Toyota Comments & Reviews 2026
Could be useful but it is not. I have had this app for three weeks, the same length of time I have had my new Toyota. This could be a very useful app but it is not! First, the app is extremely difficult to navigate. It is not at all intuitive. I can’t find a damned thing on it even though I’ve seen pictures of the features. But I don’t know where those features reside in the app. I have been down deadends in the app and have been unable to find my way out. Second, there seems to be a problem with the interaction between the app “lock doors” feature and the key fob. I have locked the doors a couple of times using the app and when I try to unlock them with the button on the key fob, the doors at first do not unlock! This is a definite failure in the app. Finally, incessant notifications from the app are driving me crazy! I don’t mind notifications, but I get the same notification repeatedly. For example, I keep my car in the garage with the windows open. Immediately, the app generates a “windows open” notification. I clear it. About an hour later, the app generates another “windows open” notification. I clear it. An hour or two later, the process repeats and it keeps repeating! During the whole time, I have not even touched the car! This happens not just for windows but for other things like “doors unlocked” and others. In short, I expect more from Toyota than this app delivers. You can do better, Toyota—much better!
This app is a pain, and leaves us wanting so much more. The idea of the app is fine in theory, but there are so many issues that make it the biggest pain to use. First, it takes over a minute to load each time, and half the time it doesn’t load properly and you have to restart the process over again. Secondly, the lock and unlock buttons regularly don’t work, and will send alerts that my car is unlocked, then when I go into the app I’ll try to lock it and I’ll get a message saying “the car is already locked”. WHY, that just makes me worry for no reason! Also if you press certain buttons the app will completely freeze up and you are forced to once again close it and restart. Also the app will crash itself if you try to lock the dang car! Finally one of my biggest gripes is you HAVE to allow it access every single time you turn your car on, if you don’t, apple car play won’t connect, and you Bluetooth won’t pair properly. Overall, Toyota needs to overhaul this app because it is garbage.
Really disappointed. I love my new Tundra and I hate, hate, hate this app. It took 40 minutes of customer support to get it working and connected. Once I got connected I came to understand that my new $65,000 truck has features that I paid for that will only work for a year until I’m forced to choose to give up or pay a yearly subscription fee. I can’t believe it! I resent this so much that I’m beginning to wish I hadn’t bought from Toyota. Also, the “big brother” aspects of this app are positively scary. So far I’m seeing this app is slow, buggy and incredibly invasive. I plan do revoke all permissions I gave and delete the app. The features like remote start aren’t that important or worth the hassle. Oh, and get this, the remote start works but shuts off as soon as you open the door. How stupid is that!? My salesman tells me it’s a security feature so that no one steals the truck after it’s started. Well my F150 and Lincoln Continental manage to solve this. You can’t open the door of the running vehicle without the key fob. Problem solved! I really enjoy my new truck but this app is a huge disappointment and has greatly reduced my new purchase experience.
Truly Awful Actually. Let me start with this. It is absurd that I paid as much as I did for a Prius Prime Limited which is supposed to have the top technology and it doesn’t even do the bare minimum. Why can I not unlock my car through the app? Why don’t I have the sharing feature? What’s the point in buying the highest trim for the most mediocre technology I’ve ever seen from a 2022 car? I also cannot even set up a charge schedule through the app. I called and asked and they said “well you should be able to, just uninstall and reinstall the app” but despite having done that twice all I get is a graphic that reads “set the timer schedules in your vehicle” that I can’t click on at all and doesn’t engage. The only two things that supposedly work for my car is the remote start and climate control, and those only work once in a blue moon. Toyota got to the top 10 years ago and it seems they’ve decided they’re going to make zero progress in their interior technology since then. Glad my Rivian will start building within the year. Toyota has fallen far and seems to have no interest in pulling their chute.
Terrible for needing to be a necessity. I’m sorry I don’t like writing bad reviews but for this app to be such a necessity that I can’t even see my tire pressure on my RAV4 other then by view this app is unacceptable. This app SHOULD be a 5-star app due to the developers putting their best and entire effort into making this app do everything g possible. Also I know this next comment isn’t an app problem but it’s kind of ridiculous that I can’t even use my screen that has a “map” button and it doesn’t have a map preprogrammed into the many computers that it takes to run the car. An excuse to say that you can’t is just that an excuse. We have super computers in our pockets. You can figure out how we can download maps automatically now a days.
2.0.2 fixed the Entune App suite. Updated review, the 2.0.2 update fixed the issues of the apps not connecting. It also auto connected when I launched the app after starting my Tacoma. Thanks to the dev team for applying the fixes within a few week(s) of the last update! Update for the developer who keeps telling everyone to submit feedback through the Toyota app. I tried to do that but I get the message: “Something went wrong. Oops, looks like something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.” Lol…how do you prefer that we tell you the app is broken? ——— Another unsatisfied customer confirming the 2.0.1 update breaks the Entune App suite. I cannot even access the setups. Pressing the App box presents a spinning circle and then crashes back to the main vehicle page. Was working fine prior to this last update.
Zero stars. Why are the only 5 star reviews from Ian and Mohammed from some random Toyota dealership for setting up the app? It has nothing to do with the app itself. They are having every new customer add these reviews to artificially inflate the rating. How are my legitimate reviews constantly removing while these are allowed? Just create a simple app that actually does what customers want. Since you don’t know what that is, let me tell you. We just want to start our vehicles without spending 20 minutes fighting the app. We just want to be able to see the tire pressure, gas level, lock and unlock, mileage. We want to be able to have it run one remote start for more than 10 minutes. We want to be able to open the doors without the engine shutting off. Such ridiculous and unnecessary “safety features”. Please fire your entire development and QA team and hire some qualified professionals. I know 12 year olds who could create a better app than this…seriously.
Works as intended. Had a 2024 Camry SE. which didn’t have the radio for remote control. So that was a downgrade especially switching from Hyundai limited. Which let me heat my seats and which seats before I got in the car. Now I have a 2024 BZ4X love the car but the app here is still falling short. Able to adjust climate but only will stay on for 20 minutes and if I happen to run behind. I can’t start the remote start again. Also the charging section leaves a lot to be desired. Too much of the stuff about earning leafs and buttons to sign up for Evgo or adding payment. Even once complete still stay on that page. No info on how much Kw are being pulled or driving history or even accurate charge history. No way to adjust charge level if I leave the vehicle at an airport charger or even at home. No way to stop charge via app. Hearing news on updates for this after the new release on the new model. And a possible over the air update of some charge enhancements. Hoping for more. But might have to buy a third party OBM module. Otherwise yes the app does lock/unlock and sometimes the sending address to car works.
Good but not for security features. I’ve been using the Toyota app for a while and generally found it convenient. Being able to turn my car on or off from my phone and check if it’s locked has been helpful, especially for peace of mind living in the city. I use the app primarily for safety, making sure my car is secure when parked. However, a few weeks ago, I had an incident where my car window was smashed and the doors were open for a while. Surprisingly I never received any notification from the app that there was an issue with the door and window. This was a major letdown, especially considering I’m paying monthly for the app’s premium membership largely for security features. I expected it to alert me in cases like this, and it didn’t deliver. Given the monthly fee, I’d hoped for better security and alerts in situations where my car’s safety is compromised. I’m disappointed and hope future updates address these gaps.
Key functions missing or defective. I expected some key functions that other vehicles apps provide: 1. I drop kids at school and the seatbelt alerts are activated when the kids take them off and get ready to leave in the waiting line. This is so annoying and you have no way to disable it. 2. The remote start function is cool! However, in winter I remotely start the car in the house to warm the car up, it automatically turn off when I open the door when I come out and ready to drive. This doesn’t make any sense and I have to start it again. You cannot remotely start the engine if you remotely open the doors first. 3. In the Vehicle tab, only two items: Trip information and Vehicle alert. Both are useless. I know other vehicles have many settings in this tab. 4. The car WiFi function is ridiculous. I even didn’t use it in the trial period. Because you can either choose WiFi or Bluetooth. You cannot use both and I have to use Bluetooth for navigation and music.
Will now always buy a Toyota!. For some pretense, I am 24 years old and am most defiantly a car/truck guy. Before purchasing my new 2024 Toyota Tundra Limited Edition, I drove a Buick Lucerne CXL Special Edition. Making the switch to Toyota has been amazing. Their service, benefits, construction, integrity, and top tier performance has really sit well with me. I am just now about to hit 5,000 miles on the new Truck and the Toyota app has been fantastic! It allows me to lock and unlock my doors with ease, start my vehicle on a cold morning without even having to go outside, on a hot summer day I can start it and let it cool down. I have not had any trouble with the Toyota apps, the truck itself, or the excellent customer service that had been given. I have felt with many different vehicle brands, including luxury brands. Toyota by far to me is the best built, best benefits and best total experience. If you can find my other reviews, I am not one to give anything a 10/10. But in this case, I truly believe that Toyota deserves a 10/10 “Or 5 stars rather” for everything they have helped me with and stepping me into a gorgeous Truck I shall cherish for many years to come!
Disappointing -- Toyota can do much better. Just got a Grand Highlander and at first I was impressed. Nice app, can unlock my car from it and start the engine, etc. Within a few days problems began. The app bothers you to connect to the car every time you start the car. You think, do I have to? If I don't, can I still use CarPlay? Bluetooth? Can't tell. It failed 5-6 times to download the digital key. Does not instill confidence since it's *the car key* and has to work all the time. Once it's successful, to start the car, you need an internet connection and their remote connect service. So how does it work when signal's low or there's network trouble? It doesn't. So it's not worth much. The wifi trial bothers you *every time you open the app* to sign up. Annoyed by it, and want to cancel? The app just kicks you out to AT&T's website which only prompts you to sign up for an account. Most egregious, on 6-7 occasions now, the app has completely crashed in the worst way possible by entering a state where the screen flickers endlessly, and I have to *force reboot the phone* to recover. That's right -- I can't switch apps or force kill the app. And this is a modern iPhone 14 Pro. Embarrassing for Toyota. The app's obviously designed for upsell and not much else. How they release it with a straight face, I don't know.
I like my car and don’t like the toyota app. This app is way overpriced in my opinion. Toyotas are delivered with incredibly weak transponders which limit your range to the point where you may as well just walk to the car and start it by hand. Rather than improve the key tech they offer a pay app. The app will start your car and allow you lock or unlock your doors (most toyotas do not have lock on exit as an option). The app will let you know that you forgot to roll up a window or lock the doors. Rather than offer a common “lock on exit” function most other cars have, toyota offers a pay app. How about offering upgrades to the car and transponders? I would gladly pay 80 bucks to have my doors lock automatically when I walk away, and to be able to remote start from more than 10 meters. My office window is about 20 meters from where I park and the transponder fails to work at that distance. It’s ridiculous that you pay such a premium to have a reliable vehicle, and the solution to the cut corners attitudes are pay apps. How about just selling cars that function as advertised? I already had the dealership force an ATT plan on me to get hotspot functionality from the entertainment system. I already have hotspot on my phone and I don’t need that in my car. I don’t want to need my phone to open and start my car. This app should be offered for free as a consolation for the ineptitude of the vehicle designers to deliver the functionality you expect as part of the deal.
