Triple Triad needs to be a standalone app. I was very excited to see that an official triple triad game was being produced. It has some benefits - it doesn't crash, and does include characters from the entire franchise. However, the stamina model is a big let down. You can hold a total of 5 crystals. Every game you play depletes a crystal that takes a half hour to regenerate. So if you play 5 games in 5 minutes, you need to wait about 25 minutes before you can play a single game again, or wait 2 and a half hours to get all 5 crystals back. SE needs to just release it as a stand alone app. I'd gladly pay up to $10 for it. Also kind of disappointing that you can't challenge your friends online (only local via Bluetooth). Playing them however consumes crystals. When you can actually play the game, it works great, and very smooth. But due to the stamina timer, this is a below average app. 2/5 stars for me.

Shame. Admittedly I didn't read previous reviews before downloading this app for the triple triad card game which is fun, however; It is stuck behind an archaic paywall structure that really quite hinders any "progress" where you get 1 play crystal every 15 minutes. Said play crystal is required for every.. Single.. Match, Solo, online or even local, doesn't matter. Blizzard did it right with hearthstone (which I'm not a fan of) by only charging for booster packs and letting unlimited free play otherwise. I'm uninstalling this until they rethink this structure or I completely forget about it entirely. Sorry squeenix, failed me on this one.

Can't access my purchases. I can no longer access the games I purchased without buying them again. Also when I try to recover them it says I need to try again somewhere with better reception...

Love Triple Triad but some work is still needed. I love the fact that you brought Triple Triad back. Here is my chief complaint. Please add a number somewhere on the card to indicate the number of cards we have for the specific card. That way we can focus on collecting up to ten cards for card creation. Secondly, please add more characters to face off against. I know you have online battles, but more characters would make it more interesting. Third, offering such a small number of crystals at 20 or so minutes a piece makes you guys seem ultra greedy and the cost to play extra time is a bit high. Add the functionality to purchase card packs and/or good cards. Take a look at the Mortal Kombat X app. It is a good concept. Finally, don't be so cheap with the portal points, and/or allow us to accumulate points from month-to-month. I mean seriously, do you honestly think people will take the time to read the news just to get 2 points? They are going to quickly click through all the articles just to earn their points. At least allow us to accumulate points versus losing them for not using them fast enough.

Freemium Garbage. I was so excited to hear that Triple Triad was coming to iOS, but upon launching this app and starting the game, I find that this is just another freemium app with a game loop designed to nickel and dime fans who want to play. Here's a news flash Square-Enix: I want to play without restrictions. Charge me money up front to let me play for as long as I like. I would purchase Triple Triad as a standalone app without restrictions. Because of your current monetization scheme, you won't be seeing a single cent from me, and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Account issues. Why on a free app do I have to buy FF:XI or FF:XIV just to make an account. This is just a scam to buy very lackluster games.

Passable. I just downloaded this for the free Final Fantasy 1. There's no benefit to the portal version at all, it adds annoying white borders to the left and right sides of the screen and still doesn't support cloud saving. It's the same ancient FF1 app that's been around for years. Other than that, the portal is just a Final Fantasy news feed in somewhat awkward English. The points system encourages you to read everything they post, but the points don't do much aside from let you exchange them for.. Wallpapers. As in, pictures from Final Fantasy. Whoopie. Still though, thanks for the free FF1, but that game's pushing 30 now. It should just be free for all as a thank you for using the portal.

Will not login. Made a brand new square Enix account on my computer right in front of my phone so I didn't forget my password. Changed password incase I made the same exact typo two times in a row. Still doesn't log in 👎🏻

Triple Triad..... Could you pull triple triad from this app and make it independent? It never loads properly.... I play TT all the time in Final Fantasy XIV and was excited to see it in this app but its clearly broken....

Don’t bother unless you are a die hard. This app crashes anytime you attempt to play Triad or Ff1/2. Isn’t worth the time to download.

Not bad.. Needs work... I obviously got this app for the Triple Triad game. It's something I've been waiting for for years! It's great they finally came out with it. The game is overall pretty entertaining, it's just like the one from FFVIII, which I enjoyed! The reason this app got 3 stars was because of its limitations. The cool down for gems is ridiculous. 30 minutes / gem!? The other issue that bothers me the most is when I am playing against some other human, it tends to get stuck on one or the other's turn and it forces me to wait a minute to play against "auto-mode" computer. It happens on three out of four of my games. Is that a bug or are that many people leaving the app after starting a match. PS: people need to play with rules! How can you stand playing no rules every match? :P

