One of the best guitar mags available. Guitarist is a terrific magazine, with great content. From interviews and product reviews to lessons, the articles are informative and helpful. Add the extra online content, and you've got a combination that's hard to beat. I'd only give it's sister publication Guitar Techniques a higher score because of its additional lesson and music content.

Going downhill. Used to work great now in the last 2 months just horribly slow and won't share between the iPad and phone keeps wanting to double charge me for issues I'm about to take my business elsewhere

Critical bugs. Serious stability and performance issues in current version. Store view can take a minute or more to update, and it refreshes every time it appears. Several failures to process downloaded issues properly. This has caused system freezes that require restarting the iPad. Puzzling because the same app for sister publications like FutureMusic appear to work fine.

Memory killa. 3.5GB usage j to download my second issue. Unsubscribe.. Waste of money if you use your ipad for anything else.

Fix bug. Would be incredible if it didn't crash every time you tried to open an issue you paid for

Lousy.... Really. Don't bother. Downloaded and paid for two editions, both of which have now disappeared into the ether. Un/reinstalling the app makes not the slightest bit of difference. Is it really so difficult for them to sort this out..?

Lost my issues. Like many of the other reviews have stated. I too lost all my issues that I purchased when I updated the app. I love this magazine and its a great price compared to the news stand. But they seriously need to fix this bug or I will never purchase from them again.

Mr. lost all previously bought issues when I updated the app. have not been able to restore them and cannot get help through their "customer service".

No Customer Service Whatsoever. I've been buying and downloading Guitarist for a year or so. The software got an - ahem - "upgrade" a couple of months ago, whereupon I lost all the purchased mags. I've tried following all the instructions for restoring lost editions, but it doesn't work. I've tried contacting them three times, and all three times I've received a useless automated reply. I give up. The App doesn't work, and obviously they have no idea about Customer Service. Pathetic.

Same issues other have had 2 years ago!. Unfortunately, after 6 months of nice and smooth experience, the app started to be unresponsive and extremely slow in downloading (...the few times that I succeeded!) I got twice the same “automatic answer” from Technical Support and I tried all their recommendations with no success. I believe that all Guitarists love to spend time playing, reading news about Guitars and buy new stuff. No Guitarist like to spend time fighting with this app! As much as I love Guitarist, I dislike this app: please do something!

Crap. This app would rather push notifications at me than function properly. I have tried everything the Help section suggests, but the issue I purchased (and for which I was already billed) refuses to download. What next? Delete the app and look elsewhere.

Fraud. These guys will take your money then mess with the app so it doesn't work. You reload it, try to waste half a day recovering what you had, then that doesn't work either. They're just useless. I subscribed for a year and lost it all!

Problems downloading. Unable to download issues. All my other magazines are anywhere from 75 meg to 250. With this one I need well over a gig of space to even try downloading. I have 1.3GB of free space and that's not enough. Please make the downloading of media optional, like other magazines. Very poor.

All it says is "can't reach servers". All the other magazine apps from the developer say the same thing. I tried a hard reset, still the same results.

My issues have disappeared also.. This app is a disaster. It won't validate the previous issues I have paid for. I have sent an email through the help menu of the app. All I received was a form email repeating the info on the help page. All others who have experienced this problem should also post a review here- it may save others a lot of time trying to get this app to function as advertised.

Mac. Is this app ever going to be used on a Mac ????? Cmon I’ve been waitin for 5 years

Very Disappointing!. I have been a subscriber of guitarist for years, pretty expensive in the states. When I got my iPad I decided to let my mail subscription go, for convenience and space issues. The app was ok at first, having the audio examples and videos right there was nice. So I down loaded several issues. I "accidentally" down loaded the update to this app, I have lost all issues that were previously downloaded. I took their suggestion and downloaded GD Archive app...still nothing. When I try to reload, not enough memory message appears. If you have this app and enjoy it, don't update! You lose everything and gain nothing.

Great Magazine for Guitar Players. Updated Review (edited). I love and appreciate the issues. So well done. Only problem was I had one magazine stuck in the cue, i.e. Refuse to download the issue. I followed the instructions, which advised to delete the App and reinstall it. Then it is supposed to allow you to restore the magazines you purchased. The 24 magazines I purchased would not re-install. I kept getting an error message. The App developer did not respond to the in App message (3 times). Needless to say I was crazy mad. However, they did restore my purchases after I left my review. Now all is well with the universe again.

Bad Upgrade?. After latest upgrade my subscription is gone and does not restore. Automated reply from support, no communication and no magazine, weak weak weak.

This app is awful.. Tried to download the current issue but the download showed as queued and would not load. Did all the suggested steps and reloaded the app and now all my previous downloaded purchases are gone and will not download. This app is a waste of time and money.

No good. Paid for an issue but it does not download. Customer support told me to contact apple for a refund. Ridiculous

I Love It!. I've not had any of the aforementioned problems. I enjoy Guitarist magazine. It is one of the best of its kind. App works, nothing fancy, but it is comparable to the Guitar Player magazine app (only the articles are better).

Download request rarely works. The magazine itself is great,but the download request rarely works correctly. I have to fight with it to get every new issue. Usually ,you have to delete the app,then reinstall and hope it works. Sometimes it does,mostly it doesn't,requiring trying again. Been a subscriber for a few years,but have decided not to renew because it's not worth the trouble. Good magazine....terrible interface. Recommend to steer clear until someone gets it together.

