5 Stars If ProRAW Worked. Contrary to some You Tube reviews I took the plunge and purchased the app. For my needs it works great unless I want to shoot In the Pro RAW mode. Then it combines a lower quality JPG with the DNG such that I cannot revert to only the DNG and thus DNG editors such as RAWPower that I use do not recognize the combined files as RAW so I cannot do RAW editing-a real bummer. Please fix this.

No Zoom?. The developers seemed to have missed adding zoom to the interface. Not a bad app but there are better photography apps available.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. This app is crap. It only gives you a few options nothing special. I have better control over the camera with my phone without the app. It only gives you 3 choices for Iso AE , 200 or 1500 nothing more and no control over shutter speed. Only gives you control of exposure thats all. Super disappointed I wasted my money. I rather use the phone camera than the app. Wish I can get my money back

For the creative shooter. I rarely leave reviews, but I have to express my appreciation for this thoughtfully crafted photo app. It feels like a tool designed specifically for those of us who appreciate the unique latitudes and limitations of shooting on film. It comes with plenty of options when flexibility in post is required, but there’s something special about committing to a shot without getting bogged down in editing that I can really appreciate. Firstlight will be a mainstay for me. Thanks, Filmic.

Little improvement over native app. Semi-pro user here. Cons: App lags in focus, lens switching. Lacks easy access to other tools that native app has. Portraits can achieved but takes more effort. Aperture priority missing. Pros: focus peaking, ISO and shutter priorities. But overall, just another camera app—not a replacement.

Forgotten by Filmic. Lots of potential here but the app has been mostly forgotten. I paid for the subscription a couple years ago and in that time First Light as become free, plus we’ve not had any major updates. Sad. First Light could be so amazing - wireless tethering, custom looks, PRORAW, maybe even partnerships with flash manufacturers to control lights wirelessly like Prophoto C1. I emailed support a year ago and was told some good stuff was coming. Maybe they need a few more years…

Making moves.... The app is great, pretty intuitive. I’ve only been using it for a little while and have yet to use it in a professional setting. It’s a little slow on the trigger tho and so you’re not sure you’ve got the shot until it shows in the camera roll. Definitely use some type of stabilizer until you get use to the way it functions, it’s good that they have a big shutter button. However I do like the familiar feel from using FilMic Pro and it has the desqueeze feature for anamorphic lenses. I love that I can shoot RAW DNG & TIFF files, the histogram is like right there and it doesn’t get into the way. I have an iPhone 11 Pro max so I can change between all 4 lenses pretty easily. Although I’m missing one huge feature, I hope it’s going to be a quick and easy update. Give me the ability to use the DOF MK2 adapter from BeastGrip Pro for stills PLEASE!!! I know you can do this. Cheers!

Zoom. I can’t figure out how to zoom on this app. The tutorial says to press the lens tray but I only get a selfie option. Where are the other lens options??

Be warned, last IOS update 15 really screwed this app up. Now locked into portrait mode, but image is rotated 90 to the right. View during picture taking is jerky and sluggish. I don’t think this is the fault of this developer, it is happening in another photo app from another developer too, almost the exact same problems. This on an iPad Mini 5, updated to IOS 15. Wouldn’t you think Apple would test their updates on their popular and pay for photo apps before they release them?

Incredible! But needs WB control. I really like this app a lot, really no complaints except that it has no white balance control. If we can get white balance control that would terrific!

No zoom??. I just downloaded this app because I love fimic pro but I've come to discover that I cannot for the life of me find how to zoom in. I have no idea if this app just doesn't allow you to or if I'm incompetent. regardless, all the features are amazing!

Unbelievably bad compared to FilmicPro. I had high expectations after falling in love with Filmic Pro. They were massively disappointed. This is a terrible app by any standard, and certainly for the company that has designed the app that is gold standard in videography. The executive that gave this project the greenlight should be fired. This dramatically undermines the brand in my opinion. Now I cannot trust whether or not a product that comes from Filmic will be good.

Multi cam. When can we expect to film using multiple camera on the iPhone 11 Pro Max?

Annoying albums. Why oh why does this app need to create a new album every time I take a photo. I don’t want a “Firstlight” album. I never asked for a “Firstlight” album. Just wanted a simple camera app. Not yet another app to crowd up my albums to the point of uselessness. Otherwise great in capture function. Just stop ruining the Albums function please. Make it optional.

Great app! Found bug. This is a great app for what I need it for. Im using an external anamorphic lens and it had the option to de-squeeze the image which is perfect! However... Ive noticed a thin diagonal line after taking the shots. Through the viewfinder I don't see this line but after it saves to my album I can see the same line in every photo. I tried other apps and even the stock camera app and this only happens with this app. I hope the developers see this and come up with a quick fix! All in all the app gives you more control over your camera and the ability to take the perfect shot every time! Perfect for cinematographers looking to take still images! (Developer please read bug)^^

First photo app. I’ve yet to meet a photographer who doesn’t capture their mobile photos on the native camera. This app is changing that. It’s the first photo app I’ve enjoyed. Love it.

