Great Port! Includes original PS1 music!. Amazing port. The menu is even a bit smoother than the original and yes, it does include the Original PS1 score from Uemateu, not the MIDI score from the PC port. The controls are fine, just make sure you’re in analog mode so you have a full 360 degree axis of rotation. There also is a ‘Walk’ button but it must be held down in order for it to work, so I assume the Junon parade will be a bit difficult. Only downside is the bottom half inch or so of the screen has the ‘Encounters On/Off’ and ‘Analog/Digital’ quick buttons on it the ENTIRE game (besides cutscenes). I’d much prefer to have these under the ‘Config’ section of the in-game menu, as I doubt people will constantly wanting to be changing these options. Other than that, this feels great and brings back many memories and I plan on doing another 100% run while I patiently wait for the fabled Remake.

Rafdog50 is Wrong. First off, there was no auto saving mechanic in the original. Doubt he actually played the ps1 version. Auto saving in fact would make it too easy. It’s apart of the game to save where you are able to get to. Pretty much every final fantasy game. Game is great. Story is very well written with points very well connected. Gameplay is great. Of course playing on mobile port, you have little annoyances such as the layout and small bugs here and there. Otherwise, this game is perfect in every way.

YESSS!!!!!!!. Final Fantasy VII has always been my favorite Final Fantasy game and I was really surprised to see that it was available as an app.. and for the WHOLE GAME!!! I was hesitant at first at downloading it because 1) I knew it was going to take up my spare time b/c I'll be playing it all the time, 2) I won't be able to use a full controller, 3) People were complaing about autosaving, and 4) People said that it would freeze in some parts. After playing the game, it seems that they fixed all these problems! The game autosaves on most parts of the game for you, the on screen controls adjust to how you want them to be set up (what do you expect for a full game condensed to an iPhone app), and plus, you'll get used to the controller. The game also has not freezed on me on any parts! The nostalgia! You'll get to experience everything all over again as a kid growing up with this game!!!!!

No auto-save :-(. So I got a phone call while playing, and just after I have defeated Palmer (a boss). I had not finished all the character dialog when I got the phone call in order to reach the next save point. After my hour long phone call from Mom, I returned to my game only to find that I'd been had. My progress was lost all the way back to the previous save point! Now, I have to re-defeat Palmer and go through all of that dialog again. :-( Also, the controls are terrible, especially on smaller iPhones. During battle, push up for right, or is it up for left? Idk, 'cause it's different for every battle, and if you like to play with ATB, you'll get plummeted just trying to select the correct enemy to attack or friend to heal. :-( At least it is still a cool game, but the devs tried to reinvent the wheel, or rather, the PlayStation controls instead of refining the controls for a touch screen iPhone. This affects the game's playability. :-(

Just lazy. I’ve played every Final Fantasy IOS game and this is obviously the worst effort. The game itself is great. And that makes the laziness with which this version was developed that much worse. I wish they’d put the effort into this game that they put into FFIX. Until then, this game in its current form isn’t worth the time. Play any of the other Final Fantasy ports before this one. Edit: I was wrong- about it not being worth the time. The game is spectacular. And again that makes the lack of effort on Square’s Part so much worse. It seems like they knew this game was so popular they didn’t need to polish it for people to buy it. And they’re right, but it’s disrespectful to us and disrespectful to their own masterpiece. This is by far the worst port of arguably the best game.

Please update the music resetting after every encounter!. The game is good, but the music resetting after every encounter or entering and leaving a town is killing me. It also messes up the cgi scenes later in the game, as they play a certain way on the original. This also may be a reach, but change the max stats settings! Or give us an option to only max stats and not give us all the limit breaks also, as an example. I would rate it higher, but these are kind of messing up the flow of the game, especially the music. You can’t even hear the entire songs.

Nice...but needs balancing. I loved this game the first time that played back in the PS1. I still have the disc.😇 This version is okay-to-certain-point. User beware should you choose the max stats option because you will lose the ability to Limit Break normally, but your attacks will be Limit-Break-like in damage. I guess that’s The Law of Equivalent Exchange at work. If possible, could the developers fix this and make it more balanced like 9? And instead of Max Stats, make it Max Level instead? Or better yet, make it max EXP and AP gain with max gil. But overall, I still like the game.

Need quick save to play to completion. One of my all time favorite RPGs. I have played through this game on consoles more times than I can count. I’ve had the iOS version of FFVII since it was released. Because of real world responsibility I typically don’t have long time slots to play and since there is no quick save, that means I can’t truly make progress in the game. Please add a quick save function similar to other mobile FF games so that those like me who don’t have long periods of free time can play this game to completion, nights of the round and all.

Great Port of FF7 on the Go. I just say, making this game accessible on the iPhone must have been no easy task, there are times when the controls feel funky but I've been able to overcome that with repetition after a few tries. For those of you having trouble with the Parade / March for Rufus in Junon I found a trick, switching to d-pad mode and using your middle finger to hold the walk button (b) after you get in line with the soldiers then tapping (a) with your available index finger rapidly will earn you a high tv rating %. Got it on my second try. You have to run down first to get into position but essentially you're just pressing down on the d pad then left. Found this quite simple. ENJOY

Game breaking glitch. I wonder if the people leaving these glowing reviews actually played through the hole game. When you get to the top of the tower after fighting back to back bosses you have to use cloud to start another boss battle, but the game glitches out on a TUTORIAL SCREEN and will not let you progress. I’ve done it step by step I’ve gone online to see if there’s a way around it and nothing. I’ve gone to app support, but doesn’t say anything. This problem has been around since the steam port so obviously they just ported it to mobile without fixing these game breaking bugs. I tried for over 3hrs and fighting the same battle over and over. I’m done I’m just gonna get a refund. If a game is unable to be finished then what’s the point of selling it.

A Perfect Game To Play With A Controller. This is a perfect game to play with a controller between your iPad and iPhone when you are on the go. So much content, wonderful story, plenty of replay value (check a guide out after your first run through to see all the stuff you missed). 100+ hours packed into this gem with all the exploration you can do. The only thing it’s missing is achievements. I can’t deduct a star for that though, as this game doesn’t need it. Make your own achievements up if you need them.

No Keyboard Mapping!?!?. Final Fantasy VII on the iPad! One huge problem: the controls are on the screen, and you can't map them to your keyboard. The on-screen buttons take you out of the game. It's not easy to navigate Cloud by your fingertips alone, clogging up the screen as you go. Would be nice if I could use my keyboard instead for the game's controls. Allow me to be immersed with the game on screen. That, or allow full touch interaction with the game itself to make the controls worthwhile. Tapping attack, or magic, or item, or tapping on a target itself. Rather than tapping the arrow keys and buttons on the screen itself, which lays on top of the combat interface. It's a novelty to have it on my iPad. But it doesn't allow the nostalgia to sink in when you have to tap controls that are fixed on the screen, with only 4 minor configurations to choose from.

