Useful app. My special needs child has issues with recognizing and dealing with emotional states and this app helps.

Helpful. Providing the skill of recognizing various emotions of different people Need to customize more and more to meet learner needs

Love it!. Our son has great difficulty recognizing others emotions, especially with strangers in social situations. So this has been an absolute god-send in helping him feel more at ease. Thank you to the developers. 10/10

Frustrated by new version! 😞. Just upgraded to a newer iPhone & sadly my apps didn't make the transition. I really liked the original version because it allowed me to individualize the program to my different clients by targeting specific emotions for each one. I just spent 5 minutes trying to remember how to access the settings screen-when I went back to get a clue from the App Store info re: the app, that's when I found out you had "improved" it. Now I'll have to try to find another app that will work-but what I especially liked about your app was the realistic photos. Could you please reconsider what was suggested by one of the other reviewers & offer two versions. That would be a way to meet the needs of your varied consumers. If you do upgrade again to incorporate two versions, could you please consider having only one good/clear face out of the four that really best matches the targeted emotion? It makes scoring/data collection much more valid when there is less chance of two or more possible correct responses. Thanks so much for listening to our feedback. 😊

Happy-excited!. My daughter with ASD loves this app...she sits and repeats the word and makes the faces...and of course I have to make the face as well! The distinction between baby and toddler isn't always very clear....maybe you could work on that...but all in all she seems to really like it....isn't it great that children learn through play! Sure makes it easier on us adults....and gives us an excuse to stop and play as well!

So much potential with advanced features.. The advanced features were great! I'm afraid if I update I won't have the same features I was looking forward to using with my speech and language kids. I just downloaded the app last week, but could see so much potential in the customizing options for future speech therapy sessions. If I update will I lose these features?

Shows promise. I am an SLP who tried this app with a few children with autism. They had all tried Autism Xpress which uses cartoons and I wanted to check for carry over. I would like it if there was an option for emotions only. Customization was confusing or just didn't work

Confusing. Great photos, but the combinations of the 4 choices is often confusing, and there are action words given as names of emotions. For example, on one page the stimulus word was "smiling" (action, not emotion) and three of the pictures showed someone smiling, yet there was only one correct answer. In another example, one page used the word "focused" for a certain picture, then on the very next page, used the same picture for the word "curious". This would be fine if they were actually synonymous, but not so much! Let's face it, we use these apps with low-functioning or very young children who are easily confused. The stimulus items and the picture choices need to be more clear. It would also be great to incorporate synonyms in this app, as many children get stuck on "happy", "sad", and "mad" and really need to expand their vocabulary.

Learning Experience? Heck no!. Of all the apps I have ever purchased or downloaded in my entire life, this is by far the worst one I have ever seen. The pictures are repetitive, the voice is annoying, and some of the feelings don't really go with the picture most of the time. For example, when the voice asked for something "silly", all the pictures have someone smiling. In the end, the app showed that the answer was the little girl who looked rather frustrated than silly. But it's not just that; there are also times when it comes down to two pictures for smiling and I just guess and get it right 50/50 of the time. If both are smiling, I would just pick one and hope for the best. That is the biggest letdown of the app. At the beginning of downloading this app, I expected myself, an autistic 16 year old, to get further knowledge on feelings. But, in the end, it was just an awful mess that could be better off made by a 7 year old. Please, spare your time and DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP!!

This is great!. Really! I would give it 5 stars if there were more emotions. For the price, it is fabulous ...

Good idea... But fix it please! As soon as I customized it the app stopped working. I was so excited about this! I turned it so it only covered mad, sad, and happy to start out with a student who is working on the goal of recognizing emotions. When I finished customizing I started the app and it closed. It will not start at all now beyond the opening screen. Please see what you can do.

Can't customize!. Though there is the customization feature, whenever I attempt to turn off certain concepts to test only a few at a time, the program crashes. I've tried reloading it twice. Please fix this bug...I really want to use this with my students with pragmatic language difficulties!