The Toyota App. I’m very pleased with the Toyota app. It allows me to understand my vehicle and its health and any recalls. It may have it allows me also to track the vehicle and know if there’s anything wrong with it from oil to tire pressure. My favorite feature it allows me to remotely start my vehicle. Believe it or not when my wife is at the gym, which is about 2 miles from our home. She will send me a text and asked me to start it so she doesn’t have to get into a cold vehicle in these winter months and believe it or not it starts. It’s a great feature. I recommend using the Toyota app putting your trust in Toyota is a great thing. This is my second vehicle from my dealership, Balise Toyota in West Springfield, Massachusetts, and I’m very happy with it so much so that I’m off the lease in the month of April.
I want to love it…but don’t. I’ve had my 2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid XSE for four days now. The app is wildly slow to respond to the point that it’s practically useless. I’ll unlock it from the app as I’m walking out of my house but have to try again and then I just give up and unlock it since I have the key on me. Yesterday I was trying to load up my car and tried to use the app to unlock it…I literally went back inside for my keys because it was so slow. It notifies me in the grocery store or gym it’s unlocked or the door is open when all doors are closed and I locked it as I walked away…which makes me go back out to check and find it’s all locked up. I keep getting the notification to check my back seat which is completely empty. The only aspect I really like is the remote start since there isn’t a button on my key for it…so when and if that wants to work from that app that’s great. Other than that the tracker and health status are nice.
App does not work for me and nobody can tell me why. I got the app and I got a message that the doors were unlocked on my 2019 RAV4 hybrid. So I tried to lock the doors. I got a error message: Request could not be completed. Please contact your dealer for assistance (42). So I tried to start my car with the app and it started. The app shows my tire pressure, mileage, etc. but it will not lock/unlock the doors. So I went to the dealer and showed them that I can start the case but I cannot lock/unlock the doors. We pushed the button in the car for assistance. We were told that the app is connected to my car but there is a problem with the app and I was given a phone number to call. So I called that number yesterday. I was transferred 3 or 4 times and explained my situation to each person. Then I was told I needed to contact my dealer and the man offered to transfer my phone call to them. I’m glad this is a trial period because I will not be paying for an app that doesn’t work and nobody can tell me why or get it working for me.
Great Car, Terrible App. This app seems like it was an afterthought pushed out with no consumer input. I’ve reached out MANY times to the customer support team to no effect. To be clear, they are friendly and polite but apparently we need to spend 45 minutes to an hour resetting things. Of course the dealer walked me through setting this up. They had little to no understanding of how this app was going to be influenced by what they were clicking through and just wanted to get the activation completed as I’m sure it’s a tracked metric. My major complaints: 1. Single account per vehicle; share your passwords by design. I created an account for me and my wife which was a snafu as she can’t have an account tied to her phone number AND be added to my account. I guess couples that buy cars and then get married need to call Toyota to straighten this out? 2. Notifications need to be on to use any features 3. Remote start is an add on subscription? I get the need to grasp at any and all reoccurring revenue but I stop at my car. This might be my first and last Toyota. 4. Infotainment system keeps prompting for some pin tied to the app. No clue what this is about. Look, I working in technology so this isn’t me not being a “digital native”. This app is garbage, and seems more focused on selling subscriptions than anything else. Unfortunately it’s tied deeply into the car and it’s infotainment system.
It’s just not useful and it doesn’t work well. First, it can’t do all that much. It can lock/unlock doors and remote start. *If* I set a charging schedule in the car then it will allow me to turn that schedule off from the app but I can’t turn the schedule back on from the app or edit it so if I decide I want to change the charging schedule I need to go sit in the car, turn it on and use the dashboard menu to do it. Second, it’s really hit or miss as to whether it does the the few things it is able to do. Sometimes the app succeeds in locking the doors, other times it times out. How far away from the car I am doesn’t seem to matter. I haven’t tried the remote start yet but what I’d prefer is some way to control the climate prep from the app, which is not offered as a feature so yeah, I could turn the remote start on if it worked but unless I’d set the heat/cool the night before I’d still have to go out to the car to set the temp so what’s the point? I bought this car 3 months ago so I’m assuming the app comes as a trial period, I would certainly never pay extra money for this app though. It’s really not worth anything. Wish it worked better and had more useful features.
New RAV4 Hybrid. Toyota is 15 years behind in Technology in this vehicle. Someone designed the favorites backwards. When you try to find the channel you have to keep scanning. It does not give you the channel number you are looking for. When you add to favorites it puts them in from the last one you entered. Why 2 screens side by side for the Suriusxm in favorites. Are they trying to get you in a car crash so you buy a new vehicle with them? How do you black out the screen when driving so you are not distracted by adds that ads pop up for streaming services? The rear door is dangerous. It does not stop if someone is in the way. No motion detectors. How many kids and pets will die if they are unaware of this feature? I notified the Toyota Dealership in Brooklyn Center but no response. Also, the place where the gas gauge and speed you are going is very distracting. The speed you are going is not digital so you don’t know the exact speed you are going and all the features like the backup lights and side mirrors show a car is on your side is all slapped on that panel with everything that is on. What happened to Toyota. Someone designed this vehicle with one eye open and one eye closed.
Toyota app leaves much more to be desired, 1star. In my honest opinion this app can only get a 1 star because that is the lowest. My reason for this is based on 2 primary reasons. First, the whole idea of this app is bad because Toyota is trying to make recurring money off customers and features that other automakers just give their customers on their key remote (remote start). The fact that my Tacoma doesn’t have a remote start on the key fob, at $46k is, quite unacceptable as this was intentional to get you to subscribe and pay monthly to access that. I don’t want to buy features every single month - awful customer experience! Sure, there could be some advantages to be argued which leads me to my second reason for the 1 star review. Practical functionality: Toyota highlights the use of the app for via Apple Watch, which looks great. However, the watch functionality is virtually useless because it forces you to get your phone and unlock it and open the app and try the command from there. THIS RENDERS THE WHOLE SMART WATCH FUNCTIONALITY USELESS. I have tested this repeatedly and it seems that unless I have opened my app on my phone within only the previous couple of hours, the watch commands will not work. Again this is so frustrating and literally ruins the practical real world functionality of the this. I hope this gets ready my folks in development.
Finicky remote start. This is a great idea but not executed well. My remote start usually fails because my wife doesn’t lock her car when she gets home. I’ve installed cheap remote starts on my other vehicles that work 99% of the time with a two-way remote that doesn’t require a subscription from almost a mile away. For the $8 per month, it should always work. You probably need to just combine the lock and remote start feature like every other remote start. It would also be nice if it ran longer. We live in Alaska and 10 minutes is not enough time. Maybe add a setting for 15 or 20 minutes? I’m also constantly getting “check your rear seat” notifications. We have two car seats in the middle row and the back row is folded down all the time. There should be a setting to zero the weight on the seats or add a car seat option. I bet most people that buy a Highlander have children so I’m guessing it’s a common annoyance.
Tire pressure , now gas gauge, both gone since iOS 15.6. Was working OK until recent iPhone iOS update. Now all the get on the app is my VIN and the latest service info. Why is this app so hard to fix??? Hey! Here’s the latest: I just learned if you’re having issues with the Toyota App that comes with the purchase of a Prius, you MUST continue to subscribe to Safety Connect ($80+ a year!) after the first “complementary” year if you want features like tire pressure, fuel guage, mileage, etc to continue showing on your app! The App Store doesn’t tell you this; the books and pamphlets don’t tell you this; the dealership doesn’t tell you this; the service tech doesn’t tell you this. Even the app itself doesn’t tell you this when it fails to display what you expected to see. I only by happenstance found out by calling and talking for a while with a lady at the Toyota support line for multimedia services. I’m writing all this to help all you other Toyota owners that have been frustrated by this app. Now you know: the app is merely a way for a huge corporation like Toyota to make a few more bucks off an unsuspecting public. Is this the best way to promote brand loyalty?? Caveat emptor!
Fairly useful tool when it works.. This product is a work in progress. It has many useful features but it is mostly intermittent as to which features are functioning at any given time. For example 1. Most mornings it does not know it is daylight and the screen displays in night mode for the first 10 to 20 minutes of the drive. 2. In the mornings it goes through an update process and does not display the GPS screen until that is accomplished. This has sometimes taken over 30 minutes and I have been forced to use my smartphone gps for driving directions. 3. The Recently uses Addresses does not display directions for many hours. It says it is off the map and the display appears to show we are near India somewhere in the Indian Ocean. What gives? 4. And we are paying $15/month for this Toyota experiment.
App has lots of bugs. I downloaded this app after purchasing a 2022 GR86. When I first got the car, the app worked really well with connected services, and then one day my remote connect completely stopped working. If I tried turning on the car, the app would spin forever and give me an error. There is terrible support documentation for the connected services and often takes multiple calls to get working. I called in and was redirected a few times and finally was instructed to call in my car. After calling using the SOS button in the car, I tried getting them to disconnect and reconnect the car to my account multiple times, none of which worked. Brought my car into the dealership and they had no idea where to start to get this issue fixed. Said it would take multiple days in the shop just to reboot the computer and troubleshoot and I decided the convenience of the app was not worth the headache. Car behaves and drives perfectly fine, just no connected services.
Trying the app again. When I initially bought the vehicle I tried the app and I hated it so I deleted it but then I decided I wanted to use Alexa in the car since I love it in my home. Every time I open Alexa I have to go to settings and select hands free turn on every time. I say Alexa and the vehicle doesn’t even recognize it. When I select the talk button it doesn’t recognize Alexa either. My vehicle is a 17 so I would understand some of the features not working but I believe this is basic. I love my truck and would love it more if this app was more user friendly and functional. I also hate that it said says the app has to be visible in order for this to be used. As long as it’s open it should be considered “visible”. I use the app so that I may listen to my XM stations that I am unable to access over 200 and something. I also wish when it played an XM station it’d at least show the artist and song like I had it turned to XM. I guess the latter is more of apart of a wish list.
Horrible Service! Do not Renew. After transitioning from the free trial to a paid subscription, my experience took a sharp downturn. Despite receiving a purchase confirmation, there was a lack of clear instructions. Attempting to connect via the app led to a frustrating wait for authentication, which never showed. After waiting for 5 minutes, then 30, I resorted to booking an in-person appointment with my Toyota dealership. Yet!! They were unable to assist me at all, offering instructions that proved no help. Following their advice, I contacted many recommended numbers, only to encounter people who were equally clueless about the situation. When I finally reached the Toyota Brand Engagement Center, exasperated and seeking a refund, instead, they constantly wasted my time explaining how I should have reached out so I can get “Authorization”. A subscription I purchased and yet I could not even get in unless I connect with someone else?? They even denied my refund request without explanation. It's disheartening to have invested so much time and effort into an app only to be met with such disappointment and lack of support.
