Small bug. Great game. One small thing that could easily be patched is when you leave the app in the middle of a game and go back to it , the screen is frozen. The only way to fix this is to close the app and open it again for a new game. Like I said, it’s a great game that is better than most nitrome games. Fixing this one issue would make it even better.

Best Mobile game I’ve ever played. In all the years I’ve downloaded apps from the AppStore, I never once found one worthy of a review. This is the first. This wonderful piece has given hours of fun to pass the time, and I’m still hooked. It has a comfortable difficulty, and the retro 16-bit aesthetic. I love the upgrade system, which makes you work for the advantage, not empty the wallet. It’s easy to learn and pickup with the easy controls, but hard to master with the variety of ways you can maneuver the character. I also love the lack of micro transactions, which as stated before, makes you work for better suits. 5 stars, 10/10, whatever you want to call it, but I would recommend this game to anyone looking for one to pass the time.

Pretty hardcore and decently polished for its simplicity, but…. The homing weapon is extremely buggy, for example, if there is a saw/spike/literally any environmental obstacle in the near vicinity, it will not be able to home in on any enemies at all, presumably because these objects are tagged as enemies themselves. It’s particularly infuriating while playing as seeker in Zone 3, where the weapon is oft rendered useless as the grinder somehow glitches you into the wall, forcing you to take more damage to get out if it. Similarly, reviving using gems or and ad near a wall may glitch you into it.

Great game, but there are flaws. Overall this game is pretty solid. However, I have ran into a few issues. The laser weapon will occasionally just stop hurting enemies, but I'm not sure what conditions are necessary for this to occur. Also, the "Super Sonic" suit's damage multiplier for the spin attack will seemingly just go away randomly and then come back (Iirc it came back once after I revived myself). There's probably a few things I'm missing but, other than the two issues I've mentioned, there doesn't seem to be any major problems.

Some problems. The problems are not that bad but are still there such as homing shots not homing in on enemies and act like a better default gun and some lay outs that you will always get hit unless you’re a god at this game and probably some more but I didn’t find those I would recommend this game since there isn’t a lot of problems in this game

Chameleon. I’ve been a fan of Nitrome many years before it came to mobile and have been a loyal player of its online games. In all my years of playing Nitrome I’ve never had an issue. Except for now. I spent a very good deal of time trying to get the chameleon armor thinking i would be able to use any color (locked or u locked). To my severe disappointment, it only allowed access to already unlocked suits. The catch was, I had none of their abilities. So I basically grounded for three hours just to get a suit that made other suits worse. Please, either make the chameleon able to copy any color, make it so we can manually change and combine color schemes, warn players about the specific abilities, give it different powers, or take it off the list. Other than that, marvelous game.

Great game but ads don’t load. I love this game! It has an awesome theme and a large assortment of weapons and characters. But for some reason every time I finish a level an ad pops up and it gets frozen so I have to leave the game and go back into it which resets my progress so I can only really play level 1. Other than that it’s a great game but you should really look into that problem

One problem. Ok I like this game skill based and fast paced BUT. I have one problem with the last suit in the game the “Pro” suit. Quick review in the game for every certain amount of kills you get a key to unlock an item for that run to help you. The problem is for the pro Suit you have ONE, and I say ONE health, and not only do they deny you access to the additional HP upgrade they still flood the item pool with “Maximum HP” “Restore health with a certain amount of kills” “Increase invulnerability frames after taking damage” and a few others. All of these are completely useless to That suit, and makes no sense to keep in the pool. And like I stated before you deny certain items, such as the “When at one hp +2 weapon damage” I am fully aware it would always be active with the “Pro” suit. BUT THATS A GOOD THING. This game is designed to kill you, spikes are placed sometimes unfairly. Enemies can be hard to deal with at times, and the mechanics with each zone changes. TL;DR- Give the “Pro” suit actually good items please, and not useless trash

Quite tricky but fun. I have played MANY free games that SAY they are like this one. But this is not one of those. This takes its own ideas. Now sure it may have gotten the idea of a spin attack from Sonic The Hedgehog but I mean no idea is based off of nothing. Now to gameplay. Before each level you pick a suit. And each suit has its +’s (pros) and possibly -‘s (cons). [SPOILER ALERT] The first few suits are Default, Medic (more health drops), and Solid (Hard Boots is always activated). Now yes (PWPTG) there are more suits in between but I forgot most of them. Now after suits you spawn in 1-1 (except people who have later suits). You have 2 attacks:Spin and Shoot. The controls (bottom) are <- -> aim and an up arrow. You continue to find a green creature. THIS IS AN ENEMY! Don’t make my mistake thinking that those are friendly. Now if you die (making that mistake probably) then you either Watch An Ad or use gems (currency in game). Both of these will revive you. Now let’s go to Ad Usage. Now if you have bought no ads then you should stop reading. If not let me continue. So I have already mentioned you can WAA but ads will also appear during levels. And that actually is really it. Summary: +⭐️ pixel quality +⭐️ idea +⭐️ controls +⭐️ good fps (frames per sec) +⭐️ art - minor bugs Hope you enjoyed my review

