quality and are easy to install. HOWEVER, the app has extreme difficulties connecting to my smartphone and tablet. I always get an error message stating, “oops, something went wrong”. This happens while I either have strong Wi-Fi signal, even when I’m connected to my home Wi-Fi. I get notifications that one of my cameras detected motion, but by the time I’m able to actually get in to the app, someone could have robbed me blind! For what was spent on this unit and the personal time it took to install, I wish the app would work half as well as the cameras. I hope this gets fixed soon, otherwise this system was a waste.

Disappointed with app. Cameras are pretty good. Audio, and night vision work well. Tv viewing works fine. The app always freezes, logs me out, and rarely plays recordings back. My phone shows me a list of recorded events but I can almost never watch them. Irritating when I hear a strange noise and my dogs are barking but when I try to check the cameras, I get nothing. UPDATE- after seeing several more negative reviews, there is still no update to fix issues. I was planning to buy add on cameras if this system was ever fixed but apparently the developers do not care. I really wish i would have chose a different system. Night owl does not support their paying customers!

The worst app on my phone.. I don’t know how you’re actually supposed to feel secure using this app. Every time I open it it claims I don’t have cameras added or that my token has expired. Ok, no big deal right? Log out then back in and you get a new token. Except the log out fails. Every. Single. Time. So you can’t see your cameras. You can’t log out. Your only hope is to uninstall the app, reinstall the app (hope you’re on WiFi), log in again, hope your cameras resync and that you don’t have to go through that whole hassle, use the app for the brief period you need to use it, and KNOW that the next time you open this worthless app you’re going to have to do the same thing all over again. Awful. I’d give it zero stars if I could.

Love the cameras, app not so much!. We have just transitioned from the wireless Arlo security cams to these Nigh Owl 1080p 8 channel, 6 camera set. What an amazing difference. The picture quality is clear as long as you switch it in the settings from SD to HD. The wired system is so much better than the super expensive battery eating Arlo. This app is terrible. I love the tile screen to view the cameras. I think we should be able to control what we keep recorded from the setting menu & definitely fix the glitches that happen when i try & play a video back. It freezes up alot & does not play like it should. Forcing me to exit the app, close it down & restart. Night owl programmers listen to pur reviews & make some major changes on this app PLEASE & THANK YOU!

Great Cameras, Horrible App. I bought this system years ago and still use it to this day. The cameras work really good, if you are playing back video via the WNVR. Everything works great IF your accessing the cameras through the WNVR. That being said the app is absolutely awful. Thank god nothing has ever happened while I was away because it runs so slow on the app and video playback is non existent. Night Owl, You still have customers out here utilizing this app and you have failed to do anything to improve it in years. Once this cameras go out I’m going with a different brand which is sad. These guys had a lot of potential

Return if possible. I have six cameras around my house and they are constantly going off unnecessarily. But the one time I noticed something wrong on my property they don’t want to work. The app constantly kicks me out and takes forever to load. Unfortunately I only noticed the bad reviews after having the system for almost a year, if possible return the cameras and select a better security system. More should be done to fix the app, there has been many bad reviews but nothing has been done. People are entrusting the developers with their privacy and security, the least they could do is make sure their system works.

Getting ready to box up my system and return it!!!!. Connected everything. Cameras look good on my TV screen. But when I get on the app, it says OFFLINE!!! I went to the website and tried everything that was suggested to try to fix the problem myself. No luck. Then I tried calling Tech support waited over 30 mins (when it said it was a 2min wait) sounded like someone picked up and hung on me. Then I tried the chat support, at least I can see what number I am in line. I was 15th in line, waited about an hour, which I was then 5th in line. Then all of a sudden I was kicked off!!! I am so sick of this. Going to box this system up and return it to the store!

Preview? I end up ignoring alerts.. Every other time i open the app I get a fault error. There are only three sensitivity settings on motion alerts, and even at the lowest i get a lot of them. My old cameras would send a snapshot via email. The Wyze cams include a preview in the notifications. These are just a text notification so you have to go to the app in to view each one if you really care, and loading takes FOREVER if the event even shows (not my network as I have gig speed internet). Live view is no faster, so by the time you are able to see anything, it’s likely over. As a result, I essentially just ignore the alerts. I may just return them. Google home hub just gives an error when i try to view there also and that takes a long time as well.

