PromptSmart Pro - Teleprompter App Description & Overview

What is promptsmart pro - teleprompter app? PromptSmart is the only “smart” teleprompter app. Our patented VoiceTrack™ speech recognition technology is revolutionary because it provides a robust solution to automatically follow a speaker's voice in real time.

Make your video productions less stressful and more efficient. VoiceTrack™ is a powerful and smart prompting tool that will automatically start and stop at the speaker's natural pace, allowing you to focus on other production values rather than film take after take trying to match a pre-set scroll speed to the speaker's cadence. Save time, energy, and keep your talent focused with PromptSmart.

Other teleprompter apps fall short--relying on clunky hardware or pre-set scrolling speeds. We asked tens of thousands of users what they liked most about our prompter app, and over 90% of respondents said "VoiceTrack," calling it "awesome," "astonishing," "tremendous," “easy to use,” a “game changer”—“absolutely brilliant!!!” Our customers tell our story best and PromptSmart products are the highest rated and most frequently rated teleprompter apps in the App Store.

PromptSmart is also an invaluable tool for anyone that engages in regular public speaking, like clergy, educators, politicians, podcasters, audiobook creators, or business leaders. Our prompter apps are useful as a practice tool or to help keep you on-message at live speaking engagements.

PromptSmart Pro - Teleprompter Comments & Reviews 2026

100% Worth It. I have been using PromptSmart Pro weekly for two years to give sermons at my church. I typically use an iPad, but have also used my iPhone and my MacBook Pro. This software is virtually flawless. It is by far the best speech recognition engine I have tried, it is easy to learn, and it has never let me down before a live audience. I am a good writer, but I have problems with memory when I try to give a speech live. PromptSmart Pro is a lifesaver for me. Every time I forget what I am going to say next, PromptSmart Pro has correctly moved the teleprompter to the correct next line in my sermon. This allows me to speak fluently and flawlessly while focusing my attention on my audience, not on my text. In my past career, I was a VP of Products in the software industry (I led the creation of Rosetta Stone language learnning software), so I know a great product when I see it and use it. PromptSmart Pro is a great product.

The Latest Update Has Issues. The latest update of this application breaks the scrolling feature. For some reason, voice-recognition scrolling stalls about halfway through longer blocks of narration. This is maddening when you are trying to shoot video and are up against a deadline. I had to reset the teleprompter many times and could not get the shoot completed. This led to a lot of lost time and an angry boss who doesn’t get tech and can’t understand why there were delays... :/ Before the update, this application performed very well. It had no trouble scrolling, and was very simple and easy to use. Why couldn’t the developers just leave well enough alone? Bottom line - It seems that after one or at most two minutes of use, the teleprompter stalls and will no longer recognize input. Please fix this ASAP!

Great app. Just bought this app and recorded some things using it. So far it works great. I was surprised at how well it tracked with my voice which isn’t nearly as clear as my wife’s. Even when you go off script it picks back up when you return. I even talked with a weird accent and it understood me. Only disappointment is you can’t use the free remote app with it without paying a monthly fee. I don’t think the remote is necessary. I found it works best with my iPhone 7plus phone turned portrait rather than landscape mode or using the iPad. The bigger the screen the more side-to-side eye movement you can see on camera. So far so good!

PromptSmart Pro Review. PromptSmart Pro is a great app to use!! Personally, I use it for my broadcasting class and it suits all of my needs. I can easily record my audio and video without worrying about remembering or forgetting my script. It includes fun features like changing the color of your script as well as the size of your words. It automatically and reliably transports your videos to your camera roll, so you never have to worry about looking for them or missing any. I have this app on two devices already and I use it quite frequently. Thanks to this app, I can get good grades on my assignments and I never have to worry about looking in all directions for my script while filming. Ultimately, I recommend this app for anyone that frequently films videos or audio clips whether you are an actor/actress, filmmaker, or broadcasting student!!

Just Buy It - Works Like Beast. I used my iPad prompter this week for 5 days straight. I’ve been having connection issues with my former prompting app, Teleprompter 3+. So I gave it one more shot on a Monday. Failed again! I sent a support email to the developer and no response at all. On Tuesday I was shooting the CEO with a long speech. So I scrambled on Monday night looking for a new app that would work. And then...PromptSmart Pro! I usually use a remote app on my iPhone X to advance the script, but this app uses voice recognition to advance the script and IT WORKS! Tested it all night Monday and loaded the scripts for Tuesday. I contacted the developer about the remote app and they responded within a couple hours. Nice! It works fine without the remote app, but for confidence-sake, I’ll be buying the remote app as well. I filmed the CEO on Tuesday and it worked beautifully! Over the course the next 4 days I filmed 37 people using PromptSmart Pro and it worked flawlessly with all types of accents and ethnicities. It only failed twice; once in a room with no soft surfaces, so it was basically in an echo chamber. The other time was a person that was speaking so fast, my human ears could barely understand what she was saying. I asked her to slow down and the app picked her up just fine and worked. I am beyond thrilled with the app and the customer support.

Not that impressed. For its price, I just don’t think this app does that much. Sure it’s scrolls, which is great. But, you cannot successfully import text from outside, text apps, and then expect them to show up in this app successfully. In other words, when you bold text in a word, processing app and import it here, the bold doesn’t show up. When you italicize text in an outside word processing app and import it here, it doesn’t show up. And, the app itself tells you to use its word processing capabilities, which are super limited. You can only change the color of text. You can’t build it, you can’t italicize it, you can’t do anything to it, apparently, but color it. No, as to the voice control scrolling; that is a joke. When we tried it, the script jumped and stalled and would not continue after the first paragraph. And, I could not find a way to change the color of the prompt guide, which insists on being blue. This is a very poorly featured app, and so much could be done to make it great. But perhaps they just don’t care. When I reached out to the company for tech-support, I got a very paltry response, which provided nothing but a link to their help so-called health page, where they tell you that you can’t use outside word processing apps to create scripts and then import them. It’s too bad they don’t disclose all this before you purchase the app itself. Anyway, their help was no help at all. So, even though we spent money on this, we’re going to go shopping for a better app.

What did you do???. I’ve used this app for around 8 years now. I go on today to find all my scripts gone, all my settings removed, not just reset but I mean some were literally removed, as in they no longer exist. For example, fonts! These font options are awful. We’re not designing magazines here, we’re trying to read scripts. What happened to Arial? The biggest issue is the play/pause bar has now been distractingly placed very visibly on the SIDE where it used to be hidden below the glass of our prompters. I’m sure some folks want it that way so it’s more accessible while a device is seated in a prompter, but it is very distracting. At least give us an option where to place it. Love VoiceTrack, understand you guys are trying to make money and all, but please work on these issues!!!

Needs Some Love. For an app with a subscription like this, I would expect a lot of the bugs to be worked out, plus some good QoL updates. As a couple examples: -My app kept crashing. It took me a while to realize that it couldn’t handle a question mark in the title of my script. -Perhaps even more frustrating is that the text very often stops scrolling when using voice tracking. -When creating a script, it asks for a story title, but does not auto select the box or bring up your keyboard. If you click the script box, it will skip naming your script. As far as QoL, settings should save between videos. Every time I open a new script to film, I have to find a text color that shows up over my camera footage. Alternatively, I’d love to see a separate setting for text background color. I can often see myself squinting to read in my footage. Finally, it was not apparent anywhere that this app would not support external mics. It turns out, iPhone often has capability issues between apps and external mics. Guess I should chalk that up to an iOS issue. However, quite frustrating that I had to discover this for myself. I had reached out to customer service who made me feel like I was to blame for the technical difficulties. Then, they ghosted me before I went off to discover this problem on my own. Guess I’d just like to see more transparency since this is in fact an app to help with recording.

This app was much better before they added the subscription. I purchased the pro version of this app before it became a subscription model. I also purchased the remote control app on my phone. After not using it for a year or so, I was surprised to see it had become a subscription based app. Sure, I was peeved that I had already purchased the full-version of an app and now those features were stripped away from me, however, the new app/interface is much less user friendly and extremely buggy. Even though I’m logged in to the same account and on the same Wi-Fi network, the remote refuses to see my iPad Pro. This was NEVER an issue before the large update. I am extremely disappointed in this product and will be unsubscribing for good after this week’s project is complete. I’m sure there are better competitors out there at this time.

Utterly a waste of time.. I purchased this app roughly 3 months ago, and I’ve had nothing but troubles since obtaining it. This application came with a fairly high price, so I thought it might be something worth using. Unfortunately, it has been more trouble than it’s worth. when originally using this, I found that the auto tracking of my voice was frankly worthless. I had to resort to using a timer on my scrolling in order to properly have it keep up with me. I have had other problems with the audio where on my mobile devices including tablets, it routinely does not work. However, switching back to the native application on my mobile devices, my external microphone works perfectly. Not long ago, the application was upgraded. Any time I shut the application down, all my settings disappear. I have given this application a try on both my iPad and multiple iPhones. It’s not worth it. Additionally, when I try to get a hold of Tech Support, they were very unresponsive and refused to take any sort of technical support calls or instant messaging over the Internet. Although I spent 15 or $20 buying this application, it refuses to come off of the trial license. Tech Support is unable to solve this problem for me. Overall, I would not recommend this application to anyone. Big waste of money.

Voice Scrolling is Unreliable. I like the app when it works. Unfortunately I subscribed to it so that I could use my voice to scroll the text. Getting that feature to work consistently is impossible. I’ve tried everything possible. I know it’s hearing me because there is a feature that indicates that it’s hearing my voice. While I heard someone in a video say he thought the inconsistent prompting was due to his accent, I don’t have one. I speak very clearly. I’m thinking that I’ve wasted my money at this point and am now searching for a more reliable app that will scroll with my voice on an iPad. I’m open to suggestions.

Some great, some terrible. I’m new to the app, and love so much about the set-up and functionality. However, I’m finding some aspects so buggy that I can’t recommend it right now. Every time I try to import a script via Google Doc, it either tells me the file can’t convert (direct import) or it spins forever (trying to use the subscription site). There’s no way to delete a script once the file won’t convert, so now I’ve got tons of scripts that are not usable filling up my list. I bought the pro version (subscribed) and I thought that might fix some of these issues, but it hasn’t, and there is nothing on the “file won’t convert” error in Help. So far the only way I can add a script is by manually copying and pasting, which works, but is nowhere near as efficient as I would hope for a $30 app with a monthly subscription. I’m frustrated but willing to stick with it, because when it works, it’s brilliant.

Confusing Update. Update: I figured out the problem based on another review. I clicked on migrate documents and the issue appears to be fixed. It also appears someone has contacted me from support but it won’t load the conversation. Oh well. As long as it works. They should put something on the app to explain this so they stop getting bad reviews. — I’ve used this app for over a year and it was great. Now they’ve updated it and I can’t use it. They switched from a one time purchase to a subscription. It won’t let me into the app to use it. It asks for a login that I never needed before and doesn’t recognize any of my emails. Basically stole my money. I contacted support and they never responded.

