Love the game, not the extras. This is my all time favorite game. Been playing since I was little.... the only things I would change is how in battle you can swipe to attack or combo, but when on the list of combos you can’t swipe... you also can’t swipe up or down when saying yes or no to things. You have to click the button. Swiping makes for easier game play. Also I really don’t like how they changes some of the dialogue and terms. “Happy water” used to be sweet water, and “arise” used to be life.... there was no reason to change it. There are complete conversations that have been changed too. Also in magus’s castle, there’s a hidden room in the dark of where Ozzie is trying to crush you with blades that isn’t there anymore.... :/

Classic RPG adventure. If you’re looking for a fun, classic RPG and adventure game with a good storyline and fun characters, this game is it! The game is quick and easy to learn and even beat. The real challenge comes in solving puzzles and putting together missing pieces of information. The story is beautifully simple yet fun. The characters are, for the most part, well developed. I could argue that some characters join the party too quickly for having as much resolve to the party and its objective as they do, but they’re nonetheless fun to play and lovable.

One of the best RPGs of all time but this version has some issues... This new update is definitely an improvement but it’s not perfect. The font is pretty bad and generic. There also is a filter that doesn’t look that great and causes some timing issues. Give us the option to play with no filters! I still think the DS version is the best one but this is decent after this new update.

Nostalgic but needs upgrades to movement and sound. Really love the quality of this port, well done. Movement needs improvement - for example in Proto Dome level when chasing the rat, cursor isn’t reactive enough for movement. When standing on the save points, can’t really click on them and have to click a bunch of times around the save points to activate the save menu. There needs to be a way to turn off sound in game.

A classic way ahead of its time. Chrono Trigger really bucked the trends of its time. Fighter-type characters are much more than spamming a regular attack button. Multiple characters can attack at the same time via skill combos. There’s no shortage of skills and tactics to use - in fact, it’s more complex than most modern mobile equivalents. Instead of random combat encounters that are traditional JRPGs, this has enemies clearly visible on the same terrain that your characters walk on, allowing you to avoid combat to some extent on your own skill. This appears to be among the earliest JRPGs to use active time combat instead of the regular turn-based that just about everyone else was stuck on. There are multiple endings (choice matters) and New Game Plus (remember what I said about this game being ahead of its time???). There are some endings and features that are specifically built so you can only reach them in New Game Plus. Also, as you probably guessed, this game goes easy on your phone battery. Great for travel on a bus or train where you might not have a dedicated power plug. My only major gripe is poor targeting controls in the mobile port, although that isn’t anywhere near enough of a problem to knock down a 5-star rating. Get it? Got it? Get this.

Epic Game. I have loved this game for as long as I can remember. I bought it for my Wii but I don’t use the console much and I haven’t turned on my snes in almost 10 years. My comment to the phone developers: please add Chrono Cross as well. I would happily pay a similar fee for this product. My comment to the original game developers: Activision/Blizzard and Bethesda are destroying games today with this pay to play mentality, and SCREWING players with unplayable bugs and terrible content. I BEG you, please develop a sequel to Cross. I don’t care if you charge twice the price if the story is good and the game functions as intended.

New Game Plus still broken?!?. Glad to see that there's a new update after all this time! With that said, there still seems to be a major glitch when starting a new game plus file. Basically, all of your tech abilities should carry over when you start a new file for new game plus. However, the glitch basically limits you to each character's first real elemental magic attack (Chrono - Lightning 1, Frog - Water 1, Lucca - Fire 1, Marle - Ice 1). Is anyone else still experiencing this issue? It's annoying that we put so much time and effort into beating the game only to lose half of our tech abilities!!!!!!!!!!!

This update makes it so much better!. Now with FULL screen on my 6s plus it is enjoyable! And with cloud save there's nothing more to wish for. Thank you for reviving the ios port!! Update: It would be nice if the selection during battle is saved such as AUTO and left-right side menu location. The AUTO is turned on and the battle UI stays on the right for all monster encounters!

Amazing game, upgrade is even better!. This game is amazing, an all around classic that is a must play. The updated graphics keep the CHRONO feel while improving upon its playability (bigger view for bigger screens, smoothed graphics, easier to play, crisp and easy to read fonts, etc). Any negative reviews about this being a “remake” should be ignored. There is nothing not to love about this game! Also, I commend Square Enix on their CustomerService. Not only did they make this update free to people who purchased it in the past, but the Apple TV edition is also a buy one get all (buy it on iOS, get it on Apple TV or vice versa). An amazing company and currently the king of mobile gaming!

Good but not good enough. Beautiful and fun remake to a classic but in the current 2.0 version certain side quest items that can be very important such as the sun stone can no longer be obtained. The quest is there but when you go up to the elder you do NOT receive it from him. Melchior after the rainbow shell is in Guardia castle and Yakra is defeated states that if you had another material he could make some better stuff but even if you complete the sun stone quest you cannot get the rainbow sword through the quest any longer. Also other items like robo’s ribbon cannot be obtained either. This is a serious bug in the game and needs to be fixed.

Pretty good. As far as I can tell this is a pretty good port of CHRONO Trigger. I’ve clocked in 12 hours so far and it’s never had any glitches or crashes and I play on the IPhone X. I had some trouble with a mini game at Leanne Square where you toss the rocks at the creatures to push them back but other than that it’s been alright. It was just slow response time to my button pressing.

Best game of all time. I started this game on an emulator, I couldn’t progress because of a problem. Desperately I searched the web on how to fix this, but the top solution was to buy it of iOS. At first I was skeptical, but after playing it and finishing it I LOVE IT. Everything about it, from the extras, to the NPCS, and the Main Cast. Everything about this game is perfect, and I think the way it was delivered on my phone was perfect as well. The fact that I could just take out my Phone and play on the spot was beautiful. Thank you Square-soft for releasing this game on iOS. I love this game and your company, and I will do my best to play the rest of your games as well.

One of the greatest of all time. Love being able to play one of my favorite games of all time on my phone. I really didn’t have any issues with this port and I felt the controls worked fine. This was my first exposure to the additional content added to the DS version which honestly I found to be complete crap. Seriously, an amateur mod could have done a better job with the lost sanctum map design, and the quests were ridiculously tedious. Vanilla CHRONO Trigger is still there though, and why I give this five stars.

Pull The Trigger and Buy. If you love RPG’s and have never played this SNES Square-soft classic do yourself a favor and pull the trigger and buy it. It doesn’t even have to be this App Store. This story takes you threw time and will be an adventure that you will never forget. Forget about the graphics and delve into the story and have fun grinding levels. There is a new game + mode which is well worth it.

Touchscreen adaptation is terrible. You can’t precision touch consistently on a phone that’s just a fact, and when you’re trying to tap on enemies it’s really easy to not actually tap them and target whatever the defaults on, which can royally mess up your fight. This is a traditional JRPG, and precision matters a ton, since one accidental target often just throws your whole carefully planned fight straight into the garbage can. Just get a Super Nintendo emulator and play the original on an actual game pad, waaaaay less frustrating.

