Finally. A geolocation game with action rpg elements, the battle alone makes this a five star game finally getting to actually attack in a mobile game instead of just push button rinse and repeat. Love the attention to every little detail with the enemies and weapons the nuance of finding each weapons rhythm and style the balance of gameplay elements is fun and engaging. Only two complaints really, First they stopped giving level rewards at around level 50 I am currently level 103 and can’t remember the last time I even owned a paintball. Second, the diablos fights get to be a bit much not because they hard but because the diablos can lock itself in a two move loop using its underground and dash attack and make it so it’s too far away to attack, while I understand this could be mitigated through coop play…I really don’t like or enjoy coop play and I even when I feel like it I don’t have much time to coop play as I spend a lot of time offshore, each other enemy has a balance even the Barrioth but the diablos after countless successful hunts I am unable to defeat a measly five star just because it keeps getting to far away for me to attack. Again I will say though the combat alone makes up for most faults I have missed being able to actually move around and fight like a normal game used to be before all these boring mobile clones it’s so nice to see this isn’t just a Pokémon go clone.

Hopes and Fears. I'm a huge fan of the MH series. Started on tri. I was initially afraid of how the gameplay would translate to mobile but the moment to moment mechanics and game feel reflects the mainline series appropriately for mobile devices. I'm having a lot of fun taking walks to gather resources and hunt large monsters; I look forward to updates that will continue to foster an engaging experience. My criticisms are few but pointed. First, sometimes my swipes to dodge aren't registered. I know in traditional mainline games, your attack animation has to be finish before you can input a dodge, so I've tested it with my character just standing and the issue persists. I assume there is a range and speed threshold that needs to be met to successfully dodge, but it's difficult to tell where it is. Second, the game is free. I fear overtime the monetization of MH:N's freemium nature will become more of an obstacle than a simple option. I see myself playing this until the servers shut down so i'd much rather buy the game out right or even pay a simple monthly subscription to access shop items via zenny instead of being nickel-and-dimed for health potions. We'll see how it goes though. 🐉

This is a great but it doesn’t come with out a few flaws. I really love mhn, the is really fluid and the graphics are fantastic. This game makes you want to go outside and explore. However there are a few things that I’m not to happy with. The first one being that the drop rate for rarity 4 and higher are way too high! It’s understandable with a main line title because you can hunt the same monster over and over again, and I get that you want people to duplicate the drops they get with money but I haven’t even gotten one prime scale out side the ones you’re given through the main quest. The other thing is that you should be able to gain rarity 4 drops outside of gathering spots, because at the moment the only way to get earth crystals is to go to one of these spots and for me at least it’s not really an option on my usual walking routes. You should also give the ability to craft stuff with all the extra resources we gather like traps, flash bombs, etc. But overall I have had a great experience playing the game but I think with a few improvements such as just making the game less grindy (I mean is monster hunter but this is a little excessive) this game will really shine.

So far so good.. Runs really well on higher-end phones, which is a first for Niantic since Wizards Unite. Hopefully they don’t poison the game with user-hostile challenges like they did with Wizards Unite. Gameplay is fun and quick, which is important. A Niantic game hasn’t been quick since Ingress. It’s not particularly immersive and the concept is boring so far, and there aren’t a lot of ways to play with other people. Play sessions are short and I don’t want to pay to increase my interaction radius (this game made the mistake of dropping when I’m pretty broke), but it doesn’t look like that would play much. There are constant warnings against playing while walking, which is a true first for Niantic. It also doesn’t feel like the kind of thing you’d want to do while walking. Anyway, my only actual suggestion would be to make the story a little more substantial and faster-paced. Maybe make it so there are more monsters to hunt if you’re holding still. Maybe give us the equivalent of Incense in Pokémon Go, but only if it makes encounters even more frequent than they were at the peak of the Pandemic (the part when people were acknowledging that there was a pandemic).

Fun until it’s not. So I got this game and loved it, so much fun to play and felt like I always made progress, it wasn’t until I got to the 4+ star monsters did the game slow down to a screeching halt, your weapons where once good now become useless because they don’t deal enough damage, your armor only saves you from one hit, hit boxes for yourself are a pain, and the monsters roar which eats up a good amount of your very very very limited time, and potions become scarce. The main problem is that, monsters don’t drop enough parts, and some weapons don’t break very many parts to begin with, and armor is useless unless you upgrade it which you can’t since weaker monsters don’t spawn, I love the bow but it doesn’t break 90% of parts and since it’s the strongest weapon I have I can only use it because no weaker monsters spawn anymore since I’m high tier and I feel like I can’t do anything now and I’m stuck until weaker monsters spawn more often instead of monsters I can’t kill, so either make it where all weapons can break all parts and body the drops of monsters and make lower level monsters show up

An all around good mobile experience. I’m not a hardcore gamer but I have played and loved several of the MH titles through the past 15 years. I think this game does a good job of emulating the challenge of Monster Hunter and boiling it down to minute long battles. You still have to match and level up the correct weapon for a given monster type, and when you hit 5 Star battles the challenge really kicks in. The two major criticisms that I have at the moment are: 1) The large monster spawn rate is really low. If you’re at home or work or in one place in general for a while, you might only see one or two new generations. 2) The shop prices for items are RIDICULOUS. The in game currency that can only be obtained through real $$ doesn’t even get you far. It costs $1~2 USD to purchase a paintball to mark a monster — and you only get one shot at the fight or the monster runs away. This is incredibly expensive and unrealistic and I hope they change this soon. I usually get in game purchases for games that I like and want to see succeed, but on principal I won’t be spending and money in this game until they fix their rates, which are currently obscene.

One star is more than enough.. The only saving grace of this game is the combat. Material drops are incredibly minimal and appear in limited quantities, gathering points take forever to respawn while constantly giving you items in bulk that you won’t use, daily quests can also offer worthless item drops like sharp claw and wingdrake hides which are the most common drop in the game, I’m receiving these daily quests at HR 45-46 which is arguably disrespectful based on how much time I gave this title already. Basic and advanced healing items are non-existent, enemies are souls-like difficult at times on top of it being made to be even more “impossible” by making you pay a significant amount of real money for potions when a large monster can hit you for your full health with minor attacks. You can wipe out a stack of potions within minutes depending on what you’re hunting. Diablos was the nail in the coffin for me though, I’ve gone up against it probably 30x, constantly killing me in one hit, and even if I don’t get hit my weapons can’t be upgraded to do enough damage since material dips are so bad. Just don’t waste your time, I’ve played nearly ever MH title, accumulation of around 6k+ hours across all titles and platforms and it’s barely a MH title. It’s Pokémon go with MH assets but you actually have things to do in Pokémon go.

Great Callback to Mainline Series. MH:Now is an awesome interpretation of the mainline games, cutting a few corners to make it work as a mobile game. The inclusion of multiple weapons is a must, but Niantic should’ve included all 14 weapons from the start, or at least at HR15 like they did. Only having 6 to choose from is a bit of a disappointment. The weapons we do get include many of the mechanics that the regular series does, requiring directional swipes of your thumb to execute. However, not all weapons feel as robust. The Light Bowgun, without a manual reload or even a melee attack, feels like an after thought. For the weapons that do have these mechanics held over from the mainline games, the lack of a Training Dummy means you can’t practice or learn them. This feels like another oversight. The last mention is the lack of an online party. I’m not sure the requirements behind this, but many of my friends are states and countries away. It would be nice to hunt with them and vice versa, as this would allow us to benefit from each other. As it stands now, the friends list looks more like competition between friends rather than co-op. Aside from these few complaints, I was delighted with how much they did add to the game. With enough marketing, it might even pull in a bunch of new players. I hope it does, so that when the new title releases after MH:Rise, more people will be familiar with it.

Great game. I enjoy the monster hunter games I have played them all on Xbox and am currently playing rise right now. And thought I’d download this and try it out with my brother and a couple friends. It’s fun to play and I enjoy the offline gameplay as your Palico will tag monsters for you to fight later and collect resources but it’s kinda hard to play on the go. Like when your riding in the car or if the map glitches and your character moves to fast you can’t play it will tell you that gameplay is disabled you are moving to fast. Which makes it impossible to fight a monster or collect resources as you go by or even keep up with them since you map will blank out and not show anything. So that is the only thing I can say so far about the game since I’m only HR 12. But it would be nice if it was more like Pokémon and allowed you to still play when driving around going to all the areas to collect resource nodes or paintball monsters.

Niantic. Another great game runied by the greed of Niantic. The game at the start is great there is so much to do and the monsters are easy to hunt. Although as you progress monsters health begins to ramp up on top of that their attacks ramp up too. Without proper gear you will likely get one shot by most attacks and this is where the game falls flat. Lack of resources due to the only way to get them is to go to a resource area that refreshes once per day. Also progression is rng is depended on what the monster drops when you kill it. But wait you can carve the monster… WRONG you can have to pay to carve the monster to get extra parts. Also remember how I said monster will start getting stronger well you only get 5 potions a day which at the start is fine, but when you progress monsters attacks will start doing so much damage that after a fight you are using 1-2. Progression after rank 30 is hard at monsters that I need in order to upgrade my weapons don’t spawn and when they do I can’t carve them because I’ll need to spend gems in order to do that which are unobtainable without spending money. Niantic is known to be money hungry and has done similar things with Pokémon go and they of course are doing it with this game and it’s sad it’s at the start maybe if they allow 3 carves a day just like Palico paintballs it would make the game much more appealing for higher rank hunters and increase the time for fights cause 1:15 is not enough.

Love the game but there’s work to be done. I’ve been playing monster Hunter since 3U. It’s my favorite game franchise and when this was announced I was so stoked! The game is a lot of fun; being simplified for mobile, but still keeps plenty of mechanics in tact despite that. It looks really good, it plays smooth (only ever having minor lag hiccups), and hunting with friends is awesome. There’s also isn’t a lot of monetization which is nice to see for a Niantic game. But after the first two days a few cracks peeked through. For one, spawns are slow and your search range is pretty small. With the way it is now there’s a pretty decent chance you’ll just have to miss out on some hunts due to them being on property you can’t access. Second, the health is really slow to regain. In the later quests, where things hit like a truck, you really begin to feel how slow the regen is, and the lack of healing items other than your daily potions. Last, the speed lock. I understand they don’t want people driving and playing, but why have a confirmation notice about “being the passenger” if it’s going to lock the game completely? I feel like this should be adjusted in some capacity. Other than those it’s been an awesome game with so much promise for the future! Happy hunting!

I hate the fast-motion restricted gameplay mechanic. I love this game, I preordered it once I got the chance and so far I think this game is amazing, but I do not like the restricted gameplay feature and here is why: I say that the gameplay restriction feature is stupid because I am a passenger rider and loved how I could travel around in a car in Pokémon GO and still be able to play. But with this game, I can’t play while moving in a car or—as is most common for me—a bus, which makes traveling around and trying to hunt monsters useless since I can’t go outside and walk around due to me being in a remote and rather dangerous area. I encourage you—the developers—to remove this feature from the game and let everyone who is a passenger play the game while moving in cars and busses, as well as other modes of fast-paced transportation. I also do not like that this game requires internet connection to play. Players should be able to play offline and not have to rely on cellular data or internet to hunt monsters because I—and many others—are solo players and either can’t, or don’t, play multiplayer.

Needs a lot of improvement. Base gameplay is fun, they’ve simplified it for phone obv but it works really well. The problem comes with the RNG. To beat the higher level monsters you need better gear, and to get that better gear you need the higher tier monster parts. Only it almost never drops. I don’t know if the odds are heightened with better grades on hunting but I can’t get the higher grade if I can’t beat the monster in time and I can’t beat the monster in time if I don’t have good enough gear. Do we see the cycle? Another thing, whenever I boot up the game, no matter where I am, near a street, nowhere near a street, there’s always monsters just outside of my little bubble zone but never in it. After rank 20 of this still happening it feels intentional and predatory at this point. Trying to get you to buy the overpriced shop items Also have fun only fighting pukei-pukei and Ku-lu-yaku because sometimes it feels like those are the only 2 monsters that spawn and it’s intensely frustrating. It has so much potential, do not let it be squandered with bad design that can be fixed

Amazing. This game is fantastic, I thought at first, how could monster hunter be platformed on a mobile device and I was truly amazed at how well it turned out. THOUGH I will say that it is not for people who expect to sit around and keep fighting monster after monster continuously, and to be honest I feel that it is a very good thing since it really embraces the idea of the game being like “Monster hunting in the real world” where you run around or drive places to fight a huge variety of monsters, craft new items and weapons, hunting monsters with randoms and with friends in an easy and simple way (which i love about this game) and collecting resources that you will need to craft more equipment. Its a very well made game especially for its idea and the real world experience that the creators wanted to give to the players making it enjoyable for everyone whether or not you are a seasoned player of the MH franchise or a newcomer who just wants to try and enjoy a monster hunting game on mobile. I definitely recommend!!!