Not worth it. I downloaded it because I was able to plat Triple Triad and it was fun, got to play it for a bit but once I closed the app that’s when it all went bad. Now I can’t even play it anymore, I click play and the app freezes. Going to uninstall it after this

Very cool! Triple triad. This app is very neat! It will give you free things in the other Final Fantasy f2p games. ALSO. Has the famous triple triad game. A lot of people complain that you get 5 plays and each play recharges every 15 minutes. I think it is a great free 2 play system. Keeps me from burning through the game and allows me to enjoy each battle. Very awesome app with an awesome game! Ignore all these complainers, as I have other games I play while I wait for my crystas to recharge. Basically 5 plays an hour. I will be cooking or cleaning or watching tv while it recharges. Not bad and I get to collect cards! Also has single player and multiplayer, without bugs or glitches yet! And it's official!! I love Final Fantasy! ✌️

Fun for a while, but.... The issue is with multiplayer for Triple Triad. You can easily play against CPU opponents, which is a blast for a while and works beautifully. However, the multiplayer features are terrible. You are limited to two options: close proximity via bluetooth, which is fine when and if you are around another player, or auto-matchmaking via the Apple Gamecenter. If you have friends online that are playing, this works just fine. Otherwise, the app attempts to matchmake with another random player online, however it remains on the "searching" screen and never locates a match. I watched my phone attempt to find a match for me for 15 minutes to no avail. This needs to be seriously fixed. This game is made for multiplayer and at this point in time, the app fails miserably. Definitely worth it for some fun, quick matches with CPU, but this grows stale quickly.

It's great!. I love this app! But please for the love of all that is holy, make triple triad it's own standalone app and give it offline playability! More bosses, more cards, and (maybe) more rules even? ;D It's great that you can unlock more cards through challenges, but after so many battles the 3 different tiers of difficulty become a bit old. It's fun, but it's not exactly the dreadfully difficult experience I remember from FFVIII. Please work on it!

Love triple triad. Not sure why it’s got so many bad reviews, it runs perfectly fine on my phone. I love triple triad! There’s 700+ cards from almost all the FF, and although it’s stamina based, you can play a match every 15 minutes and it stacks up to 5 times. You can play against others or AI. I like because it’s fun but also not time consuming, and it doesn’t take time away from playing real video games :)

A must-have for Final Fantasy fans!. A great place to get all your Final Fantasy news and play Triple Triad! My only complaints are... 1) The amount of stuff we can currently trade points for is abysmal. A couple Triple Triad cards, and some wallpapers that use art you could easily obtain for free and set as your wallpaper before this app came about. Please make the rewards more compelling! :( 2) The Triple Triad opponent AI isn't /terrible/, but even on Hard difficulty they often make just downright RIDICULOUS decisions that make the rest of the round a piece of cake. :/ Please either buff AI or add a higher difficulty with improved AI. 3) As others have said, 2 hours is way too long of a recharge time. :( I doubt you'll listen to this complaint, though...

Has potential but is currently wasting it. I don't normally bother to write reviews but I felt the need on this one. Triple Triad is a beloved mini game in FF VIII. Easily one of the most engrossing mini game in the series. This app manages to capture some of that but a few points derail an otherwise enjoyable game. 1. Stamina Timer: absolutely ridiculous. I realize they need to make money. But having to wait half an hour for 30 seconds of game time borders on the absurd. That kind of setup is almost a parody of itself. And then, it's essentially a dollar every 30 seconds to play with in app purchases! Whoever came up with this model of gameplay needs to be fired immediately. 2. Online multiplayer: this is where you can really feel the burn of pay to play. Finding a match (which can sometimes take minutes, much longer than the actual match) is only the first agony. Once you actually find someone to play against, they'll have the same 5 "power" cards as the other 95 percent of people who play online. There is almost 0 variety in online play, to the point where it's not even worth the effort unless you've given up sleep in an attempt to farm the power cards. And with apparently no ranking system for online play, you're sure to be matched up against those same overpowered decks over and over, until you've simply given up.

Ruined by greedy freemium design. Got this for Triple Triad and the game itself is as fun as the original, but unfortunately it's completely ruined by the way they've chosen to present it. Making this a paid app rather than freemium would make it 5 star worthy imo. Here are some of the game design choices that appear to have been implemented strictly to annoy you: • You get 5 tokens to play 5 games with, and each token takes 30 minutes to replenish. A single game takes 1 minute at most. • You can buy tokens for about $1 per token (seriously). • 5 star cards are very rare drops from Hard level matches, which would be fine if not for the gated token system and the fact that... • ...if your match ends in a Draw YOU STILL LOSE YOUR TOKEN. What the hell guys? Just charge $10 for an unlocked game, make 5-star cards optional purchases for those who don't want to farm them and call it a day. The only people who are going to pay money for additional 1 minute plays are children who don't know any better. The rest of us are just going to get annoyed. Sleazy game design. I thought you guys were better than this.