Thank you !!!. Thank you Square Enix for not giving up on Chrono Trigger. Like many people who bought this title, we were disappointed and the game sat dormant in my purchase library all this time. I am so glad your company had the heart and the love of nostalgia to revisit it again and make it a promising game for us to finally enjoy on mobile. The upgrades I’ve seen so far with the graphical sharpness, gamepad controls, anime cutscenes, and cloud saves are amazing! I’m having a lot of fun playing it now. Once again, thank you so much.

Really. I’m a little bit shocked that you can’t watch the cut scenes anytime you want. Also the endings should be saved and be able to watch anytime you want. It’s 2019 and I remember playing this when I got it in 1995 and the game for that time. Would’ve been five stars but this is 2019 so I would expect certain things to be better especially the ability to be able to watch the cut scenes once I have achieve them anytime I want like in other games. Or the endings to be saved so I would be able to watch them anytime I want as well especially because there’s 13 endings...

Greatest game of all time.. This is the greatest game of all time. I’ve played this since I was 7 years old (nearly 24 years ago), and this is an excellent port. I wouldn’t have changed the translation - the original was excellent work - but the new one stays faithful in nature to the original; miss the names of old spells and “tonics”, though. Great controls and graphics for a mobile port. Thank you Square for the fun memories as a kid. Please bring us Chrono Cross next. Fantastic sequel that also deserves a new audience. Here’s hoping that the Chrono games continue on.

An okay version of a great game that deserves better. This review is for the March 10, 2022 update. This is a good update, and it's nice that it got one years later, but it doesn't fix some of the most annoying issues. • Controller support. It's technically there, but button presses work like they do on the touchscreen rather than being properly configured for a controller. What this means is that in certain menus or, most notably, in battles, the game responds when you RELEASE the "confirm" button rather than press it. This often makes the game feel laggy and like it's slow to respond, and makes it annoying to play on higher speeds. • Apple TV support. Again, it's technically there, they check that box, but all the touchscreen buttons are still there, now blown up on your big living room TV. This means you've got a big MENU option in the upper right corner the entire time. • The filter. It's not the worst I've seen, but it's still pretty bad and can't be disabled. And now, a new annoying issue: • Adding the ending log is great! It's better than the log on the DS version, which didn't let you rewatch the endings. However, if you, like me, happened to burn through all the endings only a week ago and got the achievement for every one, guess what - you have to do it all again to unlock them all in the log. Argh!

MFi Controls. Edit: Well square has done it. They have added MFi controls and iCloud support. Is the port absolutely perfect? No. But is this game still awesome. YES. My biggest 2 complaints have been fixed and this game is definitely worth 5 stars in my opinion. Final note: I was able to return the cat at the fair. Old: Chrono trigger is an amazing game, but the touch controls are so iffy. I would love this game to be updated to include MFi controller support and fix the glitches other users have mentioned. Also, iCloud support would be a welcome addition. Would easily be 5 stars if those changes are made.

Better than SNES version. This game was even better than I remembered. I encountered no bugs/issues with the game and have 50 hours logged thus far (2 times thru). This port has much more content than the original version. I played the DS version when it first came out and remembered very little of the extra content. I’ve been waiting for the DS version to hit the consoles for years; however, I think I enjoyed playing the game better on my phone. Overall, TERRIFIC game. Thank you for bringing this to mobile!!!!!

Please remove the Exclamation marks. Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games and one of the first JRPGs I’ve played. I remember blind renting in back in 1995. I absolutely hate the retranslating that happened for DS and this version but I guess that’s where we’re at. I only wish that those chat bubbles were removed or at least make it optional. Also if controller customization was added to the settings menu like it was originally.

Fantastic game, a must play on the go!. I love this game since it released back for SNES. I was only 4 when the original came to North America but I played it shortly there after because my brother who’s older than me purchased the game and played it a lot! I mostly enjoy the story and turn based battles are always fun when playing classic role playing games. The game is a nostalgic trip I wouldn’t trade for anything. I also have the Nintendo 3DS version, the PSN Store version through PS3, and the Windows version to go along with my iOS version I completed back in 2018. I think someday this game deserves either a remake or new entry into the series altogether. Thanks Square Enix for this amazing game and if you remaster it for PS4 I’d buy!

Love It. I first played this game on the SNES and later the DS, and I also played this when they first ported it to iOS. I didn’t play it much when it was first ported, but after trying again with the updated version I’m loving my first time playing this classic in years. It’s also really good with saves, accidentally exited the app with a bunch of progress unsaved, and when I hit resume I was practically right back where i was. Awesome app.

Finally Great. I think we’d all love to see the original graphics as opposed to the artificially scaled graphics that the app currently has, so I’ll leave that discussion out of this review. But finally, SquareEnix has taken this port to the level it needed to be at to be an acceptable way to play ChronoTrigger. The support for widescreen is a must in today’s gaming market. The additions such as point of interest and conversation markers is a big plus for those who may accidentally come across something and not realize you can interact with it. Though you can definitely finish Chrono Trigger without grinding if you play strategically, those who would like to grind will have an easier time now with the addition of faster battles using auto mode. The icing on the cake is that for those who purchased this app previously, you get all these features without having to pay for another remaster or some such. I hope this marks a new philosophy for SquareEnix with their mobile titles, and we continue to see great updates for more games. Thanks, SqureEnix!

Great game. I'd read great reviews of this game and as I have played it has been a very pleasant surprise. A great game with many very pleasant surprises, and great music, too. Definitely, if you get to a point in the game where you cannot seem to progress, be sure to look up online guides to this game. Some reviewers have complained about not being able to catch a particular rat at a certain point in the game, when you start bumping against the rat, immediately tap somewhere else on the screen and the rat starts talking to you, hope that helps anyone who gets stuck there.

Fav of all time. I played this game as a kid on the original SNES and loved it. Hands down an awesome transfer onto mobile and worth every penny. What I always loved about CHRONO Trigger is the fact it’s not a super complicated RPG, great for beginners and advanced alike. But the best part is that it has such an incredible story and uniqueness to it that has made an impact on me since I was a child. One of the best games of all time as far as I’m concerned. If you’re even considering this game, don’t consider, just buy it. It’s worth it!

My favorite JRPG of all time. I played this on iPad a few months back and can’t stop thinking about it. Everything I play is in comparison to Chrono Trigger now. I even caught myself the other day while I was out hiking thinking it would be nice to bury some wood in the past and then come back to my time and have petrified wood. What has this game done to me. A must play. Seriously.