Must buy!. I must say that I didn’t have the highest hopes going into this, because this was my first final fantasy, and first jrpg. The only reason I decided to play it was because I had an itunes gift card. After beating this game, this has become my favorite game ever. The graphics in the cinematics look great, but not in gameplay. The battle system is near perfect, and the story is the best I have ever seen. I loved it so much in fact, that I am going to play all the other final fantasy games. A phenomenal game.

Nostalgic...But. As an Avid FFVII Player I Will Start Off By Saying The Actual Gameplay of This is Great, I Have No Issues With Freezes or Lag Hits or Anything as Some of the Previous Reviews Stated (Which Really Kept Me Cautious to Buying This...) However, as the Newer Editions of this Game Come Out (Via PS4/iPhone) They Like to Keep Adding 'Easy Buttons' to the Game. I Personally Think They are Ruining the Game... The Good News is Though, You Don't HAVE to Use Them. If You are a First-Time FF7 Player, I Really Suggest Not Playing This Version to Start Off, the New Age of Gamers Tend to Have a LOT Less Patience with Games, and That Being Said, with the Difficult-to-Use D-Pad and the As-Always Screwed Up Help Box (Not Labeling Ladders and Doors Correctly, Gotta Love Squaresoft xD) It Will Be Very Difficult to Navigate If You Have Zero Idea What You Are Doing. My Only True Dislike About this Rip is the D-Pad, It Seems Very Difficult to Hit the Left Arrow at Times and Gets Pretty Aggravating in a Battle Trying to Click the Correct Spell. Other than that Issue, I Personally Enjoy this Overall.

Good!. So happy to see this on mobile! Couple of improvements. 1. Full screen: I have also noticed that on all the final fantasy series that full screen is not available, could this not be changed across the board? I know that full screen is a more immersive experience than letter boxing. 2. In battle controls: they are a little unresponsive, perhaps make the d-pad bigger? I think this a great port of a wonderful game with a timeless story. Why not make it an excellent port! I look forward to future updates for Final Fantasy 7 as well as the others! Update: Still no fullscreen on any of the final fantasys; i have an XR now and it’s distracting to see the two time and dates because no mind has been paid to the problem in the past. I know that square is working on FFVII remake but is it that hard to fix these simple issues for the phones? Please fix these problems, thanks. Update July 2020: Well, I believed that I asked for a full screed mode and now the resolution has further reduced in size. Square, do you actually read these? Do you care what you customers concerns or praises are of your product? I know that several other final fantasy games have the same resolution problem; is it that hard to fix? Again I ask, do you care?

One of the best games ever, but one problem. Final Fantasy VII is one of the best video games of all time, and there's nothing different about it in this mobile port except for one thing. That says a lot right there! But that begs the question: what is the one problem this game has? Auto saving. This game NEEDS an auto saving mechanic. When you play a good RPG, you play it for HOURS, and this is one of those cases. However, chances are, if you're so in the game and can't stop playing. You'll likely be having an experience so unreal that you'll forget to save in the long run. That being said, if you die and you haven't saved for a while or at all, then you're going to have to start the game all over again. Which will be very frustrating, rage insisting, annoying, and disappointing. And shockingly enough (sarcasm) this happened to not only myself, but to basically every other person who played this port. So please, game developers, add this feature.

Great Port. This is a port of the PC version. Graphics are still what the were on the PS1 but slightly smoother. Controls are just fine for it and work really well. The auto save for when you enter a new area/world map is awesome if your phone dies or you accidentally close the app while its in the background. If you liked PS1 era RPG's, Final Fantasy games, or were a fan of this from before it's a must buy. The auto max level booster is great if you have beaten the game before and just want to experience the story gain. However this does not affect materia so you will still need to level that up. All in all a great port. I gave it 4 stars because as others noted it slows down on the World Map after you move for more than 5 seconds. This is fixed by quickly entering the menu and exiting quick. But you shouldn't have to do that.

Brings me back.. This is my all time favorite game from when I was young. I spent hundreds of hours finding all the gear and breeding just the right Chocobo. I'm extremely pleased with the quality of this game. It seems to me the only people playing it are people who didn't grow up playing it like many of us did. I don't see any problems with the controls or the game crashing when I pop out and pop back into the app. I'm really happy that I paid the money to get this game this brings me back to my childhood and I can't imagine not spending hours on end playing this.

So.. what did you all expect anyway?. Hello everyone! :) I don't see the issues you all are complaining about in this port. What did you expect? A remake of the game for iOS?if you did, then you're really out of touch with technology for having an IPhone or iPad. This is FFVII in all its PS1 glory, which is PERFECT. Yeah we have some issues with moving and camera angles, but you're moving from a controller to everything being done on a touch screen. What did you really expect?? Indicators? Wha? We didn't have those back then why do you need them now? Auto save? We didn't have those in ps1 days, why do we need it now? You save every chance you get, or you strategize when to save. It's a part of the game. This game is 20 years old. I mean it was part of the strategy, look at resident evil, if you run out of ink ribbons you're screwed. So the question is, why did you expect anything different when it says right on there it is a PORT? In the end this IS FFVII in all its glory, with all the bosses and secrets. It is a perfect game. What more do you want?

Perfect as it can be. I do not feel like I wasted a single penny. This was on of my first rpgs outside of Zelda and truly shaped my love for the genre. The game plays exactly like the console they even added a few extras like auto save in world map. I have had no issues with crashing freezing or much lag at all. I have seen a lot of reviews on here complaining about the game not auto saving when you lock your phone. I do not see this as a complaint. If they were to add this is would add a cheat that would allow the player to bypass part of the games challenge which is wrong. I agree it can be frustrating but this is not a casual play game while you gf runs into the store real fast. You need to sit down and treat it like a console game and set real time to play so you can find save points when you can. Overall I have no complaints I love it. I wish this app had 5 stars it deserves it.

Ok but problematic port. I have buried 100s of hours in different versions of this game Over the years. It is pretty faithful to the original but the Max all cheat is actually game breaking if you use it. Of course it makes you OP but it actually prevents you from 100% the game. You are unable to get the special fight in the battle arena that gives you items needed for the weapon fights later. If you value your late game cleanup, DONT USE THE MAX STATS FEATURE. Other than that, the D pad is twitchy but usable once you get used to it. I wish I could give this a better rating but breaking the end game loses an extra star for me.

