This app is lacking and onstar can’t fix. I purchased my second Chevy bolt recently. The app worked great for my previous one but this one not so much. You want a view your diagnostic and tire pressure …it claims it can’t do it without you turning the car on. However it did it just fine for my other bolt. Oh and by the way I drive my car almost ever day yet it tells me it hasn’t been started in 3 days. The best one yet … it keeps telling me I have no oil and to get it serviced right away. It’s 100% electric… there is no oil. I told the dealership that I purchased from they tell me to call Onstar. I spent over an hour on the phone with them to tell me they have to place a ticket. I never heard back from anyone. It’s been over a month. Love the car! The app is great for pre-conditioning and alerting me when my car is charged etc. love that part. Just confused how the app worked perfectly for my 2019 bolt but doesn’t work so well with my 2022 bolt. With todays technology… this should be an easy fix.

Last update. Love the app but after last update the vehicle status is not updating very well. I would like to update this review. I deleted the app and reinstalled it after I submitted the review. The reinstall went really well and all my information was reinstalled after I logged back in. The app seems to be working fine now. I got a response from GM the day after my review asking for more information. This prompt response is just one more reason why I have only bought and owned GM vehicles since 1976. It’s also why I went from 4 stars to 5 stars on my review. I currently own own a Chevy Volt and really enjoy it. My father and son also own Volts. They are very pleased as well. Just wish they were still produced. Thanks for the fast response and years of enjoyment 👍🏼

Not dependable. We just bought a Chevy Bolt two days ago, and for two morning straight we can not use the app to start the car in the morning. The app reports “Service Unavailable”. Later in the day, the app works just fine. When you rely it most, it can’t be trusted to work. Very frustrating. I have tried uninstalling the app, rebooting my phone, all with no luck. Yes, I can start the car with the key fob, but we should be able to rely on the app working as designed. Zero for 2 days so far. I’ll keep trying. If it clears up, and works going forward, I’ll update my review. **Update** The past 3 days of using the app have been successful, and I am pleased with the results. I don’t know if the app was offline for maintenance the first 2 days, but seems good now. I will update my rating to a 4 at this time and will give it a bit more time before adjusting again. If the issue was a maintenance thing, maybe there can be at least an email notice of such going forward. I will say I am new to this app, so maybe things had not fully baked with our account.

Useless app. I’m a loyal GM owner and consider myself an early adopter and tech savvy. The old version of this app worked very well and provided what I needed. The new version of the app is horrible and completely unusable. On iOS on a new iPhone 12 the app rarely remains up and running more than 30 seconds at a time. It’s highly unstable and usually takes a dozen or more launches before I can get status of my car. I have restarted the phone multiple times, I have restarted the app repeatedly, I’ve tried logging out and logging back in, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Nothing will make this app stay open longer that 10-30 seconds. It has become a tragic burden that I can’t use my fancy app with my fancy EV. Please please please GM fix app stability!!

Remote Link. I have had my 2010 Chevy Silverado brand new from day one. I’ve always used my remote link for the convenience of checking my tire pressure, oil life and maintenance. Most of all I used it to start my truck and to make sure I locked my doors on many occasions. Within the last three months my app had stopped working completely. I had no access to anything I normally checked. Come to find out after a dozen phone calls to Onstar, they changed the software and now my truck is no longer equipped to communicate with this app and can not use the remote link service. Why not keep the vehicles that can use these features on the same system and do something different for the newer vehicles. In my opinion, this is just a ploy to make you buy a new vehicle. Yes my Truck is 11 years old but it only has 80K miles and is in excellent condition. Makes me very angry to have something taken away from you that was used regularly and not be notified ahead of time. Sincerely, Nolte

The Chevy app update is crap. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the old version of this app. You tap a button and it works. This new app needs to go. Now instead of just tapping the button, you now have to hold the buttons to unlock and lock your vehicle. If you don’t hold it long mouth it won’t do anything. And you have to literally lift your finger to see wether or not you held it long enough which makes you have to start over. Update this. A tap is sufficient enough to start, unlock, or POV your vehicle. If there’s an emergency or if someone is after you in a parking lot the last thing you Amy to do is hold a button and wait to find out if your going to get mugged or if your car is Going to open in time for you to get into it and lock it. Please update this issue it could save someone’s life and it’s really annoying when it’s no an emergency. Ppl are paying good money To have this app expecting it to be easy to use and be somewhat quick on the button activation on the app. It does take time to send the signal but still sending it should be easier. The old version was awesome as this one is other than the button operation. I would give 5 stars if fixed for sure! —owner of a 2020 Chevy Silverado 5.3V8 4x4//

Ridiculous load times, can’t connect to the car most of the time. The old version of this app had its issues, but at the end of the day offered valuable info for Bolt EV owners to plan routes and remote start. Since the recent 5.0 update however, the functionality of the app has taken a huge hit. Nearly every time I try to connect to my vehicle to check location and charge or to unlock my doors, the app loads for such a long time that it would be easier to just look for my keys. The load times have always been an issue, but with the new update the app fails to connect to my vehicle most of the time. Even if I’m willing to wait out the load time, the app fails to connect to my vehicle 9 times out of 10 and I’m left looking for my keys. The trip planning feature of the app is brilliant and super helpful for Bolt EV owners, but since the update the app is unable to connect to my car to help me plan my trips. Please fix these issues because this app has so much potential to be helpful, but right now it’s unusable!

Nice idea, tons of bugs, no resolutions. I have had this app since I started my lease and at 1st I loved it. Then something changed. The app got very glitchy but usable and I still loved it. Then I got an Apple Watch for Xmas and the app got SUPER glitchy from that point on. The watch app would make me put in the pin 80 time and only give me 2 seconds to type it in. Sometimes it would take commands but never actually send them. Then it got worse, it began to crash a lot. Called support and they fixed it for about 3 days and then new problems appeared. The watch app would LOG ME OUT or randomly disconnect me for no good reason. More of the same issues but now much more frequently. Now marked with the newest update, there is only a 25% chance the phone commands will work without a full crash. The app crashes literally all the time now and the watch just keeps saying I’ve been logged out. Tech support keeps saying reinstall but that doesn’t fix it and I’m fed up. VERY disappointed for a PAID SERVICE!

App was updated to be far less useful. The old app had more features One thing that has changed is that you can no longer see how far away your vehicle is from your current location so for instants if somebody else is driving the vehicle and they’re coming to your location you can no longer see how far away they are and what time they’ll get there another thing that has changed is you used to be able to leave a mall or an airport for some event and you could say find my vehicle and then it would give you the little arrow like Google map stuff so you can walk to where your vehicle is it also tell you the distance you are from your vehicle it no longer does that at all so that that is totally gone and there’s just so many location features like when you find my vehicle now it doesn’t even tell you the address it’s at so just good luck for that where the hell tap kind of pointlessBecause now it’s just a dot on a map with no address so good luck even trying to Uber to your freaking vehicle if you borrowed it to somebody or if you parked there at the airport or just any any reason you want to know the location of your vehicle address not showing anymore pay they took away some of those features it’s just awful now it’s almost useless it’s just a app that you use to remote start locking unlock your vehicle and other than that it’s pretty freaking pointless

Useful app for Bolt EV owners. I haven’t had any issues with the app and I use it literally everyday. As a Bolt owner, the app allows Preconditioning (similar to remote start) and access to charging options. One thing missing from the charging options is the ability to set the maximum charge state and to change from “Immediate” to “Departure” and set times to charge based on utility costs. It would be nice to be able change the maximum state of charge from the app (e.g. set the maximum SOC from 75% to 100%). It would also be useful to be able to not only change the charge mode from “Immediate” to “Departure” or “Departure and rate” but also to set the departure time and the times to charge based on utility rates within the app. Currently, Bolt owners can only set the maximum SOC and time of departure from inside the vehicle via the built in display. The app does allow changing from 8amp to 12amp if you’re charging the vehicle with the supplied Level 1 charger. You can also change from immediate to departure (with or without priority charging) but that’s all that is accessible with the app.

Keyfob is missing from my updated app. iPhone SE 2020 on iOS 14.4.1 Use to have great experience with the virtual remote keyfob. This feature has totally disappeared from this new app (version 5.0.0 in App Store). I know I'm supposed to get the lock/unlock/start on the main screen of the new app (as the screenshots of the redesigned app show in AppStore), however, all I get is - on the top half of the main screen: "vehicle status schedule service and track your vehicle's maintenance schedule" and on the bottom portion of the main screen I see the following: "looking to customize your vehicle? tap shop accessories to discover ways to enhance the appearance performance and capacity of your vehicle". Then it gives me an option to tap on "Shop Accessories". I've tried everything, deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times today, Was on the phone with an advisor for more than an hour and we couldn't figure it out so she ended up creating a case... funny thing is that I do have sort of back door trick to lock/unlock/start my vehicle; when I long press the app icon it gives me a dropdown list of options, deleting the app, start, stop, lock, unlock.. when I click on let's say lock, it takes me into the same above mention main screen where I don't see the remote but it does lock the vehicle after a couple of minutes. Something's not right with this update 5.0.0 Please correct this as I really depend on the virtual KeyFob in the app. Thanks

From an employee of Chevrolet. This app is pretty cool! I love the push to start feature on my phone and the convenience of having that feature and locks and lights as well on my Apple Watch is even cooler. My friends and family with BMWs can’t even do that. Props for that. One thing I’d like to suggest is that you connect more with the preferred dealership in regards to keeping your service records and major upcoming services intertwined. I work in the service dept at Arroyo Grande Chevrolet and I think it would be beneficial to the customer/ dealership providing the reminders through the app. Also, the push to start on the phone app is not working properly. I hold to press as soon as the apps opened, but then it continues to say hold. I end up having to release the button and then on the second attempt it works. Also I’m always getting a notification for unexpected problems in the app and to update. But I’m updated with iOS and the myChevrolet app. What’s up with that? Thanks for the cool app. 😎

Nice on phone; poor on watch. This app is incredible on the phone. It far exceeds another very reputable automobile manufacturer’s attempt at the technology. Specifically, the data on my 2018 vehicle systems including servicing interval status, tire pressure status and recall issues is useful. The remote start and remote locking and unlocking are excellent features on this app that really should be available on all significant brands (although it is not). Sadly the Apple Watch technology is, by comparison, in its infancy. A fun feature would be to talk to the watch to remote start or at least unlock the truck. But even pushing the virtual buttons rarely enables the function attempted. Specifically, locking or unlocking give a yellow indicator that seem to show the system is trying but it may lock/unlock one time out of 20, regardless of WiFi status or tethered phone proximity or status. I only keep the watch app on the watch in hopes that it may one day be as reliable as the phone app. If there was a way to rate the apps separately, I’d rate the phone app a solid 5 stars; the watch app 1 or 2. Hence my rating here. I look forward to significant improvements going forward!

