What is filmic legacy app? Filmic Legacy is available only to filmmakers who paid for Filmic Pro v6 before the 25th of August, 2022. It will continue to receive bug fixes but will not receive any new features.

Here’s the deal, there ain’t no gosh darn deal!. Everything is great until people get greedy. As others have said, it was a good app, then the developers got greedy and now we have a worthless buggy app that no longer functions as it was intended. Serval phones can’t connect to others via remote which was why I originally purchased this. The developers should send back the money to everyone who bought v6. Shameful, disgraceful, and utterly deplorable. End of line

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.. I don’t know if you guys are getting greedy or just simply bored. This used to be the best app on the market. I had a subscription to all of your services. Then I looked up and you guys changed your subscription. Why??? Then somehow I’m not subscribed, when I paid in full a year ago..Smdh

Useless. I understand that there is a new app but making this one nonfunctional is just unacceptable. I have lost 2 hours of footage due to audio sync issues that cannot be addressed nor fixed. I’ve searched all over the internet and I’ve got nothing. There isn’t even a place to reach out for support from the company anymore. Thank you for this lesson in late stage capitalism. I used this app for work and lost out because of it. May the developers have the day they deserve.

App held hostage. I’m cool with changing your business model, when presented with the option I typically choose the subscription model to ensure access to the latest features. However; 1. changing the model, 2. replacing my paid for app with said model, 3. instructing me to download a new ”legacy” in order to access functionality that I paid for then 4. forcing me to agree to new terms to use the app seems sneaky at best. Make a new thing explain the Benefits and allow me to make the decision. In short I’m out.

App was acquired and became a subscription model bait and switch. This is positively nauseating. One of the best video apps in the history of the App Store has pivoted into a subscription scam model to squeeze recurring revenue from people no matter how much they actually use the thing. How wonderful, one of my favorite tools has been turned into a SERVICE that people can REPEATEDLY pay for if they want version updates. Oh, and very cute, users who purchased this tool back when it was a tool and not a SERVICE get to download this sneaky always-unlocked version of the app. Hooray for me and past owners. Downright gross for future users. I can’t believe an app and development team I had the utmost respect for and who I felt had the utmost respect for their users would make such a greedy, frustrating, backwards and upsetting decision. This app was once truly wonderful. However, I will never recommend it to another living soul as long as the team continues in this anti-consumer, anti-creativity new direction. Shameful, unexpected, and so very sad.

I WANT A REIMBURSEMENT.. I paid for an app that is not longer working properly. Filmic Legacy 6 is not even available in the store. Let’s say I buy your yearly subscription. Let’s say it is amazing, let’s say I want it. But the only way I’d do that, is if the money I used to purchase the previous app, go towards the new one. In other words, there SHOULD be a discount of EXACTLY the same amount of money previously paid or I want my money BACK. So, tell me which is it? Thank you.

Can nobody read?. Did everyone who is mad bother to read? V6 is still available for those who paid before Aug of 22. V7 is paid.. Granted I don't think it's worth what they're asking, but that's their choice. Adobe used to be a one time payment and they got away from that.. That's why we have great choices like DaVinci. I'm still using v6 and it works the same as before.

Developers can do what they like in terms of licensing but they should be forthcoming. When you licensed the tool, it is one time payment and now it is service based and you have to pay every week whether you use it or not. It may be good for some and certainly not good for others. Most companies got into this service model driven by financial analysts or VCs to get better valuation by showing more recurring revenue instead of providing value and being innovative; big companies that can monopolize have monopolized and got away but smaller ones that go with service model as “me too” should think twice as their culture is innovation and value creation to attract customers but not jerk around customers.

I paid $15 and then they make you have to pay a subscription smh. At least advertise this better or give me my money back. I paid for the app I should not have to pay a subscription. At least give your Loyal Customers v7 free and make a new feature pack to pay for instead like a package rather than completely limiting your app we paid for under a subscription paywall.