Great game…..bad set up. I have been a fan of FF7 for as long as I can remember! This game definitely jogs some childhood memories. Gameplay and story are unmatched, my only problem is the controls on the iPhone. Once I get to the scene where Tifa has to break out of the gas chamber I can go any further. The game requires a two (2) button push at the same time but the controls on the iPhone will not allow for a two (2) button press essentially stopping the game dead in the tracks and I cannot proceed after that. If anyone has a way to get passed this I would greatly appreciate it. The game itself get 10 stars. The controls get a zero Please fix this issue

Final Fantasy Fan. I just have to say that I grew up playing the final fantasy games and 7 was one of the ones i just loved to play. You guys did such a great job! I can’t thank you enough for making this game on iOS and for letting me relive those childhood memories! I’m always on the go so this is a great way for me to just relax and enjoy the game when I need to take my mind off the world. I just want to say though I really wish you guys can someday soon be able to bring Final Fantasy VIII onto iOS as well! To be able to have both those games would be a Fantasy come true! Thanks again for all you guys have given! *’~Forever A Fan~’*

Great game but world map music resets after entering towns and battles. It’s a great game as ever, but this version has one annoyance: the world map keeps resetting! In the original PSX version, every time you entered a location or had a battle, the game would store where in the world map theme you were so it would start again from that point when you returned to the world map. The reason this is so important is that the world map theme goes on for 6 minutes before it loops. There is a lot of content there you’ll miss in this version unless you stay put.

It's 5 Stars but.... Don't really expect to find something new or innovative about this port of a port. The reason I'm giving this 5 stars is because I LOVE this game as a whole and the iOS port did nothing to damage that. The controls are smooth, the slightly visual enhancements are noticeable, and it brings with it all of the nostalgia you would expect. The boosters are a nice touch for those who've beaten the game before and would just like a trip down memory lane a few times. DO NOT USE BOOSTERS ON YOUR FIRST PLAY THROUGH!!!! Just experience what the game has to offer if it's your first time.

What is old is now new (again). What an experience played through the whole game just like the original on my PS1 played pretty flawless yes there is no auto save feature however the original also did not have an auto save feature. The controls could be a bit better but overall my whole game experience was great If you miss playing the FF7 everyone loves but don't want to bust out the dusty playstation look no further this will definitely keep you glued to your phone all day!

Great game but…. As mentioned in the title it’s a great game ive played it on almost every platform it’s come out on and loved it every single time however I just here recently played it on the ps4 and it completely ruined it on any other console and not for the reason you’re thinking it was indeed the original not the sorry excuse of a remake it’s the 3x speed option it makes everything so much easier and much less time consuming so I’d really love if y’all could figure out a way to make that happen if not I’ll still play the game of course I just don’t have much time to sit there and grind away on random battles and the like to max out my materias or build up money and experience so it’ll take a much much longer time so yeah I’d love to see a 3x speed option please

Better than you might think. This is a really cool port of literally the entire game. It’s super cool to be able to play it on your phone, and all things considered, it works perfectly. Admittedly, it is rather lazily ported (meaning that little was changed for the mobile version), but that can apply to almost any mobile FF game (Except IX maybe). Overall, it is still a very good game, and I recommend you buy it if you think you can get your money’s worth out of it.

Conflicting Feelings. I grew up with this game, and the sheer awesome factor of having it in my pocket almost makes up for its obvious shortcomings. That said, it could have been done better. The sound could have been upgraded, and the controls, though usable, look awful and really detract from what is on screen. Plenty of RPGs are on iOS with an appear-when-you-touch-the-screen control scheme that doesn’t get in the way of visuals. The buttons also just aren’t designed well. Add that to the screen size problem with two sizable bars on either side, and you’re looking at a very small area of gameplay. Its obvious they just pushed this through as fast as possible, and not for a cheap price. I would think a simple-ish update would fix these problems. There’s already an HD version available, at least the resolution could have been better. Bottom line: beyond excited to have the game, it looks and plays awkward.

My new favorite game. Wow, just wow, amazing game, it took me nearly forever to beat, but it was so worth it! The bosses, characters, places you could go, fantastic, now I finally see why people call this, "the greatest game ever made" and I'll agree! This took the place of my all time favorite game. Overthrowing Ocarina of time and majora's mask (which were tied for first). My favorite game in the series. Considering it's the only one I've beaten. So many plot twists and side quests, it's a lot to put in one game, but it's so fun! To anybody reading this now or in the future, I really recommend this game. 10 out of 10

a gaming milestone, but leaves more to be desired.. by far one of the most memorable final fantasy titles, but this app hasn’t been updated in 4 years. for the price of the title, could we get some upgrades to the UI? either better touchscreen controls or support for bt controllers? anything to make this play less like an emulator and more like a proper port. it hasn’t even been updated to support newer phone sizes not to mention the phone’s time, battery, etc display is still off to the side like I’m playing this in a portrait-locked internet browser. the quality of the game’s content is ofc amazing, but the experience of the app is extremely unpolished. especially for the golden, poster child of all SE and FF.

As good as the ps version. This game is awesome and brings back memories to when I played it on the PlayStation. So many reviews about the controls being frustrating, but it's actually not a big deal at all. I use analog mode and it works fine. I would take caution when going from the game app to other apps, especially if not resuming game play asap, because sometimes it triggers the game to reset to the title screen, but just make sure to save before exiting the app and there's nothing to worry about. The only issue I have is a little glitch where, when in the highwind cabin and talking to the pilot to take off, the screen goes black for some time just to bring me back to the same cabin screen, where I'll have to talk to the pilot again...and then it takes me to the map screen where I can fly around. I wonder if this can be fixed with the next update. Awesome game.

Better than you’d think. This have never crashed on my phone, i can minimize it to do other things including check online for a walkthrough. I thought when i bought this that the controls might be janky but the truth is that they are very smooth. The game even lets you choose between joystick styles. The game allows you to turn off random battles if you like which i enjoy to save time when revisiting lower level areas that really have no impact on my overall play through. Also, the game will let you skip level grinding all together and allow you to max out all your characters and money at once. I don’t recommend that unless you just want to play through for the mini games and storyline. However for some players that’s a valuable time saving feature. This is a fantastic game and my favorite from the series. Well worth having it on your phone. No ads or anything since you’re buying the game outright.

Port is Stupid. This review I’m writing is not about the game itself but the port. This port is the least impressive final fantasy port I have played. I have been impressed with all the other ones. If you put your phone to sleep or turn off your screen for any decent amount t of time the game will just go back to the menu. Usually this wouldn’t t be an an issue but the port doesn’t even have a functioning auto save feature that works. The other ports I have played from the other final fantasy’s on the phone do. In 9 it autosaves from ever room transfer. In 5 it suspend saves every map or foe or town transfer. This game, has an option to turn on that doesn’t even work. This port was not freaking designed with being on a phone in mind. You literally have to devote enough time to get from save point to save point to be able to play this game. I’m not impressed. If you wanna play 7 but you want it on the go, don’t get this one. Break out your old psp and download it off of the PlayStation network and at least you can put the game to sleep and come back to it. Jesus Christ please fix this.