The best- despite a few bugs.. It worked great until I upgraded to the subscription service. Then I started having all kinds of problems. At that point I gave it a one-star review. However, the company has been GREAT about communicating with me. I have found reasonable work-arounds for my main issues, and I have the impression that they are honestly working to correct the remaining bugs. When this thing works it is absolutely amazing. I have tried all the teleprompter apps I can find, and this one is hand-down the best- even with the bugs that remain. I am looking forward to upgrading to a five-star review when they fix my remaining issues. Update- I have been using this for several months. They have still not improved the editing feature (it is very buggie). I payed for the extended version because I wanted the script assist feature which is supposed to allow you to place cues within and have the script skip over these when reading. If this feature is enabled it causes many issues like randomly jumping to the top of the page. The extended version is just not worth it for my money. Still, it is the best teleprompter app out there. Update- They fixed everything. Five stars! I am so happy with it now!!!!!

Voice tracking fails. Many reviewers note the voice tracking feature (which is really the only thing that sets this apart from other, more buttoned-up prompter apps) is inconsistent. I’d say it just doesn’t work. We’ve tried it in numerous settings with and without plugged-in mics and we have yet to get it not to crash during a 4-6 minute session. I won’t speculate on why, but will note these issues have been identified by reviewers since 2018 and in mid-2020, the signature feature does not work well enough to be useful. In addition, in selfie mode, there’s really no control over the camera nor background (as most other good prompter apps provide) making it hard to guarantee you’ve got a good shot.

Stunning. I paid for the pro version and have been using it to film videos for six months. Go in today to record my next batch and the app has been stripped of usefulness. Now I’m being held hostage to pay monthly to get what I already paid for? Terrible, terrible business practice. The app was decent, and generally met my needs. But it’s a $10 app at best. No reason to be a subscription model. And not worth $40. Huge mistake. Updated: I was eventually able to restore functionality via “Restore purchases” which hadn’t worked the first time. So. The app is working as before, though I did have to re do all of the settings (text style, mirroring, etc). I still think the app is overpriced at $35, and a subscription model seems silly for this product, but the app works pretty well for my purposes.

I absolutely love this app for creating voiceovers. I have been using this app for about four years now, and absolutely love almost everything about it. I have used it both on my iPad and my newer MacBook (I think the M-series processors allow you to run iOS apps?). I have a professional microphone system that I plug into my iPad via USB-C, and I load my scripts into the app. What I love most is that it’s not a constant speed…it’s actually listening to your voice and moving the text at whatever speed you’re speaking. So if you slow down, or have to re-record a section, it pauses and lets you catch up. I also love that I can have scripts saved to the cloud, because I work between two iPads and my MacBook. My only minor complaint is that it makes me log in occasionally…but it doesn’t say “log in,” it shows you the plans and it acts like you’re signing up again, even though you’ve paid. But it does not charge you again. You’re essentially re-activating the app. This app is indispensable to my voiceover work!

Great idea, horrible execution.. Some things to be aware of with this app. 1. Yes the voice tracking technology of this is a fantastic function 2. In selfie mode the camera will not allow you to accurately adjust for exposure. Unlike the native camera app where you can tap AND hold to lock exposure, this app only allows you to tap for exposure. This means if you tap the screen to adjust exposure and your talent moves your light can change ruining a perfectly good take. 3. In Selfie mode you cannot see the whole frame of your image. It cuts it off only showing the middle section of your image. The can lead you to not see any lighting problems if you don’t use the native camera app to see the whole frame before you use this app to confirm quality of the image. 4. The voice tracking jumps to different sections out of nowhere on occasion, this can ruin perfectly good takes. 5. Editing scripts on this app is a pain. It’s clunky and not very well thought out. Overall it’s a great concept but the execution of this app has some serious issues. I’ve used this for many shoots since February and I’m switching back to my old app. It’s just not ready for prime time.

Great app, until it isn’t.... I have used this app for years. I have a recording studio in my backyard where I record video and audio in an isolated environment with high end audio equipment. The promise of the VoiceTrack feature is really the headline feature on this app. But today is the last straw for me. I have spent so many hours in frustration with this app. It widens the line between failure and amazement. When it works, I love it—as other reviewers have said. When it doesn’t work, which is often, I want to throw my phone out the window. I don’t want to email support. I don’t want to tweet at them. I want the app to deliver on its promise. I paid for it, and it almost lives up to its marketing. But that “almost” is so painful. I thought I could solve the voice tracking problem with the remote app, but that’s another $2/month. Sounds cheap, but I don’t want to give this company money to fix a feature that disappoints me to no end. I have had people in my studio to film them using this app and I end up having to use my finger to move the script along. What’s the point? It is rare that I write an app review. But here I am. Frustrated to no end at myself for believing this app was better than it is. In the end, I’m the idiot.

So far so good!. And you can’t always say that right! The ‘Main Reason’ I purchased this was for the voice recognition. I’m a one man show with a TelePrompTer and don’t want to seen on camera with a remote! I will say (and Promtsmart says this in their description), when you get more than a few feet away you’ll have issues. In. Y case, with a very quiet studio...anything over about 5ft. and the VR started to not function with every word. My solution (because I plan to be 6~8 ft from my camera), was to purchase a mic that would connect directly to my iPad. The Boya DM 1 Digital Lavalier did the trick...and now the VR works flawlessly from 20ft!

Great app, just one request. In pre-pandemic days a prompter operator could match the talent’s speed and adjust for ad-libs, dramatic pauses, etc. That’s not an option anymore in the self-recording era. The VoiceTrack feature works really well to allow speakers to present at a comfortable (and sometimes changing) pace. The update to show full width video in selfie mode removes confusion about framing the shot which is a plus. But PLEASE make the shaded half of the screen behind the script a bit denser. The script needs to contrast with the background in order to be clear and easy to read. High marks for this app and I continue to recommend it. I’d just like to see this one tweak to the on-screen script area. Thanks!

Unpredictable Behavior. The idea of this is great, but the execution is inconsistent. After trying out the free version, and being impressed with its ability to flow with your speech, I went ahead and paid for it. Unfortunately, as I got to using it more, it has proven to work inconsistently. The main issue is that the app doesn’t actually always follow your speaking. It will go along for awhile working flawlessly, then it will just stop and not scroll anymore. Sometimes I can get it scrolling again by going back and re-reading the last paragraph. Other times, I have to stop it completely and start again. The most common problem is having it stop while I’m reading, but it also sometimes will be moving along perfectly, and then just skip ahead a couple of pages. Both of these are really frustrating. Yes, I can stop and restart from the previous paragraph, but I hate that about 75% of the times I have to stop and restart, it is because the teleprompter messed up. The other 25% are my own mistakes, but it would be nice if I only had to reshoot 25% of what I do now. I took note that the sound can make it unreliable, but I plug a shotgun mic into my iPad Pro to be sure it can hear. It’s really impressive that it can do this auto scrolling thing at all, so I am impressed. However, it just messes up, too much. I hope it improves, because I really need it.

It works-amazing customer service. I initially could not get the app to work and was quite frustrated with the app. I reached out to customer service and they replied the next day. Evidently, one must hit play to go to TelePrompTer mode and hit play again to get it to start. It did work fairly well. It did get glitchy in parts but it may just be me not familiar with the technology. Overall, it is a very good app and I would recommend. After fixing the initial issue via email. I was still having glitch issues with app. The developer called me on a scheduled appointment and walk me thru some changes to fix the stalling issue and indicated I can him if there any other questions or concerns. I am very pleased with product thus far.

Voice Control Not A Great Experience. I was really excited about this app because I do a lot of promotional video productions that requires the use of a TelePrompTer. The voice command feature I thought would be the answer to my needs. I spent most of my night after downloading the app to use on my new iPad Pro 11”, working to see what distance works best using the voice. I settled for 2 to 3 ft. From the camera which seem like from my test at home worked perfect. I just knew I would impress my client using this new app, boy was I wrong. Once I got on set the next morning using a room about half the size I was testing in, more than enough volume coming from the speakers voice, the app would begin to follow her voice for about two sentences and then stopped. I tried resetting the app, and deleting and adding the script but still it freezes after the second sentence. I assume it might be her voice so I tried my voice and it stopped after some point with me as well, so we had to go with the automatic scroll which worked great. I think instead of charging extra for the additional features, I think you need to put more focus in improving the voice feature. Can’t understand why you charge additional for features and the voice feature is unpredictable. Overall I think this has the potential to be a great app, but the voice feature is what makes it so appealing, I could have bought any app for much less if I wanted to auto scroll. Don’t get me wrong, When it works, it works great, but I don’t need to spend most of my setup time trying to get the voice feature to consistently follow my clients voice. I would highly recommend this app because it’s a great app, but don’t buy it for the voice feature alone, unless you’re plugging your audio source directly into the iPad which I did with an older iPad with a cable. That seem to follow voice ok. But I don’t need to use more cables. I look forward to the improvements.

Use this if you want to look like a fool with clients. HOT GARBAGE! Wow, what could be worse than struggling with a prompter app which has such an amazing promise of features and fails to horribly right when you need it. I tried WiFi and tried tethering to my phone- sometimes will connect but 90% of the time, it just spins or gives an error when trying to connect the remote app. Worse, there’s an ‘edit’ window where you can make changes to the script in the moment. EXCEPT, it takes 1 character input then jumps somewhere else in your script - where, WHO KKOWS?? - but you’ll keep typing with nothing showing up where you placed the cursor. Next, let’s go on a scavenger hunt to see where on the script your cursor was teleported without your knowledge and messing up THAT part. Really, who made this app? Is anyone testing it??

A liability more than a help. Once useful, but now plagued with showstopping bugs. First, good luck trying to get it to honor the font settings in its settings menu. Didn’t want a screen of black text on a black background? Too bad. Second, at the end of playback, if you don’t catch it in time, it completely blanks the iPad screen, in a way that even the remote won’t let you reset, forcing me to walk all the way over to the prompter to restart it each time. Third, it’s guaranteed to force you to log in again at the very most inconvenient time. I’ve really had it with this thing. The subscription is way too pricey for an unusable app. I used to go along with it for the sake of the voice-follow feature, but it’s got way more expensive and way less usable since then. I’m out.

Worked great as a single purchase app.. I purchased this app. Had some great features although some of the fancier feature were spotty. But for the money, one of the best. Paid $10 maybe $20 bucks. I can see the value in that. However, even with advanced features who is buying this as a subscription model? What? It’s a teleprompter not a Nissan Armada. True, you could upgrade or improve something as time goes by but for the annual prices you’re charging? Better come with a TED Talk presenter for that kind of annual enrollment. Bake the cake, sell the cake. If I want your new and improve formula in the future I’ll come back and purchase another cake. I’m just saying.

THEY NEED AN UPDATE ASAP. The fact that you have to keep the app open for the video to save is HORRIBLE. I can’t tell you how many great takes I’ve done, just to have a 10 minute take gone forever simply because my phone timed out or I accidentally clicked on the notification that the video is saving. I could go into greater detail on all the little ways your fingers can accidentally bump you out of the app and then your entire video is gone but i won’t. The developers need to update this where it’s saving in the background even if you leave the app for a minute, as long as you don’t hard close out of it by swiping it to hard close. Get it together guys. Until this is fixed, this TV Host will NOT recommend this to any of her colleagues.