What's the point now?. I’ve been a loyal Toyota owner for years, and the Toyota App used to be a valuable tool in managing my vehicle. However, I’m extremely disappointed with the recent decision to remove the connected app features. This change has rendered the app nearly useless for me. Previously, I could check tire pressure, and even locate my vehicle if I forgot where I parked. These features were incredibly convenient and made my ownership experience much more enjoyable. Now, with these functionalities gone, I find myself questioning the purpose of the app altogether. While the interface remains user-friendly and the basic information about my vehicle is still accessible, it pales in comparison to what it used to offer. The loss of these key features has left a significant gap in the usefulness of the Toyota App. It feels like a step backwards in terms of technological convenience. I sincerely hope that Toyota reconsiders this decision and brings back the connected app features. Until then, I find it hard to recommend this app to fellow Toyota owners who, like me, relied on its convenience in their day-to-day lives.
Stolen Truck = No help. I got my truck stolen overnight and there’s a subscription option on here for just that called Safety Connect that would be able to track the vehicle if it was stationary for 30 minutes. I had done all the necessary steps such as filing a police report, getting the app and subscription in order to use this service and then notifying the center of the situation. Upon all of this the center replied that they would need to verify the police report that I had provided and I had provided not only the officer in charge of the report’s phone number, but also the department being Houston so that they could call either or to verify and get on with this very time sensitive process believing that it would be handled. I then reached out to the officer several hours later to find that he was never contacted by them and there had been no calls in attempting to do so. Much to my frustration there was no contact on my side of this issue from Toyota’s Safety Connect regarding the issue and when contacted and connected with the officer on a three way call continued to disregard my plea for help and argued until the very last minute and finally caved in to just calling the Houston station to verify the case was in fact existing. Hours wasted on what should’ve been simple and could’ve been easily communicated to me and fixed are the result of this review. This service is too much of a challenge to actually do anything with if you have any issues such as mine.
Still doesn’t work properly. After latest update the “strive for perfection” is still questionable. Air recirculation feature on the remote start is gone. Even if it is left on when the vehicle is turned off, it will not auto turn back on using remote connect or not. Living in Texas we only have 2 seasons, hot and not as hot so the ability to use air recirculation has effectively been deactivated for me through the app. Siri constantly has issues with the voice command to remote start or any other action constantly saying there’s been some sort of problem with the app. if I turn the phone off and turn it back on, I might get one or two chances of using voice command to remote start the vehicle then after that, there’s some sort of app issue that will prevent the voice command from working until I restart the phone again. The 10 minute timer doesn’t seem to work all the time showing how long the remote start will keep engine running. Custom climate settings like air direction don’t seem to save. Temp still seems to work so I guess it’s not a total failure but do these updates ever get tested before release? I mean come on ppl.
Remote Start from Anywhere. The app itself works well! You do have to verify your identity several times, but you wouldn’t want someone who’s not you to be able to use remote connect to unlock your doors. The right sales consultant helping you set it up makes a difference! Capability to remote start your vehicle from any distance away from your vehicle free for the first year! Currently 10 years free on the safety connect where you can hit the SOS button in your vehicle behind the rearview mirror to contact Toyota or a live emergency responder along with having emergency responders immediately notified upon a major impact collision with your vehicle (in case if you can’t speak or are are unconscious), and they can come straight to you in this scenario! And 10 years free of service connect where you can be notified through the app about your vehicle’s current health reports, applicable service campaigns, or recalls that affect your vehicle. Remember having to type your vehicle’s VIN into the “Does my vehicle have a recall?” search bar? Days of the past my friends!
Why is it so bad?. I don’t know why this app is so bad. It takes forever to load. And everytime—every. Single. Time. I get into my car it pops up and interupts whatever I am doing and asks to communicate with me car. Why does that happen EVERYTIME??? It clearly tells me my car is unlocked. And I go to it and it is locked. In the freezing cold mornings I try to use the remote start and 9/10 times it says “sorry, it’s taking longer than usual to connect.” The car is in my driveway. I just learned that you can hit you lock button on the fob 3 times (holding it down on the 3rd try) and it will state the car. Why am I paying for an app???? Also, I don’t know who to complain to but apple play used to be so much better. Now when a text comes in—the car reads it but doesn’t mute the radio. So I can hear it. And then it’s already read so I can’t go back, turn the radio down and rehear it. The same thing happens when I compose a text. It doesn’t mute the radio so it picks up all this ambient noise. If anyone out there knows how to fix this I would be forever grateful. Thank you.
Works when it feels like it!. I’ve had my Tacoma since new in ‘21. The trial went very well for the remote features so I decided to pay for the services. WHAT A MISTAKE! it’s quick to tell me that I left it unlocked but by the time the APP decides to work, I could’ve walked outside and used the keys!! I have times when I want to make sure everything is ok but it’s still reading yesterday’s status and won’t refresh even when restarting my phone! The app for the Apple Watch and Alexa is even worse! I have to unlock my phone and sometimes open the app just to start my truck!! At that point, just use the Darn phone APP!! The only useful thing about the APP is that it starts the truck. I have to wait a few minutes for it to kick in but that’s all it’s good for! I also pay for the SOS feature and I hope I never have to use it because I’m sure AAA would get to me before the SOS sends a notification! I had an aftermarket remote starter put on my wife’s ‘21 RAV4 with the phone APP and it works flawlessly and much much cheaper!! I will be changing over this year! Sorry Toyota, I love your cars but you need to keep up with the times! You can’t sell 2024s with 2015 technology!
Awful changes. The prior app was working great - as long as it was open on my phone I could use the connected apps on my Highlander. With this update I have to manually go into the Toyota app, scroll down to select the app suite, which brings me to another page where I click a “connect” button. This happens every time I drive and occasionally I have to sign in again despite selecting “keep me signed in”. UPDATE: STILL GARBAGE. They have fixed the issue of not having to go through steps and manually connect anytime I re-open the app. HOWEVER- the sound through the iHeart radio app doesn’t work. The first time the app is installed and opened it works. But each time after the sound is so quiet through my car it’s not even audible until >35 (which would normally be way too loud). I tested it out just now, I re-installed the app and the sound worked just fine with audio coming through the car. I then closed the app, turned off my car, then reopened the app and turned on my car - back to no sound unless my volume is almost maxed out on my car.
The latest update is awful. The previous version of the app was very useful and generally organized well. The latest update completely revised the interface and it is awful. Very difficult to use, links and words mushed together and generally unintuitive to use. The revised app places priority on unimportant and rarely used functionality like insurance policy's or scheduling a service visit. These are in your face but the important links like current vehicle location, tire pressure, sunroof and window status, mileage, remote start, door locking etc are very hard or even impossible to find. No excuse for this. I was planning on keeping and paying for the Toyota remote services subscription once my trial expired but not anymore. Toyota cut your losses and please go back to the previous version! Go back to the previous version! Go back to the previous version. Go back to the previous version. Go back to the previous version. I cant say it enough! And yes i left feedback through the app too! 8/1/23 update. The app is now fully functional again but wish it didn't have advertising in my face. Not only do i pay for the yearly service but the advertisement banner gets in the way of the app controls
(Read) Data collecting in new update !. I’ve had the app for a few years and it worked “ ok “ yes just ok, after having the app for a few years I questioned the value of what you pay yearly but still renewed for another year. After the recent update I will not be renewing anymore; here’s the reason: Like every application these days they want some of your most personal information. The new update forces you to consent to the “ Connected Services Master Data Consent “ which asks for your precise location information for not only Toyota but also its affiliates who ever they are for research and data analysis what ever that could be and if you decline every part of the app that convinced you to pay for the service in the first place is now consequently not available. So essentially Toyota is asking for things things that only your husband or wife may ask for your location and information 24/7 and not for free but for a monthly fee and if you don’t consent the app doesn’t work. Just another large corporation being extremely intrusive with their technology arm of their company. Read your terms of service before consenting these companies know you most likely won’t. If you don’t care this review isn’t for you.
Glitchy- left stranded. The digital key is glitchy & not 100% reliable. The idea is very convenient t to have your phone as the key- but I did get stranded about after one month of use. I have a 2024 Prius. Luckily I was home and grabbed the fob key, but I no longer trust it for long drives. Also what needs work is the look feature. When I park, exit, I hit the door lock button on the handle, but it never senses the digital key in my phone- so I have to open my phone, double check blue tooth is blue and not red on app, then open & close door and then the lock works. I even changed the sensory to be available at the max distance so that theoretically my phone could be in my purse- but it’s just glitchy and does t work well. I hope Toyota figures out how to improve it, whether on their side with the app or with communicating with iPhones. I was shocked that I’ll be expected to pay $80 a year for this service and that what I have now is just a one year free trial. I definitely wouldn’t pay extra for a glitchy key- but I’d be tempted if it worked well & was reliable.
Climate control in Remote Connect not functioning. I have only had my Grand Highlander for 6 weeks and am so far appreciating the App. However, the driver’s side seat heater icon is “on” (and yes, the seat itself is heating) and it remains on no matter what I do. I am able to turn the passenger seat heater on and off in the App but not the driver’s side. Also, I have the Climate controls set at 58 degrees but when I just got in the car the controls were set at 74 degrees. Are these bugs that need to be fixed? Where can I get operational support. I don’t see a troubleshooting or support option in the App. Note: I have deleted and reinstalled the App and the driver’s side seat heater setting remained at “on”. Frustrating as I am headed to Florida and it is already plenty hot there, and I need to be able to utilize my Remote Connect climate feature so I don’t have to keep loading my dog into a sizzling hot car.
Pointless waste of time. Although the Toyota Entune app was not flawless, I was able to use it. However, I guess Toyota made some changes so the Entune app would no longer connect to my Prius, presumably to “encourage” people to switch over to their newer Toyota app after all the annoying little popup messages urging us to do so. Well I reluctantly downloaded this newer Toyota app and entered all of my info to create an account, but the app refused to allow me to add my 2016 Prius! I tried scanning the VIN number, scanning the barcode, and even typing in the VIN manually, but the app kept showing a message asking me to confirm that I had entered the VIN correctly. Finally I phoned Toyota Customer Support for help, only to be told that I would need to provide proof that I own the car!! I bought it new from a Toyota dealer in 2016 and have been getting it serviced at a Toyota dealership for all recommended periodic maintenance ever since, so they must have it in their records! I finally decided that whatever benefits might be offered by the app were not worth my going to any more trouble. I have deleted this app because I am DONE.