One of the Best of it’s kind. This platform/shooter is one of the most fun i’be ever played. It’s the perfect ballance of hard and fun, making it challenging, but still enjoyable. Im a huge fan of Nitrome’s games, and this adds to my favorites. Great artwork, great bgm, and great game play (that’s what we came to get, right?). Great job Nitrome, you’ve done it again. I would like to note two things: 1. I’m not entirely sure how the “tornado” weapon is to be used efficiently, since it doesn’t really do foreword damage, more just up. 2. The Spin Attack is very hard to utilize at times. In closer quarter battles with more enemies, the spin attack is the go-to way of getting rid of an enemy wave, as well as a healthy combo builder. But not if you get hit on your first jump and can’t get to the second, and it makes those close quarter battles a little frustrating. Now, I understand there’s a few upgrades to fix that, but since the upgrades at the end of the area are random, what are the odds you’ll get that one upgrade? This may just be my play style, but I would love a change or maybe advice on how to win those close quarter battles. Also, this is not necessary by any means, but you could possibly add a story. Why is this knight gunner climbing this tower fortress? Does s/he have something against the mobs? Anyway, it’s not necessary because it’s not really that kind of game (at least I don’t think), but it can certainly be an idea.

Some problems but great!. I love this game and it’s unlock-able suits but I found some problems with some of those suits, the swordsman- when you collect any ammo your game instantly crashes, super sonic- when you get the poison upgrade the characters spin damage goes to normal instead of being how it should. Please work on these bugs because this game is great!

Awesome yet could use some improvements and suggestions. Hi I think this game is amazing because it reminds me of Metroid and other retro run n gun games yet if you guys are able to make a second game that would cool. Yet I had a small complaint that there should be at least a few more zones than just 4. Also if you guys can create a new game mode that includes multiplayer against one giant boss this game would probably get back into the top 10-20 games that are free

Fun and Short Game- not pay to win!!!. I love games that aren’t pay to win. This game is NOT pay to win! It has no loot crates! It has no “energy” to restrict how much you play. It’s just awesomeness. It does have kind of a lot of ads, but I could live with it. The controls are a bit cramped- the buttons should be bigger. Also, the “Shotgun” character is OP as heck. After unlocking him I beat the whole game in one try. I got extremely close to winning with “Medic” as well. All in all, great game! I would recommend it to anyone as it is free.

Softlock special. Game is pretty fun but there needs to be 2 huge fixes! 1: Controller configurations need to be options. Many times I’m in the thick of it and then the app tries to either close or minimize. It was optimized for a phone with a home button so we should be able to move things so as not to close it mid game on accident. 2: During the boss battles in stage 1:3 and 3:3, you can softlock yourself at the top of the screen with no way to get down other than letting the boss kill you. It’s extremely frustrating at 3:3 where that’s deep in the run. Remove the ledge at the top for a more pleasant boss experience.

Great game, along with some ideas.. You know, this was a surprise to me. This game is pretty dang good. Easy controls and mechanics, along with some mix-ups here and there. Floors may get repetitive, but it makes it the easier to remember once played enough. And not many items, but enough to give variety in style of play. It also reminds me of Binding of Isaac, but instead you get to always choose in between three items. And here's something. Maybe there could be a shield item implemented; the shield would work as a way to keep your combo going, allowing you to take one hit without having anything negative. This includes no animation for being hit. And at the top of the tower, an optional floor/boss you can only reach with the rocket boots, which would obviously give more of a challenge. Of course, optional, in case people just want to get it over with. But overall, great game.

Great game, one problem. Overall, this game is absolutely amazing. There’s a lot of suits to choose from, unique stages, etc. however there is only ONE problem I have. If I pause the game to leave the app for a minimum of 5 seconds to change music for example, when I re-enter the game afterwards it is frozen and eventually crashes. Once I made it pretty far and my album I was listening to finished, so I paused the game and switched to iTunes to start up some new music and when I got back the game had to restart. If you guys could fix that problem, this game would be absolutely perfect.

I would LOVE to rate 5/5 but.... its a bit wacky. the frogs specifically are too difficult to kill quickly with the dash attack, and dash kills in general are very inconsistent. also the weapon range compared to the jump/sight range of the enemies just dont seem to be balanced enough; the control scheme is also very inconsistent. i find myself sliding my fingers all over the bottom of the screen just hoping they with work. they usually do, but they mess up enough to warrant a rework or patch IMO. over all, great game, just needs some tweaks to make it perfect

Used to be 5 stars:. The game was one of my favorites to play from the App Store until I updated the game yesterday. I went from having zero problems playing the game to experiencing the game slowing down in the second world to a snail’s pace and even the game crashing on me. I’m assuming this is a missed problem in resource clean up on the coding end for something new that they added in this update as it got a lot worse after multiple play throughs. When an update comes through that fixes this, I’ll update my review back to a 5 Star.

NOT pay to win. Don't listen to these clowns complaining about this game being a pay to win, they're just salty they can't get past level one. I wasn't even aware you could buy gems until I went looking for the IAP's after all the children whining in the reviews. All suits can be bought with currency EARNED through gameplay, and there are even suits that give you x2 gems. The way these people complain you'd think this game was full of loot boxes and pay walls. If you're afraid of a mobile game that takes some skill, steer clear. For the rest of us, this is a fun and challenging little game for people who can manage the simple tasks of both dodging AND shooting (what a tough concept right!?) And remember, git gud.