Great port to the iOS. I had this game back in 97 when it first came out on the ps1. It is a very well done clone over to a portable device. For those of you having problems with the auto save, or any other problems, read the info in the game itself. Before you start the game there is a ? Box that you can click on at the main menu. It explains that auto save occurs on the world map and saves when going in and out of battles, towns too, but only on the world map. I would have given this game 5 stars, but the touch controls on the left side of the screen seem off from their locations on the phone.

Non-Playable on 12 Pro. Phone goes to sleep when using a bluetooth controller since the screen is not getting input. Status bar remains on the screen after the game launches and stays, very distracting. Graphics looks worse than my actually PS1 playing FF7. This feels like a quick, poorly done port as a quick cash grab. This is a disservice to the franchise and its fans. Especially for the price your asking for this. I should've read the reviews listed by most recent before purchasing. They keep the good reviews from 5yrs ago on top since Apple cares more about sales than customer satisfaction. With all the new iPhones and iPads that have been released, you would think ports like these would get proper updates. Square and Apple have fallen a long way from their roots. Shame

Awesome Port of the Classic. I honestly don't have any idea why people are getting so fed up about the mobile version of ff7. It's actually one of the best ports I've played. Sure it does cost you quite a sum of money and it needs a lot of space but those are the only problems I don't like, and they're not even that big of a problem. The gameplay is just as it was as on the pc and PlayStation version. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone :). P.S The controls are NOT garbage :D

Great but very hard. The game is amazing! Probably the best game I ever played! But it is INSANELY HARD. I know you can’t fix it, but it is much harder than other final fantasy games. Other than that, the cutscenes are BEAUTIFUL! (For 1997) I’d much rather prefer retro game styles in games today over HD games. As a kid who has a dad who played through the game as a teen and nearly finished it, I know a lot about this game. My dad even got the GOLD CHOCOBO! He’s almost done already! But anyway, I highly recommend this game to you (If you don’t mind curse words) to anyone really 10+. Trust me once you start playing you’re hooked! (Until you get stuck lol)

Flawless. Gamers are a confused people. Some claim that RPGs are terrible and some claim that Call of Duty Ghosts is an amazing game. Some claim that Shooters are the best genre and some claim that Platformers are. Now when I first got Final Fantasy 7 when I was 11 on a PlayStation that I bought I thought "this game is old and stinks big time". Now keep in mind, I was a stupid idiot kid. Looking at the game now... It's one of the best games I have ever played. It takes you on an adventure as Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and Yuffie strive to save the world from the dreaded Shinra Inc. who care about spreading Mako energy to find the promised land. This adventure makes you feel for every character and it really makes you hate those enemies that you encounter. Due to no voice acting, you have to make up the voices in your head which I actually did and it fits the characters perfectly. Cloud - Kirito (SAO) Tifa - Heather (Total Drama) Barret - Coach (Left 4 Dead 2) Sephiroth - Raspy British Yuffie - Little/Snobby Girl I enjoy this game so much and I am currently almost done with the Disc 1 length of the game. 10/10

Very nice port bringing me back. As one of the second Final Fantasy games I’ve played growing up! FFVII has won me over instantly I beat the bombing mission! Of course at a younger age I didn’t understand the story much, but wow I did enjoy the active turn base battle! Later on when FFVII was ported to PC I grabbed it and it was great as they kept the graphics as it was. Played through and understood the story. Now that I got my hands on the mobile port(finally had iPhone with enough room) I can enjoy the game on the go! Of course the controls feel a little weird as it’s all over the screen, but as you play on you tend to forget it’s there. The music is great especially using headphones or AirPods! The ability to iCloud save is a great move as now I can continue from iPhone to iPad! I like the auto save BUT it was never in the game before so I will never use it! Cheats will make the game way too simple, no fun, sure you can get the full story quicker but the combat is worth it combine with the story. All in all though this port gave me the chance to play at work...shhhh don’t tell! 11/10 thanks! TL:DR funny this is the first time I used it! So the port is very good with controls that cover the screen making it quite distracting unless you play for 30+ minutes it’s like it not there. Cheat are not worth it and auto save made it too easy. But to include it was great for new players. I give this game 11/10 nostalgia, great story, replay value, and portable!

First annoying mechanical issue. In Junon, during the marching scene, it is critical that Cloud WALKS in place. Currently, there is no way to turn off 'auto-running', so it is difficult to perform the necessary commands to succeed at the marching mini-game. You constantly run and your score continues to drop until you fail or you have to awkwardly place your fingers on the controls to perform the inputs properly. In other words, it is hard to hold down the B-button to make Cloud walk in place and also input commands to play the marching mini-game. By simply creating a toggle button for run/walk in Config, you can fix this issue or maybe they can come up with some other creative solution.

I assume it’s the best final fantasy game. I loved this game of final fantasy it’s the best even tho I couldn’t get the actual story correct still I beaten the whole game and all weapons defeated I always wanted to play this and then I did it I completed the game :) and maybe some of u should try this it maybe hard at first but get more advantages incase if u don’t know where your going go on Y tube and maybe search FF7 walkthrough :/ so ya try this you’ll love it trust me :)

Hate the controls, no auto save. I am a very big fan of all the RPG remakes such as previous final fantasy games and dragon quest games. But this is the only game that I am growing frustrated with the controls on. Just getting your character to move in a specific direction takes some concentration. Then I'm passing by so many items and materia because I can't freakin see it on the screen. No indicators. If you never played this game (like me) you will be lost. Thankfully I can turn on indicators for doors and such. This game looks like I am looking at the PS1. Hate those graphics. Then there is no freakin autosave or I just can't figure it out. I played the game for about 30 min straight going through cut scenes and all. I get a text message and view the message real quick and reply. I go back to the game and it's at the startup of the app again and all was lost. Final fantasy V to me is a better remake than this game is and I just played that for the first time as well. I hope FF9 is better than this.

More control options, perfect otherwise. This has been a dream come true, to have one of my favorite games of all time on the devices I always have with me. Speaking of those devices, iPad pro with its accessories are another device. I would love to see support for controls on the keyboard. This would be a perfect opportunity to port keyboard controls to the iOS versions. Lots of people use keyboards a lot with their iPads and now more so with the pro. Add support for keyboard navigation as an option and this would be perfect. That goes for all FF games!