Paying for this app? Wish I didn’t have to…. I only have this app for remote start in the winter. I was not told it was required when I bought my pickup, nor was I told I had to pay for remote start. It is glitchy at best. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t work. I frequently get notifications that my pickup is unlocked but won’t let me lock it. I physically check the vehicle and it is in fact locked, only to see that the notification date/time was from another day but delivered the notification today. Make sure, if you get notifications, to check that they are recent/current. If internet is slow (wifi or data) it just states it is too slow to log into the app, even though the internet is still fast enough to stream videos. Extraordinary how awful the app is for a paid service. Had I known about the paid subscription service for remote start I would not have purchased the vehicle. It is a major factor in my decision to get rid of my toyota. Getting a vehicle where I don’t have to pay monthly for remote start that doesn’t even work half the time.
Waste of Time. The updated version of the app is a waste of time and space. The home screen that I have does not match the home screen in the tutorial or what is shown here on the App Store. The only thing I can see is my tire pressure is OK and my engine is OK-it also looks like I need to schedule maintenance and gives the impression of being overdue when that is not the case. There’s nothing anywhere in this app that shows me if my doors are locked, if the hatch is open, if the engine is running. I feel like these are all things that showed up in the previous version. I don’t look at it regularly because I really don’t have a need to, however tonight, my daughter accidentally locked the key in the car (how is that even possible??) I remember the dealer saying we could unlock it remotely using the app. Nope! There’s nothing even showing that the car is locked let alone an option to unlock. Aside from all that, I set up the app on my phone initially because I picked up the car from the dealer. My husband download it and tried to create an account. Nope. So then he tried to login using my credentials. Nope. Apparently you can only have it on one device so if your significant other wants to be involved, you’re out of luck.
$8 Monthly Subscription for remote start?. While I know subscription based services is all the rage with video games, movie streaming platforms, and music platforms, but for remote start on a vehicle? A pregnant woman could really use the remote start to warm up the car to drop her oldest child off at school without having to risk slipping on ice. The same can be said for the elderly when they leave their house to grab breakfast with a friend at their local diner. I know “back in my day you had to walk out and do it yourself”, but we are now past the days of walking up hill both ways in the snow. We have come so far with technology that it opens up so many doors. The dissatisfaction with this app (and Toyota) stems from my pregnant wife no longer being able to press a button to defrost the car without paying a globally known car manufacturer an $8.00 monthly subscription fee to do it from inside the house. Toyota, my request is that remote start alone be a free service for the sake of making life easier on its customers. Until then it looks like I will be “walking up hill both ways in the snow” to warm up the car for my pregnant wife.
App needs serious improvement.. I have always enjoyed Toyota’s products. But this app is borderline trash. The latest update straight up broke the feature to schedule appointments directly. That was one of the best functions provided. Plus it will randomly log me out of the app upon closing it without allowing for FACE ID to quickly log me back in. This is cumbersome when I am short on time and need to make sure I have locked my car after walking far away or I need to start it to cool off the inside and leather seats on a hot day. It pains to to include the subscription plan for remote start has also been crappy. First off the prices are a bit high up there for a simple remote start function when the software doesn’t even work half the time. It ruins my experience when I remote start the car during hot or cold days only to come to a car that didn’t turn on or it was on and then shuts off right when I unlock the door. It is very counter intuitive. Not to mention, three subscriptions instead of just one? It give the feeling that Toyota is shifting toward a heavy business oriented approach rather than the quality of service provided to the customers.
Opening when the car starts. This app won’t connect to the vehicle unless I click Allow twice. Sometimes it never appears or it doesn’t connect. CarPlay seems to connect 50% of the time. You cannot connect using the Settings in the car most of the time and the app doesn’t have a button within to connect to your car’s Bluetooth. It seems like it’s all based on the app, so I bought the subscription and that seemed to help a little, but I still hate how the smart phone is so integrated into the computer of the car. Auto start is cool, but for $25/month it doesn’t seem worth it unless you are actively opening the app and starting your car when you walk to it. The notifications for windows down and car unlocked are nice, but if your phone is on Do Not Disturb or any other Focus often, you’ll miss them. I love and hate this. I hope there’s an update that makes it more seamless getting in the vehicle.
So Disappointed. I had the App, stayed disappointed & let my Remote Services expire. Decided to give it another shot & well, that was a literal week long fiasco to get operational again. Not to mention calls for assistance, communication barrier, forwarded higher up because no one can solve, week long wait so yeah...not pleased. Second time around & equally disappointed. Never stays working without having to start the sign in process all over, get verification codes, run downstairs to garage & scan VIN. Half the time, I don't even get the alerts as to vehicle (RAV) status. It might work, it might not on any given day. The amount this costs & sells itself as being able to do, compared to what I actually get is NOT worth it. Probably the most under-performing App I've ever had & I'm paying for that??? Don't advise I need to do "this or that." I repeat, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Works less this 2nd time around. I won't miss it when it expires.
Payment. Update- the app payment piece stopped working again. The website won’t allow me to use my active pw or change it. I continue to receive errors although it recognizes my login name. So then I called to make my payment 3 days ago. Using the automated system, I paid my regular payment and included a payment to my principle. All in one call. Turns out their system only recognized the additional principle payment. I honestly am astonished at how Toyota, a well respected brand, has screwed up their financial payment processes. Their app, website, and now phone system can’t process anything. They need to revamp who is in charge of this program. I’m embarrassed for them. The payment feature on the app stopped working. I tried to pay via the website but my credentials don’t work. Apparently an email was generated for me that is not familiar and doesn’t match my login but it’s also my login? This is Toyota. One would think they could create an app that works better and doesn’t have so many technical issues.
What happened?. This app use to be great. I have a 2020 Prius so it didn’t unlock the doors; however, the app was useful for seeing fuel level, odometer reading, and TPMS data with a diagram indicating tire position. It sounds as if those features have been rolled into a paid subscription as the app photos in the App Store still show those as options. Since my car doesn’t really fit the subscription paradigm, those useful bits of information are no longer available in my case. All I have is an image of the car and options for service, roadside assistance, and the manual. I’m extremely disappointed. It’s bad enough that the qi charger in the car never really worked; the gps app and Alexa were always spotty and seem to be phased out; but now, this an app that was once useful, reduced to basically a still image and credit card advertisement. Please revert the fuel, odometer, and tire pressure sensor readings to the basic features and restore the usefulness of this app. Otherwise, I don’t really see a need for keeping it anymore.
disappointed. i thought toyota was the best cars ever existed and guys believe me it’s all lie don’t let how much they sold get u twisted all so i wish i had different brand of car i invested all i had on my toyota camry base on most my family ppl talk good about the relationship that the dealers offer so i have 2019 camry xse beautiful car i made sure im on time for all my maintenance till the car reach 85k miles the i had engine light i drove the car to the dealer they said you whole transmission is gone so i was like how i just changed the transmission oil on the car was on 65,000 mile anyway long story short I felt like the problem wasn’t me or the way I drive because the car was still brand new and still brand new and just just a transmission on bed out of nowhere so I feel like that’s something has to do with toyota to pay on being loyal to customer they treating me like if they broke and they can’t help anything so I’m disappointed on how the car went bad and still young also disappointed of the loyalty from toyota last thing they wanna offer they only offered me 30% of the cost of the price which is the original price is around 9k and i let your guys imagine what im going through i will have my story in every page every social media if i can in the news i will pls share my story by different car by the car you like because at the end of the day no one is loyal to u so never trust toyota it’s the same as the rest of brands
Does not add much features to justify it. The only good two good things about this app is that it gives you the vehicles VIN and facilitates syncing the vehicle with CarPlay. The alerts are turned on, but the app seems to need to be running in the background. Left the passenger window down accidentally no alerts. I checked to see if the alerts were turned on and they were. The app has to be open to use Siri voice commands and it’s buggy when it decides to work. Would love to be able to unlock the vehicle from my Apple Watch; however, the app is on my watch, but the feature is unavailable when I attempt to use it. The time and effort trying to troubleshoot the app is not worth it when I can simply reach in my pocket and press a button on the key fob. The app does show the doors unlocked, windows open, mileage and gas tank levels, but I expect these features to disappear once the one year trial subscription expires. I have a vehicle from another manufacturer that has an app that controls the vehicle in a similar manner. The subscription is just too expensive for the novelty of the features with the Toyota app. For the exorbitant amount of money you pay for a new vehicle this app feature should be included without a subscription.
I am so happy but …. I had a 2009 Prius with an “idiot” light to indicate that one of my 4 tires had low air pressure which meant that I didn’t know which tire required inflation. I saw that my 2021 Camry Hybrid LE (“LE” means Least Expensive and Least Equipped) had the ability to calibrate the TPMS so one of the very first things that I did upon receiving my car was to make sure that all of my tires were inflated to the correct PSI and that I set (calibrated) the TPMS. To do that was challenging since I had to remove the wheel covers to reach the tire valve stems. Getting the wheel covers back on was VERY challenging (I thought that I was playing “Whack-A-Mole”). Anyway, I discovered that I didn’t get to see the individual tire pressures and was back to the problem with the 2009 Prius AND I had to deal with taking wheel covers off and putting them back on! I even purchased a very expensive high end OBD2 reader by BlueDriver hoping that it could read the individual tire pressure but I discovered that even though the Camry knew it I couldn’t access it! But now the most recent version of the app lets me see each individual tire’s pressure! I hope that in the near future I can check remotely via the app if my doors are locked or unlocked!
Working good so far. UPDATE*** I was at the movies, the credits started to roll, and I took my phone out to remote start, and it worked from inside the theater first try. I think the reason I’m having so much success with this app isn’t making sure The vehicle status is updated. Sometimes it says last updated and it was the last time you use the app or vehicle. Swiping down where it says vehicle status will refresh the status. I did that in the theater before trying to remote start. Like I said it worked right away. OP: I just purchased a brand new 2022 Corolla Cross, so far the app has worked for me. Twice it told me it failed to remote start the car and I tried it again right away and it worked the second time both times. A family member of mine has a 2020 Camry and has tried to use the app for years and has only had frustration, so I understand why the app is rated so low and I have my fingers crossed maybe it is on the upswing because of my early successful experiences using it. If I start to experience what my family member did and what the majority of the reviews on here have, I will adjust my review. also, since I got my car, the family member has had success with the app too. It is unacceptable for Toyota to produce an app like what this has been so far. It should be a great app and work every time. I hope this is the first of many positive reviews.

Efficace.
Make it free. My Ford app is free and lets me start truck back to back. This one is $9.99 a month Canadian on a $80k truck!!! Plus it doesn’t even have climate control to adjust settings. So $10 a month to start it for ten mins? Make it free.
Should Be Free App. After purchasing brand new Toyota vehicle I feel not fair to pay monthly to use vehicle’ features.
En bon français c’est de la cr… de m….. Faut bin payer le gros prix et que Toyota joue sur sa réputation d’autrefois pour ne pas être en 2024 avec leur app. de M….
