Necessary features are missing.. The app is ok for quick sketches but that’s about it. As a graphic designer I need to do things on the fly and find myself frustrated with the features this app lacks. Many times I jump to this app to quickly put something together as a semi mock-up for clients. Simple features the app lacks are essential to anyone who does graphic work. A few missing features are skew & free transform. The distortion features in the app are pretty worthless imo. If I have a logo and need to add simple text I am unable to skew or italicize the text to fit image angles properly. This is a simple function that can be added to the text options/features. There needs to be a angle or skew tab in there to angle the text slant in a positive or negative direction. My second major issue is the same thing with images or object layers. There should be a free transform option or a skew or slant feature to grab individual points of an object to allow for easy manipulation. Or to be able to move only 2 points and adjust the angle/slant of any objects to add alternate perspective to the image objects. If the app had those two features added I would give it 5 stars. There are some great features. But the app itself is very limiting with essential functions that limit the user.

New update is awesome, but still a few missing things. Really love the new keyboard and trackpad support—really makes it feel like a pro app. Thanks for fixing the issues with selection editing with the keyboard too! As some of the other reviews mentioned, the UI is definitely a little clunky especially on big iPad screens—especially the two modal screens you have to go through to choose a specific brush or selection type. The keyboard shortcuts make this a lot easier, but I don’t always have access to a keyboard (like when I’m drawing with Apple Pencil). Would love to have a tool sidebar kind of like the desktop Pixelmator app! There’s also some keyboard functionality missing like being able to select multiple layers/objects on the canvas with Shift or Command. A nice little bonus would be to have enhanced pointer shapes with brushes, erasers, etc. What if we had bigger pointers for larger brush sizes? Maybe a crosshair for more precise sizes? How about a unique pointer shape for the pixel brush tool, which also has pointer snapping to each pixel for even more precision? So many possibilities to make this a really unique experience for the iPad. It would also be nice to have support for multiple windows to make working with multiple docs at the same time easier. Totally understand if this can’t be done due to app memory limits though…

It's promising.... Ever since the death of PhotoForge² (my it RIP next to Sparrow, Poster, KitCam, and now Photoshop Touch) I have been searching for a worthy replacement. While this app doesn't allow me to finally delete PhotoForge off my phone as PhotoForge is still the only app that supports layer masks, it does mostly fill in for the other features. A few other things: Pixelmator for iPhone is lightning fast. I put it through the works and was only able to make it stall on while making a large selection on a huge panoramic image. However, if you do something like adjust a layer's curves (which unfortunately cannot be adjusted in the individual channels yet) it happens in real time and the histogram is updated as you drag your finger around. No other app I have found has both this solid drawing engine and can do general photo editing. Hopefully in the future every feature of the desktop app will be present on the iPhone and the only slow down in editing will come from what is inherent with the form factor.

Selection features is all this app needs!. Object and background removal Sky replacement I been using this app since launch and its been my go to editor on iphone for social media. I just wish there were some faster selection methods than erasing the top layer. Is there anything in the Works for this?

Lovely little app. I’ve had this app for a very long time, never took the time to learn how to use it. I like easy quick fast and fun. Years later, cleaning up my phone opened this app, I had forgotten about. To my amazement, it has turned into the only app I use to edit and design with. I have learned through the method of “school of hard knocks” I dislike reading and generally can not focus long enough for information read to sink in. I suppose I’d rather waste several hours using the trial and error Method than a few seconds or minutes of reading. 🙄 I am still stumbling onto the amazing things you can do with Pixelmator. I have Pixelmator pro on my Mac and I love it! I don’t quite understand what the hype is about other main editing apps and programs are all about and the weird idea of having to pay monthly or yearly to use them? Pixelmator just can’t be beat. With that said, stop thinking about which app to get and we’ll I’ll decide for you, Pixelmator hands down is the way you need to go. 👍

Memory and layer limitations. I am running the latest update of Pixelmator on an iPad Pro 6th generation 12 inch with iPad OS16. My work is very detailed and on many of my projects I often run out of layers. Combining layers as I work becomes tedious and makes future edits difficult. On a recent project there was a memory issue. I saved a file and when I went back to continue work the file would not open. Instead I received an error message concerning file size. There was no warning about a file size limitation until after the file was saved. Now I cannot recover the file and have lost hours of work. Beware that even with a powerful iPad, containing the new M2 chip, Pixelmator is just not suitable for professional work.

A studio on my phone. This is an AWESOME app! Literally fills me with awe. I’m always finding new features and new things to do with it; recently I discovered that I can even lay down a thick layer of color, as I would with my brush, and blend it. I haven’t found a single technique I used as a fine artist that I can’t digitally recreate. But my favorite feature is the one that brushes and pencils don’t come with: UNDO. UNDO saves me from those times when I’m trying too hard to make it perfect, and end up going one smudge too far. With real-world tools, I was stuck. I couldn’t make that mistake disappear completely, and I didn't end up with what I had before I goofed. Now I have the power of UNDO. It’s the little things…

Exactly what I needed. This app is awesome! It brings the sort of editing tools I'd normally reach for gimp/photoshop for to my iPhone in a surprisingly intuitive UI layout. Now I can make spur-of-the-moment memes on my phone >:3

New bugs are making usage a lot harder. This is the best photo editing app I've been able to find, and I've used it for years. But recently, there's some problems, mostly involving layers. The most annoying to me is that, when I copy and paste something, it often ends up far away from where it was copied from, to the point where it's usually out of the editing area entirely. This can be a real pain if the pasted item is very small. There's also cases where layers don't respond when selected, previews on the sidebar don't update... these are all fairly recent, they only started happening in the past few months.

My favorite photo editor. What the h…. this app has only four stars??? How is that even possible? If there’s a 5 star app on my phone, it’s Pixelmator - comparing all the (dozens and dozens) of iPhone editors I’ve tried over the years, Pixelmator takes the crown. Every aspect of this app, every little detail, has obviously been tweaked to perfection. I used to do most of my photo editing on a Mac in the past, but since the day I installed Pixelmator for iPhone I hardly ever open the Mac version anymore - it is such a joy to work with the iPhone app and the results I get are just stunning. A big thank you to the Pixelmator team - these guys have an eye for pixel perfect UI design. I admire how they’re sweating every little detail and how their tools are not only fun to work with but also innovative, clever and inherently usable. 5 stars all the way, well deserved.

One of my top three apps. and gets 5 stars in every category I would rate it on. I edit only as a hobby. I first tried Photoshop-way to big of a learning curve for a hobby. Then I enjoyed 5 years with the paid version of Photoleap but a major update diminished what I liked about it. After 2 weeks of research I decided Pixelmator seemed to offer what I was looking for. WOW! After 9 mos of use I can confidently say it offers the professional level of Photoshop, the ease of Photoleap and a level of help documentation I seldom find in any app in any category. My #1 ask when looking for a new photo editor was that it was available for both iPad Pro 11 and Mac with Apple level cohesiveness between them. I haven’t downloaded the app to my MBP but from the little I’ve seen of it, I have much to look forward to. I’ll report back on that soon!

I miss the smudge brushes. Update- im not sure if the smudge brushes were called the smudge brushes on the app but they were the last set of brushes next to water color and i used it to smudge and blend. There were a lot of options. I miss them. I think there was a wax one and oil one i forget their names even though i used them almost daily for awhile. A friend asked me to touch up a photo and i logged in with intention of the app being the same as i used before and noticed a lot had changed. I tried the new smudge feature and there were no brush options the old app had tons of brushes like 8 or 10. I loved them all. a circle also was there too when i was trying to use the new smudge. Im not sure if there was an option to take that circle away. Some ppl may find it helpful. I also miss the percentage for brush sizes. I also noticed the waterbrush section was missing but i think they may have been condensed into paintbrushes in general. So they still may be there just not in their own catergory. I really appreciate the app and dont want to sound negative i just miss my smudge brushes

Perfect for Pixel Art - Except One Issue. I love Pixelmator - very smooth, simple, and easy to use, with lots of diverse tools. I use it mainly for pixel art, because simply enough, there aren’t and good tools to make pixel art or animations out there. This one has huge potential. One issue, however - when making pixel art, somewhere in the process of closing the file and reopening it, or somewhere in there, it becomes ever so slightly distorted in color. Pixels near the edge of other colored pixels will blend in color - and thus it’s impossible to maintain image quality. I’ve also noticed this in my non-pixellated work - a tiny loss in quality as I work over a period of days. I’ve tried everything to experiment and see if it was me causing the problem - but can’t seem to solve it (using iPhone 6 plus). Unfortunately, I can’t rely on the app to export when using it for game art or anything like that. However, if this issue were to be solved, it would easily be five stars, and the best art application out there.