Not a fan of subscription model, but . . .. FilmicPro has been great. Paid a hefty price early on, felt it was worth it then and have not regretted my purchase. Times change, I get it. While v7 is intriguing, I was tempted, however another monthly cost is not in the cards. That may change at some point in the future. For now l stick with 6 and give kudos to the team for not forcing v7 without a v6 umbrella

I have put a complaint to Apple. Filmic Pro I am very disappointed. Having the app update to a different program. and then having the Apple user sign a waiver that you’re not responsible for treachery. I have put a complaint to Apple on this practice, if you wish to start charging subscription. you should do that to the new user to a different filmic Pro program.

This app’s developers must be from a 3rd world country. To think that business is done in this way where they can charge you for a premium version of something, then bail on it a few months later and just call it something else. Obviously, If you stop updating it, it’s not going to work anymore. The quality will be garbage, because your operating system will be updated and the app will not work the same anymore. What scum.

I Paid for mine years ago!. I will not pay monthly or yearly subscription! i will move on to something else that i can buy. I used this app in over 200 video projects and its sad to see someone like me who purchased and supported this app just get left behind and forced to purchase monthly or yearly subscriptions. I feel the people who paid she get a pass. All good things comes to an end i guess…

New Subscription Model is TERRIBLE!. I paid for the Filmic Pro V6 app in 2017 and have loved using it ever since. It has been my default for taking videos since I purchased it as it once was the best video app that could be bought. Now they lock the new features behind a subscription wall cost $1.99 a week or $40 A YEAR!!! This is outrageous! I Hate that this app has now moved to a subscription model with no option to purchase the software! Why couldn’t they leave V6 alone and release V7 as a different app but no!! If you update Filmic Pro, it forces you to move to V7, then one has to jump through hoops to download the legacy version and move footage back to the legacy version. I get that you can’t keep supporting V6 long term without gaining additional revenue, but switching to a subscription model, for $40 a year! Why can we just buy V7 for $15 or $20 once and not have to pay yearly! That would at least be better than continuing to pay for a tool. I don’t have to pay every year to use my Sony camera, nor do I pay to pay every year to use the default camera app, ProCam or another app. At the very least past customers should have the ability to pay once for V7 and use it until V8 comes. I get that you have the right to make this move, but I also have the right to use something else which I might have to do. This was a disgusting way to go about releasing an upgrade!

Original Version was better. Sadly I have had an issue with the app since it changed to legacy. The audio seems to work sporadically. I use to use a rode wireless with the app and it worked before perfectly fine and after the update my audio seems to stop working. Even after switching back to the phones mics they still don’t work. I’ve attempted this on two devices and same thing happens.

Disappointing that you decided to switch to a subscription model. Well, this is a new and annoying development. I now have to get an unmaintained legacy app after supporting your app and company version after version, and now am FORCED into a subscription model that I don't want and can't stand. And it is overly expensive for an app that I use for special circumstances. A shame, as you have lost a paying customer, and judging by your recent reviews, you lost A LOT of paying customers. And the little you've done to retain your once paying customers, is really a slap in the face. How about a discount for the long term customers who have been with you since version 1? How about grandfathering in those repeat paying users? Nope, would rather taking advantage of the customer base, and locking features behind an INSANE subscription model like other terrible companies. Well, congratulations Filmic, you've arrived— you're just as terrible as everyone else. Jacking up prices during a recession, offering little to justify doing so, and seriously upsetting a large portion of your user base. Bra-Vo. You played yourself and pivoted to being another in a long string of companies flushing customer goodwill down the toilet. Good luck. You won't be doing it with my money.

READ BEFORE RATING!. This is the original app and is still great to use. If you’re upset about the new subscription based model go onto the NEW app (not this one) and down vote it until Apple takes it off the store. I’m voting this up to keep it on here because I still use it but I’m down voting the new one because they screwed us over with the subscription based model that basically does THE SAME THING.

Where are my presets (THAT I PAID FOR)???. I cannot believe how shady this company is. I don’t care if your new V7 is the greatest camera app ever created, I will NEVER support this company or their apps again. Where are the presets that I PAID FOR in this “Legacy” app?? You’ve clearly nerfed this app to try and get people to buy into your garbage subscription service. I hope it fails miserably. I have no idea why you sent out a survey to all your loyal users only to do exactly what you wanted anyway.