Junk. It had worked occasionally yet very slowly. My use was primarily to remote start (e.g. it is 1 degree f today). I have deleted and reinstalled it before to try to get it to perform (when it did work it usually could not locate my vehicle even when I was standing next to it trying to unlock). So, a few days ago I again deleted and reinstalled. It recognized my Colorado and Cruze yet was devoid of any information, even mileage. This is a new scenario and it is worthless. I am putting new batteries in my hand fob and checking out the Ranger (after a lifetime of Chevys). Update: I once again deleted and reinstalled, this time my info was back as well as the e-fob, I tried to start it and it surprisingly worked. I’m sticking with a 1 star as this is the most frustrating app I have used. Let’s see if it works tomorrow as it will be below 0 temp. Update: I went up to 3 stars. My last delete and reinstall seemed to work. It’s been a week since my last time so we’ll see how it goes, it has been working consistently now.

Great app. After a minimal delay on obtaining the right information of the app not connecting with the car, I do have to say that the customer service was just amazing and respectful when I had doubts on what could be the problem. I will say that I’m thankful for not only this app but more to those who work in the background of Onstar, the core of great care and customer service unlike any other service provider for your safety and needs. The one feature I enjoy, their is always someone on the other side of that little blue star button on your car and on the app. Truly worth it. They not only are their to help with common issues but are always their to help you be safe and stay safe in cases of emergency. Thank you Onstar and this app for making my new Chevy experience an amazing one. Keep up the great work.

Disappointing. Just wanted to be able to remote start the car from my phone. Activated on star, thank the heavens it’s a free trial, if I was paying for this garbage, I would be really upset. Every time I open the app, it defaults back to the message about driving a “safer and more connected vehicle” by activating OnStar. Yeah tried that, would be great if it actually CONNECTED. Ok, but I can at least see info about my car. Nope, the main thing I would love to see about my EV would be charge level, and when charging at home info like the current charging speed and estimated miles gained would be great, but no such information to be seen. Well at least I can nickname my car and honor my three year olds daughter’s wishes, to name it Lily. Surely such a simple feature as updating a String in whatever database is being used, or keeping it in UserDefaults would work, right?Wrong again. I’ve renamed it three times, only to find it reverted back to the default. The one redeeming quality is that the app design isn’t trash like most first party American car manufacturer’s websites. The one star in this review is for that team, pat those guys in the back and give ‘em a hearty high five.

App works but slowly. Apple Watch useless.. The original My Chevrolet app was better. This one it’s very, very slow. It has to stop and think (run API calls) for everything, even if it has nothing to do with communicating with the vehicle. It’s workable, though. The dapple Watch is useless though. There are at least fifty other reviews complaining about this over the past two years and the developers clearly don’t care. Almost every single time I try to use it, it tells me I need to sign back in with my phone and select a vehicle. That’s wrong because the phone is still signed in and the Watch app itself lets you select a vehicle. But when you try, the phone app only loads a blank white screen. You then have to force-close the phone app, re-open it, sign back in, and then try the Watch again. What’s the point if I still have to pull my phone out every time? Plus, when the Watch app finally loads, it only sends the command to the vehicle maybe once every ten tries. The orange icon appears to show its trying, but nothing ever happens. I don’t mean to be insulting, but I would think a multi billion dollar company could hire better app developers.

Update: Still not able to stay logged in. I still have an open case with OnStar to address the problem. That was early January, I was told three days snd someone would contact me. Still no luck. The app constantly logs itself out. It worked fine on my iPhone 11 but my 12’s longest log on has been less than 48 hours. I attempt to open on my series 3 watch, it says I must log in on phone, I open app on phone and it’s just a white screen. I have to close it and log in again. I have deleted and reinstall multiple times. I have changed the stay signed in setting multiple times hoping to fix it. Nothing works. Now it has become so frequent that I have to log back in almost each time I use the app making it almost useless. Someone please help 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, iPhone 12, I watch series 3. UPDATE: do not bother calling onstar about the issue. The staff emailing seemed to want to help but when told to call in to further troubleshoot I was met with an employee who was condescending and not willing to help. Her only response was it isn’t our system it’s your equipment.

Errors in App Shopping for Accessories. Frustrating. Signed into the app to shop for floor mats. Tapped shop, it asked me to sign in even though I was already signed in, I did then it flipped to a screen that said I was automatically signed out because I timed out. Again it asked me to sign in, but I could see at the top that I was already signed in. Once again it flipped to the screen that said I was automatically signed out because I timed out. It said continue as guest so I selected that. It took me to the accessories shopping and I could see I was signed in because it had my name and total rewards points. I selected my floor mats and applied my points, entered my credit card info and placed the order. It clocked for a minute then popped up a message that said there was a technical error and to try again later. I checked my credit card account online and there was a charge for the purchase that I was told didn’t happen. So now I have a charge and no order information. Is this 1998? You would think in 2022 this app would be sleek and flawless. How can this app be such crap? Is this the best GM / Chevy can do? So what hoops will I have to jump through to get my money back for the ghost order this app placed?

Epic failure on Apple Watch. This app works okay on the phone, but they shouldn’t say it has an app for the watch. If you can ever get it to work on the watch, it takes multiple times. I’m at my vehicle before it does anything. Lately, it doesn’t work on the watch at all. Not one function of the remote will work. I’m also upset, although not surprised, that they have begun to charge for even the most basic use of the app. And it is not cheap. I’ll be leasing again soon and if it is a Chevy, I will stop using the app rather than pay for it. Update 2/7/20: I received a response from GM today and although it was nice to get a response, their suggestions were ridiculous and insulting. They told me to update my iOS and watch OS and finally, remove the app from my watch and reinstall it. My devices are always up to date and the uninstall/reinstall rarely works, which it didn’t. I actually tried the app this morning and as usual, it did nothing. The app has NEVER worked properly on the watch, it’s frustrating, and I deleted it after trying it earlier today.

Useful, but could be better. I solely use the Bluetooth Keypass feature on my Bolt. It’s useful for when I’m close to the car but can’t see it (me in the house with the car in the driveway) to get confirmation that the doors locked or pre-conditioning actually triggered, or to check charge progress. Older versions of the app didn’t have the login screen when you open the app, but the latest versions do. It now takes considerably longer to get to the key fob commands than before. It would be great to go back to not having to skip the login each time I open the app. Also, on iOS 13.4, I have the issue where I open the app and it goes to a blank white screen. I have to force close the app, re-open, and then it lets me in. I then have to tap login and skip login to get to the Keypass features. Both issues appeared with the app update. Also, it would be amazing to have integration with Apple CarPlay’s EV routing feature, where the navigation gets range data from the car and automatically routes through charging stops as needed. This would put the Bolt on a much closer level to Tesla’s in-car navigation.

Family sharing. Family sharing does not work. My husband linked a new truck to this app and then invited me to family sharing. When I created my account and attempted to join family it seemed simple at first but then it would not let me access anything via required pin and sometimes password. I would enter the info and it would either tell me to try again or just stay on the same confirm pin screen. Tried several attempts to change and the app would not recognize. My husband attempted to contact service and again unable to resolve the issue or direct us with steps to rectify the issue or even let us know if it is something on our end. Then said it would take 5 days to hear something back. Good thing I am not stranded on the side of the road somewhere or locked out of my car. Please know I do not like to give poor reviews however just spent over 2 hours to navigate this app that does not have any troubleshooting assistance within. Very disappointing.

Don’t bother. Just use the phone App. Sounds nice, until I have to use it. I especially wanted the Watch app to work because it would be convenient. I remote start my vehicle often because I don’t like to run it cold. If I take the watch off, and randomly even when I don’t, I have to log into the phone app all over again for the watch app to work. Here’s how it goes. I’m already logged into phone app. I try to use watch app and it tells me I have to login to phone app and select a vehicle. I open the phone app (where I am already logged in) and it loads to a blank dark screen. I have to force close the phone app and launch it again. Then, I now have to log out of the phone app and log back in. Then I have to enter my pin and ask it to save it for use with Face ID (which had already been set before). Now, I can start my car with the watch app. OR, I can just go straight to the phone app and remote start my car in one click. NOTE: I have tried uninstalling both and reinstalling both more than once. At one time it appeared to resolve the issue but that was short lived. I have set all the necessary setting in watch and phone to save my login/pin etc as well. :(

5.0 Update Buggy. The new 5.0 app update is very buggy. It will NOT switch between vehicles on the account. It crashes every time I try. Old app I could switch no problems. Other features don’t seem to work right or fail. This update is very much in need of fixing. [Update]: After removing and reinstalling the app. It finally loads my garage and lets me switch between vehicles. It keeps giving, randomly, an error that states “Unexpected server response. Please Log On again. If issue persists, then contact support for Assitance.” The only problem is I can’t pinpoint the issue. When it does this it acts like it can’t connect to the vehicle but it does and processes things but the Home Screen of the app doesn’t update. Closing out and reopening the app or changing cars fixes this issue. But again it’s not all the time. Hoping for some bug fixes in the next release and a notice that you have uninstall and reinstall would have been nice on the front end.

Great for basic tasks, still has a lot of work. The most recent UI update is great and has really brought it into modern design. That diagnostic features a cool. And haptic feedback and animations are intentional and intuitive. The additions of the following would make it flawless!!! A graphic of your car on the dashboard. Faster startup and authentication with biometrics. Display the current status: whether it’s currently locked or unlocked, what is on and what is off, if it’s currently in motion or not, doors and windows open or closed, which seats are buckled, has the car alarm been triggered. Car alarm notifications. Ability to see and change current climate settings if remote started: temp, fan speed, heated seats, heated steering wheel, A/C, heat, direction of air, defrosters, wipers. What is there is well refined, useful, and reliable. But the potential this app has can set this app apart from the rest if further developed.

App still useless for navigation. I have been using this app for almost 4 years and it is still only good to sometimes to see tire pressure and fuel level shown in percent- use to be in gallons. The navigation sent to vehicle still only sends the turn by turn instruction or a blank map-not both, it has never worked properly so I always punch in the destination by hand in the vehicle and get the turn by turn directions along with the map route shown. The map is necessary because sometimes the turn by turn leads you to blocked roads so the map is needed to navigate around those situations. Too bad the developers don’t understand real road conditions and give the driver information to avoid bad situations. So the app is useless for navigation, also never can can’t get any of the traffic conditions to show on the map- have tried Onstar and Sirius neither worked- their tech support said to get the newest infotainment system— I think I will- in a new Audi!