Essential Download for Final Fantasy Fans. Title says it all. This app is an essential download for FF fans across the world. If you wanted a one stop spot to get all of the latest information about upcoming final fantasy games you need to download this app. On top of that, the two downloadable games you can get through this app alone are worth a download. I know a lot of people have brought up triple triad as the reason to get this app, but let's face it, you can play the PSP version of the original final fantasy game from within this app. Performance is great on an iPhone 5s and third generation iPad. The only thing stopping it from getting a full five stars is its interface is a bit of a jumble and takes a lot of getting used to. Give this a download, you won't regret it.

Another broken product. Does not let you join or sign up, slow app very slow and again another broken product from a developer that was good 20 years ago.

Can't compare the Hearthstone. Ok first off I don't play Hearthstone, however how do they expect to compete with hearthstone if they charge 1$ for 30 seconds of gameplay. How can I invite friends to play this game when they see how bad of "pay to play" game this is. So the game is fun and nostalgic but sorry SE you have proven to be too greedy again and this app will never compare to Hearthstone. Also WoW is getting more subscriptions because of Hearthstone, SE can't compete with Blizzard and they only have themselves to blame. I have so much time to write a review because I'm waiting for my stamina to recharge.

Why such a low rating?? This is a great app. I only use this for Triple Triad, but just recently I downloaded FFVIII Remastered! If it weren't for this Portal App I would’ve never known about the release of FFVIII Remastered for mobile! Honestly, I’ve never had any problems with this app. I get all my final fantasy updates from here and play triple triad with my friends via Bluetooth... again read my title, I’m not exactly sure why this app has a low rating. I guess some of the fan base gets triggered when something small is outta place.

Good app. The app feels a bit clunky due to its visuals; nothing is smooth, all transitions are rigid. However, it runs fast, and the layout is easy to follow. People seem to be complaining about the app being freemium... The App Store states that the app offers in-app purchases. It's a proven business model and complaining isn't going to change anything. Read about the app before you rate the app poorly for working as advertised. smh

Login. Yeah, you have successfully logged into anything square.. Is something I haven't read in about four years. Your massive security with the prospective violations of privacy laws is ridiculous. Send the reset to the email.. Confirm email. That should be enough by no. They want your moms maiden name, your school and birthday.. What are you trying to apply for my Social security benefits??? So I make a new account.. Guess what?? Failure to log it with new account.. Square, you seriously need to take a look at yourself and just do what your FF exec did and fall on your sword..

Pay to play game. I love triple triad from FF8, and really wanted to like this game, but this game is just atrocious. Game is suppose to be free to play, but it costs crystals to play, you can only have 5 crystals, each crystal takes 30 min to refill, each game only lasts 30 seconds, and it costs $0.99 to refill one crystal. So you pay $0.99 to play for 30 seconds. At full charge, gameplay only lasts 2 1/2 minutes! You dont even get to enjoy the game before its over. Also, 5 star cards barely show up in solo mode, so its impossible to farm when you have to wait 30 min to recharge! And the game is online only, even when you want to play solo mode against te cpu you have to be connected to the internet! Also, there is apparently a limit to the number of real players you can face in a row. I fought in versus mode three times before they told me i fought too many players and need to wait before facing more. Dont download. Game is not worth the time and effort.

Can’t Even Make an Account. I wanted to play Triple Triad. After downloading this burdensome cluttered app for one simple game I was directed that I needed to make an account and that it could only be made on the “official website.” What website? That would be nice info for them to include! There’s no direct link and it doesn’t tell you anywhere what the website is. I made an account in the Square Enix website, but apparently that isn’t what they were looking for. I tried to go to the Final Fantasy portal website but couldn’t even find a place to try and make an account. Then I gave up, it isn’t worth it. Fix this app! Or better yet make a dedicated Triple Triad app, that’s the only reason anyone bothers to download this thing. Most apps don’t force you to make an account and if they do you can make it in the app or at least get to the website through the app. These are hilariously simple design flaws that should have been fixed before this app was even released.

Don't like it anymore--too big.. Unfortunately, as they warned, iOS 9 basically broke the app. I can't play Triple Triad on my iPhone 6 anymore because it crashes every time I try to load it. It's a data hog. Sorta cool portal app otherwise though. It's like a virtual magazine/catalog! Really the only reason to have it is when they feature in-game monthly bonuses for logging in though. The interface is terrible and as I said, it should take up half the hard drive space it does.