Please update for Anamorphic 1.55X Moment Lens!!!. I love this app for shooting B&W photography with the 1.33x Moment lens for awhile now but there’s no option in the settings to change for the 1.55x Anamorphic lens that are now available. Please give us a quick external lens swap button on the main camera page and or in the settings menu. 🙏🙏🙏

Outstanding move. The only thing that stopped me from giving this app a great rating was that it was subscription based. Good on the devs for listening to the people!!

Excellent Camera App. FiLMic Team have done it again. I can now delete several other apps. This is a fully a professional camera system. My backpack just got lighter. The premium subscription is inexpensive when you consider that others charge for new upgrades routinely.

Underwhelming!. I read the most critical reviews that mostly pointed out displeasure with the subscription. Now the app is one-time pay. But it really doesn’t have anything that other free apps such as Google’s Snapseed or substantially lower priced Camera +2 doesn’t give. I expected better control over white balance, more film simulation (compare VSCO). Yes, the developer will come back with the usual “better experience “ line, but I’m sorry, they are just riding the success of their video app to pedal a poorly equipped mediocre camera app.

Now a one time purchase!. Subscriptions for one time coded features are very exploitive so thank you for... seeing the light 😁 Was an instant purchase for me and I'm very happy with the polish and great work you did with the app. It does still crash on occasion (specifically when accessing the shortcut button) but I trust you to continue to support it. Thanks!

So disappointed 😔. When I saw that Filmic made a still photo app I stopped reading the article I was reading immediately and went to go buy it. The camera seems good and simple but I will never use apps that require a subscription unless I have to. I will gladly pay up to $60 for a lifetime purchase but the subscription kills it completely for me. Yea I know that’s “the way of the future” but it’s still disappointing.

Unintuitive, not what I was expecting. I love Filmic Pro for video. Everything about their app makes sense to me, and I regretted only that I couldn’t use it to take stills. Unfortunately, this app is not that. Their interface is unintuitive, and I some how got it locked in a weird high ISO mode where every picture I take is distorted and awful. I’m sure I just don’t know how to use the app, but it doesn’t make sense to me. Would love a filmic pro for stills, though, and would gladly pay $8 for that app.

11ProMax=Grainy Photos. I bought this program based on FilMIC Pro, a great video camera for the 11 Pro Max. I use my phone and gimble for work all the time. This app leaves photos grainy. It also slows the “shutter” speed just enough that anything outside of “extremely steady” shows blur. I checked my settings to make sure everything is how it should be. With no avail I will be deleting this app and just working with either the stock camera and it’s settings or another manual camera app. I would appreciate a refund.

RAW files blurry viewed in App. I really like this app in almost everything except for the fact that when I take photos in RAW (DNG) they look blurry when I review them in the app, however, when I review the same photo in Photos, they look focused and sharp. Maybe it’s just a small bug but annoying to not be able to see the real thing right away while shooting. Everything else is fine.

Last used settings. Last settings isn’t stored. Every launch needs to setup filters again

Zoom in option. I will give 5 stars but the app could be better as the filmic pro video app. One thing that I think is important is the ability to do zoom in and out on the camera. Where is that option?

After Filmic Pro this was a disappointment. I don’t understand how an app provides less functionality and fewer intuitive features than the default Apple camera app on my iPhone 12 Pro. Filmic Pro offers a much better and user friendly video experience so I thought for sure this app would up my photography game on my new phone. I paid $8 for something I literally never use. Huge disappointment.

Love it! Feels like Street Cam. At first I missed the lack of pinch to zoom, but now I’m using firstlight more like a pro street cam. I’d rather not digitally zoom if it can be avoided... better to use the whole sensor and use your feet to zoom. You can always just crop after the fact if you need to and this is all digital zoom is doing anyway. I like the ease of use and the organic looking film simulations. For color images my favs are Chrome Veloura and Koda. For b&w my go to is Bingham, but Salt is nice too. Then noir is also excellent for graphic looks. My own taste doesn’t favor the faded instant film simulations, but I’ve found they are an excellent starting point to edit a nice pastel quality after the fact. Really looking forward to how this app evolves. Highly Recommended!

Interface really needs work.. Nice addition but the interface really lacks. Not a fan of the rounded corners especially since the final photo does not have them nor does your video app. And just like the video app would be nice to have the shutter button top right when shooting landscape, a bit more convenient for one handed use. Also gets annoying that switching lenses takes two taps. So just to see my zoom lens and then go back takes 4 taps! After a while that gets ridiculous. Biggest annoyance is that my iPhone rotation setting reverts my options for exposure and focus gestures. Very bad. That setting should have no effect on a camera app. Settings area could also use a redesign. Independent focus tap would be handy as well since after setting my exposure I cannot refocus without resetting exposure. Can’t quit app without having to swipe up twice. Can’t even swipe to another app on iPhone X.