Not Worth It. Edit: still a terrible app. Reduce to 1 star. I’m done with GM and their products. In my opinion, this app is not worth the space on my phone. I would give it no stars, but since the remote key fob usually works, I’m giving it 2. Aside from the remote key fob, this app does not work as intended 75% of the time. I’ll refresh the app to show my vehicle diagnostic and get “- -“ instead of numbers for fuel range, fuel remaining, oil percentage, etc. even after turning on my vehicle or having my vehicle connected to WiFi. Also, for at least the last month (even after removing and re-installing the app) I keep getting asked to “agree to new terms” each time I open the app even though I select agree each and every time. This app certainly has potential! It would be nice if it could act COMPLETELY as your key fob so that I could just take my phone and wallet and leave my physical key at home. I’m sure with the connected services that this app and OnStar provide that my phone should be more than capable of being my “key” as well. Tesla, BMW, Audi, and other carmakers are already employing this technology, why isn’t GM?

Latest Upgrade is Terroble. The vehicle status screen is now just a white page - won’t display status of anything. The menu from the top right just shows a black page with a close button. Hopefully the electronic functions in my new Tahoe got a better look from QA than this app which is complete crap. Update 4/13: after deleting/reloading the app it worked for a couple days. Now it’s back to totally broken. The developer responses are laughable. Like, “Oh no, what’s not working...” Really? There’s a couple hundred reviews, most 1 star, in the last 3 days describing what’s not working. But to some it up, pretty much EVERYTHING is not working. Lastly, as the Director of Software Development & Integration for a $4B company, I can say this is a complete catastrophe. The whole QA team should be fired. Whoever was the architect that came up with a design that requires the user to delete and reinstall the app should join the QA team in the unemployment line. There’s no excuse for that in today’s world. Netflix can run 2,000 plus updates a day and the users don’t even know it happened but GM can’t update a phone app. 5/1 Update: app is still terrible. The only way I can make it work is to delete it and reinstall it and then only some things work. Here’s the worst part. I got a message asking me to email info. I did complete with screenshots of the problems. That was about two weeks ago. Haven’t heard anything back probably because it’s all lip service; they don’t really care.

Useful App features now require payment. I’ve been using this app, and a related OnStar app, since I bought my Chevy in 2017. For five years it’s been immensely useful to be able to check the charging status of my EV remotely, especially in situations where I was paying for parking or for charging. Last week I found that the new update seems to have locked these features behind a paywall. Honestly the new design is confusing - if they’re trying to entice me to subscribe to some OnStar plan, they’re not making it very clear. But judging from the app’s clumsy phrasing and other reactions to the upgrade I’ve found online, my best guess is that this is not a bug but an intentional (and intentionally obscured) shift from freely offering these features to requiring a paid subscription. Really all this means is the app’s become useless to me, and the Chevrolet brand has lost a little more of its appeal. I intend to hold out for one more app update in case this is truly just bad design/programming and not a cynical ploy to squeeze money out of a captive customer audience, but after that I’ll just delete the app and do without. But it’s extremely disappointing.

It’s ok, less connected than expected.. The app is ok. The fact that you can essentially use your phone as an extra key fob is nice. The thing is, it’s missing some features that seem a given for such an app. Like charge level of the car, keeping track of mileage, and a few other stats. You must enter in the mileage manually each time to find out if you need to set up a service appointment. It seems easy to either have the app automatically update when connected to the car or have it remember what you put in last. The former would be more convenient. It feels like the app is just useful enough to have on the phone, but not so useful to regularly open and use. I also suspect that there are features that are locked behind the OnStar pay wall. I am not keen on another subscription or similar service. There are already too many pulling from my wallet.

Road Trippers Beware. This app alone will not get you to where you are going with the route planner. It looks like it will work but it DOES NOT account for variations in the battery life like temperature/speed/etc. I recommend using this app in conjunction with an app like PlugShare or A Better Route Planner to effectively find chargers along a planned route so you don’t end up stranded on the side of the road. Today we filled up at one stop, and then before we could make it to the next planned stop, we had to detour to an emergency stop or we were going to lose power on the side of I-95. Additionally, many of the recommended stops were Level 2 chargers that add a significant amount of time to a planned trip. My recommendation is to use PlugShare to find higher voltage charging stations to get you to your destination with as little charging time as possible. Good Luck on your adventures! We are currently in route from Orlando to Richmond with only minor issues.

Great app. Update……. I’ve always love this app and then as my review says things changed I was not able to start my car without having to hold the button in for up to five minutes. Now it only happens within seconds! I am very happy with it again. Thank you for the adjustment. The only thing different now is I am not able to lock or unlock my car using the app anymore .. i’m hoping that changes. I am changing the one star rating to a four star rating :) I got this app back in 2018 when I purchased my vehicle and I absolutely loved it and raved about it. About a month ago when you guys did the new update, it takes forever for you to hold the button to get it started. There’s times I have to hold it for up to 5 minutes before it will start rather than just tapping it like before. I hope this changes

Updates=login all over again. Both the previous OnStar app and the new MyChevrolet app have a truly annoying tendency to lose all the info one has previously entered after updates. We don’t need to use the app daily, but when we do it is often for an important reason, like remote start or unlocking the doors. Go to open the app, and it makes you update before using. Do the update, and all acct info has disappeared. Re-entering the user name/password is bad enough, but today I also had to re-enter the *!&#* VIN! So if I’m in a situation that feels unsafe and want to utilize the app in an emergency, I have to hope that all the login information hasn’t vaporized YET AGAIN. I should not have to add “Make sure the MyChevrolet app is working and I’m still logged in” to my pre-travel list of things to do! This has been on ongoing problem with the old app and now with the new app, despite asking the app to “remember me” with each login. And yes, I had previously switched to the new app and logged in already. An app update should not lose all your login info and preferences.

Buggy, Crashes, and Disappointing. I pay about $14 a month for this app and it rarely works. I always get logged out and it says, “unable to receive account details.” When this app does work and allows me to log in it crashes constantly. With the recent UI upgrade I expected good things. When I hold down the button to start my car the app just crashes. It takes several minutes to view my vehicle diagnostics. It’s so infuriating. I’ve tried closing the app and reinstalling, but there is always a new issue. I used to pay a little extra to have my car be a mobile hotspot, but it takes so long for the WiFi to start. When I get in my car I have to sit for about 3 or so minutes before my phone is able to connect to stable internet. Speed varies from 3 mbps to 20mbps. So it’s basic at best. Whenever I reach out to customer support it boils down to: “Lol, just turn it off and turn it back on!” Or “Oh wow, we will send a stronger signal to your car!” Neither of these work. Clearly there is an issue on their end. Something is not working, but since it does work for a certain percentage of people they aren’t addressing the issues.

Good but a couple of suggestions. I own a 2017 Chevy Volt. The Volt has been very reliable and except for a shift to park linkage issue, it had not given me any trouble. Until today. My wife was driving the Volt home from work when she got an error message, “No propulsion power“. Now you would think that between the app which is connected with OnStar service, and my car, it would send some kind of an alert to me via the app that there was a problem. My wife was kind enough to call but without that notification I would not have known there were any issues. On the app itself, it says no issues found and that all systems are good to go. Which is kind of funny given the circumstances. So there seems to be a rather limited vehicle diagnostic feature in the app and that is unfortunate. The app does have a vehicle locate feature which is very nice, but again I think there could be an upgrade here where if you are calling OnStar for a tow, it would be nice if OnStar could send tow information directly to the app. Even better would be the ability to track the location of the tow truck via the app but since were dealing obviously with third parties here, that might be too much of a stretch. AAA can provide that; I can track the tow truck enroute to my location. Something I’d like to see available in an app like this, especially when you are paying for the OnStar service.

Big step down from MyFordMobile. Not sure why the app keeps asking for opinions when the the ap has been so terrible for the ye plus I’ve had my Bolt. The app seems to be designed by people who don know about electric cars…or cars in general app capabilities, I was looking forward to see what Chevrolet would offer. The Ford app is fairly dated, and doesn’t appear to get many updates anymore. However, the my Chevrolet app is a huge step backwards in terms of functionality, ability to view vehicle data, trip history, charge history and car status. the Ford app would readily show trip history, power used on each trip, how much was battery and how much was gas, etc. The Chevrolet app is much clunkier, and after a great deal of searching and plodding around a less developed UX, simply doesn’t seem to have a third of the functionality I came to enjoy with the Ford app. The kicker...the Ford app was included with the car, GM is expecting me to pay big $$$ monthly for this after a one-month trial! No sale. App is also NOT optimized for iPad. For a paid service this is unacceptable.

Last update broke charge settings. I used to be able to start my Bolt EUV charging with the app so I could get an earlier charge when my car is using delayed charge mode for right before departure time. However, the most recent update seems to have broken this capability. It shows the car is plugged in but not charging, but the button to “start charging now” is no longer there. In addition, the L2 charge settings control don’t seem to work. First, the charge setting mode always shows as unselected in the app. I set it to “departure mode”, then I turn on “avoid high rates” slider since that’s how I remember the car being setup like before, but in the app it shows as off. Anyway, after sliding it on and applying, it says “command sent to car”. However, next time I check it in the app, the charge mode is back to unset and the “avoid high rates” setting is back to off.

Chevy doesn’t trust you to not be an idiot.. Chevy regressed to bend to idiots that apparently “accidentally” remotely started their vehicles. How that was a problem, IDK, but they say that the press and hold function was added as a “safety” function because of feedback that people were accidentally starting or unlocking their vehicles. How that’s possible is beyond me. You needed to open the app, enter a pin or face scan, then go to the remote screen. The new “update” requires so much, and makes you press and hold, it’s useless for someone with full hands, which was why someone wanted to use it in the past. Every review on here cites how “feedback” prompted the update, yet all I see are complaints that they “solved” a problem that didn’t exist. Moreover, there are no florid reviews from grateful customers who had armies of uselessly idling engines. It’s yet again how manufacturers are shoving one-size-fits-all down consumers’ throats and they don’t really care about what your feedback is, or what you really want. Just like 2x15 minutes is the max time it will remote start,(and living in the northern plains in winter, that’s totally inadequate) they don’t trust you to control your own equipment.

Horrible updates. I used to like this app until the updates that were supposed to enhance the app. Now it takes a very long time to load, the navigation is more unnecessarily complicated than previous version, the map is hard to see now that it is dark mode (black with white lines as streets), navigating the other options is tedious and scheduling service through the app does not actually schedule service at the chosen location. I scheduled service, given a confirmation of my appointment and when I got to the dealership they had no idea of my appointment and couldn’t fit me in for service that day. It’s extremely frustrating to have to use this app! I don’t have built in navigation in the car and depend on this app for that. Now I can’t. It’s far too difficult. Checking my cars status is easier than navigation but not as important given that I can retrieve that information quickly and easily in the vehicle itself. I don’t need to wait 4 minutes for the app to load and refresh. There isn’t another app choice for my Chevy but I am considering going with Waze for navigation. I suggest you do too and skip this Chevy screwup.