Blown Away.. This app is simply amazing. It has officially replaced the Photoshop Touch app for me! The fact that I can adjust the curves is just so perfect since I use it so often on desktop editors. Also the UI is gorgeous. You guys have done an excellent job in matching the design with the theme of iOS7/8! Not only does it look beautiful, but it also works in a swift easy-to-use way. It definitely beats the UI for Photoshop Touch! The one thing I would ask for: more options for adjusting the colors of the image. Even though it currently has the most advanced color adjustment tools on the App Store, I would like to see an app that allows me to take full control (Such as in the desktop version of Adobe Lightroom). It would be incredible if you guys could design an app that allows me to adjust things like split toning, individual color adjustments, and RGB curves. It's ok that these features aren't present right now, I'm not gonna complain. This app still gets a 5 star rating from me, and I would totally recommend this to all photographers and artists!

ehhh. my immediate take on this app is that it doesn't do anything new and it's just the same kind of editing and painting available in other apps I already have. and these other apps do it a little better imo. give yourself awhile to get used to the UI, cause it's not very intuitive - at least it's not unless you're thinking in terms Apple Pages as a painting app, then I guess it's solid. maybe if I spend more time with it I might find more unique characteristics that set it apart from the rest, or at least bring it side by side. but I'm not holding my breath. *this app made me think that the App Store, for all of its similarly developed apps that deserve some stark comparisons ought to offer trial periods or the ability to "return" an app for App Store credit. it's impossible to know what works better for what you're doing unless you buy (rent .. we never actually own any app. I've had one or two that I used very often disappear only to return asking for more money) and absorb the cost of experimentation. something should be changed about the commitment to apps - at least those that are used for production (games I suppose should be at your own risk).

No Alpha Masks - don’t waste your time.. What a joke. This is yet another dumbed down image editor under the guise of having “pro" features. Something as basic as editing an alpha mask is missing. There’s all types of smart select tools but they are all garbage because they don’t give you the level of control that a true alpha mask gives you. This is such a let down. The Mac app has this, why not iOS? The iPad with a pencil would be the perfect tool to draw alpha masks, I really don’t understand why the developer would neglect to add such a basic feature that even free image editors like GIMP on Linux provide you. Don’t waste your time with this app like I did. At the end of the day you get some preset effects, and color correction like the stock photos app gives you and some other effects that are more silly then useful. Really regret wasting my money on this garbage.

Just okay. I’ve been using Pixelmator Pro on my Mac for about a year now. I love everything that has to offer. Unfortunately my Mac has been living the last of its life and I’ve decided to go with an IPadpro as replacement (I truly only used my Mac for my hobby of editing photos I take). I was disappointed Pixelmator Pro wasn’t an option for such a great device. Pixelmator is just “okay” for quick edits, but nothing too advanced-at all. I’m sad I don’t have access to the mirror tool, and removing objects more efficiently. I’m just sappy I’ve learned so much of this software yet there’s no Pro version for IPad. If this ever becomes a thing, I’ll definitely be investing once more.

Cloning issue. It has worked fine until recently. Cloning in retouch isn’t working properly on my iPhone. It has been very frustrating trying to get support.

A Wonderful Addition to the Toolbox. Yes, the interface is a bit cumbersome, but Pixelmator is packed with features. It seems most of the poor review are from folks who are looking for yet another app packed with dozens of 'filters', where dropping $5 really would be a big 'splurge'. This is not one of those apps. But if you're looking for an image program that can open up Photoshop files with layers, this is your app. If you need an app that supports layer styles (including strokes, color overlays, gradients, drop shadows, and blending modes), masking with feathering, smart shapes, healing tools, distortion tools, painting ability with over 100 brushes and smudge tools, along with a smart collection of color and level adjustment tools, all in one app, this is a great choice. And it even has some nice filters. Just not hundreds of them. ;)

Not functioning properly. I have been using this app for years and have always loved it, but in it’s current state it is unusable sadly. The selection feature is buggy now, copies of images appear off the screen and editing a copied selection now causes the copy to get imbedded with another image and then disappears.

Great app for photo editing it’s worth the money.. My overall impression of this app is really good being someone that’s experienced and using Photoshop and therefore being kind of spoiled, I really like this app. I do have a couple of small grapes with this app. One feature that all editing software should have as you should be able to crop you’re photos to a specific set size. Let’s say I’m working on a photo that’s already preset For Blu-ray dimensions I should be able to go up in the top left-hand corner and pull the cropping tool all the way down so that it extends from one side of the photo to the other, You should be able to slide the crop box area up and down your photo to select where you want to crop and then crop that photo to your specified dimensions. The second Feature that is missing In this app is save as a tiff file, if you’re an experienced photographer you should know already that if you’re going to edit your file you need to convert it as a tiff file first, the reason for this is most other photo files are compressed like a JPEG file for instance, when you’re editing a compressed photo file and then save that file over again your recompressing the file again causing a artifacts in your photos which completely defeats the purpose of editing your photo In the first place.

Bought it years ago, and still worth it. I bought Pixelmator years ago, and it’s still my favorite iOS editing app. I only have two features that I believe are is missing. One is the ability to select a layer, and crop it. I’ve found a way around it by using the selection tool and then manually cropping but if I’m already at max layers (4 when doing the max size image) I can’t copy it into a new layer so I’m forced to merge layers or manually erase extras. The other missing feature is the ability to pull a color for text with the dropper. It’s available for painting, but not for text color. I believe the image size and layers are a limitation of device speed, to keep the app from crashing or slowing down, but if I’m wrong, that limit should be removed.

Nothing works!!. Attempting to import an image hangs on “loading” and trying to load an existing Pixelmator file will just stay on the files app screen.

Crashes. Keeps crashing when using sliders at the bottom of adjustments. Difficult, no, impossible to submit a support ticket. Finally just deleted it. And, no way to get a refund either. That option is simply not available.

Good app, a few suggestions. The latest update definitely did improve Pixelmator’s design and gave it more editing features for a variety of art styles. However, I suggest a few things to be added/fixed: - Color fill bucket to quickly color in a drawing without having to color it in by paintbrush, which takes longer - An eyedrop tool when choosing colors under the gradient option to make the desired color a gradient - An option to delete color swatches if a color swatch is created by accident - Occasionally, the app would crash while I’m working on a piece of artwork, and sometimes the artwork that I’ve worked hard on would disappear after crashing with no way to get it back, which I was disappointed about. I had first noticed this issue after the big update, so I’m not sure if it had been caused by the update. Saving it does help when I click on “Images” in the top left corner of the screen and going back into my project but I would rather not have to do that and a piece of artwork I was working on somehow disappeared when it had crashed again even though it had been saved more than once. I hope this issue would be fixed to prevent other users from losing their projects, especially ones they spent a long time on.

Improving with each new release. I've been using this app since it first released. I do not find it as intuitive or easy to use as my other long-trusted other apps (Photogene, Snapsee, Procreate, iDraw). It has an interface that in many ways is much like Apple's Numbers & Keynote Apps, which is either good or bad depending on one's tastes. There are certain things this app does which my others either do not do at all, or do not do so easily (healing, is very easy in this app for example, the improved selection tools are great!). Each new release I find the additional features give me even more reasons to use this app on my iPad Pro. I also have the Mac version of this - love the iCloud integration which lets me work on the same file from either device. Thanks to the developers for their passion, hard work, and persistence!