Thank you Filmic pro. The best Filmic app on the market. Thank you filmic pro for giving us the opportunity to enjoy the Legacy Filmic pro App as a loyal customers. I will be using the new Version 7 as well but it is nice to have the original old school legacy version 6.

No subscriptions. I’m a fan and occasional user of Filmic Pro. I’ll reserve judgement until I see if the “Legacy” version is maintained. It’s fine if you want to charge professional or very frequent users a subscription, but I don’t want or need any more monthly tabs with the Apple store nor do I need anything more sophisticated than the already excellent app.

Switch to Cinema P3!!. Nothing makes me more furious than when a company switches to a subscription model after people have already purchased so many pro upgrades! And then to top it all off they take all the positive reviews from their last app and move it to this app by using a loophole! Shameless and unethical. Switch to Cinema P3 NOW and don’t pay a penny to filmic pro. If they do this to their existing, long time customer base, what else will they do in the future? Cinema P3 if Just as good and has 99% of the features and are innovating constantly.

Legacy Downgrades From most recent paid version. Before the most recent 7 update, we has a newer paid version than what was given in the “Legacy” version. We should’ve just been given 7 as the last update and make it legacy. At what point will support disappear? This was my favorite recording app, but I won’t pay an additional subscription fee for it.

They did us dirty. Imagine buying a car, you pay a big price (by car standards), and after a few years you wake up and someone wants to rent it to you. No bargaining. Nothing. They say, but look, we got you a car that you didn't agree to and with less features. This was a low blow from a company with loyal customers. Just cause they did us dirty, should I need to you a subscription film or photo app, they will not be my first choice. Ugly move, people. You could have done better.

Another trash company who could care less about the end user. Bought this app quite a while ago and used it often. I stupidly updated because I thought “finally an update after all these years!” Only to find out that they only changed the look and now want users to subscribe. Terrible that this is the direction all companies are going. I urge you to not use this app at all!!

Once I figured out how to access. Trying to follow the directions with the bait and switch new version with monthly fees, when you select information on version seven, you can scroll down to find the option that enables the legacy version. Did not realize there was more choices by scrolling till I saw a video. While I am thankful the did not just block use of what was already paid for, I never buy an app that is not being maintained. This, being the most expensive app I have ever purchased, is now no longer going to be maintained. Most likely when I finally can afford to get a new iPhone, chances are this app is trash and will not work. What a rip off. At least I will get a little use out of this app till then. I rated this app five stars up unrolled they pulled this money grabbing stunt. When you buy an app, you are also investing in weather the developer can be trusted. Think about that before getting a subscription.

Don’t like but understand.. As a business owner I understand that work requires some sort of monetization to keep the lights on. Maybe the real mistake was not to plan on years coming and the one-time price for the app was not the best way to go from the start, especially being so expensive (for an app), but to me it was worth it. However I understand money has to be made and people have to get paid to keep working so I don’t sense any bad intentions, just time catching up. I have bought apps AND devices before, like my Apple Watch 3 which no longer updates but gives me all the features I originally paid for, so I feel like what I spent on Filmic years ago has already given me my moneys’ worth and then some. Still unsure how much I will use v7 as I am now more of a casual user but really appreciate the fact they gave us v6 to use freely.

Warning to previous Filmic users about new terms of service. If you previously bought and paid for Filmic and then recorded any footage on your phone or tablet, you may be tempted to open the new updated app and agree to the new terms of service without reading it. Caution in doing so, as Filmic is now forcing a subscription model and the following text comes from their new terms of service: THESE TERMS CONTAIN VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS, AS WELL AS CONDITIONS, LIMITATIONS, DISCLAIMERS OF WARRANTIES, AND EXCLUSIONS THAT MIGHT APPLY TO YOU. THESE TERMS ALSO CONTAIN PROVISIONS REGARDING THE AUTOMATIC RENEWING OF YOUR SUBSCRIPTION. THESE TERMS REQUIRE THE USE OF ARBITRATION TO RESOLVE DISPUTES, RATHER THAN JURY TRIALS OR CLASS ACTIONS. It is obvious they are aware their unassuming customers have legal justification for a class action lawsuit, and they are hoping you click “accept” before you find out what is going on.