A bit torn. Sounded great, the presentation was awesome. The reviews on here all made it sound like it was the bees knees... but then it wasn’t. I just got a second hand 2016 Chevy Volt, wonderful car regardless of the futility of getting the app working let alone finding out that Chevy/OnStar decided to change their terms and conditions apparently as of November to no longer include the “3 years on us” basic services... but wait, the app was updated in December and maybe the developers weren’t informed because when you select the “get connected” button, it presents you with the promotion for the “3 years on us”!! It even tells you some of the key features, like controlling your range extended electric vehicle’s charging features!! Even my previous 2016 VW e-Golf included that for 3 years because someone thought that knowing your charge state without having to walk to your car was important! So, yes, in order to use any part of this app or any feature aside from the diagnostic reports and electronic manual, you actually have to sign up and pay their outlandish rates. At least there’s no contracts! That’s a plus!

Aggravating. I TRY to use this app daily. I use the app/Alexa/remote to start my ‘16 Silverado every morning. Then, when I get to work, I TRY to use the app to lock my truck about an hour later. Some days are great! I press the icon on my Home Screen, select Start and the process goes smooth. A majority of the time however, I have to log back in, and go through the entire setup process, other than entering my vehicle info. I have had to delete and re-install the app a few times in just the last week or so. This has been brought on by the unlock or lock command still showing “sent” when I last used the app about ten hours prior. I use the app instead of my fob, so that my truck is heated/cooled by the time that I arrive to drive home from my work site. Sometimes, the lock or unlock feature are immediately executed, but usually I have to wait a 30 seconds to one minute, regardless of whether the WiFi is on or off. My cellular service is at the same signal strength all of the time, but the app operation is still not consistent. I won’t even go into the functionality of the Apple Watch app. If I keep my phone, watch and app up to date all of the time, then why do I have to log back in almost every time that I use the app? As far as the Apple Watch app, why bother when it tells me to log in using my phone every time that I try to use it. PLEASE, fix this app! Thank you!

It’s okay. Helpful but could be better.. Negatives: 1. There is no “Feedback” within the app, or if there is, it is extremely well hidden leaving no intuitive medium to report bugs, crashes and errors; as well as no intuitive medium to submit enhancement requests. 2. If there is more than 1 alert and 1 of them has suggested maintenance, you cannot see the list of alerts being triggered; so if your tire pressure is low and your oil is at 28% life then all you can see is that you need to schedule an oil change. You are disallowed to see anything else. Positives: 1. Remote start from my phone is cool. 2. Remote start when I’m out of the country and don’t want my fuel to settle or want to scare my adult daughter is fun. 3. You can see your dealerships information so it’s easy to avoid their crappy service department to find another instead. 4. You can manage your points and some on-star things.

Handy and intuitive. At my job I work in a console vehicle all day and run the risk of getting into an accident or losing my cars keys. So I leave my keys in my locker and this app allows me to do that and still have access to my vehicle. I love the diagnostics! I was recently planning a vacation and was able to sit in the comfort of my home and see when I needed an oil change, schedule one if it was needed and see my fuel level to know if I needed a little extra time to gas up. When I had the limited trial WiFi it showed me how much I was using so I was able to gauge if getting the unlimited plan or limited plan was right for me. Remote start using the app has been amazing I don’t have to guess if my cat started because the app tells me. If f it says “sent” and you scout the app you’ll receive a push notification it started. A nice touch is the accessories tab instantly taking my to a webpage showing accessories compatible for my truck. My critiques the Apple Watch companion app is a little finicky and doesn’t always execute my commands, I haven’t really gotten the locate feature to work or the navigation through the app. None are a big deal the watch is a minor inconvenience, “location” my phone tells me where my cars is parked in the maps app and navigation I have a cell phone. Overall I’m very pleased with the my Chevrolet app, looks great and very easy to use. A lot of features I didn’t expect like my trucks owners manual.

BROKEN LOCATION SERVICES AND FILTERS. Dealer Location services don’t recognize Puerto Rico and St. Thomas zip codes (website doesn’t either), and default to some arpitrary Detroit location - useless for locating vehicles at a specific dealer. When actually locating a dealer to search inventory, it shows “2 vehicles”, then when you click on one of them, it reverts back to a list of vehicles in the Detroit area! I WANT TO KNOW THE INVENTORY AT THE SELECTED DEALER ONLY! That’s why I selected that dealer. And fix your list of zip codes to include PR dealers and St. Thomas dealers. Good grief! The updated app description stated that you can “shop for eligible vehicles”. Apparently you can’t shop for a Chevy unless you already OWN a Chevy. That eliminates the majority of people who are shopping for cars. I’ve owned a dozen Chevys, but not at the moment. Thought I was in the market for one again, but apparently not… I’d like to be able to view commands with apply to the EVs, but I can’t access the users guide for the app until I register a vehicle. Clicking on “Continue as guest” does NOTHING.

Remote start & navigation disappeared!. 10/25 - Right after I left my last review I started getting an error message saying I didn’t have a plan & I couldn’t use any features. Right around the time I got a response from the developer the app started working again. I use this app every day to start my car and use the send navigation to vehicle feature a lot. If you are having issues try deleting it and reinstalling or logging out and pull down to refresh it when you open the app. I have the Guidance plan that includes navigation but after the last app update the navigation option disappeared in the app. I was using the send to vehicle option just fine until the last update and considering all the people who are complaining on here that it also disappeared for them I would say it is clearly your app update that messed it up! Please fix it and I already called Onstar and all they could do is put in a ticket for the issue. Please fix your app because it worked perfectly before your last update!

Update never reached QA. New updates shouldn’t be release to the entire public for beta testing. Yea it puts a pretty face on it and a “safety” feature to make you hold the buttons. However, Checy should go check with Ford on how to properly implement the hold as its miles ahead of what has made it into this. Their service is also free! Hold the button for a upwards of a minute and it acts like it works then tells you to keep holding it all the while not working. I’m still not sure how people were accidentally pressing buttons such as the reasoning provided for even implementing this. You have to authentic to the app after all. Either way how did they get this so wrong and released publicly? Couple that with having to delete the app every few days as it becomes unusable. All features under more go missing is just one problem. Leads me to think I just need to cancel my subscription or may just finally get away from Chevy all together. Drastic I know but with all the advances in other brands and problems with this SUV, straw that broke the camels back comes to mind.

Needs work. This is not a terrible app. But it has three critical flaws that are easily fixable. 1) with the last update, there is now an unloveable “shop accessories” ad that has completely knee-capped the app. Virtually all of the actual features of the app are behind this overlay and it cannot be closed or removed. What’s especially annoying is that there is already a shop accessories tab. If we wanted to shop, we would. Get rid of this so we can use the app again 2) the app is designed with a “family sharing” feature. However, this does not work at all. We tried everything to get this to work for days before finally being told by customer support that “it doesn’t really work” and just sign into one persons account across all devices. If you can’t figure out how to make it work, then get rid of that as an option. Preferably, you figure it out. 3) there is no status on features of the car. I can lock or unlock the car from the app (when those feature are not being blocked by the shop accessories overlay), but 100x more often I want to check to see if I did lock it already. It would be soooooo much more usefully to indicate if it was locked or unlocked. If you’re going to fix that, you may as well other things like adding tire pressure or perhaps if windows are down if that’s possible. Pending those fixes (number one being highest priority), this will be a great app and worth 5 stars. As it is, I don’t recommend it

App overall and need for more. Generally speaking, it’s a pretty good app. It’s been stable for me. Not sure why it logs me out from time to time, but I suspect there is some sort of timeout feature after so many days not opened. I was at the GM dealership this morning, and the advisor asked if I had an extended warranty, which I have Chevy’s (v. 3rd party), and he asked if I had the information. I did not, but asked if it would be in the myChevrolet app. To my surprise, the app doesn’t have 5is information nor does it have a place for me to re odd it anywhere. (Notes field or something...). Additionally, it would be great if the app was able to push alerts about service items. Ex. You’re approaching your 75,000 miles service level. Select it and it will tell you items which are typically serviced at that milage and have an option to schedule from the notification your service appt. Keep in mind that the app should ALSO know what items have been done prior to the 75k service in case you had them done ahead of schedule and only recommend ‘actual’ things needing done. If the app is tied into to GM and the dealerships from a service perspective, I want to be able to search my service history to see what was done when. I do have faith in my advisors to tell me truth, but I trust and verify!

It’s just ok, What needs a fix.. I’ve had my Chevy Colorado for a year now and pay for additional On Star services. I enjoy the knowledge that if a sudden crash occurred or I spot another roadside emergency with others On Star is there as my 911 go to for help. I don’t like the upgrades to app covering tracking my vehicles location. A slow down in tracking my own vehicle on the app has occurred over the last years upgrades. If I purchase a higher plan On Stars would coordinate with law enforcement to track my vehicle not thru or with me. I used to be able to add into the app when I performed service on my truck. I used to track when I put on upgraded equipment so I had a quick reference to everything on my truck. Can’t do this anymore, disappointing! On the other hand basic unlock, sound horn, and remote other item, if installed are a plus. Over all app is good! It was better but the dealers lose money when I perform services. Use the app it’s still a good app but could be great.

UPDATED: Geolocation of vehicle no longer working. I gave the following feedback yesterday. The App was corrected and functioning correctly today. I also received a personal email informing me the corrections had been made. **Rating 1 yesterday / 5 today. Thank you developers!! ——————————————————— Until today, I have been able to “Locate Vehicle” from anyplace whether I have been driving or not. That way I always new where either of them are regardless of where I am or the vehicles are. Today that function went away suddenly and my only choice is to ‘choose’ a location on a map that forces to my personal current location (phone location). For instance; my 2015 Traverse is currently located in Nashville, TN with my son. I am in Albany, GA on W Doublegate Drive. When I refresh the “Parked Location” of that vehicle it places it where I am; NOT where the vehicle is!! This is absolutely NOT what I need from the app and service! Fix it ASAP, please!

New update doesn’t work. Worked great until the 5.7.0 update. Now the start button doesn’t work. Have most updated IOS and app version. Worked fine night before I updated and doesn’t work now. All other features work. I will change my rating once I’m contacted directly to troubleshoot or the issue is corrected. Tried the app support link but just takes to the chev website

App not working. Just bought a 2024 Blazer and downloaded the app. What a disappointment. Can’t start/stop my vehicle nor can I lock/unlock my doors with the app. Contacted Chevrolet and they connected me to onstar to try and fix it. Onstar couldn’t fix it so they connected me back to Chevrolet. It’s been over a week now and still nothing. Not impressed with the app or the customer service.

