Real Simple. You guys have been charging me for a year for this subscription, but I have never been able to read it without paying for a second time.

Great for on-the-go and travel. At first I also had problems logging in to the app, but unlike others who have given poor reviews, I called the customer service number and a nice man helped get my app running and continued to stay on the line until everything was resolved. It took no more than 5 min and I haven't had a problem since! One of the best things I like about reading my Real Simple Magazine on my iPad, is that some of the adds take you to a website where you can get more info or purchase a product! I would love it if I could click on the website addresses listed with items featured in the magazine so I might be able to purchase those finds too!

App not working. Love this magazine but can not get it to work on my ipad pro. So fustrating.

Just ok. I enjoy being able to read the magazine on the iPad without having a pile of paper with me. However, this app is lacking some features that paper offers. I miss being able to mark a page I want to go back to. If there is a way to annotate with the app, it's not clear to me. Also, I find that some of the features are not very responsive such as turning pages and scrolling where it is an extra. I have to try many times to be able to see the "scroll for more" features. More often, the pages turn as I am frantically trying to access these extras. I don't think it will be my preferred way to use the magazine unless some of these concerns are remedied.

Links. The page in the magazine with links to your website are not easily found in the app. I have to get to it from the web. Why not put QR codes on the page instead of the link so rates can get right to the article/ recipe/ ideas, etc

Not impressed at all. All the below is based around the iPhone app. I don't own an iPad so I can use those functions... Just got the subscription as a gift, and just signing up was more trouble than it should have been. The app doesn't even fit my iPhone 6. It was built for what it looks like, an iPhone 4. I'm also disappointed with the fact that it doesn't rotate and you can't view it in 2 pages mode as if you were reading a real magazine. I was also bombarded by ads and can hardly find the art led because of them! Very disappointed. We're headed towards a digital age and just because I signed up for the magazine also doesn't mean I want to take it everywhere I go like I do my phone, which is more convenient when I'm somewhere waiting and wanna read your magazine. This should be a priority and considering that the bigger phones have been out for over a year, I can see that it's not.

Updated app is the worst. Updated to the new app. Sorry I did. I have now lost all my issues that were downloaded. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. No good. If it wasn’t broken, why did you fix it. Very disappointed. If I can not download my back issues, I will be cancelling my subscription, until you can fix this. Disappointed user and reader. Have been in contact with customer support and they still can’t fix my problem. Have been sending them emails with info they requested and I still can’t download any issues, especially the latest issue. Why should I pay when I already have a subscription. Think I will not be renewing.

cannot access issues. i want my money back. i’ve gone back and forth with support 3x and still not able to get issues I paid for. My other magazine subs work fine.

Pay for the app via iTunes, cannot access new issues or restore old issues. Cannot chess any new issues or restore past issues, subscription to August 2023. Would like a refund.

Update erased everything. Wish I could give zero stars. Loyal subscriber for many years through iTunes. The last update erased years of downloads and cannot restore or get new issues (that I am STILL PAYING FOR). Ridiculous.

Excellent way to decrease clutter. The one thing so far is it won’t expand the page to read the smaller print on ads

It's ok. I like to mark or tear out pages in the print version and there's no way in the app to bookmark pages so you can easily find them later. Would be great if you could virtually tear out a page to save all the great ideas. Wish it had the functionality of an iBook such as increasing text size, zooming in on pictures and writing notes. Wouldn't it be great to have links to products so you could click and get more info or purchase it? If you accidentally click an ad, it takes you to a website so why not the same functionality in the articles? Will be keeping my print copies around until the app gets more functionality. Also, I don't like that it's not integrated into newsstand.

Great app. I was pleasantly surprised when I got an email from Real Simple letting me know that I could get a digital subscription for free with my print subscription. I haven't even started getting the print subscription in the mail yet, but I was able to look up my account with my address anyways. The magazines loaded without problem, and it is formatted beautifully. I really appreciate how easy it is to navigate through the magazine and jumps from section to section. I think it's easier and more fun to read the magazine digitally. The contents page has links that take you right to the article that you want to read. Great job, Real Simple. Other magazines could take cues from you.

Would like to give 0. Since the app upgraded all of my magazine issues have disappeared. I’ve been trying to sign in for months....doesn’t recognize my account number or email address. Couldn’t contact anyone because it didn’t recognize my email address so the send button was grayed out. Finally tracked back the charges on my credit card so I could figure out who to call....it’s the Meredith Corporation by the way. Was able to get through to a real, very helpful, person who verified my info...I’m not crazy after all...who then sent me to the ZINIO help desk. Have been going in circles with THEM all day. They had me input a new email address and password. We end up at the same spot “click on the digital+print subscriber button”. Where I am in accounts does not provide that option. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the Real Simple and ZINIO apps. But, hey, good news...according to them I have been a subscriber since 2011! Yay for me! No magazines...they are happy to take my money and I get a nice blank screen!

Would like more options. I have always enjoyed the print version often finding myself cutting great tips and recipes for later. The pages on the app are more beautiful than the print version and that is saying a lot because the print version has always impressed me. If I could change anything on the app it would be direct functionality with other apps such as Evernote, especially the Evernote Food version for iPad. I am still figuring out how to use these apps for a fully integrated web clip experience. Great job, but please consider additional easy to use options for saving your great tips and recipes.

Great magazine interface / icon badge won't go away. Love the app. Personally, I'd prefer it inside the new Newstand app, so that all my magazines would be together "on the shelves," but as is, it works, and the interface is perfect. Only one problem kept it from getting 5 stars: the icon badge showed up with "1," presumably to tell me the latest issue was available. But the badge has remained, even though I've downloaded and started reading the issue. Can't figure out how to make it go away, and I use the badges on all my apps to find all my "to-do's" to clear.

Great magazine, finicky app. I used to love this app (years ago when I had the print version with digital access). I recently canceled my print subscription and purchased digital only through iTunes. The app barely opens and it won't confirm my subscription. So irritated that I'm paying $3/mo and can't access my magazine at all now. ___________ UPDATE: After many, many tries, I finally got it to work. I had to access it on the device I'd originally subscribed on before it would then work on my phone. I'm not sure why it was so finicky but it works now, so I'm upgrading my rating to three stars. The magazine is great if you can access it.

