I have never been so happy to buy a game twice.. Balatro is a game built around your typical 52 card deck, building poker hands to score points according to their rarity and the cards used. Simple as it may seem, LocalThunk has built a system with so much internal depth, so much strategy sewn between the random cards, so much self expression in how someone can tackle the challenges the game offers. I've already put in 150+ hours on PC and couldn't be more excited to do it all again.

Balatro is the bomb!. second run with green deck i found an early joker- ceremonial dagger. it provided the scale to get past ante 5ish, and at the very end i pulled a black hole out of a spectral card. bought every planet card i saw, most up to rank 3-4. start of ante 8 i decided to skip both blinds and go straight to the boss, hadn’t skipped yet but i thought my build was ready. flush of hearts for my final hand squeaked me over the finish line for the first win. been on slay the spire since 2018 and hearthstone before that. last year i played inscryption on PS5 because it free on PS5. got the platinum that same weekend and picked it up on steam because it was so good i couldn’t sit right playing it for free. only heard about balatro recently during the buzz from the ios release, decided to pick it up this morning. took me 3ish hours for this win, thank you developers for making such a well polished release. and now i’m going to see what the meta is and beat some more decks! seed: 1KBWYNHN

Disappointed with paid version. Recently played this on Apple Arcade and loved it, but recognized that it’s a somewhat restricted version. So I bought the game thinking options and challenges would open up well only a few things did such as jokers etc. But things like the very first challenge which says and I quote “Win a run with at least 5 different decks to unlock Challenge mode 0/5” even when you do this it never opens. It shows an option for difficulty to start your run but the arrows are blacked out. I assumed there might be several levels of difficulty starting easier and moving up which would be great for those of us just learning the game and strategy. Am finding that some of the uncommon jokers you buy don’t do what they are supposed to. Also it’s supposed to sync between iPad and phone it doesn’t. While this has the potential to be an outstanding game and 9.99 is not expensive I should have just stuck with the Apple Arcade + version. It’s getting frustrating never being able to advance past the early rounds.

Poker rouge like is amazing. Constantly evaluating opportunity cost. Playing poker but never losing money. You don’t even have to know poker to play. An incredible and dynamic theme song. Lots of risk vs. reward. I’ve sunk 100s of hours in this game both on PC and Switch. Sometimes it can be RNG dependent, but resets are fast. Higher stakes offer quite a challenge. The UI is very fluid and has a satisfying feel to it. In short this quickly became one of my favorite games ever. It loses its charm after enough time but rest assured there’s a lot of game here. If you’re a fan of deck builders, card games or roguelikes you are looking at one of the best in the genre. *also, made by one person! S/O Localthunk

Timekiller. So far it’s been exceptionally fun. I never bought it on PC since all the praise I’ve heard about it kept saying how they wanted out on their phone to kill time anywhere, and that’s why I bought it here. I can already tell it’s going to be a fantastic little timekiller. I appreciate also that it’s showing signs of staying updated and fixed. I had that bug of the game freezing when notifications interrupt, and was going to report it, only to find this morning that it was already patched. Very nice.

The Progress Loss is Ruining It. I love Balatro, I have a ton of hours on PC and now mobile. But I have lost progress multiple times on mobile for what seems to be no reason? Clearing gold chip and going to main menu just to have it say it isn’t cleared. It showing an unlock happen on the main menu and then it still being locked. Just today I beat a challenge and started a new one, cleared the new one and went to main menu just for it to remove the previous completion and not count the one I just finished. It’s getting really frustrating to inch out a win just to have it say “nah, sorry pal, do it again.” Please fix this issue.

The Amazing Poker Rougelite Is Now on Mobile. I don’t normally review mobile games but Balatro will be the exception. If you are unfamiliar with the game it’s basically Poker and you win by beating what the game calls Blinds. You start by playing Poker but then you get to the shop and this is where the fun begins you can buy Jokers which change how you play the game. Wanna build a deck built around Flushes you can do that, wanna build one around playing straights using only four cards you can do that, wanna play Five of A Kind in Balatro you can do that. This game is worth every single penny and you will lose a lot of time it’s that good and no run is the same. ALSO THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO MICROTRANSACTOONS OR ADS. Buy it you will not regret it. Also never forget the mantra ALWAYS BET ON BANANA!!!!

Mac OS. This would get 5 stars IF they would add Mac Support to the paid version of the game. The Apple Arcade version HAS support for Mac and there even is Mac support for the steam version and yet we still do not have Mac support on the PAID version. Even if you won’t add Mac support make the IPad version work on Mac through compatibility but i would call that lazy and crappy on your part to have the version but not allow it. While i LOVE this game and have many hours on it through steam i still highly recommend it but with no explanation on why Mac is missing from this version but is on the Apple Arcade version all I can say is that is lazy and crappy of them. Great game horrible port if you want to BUY the game. Please Mac support is all that is needed

It is literally the same with a small twist. For those familiar with the desktop game, it’s the exact same. But being on mobile, of course there’s a few “touch” tweaks, such as moving packs and cards to purchase instead of a buy button, but the twist I honestly didn’t know I needed was the haptics. This game is so fun anyway but the haptics are fantastic and just makes scoring more fun as your hand vibrates more lol. Love this game, highly recommend. Now to actually learn poker hands efficiently…

Fantastic game — but needs a save function?. I fell in love with Balatro on The Switch, so much so that I preordered this for my phone as soon as I found out it was coming. And it’s been mostly great—that same juicy gameplay that makes it irresistible to pick up and so hard to put down. However, there are times when I do have to put it down and that’s really my only problem with the game. The Switch is designed to be closed mid-game, so every game can be put down with no thought. But I accidentally swiped Balatro closed last night and lost my game, and today a coworker called me and answering the call apparently lost me my game as well? Roguelikes are about progression, and that progression is the addictive chewy center of Balatro—how will the choices I make now save me or screw me next hand, five hands, five antes, from now. So, please, crazily talented dev (and conversion team), please implement an insta-save between rounds so we never lose more than a hand’s worth of progress! I’ll happily up this to a five star review when you do.