Useless. I don’t use many apps but when I do, this one sucks the most! As with all of Toyota’s info/interactive it is in the dark ages. Doesn’t work half the time, and the fact I have to pay for this crap after my “free” trial period is ludicrous. Do they make good vehicles? I’m not sure. I don’t like 21.9 L/100 km’s fuel economy. I had better fuel economy (by far) in my 2004 chev crew cab 4x4. Sorry, wrong review!
The app is great. The app is great, not so happy with the dealers not having any stock, I got crushed on my trade because there is no inventory in Canada, meanwhile across the border the Toyota lots are over flowing.
Toyota Rav4. Pas assez d’informations et de détails sur le véhicule. Merci
Version ios 15.8.3 not supported with version 2.5.4. I can’t reinstall the version 2.5.2. The Toyota app force the update and now my iPhone freeze and cannot recognise my old ios version
Insane. So, I paid $55000 for a brand new car. And this isn’t even included as standard? What was Toyota thinking
New version requires iOS 16. Breaks current version. I was just told that there is a new version of the App; however, that version is not supported on my phone. It does not give me the option to skip the update. So, even though I still have the version that works on iOS 15, I am blocked from using it. How irritating is that.
App logs me out. App keeps logging me out, have to log in every time to remote start my car which I already pay monthly for?
Amazing app and easy to use. Very well put together app and is very easy to use!
Problème. Je n’ai pas ios 16 donc pas capable de télécharger la mise a jour et plus capable d’utiliser l’ancienne version qui me convenait parfaitement…. Comment on fait pour continuer mon ancienne version ??? Ketchup 139
It works, but the experience could be better. The app seems to be fully functional, but continues to use location services continueously even after the app is closed.
Not reliable. The app worked for the first two months and then stopped working properly. I still get notifications but the app will not allow me to access the app, I get a “sorry for the inconvenience, but app isn’t working” message. I tried signing back in and I’m still unable to access the app. There’s no way I will be paying for this app once my free trial is over if I can’t reply on the app to work. I’m very disappointed because when it works, it’s a great app.
Few Issues. No way I’d pay any money for this app. Has some neat features, but should be 100% included with the purchase of a new car. Why does it take so long to do anything? Definitely not worth using to actually lock/unlock car. Why can’t the Apple Watch app work independently of the phone app? Step 1: open Apple Watch app. “Please log into app on phone to use.” Huh? Step 2: pull out phone and open Toyota app. Step 3: use Apple Watch app. So dumb. You have to force close the app when you’re done using because it drains your battery so fast. Useless.
Not good for places with Winter. This app takes 48 to 72 hours to connect - or so they say. I “re-activated” the app on Friday. Today is Wednesday. Not sure why it costs $10 CAD when it really should be part of the original purchase of the vehicle.
Not a great cold weather app. Living in northern Canada means several weeks of frigid temperatures below-40 C. We need to be able to run our vehicles regularly to keep them from freezing up. The latest update to the app where the remote start is disabled after 2 -10 minute cycles of remote starting without a passenger is inconvenient.
Toyota. The best.
Horrible App. I am renting a Toyota Camry and, unlike most vehicles, you have to the Toyota app. The one app cost money and the second app won’t accept the 2023 VIN. It is an easy decision that I will not rent or buy a Toyota product again. Thanks for making future decision easier. Brutal.
Meh. Expected functionality. Should be standard w/ pitch. Agree with everyone. Just greedy & insult to buyers to charge $10/m for this when I’ve just paid $60K. Functionality is adequate but lock/unlock very slow. Getting after-market TPMS to work in app massive headache.
Remote Start. Can only run vehicle for 10minutes. Ford would run up to 30 minutes. At -40 degrees 10 minutes is not near long enough to warm up the vehicle
Toyota Tacoma. Locking and unlocking is awesome starting should be able to do more features when you have to pay for it
Overpriced service. Subscription a cash grab and rip of for vehicle you pay premium for
Amazing, easy to use. Works well and super easy to use.
Service. J’ai écrit, via l’application pour un rendez-vous de service. Je n’ai jamais été appelée. Je trouve que c’est une lacune, il ne devrait pas y avoir l’optio si ça ne fonctionne pas!
Unbelievable. Can’t believe they will make us pay for that slow app… and i went and buy a 37000$ car but that is not enough to give you a free app that dont even work properly..
Great App.. An app to help you feel at ease to sleep at night without any worries of thieves stealing your car. Since Toyota can track your car. Including many other features.
Remote start. The only thing I don’t like about the app is you have to pay for it. I don’t think you should have to. Hyundai doesn’t charge for theirs.
Should be free. This app isn’t ground breaking or innovative. It’s so basic and very annoying that we have to pay for it
I have no trouble!. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I had no trouble. Connected to my vehicle easily and app works great! Got a notification while I was in a store that I forgot to lock the car. Opened app and locked it. Perfect. ☺️👍🏻
Couple of issues. Shouldn’t have to pay, as mentioned in another review it should’ve been included with the price of a new car. Also, after the update, I’m not getting notifications of when the car has been remote started, which means having to try and start it again because i don’t know if it has remote start or not.
I read these reviews but…. Toyota doesn’t read them or care. There’s only a couple of lame responses to call them. LOL this was some junior executive’s idea, (obviously a relative), that got a half assed go ahead but no one knows what they’re doing and nobody’s in charge. Corporate fail from an otherwise able car company. 😞
Ripoff. Paid $58000 for a new Toyota and they want me to pay $10/month on top of that for an app with a couple useful features. You would be better off getting an airtag and installing your own remote start. Ripoff cash grab by toyota. If it was free (which it should be) I would give it 3 stars.
So Convenient!. Ever sit down to relax of an evening and then suddenly wonder, “Did I lock the car?“ You don’t want to get up put your shoes back on and go out and check, but on the other hand, you’ll sit there and wonder about it all night. Wonder no more. Just pull out your phone and check your app. If you forgot to lock the car, just press the screen and it locks for you. The backseat warning reminder is very helpful, especially for those with kids and pets.
apps accessible!!!. Bonne apps mais impossible de programmer sur plusieurs jours le démarrage à distance d’un Prime RAV4!!! big de l’apps !!
Start. Woulk love to be able to have it started for longer. Leave my dog in the vehicle and air conditioning on. But it only goes 2 x for 9 minutes. Wish I could select the length of tine myself
Stopped working. Toyota broke the app or the functionality with last update. Paying for service that doesn’t work any longer.
Conveniently. Specially when it’s winter
Start feature. I’m not sure why this won’t work. It says wifi connection isn’t strong enough. But it will lock and unlock.
Tacoma app. Good app but expensive
Avis. J’adore mon bz4
Subscriptions Based. Super frustrated that you pay a lot of money to get a car starter installed that will have the ability to start with the app (selling. Feature for the company) and then after a year they make you pay $10 a month to be able to use it. Total crap that you pay for a car starter made by Toyota instead of a third party just to have the phone starting feature and then they start charging you monthly for it. I’ve already paid for the product so it’s just a money grab from the company to then have to pay monthly to even use it. Toyota is scamming people because I asked about a subscription at the dealership and they told me they don’t do that, even after I clarified never have to? And they said yup, we don’t do subscriptions. Lies. It’s all just lies to get your money.
Bien. Ça fonctionne bien, mais esthétiquement parlant, on repassera.
Insult to 2021 owners. How can such a recent car not be able to integrate new app features. Toyota is ripping off good paying customers and penalizing those to take a chances on new release models. Shame on you.
For The Awesome Ladies of Belleville, Toyota. When l got my RAV 4 last Sept 5 at this Branch, we dealt with these 3 Awesome and Knowledgeable ladies. Nicky - The Financial Analyst, Melissa - The Sales Specialist, & Daniel who l’m gonna called the Car Function Specialist. We are happy for their professionalism and service, and friendly too. They’re always open for any queries we need to know and any ideas in getting a car perspectively. Thank you so much guys for your good service. We had a good experience with you. More power and keep up the good public relation!
Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!
Junk. The basic points: Your car should auto lock when you leave it. This app just emails you and tells you your car is unlocked. Then it takes at least 60 seconds for app to load, the command doesn’t work a few times, then it works. I leased a base model Chevy that locked when the fob walked away. Never had to deal with a poorly built app. Nav. Garbage. The maps are not intuitive if you’re used to google or Apple. They lag. You miss turns. Toyota is a car company. Stick to cars. Just give me a display with CarPlay, keep the crap software. Invasive- collects all kinds of data (wifi use, driving reports, locations, etc) and shares it with a bunch of vendors for the first year you have the vehicle. The “services” are “free”. They just sell all your info to insurance companies and who knows who else. Then after a year, you get to pay for it! The wifi service/hot spot is not even as good as my mobile service. What a joke. The entire app could just be a functional key fob with remote start & auto lock. Services like accident detection, navigation, etc all cost $80/year. Don’t get them. I pay the $8 for remote start, thats why it gets 1 star. Otherwise I’d give it zero if I could.
Excellent security, or flaw?. A few months ago it was simply annoying and a little embarrassing. When I tried to have Siri start your car and the app required you to sign in again, because it was only once a month or so. That even felt somewhat too frequent for a re authentication. But lately it has been every other day or sometimes two or three times a day to require a login to use the app to communicate with my Prius. Some things don’t even work such as the heated seats or heated steering wheel don’t come on when I start the vehicle in the morning. The app also does not give me the same message of “maintenance required soon” that the dash does. The dealer I took it to Said that’s odd. Overall, the app has great potential if the developers would actually use it in daily life to people that really use it in life.
Works for security, say goodbye to privacy. Lock/unlock work fine, and it is safe and I suppose neat that the app tells you if your car is left unlocked. Remote start works fine. However, this app is a nightmare for your privacy. Starting with the service agreement, you are signing away so much of your privacy. They put these walls between you and your ability to expunge their use of your personal data. They constantly try to cajole you into using their awful driving habit tracking “feature” where they look at your driving habits to ostensibly save you money on insurance. People have been saving money on insurance for years without needing to tell everybody how they’re driving. That’s a crock of you know what. I have always loved Toyotas products, but this is a fiasco. Also, bring back the V8, four-cylinder turbos are ridiculous.
Makes your brand new super expensive vehicle feel like a cheap piece of tech.. Toyota makes my favorite vehicles, I had my first Tundra from 2010 to 2020 and recently got a 2022 Tundra, I’ve always loved toyota for their reliability and capabilities. But this app and the expectation to pay $15 a month to use the features of a 50k$ plus truck is absurd, especially when the app constantly signs you out and takes 30 seconds to load every time you open it. I drove a Ram power wagon for a year and their app was free and everything worked seamlessly and quickly. Not to mention the key had a quick start double tap to pre-heat or cool your truck, a feature that has been standard in most vehicles for the last 5 years is now blocked behind a pay wall. This app is garbage and Toyotas entry into a subscription model to use features you payed tens of thousands for is not going to help what is otherwise a reliable brand.