Real Simple. Love the app

Could be so much more.... I was disappointed in this app. While I like the magazine's content, the app itself pales in comparison to other, similar magazines. Way too much advertising, for one thing. Other iPad magazines have a fraction of the amount of advertising...a real advantage over the print subscriptions, in my opinion. This app has pages of ads, with an annoying and jarring stop in the flow of "flipping" through the pages where you have to click to get out of the ad and continue reading. Also, the lack of clickable links within the articles...even within articles about items you can purchase online...is a real drawback to me. Where are the video and slideshows available in similar magazines? Why no Newsstand integration, so I can keep this with all of my other magazines? On top of it all, the price of a single issue is more than the price of an issue of these other magazines. I won't purchase another issue until improvements are made.

Still room for improvement. Overall I like having the magazine online. However, there's still a few things that could be better I've noticed just in the first few pages of my first magazine. Number 1 would be to make any websites listed as active links so we could go right into the website at that time. After all, we are talking digital. My number 2 issue is that, having an iPad, I'd like to have the magazine rotate all directions. Right now I have this site that requires one direction and another that requires the opposite turn direction. Minor I know, but still I'd like to see that change.

Love it so much!. As the mother/step-mother of 3 very unique individuals, life is never dull. Two of the children are incredibly resourceful & self-sufficient. The third (and oldest) either forgets that he has a project altogether or just doesn't care. Getting this child to do anything is the most stressful thing in my life. The battles span the gamut from his wearing deodorant to washing the sheets I purchased for him 5 months ago (and he hasn't laundered them not even once). THIS, my friends, is where Real Simple comes into the picture. Aided by the fantastic articles, checklists, demonstrative photography, plus the handy take-along apps, I am never without the calming influence that is Real Simple. While one very small corner of my life is in total chaos, thanks to Real Simple, the important parts of my family's life is fresh, comfortable and organized...all thanks to Real Simple.

Good start, but still needs work. I'm super glad that Real Simple finally has a digital version. That being said, I was kinda hoping this would be for the Newsstand app. Newsstand is one of three apps on my iPad that i cannot use and cannot remove from my home screen. So i was hoping that this would be in that format so that I could utilize that app. Overall good app, but could use some work. It freezes up on me a lot. There are some pages where the content doesn't cover the screen and you have to swipe your finger over the I,age to see the rest of the page. Also, I have to keep downloading the magazine every other to,e I use the app, which is a real bummer considering my Internet speed isn't exactly optimal. It would also be nice to be able to view the magazine in landscape mode, if so desired. I'm not really into a lot of magazines, but I like Real Simple because the title says exactly what you're getting before you even open the cover.

Didn't expect to be reading magazines on my phone. I never expected to be reading magazines on my phone, but when I saw that Real Simple was available on iPhone, I jumped on it. My kindle fire isn't great for magazines because the file size is so huge and it's always filling up, but on iPhone it actually works! The zooming is super easy so I can read it even though it's tiny compared to the print edition. I love being able to read Real Simple without shoving my rolled up magazine into my purse.

Real rip off. I’ve been a subscriber for years and just re-subscribed in December. No January issue? Contacted the publisher, contacted this app to learn that they have decided to do combined issues for this year. Requested a refund for the missing issues and was refused. Will dispute the charge on my credit card I have a receipt for 12 issues. Do not subscribe unless you want to throw your money into the trashcan.

Zero stars (but they made me give one star). Horrible, horrible, horrible. The old app worked just fine and the new one doesn’t work at all. The app doesn’t recognize my email address or my account number, and I can’t download issues. Multiple phone calls and emails have been fruitless. Nobody seems to know (or admit) that there is a systemic problem with the new app. The app’s company, Zinio, is beyond horrible. I keep getting emails assuring me that everything is fixed, but of course it isn’t. I see their responses on other reviews here telling people that they will fix everything right away—of course that’s a lie. I’ve spent hours on the phone and dozens of emails and it still doesn’t work. Real Simple really blew this one.

Worst update ever. As others have said, update the app at your peril. You will lose all your old downloaded magazines (which had articles and recipes I referenced occasionally) and you will face an uphill battle getting your access back. They were able to restore my account and some issues, but only the last 8. Also the email address that they set for my account is an old defunct email address that is a decade out of date. No way that I can see to update it. Also, for some reason my account number is different than what shows when I login on safari to manage my subscription. They’ve cut off the last digit without any compelling reason why. No response when I asked these questions. Real Simple support just seems to keep getting worse and worse.

NEW ISSUES. I have a paid subscription thru 2024 and cannot open up new issues, it’s telling me I have to pay for the issue… this has to be the 2nd most frustrating app since the IOS update. I’m getting no technical help at all … when I requested refund thru Apple I was denied for reason unknown. It’s bad enough I lost all the issues of Martha Stewart’s magazine that I had for years. It’s sickening when I see the celebrities who push there products, books etc that live like queens off people like myself who have supported them for years.

App not working. Despite the fact that I have an ongoing subscription, the App Library will only show issues up to November 2021. The December and Jan/Feb issues show upon the front page of the app but not on the App Library. When I try to download from the front page, the app tells me I have to pay for them and subscribe, even though my subscription is paid thru the iTunes Store til November, 22. I tried resetting, deleting and redox loading the app and still get the same results.

Can’t access my subscription. I haven’t been able to read my subscription for months. It keeps telling me that my email is wrong.

Might be the worst app ever. And also I’m not a big fan of the magazine overall with the new editor. This magazine has seen WAY better days :(

Cannot access issues on app. I’m having the same issues as everyone else. I cannot access my issues in the app without paying for them. I have a subscription,so I’m getting the hard copies in the mail, but I would like to use my tablet as well!