Disappointed with iPhone Mirroring Lock – Needs Better. I love Balatro and enjoy playing it on my mobile, but I was disappointed to find out that the iPhone mirroring feature on Mac doesn't work with this game. While other apps and games mirror just fine, Balatro appears to have this feature locked. It seems like this is done to encourage users to buy the game again on Steam, which is frustrating. As an indie game fan, I’m okay with supporting the developers by buying the game again. However, restricting a useful feature like mirroring, or not having cloud sync between Steam and mobile, feels unfair. I’d appreciate it if the developers would either enable game syncing across platforms or allow the iPhone mirroring to function properly. It’s disappointing that I’m forced to pay for Apple Arcade or buy the game again on Steam when this could be avoided by simply enabling the click/input feature on iPhone mirroring.

Worth every cent.. I don’t normally write reviews and I’m not usually one to be into too many mobile games or even for that matter card games but this, there’s something about it that has an addictive and rewarding effect. I think the mix of elements of tarot and it’s design seem very fun and mysterious it’s not something that you’re too unfamiliar with, but just enough mystery to keep you wanting more. From the art, the classic pixel style art in remembrance of old Solitaire on Windows XP or Windows 98 it gives almost a nostalgic vibe as well as the music, hands-down probably the most entertaining card game that isn’t ordinary or some fake casino style solitaire style mobile game that pushes ads in your face. The pace of which the game and rounds run at as well is just perfect. Get those combos and get that reward system rewarded, you know that funny little center in your brain where you just want a little more? it hits all the right spots and it keeps you going, it’s amazing. Hands-down, 10 out of 10. Five stars, 100%.

Greatest time killer ever. I own this game on pc, I play it while waiting for my buddies to get on or while I’m matching in a online game, it’s great on there and it’s just as good on mobile. I do have ONE request, cross-progression. I don’t mind getting all the decks, cards, and achievements again… but it would be awesome to have my progress from pc on mobile aswell (if possible, either way I’m still gonna enjoy the game). (Also also, hi localthunk, without this game I’m pretty sure id still be bored out of my mind waiting for matches/or being productive)

Endlessly Entertaining. So excited that this fun, addictive card game is now available on mobile! It’s a great way to spend a 5 minute break or wait in an hours-long line. Rounds go quickly, there’s something new to discover every run, and unlocking new artifacts keeps the game fun and fresh. I learn something new every time I play, and I particularly enjoy trying new strategies to see how they turn out. It’s a family favorite!

Pleasantly surprised. I love me a good roguelike. Saw how this game was $10. Thought it was pretty steep but I gave it a shot anyway with everyone clamoring about how good it is. Not even sure why I did, to be honest. I hardly know how to play poker, and deck builders (and card games in general) don’t interest me all that much. This game defied every worry I had and presented me with a roguelike that I could not put down and left me foolishly believing I can easily win poker night if I can get my hands on a hologram joker card. 11/10. Worth every cent.

Excellent game; very obscure bug I experienced. This game is incredible, super varied, mega addictive, infinitely replayable, and ridiculously satisfying. After a ten dollar paywall to buy the game, you aren’t bombarded with ads or microtransactions. Anyone who likes poker and roguelikes should give this game a go. One very nuanced and obscure issue I experienced was that, when using the screen mirroring to play on my MacBook, I couldn’t click a single button on startup, even when the game is resetted multiple times. Not a deal breaker for me but I was hoping I’d be able to play conveniently on my Mac. I understand screen mirroring is brand new to iOS and macOS so it makes sense that it might not work at the moment. If that issue could be fixed one day I’ll be very happy with this game. Five stars!

Endlessly Replayable Rogue Lite Poker Game. Fantastic little rogue lite card game with depth. Love the PC version and waited eagerly for the mobile version. No Skinner-box features that drag you back day after day, just appealing cozy game play. Add and modify cards in your deck, acquire Jokers that modify play, and pursue different “builds” that change up your winning poker hand strategy entirely. As you play you unlock more cards introducing more depth and strategies to pursue. I can’t recommend this game strongly enough.

Hands Down, A Perfect Game. Easily one of top contenders for best rouge-light, best card game, best casual game and now best mobile game. Been waiting for this to come to mobile ever since I first saw it. This game is great for basically anyone who understands poker. One of my favorite rouge-lights ever. Thanks to the devs for it only making this game work well on mobile but getting it out so more can enjoy it. Y’all make video games better as a whole.

Lost hundreds of hours of progress. This game was objectively fun. It is a genius dopamine rush and quite unique. The developer clearly knows how to make a viral hit. However, the only real point to the game is to unlock things. I had played for hundreds of hours on my phone. I had nearly unlocked the full “collection” and completed 15/20 challenges. Then, I wanted to see how the game looked on the iPad. What a terrible decision. I’ve now lost everything, any and all progress. iOS Gamecenter happily logs me in and tells me I’ve already earned the majority of the achievements. Balatro thinks I’ve never unlocked a single thing and never won with a single deck. This is a game that centers entirely on unlocks and progress, but fails to store your data with any degree of reliability or replicability. I will never play this game again. Play at your own risk and, if you do, be sure to only ever play on one device. This review was posted after version 1.1.15 was released which erroneously claims “Cloud save improvements”. I also filed a bug report with the developer and received this response: “The developers are aware of the issue and are looking into why this is happening. Currently, there is not a way to restore individual profiles. In the meantime, I would suggest playing on one device.”

Incredibly Fun and Enjoyable! but Eats Battery. If you are into Poker or Roguelikes (Binding of Isaac for example,) you will most likely find Balatro to be a very interesting and fun. Jokers are like powerups for your deck and lead to a lot of fun interactions and interesting combos. Now with that being said, I feel the nature of how the game difficulty progresses ruins the expectation of experimentation. As to meet with the high antes you either need to set up the same powerful, but repetitive combos, or get very lucky, which leaves a very small window to mess with jokers as it becomes very quickly becomes punishing to do so. This does not ruin the game in the slightest, just my ability to explore it further. I own this game on PC as well and very much enjoy the interface changes made for mobile and I actually find myself trying to drag cards in the PC version because I’ve become accustomed to dragging them here. Highly recommend for mobile. My only gripe for mobile is for some reason, this game makes my phone very hot and eats battery very fast. Like it’s taking a LOT of processing power to play. My phone usually has a long battery life but to lose 20% or more on a single run of Balatro is kind of unfortunate. If this gets fixed, it’s an easy 5 star.