When is tower fortress 2 coming out. Love it, waiting for tower fortress 2 Also, goo god is easy because 1. If you have something that can shoot up, he’s really easy to kill, 2. The tentacle attack is free damage, make him able to grow back those tentacles and make it so he spits energy balls while using the tentacle attack

Amazing Game with Glaring Issues. The gameplay has been mostly great so far, apart from some unfair ‘random’ situations the game has put me in. The difficulty can be good and times and ridiculous at others, making it hard to actually master the game. The real problem I’ve had is the fact that leaving the app, even for a moment, crashes the game. Accidentally click on an ad? Whoops, there go your gems and progress. This has happened to me too many times for me to continue playing this game. Hope you can fix this quickly Nitrome! Anyway, great game.

Hard, but rewarding. Anyone who doesn’t like the mechanics of this game didn’t play it long enough to appreciate the experience of failing and learning from playing the game. That is the true essence of a good game. You go from dying on the first level from not spin jumping accurately to comboing 5 spin jump kills into a gun kill. It’s a hard game but it’s fair and you’ll feel like you accomplished something when you finally beat the game; unlike most mobile games which are too easy or endless runners. This game is my favorite mobile game so far. Cheers Nitrome, another hit.

Good but clunky. I’m having a blast with the game but my only problem is the “move left arrow” will just glitch out and not work around 40% of the time. It has been a major cause in my deaths because I’ll need to carefully inch my way around some enemies or maybe obstacles. This makes the game incredibly frustrating when your having a good run but you keep getting hit because the game won’t let you move where and when you need to. This is the only glitch I’ve found and the only thing ruining my fun with the game.

Good, but can be annoying. The game itself is very good, but that’s not why I’m writing this review. The game crashes constantly; you turn off your phone and turn it back on? Crash. You accidentally clicked the ad that popped up? Crash. You beat a boss? Crash. This Can be very frustrating when you’re trying to farm gems since a crash doesn’t seem to give you the gems you gathered.

Plain unfair. Did nitrome even play test this game? Seriously though, sometimes that are situation which you have to lose health if you want to progress which is just not good same design. And the way the spin jump functions, terrible. If you hit an enemy from under it should not just spike you back down onto either spikes or another enemy, or very rarely just normal ground, it should give you a small boost upwards. There are also random difficulty spikes, you can be playing the first level then all the sudden a million enemies along with 3 saws and a chest in the middle of all of that. And last of all the controls. The movement buttons are just way too small to consistently and fluently move around. And the overall button layout makes my thumbs want to die. Nitrome make a better game please.

Good!. I wouldn’t change much about this game, other than maybe a few changes to some characters and maybe a new one. I know this game stopped updating a year ago, but maybe you could slow down the fire rate of Laser, but make the duration of each shot longer. If it becomes to overpowered, then you can remove it. Also, adding a character with a slowed version of the game would be nice, maybe with this character the game could affect all of the enemies, bullets, mc, etc in the game. Anyways, no pressure, but these are just some ideas for the game.

Could have been one-handed. This game was so close to being a one-handed version of Downwell. Even simpler controls that can be played with one hand, lots of color, various outfits… but instead it’s just Downwell but upwards with inferior gameplay and a fresh coat of paint. I know it’s been 5 years, but if the only thing they do is update this game with a one-handed option, this game will have vindicated itself completely.

Great game but a few minor bugs. I personally love this game and it’s difficulty but some things that irritate me are bugs, for example: the bar that appears after a run to show how close you are to afford the next suit stopped working for me and it makes a continuous noise (what you hear when the bar fills) when it shouldn’t. Or when on the suit selection screen and you view the other suits in the background it makes the last five suits look like the first five suits. These are minor problems but it would be great if they were fixed. (And please add a suit with the Tornado gun as default)

Decent First Impressions. *IF YOU HAVE PLAYED PAST THE SECOND WORLD, PLEASE TAKE THIS REVIEW WITH A GRAIN OF SALT* Despite my struggle, this game definitely has something intoxicating about it's gameplay. Perhaps it's the satisfying sounds of your weapons and crushed enemies, further motivating you to keep the combo going. The music, though forgettable, does a good job at setting the tone for the adventure ahead. Moving on, the gameplay is where most of my issues lie. For one, I think the level generation needs to be a bit more forgiving, as occasionally I'd come across situations where it's impossible to progress without taking damage (EX: a spider over an L shaped tunnel without the Tri-Shot). Also, the button layout is kind of cramped and awkward. I'll let this one slide, as this was probably better designed for larger screens unlike my tiny 5S model. To delve into speculation further, one thing I've never been able to figure out is what the little helmet bar is for. Every time I die, I see this bar filling up and giving me helmets. Why? What does this do? Gripes aside, I see a lot of potential for this game, and I hope to see more support in the future! P.S. For everyone saying this a Metroid rip-off, I don't know what you're smoking. Aside from a vague resemblance from the suit and the icon, this game is nothing like Metroid. If anything, I would say it's more heavily inspired by Downwell, they both have a lot of similarities in their progression and systems.