No photo Selecting. I am given no way to access the camera roll on my iPad. Only files

No ability to work with GIFs. The app itself is terrific, which is why I’m rating it four stars. But the inability to work with gifs is very frustrating, and shouldn’t be a limitation of such an expensive app.

Great App just missing some Functions. This app is a great app for editing photos. It’s awesome. The layers, color selection tools, painting tools, selection tools, color editing tools, all the tools are really good. The biggest function that this app lacks in my opinion is a key frame option. The inability to creat gifs or other short animated forms is a reason why I still use other photo editing applications such as photoshop. A key frame feature would be awesome maybe even an option to turn each layer into a gif when exporting. The biggest issue I have with this app is that it never saves projects on the device. I like that it syncs and is well connected to the iCloud but when your working on a project then close the app for a second to check something and then come back and have to wait for the project to download again it’s a big annoyance after a while. If an option could be added to store projects on phone that would be great. I want to thank the Pixelmator team for making this app. It is a great app and overtime I think it will continue to get better. I hope you take on my feedback and eventually the features I mentioned get added. But once again thank you for making the best photo editing app on IOS.

Pixelmator escape!. I have had Pixelmator now for several years, on two different iPhones. An iPhone 5 and now an iPhone 6 Plus. The reason I have not written a review yet, is every time I try to use it & get involved with a picture, it crashes on me. I get frustrated and then put my phone away, or get busy with something else, as I don't think something should take all day to put a simple text on a picture. But it crashed 3 times today, just trying to put my name on a "dummy" picture. One I don't care about. So if I mess it up I can delete picture & all and not worry. But can't even get thru to where you save the picture with text & it shuts down. I've never been able to do one project with out it crashing. So something is wrong somewhere if you can't get it to even stay open. Please fix.

Great!. This app has many great ways to change and perfect your pictures from whole picture changes like adding lens flares, sharpening or blurring the image, or adjusting the saturation, contrast, and lighting with a few clicks. You can also use a (finger) brush tool to make minute and focused adjustments, and there is an awesome repair tool to fix any mistakes within the picture (it is extremely surprising how well it works). There are lots of other things that you can use to change your pictures, and this app is VERY affordable. I would recommend it 100% Some things that I would like to request are buttons to adjust the contrast/lighting/saturation levels by a percentage at a time so that minute adjustments can be made. Also if a picture preview could be used to make sure you know which image you want to use. I’ve noticed that if I have a lot of similar images , I am doing a lot of guess and check to make sure I have the right image. And if that can’t be done, a “replace” option would be nice rather than what is there now. It would also be convenient if you could take photos from your library and open them in the app. Now, I don’t know much about app making, so I don’t know what is or isn’t feasible, but all of these things would be great to see in the app. All in all, this photo editor is fantastic, and I would recommend it to anyone. It’s very affordable and very useful.!!!

Missing most essentials. I kept seeing this app pop up in the editor’s choice section. Their endorsement made me very curious and I debated whether to purchase it for a while. $5 was worth scratching that itch of curiosity. To those that came to a similar point of curiosity, this is for you. There are no gesture shortcuts. You find yourself trying to use a two-finger tap to undo. When you use undo, there’s no redo option. If you accidentally click the undo icon past the brush stroke you wanted to stop at, you can’t regain that progress without redoing it manually. The biggest offender is the lack of an option to disable finger touches. You will constantly make unintentional brush strokes. Combine this issue with an absence of any redo and you end up with frustration. I’m disappointed in this app, but I don’t regret spending the money to know that I won’t be interested in using this. The Adobe Fresco sub is $10 per month, and they haven’t even provided any big updates in a while.

Still fantastic, but with some clunky UI. I have been making edits with this app for several years and I love it! But recent changes have made the tools a bit harder to use, for me. The buttons are now a selection of wide buttons that take up basically the entire width of the tools window (on iPhone), which makes it annoying to quickly go back-and-forth between actions. My suggestion is to maybe offer an option to condense the bottoms to just the symbols, side-by-side. That way you can still recognize each tool while quickly having access to it all on the fly! The other minor annoyance I have is the top options no longer hide when you tap on it. I frequently used this feature to see exactly how my images look as wallpapers. Now I’d have to export the image before knowing exactly how it’ll turn out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Besides those issues, I love this app and will continue to use it for the foreseeable future!

Mini-Photoshop!. If you’re looking for the basics of Adobe Photoshop, this app is perfect! I’ve been looking for a suitable replacement for PS since purchasing the iPad Pro (10.5) this past month. And unfortunately, besides LightRoom, the Adobe iPad apps still fall pretty short. Most people referred me to Affinity Photo on iPad (which looks amazing). But for the price of Pixelmator, I just had to try it out... And WOW 🙈. Awesome job you guys! I’ve been using it with the Apple Pencil for a few days, and for the first time, I actually don’t miss my laptop while doing light photo editing and sketching. Can’t wait to see future updates. Definitely some serious potential here!

Nice, but not quite.. This is one of the best photo editing apps for iPad. However, it's still light years behind the desktop version (which in all fairness, can also be said about the Mac vs iOS Photoshop). Some tasks which are simple and quick on the desktop either take too many steps on this app or are not even possible (there's no "Invert Selection" or a Paint Bucket Fill -- why?!?) It also does not support any shortcuts if you have a bluetooth keyboard connected, which would be very useful. I should probably give it 3 stars but I do give them extra credit for being on the right track. I know an iPad app can never 100% replace the Mac version, but there are some glaring holes in the iOS Pixelmator which leave me scratching my head and thinking "Wait, I can't do the basic task of ABC, but they included the ability to do XYZ which I will probably never use???"

Missing most features of pixelmator for Mac. What few features are available are generally well thought out and adapted for touch - especially on iPhone. However, if you're expecting to have access to any of the vectormator features available on pixelmator for Mac, or even some of the more advanced raster features, like channel masking, you're going to be disappointed. I understand that it's hard to port over all of the features for pixelmator for Mac. However, given that this app is missing so much of the Mac's features, it should be called 'pixelmator mobile' or 'pixelmator pocket'. Finally, there are a few iOS features that this app needs to have: open-in-place on iOS is a must. It's no longer acceptable to only store items inside an app library in iCloud. Users expect to be able to store their files anywhere - iCloud Drive, Google Drive, etc, and edit them without the hassle of importing/exporting to a drive.

I gave three stars. I gave this three stars because I was not able to find stuff since yiu updated the app. It used to be five stars but now three. It’s hard to find where they are.

A second class citizen on iOS until layers support is added. Pixelmator Pro on Mac OS is a fabulous product for anyone looking for an alternative to the Adobe subscription offering. However, the iOS offering does not support all the features available on the desktop product; mostly glaringly the lack of support for layers and .pxd file support. For an otherwise very sound product, this came as a rude surprise the first time I started a project on Mac OS, saved the pxd file to iCloud, then tried to open on iOS with the intention to do some masking refinement using the Apple Pencil. Sadly, this was not supported at the time I write this review. So, beware that there is not proper integration between the desktop and iOS Pixelmators and don’t count on being able to move back and forth between the platforms as part of your workflow.

Great Photo Editor, missing a few features. Overall this is a great tool for doing photo manipulation. I use it for compositing images and annotating images for promotional graphics. The interface is definitely a little challenging to get your head around at first and I wish there were more video tutorials for it, but once you get your head around the limits and idiosyncrasies, you can really fly. Probably the biggest missing thing for me is alpha layers... Without having some kind of alpha mask layer, compositing images is very frustrating. One of the more common things I do is duplicate a layer, mask off part of it them apply filters to one of the layers. This works well for applying an effect to only part of the image. With pixelmater on the iPad the closest I could do to replicating this was copying a section of the page and pasting that as a new layer. This works ok, but you can't adjust which portions of the image are masked after your initial copy/ paste which means if you make a mistake early in the process it's very difficult to fix it without repeating a bunch of steps. Overall, I've been able to do some impressive stuff, but the problems with layer masks and a few UI issues really hold it back. 5 stars because it's the best on the iPad, But it's still missing some vital stuff.