App so slow crashes all the time.. Camera system is ok although it requires a lot of time to adjust it to record what needs to be recorded and not false motions. The app however is absolutely the slowest most frustrating app I have downloaded at this time. I have this system for SECURITY. What good is the app if when I an away it takes 5 minutes to simply load a 10 second video? What good is the app when you have to download something and it takes a dozen attempts over the course of an hour. It is not my internet speed or my phone. This app works the same on all devices home or away. They need to fix this app ASAP. It is the cause of “false security”

Terrible app! And software. My device occasionally refuses to stick with the new settings I provide. I set my cameras for motion. Highest sensitivity and yet nothing comes up ! The app itself is terrible and has a lot of bugs. Videos never playback and constantly stay in the loading screen, without being able to see who broke into my home. It’s not an internet problem as I get 1000mbps at home and I’m right next to the router, as well as my Os system , it’s connected from the receiver (camera system) and directly to the router. Just terrible and very disappointing because the camera quality is fairly good.

Absolute junk. I’ve had the camera system for a few years using this app off and on. It works right about 50% of the time and will just randomly give you problems for no reason. I won’t list all of the various issues/bugs and frustrations I’ve had using this system but it seems to always fail when you need it most. I added the outdoor camera and then a doorbell camera (worst experience ever) to the system hoping they would work better but ended up returning them. The hardware works great and as intended but the software/app is complete garbage. Pretty sure it’s just another way for the CCP to spy on us using our own security system to do so. If they even still sell camera systems, stay away!

Unhappy Customer. These are the worse I have ever owned. While viewing my cameras you can’t forward to a certain time you have to watch the hole 60 session in order to see what happen. My daughters dog was stolen and in order to show cops i couldn’t they could not wait for a hour to watch this. I also have called customer support and they can’t help me. The views I see in this app is not what I have in my device. This is a app problem not a camera problem. I am looking into other cameras because seems your not doing anything to solve this issue from what other users are saying. Way to go night owl. Sign unhappy user.

System is a disappointment!. Can’t rate less than 1star or I would When trying to reset the app it only displays white squares for pictures and when touching the play button the app closes No rewinding to rewatch videos and no fast forwarding Through them. Sensitivity is way touchy as it will record a mosquito flying by and in the words of a night owl tech support person it could even record the wind. The notification are guaranteed not to miss anything cause they alert you every 14-20seconds about something so if your watching you camera 24-7 via the app which don’t work well good luck go with a different brand and yes I thought the other reviews were fake too —- this is no joke I promise this is a real review!!!

Have to be connected to internet to see. When we first got our cameras set up (Jan2020) I could pull up this app and look at all my cameras via cell data. Now (Sep2020) we have to have our phones connected to the internet to be able to look and see what is going on AND what has gone on at our house while we’re away. What sense does that make?? If I get an alert that someone is at my door but can’t pull it up to look at it while I’m no where near WiFi what is the point? Hopefully in a few hours when I’m able to get back home all my stuff is still there and I can show the cops because I surely can’t do anything about it while I’m working. It’s beyond ignorant.

The app is junk and therefore so is this system. The cameras work great. They are hardwired so no issue as with a wireless system. The app is junk. Live pics work fine, but when you are alerted to movement and go back to watch the clip it only works for playback about 10% of the time on the app. It is not because of an old phone or old IOS or bad WiFi or cell signal or whatever excuse is used online in the explanations for why this may be. It simply is just not working as it is advertised to do. Luckily I have a another system in place that is much more reliable and this was just for some extra coverage. I’ll leave it all in place since it was such a pain and so time consuming hanging all the hardwired cameras.