Keeps getting worse. Edit: Cancelled my subscription a few months ago. Couldn't take the buggy app anymore. My subscription will remain cancelled until the old app is back. Edit: And now I can't even stay logged in or download any of my magazines. Awesome... I've been subscribing for a long time and they keep changing the parts about it I like. I don't have room for the paper magazines at my apartment, so I rely on the e-version to get and keep my magazines. First they removed the calendar at the end, ok. And now, starting with January's issue, the text seems so much smaller with fewer interactive features such as highlighting one caption of a list at a time. I usually read while I'm on the treadmill and it's almost impossible for me to read now - I'm 28 with 20/20 vision. The table of contents also doesn't seem to let you jump around anymore making it hard to revisit articles I may not have had time to read. If the magazine keeps going downhill like this, I won't be able to justify spending the money on it anymore.

Great portability of an excellent magazine with few glitches. I love Real Simple magazine. Being a collector (subscriber) of various Home,Garden, Fashion, Photography, Architecture, Financial, and Travel magazines - I have often said if I had to pare down my subscriptions - Real Simple would be my first choice to keep. That being said, availability of an e subscription made it easy to keep the issues I love without the clutter. Downloading an issue was fairly easy - removing an issue was a little trickier as even tapping the issue for selection to delete would open it. Most of the links to websites for items in the magazine worked flawlessly (even links within those websites that were opened) and navigation back to the magazine was a breeze. Color quality of pages was almost perfect - had a slight "washed" quality to my eye (compared with other e versions of magazine that I have). Type size was reasonable for reading - and zoom was easy. All in all It was good - with one star deducted for pains in deleting issue, slight fuzz on colors, and glitchy website links (I am picky about my 5 star rating).

Still having trouble with iPad mini app. All of the issues available to me will not show up on my iPad Mini5. I’ve completed all the troubleshooting steps: syncing, restoring purchases, deleting and redownloading the app, turning the iPad off and back on ...nothing works. Can someone help?

Good, Could Be Great.... I love Real Simple and the fact that this app allows me to read digital versions at no extra charge. Suggestions for improvement: 1. The ability to bookmark specific pages instead of sections. If I like a recipe in a 5 page spread I want to be able to go right back to the recipe I marked instead of the first page of that section. 2. The ability to view all Real Simple bookmarks from the Real Simple library instead of having to remember which issue the bookmark was placed in. 3. The ability to click to navigate to websites listed in each issue. Another reviewer mentioned the need for WiFi in order to read the issues. I've only tried to read at home so far, but if this is true then that is a MAJOR disappointment. What's the point of having to "download" an issue if you do not have offline access to it? Readers definitely need the ability to read magazines while waiting or traveling away from a wireless signal they trust. I'll end by saying once again that I really love this magazine! I hope these features are included in future updates.

I pay for Real simple through the App Store for my I pad and can’t access new issues.. I like real simple and can’t access it through the app on my tablet honestly I want a refund my subscription goes until April of 2023 and it won’t restore my purchases. Waste of hard earned money.

Can’t restore issues. I’ve been a subscriber for many, many years and can no longer restore issues via this app. Please fix this.

My mini magazine on the go. I love the fact that I can have the latest subscription of my Real Simple in my iPad mini when I'm not at home and have my real magazine when I am at home. I can whip it out anytime, anywhere I can and want and there's features like: bookmarks, additional or related articles... But since the interface is so 'streamlined' you won't know how to navigate it if you skip the tutorial in the beginning. So don't skip the tutorial in the beginning. Other than that - I love this app! I don't have to roll my magazine and stuff it in my purse anymore! :D

Have to report a problem every month.. Every single month I have to report that my iTunes subscription is not working. What a pain.

Trouble downloading on iphone. Can’t download on iPhone

Simply the Best. Simple. Easy to use. Looks just like the print version but with the convenience of tapping features & being taken directly to the area of interest. It is a bit inconsistent with the purpose of Real Simple that I still get my hard copy, adding to my clutter a bit. Yet in these tough economic times I've been able to share my hard copy issue with friends, while I enjoy my iPad version - without the protective instinct I used to have when someone used to pick up my coveted hard copy. Kudos!

Newbie. First magazine app, couldn't be more pleased. However have not updated IOS and currently have access to prior month issues. That is a definite plus. Hoping what I read about limitations is not true. Easy to get to pages that interest me, great interactive additions not available in hard copy version. Agree with comment that a means to "pin" specific articles would be a great improvement to this app; otherwise I need to keep the hard copy subscription going. Come on guys, go a lil bit mo' green. So far thumbs up!

It's a Good Start. Glad to see this good magazine is finally available on the iPad. The interesting, useful articles and the attractive photographs and page layouts are there. I would give it a fourth star for better interactivity. Links within ads are clickable, but not within articles. [The "Gifts" article, for example, would be even more useful if the reader could go directly to the websites listed for each item.] I would give it a fifth star if e-subscriptions were available. To keep down clutter in my home and to reduce environmental impact, I am no longer subscribing to hard copy magazines. Having to buy this a single copy at a time is a bit pricey, especially when so many other magazines are making electronic subscriptions available.

ONLY ONE ISSUE AVAILABLE. I purchased a year yet can only access the current issue

Get it out of Newstand!. Had I known once I updated this app I would lose ALL of my old issues and it would be incorporated into Newstand, I would have NEVER have done it. I was thrilled when downloaded this app a few months ago that I could keep all of my old issues (which I still needed to catch up on) on my iPad so I can get rid of the hard copies - trying to minimize the junk around the house. Having not read the older issues, I gave them away since I had it all on my iPad. Now that I updated they are all gone and all of the original functionality of the app is gone too. You can see the controls at the bottom when you first open up the app in Newstand but then they go away and you can't get it back. WTH?! I'm deleting this app. What a waste! Real Simple, if it wasn't broke, why did you try to 'fix' it?

Really good app. I am really enjoying reading Real Simple on the iPad. I am a print subscriber and confirmed magazine junkie, so it is nice to have issues with me on the go. Glad to see that the magazine now shows up in my newsstand rather than as a standalone app. That is a big plus. The reason I gave it only four stars though is that I wish there were a way to virtually clip and save pages to Evernote or even just to the app or iPad. I like to save recipes and articles and now I have to quickly go through my print version and physically pull out the articles that I want to keep and then scan them into Evernote. It would be so great to save a step.