Room to grow. I have been playing monster hunter games for years so I was very excited to the franchise getting a real mobile game. I think the game is starting off pretty well. With this being the first day of its official release, of course there are improvements and new content to look forward to. Some notes I have so far are that I like the combat. It's pretty simple with taps and swipes to perform different moves but I think it fits well with the way combat traditionally works with these games. I would like to see more resources or a wider radius of the available area that you can interact with. With how small the current circle is, it's difficult to reach some monsters or resources without going through different properties that have limited access. Also, the game is essentially nonfunctional at moderate to high speeds despite there being a confirmation message that the player is not a driver. That indicates to me that the game should work at roads speeds but it does not, which defeats the purpose of the confirmation. Overall though, I am enjoying the game and look forward to what is released in the future.

Exclusively Monster Hunter World content and passenger speed limit.. My biggest most important complaint so far is that there is no content from any of the other Monster Hunter games. For me this is the kiss of death, this says to me that there will be no monsters from outside of Monster Hunter World such as insects and spiders (Seltas, Seltas Queen, nerscilla, etc), Crabs (hermitaur and Ceanitaur), and no aquatic monsters (lagiacruz, zamtrios, plesioth, etc). It means the TERRIBLE weapon designs from returning monsters in World will carry over into this game, as has already been showcased with the weapons from Barroth. Monster Hunter is entirely about hunting monsters, forging new weapons and armor to hunt stronger monsters, and crafting supplies to do so (which also does not exist in this game as of now because they want money). Aside from those problems the passenger speed limit on being able to do ANYTHING is very, very bad. Not even in Pokémon Go or Pikmin Bloom is this as bad as in this game. I would like there to be more resource outcrops where things are in Pokémon Go and Pikmin Bloom. Lastly I think monsters roaming on the map would be a nice addition.

Great start. Fun game I personally like the character customization and visuals the most. however I would like for the game to change what you can wear without changing armor types. Resources dropped by the boss monsters are lackluster/not plentiful enough resulting in a very heavy grinding experience. Resources have to be trashed instead of sold which for a game that has very little drops for currency/resources, this results in a boring repetitive struggle. The potion system deters players from having longer grind groups with friends if you aren’t perfect dodging or spending money. The displays for the weapons you have unlocked is scattered, leaving you to scroll up and down constantly to check stats or what you want to upgrade. The range of interacting with monsters and resources needs to be increased. The game needs to get rid of the speed lock. Some people have bikes/skateboards or passengers that want to play but can’t due to the speed lock. I want this game to succeed because its very fun/interactive but as of now the game is above average at best with amazing potential. Please don’t let it go to waste and update/fix these problems.

Fun but could use more content. So far, this game is great. As a fan of the MH series, it’s super fun to have a mobile Pokémon Go style game to play. The graphics are good and the combat is amazingly well done. However, the gameplay loop is a bit tiring after a while. I’m currently HR 18, and the game is starting to feel repetitive. Every quest is either kill 5 large monsters, kill 10 monsters, collect from resources, or kill a specific monster. And of those monsters, there are 5 to choose from. I’m sure there will be more as I level up more and hopefully more added in updates. I also would really like more interaction between friends in the game. There’s no gifts or raids or battles like in Pokémon Go, which makes friends seem kind of pointless. Granted, you can join battles with up to four players, but I’ve yet to do this since none of my nearby friends have the game. For the time being, I’m gonna have to say 4 instead of 5 stars. Once some more content is released, it will definitely go up to 5, but with the current state of the game, it gets a little boring.

Gameplay Restrictions While Driving. So far I absolutely love this game. I am fairly new to the Monster Hunter fandom only starting from Monster Hunter World about a year ago but I think that this follows that pretty well. There are a few bugs here and there such as slow dodging when I swipe or taking a bit to load a battle against a large monster but that’s expected from a game release only a week ago. My biggest complaint is that when you are at driving speed it only shows the road. I understand that it’s to prevent people from driving but as a passenger just trying to find a Kulu-Ya-Ku so I can upgrade my armor it’s a bit of a hassle. I only really have time to play at home or in the car and I can’t play in the car. I think it would be a good idea to have markers showing where monsters or supplies are like how you can see what’s outside your range in walking speed, you would have to pull the car over and then hunt the monster. There could also be an option to paintball a monster for later if you’ve confirmed you’re a passenger.

A very fun game. I have no complaints, only preferences. I like that there is an actual sense of progression in this game compared to pokemon go, it has it its just hard to notice it when you plan on catching everything anyway. I will say its strange that you unlocked the next weapon type at hr 15, its not a complaint just not something i expected. A preference I have is I wish there was just a little bit more monsters and materials around, it sometimes takes about 5 minutes of walking just to fight your next monster which usually lasts under 20 seconds. An Idea I thought would be cool is if randomly an event would happen where you get attacked by a monster and you had to beat it do defend yourself, making the monsters feel more like monsters. And could solve the issue with monsters being spread out so far sometimes. But overall its a 5/5 nothing i mention is really a complaint just something I see as improvements to quality of life.

Great homage to a beloved franchise. Having been an entrenched and enamored Hunter since Tri, I was beyond thrilled to see what could be my favorite game franchise given the Niantic treatment. There is a clear amount of love and respect for the source material, like PoGo, and the devs are definitely putting together a polished gaming experience. Pros: fun battle sequences, and the quick monster encounters make for more dynamic action with each fight. Looking forward to seeing more weapons showing up (here’s hoping for dual blades!). The event progressions are fun, and the availability of monsters on the map seemingly anywhere I go means there’s almost always something to do. Cons: I wonder if the circle size could expand a bit. More than once I’ve gone after a high rank rathalos (gotta get those plates) only to find that they are plopped in private property, out of reach. Also, I feel as though the loot system isn’t really optimized to encourage higher rank monster hunts. I have had way too many 6-7 star monsters result in 6 rare1 drops. This seems a failure, to me. I would hope the devs look at the drop tables as the monsters rise in difficulty a little more closely. 7 stars should not be dropping ONLY low rank loot. I also wonder if the weapon forging tables are a bit too simple. I wind up with hundreds of shells or scales, and constantly needing tails. Looking forward to seeing how the game develops from here. Happy hunting, everyone!

Fun with a twist. Love love love it! Easy and fun. Only one issue. And one suggestion the issue I have First is where I live. There’s a private community gated private community. The circle is not big enough to get the goodies that are inside that private community and I don’t live in that community. Therefore, I don’t have access to it the suggestion I have. is make the circle either larger or remove things that we cannot get it because it’s tempting. I wanna hop the fence, but no really the true suggestion I have is it would be nice to be able to see the scoring and ranking of other players, after a battle, for example if we were in a group battle party or rally whatever you want to say and we slay the monster at the end it would be nice to see who got the final hit who you know scored the most that’s just a fun little suggestion the other issue I had was not really an issue, but when creating your character, the setting of the eyes are really creepy Yeah so that her eye shaves would be good because the eyes are creepy! Other than that the game is fun.

Needs improvement, then it’ll be a 5 star game.. As a veteran Monster hunter player, the time you have to hunt a monster and how much the monster attacks and the time you spend evading. You actually only have 60 seconds to fight. Which on the lower tier monsters it isn’t that big of a deal. But when you get to the part of the game where you get to 4-5 star monsters. Their health, attack rate far exceeds your ability to hunt them in under two mins. Plus not to mention the lack of farmable resources and how much this game demands you need to further craft your gear to get it up to par with the monster to stand a chance. For instance the Legiana has maybe a 10% chance you’ll find one maybe two in the swamp area if you are lucky! So good luck walking to hunt the one if it’s available. Now on to the drop rates for rare materials. It’s worse than a console or pc monster hunter game. Like they really want to to walk, walk some more and fight and fight. Just to be denied the parts you need. Nothing like fighting a 5 star, slaying it and getting tier one or tier two parts. Maybe even a tier three part. Absolutely a disappointment to monster hunter so far. Like y’all have plenty of time to make this game. Pokémon Go has better rates than this game and it’s been out for years. Just take what you have in polemon go and apply it to this game. Seriously don’t disrespect the monster hunter franchise with a game like the you just released do better Niantic! We deserve more than this crap.

Rexxif. The game is fun and very engaging. I very much enjoy playing the game. Group hunts are great and function without issues. The graphics, quality and story are great with the ability to adjust the settings based on your service and connection speed. The one thing that I’ve found, after a couple of months, is it takes a very long time to level up. You are required to do so many battles, in view too many, in order to continue playing past level six monsters. This game consumes a great of deal of time at this point. The creators may find many players giving up and moving on to something else. You cannot use your coins to purchase anything unlike Pokémon which allows you to buy items to progress through game. Monster Hunters approach is to push you into purchasing gems that can be used to move forward in the game. It can become expensive very quickly if your impatient and don’t have the ability to put hours upon hours in to playing the game.

Just as Fun and Addicting as Pokémon Go!. If you’ve been following Niantic for any amount of time, you’ll know what to expect. Just like with “Pokémon Go!,” they pack in an addictive gameplay loop revolving around quick interactions. Now if you are a fan of the main series Monster Hunter games, this previous statement may worry you. The point in the main series games is to prep for extensive, intense hunts against really tough monsters. I too was worried. But having played this game for about 3 days now, I can see where this spin on the franchise can have its own seat in the series. The battles last less than 75sec, as that is the allotted goal to complete the hunt. It’s fun to conquer new monsters, and upgrade weapons and armor just like in other games. I think where the “fun” really begins is when meeting with other players to take on these foes. That’s where the magic of Niantic shines the brightest. Accepting that this is not a main installment, and just another creative avenue for Capcom to explore and expand its Monster Hunter influence to more potential fans is key. There certainly is still a lot of work to be done to flesh out the game, but I can see the potential; and I am fully confident in Niantic’s ability to build upon their games over time. Even to this day, I fire up Pokémon Go to take a look at what’s changed in the areas near me. I know this Monster Hunter game will be another one I come back to time and time again for a casual play for years to come.

Fun, but predatory cash shop. Game is a lot of fun. Combat is a solid simplistic MH game. Expect to grind for gear, but even more so than the average MH. Unfortunately your hunting circle is pretty small and respawn times are absolutely atrocious. You can pay to have a slightly larger circle for a very little amount of time, but the insanely low respawns make it not worth it in the slightest. If I move faster than a slow pace it will trigger the moving too quick feature and lock me from playing for a minute. Can’t craft potions which as anyone that plays the series knows this is like a souls game, the monsters hit hard and unforgivingly. Potions, along with everything else in the cash shop, are priced way too high for what little they do. If we are going to have to pay money for a potion, why not have it at least full heal? Update 9/24 They had their first event! Updating review from 3 to 1 stars. They chose a 5 star monster (Diablos) that anyone under around HR 35 would have no chance with. It hit like a truck and unless you weren’t hard farming to get well over 400 armor you will get 1 shot constantly. Additionally there was the black diablos that was even stronger. I was HR 36 and was able to kill 1 during the whole event. Had to do it solo since bringing anyone in just made them have too much HP.

Monster part drop rates are broken. It’s fun to play and the mechanics are smooth, but I like put in the sticks and no large resource nodes spawn within several miles of me and only a couple large monster and small resource nodes spawn at a time and doesn’t refresh for a while. This isn’t like the console games where you can farm one monster over and over. The drop rate of items need to be fixed. I’ve been playing for weeks trying to get a 4 star part from a pukei and after finishing many many fights with a 4 star pukei the part still hasn’t dropped so I’m stuck on weaker tier weapons just waiting for 4 star monster to spawn and then hoping that when they do, they drop the part I need, which still hasn’t happened. It’s impossible to progress without endless grinding and praying to the RNG gods that when you FINALLY find the monster they drop their equal rarity part. I’ve gotten to rank 42 and still only have tier 3 equipment, I can’t beat 5 star monsters because I don’t have enough damage output, but can’t get more damage because I can’t find the parts. Fix the drop rates

Interesting, fun, has future potential. A fun game for traveling, whether you are currently or not doesn’t matter, game is playable anywhere and doesn’t set much restrictions to when or where other than the somewhat annoying speed limit that disables gameplay, safety is first but still, clicking on an empty space where there was once material loot or an enemy is disorientating. Combat is smooth and intuitive, there are some minor visual hang ups when fighting certain star enemies though such as when you get hit by a rolling attack and your character rolls along with it but is pretty much squashed underneath or is way farther away from the enemy sometimes. I would like if I could interrupt my attacks easier though other than bashing the enemy, but that’s a skill issue. Has plenty features to make the game entertaining, there are probably battle features or skills I haven’t encountered yet. The main game is entertaining and gets you hooked, you spend more time than you think playing it. Progression wise, it is pretty stable and introduces content and skills at a good pace. Hopefully there will be more to come

Slow start. TL;DR: The game manages to compact the MH fighting experience really well. Due to majority of weapons and monsters being progression locked the game appears that it lacks content in the early levels. The game is fantastic in gameplay. Each monster has their own move sets with different weapons being more efficient in defeating and/or breaking parts just like regular Monster Hunter. The game starts off slow due to both monsters and weapons being locked behind progression. HR 1-11 is basically the tutorial. Majority of weapons are unlocked at HR 15 leaving you with just the sword/shield and possibly the greatsword if you progressed far enough in chapters. This makes the game seem like it lacks content early on since most of your equipment and the monsters themselves are locked away making it a hard sell among friends. Like trying to convince your friends to watch a show that’s really good starting at the second season but only alright in the first. Personally I think they should also slightly ease up on the driving lock-up. I understand what they were going for but because the lock-up is sensitive whenever I take a walk (Heaven forbid I ever plan to run with this game open) to an area with spotty connection the game will lock-up due to your avatar walking just about anywhere at just the right speed to lock-up the game. This makes you have to walk then stand still frequently waiting for the game to respawn everything and unlock resource points.