Review. Nice audio but sometimes the pictures are too similar to each other.

Emotions and other feelings. I, too, did not like the way you had to go through the app to find the picture/feelings that you want to student's to identify for a specific book, connection, or prior connection for introducing literacy books to small groups of children. The pictures are great; but, need to be assimilated so that they can be chosen to match the teaching and content for students. V. Martin, Literacy teacher

Not helpful. Not helpful

Fabulous. Wish I could put my students' pictures on the app.

Real faces and people.... My son needed to identify emotions and this software provides a good start. some of the photos did not match the emotion as well as I would have liked, especially when two or three would fit the emotion you were looking for. Thank you

Black box covers part of photos. If you have the sound off and the readable words on, the words are right in the middle of the four pictures and surrounded by a black box that covers to much of the pictures. A child with autism might not be able to determine what the rest of each of the pictures look like even if they just saw it in the last set. It would be helpful to have the word underneath the four pictures so it is not blocking any part of the photos.

Old version useful. The old app was better. My daughter learned more from it because it had more to offer. Could you have two different apps, one with just emotions and one with everything? Maybe add even more into the everything app?

Emotions. I'm pleased to find this emotive training. I do not have Autism nor other neurological challenges. However, I come close to a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder in that emotions and feelings, the senses were disregarded in my childhood as inferior information! Try to define facial expressions when experiencing the same was shunned. At 68 years I'm just catching up working to "sense" in my body what I was forbidden to have all these years. So Thank You!!! I'm beginning to feel, to sense self and not feel so empty. Keep up this important work. I do agree that the latest App Upgrade Is NOT an improvement. It was better to have more than one right answer. Infants and toddlers images overlap in age. Other feelings have nuances that do not preclude only one right answer. Is there a way I can reload the old app and keep both? I find it relaxing and satisfying to end my day scrolling thru these photos and confirming my new depth of empathic feelings and sensing. Thank you again! Mary

Pre-k. This will be great for my pre-k students! I like how you can customize it also! Can't wait to try it out with them!

Nice setup. I really liked the format of this app and the great picture choices. I didn't care for the seemingly confusing labeling of the difference in categories such as baby's and toddlers. For example, in some groups of pictures the label was baby and other groups used the label toddlers. The focus should be on the emotion displayed rather than on the age grouping or gender grouping in an app about emotions. I really did like the quality of the emotions displayed in the photos and certainly appreciated having multiple examples via ages, gender and ethic background.

Good for autistic children. My son is learning to recognize emotions with this app..highly recommend

Velliyangiri. I am exsited to see this app & its feature. Worth to keep in iPhone.

Kathy. I use this app in my class with students who have difficulties identifying emotions. They enjoy playing with this app.

Love how you can customize. I teach sped self contained deaf and other disabilities, I love how I can customize the emotions shown and tested also you can have sound and labeling for deaf and hearing students

Eh. More than one picture to display similar emotions is fine with me, and having each picture represent more than one emotion is also acceptable. I do not like, though, when there is not more than one correct answer choice. Very frustrating for me and my students alike.

This game is so amazing.. My 4-year-old LOVES this game and is so proud when she gets the answer right. It has only crashed once and we’ve had it for a year. TOTALLY recommend this game! Thanks developers!!!

Touch and Learn- Emotions. Touch and Learn - Emotions, this app features 4 real person pictures per page or emotion with the target emotion featured in text in center of page. The word is spoken and the user will choose a picture. Correct responses will get a "you're great" incorrect responses will get a sound to indicate to try again. The settings button will show many sections to change the game play as well as a section about this app. Apps created by Grasshopper apps prove time and time again that the developer puts much thought and care into their creation. There is a small button to take you to more apps to purchase, but does not intrude on game play. This is an excellent app for teaching a child to recognize facial expressions for given emotion.