Great port! (Only one issue). I LOVED this game on SNES. It was the first RPG I ever played. (And by that I mean played it vicariously as I watched my friend play through it.) I didn’t even know at that time who Akira Toriyama or Dragonball was. When I saw this port for iPad I was super excited, and the bugs were supposedly all taken care of. The only issues I have, and they are minor, are the controls. But, to be fair, this game was made well before people even considered touch screen controls, so targeting can be a little iffy. But they aren’t the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Every time I beat Lavos at the end the game crashes. I was really looking forward to New Game+ and that bug pretty much shot that whole thing to hell. Other than that it’s a great game that aged VERY well!

Great classic game. I just purchased this game and it runs fine! Have had no problems except in the beginning getting used to the controls and switching targets. Other than that I’ve had no issues. I’m glad the cut scenes are in this version as well because I’ve never seen them. Overall great game and great for the mobile . I was skeptical because of some of the negative reviews but I’ll say I disagree with them because I’ve had no problems with it. Great job!

Game is great, port is bad. If you’ve never played this game, it is a great accesible JRPG, one that doesn’t make you get into the weeds on the mechanics, but still offers an engrossing skill system. The game has a really compelling story that holds together thematically (in a way that almost none of the Final Fantasy games pull off when they wax philosophical). This is one of those things in life for which the hype is not unwarranted. However, this is a bit of a junky port. It is essentially the DS version, but there is nothing new on offer, no extra content, no graphical tweaks. You cannot turn off the sound in-game, unlike other Square ports, so you cannot play background audio. The controls are not great, I recommend using a controller...but if you’re going to do that, might I recommend playing this on a different device?

First Timer... Wow. I’ve heard about this game for yeeeeears, always receiving praise and blah blah blah. I never had a console to play it on though and am wary of these price tags when it comes to mobile since you don’t know what you’re going to get. I finally broke down and bought and all I can say is wow. This game COMPLETELY lived up to the hype and shattered my expectations. It ran super smooth on phone, the only issue I found is VERY rarely the text boxes would lag a little when people are talking. It didn’t happen a ton though so no biggie. I definitely recommend this, especially if you’ve never played this game before

Fantastic new version, Squenix!. Absolutely love all the changes made alongside the PC release. The entirety of my iphone 8 plus screen is used up, graphics are a lot more crisp, and the battle UI is fantastic to use and look at. Also, moving Crono around feels a lot better now, don’t know if that was updated or if its just me, but it’s a lot easier to navigate environments. Good job square!!! Can you provide the same update treatment to FF1 and FF2?

Great game!. This has been a favorite of mine for years. Jumped at the chance to finally purchase it. But as an owner of multiple devices I am disappointed in the cloud saving feature. To save my progress to the cloud I have to first save, manually close the app reopen then export to iCloud as it doesn’t keep them synced nor can I find an option to exit to the main screen not tried bookmarking yet as a classic gamer I normally play from save spot to save spot. But there are times when I’d want to save but can’t bookmark. This is probably the only exit to main screen option. No sound controls meaning I can’t listen to anything except the game while I play as the game volume competes with whatever your listening to.

Two massive problems make this game really frustrating. 1. No way to turn off the in game sound or music, which means you can’t listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks while playing. Insanely stupid 2. The in-combat targeting is trash. You can tap directly on the center of an enemy and the game will, instead of targeting it, randomly attack something else. Given that most boss fights require precision targeting, this makes lots of fights incredibly difficult and frustrating for no reason at all. Garbage controls should not be what makes a boss hard

Great port great game. Such a fantastic game and this is a really good port. I've never seen this game run so smoothly and it seems they've somehow widened the screen for certain areas that have the assets to do so. This game does not come with any quality of life improvements like many of the final fantasy ports. No fast forward, no character max skill. Just an auto attack. Which is all you need. What makes this game so good is that it requires no grinding to level up your character. Every battle can be beaten with the right strategy. All enemies have a weakness that can be exploited. Over leveling your character would break what makes this one of the best rpgs of all time. My only complaint is how likited the settings are. I would have preferred some more ui options and control options. Nothing is customizable. You get what you get. Luckily that's almost perfection.

One of the All-Time Classics. This is probably one of the games got me into RPG’s after my brother showed it to me. It was one of his all-time favorites as well until he passed away. I know that the iPhone is more than capable of rendering the sequel of Chrono Cross well. So I would love to see that I have ability at some point to complete whole storytelling. With so many choices in the original game here as well as the sequel game I would love to see avalible at some point. The replayability of these games is amazing.

Still Timeless. In 1995, I repeatedly called my local game store where I had pre-ordered Chrono Trigger on SNES. When my copy finally arrived, my love of this time-jumping adventure was immediate from the moment that the box was in my hands. I’m no longer 15 years old, but when I play Chrono Trigger on my iPad or iPhone, it takes me back in time to a place where I had so many fond memories of the story and characters in this wonderful classic.

Honest review. So I bought this game about a year ago, before the upgrade and it was pretty annoying with how the control mechanics were. But after the upgrade it's playable and I'm able to enjoy it like when I played it on super nintendo. I deleted it off my phone several times hoping it would get better and never did until this last big update. So if you wondering whether to get it, get it.

Good. Please fix to make it great.. Glad to see this update and huge fan of the original I played on SNES - I found the original iOS release unplayable, and this upgrade is much much better, but there's a few things to make this port great... Requests: 1. Please allow turning off image smoothing or any interpolated (bilinear, etc) scaling - It looks blurry. I and it seems almost everyone else prefer the original pixel art unaltered and crisp (nearest neighbor / pixelated) scaling. 2. Still have to say this plays better with a controller, since Chrono glides past things if you aren't perfectly pointed at a Target on a perpendicular axis, so the New MFi controllers support is good…but game doesn't tell you anything about what button to press for anything like the pose matching at the fair, even though you can use controller to play those parts / so you have to do dinner guess and checking for that currently. Can't walk with controller joystick, only run, even when run/walk is set to Both, which allows the virtual joystick to do so. Also menu button doesn't bring up the game menu on iOS but why not? 3. Please support iPhone X for fullscreen. Note: I was able to return the cat to the girl at the fair that other reviews mention being broken, so it seems that has been fixed.

Great port.. I recently finished and had zero problems with controls or pretty much anything. If some of you have an issue with the controls, just switch the control setting to run or walk only when you need it. Had zero problems at Death Peak and I basically just had it at run only throughout the whole game. The only minor annoyance was that during some auto text conversations, it went a little to fast for me to read. Like when Marle wakes up Crono in the dream and when you fight Magus. But aside from that, I hade a great experience.

Missing techs. The update notes for the most recent version says it fixed the missing tech bug but it didn't. The bug is when you do a new game+ and talk to spekkio for the first time, to "learn magic", it makes you forget all techs you knew that you wouldn't know T this point on a regular new game. The patch notes say that if you use a save file from before the techs were lost then you won't lose them. However, when I loaded the save file I had right before talking to spekkio and then talked to him, I lost all my techs. Please fix this bug for real. It's the only reason I don't play the iOS version. The SNES version is better.