Very fun, hope to see new updates eventually. I really like to play tower fortress and think that it’s a very good way to pass time if your waiting for something or have no Wi-Fi on your phone, as well it’s nice to also have a version on pc if you want to play it when your at home, I really hope the game can get a new dlc update that adds more content (maybe a new tower or randomized floor levels, where it can sometimes be the library and other times it could be a armory where the enemy’s use guns instead) even if it isn’t updated I still enjoy the game and will be playing it

For rougelike lovers. I looked up Metroid just to see what the App Store had to offer for Metroid and This was the first result. To clarify I love rougelikes like enter the gungeon and nuclear throne (which you should try both of you haven’t) I read it’s little description and saw it was a rougelike so I gave it a try and it is a short but hard game. I will complain that the controls are hard but you will get used to it. As of writing this review I just beat it lot of suits to mix up gameplay I recommend recoil because the laser as a default is really solid. Bosses are challenging and creative you will get an add every level but it’s only like one second and you can skip it nothing to bad overall a good game that you should definitely try remember this is a rougelike and if you die you restart your progression on levels

One thing I hate. Level design that is made to damage you one were me having played the game a lot and played every level always take damage. It’s in level one two and a little in 3 3 gets a excuse it’s very hard and challenging but if you play good won’t kill you. One won’t kill you unless you get unlucky but 2 I have played and gotten hit by 4 wizards you cannot bounce to and have to take damage to kill. I will not lie I died. When I respond I immediately died by 4 wizards stacked on top in the cubes from level one. Not 5 seconds after I died I got killed before I could even get bast the bat to kill them. I had the laser and had been dealing with the stupid wizards over and over but that took the line they are bosses not strong ones but like the floating skulls they take a lot to kill and will kill you fast. But when played right they give no trouble. But when I can’t hit them at all with bounce or shooting without taking damage it is stupid and it’s the only thing wrong with the game. Get rid of all the cheap placement triple spider wall, stairs of wizard, box of wizard and I would play this game non stop I do play this game nonstop so I notice what needs changed.

Fun, No up shot,. This game is extremely fun and exciting, I love all the armors with unique abilities and weapon mods, I only have one small problem, no up shot. If they install this it could be so much better killing homing flies and spiders and bosses. Instead you have to run into a corner and wait for them to come at you, add this and the game could be so much more fun. Oh and one more thing I got the Chameleon excited to use its unique color ability but I press the play button and the option to change colors disappears and no matter what I click on the screen it won't let me change its color

Awesome when you learn it. I like this game I would love it if the developer could get it on Play station, Nintendo And Xbox it took me a while to figure out how to play the game but once I did I found it very fun and challenging reminds me of super Metroid a little bit if the developer could get this on PlayStation or any of the other formats I would definitely buy it this could be a very Fun retro style game the only fault that I see is that you have to use the touch screen on your phone

Almost there. If only bosses could give a key, didn’t end your combo, and the game wasn’t such a grind. Not to mention how short it is, relying on it’s difficulty for content. Ghosts come outta nowhere in like, point blank range and damage you instantly. Some buzzsaws and spike are undodgable, the falling drill guys in area 3 can’t be combatted with most weapons or the spin, The witches in area 2 should lose their projectile upon death, and their spawn rates should be limited, even with shotgun. There should be a feature to go back down as well.

Could use the down-well treatment. Overall this is a really good game I could sink a lot of time in, however like I thought with down-well the clunky phone controls hold it back. Personally I would love a console or pc port, what wouldn’t I give to play this with an actual controller. As Nitrome has recently delved into console gaming with bomb chicken I might get my wish (probably not though). I have gotten down-well on pc and the ability to use an actual controller saved my enjoyment of the game. I feel the same would happen with this. Otherwise, I don’t see myself playing a lot of this as having it on a smaller screen with phone gamepad controllers (whatever they are called) doesn’t let me enjoy it that to the extent I want to. There are probably quite a bit of reasons why it isn’t ported and I do see the controls were made to accommodate for phones so there’s that I guess and I won’t put up a fight if it isn’t ported. Otherwise the game is excellent with its progression and power ups, its the controls that ruin it for me.

Interesting. If anyone as ever played Downwell it's an extremely similar game but you play upwards instead of downwards. Really fun and I say more enjoyable than downwell as going down is possible in most cases while in downwell it's extremely hard to go upwards. Some ideas: There are plenty of suits to use yet I feel as if the in game currency is useless as that is the only thing one may buy. Maybe some permanent upgrades (or gadgets that may be equipped to a suit) that may be bought, unlocked, or found. Permeant upgrades may include +1 health and so on with a max of +5 health +1 gun damage with a max of +3 +5% gem drop rate with a max of +20% (some balancing in this idea will be required) Gadget ideas Grenades: adds another attack slot that when pressed throws a grenade with a cool down of course Shield: protects against a hit with a 30 second cool down (gets hit and shield protects but is then open to being hit for the next 30 seconds) Fireball: instead of just being a spiked circle upon second jump it turns into fire and shoots fireballs periodically The gadget may have parts required to build them and those parts may be found in chest This game is extremely fun and simple, I enjoy it and recommend you download it

Overall good but.... So the game itself is awesome! While yes the enemies and level formations can get annoying at times, the game is fun. However I have a few things I would like to say and would appreciate it if you responded. 1. What does the bar that gives you helmets do? 2. Could you make it to where the helmets are like pieces of the armor and if you get enough of them you can get the armor for free. If you don’t get a helmet you want you can scrap it for gems( amount varies depending on helmet) or turn it into a different helmet for gems(again, cost varies depending on helm)3. Could you make skins a little less expensive 4. Could you make skins less expensive 5. Could you make more modes like time rush or gem mine 6. If anyone thinks this is a copy of Metroid, tell them I think their on drugs, While the suit is similar this seems like it was inspired by down well. This is not a cheap rip off! Plz respond plz! Also I just realized years later I misspelled good.

