Amazing app. This app keeps getting better. Previous to this latest version, the only thing I could think of that it was missing were simulated color filters. Guess what!? The latest version has it! Incredible! Really worth downloading and using this app.

Great App. Love this app for preplanning architectural shoots. I wish the photos that were saved to the camera roll were watermarked with the camera data or has that option.

Great but found some flaws. This is great to help pre-visualize framing and metering when shooting film. However one quirk that I couldn’t figure out is how to turn off HDR. HDR lightens shadows and darkens blown highlights, which isn’t represented when shooting film. Please allow it turn off for better simulation. Also, when in Manual metering mode, the shot frame is darker than how the screen is shown.

Improvement. It would be a big help if you can add lenses from 65mm to 300 mm T and 400mm T to the large format section and all lens choices in between.

Love this app!. I absolutely love this app. It instantly became an integral part of my large format tool kit! The only thing that is keeping me from giving it 5 stars is it seems to eat up my iPhone 7+ battery incredibly fast. I just need to make sure to carry external battery with me if I’m out shooting. Make sure to close the app when not using because it will drain your battery, at least it does on my 7+. Even with the battery issue, I still highly recommend this app. Fix the battery issue and this is a perfect app! Great work Adam!

Perfect. This is exactly what I was looking for while learning medium format shooting.

Probably a good App but...... I just bought the app. It looks great but on the second day after the installation it keeps crashing. I reopen and away it goes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it lasted about 10 minutes on screen then away it goes. I reopen and away it goes instantly. Not sure how to proceed.

Extremely useful for the right user. I originally got this app to visualize various lenses on my digital camera. It did that very well. I recently discovered you can also use it as a good simulator of camera / lens combinations for shooting with the iPhone camera. The one minor annoyance is when shooting at a cropped setting the resulting image has a tiny 1px border, but that’s a minor quibble. A great app.

Great app, does as it says, very stable, one feature request. Wonderful app, totally worth the price. One feature request: show the focusing distance used for the preview. The rangefinder on my 4x5 camera is broken and I’d love to use the app to find focus distance.

Please add wider focal lengths!. Great app but would love to see wider focal lengths, specifically on 4x5, like a 90mm. Should be able to be done with the new wide angle lens post-iPhone 11?

Depends upon your needs. I just bought this app. Primarily to see how it compares to Artist Viewfinder Mark II. Viewfinder Preview’s focus seems to be as much on visually the film used as it does on camera format lens selection. For many people this would be a useful tool at 15% of the cost of Artist Viewfinder. But personally, I find its camera selection system limited and lens selection process clunky. Everybody is different and use apps differently. Bottom line, these viewfinder apps are a tremendous God send. They make set up much easier and make you a more measured thoughtful photographer. You can’t go wrong!!

Incredible. I have carried a viewing card for decades. But not only does this app show me the framing and have the wonderful benefit of getting my itchy trigger finger off the shutter button when viewing through the viewfinder, for black-and-white it actually shows me the total range and this is invaluable. And now I always have my viewing card with me. Fantastic app.

Great app and support.. I use this app for recording and note taking when using my 8x10 camera. Works like a charm. Even the light meter has been helpful and I use a spot meter exclusively. The app’s meter has saved several images when I noticed that it had a different meter setting from my spot meter. Turns out my spot meter was on a wrong setting. Great app easily worth the money. Adam, thanks for your help.

Focal length range is terrible. Don’t wast your money, other apps have better range.

Great Viewfinder App. By far my favorite viewfinder app. The only features missing are options to display grid lines, levels, and focus distance. While it doesn’t seem that focus distance can be easily and accurately calculated, grid lines and levels should be easy to implement so I’d love to see them in the next update. Thank you!

AMAZING!. This app is truly amazing! I shoot medium format film. Before I pull my cameras out, I pull out my phone, launch this app, and I compose my scene with it. I can change focal lengths, introduce filters, different film stocks, etc. I can even use the app as a lightmeter to determine what can settings I may want to use! I always pass on "Five Stars" recommendations to fellow photographers!

Worth. It.. Log your analog photos, get a meter reading, add notes, add film/camera/lens to preview - amazing.

Disappointed. This app is simple and easy to use. Unfortunately I was disappointed to learn that 8x10 and 4x5 are limited on shorter focal lengths. I bought the app for the sole purpose of using it for large format and it isn’t fully functional for that purpose on my iPhone X.

Access to all my photos?. Why is that needed?

Great but might need an update for new iPhone. I love this app, the ease of use and film emulations are awesome! However, on my 14 Pro the field of view on 35mm and 50mm doesn’t seem to be correct. The 50 looks more like about 60. I’d like to use it for framing and metering all in one but it isn’t quite there. If this gets updated it’s 5 stars easily.

Widest lens is 35mm?. As a landscape photographer I use wide angle lenses a lot. This app is pretty useless as it only goes down to 35mm and my phone has a wide angle lens that is wider. Was not clear before purchase the app was so limited.

Great app!... with something missing.. I am an architectural photographer and this app streamlines scouting and exploring options before I really get down to the business of shooting the job. I really like the flexibility of the “rangefinder” mode. But I can think of something that would make this app much more valuable to my scouting process. Since I almost exclusively use “shifting” lenses in my work, it would be fantastic if in the rangefinder mode, I could shift those series of focal length frames, with maybe a ‘hold & drag’ with one finger gesture. In that way, at most focal lengths I can incorporate my intended shifts into my scouting shots! That would be a great boon to the architectural shooters out there. Of course such a feature would only be possible for focal lengths inside of the iPhone max focal length (which I think is about 13mm). I’d love to hear from the developers if this is a feature they would consider... or if this is already possible, but I haven’t found how to do it. It would make this the perfect app for my pre shoot scouting. Thanks!

Great for large format. This app is really best for large format shooters. So glad to have found it. I love how I can enter my own lens focal lengths—and even the film emulator is not bad. Simple, clean, no useless bells and whistles. Great job folks!

Not sure. I downloaded the app made the 3.99 in app purchase now every time I open app it only shows the purchase screen. iOS 16 on iphone11 pro max . ………… update after a few spam calls the app works and I can get into it now to set it up . Only giving 3 stars because my first review Disappeared and it was clunky to use at first . It does do as advertised though . Don’t let my sour experience keep you all from getting this.

Great tool for Large Format photogs. I use this all the time when scouting photos and deciding which lens to mount on my 4x5 or 5x7 camera. I can’t wait for the wide angle lens compatibility upgrade to use the wide angle lens on the 11-Pro to see visualizations wider than 90mm. It would be helpfull if the expose button could be set to screen capture the whole screen with the overlay and data in addition to a setting to just take the photo only. Thanks. Great app.

Important app for large format. Simply a fantastic app!! Getting a bit on in years so I love the fact that I can frame my shots without shlepping my full kit. Great app to have on my phone. I purchased this last year after watching a video of a photographer use it, I use some cameras that don’t have a light meter. This also allows me to put in what film I’m shooting on to see what the scene will actually look like, I’ve looked at some scenes thinking there was a image to be had but then I got the app open to see it wouldn’t look the way I thought it would. Also great to have the histogram and being able to tap on the screen to the areas you’d like to get a reading on. I’ve had a couple of glitches with the app, but nothing that closing the app and opening it again can’t fix. I’ll be using this instead of buying a light meter. Just remember to keep your phone charged.

Useless app. Used it just 5 times and now every time it starts it is just a white screen. No amount of adjustment in the settings changes it. Waste of money.

The app does what it says - a UX Designer needed though. The app does what it says but it’s not very well designed. A UX designer fixing the interface make this an incredible app for all photographers.