Anamorphic Disaster. This software is supposed to wok with an anamorphic lens and it does…sometimes. But it has a glitch that changes the settings and you have to check every picture to make sure it isn’t squeezed. So many pictures have to be manually desqueezed. The app is unreliable, unfortunately.

Exposure. App is amazing. I just wish I could change the exposure wasn’t Locked to the shutter speed or ISO.

Subscription ware for NO GOOD REASON. This may be the best camera app in the universe, but I will not pay a subscription that’s unnecessary. I would pay up to $10 for this app, but will NEVER let their hands into my wallet to let them pull out cash whether I use the app or not...

App constantly freezes. In iOS 16 with iPhone 14 the app is constantly freezing and makes it basically unusable. There hasn’t been an update for 7 months. Is this app dead?

Not like Filmic Pro. I read that the Filmic Pro team made a camera app, and I bought it. I should have read more. This app gives you no shutter speed/aperture/ISO control. It doesn’t give you much more than the ios camera app does. Save your money for a real app. I wish I had. Filmic Pro is so great - what happened to this one?!?

Add a Filter-Save function!!. Great app, workflow, etc. Two downsides/feature requests though: 1) ability to set a default filter that is enabled when the app launches would be a huge time saver. 2) many filters feel a bit extreme, kinda longing for the less obtrusive but film-genuine filters from RNI here. But I love the grain effects, UI, and Leopold filter on this and it’s become my go-to shooting app.

Great, but missing bulb mode.. The app seems great so far, offers a lot of features for manual shooting. But shutter onky goes to 1/1. It needs more options for long exposure photography.

Unprofessional. This app is the worst camera app I’ve used on iPhone, and that’s saying a lot. The focus is way off and the fact that it requires a subscription for basic elements that other apps provide is ludicrous. Although the UI is minimalistic, I shall tell my filmmaker and photographer friends to avoid this app unless the above changes.

Almost Perfect. I appreciate the additional control this tool gives over the built in iPhone camera app and its simplicity. However, there are a few important features I feel are missing for which the implementation of would earn my final star: - The lack of a digital zoom. I’m aware pinch can be difficult as per the implementation of the exposure/focus, but even a rotary style dial would be appreciated. - The inability to set the shutter speed longer than 1 second. Even the built in camera app can go for longer with night mode. - No horizontal shooting. It’s annoying that I have to go into my default gallery app to rotate any photos I wished to take horizontally.

Needs one thing. I love the app but needs one thing, Preserve setting. I have to go into the app every time and reset my preferred filter before shooting..

Good but.... I really like the app but being a photographer and wanting to work with the original raw files, there is a few set backs compared to FiLMiC Pro. There is no way to export files out as a original "raw" DNG file. Instead it exports as a JPG+RAW as one file which cannot be edited by a program like capture one. Secondly, I would love to see full manual control to Shutter Speed and ISO not one or the other. Lastly, no white balance control... If all 3 of these issues were addressed in a quick/easy and fast way to access and change without feeling clunky. I would absolutely love the FiLMiC suite of apps!

Auto focus needs work.. The auto focus on iPhone 11 Pro when using the zoom lens is bad. It doesn't change to the tapped region. Attempting the same action with the built in camera is responsive and accurate.

Good form from Filmic. I preordered this app and loved the function but thought it was ridiculous to need a subscription to access the RAW photo options. I’m glad to see the Filmic team has reversed this and found a new profit model. I’m not against companies making a living, but that was a bit much With that said, Firstlight has moved to my goto photo app replacing Halide. Firstlight is really simple to use, I can get shots setup quickly, and the peaking makes sure I’m focused where I want to be.

No Portrait Mode. I wish I'd known that Portrait Mode is not available within this app. It's nice to be able to swipe up/down and left/right for exposure and focus, but the Portrait Mode function appears to be available only in the Apple camera app. So I just paid for an app that I'll never use. Deleting now.

Come on!. How do you guys go from a near-perfect video app to a half-baked photo app that requires a subscription? I might like this app, I would even buy it if it were a flat fee (Halide says hello), but how or why would I try it any further than what it is now. Thanks for the awesome video app, best of luck with this one.

Good, could be better. Some settings are vague, like “burst rate: low, medium, high”? How about the actual numbers4,6,8fps or whatever they are. And anomorphic desqueeze? What’s that? How could it be used? Idk. The UI is great, feels intuitive for the most part, just needs a few tweaks, or maybe even a “pro” version like you have in the filmic pro app for cinematographers... thanks

Don’t buy for serious photography. I like the filmic pro video app but filmic pro firstlight is a stripped down version of the iphone camera app with “filters” and focus peaking. You cannot control white balance, iso and shutter simultaneously, can’t change f stop, etc. I think in their attempt to make a simple interface they made a overly simplistic camera app that is not better than the stock iphone camera app. You can apply film grain, vignettes in post and don’t need a “camera app” to apply them at the time of capture. That is the main feature of this app. It seems harsh but this was a total waste of $8. Please do not make the same mistake.