Where does the video save in iOS?. When you forced Legacy users to download a new app, all our settings were gone. Where does the video save on iOS? It used to save into my video folder in Photos directly. Also, your app is a perfect example of why consumers are weary of purchasing apps that cost more than a few dollars. There is no need to go to a subscription based model for this app, you don’t provide a service.

Can’t get Shutter Speed to 1/180. I used filmic for many years to be able to pop on a ND filter and adjust my shutter speed to 1/180. This gave it a more professional, not so iPhone look. Ever since being forced to download a new app that is supposedly the one I paid for in the past. I can’t even get shutter speed set at 1/180. It stops at 1/144 and then goes right to 1/192. This a bug or something?

Paid paid. Now you’re charging a subscription hmmm I sure hope it’s better than the last one because it will freeze and crash on me. I just logged on and notice this- if you can convince me then I will but we at least need an explanation since I already paid for it

Prompt and Professional. I panicked. I had a trip to Boston on Filmic Pro v6. I woke up to the upgrade v7. I reached out to Filmic support and they responded to both my emails with detailed instructions and kindness. Am I a subscription type person. No. Yet I respect that this app isn’t my creation and the creators are free to do with it as they please. The rude comments are out of bounds. You can get your footage transferred to Filmic Legacy without a real big hassle. If I itemized my taxes, a subscription would most likely be the way to go. I’m in education so I prefer the “pay once” options.

At the very least. I appreciate that they at least gave us what we originally paid for. I am a casual user and won’t benefit from the continued updates. But I didn’t appreciate how one day I tried to use the app and suddenly it tells me I can’t export. I wasted time filming. It would’ve been better if you develop a new App and then price it new. By piggybacking on previous users, that was kind of a typical corporate dirty move to force market the new product. I’m rating the business practice, and I don’t rate it lower because at least we have Legacy. Otherwise, I would boycott everything. But this gives me pause now about any product I get at the App Store, the fact that developers can use such a dirty tactic.

Not as advertised. This is a scam. I previously paid for Filmic Pro long ago. When I try to access it now, it tells me I can download Filmic Legacy (v6.0). When I do that, Filmic Legacy tells me I have to download Filmic Pro (v7.0), then go to Settings>Info>Download Filmic Legacy. However, the only way to get that far is to commit to at least a one week free trial for the subscription. So, I did that, navigated to Download Filmic Legacy … which I did … and then was told I had to download Filmic Pro (v7.0) … which I already did to download Filmic Legacy that tells me to go back to download Filmic Pro in order to download Filmic Legacy … which I already have on my iPad. So, it is either subscribe to an app that I have previously paid for or get stuck in a loop never being able to download an app that I was told I would still be able to use with no further charges. THIS IS A SCAM!!

SCAM TOOK MY $. Years ago, I purchased this app to film with my phone. Now I have come back to realize they have an entirely new system. They have pretty much offloaded this version of the app and and made it nearly impossible to access even though I did purchase the legacy version years ago it still doesn’t show that I can re-download it now they have a new version that requires a subscription service, horrible business model. I am working on getting a possible refund from my original filmic app years ago.

Terrible company. This app WAS great, until they came out with a subscription version. Now this app that I paid for advertises every time I start it and tries to trick me into “upgrading” when there is no upgrades that make it worth the money monthly. The app I paid for also conveniently closes after I finish recording, before saving to my photos album like it has for the last year plus. So do your self a favor and don’t waste your time or money on anything from this company , they only care about money.

Rant not…. If the switch to a subscription model offends, please take time to recognize that the developer of Filmic Pro has honored its pay for it once, use it forever commitment. Getting this much capability in software for a one-time nominal charge is an outrageous bargain. Quibble about the subscription model pricing, argue that it’s too much, too often for most users. But all the vitriol and screams of ‘rip-off’ are unfounded.