Exit tool in edit takes multiple hits…... Exit tool in edit takes multiple hits to close window when wanting to open new image. Anyone else having this problem on the iPad?

Please at a color picker to the text color panel. I love PixelMator. I’ve been using it since the beginning. Therefore, as an old user, I am asking the developers please consider adding a color pick to the text color panel where we usually choose what color you want for our texts. And one more thing please when we are trying to choose a color, the page will be behind the color panel where we cannot see what color are we actually choosing. So please make sure when we are trying to choose the color the page goes up to the top of the PixelMator window.

I’ve loved this app for awhile but please fix this with new update!. I’ve been using this app since 2015 and it has been a great app with everything I need and more. Unfortunately with the new update that came out recently I can’t darken photos like I was able to before. I loved using this feature and it’s sad to see it change. Please make it darker so I can darken my backgrounds in my photos!! Otherwise this app is great!

okay...but..... Definitely not intuitive for me. Eventually I figured it out, but some stuff is just not possible. 1) can't add text boxes. 2) cant change the color of a selected item 3) since I have to use my laptop to do the previous I actually cannot open the file from imessge. I have to airdrop which is fine unless its collaborative. 4) since there were text layers added, my iPad just doesnt have the processing power so Pixelmator converts the file into a jpeg that isnt editable. which makes it really tiresome going back and forth between devices. Seriosuly? no text boxes? I used Pixelmator to draw out simple food items for a nutritional education project. I wish the crayon really meant the Crayola kind of crayon but fine. And for any kind of marker, i can only use the ballpoint "paint". Otherwise, apple pencil and this app is adequate for my needs...just cumbersome.

LOW RES POS APP!!. I can't believe the positive reviews, this app saves in low res! Hello, Pixelmator, it's 2015! I can't think of any serious photo editing app that doesn't save at native resolution or high res. When you bring in a high res photo from the camera roll and work on it in Pixelmator, the edges are pixelated and remain so when you save. This app is useless. You can't print out work from it as the images are low res and fuzzy. Yeah, if you want a $10 app to edit for Instagram or FB fine, but there plenty, plenty of one dollar or free apps that will do the same and print out high resolution. The excellent Snapseed prints out high res. What the hell is so hard having a developer design a high res app????? I've deleted this piece of crap app off my iDevices until they decide to stop being greedy and actually upgrade this app to high res. how anyone can rate this app higher than one star is beyond me unless they never print out photos. This is really a scam app on Pixelmator's part. Awful.

Awesome product. Absolutely amazing app, easy to use and amazing results in few clicks. I love it. My best investment in app.

Back up all of your images before upgrading. All of my previous Pixelmator projects have lost their thumbnails, so I have to open them in order to see what they are, which changes their time stamps, even if I make no changes. And even then, the thumbnails are not created. Also, regardless of where you opened your project from, when you close that project, it reverts to a (useless) project list, and you have to navigate back to wherever you were when you opened the previous project. And you can't move documents to different folders. Why bother with folders if you can only really find them by going unit "Recents"? I can't imagine any reason for this upgrade, though I suppose people who use Bluetooth keyboards are appreciative of having more keyboard shortcuts.

Can we get a Isometric Drawing Guide (Please). This feature is available in others but I think it would be useful for drawing 3D scenes, and such. Thank you so much, this app is ultimately amazing, some say the new UI is terrible but I disagree because it’s looks more modern and similar to Apple. I hope you implement my suggestion, because I have this and I was sad I had to use other apps such as: Inkscape to make isometric, which not only hard and difficult I feel that you could find a way to do it. Snap to the grid where when you draw the lines would snap to the isometric grid until you disable it, this would be important too. Please do this, overall 10/10.

Pixelmator is now universal! Fantastic app that is fun to use. UPDATE: If there's one feature I could request it would be a button that lets you see the photo before the last edits without hitting the undo button then hitting the redo button. Original Review: I bought pixelmator when it was for iPad only and it was so nice to get the new iPhone version for free! Pixelmator is a very powerful photo editing app that has everything you'd want to create a better looking picture. It has editing tools that the competition doesn't have (eg repair and warp tools) and incredible painting tools that set it apart from the rest. Now that it's universal between iOS and Mac it's so easy to be able to edit your photos wherever you are and then go to another device and see all the pictures you've edited in pixelmator. Great update, and you won't regret buying it :)

Absolutely amazing. Everybody should own this app.. The minute I opened Pixelmator, all of my desktop projects in iCloud were there. Aside from an image size limitation I encountered, the functionality was smooth and powerful. This is a great app with with a great design. It looks and just like the desktop version. This interface so perfectly captures Apple's app aesthetic that you could be forgiven for assuming that Pixelmator had been acquired by Apple. I've been using Photoshop Touch for about a year now, and now that Pixelmator is here I can say: Never again! Are you paying attention Adobe? This is how it's done. Bravo, dev team. I'm looking forward to future updates and a the possibility of an iPhone version as well. The only thing I hope to see updated is the image size limitation. I don't know exactly what that limit is, or whether it is device-specific. I have an iPad 3 (the first retina model).

Great app. This is really nice. Simple yet powerful, it makes my iPad so much more useful. I use it all the time, as I take many photos. I have bought hundreds of apps from the App Store, and this is the first one that is absolutely perfect. The best app I've ever had. I have absolutely no problem with it at all. Don't use this as an excuse to stop innovating, you can be the best of the best of the best. I don't really get why you didn't make an iPhone version. I understand that the 5 and 5s are too small, why not the 6 and 6 plus? They are incredibly powerful and person, I take MUCH more photos with my iPhone 6. I would use Pixelmator a lot more. If I have a photo I want to edit, I have to take part in the lengthy process of transferring it over to my iPad. I think it would be much easier to add compatibility to iPhones. If you do is, then Pixelmator will be a truly great app.

Install fonts. Love that I can create templates to quickly create images for my business - such as testimonials, new listings, just sold. However, can we please add an option to install custom fonts (like Phonto)

Needs the Pro treatment. This app is phenomenal on iPad but I work in Pixelmator Pro on the Mac and cannot continue working on the iPad with the standard version. Would love a Pro app or in-app purchase Pro upgrade

I like. Best app for Mac users - by far. Excellent privacy policy and really easy to use interface. Looking forward to pro-version for iOS soon?

Incredible. This is a professional class app, one of the most amazing pieces of mobile software I've ever used. So powerful. To the idiot who says there isn't a repair tool, yes, there is - paintbrush icon, retouch, repair. It honestly couldn't be much more obvious. Take down your one star review it's obnoxious.

Truly Impressive. It was a great pairing with my new iPad Air 2. I mostly use it for the repair tool, which does such a good job. I created a movie poster with it and was impressed with the level of control over the image. I was able to specify exact pixel dimensions, which I never would have suspected I could do. It looks great, runs like a dream and I can see it becoming part of a serious workflow for both iPhone- and SD-card-based purposes.

Great but where are the masks 🧐. This is a great app and really has a lot to offer. It has a potential of 5 stars, if it would include a few more advanced options, such as masking. It has blending modes, great stuff, but masking is really important. Also would be nice to have a couple more filters. Otherwise, no regrets just looking forward to future updates. Cheers!

Good work in progress. Nice app to use in tandem with desktop version. I just wish it allowed cropping with custom respect ratio and store your own just like with desktop.