Great game, but a few suggestions. The game overall is excellent! I have always been a fan of the series for nearly two decades, so having a pocket version is top tier! I love the variety of weapons and the monsters presented give a good fight (4 stars or above). I will point out that the store is a bit pricey and those gems run out quick, so hopefully they balance the prices. Also, the friend list is basically useless as I thought I could shoot an invite like the console version, but you have to be around 200 meters or less to link up. Until they update that, it’s no point in using it. One more thing to add is the monsters you will need for key items can be a task sometimes, and repeat monsters will sometimes be an annoyance. Overall, I still recommend the game, but if you want the real experience, go to the console version of MH. **UPDATE*** This game seems to have some serious bugs. Dodges or pressing the red button for your super does not register half the time. I’m beyond tired of paying high prices for potions. I’ll just stick to the console lol.

Grindy. This game is incredibly grindy. Starting off is fun and easy, combat feels nice. But if you are just casually playing this game you are going to get stuck kind of quickly. Once I hit 5 star monsters I wasn’t dealing enough damage to kill them in time, materials to upgrade are a pain to get for higher level gear since it’s all random and it’s super rare to get higher level materials. The rarity makes sense in the mainline games since you can just grind the monster repeatedly and you get a lot of monster drops. But once you kill the monster in this game you get 4 drops, plus one drop for each break, and you can’t fight that monster again unless there’s one you can travel to nearby. This makes it even harder for people to get the rare drops you need to level up your gear. Eventually you are going to hit a wall and you won’t be able to deal enough damage to kill monsters in time, and you will be stuck at that wall for a loooong time. There’s a video talking about the cost of getting a level 10 weapon and it would cost around $400 do get 1 weapon. At that point, just buy Monster Hunter World and have an amazing time with that game.

Fun but needs work. HR 37 right now and I’m enjoying the game, but theres a lot of community disappointment. Potions are micro transactions I get you can play without taking a hit but when a diablos lightly caresses me with its tail and I lose 98% of my hp I really wish I had more than 5 a day without spending a bunch of money on gems. I get the speed limit is for safety but even players who aren’t driving can’t do anything at all. Monster drop rates are ABYSMALLY small I could fight 5 stars all day and only get rarity 1 drops devs really need to up the drop rate or at least make it so higher level monsters don’t drop the lowest rarity items. Refresh rates for gathering spots take too long so unless you’re in a spot with a lot of them you’re not getting much. Diablos event was not good for the majority of the player base barely anyone could take it on unless there were multiple high level hunters. Take everything with a grain of salt it’s good game with room to grow but it does need some work hopefully the devs listen to their community and don’t mess this up.

I love the game but…. I absolutely love the game but It has some issues for example the pelico, it is pretty useless right now it paintballs monsters that are sometimes totally useless, like I need to hunt a four star puki pukki and he paint ball’s a one star kuli-ya-ku like come on there should be something so you can tell him what to prioritize and what to ignore. the shop, I feel like it’s lacking in things to do with it, it would be good if we could use our coins to buy things and maybe have a trade system with friends, imagine you have something that you’re friend needs and he has something that you need you can trade and progress instead of suffering to the terrible drop rates from the monsters. The drop rates, good lord is this irritating, I’ve been slaying so many pukki puki to get 1 QUILL and I’m yet to get one, I do have a bunch of scales I don't need about 50 of them please don’t be the second coming of fate grand order with terrible drop rates, if you are then make the healing speed faster and give us ten potions instead of five I love playing the game so it’s a real buzz kill when I I have to wait so long to be able to fight again because a diablo refused to go down. Aside of these things the game was made well there is little to no lag and it’s a ton of fun.

Excellent, with room for improvement.. I am a big fan of the Monster Hunter series and when I saw this game finally released I downloaded it immediately. The very start of the game is a little bumpy but once you get past that it’s pretty fun. Unlike other Niantic games, monsters and resources spawn anywhere, allowing you to play this pretty much anywhere at any time, with locations of interest having extra resource geodes. The fights are short and fun, yet demanding enough on your part to keep you glued on the screen. Overall the core gameplay is pretty fun, but there are some problems. First, spawn rates are kinda slow and your circle could be larger. This wouldn’t be too big of a deal normally, but since later upgrades require rare materials, it gets a little annoying, especially if that one monster you need for your gear is behind private property. Second, the pricing on the items seem expensive. A single paintball costs you 1$ USD worth of gems, and all it does is mark a monster so you can battle it later. Finally, if you’re going too fast, you’re pretty much entirely locked out of playing the game. I understand this is to discourage people from gaming and driving, but it is annoying. Overall, this is a really solid game, especially considering it is brand new. I’m sure it will only improve with more updates! Hopefully Niantic doesn’t over-monetize the game into the ground. So far, this is definitely my favorite Niantic game so far and I would highly recommend it!

Great, but with a few major downfalls. To start, MH Now is a fantastic and authentic spinoff that is a great representation of the entire franchise. The combat feels amazing, the armor and weapons look great, and all of the monsters feel just like the ones from MH World. But, MH Now does have a couple of glaring weakness that bump it down significantly. Firstly, and most importantly, the timer when fighting large monsters is way too short. In the main games, it usually only takes 10-15 minutes to kill a monster, and you have a timer of 50 minutes! In monster hunter now, every hunt takes up the ENTIRE 75-second timer. Additionally, you get far too little rewards and parts after you actually kill the monster. Monster Hunter has always been a grind, but it is multiplied exponentially by the lack of choice in what monsters spawn near you. Don’t get me wrong, the game is still very much worth playing, but once you get to 4-5 star monsters, it slows down dramatically and becomes a massive grind. With a few tweaks though, it could be a masterpiece.

Needs serious work.. I’m going to start off by saying, I’ve been a fan of the franchise for a long time. That said I went into this game with a lot more hope than I should’ve had. There were several issues that were obvious from the start but I still gave it a chance to see if it got better at a higher level. My account is at almost level 30 now but none of the issues improve as you level. The drop rates for materials are horrible and spawn rates for large monsters are also very limited. The reach of your circle is tiny which doesn’t help accessing monsters/materials and the only way to increase it is expensive items you have to pay real money for. If the game actually rewarded you with some of the in game currency on occasion it might work better. Another problem is that I’m not even sure what occasions they give out the in game currency for, unless it’s glitched currently. So without the currency you’re stuck paying for anything you need from paintballs to potions if you run out of the small daily amount provided. Basically, as the game stands, you’re stuck behind a paywall if you want to play for more than five minutes a day. This is really disappointing as I think the gameplay/hunting is pretty enjoyable and overall the concept has a lot of promise. If they listen to player feedback and make some big changes I think it could actually be a lot of fun.

Was hopeful……. I was hopeful for this game to be amazing, it’s rather more lackluster then what I expected……I still have no clue why they don’t implement a CHAT system in there games???? Just like Pokémon Go I can’t communicate with my friends??? When they send a raid request and I can’t make it in time I feel like I’m being rude by not explaining……wish I could at least have communication so I can set up a raid easier on Pokémon Go. But for here if I want to join or add a friend to a boss monster fight I CANT??????? Gees come on, are companies and developers TRYING to erase communication completely? The graphics are horrible and need updating, the lips? For your character are horrendous, why the heck you even make it like that even the eyes look like garbage like I’m a drugged yo down-syndrome person (no offense) but that’s how it looks…….the LACK of any boss monsters around me make it impossible to progress, and where are other weapons???? I’m not even a game developer and I could make this better, disappointing…….and I pre-registered for the game and I got NOTHING for it. Most games give something as they show appreciation……I’ll change to 5 star when I see better changes on here…..until then it’s 1 star because I know developers don’t care…..

Great concept but one major flaw. Hi, so I’ve been a long time Monster Hunter fan and have been playing since MH3U. This series has been a godsend for me and I’ve enjoyed constantly hunting spending months just beating up monsters with my friends and learning about them. I would love to give this game 5 stars. I really was excited about it…but it has a major flaw that the developers have confirmed they will not implement and that’s a massive online experience. Monster hunter has always at some point or another had ways for you to play with other hunters world wide and it has made it a huge success for Monster hunter fans to play with anyone else in the community but this game insists on being “local.” Now the community can’t just play with anyone now, it has to be within a 400 mile radius which is absolutely nothing. Really hope this game reconsiders not being worldwide. It would be absolutely perfect if it did. Especially if they insist on putting in monsters where it is expected of you to form a group within your 400 mile radius to defeat and cannot be done solo.

Pretty fun. This game is different enough from the other niantic games that it doesn’t feel just like a clone. It helps that the monsters and resources spawn randomly around the map, so you can play anywhere. There are some improvements that could be made. One of the biggest things that bothers me is how easy it is to lose a paintballed monster. To me, if you are spending money to mark that monster for later it should not disappear if you have connection issues during the hunt. Like Pokémon go, there are ways to get all in game items outside of spending money, but the game is not very clear on what those ways are, you’ll just end up with all these items you have no idea how you got. Last, I think the game could benefit from some sort of component analogous to Pokémon gyms. Not a direct clone, maybe not even the same concept, but just something that’s tied to a real location that gives you a reason to go on adventures. The monsters and resources are really helpful to have easy access to but I want something a little more substantial to go hunt down.

Extremely fun, few minor hiccups.. I am around HR 70 and have been playing since release day and have also played and completed every MH game since it’s inception. While I have thoroughly enjoyed this game and everything it has offered I have 2 glaring issues with it. Positives first, all of the monsters are fantastic additions and I love how fluid they are majority of the time. I love the weapons, and especially the new additions with a recent update with the DB and Lance. I love the armor sets and being able to mix and match them to your liking of your specific weapon of choice to enhance its abilities. The theme music I enjoy and have always let it play when launching it. All of the settings and options to hunt at your comfort and your phone’s abilities. The only 2 negatives I have are the shop and the circle around you to find various monsters in your vicinity. I think the shop is very pricey for what you receive and impact the gameplay a lot more than I’d like and I also feel the circle is a little smaller than it needs to be, even if it’s expanded slightly. I would like the addition of weapon tutorials, and learning how to use your weapon to your fullest potential. Thank you if you read this review and I look forward to further updates and what amazing things this team has brought to this game. Happy Hunting!

Excellent. This game is fantastic. Love playing it and getting to hunt all my favorite monsters and improve on the ones I always struggled with. That being said there is one major error that hurts this game. Whenever you have a network error, whether it’s the servers or you hit a bad bit of service it can end your fight, canceling all your progress while taking away your health. If you are fighting a paintballed monster this is worse because the monster disappears from you list and you lose it for good. When you are farming specific material and have been paintballing specific monster this can set you back as well as waste precious time to kill higher tier monsters your Palico may have marked for you. A simple fix would be allowing paintballed monsters to be challenged as many times as needed before the time runs out, but I don’t know if that would mess with Capcom and Niantics vision for this game. Other than that this game feels incredible. The monster fighting means it’s much more engaging that Pokémon Go and other Niantic games. I appreciate the work they put in to bring us such an incredible game.

Decent but buggy. So, I do enjoy this game. There’s a couple pacing issues, as others have pointed out, but I view it as just me needing more work. Which is just like every other Monster Hunter game, honestly. We’ve all had that “I just need this one part to upgrade my weapon” in every other MH game, this is just more blatant about it. However, my problems stem from the poor connection issues. I can be out in the open, with all 4 bars for my data, or even all bars for Wi-Fi, and I’ll just get that “Poor Connection” line, have all of my damage done for the past 5 seconds deleted, have my time keep ticking down, and be unable to do anything. Then, my connection comes back, the monster I’m hunting will instantly attack, and there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s infuriating! Especially when it happens multiple times in one hunt. I could be fighting a 2-star Kulu Ya-Ku, which I can kill in 10 seconds and get an A on my speed, but the connection issues will mean that it takes me a full minute to kill it and I get a C. Either fix the connection issues so it stops happening, or pause the timer while the connection issues are happening.

Needs work, but fun. I have love the monster hunter franchise since PS2. This game is a great addition to the series but needs some work. The graphics, controls, and gameplay is excellent, but the power scaling is unrealistic for most people. The item crafting system that the MH series is know for is completely lacking other than weapons and armor. I’ve reached HR33 now and progress has come to a complete halt. 5* monsters are near unbeatable with over rank 3 gear and the upgrades for that gear come from 4* and 5* monsters that rarely drop what you need and are even more rare to find on a regular basis. There is also no type of reward for increasing your hunter rank other than some paintballs and potions every 10 levels. Lastly, there was just an event to fight random Diablos monsters, this would of been a great chance to have new players fight a weakened version of the creature but the devs thought that only spawning unbeatable 5* would be awesome for player morale. No one in my area was able to beat one, even teaming up. I really had high hopes for this game, but it’s falling pretty flat for me after 2 weeks of play.