Blatant scam. I have never seen a bigger scam in my life and it saddens me. The original Filmic Pro was a wonderful app. It had all the features I had been looking for. I paid $10 for the pro version a few months ago. Suddenly it switched to a monthly subscription without notice. I can no longer access what I paid for without paying a new monthly subscription. It is 100% a scam at this point and your original payment and support means nothing. How dare they try to scam people who have tried and paid to support them. As far as I am concerned they owe me $10 at the bare minimum. Shame on them.

Someone should do a class-action lawsuit. Like so many others, I paid for FilmicPro only to see it *replaced* by a subscription-based model. This is thievery, violating the product as advertised, then cynically slapping on a “Legacy” tag as if it’s a piece of great analog gear or something. If you want to make more money, make a *different product* then charge that however you want to. Don’t take an existing project, cripple it, and change the rules after purchase. Subscriptions are a joke. Whoever buys into that is a fool.

Highway Robbery/Disappointed. I’m a film student at Full Sail University and I’ve used this app to film a couple short films. Now I just found out that it won’t be supported anymore and they are going subscription based which is ridiculous. I paid too dollar for this app. This move by filmic pro has forced me to just use my Sony FX 6. It’s crazy how companies mess up a good thing for a quick money grab. I’m very disappointed with this decision by filmic pro.

Shameless. Realizing that every company needs to make money - your app was not cheap (as apps go) So you “update” the app I paid for and 𝒚𝒐𝒖 advertised as being a “one-time-purchase.” Now, thanks to your avarice, I can’t use the app unless I buy a subscription. Shameless exploitation. And yes, I already heard, I can download the legacy version - a version that is not designed to be updated, one for which you plan no support. Had I and countless others (check your reviews here and other review forums) known you were planning this, 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒖𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒄𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒖𝒔, 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆. Like on “Beast Cam”, or “Moment”, or “Protake.” Bait and switch… and there’s not “thing one” any of us can do about it. It’s too late to dispute the initial purchase from the App Store. Congratulations on finding the perfect way to steal from your customers… in plain sight… without repercussions. If you were smarter, you would have 𝒓𝒆-released this app with a new name. But then you wouldn’t have had a ready made base of people you could try and double sell to… or your coveted “Editor’s Choice” status. I see you Filmic Inc and your parent company Bending Spoons. Your business practices are reprehensible, I’m disgusted. And you should read some of the Reddit posts of people who also think you are criminals.

No Response *updated. 2/2/23- After years of use I reached out to support to address an audio clipping issue that has been ongoing intermittently. They’ve always responded promptly in the past, and did so this time requesting certain information that I painstakingly gathered and provided. Then, about a month ago now, they just ghosted me. We know where their priorities lie with this ridiculous V7 service roll out. I guess those of us on legacy don’t matter anymore. 4/9/23 update from 1 to 4 stars- Last month FilMic customer service finally followed up with me. Not sure what happened, but the guy was apologetic and more importantly did a deep dive on my issues. That’s all I can ask for. Even offered a year free of the subscription app, but I actually prefer the legacy version.

Leaving the paid customers behind. Instead of requiring a purchase for the new version, they require a subscription. If you purchased before this new model, you get to download this app and restore purchase. I work in IT. This is bad business. If I had a vendor pull this, I would drop them and find a new one. Likewise, I will be finding a new professional level video app.

Cannot login FIXED!. Trying to follow their own instructions you will get stuck in an endless loop where you cant actually ever log in. However, go into the filmic app hit information, then you have to scroll down to the bottom of the list to enter the legacy app. Then it asks for permissions and grants access. Going straight into app will not work. You must go through version 7 once and then subsequently you can go straight into legacy app. Very unclear. They should have explained more clearly.

Intentionally a sleezy move.. Intentionally making it painful to use the app you already paid for is a terrible move. It’s your new subscription app, not mine, so make another app and leave me alone. When I open an app, I expect to see the one I paid for, period. Don’t make it so painful (intentionally I might add) so as to make people subscribe just to end it. Nice move making existing users manually move all their clips and also wiping out all their saved settings. How could you not see these comments coming? Either you knew it and don’t care or you are incompetent.