Graphics look better/ Still not updated for iPhone X. The graphics look better and I applaud you for spending the time to do that; however, I was hoping that there would be iPhone X support with the new update. I realize when I was playing on my iPhone 7 several years ago that the picture didn’t fill the full screen and had a modified interface to deal with that, but it’s only taking up a small portion of the iPhone X, making me not even want to play. Please update this somehow. Thank you for the continued support!

Awesome Game!. What a great job on the remake and having so many characters gives great replay for end game. Please developers add an option to adjust music / sound volume and:or the ability to turn off the in game music. There’s no way to turn off the audio for example playing podcasts while playing you hear the podcast and the game sounds. Can you please add this to your backlog for feature requests? Thanks a million!!

This is the version that should have been released in the first place. I’m glad to say that the new version is way better than the original mobile version that was released. The controls are a lot less slippery from what I have seen so far and the attack menu has improved a lot. You no longer have to scroll to target enemies. You can now change targets simply by touching them. If you want to get into Chrono Trigger buy the mobile version and not the PC version. It’s much cheaper and menu designs work much better for mobile devices.

Good port of one of the greatest games of all time!. This is Chrono Trigger as we all know and love it. This game transfers over to iOS pretty well. I don’t really like games that have you move using a virtual dpad but it works well enough here. I play on my iPhone. This is the DS port of the game which includes all the “bonus” dungeons & fetch quests. My only real issue with this game is that Ive had some issues when loading my save to a new device from iCloud. Last I remember, I had already finished the final 6 tasks before facing off with the final boss and I was somewhere in the lost sanctum completing the fetch quests. I am 100% positive that I saved there in game and then backed up my save to iCloud (I know because I had just gotten Ayla leveled up to get the Iron Fist), yet when I loaded my save from iCloud, I’m back at The End of Time and Chrono is somehow dead again. But Ayla is still leveled up and has the Iron Fist. I don’t understand. It’s not a huge deal, just something to consider if you plan on playing across multiple devices. Overall, great game. Chrono Trigger is absolutely one of the best JRPGs ever and this port is solid aside from save issues with iCloud. Certain parts are made easier for touch screen controls (catching the Rat, death peak etc.) If you haven’t played this game, I highly recommend it. I still prefer the SNES version over any other though. Back to the grind for Ayla’s Bronze Fist (:

Great game overall. I’ve never played this before so this is a new experience. I really enjoy the game, I’m over 20 hours in on my first play through. I’ve been playing with an Xbox Series X controller and a phone mount for my 12 Pro and it is enjoyable. My few gripes: 1) Square needs to hide the home bar in game. It’s super annoying. 2) some movement is wonky with a controller. ThereAre some spots in the game where the MFA Controller get you stuck and you have to use the touchscreen to navigate around rocks another ground clutter. 3) I saw a few areas with the script on screen that got jumpy, meaning you had to let the in-game timer advance the narrative versus hitting a button to move the text. The button would skip an entire section of dialog that was supposed to be read slowly.

Cutscenes added!! Graphics cleaned up!! Best version! Gateway game and intro to the RPG genre. Aside from the original SNES cartridge, this updated port of CHRONO Trigger is the definitive version and now finally worth the asking price of $10. If you never played it, now is the best time to get into it. This RPG is simply amazing. If you don't like RPGs or don't want to play a modern overly complicated RPG, but are curious of RPGs then you might want to give Chrono Trigger a try. It's the gateway RPG. The game play alone has just the right balance of simplicity with some layers of complexity to be interesting and fun to play. The story is captivating to say the least, with interesting characters you actually care for, which is strange since they are just 16 bit pixels. The music and sound still holds up very very well; I find myself humming the music while I'm at work. The SNES had superior sound processing back in the day, and Square took the music score very seriously back then, which is why it's still so good today.

New update not cool being HP bar and TIME bar. Please add in settings the option to remove these new stat lines being the green Hit Points line bar and blue TIME line bar. I love Chrono Trigger and i did not update my iPad so bars are not there but my iPhone has these new not cool lines that make the battles not cool as the battles are cool with no Double Line Bars under Crono's feet lines for a child. So add an option to remove these lines in the settings above save game settings buttons options menu please to make game as it was like before last update.

Good, but could be more inline with the Steam version. The Steam release of Chrono Trigger was identical to this version of the game upon its release. The Steam version has since been given several updates to improve the UI, controller support, graphics, and additional options. I’d love to see these fixes come to the iOS version to make the game feel much better with a controller and look better on an iPad or Apple TV. Also, I can't lead the cat at the fair, making a whole plot point later in the game unchangeable.

Best game ever. Really is a timeless classic, one of the all time best of its genre. If you have ever liked any jrpg then you have to buy this game. You wont regret it

One of the best RPGs I have played in a long time. This is a great game, I went into this game a bit skeptical but all of that was blown away after the fist few hours. While I personaly think the game is a bit to expensive, yet those who are willing to pay the price will get a phnomanal game well worth the time and effort put into to finish.

Good story worst control. I truely do not understand how square enix could have made the control so bad. Its impossible to walk around without getting stuck on random pixels. This issue would be fine EXCEPT you need to face the thing you are interacting with 100% dead on. Oh look a twinkle! Lets go suss out the twinkle! NOPE first you need to walk into 100 random pixels then bump into people in the way and then get stuck with the people, then stuck with your own party then finally you get to the twinkle. Seriously square enix, give a little more leeway in the controls and it will be a much better game.

AMAZING!!!!. I loved chrono trigger when it first came out and the iphone version has been able to recapture the joy of the original perfectly! The only issue is that with ios 6 characters tend to have coloured boxes around them sometimes... Please fix that!

Don't bother on an iPhone 5s currently. The game is great but don't bother buying it if you have an iPhone 5s currently. There are graphical glitches that have been acknowledged but it has still been a year since the last update and there is no fix.

No time for the greatest game of all time. Where is the universal version? Or Retina graphics? Up scaling on the ipad 2 Looks about as good as the old CRT televisions..

Needs Updating... This is the best game of ALL TIME!!! But i wish it was more like the SNES version... the controls, menu and options on SNES are so much better. Also what happened to the graphics!?!?!? If you download the SNES emulator for the iphone the graphics are so much better. Also there is a box that forms around characters and some objects in the game, which is quite irritating... Still i love this game so much but it needs to be updated so the graphics are more like the SNES and the boxes needs to be fixed. An option to change the controls back to how it was in the SNES would make it AMAZING though. :DDDD

No thought put into the controls.. Rework the controls. Half the time I hit the wrong target because target switching doesn't work well. The experience is broken and hard to recommend to others

A great classic revival. Awesome game, so glad they ported classics like these onto the iOS. The sprites glitch now n then & the touch joy stick is quite hard to manage. But the great story and fun gameplay make up for it. I hope square port more classics like these onto this platform - thanks a lot guys :)

very torn. chrono trigger in itself is a classic, and the iOS version is very impressive for what you have to work with. I got used to the battles already and the movement is sometimes a bit annoying, but nontheless this is a good port. my only real complaint is the graphical issues with the character sprites. they are discoloured and for some people make the game unplayable. I have only myself to blame though, for I purchased this game without realising it isn't supported by iPhone 5. I can't wait for the forthcoming update so I can play the game how it's supposed to be played!