My favourite app is ruined now. My heart is broken. I used to be able to do such fine work in Pixelmator, but sometime in the last 2 years they’ve ruined the clone tool, you position the anchor but then as soon as you go to the target area the anchor moves to the target area & literally bobs around with the cursor. It’s unusable. Copy & paste is also bizarre now, it pastes to a random point outside the image & you have to go & find it & try to move it back in without distorting it. I’m going to have to find another app, or just learn Photoshop. I literally only use Pixelmator now to ‘repair’ out the occasional light socket etc from a background because the iOS native photo editor still doesn’t have a repair tool.

Da bomb!. The absolute best! The repair tool is brilliant and all of the other tools work seamlessly together and I love how it can detect your finger pressure and angle. Definitely one of the best image editing apps for iOS out there.

Lots of issues with fonts since the latest update. A lot of my installed fonts on my iPad Pro are no longer showing up properly in the app, instead just showing them in a standard Arial style font. Please fix!

Easy to use (and no not lying a caveman could use this). I love this app while i do have storage issues its still very good for editing photos drawing tho well its good for drawing over photos but not actual digital drawing tho

Warning - Does not work with Pixelmator Pro!. This IOS app does not work with Pixelmator Pro on Mac; it only works with regular Pixelmator. Why they don't mention this in the blurb is beyond me - it took a very frustrating hour to figure out that Pro uses a new file format not supported by the IOS app. Why wouldn't Pixelmator share this information in the description of all three apps? It's baffling. Once you get over that hurdle it is a great bit of software.

Amazing. So simply, yet effective. Like people who have no prior experience with editing could just experience and be surprised with what they can do.

Good Start, needs an update with extra features.. If you have used Apps like Moldiv and Fuzel, you will love this app until you start to do basic photo changes. Trying to replace a photo in a Collage is hard. Trying to move it inside the shape moves the entire shape. Zooming in a photo is impossible in a shape. More templates would be good as well. The selection tool looks great, however slow on an older iPad. Photoshop Touch works better. It does have a magic wand tool, however very limited in terms of editing. More for painting. The interface is great and the app has enormous potential. The app has heaps of features.

Used to be good but now.... Ok this app used to be the best, but now since that newest stupid update a lot has changed. The selection tools are terrible, you got rid of the one where you hold and drag out and it selects that area! BRING THAT BACK NOW! The magnetic one doesn't even work, even it o trace over something small it never gets it. I'm going to have to find a new app to make edits now. And do you know what I think, I think that terrible app stouldnt be worth like $6.99! Don't get this app, it the worst editor app ever!

Decent app, but no Crop tool? Come on... I’ve used this for years, and it’s generally a solid app, but I’ve noticed in recent versions there’s no tool to directly crop an image like there used to be (either that, or there’s a bug preventing it from showing anywhere in the app. This is a really, really basic function of an app and as a result, I can’t really use this, because cropping a section of an image square is important because it’s how I have been creating avatars for years.

Some Thing To Change. The stroke tool on text on small resolutions like 420x590 needs to be fixed.

Delivers on its Promise. This app fully lives up to its description with a comprehensive set of tools and effects and is now my photo editing app of choice. It is well designed and very easy to use on both my iPhone and iPad. My 6 year old grandchildren use it to produce their own original drawings too. Full compatibility with the OS X version is a useful bonus.

THR BEST APP. I don't ever write reviews, but seriously Pixelmator has to be the best app on my phone, iPad and Mac. It is beautiful, simple but powerful, super easy to use and you are almost unlimited in what u can do. I used to pay fully download and crack Photoshop every year, (I normally don't pay for software either) but happily would spend my dollars on Pixelmator again.

Really good but bug/issue prevents saving to camera roll. Awesome app until at some stage in iOS 11 and also iOS 12, Pixelmator doesn’t appear under settings, privacy, photos anymore (it used to) so cant allow it access to photos so can’t save any photos to photos app anymore. Been like this a few months. Uninstalling and installing from app store again hasn’t fixed it. Apart from that awesome app.

DOES NOT WORK.. I use Pixelmator Pro on Mac for literally everything, even word docs. I wanted a seamless workflow for Pixelmator from Mac to a tablet which is the reason I bought a new iPad Air 5th gen. I bought and downloaded the new Pixelmator 2.7 app for iOS. Pixelmator files do not open - Get an Error 1. Creating a new file, blank canvas do not open - Error 1. Nothing opens, the app just does not work. I sent an email to the support email 4 days ago and still no response. Desperately want this to work. Can someone please let me know what’s going on.

Won’t regret! Highly recommend!. I really love this app. So many tools to edit my photos. It’s very professional app. Very easy to use. I paid once and don’t have to pay monthly subscription or app in purchase. Unlike other apps asking $ for every features and updates. Highly recommended! Thank you so much:)

Awesome!. An amazing app from the pixelmator team. Opens my docs from the Mac version without issue. Very intuitive and powerful. And to the guy who thinks the video is for the Mac version....you are wrong. I have the repair tool in this app and it works just as well as the Mac version.

Terrible!! Missing the one feature I paid for!. I downloaded this with the intention of colouring in professional graphics via my iPad using the one tool that for some reason is non inclusive of the iPad app despite being on the Mac version: PAINT BUCKET!!! How on earth could you guys leave such an important tool out????? Usually when you pay for something you can hold the expectation that you are paying for a premium product. As soon as you avenge your letdown I will be happy to modify my review!

Fantastic app!. I just bought this app and, already, I'm SO impressed! It has a resize option - YES! It has some great effects and photo manipulation options without losing image quality. IT!

Good, but.... Pixelmator for the iPad is kind of a jack of many trades, but not really a master of anything. The new brushes are awesome, but doing any kind of layout with its many limitations (a tiny font size maximum and lack of gradient controls, for example) are a pain. So, there's a lot of good here, but it certainly isn't going to replace the apps that really are the masters of what they do.

Wow!!!!!!. What an incredible app, well done. Just wish it was available on the iPhone 6 plus. Love the retouch feature, things just disappear like magic Well worth the cost

Appallingly misleading. Bought this for the repair tool which is missing - and apparently is only available on the new iPad Air despite not being mentioned anywhere in the purchase description or keynote. If you're buying this for the repair version and don't have the new hardware, don't. AUD$6.99 wasted!

Lacking. Problems with iCloud syncing causing loss of work and the inability to select multiple objects/layers is disappointing. Needs better selection tools and lack of updates is concerning ... Latest updates welcomed but crashing issues with groupings ...save often...new file manager is the work of the devil

GREAT APP. Very Useful, flexible and interesting. I Learn a new tool everyday and find new effects to mess around it, maybe make a feature to save a custom size so you don't have to change it every time. All around great app and keep up with new and innovative tools and effects.

Amazing tools for your phone. Really happy with how quick and easy it was to apply different effects on photos. Magic select is magical!

Highly recommended!. I recommend this app because it's really good. It has a variety of materials to use which makes it a great app to use if you like using a different types of materials.

Such great app. Not perfect but love the fact updates and fixes are back

The best photo editing app. As an occasional user of photo editing apps, I must praise Pixelmator as being one of the most user-friendly, sophisticated yet not too complicated photo editing app ever built so far. Absolutely astounding.

Dissapointing. The video for this looks so good. But don't be mislead. The interface is confusing. The "Tutorial" or what seems to be like a little hint on what the tool is and does is too vague. No Apple Pencil Support. No RAW photo editing. Its missing a lot of standard features these days and is not even worth the 99 cents right now. Buy it if your quick learner, can put up with 2014 features and can understand very vague things.

Didn't finish loading :(. Almost completed loading but didn't make it and is now stuck. Can't restart the install or delete it! How do I rid of it please? I take that back. Left iPad alone for a couple of hours and went back to Apple Store and new message allowed me to download again. Phew this time success..thank you! Hopefully it will all work well now ;)

They do listen and act quick. I am about to delete the app because it didn't provide repair tool (older ipad ver) - That is the only reason i bought the app in the first place. But surprisingly, i found that the new update include the repair tools and it also enhanced a number of minor problems. I think they worth me to give back the stars. I will be peace of mind to buy anything from the company in the future. Good work!