THIS GAME ROCKS. This game rocks so hard. It is literally perfect, both as a game and specifically as a mobile game. The format of being able to take super long on rounds without any timers or anything makes it perfect to play at any time basically. The only small critiques i would have are the touch interact areas can be a bit small at times (but that’s kinda on my for having a mini phone lol) and no portrait mode but both of those are just nice to have. If you are committed enough to be reading reviews, stop reading reviews and go buy the game already! Do it!

Outstanding Game! But -. I’ve played over one hundred hours of Balatro on our Switch & bought it for our iPad without hesitation. The game play is still smooth, the cards are still fun, and you can get sucked into a vortex of “Just one more run” even easier. My complaint, and the reason it’s not 5 stars: You can’t play music via Apple Music or iTunes while playing the game. The game immediately pauses whatever is playing when you open or click on it. If that is fixed, then it’s 5 stars (and I’ll be updating this review).

Best game on app store. Well if you’re like me and you’re tired of playing the same styled mobile games over and over, all of them identical in every way but their names, try Balatro. I bought it on Xbox when it first came out and loved it. Every playthrough is different & fresh, with collectible cards to unlock new combos. Imagine if the Binding Of Isaac had a poker-styled minigame, that’s what I think Balatro feels like. Don’t debate buying it, just dew it bud 🔥

I LOVE (fake) GAMBLING. took a small time to get used to the dragging instead of tapping (i had been playing on my phone with geforce now) but other than that, it is still just as addictive as balatro on other platforms. it does kinda freeze up sometimes for no reason and doesn't let you tap things but minimizing and reopening the app fixes it. also STOP GIVING ME THE SOUL AND THEN MAKING ME LOSE I HAD ONE GOOD RUN WITH TRIBOULET AND THEN I GOT SCREWED BY A BOSS BLIND other than that, very good game 10/10

Love Balatro but... I love this game on my computer I have been anticipating it on my phone and I will say it is an exact copy of it from pc so for that I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. However I dislike how small things are and I was really hoping for a portrait style version of the game. Something I can play one handed not having to tilt my phone and be super obvious I’m playing a phone game, maybe I was a little spoiled from another “joker card game” on iOS while waiting for balatro. Overall the game runs smooth but I was really hoping for a little different interface. I also hoped to be able to link my pc account so I could transfer stats and unlocks without starting completely fresh. I feel like the 3 stars is valid for what I was hoping for but I don’t want this to be a detourance for new players you will love the game I promise you! Devs please consider adding an option for portrait mode for the game to allow users to pick which they prefer in settings. I know it’s a little more work but I guarantee it will pay off in the future.

Perfect game still. Played lots on PC, bought the game again for mobile. I wish there were a couple interface adjustments for mobile. Its a little more of a drag deselecting cards in your hand since we dont have a right click… just make a button for it. Some UI elements could be made bigger as well. Minor gripes. Cross saves with my PC file would be cool too, but it’s even less of a big deal when you can just instantly unlock everything if u want.

Screen Space. I love this game so much I bought it both on PC and iPhone. The only problem I have with the iPhone version is that the screen space is not maximized/optimized. This makes the buttons difficult to use (one glaring example are tags). Hopefully over time they can make this port function better as its own app rather than simply copying and pasting from PC

Amazing, but takes getting used to as a port. This game is just amazing. I’ve been playing for nigh on three months now since I got it on my PC. I was super excited for the mobile port (though my performance in school was not quite as excited) and it’s actually really good! Since it doesn’t have crossplay abilities, I immediately turned on “unlock all” so I could have it in my pocket as a sort of quick fix. It’s been taking me a little bit of time to adjust to the new controls and I’m sure it will be hard to hop back on it on the computer, but that’s to be expected. Great game, definitely recommend turning on increased suit contrast on a smaller screen though.

Just One More Hand…. I’ve put a lot of time into Balatro’s Steam release, and have to say it’s one of the most unique and addicting experiences out there. Balatro is a rogue-like poker game, where you play poker hands to score points and beat an ever increasing point goal. The twist comes in the form of the game’s many gameplay mechanics, such as Tarot Cards, Card Modifiers, or the extremely prevalent Jokers. These Jokers modify the gameplay in various ways, such as increasing the amount of points gained by face cards, or by making it where ALL cards are considered face cards. If you’re looking for a game to play that can kill time while not requiring a lot of effort, Balatro is for you. It’s easy to learn, yet hard to master.

it’s everything I hoped it would be. Balatro was wildly popular on PC, but mobile — and especially iPad — is where it always belonged. Addictive yet somehow calming, it achieves replayability only matched by games like Slay the Spire. A compelling rogue-lite is joined by surprisingly deep mechanics and play that, though it draws inspiration from poker, is at the same time utterly removed from the specific set of probabilities that governs its play. Best of all, it is blessedly free of advertisement and microtransactions. Easily worth twice the asking price. I’ve experienced no bugs and the settings provide a surprising number of options to match the game’s behavior to your preferences. There is not a single thing about this app that made me regret my purchase in the slightest; just happy surprise after happy surprise. Please stop reading reviews and just buy it.

Masterpiece.. Before Balatro, I was just like you: Lost, confused, destitute of any fulfillment the world had to offer. The moment I installed this game was the moment that all of that would would cease to exist. This game needs to be in the louvre it’s that good. The feeling of creating a new joker deck that you never thought to be possible only to find out the synergy is perfect is better than the touch of a woman. You will struggle at first but once you understand the basics, it’s like opening a third eye. Download this game if you wanna bust with no hands

No joekor synergize with 7s!!!!. Every other rank car hads a jomkler that synergies with it but not 7?!?! The luckiest nomber on slop machines!!! Can even jonker my cavendish to this!! Then Jimbo made me throw my phone at a waitress in Denny’s after The plant devoured my mime baron run like The Little Shop of Horrors!! Now I’m being sued and I expect reparations from local think for this unbearable financial burden! How am I supposed to explain to my wife that I lost the house because my job fired me for jonkling the rocket and satellite at the office?!?! LocalThunk has ruined my life, but we gambol on. Thank you for your time, in summation, Gold Stake is too easy, give Jimbo your soul!!!