Fords is free and more useful. Happy to delete this cash grabbing fear mongering app for the wealthy after the trial. Ford app is FREE and one touch it remotely starts our truck from inside the hockey arena so it’s warm before we get to the truck. Tells us where the truck is on one touch button opens the interactive map. Tells us service stuff like gas and km to empty, oil life, tire pressure and diagnostics, yep one button for that info. Two clicks to get destination overview, user manual, send directions to vehicle, walking destinations, contact a guide and ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. Ohh wait, the list goes on. Schedule start times, call dealer, email or chat with dealer and did I mention it’s ALL FREE EVERY MONTH! GMC you are acting like a hotel that still charges for wifi local phone calls.

Only works half the time. You guys need to stay on top of this app. I pay good mo et to use it. And it only works half the time.

Watch app is POINTLESS. I don’t know why there is even a watch app. Every time you use it, you have to sign in with your phone. ABSOLUTELY POINTLESS

Informations. Depuis l’installation de cet application j’ai un problème la moitié de mes informations sont en espagnol et malgré 2 appel à onstar et parler à des techniciens il semble incapable de résoudre le problème d’où ma grande déception de cette application

Awful. Doesn’t work most of the time. Press and hold Start button and screen goes black and just hangs until you tap somewhere on the screen and it goes back to original screen without doing anything. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling with same results. Had similar app for Buick and worked much better.

Garbage. You cant ever restart your truck whit the app if you get a fail start it gets stuck on fail and its done you can’t ever start it again The real fail is this app

Crap. Ever since this app got an update it works maybe 1 time out of 10. I may aswell delete it off of my phone that’s how useless it is

Hardly ever works. The start button frequently doesn’t work! Have had to uninstall and reinstall several times to get it to work. Tried again this morning and shocker it doesn’t work again! Probably going to cancel service. The old app worked much better.

App. I like the old app better rated than a 5, this one does not always start . Sometimes the bottom says failed from the time before. Not impressed thought it was an upgrade but mire hassle to start my vehicle.

Cant go to remote menu???. After the update i cant get to the buttons

Still need update on app !! Sucks. Have owned my new chev for almost a month ! App still not working! Pisses me off cuz I had this kind of app on my ford for free for over 5 years! Gotta love technology that sucks!

App. This Need to revamp the app to show active running status and just catch up with a modern times the vehicle history status reports vehicle health history etc.app is terrible,

New version much worse. Previous app worked fine, not great but fine. This new app is complete garbage. Nothing loads or updates, lose of functionality, and crashes constantly. Useless.

App doesn’t work on Apple Watch. I am not happy that the app doesn’t work through my Apple Watch. I have the latest version of the app. I have my watch updated to latest software. My watch is series 3.. so it’s pretty new. Yet this app does not work 😑 too bad. On my iPhone the app works fine and I use it often. So I would give that portion a 5 star.

Siri door lock?. Why not include Siri access for locking the doors. You know for the times your hands are full walking away from the vehicle and you can use your watch to request Siri to lock the door?

New ford next.. Should of kept this free for 5 years, as it was on my 2015. My next truck will be a ford because of the new “2 month free” garbage.

MFA broken. The MFA gives an error when trying to login. Makes the app unusable.

Doesn’t work!. With new update, there isn’t even an option to lock, unlock or start my vehicle?! For a billion dollar company this is bullsh&t. Come on GMC. Ford’s are looking more desirable every day!

Was supposed to be free for 10 years. When I bought the car I was told this app would work for free for 10 years. After 5 years it does almost nothing anymore. It would be a paperweight if apps had any weight. I paid 50k$ for the car, can you please give me all functionality forever please

Won’t start my car. The app used to be fantastic and I never had any issues. Suddenly about 2 weeks ago (at the time of the update?) I can no longer start my car. I can sometimes lock and unlock the doors. It’s a useless app if I can’t remote start my car. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled but nothing helps. Service department at Chev dealership can’t help me. Please fix ASAP!

App no longer working. The latest update made the app stop working, getting an error message about a connection problem continuously

Junk. App won’t even open up on my phone anymore. Just shows the my Chevy logo then goes black screen

App is junk. Update: After two weeks of OnStar phone calls, escalations, a trip to the dealership to only be told it’s an onstar issue and they can’t do anything…. Nothing has been resolved. DONT BUY GM! They don’t support their on products, dealership blames onstar, onstar say it has to be dealt with at dealership…. $100k for a new truck which you’d expect this feature to work and it doesn’t. Makes me wonder what else is going to go wrong! Literally got my brand new 3500HD today… App does not send commands to vehicle. Spoke with Onstar who were actually really nice. Went through all the steps, offloading, deleting, reinstall etc, tested the app. It’s locked the truck once and then wouldn’t send any other command. Not worth the money!!!

Absolutely Garbage. Won’t even load spend over 100,000$ on a truck and they want to charge you for the app absolute garbage!

Doesn’t Connect. Even paying 14.99/month you can’t even reliably get your charge status. The app is a hot garbage dumpster fire

Unable to open. Updated the app and now the screen is blank No interaction is available

Latest update has broken app. Latest update has broken vehicle status link. If you click on the link the app crashes.

App has not worked for the last month.. App no longer works. I don’t know if it is the network or the app itself, but it will not communicate with my car.

Frustrating!!!. Since these new updates came in I have not been able to use my app. Keeps asking for pin. Once pin is entered it searches forever. I’ve tried at different times in the last week with no success. Blizzards cold weather windshield iced!! Would be nice if this app worked as the remote start fob won’t work as distance is too far. I am beyond frustrated 😡😡yes updated and turned phone off and restarted already….nothing

Remote. I am wondering if they are going to fix the problem with the remote commands. When I used the on star app everything worked great but Chevy app doesn’t work.

App keeps crashing. Love the idea of it all, but the app keeps crashing and you have to uninstall the app then reinstall again. Pain in the behind. Please fix.

Very buggy. All I need to do is precondition my car. I open app, has to log in. Face ID often fails, second time, then asks for password. Should be asking for the phone code to allow logging in. After you finally log in to the app, the screen is consistently frozen. So, quit app and repeat. Then I can start. This app should not need the lengthy process of logging in everything in open it. Everything else on phone is always logged on. App also frequently requires terms of service, so I assume it’s been updated frequently? No longer bother with the keypass because it doesn’t last more than a day or so before losing it. Make this app faster, and more robust. You’re competing against companies that are far ahead of this. It works, but is often a train wreck.

Chevy app. Awesome works great

App is a cool idea until it isn’t.. I’m still stoked on my new vehicle. However, this app is a steaming pile of dog poo. It decided that I need to go back through the process of setting up my already setup onstar account to pair it which won’t pair with it anymore. It worked for a day. Everything is updated, everything with the vehicle is fantastic. This app sucks. Don’t give the illusion you can do cool stuff if you are incapable of keeping it up. That diminishes the experience.

iPhone 6 doesn’t work anymore. Not a very good upgrade for us.... not supported on iPhone 6.... Need to have an app that works on operating system 12.5.4 Thank you

Horrible. The latest update wouldn’t work for two weeks at all. Completely deleted the app and restarted my phone now I have the app - but it won’t work! Holding your finger forever to get the trick to start only works occasionally. Won’t accept Face ID. Can’t see where the truck is parked, gas levels etc. horrible and we are paying for this! Please fix ASAP

Useless. Barely works half the time for no reason. Which is extremely frustrating especially since you pay for it. Whats the point in having an app to start your car or unlock it if it always fails

This “upgrade” makes things worse than ever. It’s 2024, starting my car with an app should not be a “feature” I need to pay for, my next car will not be a chevy. Now you wait even longer for your doors to unlock or your car to start: “Hold on to that button a little longer” I hate it when an app I need to be fast treats me like a child. What am I ? an animal? Hey chevy I like to charge my stupid car at 12amps, been changing that setting every stupid day I got this car for the last two years now, any chance you can make the car smart enough to retain that choice? Again, treating us like we are morons. I’m dying here with your antique software.

App stopped working. Just bought a 2024 blazer thought this app was neat I really like the remote start feature because you know it started if you do not have view of the vehicle. Also has diagnostics and other things but the app just stopped working which is disappointing.

Useless. This app is completely useless. So frustrating to have had a functional app last year and it’s just garbage now.

Remote start is a joke. The old app worked perfect. The new update is a crapshoot as to whether or not the remote start works.

Its Okay but full of bugs. I love the app and i cant wait to see improvements and new features…. But, the unlock option dont work 90% of time its just not selectable yet i can lock it fine and start it. Some time start dont work and other times it takes forever to do the command. App has been re installed many times and works for a bit then fails. For the cost of the service and onstar kinda wish it was better. Update: So the newest update came out awhile back and still no better. I have to delete and reinstall weekly just to use the functions.

Fix your problem. My app doesn’t even open and I just bought a 2021 I am sad it cost money but then keep the app updated should of went ford like my husband where app is free and he hasn’t had a problem with it and he had his truck for over a year ….very disappointing

Garbage. Garbage

You have to be kidding. You guys have to be kidding we pay all this money for our vehicles and to use the app for the basics like for example start our vehicles you want us to pay a minimum of $14.99 a month. I enjoyed using this app on my 2017 truck, I traded it in buy a 2019 truck and only to use this app for 1 month trial on my 2019 and only to find out if I want to keep using this app I have to pay $14.99 a month not cool

App doesn’t work. Very disappointed, I’ve had my new SUV for more than a week now and the app is still not working. I’ve been in contact with OnStar and they were unable to help me. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app more than 20 times, my software is up to date, I’ve tried everything I can think of and nothing has worked. One of the reasons I got this car was because I thought I could use the app to start my car from anywhere.

Pfff thanks. I bought a new truck 1 and a half years ago this app was free for 5 years. That was great I really prompted this app and my vehicle. I buy 70,000 dollar truck and and the app is no longer free and they cannot transfer the remainder of my old account plus this app is 15$ per month. Great app but your gouging your costumers in the wrong way.

Update fixed keyfob not appearing. Thank you for the fix! Also, for those that still have this problem, I found a workaround by long pressing on the app from the homescreen: there is a menu that appears with basic functions like lock and unlock.

Better polish but still buggy and missing features. While the recent polish is appreciated, especially the frequently used remote start button now on the first screen, the lack of functionality and bugs is still frustrating. Still looking for ability to set max battery capacity and the ability to turn the climate control back to auto and set temperature so the car will heat up on remote start if I last disabled the heater in car. Several times now I’ve parked the car the day before in mild weather, then freezing temps the next morning and remote start isn’t smart enough to turn the heat back on. Still occasionally getting a double reporting on max range in my Bolt EV even after logging off and back in. My Volt while recently on a public charger showed Not Charging in app even though battery percentage was still increasing. Weird. New with the hold to start button is the app refusing to acknowledge to start the car even when the display shows I am holding the button. I think the app is refusing to acknowledge while it’s fetching the car status. Can it cache the request the transmit after the refresh? Also just noticed efficiency since last charge is completely wrong. Just did a 240 mile road trip with the car reporting 3miles/kWh and the app is saying only 1.7. Weird.

myChevrolet app. The app is actually really nice already so I’m not really complaining but it could be changed a little if it’s possible at all to customize what the user might want to turn on when starting up the car. For example, sometimes the rear defroster on my truck comes on and does really need to. Sometimes I feel like it could damage it if it comes on when there’s nothing to defrost. Maybe have a way to have a selection in the app to have the rear defroster come on or not just by selecting a toggle switch. Also maybe a way to set the temperature in the vehicle via the app. Just a few suggestions to maybe make the app more customizable when using it to start up the vehicle.