Log In Issues and no Customer Support. How can I log into my Square Enix account via my browser but not in this Portal App using the same exact credentials?

Triple Triad!. Since this app is light on reviews, I figure I'd write one. I could care less about the portal app, but Triple Triad is awesome. I wish they'd make it a standalone app and implement the gatcha system instead of piggybacking it onto something else. Triple Triad plays fast, basically you can play 5 games an hour based on having to use 1 crystal per match (you get at max 5, and the game uses one whether you win or lose or draw). You get more and rarer cards by defeating NPCs. There are 3 levels of difficulty and 15 opponents per level. It's a fun game to kill some time but that's about it. It's more nostalgic than anything, here's to hoping they make it a standalone game and expand on it - Tetra Master iOS Online please?

Sadly triple triad is gone.... After logging in and selecting start I reach a notice screen. Then when I click on it it does nothing. Just the background image loads and it sits... iPhone6s plus with most up to date IOS

Too much junk, looks like a website from 1998. Please, separate ALL the games living within app. At the very least, free Triple Triad from its grasp, or link it to the FFXIV companion and your in-game cards. For what it’s worth, if your app has to have a “how to use this app” banner. You’ve done something wrong.

Why is it so much money?!?!. I only play this for Triple Triad. The app crashes sometimes when trying to start up the game. It has improved since my original review. I still don’t like the stamina Crystal system. I think crystals should only be lost if the game ends in a draw or a loss. Buying stamina crystals is ridiculous. It’s basically $1 = 1 Crystal, and 1 game is 1 Crystal. It’s basically $1 for 2 minutes at best. UPDATE: For some reason, they upped the difficulty on playing against CPU. I’m winning only 2-3 times per 5 games. Playing on easy feels like playing against normal difficulty. It’s less enjoyable. And why does Triple Triad keep crashing?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Nice app. It's nice to have a centralized app to see all the Final Fantasy games available on mobile. The main attraction is Triple Triad, and while I've seen complaints about the "pay to play" component of needing crystals to play, I think it's fine. I know I'm never going to pay for crystals, and instead I can just pop in every once in a while to play 5 games. It's a great way to pass some time while waiting for FFXIV dungeon queues!

Triple Triad with Triple F2P Barriers. Triple Triad, the card-based game from FF VIII, is included in this app. It's the best (and arguably only) reason to download. Triple Triad is perfect for mobile with great gameplay and lots of cards to collect. HOWEVER! It has some of the worst paywall junk I've ever seen! After 5 games, you must recharge. A game takes ~40 seconds to play, but the gems you cash in for a play take 30 minutes to regenerate! That means you can blow through your 5 allotted gems in 5 minutes tops, then won't be full up again for 2 1/2 hours! That's downright silly! To make matters worse, the pay mechanic is stingy and stupid. You can't just buy gems; you must buy Gil first to then spend on gems. It's about $5 for 7 gems/games (you'll have "change" left over). That means you're paying about $60 AN HOUR to play! If Square charged $0.99 for 5 gems, that wouldn't be awful. Or a full unlock for $5. But they got greedy, which means people are too insulted to pay, which means Square won't make money, which means WE ALL LOSE!

Needs a LOT of work. This app needs a lot of work. Can’t log in, constantly takes me back to the same page, sends notifications when the setting is turned off...I expected more Square Enix.

Triple Triad. Great game but BAD pay to play style. Yes its free to download and you get to play free as long as you have crystals. To get more crystals you need to buy them with real money or WAIT 30 minutes for one crystal. You get 5 crystals max and it costs 1 crystal per match, be it one player or online multiplayer. Matches are roughly 30-45 seconds long. So by the time you finish 5 matches using your 5 crystals you might only have to wait a minute to play again then its a 30 minute wait each match. Unless you pay $0.99 per crystal needed per match. NO THANKS! Uninstalled! Will reinstal once its not pay to play. Pay to get more cards or pay once for the app sure, but not pay to play per match.

Versus matches never find opponents. When i stumbled upon triple triad in this app i was so excited to know that i could vs people all around the world and collect cards, i can't blame iOS 9 for anything wrong cause i got this game after getting iOS 9 but whenever i wait for game center to find me an opponent, it never happens... I've let it search for a good half hour and nothing... Im sure i am not the only person in the US playing this game let alone the world... Please fix this if there has infact been a high volume of players in versus mode in the past... Hope to see some sort of feedback soon... Otherwise the game itself is an awesome modernized version!!!! ✌🏿️

How to antagonize fans. Just as title states. Square must think every single final fantasy fan has a ridiculous amount of money to spend on their in game purchases. I mean the whole premise and setup of this app is to scam money from you. Absolute and pure greed. Pay to play is a abomination. Get rid of it and set a fair price for your customers instead of bleeding them to death with your greed. There is some positive believe it or not. Triple triad is true to form and will bring back great memories of playing it. Unfortunately the blatant abuse of pay to play basically turns you off of the whole thing. Really a shame.