It’s easy. It works. It’s Pixelmator.. I was excited to learn that Pixelmator was coming to iOS for my iPad when I watched the keynote. Being a user of the desktop app for years (however preferring other products due to my own habits) I was really interested in Pixelmator for iOS. I currently use a 12.9” iPad Pro 2nd Gen. I downloaded this app several months ago and have not looked back. I’ve used this app for literally everything that I had use for in regards to image editing and creation and I’m quite impressed at how powerful yet incredibly easy this app is to use. I’ve created application interfaces, cropped and rendered images, merged and edited photos and just made my own photography work shine with Pixelmator. I’m really, really impressed with this app. Everything is easy to find and use and everything just works (and works well, I might add). I was really sceptical about using a proper image edited on the iPad using touch (and not a mouse) but Pixelmator crushed my doubts. I would thoroughly recommend this application to anybody who wants to do any kind of photo editing. This is a true desktop replacement image editor.

THE BEST!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️. This is definitely the best app I've bought and I never regret buying at all! A must-have if you just want to play around with your photos on your phone or if you want your photos professionally done right in your palm! I can delete all the other photo editing apps now!

Simply brilliant. Very easy to use, fast and intuitive. By far the best editing application yet. Totally recommend this app, so much so, Apple should snap it up and include up and coming in their iPhoto application. Check the video tutorials with guides and tricks on their website to maximise knowledge of using the application because it shows just what you can do. This is truly excellent value.

Not quite a replacement for photogene. This app was one listed as a replacement tool to Photogene⁴. While this is an easy to use app, it’s is not a photogene replacement. The workflow is awkward, processing and adjusting functions are not as effective and harder to use. Such as curves, level adjustment and something as simple a sharpening. I will have to keep looking....

Amazing, love it!. This app is really good! First, I tried the app 'Photoshop', because on the computer that works really well, but on the iPad, it was terrible! Then I bought this app, and it was way better! 😀

good but lacking. Please add an edit menu function. I don't like having to use the eraser to delete a selected area. Photoshop touch has it!!! Plus please improve the extension performance. Applying some effects inside the iOS photos app takes forever..

Well Made, Simple Photoshop for iOS. What I love: - Designed as if it was made by Apple - Feels like a "simpler" version of Photoshop but for iOS (works on both iPad and iPhone FYI) - iCloud support for Mac and iOS versions - Constant updates; always taking advantage of the latest technologies that come out, fixing things, adding new things, awesome! - Don't think I've experienced any bugs ever, very well made

Ripped off and mislead. I feel ripped off and misled I thought this was a "full featured" pixelmator for iOS something similar to the desktop app which I like. Could not be further from the truth. Don't wast your money as it should have been free, even then not worth the storage space on your device.

The best!. I love this app so much! Literally knocks down the Photoshop App by Adobe. Worth getting for the price, it's also quite cheap as well! Definitely one of my favourite apps!

My best App Store buy of the year!. What a great app - saved me twice already today. I shouldn't be so surprised, after all the Mac app is great, too! Fantastic and highly recommended!

Bug found. When you make a folder by dragging two image files then bring a file out of the folder to make another folder with other image, image files in the first folder will corrupted. I've just lost 2 files after modifying. So annoying

Perfect app. This app is brilliant, I spend a lot of time on it. It was quick to learn and very intuitive. Thank you for a great app! The only thing that it lacks in my opinion is a perspective editing feature. It’s listed on the forums and I hope it is a release soon. None the less I’ve recommended this app multiple times and take this as me recommending it again. Thank you.

NO LONGER SAVES ANY FILES!. This app used to be fantastic. But with each software update, it’s degraded to the point it no longer saves new files to my iPad. When I reported it to the developers, they did not believe me and kept telling me to check my iPad as it “must be saved somewhere.” It’s not. I checked every single folder for the files I created using this app and they’re nowhere to be found. I’m certain I’m not the only person having this issue. It’s one thing to have a major issue like this, it’s another to be told I’m wrong.

dude this thing is sick. this is like the only App Store review I’ve ever left but this is the best app I’ve ever bought. Been using it for years, quicker faster easier and better than photoshop for 95% of things I edit, and I be editing. It’s not Lightroom (at least on iPhone) so don’t expect it to be better at editing colours and exposure and stuff, but it’s infinitely better than the photoshop app for iPhone for graphics, edits, etc. Thanks guys. You make my life easier

Update. Terrible update, all the good brushes are gone now, and finding any brushes is harder. And you still have some small undo arrow hiding way up in the corner. Just bad. Can we please have the watercolour brushes back, at the very least? 🙄

Need an update. A lot of bugs and freezes many times

Great app!. Use it all the time on my iPad! Offers a lot of features; hope more will come in the future, like mask!?

Pixelmator. Piece of crap.

The new update is awful. Used to love Pixelmator, but the new update has taken away the most creative templates and replaced them with boring old squares. Whose idea was this?

Granted l am no expert. But when Adobe PS wouldn’t work on iOS 11 I was really sad, but once I found this app I was elated. It took this app and 30 seconds to do what it used to take me 30 minutes and 3 apps to do. It is a fabulous app that replaces 3 really clunky ones (the other 2 where a collage app and a paint app so that I could add text) Take that Adobe and your stupid subscription service!😝

Incredibly awesome. Wish I found this earlier.

My favorite iOS photo editor. Powerful features. Love to be able to do layers on the phone. Spot adjustments like dodge and burn. Warp. Fantastic!

No Masking?. With no layer masking and no clipping masks this is not a full featured app. Disappointing

Great work flow no issues, sometimes I like it more than the desktop version. One thing it’s missing is the iPhone X screen ratio as a crop aspect preset.

Terrible output resolution. Fairly easy to work, but the output has been very frustrating. It appears to convert images to BTM for image manipulation and then output a very degraded image no matter what export setting I use. Resolution would bring a much higher rating.

Love it until it freezes. Just bought the app and love it. Edited one photo and then the minute I opened the second photo, it freezes. App crashes every single time now. Please see what's wrong?

Best Pixelmator feature. I have been using the app for many years now and one of their most unrecognized feature is the ability to change the art board size and make it almost as big as a billboard?!?! Okay a bit of enthusiastic exaggeration here but if your photos or artworks involving ‘pixels’ you will be pleasantly surprised the quality of the output when you print. A must have app.

Extensive editor. Learning curve, but fantastic capabilities

Excellent!. A very good photo editor at a very affordable cost. It has a bit of a learning curve but that is to be expected that offers a rich set of photo editing tools. Also, I love and appreciate the idea behind the pay once for the full version approach. Please keep it at the same. I do have a few suggestions though which might make the user experience a little better: 1. Redos are hidden behind a tap and hold and you have to repeat the action multiple times to redo your last action. Both redo and undo as well as most of the other actions could be replaced with icons (also to preserve real estate). A long press could possibly host a sub menu or a text/header/hint. 2. State management for undo and redo is good. Maybe in the future a History tab could be provided for a quick undo/redo. 3. Gradients seem to be missing. 4. I am not sure as I haven’t compared but I have a feeling that blending modes could be more powerful. 5. Blending modes are indispensable to photo editing but again, are hidden behind a Format menu. That is not at all obvious to the user. I believe blending modes should also be accessible from the main page. 6. Blending mode cannot be currently applied to a group. You have to ungroup the images, apply the mode and then group the images again. Though you do have the option to merge. There might be a few more things but I am pretty sure the team behind Pixelmator already has priorities set for improvements and add-ons for their next version. Overall, very good and I would suggest people to support the engineers behind this.

Exactly what i needed. This app is so well conceive. It's an almost complete photo editor and for my use, it is on par with its mac counterpart. I can finally edit my pictures on the go without traveling with my mac. This app is worth its price. :D

Bad color banding issue. The gradient maker is useless as there is a massive color banding issue. I reached out to the developer months ago and the issue has yet to be addressed. I will update my review when the issue is fixed!