Honest Review Honest One Star. This game deserves a one star rating because of its mechanics and boring gameplay and unnecessary trans/cross dressing bashing. The games storyline is garbage as none of the characters have any redeeming qualities. We didn’t need cross dressing nor did we need aeris giggling about it and mocking crossdressing It’s a hobby that some men do for fun. Should we encourage others to giggle? No. Also we didn’t need a brothel scene or aeris and tifa infiltrating it. The game play is slow and you can’t speed it up. Time ending from a battle is slow Walking is slow Everything is just SLOW. It couldn’t have been fixed in the port? Also couldn’t the crummy graphics be fixed? Thank god for God Mode in this game that gives you max stats but they could include materia in this pool. This game doesn’t deserve the hype. Let’s go through the weak personality of each character Cloud is unnecessarily cold and an identity thief as he poses as Zack. Later in the game you discover it was choice not a memory lapse. Aeris is ridiculously impulsive and rude to her teammates. Many times she’s aware tifa is around but makes backhanded comments Tifa is eye candy and obnoxious Barret is foul mouthed and did we really need a black man stereotypes with barret ? Red xiii is another cold hearted dog man

Final Fantasy 7 is amazing. The complaints for this game have all been about controls, which makes sense, and auto save features being non existent. The original game didn't have an auto-save feature. You used the world map and the save spots thrown around the world. If you can't remember to save your game like we all remembered back in the day, that's on you. The game isn't gonna hold your baby hand and save for you. Auto-save features for a final fantasy game of this magnitude would destroy all that made this game amazing. Just save on the map or grind for that save point and quit your whining.

Still a great game, even on mobile!. FF7 is a classic. My favorite of the series but only by a small margin. Holds up so well even on mobile. The controls take some getting used to but after a few minutes you get used to it and forget the buttons are overlayed on the screen. The max stats and encounter toggle are great additions for new players who may not like the difficulty or something or existing players just looking to have some fun. Or for anyone who just wants to take in the story. The only problems I notice are that with the iPhone X/Xs the black bars on the side make it a little uncomfortable to reach the movement controls. Particularly if you are using the Analog stick option. It’s easy to drag your finger off the playable area and lose control. Reaching further into the screen helps of course but can be uncomfortable for some hands. It’s still the classic I know, love, and have beaten several times over.

Max Stats option doesn't max every character?. This is one of my top 5 games of all time, and that's the only reason this gets three stars from me. The app for 6s plus is adequate, but needs a widescreen option and customizable controls. My biggest complaint is when using the max stats feature (at the beginning of the game, I haven't tried using it later on), a few of the playable characters do not get maxed to level 99 or have all their limits as intended. Yuffie, Cait Sith and Vincent in particular come into your party with a random level. It would be nice if this issue were to be addressed, but their levels are still high enough to speed run without any struggle for those who are wondering. This port also does not have the quality the PC port has, which is disappointing. Overall, I don't regret purchasing the app, but it needs work.

Blue Bars ruin experience. I wish developers would include a choice of what color to make the ratio bars. That blue color ruins the experience of playing this on iPhone for me. I would prefer black. Take cues from the switch version. This has been like this since it was initially released. Please fix it! Also, along the same lines, the whole Square-Enix retro lineup has these annoying borders. Give users a CHOICE! Don’t embed it into the game! It’s annoying. If you want to make the game look better, include the option of a CRT filter like most big emulators do. The iPad version of this is perfect! I would highly encourage gamers to play this on iPad instead of iPhone.

A rebuke of poor reviews. I got this because FF VII is one of my favorite games ever. I have only ever bought one game on the app store and it was this game and i loved it. No problems with the game or controls or port at all. I have read several reviews criticizing the lack of an auto save. For those people all i have to say is grow a pair. There was no auto save on the PS1 version of the game. You had to go from save point to save point and not do something stupid like get yourself killed in the process. And if you did die, or you had to leave, that was that. Unless you wanted to risk your PS1 and leave the game and the TV on while you were out of the house. And save points are a dime a dozen and once you are on the world map, you can save any where. So it isnt even an argument. Hell, there is a save point 5 mins into the game. You can always save when ever you need to. So, grab this game. Play it. Grid like there is no tomorrow. Bask in the nostalgia and have a blast playing it over and over again. 😁😁😁

For those stuck at aeris house. Great port, running on my 6 plus no probs. although it needs a quit to main menu option. Also an option to Save anywhere is needed, or a way to permanently suspend the app, as I've left the phone for a little while to come back and find the game at the main menu. For those stuck at Aeris house, it's not a bug jeez. Change your D-pad to the directional buttons, and just push one at a time, in short intervals, till you get across. It's not that hard

Great Port. Apart from missing touch controls…loved them in the ix port, it’s what you’d expect, ff7 on a phone. Very fun game, and the fact that it wouldn’t close when exiting the app is great, a pause feature like this is perfect when you are on the go.

Awful. The lack of touch controls makes this game unplayable. Don’t waste your money. I will be seeking a refund

Square, take note. The game runs way too fast, I don't understand why the porting team made this decision? It's off putting, I have so many friends who were excited to play and all refuse to buy the game after seeing what looks like cloud running around like he has had too much coffee. Put down the mug cloud. Want 5 stars? Please correct the speed issue, add MFi controller support and you'll have a very very happy fan, right now this feels rushed, pun intended.

Smooth but some issues. Smooth run for the most part. None of the issues others have had, but my game randomly pauses, won't let me unpause so then have to force close the game and resume from last save. Usually before a summon animation. Quite frustrating but always a few kinks to iron out when adapting to iOS

Finally!!!. Thank you thank you thank you! I have waited so long for this. Only just started playing but everything is running smoothly!

Fantastic App, Needs AppleTV. It’s fantastic to have this port on iPad/iPhone and I am throughly going to enjoy playing this however this desperately needs to offer an AppleTV app as it makes complete sense to play it on the TV like it was designed. Congrats SquareEnix, looking forward to the AppleTV version.

Greatest game of our generation. This game without a doubt deserves 5 stars. It truly brings back memories. The only reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because it needs to utilize the iPhone 6plus full screen size, borders do not work for a impressed gameplay experience. Also the game need to also utilize the touch screen, analog makes the game feel outdated, on a touch device.

Simply the best!. This is mesmerising playing this especially on your phone... Genius whoever came up with the idea. Takes me back to when my dad was playing this and I was still a child watching. Thanks squaresoft before it was square enix. If you bring out 8 I'd be forever grateful to yous. And if yous could also add Legend of dragoon even though yous didn't make it. Inform the creators of that, I mean it when I say I'll be forever grateful. Thanks guys

Great blast from the past. Have been waiting for this for a while, great game and lots of mini games also. Works well, not seen any pausing problems myself ( iPad Air)

Slow. I was excited to play Final Fantasy 7 on the iPad but now I'm disappointed. I've found it runs very slowly. I also wish the control system was easier to use, more like they way it has implemented in FFIV for the iPad. In 7 it's as though the ps1 control was just just thrown in on top of the screen, you need to tap up and down arrows to choose items in a list rather than just tap them in the touch screen the way you would in IV. It's a real shame :(

Needs a fix. The game can stand for itself, but the app remains flawed. It still goes on PAUSE in the middle of a battle, and there is no way to get out of it other than a restart. You lose all the progress you've made up to that point. Absolutely frustrating!!!