Guitarist app broken. Always been a great way to read one of my favorite mags, however, since latest app update and latest iOS update the darn app no longer works. Issues are; slow load times, slow download times, showed I am subscribed but still seems to want me to purchase current magazine, difficulty accessing my library, and last but not least, app becoming completely non responsive. I do not think this is what I am paying for! This on top of my last working version that no longer included the video and audio links I had come to appreciate. Think you would do well to address this poorly crafted update to this app.

Rip off. Paid for content and cannot view it

Can’t get the app to work. I was able to download one issue and really enjoyed the digital magazine so I bought the subscription and now I can’t download anything. Whatever is going on needs to be fixed ASAP. This is ridiculous

The previews are too small. At least have a proper size table of contents.

Horrible app. This app is slower than molasses in January. It is totally unresponsive. I have complained about this same thing several times and NO response or change. I love the magazine but hate the app! Guitar World isn't much better. I have full subscriptions to both, they both keep trying to charge me for issues etc. the communication with iTunes Store is pathetic. This is way below the usual Apple standards! Irritating as can be!

My Issues have disappeared. The app is fine BUT my 12-month subscription ended last month. At that time, I then lost access to the 12 issues that I had received as part of the subscription - I did not keep them all on my iPad, as they took up too much room. Guitarist's app support suggested I tried repurchasing the product. However, the 12-month subscription is no longer an option for in-app purchase. They have now advised me to contact iTunes support and get them to resolve the problem, as they can't help me. Please be aware that if you stop subscribing, you could lose access to the issues from your subscription, something that was not clear from the information provided at purchase.

Slow to download. Takes far too long to download the magazine. If the app closes, the download stops??!!!

Brilliant guitar magazine. Certainly one of the best digital magazines on the market in any category or subject. Great use of video, audio and still pictures, with the great benefit of offline access. Outstanding reviews of guitars, amps and effects. Highly recommended.

Mr. Great and much cheaper option if you don't live in the Europe like me with only one drawback ..... I still prefer a real magazine! There is no substitution really...... Digital copy is something like $6 per issue, A real hard copy is $19 per issue in Australia but I now figure out that nothing beats hard copy! I will not re-subscribe for the digital.... Im happy to move backward!

Magazine good, app bad. Constant problems with downloading new purchases. Every Time the app has to be reinstalled and all purchases downloaded again. Bad!

Excellent but needs improvement. Hi Guys , Have only posted a review here because I think I have been doubled charged. Despite this I still give you a great review because your magazine has been of great help in my (admittadly slow) progress in guitar. I subscribe to both the paper and ipad version of your magazine. The details: 1.) I paid for a 12 month subscription but when i downloaded the latest awesome issue (issue 356 ... the 6th issue since I subscribed) on my ipad it appears to have charged my account for a single issue. I understood that a 12 month subscription covered 12 monthly issues. To be clear the ordering of the subscription and the subsequent downloads were all on my ipad. 2.) I did not get any ... "you have already purchased..." etc messages, 3.) I could not find any obvious support contact pages, and 4.) When I click the "Report a Problem" link on the invoice it goes to a generic "you need itunes 10" on my web browser. I have itunes 10 installed on my pc to no avail. Can you please respond / help me. Download speed. Same for me. The download speed is appalling!

Packed with videos and sound.. This is a high quality guitar magazine with lots of videos of reviews, technique and backing tracks. The only downside to the high definition video and sound is that each magazine is a big download. Worth the wait in my opinion.

Magazines are so slow to download. I downloaded this app today as I thought I was ready to join the digital age. This app proved me wrong.... I downloaded the app no probs but then I tried to download the free magazine. What a waste of my life. It took hours, and I really do mean hours to download the magazine. It was pathetic! I never expected it would be hours before I could read my copy of Guitarist magazine. Something really needs to be done because it was ridiculous waiting or this thing.

Top magazine. I look forward each to edition on my iPad. Fantastic information, as an Army pensioner with guitar in hand it's great to practice new things, also some great articles and little information parts. Shame in Australia can't enter the competitions and such. How I would love a new Tube amp or great guitars I've seen given away. Keep up good work. Cheers

App sucks. I've bought twice issues and both times it takes my money but errors out. I've tried multiple times to restore or even get my two magazines back but to no avail. Don't get this app !

Awesome!. I love this magazine, it has the best gear reviews and the video's are great!

So So. Favorite magazines. But crashes and won't restore purchases. Please kick out your IT and correct the apps to take less space in the memory.

Piece of crap. The magazines and the format is beautiful. But almost useless....crashes 75% of ht time.

All around excellent. Full on high quality glossy magazine! Plenty of photos and videos of highest quality. Articles on artists and gear reviews as well as instructional articles. Music is tasteful and can be inspiring. It's the one magazine for me. One word of caution, the magazine is based in the UK so represented pricing may not apply.

Great articles & looovely pictures. This mag is about 5 to 7 times the download size of a typical magazine. That extra size is all about photo resolution. If you find guitars 'drool-worthy' the pictures here will have you wearing a bib. The articles are often about guitars themselves, not so much guitarists or techniques (the sister publications Total Guitar and the excellent Guitar Techniques cover those areas). This is well worth the subscription price. The photographers, writers and editors do great work!

Buggy like crazy. One of my favorite magazines, but this app is super buggy. Crashes all the time and won't restore purchases. Please fix.