No support for Filmic Remote.. Got this because I thought I would be able to control the camera and all features from this app like Indo with Filmic Pronand got very disappointed. If I knew it wouldn’t have bought it.😡

Doesn’t support “selected photos” privacy feature. Apple introduced a feature where you could allow an app to just have access to a selected set of photos and not the entire photo library. Firstlight is one of the many apps that still requires access to the entire photo library. I value my privacy and don’t want to give access to the entire photo library, which means Firstlight doesn’t work at all.

Good Controls, Doesn’t All Work. I definitely like the manual controls in this app and keep discovering new things each day (I’ve been using it for about two weeks now). However, I want just the raw .dng files and selecting PROraw only files gives me .HEIC files that my phone says are JPG+raw. I hope this gets fixed.

When is the promised Multi Lens recording going to be included?. It’s been a year now - is the promised Multi-Lens recoding ever going to be included for the iPhone 11 Pro? (Yes I know about DoubleTake- not the same though).

not recommended. Very basic app I only used this app couple of times and I m not recommended this app to anyone.

Best camera app. I have used Filmic for video a fair bit and really like it but have always wanted a camera app that saves either tiff or raw (in this case dng). The quality is outstanding and is easy to send it to a photo editing app.

Useless for a paid app. It supposed more of a professional camera. I am afraid it’s far from it. You put Some very good feature in it but far from fine tuned. For one why do put these extra features in and you have reset all the settings them every time when you restart the app. The setting should be the same as when you shut the app down. You wast time every time you start it up resetting your settings. If it was anywhere near a professional app you would not have to do this. Now for someone like myself that travels a lot and likes my location saved. Why does this app not save gps to raw format? It’s save it in jpeg. I am afraid this app needs a lot work to be done it considering it a paid app.

Image quailty poor. I was looking for a camera app with better focusing than the native iphone camera. Bummer - even images (jpeg & tiff) exposed using a tripod in daylight contain a lot of noise. Iphone camera does a far better job. Not happy - esp given the $12.99 price tag.

Reviewing the reviews.. I would not buy any app where the developer is not consistently responding to reviews. The developer should ask why, when someone says something is wrong. Developers can’t just grab cash and not maintain their apps and their customers. This is another app I will say no to. Thank you.

Frustrating. This is a great app. It is well thought out and very easy to use. If it needs to be a subscription based app then let it happen as I would prefer to subscribe and use an app that is regularly updated (ProRAW, etc) than pay once for an app that stagnates in the past.

No support available. Just purchased this app. Quite happy with initial use. However tried to access and contact support but the website just does not allow a question to be sent. I wanted to enquire if a zoom feature exists to zoom in or out of the subject such as the pinch function in the iPhone camera. Can anyone assist ? Thanks

First light.. Great app but it needs zoom function!!!

Argh, Hate Subscription Model Pricing. App looks promising but then In realised it has a subscription based model for the extra features and I despise them. I have purchased Filmic Pro and it’s extras all with a one off purchase which I am more than happy with and would have done the same easily. I can’t see how you can justify milking your customers for $12.99 pa when there are many free camera apps with many of the features you off as premium. Hope that in the future you change the pricing model

Renewal. Great app but since my subscription ended this month I’ve not been able to renew. Please can you help.

Raw formats are great. It’s easy to use and easy to control settings. I like that I can shoot raw ( dng) and get a good dynamic range in Lightroom. Used it today at Australia Zoo on an IpXS Max with a 58 mm mobile lens. The results were stunning. This is a great app

Free features are great.. Excellent photography app. I really like the free features, it works well for someone like myself. Filmic Pro and this Filmic photography app are fantastic.

The BEST and most underrated photo app EVER. No other app matches the quality of Firstlight’s film emulations and grain. A joy to use for those who appreciate good UX and analogue film emulations. Also thanks for fixing the most annoying issue. Format is now retained between launches.

I’d vote zero if I could. Subscription model that’s all you need to know there are plenty of apps out there that are once of payments that do exactly the same as this app with out the ridiculous subscription model. I am so sick of subscription models on apps now. Your Filmic Pro app is a once off payment why isn’t this?

Subscription app, not for me.... I’m so disappointed. I really enjoy Filmic Pro and I will stop updating it and block notifications to be sure it will never became a subscription app too. So, I chosen Moments Pro app instead for photography... sorry guys but I will boycott every subscription app (unless you give a lot of new content EVERY week, there’s no reason).

2 Red Flags. A very big “NO” to tracking apps. Why does a photo app need to track its users. Looks like dishonest activity to me. A very big “NO” to subscriptions. That is the whole reason I abandoned all Adobe apps. I won’t buy it.