My original review disappeared.. I run in this app on a gen 5 iPad. I bought this app wholly based on the voice tracking feature. I’d seen several reviews where people praised it as fantastic, worked great. And now looking on here I see many reviews saying the same. They’re all old reviews though. Something the developed changed along the way has made voice tracking work very poorly. I recently tried, again, using the newest update (v2.0.4) and, while its a little better, using is is STILL little more than an exercise in frustration because it will either jump well ahead of where I am in my script or simply stop tracking and scrolling at all, at which point I have to manually scroll to where I am, which seems to kinda ‘unstick’ it for a little while. Another behavior is I will get to the end of what’s visible, it wont scroll so I have to either manually scroll it or hope I remember what’s next, then all of a sudden it’ll catch up. Prior to the latest update I tested the app using a known good Lav mic with much the same results. That said, I use a mic to record my audio into a digital recorded. I have no interest in running an additional mic for a promoter that should hear my voice as it’s in a quiet room with very little echo. Seriously - whatever the developer changed that has screwed up voice tracking has made the app pretty much useless. I’m tired of waiting for a fix and am about to look for a different Teleprompter app and request a refund from Apple. This is ridiculous.

A bit of a scam I believe. I don’t often write reviews but I feel it’s necessary given weakness of this app. The voice tracker is the distinguishing feature of this app, how they draw you in to charge you $20 dollars. But it’s crap. It jumps and skips as you read, your eyes are not able to follow along with a screen that’s constantly jumping and skipping down the page. It’s like trying to read from a card being held up by a guy randomly moving it as you read. So we switch off the voice tracker. But even during the auto scroll it will pause and skip. Why??? It’s on auto scroll. How hard is it to program the text to just scroll at a consistent rate. Seems like it would be the most simple feature for any software programmer to get right. Until they fix these issues I think they are just trying to con you for $20.

What a waste of money. I bought this today because I had a video I needed to record for a work project. First, the Voice Track feature (where it listens to you and scrolls at the appropriate rate) simply wasn’t working. It kept getting caught up. I have no accent and I speak very clearly. There’s no reason for this. So, I went with the timed scroll instead. You’re able to set the scroll speed, but it’s a little inconvenient because you can’t pause or maybe go off on a tangent. Then, once I was finished I noticed that the Video isn’t AVAILABLE. Contacted customer service, which is a chat btw, and where they took over thirty minutes to respond to my chat. They informed me that there’s a problem with the video at the moment. My project is for tomorrow, so I can’t wait for the developers to fix this. I want my money back, as this was absolutely useless.

no there yet.... Works wonderfully when it works... but there are some desparately needed improvements. #1 At the end of a script, skipping to the beginning brings you to the beginning of the text, but the recognition software doesn't seem to work so well after you've done that so you really have to exit the prompter and restart it to have the voice recognition work. #2 The back button to exit the prompter is just way too small. I have tried using it in a small iPhone teleprompter case, and the button is so unresponsive that you have to remove the iphone from the case everytime to address the problems of my first prompt. #3 Clearly the voice recognition gets confused at times and loses sync with what you're saying, there really needs to be either a) word highlighting that lets you know where the app thinks it is in your script, so that if the app gets stuck you know where to read from in order to get it on track again #4 better import filtering... the app turns apostrophes into garbage. If it can't represent apostrophes properly it should at least have the smarts to turn them into a right single quote. #5 more import options. i don't want to use drop box or any of the other options... let me accept imports from files on my iCloud drive. I love the concept of this app... but it's annoying rough edges make it unusable.

Buyer Beware. I bought this app years ago, and I had dozens of presentations stored on it. I bought the app before it offered subscription options. The files were saved in the app on my device. These were presentations I wrote and delivered. My intellectual property. I loved the app and used it regularly. I had no reason on earth to think the data I was inputting into it would ever be lost. Only a month or two ago, I got a new iPad and the files did not migrate over to the app on the new iPad. So I told myself to make sure to figure out how to export or download those old files so I could save them before getting rid of the old iPad — or to figure out how to migrate the old files over to the new iPad, which one would assume would be a cinch. So here we are at holiday time and I have a little extra time to put into this. Went to the old iPad — and wow. The new version of this app had been updated on the old iPad too, and ALL MY DATA WAS GONE. I have been writing the developer all morning, and there is apparently no way to get the data back. Why? Because the app has been updated, and the files never migrated to the new version. Why? I have no idea. They can’t explain it to me. They just say, “Apologies.” Honestly. I am shocked and heartbroken. I will never use this app again — ever. If you do, and if you care about your content, make sure to have another copy of it somewhere. That’s a basic tech habit, I know, but my iPad saves to the Cloud, and why on earth should anyone think that an app update would just ZAP your content?? I loved this app. I will never trust this developer again.

I want to love it. I almost do.. This app is incredible. Voice track works great and is an integral part of my work. A few bugs prevent me from giving it 5 stars. The main one is constantly getting logged out. It’s frustrating getting out to the field to record only to see that I’ve been logged out again (I use desktop syncing). Please give us the option to make the log out time longer at the least. In addition, being able to have “stories” within a script is really nice, but I would like to be able to jump straight into a story from its page, rather than having to start the script, then scroll over to it. (I sometimes have 5-8 stories in a script) With those features I would absolutely be able to give this 5 stars and recommend it to all the creators I know!

Several issues make it unusable. The voice recognition only works if you are standing very close to the device. So, because I wanted a more zoomed out view of yourself on camera (waist up), the voice recognition did not work. This app is also not compatible with any Bluetooth presentation remotes. The only remote you can use is a phone with their downloaded app, which you have to pay separately for. I do not want to hold my phone in my videos because that appears unprofessional and unsightly, so I cannot control the scroll speed at all. I decided to switch to the TELEPROMPTER PREMIUM app because it is much more user friendly and can be controlled with a Bluetooth handheld or food pedal remote. I would not recommend this app to anyone unless you want to record something for social media with a script and only show your face.

Do not buy. Man I really wanted to love this app but it just doesn’t work. If you are planning on using it without the voice control I guess it’s fine but the reason I spent all this money was because of the voice control. There are lots of free apps out there that do manual scroll options for free . The voice control just moves erratically to whatever position it wants. You could be reading the very first line of your script and the app just jumps to the last paragraph with no reason. They have a single line option vs multiple line options where it can move line by line or multiple lines at times but it does the same thing no matter what. It’s impossible to read a script the way you intended when the app has its own mind. I also tried to connect a microphone to the tablet to get better audio to see if the app can understand better what I was saying ,but it does the same thing every time. There is no way of moving smoothly from line to line . It’s a waste of money. Get one of those free teleprompter app and save your hard earn money

Voice System is buggy. This app shows promise. We really like it's layout and features. But the one critical component, voice recognition, is very buggy. We've been working on it for few weeks, following the tips, re-formatting our documents, and checking our microphones. We are in a very quiet room with a very good speaker and a clear microphone and at random times the prompt will just scroll about a page or 2 leaving the speaker unable to continue. It happens at random areas too, meaning on take one it might do a random scroll in the middle, on take two it might do a random scroll near the beginning and take three might have a random scroll near the end. Maybe in the future they can clear this scrolling issue. We have found another teleprompt software that is more stable. Thanks anyway and good luck!

unreliable and inconsistent = unusable. Since this app only at best sometimes tracks along as you speak, it is useless. I am using it in a stable, dead silent environment to record and it only tracks along for maybe a few segments then locks up. Then trying to get back to where I left off is impossible. I’ve used it a few times with a few minor issue. But at other times it completely ruins my planned session. Since it is unreliable and inconsistent, to me, in a professional setting where I paid for the app, it is therefore unusable. I have messed with it a lot and discovered there is a subscription based remote control. A remote would make this work (if it is reliable, and based on my experience thus far, I’d personally not bet on it) but I’m so frustrated with this I’m not inclined to give them subscription money for sure.

Game Changer and Much Improved. First let me say that I rarely give reviews unless something is noteworthy, helpful and has exceptional value. I had cancelled my subscription previously and didn't bother leaving a negative review because I intuitively knew that there were major issues that needed to be fixed and figured that they would be fixed. Kudos to the developers at Prompt Smart Pro as they have greatly improved everything I was having major issues with. I did try other teleprompter apps but none of them had the ability to scroll the text as you speak. There were also other very minor things like how time consuming it was to try to import a script from other apps like Google Drive. Again, these were minor issues compared to some of the other things. I had kept the app on my ipad just because I wanted to have something to practice with and it was a very nominal monthly fee. After a busy year of traveling and taking a short hiatus from my content creation, I was deciding what apps to keep and what to delete. I'm happy to say that I not only kept Prompt Smart Pro, but I added it to my iphone as well. I always recommend to try the monthly version first to see if it's going to work well enough to keep, then upgrade if it's working well. I am looking forward to my new content being very good because of the great tools I'm using. I would highly recommend this app for anyone who wants or needs to deliver a high quality presentation, video or speech in any venue.

Avoid this app- unreliable for live broadcasts as it crashes frequently. I am shocked at how unreliable this app is considering it’s relatively high price compared to other prompter apps. Out of the 5 live broadcasts I’ve used this with over the last two months, 3 times it has either lost the remote connection in the middle of the broadcast or completely crashed! Yesterday it crashed every time I hit “start” on the promoter, I retried anxiously several times as I was going live in minutes, I even restarted the phone and it still crashed every time I hit start! I have up-to-date software, the latest iOS version, an iPhone 8 and XR..this is unacceptable. When it works, it is great. The voice tracking is very accurate. However, if it only works 40% of the time without serious problems, it’s worthless. I am a few days out of the return window and have been trying to get a refund, but so far they haven’t responded. Extremely unhappy with this purchase.

JUST GET IT!. Wow! I am so impressed by this app. I’m a total newbie to filming videos and using this app gave me the ability to record myself in record time and appear much more competent and confident on camera. I had previously tried to memorize my scripts and it took hours of work, not to mention all of the extra time and effort it took just to get the right shot and then edit all of my ums and other filler words out of the final video. I’d also tried other teleprompter apps before and the speed thing was such an issue. I just couldn’t get it to work for me. It felt so forced. Now this app has completely changed all of that for me! The voice recognition feature is an absolute game changer. All of a sudden I am able to record videos in a few minutes instead of what felt like an eternity. This is something that seemed so far from reach for me before and all of a sudden it’s a possibility thanks to this app. Now that I use this app I actually enjoy turning on my camera and recording my videos. I use my noise cancelling lapel mic and connect it to my phone using the adapter and it works really well. Honestly this app is such a valuable tool and the best $20 I could have spent for my video production. If you are on the fence about trying it out I’d say, try out the free version to test out that the voice recognition works well with you and your microphone and if so then go ahead and get it. Just make sure that you are using a microphone that is actually connected to the phone (NO Bluetooth), speak clearly, avoid having too many background sounds and you are golden. Seriously tho, my parents where vacuuming and my neighbors dog started barking very loudly during my first test and it still worked great so I guess it’s kind of resilient in that sense. Thank you so much to the developers and the team that created this! I am super grateful! 😀🙌🙌🙌

Important to know: Does not work with Bluetooth microphone (including AirPods). I have mixed feelings for this product because I have used it successfully for some presentations. For many venues, the VoiceTrack feature will not work well when delivering a speech live. However if you are creating a video at home, it seems to do okay and you can do multiple takes if there is a problem. The lack of ability to use this with a bluetooth microphone including AirPods makes PromptSmart less useful to me. If you need all the features that PromptSmart offers and have a professional setup, this may be a good product for you. If you really just want a simple way to import text and roll on screen at a preset speed, I think there may be more user friendly and cheaper options available.