Great port but.... This game will have no rival however the touch controls are not great when selecting techs/combos and items during combat. Otherwise the changes made for iOS is really effective and enjoyable. If they can improve this By making it easier to select items at the bottom of the list or maybe allow us to sort the list this would perfect the port. Thanks SE

How does a 1.2mb snes rom take up 500mb ???. For such a price and such great size I expected a graphics update or at least graphics filters!!! Which isn't hard to add square, stop being lazy and work for your hefty prices.

Way to ruin a classic game. Do NOT buy this game as it is now, the new update broke the sprites so now they don't align properly, and you get horrible texture filters applied over everything. Final Fantasy 1 looks better than this. Dafaq are you doing Square Enix?

Broken!. I should have listened to the other reviews! I have an iPod touch 4th gen running on iOS 5.3 (this is because iOS 6 does not allow direct downloads of podcasts to the device and instead makes you use a crappy new podcasts app with half the current features). The information claims that the game runs on iOS 4 or higher anyway, so this should not be a problem. As other recent reviews have stated, when I attempt to play the game the screen glitches out becoming boxy and broken. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, restarted my iPod, and deleted all my quick bar in an attempt to fix this, however it has done nothing. If apple hadn't broken podcast I'd install iOS 6 and maybe the app would work. However, Square Enix shouldn't lie to customers and put out a broken game. I thought I was getting a bargain, one of the best games of all time (or so I'm told) for just $7.49, however I strongly encourage anyone thinking of buying this game to at least wait until a fix is released (so wait until post v1.0.2). After that, maybe I will enjoy and recommend this game.

Runs fine but needs resolution fix. Come on guys.. I know this is a classic and all but you really need to update this for current hardware.. Otherwise perhaps it's best to just remove it entirely from the App Store.

Weird glitch. The game is glitching when im around other characters in the game these large squares appear on top of them so please fix this asap

Crappy trigger. Worst port ever. On screen d pad is way to difficult to guide the player. And I keep seeing sprites flickering! Waste of money. Gonna download a rom version and enjoy this game with no rubbish

I had to admit, despite loving chrono trigger I had some reservation about purchasing this app. I was however surprised to find the IOS controls easy to use, even when playing on the small screen of my 4S. I highly recommend this app. The 20-30 hours of entertainment is well worth the money. 5 stars!

With an update.... Please sharpen up the graphics square. A 500mb game should look better than this, and if theres a way to improve the touch controls that would be great. It's unplayable, but it feels pretty horrid to have to swipe to select things then tap anywhere to use it. Why not just do what you've done before and make it work. Its hard to distinguish between little swipes and a tap sometimes. I love this game, but i think you can do better square. The retina update for ffta: wol proves that you can do it! Don't just leave it to the text in chrono trigger!!

Potentially Brilliant, Sadly Not Even Close!. Why don't SE make this better? Even just adding MFi support at the very least would make it sooo much better. Graphics SHOULD be updated too, this is a cult classic and everyone knows it. CT deserves the same respect (if not more) than the FF games and it's obvious that people will play it FOREVER! Do it some justice Square Enix, heck afterwards you can put that nice big $18 price tag on it or something (which I, and I'm sure many others, would have gladly paid for a quality version, but instead SE knows the fans are eager enough and will buy it anyway no matter the quality- nice one SE). I'd like to give it 2.5 stars but of course I can't, so it gets under 50% cos the sh!#s given in the first place were obviously ZERO! Just give it MFi ffs!

I'd give it 10/5 if I could. This my fellow gamers, for me, is the pinnacle of SNES gaming. Chrono Trigger has been released on multiple platforms since its release on the Super Nintendo with amazing success without changing of the graphics or core gameplay mechanics. You can only achieve such repeated success with a stellar title. Chrono Trigger continues to hold its own against present day titles on current hardware. Im happy to see it here on mobile platforms giving a new generation of gamers the chance to experience one of the best games of all time. Buy this game if you love being taken on a ride with an amazing story with memorable characters, you will not regret it :)

Awesome game. Playing it on the iPhone 4S now on the latest iOS. Recent patches make the game work like a charm. DEFINITELY recommended to people who haven't played it before. Finished it for the first time and realised that it was the first game I've ever been emotionally invested in in a while. Holds up quite well for a 20 year old game, and perfect for dedicated gamers who have to spend a long time away from their console/pc. Go buy it.

Great game rubbish controls. Chrono trigger doesn't even need a rating it's a timeless classic but the port is hopeless. The touch controls are rubbish swipe and tap gets confusing and don't even get me started about death peak. Also graphics leave a lot to be desired, do the game some justice and revamp it just a little. Honestly people who download and emulate get better than we who support squareenix. Dissappointing.

Finally works on IOS5 IPod 4th Gen. As said in title, very happy now 😃. It was broken before but after the update, it runs like a treat. Before it wouldn't display correctly. It is a very good import of the original but an autosave would be nice as a mobile device can run out of battery. As I learnt the hard way, not saving and exiting leads to no saves. This means I had to start again but lucky I wasn't too far in 😜. Other than those small issues, I highly recommend this game. Price is a bit deterring but definitely worth this 10+hrs of solid nostalgia.

Great.. Played the hell out of this game when I was younger. Great to see it back. For some reason though the 'wait' battle option doesn't work. Other than that this games great. Definitely recommend it.

Finally!. Finally the greatest rpg of all time is now on my iPhone. I haven't put my phone down since the only fault is my battery keeps dying on me! Only one more thing that is needed is the cut scenes. That would make this game complete.

Ugly sprites on Ipad Air and iPhone 5S. Was really excited to play this game again - it’s a great game. This port isn’t really displaying correctly though. The character sprite colours look inverted and kind of transparent. Really ugly :( Please fix ASAP.

Sound not working. I downloaded the game, and as i open it, the sound is somehow muted, i cant find any sort of settings in game and sure as hell don’t know how to fix it OFF game. All time favourite game growing up. Wow just got a new phone and seen this. So far just what I needed

Man over 13 hours and loving it. Never played it as a kid but the story keeps me so captivated that I just can't even think about it ending with out getting sad.

No sound in iPhone 11 X-ray. Great game. But there is no sound. I have to use earpod hear the sound. Please fix the bug or refund me the money ....