More subscription garbage = NO THANK YOU. Here’s a heads up for you, I purchased Filmic Pro and the Cinema upgrade using one-time purchase gladly, and have been to thrilled with that app and being able to OWN it and not be billed monthly! For an app that really offers NOTHING new over some of the other apps in this genre now available, ones who I can pay one-time for and be done with (Halide), you expect me to pay a MONTHLY FEE for a CAMERA APP??? You guys are out to lunch, and the feedback being left on DPREVIEW about this app reflects that BIGTIME. And do NOT bother responding to this with your canned “Well we wanted to offer it for free to demonstrate” crap response, not interested in copy and paste PR speak.

Almost perfect. Could we get the option to save only ProRaw? Not ProRaw+HEIC? There also seems to be a bug where the regular raw format is saved blurry/pixelated, as if the automatic post processing doesn’t execute or something.

No more subscriptions!! Purchased!!. Thank you soooo much for listening!!! Love everything you’ve been doing and I’m happy to support. Great app! As always!

Ignore the subscription comments, Filmic embraces cash model. Having a decent collection of camera apps, I almost didn’t look at Firstlight by Filmic. I always read the reviews before I download (to pick up on incompatibilities, shortcomings) and was confused by the comments on a subscription model. I messaged Filmic, who replied promptly, advising they’d abandoned the subscription business model, replacing it with a full-version, no in-app purchases model. I’ve been using Filmic Pro for video for several years - all my “serious” stuff is shot with it and, after shifting into the Filmic paradigm, I find it easy and intuitive to use. I’ve just used Firstlight for a few minutes, but already like the Filmic approach and expect it will, shortly, become my default camera app, both for iPhone and iPad Pro. It’s rare that I get an app and really Iike it, right off the bat. If my early images are any indication, Firstlight is going to become and all-time favourite, just like Filmic Pro. I also like the company - attention to detail, quick response to questions, fastidious about maintaining their apps. I rarely give five stars, but compared to the other apps that I really like (Halide, VSCO, Manual, Pure), it’s at least a step or two above and at CDN$11, it’s a bargain.

Animorphic de squeeze - enough said !!!. Animorphic de squeeze - enough said !!!

Subscription? Are you kidding me?. How stupid are companies these days that they think a subscription model for a photo app is a good idea? This is a great way to get your so uninstalled. I supported you with Filmic Pro but this is just ridiculous.

Great photo app from the filmic crews. Love that app and simplicity. Would like it if their was more alignment between filmic pro and first light, Tool/function placement etc. Would it be possible to add a photo output option to device folder? instead of direct to Photos library? Great work

Subscription based, no option to buy. Subscription based? No thank you, I’ll pass

Another App Going Subscription. It’s too bad Filmic is going down the subscription route, people hate that payment model for apps, especially ones they only use occasionally. You can use basic features for free, but you may as well just use the built in camera app. All other features require a subscription. NO THANKS. I sure hope Filmic Pro, their video app, does not turn into a subscription, too, otherwise bye bye to that app s as well.

So much potential!!. Great app with a ton more potential! I have used a lot of photo apps Halide, Camerapro, etc.. and find that I am most attracted to Firstlight however I want more control and options in an elegant multi-sensory interface. I have read reviews and it seems like you are open and wanting positive suggestions. So here are a few. Have the swipe and text follow the perspective, make a picture horizontal, your swipe actions are the same as you use vertical. Make swipe options haptic. actually make ae, ISO, and Shutter actions Haptic. Add real time perspective correction. Add a Fibonacci spiral, golden spiral, grid please. Add A dial with haptic feedback to digitally zoom. This would leave the swipe motions alone. Perhaps located where the album is located currently beside the shutter button? A way to adjust white balance would be useful. Ability to add and remove film overlays post picture taking. Ability to choose save location, partner with Adobe lightroom? Use the full 14-bit RAW data in real time when calculating exposure etc…. I hope you take these suggestions in the light they are given as helpful and not critical. If you need other real life Beta testers I would love to be on that list.

Great love to see this feature in update. This is an exceptionally easy and versatile implementation of the iPhone’s camera. I would love to see user-customizable aspect ratings, or at least the addition of 7:6 and 65:24 Good app & no bugs that I’ve found!

Subscription payment. Not keen on the Adobe-style subscription for features that I can get for free from other apps. Would have paid a one-time purchase as I have for Filmic Pro. Removed the app.

Subscription? No. Will wait for it to be worth it.. I think I’m time this could be a really great app like filmic pro for video. At first look the interface is similar to filmic pro... Right off the bat, accessing anything advanced requires a subscription. The greatest thing about the App Store was that you could pay a one time fee to unlock certain features for apps. I completely understand to sustain any business that there needs to be a steady revenues stream long term. I do believe there are other ways to do that other than the subscription model. I can also appreciate the fact that your subscription model is pretty inexpensive. As a user speaking to the manufacturer, I’m not subscribing. Where’s the value? Where is the roadmap outlining what I’m going to get over and above the “advanced” features? You’re basically looking for a way to sustain your business because you did a great thing by charging the one time fee with filmic. If you want to sustain your revenue stream, integrate a adding LUTs, find a way for photographers to load in their own LUTs, get creative. Subscription no thanks... there are other apps that do infinitely more that are a one time charge.