Constantly disappointed by this app. I’ve been using this app for a few years alongside a handful of others (TelePrompt+ 3). This app just can’t seem to get it right. First, importing files (even .rtf or other basic OSX formats) import with metadata, making the scripts unusable without HOURS of editing. It’s ridiculous. Not sure how an iPad app doesn’t natively support .rtf files for Christ’s sake. Yes the voice system is buggy as others have said, but worse is the fact that services like Dropbox and Drive also ban the application from time-to-time, making it impossible to import. Not sure why this is happening, but perhaps the dev didn’t follow the TOS from Dropbox and other services. Amateur hour. I really wanted this to work, but it just isn’t pro-grade as advertised. Not at all.

Nice, good, but falls well short of advertised. If you are looking for a good basic teleprompter, this fits the bill. I like its words over minute speed adjustment. But if you are looking for voice tracking, this falls far short of reliable. Maybe it works on short, under five minute scripts. I tried a 27 minute script and it was impossible to use the voice track. For example, if you repeat a phrase or point within a few paragraphs of where you are speaking it often doesn’t recognize the first one where you are actually at and will skip forward to the next one. The voice tracking works better, but still skips forward all too often, in a room with lots of sound deadening. But in a room with wood floors and windows, it freezes up like it can’t understand you. The instructions say stay within 5 feet of the iPad to get better voice tracking. I was within 4 feet in a wood floor room and it was extraordinarily glitchy. So I hooked a Bluetooth mic to the iPad and it wouldn’t recognize that at all. I am on iOS 13.3.1 on a 6th Gen iPad with lots of free memory. If I were buying this for a standard set the speed and go teleprompter, then I would give it a 4 star. Good, not great. But I bought it for the voice track so I could save time in production and it miserably fails in that regard.

Big Letdown. I really wanted to like this app. However if you’re looking to use the voice tracking feature be prepared for it to stop be prepared to have to manually scroll be prepared for the unpredictability of this feature. It didn’t happen during the trial phase but shortly after I made the purchase nothing but problems. The voice tracking would be a great feature if it actually worked it stops and starts and appears to have a mind of its own totally useless but now I’m stuck with the yearly subscription but definitely will not be renewing. The developer did reach out however made me feel as though it was something that was an error on my end but clearly this is a common problem with this app when it comes to the voice tracking feature . And it clearly dates back and does not seem to be something that PromptSmart is able to correct. If you are looking for a true voice activated scrolling with this Teleprompter app I would say look elsewhere as it is nonexistent with this application.

Disappointed. I hardly ever buy apps but my dad convinced me to by this one, he said it helped so much with his speeches. And kept his place way better than a handful of note cards. So I tried it out for my best friends wedding and my brothers. I absolutely loved it. It was so easy to follow, it helped with my timing and I never lost my spot. I got in about two years later to write another speech for my other brother. And I saw that it said I have no media yet! I freaked out because my other two speeches were gone. I had no back up copies because I thought they would be saved in here indefinitely since I bought the app and didn’t just sign up for the trial. I’m so disappointed I no longer have those speeches to look back on. Be careful and if you decided to use the app it works just make sure to download your content or save it somewhere else. Hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else. I won’t be recommending this app no any of my friends moving forward.

When it works, it’s great.... ...when it doesn’t, it’s frustrating. If you’re thinking about using this on something where time and quality are important, you may want to wait until the app works reliably and or the bugs are worked out. I’ve been using this for over a year and this latest version is definitely better, but I just recorded a bunch of clips in selfie mode on my iPhone and it seems audio was only recorded on about half the clips. Also the app doesn’t recognize external microphones (although the previous version did). To the programmers: please realize that your users are probably using this for at least quasi-professional presentations. If your development resources don’t permit you to beta test and address bugs quickly, you should remove the “pro” part of your name. The app is sooo close to being great. I hope you take the steps needed to service your market properly. Thanks!

Perfect for me. I’m editing together a sort of retrospective of my past work right now - and while I’ve done plenty of voiceover on projects as needed, I’m not usually on camera for it. Because of the nature of this particular piece I needed to make the jump to staying on script even when engaging the camera. While others have complained about how various file types are supported or whether it could follow their voice, I did not have these problems. It followed me perfectly, even when I would stumble and go back to re-read a couple lines. Just perfect! It’s going to be in my toolbox for the long haul.

Weekly user. It’s… ugh. Fine.. Does what I need, but the price is so aggravating for the glitches I face. Super expensive for what it is. I had a 3* and just switched to 2* What’s GOOD: It follows my voice. That is why I bought the app. What’s BAD: 1) subscriptions. Hate renewing. Hate the price. 2) formatting. A) Sometimes I wish the words went bigger than size 10 so I could view when recording from farther back B) copy/paste often includes black text, but not always. Not until I get into recording the script does it just disappear my text. (Dark text on dark background instead of white text on dark background.) C) not easy to import. Formatting is whacky D) I eventually just CLEAR the formatting which removes key words I wanted to emphasize with bold, etc. E) still no clue why there are so many title fields. The layers of scripts are so weird. No clue why it’s laid out like it is. 3) login. Never saves login. Have to log in every time. Not the highest security risk platform. People can get my scripts, it’s fine. I hate logging in every single time. And it always puts the login page behind a couple of clicks. Overall not a fan. If I find something better, I’m out.

Meh, at best. I don’t know why the developers chose to place the controls at the top when you mirror the iPad. On a real Teleprompter just makes it extremely difficult to operate the program. It would be really nice if they were an option to place the controls at the bottom of the screen when it is mirrored or at least have the option of where you want the controls. This is even worse on iOS 15 because it makes the play/stop button (that you have to hit a second time to start) sit right on top of the split screen menu, which takes priority over the button. Getting the “smart“ voice tracking to work is kind of hit or miss, although it is functioning most of the time. Unfortunately when it doesn’t work I have to pull the iPad out because the controls are so hard to get to which makes the program frustrating which translates into bad recordings.

Need to subscribe to remote control. Pretty disappointed to buy the pro app, only to discover that if you want to use your iPhone as a remote control they require you to "subscribe" for $3 a month. Money wasted on this purchase.

Stopped working. The latest update didn’t fix it. Voice scrolling no longer works and auto scroll doesn’t change speeds. This used to be an essential app at work, but now we can’t use it

Brilliant!. I tired out a few other TelePrompter apps before ending up with this one. It just works. Simple and effective. The fact that it scrolls with my voice means no clicking or trying to control the TelePrompTer with a remote or other app. It works fine in both portrait and landscape mode. This has revolutionised the way I work when recording video workshops. Really glad I bought it.

Works well. Great app. Just needs a timer to view. I like the voice recognition.

Voice track just stops working. Voice track is abysmal on this app.

Good app but a countdown clock would make it better. Overall a good app - the voice activation is really neat but if the camera is further than 1.5 meters away then it doesn’t work. The scroll function works fine - the only thing missing is a countdown clock as the script starts at the top instead. The only annoying this is having to pay a monthly subscription to use a linked phone as a controller. Seems like an unnecessary money grab that they could have instead included as a one off in the over all price.

Could be great if.... I purchased this app thinking it would work well but its lack of refinement has caused a lot of frustration and wasted time. The challenges I faced are: 1. Voice scroll worked properly in portrait mode - it scrolls less responsively and under the blue indicator. Whereas when rotated to landscape it works great. Very frustrating for social media content creation being in portrait. 2. Clunky user interface that has limited capacity to change text properties. Such as being limited to one font type and only a blue background option for the text guide. 3. Selfie mode is difficult to see full screen video in correct crop with overplayed text. I hope the developer makes the effort to improve and refine this app. I recommend to hire a good UI/UX designer too. It would likely sell a lot more if these basic issues are resolved!

App crashing on iPhone 16 pro. I’ve been using this app for a very long time and have always been happy with its performance. Unfortunately, after installing it on my new iPhone 16 Pro, I’ve started experiencing frequent crashes, which have been extremely frustrating. The most upsetting issue happened recently when I recorded a 30-minute session, only for the app to crash under pressure and fail to save any of the recording. Losing important work like this is not just inconvenient—it makes me hesitant to rely on the app for critical tasks. Issues I’ve encountered: - The app freezes and crashes unexpectedly, especially during longer recording sessions. - It seems poorly optimized for the iPhone 16 Pro, as I never had these problems on my previous device. - There’s no auto-recovery or backup feature for unsaved recordings, which makes data loss even worse. Suggestions for improvement: 1. Fix stability issues and optimize the app for the latest iOS and iPhone hardware. 2. Add an auto-save or crash recovery feature to prevent losing recordings. 3. Improve error handling so the app warns users before crashing under heavy load. I really hope this can be fixed soon because I don’t want to switch to another app. Please let me know if there’s a beta version or an upcoming update that addresses these problems. I’d appreciate any updates on this issue. Thank you for your time.

Do not use. The voice recognition scrolling does not work at all, the app is a scam.

Great idea - if only it worked. Tried everything I can see but the voice activation is very unreliable. Just keeps stopping. Astonishingly poor customer service. Requested a refund and received no response whatsoever from the developers. And of course Apple just wipes their hands of it and points you to the developer ie the one who won’t respond.

Cannot record video and audio simultaneously?. Seriously? What use is a mute video of someone reading a script? And why would you need a teleprompter to just record audio? Very unsatisfied, definitely not worth thirty bucks when it is NOT actually a teleprompter. Will not “transform your video production” as it can’t perform the basic task of recording video and audio at the same time. I thought this might have been a game changer, but I guess I’ll stick with other apps that can record videos with sound.

Voice track stops it from being useful. Paid for the pro version and the app is amazing, everything about it is amazing... except that the voice track now doesn’t work at all which makes the entire app completely useless for a TelePrompter

The Prompter Stops Mid Script and doesn’t restart!. Highly frustrating when you are on a roll. Disappointing and frustrating for a paid app.

Thank you!. Thank you for fixing the legacy accounts that have paid full price in the past! I have not tested this on my iPad as I was scared to update it, but I have it on my phone and so far seems to be working properly… I will give it a test on my iPad and see if everything is working on it, and hopefully be able to upgrade to 5 stars

Unique concept - Terrible App. The Good: The concept of a teleprompter that follows along while you read the script is as great as it sounds. If that’s what you’re after, PromptSmart does it well and, to my knowledge, is the only teleprompter app with this feature well implemented. The Bad: Almost everything else is a let down sadly. The app UI is basic and clunky, but functional. Performing simple tasks is often a headache, with frequent small bugs and crashes. I’ve also been logged out several times, and recently logged back in to find all my scripts missing and all custom settings back to default - like my account was reset? I reached out to support but didn’t get any reply. PSA: BACKUP YOUR SCRIPTS AND NOTE YOUR SETTINGS. The Worst: PromptSmart as a company seem to very proactively be trying find the best way to extract as much money from their customers as possible. Be prepared to slowly uncover the distinctions between; PromptSmart Lite, PromptSmart Pro and PromptSmart + apps and how they relate to various subscription plans listed on their website; Starter Pack, Teams & Enterprise and how those subscriptions and the apps work with PrompSmart Studio Edition… At first I thought PromptSmart + was a ‘free’ app that then tied in with subscription plans for advanced use/teams - and I could just stay away from it by using PromptSmart Pro; a $60, one time purchase app for individuals...I was wrong. PSA: YOU WILL RECEIVE CONSTANT ADDS IN THIS $60 APP! The pop ups and banners all over the already clunky UI remind you relentlessly about all the features your missing out on that can be unlocked with a monthly subscription….on top of your $60! If the bugs, and cheap upsell tactics don’t both you in an app this price - or if you really want the auto follow feature with the Teleprompter like I did; I guess you’ll like PromptSmart Pro. Otherwise, shop elsewhere and leave that app a good review so I can find it for myself next time.