App does not work - Info is wrong. This App is useless! I drove @ 1/4 mile and the App said the PSI in ALL 4 tires had dropped. This has been happening for a while as I keep checking. They are at 29 pressure now, but my car dashboard has not given me a warning, and they don’t look low visually. It goes in for maintenance tomorrow, so will see. Also, it no longer shows the actual number of miles you can drive before empty. Previously it would actually show the miles left. Now, It just shows a bar.. no way to measure against gallons or etc. I did not renew the Drive Connect service because in the year I’ve had the car I never used these features. However, this should have no bearing on the other information being inaccurate. It’s all a ripoff.. they use these features as a selling point..without telling you some are for short periods of time, then you have to pay monthly!!
Watch App Is Pointless. The app on iPhone is decent enough. No complaints. I can’t talk to the remote start feature however because my garage is too small to accommodate venting fumes from a running engine, and since I can’t elect to turn the AC on via the remote to cool the vehicle interior down, I don’t bother to try it anywhere else either. Mostly this review is about the watch app. It’s pointless. You can’t do anything with the app on your watch until you open the app on your phone first. Why bother with the app on your watch at that point? I’ve used the app on my phone to unlock/relock my vehicle when I didn’t have my keys on me. It would be nice if I could do the same basic remote functions of the app on my watch without requiring my phone.
Disappointed. This app has so many issues I don’t even know where to start. 2 stars because it works sometimes. For my RAV4 Prime the app shows the charge percentage but estimated range is intermittently not shown, and percentage is not displayed in the vehicle, makes it difficult to see the charging status. Remote start/lock/unlock etc. work half of the time and are very slow when it works. No way to stop charging or setting schedule in the app. The MPG charts are extremely buggy and the data is wrong (e.g. I drove mostly in EV mode and app shows zero total EV distance). The new UI is sluggish, swiping/scrolling feel unnatural and different to the OS and other apps. My device has 120Hz refresh rate and the app feels like 15fps. I want a fast, efficient app more than a good looking UI. Please consider rolling back to the previous version and launch this update again when it is properly tested & validated. More than half of the bottom tab bar options are either useless to me or rarely used yet they occupy some of the most important parts of the screen. My Toyota vehicle is well built and easy to use. But this app is almost the opposite of that.
Almost useless. This app is a mess. The sign in permissions are wack and all over the place. It wont let you keep it open in the back ground and still function. Sometimes it decides you need to resign in with passwords rather than your set Face ID. It’s really all over the place. Just use Face ID it’s not like you can steal the car with it. Face ID is secure enough for my whole wallet. Not to mention it’s slow. Any action is a press to hold. The majority or the information is quite useless. If you pay $8 a month you can lock and unlock your car and remote start it. But it honestly takes longer to pull your phone out figure out the sign in and then press and hold the button for 5 seconds than it does to just use the darn keys. 8$ to get anything some what useful land you can’t pay for that though Apple so pull out a card and enter it manually in the app. It’s pretty much junk Toyota.
PHEV charging report data are very wrong… plus…. I just started using this app with a 2022 RAV4 Prime XSE and am underwhelmed with the user experience for the battery charging history/scheduling/etc. Most disappointing is that the charge history info that is reported is just bad (erroneous) info. It reports incorrect start and end charge state percentages and many entries have bad time stamps. Some charge events seem missing and others are sortof duplicated. These may be due to bad handling of time stamp data in the software…. Point is, this is inexcusably buggy. Why would I be happy paying $8/month for the Remote Connect subscription service, just to be able to monitor bad info in a clunky interface? That said, the other features of the app seem to work ok (door locks, etc). So much of the app just leaves me feeling Toyota’s heart really isn’t into making this a great app at this time.
Good app. UI experience is good and able to navigate easy and has clear information. Having the OS notifications on every remote connect feature is annoying. Like instead you can simply show a snack bar. OS notifications are for when we are not using the app. Everytime I unlock, I had to swipe the notification to use the rest of the app freely. Also, remote connect is the primary feature all the users gonna play with. To make it easier to use, rather than placing the button on a bottom sheet, instead you can place the buttons on the home page, this will avoid extra effort to open and close the modal sheet everytime. Modal sheet is not super responsive either.
Great app, but still don't have all the features?. I recently purchased a 2024 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid Limited and love the car as well as the app, but my remote connect panel has still not fully updated. As of right now I only have the option to start/stop the car and lock/unlock it as well as turn on the hazards. All of the other features are not available. I have had the car and the app for over a month now and still no climate, lights, etc options are shown or been added to that section. I have been assured by the dealership that my car is up to date and I have the subscription to remote connect so still confused why I haven't gotten that feature yet? Can i get some help?
Horrible service-Zero stars. This app is useless. When I purchased my car I was not told I’d need to pay a fee to keep the connected services like remote start. When the “trial” apparently ran out, I had no service. After paying for service and downloading app, the services would not reconnect. After multiple correspondence with remote connect, I was told to go to the dealer. Dealership charged me almost $200 just to make it “work”, and not all of the services work, none work from the app. The only one that works from my fob is remote start. Fast forward-My service was disconnected due to “lack of payment “ when valid payment was on file. Now I’m potentially having to pay for unnecessary dealership “service” again. This is such a scam. The app doesn’t function correctly, constantly is requiring I reset my password, and hardly has any detail: like payment history. I’m very disappointed in Toyota.
Backwards sensing and inaccurate information. I had a low tire pressure in one of my tires and decided to look at the app to see which one it was. The app told me it was the front drivers side but when I would try to put air in my tire the machine would keep telling me it was full. I finally checked the passenger side and noticed it looked a little deflated and realized the app sensor is completely backwards. I filled up the passenger tire and the light went off in my car but the app is still telling me it is low even after I cleared it off my screen and restarted the app. Before figuring out the issue with the app, I was starting to think I needed to pay a dealership money to replace my sensor when it was just a free app giving inaccurate information. Please fix this issue.
Terrible app and Terrible Service. Be prepared and expect to: -Pay for a service that was once free (remote car start) -Have the app not work and/or an “outage” and not be able to use the service that you now pay on a monthly or yearly subscription. -call customer service, be transferred numerous times, and hours of your precious time trying to get answers -Be told that there are no plans for prorating or discounting the service you pay for that you aren’t receiving. -Be prepared to write a review and receive a generic reply message that I have received and will receive below this message stating the obvious. -Expect them to undermine your intelligence by thinking the generic reply messages and trained talks the customer service rep goes through will make you feel like they are taking care if the situation and here to help you. But at its core, we know they are now charging money for something they know will have issues, will not work, have no plans to give even penny back to the customer. -Stay vigilant my friends. Toyota has turned into a company that is leveraging technology to give you the illusion you are receiving more, but in the long run you receive less and pay dearly for it. Not just from an app side, but also a car tech in general.
Doesn’t work and can’t uninstall. I wish I had come to read these reviews sooner. I’m having the same problem with the update, where I would tap on the “app suite” section in the app and nothing would happen. No connect button shows up, no way I get app to connect to the car so that I could stream music using the app suite. I thought maybe an uninstall/reinstall would help (I would have known better if I had read the reviews on the recent update), so I tried to uninstall. Now my phone is stuck in this Toyota app purgatory. The app pretends to uninstall, but when I reboot the phone, there it is, sort of. It’s not listed in the installed apps in settings, yet when I go to the App Store, it just has an “open” button, as if the app is already on my phone. I can’t open it, I can’t delete it. It is beyond useless. I’m can only hope that if/when an update happens, it will fix this disaster of an app.
Recent update=decline in functionality. This app was getting by to begin with. The recent update has made it worse. It has now become slower with hit or miss functionality. It also bugs me that I keep getting a notification to buy Toyota genuine parts. It’s a new Toyota, why would I be needing parts? Why clutter the app with such “offers” ? Also, the status of the car is often not updated And even though I may have received a push notification with recent status, the app displays status from a while ago. It’s annoying to see that my car is unlocked, lock it with the app, receive a notification saying the car is already locked, then see the previous notification saying the car is locked. The app also doesn’t close by itself and runs in the background with the blue outline around the time in the top left corner of the screen. What is this app doing to warrant running in the background like this? Is it actively navigating? Is there a call in progress? One thing the app is NOT doing is updating the status of the car. I always have to manually shut down the app which is annoying. This could just be a functional and easy to use app of Toyota could get rid of the clutter.
Toyota app does NOT connect to services. When Toyota replaced Entune with Toyota app, they forgot to include the entune features. I sent email explaining this, they replied with replace entune with Toyota, scroll down and hit “connect” but there is no option. Any ideas on how to get my streaming apps to work? Edit: The app is now updated to include limited access, but stocks, sports, and others are not there. Also, it originally was automatically connected, the you had to open the phone app every time you got in the car. NOW you have to launch the app on your phone , click on a link, then click “connect” in order for the limited services (Live x Live, iHeart, Alexa, and destination search) to function. EXTREMELY disappointed. Seriously considering not making another Toyota purchase UPDATE: developer responses in App Store say to leave feedback in the App, but that doesn’t work either. When will you provide the services that we’re part of the vehicle I purchased? Update: Toyota has discontinued this app, it does not work. Nor do the many features that were present with Entune. Toyota website DOES say to use this app. This will be my last Toyota. UPDATE: Toyota has remove virtually all of the apps that was available when I bought the car. DEFINITELY my last Toyota
The app simply does not work. I am unable to reconcile how a company that makes such good vehicles can have such a poorly executed application. I am not sure how the QA their releases, but the outcomes are deplorable. The app cannot connect to the vehicle, so the functions of the application are dead in the water. This should be simple, there are plenty of auto manufactures that have figured this out, so I am just baffled. Toyota’s quality is typically unprecedented. Yet here we are with this app. The manufacturing principals that have made Toyota what they are today are obviously not being followed by this division of the company. Or, this has been outsourced to a third party. If it is the latter, Toyota should cut bait and take this development effort on themselves. If this is a Toyota development effort, then there needs to be some personnel changes to meet the quality standards that has made this company great.
Doesn’t Show Total Miles Anymore. Updated app no longer displays total miles on the odometer and this is just when I needed it. 2021 Sequoia is temporarily stored out of town and I’m trying to figure out if I need factory maintenance on it before a big trip. I can’t find this info that was previously displayed prominently. Please put total miles back into the app. I see trip A and B odometers, but not the total miles that I need. Otherwise, I like the app. Some complaints that I read about here are actually by design, such as engine cutoff after remote start when a door is opened. It’s obviously for security reasons. Keep up the good work and keep improving the app.
Failures of the cell phone to send music to the Prius. Last week when I was driving my 2018 Prius I tried to tune in a radio station via this application. The volume was so low on the music that I had to turn up the car to Maxximum, and all I could hear was a whisper of the music. I remove the app, and then had a very difficult to Time, trying to find out that the app is not called EntuneWhen you search for it. They download in some improvements two weeks ago which of course stopped it from working. Just like the navigation on this 2018 Prius, the software isn’t worth the bits it’s written in. My salesman told me when I bought this car that I could upgrade the radio so I could get my Apple phones software to correctly with Apple CarPlay. He neglected to mention it would be $2000. Next time I’ll get it all in writing.