I absolutely love this game. If you want the full MH experience while being portable like some people reviewing do, go play the Switch game that came out. If you want a fun MH game that does really well despite being limited to phones, then this is the game for you. The tutorial is nice and doesn’t take hours, they even spawn the mission monsters where you are unlike The Witcher mobile which made you really move for them. The combat isn’t super deep which kinda stinks but doesn’t take away from the experience; just attack, dodge(maybe get a perfect dodge), and the occasional blocks. My favorite part I will say is the paintballs to fight monsters later and the fact that our little buddy can use their own paintballs while offline! The only gripe I have with this game is being a passenger :( It completely locks your gameplay when going above a certain speed, which is great don’t get me wrong but they proceed to make the “I am a passenger” button completely useless.

Good so far. Good so far but definitely has some areas that could be improved and added to. Im going to add some suggestions to improve the game. 1) please organize equipment better. Separate owned equipment from others this would make it easier to see what equipment we can upgrade. 2) improve party benefits. There currently isnt any incentive to use the party function. Its more beneficial to play individually with friends rather than join a party because separately we can encounter more monsters and get more loot. All party does right not is sync monsters in the field. Doesnt even make joining battles more convenient. 3) it would be great to add monster hunter story featured like eggs and genetics. I think these functions would just add more to do and allow for more interaction. Otherwise once someone who cant go walking about at the moment fights the monsters in the area there really isn’t anything else to do but leave the game and check back later. You could also find a way to encourage more walking and going outside with these features. Like hatch times that get shortened when walking. Rather than having monsters as mounts there could be a mini lead monster pet that picks up stones/ plants/ bones/etc outside your interaction ring by a certain distance or give you elemental buffs or other buffs for fighting monsters. You could add nests and other raid functions to make the game even more interactive.

A Really Good Game, But One Issue…. This game is really good! It’s essentially just Pokémon Go, but there’s monsters instead. I love the gameplay of it! The one thing that’s annoying me is the gameplay restriction. Essentially, when you go up to a certain speed (I.e Driving), it locks up your gameplay and it won’t unlock until you get the speed down. I understand that it’s supposed to prevent people who are actually driving from playing the game (Some people are actually idiots who does that), but it’s really annoying and frustrating for players who are actually in the passenger seat playing the game. There is a menu that pops up that has a button with, “I’m not the driver” written on it. Even though I press it (because I’m not driving while playing it), it doesn’t do anything. It still locks your gameplay. I understand the reason and purpose for this, but I wish that it could be removed. Or at least fix it to where it won’t lock your gameplay when you tell the app that you’re not the driver. If it does get fixed in the future, I would be more than happen to change my review because as I said before; it’s a really, really good game and I’m having a blast playing it! I know the game was just released and it’s not gonna be perfect immediately. It’s just something to maybe consider for the future updates. 🥰🥰

Not a bad game but it could be wayyy better. The game has the potential to be good but honestly just lacks way too many of the mechanics or unique elements that the original games have. Some features i feel could be added is definitely a better crafting system where we can make potions and maybe even other things like strength or defense buffs. Other people have mentioned how there should be a sort of pokestop mechanic which i agree on, I walk a lot so it would be great help especially when i need some extra items. Some complaints i have is that the rng is this game straight up blows for being rank 43 some of my weapons are still on rank 3 just because the monsters I kill don’t give the drops I need or they just don’t drop enough. Another thing is that I barely got anything from climbing to the rank I am it i felt like each time i hit a new milestone they gave me a card saying congratulations with nothing else. Another thing i feel could be added is a sort of clan mechanic letting you see when people in your clan are online and inviting people to your hunt whenever you start it. Also Besides that I really like the perfect doge mechanic.

Love it but…. Though I am a huge fan of the MH series, I have enjoyed this game as well just a few recommendations i have to make the game more enjoyable; 1. Add free items to resource outposts such as potions and paintballs. Like pokemon GO the pokestops give items this would be a wonderful feature. 2. More content. Add more stuff to do than just “kill monster make equipment”. In other MH games they offered stuff such as upgrading facilities by collecting certain items. Why cant we have a “bug” or “plant” box that we can grow items in over time that can be upgraded, even if we get low amount of items back at first, it offers another option for content. 3. More cosmetic options, such as a “transmog” or “glamor” system. Let us wear different things or outfits than whats currently equipped. Other MH games offer outfits, i know you guys can do it based on your previous games. Though the content is somewhat enjoyable it gets boring after awhile. Even spending money isn’t going to make it more enjoyable. Offering more things in game would make me want to spend more money. Pokemon GO has way more options. I will keep an eye on this game and play it once in a great while. Hopefully you release more content. You have alot of potential for this game. I will increase rating when and if more content is available.

Awesome game, too heavily monetized. First off, really love this game and it’s an easy 5/5 for me. It’s actually got me to get out and walk around my neighborhood, unlike PokeGO. The combat is nice and I like the combos and moves you can use. It’s very engaging, requiring you to dodge and pick your windows to attack. Now on to why I’m giving it 3 stars instead of 5. The biggest reason is the amount of insane monetization. $1 USD for 1 paintball that just tags a monster so you can fight it later. That’s ridiculous to me, and other health potions and buffs all cost money. And while you do get 5 free first aids a day and you’re palico gets 3 free paintballs, I just don’t think that’s enough. Plus you have to always allow precise tracking to allow the palico to tag things when you’re out. And one last gripe is that if you’re in a car or related, there is almost no point of playing unless you have a monster tagged. You can’t collect from nodes and everything on the map despawns and it takes some time for you to be at a complete stop before it comes back. I understand it’s for safety but man.

Timer too short. Should increase the timer to 3mins, a lot of people got frustrated with the whole timer even existed.

High speed restrictions grrrr. Great game. Really! The thing that irritates me is that even if you tick “I am not a driver” when it detects high speeds, you still can’t hunt or gather materials. You can’t play if you’re not walking. It’s useless on the bus or train

Good game. You should add a thing that tells you who did the most damage in the battle

Plays decently, but doomed to fail.. I’m only an hour or two in but there appears to be no evidence of pvp, a ranking leaderboard, or any resemblance of a ‘player flex’ system. If so, you completely missed the F2P model. Without these, nobody feels a drastic desire to speed up their progess to compete against their peers. Meaning, you haven’t monetized the game… Either tell me isn’t so, or… fire the entire roster of executives working on this game for (apparently) 4 years who missed the most important part. They deserve to work in retail.

Buggy. I understand that this game was just released but I cannot even load into the game properly, after being told to grab the sword, no monsters show up and I’m stuck looking at the map, I waited extensive times to no avail, please fix this.

Good. It’s really fun but when I kill all the monsters I have to wait like twenty minutes and can u please fix it like add the monsters every 30 seconds pls

Prime Hunters Pass is 30 days for EVERYTHING. Just a heads up to those that want to pay and support the game. The Prime Hunters pass is laid out such that it seems that only the gems are a 30 days item but All of it only lasts for 30 days.

Very addicting but... But hopefully the monster and supplies can reborn faster, wait for too long 😂

Boring. I can’t believe they abandoned Catan World Explorers but this game was brought to market. So boring, just tapping to kill monsters. Catan at least had people who were not interested in the original franchise interested. I feel like this game is only for those who are already interested in this franchise.

Good hunting, need more time. The gameplay is fantastic bringing the monsters and the game mechanics from World and bringing it into a AR experience on your mobile, I just wish we had more time with each large monster hunt. 3 minutes would be fine and perfect for a average hunt but having something so less then minute and a half just felt like you’re defusing 4 bombs while under enemy fire, maybe in the update there would be a timer increase to fit the feeling and the enjoyment of Monster Hunter and what MH Brings Still a good game though

Quality opening. Wow, the graphics are slick and the multiplayer cooperative team play is great. There are a few little things they could improve with the various user interfaces but by and large this is an exceptionally good opening for a new AR game.

Great game. Great game and one that will surely occupy me for a long time as did the first Monster Hunter I played Monster Hunter Portable 2G The only gripe I have is the price of the items and that we do t have the ability to mix ingredients for paintballs

Great job. Fun entry level into Monster Hunter series Challenging game play but valuable repeatability Looking forward to seeing the MHR999 crew in years to come

This is great. I really enjoy playing this with the battles against monsters to be rewarded with better gear and having you and your feline collecting materials giving a really nice. Only issue is the speed limit system, it’s not bad as it forces players to walk around but when you get the “I am not driving” warning you are locked out from doing anything. Kind of want a better system.

Love the game but needs improving. It’s definitely getting me out and about and enjoying going on walks with friends. Potions should heal you to 100% especially when you only get 5 free a day and have to pay to buy more. Drop rates are extremely low. Killing high star monsters only to get 4-6 rarity 1 mats most of the time is like a slap in the face. Finding the timer you have to kill the monsters is too short at higher levels especially when grouping with friends. Game sometimes freezes during fights but the timer still ticks down can get annoying as well.

Nice!. I have been waiting for this game for so long. The monster distribution still very little and a bit odd here and there. Hope it will be improved for better and easier farming and exploring.

More free potions. Can you give ten free potions instead of five And can you make a way to craft potions please It would make it a great game and bring in more people

Having fun. Love the game, loads of fun yiu can even play by yourself. However it would be nice to have the other weapon from the series in there. Also having to wait for hp with no other ways of getting hp back other than using potions that you can purchase from the store(or you get for free with your daily gain) seems odd to me. I would like to see a craftable potion from ollectibg resource from points along your travels.

Add import album function. please add an import album function in barcode scan, it really inconvenience when you try to join a party or adds friend without this function

A bit grindy but overall great. The game gets quite grindy at the end game but overall scratches the MH itch for me while waiting for the next MH main series instalment

Needs some work. Currently HR 40, game is still kinda fun but feels like a chore doing dailies, monsters get boring real quick and there’s no end game to work towards so you lose interest very quickly, fun to play for a couple weeks and walk around but that’s it.

Amazing. This game is perfect for those who are fans of previous monster hunter games, or for those who are just looking to have a fun mobile game to play. Gameplay is perfect and the verity of customisation, weapons and armour give the game a fresh feel.

So good. Enjoying this so much love plus I’m guna get so fit from all this playing hahhaaahh

Needs improvement. Very annoying to play while travelling. Also the drop rate to level up gear is reticules.. it’s not even about the grind. It’s almost non existent! As the spawn rates are few and fare between. Game needs to be adjusted if they want to maintain players!

Great game but needs work. Gameplay is great firstly. Gear progression walls is frustrating at times and connection issues while out and about. Wish there was a way to farm monsters more efficiently, and that solo hunters are just as efficient as group. Not being able to hunt below 30hp - why? Just to MTX from the store for potions? Throughout the franchise I’ve bested fights well below 30% health. Let our palicos do more than just collect whilst walking. Use palico safari from the main games or something similar? Tier set bonuses would be good, and optional quests / consumables crafting eg demonpowder etc.

Great game now but... The decision to tie progress gating equipment to important key locations is going to hurt a lot of people. I live in an area where there is 2 of these main nodes within walking distance and only one of those can give equipment with only a slither of a chance to get the materials I need. This is going to hurt a lot of rural players.

Good needs a lot of work ASAP. Good so far but needs a tonne of work, wrote a review before but monsters need to update their skills evade windows and timing. Legiana is a big issue, quick charge attacks with no warning and does a quick bite that’s needs to be extended. The tail ice spin whip needs to have a far bigger evade extension as it’s reduce by around 20% than normal and like I’ve said before rewards need to be a little more guarneteed when breaking parts as the game doesn’t offer much in the way of consistent rare drops. Please fix these issues ASAP!

Pretty good but some things. I enjoy the spins on Pokémon go and I really liked the extra things in this game. But I have some but picks. It’s a little annoying when I’m being driven around and the game doesn’t let me play, especially since I get games like this to play in the car. What rubs it in however, is that a message pops up saying something like confirm you aren’t driving, which makes me think if I click it I can play. Since I can’t play in the car and I don’t walk around much other than with my dog where I like to keep an eye on her, I play while sitting down which means that I don’t really get to do many battles which is the point of the game. Could you also make the timer for fights 3 minutes, I’ve had loads of encounters where I haven’t been hit and the monster has just gotten away. These could just be specific to me though, and the rest of the game is really good. Good job I’m writing this section after playing it longer After a couple weeks the issue of the timeframe has become much more prevalent. So many time I have been doing great but the timers ran out, and then on my next attempt I die. It’s very frustrating. A way to fix this would be to make the med kits easier to get, and then the cap on the fight would be only 3 or 5 med kits instead of a certain amount of time. This still adds a barrier to low level players, but the way it does so is less frustrating. Please make these changes

Resources. Loving the game but the resources centres like bone piles seem very few and far between in my area, and I’m struggling to pull any of the rare ores like Dragonite

Group hunts issues. The overall experience is great, potions and drop rates apart, is a grinding game so fine whatever (maybe just speed up the recovery until 30hp keeping the necessary time to max it out the same) what is missing is the actual opportunity to connect with other hunters. Some events are incredibly social, like hunt-a-ton, but definitely impossible if done alone with a normal gear. I am lv 58, 3rd run on the story (kulu 2 stars unbeatable for my dps) and still can’t manage to get the zinogre in solo. I have a more than decent legiana sword and ice build, but hp of that thing are insanely high for solo play. Not having hunters around makes it frustrating, what is needed is a way to connect hunters from distance. Add an arena with daily bosses that can be challenged with a groupfinder. Minimum level, equip required, or private parties. The social part is totally missing if you don’t have buddies around.

good but still. If you are the type who enjoy staying at home , probably just don’t play it .. can’t farm at all

WELL DONE. This is what monster hunter is about. As well as a mobile game could do this is it. Each weapon is it’s own, good graphics but not what is all about. After playing almost all MH games I’m happy to say this fits the family. WELL DONE!