Amazing. Great app for photo editing and graphic design that i’ve used for years!!

I love it, but it crashes. When it works, it works great! It’s been crashing on me a lot lately! Deleted and reinstalled, but it now seems worse. I love it when it does work. I am using the ios version on my iPhone 7+ and it’s just frustrating to use this app right now. I’ve recommended this app to a lot of photography and arts and craft pages, so double frustration for me because I am recommending an app that does not work properly. Please fix the crashing issues.

Enables advanced editing on a mobile device.. I can edit photoshop level images on my device. Older devices will have problems with this app but newer devices should work fine. The only issue I have is that you can’t edit RGB channels individually but regardless it’s still a great app.

Great but a few suggestions!!!. There should be a clipping mask option along with maybe a pen tool. (Like photoshop)

iGypsy37. I have been using Pixelmator since it first came out on desktop and after that iOS. It is my number 1 go to app for editing and building images. There is so much that can be done with this app. I highly recommend it! What I would like to see, though, is the ability to position the centre point of the vignette effect anywhere on the image.

Pretty alright. Decently powerful for an iPad editor. The menu based selection is cumbersome. The worst part is the hidden layer, it shrinks to hide, so I have to click on it to see what’s in it. Really inconvenient when I’m working with multiple layers. There are better editors out there but this is pretty alright regardless!

Layers and selecting are amazing. I can't believe this app is only 5 bucks. It feels so powerful!

FORGET PHOTOSHOP!. I’m only a hobbyist but everything I used to do in photoshop can be done in Pixelmator. Forget Adobe’s monthly fees and buy this once!!! I use it on the 12.9” iPad Pro.

A necessary app. This is my ‘go to’ app for any composition requiring layers, transparency, blending images, etc. There were a couple of issues but I see they’ve been fixed. It’s a powerful app with many functions.

July update is great. One request though.. Please add back numerical values to sliders. Useful for consistency when editing multiple photos. Thanks.

2 stars dinged for losing all my documents when I exchanged iPad. iCloud sharing only is just garbage for those of us who refuse to buy into more cloud storage. I need to offload my documents to desktop, NOT TO A STUPID CLOUD. I lost every document in frustration when I tried to offload some work before restoring and exchanging a device. Why not just keep a doc in iTunes file share? I am so sick of the lack of transparency and redundancy of iCloud sharing running amok and trying to take control of everything I do on my Apple gear.

whatever you updated, change it back. Photo picker just freezes now when I try to import images from my library. never used to do this, iPhone 7 Plus.

Doesn’t work for anything but pictures that are good in the first place👎. Horrible this works nothing like it is advertised and I regret paying for it

Meh. It doesn't have a lot of features that other apps have -- too many to list. Also, very buggy when using add to selection. I always end up stuck, and have to kill the app and start over. Time to move on to better apps for me.

Arrêt. L’application ne fonction plus du tout dommage .

Mask. Good app...I could really use a paint-on mask that toggles + and -...feathers as well.

Interface needs to be updated.. Love this app but I 100% believe it could be better with an improved interface.

Images stopped saving. My images aren't saving anymore.

Looooove it. I love this app so much. I hope it continues to get support since Pixelmator Photo, while also awesome, is a different kind of app all together. This is my go-to tool for creating images for work that need to be specific resolutions and many of my posts on Instagram start here since Instagram crops portrait oriented photos

You can’t really adjust colours in a colour selection. Doesn’t give you the option of deselecting colours in the colour replace and adjust mode which makes that kinda useless. If you are trying to select any colour even remotely close to a colour in another area of the photo you can’t remove selections like you can in photo shop. Hard to find solid information if the desktop app would be any better. For people who need to select colour around hair etc it won’t work.

Poor design. The app is poorly designed, the layer menu always appears when you swipe from the left edge, even while youre trying to draw something using a brush... Annoying.

Recent Update. Makes it impossible to import photos directly from your photos app on iPhone rendering the App almost completely useless. Why do I have to choose the size of the Template before importing a photo? So many terrible changes.

Best Image Manipulation App. This is the best image manipulation application on the AppStore that I could find, at first I was hesitant to buy it but after using it for some time and learning the layout/how to properly use it, it’s easily the best app. Great if you’re looking for something like Photoshop/GIMP on IOS.

Slows updates. But still lacking. I LOVE Pixelmator for the desktop, but the iPad app is very disappointing. One of the things that needs to change, which would greatly improve my review, is regarding the lack of ability to import drawing tools. The limited selection they have are not good, and they are all “chisel tips” that draw with a sort of ribbon effect. For inking, this is no good. But if we had the ability to import brushes from the desk top version, I would enjoy the iPad version so much more. But until they do, this is still sits in my off loaded folder. :(

Great graphic editing apps. I use this for all my office marketing. It’s pretty easy to use. I wish you could crop individual layers.

Great investment. Bought this app in my first year of Middle School, gathered up some money (that was a lot for me at the time) and paid for it. 5 years later, now at my end of High School, I am still using it regularly for school or personal projects. Had a bit to learn at the beginning, but it’s a great tool for what it’s worth and gets the job done if you know how to. Couple of my school friends ended up buying this too. Would recommend

Brilliant and easy to use. This app has sold me Pixelmator for Mac but the iOS version is so much easier to use so I don’t even bother with the Mac version. Still great to support the dev for such a great piece of work.

Good but.... The app itself is really good, excellent editing and tools selection! However, once you save your file (or by mistake) there is no redo... you cannot redo what you did... please fix it!

Waste of money. Wow. This app sucks. Total waste of money. Dedicated photo editors like dark room are way better, and as later editing tool this thing is garbage!! Trying to select, mask and crop is a nightmare. Wish I could have tried before buying. Total junk wish it was possible to get a refund.

Lightroom and Photoshop Mix Kill This App. Long time user of both Lightroom and Photoshop- wanted to try Pixelmator because I’ve seen a few articles on it and a few decent reviews. If you’re a professional photographer and editor, using this app is a serious step backwards! Lacks professional look and interface, tools aren’t visible without hunting through menus and overall image control is practically as simplified as the iPhone photo editor tool that is already on your phone as default. Save your money, I wish I could get mine back! instagram: @benji.i

Stunned!. Wow...I am actually stunned at what you CANNOT do with this app. I just assumed that with all the five-starred ratings (let alone the $10 asking price) that this app would rise and shine above the rest. Wow...what it doesn't offer: the list far out weighs what the app is actually capable of doing. I just don't get where all of the high ratings are coming from. I've been a long-time user of ArtStudio and Leonardo, and will continue to use them as my number ones. Also...about Photoshop Touch. I wasn't real thrilled with that, and I forked out ten dollars disappointingly so. But I have to tell you...if you are just itching to spend ten dollars of your hard-earned money then go for Photoshop. Pixelmator can't even compete. Having ranted long enough, I suggest you try ArtStudio (great source for layers and masks) or Leonardo (many editing options). Don't waste your money here.

Awful.

CURRENT Third Party Bluetooth stylus support for iPad Pro. Update I will keep rating down until you update iPad Pro support for current Adonit and Wacom Bluetooth stylii. I just rated down your app to a single star. Why won't you DO this? Not everyone is enamoured with Apple Pencil. I MUCH prefer my Adonit Pixel/Pixel Pro on my 1st gen iPad Pro! It has been working wonderful for me for both the last month and the last two years! You used to support Wacom and Adonit AND Adonit makes it very essy to incorporate their own SDK in drawing and notes apps. Come guys and gals, just update third party stylus support on the iPad Pro, already! I promise a 5-star, glowing review if you just do this! Why won't you guys update support for all current third Party Bluetooth from Adonit and Wacom stylus and support these on the iPad Pro models? I am NOT a fan of the Apple Pencil and prefer my Adonit Pixel Bluetooth stylus as my stylus of choice for MY iPad Pro for the last two years! Adonit makes it very easy to incorporate their latest stylus SDK into apps. Why won't you simply just update the Adonit and Wacom stylus drivers in your app, please. I will continue to downgrade your app until you bring back current full third party Bluetooth stylus support FOR ALL iPAD MODELS, INCLUDING ALL iPad Pro models!!!