Prepare to sign your life away. This is one of those games where you go “this looks interesting, I’ll give it a shot” at 6:00 pm and then you blink and it’s 10:00 pm. Absolutely brilliant design, simple enough to get its hooks in you immediately but deep and complex enough to keep you coming back again and again. I legitimately can’t think of one negative thing to say about this game other than it will consume your free time like a swarm of locusts.

Good game, but progression is broken. I have a lot of time in this game. Just did a run with the plasma deck and hit 1.2e17 scoring on endless. I was on orange stake and finally unlocked the orange stake deck, and discarded a Royal Flush to unlock that joker. Unfortunately, when I finished, even though it showed the deck and joker unlocked, it didn't? It didn't save the progress and nothing was unlocked. It was as if the run never happened. This has happened before. I played for hours and was unlocking a lot, only to find nothing saved. I had to shut the game down and start it again in order for data to save properly. This is a basic, fundamental requirement of a game like this. It is incredibly frustrating to lose progress after a really good run, and shouldn't be possible in such a laid back game. Please fix this asap.

Great port, needs a couple quality of life fixes for touchscreens. On my second game, I was trying to reorder my jokers and didn’t realize the sell area was directly to the right of the joker area. This should be moved below the consumables area . I think I just held my finger down too long sliding a joker over and it was sold. In the store, you should be able to drag a purchased consumable into 2 different areas, 1 to store for later and 1 to use it now. So far it’s still the great fun Balatro we all love.

Accessible, addictive gameplay loop!. I’m not a big mobile gamer - never have been. But this is one of the very few games I’ve been waiting to show up on mobile since I discovered this game. Balatro has an addictive gameplay loop, strategy as intensive as you want to invest in it, and it’s easy to jump in a round without a bunch of extra frills and controls to understand. I think this is one of the most accessible mobile games out there and highly recommended to anyone who enjoys poker, strategy games, or even TCGs. High quality and loads of fun!

Incredible game but just a few tweaks so be added. if you played this game on pc then youll love it because its the same exact thing, plays great and its exactly what you want, the only thing i would add is a more customizable hud? it feels like theres a lot of unused space on my screen and it makes the game feel a little claustrophobic, being able to resize some things and move things a little will help to avoid unintended presses and accidentally moving cards to the wrong place, otherwise its awesome!

Overall good adaptation with one big hiccup. I love this game. I’ve been waiting for it to be on the iPhone since it first came out. This is overall very good adaptation. However, I have run into one major issue several times. I like other players frequently want to rearrange the order of the jokers at the top of the screen. When you hold on a joker to move it, the sell button appears to the right. Several times I have tried to drag the joker to be on the far right of the road, but instead it winds up being sold because that spot is too close to the button. That is particularly frustrating when it is a high-level multiplier for example, that I need to beat the run.

My house burned down thanks to this game. I started dinner, opened this game up, and could not put it down. I started smelling something burning, and i was going to take a look after 1 more game. That turned to several and my smoke alarm went off. I had to un outside because I couldn't see the screen anymore and i started coughing horribly. When I looked back at my house I saw everything I built up for the last 10 years go down in flames. I couldn't do anything, but play another round of this amazing game. 10/10 would have my life go up in flames again

Ported excellently, but might drain your battery. I love Balatro, really looked forward to playing it on mobile. It plays exactly like you want it too, though it takes getting used to dragging for use and sell. My one problem with it though is that it goes through my battery like crazy. Tried turning down the settings as much as possible but after two games I’d used 50% of my battery. My iPad is pretty old I guess, but it uses a lot more battery than other games I’ve played.

Addicting and satisfying. One of the best roguelikes ever… on mobile. It’s addicting, insanely fun, and has that “just one more run” factor to it that makes it one of the best games on the App Store. Got 15 mins to kill on a bus? Balatro. On the toilet? Balatro. At work and need to let off some stress? Balatro. It’s worth every penny and there really isn’t a ton of problems/bugs (at least for now). Touch controls are a bit funky at first but I’ve gotten used to them. If you’ve played Balatro on steam/switch, it’s the same ol’ game but in your pocket. If you’re new… well, welcome to your new addiction. All hail Jimbo!!!!

GOTY On The Go. It’s Balatro, on your phone. Haptics add a fun bit of flair to the game. Only two (and a half) things I would tweak; mobile needs a way to deselect all cards, and it would be nice to have some way to rotate/move the cards around to show off certain 3D jokers, and editions like polychrome. I also know it would have been a lot to tweak and implement before launch, but I would love to see a portrait mode option in the future, as much of a challenge as that might be.

Danger! Keep your family & friends. Hands down, single handily kept me on the verge of divorce/breakup. Times I’ll sneak out on a friday night to play, play, and play until those texts asking where I might be. Snoozes and ignores to get further sucked and taken into the rabbit hole of min-maxing my score until I can’t take it no more and bust….the ante is over. Download and play if you dare, but once you do remember what you’ll choose in the end, that sweet sweet blue print joker or your family. tldr; I love this game and this review is satire

Balatro on Mobile, Dream Come True!. I love Balatro on my PC, it works really well on mobile. Need to waste some time in a very satisfying and rewarding way? Play Balatro. My local casino kicked me out for learning how to county cards after playing Balatro (this is a joke Apple, there is no gambling in Balatro). The ONLY gripe I have is when you start a new game, your last chip selection gets set back to white stake. On the PC version, it’s whatever stake you last ran on. This would be a very welcome change. I always start white stake on accident and think I’m rolling until I notice I’m not on the difficulty I want to be on. Would also LOVE to see a portrait mode implemented. Probably my biggest wish for the mobile game.

