Photo Scan App by Photomyne Comments & Reviews 2026
Amazing. I was looking for a platform to easily take pictures of hundreds of physical photos. But I didn’t wanna pay a ton, nor did I want to make it a headache. I just uploaded hundreds of photos over the last two hours, made them into slideshows very easily. Shared them to my Google Drive to use as a super simple slideshow. I work in disputing bad reviews, legitimately my job. I don’t review things unless they are phenomenal. This is it! Highly highly recommended. It was free to an extent but then it was a $10 fee to finalize what I was looking for. If and when I have another project like this I will do it again in a heartbeat, personally not going to pay the yearly fee. But anybody trying to do something on the regular, it’s worth it!
This was just what I needed. I was visiting my family and had boxes of loose photos to go through and wanted to be sure that I could digitize some for my own use.I tried taking a photo of them with my iPhone but that didn’t turn out great, and then I looked into Google drives scanner app and that didn’t work out either. PhotomyneWas at the top of my Google search when I was looking for a better option and it had great reviews so I thought I would give it a try! I’m so glad that I did. I was able to digitize over 500 photos and the app made some of them look even better than the quality of the photo itself!I love the way you can take a photo of an entire page of loose photos and the app is able to identify each individual picture and optimize it as its own photo. Great app 👍
Best app EVER!!. I had a mother that hoarded photographs! I have pictures that date back to the 1800s that I didn’t know what to do with and every time I tried to scan them they looked like crap. This app has been amazing, and then I can easily share them with my family! A feature that I wish this app had was for me to allow contributors. I wish I could allow my nieces or my cousins to be able to make changes, like adding dates to the pictures that I didn’t know and other information. It would also be nice if you could add a feature that would allow families to get together and contribute to one album. My nieces also have old pictures of my grandparents and it would be nice if we could have them all in one place. I just can’t say enough good things about this app though! It sharpens your pictures as it downloads them it can color eyes or black and whites, although sometimes not perfectly, but overall it is just an amazing app and worth every penny they’re asking for!
Perfect archive app for Boomer generation. Photomyne is an amazing app that allows you to scan multiple photos per scan saving valuable time. Place 4 or 5 photos together, the scan will recognize, crop and save them for you…oh…and it also includes ai to IMPROVE the quality of your photos! Get out that box of your grandparents turn of the century images and have at it! There are lots of extra goodies included too. An ai feature that allows you to take a portrait and bring it to life. I tried it with a baby picture. It looks like a short vintage video but spooky real. But bottom line, if you have boxes or trunks full of photos that are collecting dust, don’t have friends or family clamoring to inherit them, you can save them digitally while you are downsizing and purging. OH, and another thing. If you are really getting your geek on, there is a NEGATIVES setting. Got old negatives from God knows where? This feature (with a light board and careful framing with your phone) will capture the image and recover something you thought you would have to spend more $$ on at a photo processing store. Can’t wait to see what features they add. There is more, but these are the things I use the most.. Thanks, Photomyne for helping me organize my overwhelming pile of memories.
Heavy User. It is important that Photomyne incorporate labels with a photo (instead of being in an added field) or provide a choice to the customer as to where the label is placed (current field or with the photo) because when a folder is loaded onto (transferred) a computer, the labels load but as a separate field. A second complaint is that after a folder is made, photos or slides within that file are not easily manipulated. Memories and events are impossible to scan in perfect order. If they could be easily rearranged, this App would serve a greater service. In general, Photomyne does a poor job of explaining to the end user the total capacity of the APP. The company is too busy selling rather than making available a simple 1,2 ,3 step tutorial (which can be on an additional App or incorporated early, at the top, of the opening page. Because no clear explanation is available, users time is lost by trial and error. People no longer display the patience required to redeem every good and bad aspect of the APP by being willing to do a deep dive learning curve. If you make it simpler and give easy complete directions, you will see the paid customer base double!
Impressed!. I cannot say just how much I love this app. It is so easy to create digital images from still photos. My mom passed away unexpectedly several years ago and we hadn’t taken time to go through her pictures until a recent scare with hurricane Helene and the thought of loosing those precious memories in an instant. I got my moms pictures and quickly starting dry them and start the process of sorting them for myself and siblings. I told my husband that I wished I could get them converted to digital copies so that we could all have a copy, but also to preserve them in the event of property loss situation. I then found this app, and downloaded it to try, and was immediately impressed! I scanned pictures for hours and told all my family about it. I purchased the membership to be able to enjoy all the benefits and also took advantage of the prime day sales for accessories. I am excited to get the remainder of my moms, mine and my mother in laws pictures all digital! Thank you thank you! I will tell everyone I know about this wonderful app.
Connie G. I’ve really enjoyed using this app. My Mom passed away last August and have been going through her photos. Thousands of photos!! I’m saving them here a little a time and sharing them with family - many of whom have never seen the pictures. In fact my cousin had never seen her since divorced parents in a friendly photo before and when I shared it from this app to Facebook she messaged me that she cried when she saw it! I’m also finding family pictures from the Colorado River days and a mutual friend looking at the pictures I posted said he’s so happy to relive those days that brought so much joy in his younger years. So thank you for this wonderful way so save and share photos from the “old days!”
Learning curve, support lag. Honestly, I did not want to rate the app right now until I have had some chance to use it extensively. But the dialogue box kept popping up so I’ve decided to put up a review even though it’s likely premature. There is a learning curve on Photomyne if you want to create a slideshow. It is not straightforward. I ran into many obstacles. It is not possible to create a slide show on a desktop Mac as far as I can tell. You’ll need to use either an iPhone, or an iPad, which is less convenient in my opinion. Support is available via texting, but the answers, likely due to time change, is not back-and-forth. There’s a several hour lag in responses. The scanning of albums is very straightforward and is really great and the beauty of this app. I decided to sign up for the Life Time unlimited, which, in reality is 10 years not lifetime. They're pricing plans seem to change frequently. Overall, I’m happy but it’s been quite a learning curve. There are multiple steps involved if you want to create a slideshow from photos that have already been uploaded into albums.
I am loving this app!. I just downloaded it. I ran across it when I was planning on posting a picture of my dad on Facebook for Father’s Day. He has been gone since 1978 so all of my pictures of him are very old. I was able to import pictures I had already scanned to my phone a few years ago. I love that because I didn’t have to go find them and rescan them. One thing that really touched me, brought tears to my eyes and caused emotions of joy, sadness and other feelings that I’m not quite sure how to handle, was when I ran the live animation on him. I saw him move, smile, blink his eyes. You can only imagine how that made me feel! I haven’t seen him since I was 13 years old, I will be 60 this year! I highly recommend this app but be cautious if you run the live animation, because it can bring a lot of feelings that you may not be sure of.
Works great for photo albums except. Takes a a page of photos from an album, separates and enchanted beautifully. Saves tremendous amounts of time. My only issue having used it for days is using the pictures afterwards. All photos are placed into albums online then downloaded if desired onto your computer (for example). This process numbers the photos in each album starting at 1. Therefore the photo numbers are duplicated over and over. Deciding to move a photo to another album after downloading results in the inability to copy. On a Mac you don’t get the option to keep a dup photo number with a suffix. You have to rename the photos before copying. This is extremely time consuming. There are no options for file naming or numbering sequences. Online interface needs improvement
Photomyne is the BEST APP EVER!!!!. It’s exactly what I needed for years. I usually lay photos flat on my dinosaur scanner, go through the whole process of getting it to scan... wait for it wait for it.... oh good, it’s done. THEN get the scan onto Photoshop, & do the cutting, cropping & straightening & then saving each photo as a new JPEG file. 🤦♀️ So time consuming! The first time I tried Photomyne, I was floored at how fast it was. Then I stared in amazement as it went through each of the 9 small, 40 year old photos of baby pictures, & aligned each one, photo retouched it & made it its own file. All within seconds! The photo editing isn’t perfect, but it’s still impressive. This app will save me hours of boring work & let me move onto to the fun part of organizing & Photoshopping. I couldn’t be more more happy with it. Thank you Photomyne!!! (We’re also getting the slide app for my father-in-law who has a gazillion slides.🥰)
Beat App I Have Ever Purchased. I have downloaded so many free apps and purchased many as well. I was hesitant to pay for this app but my father-in-law is finishing a book on his life and needed some old pictures scanned for the publisher. Not only is it easy to scan a page of pictures with an old photo album, but the actual quality of the scan is better than the picture in many cases. We only needed 10 pictures but scanned over 100 in a short amount of time. You can scan the back and front and add text to explain who and what is happening in the pictures. It’s an incredible gift later for the grandkids (and there are many) because the photos can also be shared. The whole family was impressed with this app. Amazing job!!
Very well thought-out app!. Photomyne developers have really knocked it out of the park with the user-selected sharpening levels and accurate colorizing features. I’ve been using the app since about when it came out. It was good then - even better than Google’s version (which takes forever to use and isn’t as good as Photomyne in other ways) but since then they have improved it to a level that even the staunchest photo nerd will like. I scanned a tiny wallet photo I recently found of my father. The paper was old and it had creases across it from being folded - even though it was only 2.5 inches by 1.75 inches. It was taken when my Dad was about twelve years old - 1937. I can now expand the digital Photomyne version and see amazingly clear and sharp details of my Dad’s young face!! Five stars!!!
unbelievably great. Oh my heck, I never expected an app to be so easy and accurate to use. I can do multiple pictures at a time and they come out individually as if I did each one separately. I can color the black and white an they look just like they were taken in color. It is so easy to send the album up to google photos. Just select the photos you want and click on “send to google photos” and “poof” there they are. I tried a couple of other apps and there is too much you have to do with them, like move a circle to each corner rather than just scan and go with Photomyne. Another thing I love about Photomyne is you can just keep scanning until you are finished with the project and then save them all in its own album with just one click. Also , at this time they are gifting me with a phone holder that I can use for steadier scans. This will assist me in taking better pictures in the future. I scanned over 400 pictures by hand in a little over an hour because of the ability to scan more than one picture at a time. Well, as you can see, I am totally impressed with this app. You won’t be disappointed having to pay for the app, because you will be done scanning those old pictures that you have been putting off so quickly that you will say, ”what? I am done all ready, Sandy, go take some more pictures so that I can scan some more”! Richard Hollister
Great App!. I have been using this app for about 3 weeks now and absolutely love it! This app has taken many of the features of other apps and put them all in one program meaning that I no longer need to switch between programs to use a feature. I have been able to take all of my old photo albums & scan a full page at a time without needing to remove them from the album. Then, each of those photos are separately scanned on the app. The edit features work very well. If I want or need - I can send all of these scanned photos to the Google photo app, I can edit them, share them with others, create albums, and much more. I am very happy with this photo app and have recommended it to many friends.
My new scanning service. I have been scanning photos for decades and also used other services where I mail my photos in bulk to them and they scan and send them back. I thought that was the way to go but just decided to try Photomyne because friends have been raving about them. While skeptical of having to scan myself, I was wrong. I purchased the Photomyne tent, iPhone holder/arm accessory and paid the subscription service fee. Wow is this amazing. So easy, incredibly good quality (actually better than the scanning companies work I was mailing my photos too), and I can scan fast and have my photos digitized immediately. I love the ease of use and everything else. I’m also saving hundreds of dollars. Well done Photomyne. You are my new preferred scanning method.