Won’t Let You Try Without Subscribing. App won’t let you demo anything unless you subscribe to automatically pay once the trial period is complete.

Subscription system, a HUGE THUMBS DOWN. Hate to say it but your package model in FILMIC PRO was very nice, great actually, yet with the subscription model you opted for, this really took a turn for the worst in my opinion and looks like in a lot of your other customers’ opinions! Unless this changes, I will not support or purchase a tier of subscription in the app, and it’s sad because you have a good product... it might not be a crazy expensive subscription but hey things add up REALLY quickly, so yeah big bummer the one time deal payment is out the window now!

You charged me. I have used the trial and cancelled it right away the same day...and now you are charging me!! This is so dishonest!

Not something I am going to pay for. Not sure why this app is not one time pay and that’s it. The App Store is full of other great apps you can pay for one time and that’s it.

Waste of money. Forces you to give all access permissions or will not work at all.

Maybe it’s me.... I just assumed the same quality as Filmic Pro, but the images are soft and the images not even close to Halide and Pro Camera! Maybe I’m not using the right settings but outdoors everything is out of focus, once shot, and the camera reacts in a blurry manner before I press the shutter. JPEG is better but DNG is unusable. Dynamic range is weak. Happy to revisit my assessment if someone can help me figure out the problem. I’m using the latest iPhone 11 Pro Max and watched the tutorial twice to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. I purchased the full annual subscription. Thanks.

Does NOT work on iPhone 14 Pro Max. Using the standard lens locks up the app. Wasted my money on this app.

You went and ruined it. Enjoy the wrath of your loyal customers for treating them like walking wallets.

Hate subscription apps. it's not a service!. This is a good reason to Leave apple. Every second app requires monthly payment.

No manual zoom. Missing manual zoom function. Stuck with apps default lens selections Please add zoom function like Filmic video app

LOVE IT, but I CAN NOT use it.. The way this app has implemented the cross swipe behaviour of adjusting exposure balance and focus in one sweep of a thumb is something that I truly love. However, that works fine for this content to let the camera do all work automatically…but the stock photos app also does the same. Therefore I believe the target audience of this app are those who want more control. I am that audience. So now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I have to say that I feel cheated. Firstly, most people in my category shoot RAW first, NOT JPEG. The stock app already shoots JPEG so there’s no need to pay extra for that. So why, I repeat why, does the app open with JPEG set as the default shooting format…EVEN after we’ve changed it to RAW? This function alone makes it unusable since I can’t tell you how many shots I’ve taken, believing that I was shooting in RAW only to realise that the app rudely threw out my settings and restarted in JPEG. Secondly, when shooting in low light conditions with ISO priority (setting the value to the lowest possible ISO for each lens), the shutter speed seems to top out at 1/3 of a second instead of a full second like other apps. Images would obviously be darker than other apps because the shutter is open for 1/3 less the time of other apps. Thirdly, when shooting under similar conditions with Shutter priority, I can select 1 full second as the shutter speed, but the varying ISO jumps all over the place over exposing and under exposing my image…all while the ambient lighting remains fixed so there is no cause for any of that. Fourthly, unless I’m missing something, I can’t seem to find anywhere to manage white balance. I want to love this app but my main style of shooting involves raw images shot with the absolute lowest possible ISO and this app does not conveniently provide that functionality. I’m going to ask for a refund, but the second these issues are resolved, I’ll be back because I want to love this app.

Subscription model for this kind of app is a bad idea. App itself looks just fine, but there is no reason to pay monthly for the same features other apps can offer

Awesome. Great filters, great app

Great Camera App. Will be my still photo camera App of choice. Familiar interface to Filmic Pro for video. Not all will need the paid subscription; however, I purchased it to thank the developer for providing the free App

Add 35mm support. Add option like in Filmic to use the DOF 35mm adapter so we can use any camera lens.

Needs image flip for DOG adapters. Good otherwise

$8 for raw mode seems excessive. The camera isn't that good to warrant such a premium just for raw mode.

Not working on iPhone 14 Pro. When open on new iPhone 14 Pro only see what camera was pointed at when app starts. Then screen is frozen.

Moment is free. It's just silly that you have to pay for all these features, especially to take .dng photos. Moment takes raw and it's free.