Not Joking Around!. Balatro is a game about scoring bigger numbers with poker hands. It’s incredibly balanced, no single strategy feels completely broken when scoring. Even when you win the game, the hands keep coming as you collect more jokers and other cards that can extend your run. It’s absolutely worth the asking price, because you’ll want to play this game again and again. I was waiting at the airport, and I didn’t even realize that my flight got delayed and my group was already boarding. Very few games have accomplished this from my experience. Seriously, I can’t think of anything about this game I’d change. The only bad thing about it is that when you play it, you might forget that you still have work/class going on.

Good game, but some bugs. After completing a win on a deck and going to endless mode, even though it said I unlocked items afterward in the main menu, it still was locked and I also was not able to use the unlocked deck. There are other minor visual bugs but the game is the same otherwise and is very good. After the bugs get polished out, it will be perfect for mobile.

Buggy first day, but love the game. Huge fan of Balatro, my girlfriend and I have played countless hours of the switch and PC versions. When we heard there was a mobile version we both got so excited! Love the fact that it’s out, and I trust the game will be more stable with future patches, but right now I am unable to complete the tutorial without Jimbo freezing the game when he talks. I have a newish phone, and I’ve turned the graphics and text speed to be as low as possible, but the game still crashes when I reach the first shop.

Best game on iOS. If you’re on the fence about spending 10 dollars, just buy it. While yes, it’s on mobile, it’s not a mobile game. The game is a very well made port of the PC version with no features hidden behind the hardware barrier. It’s 10 dollars and you get no ads and there are no micro transactions. The gameplay is the perfect mix of luck and skill. You can win 99% of games on the hardest difficulty if you’re skilled enough, but without skill, you have luck to guide you through tough situations (or alternatively, completely leave you hopeless with no chance of winning). Regardless of gameplay or playability, the game itself is overwhelming positive on steam. The difference is that PC players have much stricter ratings than mobile players. The fact this game has 5.0 on apple store (something rarely seen on games with 1k+ ratings) and a very high rating on steam proves how good the game is. If you’ve read this far you are either the dev/publisher (hello), or you are debating on getting the game. You should get it, you won’t be disappointed. There is a learning curve but it just makes the game better.

The Perfect Mobile Game. When I played this on steam I felt like this would be a great game to have on mobile, and that feeling was absolutely correct. No ads, tons of content, easy to pick up and play, saves your spot perfectly if you have to stop in the middle, and a fun and addictive gameplay loop. I play basically no games on my phone, but already put tons of time into this game and it found its way to my home screen day 1. Insane value for $10, I can’t recommend this enough, even if mobile games aren’t typically your jam.

Can’t listen to music apps while playing the game. Not sure if it’s a bug but the game audio will play through my phone even when my phone is on silent (unusual for phone games). I also can’t listen to any of my own music or podcasts while playing. I absolutely love Balatro and just bought this, but being able to listen to my own stuff is pretty essential for me.

Instant classic. It’s the “rogue like deck builder” for people who don’t like the genre or even know what the genre is. Great game with frustrating bug. Super addictive gameplay with an annoying bug. I’ve completed several runs on different stakes on some decks only for it to not count as a win. I’ve had to redo several gold stake runs because of this. 5 star game if not for this bug.

My whole family plays this game!. I’ve now bought Balatro on 3 platforms and for both my kids. It’s a great game and has become a fun experience to share with my family. I really don’t understand why it’s been classified 18+, as despite being a game with poker and chips in it, there is no gambling involved. I’ve played lots of other games specifically targeted at children with far more predatory in-app purchases and pay to win mechanics, so I think Balatro deserves to be re-classified to around 12+. The Best. Amazing game. Right up there with the best like Slay the Spire, Monster Train etc. There seems to be some kind of cloud save between iOS devices at least which will save your overall progress, just not each Individual run per se. Fantastic Game but complete game ruining bug. The game will sometimes fail to register a win. I’ve won on nebula and anaglyph deck but the game fails to register a win. Really frustrating when I’m trying to complete everything this fantastic game has to offer.

One of the best games I’ve played especially for an indie… came into it looking for another 2 week phase but its stuck with me not to mention the 15 dollar price tag is worth it for endless replay-ability considering the vast amount of jokers, decks and challenges always something new to stick my head into and considering its 30$ on steam 15$ on the appstore for the same thing is too good of an offer.

Amazing game with the tiniest flaw (in my opinion). Balatro is an amazing, must-play, unique indie rogue-like that is both fun and requires and element of strategy rather than simply run and gun. I have been the playing the game on PC and Mobile for the past 3 months, and I eagerly await the cross-platform update. There is one suggestion I would like to make, which is a confirmation option when selling jokers. Too many times, have I sold a rare or even legendary joker when dragging it to the far-right end of my joker deck, so I would like to see an update to resolve that in the future. All-in-all, Balatro is an incredible game with just a few small, flaws.

Fantastic Indi Game!! Must Buy!. At first i was reluctant as I don’t know how to really play poker, or no the hands. I played a few rounds found it a little difficult and kept going back to see what hands there is. I watched a couple of videos on how to play and it clicked, The jokers mean the most and trying to play around those multiplayers. The game itself is very fun after the learning curve, no issues on my 2020 iPad Pro. Love to support Devs that bring full games to IOS, especially when they’re smaller Indi titles. Amazing Optimisation on iPhone with one pice of feedback.. Started on Switch and have completely moved to iPhone, it’s that good. I’d really love to see the dev add a “restart” button to replay the mode whether it’s standard or challenge. This would be in a new randomised seed. Right now, to restart a challenge, you have to click options > new run > challenges > start new challenge > page 1 > page 2 (optional) > play. Could just be click options > restart. Anyway, the game and dev are incredible. Can’t wait for the big update!

Great game, way too hot, kills my battery. On my iPhone 13 the battery starts burning like crazy. Like a percent a minute. Please fix it. I’m guessing fake reviews. I bought this game against my better judgement. I personally don’t enjoy card games except in real life. So when I heard that “this” game one GOTY I was stumped. So I bought it to give it a go. The first few games were good and I kept playing to see what people were going on about. Everyone claiming it’s addictive and the best game ever. I’m very easily pleased but I fail to confirm the hype. Indie or not. $15 for this is not worth the price tag. Game has less depth than “schedule 1” very disappointing game. Perfection.. I was hesitant to purchase this at first but as soon as I started playing I understood the price tag. This game is ridiculously addictive. I cannot stop playing it. Although I’m terrible at it and can’t complete the first 8 antes on red deck, I play this game any chance I get to beat it. There’s so much progression involved as well as collectables. The animations, sound effects and overall gameplay create a fantastic and fresh experience. Highly recommend this one. I’m not a big fan of mobile games but this one’s perfection.