Horrible app, hangs up, let alone voice track the click start doesnt work. This was the worst and the most expensive app purchase I have so far $30!!! I want a full refund please. The teleprompter claims to - follow voice or speech 0/10. It really doesnt do anything when you read, but bery rarely moves, that too with non speech noise - bluetooth scroll 2/10 ( under scrolls then overscrolls, then freezes consistently after 3 mins) - clicker start stop 0/10 ( absolutely basic task that it fails at abysmally) If the developper has any self respect they ought to have a refund/ dispute policy if they are expecting people to pay $30 like i did, only to provide them with free feedback , actually i paid $30 to give them feedback! Ha

Let me lock my rotation!. Rotation only works on portrait mode, not landscape, and I use the teleprompter in landscape mode. Otherwise, fantastic app, just this one simple thing would save me so much fiddling around, lots of love guys! 🫶🫶

Voice prompt unreliable and don’t size limited. This app is about the best of its type in the App Store BUT, voice prompt feature is unreliable and the font size is limited to 10-point on my iPhone max. Would appreciate bigger font options to avoid eye movement when filming.

An Essential Tool for Content Production. PromptSmart Pro is and absolute essential tool in my video production. Its voice activation feature, being able to follow my pacing even pausing when I to off-script is a game changer in the teleprompter world.

Improved. I’ve been using this for five months now. The text flow following my speech has much improved over that time. Well done.

Not impressed. Great range of features, at least in theory. The voice track is a great idea, just wished that it was reliable. Could get it to work every time. Actually, most of the time, more than 90%, it does not work smoothly. I wound up using the scroll speed function instead. Not impressed.

Doesn’t work. I’ve never seen it in action, yelling the script at my iPad but it wouldn’t scroll.

beta level software - keep away. $31 and no ability to use a bluetooth controller. - like besview - just pay us more monthly? haha. Scrolling haha - more like jump text - text jumps line by line while you are trying to read it. there is no function to scroll with a given time for Instagram 30 secs or 1 min limits for the $31 and the on screen clock is tiny microscopic size. Add to that the voice is seldom centered and instead sits one line too high most of the time. App developers huge - i am calling you to write a better app than this which Beta lvl at best and sells for $31 plus add a monthly sub on top of that if you want a remote. money for jam.

Must be fake reviews. I bought this about 6-12 months ago. It’s almost unusable. You will talk to the words and it will suddenly just skip 10 words out of no where. I’ve opened this app maybe 5 times to test it out to see if it works or it’s been fixed and nope. I’d say most of the reviews here are fake. Buy at your own risk

Waste of money. All their stars are purchased.. This app follow your voice for a few seconds and then get stuck. I purchased it but did not able to use it even for a once. It cannot help you in recording even a 1 minute video, forget about a long video. I wish i could sue them for money back.

Rip off. Charged $50 to then find out it’s a yearly subscription of another $50 to use a remote. That’s ridiculous.

Worked great until.... The latest app update! The voice track technology was excellent and now it’s a total mess, it will scroll past massive chunks of text making for a very frustrating experience. The offer of a free remote was a nice gesture but nobody told me I’d need to subscribe to use it! I’ve already bought the pro version, what new stuff am I receiving monthly to warrant a subscription, if it’s just to unlock a remote because the voice track tech is now broken I’m not interested. Surely a “pro” prompter would come with a remote upfront?!?! It’s incredibly disappointing, a once trusted and heavily relied on app is now the bane of my production studio and workflow. I’ll be looking for other options.

Messed up formatting which I had done in advance to save time. I ended up redoing the formatting and had to add spaces , make things bold and underline all over again as the upload removed all formatting. Then I had to manually edit and after every three clicks of adding space it would scroll down to the end. Then I had to scroll up and repeat the whole thing again. Started a chat with customer service and no one responded and the upload bottom of attachment to show them the video of the editing issue but that did no pt work too. Poor development and poor testing of glitches. The voice tracker is the only good feature. There should have been a 7 day trial before purchase of the pro, ..

Great concept but poor delivery. I was super excited about using this App, unfortunately it continually freezes, doesn’t matter if I’m close by or far away from my phone connected with a mic. I’m going to have to pay for the remote app and manually scroll which defeats the object. I’ve since upgraded my phone to the latest iPhone and still exactly the same problems. Also, the video quality degrades in selfie mode. I can’t find any settings to adjust the video quality but I could be wrong about that one. Most expensive app I’ve ever bought and it doesn’t work properly. Shame, it’s a great idea. Hopefully the developers sort out the freezing problem. It’s frustrating, the reason I got this was so that I can do long videos in one take. Not possible

Misleading price it’s a subscription on top of purchase cost. What rubbish is this, buy the app outright for $50 no when you get it installed then there is an annual subscription of $59 wtaf 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Yeah…not really. Tried over the last few weeks to get this to work properly and have failed. With remote livelier mic its a little better but continually stops and no combination of settings helps it. It seems unable to follow any speech for more than a short period before it just stops.

Does not work. The voice activated control doesn’t work. Very disappointing.only reason I bought this one and not the cheaper versions

Did not work. The voice control is useless unless you’re close to the device so tried to get the remote control working on iPhone to go manual and it would not connect to the iPad. Wasted my money.

It does what it claims!! Excellent stuff!. Excellent stuff!

Not good if you want it for vocals. It may be wonderful for the spoken word but I wanted to use it for vocals to use either for recording or for live gigs. After spending hours trying to get the correct timing or the correct spacing of lyrics I have given up. When you at last think you have the correct timing, it varies the timing. Speech recognition doesn’t work when singing with backing. I can’t use it

Sneaky. I just finished paying $28 to unlock the pro features so that I could use the remote control feature (separate app) for when the voice recognition fails (giving me a backup option to not ruin the presentation) and then after trying to connect the two apps I discovered that I have to pay an additional $17 (or a monthly subscription) just to use the remote with it. I just payed $45 to be able to use this teleprompter with a remote. Just a heads up for anyone looking to purchase. Shame on you...

Great idea not so great execution. I love this app, don’t get me wrong. However the bugs of it jumping forward too far or not responding are the reasons for only giving 3 stars. No updates in 9 months either to rectify the issues. I wish this app worked properly because it’s great other than the jumping too far forward while reading.

Worked great before iOS update, now huge issue. This used to work great unfortunately since iOS update now I. An spend hours dictating a script , then save and exit the app. Later to come back to open the script to edit and the page is blank !!! What the heck !! To confuse things even more , a drive symbol shows up in the top right corner of the edit screen in the app?. the only temp fix is to remove the app and reload it to the iPad ; unfortunately when you do this you loose all your work. So very frustrating. Was great now it’s useless waste of money unless this is fixed. So very disappointed!

Hardly works . Do not buy unless you have infinite patience. This app is almost non functional. Works 1/3 times. Used it with my iPhone 12 now using an iPad with a different app

Not reliably responsive. I have the paid versions of other popular teleprompter mobile apps and this one has been disappointing for the price. I bought this for the voice recognition, however, this feature isn’t reliable and often just stops recognizing voice/stops scrolling. It gets frustrating when the app suddenly becomes unresponsive while reading through a script.

Glitchy does not work. Totally frustrating and unreliable even when you go through all their help docs and try all recommended options. Such a waste of hours.

Not working. It doesn't really track my voice. Sometimes it does other times it doesn't..

Terrible piece of junk. Don’t buy it. Crashes, deletes your scripts all that for $30? I requested a refund directly from Apple. Going to try Teleprompter Premium. So far it’s better but have to wait and see. You would think they would master the basics first, i.e. make sure scripts don’t spontaneously delete.

WHY did you make these awful changes?. -the app will stop recording without any warning, still looks like it’s filming, you only find out when you hit stop and your video is shorter than expected -video files are stored in the app and can only be accessed on the front page - they don’t show up in your camera roll -for some unfathomable reason deleting scripts removes the associated video from the app, but does not delete it from the app’s storage! Currently 350GB of space on my phone is full of videos I can’t even watch The app *functions* as a vlogging teleprompter. Since the update that’s the only good thing I can say about it

Enough Upselling. Seems like a great app. However, for $30 I expect it to include all features without having to purchase an additional subscription. Three stars...it would have been more if you stopped listening to your marketing people.

Great if the voice tracking worked. On paper, this sounds ideal. A teleprompter that tracks what you say and scrolls the text to match. Unfortunately what you get is frustration to the point of wanting to throw your phone out of the window. If your script is more than a few lines long, the tracking gets confused. It will race ahead or lag behind so far that you can’t read what’s next. If you try to scroll back a few lines to catch up or to re-record a mistake, it will stubbornly jump back down a few screens. I really wanted to like this, but it’s just too hard to get it working properly.

Don’t waste your money!. The app doesn’t respond to voice. If you try to get tech support the reply to this issue, they tell you to just put it on a manual speed setting rather than voice? I bought it for voice, but I guess it doesn’t do this?... when I asked for a refund as I wanted a voice recorder, they ghosted the chat... also.. after you pay the $27, there’s still more thing you have to pay for.

Doesn’t work**** Yes it’s does.. So this doesn’t happen often. I posted a terrible review yesterday as I tried the app and it just got hung up trying to process my script. For hours! Given the price of the app, I was not happy. I reached out to their help desk and got a response the next morning. With a couple of simple steps (delete all the scripts, reload my script) it worked perfectly. I mean perfectly! Right down to transferring the resultant video file from my iPad to my Mac seamlessly via air drop. Last night, after I had issues, I tried a dozen other alternatives and none of them did everything this app does. So when the tech support person’s suggestion worked, I was absolutely thrilled. Worth. Every. Penny.

Voice track does not work. I bought this app for the voice track feature. It does not work at all. It always skips to the middle of the script. I tried speaking slowly, I tried holding the iPad close, I also tried attaching an external microphone. It always skips to the middle of the script and does not work for a single line of script. Definitely not worth the purchase. I will be requesting a refund unless the issue can be fixed.

App crashes constantly and erases text. I’ve been using this app for over a year now and have found its performance unreliable, especially the Voicetrack which either jams up or skips lines and even entire paragraphs even though I use an external microphone that’s plugged into my iPad that I use as a the teleprompter. The app also crashes on a constant basis and when I restart the program, the text wasn’t there.