Finally take my money square Enix. Can play on iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6+ Perfect if your complaining about the game how about you log out and retry nothing wrong with if anything. I went out and came back a few hours later and stil where it left of. Also you upload your data if you wanna play on phone instead of iPad use your iCloud

Awesome need to save at anytime though. Game works perfectly only thing is it needs to be saved at anytime I was playing then walked away to get a drink the screen saver came on then opened again lost my progress apart from that fantastic

Great game except for bug they won't fix. Good to get back to playing this masterpiece, however there is a bug that keeps happening where the game freezes and u lose all your progress because you have to restart it, quite hard if you intend on beating late game bosses...

Still some kinks to work out. The controller interface could use some work. Anyone stuck in Aeris's house, don't try to use the walk button, just run straight past.

Absolutely fantastic!. Love this game more than anything and have always returned to play it - but beware! If you 'max' your stats using the option, you will be unable to learn final attack due to not being able to use omnislash on cloud, and there's a few other nuances like incredibly low FPS on the world maps sometimes. But aside from all that, this is an absolutely lovely engaging game and is WELL worth the money. Already 40 hours in :)

Perfect. For those who facing super fast gameplay problem, open some apps such as safari, appstore and Facebook and let them run background to drain some of RAM and the game should be smooth to play

At last!. So good to see FF7 finally on iOS. One of my favourite games ever, so as they say, "shut up and take my money!" While the opaque controls work relatively well and are unobtrusive to the gameplay, I do think it was a mistake not to redesign them to suit the touch platform. The touch controls in the iOS version of FF6 are beautiful - why couldn't they do something similar for this? It does make it seem like a lazy copy & paste from the PC version, unfortunately. Gameplay speed is fine for me - comparable to what it was when I used to play on the PlayStation, back in the day. Improve the control system and this'll be five stars.

Buggy and unable to progress. It is a fairly nice port of the pc version but im unable to progress due to bugs (using iphone 6 plus with latest 8.0 os): 1. At the 1st time at aeris's house i am unable to sneak out. I hold down B and try to walk step by step but aeris still comes out every time i hit the 3rd or 4th step. Unable to progress to progress beyond this point. 2. Occasionally when i load a save file, the game speed increases considerably and this affects things in the field and battle. I have to reset my iphone 6 plus to get the speed back to normal again. Has happened more than twice so its annoying to have to reset each time it occurs. Everything else seems as i remembered with some slightly updated models. On the iphone 6 u can see the graininess of the pre rendered backgrounds but that is a result of the games age and is not disracting.

It's good, but not great.. It's great to walk down memory lane, and play a game that brings back so many memories from when I used to play it. There is only one thing that annoys me about it at the moment. At any random time, the game pauses, and I can't for the life of me, see any way of un-pausing it. I've pushed all the buttons, but nothing happens. Is this just a bug in the game, or is there a way to make it in-pause.

Needs quicksave. Beautiful app. Loving it but really needs a quicksave option or when locking my phone for a bit it needs to quicksave so when I come back I'm still where I was, also when you leave the app and return to it and it flips the screen it'll shut down 2/5 times. Very annoying please fix

I know how to fix pause glitch. The only way to fix the pause glitch is to activate the text menu during battle and leaving it on. U do so by pressing select in battle. Peae

Great game found an bug. Found a bug in the game, It occurred in battle sometimes it go to pause. Not sure how to get out of it so have to restart from where I saved from.. Other then that really good game.

Amazing but could be better.. This game is amazing, however gameplay would be improved if keyboard support was added for the iPad app.

Still the Best Game Ever Made. Amazing how a three-disk PlayStation 1 game fits in the palm of your hand.

Fantasniche and über. Great port of the classic hit RPG. Love playing on my iPad on the go or in bed. Runs well even on old iPad 3 from 2012. Anyone complaining about it being slow must have older iPads or devices. Well done square next bring chrono cross to mobile please.

Lazy lazy lazy. As a huge ff7 fan, this is a major disappointment. Regular crashing makes it hard to progress due to the way saving works in the game. The controls are terrible with zero thought by the developers. The game needs more love before it is playable on an iPad. I regret buying it even though I'm a ff7 fan.

Crashes and you lose your progress. Just got through a really hard part of the game and was happy with my progress after working so hard to get past the hard past. Then it just closed. I clicked on the app again and it took my to the Title screen - all my progress was lost. Absolutely awful experience that never happened on my old phone, it’s only ever happened on this App Store ff7 and that is actually awful considering how much I paid for this brand new phone. So annoyed .

Joystick dpad. Great game as always I just don't like how there's no option to change the d pad to analog during battles I'm playing on iPhone 5s and my fingers are to big for dpad so I constantly miss turns so yea other than that it's great and haven encountered any pausing bugs yet

Incredible. Quite possibly the greatest game ever made. At least in my opinion. Sure they graphics are dated, but they still hold a unique charm to them, but the soundtrack is as good as ever, one of the best ever in a game. The battle system, materia system, and weapon and armour systems are all fairly straight forward but have an incredible amount of customisation to them if you want to spend the time there to min/max. But the best thing about this game was always the characters and story. Sure it gets confusing, but just go with it as it pays off big time. Can't wait for the remake on the PS4!!

Hit right in the feels. Brings me back to my year 7 school days where I'd have 12 hour phone conversations with my best friend while we'd both play FFVII. I put hours in to this game and it's by far my favourite story from the whole FF collection. Plays exactly like it did on PS1. dpad selection for the battle scenes and menus is not an issue (despite what people have said). Don't remember Cloud ever running that fast outside the battle scenes but it's fine. Can't wait to relive this. Best app ever!

Quite buggy - rating based on game. FF7 is one of the best games of all time and to be on the iPad is fantastic. It has its bugs, it ain’t perfect but it’s not bad for a fairly direct port. The rating is based on the game itself not the irritating bugs like resetting the game if the screen is rotated on the final boss. But play it, and play it properly. The graphics aren’t great but it’s the story which does it.

AMAZING. I have been playing the game for over 30 hours now and I've really enjoyed it there are some issues but all the solutions can be found online :) Im so excited for the new remake coming soon and definitely recommend this app to any fans of final fantasy ! :)

Excellent. Graphics could be better though

FINALLY - THANKS SQUARE ENIX!. So the D pad doesn't let you walk diagonally but you can change it to a thumb stick which also allows you to play one handed. Love the little extras such as maxing all your stats from the menu for those who just love the story (although I like to level up myself) so far so good. The best thing to happen all year.