Just not hundreds of them. ;)

The second Feature that is missing In this app is save as a tiff file, if you’re an experienced photographer you should know already that if you’re going to edit your file you need to convert it as a tiff file first, the reason for this is most other photo files are compressed like a JPEG file for instance, when you’re editing a compressed photo file and then save that file over again your recompressing the file again causing a artifacts in your photos which completely defeats the purpose of editing your photo In the first place.

okay...but.....

Highly recommended. Ever since I got my iPad mini, I've been looking for an app to edit pictures. While I don't do much on my iPhone (or iPod) I really liked to edit images on tablets. I've used photoshop touch on my previous tablet (Samsung) but wasn't sure if the iOS one was good enough. When I finally decided to but it, it was removed so my next option was this one. I've used it on my Macbook, so I know its potential but I'll admit, I'm actually impressed with the application. For $5 this is a must have... The Mac version is great as well. This team have make a great effort and its well payed.

User experience needs work. While I like what this app has to offer, I think the overall user experience needs improving. First thing is the resizing/crop function need to have its own button, the fact that it's an open function and can be accessed at anytime another function is not being used presents an opportunity to move the image without a even knowing the image moved (especially when working closeup). I have done this multiple times then went and used another tool and it automatically crops. So annoying, please fix. In addition to this the undo cache is too small, why not just keep it all or at least give the option to set it.

It’s become unusable. Used to use it for everything. Now it has become unusable.

Wonderful tool, that sometimes screws your work. So often after VERY precise editing, cutting, distorting, etc, I find my image to be TOTALLY messed up, without my own doing. I am cutting away probably 10 or 25 pixels at a time in a photo, and I zoom out when finished and several large cuts have been made on the corners of the image. VERY FRUSTRATING, especially after about 30 or 40 mins of editing the photo. Another time I was distorting a photo with warp and pinch. I clicked apply when finished and it glitches, flips the image sideways, and distorts a different part of the image. I tried again, and the same results. I even tried starting from scratch thinking it may be a temporary glitch, but it happened AGAIN! In short, VERY wonderful tool *ideas*, and very wonderful app when the tools ACTUALLY work.

Excellent Version 1.0. Loving Pixelmator for iPad so far! It seems to have most of the basics that I have come to expect from the desktop version, which is saying a lot. It even allows me to change the canvas size of the image(!) which no other program I've seen at any price point seems to do. The only immediate con, is that I’m still trying to find out the analog for the paint bucket, but otherwise it's easy to use with just my fingertips. Can't wait to try it with a pressure-sensitive stylus! If you want a full featured image editor at a decent price, this is it. And this is just version 1.0. It can only get better.

Froze on save. Lost work. Stay away. Worse than useless.

Really disappointing. Check out the PhotoShop PS. I think it is superior to Pixelmator. They both list for $9.99. App of the Year... I thought this would be a blockbuster app. I've used PS for a couple of years and love it (my thing is "serious" editing of photographs). I thought this app is newer than PS and being AOTY... It must be good if not great; maybe better than PhotoShop is what I hoped. But I was really disappointed! PhotoShop IMHO is miles ahead of this app. I don't know what to say. Pixelmator is really much much better than 99% of all the other Edit/SFX apps out there. It's worth 20x more than the free to $1.99 apps out there. If you're really into it I'd say you should buy this app and the PhotoShop app too. It's $20 but I gotta tell you. You gotta try both and decide for yourself. At this point I think PhotoShop is better. But maybe I don't get what it takes to be App of the Year. Someone should do a direct comparison of the two. Please let me know if they do. I've looked and looked and can't find anything that comes close to Photoshop for the iPad. If there is something better I wish I knew what it was.

Dangerous feature. I understand this is a $5 app, but it really messed up my work. I opened a lineart jpeg and started to color and shade it. There was only one layer. To get the detail I would pinch to zoom and scroll around. Evidently, even with one layer, you can tap on it and it selects the layer. I must have tapped once on it by mistake and when I was scrolling, it actually moved off the canvas. After adding some detail, I zoomed out and noticed but it was too late. It had been cropped by the edge of the canvas and the undo did not go back far enough. Having limited features is one thing on a $5 app, but this kind of destruction just because I happened to tap on it makes this app unusable to me. And this was just in the first few hours of purchasing it. I wonder how many other destructive things can be done accidentally.

Amazing surprise update! 2 Stars added!. My review has been stuck at 2 stars for years now due to Pixelmators lack of keyboard support and convoluted UI. The latest update finally made this app useable so I’ve added 2 extra stars to my review. - Keyboard support. Thank you SO much for adding keyboard support. This completely reinvigorates the usefulness of this app. Pixelmator on iPad is finally desktop-class. - Convoluted UI saved by keyboard shortcuts. The UI remains convoluted. Having all options tucked into one drop down menu is insane. Even the simplest of tasks requires clicking and scrolling through SO MANY drop downs...BUT, the newly-added keyboard supports adds shortcuts for just about everything in Pixelmator. This means never having to sift through that dreaded paintbrush-shaped drop down menu again. So while the UI should still be rethought for those who don’t use a keyboard with their iPad, any keyboard-using Pixelmator-fanatic should be beyond pleased. Great job and thank you so much for this fantastic FREE update!

Please fix.

Best photo-editor ever. This is probably the best photo-editor on ios. The interface is great, and it is easy to learn how to use it. It is just like an app made by apple, which makes it easier to use. There are also so many different functions and things to do. The only problem is that some things are a bit hard to find, but if you are used to apple's pages and keynote, you should eventually find them. I've had this for a day, and I've already photoshopped my family. They're pretty realistic as well, given the fact that I've just started photo-editing.

it is has a great scientific use. i believe most of the reviews are talking about the awesome feature and usage of this app in design and retouching photos in general use. i am using the app to retouch my scientific photos i am getting from SEM (scanning electron microscope). some pictures has the dimensions of feature size that i want to remove and write it in nice way for publication use. this app is great to remove all the unwanted text in the picture and dimensions to retype in neat way for publication. i wish the mac version should be free or vice versa. it is not a good idea that customers should buy both versions.

No photo Selecting. I am given no way to access the camera roll on my iPad. Only files

ehhh. my immediate take on this app is that it doesn't do anything new and it's just the same kind of editing and painting available in other apps I already have. and these other apps do it a little better imo. give yourself awhile to get used to the UI, cause it's not very intuitive - at least it's not unless you're thinking in terms Apple Pages as a painting app, then I guess it's solid. maybe if I spend more time with it I might find more unique characteristics that set it apart from the rest, or at least bring it side by side. but I'm not holding my breath.

Finally a developer cares about the iPad. Pixelmator is a tremendous app on the Mac and I was excited to get it on my iPad. It’s better than I could have imagined. I have wanted Pixelmator for iPad for years because it is an app that I always felt would be perfect for the iPad. Recently, development for the iPad has slowed as developers have just decided that the iPad isn’t good enough for the apps they want to make. This is such a ridiculous notion and I am so glad that Pixelmator proves them wrong. This is desktop class software on an iPad and gives me one more reason not to use my Mac. I completely recommend Pixelmator. It’s a steal at the current price.

Mask Clipping. The app is really good they just need to add mask clipping

Powerful. This app is rich in features. The amount of brushes you have to choose from is incredible. I enjoy having shapes and layer effects. The only feature I want is the editable shapes and text which I'm sure they're working on. The multi-layer editing is great for on the go graphic design. Pixelmator Has a great team behind it and having owned the Mac version for quite a while I can honestly say updates and fixes are common they don't release stuff and forget about it. It can only get better. Just because it's a five star review doesn't mean it's fake...Some people will actually appreciate the work that went into this app.