Great, but needs to add Siri support. Firstly I like this app a lot! Being able to control my car from my phone is a lifesaver especially with bad weather. And the new update with climate control settings are a most welcome improvement. I also love how the app lets me check my Bolt’s range so I can plan trips. And the built in diagnostics are simple and convenient. However, I really wish there was Siri Shortcuts support. I would love to be able to say “Siri set the Bolt to 72 degrees”. And have the car’s temperature adjust. And I’d also like the option to say “Siri Remote start the Bolt”. Even just adding the options to the shortcuts app, and letting me build my own shortcuts would be great! Please consider it Chevy!

It was good. Now it’s just ok.. I really like the convenience of the app even though some features stop working after the Onstar promotional period is over. The main problem I’m having now is that for some reason the app will not save my Touch ID information anymore, even after I enable it while in the app. The very next time I open it and try to execute a function I’m prompted to once again type in my pin and the Touch ID option is disabled yet again! It’s a bit frustrating because once you’re used to the smooth flow of using your fingerprint to perform a task, everything now comes to a grinding halt when you’re prompted to put in your four digit pin number every time you open the app. Please fix this in an update soon!

Please integrate Siri. One star is removed because the app can be very slow to react when first opening... not sure why. It doesn’t communicate with the vehicle until you manually refresh a page so why does this happen? The app’s general usability is okay. I removed another star because I feel that there’s just something missing in this app. It feels dated. I personally would like to be able to adjust more things when pre conditioning my vehicle, such as turning heated seats on or fine tuning the AC settings. Most of all, I would love Siri integration. I know Sirikit is available, so this can most definitely be done. Please work on this! I would love to tell Siri to start my car as I am heading out of work or the house! Or to just tell her to lock the doors as I walk away and am too far out of range. I know it can be done. Again, please do this!

When it works, it’s great. I have been in a jam twice now and twice this app has failed me. I left my key fob in my car (on purpose) because I was just a few feet away. The doors locked so I thought “I have this app no big deal”. Nope. App failed to load. Today I was at a soccer game and told my daughter to text me when she got to the car and I’d use the app too open the doors. Nope again. App failed to load. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and now it just keeps saying it’s unable to load my account details. I’ve used the app a few times without a problem. Most of the time I needed all 5 bars and/or wifi to use this app. It stinks and I’m frustrated and I can’t depend on it AT ALL.

Misleading and deprecated. This app in earlier versions had good functionality. Now it is nearly useless. In addition, the services and features Onstar promises with their basic plan are not available. For example, Parked Location does not show where your vehicle is parked. The location shown is where you were when you asked the app about it.... just a dropped geotag. So, if you don't geotag the vehicle before you walk away you are out of luck! The app used to make a location request of the vehicle so you could find it but not anymore. Service status stopped working two months ago. Earlier today I tried to schedule a service date through the app and all it could do was give me the advice to call the dealer and their phone number. Now the app is telling me that I have NO Onstar services and won't even bring up the home screen. The app and Onstar basic services are deprecated to the point of being completely useless.

Silly password symbols. I still don’t understand why some companies limit the number of symbols that can be used in a password. This causes problems for people like me who have five or so passwords they rotate but none of them have the correct symbols to be used in this particular app. That just makes it harder to guess which password I used, I’m sure every time I’ve gone to use this app the app has forgotten my password even though I checked the “Save Password” after logging in. Either figure out how to program an app so your password can be any symbol on the keyboard(they only allow five currently) or stop forgetting who logged in. On the plus side they fixed the forgotten password glitch so I reclaimed my account. 3 stars for a quick fix on my last issue, thanks dev.

Okay, but not great…. Honestly, I’m not too impressed with Chevrolets technology anymore. I leased a brand new 2021 and that had electronic issues which is the first brand new vehicle I have ever had in my possession. They fixed that and since then I was enjoying the app features especially remote start. I even went ahead and began paying for the monthly subscription to use remote start. Since then, I have had to uninstall the app twice and re-downloaded it to resolve the issue. The second time it didn’t resolve it, so I reached out to onstar. They did something on their end and it was fixed. Now, I run into the same issue again where I can’t remote start. For a multi-billion dollar company you would think they would have minimal issues with software… honestly not worth the extra $11 a month to use this.

Bad app update. Every time I look at my app it says I have to service my emission system, engine & transmission, anti lock brakes, air bag and stabil track. When I take my truck to the dealer the say there is nothing wrong with my truck it is the app that is wrong. This has been happening ever since the new update. I have contacted you and on star and you keep telling me to uninstall and reinstall it and that works until I just turn the key on then they all come back. And when I contact you again I get something saying when they find out what is wrong they will let me know but in a month nothing. The app also says I’m get average of 22.7 miles per gal then next time it says 16 and I didn’t even go anywhere. The dealer also told me that the have had many many other complaints about the same thing. I really don’t know why you updated the old app worked and had a lot more.

Absolutely love this app!. Been using this app for about a year. I love being to able remotely condition the car interior before I walk out to the car so that it’s already comfortable. Sure beats having to wait for the AC or heater to get ready a mile or two down the road. Since I’m using battery, it’s cheap to do! It’s also nice to be able to remotely check the amount of charge my car has to see if I need to plug it in that day or not Edit: Ever since the redesign of the interface in the last year or so, I’ve had trouble remembering (and finding) the car location portion of the app. It just doesn’t flow right to me and I get confused about where to look. I always find it on accident🤷‍♂️

Moved from Ford to Chevy…... I want to say first off the app is great, responsive and easy to use. BUT since I know what the Ford app offers for free, Chevy I’m disappointed. I am not going to pay for access to my car because Onstar rules the app. I could always lock, unlock, start the vehicle and locate the vehicle for no monthly fee, in my Ford vehicles….now I’m just not gonna have that luxury, because I changed from Ford to Chevy. I hope that someone will read this and care enough to give us an app to use no matter the make of your car that does at least the basics. I’m not asking for roadside or even navigation, just open the doors, lock the doors and know where the vehicle is also monitor the tire pressure and schedule service, all this was free with Ford. Looking forward to hearing from Chevy about this soon.

Feels Outdated. I’ve owned a Bolt Euv for a year now and having the connected services to use the app fully almost feels like a waste. It works well enough that I keep it, with it minor glitches here and there. The app is simple but too simple. Climate for instance, there’s no options besides ensuring auto climate is on when pre-starting. Is it possible to show the current interior temp and/or set a temp for the car to cool too since it already has the auto a/c and digital climate control? Also show the heated seat functions and operate them? Charging setting for the Ev- Can you make it possible to adjust the charge limit in app and see what you have the charge limit set to? App Widgets - Please see if it’s possible to have onscreen widgets now for the simple controls. Appearance- app looks a little behind compared to what’s hitting the market. Color scheme and layout for quick information and controls / maps sections needs refresh. Notifications- I have owned two IPhones during the time of using the app and have never been able to get ANY push notifications. All in all , the app works with little issues. These are just the things I would like to see progress on.

Scariest day ever!. I accidentally locked my keys in my truck with my baby inside while it was 110 outside. Thankfully I had turned on the truck while I was strapping my baby in his car seat, so the AC was on. I panic when I realized that I didn’t have my keys or my phone on me. But thankfully it took my husband less that 2 minutes (longest 2 minutes of my life!) to download the app and sign in. And ta-da he was able to open the door!! My fear was that the truck was going to eventually turn off and my baby was inside. So of course breaking the window was my first thought. But thanks to this app , and my husband lol, we didn’t have too. I love that I can also download the app to my Apple Watch.

A craps shoot. I cannot depend on this app to work for lock/unlock or remote start. Sometimes it does, sometimes it does. Hence the title. The diagnostic info is great. I like what that provides and can depend on that to be accurate. However, using the remote functions is a game of chance. I have a work vehicle. So, I store my Chevy keys in my backpack. Sometimes I need something out of my vehicle. Instead of getting my keys out, I open the app. But, I should’ve just waited until I had my keys. App doesn’t work. Now I’ve wasted time. I have to make another trip to back to my vehicle once I retrieve my keys. I wish I had the app, phone, or connection of all the people giving this app 5-stars. It garbage. Especially when I compare it to the old app I had when I owned a 2012 with the same capabilities. Never had to question if that one would work.

Less than average. I’m not sure how this app is meant to function. More than 4 times in 3 months I’ve had to delete and reinstall this app because the onStar rep I complained to, asked that I should. My complaints were as follows: 1. Even though my vehicle has been close by and my internet on, the key fob feature was unable to start my vehicle. 2. At other times, it did start it but when I tried turning it off, (after an attempt to warm the engine most mornings). I’ve had to go outside (not fun in my negative 35 temps) to manually do this, which defeats the purpose of having the app. 3. I don’t know if it’s meant to be an autostart feature, but using the “start engine” feature of the key fob doesn’t actually start my engine and that has been inconveniencing, particularly this winter where I activate this and think the car will be nice and warm on getting in. It just activates the accessories but the engine itself doesn’t run. With my Malibu, the brakes have to be stepped on before the engine comes alive. So what exactly does the keyfob do or function as. I’d sincerely appreciate an explanation please. I just had to delete and reinstall this app because the feedback on my screen said there’d been a 3rd party redirection, and suggested I delete and reinstall the app. Kinda frustrating.

Ongoing issue for 2 weeks now.... I love this app BUT lately have had issues that I cannot seem to get help to fix. Last 2 weeks been having an ongoing issue with app not opening and going straight to a log in screen. 1st - When I try to log in, it’s telling me that my email address is not associated with this account BUT it have been for years and I’m currently receiving emails!? 2nd - then I get a screen that says ‘unable to authenticate at this time. If persists, contact an advisor for assistance’. So I do, and today’s day/time fall into the open hours it states in emails AND the recording but disconnects me because it says they’re closed. How does this ongoing issue get fixed??