Can’t login anyways. What are the main things I have with my main square ENix account is that I can’t login using my email address and password anymore. The only way I can actually login to my account and thank God that I did this was that I linked it to my Steam account which now makes that the only way I can get in to my square Enix account. I can’t log on to this app because they don’t have that feature implemented it in this.

Get Your Wallet.... Because Triple Triad, the only reason I got this app, is $1 per match. No, you didn't read that wrong. ONE DOLLAR. You get a few free ones, and they do respawn every 30 minutes. However, this is ridiculous still. I'd pay for more credits if the economics worked better.

Another terrible mobile app by Square Enix. Can't login after being forced to go to their official website. Does not have link to official website. Immediate fail.

*sigh*... People are actually complaining about an *entirely optional* crystal purchase option that you literally do not have to touch? Ugh.. It's almost as if people need to desparately find something to complain about. If they freely recharge every 30 minutes, what's the issue? You're clearly not playing the app 24/7. 30 minutes is not a long time to wait. You don't have to pay a cent, nobody is actually forcing you too. Anyway! Notice how I'm giving it 4 stars rather than 5? I can still be critical, and nothing is perfect. It's a new app, it's going to have teething problems to work out and improve. That'll happen in time, and when people are *constructive* rather than blatantly unhelpful.

Nice idea but. Update: I have push notifications on but never get the so-called points for this... Like the title says, it is a nice idea and I like the points. The only thing is that there is very little content to use the points on. I already have all the pictures and cards, so now points just get wasted. Also, I know it was written in the description on release so I'm not too bothered, but I realised after changing my phone to a new one, I lost my free version of ff 1.

Triple Triad is broken. So, Triple Triad won't lod properly after you press start. It just gets stuck on the brown background screen. I don't suppose a fix is in order?

Triple Triads. need I say more? but seriously, it's a nostalgia hit, a hit that you don't need to play for over 2-3 hours or however long those idiots complaining about the cost of crystals that are also freely generated every 30 minutes

Pay to play. The implementation is great, except it costs 1 crystal per game, even in single player against the AI. You have a max of 5 crystals, and you get a crystal back every 30 minutes. When you're out of crystals, you can't play. You then have to buy crystals from the In-App Store at (get this) about $1.20 USD PER CRYSTAL. Absurd. I'd rather just pay $10 for the app and be done with it. Apart from this abhorrent pay system, it looks and feels great. Shame. I'd like to know who's pumping all their cash into this thing, if anybody.

Won't allow registration. Square apps...... It won't accept either of my email accounts. I live in Canada maybe this is an issue for just me but hard to use an app and judge it when it won't allow me to sign up

Triple Triad keeps crashing. Every other time you launch Triple Triad the app is broken and needs to be redownloaded... I have never seen this before in ANY app. The fact that there is a "redownload data" button built-in speaks for itself. Absolutely horribly made.

Good, but could be so much better!. I downloaded this for the Triple Triad card game. So far the game is fun and well designed. It's exciting to see the art and memorable characters from all the different games, but there are some things that need to be changed to be worthy of a five star rating and the Square name. You are limited to one game per crystal, and crystals recharge at one per 30 minutes, if you want more you have to pay. This is the type of game I want to sit there and play a lot of games in a row to earn more cards, but I'm not going to pay per play. This game NEEDS a one time fee premium cost that allows for unlimited play.

Terrible. So yeah I just created a ID on their official website and when I'm trying to log-in with the ff portal, it keep saying wrong ID or invalid password...👏🏻👏🏻

Need to review time for crystals. Great app with great potential. Love playing triple triad again but HATE the waiting to play more than 5 matches in a row.

TRIPLE TRIAD AS A STAND ALONE APP!. I'm really enjoying this app. Although triple triad should truly be its own app. I would pay for a game that intelligently gets more difficult as I gain points and experience. Triple triad could be an incredible hit if it were its own game. Not a game hidden within an app. No one is going to find it there.

Not too shabby.. The app itself is great. An easy way to access all the latest news and games. I'm playing the portal version of FF 1. No complaints. It must be my umpteenth time playing the thing. My only complaint is that Triple Triad costs money to play anything more than 45 lightning fast rounds in a 24 hour span at the absolute most. I really thought this would have been free. It was my favourite part of FF IX and a perfect addition to FF XIV. This is.. Like any other "Free" to play game. Triple Triad is a card game I want to grind for hours. It plays great though. And the collection is great!