Not that efficient. I have been using this app for last couple of months but every time the text doesn’t scroll with video and have to scroll it manually which is very frustrating. Automatic scrolling of script was the feature which made me buy this app but now I feel it’s not worth the money spent.

Not bad. Not bad and I find it very useful. But voice track just doesn’t work on my iPad.

Voice recognition is not good. Teleprompter feature sup par.. I am a season videographer and content creator. I’ve worked on large corporate projects and have filmed and created hundreds of videos. I have been around the block a tume or two when it comes to using Teleprompter‘s, and I got to say there are some free Teleprompter apps that are more worth your time than this one. The voice track for this app is what gets you hooked, but the technology to back it up is not up to industry standard. I have tried using this on my phone and it only kind of works. I tried using it on my iPad to get a bigger screen and there is glitch upon glitch. I want a full refund, but I don’t know how to initiate it. Terrible customer service. Do not buy this app at all! Try the parrot Teleprompter or other Teleprompter app, but don’t be fooled like I did. These guys just take your money and they’re not worth it.

Horrible User Interface and User Experience!. The VoiceTrack feature only works 10% of the time. The remote control feature works 0% of the time and has a horrible UI and UX. Don’t waste your money......

Confusing pricing inconsistent experience. I had really hoped for this to be great. I bought it for the voice track technology which as others describes often just stalls and doesn’t respond to your voice or jumps too far ahead. But the thing that bothers me the most is the pricing model. I’ve seen three different sets of pricing depending on where you look. I paid for a subscription to auto start after my free trial ended 6 days ago. I’ve lost all premium features and haven’t heard from back from support in two business days not even an auto-responder.

Must subscribe to get basic functionality. Needed to connect an external mic to iPad in order for the device to track reliably. This should be mentioned in product description. Zippers on TP are difficult to use. Carrying case is poor. Unless you want to subscribe for full functionality, skip this one.

TOTAL FAIL. TOTAL FAIL. I signed up for the 7 day free trial, but was charged the full amount immediately. Tried the app for a few hours with a couple paragraphs as my script and it stopped randomly every time and couldn’t get through it once. The voice-operation simply does not work. Unless I’m missing something, if you record landscape in selfie mode, you can’t see the entire screen in order to frame up your shot. The app is also super slow to save each video it’s painful. Read so many positive reviews, am extremely disappointed. Complete waste of money. I would hope for a refund, but won’t hold my breath.

Garbage. Doesn’t work at all

Unstable. Will not save video record settings and will not record video or audio today. Crashes as well

Too expensive. Too many bugs. You buy the app for an expensive price then you have to buy more to get all the features which is ridiculous. So I bought the extras and then a little while later the app randomly resets all my settings and also cancels my extra features options so now I don’t have those. If I try to get it again, it fails and gives me an error code... Way too many problems and way too expensive. The voice control also works perfect only about 80% of the time making it just irritating enough that I’d rather have it off for long scripts. Great idea for an app, way too expensive. Way too many problems like resetting all my settings and having to set it up again like font size, vertical mode, remote use issues, and a few others... Cut the price in half, include all features and fix the bugs and you get a 5 star, but right now I literally cannot use your app as it gives me an error code for remote use (sometimes I’ve already paid for beyond the initial price of the app) so I’m giving a 1 star...

Bait and switch Pricing model. Says it has a free trial but you have to pay for the app and then the subscription is a free trial. What the F? Also, it’s had a hard time following along? As you read, why doesn’t it also highlight a line or word where it thinks you are at.

Voice Activate. I was happy the first time I tried it… after that the “Voice Activation” auto scroll didn’t work!

The perfect tool for narration. As a professional narrator taking scripts into the sound booth or working with an iPad that you had to manually scroll was interfering with my product. Using your app will allow me to read for as long as I like without the inconvenience of rustling paper noises or bumping the iPad screen and losing my place. It’s wonderful, thank you. Mitchell Snaden MitchellSnaden audio.com

Love the app. This is game changer. I love this app. It allows me to do 8 videos in one take. No need editing. It’s amazing. Feedback for company; Allow us to chose the size of the box we read from. I could use a smaller one meaning less eye movement left to right on a iPad. Also allow us to lock the video with a full screen preview. Many times I’m on the side covered by text and can’t tell it’s overexposed and I can’t click on face to edit it. I still love it and see you updating it so I hope more improvement in the future. I’ve been telling everyone about this app. It really is a blessing to make video this easy.

garbage. Used this app a few times. Bought the addons. Randomly skipped ahead while speaking. Very frustrating. Tried to use it again a few days later and I’d won’t open. Contacted them for a refund and was COMPLETELY ignored. Complete waste of money and TIME.

Prompting made easy. I love the Teleprompter Pro app. for IOS on my iPad. The voice activated auto-scrolling of text feature is ideal. When you stop, it waits for you to begin speaking again. It’s much better than manual control of scrolling which has a number of drawbacks. The edit functions are easy to use, and it’s clear and easy to read. I invert the text and use a sheet of half mirrored glass that I shoot through with my BMD Ursa Mini 4.6K cinema camera. The video looks great, and people cannot tell that I use a tele-promoter for my scripts. Brock Fricker from Brock Sound / Dreamscape Video, Toronto

Why did this stop working all of a sudden?. Suddenly this Teleprompter stopped working. It now tells me that I need to grant permission to use the microphone on my iPad, but when I go to permissions for PromptSmart, there is no permission option related to the microphone. There is simply no way to grant this app access to the microphone, so it is now a dead app.

consider other options?. works fine, but can’t easily tolerate the constant grab for ‘premium features’.

You paid for the full app? Too bad! Pay us more now!. Yet another app which when logging in after having paid for the “full version” does a bait and switch, and asks you to pay the new subscription fee plastered right as you open it. Then it loves to constantly remind you that your money is gone and that they require you to pay more… Scummy move from yet another scummy company.

VoiceTrack is the only key feature. Other features like text colours, import from iOS device storage, remote control are all far behind competing apps. Not only that, remote control is an extra paid feature. I probably would only use this for smaller productions where I have to have voicetrack. Otherwise, I’m sticking to Teleprompter Premium. Overall not a great value for the price.

A real game-changer!. It follows my speech perfectly. A must-have if you do public speaking or need to record video lectures. I really enjoy the experience!

Great. Works wonderfully and at a great price point. Highly recommended for producing an online video for research and academia

It’s Updated Review…. for the Updated App. Now it’s making me pay for all the features I already paid for in one payment with a subscription. I already paid for the full function of the app. You can’t decide to make me pay for a subscription now. That’s bad business.

Need improvement. Don’t waste your money, it doesn’t work. I asked refund.

A great app for a video blog. I am using PromptSmart to record videos for my art blog and I am very happy with it.

Voice activation is flaky.. I initially purchased this app because of the voice activation and was very pleased with the first version I had. The current version seems to be a bit flaky. Several times as I was using the voice activation feature while recording myself, it stopped for no apparent reason. If I moved it past the next line or two, it carried on. This happened twice in the same document and I tried everything to see if I could smooth it out but to no avail. Had to end up using a fixed pace, which really defeats the purpose of the voice activation feature. Other than that, the other features are great.

New Version Sucks!. The new update not only changed the layout completely but also I lost all of my previous scripts! There’s no way I can get them back. On top of it I paid for the subscription for that month, when the new update comes out the app asks me to pay again! Very frustrating!!!

Please avoid this app! It’s the worst among all.. Hi, Let me tell you that I am using teleprompter from last 5 years and I decided to buy this one but turnout as the worst experience. Voice recognition get stuck all the time and it doesn’t scroll at my as I wish to set. It has a option but that’s of no use. This app will just take your money without giving you a trial and you will waste your $19.99 for no reason.

New update is horrible. New update has way too many bugs. Vertical mirroring does not work now, so this app is no good for teleprompters. The interface is really confusing. You guys should have kept things simple and stayed with the old version. I am thinking about getting a new teleprompter app. Bad move here from you guys.

Glitch with iPad. Nice app. I like it but there is a glitch when you try to edit on the iPad. The text doesn’t display at all.

So far it’s not working. When I turn it on and speak it just keeps scrolling even after I stop speaking. If this app cannot track me with voice recognition then I really should get my refund back because I just can’t use this app effectively. It’s the only reason why I got the app.

The new upgrade to the app sucks. This used to be an AMAZING app but now it’s terrible I have to keep changing the settings and it crashes all the time And they now want a subscription fee Brutal

Log in Everytime. Every time I use this app on my iPad or phone, I have to login. It seems like it’s the only app that you have to do this with. Too bad as most of the other features work. Voice recognition still needs work, too.

So obvious in retro. I’ve tried half a dozen teleprompter apps and this is by far the best. Not having to use some flaky Bluetooth dingus is great. The idea that the app listens to you and scrolls to keep you next line front and centre is game-changing. Get this app if you need a good teleprompter.

The app updated, and now it doesn’t work. The app updated, and now it doesn’t work

I bought this for voice tracking with video recording and it is total crap. I wrote a script and it worked fine with their free version. Then I paid for the full version so I could record the script with video and that’s when things stop working. What happens is the video will record with voice tracking for a few lines and then freeze. I tried changing the wording, speaking more slowly, using different microphones, and annunciating in a pedantic fashion. None of this seems to get voice tracking video recording to capture any more than a few lines. Perhaps this problem was introduced in the recent release which claimed to improve voice tracking? Regardless, I hope they will fix it real soon so I can have software that works the way it was promised.

Forced to subscribe without warning!!!. I’ve been using this for a few years now with no problem. Today when I went in I was not able to start a new script and it would not let me set the mirroring on my existing scripts without upgrading to the Premium version. I get that this is what sustains some of these Apps, but at least give a user a little warning! I had a job to record today and this thing was useless. I downloaded another teleprompter app and was able to complete my work. I’ll be looking for something else to use on a permanent basis, even if it requires a subscription. But because of the lack of concern this company has shown, it wont be this one!

Got confused on the subscription. I purchased the pro version in 2019, and I was quite surprised to open the app and be informed I can activate my “trial version“ for seven days. I was pretty disappointed, thinking that my perpetual license was no longer valid. However, I reread the details to see that the trial is only for the extended features. PromptSmart Pro works great, and I unfortunate that I can still read it even in bright sunlight.

PromptSmart has a zillion useful features. I’ve tried other teleprompter apps and this was the best one for me. For many reasons… 1). The Developer answers emails. He updates the app frequently. 2). You can create scripts within the app or easily import them. 3). You can use the scripts directly with just your iPad. Or use the app with a physical teleprompter — which requires the text to be “reversed/mirrored - you just easily click a button to reverse/mirror for physical teleprompters. 4). Lots of ways to move the script along. I use a Bluetooth foot pedal. However you can use a Gameboy type mini controller. Or just your voice. 5) Lots more features. You will like them. 5. My Newer teleprompter came with its own app — but has limited features. So I don’t use the Newer app and use this excellent, full-featured app instead.

Terrible execution. I downloaded this app because it was highly recommended by a mentor of mines however, I’ve lost countless hours trying to figure out how to get the voice track to work properly with this app. It works sometimes there’s no indication letting us know that it actually works the app itself is not intuitive at alland just creates delays. When all I want to do is turn on my Teleprompter and record. They’re also seems to be no support and no one. I can voice these issues with to have them fixed. The theory of the app is great however, the execution is just terrible.