Great Application for Students!. This application has been one of the best that I have used for my students. I teach English language to beginners and this app allowed my students to learn nouns, adjectives, and verbs. My students were able to listen and focus and the pictures were beautiful. My student have really been able to add their own images and labels. We spent a lot of time on vocabulary and we were able to adjust and modify the nouns and verbs. I can't wait for your next installment!!! You have really created something wonderful for teachers and students alike. I am very impressed! Thank you!

2 stars. My brother has autism and I got this app for him. What I don't understand is that it only goes sideways and doesn't ask you what emotion it is. So now, it's pretty much worthless and doesnt help at all.

Give me the sentences!. Ok. I am an 11 yr old female. We got this so that we could customize it. It was great... Til u took out the sentences. Can there at least be a option to have it on please??

Good concept...needs better questions though. Really love the idea of this app, and so far seems to work fine. I just have issues with many of the questions being unclear with the photo choices. Like point to the smiling girl, and there are 2 but only one is correct, or point to the woman that is concentrating, and there are 2 correct answers but one looks like she has a migraine, not concentrating. Or point to the bored kid, and looks like 2 could be bored, silly boy... Baby/toddler differences etc... This would be a Great app if the questions and the photos could be a bit clearer. Can not use it with my students as is.

Very useful. I really like that users can choose which emotions to work on! I can target a few emotions and add more emotions as they show growth in comprehension.

Great real pics. This app uses real pictures. Sometimes, it is difficult to determine between emotions when they look curious or surprised as they could be scared or confused? I think the app could be improved by including a set with word tags for our new SEL learners.

Great, but crashes. This program is great.....BUT, it crashes when the nouns are turned off...in fact the only thing that works is the nouns portion. Frustrating because my daughter was learning so much from this app....

My students love it. I am a behavior therapist and my middle school student with autism loves this game. He even asks to earn it for good work. I wish there were more like it.

Great!. This app is simple with great pictures. It is easy for kindergarteners to use on their own and will help them know how to read how people feel by their expressions.

Similar pictures. Hi, I do like this app. I am an SLP and recommend that you only allow for one correct answer in the array at a time. It is difficult to teach students/clients to analyze facial expression when two similar pictures appear and either is scored as correct. Thanks!

Helpful, but some quirks. This is a great app for not only students on the autism spectrum, but also for ELLs (English Language Learners, for the lay people out there). However, you have to fix several issues, such as a baby being identified as a boy when you can't really discern the gender in the picture, and the girl who is smiling with her hands on each side of her face not being considered "happy," and the picture of the smiling boy in the same photo with a girl being a correct choice for "pick the smiling boy.". I agree with a previous reviewer that if you focused on the emotion only, rather than throwing gender and age into the mix, it would be a better app. Regardless, remove the confusion and you folks have a five star app!

Love how it can be customized.. If you don't think a picture matches the description? change it!! I also use pictures of my client and his family to help him practice reading their emotions. Overall great app.

Like it a lot!. I think this is a very nice app. I like that I can target what emotions to work on and eliminate the error sounds. These two features are great for SLPS. Pictures are very nice and lots of vocabulary and concepts to target. Kids like it too! If only it tracked accuracy...

Appropriate pictures for emotions. Pictures match emotion and app is customizable.

Bug loves it. I give this app 5 stars just the way it is. I have not updated it. My daughter is seven and has c. p. this is one of her favorite apps. I find it is easy for her to use, and she is very vocal while playing.

Great for building social skills!. This app is fantastic! I teach little ones with special needs and this is a tough skill for a lot of my kiddos. Thank you so much for creating such a great resource! I love that you can choose which emotions to include so it's not overwhelming.

Unable to customize. Good in theory, but it did not allow me to customize it to ask just emotions. I wish they would redo it and allow there to be certain levels of difficulty (of my choosing). Great pictures, though! It's too bad I can't use it as I'd like. I quickly deleted it since it shuts down after customizing.