New characters?. There is a bug. Sometimes when you are playing it will lag, fix that. So I have an idea for new characters. One is Mach 1 (machine gun) and Mach 2 (double machine gun). Mach 1’s down side is slippery grip. Mach 2’s downside is high recoil. Make another character named Rappel (start with grapple hook) another character could be named Piercer (start with piercing bullets) so thanks for reading this, I would enjoy it if you did. It would make the game more fun. Can you also make so that you can shoot upwards? Thanks!

Good game, but needs content and has a minor issue. I believe the game is pretty good. I believe there should be more to it. I know that is asking a bit but I believe it will greatly help the game. There is an issue though which can get annoying but I can deal with it. When exiting the app, for instance responding to a text, once you go back into the game the game freezes and crashes. I hope this issue gets fixed soon.

Clunky. This game has an amazing style, and is fun to an extent. Certain sections of the randomly generated levels feel way too tight. I don’t know if it’s just your character’s hitbox, but the levels are too small for his size. And you have basically no room with the first boss fight alone. It wouldn’t be as difficult if there was more space to interact and avoid his attacks, but the space is just so limited. It’s claustrophobic, really. And it gets annoying really fast when there’s no space to make a jump or wall jump without taking damage. The level designs are blocky and feel more like a hinderance that takes away from this games potential.

It’s honestly pretty darn great.. I agree with Oppoopol’s review, the controls feel a little cramped and a horizontal view would be amazing. The game is built upon a game concept similar to Downwell, a game I absolutely loved because of its retro look with all the crazy power guns and upgrades and 5 different characters you can play as, but that’s where it died. The boss being extremely difficult at the end was also a bummer considering is was extremely difficult just to reach it. However, here is this game that is free-to-play and takes the same rouge-like gameplay and enemies from Downwell and adds in more crazy characters with each their unique abilities for different play styles, a colored retro style that this company is known for, and a fresh new experience all around. It’s fun, it’s challenging, and will definitely stay on my phone until I finish it. Suggestions: -Ads are placed weirdly after each level and kinda breaks the flow of gameplay. Possibly place them after every other level? Or when we go to change our character? Or every time we die? -More characters with even more unique abilities would be a nice touch.

So close.... I ran into this game expecting it to be a game where you ascend vertically with only weapons as methods of attack. I expected the game to revolve around this mechanic to make an amazing, fast paced level game but was very disappointed to find that the mechanic that the game revolves around was the sonic like jump attack. Since the game revolves around this attack, enemies are really poorly designed, often putting enemies really close to the player which creates a very frustrating combat system where you’re angrily trying to jump attack your way out of the situation since your main weapon cannot attack enemies that are right on you. The extremely small health pool also makes the player feel very little progression since you cannot get very far because, no matter what your skill level, enemies will hurt you once or twice every level. One would argue that suits fix this problem, since you can buy suits that increase your health pool, however, the amount of health that these suits give you are very little and hard to predict because apparently: [+5] health = 2 health bars? TL;DR this game CAN be good but isn’t

A true game gem. I have seen a lot of negative reviews about the controls, or even how hard the enemies are- but after just a bit of playing, I can tell you that those reviews are wrong! Sure the controls are a bit small, but I don’t feel like they hinder anything! And the enemies are just right for the type of level layout! You can even make it through an entire level without getting hurt! (I know because I did earlier today! Lol) The progression of the game is genius- I love how you have to defeat enemies on the level to obtain a power up, and how you can’t go back down from points on the level. Even though you can purchase gems or ad free options, there are relatively few ads, and gems are readily available through playing the game! I love ftp games, so I really appreciate the devs keeping this free of necessary purchases! If you are still reading, here is my final thought- Get the game, and have fun ;) Note to devs: thank y’all so much for keeping this fun AND free to play! It holds a valued spot in my App Library! :)

PLS REED. Dem English skills do. Anyway, Ie really love this game. It has a good variety of Enid’s and poweups. And I️ feel it could be improved by doing one simple thing: changing the control scheme. At the moment, it is extremely cramped, especially for someone with big thumbs. It may just be that I’m playing on an older generation iPhone with a smaller screen, but if the target group is those with iPhones 6 and up, I️ feel nitrome really loses an audience and base with this decision. My idea would be to Change the orientation of the iPhone when playing from vertical to horizontal. Congratulations to anyone who made it this far, and thanks for your time.

Great game with classic difficulty. First off this game is very fun and free and after the update with the new suits and perks wow. But to those who complain it’s to hard I’m sorry that not all games can hold your hand and make you always win. The hard difficulty is right on par to keep you replaying so that you don’t just pick it up and complete it first try. Thank you for making a fun highly addictive game and I look forward to the next update!