Playing on Apple TV. On the one hand super excited to have Chrono Trigger on my Apple devices. On the other hand these menus look awful. What is with square’s games having these new ugly text boxes that don’t fit the game without the option to at least have some that look like the originals from the SNES version?

Anime Cut scenes. You guys have to include those anime cut scenes, I really enjoy those, it brings an added dimension to the experience of the game

No Sound. The game has no sound on iPhone 11 on iOS 13. Takes away from the experience quite a bit.

Great time sync. I’ve played this game many times over. The mobile version has some parts that are tricky to play (events in the tent at the fair for example), but although harder than using a controller they are still doable. The cloud save (you only get one slot) is nice if you want to play between multiple devices. The latest version says that it is for big fixes, but I don’t think I have encountered any anyways. The best part - No ads, no micro transactions... absolutely worth it.

A bad port. A ruined interface, an ugly HP/MP bar that you can’t remove to really make sure you can’t enjoy the original artwork. The extra content is really unremarkable. I wish they just ported the original without changes. The team that ported this really didn’t get the spirit of the original masterpiece.

Not iPhone X compatible. Appreciate the update but seriously, why would you not include iPhone X screen format? Seriously!?

Tiling is broken. The tiles in almost all parts of the game are all misaligned. Extremely annoying and weird to look at. Completely distracts from the rest of the game.

No music?. There’s absolute no sound! This is a paid game and there’s absolutely no sound for me! How do I fix this?

Update heck yes!. Bought the game like 4 years ago as it’s one of my all time favourites but never finished the IOS version. The update has fixed every major complaint I had about the port and I’m currently enjoying yet ANOTHER play through. Thank you square!

LIFELONG FAN. Was not disappointed with how this game looks and performs on my iPad.

Good game, Some minor bugs. One is the controls I find a bit sloppy, hard to keep a running pace and change direction. Another bug I just ran into is the race in the future with Johnny. When you change the race mode some times you have no more control and have to watch the whole race of you ramming into Johnny, pretty frustrating when your trying to get a score for prizes :(

Race broken. Jet bike race literally impossible to beat buddy just stays perfectly in sync

Low resolution. iPhone XS Max full screen remake

No language setting in setting menu. There is no way to change the language from the inside game setting menu and this game doesn’t support the screen size of the XS and XS Max properly.

Excellent Apple TV game. Chrono Trigger plays very well on the Apple TV with a gamepad. I hope Square Enix will port more games on the Apple TV. This is a must for every RPG fan who owns an Apple TV! Square Enix, please correct the issue preventing us from accessing the main menu from the game.

Replaying My Childhood. Can’t believe I didn’t know this was available, bought this yesterday, bought a pizza, kissed my girlfriend goodbye, and started reliving my childhood through what is probably the best RPG ever made! I’m about 3 hours in, seems just as great as the original SNES version!

Sudden update!. This game has been available on iOS since 2011, but suddenly, out of the blue in 2018, they drop a major update with improved graphics and sound, cloud saves (finally I can share my progress on both my iPhone and iPad), and improved controls (for example, you can now simply touch the enemy you want to target instead of having to toggle. I don’t know why a touchscreen version of the game didn’t work this way all along). Better menu layout too. Pretty much every issue I had with the mobile version of this game has been addressed. Would have given 3 or maybe 4 stars before. 5 stars now!

Language setting please. I live in Canada Montréal main language is French but I also prefer enjoying my experience with rpg gaming in English, the game downloaded and is just in french it’s disappointing for me, also same thing for Final fantasy 7 , I want in the setting of the game being able to chose French English or any other language like other games on mobile, in a world becoming more multiethnic on every country would be a good idea to apply language setting helping people who want to enjoy their experience in any language they want

Missing Steam Version Upgrades. After seeing the furor that arose over the lacking port to steam I was quite excited hoping these would be reflected back in this version. It would be awesome to see those make their way back to iOS and especially a revamp of the tvOS version (full classic SNES look and feel, maybe?!)

Best RPG of All Time. The story is incredible and one of the best I’ve ever experienced. Between FF3 (SNES or FF6 on the PSX), both are hands down the very best single player gaming experience I’ve ever had in the RPG category.

Everything is perfect except the audio glitch. There is an audio glitch where you need to go back to the phone Home Screen then tap the game icon again to bring back the audio Outside of that, everything is A1 Also, the Doppel Doll game is way harder because the buttons are way too small and close to the app toggle bar on iPhone X and above. I had to activate the screen zoom accessibility feature to manage this part!

Another Update. I LOVE how the developers of this port keep updating it when they don’t have to. An update came out the other day that allowed the game to use the full space of the newer iPhones and fixed the sizing of the in-game cinematics. There is no need for them to do this on such an old game but it’s very welcome.

A favorite (but it could use cloud sync for save games). I love this game and it’s so awesome that it also works on Apple TV! I hope you guys bring Apple TV compatibility to the classic Final Fantasy games. The only thing missing from CHRONO and any of the classic Final Fantasy games is automatic syncing of cloud data. It’s so clunky to have to manually upload and download cloud saves. I would like to be able to continue playing on different devices without having to manually upload/download the save games. Please make this sync automatically :)

Really good, but... Even better than my childhood, good remake, but I think you should add the monster arena from the ds version as well, I’ve already beaten everything on iOS and it’s only been like 6 days, it’s the only part of the game I’ve never played, or even seen for that matter, maybe add a harder version or something, I don’t know, keep up the good work though, maybe add something like you have on ff vii and ff ix where you have the speed up feature, would help get through the agonizingly slow parts and scenes

One of the best ever made. It is surprising that Square Enix is still updating this game on this port. I played it on Apple TV and it suddenly becomes one of the best games I have ever played. There is no bugs and it plays like a real console. This game is a timeless masterpiece.

Need resolution setting. Game is not intuitive on iPhone X and XR due to the fact that you cannot adjust the resolution or screen size. It shrinks the screen and only uses the middle portion. Making the movement controls difficult or unplayable for people with small hands.

Please give the same treatment to Secret of Mana. I love what you’ve done here. Please update Secret of Mana in the same way.....

Best game ever!. Chrono Trigger is well known to be one of the greatest games ever made. Do yourself a favor and play this masterpiece!

Greatest game of all time. This game has been and most likely always will be the greatest of all time. Between the compelling story, amazing soundtrack, cool enemies, epic boss fights, iconic characters, and the incredible one of a kind tech system it has no competition. This is a must have for any true gamer, if you haven’t tried I highly suggest you do, I promise you will not regret it.

Targeting Issues. As it stands I find it infuriating that the only way to target enemies is by tapping their sprites. Would much rather prefer a way to manually scroll to the enemy I’d like to attack. This hindrance leads to a variety of scenarios where an accidental wrong tap greatly shifts the directing any battle is heading (e.g. the first boss in the future that controls fast moving darting pods and counter attacks the entire party if mess up your tap) I will switch my rating to 5 stars immediately if you add this option but as of this review, this single oversight crippled an otherwise fantastic port.