Best FF story of the lot.. The best story of the final fantasy series, although that max stat option is a bit random like a game shark, new generation gamers will never understand and appreciate the game play with that option. Child hood game I never thought we would meet in the App Store, but I'm glad we did :) Just one more thing, why is it so laggy on the world map outside of midgar.

Great port, but.... As a hardcore ffvii fan from when it was first released I can appreciate staying true to the core game experience, but playing on a phone is different to playing on a console and I feel as though being able to save at any point would be a very convenient feature for the phone version of the game. I have also experienced game speed issues. An exit to menu option would be handy as well. Glad to finally see the phone version of the game. Didn't think it would arrive so soon.

No sound.. Gameplay runs fine, just no sound. Really takes away from the whole experience. What can be done to fix this issue????

Bad Port. Love how you slapped on some Emulator Button layouts and then market it as a game. What's even more hilarious is that people are giving 5 star reviews because it bares the name "FF7" and thus anything with Final Fantasy 7 in the name can do no wrong.

Nostalgic. Brilliant! But I wish they made it more then just port...adding touch instead of a digital controller and allowing a full screen on 6 plus. But besides that the game is just as good as it's always been...and the saves are exactly as they were before...still a great game!

Finally. I've been waiting for this for so long! Possibly the best thing that has ever happened in history. Thank you!!!

Great Game but Gameplay too fast. I can never say anything bad about FF7 after the time I spent playing it as a child. It's a brilliant game however this adaption of it has set the gameplay speed too high. I go to move and I dash across the room. Make an update to reduce the gameplay speed or make it adjustable to preference.

Poor port, pricey and not updated in 2yrs. Both FF7 and FF9 need to be updated to work on modern iOS devices. - generally poor performance in game - game runs in boxed mode - with black bars on each side (doesn’t look good on iPhone X and probably similar devices) - controller pad need to be updated for larger displays - textures could be updated to be like the PC port - support for Bluetooth controllers would be welcomed - ability to sync game saves to square account would be nice too as I’ve put in a lot of time on the PC version My guess is square won’t touch these ports again (last update was over 2yrs ago). It’s such a shame because it only needs a few things to be modernised and the game would be improved massively. A fan can dream though...

Fix the "Pause" bug!!!. I love playing FF7. I can stand the lag issues and all but the only thing that really frustrates me is the game randomly pauses during the battle! If you are in battle arena, there is no chance in progressing coz the game pauses and thats it! You cant un-pause the game! You have to restart. Back to ZERO! Fix Fix Fix please!

Great game. Great game but it doesn't fill up the whole screen on my I phone 5s can it be fixed

Nostalgia. An update to accomodate aspect ratios of newer iPhones/iPads would be nice before the remake gets released. Otherwise this is a great time machine, if the only time you want to go back to is 1997.

Can't get out of Aries house!. Ultimate game but need to fix the bit when you leave Aries house because you can't sneak out!? Hurry up so I can keep playing!!!

great game.. please add Korean Language as well Hope you guys are well :)

Great game but needs fixing.. Enjoying the game so far. I've experienced the pause issue like others on here & I'm currently stuck at the excavation site. I can't go up the ladder to get the lunar harp in excavation mode. Please fix as it's pretty frustrating.

Everyone should know. The devs did a really slimy thing. Several of the FF titles were initially released- which I paid for - then removed from the store and the enhanced versions took their place. I will never support your company again

Awesome!. The game runs perfectly no glitches or issues with the controls. Glad I made this purchase totally worth it!

FF’s are great! But SERIOUSLY UPDATE your GAMES with IOS. Seriously. Final fantasy’s are great games HOWEVER, I’ve noticed that after some time SQUARE does not update with IOS UPDATES (this is what happened with my favorite games - Chaos Rings and Chaos Rings: Omega 😭😭😭). Final Fantasy VIII needs to be Updated as well as Final Fantasy IX. IX isn’t even compatible with the NEW IOS and is no longer in search. This wouldn’t be such a pain if you did not charge 20 to 40$ for a game. If you are going to charge THAT MUCH at least keep it updated. Sadly, I am NO LONGER buying anything from SQUARE anymore because of this. Hopefully some other more reliable RPG company will be made known to me. I AM DISAPOINTED!!! 😭 At least FFVII is still working, but I don’t know for how long. I keep worrying about it becoming incompatible a new IOS comes out.

Is there a point. If you aren’t updating final fantasy 9 to make it playable why should we buy any other of your games for money i highly suggest getting them on the switch or some other device they have left me hanging in the middle of my game and i sure as hell can’t start over on another console it would take hours

Apple TV support and automatic iCloud sync?. Any chance for Apple TV support (with MFI controller support) and automatic save data syncing via iCloud? I’d love to see both for all of the Final Fantasy iOS games.

FFii. Was super excited to play my favourite game on my phone but… Right from jumping off the train the controls are lame, next to impossible. This really sucks.

Decent port. Overall, this is a really good port of one of my all-time favourite games. I haven’t had any crashes or obvious errors. However, the analog stick seems to fight the 8-directional movement. I remember having the same problem to a lesser degree when using an actual controller, but now some screen transitions take you from an up-is-up orientation to an up-is-up/left orientation. A really rough example is in the gold saucer speed square - as you move from the station area into the event area, the orientation shifts so up/left on the analog stick actually takes you downscreen enough exit the area again. Buttons also don’t translate perfectly from the original controls, so expect some trial-and-error or use online guides to figure out the piano or the rocket combinations. Motorcycle escape from Midgar and G-Bike are also about 50% faster in this port. I was never a master at this minigame, but now my high score is 800 (yes, eight hundred, less than two kills worth). If you catch this one on sale, it’s worth the nostalgia value. First time players should pick it up on PSN to really appreciate it without the new quirks.

Best game ever. No exception to this iPad port. Still easily the most amazing game ever made. No noticeable issues for my iPad Air.

Thankful to be playing it on mobile but NEEDS IMPROVEMENT BAD!!. SE, if you are reading this PLEASE make the following changes and you will get 5 stars from every single review. - Screen size display options We DESPERATELY need to be able to make this full screen on our iPhones. We are literally playing this with black edges on top of the edges already from the game. PLEASE fix this. - Button layout This is a terrible button layout, the option to switch from directional to analog should be a setting and not a touch button on the bottom. -FPS The frame rate can be pretty bad at times. It doesn’t seem to be smooth at all. I think these are all doable fixes SE can do with a patch. This is the most favourite and most played final fantasy out of them all, we love this game as fans and regardless will play it no matter what it looks like on our phones, but please make it a more enjoyable experience. I’m dishing out 22 dollars for a ported game, we deserve better. Thank you

Meh...A lazy port.. Lame controls with no touch screen features at all and what ruins it for me most is the fact that you can't get rid of "Encounters On/Off" and "D-Pad A-Pad" buttons on the bottom of the screen which just take up space making the screen look even smaller... especially in battles. Super annoying and a huge oversight.