App not working. Can’t access latest issues despite having active subscription. Like another review, I see the covers but can’t read the content - the app says I have to subscribe, but I already have. Very frustrating.

Best Magazine. I truly enjoys he Real Simple magazine. It's always full of interesting, useful, productive topics. The App itself is a little clumsy to download. I use an IPad and to get the issue to download, I have put in my customer number, etc. There are a lot of ID #s and passwords that one has to memorize these days. Once I have a paid subscription, why can't the magazine recognize that and download new issues automatically? Ask if you want but don't make me jump through hoops trying to do what should be a "simple" push of a button. I get frustrated each month - there must be an "simpler" way!

not user friendly anymore.. 12/20 update: Well they updated the app again & now I've lost all my back issues, or must redownload them & I have to sign in over & over & over again, sometimes just to read the ONE magazine I have bothered to download. So now I've lost my back issues TWICE- so much for the iPad making this easier. At least the program used to remember who I was. Really now, it seems like a very inconvenient process- I think I may junk it & just stick with the paper magazine again. Not happy that the app has been incorporated into the "Newstand." all my back issues are gone (double boo). Does this mean I won't ever be able to keep them anymore? I don't want to go to the Newstand to read Real Simple- ridiculous to turn this over to Apple. If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

Beautiful. This app comes free with a paid print subscription and it veers very little from the print version. Having it makes it all the more handy for me to finish reading one of my favorite magazines. The colors and pictures seem even crisper on the screen than they do on the printed page and Real Simple is always a beautifully shot, uncluttered magazine, enjoyable to the eye as much as it is to read. Intuitive toolbar makes navigation simple. I cling to my magazines like an outdated dinosaur, but if they are all this perfect, I'm not so sure I need to continue adding to my monthly recycling heap.

Please update for Retina screens!. Pretty solid publication with some nice iPad specific functions, however the graphics and text look terrible on The New iPad. Please fix this issue soon, as Retina devices have been out for a while now.

Love the magazine, love the App!. I do not live in the USA, and I travel a lot - I love being able to read my favourite magazine wherever I am. Annual digital subscription is great value at less than US$2.00 per issue. Digital magazine is easy to read and easy to navigate.

Unpleasantly Surprised :(. I can't believe that Real Simple charges people for a digital portion of their subscription. The app is so slow, lags every time I click something, and errors at least once every minute or two. I love this magazine, it's top quality, I would hope the app would mirror that. Please fix the app or stop charging people extra to have it as an option. Sadly, it's not seeming worth the cost.

Wonderful!. Loved it! Finally get to read my favorite mag! I will buy each issue if it looks good. Hopefully I can browse it first to make sure I like what is inside!!

Great format. I love how easy it is to have all the issues on my iPad. Easy to use, fast...love it.

Needs Newsstand Support. Would be great to see Newsstand support added to this app.

Real Simple. I love this app. So easy to use.

Biggie app. Still waiting on customer service. Only ten pages of the magazine downloaded then everything stopped. I really like this mag but think I will cancel my subscription and pick up the old timey version at the corner store.

Phooey!!!. I am really frustrated with your tablet version of my favorite magazine. When I first downloaded it, it was GREAT. I wished all magazines worked so well. After updates, I am thoroughly disgusted. Can't download any but the one issue. Totally frustrating. Will never subscribe to this again. WASTE OF MONEY and my time.

So much more fun than a print magazine!. Yes, this doesn't appear in the newsstand, but the ease of navigation and functionality make up for it that minor inconvenience. I always look forward to the arrival of my Real Simple in the mail, but for some reason, my kids see me reading a magazine and feel the need to interrupt my quiet enjoyment. With this app, I can take five minutes now and then and review the table of contents, flip through particular pages, and enjoy the beautiful images in excellent resolution. I always have it on hand now and thoroughly enjoy it. I definitely recommend it for any Real Simple fan, particularly those with kids!

It works!. I followed the instructions to refresh the magazines and yes I did have to download them all again. Took me 14 minutes to download one year. I love receiving this magazine on my iPad and the interactive features are well done and easy to use. I love this magazine......*****

Access failure. I love this magazine, but after the most recent update, I have been unable to access my purchased copies or any new editions I have a paid subscription for. The info they have posted to remedy this problem is not working for me, and they have not responded to my inquiries. I would say, don't subscribe until they have sorted out their technical issues.

Newsstand?. Why doesn't this appear in newsstand? It's a magazine! I'm keen on keeping apps organized, and it is frustrating that it won't go neatly into the newsstand app. Please fix!

No Digital Subscription?. Maybe I just missed it, but there didn't seem to be a way to subscribe only to the digital edition. Why not?

New app is lame. I use to enjoy browsing through the weekly posts. This new format seems archaic in comparison

Awful. Hate the new app. Lost all my downloaded magazines prior to january 2012. Have to purchase again! Even the downloading does not always work. The waiting message comes on and then nothing. I want the old app back!!!!!

Great except can't grab info. When one has a print version of a magazine, one can lend it to a friend, so that they can use the info in an article. Can't copy anything from the Real Simple app, which is very annoying :-( Oherwise, I LOVE this app! :-)

REALGOOD. Great magazine! Very easy to browse through. Wonderful content. Occasionally a bit weird mind you – for example, a $1,200 silk jacket with snakeskin trim?? It's great having it on my iPad so I can browse whenever I want to.

No subscription?. Yes, I'm wondering why this isn't in the newstand as well. Regardless, I'm surprised they wouldn't offer a subscription price online, similar to a printed version. I've decided to stop getting print subscriptions to stop wastage & I've easily moved over to electronic subscriptions - in fact, in so many ways they are better than print (take your magazine collection anywhere to read anytime, stop wasting trees, etc..). Offer a subscription price through the app! I'll happily purchase it.