Amazing game. I love this game so much: the art, the difficulty, the Metroid sort of feel with the character, the key system at the end of each dungeon! The only things I think they could do is more suits, a horizontal mode, and fixing the controls, they are a little to close but I’m playing in on a 5s so... ya. But in a nutshell, amazing game and I can’t wait to get past the second boss!

Challenging and Fun. This game can be pretty tough, but I think it is very fun. All the different suits and powerups are fun to use and at the end of every level you can have a chance to select a random boost and those always through a bit of change to each playthrough. My only complaint is that sometimes the left arrow button goes unresponsive until I let go of the jump button (right arrow doesn’t have this problem) and this sometimes gets me killed. But if that were fixed, then I’d give this 5⭐️.

Love the game. There's a couple of problems but since it's a great game so I simply ignore it First is the gate house, there's some parkour section that's still possible, but it's a bit hard, hope you remove a spike or two Second is the game freezing, now this could be because of my devices or because of the game, but since it's only happened once so I can ignore it Finally... The game Is good almost amazing but it’s so hard, since the sonic jump thing only activates after one jump you have to jump and then jump again to activate it which means when your in a small space filled with enemies this is where this mechanic fails, I suggest either making it so the sonic jump activates in one jump or make it so we can shoot in all directions, either way it’s fun to play.

Fun but not with every hero. Im hooked on it but a lot of the hero’s seem useless and have abilities that would only really help me out to some extent once, like the shiny hero which has literally no purpose other the to one shot a chest, but then there is the chameleon hero, there is no excuse for this waste of money, it sounds kinda of fun to try it but I know it’s pointless. I don’t think I need to mention some of the others, but you get the point. I feel like some of the hero’s need a buff and yes, please nerf the frogs!

Needs an update. This game is great as a pass timer because of its fantastic replayability; consequently it would be nice to feel some form of progress. A lot of the characters are pretty pointless imo but that doesnt really feel like a big issue. I just think that after upgrading characters could be viable; also i could be wrong, but after completing a level you fill a bar that does literally nothing, i check and check thinking it will one day give me the free character it shows, but it never does, fix or remove.

Infuriating and down right unfair. The places you go in are extremely tight and you have to go up whilst avoiding frogs, bats, flies, saws, spikes, spiders. And after you die you have to restart to stage 1 no matter what stage your on. Only play if you have a lot of time to spare and master all the weapons, jumps and character attributes

Amazing Game :). I really enjoy playing Tower Fortress, I find it really replayable and a lot of fun to unlock all the suits. Also, I beat the game the other day with only a few revives! I find it amazing that I will still come back to this game after beating it. I find the gameplay addicting and it runs really well for me. Getting this kind of quality for free is a bargain! I am wondering what the bar that fills up when you die does though, I haven’t been able to find out what it’s purpose is yet.

Ads sadly. The game is great, it is awesome and I love playing it. But I wish that having an ad EVERYTIME I finish a level ( everytime I enter the portal ) wasn't a thing. Even more anoying, when I get to stage 3 ( the sort of mechanical stage ) and I have ( obviously) an ad, I can take damage and die from a monster ( I dunno his name but he is round ). Please fix this because I had a few good runs that were ruined simply because I got a 20 second unskippable ad and I was taking damage over and overand ended up dying. Make so these things can't move or remove ads on stage 3.

Awesome game. I LOVE the way how you made this game but there is a tiny thing that I don’t like about it and that’s the shotgun skin. Instead of it being the same amount of enemies please add like I don’t know maybe 20 more? Because I like challenges when it comes to shotgun. Overall, I really love the game. I rate it a 10/10. I love this game, the only thing I would change would be to have a checkpoint every time you finish a level or two you would be able to start from that place with full health every time. Other than that, it is an absolutely wonderful game and I would totally recommend to all of my friends!

Simple and satisfying. The only draw back I can see is the lack of button customization. I often die or receive damage because I miss the button. Need larger buttons or option to customize button sizes. Otherwise really enjoy the levels, bosses and content. Good work.

Make it playable with a controller. I love this game don’t get me wrong but the controls are hard and I think making it so that you could play with a controller it would be a lot better

Love the Game. This game is great fun to just pick up when you have some free time. I at first used mostly either 720 or cash, but now I use the cryojester most of the times. Personally, the main thing I would suggest is to add like, one or maybe two extra frames after you land from a spin, where the hit-box is still up and you’re still invulnerable from contact damage. Taking damage at the same time as I land is the number one source of “unfair” damage for me personally, almost all other times, the damage feels justified.

Glitch. Theres a glitch where on the second boss you can get stuck in the walls when they spawn.

It bugs!!!. To be honest, this is one of my favourite games BUT it crashes A LOT on my Ipad. It’s been already 3 times that I pay like 400 gems on level 3.1 and 3.1 and the knight just shines ( like when you film a light in slo-mo ). Also it crashes. Yup.... What's the point of spending thousands of crystals on a suit that's just gonna make me die faster by taking away all of my health or giving me some kind of negative debuff? I would understand if the ability you gain is REALLY good, but, for example, gaining a higher chance for enemies to drop health kits so I can refill my extremely reduced health?! What a load...