Gender/Age confusion. I love the quality of the pix in this app, and the woman's voice. My only complaint is the ambiguity in some of the pictures. It is very difficult to tell the boys from the girls in many cases- the boys have long wavy hair and look like girls. Sometimes it is difficult to distinguish the age variations, too. There isn't much difference in the babies and toddlers, and sometimes between the children vs teenagers or teenagers vs adults. I would think you would design these with NO ambiguity so that the focus could be on the emotions on the faces of the distinct people.

Please put the full sentences back!. I am a teacher for hearing impaired children. Before the update, I used the app to teach not only the emotions, but a listening exercise for plurals and descriptive words. With the current version, having only one word is too difficult for my students to hear and it does not help with the contextual processing. Please change it back!

Almost perfect. I agree, this app can frustrating as there is not always one correct answer/reading of an emotion picture! But is not that the hard part of reading emotions? I try and incorporate the variable component in the learning.

Purchased- no sound 😞. Tried all my volume controls and no sound

A bit confusing. I intended to use this app for work purposes with children. The current version has a number panels that would be confusing for the age range of children it is intended for. I agree with the previous reviews that a variety of ages and simplified instructions would make this app much more useable with young children.

Disappointed :(. Very disappointed with the current update. Some emotions are hard for me to figure out let alone the age group this app is designed for. Hope you bring back the better descriptions for what they need to do eg "point at the sad boy". Also I liked the fact you had teenagers, man, woman, child.

Excellent. This is great. Heaps of faces and expressions. I do agree that some of them are difficult but my child is high functioning and I like that she has the additional challenge of looking more carefully at the faces to find the emotion as its not always easy in life. I would say this app is great for those who have a good understanding of happy, sad and angry and want to improve on that. Loving it. Also love the broad range of faces

Artz123. Great learning game for toddlers

RRich. From an education point of view I was disappointed in this app. The layout is very busy with the pictures taking up the whole screen. When it asks to identify a picture there is often several that you could choose but it will only respond as correct on one. This is frustrating. I felt the language used was also not appropriate, using terms such as kid and referring to a boy and toddler when there are two baby pictures on the page and you can't tell if they are boys or not. This app has great potential I just don't think it's quite there yet.

Helpful for me!. I like this app a lot, It really helps me exercise my recognition of expressions. Some of them are hard and I've accidentally memorised some of the expressions and what they mean so they're not as useful now, but beyond that fantastic app!!

Mum of two. Perfect app to help my autistic son 4yrs with emotions & others facial expressions just love all this developers apps. The fact that you can change & record your own voice is great :) I can even take pictures & add them myself

Real teacher. Great App!! Love the real pictures,, and you have the option to costomise them!!good job and it's Free:)

Very useful. I find myself using this fab app often during therapy. Thank you for such a useful and appealing app

Versatile app!. Really useful and pleased it uses real people!

label emotions. "smiling" is not an emotion. I'm not sure if some if the others are either.

Great app. Lots of customisation available

Clear and customizable. Great clear pictures and love that you can customize it in so many ways. Thanks for another great app :)

Great idea but not all features work. I really love this idea, and I especially love the idea of the concepts being customizable, but the minute I try and record the speech for the concept the app crashes :(

Nice apps. It helps to developing skills in kids with development delays and with disabilities .

Disappointing. I am not impressed with the pictures and the voice does not sound natural. Customization Is confusing - not worth my time.

Nice. Good for little learners

Pre-K students with Autism. Great app for teaching both my verbal and non-verbal students👍

Can't hear anything. There is no sound...bummer!

Wonderful. Wonderful

Awesome. Awesome app

Emotions. There is no sound

Emotions. Great app for children with autism!

I want the old app back.. I liked it the way it was. This is too simple.

Great for preschool!. I teach preschool and was looking for an emotions app. This one is GREAT! Thanks!

Not my favorite. There is too much ambiguity with the pictures.

Always upside down!. I have the screen lock set and this app is always upside down! Ouch!

Slp. Love the concept but when customized it quit working.

This is awful. Most of these free apps have no sound. What a waste of time. If you are going to develop an app like this and offer it for free at least put sound with it.