Great mag, terrible app.. Like others, I have had to download and delete the app several times on my iPad mini. I can pull up the latest issue no problem, but once it's open, I'm not able to access my library, bookmark any pages, or even do anything other than flip through the pages of the current issue I've opened. If I want to access a different issue, I have to delete, then re-install the app AGAIN, because I am stuck in a different one without having access to my library. great magazine, but terrible app. so for this reason, 1 star. If this problem was fixed, 5 stars.

Really NOT simple. While it is nice to have this on the iPad, it took me multiples times to load and then delete the app before I could actually get an issue downloaded.

Great Magazine. I love the magazine and I love the App, but it won't be perfect unless I can bookmark things I like and make notes for later! Also, I like the idea from someone else about being able to save favorite recipes on the iPad.

Great read, easy navigation. Always my favorite magazine, now one of my favorite apps.

Cannot download. I bought a yearly subscription and I cannot download August, please fix.

Great magazine app. I enjoyed features of this online magazine after being very reluctant to try it. The pictures are beautiful and I especially like the browse and favourites feature. This app would be perfect if I could email myself recipes.

Not worth even one star.. Can't download, tried starting over, lost my previous purchased issues. Worst customer support ever, seems that unless you ask a question that they like, they won't answer you. Don't waste your time or money. Can't even sign in as it doesn't recognize my email address. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Easy and very convenient !. Great app. No problems with installation or use!

Less than I'd hoped for. This magazine-app is a little clunky to navigate. Menus and page-overview is accessed by touching the bottom of the screen. Not a deal breaker, but different from all the other ipad magzines I have, where access is at the top. I've given the low rating for two reasons. 1. Issues from my paid subscription aren't available for download 2. Customer support doesn't recognize me. The app manages to successfully charge my itunes account every month for the issue, but is somehow unable to recognize me as a subscriber when I try to the customer support. Its a pricier subscription. Not worth IMHO for the what you get or the hassles in trying to access issues you've paid for. Pity, I quite enjoy the magazine.

Real simple. Great app, would be nice if I could save recipes on my iPad tho.

Where is the digital issue by issue or subscription info?. "and then you can buy each month's digital issue through iTunes." Oh yeah? Where? And if it's not true, then why not at least remove the text that says it can be done?

Real Simple. As someone else has mentioned already, Why won't the Real Simple magazine appear in the "Newstand" app?

Love it!. While this is a beautiful magazine in print, I love having a copy on my iPad to travel along with me.

Love it!. I have always loved this magazine, and now I have it at my fingertips every month. Very happy!

Crappy...Still. I just upgraded this app and discovered that I have to redownload an entire year of issues. I have clicked on "restore issues" but it doesn't work. It downloaded one out of 12 issues then stopped. For a magazine whose name is "Real Simple", this entire process is difficult and frustrating! I'm totally unimpressed :( Update: they updated the app and it's totally cumbersome. Can't access all my issues. Tried to download the newest one for an 8 hour plane ride, only to find out that they didn't "really" download and I had nothing to do on the plane for 8 hours. Real Simple? No, definitely not. More like Real Crappy!

Inspiring. This magazine inspires me to try new things, to become more educated about life and to enjoy life as I become more savvy about decor, food, exercise, etc.

Can't download. Just loaded the app on my iPad retina, it got about halfway through the December issue and stopped. Just keeps telling me to shut down the app and try again. Not impressed.

Useless... Real useless. After 10 tries to add my paid account info, and suffering the infinite loop of evil password reset and authentication codes... I give up. Keep sending me the 10 pound magazine and maybe let me know when you get it figured out... Oh yah, why are you not showing in newsstand like every other magazine I read. I am not sure why you asked me to rate on my 11th try... Here it is! Fuming...

It bugs!. ...so much! I can not even retreive my password. It says my email adresse is not valid! Very hard to get to my first edition!

New app doesn't work. I have a digital subscription and I can't access any of my magazines. I press restore purchases and nothing happens. So frustrating!!

All ads. Ridiculous amount of ads for a 1 paragraph article! What a waste of $5.

OMG SO MANY PROBLEMS. Needs lots and lots and lots and lots, get the drift, of work before I can even give it one star. Never ending problems trying to get issues to download. Some issues want me to re pay in order to download. One person in support tells you one thing and another one tells you something different. Wait till all the problems are fixed, if that ever happens!!!!!

Confusing. I've never done much with magazines for iPad but this one said I could get 2 months free to check it out. I already love the mag, but I can't figure out how to get the free monthly magazines so I know what it would be like on the iPad. All in all I've wasted my time and am just frustrated!!

Love it!. As someone else already posted, this makes it so much easier to keep up with my subscription instead of having stacks of magazines around that I do t have time to read while at home. beautiful app..feels just like I'm reading the paper-version of the magazine! I do wish that they offered just the paper version so I didn't waste the paper.

Love it but wish I could bookmark. I finally have an iPad and am loving reading my subscription electronically. The pages are crisp and beautiful. Others have been posting their desire for a bookmarking feature for over a year so I am surprised this app doesn't offer it yet. I would love a way to click on an article and save it to a recipe box or click on an article and save it to a "places I'd like to travel" for easier retrieval.

Real Simple magazines. I wish all my other magazine subscription apps were this simple to download. Love taking all my mags with me in my iPad, so neat and compact all in one digital, fit-in-my-purse library. As for the contents of this magazine, when REAL SIMPLE'S cover says "67 REFRESHING IDEAS TO MAKE EVERY DAY MORE FUN" it means they have an article inside with these 67 ideas, and you, the reader, don't have to sign your pay checks away for the next 6 or 12 months to get this information.

Efficient. Real Simple app makes life easier. It's much smaller than some other magazines I download, but with no loss of quality compared with the print version, that I can tell. Organization, shopping finds, inspiration at my fingertips. And with iPad's ability to take a photo of what I'm reading, I can save important information in a handy place -- at least until I update my iPad and lose it:(. Must remember to email the information to myself as I'm saving it.

Love the App but!***. This app saved my love for Real Simple. Moving out of the CONUS, it is hard to get mail within a reasonable time. Sometimes my paper subscription would arrive late or not at all. This app keeps me from the anguish of getting a subscription late. I gave it 4 stars only bc I can only use the app when there is a wifi connection. Does not help when you sitting for hours at an appoint or in a waiting room! Pls make them available offline.