Garbage App. I used to use Entune to connect my 2015 Highlander to iHeartRadio. Unfortunately, Entune was replaced by this bloated garbage. This App has tons of features that I couldn’t care less about. The only thing I need is to connect to iHeartRadio and that doesn’t work. Almost 1GB of storage for this bloated mess… Toyota should be ashamed. Changed review to 4/5: I uninstalled the app several months ago because it stopped connecting to my car Entune system. I recently purchased an Apple iPhone 13 so I decided to give the app another try. It seems to be working now and I am able to listen to iHeartRadio in my 2015 Highlander. Took off a star because the App is bloated and has many features that are useless.
IPad app does not display properly. Latest update to app causes an over enlarged image on iPad Pro. Prior versions scaled to fit larger screen on iPad just fine. Obviously not tested on large iPad screens. It was working fine until this latest update on 4/1/22. iPhone version no longer displays odometer reading. This feature worked in prior versions. 5/4/22 update. App updated today. Image on iPad Pro still does not scale properly making information at the top unreadable. Properly displays the following items: odometer, distance to empty, lock/unlock buttons, start button, vehicle status, health & alerts, service appointments, last known location shown on a map. If you could just fix the display issues on the iPad Pro next.
Annoying Quirks. The app is decent but significantly underwhelming. Two big complaints: 1) why do users have to allow the app to connect to the car literally every time the vehicle starts? The car should be a trusted device and the app and car should auto sync starting from the first day it’s connected. We should not have to reauthorize the app each time. If you don’t connect fast enough, you have to turn the car off and on again to establish the ability to connect. This seems like a huge oversight and should be fixed immediately. 2) I get notified if my windows are left down, but the app should the ability to remotely put the windows up or down. Other than that the basic info accessibility is nice and the ability to remote start is great.
C’mon, Toyota…. What a terrible, terrible app. Let’s start with the basics: to do anything, you’re paying $8 a month. Start your car? $8. See your car on a map? $8. Lock/unlock your doors? $8. Aaaaaand now we’ve reached the end of what this app can do. Literally useless. Did you forget to turn your AC on during the morning commute, remote start your car from the office expecting it to cool down, and then realize that you can’t actually adjust climate from the app? Ask me how I know. Did you tap the start button from your door (a 3 minute walk away) only to be at your car before the app actually manages to send a command? Ask me how I know. Did you open the app, have to acknowledge the “technical issue” with monitoring tire pressure from the app for 10,000th time, then wait 2 minutes for it to load your car details so you can actually do something? Ask me how I know. Did you notice your phone running so hot you thought it would catch fire, then notice the blue location-request icon in the corner and see the Toyota app running in the background 45 minutes after you left the car and walked away? Ask me how I know. This app is a piece of garbage. Ball it up, light it on fire, back over it with your RAV4 terrible. I really hope Toyota improves it, but I don’t have high hopes.
THE APP IS POINTLESS. I locked my keys in the car and have been trying to navigate this app. the process should be simply yet I’ve been trying to get in my car for the last 2 hours. It’s freezing cold!! The app doesn’t even give me the option to unlock my car….i then found by using the 3D feature you can try to unlock but i paid for a subscription to be told that I am not subscribed and I’m assuming that’s why I can’t access the unlock car feature. Shouldn’t have customers paying out of pocket for something that DOESNT WORK. I am enraged and more than likely have to waste money hiring a lock smith…Do better Toyota I am not impressed. It’s no one’s fault that I locked my keys in the car but the process shouldn’t feel so impossible to the point that your customers are defeated with no solution to their issues. Very disappointing. Feeling very much inconvenienced this morning.
Work in Progress. I generally like this app, but I don’t really use it that much. It’s handy for reminding me to lock my car when I’ve left it unlocked, then allowing me to remotely lock it. Scheduling maintenance is easy with it. Remotely starting the vehicle is handy, especially when it’s very cold outside. However, I’m paying a fee to do some of these things, and when I went to use the app to remotely start my vehicle this morning, the app wasted about a minute of my time serving me up an advertisement for renting Toyotas! Normally when you pay a fee for apps, it is so you do not receive advertisements. After all, what is email for? If you want to turn me off to paying for convenience, keep feeding me unwanted ads.
Too many errors. It doesn’t start the car 80% of the time. It takes too long to start the car when it does thank goodness I’ve only got a trial to try it out because I definitely will not be subscribing to that, don’t really need it. I just liked to play with it but got too frustrated. I can go out, start the car and come back in the house in a fraction of the time, but that’s not the point of having remote start is it? It couldn’t read the Vin number. I had to manually add it, and then it wiped everything out a couple days later, and had to add it again manually. It gives errors when trying to open it tells me that it’s taking a while and it will be opening shortly. Who’s got time for this? Thank goodness the car is more reliable than the app. Which definitely needs lots of work….
Maguire Toyota. I have a BEST experience and thoroughly honest review of my automobile purchase at this dealership. From my first phone call to the delivery of my new vehicle it was the best dealership experience that I have had in years. My sales person was Carly and she was dead spot on being on point from our first encounter and through the delivery of the vehicle. She showed me every operation within the vehicle before I drove off. And then told me to call her with any questions and anytime. I recommend her for salesperson of the year at the dealership. Also recommend you ask for Carly as your salesperson as you will not be dissatisfied.
Terrible app! And will cause trouble w Payments!. So I’ve had a Toyota vehicle for about 4 years now and I’ve used to app to pay for my vehicles. As of recent I set up reoccurring payments so I don’t have to remind myself every month. A full month goes by and I see my payment has DOUBLED!! I received an email that my payment was posted and don’t have to worry from there on and then I get a bunch of calls asking why I missed my payment. I received ONE follow up email saying I missed my payment 3 weeks after I submitted a payment and same with this month! They could have sent me an email the MOMENT it didn’t go through but no, 3 WEEKS LATER!!! They say they’ve reached out but I’ve asked to change that phone number every time I’ve had my car serviced. Literally the worst app out there. I love Toyota but will probably be trading my vehicle in for a Honda for sure after this altercation. Honda has a cleaner And not as buggy app
Useless keeps logging me out every day. I for one had great expectations for this app and this company since I love my car, but when I have to be subscribed to pay $15 for remote start and all its functionality, this is frustrating because I literally have to go out of my way to login manually when the app can’t simply just remember my settings when remember box has been checked. I have a BMW as well and this never happens on the BMW app if Toyota is going to charge for subscription, they should at least get their application fixed so that functionality. I hope developer see this message and realize they need to get their software corrected if they’re going to continue to charge clients subscription fee. 8/15 still no updates from Toyota to address this matter it’s sad that they cannot update this. The review ratings truly speak for themselves.
No longer functions properly. Since the app update that you did four months ago, I can no longer find out any information about my car. I used to be able to see the tire pressure of all of my tires and that is no longer available. I talked to the dealership about it and they have no answers and they don’t understand why it doesn’t work. I also have a button for remote, but even when I had the subscription to remote services was not able to use it to start my car as I was told by my salesman. That of course is not exactly the fault of the app but salesman that don’t know what they’re talking about. overall, I feel that in today’s day and age, there should be far more features that are accessible and actually function on a car that is as new as it is.
It doesn’t work!!!. Bought a new Tundra a month ago and the app has been in “pending remote activation status” since day one. The app says it “may take up to 24 hours to activate”. It’s been 24 DAYS and it still doesn’t work. Went back to the dealer and my salesman worked with someone through the SOS button in the truck for nearly 30 minutes. They couldn't get it to activate and ended up giving me a 1-800 number to call. I called that number (which is only active Mon-Fri during the day) and the person that answered transferred me back to the dealer again. Thus is my first Toyota vehicle and based on this experience it will be my last. I find it amazing that the app doesn’t work during the “free trial” period and Toyota actually thinks a person would PAY for something that doesn’t work. Maybe Toyota should check with Ford. We also have a Ford vehicle and their app works perfectly!!!!!
Toyota. It it very apparent to me that 99% of these companies really don't care what we think they only use us to increase their bottom line and that's profits, I am so disappointed with Toyota at this point that I've made the decision to stop buying Toyota vehicles. TRD Big break kit is a product that is free designed for Toyota Tundra’s in particular well for some reason Toyota decided that it was important to inform owners of this kit that they were t manufacturing break pads for the TRD kit anymore which means I haven't been able to drive my truck for literally 5 months now because I don't have brakes now I have to save up money or sell my truck because this issue but the sad part is Toyota just won't come out and say hey we don't make the brake pad for the trd big break kit anymore instead they just string us along as if they care which they don't!
Good intentions, poor delivery. I love everything about my Camry. It pains me to see how drastic of a quality difference there is between Toyota’s cars and their mobile technology (and this is coming from someone who works in the field). The mobile app is great when it works, the unfortunate reality is that it never works. Usually takes 4-5 attempts for the auto start to actually connect and work, and at that point I’ve invested 5-10 minutes in attempting to start my car. The loading logic is very slow, every attempt can take anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute. Very cumbersome when you have to do 4-5 attempts to get a successful response. On top of that, this is a paid feature. While I don’t mind paying $8 a month for the convenience, it’s very frustrating to pay this and arguably have the app never work.
New App not so great. Smooth operation. But it doesn’t allow you to switch between your cars anymore. Once you select your vehicle it can’t return to the previous screen unless you force close it. The reason I turned away from buying a Tesla was because of this app being able to control all my cars from a single app. I’m considering changing cars If nothing is done. Leave the old app as is or improve and add value to the new one not take the food away from the table and expect clients to keep paying for service features taken away. Toyota you can do better please let’s do something about it
POSITIVELY THE WORSE APP on the App Store!. I bought my 2019 Camry XLE after seeing my buddy’s app for his RAV4. This was version 1.X and it worked flawlessly. It was easy to check everything. Then the geniuses at Toyota (I can’t call them developers because they are so inept) came out with Version 2 - nothing worked right. It obviously was never field tested. And from the continued poor reviews, nothing has gotten any better. I had just renewed my contract with Toyota. After seeing the comments and seeing the broken app, I requested, and got, my money refunded. I never looked back. Rather than complain about something that high school students could do far better, I just walked away. No amount of criticism over 3 years of poor reviews by others has caused any change to the app. The toll-free number is a joke. The people behind the app should have been fired over 3 years ago - but they are still there wrecking havoc with their ineptitude. After my refund, I felt much better and have never looked back. So what prompted me to write this? Astonishingly, Toyota still sends me notes to rejoin that decrepit app. If money talks, everyone should request a refund. Posting here does absolutely nothing. Save the wear and tear on your fingers.