Fantastic game with an awful bug. Yall don’t need me sing more praises on this fantastic game. Please just fix the issue of achievements not unlocking. The amount of times I’ve had “you’ve unlocked this new deck” just to find the win didn’t count and I have to do it again is frustrating. The GOAT card game. A beautiful, single-player, offline, roguelike, deck builder was something I always wanted. Something I could play at my leisure and it had a lot of variety so every time I play it’s different. I just didn’t know it would be a poker like game! This game is hard but enjoyable. I’ve only beaten it twice so far but every run I have enjoyed it. The music is one of the best soundtracks I have heard. I love the mysterious vibe I get from all the card designs. The bosses are challenging which is great. Feels almost souls like. The game is super satisfying and fun when you have things going your way. It’s a game I didn’t know I needed until I played a demo of it on the arcade subscription. After playing it, I immediately went out and bought it! good game but Bug is annoying. I use blue decks finish game three times but can not unlock any new things. The same unlock page jumps out every time I finish game. I clean my data to fix it. Bugs. My wins doesn’t count so i dont gain new decks. Because my wins doesn’t count i can’t unlock jokers like the blueprint. I keep unlocking the same jokers Even if i have already unlocked them. Also sometimes when i unlock new jokers, they disappear of my collection and i have to unlock them again. Please fix these bugs. It would be for sure, one of the best mobile game if it didn’t have these bugs.

Needs polishing. I love Balatro and reccomend it to friends, however there’s no way around the fact that it needs a few more updates to bring it to its PC counterpart. Often times my progress won’t save, either I’ll lose the stake or the jokers I unlocked. It will keep saying I unlocked a certain joker every hand. Little bugs like that. Local saves should be an option, I’m losing progress randomly and I don’t know why.

One of the greats. Easily worth the small fee, this game has loads of replayability. Highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys card games, strategy, or roguelikes.

Can’t get unlocks. I don’t know what to do if I’m progression locked for no other reason than a bug. It’s not fun to play this game when you know you’re locked out from ~40% of content since it’s still locked. I beat the game twice with the geeen deck and despite that still haven’t gotten the ability to play the new deck that should be unlocked as a result.

So many unseeded deck wins not being counted!!. Four, now, decks wins, it shows all the new unlocked stuff and then when I go to menu, none of it is unlocked. I do not play seeded. Go to challenges, still says I have 1/5 deck wins. I cannot unlock challenges because of this. For a paid game this is pretty frustrating. Losing motivation to play.

Of course, you also have Baron which is being copied by both Blueprint and Brainstorm. You play a single card. Then suddenly all your Red Seal Steel King of Hearts trigger like a billion times each multiplying your Mult by 1.5 more times than there are atoms in the known universe. Then you get a boss blind that disables face cards and you struggle to hit a thousand chips.

An absolutely charming card strategy game.. I can see why this game was nominated for the Game Awards! This is a very enjoyable deck/combo building game, with subtle nods to Inscryption in its gameplay aesthetic, but still being a very unique game on its own. Combining elements of poker, card strategy games, and even card collecting (Pokemon) with different rarities of cards, it’s a fun game which has great replay ability. Worth the $10 easily.

CAUTION you will not put this down. If you’re a fan of poker and gambling this is the game for you. I have spent countless hours playing this on my computer but now that it’s on my phone… I don’t think I’ve lived life in a few days. This game could heal Bruno Mars gambling addiction. AMAZING. This is one of my all time favorite games on steam! The amount of hours I have on my steam deck playing this game is astonishing lol. No problems saving/enjoying this game fully, though.

WINS ARE NOT COUNTED, SO FRUSTRATED!!!. I have spent hundreds of hours trying to complete gold strake on all decks, but sometimes my winnings were not counted for no reason. Tonight I spent 5 hours to get orange strake on the black deck (UNSEEDED), when I finally made it, I found that the strake of it is still purple and the jokers' stickers were not updated as well. It was SO DISAPPOINTED, HEARTBROKEN, and FRUSTRATED when you worked hard on something for 7 hours overnight, BUT THE RESULT WAS NOT COUNTED! Can you even imagine that? Never played any games that makes me so sad like this. I would rather play some games that are less fun and addictive but can acknowledge my achievement. So disappointed!!!

Absolutely Time Melting. My friend bought me this in the PC steam version first, and we both were super hooked. And we were sad that we can’t carry the game around…until it announced the mobile! Literally the best mobile game. Best mobile game I have ever played in my entire life, and I have been around since pre-cell phones. The developers should be proud. I have the pc version and still couldn't smash the buy button fast enough for mobile. Endlessly Entertaining. So excited that this fun, addictive card game is now available on mobile! It’s a great way to spend a 5 minute break or wait in an hours-long line. Rounds go quickly, there’s something new to discover every run, and unlocking new artifacts keeps the game fun and fresh. I learn something new every time I play, and I particularly enjoy trying new strategies to see how they turn out. It’s a family favorite!

Fantastic fun. Needs accessibility options. Game is a ton of fun. Great blend of tactical and strategic mechanics. My only issue is the fonts are TIMY even on a 15 pro max. Suits can be hard to differentiate. Maybe I’m missing options but being able to increase font would help a lot. Maybe replace playing card art with a larger number/suit icon?

Great but could be better. Balatro as a game is a 10/10. It’s absolutely fantastic. For the mobile version, I personally would’ve loved to see it formatted for portrait view. There’s some knock off versions of the game that have a better layout for mobile. It works fine enough but just seems a little clunky. Still nice to have balatro on mobile though.