Disappointed with Storage System. So far I have digitized photos, negatives and written materials. When you see the scans, they look great and have the things written on the back of them easily accessible. HOWEVER, if you try yo download them to anything other than google (say, your computer), the photos download in an inoperable zip file. If you download an individual photo (the app puts even 2 photos in a zip file), it will open, but no longer connects to the back of the photo. In other words, Photomyne is trying to trap you into using and paying for the app forever, which will undoubtedly collapse at some point in the future, leavening you with no access to your photos after expending a fair amount of time and energy on the project. Personally, I would be willing to pay a bit more for true and permanent access to my photos.
Digitize old photos/improve images/ Share. I ’ve gone from film to digital photography. Our physical Family photo albums can get lost or destroyed. My favorite feature is that with Photomyne I can open an album and photograph a whole page. Photomyne automatically separates the photos and enhances them. Then, there’s a place for comments and, each face can be identified. This allows me to search in all the photos in my scanned collection for those of a particular individual. Since the photos are now digital, you can take them with you on your devices (mine is an iPhone). Where ever you are having to sit, like medical offices or land, sea, or air transportation, it’s easy to view and edit, share or delete photos. It’s not a free app but, in my opinion, well worth the price. I love it!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have no Words. All these other reviews may seem like they really are just vouching for this app, trying to make it sound great. But I’ll tell you straight up, this is the best thing since sliced bread. I had an old picture on my wall, it happened to be of my grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, and great great great grandfather. So I scanned it (the picture was in B&W of course) and that was cool enough, to see the picture on my wall transform to digital form perfectly cropped, then it said I could colorize the photo. Initially I expected a cheesy idly colored disaster, ruining the beautiful picture as it was. But as I hit the colorize feature, the picture changed, and much for the better. I saw the colors come to life. All original, whether they were the real colors, well, I can’t tell. And that is just how good this app really is. If you have a prized possession of a picture, where there is only 1 print. Please get this, this was really epic. I also want to thank Photomyne for this. I really appreciate it.
They’ve dropped the feature for which I signed up.. I signed up just a few weeks ago. LOVED the app. I’m scanning OLD family pictures. When I signed up I could give folder or album access to family out of town or out of state. They could help with the identification of the people and setting and add that information. That capability has disappeared! Now when I choose to share, the app asks me to choose the individual photos I want to share. The collaboration feature is gone. I can do what is does now by just using email. The app has quickly gone from being the most useful I could imagine to being absolutely worthless to me. I want my money back. I’ll download my scans to date then find another or just work with my scanner and email. I couldn’t be more disappointed. I just checked their update history. An update two weeks ago removed the feature I absolutely need. They then have the gall to call that removal an upgrade.
Photomyne is the best photo scanning tool I’ve ever used.. This app is great! It is effortless. Place the pictures in a grid in any orientation and scan. The app does the rest. It took me just minutes to get familiar with how it works. It’s so easy! I was going to bite the bullet and pay a service to scan these hundreds of pictures and it was going to be expensive! Not only will I be able to scan my own pictures but I can add information for each picture right with it! I know about 90% of the people in these pictures have a pretty good idea of their time taken but I’m the last person who knows this information. If something happened to me or these pictures before I got this done all of this important family information would be lost!!!!
Easy peasy. I never ever rate an App because, at least in my opinion once I download the App, it did not do what they claimed it could, but this one is different. App does exactly what it claims it can do; it’s pretty easy to use and directions are in layman terms. The first time you play around with this App, it will create an album (which you could always re-name and date). Love that you can line up a bunch of pictures and after it scans, it crops, clears and separates each as a new photo. Also while playing around with App, I found it can work as a camera too and does the same functions as it would with scanned pictures. The ONLY THING TO REMEMBER while you are playing around and testing this App, make sure you tap on the album you want pix to go into FIRST before scanning new pictures, otherwise you’ll have a bunch of new albums for each pix you take/scan & I have not found how to move pix from one album into another but I’m sure I will figure it out eventually. That’s it, very easy and App delivers as promised. If down the line, something changes in a negative way, I will change my recommendation, but for now it’s all good!!
Not there yet. I appreciate the effort but it is not there yet. AI engine needs more training. It gets confused if I scatter the photos randomly on a table - it cannot detect the edges of the photos; and gives a wrong mix, some photos are combined into one, and other photos are split into two photos. Even if I line up the photos carefully with distinct gaps separating photos it sometimes fails to detect edges correctly. At other times it works fine. The app is pricey too. I do not like the subscription model. With one time payment options I can purchase only upto 2 years. Recurring price of $10/mo adds up very quickly, and I am wondering if it would be lot cheaper to take shoebox full of prints to a local photo scanning service and have them digitize all for a one time fixed cost? Or even buy a photo scanner for a fixed one time cost? The freemium version is useless since it saves in low quality.
love it so far. I’m 74 looking to have a knee replacement in January and needed a good none physical activity to keep me occupied . I decided to organize my photos. I just found this app and so far I am impressed. Especially the ability to down load pics from my phone directly to my iPad. Very user friendly. I spent about 30 minutes scanning photos from my childhood album. Within an hour I was able to email a video of 100 photos to all of family. Pretty impressive. The app automatically improves the images and you can still decide on features like sharpening a persons face. My photos are old so they can use all the help they can get. You can name or add a story to a picture. I haven’t figured out how to share or print the added pic stories. But I’m sure it’s there. , My only complaint is the small area the app gives to type in the words. I wish I could expand it to be able to see it better. I work on my IPad Pro. So far I think for the price it’s pretty darn easy and worth the $$ Now 7 months later I don’t know how I lived without. There’s definitely a learning curve. I just wish there was a way to upload photos onto one of the online photo books to print for my family.
Much better photos than my print scanner creates. I have personally recommended this app to so many people working on genealogy. It is so easy to use, and the quality of the scans is much better than those I get from my printer/scanner. I have found two challenges using the app. The first is not the fault of the app, it’s that taking photos in ambient light requires finding a place where you can hold your phone over the photos without casting a shadow on them while scanning. Second, while I love that you can scan writing on the back of the photo and attach it to the image, I find it inconvenient to have to always leave the scanning part of the app, find the image in its album, and then scan the back of the image at the same time. I assume it is because the front and back scans are saved to different kinds of file types. I have learned to scan a number of images first, then go to the album and scan all the backs afterwards. You just have to be very careful to scan the back to the correct photo. It would be easier if I had the option to scan the back immediately after the front If you work with scanning photos for family history I really recommend Photomyne!
Gets the job done. I was able to scan in multiple vintage photos while visiting my in-laws over the holidays. They aren’t perfect, since I was in a hurry, but are close enough. The ability to attach the info that’s often written on the back of a photo is very helpful. My only issue was the reflection of my phone. Under better lighting it would have worked great but I was in a hurry to scan as many as I could. In the past I’ve used flatbed scanners to scan hundreds of photos in a day or so. Usually before a funeral or anniversary. This method is so much easier. As a plus for me, no sore shoulder from the repetitive movevent. I also like that it doesn’t take up room on my hard drive during the process.
Works best of any archival photo program. I am very impressed. I have a HUGE number of family photos to scan. It has been a very slow process using a flat bed scanner and I have not been able to add any notes. Using Photomyne, I can scan multiple photos at once, add comments and it all saves to the cloud. I can download photos from the album there into my phone so I can move them to an iCloud album. I will eventually download them to my PC so I can burn them to multiple DVDs for family members. I have a tripod that will hold the phone so I can capture the photos at the correct angle. Photomyne is the ideal software for not only scanning a lot of photos, but just the occasional scan. Like you might be working on family tree stuff. It doesn’t have to be a photo, just anything scannable. UPDATE: August 1,2021 Still the best. Have not had any glitches. Using iPhone 6S+
Very easy to scan photos in bulk. It easily scans many photos concurrently from a single page in album. It restores /revives colors to faded colored photos. It can colorize b&w photos too, though several times it didn’t colorize to color I remember for clothes in photograph. It can improve on sharing - specially for sharing whole album- it still asks to select each photo instead of ‘select all ‘ option if we want to share whole album. At times, it scans and breaks/crops photos based on lines /angular forms of objects in photos . For eg if a door frame is in photo, it will split photo into 2, one with human figure and another on other side of door frame. Logic to crop a picture into 2 needs to be refined.
Best App for photo capture. I just took pics of my wedding album from 1983… almost 40 years ago!! The photos are absolutely AMAZING!!!! This will allow me to share our precious memories with friends and family!! And I just did a collage on Snapfish for a 20 x 24 size canvas print… I look forward to to seeing the canvas in a few weeks!! I also have lots of albums since the birth of my twins who are 30 years old now!! I am on book #3 and it will take a long time to complete, but I love the results of the quality of the 4x6 pics!! The glare is an issue sometimes, but I will continue to work around that (depends on time of day that I am using the app)!! UPDATE: the 20 x 24 canvas was FABULOUS… THANK YOU PHOTOMYNE!!
Truly AMAZING!. I’ve had this app for less than a week and I’ve scanned in nearly 2,000 pictures, just scanning while I watch TV in the evening. It’s intuitive and EASY! I’m scanning all kinds of pictures, from the 1920’s to current and it handles them all well. It’s amazing how some of the pictures are better AFTER I scan them. I upgraded to the family plan and the siblings are enjoying seeing all the old family photos. I also am VERY pleased with the support. I’ve had a couple questions along the way and they are responsive and helpful. Wish I had done this years ago. I freed up a lot of closet space! There are a couple things I wish it did easier or settings I wish I could adjust, but for the price I have no complaints at all.
This App is amazing!. I was searching for an app that would make scanning and restoring my old family photos easy. I was using my printer scanning 1 photo at a time, then using a photo editing program that took up to several minutes to use. I have over 1000 old family photos and I knew it would take me months to do them all. I am simply amazed with PHOTOMYNE! I can scan several photos at once and it auto restores each picture and saves them separately as an individual scan. The only bad thing I can say is that I wish there were more free features, however to be honest this is one of those rare times I really don’t mind paying for the premium version! Everyone needs this app especially if you have old photos that are at risk of fading and being lost forever!
User friendly but needs some fixing. Hey there!!So I just started using this app for the first time. It's pretty easy to get around and nice to use. The price isn't too bad, I think, but it depends on how many old pictures you want to scan. You can move or put your scanned photos right into Google Photos, which is cool. But there's a problem. Like, I scanned 75 old photos and tried to move them to Google Photos. Not all of them made it over. If you're not careful, you might lose 6, 10, or even more photos during the transfer. The weird thing is, the Photomyne app tells you all 75 photos went through, but they didn't. I tried to fix it by deleting photos from Google Photos and moving them again, but it kept happening. Because of this, I'd give it 2 stars out of 5 (1 for being easy to use, 1 for the photo improvement option).|
1.5 stars. During the trial phase, this app worked like a wonder. Even in dim yellow light, it cropped, sharpened the images, and autocorrected the lighting. I paid for it, and things went downhill 90 degrees. I tried putting the photos in light, dark, and neon colored backgrounds, and still, the pics were getting cut all funky, on top of having the backgrounds taking up a chunk of the photos’ spaces. Nothing was auto adjusted anymore, the images come out blurry. If I would have known, I definitely wouldn’t have paid for this. I used white light, natural light, yellow light, positioned the pictures in all sorts of ways, and nope, they still came out bad. I hate writing negative reviews, but well, I have to because I’m so angry. If it wasn’t for the fact that I have thousands of old photos, I’d use this FREE app that takes longer, but works far better. I followed the Instructions by the developer(s) to the T and nope, doesn’t work well still. I read the negative reviews and when it came to people talking about quality, the developer denies any issues with the app. Nothing is perfect, and we are just giving you honest reviews to help you improve. Have some humility seriously.