Good, but could be better. I love being able to get Real Simple on my iPad. I've been waiting for this for a while. The articles are great, easy to read and the photos are vibrant. However, I wish the iPad version was more interactive (a la O Magazine) and that there was a way to share and save/bookmark interesting articles (maybe to Pocket). I may have missed it, but I can't see a way to do this. That said, being able to read Real Simple on my iPad is wonderful!

Deceptive and a new ripoff policy. I'd rather view this magazine on my iPad, and have for several years now as part of my print subscription. (Have subscribed since its inception!) I returned from an extended absence and sat down on the couch hoping for a pleasant session getting up to speed with my subscription. Hmmm. All signed in yet it was impossible to access my digital issues. Deleted, signed out, signed in, changed password wtc etc. Kept getting the message that I already had a digital copy. Aargh. I know that!! So frustrating. I then emailed and got this auto-message explaining their new greedy policy: We apologize for the difficulty that you have been experiencing with your digital access. We show that your digital access is no longer active. Due to the new way that our digital subscriptions are being provided to our customers, you will need to place a renewal order that includes a print and digital offer. You can place your order through our web site or contact customer service for your renewal options.

Real Difficult. I was able to download the app, add my account info, and download back issues. However, the app is pretty much unusable since once I started reading a particular issue on the iPad, no matter, where I tried clicking, swiping, dragging etc I am unable to get back to my library or access the table of contents. This makes navigation through the magazine annoying and the only way to go back to my library of Real Simple issues is to uninstall the app. I read the Newyorker, Wired, and Lucky on the iPad and have no problems with these magazines. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice to no avail.

Great Interactive App. Real Simple is an awesome magazine to begin with. It has great content which I actually consult quite often. The only thing I would suggest to improve the performance of the app is to be able to highlight or bookmark articles/products for easy reference later. Also, active links to products and websites would really boost my ability to shop as I read. All together, very engaging app. Super-fan of the magazine.

Nice interface, fun to use. The app is really well done and fun to read on the iPad. They've done a great job organizing content and optimizing it for the screen size. Content available by scrolling is clearly marked and the navigation bar makes it easy to move between sections. It would be really great if they add more interactive features, like links to buy the products online, or the ability to pin items to Pinterest, or even just bookmarking or highlighting items in the app for reference later.

Very Nice. I am loving reading this magazine via the app. Its informative and presents creative solutions to my everyday storage issues. I used to pick up the magazine in the checkout line of a large warehouse store but since discovering the app, I have purchased my first subscription and I anxiously anticipate re-reading this current issue and devouring the many more to come. Thanks!

It would get 5 stars if I could get iPad Only. It's the digital age and I realize some women love to have both a paper edition AND the "tablet" edition, but do us one favor and give us the choice not to mow down a forest. This rating isn't just for my Real Simple edition, it goes for all my magazines. I love the fact that I can carry all that paper in this thin little iPad 2. All my books, all my music, all my magazines & all my news. Let's give subscribers the option not to kill trees & carry all their magazines with ease :-)

Could be better. I love Real Simple and I look forward to it every month, so I was excited to see this electronic version available. I don't want the print subscription so I would love an e-subscription only as I have with other magazines. My biggest complaint for the e-version is there doesn't seem to be any way to bookmark pages or save recipes. There is no share or print option. Interactivity should be the next update.

Real Simple app not so simple anymore. I have enjoyed reading each issue of RS on my iPad, but the most recent update of the app itself just made everything more complicated. Help would have been nice - like knowing they tucked away a "restore all issues" button in the settings menu before I reloaded each issue individually. Yes, you have to reload all your issues. I also noticed that the e-magazine's "swipability" has decreased, and you have to have your finger in just the right spot or you get stuck on the page. I would've rated the old app 5 stars. This one could use a little tweaking.

What a scam! Meredith Corporation has no ethics!. I subscribe to Fortune, People, and Real Simple. Same problem with all 3 - I can’t access any of my magazines, with an account number or with an email address. After sending customer service an email, I get an email response saying in 24-48 hours my magazines will be restored, try to login. Of course - it doesn’t work. Yet, I can access my customer service page to renew my magazines! Meredith Corporation - you’re crooks, since we’re paying for a service and you’ve stopped providing it. We should all report this to the Better Business Bureau and see if we get anywhere - and waste your legal department’s time and money

Won't download November or October issues. I purchased a year subscription through iTunes and beginning with the November issue neither the November or October issue will download anymore. Contacted customer service at Real Simple and they told me to contacts iTunes who told me I needed to take it up with real simple magazine. Customer service from real simple magazine has not contacted me again after I sent them the reply from iTunes. iTunes won't refund my year subscription and real simple customer service won't contact me. So I paid for year that I can't use.

Not in Newsstand?. I had to disable the app icon notification because Real Simple was telling me insistently that I need to download the latest issue that I already downloaded two weeks ago. Why isn't Real Simple in Newsstand? Why can't we make bookmarks or clip pages/articles? Why aren't the articles and materials linked to the web? More interactivity, please.. Love the content and we definitely prefer the digital edition to the print edition. Thank you for recognizing your print subscribers as valid - too many publications are forcing their subscribers to pay again for the digital edition.

Very disappointed - will not download. Ever since the last software update I have been unable to download any of the Real Simple issues. The issue I had been reading fails as well as the new issue. All I get is a message that there has been an error, to close the app and restart it. I still get the same error upon restarting. I have even completely shut down the iPad and restarted it. I have run out of ideas, and do not know who to talk to for help. Nor do I have the time to do an in depth study of various websites to find someone to resolve this issue. Before this issue started I was very happy with the magazine and excited for each issue.

Great mag not so great app!. This review is for the app only; Absolutely LOVE the magazine! Echoing the sentiments of many others: Great magazine, but the online version desperately needs to be more interactive such as filing articles by category (recipes, health etc etc), ability to access 'starred' articles from an archived issue without downloading that entire issue all over again, highlighting or jotting notes within a specific article, perhaps also a pin-it Pinterest feature?!