Intuitive. App and mobile web site are both extremely difficult to navigate. They no not have intuitive links where you need them, and there is no quick connection between the confusing website and the app. Was expecting more from a gaming support app.

Worst kind of freemium. Triple Triad is a fun game but the fact that a match only takes a minute and you only earn a new life every 30 minutes is terrible. Plus, if you buy or earn extra "stock" past 5, those are used *before* the ones you get every half hour. Awful. For the portal app itself, rewards for browsing around are just ridiculous. Everything you can possibly do in the app now gives you less than 30 points total, and the cheapest triple triad card you can unlock is 80 points. These points apparently expire every two months so it looks like you need basically constant activity reading and viewing every piece of content possible to even hope of getting the more expensive stuff. I doubt it'll be even possible in the first few months. This could be good, but the design and planning are an embarrassment plus the freemium implementation is flat out abusive. You won't be finding many people in matchmaking because most people will get annoyed and never return after a few seasons.

Cut the pay to play crap. Triple Triad is great and all, but you're limited in how many times you can play it. The only way to play more is sit and wait or dish out cash repeatedly …I miss those days where you paid for something once…

Persistent Glitch. It’s fun to be able to play Triple Triad again, but extremely frustrating that the app glitches each and every time I open it, causing me to have to spend 3-5 minutes (depending on my internet connection) re-downloading data. A fix would be greatly appreciated...

Triple Triad Crystals 😡. How did you guys go from walk up to people and press "square" to 5 limited crystals and pay for more. I was super excited to play but that crystal thing is a turn off. At least give the player 10 crystals and lower to wait to get more. 15 minutes guys??? As a fan of the series I feel you guy should make some changes to the app.

Triple triad used to be great. After the latest update, it deleted my triple triad progress and upon starting over, I can't even get through the tutorial. It tells me to select an opponent and there is no opponent to select. Way to ruin it guys.

Expectations not met. Square, You made your money on triple triad with the sales of FF8. Its a joke that you're charging to play after a player runs out of crystals. I'm uninstalling this until the TT experience is either free or one time up front payment, end to end.

Too hard to get account. Setting up and logging in to account is all I've done for 1 hour, before giving up. I only wanted the crossover rewards for FFBE but that's for just the number of people using both apps and if I can't do it easily then the rest won't either making this app completely useless and rewards for the crossover become moot

Maybe. For people expressing anger towards triple triad. It's your choice if you spend money or not. Yes it's .99 cents for a gem, but it's not like you're gonna play the game 24/7 right? It does have its ups and downs though. Even a 4* deck could take down a 5* star deck I've done it and worked my way towards my own 5* deck.

Versus mode fail. Integrating microtransactions into the app was a terrible idea. You want to play other people but the crystals limit that. You can sit waiting for matches for half an hour, an hour or more now. Huge fail by square for misunderstanding what would make this app work (and only logging in every hour for a few minutes to wait on crystals is just terrible logic).

Useless. Unable to log in.. Apparently, the app was designed by feral chimps. I have been unable to login, even after verifying through a web browser that my credentials are correct. Giving up and deleting this wretched app.

Fun but.... Triple triad is fun in the beginning but once you get a few 5 stars (randomly grinding the same enemies over and over) it gets kind of boring. Nothing really left to do.

Fix Triple Triad. I loved triple triad in FF8. This cash grab free to play version is so corrupted no one is even playing online. The crystal idea is so bogus. Fifteen minutes to wait for it to recharge?!? And to top it all off when you "draw" against someone it might as well count as a loss because it spends a crystal. Are you even trying to get people to play this or what?

Really?. Not sure about entire app, but regarding Triple Triad: Guys, really? You just messed up the entire gameplay and layout. Basic tutorial is Soooo long ang slow and boring, I didn't even bother completing it. 5 rounds. 30 minutes recharge? Awesome! Thums up for losing players. Notifications? Forget about it. No comments. Graphical designers and animators deserve 5 stars, thats why you get 2. Graphics 5, interface 0. Uninstalling.

Great FF app!!. Great app, triad is a lot of fun, haven't had the login issues others reported.

Finally. I've been wanting triple triad on a smart phone for years! Couldn't be more happy with this! The portal app is nice too. I wish it could launch all FF games direct from the app instead of routing through the App Store but that's more an Apple restriction.

Triple Triad isn't working. I got this app on launch day and had a blast playing Triple Triad. However, since iOS 9 launched, I can't play as it doesn't load.