Waste of my time. Do not download this app. I spent over two hours pulling photos and scanning them. Tried to save them to send to my son and the app requires an upgrade. You have to pay to save your photos that you paid to develop. I could have just taken a picture with my phone and been very happy. I downloaded the app because I thought it would save time scanning two at a time. Response- the description says to try the app out then decide if you want to upgrade. The information about having to buy a premium upgrade is 3/4 off the way through the description. So someone try the app, decides to save what they have scanned so far into a current album and is immediately blocked by the app with the requirement to purchase a premium upgrade. THEN. . . the app puts a watermark over my photo so I can’t view it or remove the watermark without buying a premium upgrade. YOU CAN DO BETTER. “Premium upgrade purchase required to use the app” should be the first thing consumers see.
Absolutely wonderful APP!. I can’t say enough about how wonderful this app is! I’ve had a photo project that I started two years ago - to make a family photo book for my siblings. I stumbled upon Photomyne and I am absolutely in love with this app! I had been scanning old photos on my printer to my computer to print out and make these books. It was time consuming and I sort of gave up halfway through. After discovering this app I scanned them all in one day! I bought the clicker that goes with it as well as the stand to mount your phone. I could not believe how fast it went! Slide a photo over, click, and slide the next over. It was so exciting! The best part is that it clarifies the images so they are sharper and clearer than the original, especially if it’s an older black and white or fuzzy picture. I truly couldn’t believe it. It also gives the option to turn black and white into color! What could be better. If I could rate it 100 stars, I would! You will not be disappointed if you buy this app.
My Photomyne App. I accidentally fell upon this app an early morning on a Sunday because it popped up on my phone. This Photomyne App is the best because i am not tech savy but using my iphone it was so easy and almost like a godsend. It helped me restore a completely damaged picture of my grandmother. Her name was Esperanca De Jesus which means Hope of Jesus and she died at 19 years of age of Tuberculosis when my father was an 11 mth old baby. This was the only black and white severely damaged photocopy of a picture i had of her. This app within seconds restored this picture added color and helped me remember her and honor her as i should. It allowed me to add a beautiful cursive memorial to her by suggesting it. So easy, so fun, so impressive, so important. Thank you Photomyne for helping me restore and preserve my Grandmother’s story, life, and legacy. Even though i never met her she was my first guardian angel around me and my father our entire lives from birth till well you know ….. Love, Love this app
Great app for importing and managing photos. I purchased this app because I’m old and have hundreds of old photos I would like to preserve electronically. Pricey, but the more I use the app, the more features I’ve discovered and now feel it’s worth the cost. I also bought a photo tent and camera stabilizing arm, which has greatly improved scanned photos. A towel over the top of the box is necessary to avoid “phone” shadows from overhead light. Features I especially like are multiple albums, ability to transfer photos between albums, to rearrange photos, to produce slide shows with music and share collages, and the excellent sharpening of fuzzy faces. One negative is the company’s data collection, and I may not renew if there isn’t better assurance of privacy protection. Another feature I would like, which may be available but I haven’t figured out, is how to send a collage of pictures with captions for a printable soft-bound paper book of a special event (wedding, memorial, graduation, etc.) that could be provided to guests/friends/relatives.
Photomyne’s little iPhone app is the best!!!. I was unable to see the “Save Photos” download button on Photomyne’s website. After spending $60 on this app, adding 47 albums and 2500 photos to this app, this was very distressing to me. I loved the promise for saving my albums and photos for 10 years, and the excellent editing options, but was frustrated by not being able to download it. Over the next 5 days, through the weekend, and at off-hours, Lara would email me questions, and try her best to problem solve. Found out that my browser (Chrome) was not compatible with the Photomyne website, and by switching to Safari (on my Mac), I was able to see the button. But more importantly, the iPhone app was more robust in all ways, than the Photomyne website. All good learning, thanks to Lara and Photomyne!!! I am so appreciative for this wonderful app and now I can share my daughter’s childhood as she prepares for her wedding!
Old photos look amazing!. I am the holder of our family photos, but holding the only copy, I wanted to make it more accessible to my family and myself. The auto crop feature works better than any other app I’ve tried using, auto removing the orange fade on photos from the 70’s and 80’s helps me see things I’ve never seen before! I’m tagging our pets, and I wish they auto captured them, as they are part of our family too, but I can manually do it. I only wish I could get it into google photos with details, like I can on my device. And I also wish I could only share certain albums with certain people. Because my family doesn’t need my husband’s family and Vice versa. But it’s totally worth the monthly fee, in my opinion!
Great app.. My 71-yr-old hands are a bit shaky, so I bought an adjustable phone holder for stability and clarity. Worked wonders. Since our internet speed is a little slow out here in rural Idaho, give your app time to work and don’t expect instant uploading. I do a batch of about 50 photos, then make sure my phone is plugged in while uploading, then go outside to enjoy country living. After uploads are complete, I sort the uploaded photos on my desktop and share the link with family members. Take the time to make a brief description of the photo. You may know what it is, but after you’re gone no one else may be around to fill in the blanks. I then make family videos out of downloaded images using Camtasia. As for this app, it really beats trying to scan photos on my printer scanner. Not having much luck scanning slides. Need a backlight of some kind. Still, I love all the features. I highly recommend this app.
Needs 1 improvement!. PLEASE do away with the 3 second pop up that verifies an action just taken in the app. For example, after deleting a scan an oval shaped bubble that says “deleted” will remain on the screen, with ZERO way to dismiss it. The same exact thing occurs every time I finish scanning a photograph. The oval bubble pops up saying “Added to album” and stays there for 3 long seconds. The entire phone screen is incapacitated during those 3 seconds and although it may not seem like a long time, it DEFINITELY adds up quickly when scanning a large number of photographs. It is absolutely maddening to have to constantly wait for the pop up to go away after every single photo is scanned or other action is taken.
Buyer Beware. Tried to sign up for the 7 day free trial for this app and immediately started running into problems. First, the app application came up and said it was only a three day free trial. Red flag, minor bait and switch. When I tried to access the app, after I gave my billing info, it told me to log in. Problem number 2. The app did not take me through a process to set up a log in. When I tried to get a login for my account it gave me the message account not found. Fortunately, I kept all my email replies and was able to “cancel” my subscription. No refund on the “processing fee” however. Problem number three. When I tried to get through to customer service my only option was conversing with an AI bot that could not understand what the problem was. When I tried to get thru to a human being, or some facsimile thereof, but a got a message that CSR is not available outside of 9AM to 6AM UTC. Transposed to American that means they are only available between 11:00AM and 2:00PM EST. In other words three hours a day, if you can even get through. So, buyer beware
All about best photo scanning. This is a best photo scanning app It scans very quick more than that scanned photo colorization in one click nearly perfect color colorization off black and white photo App allows to organize photo in desirable albums There is a cloud storage also many options to share photo Very reliable no crashing app It is worth it to have in your phone Photomyne is the best photo scanning app I found in apps store after trying quite a few Scanning results is picture perfect no color loss Developer also introduced new app which is also very good app to scanning color negative..results is impressive but after few update will become like Photomyne There are also few important tool in Photomyne app like photo print In short I recommend all if you see interest in the app simply just buy it..you will be happy once you learned how to run using all tools Don’t wait buy it👍
Game Changer. I downloaded the app and tried the trial version first. From the different options available, I manipulated several photos plus some old negatives. I have no reservation to say that I am so impressed. I have been looking for so long until I finally found this app. The scanning is fast, easy and accurate. Ease of use and photo editing capabilities are excellent. I will definitely recommend Photomyne to whoever is looking for a professional and complete photo software application. In addition when I contacted their customer service to inquire about accessories and their occasional promotions I found their customer service so caring and helpful. They answered all questions with patience and in professional manner. What more could you ask for in an app like this. Really a great tool.
Helped a lot when scanning pages of photos. I had put together photo albums from our families photos about 20 years ago. I put multiple photos on one page and had glued them down and placed them within a plastic sleeve. Ugh! To scan all those photos would have been a nightmare. I just pulled each page of photos up out of the plastic and used this app to photograph the entire page. It takes each picture and alters the color and save it as each image rather than the whole page. Super time consuming so far I’ve done the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, on to the 90’s next. I love having them on my phone too. So after using Photomyne to scan and save to my phone, I open my Google photos and back them up. It’s fantastic! Plus, so old photos I had had the orange and purple tinge to them and this app removes the awkward coloring! Thank you Photomyne!!
Incredible Photo Scanning App. Photomyne is a super useful solution to scan old photos. We had over 200 family photos dating back to 1938. Some were damaged, faded, curled. Photomyne was able to scan them in, auto-detect the photo portion of the image and save them into an album. I used the convenient voice “Go” command to initiate scans as I held the iPad/iPhone squarely over the image sizing it to maximum for best resolution. The app can actually scan multiple photos at once and separate them all into individual captured photos but I chose one at a time for best results. For some of the black and white photos I used the app’s one-step Colorization feature and the results were truly amazing. Incredible detail shows up in the scanned photos since the app also enhances the image it scans. I used the image titling option to add notes from the back of some of the original photos. I exported all to the iOS Photos app and saved them as JPEG files for backup. App is a little pricy but worth it. Wish there was an option to not include the Photomyne logo on photos I added titles to.
Amazing technology!. I had thousands of printed photos to convert to digital. Originally, I purchased an automated scanner that fed printed photos into a high speed scanner. That worked great right up to the point that I got to my older photos which were glued to the album and impossible to remove or scan. Then I found this app which scanned an entire page of photos, automatically separated each image, knew which side was up, enhanced the photos, optionally colorized them, and put them right into Google Photos. Easy to download the images if you want to import them into Apple Photos, although that took several steps (but it was simple to do). This app made it possible to digitize entire albums in minutes! Amazing quality even when originals were faded yellow and copying them through the plastic album insert. You just have to position them so there was no glare from the overhead light. Absolutely amazing!
Time consuming, NOT a free app. The app appears free, but in order to save many photos to your device, you must upgrade to a subscription. The initial price point is just to download the app. To save more than a couple photos to your device, you must subscribe to the app. It’s a time consuming process to scan your photos due to the abundant amount of pop ups any time you complete a single option. Each time you save a photo and attempt to view or edit it, you must wait through multiple pop ups of “photo successfully saved” and “your album is complete.” You cannot skip these pop ups, and there is no “ok” button to make them go away. You have to wait for each pop up to disappear on its own. Although only a fraction of a second long, the waiting time for the pop ups to disappear will add 10-15 minutes to the process if you’re scanning lots of photos. Photo quality is better than a few other apps I have tried, but still subpar without very steady hands. If you take a shaky photo, good luck wading through the 5 different panels in order to get to the delete option. Would not recommend for anyone who struggles with hand tremors. Altogether the app provides a misleading price point as well as a time consuming process. For a quicker, more easily navigated app: try Google Scan.
Gets slower with use. I was so excited when I first downloaded Photomyne that I went right for a 5 year membership. The “samples” I started with turned out wonderful! A few weeks later I put it to the test with over 400 photos. The first few were fast to crop and the voice feature worked slick. As I added photos, the cropping took longer and the voice feature occasionally worked. The most I added to an album was 150 pictures and it turned into a slow process. The quality was nice, but I ended up buying a light box so I didn’t have to rely on the natural lighting to avoid glares. I’m about 2/3 of the way through the stack and I’m frustrated with how slow it is to crop and the voice feature doesn’t work very often. I found it was faster to hold the button for 3 seconds than say “go” 5 times in a row. I am using and iPhone XR running iOS 14.