Not competitive with other high-end apps. I needed get my hands on this app to evaluate it because I love Filmic Pro and use it regularly. My history is that of professional still photography with pro DSLR’s and I have been shooting in RAW and using Photoshop since digital photography came onto the market. And, I have been doing the same with mobile phones ever since DNG (RAW) files became an option. I said all this to simply say that I do have a basis for comparison. Now let me get to the point. This app is inviting me to pay for a subscription to get features that have been free for some time from other well known RAW-capable apps. In fact, if I paid the subscription, all it would do is bring this app onto a par with other apps that I already have that already include most all of the features being offered here. But the other apps are either free, or a one-time fee. So where is the incentive to pay for a subscription?

This app is over rated.. This app is not good at all when comparing to Camera pro app. There is no option for 16:9 raw format. Not much manual options to setup to take good pictures. It was a waste of money.

Not worth the hype. Wish you could try out before buying ! Not worth the hype at all !!! The normal iPhone 11 Pro takes better photos then this app! Honestly folks it’s not worth buying.

Was a great app. Now after updating iOS it freezes on the permissions screen.

Missing FiLMiC Remote support. Missing the report support

Garbage app. Greedy developer, crap app. Way to go and screw all your customers and supporters in your quest to further exploit your users via a subscription model. App deleted, will NEVER support your crap company again.

Another subscription app. Deleted

Rocket. So,far works great!

Greedy. Won't miss these developers if they go broke. No more ridiculous subscriptions.

Uhh it’s ok?. Love Filmic Pro. Paid for all the bells and whistles because it’s the best at what it does on mobile. But a premium subscription on a still camera app? No thanks. There are tons of apps that let you take dng or tiff and have filters. Devs, help me out here, what’s the justification for this vs a one time payment for any other camera app?

What happened to you Filmic?. So many bugs on a 14 Pro Max, and the app looks all but abandoned. What happened to you Filmic? You used to make great apps.

Love what the app has to offer, not a fan of the annual subscription. Lots of good things in the app, but I refuse to pay an ongoing subscription. One time payments, or no go for me. I much prefer how the Filmic Pro payment works.

Lost my trust. With Filmic’s pricing changes, I don’t trust this company any more and uninstalled all of their apps. Lots of great photo apps out there.

Subscription?. I love Filmic Pro for shooting video, but this app is just puzzling. I already pay for a Photoshop subscription to edit my pictures. Now a have to pay a subscription to take pictures? Come on, guys. Just charge a flat fee to get all of the features. I’m sticking with the Moment photography app, which does the job and doesn’t involve a subscription.

It’s finally here!. And the wait was well worth it, very easy to use and a lot of pro features absolutely flawless!

The camera interface reinvented!. Having this app for just a short time, it seems like the developers put all the right controls at my fingertips! The subscription is is really affordable and makes sense to keep the development moving forward! ✌️😎👍

Worth a try. It’s great.. Even with the free features it’s great. For me as pro Photographer I can tell that No app in the market but this, can swipe focus that easy and give you the zebras automatically for guidance. I’m not planing to spend a penny for now but definitely it’s gonna be my main photo app. The guys on Filmic are working very hard to make products like this, I think the community needs to be more considerate with them and not to harsh reviewing the app. Good job guys! The app it’s really well made.

Liking this a lot. I had preordered this and it auto installed this morning. Fun app. I’ve been able to dial in some pretty cool shots so far and this may be my new fave. I need to figure out how to use the priority stuff but everything else was super easy to figure out. My better half is a photographer and she was stoked that it has priority modes so maybe she can teAch me. Anyway. Meow!!

A “MUST-DOWNLOAD!!!”. First off, I just want to say, HOLY COW, I love this app! I have been looking for a fully manual camera app for a long time but they are all either really trashy or cost a ton. When I saw that filmic was making a camera app, I preordered right away because their video app is the best I have ever personally used. (Btw, filmic, please keep making more camera apps! I wish you had more that I could download and I was sad that you only have 2 lol) Anyway, the amount that you can do on Firstlight for free is outstanding, and $0.99/month is a fantastic and perfectly fair price to pay for everything included in the premium. Well worth the cost! The quality of this camera over all is wonderful. I compared pictures that I took with this app and identical pictures I took with the iPhone camera app, and the pictures I took using Filmic Firstlight always turned out more crisp, better focused, and more professional looking. They were over all far superior to the default iPhone camera pictures. I was truly amazed. I love this app and have been recommending it to all of my friends. Give it a try! the amount you can do with it for free is enough to be worth your downloading it; but it only gets better if you pay for the premium! I will likely use this as my default camera from now on (it is just that good!) There is only thing I would ask Filmic to consider adding (and I know, the app is brand new and still in its first stages so I’m not being critical at all) but I would love to be able to zoom in to take some pictures. Please consider adding this feature. Over all, this is a “MUST-DOWLOAD” especially if you are into photography. Thank you filmic for making another incredible camera app!

Subscription app. Subscription app should only be for businesses. Why should I pay monthly to use my camera. I’m not making any money from the app. This is what greediness does and I don’t support apps that does this and so should you!