Same feedback as my Lexus. First I’m not going to pay $8 per month or $80 per year to remote start my car. I MIGHT consider it if the remote start was actually functional. When I start my car in cold/hot weather: 1. the remote start only stays on for 10 mins - not enough time to heat or cool the vehicle. 2. Only works when vehicle is locked (ok fine) but if I unlock the vehicle the remote start stops even if I’m not opening any doors - why?? 3. Remote start stops as soon as I open the door - why!? Let’s say I have kids and I have a **** load of crap I have to haul around and I want to remote start my car so my kids don’t freeze (that’s the only reason I would buy a cross-over in the first place. If I didn't have kids there is no way in **** that I would buy a cross-over). Im not ready to get my kids in the car yet, I’m simply opening the doors so I can load my kids, wife’s and dogs uncles boss’ junk in the car so I can be in my merry way - but wait if I open the car my remote start turns off! WHY!? Same question I asked Lexus - WHY??? I suppose it’s to save the environment from emissions - but sorry that excuse doesn’t fly with me. If you want to save the environment, then don’t offer a worthless remote start and stop building cars…
Quirky and things just don’t work. As much as I wanted to have this work since I have owned my grand highlander platinum since December 2023, it just consistently fails to preform. First I still don’t have key number two so the ability to have a digital key. Well six months later it (digital key) won’t download. This is so important. My wife just bought a Lexus and it downloaded first time. Hum. Must not be me. Second I can’t tell you how many times I have either had to hook up a hard wire connection or pull over and shut the car off and restart to get the connection. This has been going on for six months and one update of the app with not having the app improve. Very disappointing. Come on Toyota. If Lexus can get theirs to work, aren’t you people as smart. Doesn’t seem like it. So sorry a big company pays so much attention to reliable vehicles and can’t get an app to seemlessly work.
Obsolete app. My previous vehicle was a 2021 Ford EcoSport with Sync 3. I absolutely regret buying a Toyota because it’s technologically obsolete, or at the very least severely outdated. The only reason I went with a RAV4 was because of the cargo space & it was a bigger vehicle than my Toyota. I should have gone with an Ford Escape or Bronco. The primary reason for my one star is due to the app have zero functionality. I can’t remote start, lock, or unlock the vehicle with the Toyota app (I could with the Ford Sync app). I can’t unlock/lock my car with out the fob (unlike my Ford). I can’t remote start my RAV4. I can’t monitor my oil life, gas level, or tire pressure. My Ford Sync would log when it was driven & let me know how well the person was doing (speeding, breaking hard, accelerating too fast, etc). It would track my maintenance records & give me a schedule of when I needed to perform specific things. I could see what warranties & extended packages I have. I could even track my car’s location. All of this, not available on the Toyota app. I also can’t download any apps to the car & when I click on the map button on my radio (on the car) it says none available & to download one via the Toyota site but there’s nothing to download. The app is pretty pointless.
Horrible. I received an update at the end of February 2024 and the app had this slide bar to expand me view which keeps sliding preventing my car from staying! I have to slide it back and then press the start button while operating it doesn’t move. The second issue is ever since the app updated audio won’t play in my car. It would start and then stop. If I hit play it would skip to the next track. If I turned the radio off it would play for 20 seconds and repeat. When I removed the app the radio worked without issue. If I plugged my phone into the car no audio could be heard. The audio player would stop and not resume. What did Toyota break with this update? This odd not worth the $10 a month they’re charging!
Helpful but needs improvement. I like utilizing the app in an automation to lock my doors after my phone disconnects from the car, but outside of that I find the app pretty irritating. For “security reasons” I periodically can’t log in using Face ID and need to use my password. Last I checked Face ID was more secure than a password, but ok. I’m also signed out seemingly randomly, making the inability to use Face ID consistently even more annoying. Inside the app, I find it unsettling that the subscriptions that I’m enrolled in don’t have a cost listed with them, yet when they expire I’m on the hook if I want to continue to use the app. I Googled the different subscription costs and it took some digging to even find it online. It’s like Toyota wants to catch buyers off guard in the hopes that they will stay with the app after free trials. It’s a poor user experience for sure. In the information section about my vehicle, there is a screen to look up Dashboard Lights. That would be very handy except it says “no data found”. Lame. I’m hoping when it comes time to renew its like 99 cents because honestly it’s not worth much more given the hassles it causes.
Watch app does not function. This has been an on and off again problem - the phone app generally works fine - I get notifications when I forget to lock my doors and I can remote start for climate control when it is hot or cold. I can see where the car was last parked. And I can see my driving patterns, if too harsh with stops, turns, and starts. The watch app is functionally useless. It constantly asks me to log in to my phone to do anything. Once I open my phone app, the watch app will work. But I don’t need the watch app if I have to open my phone to activate it. I’m already in the phone. One update a year or so ago fixed it ever so briefly. If I am logged into my watch, I should automatically be logged into the app. Or allow me to log in on my watch, which is a much worse option.
Image of car is backwards. The app finally appeared to be working properly. I loved the status bar for the remote start. It was looking up. Then I get in my car to find I have low tire pressure somewhere. I check my app, and find the pressure is dangerously low, allegedly, for my front driver’s side tire. For it to be as low as it was it could only mean I had a leak. I check it and can’t find any tears or nails. It’s night, so I check again in the morning and still can’t find anything. No clue what to do, I decide I’ll just go fill my tire and hope for the best. Before I did, though, I checked all my tires just to make sure I wasn’t missing something and find a nail in the rear passenger tire. That’s where the leak was. I’m so frustrated with this app! One thing is fixed for another thing to be messed up. And to be sure, the picture shows the tire near the mirror is the one with the issue, but that’s not the one actually messed up.
Toyota App. Upon receiving my new 2023 Toyota Corolla XLE I am happy to say that I was pretty surprised to see this app rated so low. Feedback with constructive criticism is encouraged but we must keep in mind that Rome wasn’t built in a day. I for one, am grateful that Toyota is still prioritizing the quality of their vehicles instead of the app. I am eager to see how the app evolves as time goes on, but Rome wasn’t built in a day. Marketing is essential and cannot be avoided but I agree with a past comment that suggests placement not being in the way and how they chose to offer real solutions rather than simply criticize or just submit a low star rating. Thank you Toyota!
Does Toyota even read the feedback?. The more time goes on the worse this app has become. I’ve seen others express their frustration and problems such as making you sign in every day or other day to the app. When I try and summons the iPhone to start my car it lags and says there’s a problem. It needs to sign in. I just did that yesterday!!! Why does it always sign out?! The keep me signed in option is a a waste of time. Wanna start up your car? It will say, sorry this operation cannot be performed right now. 5 seconds later my car starts? Total waste of money for the subscription. If this app was as reliable as Toyota, this app would have 5 starts. I bet the so called developers don’t even drive a Toyota or use this app. Who’s doing the R&D for this? Boy am I glad I’m able to see offers and deals for service or refinance my car. Junk of an app.
Awful!. Really pleased with my recent purchase and was looking forward to my Toyota experience. To my dismay, my attempt to add my husband as a second driver and have the same functionality on the the Toyota app as I do, is impossible. Toyota evidently has not devoted the same time, effort, and money on their software technology as they have on their vehicles. We have spent countless hours scouring the internet to find videos and helpful comments from Toyota owners and employees. We received no reply from our salesperson when we reached out for help. We can connect my husband’s phone, but this and other services like music preferences, are nice , but not enough. Moreover, I see my frustrations echoed repeatedly on the internet and reflected in the poor rating of the Toyota app. My son and daughter are both considering purchasing a Toyota vehicle for the next vehicle and I will warn them that the Toyota app will ruin their overall customer experience.
Auto leader loses in app. My hope is that Toyota puts all their money in building a long-lasting vehicle because they certainly don’t put it towards app development. The app “tour” is poorly done and extremely limited. Thankfully, you can go back through the very limited info an infinite number of times so your frustration can increase exponentially. Issues - the find my car function is limited. The icon used to locate the user relocated the map to just north of Dallas, Texas. I’m not close to Dallas or Texas. If you want to see if your car has moved, close out of the app. It’s like calling your IT support - “Refresh? No. Have you tried rebooting?” Ugh! The find my car page appears to be one that you can make larger by lowering the dealer locations, etc., but you can’t. Why is the app focused so much on my need to locate a dealer? Or a Toyota rental? Can I see a full screen map, please (and not Dallas, TX)? When a leader in the auto industry has a score of 2.1 for an app bearing its logo, there has to be a good explaiantion for the poor score. I would guess that developers don’t use their own app, Toyota doesn’t provide them with a sufficient budget, and/or they don’t check here for feedback.
Worthless. No apple employees must own a Toyota..Apple play car play does NOT work. Evidently no Apple employees have a Toyota OR no Toyota employees have an Apple iPhone. Because nothing works!!! Phone won’t ring it ding for calls or texts if phone is connected to charging cable. Maps won’t display from phone to Toyota monitor. Spent $40k on a new Toyota and have to not a subscription for app?? Really?? WTH!!!!!! No remote start. Tire pressures on car don’t match display on phone. Total JUNK!! Spent $40k on a RAV4 and salesman lied that it had a phone app that functions and does anything!! Toyota stop DEI hiring and hire capable qualified people to do your programming and to WORK in your call centers!! Such crap!! But stuck for a year or two until can afford a new vehicle after the depreciation of driving off the lot and sell this worthless Toyota. Beware!! Make the Salesguy DEMONSTRATE LIVE ON THE CAR YOU ARE CONSIDERING BUYING.
Toyota App not at all what it says it is.. Very disappointed with how Toyota manages its digital services. I have the Entune app which now does not work but says the Toyota app does everything Entune did “and more” which is a joke. The Toyota app basically does nothing useful except tells you stuff you already know. The Maps on the car is basically useless unless you hook your phone up using a cable so with google maps already on your phone the maps feature on the car is really just a cumbersome thing. The car itself says no maps app is currently installed if you press the maps button but there is no useful information anywhere online or in the manual explaining how to use Maps or where and how to download a usable app to the car. I love Toyota vehicles but they really need to get in the game on these features that everyone expects to work seamlessly.
SOoo FRUSTRATED by this app!. TODAY- the app decided to lose ALL my information on my vehicles and myself! I can’t get back into it, it says there’s a server error! It is -20* outside AND I CAN NOT REMOTE START MY VEHICLE! 🤬 Why have this if it doesn’t work? Why doesn’t Toyota put the remote start ON THE KEY FOB?! Then there’s no relying on satellites and updating computer software and servers! OMY TOYOTA!! Plus, can you please explain to me why my husband can’t be on the SAME app so when HE drives the VEHICLE HE can remote start it from his phone? It only allows for ONE person at a time!!! I bought this vehicle! It’s mine and if I want my husband AND myself to be able to remote start OUR vehicle then we should be able to!!! If I add him to the app as a guest then it kicks me off and I have to go through the ENTIRE process of linking my VIN to the app ALL OVER AGAIN!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 Utterly RIDICULOUS!!!! This is by far my most favorite vehicle I’ve owned in my entire life- but this app IS STUPID!!!!!