These are my photos. Photomyne scans the photos really well. Mine ran a little darker than the original, but that’s fixable and probably due to bad lighting on my end. So the service is amazing until you try to back up your photos. I’m on a quest to get ALL of my photos on one hard drive. From there, I’ll share via USB to family. Photomyne has a SHARE button. This is very easy to use. Select your album or your individual photos and BAM! Sent via email(that’s all I’ve used) very easily. The photos download so that you open them in Photomyne. I don’t want to open them in Photomyne. I want MY pictures downloaded without having to report to the mother ship. So you have to tap on each picture, click on Save Image As and download ONE BY ONE. Photomyne, these photos are mine.I need you to help me get photos from albums and negatives to a digital form. I thank you for your help, but now you have to let go—of MY photos—and let them go easier and faster than one. photo. at a time. 🤦♀️

absolutely phenomenal. I never spend the time to leave reviews on apps even if I’m really invested into them or like them a lot however this app is absolutely remarkable, some features are hidden away behind a subscription paywall however all the main features such as scanning, and all detailed cropping are all free and the app is completely useable without the subscription, while saving and sharing the photos you have taken is locked behind the subscription of the app, screenshooting the picture is always an option and still looks great, overall amazing app and I will consider using the full services this app provides.
Great app. This app is fantastic for organizing your old hard copy photos. It can take up to 6 photos in one shot and then save them individually. Heaps of enhancement options. You can add text and other details as a database so that all your photos can be presented date/year, location, person in the photos. We have done this with old photos dating back to 1924 and can now share them with other family members for them to choose which ones they want to keep. Really easy to use.
Fantastic app. This app is so easy to use. The best feature is how it magically removes the shine so many other apps don't. It not only restores your old photos, you can save them to named folders, label individual photos, crop, options to enhance photos further, post straight to social media, share with family & friends or save to computer or phone. It really is simple, just point & shoot.
It’s okay. It is fine to use but no better than just taking a photo with your phone camera. You still need to ensure the lighting is correct so there is no glare. The restore function, which you have to pay for and is still in beta mode, is rubbish. It gives everyone blue eyes and changes facial features. I haven’t restored one image yet to my satisfaction. Until you can perfect this option it should be free with a feedback option so the AI software can learn.
Saving memories. This app is easy to use to sort, label and share all those photos you have sitting in old albums in the cupboard. The chat support online is excellent as well - they were even happy to chat about things the app can do before I downloaded it (complete with instructions). Finally I’m getting rid of all those deteriorating albums, saving space and saving my memories.
Speedy way to digitise large numbers of photos. Great app, great filters, and auto cropping of multiple are great. The best way to digitise an album fast. Option to scan backs of photos, add notes and voice memos is nice touch. Opportunities to be better? Add glare removal option like Google Photo scan. It takes longer but for special photos that you want higher quality, this would be great. And better syncing with google photos: ideally allow you to toggle an album and it would keep it in sync with a google album automatically. Today you have to guess which ones are backed up and which not, made harder by the fact they’re in different orders.
Mission is to sort 70 years of photos. I am only brand new to this ap but already I am wrapped This chore or sorting through all my photos has been on my mind for some time but each time I have started I have given up I finally think I have found my solution I will keep you posted . I am in my 70’s but have been easily able to follow the instructions so far Well Done
Why???. This app is great for the first few photos but then its pretty much is useless after the watermark pops up and like seriously guys I’m trying to capture my family moments not advertise your company. I can no longer show my family those photos because your water mark is all over the photo I can’t even see any faces or anything because of it. And every single feature needs premium and it’s literally so over priced it’s nearly $70 aud for 1 year of premium and u get 3 days free there’s just no point you would think if you make an app so you can cherish those valuable moments and save to your device you would think they would let you instead of charging you $70 for an app you probably won’t even use that much but the photos are good but that’s it. PLEASE make premium features unlock or something like watch an ad and get 1 hour premium or something PLEASE!!!!
Not Free. Hey, Apple - Why are you advertise this App as Free when you only offer 3 days free? Just asking because I downloaded it because it’s a fabulous product but have not got 3 days up my sleeve - I may download later but please don’t advertise as a free Apple product when it’s not - it annoying. Don’t get me wrong looks a great product but seriously …..
Fantastic App. This is a great app to quickly digitise your photos. Easy to use, practically error free and quick. I’ve used it on all sizes of photos, even album pages where the photos can’t be removed without damage. It takes a little bit of practice to deal with shadows and shine but well worth it. Highly recommended.
Great for the first 5 minutes. I started scanning the first few images, great start, was able to look at them and save them to my camera roll. I thought awesome! I’ll scan another 100 photos….by the time I got to the end I then needed to purchase the full app version to save them. This was only a once off project for my grandma’s old photos I don’t need to do that so I’m sure I can just screen shot all the photos. Great. Start screenshotting the images. Go back to the camera roll in the app and all of a sudden they all have water marks all over them. What a waste of time and effort. Completely unnecessary and gives you a false idea of a “free” app when as soon as you start using it you will be charged to go any further. Don’t bother.
Useful app, but missing integration with Apple Photos. Pics look quite good, cropping works well, good options now to scan documents and whole pages (scrapbook mode). What’s really missing though is a smooth integration with Apple Photos App, only has import to Google Photos and I definitely want to stay away from that! If that’s available it would get 5 stars and I might even buy the yearly subscription…
A great way to digitise any photos. I got Photomyne as I looked at a lot of albums and did not want to use a scanner. We love it and are going through each photo in each album and easily with a glass of wine! A great way to reminisce and start great conversations about “... I forgot all about that holiday/Birthday/sailing trip etc I highly recommend it What is great is that we can easily go to any folder and send an email or text to anyone. A really big fan!!!
Saving photos. I enjoyed the app for about a day. Being able to scan my old and new polaroids was great. The quality of the photos are amazing. But I am extremely mad that your watermark is there. This is my photo, I should be able to save MY photo, you can change premium to get all the other features but having to pay ridiculous prices per year if you JUST want to save the photos is unacceptable. Please allow us to save the photos. Even if you have to watch an ad after or before saving the photo. I want to share these photos with people NOT advertise your company. Please lift the barrier off saving photos, it’s ridiculous.
Fantastic!. This is one of the best apps ever. I have photographed my parents' photographs and it has saved me hours editing the edges. The "diamond" sharpie for faces is also amazing - it really works! I have also used the colourise option, which works on improving the colour of faded colour photos as well as true black and whites. Well done and a BIG thank you to the team! Gail
Support provided. I received mixed messages that my App subscription had expired - when I thought I had subscribed for 5 years. Lara answered my questions promptly, politely and showed me in the app how to check my subscription details and subscription period. As a family - we have had fun reviewing and scanning thousands of photos. Next job taking the time to put them into names files. Thank you - loving the app and have recommended to others.
Incredibly simple, incredibly powerful.. Looking to scan in all those old photo albums? This is the app for you. It is so simple to use and it’s ability to restore photos is exceptional. I also have a subscription to Photoshop - and know how to use it - but always choose this app in preference as it is so fast and convenient. It is a bargain.
Brilliant App. I highly recommend this app. It is easy to use with excellent features. The family tree function is brilliant and works well with the folder system. It is super fast, easy and intuitive. The purchasable accessories are also good and do exactly what they describe. It’s well worth getting the phone holder and shooting tent to make your digitising process even easier. Well done Photomyne. I look forward to seeing the future developments of this app. The AI functions already included are fabulous. I am enjoying bringing the past alive.
Photomyne is a great app for scanning and keeping old photos. This app was really useful for me to scan in thousands of old photos and allowed me to get rid of dozens of albums of physical photos I am so glad I no longer have to deal with many heavy boxes when moving house. You can scan in 2 or 3 photos at once and it will cut them into individual ones. You can also scan the back of a photo and then flip it so it behaves like the original. You can save to your photo library and/or share with others via a link. There is a yearly fee, about $AUD70 but it’s reasonable for what you get. Highly recommended.
Photomyne is easy to use. I’ve been using Photomyne for several months now. It is very easy to use. The lighting is important to get right to prevent reflections off the prints so I have created a little support frame and use a portable LED bed-light to aluminate the photos with soft light. The voice activated scan feature allows me to rapidly place photos into the frame in quick succession. I can scan a 36 roll in about 2 or 3 minutes. The quality is great. I’ve used selected photos of our working holiday in Jamaica in a hard copy book from one of the digital suppliers and the quality of the prints is very close to original at that level of resolution. I can highly recommend it.
Fantastic ap. I have to rate this ap because they keep bugging me to do so, which is very annoying. However, it's a very good ap and does everything it says on the box. Two things to note. Firstly there’s an AI option that is AMAZING at making old photos as new, but you only get a couple of free changes, then you have to pay. Also it can totally change people faces. Secondly the subscription rate has just doubled. I will not be renewing.
deceving Money Grab / Deleting review ?. Firstly, i already wrote a review but cannot find it, was it deleted ? I used to use this app years ago, Only to find out now it’s subscription based. I can’t access my old photos without subscribing. Great! they offer a 3 day free trial under the YEARLY sub, if you choose monthly you will be instantly charged the month. All under their sneaky deceiving money grabbing tactics. You cannot restore purchases as app says “you must log in” although i’m logged in. If you want to try this app under the free trial. No one if their right mind is going to sign up to a yearly subscription to try a free trial because of the extreme price, leading you to obviously go with the month and try the free trial. BE WARE!!! UPDATE: developer contact me to say “month doesn’t include free trial as stated” although it doesn’t state on the app. ALSO looking at other reviews it’s obvious this is their deceiving tactic as a lot of people fall for this. SCUM! Completely brushed over how this is now a PAID subscription app. When it used to be FREE. SCUM! Completely brushed over how you cannot restore purchases and the button leads to nowhere SCUM
Photomyne. Great system. Will save you heaps of time. A couple of suggestions to those seeking the very best outcome. It will take a bit more time but the results are worth it. It’s very convenient to be able to copy multiple photos off an album page. However, I strongly suggest that you do lift any protective shield unless it is perfectly flat and does not have any ripples. Secondly, copy each picture separately. The results are so much sharper because less enlargement takes place. The resulting photos are not nearly as grainy as when you copy a “batch” of photographs. Make sure that the edges are parallel. I also highly recommend that you experiment with the excellent editing feature. Old black and white photos can be greatly enhanced by using one of the many effects but I suggest that you do try and get a consistent effect rather than changing to a different one each time. Now is a good time to zoom in and crop out stuff you don’t need around your subject. Take your time doing this, don’t rush it and ENJOY.
Quite brilliant!. Over the years my wife and I collected thousands of photographs of the children growing up, family events and holidays. They must’ve been contained in about 30 large photo albums. I thought I would select a few from each album and have them professionally digitised so we could make one or two albums Then I found a Photomyne! Absolutely brilliant! So easy to use. Within a few months I’d digitised over 6,000 photos easily filed by year. The clarity and quality are outstanding enabling me, as an absolute amateur, to easily make digitised photo albums for my kids covering their lives from birth to adulthood. Not only are all my photos on my iPhone and iPad, but Photomyne enabled me to put all the photos onto the web so my extended family can access all the 6,000 digitised photos. Now I’m starting to digitise my old slides on SlideScan another brilliant product from the great people at Photomyne—who are so helpful. Highly, highly recommend!