Works great. Honestly, I have not had a single problem with this app. I have had it since 2014! I absolutely love the vehicle dashboard. Being able to see my Odometer, Oil Life, Tire Pressure remotely is great! The other options for scheduling a service is great! Maybe the selection where it "updates you" on your car while it's being serviced could be a bit more "live" then not live. I've been home before and it'll say my cars ready for pickup. But that might be a technician not doing it. I HATE Alexa... As I am a siri smart home ecosystem, but I've wanted to be able and ask the AI to start my car for years. And since Alexa is the only one allowed... She gets 1 app! Maybe get Siri access soon? Keep up the great work Chevy!

Disappointing. I’ve had this app for my Chevy Bolt for about 4 weeks. At first I thought this app was pretty good. I love the gamification of trying to drive as efficiently as possible and receiving a score. I can also see my state of charge as well as tire pressure. I can also precondition and unlock my vehicle remotely. The frustration began about 10 days ago when I tried to use the app and as it was refreshing (which takes far too long) the app it closed. Sometimes it doesn’t stay open for more than a few seconds. This glitch makes the app almost impossible to use. If the app does stay open long to use I noticed the some of the limitations of the app. If I precondition the car I am unable to change the heating or cooling settings from the app. I also cannot change the setting on the amount of charge I want my car to have in the morning. I am left wanting much more then what is actually delivered. We desperately need a refresh of this stale app.

Not all dealers use the schedule service function.. The app doesn’t tell you not all dealers use the online appointment system for service. Recently relocated and “scheduled” service through the app at the closest dealership. Received a system generated email “confirming” the appointment. I showed up as scheduled and was told they didn’t have the info on my vehicle, no contact info although I provided it in the app, and therefore had no appointment. They don’t use the system due to cost of subscribing. Chevrolet/GM need to resolve this issue and tell us in the app and web version to call dealership directly and not provide the opportunity to schedule an appointment with those dealers. The previous dealership I went to used the system and it worked well as do the other app features. It would also be useful if the app itself had a provide feedback option. Beyond that it’s a good app and I recommend it.

Extremely disappointed- Go back to the original. This (original) app was so helpful. I’d use it to unlock my doors as I don’t have a fob. I’d use it to see the stats of my tires and oil and and other stuff. This “updated” app is simply pointless. Nothing works except for logging in and getting to the store to buy accessories, which are ridiculously priced, or to make an appointment. Ever since this app was changed and I discovered it couldn’t do the things it used to I’ve taken it off and reloaded it about once a month to see if was fixed. I’ve read all of the most recent reviews and as yet I haven’t seen that you have fixed anything. You want these people to email you and I assume they have BUT nothing has changed. Get with the program and fix this stuff or stop creating and “fixing/updating” it entirely. Maybe next year I’ll try again but I’m done for now

Not bad but is lacking features. I recently went from a 2014 Jeep Cherokee to a 2020 Chevy Colorado. I can’t understand how a 2014 Jeep had more, and better, technology than a 2020. For one, when remote starting the vehicle with either the key fob or the app, there’s no way to turn on the heated seats/steering wheel when the outside temp is cold. My Jeep did that. Why can’t this? In this day of everything being computerized, I fully expected by now that this app would allow me to be able to control that. I also should be able to remotely control the climate control settings as well. Change vent settings and temperature. Generally the app is good but occasionally takes a very long time to refresh when pulling it down. Other than that and adding the features mentioned, I’m more or less happy with it.

Not Fully Functional. Historically I used the OnStar app. Can’t say that I’ve ever had problems with it. I’ve also had the MyChevrolet app for some time, but never really used it since OnStar features were added. Today, I discovered that there is a MyChevrolet iWatch which I gladly installed. As I left my car to go for a run, I locked my doors using my iWatch. Presto! No keys, no phone. I was happy until I returned and attempted to unlock the car. Nope. Had to call my wife to bring me my spare keys (using my iWatch). Upon further testing when arriving home, I discovered that not only did my iWatch not unlock the car; my iPhone wouldn’t either. Yet they both successfully LOCKED the car. Further testing using the OnStar app showed me that IT WORKS to unlock my car. Looks like a bug in the MyChevrolet app.

I finally added a plan. I have been researching to see if this app is worthwhile for me to use. I am happy I added it. I agree with other reviewers that this app is certainly capable of much more. For instance. If remote start/ stop are available, why is there no access to the climate control remotely? It would be nice to start the vehicle remotely and set the temperature and seat heater/vents when it is remotely started. It would also be nice ( and this might be too much) to have access to the cameras remotely. I imagine being on a trip and having the piece of mind I can check on my vehicle while it is parked. With all that said, I am happy with my initial interaction with the app. It is easy to use and monitor my vehicle’s health. I am looking forward to testing other features when I connect my toy hauler tomorrow.

Won’t loan after update. This app is trash. I pay monthly for the services of the app like remote start yet I can never get past the loading screen. I have the most recent update and an iPhone 12 Pro Max so there’s no reason I shouldn’t be able to use the app. I’m basically paying monthly for no reason since the app won’t even load anymore! And prior to this problem, every time I would try to start my car I would hold on “start” a thousand times before it even sent over the message to my car which was nearby. They should’ve never changed it to holding the start button and left it to just pressing it once which never failed. It is much easier to use my keys at this point but during the winter this app will become beyond frustrating. I’m considering canceling my membership and deleting this app since it does nothing but waste space on my phone.

Disappointment. Extremely let down by Chevy! I went to remote start my truck, as I do every morning, and none of my key fob keys for the app was there. Figured it was a glitch so I used my real key fob. That same night I tried to use the app again and it said “updating” and nothing in the app to access my key fop actions. So I decided to go on with my night and let it so called “update”. Two days pass and I decide to drive my truck and go to remote start from my phone and again same issue! So I uninstall the app and reinstall. Took me all day to remember my password, when I finally did, i has to enter my vehicle’s information again, which i didn’t have the vin, so I had to wait till later. When I got the vin and tried to enter, it wouldn’t even let me add a vehicle! So back to uninstall and reinstall! I wrote down my vin and password this time to make it seem less and fast! Once I finished all this, AGAIN no key fob actions to use on the app! So I decided to investigate! After 2 hours of reading, I finally find some confusing and dissatisfying answers! Apparently, Now I must be in my truck, parked, engine on, My Chevy app open, when contact on star through the button in the truck, FOR THEM TO GIVE ME ACCESS TO A FEATURE THAT I’VE BEEN USING FOR THREE PLUS YEARS ON MY PHONE AND POSSIBLY EVEN NOW HAVE TO PAY FOR TO USE!!! Extremely poor business ethics Chevy and disrespectful to your customers! Y’all need to fix this ASAP!

Was a great app. This was an excellent app for many years. Saved my wife many a times when she accidentally locked the car with keys inside. After the latest update, I hadn’t used it in some time since my wife learned to not leave keys in car. The other day she remote started the car with remote and had keys in her bag. She put bag down in car as she put our three year old in the car seat. As she got out to get in her seat, she must have accidentally hit the lock button. She could no longer get in the car with daughter inside. She tried using app, but it came up blank. Called me. Tried to use app too. Same problem. I took and hour for me to run home, get spare keys, and meet her to get car unlocked. When I got home I checked to see if there were any updates. It was up to date. iOS was up to date too on iPhone 12. Screen still came up blank. Uninstalled the app and reinstalled. Now it works, but it no longer allows me to log in or recognize my email!?!?!?! I can no longer get the app to work.

Nice app... when it works. Very much appreciate the functionality of the Apple Watch interface but, majority of time am met with a red iPhone graphic with a slash thru it and cannot launch the app. No explanation anywhere of what this graphic means or how to solve for it. Five stars if not for this issue. UPDATE: Received a voicemail from customer support that informed me that despite being told under separate correspondence that I must have iPhone software update 10.0 or better along with Apple Watch software 3.0 or better (of which I do)... that in fact the MyChevrolet App is not compatible with Apple Watch. I do not understand! MyChevrolet App is advertised as being compatible and it has worked in the past, changed review to 1 star. Love my Chevy Camaro but customer support, not so much.

Very bad app. I’ve had my car for a little over a month and this app has never worked properly and been riddled with adds. One of the key features I was looking forward to with this car was the ability to turn it on from the app and cool it off, given that I live in a hot climate. I have had to delete and reinstall it 3 separate times because on the home page in order to turn my car on there have been adds to “shop for accessories” or “call into onstar to see the benifits” and there is no way to click off of these adds except deleting the app and starting over. Even though half the time when I try remotely turning on my car it says the server is down, my husband who I added to my profile has never been able to log into the app because of a server error. It’s pretty horrible, though I do really love the car. No problems there.

Good app, but the map needs to be updated.. The app is a great resource. I use it several times a week. I love the ability to check my charge status from the comfort of my bed, before going to sleep, and when I wake up. Since I live in the hills, I appreciate the accuracy of the charge estimate for my drive home. However, this is also an annoyance for me, as this feature always places my house two blocks down from where it actually is. The map has apparently not been updated in my area for over 5 years (which is when my house was built). Of course, I blame the map maker and not the app engineers. I just wish I knew who the map maker is, so I could ask them directly for an update to their product.

App works to the minimum but has the potential to be great. The app works most of the time some connectivity problems here and there no big deal. However, there are some simple software upgrades that would allow this app be a lot more convenient for the user. For example I would like to be able to open the rear hatch glass and tailgate on my Tahoe from the app, and to be able to adjust the temperature of the climate from my phone while the car is in remote start mode, lastly it would also be great to be able to power fold the mirrors from the app as for some reason on the Tahoe they don’t auto fold when the car is locked like for example some Honda’s,BMW’s and Tesla’s would. Ps. If I have to email someone or onstar/Chevy I would be more than happy too

2018 Tahoe-Love it!!. We bought a new 2018 Tahoe RST. I love it!! It's like an oversized sports car. Rides & Drives excellent & smooth. Love all the new technology & Wifi is reasonable ($20 month unlimited). The weather app on the MyLink radio system is one of my favorites and how it changes with the city you are in automatically. Onstar has wonderful customer service. No complaints on this vehicle. I had bought a 2008 Yukon Denali new and drove it over 10 years. They are similar in features except this Tahoe is a smoother ride and more interior space for a cheaper price. 2 suggestions-make the ability to pair devices with Bluetooth wireless headphones (ex: Beats Solo3) especially for the rear entertainment system. Lightning in the rear cargo area. It's dark when the 3rd row seats are up.

Was a Great benefit. Now, not so much!. I usually wait a number of months to add a review and I am glad I waited, now. When we first bought our new Chevrolet, I signed up with the On-Star program and added the MyChevrolet app to my phone for the number of conveniences it offered. One of which was that tapping the app, it opened and was automatically connected. Since upgrades were made to the app, now, in order to access the benefits, you need to sign in each time. It’s a PITA to have to enter a password every time you open this app. Every single time. Once you do enter the password, you can enjoy the benefits of starting your vehicle, checking for updates, and whatever it is you want to find or check. It was however much more convenient to just tap and you are there. There is a bluetooth connection that automatically connects once you are in the vehicle.