Monetisation to the max. Spend about 400$ on this game, time spend to build armour and weapon but getting nerfed in the end, rip off, couldn’t get refunds on purchases made from 90 days ago, bad investment into a game that doesn’t uphold game value and disrespects to player’s time spend in it, Scammers? Or mocking our intelligent? Review readers you decides

Addictive fun. This game has me out walking 10km a day. Finally a motivation to move!

Amazing Game! Could be improved.. This game is phenomenal! It’s very faithful to the source material. Though It can definitely be improved. I think you should implement a function like in Jurassic World: Alive with the Scents where the monsters will come to you. There are sometimes where I’m not able to go outside so it would be a very useful function! Thanks for reading.

Abysmal drop rates. The game itself is alright, but the drops and grind are pretty bad. This is highly unmotivating. Also bad to play while having to get somewhere as high star monsters need quite some time and attention to slay.

Amazing game just one problem. Make it playable when going at fast speed, when I’m walking I can’t play I have to be sitting down which makes it harder to play the game, also even when I’m just sitting at home it often thinks I’m driving or walking to fast? So I can’t play the game at all

Game was fun but after new update can’t load up anymore. The game was fun it was developed and designed really well. Just unfortunately now I can’t open up the game after the new update I cleared cache and nothing fixed the issue just waiting for the new update to see if I can play again.

Cosmetics?. I am enjoying the game a lot. Maybe additional cosmetics is a nice touch for more variety in terms of looks.

It’s ok. Game is fine. It’s very much a Niantic game, however, if you are sitting in a car, even if you nominate yourself as a passenger, it doesn’t allow you to interact with anything on the map. This needs to be fixed asap.

Great game but!. Been enjoying this game, but some monsters dont drop what they need to drop! Like I have killed soo many tobi kadachi 6 stars and 7 stars but still never dropped the kobi kadachi electrode! So ive upgraded most my weapons except for ones that needs kobi kadachi! Definitely they need to check on this and also add more content its slowly getting boring.

question. Why aren't enemies showing up on the map?

Good Job!. I feel this one will be around for awhile, Monster hunter is huge in Japan and these games are way bigger over there. Pokémon go has set this up and Nintantic have upped their game literally on this game. Compared to the marvel one we got there is more understanding of the franchise, more care and overall a way nicer looking game. I hope this lasts as I’m enjoying slaying monsters and can’t wait to get my friends onto this! Pokémon go is fun but this has its own unique style that the marvel game was missing. I really feel like I’m in a AR Monster hunter game and I will be hunting for awhile to come :) would’ve been fun to see this sort of combat implemented in the marvel game, I haven’t gotten to use any other weapons I hoping you can craft more and there’s a good range of monsters, they’ll always add more like in Pokémon! Give this a shot really great design and gameplay :)

pls add firekeeper. 9/10 game pls replace the cat with fire keeper and replace all of the dinosaurs with dark souls 3 enemies and replace the entire map with the dark spuls 3 map and replace the potions with estus flasks and replace the bosses with dark souls 3 bosses and add bon fires and firelink shrine. If all these are added, this game would be 10/10

Some small things. I’m loving the game, quite fun from a franchise I love, however, just some very small things that would make this a 5/5 for me, some sort of monster stop like the poke stop on Pokémon go would be amazing, somewhere me and a group of friends could go and hunt for hours (like the guiding lands from mhw) and it seems like your circle rarely has much in it, you always have to go out to get things done, I do want to be able to relax from time to time at home and still play so more large monsters and resources appearing in your bubble more frequently would be great

Error. Not opening game only music play and background photo shown

Too many restrictions. Im the passenger in a car = not allowed to play Im in the train = not allow to play Im in the Tram = not allow to play Cheaters everywhere with there GPS Spoofer. This game designed to punish those who have little time to walk around and only if u r lucky enough to live in medium-high populated area.

Doesn’t load unless connected to wi-fi?!. Good game, however currently (for the past couple of updates) I have been unable to load the game unless connected to wi-fi. It just hangs on the loading screen. Kind of makes the game completely pointless and unplayable if I can’t leave the area of a wi-fi. Please fix this asap. I’m not the only one who has run into this either, as I have gone searching for solutions online.

So fun and has made me go outside for runs more. Played the monster hunters on console and they’ve done a good job porting it to phone. Can’t wait for new monsters and weapons. If the chargeblade or switchaxe gets in the game I will probably start living outside.

Great Game but one glaring issue. Everything is great except for the fact that even after i press “i am not a driver” it still lock me from doing anything inxthe game. please change this.

Rollback for weapons. There is no way to farm for materials which makes it hard to upgrade multiple weapons and armour. I think it would be smart to allow the player to rollback upgrades to save multiple days of looking for monsters for materials, same concept as the regular monster hunter games, downgrade weapons n get materials. Also a training area would be dope to test weapons

Been a Fan, Still a Fan. I love monster Hunter. I’ve been a fan since I got my first PSP and played Monster Hunter 2. Hope you guys enjoy this game as much as I am! Here’s my referral code so you get a free stuff: XVMPMTFH

This game will die soon [READ]. Rate drop rate are horrendously way below than usual MH games. Super low for a mobile game. I know that this has been a culture for the franchise but man, if you need this game to stay then you need to work on this! People will get bored as farming for rare items takes a while because of this super low drop rates! Shop items are just potions. Potions that are too expensive! I would understand if they're selling layered armors and stuff, but no! Just make the game fun and enjoyable! Imagine, people needs to be out there hunting for monsters. Risking safety going to places just to hunt but you'll not going to be rewarded and all you'll get are just pieces of junk! I know it requires patience but man, this is too much! I am already getting tired playing this so it's up to you all if time that you'll spend here is going to be worth it!

Amazing game but so much to work on.. The time limit in battle should be extended and the lack of potions is infuriating...

Game lags way too much. Game lags and you end up dying and wasting potions for no reason

Microtransactions. Until we’re able to buy pots and paintballs with the zenny we earn this is a massive stain on Monster Hunter

Mehh, time waster. Honestly, played for like two days… Being a MH player since Wii era, I don’t understand why anyone who actually enjoys MH would spend time on this… Boring combat… And the whole location based is just horrible, you have to walk around looking down at your phone… Plus sooo many GPS spoofers, like 2h after game release and dudes HR 40+ hahaha Don’t waste your time, buy MHW, maybe mod it a bit, and enjoy the real thing.

Mission rewards. If I cut off a tail I should get a tail as a reward

They got so many bug!. This game always kicks me out the game and I have lost so many chance for slaying high rank monster that I need.

DO NOT play any game by Niantic. Niantic ruins all great IP games! You have to pay super unfair prices to get very limited stuff in game. Total lost money if you pay anything in game. Very not comfortable in game control design, and you cannot change setting for anything make it better. There has no meaning to play this game other than wasting time and money!

Here my referral code CT24E3N6. Iet's play together add my referral code for some startup items CT24E3N6

the gathering points. i live in a small town, there used to be a fair number of gathering points aroubd my town but with the last major update they removed most of them, now if i want to collect supplys i would have to go to the local elementorty and highscools, i find that verry creepy

Awesome. Enjoying it so far. Less passive than pokemon GO though so keep that in mind. The paintballs allow you to tag hunts for later (which I take home to play later with my husband which I think is pretty cool).

Interesting Game, But Tough For Rural Areas. I was initially unable to start the tutorial due to my neighbourhood being too remote, and am still mostly unable to play the game nearby my home. The few hunts I did were fun however, and I might keep playing when I occasionally go to the big city again. I would very much enjoy a wider area for things to spawn around roads, etc, so that going to an urban area is a bonus not a requirement. Or having travel as mainly a way to change environments rather than needing to travel to find more resources.

What’s the point. You hit a wall where monsters are too strong to fight, yet the ones you can actually beat can’t drop the materials you need to upgrade.

Great Game. If you want some extra loot use the referral code 28JJR5F5. Happy hunting!

Quite miserable for solo players. The game seems to be balanced for party play rather than solo viability. This would be fine if not for the fact that outside of some select areas of Japan, players are rarely able to find other players to group up and hunt with. The recently introduced Hunt-a-thlon feature further exacerbates this issue, since all monsters in these fights have a fixed 1.7x health multiplier, which effectively gates a majority of the solo playerbase from ever being able to hunt these down, while greatly rewarding parties of 3-4 players, which would see a considerable reduction in these monsters' health pools.

Pas de son. J’aurais laisser à 5 étoiles mais j’ai pu de son dans le jeux et même une fois réinstaller je n’ai toujours pas de son

Money hungry poo holes. This game is legit made to try and get you to spend money every step of the way. Greedy company that wants money nothing else. Can’t beat a monster well spend money to grind faster is the motto here. 10 dollars to send 3 paintballs to friends is a joke.

Gets repetitive. Please add more loadouts

Unbalanced. The devs have absolutely zero experience about monster and equipment stats scaling. Apparently they didn’t learn anything from PokemonGo.

The new AR gold standard. Incredible graphics, very smooth play loop, and lots to do without sinisterly hijacking your brainstem. 10/10, great launch for Niantic and Capcom.

Do not play!. This game is impossible to play if you do not spend money. You will just freeze your hands off out in the cold and lose every fight at some point.

Time waster. The negative reviews keep getting deleted. I will post again: This game is definitely a time waster, it’s driven by the greedy company simply wants you to pay for everything. You cannot play at home because the monsters spawn every 3hrs and usually when you wake up in the morning, your palico got nothing for you; then during the daytime, if you are sitting on a bus you are not allowed to play, the only way to play is to go outside on foot, what a great idea for enjoying your Canadian winter time! Not to mention even you go outside hunting and collecting, 99% of time you got rare 1 or 2 items. Players has to pay so much $$ and physical effort to play a game like this, it’s 100% insane. I’d rather sitting in my couch and playing MHW or MH rise, for the real fun.

Why can’t you play it in a car???. Seriously why???

Extend the time limit. Extend the time limit

I wonder if the devs play the game themselves. Probs not, and that’s why they don’t see the problems. Potions can only be purchased with real money, hunt-a-thon monsters have 1.7x more hp than those at the same star level, yet timer stays the same. Drop rate is ridiculous too

Remove the timer and let us craft potion. Scummy company being cringe 😅😅😅

Its fun. But please let me collect items while on the bus or as a passenger in a vehicle. Also, there needs to be a way to craft more potions instead of forcing you to pay for them or waiting for the 5 you get daily.

Broken. The game can't handle walking by a known wifi network, you will immediately disconnect and lose any items and the hunt you're in.

pay to hunt. you have to be rich in order to pay, then you can play.

W game. Need I say more

Could have been good. Great game play and extremely solid core game, destroyed by its monetization model and handling of events. Not worth grinding to end game. Just play pokemon GO instead

Resources. Might as well delete this game. Refusal to award materials like primscales will lock you behind a wall forever. Must be something wrong no matter how many battles you chase the game refuses to give you primescales for girros

This game brings shame to the franchise. It's like a bad version of pokomon go. God won't forgive the creator of this game.

Do not play. Game itself is a solid foundation but Niantic has made just about every awful decision possible with this game, if you want to play a monster hunter game just wait until monster hunter wilds comes out

Always thinks I’m driving. “Due to high movement speed gameplay has been reduced.” It’s a great game but this bug is so annoying. I’ll change my review once it’s fixed!

Can no longer log into my account. Since the update I can no longer access my account. Everything is reset, I’m mad becauseI actually enjoyed the game and played it daily.

The event is so lame and no monsters show in my area. I really enjoyed the previous MH. This game is not great at all. Have been 2 events, neither are player friendly. Either the monsters hP is too high or no monsters showing at all. So what’s the point for having a event without letting everyone participate?

Greedy af. Other games would lure you to pay, this one would PUA you to pay, the drop rates and all kinds of “thanking packs” will help you to stay away from all the micro trancactions they offered.

It’s winter doesn’t make sense to push huntathon. Sorry but it’s winter your game doesn’t work well in winter since your adamant we have to be at the huntathon location, so yeah there no incentive to play right now and a lot less reason to spend, i guess we’ll see you after winter !

Great game if you’re a MH Fan!. This game kept all the nice things about MH and put it into a location based RPG. Amazing! Use code 8XKP6X4J for some bonus items!