Voice-activated scroll feature doesn’t work. I purchased this app solely due to the voice-activated scroll feature and the fact that almost all reviews indicated that it worked well. I ran a few test runs with the provided test-scripts, and everything seemed to be working fine. However, when I wrote in my own script and attempted to record, the script kept freezing. I retried things about 4-5 times and kept experiencing the same problem. I’d have to reach out my hand every time to get the script going again, at which point it would start working and then freeze again a few seconds later. I tried talking more slowly, tried enunciating, but still the same issue over and over. Sad because this app seemed to have promise. If the issue gets resolved I’ll update my review with more info.

Its Just Too Buggy. I’ll be honest, if this app worked exactly as advertised, I would gladly pay $100 for it. But it doesn’t, the voice tracking is just too buggy. I purposefully do all my recordings at night when things are pretty much silent in the house. I even have an external mic hooked up. It will do well for short scripts. But after about five minutes, it will just randomly start shooting ahead. Like paragraphs at a time. I don’t get it, and I’m writing this review as I’m desperately trying to finish a script but cannot get past saying the first word of this one paragraph that apparently triggers in the software to jump ahead four sentences.

Every time I use this…. Every time I use this app I hate it and I love it. When it’s working, it works well. The problem is, I spend anywhere from 1 to 15 minutes. Trying to get it to work. I have also been halfway through a 20 minute presentation when it bugged out and deleted my video. Also the video quality and the sounds quality are greatly diminished when using this app, it makes the video sound and look low quality

Trying to use this on a phone is like driving an ice pick through your eye. The small amount of text that you see on the screen makes you have to slow down sooooooo much that you sound like you’re just learning how to speak the language. And it CONSTANTLY just stops scrolling after a few lines and doesn’t sync to my voice. I have used this app for a few long speeches now and it have never, not a single time, gotten me through an entire speech. I have basically had to resort to shooting speeches and editing them together in iMovie because the voice scrolling technology, which is their big selling point, simply does not keep up with my voice. I guess if I want to spend $1500 to buy an ipad, I can do that to see if this app works any better on that. Oh, and it isn’t available for a laptop so if I wanted to use it on my MacBook, that isn’t an option. I would be much better off with something that I can scroll myself apparently. This software just categorically doesn’t work for me.

Frustratingly Inconsistent. All my problems are with the voice advancing feature (which is the reason I purchased it). Sooo frustrating. I do a little intro before getting to the prompter then start reading but the prompter doesn’t advance or it does the opposite and starts advancing even though I haven’t spoken on word that should have made it advance. The other problem is in the middle of a recording it will at times advance too far. It will jump three lines when I have only begun reading the first line.

Ripoff Scum Developer. First off, I get it the developer wants to make more money with subscriptions and I certainly don’t begrudge them making money from their work. The problem is I paid $30 for full functionality several years back. At the time, $30 gave you full functionality on your mobile device. You could pay extra for a subscription for saving your scripts to the cloud and seamless connection between your mobile device and computer. I didn’t need the extra functionality and so no subscription for me. Now the app doesn’t function properly without paying a subscription. I use this app very infrequently and I’m not paying another subscription, so go *bleep* yourself Belleau Technologies LLC (the developer).

Margin size is too small. It looks like I’m reading the whole time because the margin position isn’t narrow enough. This wouldn’t be that big of a deal if there was a way I could have known that before I bought it. I think it would be nice to add previews of the upgrades in the lite version to prevent this. Since I only found out it doesn’t work the way I wanted after I bought it, I feel a bit irritated but the rest of the app works very well. The scrolling is a little choppy but that might be fixable with a smaller font. I think I can make it work and hope that more narrow margins & improvement to the scrolling will be added in the future.

Disappointed. I like this app, but really disappointed previous versions do not sync and developer doesn’t seem to care to update for backward and forward compatibility! I have an iPad Air 4 and can run only version 1.7 it appears so my scripts do not sync with my iPhone 7plus running the lasted version 11, which makes it impossible to work on scripts on the road on my phone and then have them sync to the iPad when I’m back in the studio to broadcast. I’d really like some backward compatibility and this app would be 4 or 5 stars, if the slow scroll also worked regularly. Can you guys put in a little work and get the sync up to date? Thanks!

Top-Notch Teleprompter App!. This Teleprompter app is a game-changer! Having tried numerous apps before, this one undoubtedly takes the crown. I've witnessed its evolution firsthand, and the technological enhancements are genuinely next-level. Perfect for spontaneous projects or seasoned reporters; it's evident that the developers have poured immense dedication into refining this gem. A must-have tool in your digital arsenal! Bravo to the team behind this; your excellence shines through with every update. 👏👏👏

Excellent Value. I tried using other teleprompter apps (I hadn't known about this one yet) but most of them had subscription models, which makes absolutely no sense. Why would you pay an on going subscription for something you don't regularly use? This app: one time charge, you get a product and it's yours for life. Easy and fair transaction. It works great and has voice tracking so it knows when to stop when you stop and when to resume when you talk. Fantastic app and one of the best purchases I made.

Previously available features missing. As an actor, this had been my go to app for self tape auditions for many years. The most useful feature for me was the ability to use different colored text to distingush between characters in the same script. After this recent major update, that feature is seemingly gone. I can only make ALL the text on any given script one color now. This severely diminshes the usefullness of this app for me. Like so many others, I also paid a good deal of money for the PRO version years ago. If that critical feature is now suddenly behind the new "Extended subscription" paywall, I'm out. I had previously recommended this app to many fellow actors. Might be time for us to find a new one...

Really good app...fix for recent issues. I really love this app and had some serious problems in the last few days. I came here and saw lots of reviews with the same issues. I deleted the app and reinstalled it and many of the problems were fixed. I’m still not wild about the lack of a solid background behind the text because it really does make it hard to read, but the reinstall fixed the voice tracking issue. Hope this helps you!

Lavalier issues. Two different results using external lavaliers: if recording audio only, fine, but if recording using the camera I get a lot of random electrical pops underneath the voice. This renders the app useless for my purposes. I was never expecting Grammy-winning audio but this is unusable in its current state. I have tested two lavaliers. One is a $79 Rode and the other a smart phone headset mic I bought at a gas station. Exact same outcome: if I create an audio-only recording, all is well. But if I record with the camera, which was the point of buying the app, the audio is ruined with these random electrical pops. I have to try another product. Running on a 2019 iPad Air I bought for this purpose. Frustrating.

A few bad glitches but good. Overall the app is great and works as it should. But I also get glitches that are a pain to deal with during a shoot. Like when you click back from the teleprompter format to the script, the text will auto change to white and blend in with the background. At first I thought it was just deleting the script, but really it was just blending in randomly. Also the app crashed twice on me and completely deleted the script from the app. Kind of a huge issue that needs fixed ASAP. Besides those two glitches the app is great.

Doesn’t scroll with my voice. This app would be fantastic if it actually scrolled by following my voice. I speak English and I don’t have any kind of discernible accent, so it’s difficult for me to understand why the app fails to scroll with my voice almost every time. I have an iPhone XS, I have no other apps running, I have the latest version of iOS – no reason I can think of why it shouldn’t work. It either scrolls too fast, or it freezes and stops scrolling altogether. I paid to use this app and it is completely failing. I can’t tell you how many times I have tried to record a video and the app has just not worked. I would appreciate whatever help you can offer.

Keeps getting worse. This is the first promoter app I purchased and a really like it. But now it has all kinds of bugs that keep popping up and it’s very frustrating. For instance, it doesn’t auto correct text so you’ll have to so that on your own. Also, and this is very maddening, when you double space to enter a period at the end of a sentence it takes the cursor to the end of the entire script. So if you change a paragraph in the middle you have to keep clicking back into the paragraph to put your cursor in the right place. If you use the microphone to record a script it puts the words in twice and finally it keeps logging me out so I have to constantly log back in. Do yourself a favor and get a different app.

Best app for recording voiceovers.. Having tried several different apps in the “Teleprompter“ category, I can say without reservation that this is the best one I’ve tried. In my case, I mostly use this app for recording voiceovers. It works beautifully for that, as I can set up my phone or iPad in my recording booth and get right to recording without worrying about flipping pages on a script. The other thing I love about it is that I can sync to dropbox, and easily grab the latest version of my script there. Good stuff!

Very Buggy on iPhone Max. Bought the app to have an upgrade from Parrot, but I’m not too happy with it. The layout bugs out when rotated, making it unusable without restarting. It doesn’t seem optimized for the iPhone Max. The controls seem to be in a different place every time I open the app. Needs an update to be good with the newer Max phones. Update: Developer responded with basic troubleshooting. Nothing helped. Even worse, the app struggled during the last time using it, moving several lines at a time, then stopping. It doesn’t track speech very well. I had to manually scroll so my talent could keep a natural pace. It should have an auto scroll setting with adjustable speed.

Very terrible, do not waste your money.. I purchased this application 3 weeks ago excited to use the voice activation. The feature does not work at all. Reached out to customer service and they told me to do a few things to see if it’ll work, including deleting the application and reinstalling, and sending over my script to make sure there weren’t any errors. Neither fixed the issue. They told me then to reach out to an email for further support. I reached out, received a response a week later saying they were sorry for the inconvenience. I responded and have yet to receive anything back. Reached out to the chat customer service in the application again and when they responded it wouldn’t even allow me to view the conversation. This application is $20 and a rip off, do not spend a penny on this.

What happened?. I loved this app until the upgraded version ruined it for me! I used the older version for a few years with no problems whatsoever. However, after updating to the newest version I have had nothing but problems. I am a minister and use it 2-3 times a week. But since it now continually locks up not only the program, but my entire iPad(s) I have had to resort to using a different app. At first I thought it might be my iPad, but then after trying the app on two other iPads and finding it still freezes up after about 5 minutes into my sermon (causing great humiliation), I can no longer find it reliable. Please fix what used to be an outstanding app!

It was perfect until recently. I don’t know what happened, but now I’m having issues with not seeing my videos after recording. I recorded 6 videos yesterday but none of my video are showing up in the video library from yesterday’s shoot or before, even after hitting the refresh button multiple times, updating my phone, restarting my phone, and checking for updates for this app in the App Store. I was able to see them before recording three latest videos, then nothing just a button constantly refreshing, saying loading. I even opened the app on my iPad too and still it does the same thing.

Voice recognition is poor.. I did a bit of research before committing to a teleprompter app and found based on reviews and playing around this was the best. I paid for the premium model and now I can’t even get the voice scroll to function properly. Other then literally being 12” away from the iPad, I’m sitting at 37” away from the iPad (measured it) and the app will spontaneously stop scrolling, speed up to another part of the script or just stop and not work until I pause and try playing the script again. I’m a native English speaker with an American accent and am using a 2019 ipad. Waste of $20. Get one that’s free or cheaper with a text scroll option. Voice scroll is too buggy.