You had me from page one. I have been readingRS for 5 years and give a gift subscription to my mom each year and when done give it to a friend. This is one of the best mags I read. Well written, very eclectic and interesting stories. Great recipes, and heartfelt stories that make you think about others. Can't wait to read the next issue. Keep up the good work! Kat, Connecticut

Real simple App. Love this app but wish you could read it horizontally or vertically, but it only allows you to read it vertically which is flat for me. Can't read too long without getting a neckache. I also tried using the favorite tab, but it didn't work. Otherwise it's great! I wish all these apps, though, would allow you print a recipe or a coupon so you wouldn't need a paper copy at all.

Awful!. The new Real Simple app was released for use long before it was ready! I am a long-time Real Simple subscriber--since the premier issue, actually! I was excited when this app was announced for my iPad. I followed the directions, downloaded the app and verified my account. I was very hopeful that I finally had a convenient way to use my Real Simple magazine without carrying it with me! But sadly, not so! This app has found "an error" each time I've tried to download the e-magazine. After several attempts, I have given up until the errors in this app are corrected in a new version! What in the world happened to Quality Control in the workplace?!?

rip off. I bought a 2 year subscription to the print magazine with the understanding that I would be able to access the emag on my iPad (I travel a lot). Suddenly, I am unable to access the electronic version. No explanation for why I can't log in. So I go to the website and determine that if I "upgrade" my subscription (pay more), I can get the electronic version. Maybe those who had already purchased a subscription should have been grandfathered in the end of the term. Oh...I did not "upgrade" and I will NOT be renewing my print subscription. A shame. I liked the mag, but think this was sleazy.

Very needy app, pita having to sign in, reload, etc.. Here we go again. An app wants to be updated. But first, you have to sign in again (looks like you need the subscriber number, or your exact address, from the label or the email address, which is also case sensitive -why?), and sign in (oops, now you can't be authenticated), oh, then you have to download the issues AGAIN. Is this really necessary? Guess what, I don't want to waste any more time on this tonight. Magazines are supposed to be a relaxing pass time, not a time hog that leaves the 'reader' irritated. Print doesn't cause so much hassle.

New real simple app. So far, not a big fan. I don't see anything that has improved over the old app, but I now have a problem: can't get a "scroll for more" to work at all, and like everyone else, I find it a huge inconvenience to have to RE-download all of my previous issues just because RS decided to "upgrade" their app. I also see that in the Options/Settings area, it asks if I want to turn on Auto-archive -- nowhere can I find a description of what this does! What was wrong with the old app? It worked fine!

Great mag but can't log in. I have read and loved Real Simple for many years. Decided to get it for iPad, but after downloading the first issue of my subscription, I haven't been able to log in. Maybe I'm using the wrong password, but whenever I try password retrieval, after submitting my email address, it tells me to enter a valid email address. My email address is valid, so this makes no sense. Tried they"report problem" link from iTunes but it just takes me to the general iTunes site and I don't know where to report a problem specifically with Real Simple. Disappointed and frustrated. :(

Getting Authentication message. What is the problem? I have uninstalled and reinstalled and still get the "cannot authenticate" message. I have signed in with account number as requested. I'm very disappointed in the app...I love my other digital mags so I know it is possible to do it right! I was forced to rate this ...I would have rated it a zero if that were an option. The above continues to pop up when I hit "write review" ...it is an old review....although I'm still disappointed ...it takes several attempts to access the digital version and I had to enter my password several times.

Good App. I initially had trouble signing in even after setting a new password. I gave up for a couple of days and was then able to sign in. I have enjoyed being able to read Real Simple on my iPad. The pages look great and I love being able to navigate to various websites from within the app.

Favorite magazine. I love real simple magazine. It's my favorite magazine. I've been a print subscriber for a year or so and when I got my iPad, I was so happy to find this app. Now I can take my issues everywhere I go and switch from issue to issue without taking multiple print copies with me. Very intuitive interface on the app. I just wish there was a way to opt out of receiving my print issues in the mail. I'd still pay and just use the app and it would be so much more environmentally friendly.

REALSIMPLE on New iPad. I love this app! I am new to the tablet world, and this was the second magazine app I installed. It has been trouble free and amazingly intuitive. I read the other reviews, and did not have high expectations for this app. I did think it was worth a try since I have a print subscription. I was very pleased and suspect that the recent updates have addressed some earlier complaints.

Great app!. Great app. The entire magazine is here. I can travel light(er), finally. My only complaint is that it was a bit confusing to load. I downloaded the app from an email alert from Real Simple. Instead of letting me just download it ( I take it the email verified I was a subscriber), I had to go through the whole log-in process. But once I got in- wow! You all did a terrific job!

Needs Bookmarking, Highlighting and Notes like iBooks. I love being able to tear out pages of my magazines for future reference! If I could bookmark a page in this app that would at least remind me later about pages to tear out of my print copy when it was convenient. Highlighting would be great, too! Some method to mark or make notes for future reference would earn 5 stars from me. Now it is 3 because I love the content but am frustrated with the app. Not as important, but....I would like it to appear in Newsstand.

Nice app...could use a few upgrades to make it great. I love having this electronic version in addition to my hard copy. It seems like some already downloaded issues don't download fully and then have to be downloaded again which is a bit frustrating. Would love if the websites listed in the magazine hyperlinked to the external web pages and also the ability to highlight or bookmark certain articles, sections or pages.

Broken. My real simple app straight up doesn't work anymore. I absolutely loved this app. Then it was updated and changed so you have to open it from newsstand. But that's my very small complaint, everything else about the app I love. Now it's started a new thing where I open it and it's just black, and there's o buttons to push, or anything I can do. It's just black. Is there a way to fix this? It's a problem because I love real simple magazines (the love started with the wedding one when I got engaged, haven't been able to stop since), and I'm paying for the magazines. Once this is fixed I'll send 5 stars right to you.