Add craftable potions!. This game is near perfect. The only problem I have run into is when you get up into 4-5 star monsters and you get punished. Losing over 50 health when hit is brutal because I have to use a lot of potions to survive and there are very limited amount of potions you can have without paying. 5 potions day is pathetic without being able to craft them. There needs to be a craft feature because I don’t want to wait 20 minutes or drain my potions before being able to fight another monster. No one has that amount of time if they want to progress somewhat fast. For me, I know the move sets pretty well since I have experienced playing these games before so I don’t lose much health, but my friends are brand new and get hit a lot. This limits the time I can play with them because they are out of potions and have no health. This feature is in all of the other games and needs to be added to this game to make it 5 star.

definitely try. I do agree with other people that the monsters are in a little bit on the easier said especially if you played past monster hunters at the same time it’s supposed to be a Pokémon go like so I understand why they would want you to kind of finish them quickly that said there is room to improve monster combat either by having them do a little bit more damage or more moves but definitely a great game. I’m also wondering how much months are variety there is because I just got past the prologue and Hunter the greater great Jaggeris (how ever you spell it) I’d love to see some old school monsters that we haven’t seen in the main line of games for a while you guys could even do water monsters, which would be really cool

Shamelessly pay to win. I’ve been enjoying the game and I could go on to praise how well it adapted most of MH’s mechanics to such a different platform, but honestly none of that matters because the game goes out of its way to stop me from playing it. I’m honestly shocked by how heavy handed the micro transactions are in this game. Crafting resources is a core part of of the franchise, so why on earth can’t I craft my own potions?? Instead I need to rely completely on daily drops… which cap at 10, so you can’t simply pile them up either. Paintballs are even worse, you have no way whatsoever of getting them outside of the occasional campaign quest reward. This makes hunting monsters excessively punishing because the slightest mistake may result in your health at completely depleted, which happens a LOT, and then you’re forced to wait for your health bar to restore over time. By then the monster is gone. Things like this absolutely ruin the game for me and make it next to unplayable. It’s less of a game and more of a money spending simulator.

Good content, but unplayable when moving.. Still chock full of micro transactions to keep gameplay at a snail's pace (healing potions, paintballs, etc), which was not a surprise. What was a surprise, is how the map goes completely blank and the game is entirely unplayable if you're a passenger in a moving car. There is a prompt and you can select that you're a passenger, but it doesn't change to allow you to do or see anything. At least in PoGo you could see where stops or raids are and *drive to them*, but we can't even see habitats, much less where monsters are. Poor game design choice if you're encouraging your players to be mobile. This was especially frustrating for the (first?) event with Diablos spawning for only three hours in only one habitat. I hope for more from this game as time progresses, but as of now, solid three stars for overall content and what's this?? You can actually customize your character?? About time. Now add that feature to PoGo, Niantic.

Needs improvement. I downloaded this game about a week ago. Overall, the game isn’t terrible, but it isn’t great either. Struggling to even say that it is good as it does have some serious problems that need fixing. For starters, it does have a bumpy start and the circle needs to be bigger. If you are going to make a game where you can’t play it if you are in a vehicle or walking (literally on the loading screen before you play) then you need to increase the effective range of interaction in the game. There are even spots for materials in places that you could never access without the use of a car so that doesn’t make sense. Even in your other game Pokemon Go, you can still play while in a vehicle. The GPS is glitchy as it will say that I am moving too fast or that I am driving when I am sitting in my home. So it also makes the game unusable even when you are doing what it says you are supposed to do. Basically, the game is almost unplayable. This heavily takes away from the games value. Pricing is very sketchy as items are way too overpriced. Especially for the lack of variety in the items. I understand that Niantic wanted to achieve another “Pokemon Go” but cutting off the stuff that made that game great doesn’t help. The game is already limited in the monsters you can fight and material gathering is so much of a chore because of it. It would be bearable if the GPS would work properly.

Drop those whetstones, it’s not worth the grind.. First off, the gameplay is fun. All the monsters behavior, attacks, and movements are pretty spot on. Same goes for the hunters and weapons. The skeleton of Monster Hunter is in this game. Unfortunately some important pieces are missing. Everything was going great at first. You’ll say the same things. “Well purchases are completely unnecessary, I just killed my first Rathian and I’ve not been tempted to buy gems to double my rewards!” That’s the critical point in this games progress. Once you get here the drop rates for high rarity parts go into single percentage points. I couldn’t upgrade or build any armor further than rarity 4 or 5 in over a week. That was at around 10 to 15 large monster kills a day. Sure the game just came out and all but I personally wasn’t having fun anymore. I’d rather play world or rise than grind out 12 Rathians in this game and still not be able to craft a single piece of armor or a single weapon. More power to all you hunters enjoying this one but as I stated I really don’t think it’s worth the grind!

Game is completely unbalanced. I'm not one for complaining about difficulty levels in video games, but this is beyond the pale. At 4 stars and above the monsters attack too frequently and MOST annoyingly they roar incessantly. I can deal with the frequent attacks, that's fine, but the roars are absolutely the worst game design decision in recent memory. How can you put unavoidable stuns AND a very small time limit? I have had countless hunts that ended with the monster fleeing because I couldn't get it to stand still long enough to take damage. Then right before I am about to finish it, it roars and the last 8 seconds of the hunt are completely wasted. It's actually infuriating. At least in the real game you can craft potions and rehunt the same monster without issue, but you simply can't in this version. The monster disappears from the map and good luck with your RNG on another one spawning anywhere in the city!! Then comes the drop rates. Again, in the real game you can simply hunt the same monster repeatedly. But in THIS game you first have to find the monster and hope it spawns anywhere near you, then kill it (good luck with the time limit and roars), THEN you have to get the actual material to drop. I have killed at least 20 Anjanaths breaking the face every time and not a single nosebone has dropped. Now I haven't SEEN an Anjanath in 2 days! Don't waste your time or your money, it will only lead to frustration.

Niantic is out of touch with its players.. Monster Hunter Now is just another example of a game made by developers who don’t play their own games in a realistic area. First of all don’t plan on playing this with people because they once again made a game with such heavy restrictions on playing with people across the globe or even the neighborhood you’ll most likely be playing alone entirely. I even live in a relatively popular area for games like Pokémon GO, where for example there were 100 or so people playing Pokémon while there were only 2 playing monster hunter (I was playing both). Now keep in mind this weekend is also monster hunters first event so you would expect some turn out but nope, 2 people, and even those 2 people couldn’t do anything together unless they were within mere meters of each other. This game is a grind fest with terrible microtransactions. Just avoid this game and it’ll die like the rest of Niantics games that aren’t carried by Pokémon. Just do better, you continuously make terrible games using incredibly popular IP but still can’t make it work, it’s time to stop giving Niantic these franchises because they can’t do it.

A game with potential. I’ve been a huge fan of the most recent monster hunter games for the past couple of years and was greatly excited to have a mobile way to scratch that hunting itch, but sadly the game loop seems to be the problem for me. Instead of carefully playing around monsters move-sets and the feeling of being a hunter to get the materials to advance, it’s turned into a game of hoping you have just enough damage to finish the monster in the short time you’re given, just to hope the random drops you get is the loot you need to do other hunts faster. The loot drops are not so much a problem in older MH games since you could choose to hunt the monsters you need and grind the resources required, but with the random spawning of monsters it becomes difficult to advance since you’re not able to focus down a weapon’s/armor’s upgrade tree efficiently. I’m hoping they give more time to the hunt and possibly add a hunting board, something where certain monsters can be hunted multiple times and they rotate everyday.

Upgrading Armor. The overall gameplay mechanic is pretty fun, I find myself glued to this game vs the main title games. Few gripes I have is that monster part drop rates are insanely hard to get. I’ve come to a point where I haven’t progressed for days just because I can’t upgrade my weapon to beat 5 star monsters. Also you can’t fight multiple monsters if you lose all your potions, the only way to obtain those are either claiming your daily 5 first med, or buying them with real money. It would be awesome if we could obtain more by either crafting or creating a gathering area that has potions, maybe add a chest in camps like in the main games. Another complaint is not being able to play monster hunter as a car passenger. Realistically not many people will be walking everywhere, so enabling passenger gameplay will help that out.

Game Play Issues. Love the game, major fan of Monster Hunter. However, the spawning of monsters is not the best, as one must travel huge distances just to find any large monster, and huge distances to find the right one. If you are a passenger in a car you can’t even play. The rewards should be greater as you need parts to create sufficient weapons and armor. Pricing s ridiculous! I have tried every weapon to fight the Rathian, all are over 200 in attack, but the Rathaus is over powered! My defense is 240, but she nearly one shots me. I can’t cover distance walking fast enough to find enough Tobi-Kadachi to make a stronge enough thunder weapon, but you can’t do anything as a passenger. Dragon element is not available. My poison great sword does no poison effect, but my attack is over 260. Still can not take her down. Items to heal when shouldn’t cost a king’s ransom. In the real game you can collect herbs to heal. In this game with awesome potential, you are just plain out of luck if you take damage. Additionally, and lastly, if monsters are going to be that difficult to heal when you can’t get help for your urgent, or any difficult monster, then perhaps Niantic could increase the time for such difficult monsters.

Solid Game, needs some improvement. Overall I’m very satisfied with this game. I believe the difficulty ramps up too fast considering you only get 5 free potions a day with no way to craft or obtain more without spending a huge amount of money, fixing this issue by itself would significantly increase the morale to keep playing. The materials required for upgrade versus their drop rate at 4-5 stars is very difficult to obtain and makes me not want to keep grinding it out, especially since to upgrade a weapon beyond purple and even through the purple ranks it requires 2-4 purple materials which have an excessively low drop rate. 5 star monsters are virtually unable to be beaten reliably at hr 42. Apart from those minor problems overall I’m super happy with this game.

Good for nostalgia but very difficult to progress. As a fan of the monster hunter series I thought it was a great game to just play on the go but in order to progress you have to grind very and I mean very heavily. This obviously doesn’t have the same fan base that Pokémon would so you would think it would rely on you find other players to take out nests to better grind for parts. I sadly had to play solo and depending on being active and grind while driving to get the most out of it. Took about two weeks but finish the story mode and I can say with all the grinding you can get 1 weapon to grade 6 to be able to make it to the end so choose wisely other wise you will have to put real money into this to get anywhere. By the time you make it past the story and reset it and try to max out other things you will be met with zen issue. You can’t make enough of it to upgrade anything else so your inventory fills up and forced to buy upgrades. I would only recommend to buy this game if you want to randomly swing away at a monster. Also key note not all of them are here I’m sure some come during events. Avoid this game if you don’t like grinding because it is worse then dust in Pokémon. Things that should be added: Selling of items More monster spawns since you will have a lot more solo players Lower the cost of upgrading gear or weapons Add a training dummy so people can learn the weapons abilities. Have palico fight since we are solo anyway

Thoughts. Honestly I’d still give it a 5 star because it’s a good game been playing monster hunter since freedom unite of course niantic being penny pinchers couldn’t even match their Pokémon go prices the shops really not worth it it’s supposed to be a game that you grind in I mean maybe it be worth it if you were able to play with other hunters from a distance, been trying to invite my cousin who lives across town hoping we could hunt a few monsters together maybe then in groups the shop would be worth it besides being overpriced so far I’ve played two days already Hr 24 wondering what’s the limit and how many monsters does this app have in store looking forward to what the updates would look like and if niantic will understand the good community base this game can attract.

Don’t waste your time!. If you think Pokemon go is bad, this game is worse! This game started out really fun and easy to play at lower levels. However, once to progress through the story and get to about 5 star monsters it becomes a real grind. The monsters health and attacks are ramped up. It’s pretty much a one shot if you get hit. You are only given 5 potions a day, and you are forced to use one if you are under 30% health. So you can’t even save them up if you decide to fight lower level monsters until your health builds up. Don’t worry though, Niantic sells extra potions in the shop. Just be ready to get your wallet out. The item drop rate is terrible! You can’t build up your weapons strong enough for higher lvl monsters because they never drop what you need. So even when you finally find the monster you are looking for, 80% of the time they drop tier 1-2 items. In the event that they do drop what you need, Niantic made sure to add a little button to double the items… but it will cost you more of your hard earned money.

Awesome Game! But…... This game is awesome. It’s a great way to pass time and is a lot simpler compared to the actual games. I haven’t had any issues so far, haven’t experienced any glitches but I do have some feedback. If you don’t invest any money into the game you can’t buy anything from the shop. I’m already lvl 37 and I’ve only used the shop twice with some of the credits I’ve earned in game but the fact that you have to drop major cash to buy anything is kind of ridiculous. They need to add some type of crafting factor or trade system to the game to be able to buy potions and stuff. Just 5 healing potions is $1.99. I mean yea you get them daily but there should be an alternative to spending money. Other then that the game is great. Graphics are 10/10, the fighting is fun, monster look awesome and the weapons/armor take some grinding which is fun. Hopefully this game doesn’t flop because I look forward to some more content!

Fun but So Buggy. It’s a fun game, but I’ve lost over a dozen fights within the last two weeks with the monster 1-2 hits away from defeat because it starts saying “network connectivity issue” and times out. Every time I’ve had full strength on my cell phone signal or on WiFi. Each time it also still consumes any potions I used in the battle and just counts it as a defeat. With their bugs still consuming all of your used, paid for consumables even though the game is timing out, it feels like a cheap, sneaky way of forcing you to buy more while getting effectively nothing for your money. A more player-friendly solution would be to at least refund any consumed items (especially the paid for ones, even if not the daily free supply) if the game glitches and failed a hunt due to network connectivity. Don’t spend any money on this game unless you’re okay with it being wasted away due to their bugs.

Fun through the efforts of other companies. The gameplay is, as you’d expect for being lifted from Capcom’s Monster Hunter, fun. However the balancing and design choices made by Niantic are inexplicable and awful. The only good things I have to say about this game are the things that can’t be said about what makes this game unique. What’s the point of hunting monsters to progress if I can’t progress? Why do I get all rarity 1 drops from 6 star monsters SO OFTEN? Why can’t I find stronger monsters more often? I haven’t been able to upgrade my gear in weeks, and I don’t even think I’m that far into the game—you can’t even play it properly outside. Barioth’s time wasting tactics in hunts that last 1:20 is unforgivable. Not being able to craft potions is nonsense. It’s an endless heap of frustration on soemthing that, by all accounts should be good, but is clearly ruined by greed and life-consuming time-wasting nonsense. If you want to play this, just go play actual monster hunter games. Any of them.