Works better than i could imagine. This app has made what i expected to be a difficult process extremely easy. Whats more is the result and quality had been fantastic. I initially had trouble with lighting on high sheen photographs which would result in some reflection. Not the fault of the app but i found limiting direct light sources and sitting in a dark room got a good result and the app would adjust the image to naturally brighten the image. Very well executed
Reliving Memories with ease.. Has been an absolute delight using this fabulous app to bring our old memories (slides) back to life. Being able to share these beautiful memories with extended family, and with other people from our past is brilliant. Have been able to gift some memories to people who have lost touch with those long gone.. grateful to have found this app. So easy to use. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wally McLeod. Great app and I have repaired some extremely damaged photos with it. I gave it five before but to access photos from photo library is a nightmare and when you manage to get them into the app parts of the original photos have been cut out, top and bottom and sides!!! Seems easier now to access photos since the last update! It’s now really improved with easy access and pretty good at turning really old rough photos into a lot better images
Steve. Brinks life to old photos and scans multiple in seconds I’m 72 years old and I’ve been looking for a good way to store thousands of photos cards and slides of family and friends, I bough an expansive scanner it scans very good but it dose not colourise sharpen or despecle old photos I have to use photoshop for that This App dose it all, it scans multiple images and it cuts them with one click I scanned 280 images for a family member in 20 minutes and that is the very first time I used it And that is not all, so many other features in the App I could take an hour to mention To you people out there looking in the reviews so you can desire, trust me and GET THIS ONE you will love it And NO I’m not related to the developers in any way, nor did I get paid for this review. Now I have to go and finish my family tree in the App, yes that is in there as well. Cheers
Perfect Isolation work. Sorting and scanning all my hard copy pre -electronic photos for my family. Have many thousands of photos that will now be there for my children and grandchildren. Photomyne is super for this. My personal website is available now with all these photos neatly sorted into albums and people tagged for easy searching and reference. The family are loving this.
App review. Great app but too expensive for membership and you have to pay extra forAI restore function. When you use the Ai restore but if you don’t like the output, You still have used up a credit whether you like it or not. Think you should give the end user the opportunity to review if they like it or not then take the credit if they choose to do so.
Great App. Have been using this app for sometime and I just love it. It does cost about $Au30 a year, which is a bit pricey if you’ve scanned a lot of your photos already. But I find I’m now scanning old documents as well. Best thing I’ve scanned are the ridiculously tiny photo proofs from my wedding in 1985. I now have full size photos that I can print 😀 Be careful of lighting it can pick up on shadows, but once you’ve worked it out it’s great.
Improving but the new AI features require some human memory guidance.. I have been using Photomyne for years and still do. All incremental improvements are welcome. AI is good but could be a lot better if a facility for user input was (optionally) available to further tune-up the results. For example, many of us can remember some fine details such as colours of clothing, or even the carpet in old B&W photos. Some prompting input and maybe a few iterations/result options are likely to lead to improved results. Some enhancement features are now paid for so more is expected of the product.
Photomyne. Very easy to use. Produces terrific results. Ideal way to share memories when children leave the nest. My wife and I are in our 81st year and being able to bring all the old family photos together revives wonderful memories. Thank you to the creators of this app. Last evening our family came together for our Easter Celebration. I showed my adult daughters how to access Photomyne on their devices and the joyful conversation that followed when discussing the various photographs was a highlight of our time together. Thanks again Photomyne.
Time saver, memory saver, life saver!. Best and most practical app out there. Lockdown has meant I’ve had plenty of time to sort through family photos and digitise memories. I am genuinely so impressed with the practicality of each of the app features. It has saved me so much time (the alternative was to manually scan all the tangible pics which would have been a nightmare) and preserved so many memories across generations. Thanks so much to the Photomyne team! From Melbourne, Australia.
The easiest photo scanning app ever!. This paid app is a bit $$ but I have to say it works incredibly well, is easy and the scanned photo results are impressive. From colouring old back and whites to improving clarity on more blurry photos…I’ve recommended this app to quite a few friends. So much easier than the slow scanners of old!
People say they can’t believe it…. A friend wanted to ‘fix up’ a photo for a big reunion, and I recommended Photomyne. He looked doubtful but said please try. Guess what his response was after Photomyne fixed his faded, washed out B&W photo? That’s right, he couldn’t believe it either. Clever app, let’s you export the photos after treatment so you can archive them. What is not to like?
Excellent App for Keepsakes. This is a fantastic app for storing and cataloging your family snaps. I have really appreciated the ability to scan entire pages of family photo albums and the apps ability to distinguish between different photos. It’s has saved me a lot of time. I have also found it useful as depository for family photos which I don’t own. Family members can be reluctant to have treasured family photos out of their sight, but this has enabled me to scan them on the spot, have a copy. The ability to also scan writing on the back of photos or add your own notes or annotations means that in years to come my knowledge of who is who in our family is passed down.
Love this app!. After lugging photo albums around during recent bushfires, this has been the perfect solution to keeping memories intact. Simple to use with iPhone - save and share with family / friends on social media. Results are very good, and it’s so easy to scan using phone instead of removing pictures and putting into a scanner. Have recommended to others - thank you!
Photo scan and Editor. I enjoy having this program which I first join at its inception. I joined for 5 years, which is no longer available. I was confronted with having to extend my subscription. I thought about it long and hard and took the opportunity as soon it was offered for 2 years instead of 1. Long term subscribers should be offered better deals I think as a rule. The new features with sharpening and colouring have increased the usefulness and enjoyment a lot. Keep working on this program.
Great app to capture old photos and. I love this app and how easy it is to scan, digitise and restore old photos with the click of a button. The enhanced images look sharp with fine contrast and smooth texture. Overall, it’s easy and efficient to dust off and save some old photos and precious memories using Photomyne. They also offer a free trial to try the app. Well done Photomyne.
Simply the best. I have been a user of Photomyne for a number of years, and it never ceases to surprise me with the results obtained. In terms of ease of use and number of functions it must be the best app of its type available. I recently copied some termite damaged photos for the local historical society. The results were outstanding. The new restore button produces outstanding images. If I could suggest an enhancement it would be to allow colour changes on old defence force uniforms. I had a black and white photo of a Second World War airman but the restore produced army colours. That aside it’s a great program.
Brilliant app for digitising multiple photos at once. UPDATE TO REVIEW: I have upgraded my review to 5 stars after learning that whilst it is not possible to externally save photos when using the 3 day free trial, once you transition to the full subscription, it opens up this functionality. I have found it a brilliant tool to digitise my photos, easy to use and has good quality. ORIGINAL REVIEW: The app is brilliant for scanning and cropping multiple photos at one time however, you are limited to saving the albums to Photomyne. Unless I have missed something, I want to be able to download and save to an external hard drive which does not appear possible.
Seems easy to use for an older downsizer. What do you do with all those photos you’ve got stuck in drawers, in ancient albums or on walls? We’ll, I’ve looked at various options from sending them in a shoebox for somebody to process, to renting a fast scanner and lots in between. Although I’ve only just started I’m impressed with the ease and range of use. Time will tell!
Excellent. I found old photo albums when my elderly uncle passed away. I used Photomyne to scan all of the photos I was interested in before passing the album onto another member of the family. It was so quick and easy and the quality was good considering the age and quality of the photos. Being able to also save the scanned photos to my device and PC is an added bonus. A wonderful app all round. So glad I discovered it.
Very difficult to cancel subscription. An app could not possibly be more difficult, challenging and more confusing to close so that you are not constantly charged subscription fees. There’s no way you could cancel within the ‘free’ trial period with all the e-mails asked to be sent requesting the cancellation and then waiting to get a response only to learn that you need to send more e-mail requests. Basically, you’ll have to close your credit card that the subscription is attached to in order for the charges to stop. I’d avoid this app completely - not worth the hassle! If the app will like to improve, I suggest it simply adds a ‘delete subscription’ button. Simple, done, happy customer may come back again later when more photos need to be scanned.
Really love the potential for this App. I love the idea of colouring black n white photos. Bring old family photos to life is great, but, I just wish it could colour in inside the lines and colour all of the image. Finding that your expectations fall short because an image has colour and black n white - arms, legs, torsos, ears, lips and hair missed: it stands out and makes the reproduction look tacky. Generally, the app creates a great original copy of loose photos and the photos you import. It’s just the recolouring that proves to be a stumbling block. Other than that, the App has great potential and I hope it only gets better. Fingers x’d
My Grandma love me because of this App. I scanned approximately 600 of my 96 year old grandmas photos using Photomyne (some photos going back to 1920s). I created a Google photo album then bought a Google Nest Hub Max and got it to cycle through all 600 and use it like a digital photo frame. She’s doesn’t watch TV anymore she just watches the photos she hasn’t seen for over 50+ years all possible because of Photomyne!
Amazing.. I downloaded the app after trying to google one, honestly I have never been more impressed with an app than I am with this. The quality it has bring my old photos up to is honestly magic. I don’t know how they’ve done it, the auto perfect cropping, the refinements, everything. If you want to scan old photos or any photos, get this up. It’s literally magic.
Don’t love this app but it does a reasonable job. It’s virtually impossible to scan photos without getting some sort of shadows, particularly photos with a dark background. Also when I use the diamond face feature sharping tool it looks nothing like the real people in the photos. Honestly my flatbed scanner does a far better job and no shadows. The only downside is that each photo has to be individually cropped. I downloaded this app in the recommendation of my son but I can’t say I’m really happy.
Brilliant Timesaving App. This app is amazing. It’s so simple to use. Just need good lighting then you line up the photos and shoot. The app not only crops the photos but also edits them. The quality of the finished photos is pretty high. Folders can be made to organise your collection making photos easy to find. I love that while I can have them on my phone or computer they are also stored in a cloud so I have a back up. I’m someone who takes a lot of photos who has in the past spent hours scanning, cropping and editing old photos. This app is a huge time saver and makes the process painless. The biggest issue I’ve found using it is making sure I don’t have shadows or reflecting when shooting the photos. Once this is sorted the rest is easy. Occasionally the app will crop incorrectly. As the app retains the photos you shoot this is very simple to edit to correct. Totally loving this app and the time that it saves.

Parkie. A very good product but a little difficult to move photos to other apps and to print
So easy!. Really fast, easy and great quality scan
Terrible Customer Service.... So I had seen this app, in an ad, on another one of my app and decided to download it. With me getting a bit older and technology advancing I thought it would be a great way to scan old baby pictures and photos of my grandparents that have passed away. Well waiting for the app to finish downloading, I started reading some of the reviews. The way the “Developer” answers his customers in their reviews in the “Developer Response” section had me blown away. I will not support a company that talks to their customers like that. To the people that rated the app 1 star and were not enjoying the app or having problems with it, he basically was calling them liars, saying that what they wrote was completely untrue, than would contradict on why they’re untrue in another review. To the people that rated it four stars he would later on in the “developer response” say contact support does that give us a five star out now.🤦♀️ One review was about how someone had paid for “one time payment” subscription and than saw an expiration date on it... The Developer was kept insisting there was a “one time payment” in a bunch of reviews and then he goes to say that we only have “monthly” “yearly” and a “five-year” subscription there is no one time payment option it is a five-year plan. 🙄 That is beyond misleading to be telling your customers that it is a one time payment for this subscription if it is only valid for 5 years. I will not be downloading any apps from Photomyne. I will be deleting this app without even opening it. I REFUSE TO SUPPORT A COMPANY WITH THIS MUCH UNPROFESSIONALISM, MISDIRECTION, LYING AND FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY.
NEWBY. I have just started using Photomyne and have had mainly good and surprising results. Easy so far but have a lot of learning to do yet. I have bought the phone lens, phone holder stand, light table, folding light diffuser and clicker. Good deal with the Photomyne discount on Amazon.