Great Game. This is easily the best game on my phone. The touch controls take some getting used to, but are not that bad. The new update makes the graphics look much better, and it’s nice that it takes up the whole screen now.

Love this game — classic!. One of my favorite older games to replay! Still great. One thing that would make it even better is if there were a way to toggle sounds/music on and off, so that we could listen to music from other apps during the game. Thanks for making this available on iPad!

Absolute classic – one of the greatest of all time!. Love the story, music, gameplay, items, and replay value. Glad that this is like the DS version where it includes the additional areas not in the SNES original. Definitely get this if you like RPGs!

Awful. This port is terrible. Somehow, what the devs messed up is the controls, which seems to me (a software dev) far from one of the hardest things to get done correctly. The player avatar often has to be moving toward a chest or other stationary object in order to “collect” it, and sometimes has huge trouble just moving past characters, neither of which was true for the original SNES version or or for the PlayStation port. Ive now gotten stuck twice in a way that did not allow me to move forward, just by being blocked by terrain. This game play is garbage. This is inexcusable.

Almost There... Did it bother anyone else that they took out the charming font style of the original and replaced it with the sterile typeface that they did? Other than that and the fact that you can’t turn down the soundtrack so you can listen to your own music it’s perfect.

A piece of classic jrpg history. *puts nostalgia glasses on* Almost beat this game in my youth until my mom discovered me cutting studies for gaming and took it away, now as an adult i return again to play and conquer it finally. It ports nicely although if you are using touchpad I recommend battlespeed set to 8 (slowest), battle mode set to wait, and movement set to always run to counteract the lack of controller. My only gripe is lining up your interact (talking, open chest, ect) which requires getting used to... if only they slightly extended the range or something, meh it’s hardly a dealbreaker. I love this game and they did good job on the port. :-)

Horrible port. This is a horrible port. The graphics are blurry, there is noticeable empty screen space around the game scene and the character moves across the screen too fast. It all makes playing the game too disappointing too actually enjoy it. The targeting during fights is kinda wonky too but that could be because I’m not used to it. You also have to buy the game again if you want to play it on the iPhone.

Almost as good as it was except.... No pause button in battle! Why is this missing? other than that, I don’t see why this isn’t the best version to have nowadays cuz it’s portable. I would’ve given 5 stars if they woulda had that pause button.

Need to add arena of ages to this version. I played the original on SNES and was sadly disappointed to find out that it didn’t contain the Arena of ages added in the DS version. I had only played the original game so I was excited to hear about the additional ending and content on this version so to find out I paid for the game again just for a different version kinda sucked. Also some of the controls are a little iffy but other then that it’s still the same great story line and game play I remember from being a kid.

The nostalgia flows!!. Wow! This was the first RPG I ever played, and as it’s unavailable on the PlayStation Store I’m so excited to have it on iOS! Bluetooth a controller and airplay it to my television and away we go! So excited to share this masterpiece with my children and to relive the story of Crono and his crew! 💕

It’s hideous. I can’t stand to look at it.. I love the game. I played it on the DS some years ago, but I thought it might be worth checking out to play here since I had the option of playing in Japanese. Unfortunately, that requires a system language change. More importantly though, the graphics are a disaster and there are no video settings. The sprites have been muddied, not in a nice CRT/scanline kind of way, but in a busted filter that nobody would ever use in an emulator kind of way. I can’t even look at it. I want my money back.

Almost perfect, one issue. This new version is almost perfect. One issue though, there is no option to turn volume off. I like to listen to music and play and there’s no way to do that without having to hear both the game and the music at the same time and that is not fun.

Legendary game gets treatment it deserves. The quality of the source material makes even a passable port of CronoTrigger worth the purchase. This new update of graphics and UI moves from a 2-3 Star to a solid 5. Every RPG fan should own this masterpiece.

Love this game... however.... I loved this game as a kid (and I’m not a big gamer, never was and never will be). However, I just spent the cash to purchase this game thinking that my phone would suffice as a game controller. Disappointment comes to mind when I find that I cannot control my game with my phone nor my Apple TV remote. I feel like I have wasted $10 on a game I cannot play. I don’t want to spend the money to purchase a game controller from a local store when I don’t have a need for it other than to play one game. Seems a down right shame and an awful waste.

Only if your truly desperate to play. Ive played and seen other versions on this and i feel like it dosent do its snes precursor justice like they couldve at least made the graphics be switchable to pixel perfect and the font that they used for text and battle sprites is just horrible youd be better off playing it on steam or another version they say the DS version is the best of the best

Surprised by how good it is. Played it back on the SNES. Honestly I was not expecting to like the mobile version. I was wrong. This is great! The worst part is the cutscenes (kept from the PS1) that feel like they interrupt the moment, but you can skip them and there are not that many.

Classic. Excellent game excellent story for the time it was made it definitely had a very complex story for the SNES that made it all the better wish they made a remake with todays graphics and more in depth time conundrums would be epic all in all 10/10 must buy and play……

My favorite game of all time!!!. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - Port this version over to the Nintendo Switch!! I would absolutely buy this game for the 18th time if you do!! :) And if you would be so kind, PLEASE bring Chrono Cross to the Switch as well. I would pay top dollar for both of these titles, as I’m sure would MANY others. Thanks, and keep up the great work!! :) :) :) :)

2.0 Update. I wasn’t really enjoying the game visually before the 2.0 update so I didn’t play for long periods. I can’t put it down now! The graphics and sounds are so much better and I love the added cutscenes.

Definitive Edition. Great port with amazing quality of life changes. Just one issue: in Extras, under Illustrations, you can view any picture, but when you tap the screen to exit that picture, the app crashes.

Bad overworld pixel art on at least iPad. As soon as you leave Crono's house, you see the overworld map, and it looks terrible. The tile grid is grossly obvious, because they changed the art and didn't bother to make sure adjacent tiles' pixels smooth together. It just looks like garbage, and you see it within seconds of starting the game, and it makes me think that no one who worked on this port cared. Because, if they did, such an obvious problem would have been immediately noticed and fixed. Chrono Trigger deserves far better than this.

IMO almost perfect, just one annoying bug. This has been my favorite way to play chrono trigger and love to be able to switch between my iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV seamlessly. The touch controls are wonderful, although I do prefer controller for the nostalgia. The one bug I have (I only noticed on Apple TV) is the text can be wonky and will finish before you can read it. Other than that I’d give it 5 stars!

An ABSOLUTE must play.. My best friend had told me to play this game for years and i had never done it. So glad that I decided to give it a try. My god was i blown away by the beautiful music, the depth of the characters, and especially the fighting! This is the best turn based game that ive played! Please do yourself a favor and get this game! (Chrono for smash bros ultimate!)