Great game on paper but…. As a primarily solo player, the timer is just too low as the monster rankings progress. I’m literally stuck at the Rathian story fight because I can’t beat the timer. My damage output is fine, but because of having to dodge for a good 1/3 of the fight, I’m having to waist potential damage just to avoid a long string of heavy hits. I know that’s hot the OG MonHun games work, but at least the timers in those games aren’t “75 seconds only, pray you don’t get chained in loop of attacks that waist your attack time.” Heck, just a 10 second boost to solo hunts would be nice. Also as others have mentioned, please PLEASE add more free items to the game, like how Pokémon Go does it. Being limited to only 5 free med kits a day isn’t enough for people once monsters star tripling the damage output. And fix the spawn rates. I’m desperately looking for Tobi Kadachi for armor upgrades but their spawn rates, even during their increased spawn times, are atrocious.

Amazing GO-esc game, but I have some suggestions. As a fan of the series, this is a really great way to incorporate some of the mechanics into a Pokemon Go-esc mobile game. The combat is fun but still challenging, making the loop very enjoyable, almost as much as the base games. Though I have some suggestions that would probably help the game 1. There should be another system for gathering items. With how rare many basic materials are, it is hard to ever craft higher level stuff, and the special quests have a very low chance of giving any good items for completion. Having to rely on luck to get certain materials really makes crafting a hassle. Maybe there should be special items like sprouts, bug eggs, and something for stones that work like eggs in pokemon go, where the rarer the item is, the longer it will take to open. It can have like 2-5 of these items when they finally open. 2. This is kind of just a little nitpick, but I would love to have the rest of the weapons. I hope there will be more in the future at least. The weapons already present are fun to use, but it would be fun to see the insect glaive or the lance get their chance to shine. Overall, I’m having a great time and I’m excited for what changes come next for this game

Surprised at the 5 star rating. I like what they’ve done but this game is crazy greedy. Very few level up rewards, no health reset on level, the “celebration packs” are pricey and crystals get you nothing but potions etc, you can’t get health potions from nodes. When new games drop they are usually more generous and work up to being trying to eat your wallet. I can only imagine what a nightmare of greed this will become. The game play, if you’ve played Pokémon go the nodes are where some poke stops were, not all of them some have been taken down, me living in a major metro area still has to go a bit far to gather. So I can’t imagine when you did to the rural population. Stop had the same problems POGO did with you standing still or walking and you get going to fast messages. I do have to say the game play is fun and works better than I would’ve expected. I am a monster hunter fan and I’m surprised you’ve added some good mechanics.

Money greedy game by niantic. Previous monster hunter titles by capcom, while they did have a few cosmetic dlc or full in game expansions, have came no where close to the level of money-grabbing predatory tactics that this game has. With the worst potion/health mechanic that forces you to pay 5$ to keep playing the game or quit for around an hour until you have enough health to fight anything, a horrible drop rates on some of the required material including just the material you’re supposed to be able to get by walking, and limited item space and ever single item in this takes up one spot. But its fine, if you DO manage to kill a monster without using all your potions for the day, and you DO get 1 of the items you need, and you DO have the room for it, you STILL need to get 2-4 more of that item which you can CONVENIENTLY pay 2$ to double your rewards… this has niantic greed written all over it, and you can see it in all their other games like ingress and pokemon Go. It only gets 2 stars because it can actually be played, albeit briefly, and has mildly good graphics.

Monster Hunter Cash Grab. I love monster hunter. I have thousands of hours across all the games I’ve played. That being said, this game is pretty fun. The weapons seem very simple at first, but they have some hidden mechanics. The tap responsiveness of this game is decent but there are several times it has either misread a gesture or just not picked it up at all. I dunno if this is a “me” issue but it can be kind of annoying. Most fights last about 45 seconds to a minute. Some last way less than that. So tell me why a paintball is worth one dollar? One dollar for less than a minute of gameplay is insane. I feel like they could be making just as much money putting the payments somewhere else. Because I play a decent amount and I never purchased the paintball packs because of the high price to gameplay ratio. Drop rates/ spawn rates are also not great in this game. I’m fine with it taking weeks to get items, but it can take months to get a single weapon upgraded. I’d like to be able to realistically farm for every weapon to play all the different kinds, but that just isn’t feasible with how many monsters I actually encounter. I would play the game more if I could, but they do not really give much opportunity for that. I don’t know, something about this game just doesn’t feel like it has as much love in it as other mh titles. It feels like a soulless cash grab.

Add potion crafting. I, as well as many other folks, find the low amount of potions to be a great weak point. My recommendation is to take the material gathering system that’s already in the game and expand it by allowing us to craft potions and other healing items from the things we gather. Box space upgrade purchases alone are going to account for a lot of the purchases made, so why lock extra healing items behind a paywall when crafting them is already true to the main franchise? Having potions be largely locked behind paywalls is going to do nothing but turn people off of a game that could end up being absolutely excellent with future updates. Additionally, I think that some sort of collectible system would be excellent, or some sort of upgradeable farm like in some of the main series games. The gameplay is great, but I think there needs to be more interaction with items in general.

Need more Potions!!!!!!. This game is great and I honestly enjoy it more than pokemon go HOWEVER, there is no way to get potions in game at like a node or something. You have to go to the shop and spend money to get potions if you run out. Every day you get 5 free potions but that is not enough for someone who wants to maybe spend a whole day playing and walking around. Once you run out of potions you can no longer hunt monsters unless you have like half of your health at least. Nothing is more frustrating than being on the verge of beating a monster when you lose your health and have no potions and no other free way to get potions other than the daily 5. If there was a way to get potions perhaps from mission rewards or nodes or just randomly on the map like bones or plants I would give this game 5 stars. Until then I can’t even recommend unless you wanna spend money

Mh world 2 basically & great mobile game. For a monster hunter mobile game this is really fun and this game is amazing it feels like I'm literally playing monster hunter world but on my phone and it really fun and controls are easy to play , for example I never used the gun in the console version because I personally found it hard to grind for more bullets but this game give u unlimited bullets of all elements and made the controls for it fun to play with the gun . Please add my favorite weapon bug gaviler & the dual blades and song hammer then this game weapons be great🙂. Two add all the bosses from my world into this game and some from rise because I love fighting kezhu and deviljoh. If Capcom wanted this game can add all the bosses from all the mh games because it a mobile app 🙂 . The only thing they should change is makes the tutorial shorter and make grind to the next boss a bit faster other than that it great game

Huge potential but has problems. I want to preface this by saying I am a diehard fan of the monster hunter series and I think overall this game delivers on pretty much everything you would want for a monster hunter AR mobile game. That said, this game has a few glaring problems to me that I really really really hope are removed/changed at some point and in doing so would make this review an easy 5 stars. 1st and most important: putting a paywall in front of a mechanic as fundamental as healing is a little bit gross (if you haven’t played the game, the potions used to heal can only be bought with premium currency). I implore the developers to change this to a regular currency that is easier to earn. 2nd: this might be a personal gripe but putting a 60 second time limit on battles can be extremely frustrating, while I understand this is probably used prevent low level players from competing against higher level foes, I think 90 seconds at least is more appropriate for 5+ star battles. 3rd: Finally, the in game shop needs work, including my complaint about potions, there really isn’t anything worth spending money on in this game. I’m sure however this will improve with time. Otherwise I do really like the game and I desperately want to love it like I do all the other MH games. Please consider the above :)

Wanted to love it but cant. Im a big MH fan. Have been a MH addict since a year before Iceborne came out and have loved the game since but there are problems that make the game nigh impossible to progress especially in a small town. There are only 3 large node collections area in my town, and I have to drive 30 minutes out for others and many upgrades take days to grind out for due to bad RNG either from monster availabilty to part drop rng. But you need to upgrade to defeat the bigger monsters, however you cant due to availability. And lord help you if you dont live in a place close to other players otherwise you are soloing it all the time. QR codes only work within a certain radius. The game forces you into a cyclical loop of failure. I've made it to HR 34 solo, but thats as far as Ive been able to go. Bad RNG, an inefficient "Hunt w/ friends" system, and not taking into account less developed areas have made for less than enjoyable MH mobile experience, turning the game into less of a game, more of a job.

Lots of fun slaying monsters, but could use a few tweaks.. So I “preordered” MHN as I was looking forward to a more grown up version of PoGo. I love going on walks with my wife, but the initial sparkle of catching Pokémon and going into battle has lost its meaning after a while. At my place of work we have three pokestops, so it’s easy to reload my bag and get it topped off for the weekend. I’m a pretty heavy console gamer in my spare time, so I’m fairly familiar with Monster Hunter but I’ve never personally played the games. I saw the teaser footage and thought this would be a great replacement, but there are a few changes that I would like to see. To start, the “large monsters” have hardly any HP. It seems like at times just a handful of well placed dodges and hits and they’re down. I’d like to see a bit more of a challenge there. Secondly, the spawns. The design of the map allows for dead zones, where nothing will spawn for quite a while. It seems sporadic, but I’d like to be able to play the game at my pace and take down/paintball a monster for later if I’d like. It’s a good start, and I dont mean to be negative in this review by any means. If they could improve a bit of the challenge, and make the spawn areas a little easier to work with, I’d rate this 5 stars.

Great Game but Stingy. This game is all around great. I am sure there will be a lot more added down the line to make the game even better. My only complaints are the amount of rewards you get. Overtime after you reach a certain Hunter Rank (HR) it becomes increasingly more difficult to get to the next Rank. This is fine, for me the challenge is fun but you are rarely rewarded for getting to the next level. Early on you get some gold, and items but eventually you get nothing at all. If you want more fun items like droplets and extra paintballs you have to buy them and they are not at all cheap. It cost 1.99 to get 150 gems, that’s only enough to get 2 potions (costing 60 gems a piece) the next cheapest thing is a paintball (costing 180 gems) that’s just to mark a single monster to fight in the future. Overall great game but I wish we were rewarded anything, even if it’s just gold, when you rank up.

SUPER close. I’m only HR13, which is a little bit past the tutorial section, but it’s so close to being the game Pokémon GO wasn’t for me, i’ve been a big pokémon and monster hunter fan for a long time, but pokémon never spawn around me because of the area I live in. This game doesn’t share said problem, things DO spawn in my area. the fighting feels about as smooth as it probably could be, the graphics set on max are up to world on PC standard, there’s just one thing they need to fix and that would be the driving mechanic, it’s not the same as pokémon GO, when you’re moving fast enough the game will simply not let you play, for safety reasons I understand why they did it this way, but I think the game should believe you when you say you aren’t the driver, and it should allow you to play the game under that understanding. If this is changed i will come back and change the rating, but it’s amazing so far!

It’s okay. Maybe I’m just too much of a monster Hunter fan. I absolutely love the monster hunter series and I also played Pokémon go for a good couple of years, so I might be super critical. This is a solid game with amazing potential. Overall, the game is enjoyable (but for how long?) and niantic did a good job implementing the monster hunter theme into a Go-esque game. One thing they did very well was the combat SPACE. Being able to roll and attack in the battlefield is really fun. Spacing (position management) in monster hunter combat is is half the fun: dodging attacks and targeting body parts. However, the small monsters like the jagras are brain dead. I can stand there for over a minute before they even attack me. I understand that they are just throwaway time fillers and they die in 3 hits, but why not let them be aggressive/active then? I would rather have more reward for a harder less occurring fight than a pointless fight with a pointless reward. The combat is too simple, I understand this is a mobile game and niantic doesn’t usually develop the most compelling combat (Pokémon Go). But it I’d like access to more ways to combo. (Especially from a game series where the complexities of battle is what drives the series). Maybe a different combo for when I attack, pause, attack. Or dodge attack with a side swipe attack. Again, overall a fun experience.

Could be fun. Game is fun, enjoyable, but there is so much wrong with it, between the game reporting you moving to fast, while standing still, even when walking alot of the time, and sorry to say I’m mostly looking at my phone when walking to these points, I can understand in a car ride, but 90% of the time I’m standing still or walking around, this right here, kills the game play cause alot of the time that is, is when, I would hunt or gather, and when you got to wait on this to go away to collect the items, which a lot of the time I walked 20-30 feet a way I would not go to waste more time waiting on this to end. Next would be constant notifications for your daily items are ready which has been collected already, the gameplay works well most the time, but just the few issues makes it really not enjoyable. Hopefully they care and will fix. Only time will tell, only so long tell I move along.