Fantastic but…. Love this game however being on a phone everything is so much smaller. Would loved an option to have the game zoomed in or cards and text a little bigger for those of us who don’t have amazing eyesight. There is a lot of empty space on the sides of the screen. I think zooming in wouldn’t be too hard. :)

Dear devs, even after the latest update here’s 2 bugs that should not have made it out: if you already have 5 jokers in your hand you can’t add a negative joker from a joker pack. If game audio is set to 0 the game still disrupts A2DP streams when opened/switched to.

Super fun on iPad!!. Game is super fun to play, and I especially like doing sessions on my iPad mini! Would be nice if my current run was synced between devices, but at least the achievements and unlocked cards etc. carry over. Glad that there is also an option to just buy the game, rather than lease it through Apple Arcade!

Warning: Dangerously Addictive. If you value things like socializing, eating, or going outside, do not buy this game. It will force you into a hermit lifestyle, clinging to your phone in a dark room with the windows blocked out, praying that this hand is going to be the one. No game has come closer to replicating the feeling of hard drugs than this one. You have been warned.

Great Game; Great Port. I already loved the game on Steam, so I knew I needed the App Store release to bring with be everywhere. The game looks and feels super smooth and is easy on my battery life. If anything, the touch screen mechanics take a bit to get used to, and I’ve accidentally discarded a hand instead of playing it due to the button positions, but that’s just nitpicking. Thanks!

Best puzzle / card came of 2020’s so far… FOR REAL. Poker + Solitaire + Rogue-Lite Upgrades = Crazy Fun If you don’t already know, this game has already been hugely popular on PC and Consoles. I’ve owned this game on console since it came out and LOVED it, but this game WAS MEANT FOR MOBILE, so I preordered it as soon as I could! Also, this is an Indie Game made by a single person, which makes it all the more impressive…!

Literally the best mobile game available. It took many years for a mobile game to surpass Bloons TD6 for me, but here we are. The amount of possibilities per run in this game rivals Hades. It is unbelievably addicting and exciting. The type of game that ramps up and up and constantly leaves new ways to play as a mystery to make every match more exciting than the last. A masterpiece truly.

On of the best games ever. I absolutely love this game, the jokers are so fun, and you don’t even have to know how to play poker. some balancing is needed, with the the ultimate banana being to op,the death joker being to weak, not enough good chip generators, exc…, but nothing about the game is to bad, . thank you for making such a good game, and not including micro transactions. Ps, please let me go to the home menu during a run instead

The GOAT is now on mobile. What can I even say? This is one of the greatest card games I’ve ever played. GOAT is an understatement. Truly unique and flawlessly executed, this poker roguelike is an absolute must-have and will hook you instantly. Only issue is that it lacks an option to unselect all cards (like on pc), but that is a minor quibble at most. 10/10 just buy it.

Let’s go gambling. I already own the steam version. I bought this game within hours of its mobile release. It is incredible. Everything about this game makes it perfect to play anywhere. Now I can finally stop letting things like a job get in the way of my perfect poker game. Thank you Jokers

If you love cards, rogue likes, deck builders, poker and solitaire then you are about to lose hours of your life to one of the best games of 2024. And it’s in your pocket at all times?! How is this even legal?! If everyone in America downloaded this game our national GDP would go down from the lack of productivity we’d all be guilty off. Buy it now and thank me later. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fun card game!. I like this game and it’s fun to kill some time with. I’m not much of a mobile gamer but after playing on steam and finding out I can play on my phone, I had to get it. The only suggestion I would like personally is to be able to play this in vertical mode so I can play with one hand comfortably. Still worth it to check out! Also the music is great!

Excellent Port. It plays extremely smooth and I have not had any issues. One thing I’ve noticed is there is no way to unselect all cards at once like there is on pc with a right click. Also if a ui scaling feature would be possible, I feel this game could benefit as it can be a little small.

Love this game.. Absolutely adored this game for the Switch, bought it again on mobile. Really happy to see that it’s playable without internet (great for my commute since I use the subway) and no ads! Worth $10 again. Thanks for making me incredibly unproductive at work, would buy again.

Skipping blinds needs help. I love this game, own it on switch as well. The one thing that drives me crazy about the mobile version is that skipping a blind doesn't behave the same way as anything else. You should have to drag the skip option to make it happen, which would prevent accidental skipping while trying to see what the reward will be. Other than that, having this on the phone is great.

I Do Not Have a Gambling Addiction. Okay so maybe i do have an addiction, not to gambling, but to this amazing game. My addiction got so bad that at one point i was steam sharing the game from my pc to my phone so I could play Balatro when I wasn’t home.. I never would have expected a rouge-like card game to be the root to all my problems! 10/10 game would recommend to anyone trying to escape reality 😭

Great game but broken stats. Balatro is a fantastic game but this iOs version is seriously broken. Wins do not save, meaning it is impossible to get new cards, decks and stakes. Spending hours to get my first win, only for the stats to immediately disappear is disappointing. After every win I try something new, whether its going to endlessly, straight to the main menu, or starting a new run nothing works. The annoyance is enough that Ive given up until this can be patched and addressed

Amazing port. I was curious to see how this would play on the phone, and I’m happy to report that it’s a beautifully smooth experience. The controls and UI are both very well thought out for mobile screens, and I’ve yet to encounter a single bug. If you’re a fan of this wonderful game already and want to be able to play it on the go, buying this is a no-brainer.

Just as good on mobile!. I love playing the PC version of this game, and bought it on mobile soon as I realized I could. Perfect game to play during down time at work. Everything converted to mobile well and has all the accessibility features that really help me. Highly recommend high contrast cards if you’re playing on a cellphone

If you’re employed, leave while you have a chance. This game is perfection. I was previously able to maintain a job, a wife and kids, and a social life on the side, as I was only able to play Balatro on my PC. Now that it’s out on mobile, I’ve lost my job, my family, and my friends (I’m like a stencil joker). That’s okay, though, because I have Balatro to keep my company!

Best mobile game out right now. Balatro is a game that feels like it should have been on mobile from the start. Now that it’s finally been ported to mobile, I can whole heartedly say that IN MY OPINION this is the best way to play Balatro. This version is amazing and it feels like there were no compromises with this port.