Poor Quality Scanning Negative. The scan can hardly scan any negatives. The quality is extremely poor. There are lots of free apps available for scanning pictures, so should not spend any money on it.
RS. Love this app
Ridiculous.. There are so many things wrong with this company I don’t even know where to start. The app isn’t even that bad. It’s the way the people running this app conduct themselves and their business that’s the major issue. If you go through and read their responses to people who have left negative reviews you’ll see that their customer service abilities are extremely lacking in most cases. My other major issue is the fact that they call something a “one time payment” when in fact that’s an outright lie because that “one time payment” has an expiration date and you WILL be charged again. Oh the irony. Just call it what it is, (a payment plan) and stop pulling this stuff with your customers. It doesn’t matter if you do put it in the fine print, it’s still a scam to call something one thing when it’s clearly not what you’re selling it as. Like I said, the app does work, but the underlying circumstances are what do harm to their reputation as a company and people should consider these things before dealing with said company.
Photos. Facile d'utilisation le partage se fait très bien et je peux même conserver sur mon PC j'aime cette application
Me. Wow, amazing!
Scam. Don’t try this app …. You have to pay almost $50 to do anything with it
The best app!!. I love this app!! Helps families reminisce memories!💕 And it’s so efficient!
Excellent. Simple, facile à utiliser, les résultats sont excellents, même à l’impression.
They are like Ransomware. You can scan your photos and have limited tools, which is fine but the minute you try to save YOUR photo the app comes up with ridiculous membership fees. You take a screen shot of YOUR photo and then all your photos are covered in a watermark and the only way you can remove it is pay. It is fine if you want to charge people to use the AI portion of the app but to claim ownership with a watermark covering the full photo is real scummy. So your photos are pretty much held hostage for money.. don’t use there are a lot of apps out there that are reasonable.
Catherine. J’adore cette application !
Great app. Started to copy my albums I have no copies of and it’s been great so far. Just remember to turn data off on phone and go to wifi. Pictures are just like originals.
You have to pay to access your photos. You have to pay 12.99 monthly in order to download the photos
Great for prints, good for slides, fair for negatives. Efficent process for prints; not so much for slides and quality for negatives questionable
The Restore Service is phenomenal. I’ve had some pictures in my collection that are so faded that you can barely make out the faces. The restore service took care of that. They made the picture look like I just took it maybe a year ago. The picture was actually from 1962. In addition, I got enough tokens to restore 100 photos for not quite five dollars. Incredible!
Photomyne scanner lifetime version. I bought the Pro version of the Photomyne Scanner app in 2017, and while it was great for batch-scanning photo albums, the company is no longer honoring its "lifetime" commitment. After a recent update, my scanning history disappeared, and the app became filled with ads for their new subscription service. Despite contacting support and sharing my 2017 receipt, they only restored local scanning and removed the cloud features I relied on. Now, I'm constantly interrupted by "Upgrade" pop-ups whenever I try to scan family photos. It's disappointing to see a company treat loyal customers this way. To other long-time users: keep your receipts and be cautious about the "lifetime" deal; it may not hold up as promised.
Choose another app. This app is capable of scanning a slide. That’s when the problems begin. It is very difficult to move slides to the computer or hard drive for storage. Pop-ups are endless, asking for upgrades and signing up for premium models, if declined, they are followed by multiple inappropriate and useless advertisements. I made the mistake of buying this app for copying my slides.
Good but no shortcut to photo. Or am I missing something?
Don’t like the changes. Transferring to my computer as backup it’s lost all my comments and lost some of photo quality. I’ve done used in the past years. Don’t like the changes
Great so far. So far I’m impressed with this app. Still getting to know it but so far so good.
Greatest app. Bring up lots of memories and share with others
Easy to use. As part of my decuttering process, it is satisfying to get the treasured pictures into a digital format. In the process, I am recognizing which pictures are treasured, and which have no value.
Be careful. Be aware of this as I just found out. I have 74 photos that i previously scanned in the app and another device. Unless I have a subscription, I cannot access these photos. Without a subscription, you have access to the app on the device you scanned with. However, without the subscription, if the app is deleted or you switch devices, you'd need the subscription to restore them. Poor customers to be forced to access their info and data. Will not be using this app and have requested support to delete all my info.
Wonderful app!. It turns your iPhone into a better photo scanner than you thought possible.
Great app!!. Love the way I can take a scan of multiple pictures at a time.
🤬DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!. I downloaded this app because it sounded really amazing. I didn’t get a subscription, because I always test out the free version first! And I also read the reviews, and I am deleting this app and will never use anything by Photomyne- don’t even know if I spelled their name correctly, and I don’t care. There were more negative reviews than positive ones. A lot more. And the way the developers answered these people was in a mean, insulting, and extremely rude way. Telling them stuff like what the person is complaining about isn’t true, and that the person is lying. As well as the usual shift the question to ‘customer service’, so that they don’t have to deal with the people’s questions, probably because they know the person is correct. *** Since when is calling a customer a LIAR, considered Good Customer Service?!? A few of the responses sounded like they were coming from an A$$HOLE!! One of the other most concerning things I found was that if you are using the free version, you cannot access your photos on any other device except for the device you used to scan them with. As well as that once your photos are stored in their app, you cannot get your photos UNLESS you pay $$ for a subscription! How are they allowed to keep peoples photos hostage unless people agree to pay for a subscription plan?!? 🤔🙄🤥 ***If you don’t want to take a chance on LOSING your precious photos, DO NOT GET THIS APP!! ***If you read the reviews and agree, please post your own warning, so others won’t get ripped off by these people, and be treated like garbage! Thank you.
Not free. A soon as I logged in and signed up it wants me to pay $7.00 a month, false advertising
Photomyne pour la famille. Super app ! Vraiment utile !
Excellent!. You bring back Sharp Memories!
Wow!. Does a great job of digitizing old photos. So easy!
Amazing results!. I was skeptical at first and then tried scanning a couple of old photos I had. Wow, can’t believe the quality and it was so easy to do. I added colour to them and it brought the pictures to life! I am thrilled with this app!
Awesome. The colouring option is great
photo scanning app. Pretty good photo scanning app, room for improvement as it trims too much of the edges
I Use Photomyne Daily. I have used Photomyne for a long time now and I love it! I collect old photos, postcards, and magazines and pull my phone out to scan and share, regularly! The results are very detailed, clear, and accurate. I have convinced many of my friends to get this app too. You get 5 stars for sure! I have enough storage in too many areas and I wish you wouldn’t keep asking me to sign up for storage. I have a new phone and it seems like you are getting to know me again. Anyway, great app and I do recommend it!! I see there are new capabilities and the feature that clears up blurry edges is fabulous!! Maureen Haddock
May not be apps fault.. Paid the $2.99, because I only need to do 3 photos. Software didn’t didn’t work after payment, there was no error message.
Awesome. Amazing
Effective no. Takes a little time to get to know all the function but very easy to use
Miserable app. Worked for about 5 minutes after subscribing and then just kept asking to buy a subscription. Very poorly designed.
Review. Still had to pay extra for AI enhancements in free trial
Scam. This was a great app and I would have given it 5 stars. Unfortunately, my subscription expired and I wasn’t able to access my photos unless I renewed. So I paid $25 just to be able to log in and delete my images. I’m going to close my account now as I’m so disappointed that you don’t even have the option of deleting your photos once your subscription has expired. So buyer beware!
Perfect app. Very cool and very nice app
Me. Good for copy and store.🙂
Pain to use. Keeps wanting you to buy. Pop up ads drive you crazy. Probably delete the app j for that reason!
Awesome app. Love this app made my job so much easier
Great app!. Doing all I need it to do!
What every happened to purchasing software. I hate what has happened to the software these days. What ever happened to purchasing something and owning it if you liked it? This software takes it to the next level of evaluating the software and forces you to watch a complete 30 second video of useless crap. Even YouTube doesn’t subject you to such cruelty. I had tried this software in the past and figured my phone resolution was the problem. Testing it again today with an iPhone 13 and I am impressed but after trying 2 photos and than having to jump through all the adds and popups from this software I am looking online to just purchase a photo scanner. At least I will own that when I am done using it
Useless without subscription. The developer can claim all he wants that the subscription “is optional”, but the truth is that without overpaying for this app with a subscription, the app is basically useless. All of the useful functionality with this app is disabled until you pay the big bucks. Too bad....it’s a decent app otherwise. ***reply** I didn’t say it should be free. I said that you’re being forced to overpay with a subscription! I’d happily pay for software that I actually owned after paying for it! What happened to paying for software outright?? What value am I getting by “subscribing”. Hell...your so called “one-time payment” isn’t even really that as it apparently only lasts five years! I’m all for software devs being paid for their work (I am one myself) but the subscription model is a money grab plain and simple. I should be able to buy your software and walk away a satisfied customer. The software is great...and would be awesome if I could actually own it.

Extremely useful!. We are downsizing to an RV so storage space is at a premium! Scanned almost 4,000 photos I’d been hauling around for decades. It was especially helpful to put them in categories as I went. Now I can actually find a photo I’m looking for. Being able to scan the back was so awesome as some had writing from my ancestors. They transferred easily to my laptop and stayed in their categories. The only thing it didn’t do on the transfer was keep the name of the album, instead it numbered them. Had to open each album to see what it was then rename it. Overall, very happy to have found this app!!
Extremely useful. When I used Photomyne years ago, I may have been using the very first American release, I was fascinated with the app's ability to "shoot" a page of images, separate the group into individual images, and park them, as I recall, on my phone. It can still do that if all conditions are right but it now prefers to scan one or two at a time and seems to do best with one picture at a time. It is now calibrated to work best in indirect daylight. It now comes with all kinds of extras. I'm pleased. I still get best results with straight shooting. Luckily, the advanced features are there if you want them.
Very Close to Perfect. My late mother and grandmother kept hundreds of Kodak and Polaroid photos going back to the early 1900s. Trying this app to scan and organize all of them. Pros: It’s fast! Sharpening and cleaning up old photos in what’s probably less than five seconds. Results look natural and the colorization feature is really stunning. There are only a couple of things I’d change: Sometimes colorization modifies our faces but misses our arms and legs. I’ve noticed that the app changes African American eye color to brown even if the person’s eyes are hazel or green. There’s no one-click button to save photos to iPhoto like there is to save to Google Photos. But overall, this app is excellent!
Love this app.. This is definitely the best app I have ever seen for scanning photos. You can scan a whole page and it will break each picture into an individual file which really saves time. It does an amazing job of correcting the color on old black-and-white photos. And you can even colorize the photo if you want. They have a very easy set up for using this app to email yourself a zip file so you can move the pictures to another computer very easily. Have only had this for a short time but I am very very satisfied. Customer support is also very good.
Almost perfect.. This is the best app and software to come around for those that want to archive their family’s history in all the slides, negatives, photos and documents they have scattered all over the place in boxes and cases, etc. and have been overwhelmed for how long and daunting the task would be. Well this fixes that for sure. It is so fast now! The only issues I have are some glitches here and there in the software like the amazing auto cropping feature that usually requires you to go back in and manually correct 80% of the images. There are other things like that but ultimately it’s awesome!
Pretty Good. Overall the app is useful but you can’t edit out spots and imperfections. I had to download them and edit out imperfections on my computer. It would be nice if the title and year that I added appeared on the bottom of the picture. It takes time to identify each person, but that information doesn’t appear on the picture on the picture either. When I downloaded them, the names and years came along in a separate txt document. Also, It would be great if there were an option to add a border. I was able to share with family members all my work, but the app could be improved.