No updates on camera.. I recently bought my night owl cameras which works great. The only problem I am having is when I get notifications alerts late at night and I go and try to check them, it keeps showing me the same videos from basically when I first installed them. I have deleted the app and it continues to not update. I also have Vivint security as well and I have no problem checking or even going back throughout the day and checking on alerts I missed. I got these cameras for the safety of my kids with all that’s goin on I can’t say I feel safe if something happens and I’m away from home, since I am unable to check from the app. Please fix!!!! I get notifications but on my events it don’t show the recent notification.

Come on guys. Ok I give it to you this past update made the GUI more appealing but that’s about it. At home I have 150mps and 25 upload and at work where I try to access my NVR I’m have 250mps and I can’t view videos at all? The cameras work amazing and live stream no issues just getting videos from the NVR is worthless. Now for the door bell. You need to have an events section so you can see when motion is activated not just a time line. As for the Chromecast section I called in have a ticket number but most times they call me they tell me they need more time to consult the issue. Seems that all the tech support must be scripted and using India call center. The issue I have is before this last update I was able to pull up all cameras on my Chromecast and view them. The main reason I got this system right on the NVR it says works with Chromecast. Being have a little baby it’s nice when it worked when I got a notification at the door bell I just say hey google show me the door bell and it works. But since the update it’s garbage it. Doesn’t work. I have unlinked and linked and has even tried a new Chromecast and nothing Please fix this ASAP to make this a nice system

Blah.. Quality is ok when viewing on mobile, when you change the names of the cameras, they don’t actually change in your notifications. Also notifications are few and far between I have a 100 pound American bulldog running in front of mine and I still rarely get notifications. So disappointing. Also one camera just freezes when you view it on mobile. In drastic need of an update for their app. So the app developer team responded with a load of BS, the fix they stated doesn’t work. I can view the cameras while connected to WiFi but not when on mobile internet. It just says offline which is ridiculous. Once again. Crappy app.

Night owl security system. I purchased the night owl security system with 4 cameras. The cameras apparently work well. The mobile application is incapable of video playback .It appears the NVR/DVR is recording the videos and the mobile application doesn’t retrieve the entire video.I have been on the phone with technical support who have been unable to direct me to make the playback work. Currently the technical support is looking to blame Comcast and Verizon, by saying they lack coverage in the area, although the upload and download speeds exceed the Nights owls recommendation. How is it that a company is allowed to sell a nonfunctional system. I would like for the system to work and yet I’m afraid I must return and try something different like Nest or Arlo.

Awful app, terrible customer service.... I’ve had several security camera systems for my home over the years, but this one is overall the worst, and it’s mostly because of this app. The cameras are great! Great view and resolution. But the system supporting them is awful. Biggest complaint: What’s the use of a system if you can’t see what just triggered the motion detection? It sends you a notification (assuming it hasn’t logged you out of the app), but when you open the app, you have to scroll through every event for that day, 10 events at a time, starting from MIDNIGHT? A simple fix would be to show you the most recent event, rather than the oldest event for that day. Do they fix it? No. The app is also very glitchy- logs you out randomly, shuts down unexpectedly, and is not very user friendly. And don’t bother contacting their service people. Non-responsive, and when you do get them they treat you like you are annoying them. I’m shopping for another system. If you haven’t made your purchase decision yet, beware.

Not consistent. I downloaded this app to my iPhone 13 so that I could have remote view of my home system while I’m away. The app works fine until it doesn’t. What I mean is that at some point (a week or two) I loose connection to my cameras with an error and it won’t establish a connection. I have to delete the app, reinstall it, login to my system, then it works again for a few weeks and the cycle starts again…Night Owl team, you should really fix it, take the time to understand the problem and really make a quality product, or you will continue to get poor reviews in the App Store. Poor reviews signify you are incapable of fixing it, or you don’t really think it’s that significant.

Offline when needed. Bought one of the stand alone cameras from Walmart and since the Christmas 2018 update, the camera would not go online whenever the app is not connected to the same wifi as the camera. This meant receiving notifications that there was movement in the property but would not allow to see in real time. The microSD did record events as they happened and was able to see them once back at the same place as the camera. Tried resetting thru the app as advised and followed every step until connected properly, but the problem still persists. How annoying. Can you solve this admin/developers please, so people would be encouraged to buy your products?