A masterpiece IMO. Heard a lot of good things about this game, and decided to fork up the money to give it a go. I absolutely love the game. No complaints. Story is fantastic, soundtrack is catchy, characters are developed well, and the gameplay is excellent. It’s definitely the greatest RPG I’ve ever played. I will most certainly be going through another play through.

Amazing Port, however.... Listen, I adore this game. The gameplay, music, characters and plot all are one of my favorite to experience of any game. However, I’d love if they implemented a fast forward mechanic as, later on in the game when you’re side-questing and grinding, the slowness of the game really starts to show. Maybe add it in the same way as the port for FFV did, when you press on AUTO, it plays faster. I’d be satisfied by that.

Up grades. Great game I have loved it since I was a kid I’ve played it so many times. All I want to know is if there can be like a speed multiplier or an exp. multiplier some thing to where I can get more done in the little time I have to play it. I have a job wife and kids but I love my game. Just a thought

Enjoy the Game, but Why No Sound Controls. I love the game so far, but I like to listen to podcasts while playing games with headphones. The fact that I can’t change the sound level is very annoying, as the silence switch does not affect app sounds when you use headphones. Would give five stars if this was fixed.

Thank you.. This is the way to port jrpg games. I prefer to play on iPad. When controller support is taken away from games that had were released them, it feels a little dumb to say the least. This game does it correctly. Thank you for the effort.

Update is awesome!!!!. Very happy about this update, everything I want out of the game is now available, can’t wait to sync my save from my iPad, and now I can play on my tv with my controller. Thank you for listening!!

What about the sequel??. Love this game! I found the adaptation to mobile devices as good as the original. The extra side quests (the reptite requests) felt a bit tacked on and not fully integrated with the rest of the game. When will there be a Chrono Cross app for iOS?? I’d pay to play that game on my iPad!

Greatest game of all time. The port to mobile is excellent. Not at all buggy, it’s the same experience with some great improvements: - Everything is a little faster: load times, warping, etc. shaved down a lot - Auto button: automatically makes your characters fight in a battle, simplifies most of the battles in the game tremendously Helpful note: took me a bit to figure out you can select who you are attacking/healing by swiping left and right.

Favorite Game of All Time. This was my favorite game as a child in the 90s. Being able to play it now is a dream come true. They’ve changed things here and there in the game (i.e. mystics are now fiends, language/dialect updates, item names, etc) but it’s still Chrono Trigger. Great story, unforgettably amazing music, classic JRPG goodness! Alternative endings will have you playing it over and over. Thanks for bringing it to iPhone/iPad!

Please remove the Exclamation marks. Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games and one of the first JRPGs I’ve played. I remember blind renting in back in 1995. I absolutely hate the retranslating that happened for DS and this version but I guess that’s where we’re at. I only wish that those chat bubbles were removed or at least make it optional. Also if controller customization was added to the settings menu like it was originally.

One of my favorite games ever. I played this game on SNES and it plays so well on the iPhone. I’ve replayed it so many times over the years and was so happy to see it available on iOS and have continued to replay it. For anyone who is a fan of RPGs I HIGHLY recommend this game. It is truly a classic.

Seriously a disgrace to a classic and amazing RPG. Edit: Still lose my techs when talking to Spekkio, update didn’t fix bug First, let me start off by saying this is my favorite RPG of all time. But even that does not make up for the spekkio bug, the horrible touch controls in things like the jet bike race and Death Peak, and the fact that after 58 hours I have to restart my files just to ensure I don’t let Magus talk to Spekkio. All because of a known New Game+ that hasn’t been resolved. I’d like my money back if I could.

Best version of the game.. Playing on an iPad is much better than the Nintendo DS because of the larger screen, and the enhancements makes this version better than the Super Nintendo version, and the PlayStation 1 which suffered from long loading times with its menus.

Thank you for updating the app. Surprised this game is still getting support from the developers, the only thing that would make this perfect is a crt filter

Fantastic JRPG. The game itself is amazing. The story is great, the characters are all pretty cool, the combat is fun. I wish they still made games like this. I occasionally have difficulty with the analog control, but other than that it’s been great. Played for one 10 hours already with barely any issues.

So much fun to play again. It’s really quite an experience to re-play this game in my free time and I admittedly appreciate it more than I did as a youngster, it’s a rich story, with unique characters, and great music. It was a perfect blend of creativity and execution when it was first made. Thanks for the team for releasing this on iOS.

Chrono Trigger. Will always love Chrono Trigger, happen to have every version. The iOS version is great too. Would love to see an update for the iPhone X for it to stretch from end to end of the screen instead of seeing black bars on the side.

Great game, one minor glitch/issue. I’m not sure why, but it’s hard to hit the wheel on the dragon tank. I can change the target to anything else no problem, but tapping that wheel doesn’t always work, and when I fail to tap the wheel, it thinks I’m locking in the default selection of the body. That wheel killed me twice because I just couldn’t attack it. Please fix this.

Timeless. I played this on the SNES as a teenager. I played it on the DS. Now I have it here, and play it on my iPad or iPhone. While the touch screen controls are passable, and do not break the game, there is nothing better than a physical controller. This game has the additions given to the DS version, and the graphics are smoother now that antialiasing has been added, and the sprites have been up-converted into high def. Being able to save my game in the cloud was a nice touch, for cross playing on any device. Now, Square, can we have Chrono Cross?

amazing vintage rpg. didn't get to play the original version of Chrono trigger but this has had one of the best storylines in a game that I've ever played, logged over 15 hours in my first week. absolutely recommend!!!

Fix text please!. Game: 10/10. A must-play for any rpg fan. Port: 6/10 Text sometimes lags, catches up and the text box closes by itself. This was first apparent right before the Magus fight. Sound sometimes skips, but doesn’t destroy the experience. The text problem must be fixed because it has closed textbook boxes with key plot elements before being able to read them.

Can’t turn off sound while listening to podcasts or watching video on same device. Like the title says you can’t turn off the sound. There are several threads going back years asking how to do this and there just isn’t a way. This is super annoying, I’ve beaten this game so many times, I just want to be able to watch a movie PIP on my iPad or listen to a podcast on my phone while I mindlessly keep plowing through the game. Will change rating if this gets updated.

One of the greatest. With an Xbox controllers it’s the perfect port. Purists are going to complain it’s “missing features” which is lame. It’s one of, if not THE greatest RPG, and I would argue greatest game of all time on an iPad with controller support. It’s done well and for the price you’ll get a whole lot of gameplay and story. Next to dead cells and castlevania this makes ios a legit gaming system.

A request. Loved this game growing up, a truly timeless classic adventure. If there could be an update that would allow the Voice Over accessibility feature for blind people to also play the game that would be amazing, as I have lost my eyesight and really miss playing games.

Works with the PS4 controller. First time playing this masterpiece. It’s a great time and works well with the PS4 controller. Also cloud saving allows you to pick up right where you left off on any device that supports it.