Triple Triad. Need to improve multiplayer matchup. It's impossible for a newcomer to play since everyone has aces/5* cards which you can only get by very low chance against npcs. Not even remotely fair since you pair up people with 0 wins with >120 wins. Also by not allowing people new to multiplayer to choose rules there's no strategy at all, just brute force. Did anyone even think this through when adding multiplayer?

Wish Triple Triad was standalone. Only downloaded the app to play Triple Triad, which is plenty of fun. I just wish i could just have TT on its own. Bach Mai

Got my hopes up. I was really excited to see FFII becoming free for a little while, and I thought square enix was being nice for once. Little did I know, getting FFII required this portal app which can only be used with a stable internet connection, you can't even play your downloaded game without Internet. I thought you would were changing square enix.

Fix. It blow5 that some who downloaded the app too late didn't get the free ff game, and the only thing that's good on this app is the ff8 card game but even that is broken. We downloaded your app let us play freely or less restricted that's just bull and maybe you know dumb down the rule because there not even explained to where we can just look at them and go, oh ok I get it. BECAUSE WE DONT GET IT!!!!

I don't mind waiting for crystals but. The online multiplayer part of Triple Triad is terrible. There is no matchmaking, it just puts you in games with people who have all the best cards and I don't have any cards with ace sides. I manage to draw each time but it's no fun when you don't stand much chance of winning.

Take off stamina / crystals!. TT is so amazing and thought it would rival something like Hearthstone. Both great games on their own, but whoever at SE thought it was a good idea to put crystals to keep playing isn't in touch with the fans and only care about their pockets. Besides the stupid stamina that many people loathe and holds the game back, TT is amazing and fun. The portal itself is alright and I can see it being put to use for sure.

Triple triad. Great game but need to add more players for solo and it takes WAY TO LONG for crystals takes 2 and 1/2 hrs to fully recharge 5 crystals. 5 min would be great but a half hour is way to long.

Awesome, but needs one little touch.. Can you please, for the love of traveling in a car, make this app, offline-available!

Deserves no stars. This app won't let me log in even though I'm putting in the right information. I've changed my password multiple times and it still won't work. Customer support, of course, was useless. It tells you to use this app to get rewards but fails to even work. Horrible

This is a joke. Instead of wasting time creating a useless app that does nothing maybe the focus should be on fixing the libra app so your customers don't get tired of this crap. Don't bother downloading this junk.

Triple triad cash grab = embarrassment. Like others I've downloaded this app primarily for the triple triad card game. You have 5 energy crystals in which 1 match uses a crystal. Each crystal will replenish after a whopping 30 minutes! It costs 0.99 for 1 crystal if you don't want to wait. I'd rather have payed 5 dollars for the triple triad app alone than to get this pathetic free version. Sigh. Game itself is great and lots of cards have been added. Change this crystal system and it gets 5 stars.

Garbage app before, now can't even sign on. I downloaded the app a while back and deleted it because it was useless. Square Enix offered bonuses in another game for using this app, so I downloaded it again. Now I can't even get access after thirty minutes of trying. Worst UX ever. Don't bother with it, unless you want to see how little Square Enix cares for their customer, after squeezing them dry for years. Stuff like this makes me wish I hated their games, too, so I didn't have to give them ANY support.

Poor execution 😞. My main interest was triple triads, which I loved. It runs well but could use improvement. The fact that you can only unlock limited card slots by playing online matches (which no one seems to be available for) hinders my desire to invest money in this app.

So-so. To start I love the app...I love triple triad and it's nice to relive all the hours I spent playing it in FF8. But I have to say I hate the timer on plays...hate it! I'd gladly pay once up front to play triple triad whoever many times I want. My biggest gripe is that anytime I click "Start" at the triple triad screen, the screen turns black and no longer loads it up. I can no longer play until it's fixed.

No music in Final Fantasy 1. I have tried multiple avenues to get the music to work while I play Final Fantasy, but it won't work! I've read multiple forums and I'm not the only one with this issue. Please fix the app to support the music to this iconic game!

Cool Idea, Quite Flawed. I like the idea of this app, but I'd rather play Final Fantasy games as their own standalone apps. And that includes Triple Triad. It just recently stopped working altogether. Had to redownload it. And I'm about to travel quite a bit and won't be able to play on most flights. Please make premium versions of all the Final Fantasy card games for those of us who want separate apps and not this f2p stuff.

Horrible UI and Experience. Quality is expected with applications these days. Apple has UI guidelines as well as people being payed to make good user experiences. This app fails miserably at every aspect. Not to mention: The hierarchy of design is poor, the app is buggy (as other people have noted), and the wrapper for FF1 couldn't be more annoying.