A video poker game from another dimension. (No gambling). The art and music are incredible- the game has so much style. The mechanics are great and easy to get a hold of, I’ve convinced some older relatives to give it a try and they’ve had no problem getting the hang of it. I’ve beaten gold stake on some decks in pc and so looking forward to doing it all over again on my phone. Thank you Localthunk!

Balatro review. Played this game on steam before mobile release. This is going to be a classic. So glad it came to mobile. Great deck builder. Buy it. Honestly, i can’t imagine a better game to play when your doing nothing like on a flight or car ride. More intense and engaging than solitare or any other equivilant game to play by yourself.

10 Hours in 3 Days. This game is amazing. There’s so much variation and decision making that creates a unique game every time you play. I LOVE that there’s a 4x speed option as it helps you understand the macro game a little more. I also appreciate the accessibility options built into the game. Overall, this game is an amazing way to just pass time or to really think deep.

Tutorial. Obviously I wanted to try this game because of the hype. Downloaded and tried to play. First the sound didn’t work. Reinstalled. Then it worked. Then I got a call as soon as the tutorial started, so I had to close it. Came back and it wouldn’t give me the option to replay the tutorial, even after resetting and deleting profiles. I won’t reinstall it a second time just to get it to work as intended. I know it sounds petty, but $10 is $10 and I expected it to work. I understand it’s a one man dev…but with the success he needs to hire a couple QA people. Disappointing.

BALATRO. I’ve legit bought this game 6 times for myself, friends and family across multiple platforms. I LOVE BALATRO. The gameplay is perfect for both “pick up and play” sessions AND for hour long binges. The aesthetics of Balatro are on point and sound design is crisp and satisfying. Not to mention that ever-changing background music. So happy for this release!

Among the Greats. Balatro joins a prestigious pantheon of top tier rogue-like PC ports. An immediate demand from the game’s massive fan base, this release was eagerly awaited. If the jerseys in the rafters have names like Slay the Spire, Loop Hero and Dead Cells, then Balatro is this year’s #1 draft pick. Well done on the port, Thunk. Roses and standing ovation from your fans. May this release bring you the extra cash flow you need to build Balatro even further!

Good game, but some bugs. After completing a win on a deck and going to endless mode, even though it said I unlocked items afterward in the main menu, it still was locked and I also was not able to use the unlocked deck. There are other minor visual bugs but the game is the same otherwise and is very good. After the bugs get polished out, it will be perfect for mobile.

Absolutely 5 star game!!! Definitely need a Steam save transfer!!!!. I had a copy on Steam and thought the game worthy for Game of the Year! I want to also play it on iPad and Apple Vision Pro so I bought another copy on App Store, plus sincere support for the developer. I truly hope there will be an Steam Save Transfer or Sync feature in the near future. That may help a lot, thank you!!!

The Perfect Port. Balatro is a fantastic game utilizing the simple to learn difficult to master philosophy to game design. If you’re familiar with playing cards, poker, and basic mathematics this game will be very enjoyable. However the game is linked to poker and thus you must rely on the flimsy foundation of luck. One unlucky moment could bring your incredible run to a screeching halt. Skill can only take you so far so I must deduct a star from an otherwise perfect port.

Screen Space. I love this game so much I bought it both on PC and iPhone. The only problem I have with the iPhone version is that the screen space is not maximized/optimized. This makes the buttons difficult to use (one glaring example are tags). Hopefully over time they can make this port function better as its own app rather than simply copying and pasting from PC

Great game but can't be played offline. I love Balatro but can't stand that it requires an internet connection to sync your game. It's a solo game. I don't think it even has a leaderboard, nor am i interested in one. I don't need my games remotely saved. I can't imagine it needs more than a few dozen variables to save data locally. I'm often offline due to where i live and work. This is a constant annoyance for me, unfortunately. Dev, please remove the remote save, or have at least a toggle preference in the settings. ugh

Good game, but progression is broken. I have a lot of time in this game. Just did a run with the plasma deck and hit 1.2e17 scoring on endless. I was on orange stake and finally unlocked the orange stake deck, and discarded a Royal Flush to unlock that joker. Unfortunately, when I finished, even though it showed the deck and joker unlocked, it didn't? It didn't save the progress and nothing was unlocked. It was as if the run never happened. This has happened before. I played for hours and was unlocking a lot, only to find nothing saved. I had to shut the game down and start it again in order for data to save properly. This is a basic, fundamental requirement of a game like this. It is incredibly frustrating to lose progress after a really good run, and shouldn't be possible in such a laid back game. Please fix this asap.

Existing player coming to mobile. Never left a review before but felt the need to for this game. It’s absolutely amazing! In terms of roguelikes I highly recommend this one. The mobile version feels clean and well done, and I couldn’t be more excited to have this game on IOS. Good luck to everyone playing and have fun! Definitely worth picking up!

Actually worth the money. I’m definitely someone who clicks away when ads ask “how do you like this game?!!” But this is actually such a great game and doesn’t make me feel like my brain is rotting when I play it. If you’ve been debating whether or not it’s worth the money, I’m here to tell you that it really is.

Don't buy this game, you won't put it down.. This game is a perfect Pandora's box of addictive entertainment (now in your pocket). Every round is a compulsive curse of bigger and bigger numbers, driving you to the edge of dopamine bliss. Contained within is seemingly countless hours of entertainment that 9 out of 10 dentists would always recommend.

FINALLY ON MY PHONE!!!!!. Ever since playing balatro on switch I looked immediately on the App Store 2 months ago and it wasn’t there. My surprise when it was announced 1 month later after releasing on every game store 1 year ago. I’ve been so addicted the music, gameplay loop and satisfying combos are to die for. Worth the $9.99. GOTY Contender. One of the best games that came out in 2024. Not just mobile, but in all gaming. This rogue-like card game creates endless fun each round. It’s also easy enough to explain to any casual gaming friend than other rogue-like games (i.e. Hades, Dead Cells, Slay the Spire, etc). If you know how Poker works, you can already grasp the concept of Balatro. Just buy it, $9.99 is a steal for the endless hours you’ll play this.