I'm going in circles trying to use this!. Bought Real Simple subscription and signed up for free tablet edition. 1st issue loaded fine. When I tried to load next edition, I had forgotten my password. My reset email did not come to my mail on tablet, so it was not until I could get on a PC that I could reset password. After I finally got signed in, I downloaded Dec issue. Then I wanted to go to library to see all issues I have, but cannot get a library "button" to show up. I am frustrated, and thinking real magazines are much simpler than this.

Updated App Problem. I am having the same issue as others. I have reached out to RS customer service. They instructed me 2 different times to delete and reinstall even after I told them it didn’t work the 2 times I did before even contacting them. They then informed me that they changed my password and were able to see all my issues. When I signed in with the new password and waited for the app to update as instructed- still no issues. The purchase button never changed to a download button. This was 2 days ago. Very frustrated.

Could be a great app. But its missing some key parts. When I used to get a paper magazine I would go thru and mark/bookmark pages to go back to, including recipes. Being able to copy recipes would be a big plus and if that's not possible, at least being able to mail or share a link or save a page as a bookmark so I wouldn't waste paper having to print it off. I have to login from a PC to do any of the above. Wastes time if I have to use two machines for same results

Thanks for all your hard work!. I love how you are trying to stimulate my brain (keeping the Alzheimer's at bay I guess) by having me scroll through tiny pages each time I finally make it to the magazine to find the article I was last reading! Also kudos for keeping my fingers nimble (arthritis is a serious problem; Real Simple told me so.) by having me retype my email & password repeatedly to prove that I do indeed have a subscription! In all honestly I'm sure lots of hard working people somewhere spent lots of time on this update but maybe next time work out the kinks before rolling it out to the public. Thanks!

Love it!. Pics are more clear and beautiful than the print version! Would absolutely love it more (& would rate it 5 stars) if there were links to every website referenced, listed, etc, and if I had the ability to file articles or pages in a folder for future reference. I'm confident they are working on these types of upgrades, but if not maybe they will now! :-)

Variable. IF and WHEN you are able to log in, it is enjoyable to read offline. As other reviews have stated, there is, more often than not, great difficulty in the log in process. Endless circles are exactly the right description. Overall, I'd rather just pick up the magazine and read it. For travel, it is nice to have it available. They just need to straighten out the log in process. Yesterday it couldn't recognize my account number or street address, but I somehow ended up with the issue downloaded anyway.

Great magazine...minor complaint. Love this magazine. Great content and the digital version is done really well. It feels special and isn't just a scanned copy of the print magazine. Minor complaint...The Real Simple icon that appears in the Newstand shelf has been the special Wedding issue for SEVERAL months. I'd prefer to see the cover of the current issue, so I can see the newness. Seeing the Wedding cover feels SOO stale - especially since I'm not planning on getting married any time soon.

Really Great!. I subscribe to this magazine and am psyched about this app. I got my iPad like 2 days ago and put this app on, and I've already read so much of my most recent magazine. I really like the print version but I'll probably actually read more of it with this rather than just flip though the pages. There are a few bugs still and it lags a little, oh and my issues only go back to December but I've had the subscription since at lease last June so that's pretty lame.. Overall, awesome!

App is ok.. I keep trying to zoom in on an item or article and that doesn't seem to work with the standard 2 finger pinch. Is it possible the app doesn't have that function? Seems to have tons of links imbedded for reference, which feels good and bad. It is a great, although expected, feature. Even with so many links, there were still some missing for me. Overall, I love having RS on iPad, so it's an ok app and I'll keep hoping for improvements in updates.

No access to what I’ve already paid for. Just adding my voice to the many people commenting on the failed upgrade. (Also kind of wondering if they know anything about testing new apps) I think that it says a lot about what they think of their content that they imagined their readers will spend more than 30 minutes trying to restore the app access for content they’ve already paid for. I know that this is probably not all real simple’s fault since I have similar challenges with other magazines through iTunes but nonetheless, it is ridiculous to be unable to access my subscription.

A magazine worth it's gold!. Real Simple is one of those things that gives you the feeling like "you're missing something" when you miss an issue, didn't buy or subscribe, or just haven't taken the time to read it. I'm a long time reader - both as a subscriber and as a buyer from off the magazine carousel. Can't believe I can now enjoy it straight from my iPad and smartphone. How cool is that!

Great with reservations. I love how the app follows the print version but I have similar complaints that others have voiced. I wish there was a way to dog ear or bookmark things I see that catch my eye, perhaps a way to share on Facebook or pinterest? What about links to email articles to friends or to share? I love this magazine and love reading it on my iPad but feel like it could be so much more with this digital version. I hope the developers take these things into consideration with updates.

Real Simple, even more delightful to read. I love this visually delightful magazine and am thrilled to have it on my iPad Air. The app is designed in such a way that makes it an ever more creative adventure. As always App Store offers a convenient way to subscribe. I'm not always able to get to the store to purchase or even walk out to mailbox. Plus, I don't have to struggle with getting them out to the recycling bin. Thank you for making my magazine reading Real Simple.

Good app. I think there was a recent update and it seems to be working really good. I'm not experiencing any problems. I had to get used to reading a magazine on the iPad. I like the way this is interactive with captions and scrolling, like a pop up book. How nice not to have to jump somewhere else for the end of an article. I love this magazine from the content to the great design and feel of it. 👍

Stick to print. Considering that this app was made for iPad users, it's completely impractical to require a second device to check your mail when you forget your password. Whenever you click on the 'I forget' link, and fill out the information, it sends your email a temporary password - so temporary that when you switch apps to check your mail for the temporary password, the app forgets what you were doing, and makes you start over with a 'invalid login' each time. Very frustrating for something supposedly real simple.

Hate the new app. Before, issues downloaded in seconds. Real Simple was my standard by which my other virtual magazines were judged. I used to really appreciate how efficient the download process was. Today, I'm hating the process. A 70M file now takes 15 minutes or longer & I am forced to re- download all 2012 issues one by one. I won't renew my subscription if this awfully frustrating issue recurs. Frankly I'm not sure I will go thru the trouble of downloading all my issues. So next time the app changes will I have to download all a third time? I will walk away and never look back if that's the case.

Please wait! Real Simple Magazine app comments loading...