Overall I like would suggest two updates. Overall the app is very useful. Sometimes I find that some functions are not the most intuitive to find. Three suggestions 1) add the ability to “charge immediately” when on a schedule. I frequently find myself forgetting to do this before leaving the car. Then I have to go back to the garage, start the car and select the charge immediately feature. Having it in the app would be awesome. 2) add a note to Vehicle Status “tap for more info” or similar. It took me a bit of poking around to find that feature. Doesn’t help that it’s not obviously a button or something to tap. 3) love the remote start. Would be nice to select the timer rather than have it only be ten mins. And the app timer needs to reflect that anyway. The timer sets to twenty. Now just if I could remember to do it before I leave. That brings to mind another suggestion. Setting a reminder for a future time to remote start the vehicle. Even integration with apple calendar to suggest “I see you have a trip coming up would you like a reminder to remote start for that trip?”

Lots of potential here. Number 1: There's an app for my car! How cool is that? It doesn't really do anything yet. I just got a Bolt, and there is no correlation between what the app says and real life. In fact, I was traveling, thought "hey, it would be really cool to check on my car back home". The app told me that the car was dead, and offered to help me call roadside service. I was pretty concerned, I called OnStar and they told me I had probably left the lights on. I mentioned that a 60 kWh battery probably would be ok with the lights on for a day or two, but he said, "you'd be surprised", that it probably was indeed dead, and there was nothing that they could check to verify. When I got home it was fine, fully charged, just as I had left it. I'd really rather they didn't have features that are so blatantly misleading, but there must be some sort of intention to get it to work. This could be really cool someday.

Better instructions would’ve helped(overall satisfied). I just downloaded the app and filled in all the required questions. I signed in, authenticated and was emailed a six digit pin. I Followed all the prompts multiple time. Every-time I put the VIN number in, I’m rerouted to sign in, receive a new pin and the same process again. I’ve done the process numerous times. It took a call to OnStar to get things to finally work. The instructions could’ve been better. I’m terms of the app, it seems easy to use and simple. I wish there were more options, such as what’s available from other manufacturers. Overall though I’m satisfied.

The application works as advertised. This is a great app overall, but it still has one thing that keeps it from being a perfect application. I use it all the time to control my automatic start up open doors, etc. The biggest drawback of this application is that you still have to put in your passcode every single time you perform an action on your Apple Watch. I understand that the passcode is necessary for all actions on the iPhone, but if your Apple Watch is already authenticated when you first Place it on your wrists, then why do you need to add an additional passcode just to turn on your car? The fact that he keeps asking for a passcode is what makes the Watch application less efficient and annoying. Why doesn’t the Apple Watch version of this application bypass The need for a passcode on the app itself? This is why I cannot give it five stars. It’s just plain silly and redundant.

Every of update makes app even worse. Every update that you guys have ever had going on lately has made this app even worse tire pressure is completely wrong the circle it all the information of your mileage is not correct the oil life level is not correct this app used to be wonderful and lately it has gone downhill to the point I’m even thinking of canceling my service and just doing without it it’s almost not worth it and not worth the money give-and-take the way things are nowadays so please if you could fix the issues with this app it’s just really annoying that used to be able to get the right information when needed. So please look into it and fix it thank you

Long way to go.. I use this app all the time with my volt, especially for charging status and remote starting. It is also really handy to have a searchable version of the owners manual on my phone! The app is a bit clunky and has never been awesome or beautiful, but mostly usable. Like sometimes it wouldn't connect and would tell me to go drive my car or turn it on so it could connect (if it was convenient to go turn my car on, I wouldn’t be using this app to check its status). With that spottiness of service, I was really excited to see that they were coming out with a new major update... until I downloaded it. It’s really pretty, but needing to hold down the start button for like 15 seconds is crazy, and the charge status screen has just decided to quit working altogether. It’s just a white screen. Currently it is useless for the feature that I most need. I will update this comment and rating if things change, and I’m really hoping they do!

Getting Worse. The app by and large does what it says. However, if you turn off location services, the app brings up modal dialogs complaining about this fact, several times, every time you try to do anything in it. It renders it borderline unusable. I’ve got to imagine this is against some Apple terms of app development, as no other app I’ve ever used has been nearly so obnoxious if a setting is disabled. If the developers would fix this, check for the missing location services data only when the user asks for a feature that needs it, and checks only once every time the feature is requested, I think you’ll have a much more usable app. I’m not even getting started on the questionable decision to try include advertisements in this app. I bought a compatible car, so from that angle I spent an off a lot of money for this app already. Increasingly I have to tell people that I bought the car *in spite of* OnStar.

Signing in. Have had this app for years with multiple vehicles. The updated Chevy app is horrible. It does not stay logged in as the old app did. When you try and stay logged it it gives you a message to enable password in device which there is no place to do that. The dashboard is horrible compared to the older one. Bottom line they should have not messed with the old app it worked awesome and never had any issues. Having to hold buttons until something happens is ridiculous. I rarely get the password to even start the car. I used this app everyday to start my car while I was running. To have to stop my run and mess with logging in and. Holding buttons sometimes trying multiple times is not useful I have tried the new app with all my vehicles and does in everyone This app is a zero.

Used to be able to refresh vehicle stats any time. The older app was simple, organized, and easy to use. This refresh has buttons, statuses, and settings scattered all over the place, often hidden behind one of several “more” buttons. I can’t find options that I know used to be here, and the app has been unable to retrieve the vehicle status since I installed the update. I appreciate that GM is continuing to support and refresh this app, but this update was not ready for release and seems more like an effort to take away or hide functionality in favor of polish and appearance. Update: the latest versions of this app don’t allow you to refresh the vehicle status information anymore. It just periodically updates, sometimes less than once a day.

Horrible “upgrade”. Ever since I upgraded this app to the new version I have had nothing but problems. The remote start didn’t work for the first couple weeks and neither did sending navigation directions from the app to the in dash. I called On-Star and now I can remote start, but today when I hit “more” it shows links to GM social media pages. It won’t pull up vehicle status now where it used to do that. The whole thing is garbage and makes me wonder why I should even have an On-Star subscription. I am sure I will be told I should uninstall and reinstall, but why should I have to do that? Shouldn’t the app work upon release and better than the prior version?

Perfectly Amazing. I was unsure of how this app would function and let me tell you. It is so simple and now I have mine set up with fingerprint access. I never worry about my vehicle being unsecured I can just lock it anytime anywhere as long as I have phone reception. The driving reviews are good to see how my truck does and how differently I drive with trailers and back and forth to work with fuel consumption and hard braking and acceleration during the trip. Love the best part and that it is FREEE! No fees no limits. No ads just a great app for accessing remote start systems, locks, horn and lights. You can review driving history and track vehicle location. This app is the only one located right next to my cell function on my phone and use it just as much.

Loving My Chevy App/OnStar. I’m enjoying the app and it’s features. Unfortunately the remote functions randomly disappear periodically when tech support happens to not be available. After calling OnStar (Tech Department was closed) and expressing my concern the app miraculously displayed the OnStar features again but minus the remote features. I received it as a complimentary perk so for now I won’t complain however I plan to keep the more affordable plan when the time comes time to renew, and I hope everything will function as it is designed and I am paying for it to do. Developers: People read reviews to get a feel for the product as you know and if it’s showing a lot of negative reviews that seem to never change we save our money and do without the headache!! Great App just fix it.....

Won’t let me access my car (update). Update: Gave the app another try and found the issue — it won’t let me stay signed in or use Face ID. I upgraded to 3 stars since I found the issue. I KNOW my pin, tried changing it (gives me the loading circle of death), and then tried changing my password. Well, now it won’t let me sign in at all. Worthless app if I can’t access my Camaro. Do not recommend, as there are other apps that do the necessary functions of this app (like CarRX for diagnostics and maintenance), while the optional convenience components (starting the engine, locking and unlocking the doors) aren’t necessary for the headache and frustration this app is giving me. Honestly, I’ve had 3 Chevys (Caviler was my first car, then a Malibu, and now a Camaro) and was going to stay with them for life. However, this is frustrating me enough that this may be my last Chevy.

No longer free + bait & switch. This app used to be useful for sending commands to satellite-equipped cars. There was at least a couple instances when my keyless remotes wouldn’t function when parked in certain locations like under steel bridges or parking structures due to structural interference. I could simply open the app, send a remote unlock/start signal and be on my way. But then greed took over. The app now requires a monthly subscription of $30 to OnStar for these basic functionalities. The worst part is that not only were these utilities free between 2016 and 2021, but the satellite features aren’t even owned by OnStar; they are part of the standard dashboard. This is nothing more than a money making scheme to paywall basic features that came with my car. Also, you can’t subscribe to OnStar unless your car is running and connected to the service, which defeats the purpose of exterior assistance such as lock-outs.

Needs refinement to work with newer Apple products. The app was great until the latest upgrades and release of Apple phones and watches. Now the app often opens to a blank page and needs to be closed and reopened to work. Starting the truck from my watch was easy before too, but now the password screen flashes up twice; once when you select vehicle start, and then again once you start typing, forcing you to retype what you just entered. Then the watch app just sits idle with no response from the vehicle or app, or tells you to open the app on your phone to sign-in (despite already having signed in and selecting “keep me signed in”). What’s the point of the start functionality on my watch app if I need to use my phone for it to work? Hopefully GM can fix this soon. They charge $15/mo for this remote start feature.

The new version is a downgrade not up. I like the old version of the app it worked and was effective. This new new 5.0 upgrade has been nothing but problems it super buggy, does not show issues with car even those the refresh page has been used twice the page is just blank you can’t set up appointments on it, and it keeps logging you out and asking for password every time I close down the app and the press and hold to send a signal to my car to lock open or start is by far the worse downgrade trying to be an upgrade. Idk who was in charge with this app design but they need 5.1 or 5.2 and scrapp everything they just did and start over because right now I’m highly annoyed o was forced to update it and annoyed that i lost a good work able app and now have to suffer through this glitchy bad one. Also on top of that they take to long to update it it’s been out for three months with only one bug fix update thats a huge problem.

Love this app but it’s been buggy. This app is awesome. However lately it’s been buggy. It will say “locked” on the lock icon when my car is most definitely not locked. This last weekend I was out at a friends and left my keys in my car. I remote started my car from my phone. Then I went out 20 minutes later and the keys were locked in my car. (My bad I should have known better) but then I went to unlock with my app and the unlock button said “locked” and I couldn’t unlock it until I long pressed on the app icon and hit “unlock” from there. Then when I got in my car it’s like it never started because it was very cold in there. I’ve had my car since 2019 and it’s never been a problem until now. It started happening around October. Please fix this!!