Now useless without buying more. Showing a complete lack of loyalty filmic abandons the users that originally used their apps trying to grab more money

Good. Nice camera app. Premium subscriber, but unable to access anything but the sample filters.

Best experience I’ve had with a free camera app. They really went all our with this application. From the initial start up, a user friendly tutorial modal opens and gives a run through of ‘how to use’ to get the user up and running quick. First impressions are everything with applications. The small details truly show how passionate your company is to provide the best experience for any skill leveled user on a smart phone. I am a super noob when it comes to camera functionality, but your app breaks it down in a way I’ve never seen. It is so easy to just open and play around with. I highly recommend this application to anyone who is looking for a tool to help improve your photos. Did I mention it’s free???? This is crazy! The amount of R&D that went into this and you still offered it they still offered it as a free application!!! They do offer extra functionality at a cost, but it is so worth it. Listen, data scientist and software engineers are not cheap! Someone’s gotta keep the lights on.

Pay always pay. I am sorry guys, is it possible to make fixed price for app? This is subscription model for camera app is terrible.

It's Gucci ♥️. It's really great, easy, beginner UI. A good app to edit and capture photos

Not worth the extra $8. Not worth the extra $8

Really? A subscription for a camera app?. Why would I pay a monthly fee or even a yearly fee to use this app? It isn’t the holy grail of camera apps. If FilmicPro has a subscription fee, I wouldn’t use it either. I would use Mavis Pro or one of the other fine filming apps. Just like I’ll continue to use Halide instead of this app. I just don’t see the value. I’m not saying it’s a bad app. It just isn’t worth a subscription. I would pay a one time fee of perhaps $10 or something equivalent to Filmic Pro, which is a great app by the way.

Other apps out there without a subscription. UPDATE: Checking back on this app to read all the review. Right now it’s showing a rating of 3/5. Im sure that’s not going to well with executives... I’m sorry, but I played with your app and yes, I 100% know there are better more feature rich apps out there that are free, one-time payment and incredibly fast at taking creative photos and sharing. I’m sorry, but I think once you guys got on Apple’s stage, you decided to go with a price model to make money instead of stick with the passion of creating an amazing product. There is nothing in this app that is special/unique enough to charge a subscription. This is a one time purchase type of app. There are so many alternative apps out there with the same features or more. It’s too bad that so many devs/apps are trying to go for this steady income type of model. I’m so happy there is so much competition out there.

Issues. I am unable to save RAW files on my iPhone 11 PRO and Customer Support has been unresponsive for the past two weeks. Very disappointed.

Really?. You created a photo app with nice focus and exposure sliders, saves as jpg. What does this do that other excellent products do better already (Halide). You built in custom looks for the Instagram crowd...very limited range of looks. Nothing special here. Maybe ISO and shutter options will make it stand out...other customization possible?..let’s try it out...nope, can’t even try paid features without sending $$. No trial test period. No full function evaluation possible before paying?! The fee for this app isn’t unreasonable... it just that it is a ’me too’ approach in a product that is far too immature for the price... and a subscription model as well. What does this do that others don’t already do? Guys stick to video apps .. it’s what you do best. Or at least let prospective customers fully evaluate before you try to justify subscription... which is very hard to justify given the limited functionality here.

Really?. Other free apps or one time purchase apps are available and cheaper. Time to get with the free market fellas

Uncompetitive in free version.. Must pay for features other apps include for free. JPEG only in free version? That’s a huge no fir any serious photographer.

Subscription kills the app. I agree with a many of the reviews. The subscription kills this app on arrival. I love Filmic Pro and had high expectations, however the subscription option is just a bit too ridiculous when you compare to something like a long time runner such as the “Moment” App or other NONE- subscription Apps that are extremely powerful.

Subscription. They want a subscription which automatically makes it 1 Star. On top of that it seems like there’s not much control like there is with their non subscription filmic pro app. I don’t even see a raw option. I think the moment app beats this one. One time payment and lots of control

Cash Grabs Abound. Filmic Pro became a cash grab and we got some minor basic updates that still need fixing. We were shown amazing features at WWDC 2019 and still haven’t seen any of them. Now this is released and first thing your learn is that if you want any minor customization you must cross the subscription based pay wall. I can understand one time payments but subscription models for apps are abhorrent. This is basically a more limited version of the iPhone Camera App with fewer features than it even has.

Yes.. This app is amazing. The UI is the best I’ve seen yet for a mobile camera app, the color science is out of this world. The subscription model is clearly there to support the developers in the long run, and the app is worth way more than they charge for it. Plus you really don’t need to pay. These guys make awesome apps and are definitely the leaders in their market.

They got greedy. Filmic pro is amazing and worth owning. This one is subscription only so they can milk money out of you monthly. Sorry but it is not worth the yearly premium for this app. It’s not even close to the quality of their pro video app so they are riding on their reputation there hoping you do not notice. Maybe if they add in a massive amount of features and remove the subscription model I will look again.