Tough, but damn fair. The game provides an insane amount of upgrades and special weapons that make the player character an unstoppable BEAST in the later worlds HOWEVER This game DOES NOT simply hand feed these commodities to you. With a health pool of just 4 HP and a plethora of enemies that can absolutely wreck your s$@t if you’re not careful, this game demands timing, precision and prediction (to some extent) in order to progress smoothly But! When you DO have all the default mechanics down and you know how each enemy behaves, you can shred through ANYTHING the game throws at you The handheld console-like controls feel amazing in the hands, and the lack of ads (relative to other free-to-play games) makes this game an absolute blast for those who seek a challenge Goddamnit nitrome, you did it again

Great game, but kind of a ripoff.. I'll start off by saying that I love the game, it's very good for a free game, and anyone who loves challenge should try it. But an issue I have is that a lot of the concepts are taken from another roguelite named Downwell. For example, both have frogs as enemies which behave the exact same way, both give you a choice of 3 items which give you passive abilities after each area, both include combo systems and both have very vertical gameplay.

Do yourself a favour. And get this game, it’s free, it’s amazing, there’s bosses, tons of guns and levels, the difficulty ramps up quickly. You can get upgrades (my 2 favourite are the low-gravity and the triple jump) but not all upgrades are created equal ;). And if you download this game, beware of the little frog cyclops, the might look cute and defenceless, but they are little sneaky ninja and they are the most unpredictable enemies at the start of the game. I just won’t tell you how many times they’ve been the dead of me... because that would be humiliating.

F*Ck the SAWZ. The sawz or so unfair there is no way to dodge them

Levelling System. This is a fun game, but whenever you "level up" and little helmet pops up and goes into your menu, nothing happens. I'm not sure if you're supposed to unlock that suit or decrease the price, but nothin happens.

Pop-up ads after every level. When the ad takes longer to get through than each stage, my time spent in game is more being forced to watch an ad then actual game play. I don’t know what happened recently, but this game used to be essentially ad-less with the option to watch an ad to continue a run after losing. My question is why? This is an old game that hasn’t seen updates in years on this platform.

Beat the game!. Was very addictive and I kept getting better the more I played. Was a good feeling when I finally reached the end. By the way, might take awhile but the shotgun, more enemy upgrade helped a lot

Really great hard game. Love the grind for characters and how this game is free to play. Some people complain about certain dungeon layouts but once you get the shotgun character the game opens up.

This is really good. Really.. I found this game by accident. Happy accident. It has good controls (as good as possible in mobile) and lots of style. I haven't played too much to know if the monetization is exploitive or not, but knowing Nitrome, I'm sure it's not.

Great game. Excessive ads.. This game is a blast, but too many ads. Having an ad at the end of every level when a level takes around a minute to complete make it too tough to get into the game. One per every 3 levels or once per death and an option to get an extra life/continue for watching an add would be a huge improvement. As stands, Sadly, I’ve deleted Tower Fortress.

Awesome, but a little unfair. First of all this game is awesome. One of the things I don't like is that you have to start from the beginning when yee die (I say yee instead of you). Otherwise this game is awesome and I like it.

High score and freeze. Ever went around to fight two bosses without dying? Well if your freezing right before second boss only to see all points received don’t count welcome to the club! iPhone Xmax don’t have problems like this with other apps. This happened 3x and I’m giving up on it. Great game but a bug like this makes it weigh heavy on disappointment.

Tip. Grind your way to the Homing Missile Suit. Until then...suffer. For the tower will be a painful place to exist in, and you might never reach the end...and even if you do, the level design will guarantee your dissatisfaction. Yeah, almost any and every other suit will NOT get you to the end. Another game that approaches fun, but never reaches it in the end.

Great game however..... The game is entertaining but it keeps crashing at the end of levels so I lose all my progress. Maybe adding an auto save option would fix this issue for me. That way I could quit then dive back in later.

Just put it on landscape. Really good premise for the game but having it in portrait really holds it back. Please just make it to where it’s in landscape mode for better accessibility.

Awesome game!. This game is so much fun and exactly what I've always wanted from a mobile game! It's like Kid Icarus/Metroid and I love it! My only problem is that the game starts to lag a big after ads, but it seems to fix itself after a couple seconds. Overall great game worth downloading.

This game is kind of hard(for a loser) but I am not a loser I may have taken the time out of my day of suckin and truckin to write a review about a game but that doesn’t deem me a loser. Great Game. Ok, first off, I just tried this because I liked Redungeon, but it is very fun in its own way. One thing I don’t understand is what that bar is that fills up after you die. Am I missing something?

It’s amazing but one thing. This game is really fun and I truly liked it, but there was one thing about the game that really ticks me off. It is just that the space that you move around in is very cramped and for me when you are in section three the vault there is tons of enemies and they all are next to you and you can not defend your self.

You could make a better game out of this. You could make something akin to Mega-Man if you put a bit more effort into it. All you gotta do is make it play in landscape, zoom it out a bit, and creating stages by hand and it would be amazing (i’d even buy it if it were long enough.) All in all, cool game idea on it’s own but with controls like that, playing in portrait is annoying.

Very disappointed. I’ve played just about every Nitrome game, and I’m always impressed by their creativity. They usually make really great games, and this one is no exception. The only problem is that it’s currently very unreliable. I can rarely get the app started. And when I do get it started, it closes unexpectedly. I’m sure that when the developers fix this, the game will be worth four or five stars. Just not yet.