Battery killer, too much pay to play. Pay structure is crazy and it'll destroy your battery. Triple Triad is great but the UX is poor. Combined with the first two points, I had to delete.

Disappointed. I would buy Triple Triad as a standalone app because the card game is fun. However, the F2P aspect of having to buy crystals is not only expensive but destroys the enjoyment. I do not recommend this game in this format. An internet connection is also required to play. It's roughly .40 cents per crystal at best value and .99 cents at worst value. One crystal is one game and the games last about 30 to 50 seconds. The portal app itself, currently, is just advertisements rather that providing news or other interesting information about final fantasy.

Don't bother. Between the ridiculous cash grab and the fact that apparently everyone online has nothing but aces in their deck, there's really no point. Square-Enix used to be something special fifteen, twenty years ago. Now a sad shadow of its former self. Only gave it one star because the store wouldn't let me give it zero.

Incredibly greedy pay structure.. The game only regenerates 1 crystal every 15 minutes or so but every actual game played is less than 1 minute long. In addition, the prices for the crystals are far too high compared to the amount of playtime exchanged so it is simply not worth the effort. It's a shame they can't just charge a one time fee.

Chaos Rule Ruins Triple Triad Solo Game. The game itself is as fun as I remember it. However the Chaos rule appears way too many times in the single player campaign. It really isn't fun having the order of your card plays being taken out of your control for so many matches. Maybe an update will fix it but I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

Triple Triad is completely busted, you guys.. As you've likely come to find out from the unfortunate echo chamber of negativity that is pooping on this app, Triple Triad is awful. As it stands now, it takes any nostalgia you may have felt for it, throttles it until it's foaming at the mouth, then takes your wallet because it's pay-to-play as well. Also, for me the game literally does not work, so.

So Bad. This game is so bad if you are young and have little FF experience. I have only played 5,6,7,8, and RK and I can't do anything because I don't know anything. It not worth getting the mythril and is bad if you have no experience.

Triple Triad. I was so excited to finally try this game and didn't mind the slight sluggishness but I was stopped in my tracks by the "crystals." Horrible pay to play system - completely overpriced and just ridiculous. This is why no one is playing the game - you can't find anyone online. Stay away unless you want to wait 15 minutes to play just one match - or pay about $1 to play one. 🙄

Looked promising, terrible execution. App navigation is awful. The triple triad implementation is weak - multiplayer can be slow to set up and the limited number of games (offline as well) is just insulting. The point system for prizes is what is making me write this review for I remove the app. Points are slow to acquire and expire monthly (maybe bi-monthly, I'm not even sure now) and everything is so expensive that I don't think I could ever get any of the card prizes before my points would expire.

Triple Triad great, 30 minutes between games.... I love Triple Triad, but the wait time for crystals to refresh is ridiculous. A game takes about a minute to complete and costs 1 crystal. However it takes 30 minutes for each crystal to refresh. If the wait time was down to 3-5 minutes this would be a 5 star app just for triple triad.

Love triple triad and the portal app is neat. Love the app portion with all the news and updates And the best part is triple triad in-app game. But the reason this app gets only 3 stars is the timer on your lives needs to be lowered significantly 30 minutes per crystal is wayyyy too long. I suggest 10-15 minutes. I understand these apps cost money to upkeep and produce and you are a business that is trying to make a dollar. But please reduce the recharge timer

Neat... It's nice to have an app to tell me what you guys are up to, but I think the inclusion of the game and apps... are "Unnecessary." For example Triple Triad, if you made that a stand alone game like FFRK I would go crazy and throw my money at you.*for more cards I guess...* Anyway I hope you expand and improve on this.

Triple triad. First off downloaded the new update and the app crashes all the time. Second triple triad is a rip off..... 5 games and you're done for 20 to 30 minutes. It's just something for them to make money off of. To keep playing you gotta keep paying or wait forever.

Great app. I love the Triple Triad game and the addition of the first Final Fantasy game! The interface could be smoother, but it works well!

Cannot Log-In. I downloaded this app for the FFBE points and to play TT. I have an existing SE account and I cannot log into it through this app. I triple-checked to make sure my information is correct and even reset my password a couple times with no luck. SE has progressively gotten worst and my respect for them almost gone. Fix this SE!

Can't login , can't get help. I know my login info but it keeps saying it's wrong and this is the only place it's wrong. Tried to contact SE, nothing. Went to the forums and saw a few people asking about the same problem but no one is monitoring the forums to answer them. Square Enid has gone done the toilet.