Advice for developers. I’ve been playing the game nonstop since one hour after lunch. I feel like this is a really good concept of monster Hunter, even though I’ve never played a single other monster hunter game I get a brief understanding of what the monster Hunter world is about and even some of the monsters that have been glorified through the series. My helpful advice would be to increase the radius of discovery of other players. Pretty much allowing us to get help from other hunters easier but keeping the same discovery circle for wandering around. that way it still takes the same amount of effort to discover a monster but once you do if there are hunters nearby, you can get help easier. I feel that group hunts are going to be what drives this game into a profitable zone everybody’s talking about group hunting, and how we wish we could do more of it

Okay, enough of the honeymoon phase. Ok. At HR 35. Past the honeymoon phase and into the gritty area. There’s even more grit to go through at 6 stars but I’m not there yet. Um, this game is cool. I use a gps changer through PC and pay a membership for it. Very helpful. Potions feel addicting and I’m definitely trying to stay as a once a month spender cause this game is not worth the money besides the monthly 30 day claim your gems pack. World and even Rise felt better to play because those aren’t PREDATORY towards your wallet (Unless you count Rise’s dlc but those are literally just cosmetics). A solid 4 stars review. Seeing it have full 5 stars by others scares me a bit because they will have different feelings when they get stuck by zenny or the painful resource farming without a GPS changer. Not to mention the wait an hour if you faint til you can start playing again but honestly that’s been doable by me since I can take breaks then just use my GPS changer for whatever to hunt with full HP.

Truly Fun & Addicting!!!. Although I was born in late 80’s & got to grow up as a true 90’s kid(the greatest era for new food, drinks, toys, tv, movie & especially video games! I admit I didn’t play many Capcom games as a kid. If I did it was normally X-Men the arcade game in a mall arcade! So I went into this one based solely off word of mouth. I’m glad I gave it a chance bc if you’re like me although you still love to play Pokémon Go! You don’t play nearly as much as previous years even in your free time. However this comes along and after I read it’s Niantic behind the games real world maps like P-Go! I knew I’d love it. It turns out it’s a LOT FUNNER than it sounds & the story and gameplay mesh perfectly! If you’re on the fence I say just download it! It’s FREE & not a “pay to play/win” or “pay to rank up” if you hate then just delete it, no harm no foul! However if you play Pokémon Go & liked it in the least then you’ll love this!!

Fantastic game so far!. Currently I’ve played through the tutorial and first few chapters of the story. It’s been an engaging experience, and I am compulsively checking my phone every 15-20 minutes for new spawns (don’t tell my boss!). The game definitely expects you to move, with large monsters respawning every 3 hours, so this isn’t a game that you can progress quickly from home. Thankfully small monsters and resources respawn on much shorter timers! The combat has been fun so far; just like traditional MH games, each enemy has differing attack patterns and each weapon offers a unique play style. A tutorial on the specifics of each weapons controls would be greatly appreciated, especially for fans that are new to the franchise. Overall, I see myself spending a lot of time hunting monster in the near future - 9/10 strongly recommend.

Has so much potential. I love this game, but niantic is trying it’s best to make it a miserable experience. I play everyday if I can, but the new hunt-a-thons punish solo players hard. Niantic doesn’t seem to care for it’s NA community as the vast majority of them are solo players. I don’t mind spending money on this game and have done so. However, niantic’s favorite strategy for making money seems to be to make the player’s experience worse. I do not understand this. I genuinely think niantic would make more money if they focused on improving the player experience especially for solo players. They could also sell cosmetics. They have so many options that they can profit off of, but instead they choose to shaft the player. I don’t mind the restrictions on healing items that many players do; I just want to have an enjoyable time as a solo player when it comes to events. Save your time and money until the solo experience improves if you live in NA. I quit and will be playing a real mh game on my steam deck for the time being.

Poor leveling incentive and cash grab.. Don’t get me wrong, the game is fun and I’m enjoying playing it. Yes, I understand that in this day and age mobile games are not made for the player, they are made to leech money. While the game does “reward” you for learning move sets and how to effectively dodge, on your journey to do so you are either waiting 18 minutes after getting hit or paying money for potions. That’s forgivable, they need to have monetary incentive to continue supporting the game. The part for me that is absolutely unforgivable are the level up rewards. Every 10 levels you get literal scraps. At HR 40 you get 1000 zenny, a wander droplet, and a single paintball. That’s the last level that gives rewards. I don’t know why I expected better from Niantic but considering Pokémon Go gives you rewards for every single level I expected at least a potion or 2 and a paintball for every level but instead they made leveling a joke. If they fix this and send out an apology care package I will change my review to 5 stars in a heartbeat.

Basically as good as a Monster Hunter mobile game can get!. They did an amazing job translating MH gameplay to mobile, everything works as expected. I do have some gripes however, or rather, a suggestion. I am at a point where i have some gear at high level, and story wise I’m at a pretty high level, but I can only use the 2 or so weapons and armor and everything else is inefficient. The reason I cant upgrade anything else is because I still need a lot of low level stuff. I’m essentially piling up high level drops while waiting to upgrade everything, so I propose a daily expedition mode. The only monsters that can appear are low level monsters (let’s say 2 or 3 stars below your highest unlocked monsters). You defeat the monster and get a gathering spot as a reward, and then you repeat it. Either a time limit or a number cap would make it so that you can’t just infinitely farm. That would make it much better in terms of grinding, make it more accessible, and be just plain fun.

Hit a Dead End…. I need 8 Monster Bone M for basically every piece of gear and armor I have right now. And it’s literally the only thing I can not get for the life of me. Been stuck at 2 for a week now, so I can’t upgrade anything. And the monsters I need to kill are so strong at this point that I need all 5 free potions for one fight. And that’s IF I can somehow get lucky enough to possibly survive and kill it with a second left on the timer!! Which 4 out of 5 times I fail because I run out of time, and I’m beat because I have no free potions left. And I’m certainly not going to pay $5 for another 5 potions that I’ll probably waste running out of time again if I fought another monster. It was cool for a couple weeks, but unfortunately it’s getting deleted… Nice try though, this could be cool with a major rethinking of how to get items, or separating the harvested items needed for upgrades. At every weapon’s level 5 of 5 it shouldn’t need the same item (in my case Monster Bone M) across the board. Nobody’s gonna stick around to get hundreds of one single hard to find item just to upgrade different types of weapons.

It’s okay. Needs Improvements.. It’s okay. It’s kind of like Pokémon Go and that’s going to be a bit of a problem for me personally considering I’m not in a hugely walkable area. One of the areas I needed to reach to collect resources was in the middle of a lake near my house. How am I supposed to get to that? Buy a boat to play this game? No. It’s why I never really got into Pokémon Go. There should be a way to move the character from the screen that way everyone can play. Pokémon Go had a huge surge in popularity but ultimately fell off just as quickly because it’s not realistic to expect people to “hunting and gathering” on a regular basis for what’s expected to be a casual game, especially in extreme weather conditions. It’s hot as bawls outside in some areas and when the winter comes that could pose an issue as well. I’m limited in what I can do because my character is largely stuck in one spot (my house) and when I do drive somewhere for anything I’m not thinking about opening this game. It’s an okay-ish idea it’s just not inclusive imo.

Great game but not perfect, yet. Been enjoying what I’m seeing so far, but there’s one feature that’s frustrated me so far. Paintball feature, amazing I love that you can mark monsters to hunt later when you have more time etc. Only problem is that it’s very pricey considering what they do, 180 each and no discount for getting a pack of 5. Over 1 USD each to allow someone busy or traveling to fight something they could have anyway. Not to mention if you’re a passenger going on the highway and lose connection (like me) you lose your painted monster and wasted a paintball. If you could obtain paintballs from the resource sites or able to craft them or if they were simply more accessible I feel like I could play this game way more than would now, I can imagine going walking around or biking painting a ton creatures and when I get home relax and slay monsters or while I’m on a trip of the connection issue gets patched. Maybe this wasn’t the intention of the paintballs but it sure would make my playtime increase. As it is now I won’t be purchasing the paintballs at their current price point and sincerely it’s the only item would purchasing at all. I’ll still be playing the game just hope it improves since I feel like I’ll be sticking around for a lot time as a long time monster hunter fan.

Sharp in every area but the basics. As a long time monster hunter fan, this game was great for like the first week it was out. The graphics were cool, the combat was fun, not too long, but not too short, the whole system of going out and finding things in the actual world was great! It was done very well, overall, much better than the launch of PokémonGO. But ever since getting to three star monsters, the game just chuggs and the frame rate becomes abysmal. It’s a small thing, but when I got to four star monsters, and only got worse. The game was basically unplayable unless I’m playing on Wi-Fi. I would just go around and paintball some thing to come back to my house and fight it later. It’s not a bad game by any standards, it just has a lot of room for improvement. I would recommend this game to any sort of monster, hunter fan or video game player who wants to get outside, as I’m sure that they will update the performance issues that there have been soon.

Location. It’s a fun game that requires you to move around quite a bit. But I don’t live in a big city. In order to actually make progress in the game I have to do a lot off driving around. If you’re disabled and can’t get outside like that then you’re limited on how many monsters you can fight. There’s no PvP part of this game either. So I don’t see the how it would hurt to let us travel freely without having to travel so much. Spoofing should be allowed, or at least and in game version of some that lets you explore more freely. The more monsters you hunt the more potions you would have to buy, plus more people would play the game way more often. I’m limited on how much I can play because of how little monsters and other things there are to interact with. I would like to play a whole lot more but I’m in a small town where there’s just not that much stuff. I wish I could move my character around and a further distance.

Too many problems. Should be a really fun game, combat is a little bland but okay, but there’s lots of problems. The monsters and resources and such can spawn anywhere, but the only ones that spawn often are small monsters that become pretty useless quickly, and the large monsters you must walk a lot to fight many of, since walking around a small park, for instance, will clear them out and then you won’t see any around there for a long time, which is a part worse than Pokémon. The items are expensive, costing premium currency that you don’t actually seem to earn anywhere in-game? I spent like $10 for the launch thing because it sounded like it would permanently upgrade the max Palico paintballs, but then hidden in other info for the pack it says it’s just for the 30 days, and the Palico tagging itself is extremely broken, it’s supposed to tag a random monster as you walk with Adventure Sync on but I can walk around my work for 6 hours and it won’t tag a single monster, and occasionally it will randomly tag one while I sleep? Then there’s driving restrictions so if you’re riding in a car you can’t do anything at all, monsters and resources won’t show up, big resources do show up but you can’t harvest from them, but if you have a monster tagged you can fight it, so it doesn’t make any sense… Plus there’s not very many of the weapons yet…

Has potential, but needs to change to stay engaging. I am a massive fan of both the Monster Hunter franchise and Niantic’s other more popular game, Pokémon Go. I think this game would be much more fun and engaging if they changed a few things: • Drop rates for higher rarity items need to be better, OR spawn rates of monsters which drop those items need to be higher. • Remote play with your friends via invite seems like an intuitive feature, but it’s not present at all. It makes it completely useless if you don’t live within a few hundred feet of your friends (i.e. practically everyone). The main games have an SOS Flare feature which allows either just friends, or anyone online to join for a specific hunt. Even in Pokemon Go, there are Remote Raid passes available, although they did make them more expensive post-COVID and practically impossible to get FTP. • The gems reward system is clearly oriented towards PTP, which means at higher levels it becomes much less rewarding to play. This isn’t a great way to keep a dedicated player base, making the game more boring as players progress. • Like Pokemon Go, this game would benefit from Lures of some kind, even if it was for purchase and only worked for a limited time each. Otherwise, it has a very short play cycle and a long reload time before you can open up and hunt again.

Best Niantic title thus far. I did not have high hopes for this game when it was announced, but I am so so impressed! It feels like the team who built this game looked at games like Pokémon Go and thought about how they could improve all of the things that are bad and frustrating about it, and they came up with great solutions! Having your game passively pick up items and mark Monsters for you to fight later is such a highlight! And while HP is the main thing that could potentially limit your play, it regenerates very fast all on its own! Gameplay is smooth and easy to get the hang of, hunting with your friends is simple and fun. Most of the monsters right now are from World (assuming because it was such a popular title) but I know they have big plans to add more and more and I’m very excited to see how the game expands going forward!

Niantic needs to make the game themselves. The developers need to play this game longer then 10 minutes to know why this isn’t a real niantic game. Why are gps spots only miming where’s the social part?? Why not have them as time trials where you fight like 3-5 monsters back to back to get your name on a list for a week with your time and upped rewards for those monsters. And why are your health potions capped at 10?!? Do they not realize once you’re dead you can’t play anymore? How can a group of friends go farm when there’s almost no monsters at parks and there’s no respond. Once you beat 2-3 monsters at a even big park that’s it. No one’s going to make a 10-15 min trip somewhere to play for 3. If they respond after like 30 minutes or even an hour we can make a day of spending it at a park. And the last update ruined recoil down where it doesn’t take effect till after you reload a few times. This could be the best game but it’s like it was made with ai and has very little play time per session

Okay. Solid foundation for a live service game. There is plenty that can be added or improved, but what irks me most is the timer. I don't see this going away at any point, but the timer is so incredibly frustrating to play around. Monsters have behaviors (most commonly flying) that seem to exist just to waste time. In a Monster Hunter game, these types of behaviors add variety and depth to each monster, but in MHNow where you have a very limited time to kill the monster, all it adds is frustration. I can see the timer being used as a way to artificially increase game difficulty in the future, rather than adding interesting mechanics to the game. The addition of Barioth gives it a moveset that confirms my fears. The monster has several different attacks that seem intended to delay time. It often even makes small movements that seem insignificant but actually puts it right outside the range of a melee weapon. Is this simply trying to encourage the player to ranged weapons, or a sign of things to come?