Good Game, Bad Placement of Sprites. The overall game is interesting and fun, until you get to nearly unavoidable mobs of flies or frogs or saws, and that’s just the first zone. So I’d say take the difficulty down a notch, I want to feel like I’m actually getting somewhere with this game rather than just being stuck in the first zone.

Bug. This game is so good but aside from the controls being hard to master on a phone because the arrows are so close and the really annoying bug where it will make you leave the game, ima have to give it a 3 star but if you fix the bug where the game exists out every time you win a game that would be great

Stopped playing because of ads.. I only played for 5 minutes. The controls were cramped, but I assume I could get used to them. I didn't give it a chance because I kept getting interrupted. An ad if you die, an ad when you win, and an ad if the game gets paused is too many interruptions. It feels like getting punished for everything I do.

Great game. It’s a good game to play especially when you’re on the train heading to work. Oddly it was super quick though. Beat it in like 15-20mins. Boss battle took like 3 seconds to kill since tornado was super op. Can’t wait till they add more levels, and a incentive to beat the boss like 500 gems

Tight mechanics, unfair level design.. Tower Fortress can be insanely fun and addictive. The shooting feels great, and the jumping spinning attack makes perfect sense, but the level design ranges from reasonably challenging to painstakingly difficult, requiring the player to jump through hazards and a swarm of enemies with pinpoint accuracy. In between its frustrating moments, it’s quite fun, but difficulty spikes can spoil the game.

Bugs. I love this game, but recently I was in a boss fight when an ad popped up when I died to revive me. So I watch it as usual, and it keeps happening. It will freeze in the middle of the ad, and nothing will happen. Most of my progress gone. Hopefully this will be fixed in the future.

Great, but.... This game is an extremely good randomly generated tower ascending game. But, the conversion rates are awful! If I spend 3 dollars on any other app, I would get something that greatly boosts my efforts. But 3 dollars in this? 800 gems. Which by the way, isn't even enough to unlock 75% of armor in the game.

Fun but finicky. I love this game. It’s hard, entertaining, and looks great. However, It’s plagued by control issues. Jumping and moving at the same time does not always function, occasionally a jump is interpreted as a shoot, etc. it’s a shame such a fun game has such basic issues.

Ok, but should've had more content.. I enjoyed this game, I really did, but the operative word is enjoyED here. I beat the game in the span of two days. I saw all the power ups within the first hour or so. I got the strongest character (shotgun) after a day or so. There should be more content. More power ups, and maybe more modes. The gameplay is great-really fun, had me hooked, but it needs...more.

Good game, but one question. This is a great game. I waste countless hours on this masterpiece. I just have one question. I spent a long time grinding for the chameleon suit, just for it to not work. It’s supposed to let you pick it’s color, but it doesn’t. I spent 2500 gems on that.

Work of art. Every run run is different and every run is very fun. I haven’t gotten bored while playing this game. It would be cool if there were another stage/world or an endless mode but still very fun no complaints.

Great game. This game is a really fun dungeon plat-former and really easy to master. With different classes that all have their own bonuses and de-buffs. Also adding controller support would make it even more fun and a setting to go sideways instead of up, and maybe even down.

Great game, please expand. I really enjoy this game. It’s very fun and always changing as every game is different than the last. Based on this repetitive nature, I really wish there was some form of story here. Or events could be cool. Or maybe just expanding the story by adding in some dialogue or brief cut scenes. Amazing. This game is very good but one suggestion, when you double jump it turns you into a saw but, sometimes I don’t have time to jump so it would be really amazing if it also had something where if you held the jump button it would right away turn you into a saw.

Nathan. I like the game but hate the controls and i hate how your life goes down easily like come on it makes no sense. I can’t advance to the next levels cause I die easily. This is a huge disappointment and I think your life should go only half and not just be token away with one hit.

Good but... Its a great game but it crashes if you close the app for a second it’s especially frustrating when you accidentally tap on an ad that redirects you out of the app which then crashes the game.

Problem with the left button. This game is wonderful, and I have played it for a long time now, but there is something off with the controls. Many of the times (too many, in fact) the left movement button would glitch and not allow my character to move to the left. It gets really annoying when this glitch occurs because it would always end up giving me a game over.

😕. This game is FUN. VERY FUN. I loved playing it, and I was grinding to get the infinite ammo suit. I had the Cash Suit and about 5k Credits. I log into the game one day and I have no money and only the standard suit. If this was fixed, the game would be the best one on my phone. P.S. Nitrome is there a way to fix this and get my coins back?

Really fun game!. Tower Fortress came out earlier than expected, but other than that, this game is really fun since its pretty much Downwell-inspired! it also has a Metroid feel to this game as well! Nitrome and Keybol did an amazing job developing this game! 👍

An infuriating & frustrating game.. The main character dies easily even though they’re wearing a suit of armor. The upgrades are expensive or not worth it. Having a shiny suit or pick your own color as an upgrade was a terrible idea. I beat the first boss once after multiple tries but died immediately on the next stage. Please don’t make players start all over from the beginning or at least add more health and replenish some of it after beating a boss as a reward!