Nostalgia for a once-good app. I got caught in the field with no Wi-Fi when I found I was locked out of the app I’ve used daily for my work for 3 years. Because it went subscription. This had been a good app. It got me through beginning filmmaking, and it was good for that, but I was already thinking to upgrade to something with more precision (it was hard for it to resist iPad’s light control) and I was always concerned about my workflow relying on an app, knowing apps are not stable or reliable. Thanks for the legacy version, but who knows how long that will last. I’m moving on with a cinematic camera. Thanks for the good years, Filmic.

Another Greedy Developper. I bought Filmic Pro for a one time purchase. When the app was updated to V7 it became subscription only. Former Pro users have to download Legacy and jump through hoops to make it work. That's not customer friendly. In addition to the ever changing ToS - accept or loose access, it best to go the old-fashioned way: Buy a decent camera and film with that. No subscription and no changing ToS. You can even save money by getting a cheeper phone next time.

Paid for this Expensive App was WRONG!. You wouldn’t have been here if we didn’t support you buying this expensive app. Now you tricked us to subscribe the app what we’ve paid for. Really! Even Halide gave us a whole free year when they switched to Subscription model although we aren’t satisfied with. Now you gave us royalty discount of $10 if we subscribe to yearly plan?! I’ve paid this for about $25 including IAP. I don’t want this useless, unmaintained app. Give me the refund. I’ll give you 50% discount. So you just need to refund me $12.5. Doesn’t work. Literally no way to activate V6. It tells me to go to V7 to download, and when I do, it brings me right back to same screen. Way to ruin a dedicated fan base. Greedy scum bought this app and are trying to force people to pay a ridiculous amount for a subscription. They have no incentive to fix V6 and probably never will. Don’t download this, certainly don’t download V7. Pour one out for old Filmic… it was good while it lasted.

Remove the Subscription!. I bought this app years ago and have really enjoyed it, but it’s not worth paying a monthly subscription now! I can’t believe this company is trying to milk more money out of its existing customers. Why not just ask your customers for another $10 to upgrade because you added new features? Don’t waste your money with this company.

Where is the cinematographer kit I paid for. We paid for Filmic Pro, not FilmicLegacy!!! The sneaky roll out of this new version is horrible. I paid for the app as well as the cinematographer kit and now it is not available. You cannot charge someone for a product and functionality and then take it away with no refund. A class action suit is warranted and I hope it happens. I hope there are good lawyers listening. Either give me a refund or put the functionality back in to the app.

Rip off. So I purched “filmic pro”. Not “Filmic pro ver6.” The difference is I purchased to app fair and square for good or bad now they up and Change a number and call it ver 7 what a lot of bull. Just a revenue money grab. I call for toilet paper. Wipe your chin you over inflated app, your ego will bring your demise.

Let’s be clear what’s happening here.. You’re not “lucky” to “still” be able to access the app you paid for. This is an attempt to defuse some of the absolutely justified anger of people who paid for a product only to have it stolen from their devices without their knowledge or consent. The whole Filmic saga is a scam, pure and simple. Buy an app with a significant user base, see how many can be strong-armed into an overpriced subscription, and when people point out they’re being ripped off package up the app they already paid for as a “legacy” version, making out you’re doing them a favour, while running it into the ground to gouge a few more subscriptions. A shoddy, abysmal way to treat people.

Don’t trust this company any more!. I purchase v6 sometime back. Great app. Recently I find I have been upgraded to v7 which is now on a subscription model. Hmm. There is a pathway back to my v6 purchase now called legacy v6. So I download legacy to find that I cannot use it and it directs me back to v7. So now I have two apps on my phone. One I paid for that I cannot use. The other I have not paid for, and will not be paying for that is unusable because of this. When companies who have all the power abuse their power it is known as ‘unconscionable conduct’. Your greed has led you down a path where you treat those who trusted you and supported you without conscious. Filmic Pro - deleted Filmic Legacy - deleted Firstlight - deleted I will find another company who can help us with our video and imaging needs. Buyer beware.

Stick with what you know best.. Myself, like many Filmic Pro users; are disappointed in the subscription model that the app has now become. But luckily at least we still have Filmic Pro Legacy now. I’ll continue to use the Legacy app until it becomes incompatible with newer iPhones hardware, if that day comes. It is truely a sad time for the Filmic community.