Absolutely Incredible.. I downloaded this app the day after my grandfather died, only 6 weeks after the passing of my grandmother. I had one objective: to preserve every picture I found in the home they shared for 73 years so that we would have them. Over and over, we were blown away as pictures were restored ti a clarity that made faces newly recognizable that had been lost to time. The best moment was when I scanned their wedding photo, taken in 1947. We saw the youth in every detail, and then I chose colorize the photo, which instantly brought tears to everyone’s eyes, including mine. I’m sure I’m emotional right now, but I can’t remember any app ever doing more for me than this one did.
Easiest app to scan and annotate old photos!. After uploading, colorizing and annotating 100s of old family photos, I am seriously pleased with this app. Like any fairly new application, there are bugs to work out but I believe those fixes will come soon. I would love the ability to connect this app with genealogy apps like Ancestry and photo creatives like Snapfish. It is breathtaking to see generational photos come to life with the technology in colorizing. Hopefully this will continue to be refined and applied to early Polaroids and colored photos that are fading away completely. I am truly glad I found and use Photomyne! ~ Cynthia Austin, League City, TX
Very good colorization, poor enhancement. The colorization is superior in that it also colorises the backgrounds, although sometimes spots of color will be off a bit. I tried all of the enhancement options and I can’t tell any difference. I have another colorization app that doesn’t colorize backgrounds as well but does a much, much better enhancement. Also the animation in this app is better but is an added charge. I like it that you can select a multiple number of photos to import and wish I could process them as a group. In the end I think I’ll be keeping both apps because they each do one thing well. Expensive, but I have a bunch of old photos I’d like to process
Didn’t live up to advertisements. I tested it by scanning several pictures from my photo albums and it automatically made them better than it came on the screen at first. However, they were not all that clear. When I tried using their option to increase the clarity, it really didn’t make any change from that version. It also put the resulting photos on their website and there was no option to download them to my own phone storage. What good is it to have something that is only available through their webpage or Google‘s webpage. It did colorize a photo that I scanned and that were just shades of brown originally. Unfortunately, I have no way to judge whether these were correct colors or not, as I did not ever see that person at that age in person. We were within normal colors of people and showed her hair as a reddish brown. I only knew her when her hair was white.
Love this App, but…. I love how “accurate” this app is when sharpening my photos however, I wish it could sharpen a bit more than just the face of an individual; I’d like to see more of the photo clarified, as it looks kind of “obvious” when only the fave is clear, but the shoulders, etc. are still out of focus. This goes for the Colorizing affect as well. The face gets beautifully transformed yet, the rest of the photo remains unchanged. Other than these reasons I’ve mentioned, this app is wonderful! I won’t spend more money on “subscriptions,” unless these issues can be improved. Thank you!
Wonderful Photo Utility. Nothing like have all your photos in one place specially those memories taken before the digital cameras. It’s easy to use and very convenient to have access among all your devices. It’s not cheap and honestly the fees are confusing. I will like someone explaining more about it. It gets to the point you don’t have much photos in paper to scan anymore but you still have to pay a monthly or yearly fee which is way too high. Why not have a life fix price? Anyway I will probably end up becoming a subscriber but not sure for how long. An excellent product. There is no doubt about it. It’s so easy to create a 30 Pictures album with very good quality results.
Great quality, so easy to use. I needed something in a hurry for my wife to scan in a hundred borrowed photos of our daughter’s first 30 years. There was an easy learning curve of a few minutes and was up and running to scan (photo through the app) in the photos (and digitize them) in a couple hours. I compared this to their free competitor, and this was much easier to use and better quality for me - well worth the money! It works so well even though I am on a free trial with them I’ll gladly give them the money! I ran the app on my iPhone SE which I paid about $400 for from T-Mobile. It worked absolutely fantastic!
Used to be so good and now…. Update: developer responded to the review incorrectly. I understand how colorization and scanning technology works. The point of the review was that the technology used to be better and it’s going downhill. Used to colorize my pictures perfect and now it misses a third of the picture leaving the rest black and white. It used to grab the pictures perfect when scanning and now it crops them wrong. An app should be getting better… not worse. also, looking at their good reviews it looks funny like they’re trying to push the bad reviews further down the page. Will probably be canceling my subscription soon. ***initial review: Becoming difficult to use. Does not identify pictures easy. Colorize used to be amazing and now it takes 10 times as long and only does a quarter of the picture. Used to be such a good app.
Love this app!. I’ve used dozens of methods to scan and preserve photos and documents. None were this simple, and efficient. I’ve used actual scanners that were costly, and cumbersome, and I still needed to crop and enhance each go n I’m. photo. Not only can you scan an entire page from a photo album, but it identifies the edges, and saves each photo separately. Then it allows you to name, and describe each photo, put them into albums, share, or store them. And they’re accessible. Not sitting in albums in a box collecting dust somewhere. Try it, play around with it. You’ll love it too.
Difficult and time consuming. For the life of me I cannot understand how to see these photos on my PC. It says it will send me a link, which it does, only it’s for FilmBox which I do not have. I can’t figure out how to get it to go to Photomyne. Tried over and over again. Im sorry I bought this app. I’ll admit it’s probably me, but I can’t use my PC and there are things you can do on the pc that aren’t available on the iPhone. A little time to understand Really liking this app though it’s taking some minutes to understand the what’s and how’s. Glad I got it.
Lost Treasures Found. When my grandma passed. All I wanted were some of the old family photos. The photos I received were so bleached out. I couldn’t recognize anyone in the pictures. They were all orange and washed out. I thought they were lost for good. Then I came across the Photomyne app. I decided to give it a try. After all the pictures were already ruined. I couldn’t believe my eyes. The pictures looked like they had just been taken. I had never seen my mom and dad as young parents. It brought tears to my eyes. I definitely would recommend this app.
Save Money Digitizing Photos. I never write reviews but this app saved me hundreds of dollars digitizing my parents photos. I was going to use a company like Legacy Box because I figured it would take forever for me to do it myself. Then, I found this app and started using it with the free trial. It took me just minutes to scan a hundred photos. I set six photos down, take a picture, and it finds and crops each photo. Occasional errors that you can easily fix by manually cropping. I was impressed by the quality. It even makes some older photos look better. I ended up spending the money on it for a month and may cancel when I’m done with all the digitizing. Great app and very happy I found it!
Dismal Customer Service. After a 3 day trial, I purchased an annual subscription. In less than one week and not having used it, I chose to cancel. I only requested a refund after discovering that their customer service was severely lacking. Two day response time and no answer to the question I posed which was "what happens to your photos if you terminate the subscription?" Four emails later and still no answer to that question. Their customer service website was extremely glitchy, including a link to email support which did not work. Chat window said response typically within a few hours. First response was 35 hours later. Based on the 4:30 AM responses by email, it appears that their support is not USA, so don't expect a timely resolution to your issue. Definitely would not consider them in the future.
Overall Good, but Glitchy. Overall PhotoMyne is going a good job capturing old family photos so my kids & grandkids can share them, but it’s not without its quirks! The quality is good - I tested it against GoogleScan and it definitely had more detailed higher quality photos. BUT beware if you hope to use Google Photos to share albums with your family, The good news is, it will keep the captions added in PhotoMyne to GoogkePhonot. The bad news is it doesn’t batch save them so I save each individual photo to Google Photos, one at a time as I scan them. Ridiculously time consuming. If I do decide to share multiple photos to GooglePhotos, I have to go back and see which photos it shared and which it missed. Overall very frustrating from an otherwise very good app! :(
NOT a free app. Require subscription to view your photos. With hundreds of family photos to scan, this app seemed ideal. I downloaded what I thought was a free app, and set to work scanning photos. The description says ‘free with in app purchases’. Photomyne does NOT state up front that after a week, they will force you to purchase their service, which is not inexpensive. If you do not, you can not view ANY of the photos you scanned. I wasted hours and hate that it feels I’m now being blackmailed into purchasing their monthly service. If they’d been upfront with the cost? Might have purchased. The companies response is not sufficient. ‘In-app purchases’ suggest you can use the app for free, and purchase ‘extras’. Not having access to anything you scanned? That just amounts to a huge waste of time, unless you buy a subscription. It is absolutely dishonest. I know of no other apps that play such a deceptive game
Not buying. I have always thought this app is too expensive but now in the last update you blurred out the few photos you allowed in it without buying I will never buy it. Trying to force someone to buy is unconscionable. You made up my mind for not to buy it. Update: Developer did not really answer my criticism which was they blurred out the few photos they once allowed in the trial. Read review of another person who decided not to continue buying after having paid for awhile. What did they do? Blurred out all his pictures. Be warned your pictures are not really yours. It is theirs if you don’t keep paying. It is like ransom ware. They own your pictures - not you! Even if you stop paying they should let you still see what pictures you have entered even though you wouldn’t be able to add to them.
Easy to use and surprisingly good quality. Purchased the premium version to make digital copies of old photos of my father for his memorial. Saved me sooo much time uploading without having to scan and crop hundreds of photos - I will say it’s easier with matte photos than glossy because the glossy pics had a shadow or light reflection in the image- but I haven’t taken the time to try to search tips on how to avoid this. I’ll search today and may post an update. Even so - I love it! Most of my photos were matte and I am truly thankful I found this app :)
LOVE to capture the handwritten note on the back of photos. I love my mother’s handwriting, and it makes me so happy to be able to capture the backs of photos and attach them to my scanned photos. My mom labeled our images and this is the only way I’ve seen to scan the back of the pics and not let go of those handwritten messages. Also, I have had the hardest time trying to figure out what to do with all of my printed pictures. This app makes it so quick to scan, organize and tag photos, and they look good no matter if they are in a frame or in a book, old or new.
My second choice, should have been first. I was put off by the subscription format of this app and decided to buy some thing that was a one time purchase. I don’t regret the previous purchase, because I got to experience what a less interactive program would do. I have been able to scan hundreds of photos, and have been impressed throughout with the ease that this app gives me. There have been a few times that the “correction“ of the coloring has actually not been as good as what the original was, but that has been rare. Yes, it is pricey, but the money is well worth it if you want to preserve your old photos.
Amazing!. My family is getting ready for our first family reunion in decades. I volunteered to do the family tree video pictures started pouring in from all my family members old pictures of great great grandma great grandma and grandma. Most of them were black-and-white and not very clear. I used this app to edit the pictures and they turned out great you can see the faces. I colorized them. Oh my God they are great. I so much appreciate this amazing app. This video will be passed down for generations so I wanted it to be perfect thank you photo for helping me make the perfect videofor my family I would recommend this app to anyone wanting to restore old pictures
Very Frustrated!. This app won’t let me sign out of the app on my phone or let me sign into my account on the computer. Also, you can’t sign into your account on another phone so a spouse can scan photos into your account. You can change your email and password in the app without verification though email, which is also disconcerting. For an app that markets itself as a place to scan and share photos with family there are many road blocks that make it harder to collaborate with family and friends. I paid for two year subscription and very disappointed.
Wonderful and extremely efficient for saving and restoring photos, old and new on your computer!. Excellent app, I cannot do without Photomyte! I lost my last cell phone and all my pictures so now I have a way to back up new pictures and copy photos from photo albums and picture frames. They are safe now even if I lose this phone. I can also create slideshow presentation gifts for loved ones and send them via email, message or Facebook. One more important thing, we had a house fire in early 2000 and lost a lot of pictures, now I can back up every picture in my home and on my phone. Great work Photomyte!!!❤️
Amazing App!!!. This is going to save me so much time. My mom has all the family albums and 8 adult children. So no one can see the photos unless we are at her house. I was thinking I was going to have to buy a very expensive scanner, take the pictures out one at a time, scan them and reassemble the albums. There are dozens of albums. This app bypass all of that and corrects the lighting on the pictures without being asked to do that. Make sure there are no overhead lights on or it may reflex in the scanned picture. Wishing I didn’t print glossy pictures.