Really nice prompter but it could be better. I like this app and give it 4 stars out of 5 as there is room for improvement. The best feature is that it monitors what I say and scrolls the text automatically. That is awesome. However, one area for improvement would be allowing for a larger font. Currently the font is capped at 10. Why?!! The font should at least go to 14 as there are many folks who have trouble reading small fonts. This is an easy fix and they should roll that out immediately! Second, they should implement a “lock text orientation” option so the text doesn’t change orientation when the orientation of the device changes. Essentially, when I’m finished with the settings, the text should not be flipping around while I’m placing the phone into position on my camera. If they fix these two issues, this app would deserve a 5* and I would update my review accordingly. Overall though, it’s a good app that can be improved and it is worth the $20.

Highly useful. Now in a revamped form this is the most useful iPad based teleprompter I have ever used and I have used several before settling on this one. Its most useful feature for me is its voice response. The script advances at my pace by listening to me. If I choose to go off script, it waits for me to return and resumes. Perhaps in the future I will make use of the more advanced features, but simply using the basic features has made my efforts very productive. I have also found the support within the program to be outstanding.

Not there yet. We purchased this to replace another teleprompter app. Thais app lacks many yet basic features. For example you can’t increase the font size. The max is 12pt. The mirroring feature doesn’t work as it should. While running the app from an iPad with a teleprompter using a thunderbolt cable, you’d expect it to not flip on the iPad too. Well, it does not and it’s been a nightmare and we have to use an actual mirror to properly flip the text for the person running the teleprompter. Second, there’s no feature (not that I can see) that shows you time lapsed on each script delivery. The customer service help has not been able to provide a solution.

An entire saved script completely disappeared. I’ve been OK with the app up until this evening. I wrote a 15 minutes script earlier this evening, saved it several times in the course of working on it, and then just now sat down to record it. I had only gotten a few minutes into the script when the app suddenly closed and the script disappeared entirely. I can’t find it anywhere. I tried restarting my phone. I’m going to try deleting and then downloading the app again, but this shouldn’t happen, especially when I paid for the upgrade. Very disappointing

Good app but needs improvement. I have used a professional promoter software for a decade and tried this one for the iPad. Overall I like it but the remote app needs help. Since I can’t stand behind the subject to see what they’re reading, the mirror text on phone is important but on this app, if I scroll on my phone, it doesn’t scroll on the iPad until I release my finger from the phone. This is not good as I’ve been used to manually controlling speed for on screen talent and this is very jumpy and not smooth. I would love for my scroll actions on the phone to match the iPad. That would be perfect. Also, a larger font size would be great.

Not bad.. I’ve noticed that when speaking towards the teleprompter you need to have a strong commanding voice otherwise it won’t scroll. I’m using a portrait lens 85mm f1.8 and I’m setup about 7-1/2 feet from the speaker. When that failed, I resorted to using the iPhone companion app. The scroll was so jumpy for the person to read. The mirroring feature needs to include the “highlighted” part I have on the main teleprompter. Can you add a scroll adjustment setting within the iPhone app for those smooth scrolls. Also maybe add an adjustment setting that can pick up audio for lower voiced people.

Used to be amazing. Now unreliable.. I have used this for years, and it used to be fantastic. I got my entire organization to use PromptSmart. But this year’s updates have ruined it. The app freezes frequently, or jumps erratically while you are reading, both of which make the app useless. Many times many of us have had these problems on very up-to-date iPads. That leaves us hanging when we are in front of crowds of hundreds of people, which is extremely awkward. When it works, it’s wonderful, but I just can’t use it anymore because it is no longer reliable. Ready to find a new app.

Nice app...don’t like how the features aren’t included and marketing isn’t forth coming. I was really excited to start using this app. Great advertised features but they aren’t all included with the purchased app! You don’t know that until after you buy the app and go to use the remote control that it requires and extended monthly subscription! So beware you have to buy the app then pay a subscription to fully use it. Unfortunately that leaves me feeling like I’ve been duped. Should be a subscription or a purchase not both. Feels like software selling of the 80’s.

Regret buying. I regret buying this app. I wanted to use the feature that follows your voice but it works incredibly poorly. When the text does move it’s not a smooth scroll and is hard to find your place when it jumps down. Other times it doesn’t work at all and you get to the bottom of the text and it does t scroll. My other complaint is that the text size can not be made large enough. You can set size 1-10 and 10 was not big enough. I prefer just one or two words per line so that my eyes dont need to move much. It was such a bad experience I went back to the free app I was using which I liked better. I may inquire about a refund as I feel like I didn’t get what I paid for.

Looked great then fell off cliff. I purchased this and tested it myself. It worked great and seemed to fit perfectly for my needs. I then tried using it with a female spokesperson person but the script did not advance. Tried males and again worked perfectly. I contacted PromptSmart and they were quick to respond, stating that this is a known bug with some female voices. However they offered to upgrade me to PromptSmart + for free. I followed their directions but couldn’t get it to work at all. I even tried selecting the option to pay for the upgrade but that didn’t work either. I contacted them again 2 days ago.... nothing. No response. Contacted them multiple times... crickets. I think this has the potential to be a great product but the way it is it’s useless. I’ve gone back to my freeware.

More bugs than a roach motel. I bought this app to narrate a documentary in Malaysia. I tested it briefly on my iPhone 17 Pro Max before leaving, and it appeared fine. However, once on location, the app struggled to switch the dialogue box to landscape, froze multiple times, and crashed repeatedly. My main issue was that the voice-activated scrolling didn't work at all. I tried using the iPhone’s built-in mic and a DJI Mic 2 paired with the phone, but the script either would scroll just one line before freezing or wouldn't start altogether. I performed several hard and soft resets of the phone, but nothing helped. In all, it was a complete failure and set back our production while I found another teleprompter app that did work.

Phenomenal app. It’ll help you make perfect videos.. I downloaded this app then immediately signed up; it’s a bit on the expensive side - but the voice recognition and text follow along is priceless. App works perfectly on an iPad and all the necessary options are there. I was up and running in about 15 minutes, and was able to mirror the text, change the font and color. Once the script was loaded - I was able to make a perfect press release video the first take. The only feature I’d like to see is the ability to load a script in via email, EG: email your script to an address on your account like scripts@promptsmart then they sync to the teleprompter app. This would make it easier to import scripts. This app is very complete and feature rich. Expensive but you get what you pay for.

Good options, but trouble picking up female voice. The free version is just an annoying tease. Got the pro version which is $20 well-spent. All the right features are there, and the option for having an app for other languages (Spanish for us) was also very handy. One problem: no matter what we try, my wife’s voice isn’t well recognized by the app. She’s not being too quiet, not is she hard to understand. She’s a native English speaker and has a regular-level voice for a woman. The app just doesn’t hear her so the voice-tracking feature is a waste on her. LAME since that’s the reason we went with this app over others. Hopefully an update will fix it. Meanwhile other stuff works as promised.

Horrible “downgrade”. Like many others, I’m shocked at how poorly this supposed “upgrade” was handled. No communication about it. I just opened the app that I paid for and have been using for years to find that my account was no longer active and I had to pay again. What’s more, the import from Google Drive now just shows a long list of Google Docs in no particular order, making it impossible to find new scripts that I create in Google Docs. Also, the recording interface is worse—it’s harder to see the text and the preview looks different. What they should have done is grandfather all previous users in without asking them to pay again, and just keep this new subscription feature for new users.

A mainstay of my professional work. I’ve used this app for thousands of videos. It keeps getting better every year. When I first reviewed it I judged it pretty harshly as it still had some flaws but now I think it’s basically perfect. The voice recognition for scrolling works almost perfectly. The mass import form cloud services feature is a huge time saver. You can get some great work done with this app.

It works most of the time, but not always.. This has mostly been a great asset for me as a professional actor. I’ve only had issues with it once before, and customer service let me know that it was the way the PDF was formatted that caused issues when I copied and pasted into the app. Easy enough to correct. But after the most recent update, I cannot get it to function properly at all and I have to meet a deadline tonight. This is not a cheap app to purchase and has paid for itself easily, but when it does have problems they are extremely, massively, annoyingly frustrating problems.

Voice scrolling is dangerously inconsistent. Got this for a lengthy presentation I’m working on and during test runs, this app fully stopped following my voice mere minutes in. No clear reason why… it just stopped. I have a loud voice and fairly good diction, and there was no difference between the way I was speaking before and after it failed. Prior to that, it didn’t move quite as fast as I would have liked through the script, but I was happy when it worked at all. I wish there was a way to more aggressively center text based on my speaking speed… but I guess it doesn’t even work consistently so that doesn’t even matter.

Very Close to Perfect. I love this app and use it often. Two minor things would make it perfect in my opinion. #1 I would love to be able to make the text on the teleprompt larger. There are many scenarios in which I find myself needing bigger text. #2 The automatic text scrolling is an awesome feature. It’s perhaps a bit too sensitive and scrolls when it’s not supposed to at times. Other than that, it’s a home run, and I highly recommend it!

I am beside myself upset with this app. I have been using this for about a year. I spent a decade in radio and have a clear and crisp voice.... yet the voice tracking absolutely never works. It always speeds up way past my voice so I’m forced to turn it off and have it scroll on a timer. Used it today after a recent update, and it blew away all my settings and I have to set everything up from scratch. You got rid of the numbers on the scroll timer so if I have to adjust it now I have absolutely no way to keep track of it. This is the first time I have ever reviewed anything on the App Store. You took a good-ish product, made a bunch of unnecessary changes, and refuse to fix the voice tracking. If I could give it less than one start I absolutely would.

Makes Your Podcasts and Videos Better. I purchased the Pro app a few days ago and it’s already changing the way I do business videos and podcasts. I’ve been an off-the-cuff speaker for years. Maybe a few notecards or a sheet of paper with the quotes, but never a script. PromptSmart is so easy to use that scripts have become the easiest way to product quality content. I also had a question for support and got a quick and accurate reply — thanks Jeremy!

A Swing and a Miss. A voice activated teleprompter is a brilliant idea, but at the moment, this app is not executed well enough for professional use. The main problem is that it does not advance smoothly. Yes, it’s supposed to follow your voice, but sometimes it jumps ahead by two or even three lines, making it the copy difficult (or even impossible) to follow. Also, rather than a smooth scroll, it jumps line by line. Again, difficult to follow. A voice activated prompter is a terrific idea, especially these days, when many of us are forced to be our own engineers. Alas, until the voice tracking is fixed, this app is simply not worth it.

Lots of room for improvement. If you are using this app with an external camera that has a phone cradle with a mirror, like the Parrot Teleprompter, the narrowest width setting is not narrow enough, especially if you are using the app on a bigger phone like the iPhone Pro Max. Eye scanning reduction is important, and you will definitely look like you are reading what you are saying. Also, there should be a means of slowing down the scroll speed. Sometimes the speech recognition hears you say a line, and the text jumps up the screen making it easy to get lost. Finally, I’d recommend skipping the remote add on app, which is a bit half baked.

It works. For me, this works perfectly and helps me stay on cue and not going off on too many tangents while speaking. The voice recognition works fine and a great feature is that if I go off on a rant it waits until I return to the script. When using this, I go to the trouble of ending all other apps to ensure it has the resources necessary, which is something I generally do on my iPad if what I’m doing with any app is relevant enough to have everything it needs to run without issue. My iPad runs fine using this app and 32g of memory, which is at the minimal end of what iPads offer.