Wrong choice. Wrong company attitude!. People who paid good money for this software were never informed that they were buying version 6 only. They were under the impression that they were buying a lifetime license of all future versions and that is why they paid the amount requested instead of buying one of the competing products selling for just a dollar or two. While the company has the right to change the model for future customers, it is wrong and immoral to do that for existing customers. Need help / Urgent. Hi there, I've been using filmic pro app over the past 3 years. I've updated both filmic pro app and and also filmic remote apps which the new one called ( remote legacy) and my filmic pro updated in 7.5.0. Since yesterday my iPad (2022) can't connect to my phone ( iPhone 11 Pro x) and it says can't find the new device which is impossible as I was using it before I updated both apps. In my IPhone I tuned on the remote and it says connect but it doesn't connect to my iPad. It's very urgent and I'm in the middle of shooting my film. Can you please help me and tell me what exactly I need to do. Much appreciated it

Shame on the developers. I went on a trip and busted out my phone to use filmic to capture some nature. Well the app wouldn’t load, why? Because it wanted to do some licensing check or load some bs nag screen when I was in the forest without any data signal. I do not want to upgrade to another version because I paid good money for this app and I want to be able to access it when I want to and not be nagged every time to upgrade.

Why did you do this?. Tbh I’m so disappointed. On top of what everyone else has said I want to add that every time I open the Legacy app (after doing the whole download process through V7: settings->info->download legacy) I am still brought back to the same “DEAR USER” page. I literally can’t get into my old app at all and my videos have gone with it and I have tried everything. Why did V7 take priority over the happiness of users who were comfortable with V6??

Thanks for ruining it.. Did IQ’s drop sharply amongst the developers of this app? If the change to a subscription model for an app brought outright wasn’t shady enough, what’s worse is not announcing it to users prior to upgrading the app. Fun story, I upgraded before heading away overseas and being out in the field with no data I was unable to access the app when it came time to shooting. The result you ask? Missing out on valuable shots! Thanks for nothing.

So mad!. I just got stopped by an update that didn’t say it was forcing me onto weekly subscription. I filmed some stuff, packed up my kit, then went to edit only to find I can’t access any clips until I subscribe to an app I already paid for. Unfair!

Done with subscriptions. Went to shoot some footage today for a client only to realize the purchased app had been replaced with a subscription based one. No option to pay once and upgrade, nope. I am done with subscription models. I refuse to pay salaries to devs for apps I use infrequently so they can sit around drinking luxury coffee while trying to make up things to justify everyone paying monthly. Let me pay for a perpetual upgrade or I walk. I will stick with legacy until I find a new app.

Forced subscriptions?. Highway robbery. Paid for this years ago only to be told today that we must pay a “subscription” to keep using the app. Ridiculous as well as a low blow. Developers lie about honoring legacy paid customers. Developer deactivated the Legacy, stating we as fully paid customer can go through the v7 App (Settings>Info) to download the legacy version and it is no longer there. Bad practice. Misleading marketing and representations. Not happy former customer.

Thieves. Beware.. I’m yet another customer who got screwed coz the company got greedy. Read the reviews before you even consider buying. You could have paid for the Pro version all the bells and whistles in-app purchases but now they want money WEEKLY! They did this by upgrading to another version and killing access to all the loyal customers who had any previous version. Classic ‘Bait and Switch’. Should you really be shopping here? The app is great. But how long until the weekly charge turns into a daily charge? Maybe hourly?

It’s really a scam. Without any permission, you’ve deleted the app, it was before a project and you ruined my credit! I paid around $60, and it seems there is no account!

Subscription model is a drag. So disappointed with the subscription model. Filmmakers often require tools that available offline with no internet connection and need to be fast and stable without login and subscription restrictions. The tool is good but the subscription model has cost me to many lost moments. I cannot count on this as an option which is really a drag because it’s a great app other than the fact that it’s unreliable. So I guess buyer beware when it works it’s good but don’t trust it will work when you need it, have a backup plan.