How much easier can it get. For years I’ve been lugging around boxes of albums, negatives and loose photos with the intent when I get older ( I’m 80 now) to catalogue and preserve these items in such a way that I can share them with my kids and grandkids. Over the years I’ve bought all kinds of gadgets, scanners etc ( including a $500 + item that will make all this painless). And guess what? Since I downloaded and bought this new, quick and error less program I’ve been spending days using it and thanking the powers to be that I did. As we used to say in the Navy (US): Bravo Zulu!
Super App!. This one is a keeper. It’s simple to use from the outset. Combines the clunky, load picture, scan, locate, then fix in a separate program. That’s one! Photomyne grabs four at a time while I stand with my phone. Click, hold three seconds, click, then the magic. Each one appears on screen, is reworked to meet current standards and saved to the album of your choice. After that, you’re offered several to fix the photo further, i.e, colorize faded pics or colorize B&W pics. Several others complete what you want not what the program requires as others might. Okay, one word review: Simplicity at its best.
Exactly what I needed!. I have been looking for a way to localize all our family photos from childhood so our entire family can enjoy them, but I was procrastinating on scanning them one by one through the computer, saving them on the computer, uploading them to Shutterfly, etc., etc.. I saw your ad on TikTok and downloaded it immediately and I am obsessed with it!!!! I have several siblings and my parents have about 25 albums of our family when we were all little- and the albums were collecting dust in the basement. We have all gotten a lot of joy out of being able to share the photos so easily. Awesome app.
At last, I LOVE it.. During the first year of having this app I never took the time to understand how to use it. I think I even tried for a refund. Same with the magnificent SlideScan app. But then my wife’s son died of cancer and she asked me to create a photographic memorial comprised with about 45 photographs that needed to be digitally scanned. I design publications and use indesign and photoshop, but each photo could take more time than I had, and would require some manual processing. So, I’d had awesome results with SlideScan and figured maybe Photomyne could save the day. It has. My next step is to make a slide show to post on his Facebook page. Thank you Photomyne!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Improved, but I have a few suggestions. I was so glad to see a voice control option, but why do I have to keep enabling the voice control? I enable, scan the front of the picture, try to scan the back — manually, because voice is not an option, then it loses the voice enabling. I then go to the next picture, enable, scan back - voice disables, and so on. Also, how can I scan a back to a photo that’s already in my library — I forgot to do it when I originally scanned. I found I actually have to delete the photo — which I already added names, sharpened, etc. When adding names to the people in the photo, it would be great if the list would start filtering by the first letter I type. Instead, if the name starts with a T, I have to scroll through the A-S people before I get to the Ts. Would be faster. I do love the software - I have been the keeper of the family photos for years for a family of 13. I’m just trying to find a faster way to scan thousands of pictures.
Frustrated!!. I scanned pictures in and it did a great job! The only problem is I logged in to add more pictures and I can’t get access to the albums I created, it just opens the pop up windows to upgrade!! I’m tired of these apps that say they have a free basic version but if you try to use it they make you upgrade before you can do anything!! I don’t want to upgrade until I use it and make sure it’s got everything I want/need!!! I had planned on upgrading but since I can’t even use the basic plan I just don’t have confidence that it will work once I do.
Lost photos. After scanning my childhood photos into Photomyne over a period of time I was unable to see and share my photos with family members. I contacted your customer service and explained that since getting married und changing my last name and email address I was unable to log into my account. Lara was very patient and after several emails back and forth she was able to restore my account and all is well now. I greatly appreciated her help thank her very much. I love scanning old photos from Europe and sharing them with my family. Photomyne is very easy to use and share. Thank you, Ingrid Jeffries.
Very helpful. This app really helps take pictures of all those old pictures in the shoebox. You do not have to take the picture square on. Though it will turn out better if you get it close. Do beware of where your light is coming from. Otherwise you may find your silhouette staring at you in the picture. It works best with diffuse light. Also check your pictures for blur. The sound of the camera click sometimes preceds the actual picture so if you move on your picture can be blurred. But with those few pointers you will get very nice pictures of your families old prints. It also does a very good job of color restotation. Almost as good as a high quality scanner.
Best App Ever!. My dad passed away a few months ago and my brother and I were going through very old family albums with my mother. Pictures that had faded or yellowed with age were ‘magically’ transformed back to (or better) what they originally looked like. The colorization of b/w photos is amazing!! It boggles the mind the app can put accurate colors to a b/w photo. Not all photos can be colorized with success. I’ve tried to colorize a few pics that turned out with blotchy colors, but I think it’s because the quality of the b/w wasn’t very good to begin with. I would HIGHLY recommend this app!
The Best. If you’re looking for an app that does what a lot of other photo apps do not?! This is the perfect app for you! It organizes your photos into albums and not only can you label the album but you can also enter information about the photo itself, names, dates, places. I chose an annual subscription because it was well worth the reasonable amount of money for the product you get! The colorizing old photos, black and white, sepia tone, is my absolute favorite and it retains the original for you! If you’re a photographer, amateur genealogist, history buff, you’ll enjoy this app!
Awesome concept—but falls short. LOVE the simple interface, clever automations, and quality output. It makes almost makes archiving images fun! BUT…the way Photomyne forces their branding so much— adding it to photo sharing emails, shared photo web links, etc., is bad is over the top. Stamping the Photomyne logo on every image exported with the detail notes totally RUINS an otherwise wonderful feature—like, I won’t even touch it even though I want to so badly. (Please. Stop. The badging.) And constantly badgering us to “upgrade to elite status” in the app is ridiculous. Ask once and then be done. Fix these things and I’ll give this 5 stars and be a fan for life. Leave them as they are, and you’ll probably lose a customer in a few months.
Charging for a scan program ridiculous. It’s absolutely amazing that you charge for this service. I was excited to use the app, then, after loading it I see it is pay service to scan photos. It’s really sad because there are many free apps out there that do this, they may not be as good as yours, but charging for this is incredible. You should offer a basic scan service for free and have a pro subscription that offers more, a value to those that like your app, and want to add more features, but for those that just want to scan and go it should be free. For gods sake, Google offers a scan app that does the same thing for free...I was comparing yours to it to see which I liked better, I think I have my answer now. Sure, I’m just one little voice, but it’s amazing to me that you would charge even 1 penny for this service. The amount to me is irrelevant, it’s just the fact that charging for this is just ridiculous!
Gimmick ! Scam ! Useless. Do not waste your money. As you scan photos this app distorts them as they are saved so there it appears as though it is cleaning up your photos but it is not! See for yourself. Compare your original photos to the scanned photo or document. The scanned photo is not even as clear as the original and their options of refining peoples faces just doesnt work. The app is also slow, low tech with a confusing, unfriendly interface. Does not consistently respond to uses commands such as to delete photos! You constantly receive advertisements to upgrade snd spend more money. This is basically an expensive photo snd document storage plan. Completely useless. And they forever have access to the images and docs you scanned! COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY AND INVASION OF PRIVACY
Trial way too short & inferior. The trial period barely allowed me time to take some photos and get them printed to compare. I was very disappointed in the paid version in that some photos with descriptions partially printed with the frame, some correctly printed and some did not print at all. Also the glares & reflections were corrected in a few but not most of them. I printed about 60 pictures from this app and a different free app. The free app (a different app) had no glares or reflections in any of their pics and was a little more difficult to shoot, also didn’t have descriptions so I chose Photomyne. I cancelled the Photomyne after I got the pics printed. It’s possible I made some mistakes but I didnt have time to figure that out before the trial period was over so I canceled. Sorry
An awesome way to save old family photos for posterity. I have recently undertaken to convert about 100 pounds worth of my in-laws family photo albums into digital format. Most of these are older photographs (1970’s) with a terrible yellow tint to them. I can’t believe how well this app cleans that up! I love the fact that I can title albums and images. This will be an absolute wonderful project to do with my husband‘s grandparents over the winter. It’s really everything I wanted in a nap. Quick, intuitive, and it works well with both my device and my PC. Sending a poignant to a family member via text or email is a snap too. No complaints. Well worth the cost even after the free trial!!
Great App. A really Simple yet Powerful app which is worth it’s price! The Video Feature that brings a Flat, Black and White Photo to Life!! Honestly!! I tried this once and was AMAZED… I mean AMAZED!! I tried to use it a second time and I would have to pay! Probably well worth the Price… Especially for Anyone who conducts Séance or wants to bring back the deceased through photography!! ****UPDATE **** I Bought the App and I Would give it 5 STARS… after this Last Update… 10 STARS!! The NEW Colorization Variations Feature is worth the Cost of this App!! Bring an OLD or NEW Black and White photo into Realistic COLOR… and now, 5 Color Versions of the SAME Photo to choose from!! 10 STARS!!!
Good app but needs some work. I like how this app scans most photos. You do have to stabilize your camera for the 3 second scan. The thing I found frustrating in scanning old folded documents, is that on folded paper it treats it like separate documents. So if a paper has several creases it ends up copied as several separate pictures. I figured out how to flatten or reposition things so it worked. I do like that you can caption the pictures or documents. I like that you can share them. I do wish that the captions would be included when sharing
Photomyne Review. I love this app! I am using it to create a photo album and website for my 50th class reunion. I was able to easily import pictures from my black-and-white photo album from 50 years ago. The app quickly recognizes and separate multiple photos on the same page and craps them. This is a huge timesaver. What really blew me away was the ability you colorized these black-and-white photos. Not all of them turned out great: my class picture still look black and white with a bluish tent in the background. But many other photos really came to life, so overall the feature was a very impressive addition. Where I believe the application needs more development is to expand the ability to import photos from dropbox, Google Drive and other websites.
Wow!. So simple and easy to use (with tripod) for saving those thousands of photos ( 3 at a time) mom (or grandma?) saved over the years for transition to disk and distribution to other family members! Place, click and let app do the rest. Automatically sharpening and crisping (lighting up too) those old photos quickly to make them look better than the original. Allows you to save parsing and deleting what you really don’t want or need for later. App taking full advantage of the latest scan, crop, enhance and save all as quickly as you can put the photos down under the lens.
Fantastic App. This app is amazing. Initially I considered buying or renting a scanner, but I’m so happy I decided to use Photomyne instead. It’s easy to use and the scanned prints look as good if not better than the originals. We have about 10,000 prints in 45 photo albums dating back to the mid 70’s. So far I’ve done about 3,000. Every Friday I text photos to my 3 children, my mother-in-law, and my sister-in-law. They absolutely love remembering past events, and sharing the memories with my ten grandchildren. If you have old photos sitting around, this is the App for you. I couldn’t be happier with the results.
I don’t like it.. Cancel. Photos missed heads. I did not like it my three day trial is up tomorrow. Stop the app end my trial. I don’t like it photos lost heads. Check the date that I wrote that. It appears that the $37 that pay pal is scamming us out of each month is your doing. Tha anger that is building each month as our account gets charged will find a way to you. There are laws. 2024. I paid for the year. That stopped the sucking money out of my account. I’m not sure when the year ends but I’m enjoying cleaning up old photos as I put my husband’s genealogy together. I just received a notification that I have elite. I didn’t order it. I just read my original assessment of this company and wonder if they are up to it again.