Disgusting. I bought the Filmic Pro Camera Kit which included FP and the Remote (control with another device like an iPad) and now with the switch to subscriptions don’t have the app I paid for (no I’m not paying more money after paying full price already) and also don’t appear eligible for the FP Legacy app (bc I bought a bundle?!) as no matter what there is no download available to me in the Settings/info tab. So like $30 spent and devs employ the old bait and switch and presto-blammo we consumers are once again screwed over.

Change of terms - we can change our mind. I think if the company basically changes the terms of service we should be able to get a refund. To me that entails a breach of contract! To go from a buy once and use app to a rent it pay and forever app.

I’m genuinely confused. I paid for this app, and now I can’t do anything that I paid for - has anyone read through the original agreement? Is there grounds to seek my money back? Right now I feel like this is illegal for a business to take away what I purchased as a consumer.

Subscriptions have killed all future updates!. The app changed from single payment to own the app to a weekly subscription model costing over $100 per year. You still have access to the legacy version if you purchased but this undermined the faith of the entire Filmic community.

Doesn’t launch. Highly disappointing business practice. A message claims that users who paid for this version before August ‘22 would be able to use it. But there is no way to get that version. I purchased FilmicPro in 2018.

Was a great app.... I paid for access years ago and this app was great for a very long time. Now my access is limited or I can pay $1.99 a week.... stupid... I'm a casual user so this does not make sense for me. The features I used and paid for are now locked up in this $1.99 a week version... I want my initial payment refunded.

No subscriptions. I’m a fan and occasional user of Filmic Pro. I’ll reserve judgement until I see if the “Legacy” version is maintained. Crippled, fundamental paid features removed. This is not a replacement for what we all paid for before you chose a perpetual subscription model. No on screen controls when recording? That was a core advertised feature, even the Apple native camera app can change lenses while recording.

Terrible App. This app used to be the best app for recording video. However, the move to being a subscription service has ruined the app. Not only did they move to a subscription service but the price actually tripled.

I have been robbed. I paid for and used FP for years and now all of a sudden it upgraded to 7 and wants to pic my pocket via subscription and I can’t get my original back. This should be looked into by Apple. It is criminal.

Can’t get Shutter Speed to 1/180. I used filmic for many years to be able to pop on a ND filter and adjust my shutter speed to 1/180. This gave it a more professional, not so iPhone look. Ever since being forced to download a new app that is supposedly the one I paid for in the past. I can’t even get shutter speed set at 1/180. It stops at 1/144 and then goes right to 1/192. This a bug or something?

Crazy dark patterns to get 6. We all remember 6 was pretty expensive as far as iPhone apps goes…. Now there’s a huge sub rabbit hole to even get a hold of it past the paywall of 7… way to screw customers

Love the app, hate the new subscription model. Disgusted with the fact that you guys switched to a subscription model. Im getting so sick of all these apps trying to hop on the bandwagon. I don’t want to have to pay you a recurring fee to use something I’ve been using for years.

Ruined a great app. Filmic pro used to be my main camera app but now they’ve moved to subscription model. Legacy version holds your footage hostage - only allows you to view the clips in the app. If you want to export the clips you have to pay for subscription. Would rate this lower than 1 star if I could. Very disappointing.

Legacy doesn't work. I download the legacy version, tried to open it only to come to a screen that says go to version 7 to download the legacy version. dog chasing its tail. It was a good run while it lasted. Moving on to something else.

Subscription Model TERRIBLE !. I am in agreement with all the other negative 1 star reviews. Show no loyalty… get no loyalty. Good luck with your new model. Why mess with your current base? Stupid move.

Subsctiption model?!?. I had paid for the app and the extras, including Double Take. The functionality may be great but squeezing the users for money is a way to surely lose people. Now I will either stay on v6 or use v7 on a weekly basis if absolutely necessary. Or might look for an alternative app.

Pay app that will never see another update again. Yeah, it’s so good to have paid for an app and paid for upgrades that will never see another feature update ever again. Money well spent *sarcasm*

Bad company/business practice.. Bought Filmic Pro. Loved it. Just as other reviewers say they moved to subscription and offer a legacy app now. So lame. People who bought before should of been grandfathered in or offered a discount, or money back. Moved to BeastCam won’t be looking back.