Bug de song. Il n’y pas de son bug

Horrible Interface. Should have left this game in the box. I played some of the other FF games on my iPad and thought they were okay. This one is almost unplayable. Waste of money $21 is way to much for this experience.

Doesn’t work on IOS 13. Last updated 3 years ago?!. Poor support from Square Enix. They haven’t even bothered trying to keep the game functioning for newer iOS releases. Lazy developer.

Nice. Nice

Amazing game. Wonderful game! Love that I can play on my iPhone & iPad! I wish you guys would also update this to work on the new Apple TV 4K! The cloud sync feature could be a little more automatic from device to device! This is 100% final fantasy VII! Please consider my 2 requests.

to MitchMt616.... the reason you have no sound if because your ringer muted, just flick the tiny switch and you will have sound

Awesome. Really nice to play this game again, and the port is pretty good, no issues so far.

Awful controls. Love the game since the original release, but the controls for this app are horrible. Get rid of the virtual controller and update with touch controls like all the other FF ports please.

Awesome. It’s exactly like the ps1 version, very happy with this purchase. Thanks!

Still Ok even with problems. My favorite game from childhood. Unfortunately mini games are messed up, music seams to just continually start at the beginning in some locations. Speed coaster and just a jumbled mess of images that would cause a seizure and they added touch screen support which is a terrible addition... Honestly it’s not even worth playing on a iPhone. The experience sucks if you want to go for completion... but it’s kinda fine to just run through the game quick and burn some time.

just like i remembered. great job

Great game but square you disappoint. Like last time I bought an ff game for iPhone (like 6 years ago (ff1)) now that an update came out there is no sound. They never fixed that so I doubt they’ll fix this. guess I’ll have to buy it for switch. The Game it self is one of the best ever made. Of course the soundtrack is a big part of that.

Poor effort. Square Enix is the laziest dev on iOS no updates crashes and glitches and this is one their flagship games I am sure this game will be delisted at some point just like chaos rings Buyer beware!

Classic !. This classic plays well on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. The only reason I give it 3/5 is I believe they could have made better use of the larger screen Real estate. A simple update for larger screen sizes would make a huge difference. There is some modern updates included that are welcomed additions like the iCloud save, and a toggle for battle encounters. Overall it’s a great port of a true classic RPG that is still worth the price tag in 2021

iCloud saves not working - iOS 12.5.7. F I N A L F A N T A S Y 7 + Failed to connect to iCloud (for saves) ????? Please bring back other legacy titles!

Dont listen to the haters. Great game for reasonable rate on iphone. Exactly like the final fantasy you remember except now in your pocket. The controls take a little time to get used to yes but once you do it like im 9 all over again. Buy this game!

Really?. Still not gonna bother putting touch combat menu? With a controller it would be decent but personnally that awful touch pad wastes the entire experience for me. After so many complains about it, still dont give a damn. What a waste compared to other ports.

CPR glitch in harbour saving Priscilla says to press x. Super fun glitch in the harbour while trying to do cpr to Priscilla yetvstuck in dialog it ask to press ex but there’s no ex button fix this cause I’m stuck

Great game. I was hesitant to purchase originally due to some of the poor reviews however the game control is great although does take some getting used to. I’ve had no problems progressing the game. Easily the best RPG for the PS1 and great to replay it on my phone. I do recommend purchasing when it’s on sale usually around Christmas.

Great port, but needs fix for home button erasing all game data. The port runs very well and feels true to the original! The same music, same look and feel, and the interface feels the same! I'm falling in love with this game again. Technology has advanced a lot so the flaws of the original are more readily apparent, not like on the TV sets of old where it looked flawless. This makes it more authentic IMO, and I wish Square had also done this with FFVI instead of redoing the art to a substandard level of quality. To all those complaining about widescreen, what do you expect? The game was made for 4:3 analog televisions. Do you expect them to stretch the source material like in some other ports? I sure hope not. It's great on my 4:3 iPad. :) Don't like the button opacity? Change it in the config! What would make it a five star port for me: Lost all of my progress after pressing home and returning to the game later. Continue was greyed out and I had to start all over. Over world and some scenes are too laggy and should be rendered at 1024x768 instead of 2048x1536. Music should not restart from beginning after a battle. Fix these bugs and it's five stars from me. It would also be nice to hide the god mode and random encounter options. Stuff like that ruins the game IMO.

Bring it to Apple TV !!. Please could you bring FFVII to Apple TV please ???! That would be awesome to play on my tv screen !!!!

Horrible controls. The terrible controls make it really hard to enjoy this game. A lot of missing what you meant to click or hit. Forget ever playing Vincent. The controls will shoot right over the number and then your screwed. Such a shame since I was really looking forward to this memorable game.

Non-functioning Controls. Unable to properly progress with poor controls (sneak part at beginning). Completely unplayable for most

Dont read bad review. This game is awsome !!! just need to adjust control but overall very good RPG for a mobile game ! One of the best ! Love it on my ipad now downloading it on my iphone 😬

Waste of money. Game is freezes constantly, square enix needs to do something with this pile of $hit considering they charged over 20$ for it. Fack you square...

Disappointing port. Incredibly disappointed with this port. iOS ui shows when playing (time, cell reception and battery icons remain while playing). Definitely cannot recommend this for newer iPhones as the full screen isn’t used properly at all. Don’t waste your money. Look elsewhere if you’re interested in playing this iconic game.

People are too quick to judge and call it bad!. I’m not really sure what people are complaining about. People seem really quick to judge this game as a bad port for dumb reasons; like just because the controls are in one spot and things aren’t really touch screen. Y’all seem to forget the real Final Fantasy VII was never touch screen right? For the person complaining that you can’t sneak...you’re supposed to hold B and walk and you’ll end up walking slow. As you were told to do right in the beginning where you get to name Barett. In that part where you have to sneak out of Aeris’s house, hold down B and start walking by taking pretty well one quick step at a time. Even down the stairs like that as well or you’ll be caught. Anyway, I haven’t had the game crash or freeze on me either. I’m assuming that’s a device problem and not a problem based on this being a “bad port”. The only thing I notice is that I get a black screen for about 2 or 3 seconds after every battle i get into while out exploring the world (not in town, only while out of towns exploring the world) and that’s hardly even an issue honestly. Definitely no gonna revoke a star in my rating due to that. The controls are easy to adapt to but maybe that’s just cuz I’m on a giant iPad Air. I guess I could see how trying to play this on an iPhone would be rough with all the buttons overlaid on top of everything all the time. But still. In my opinion this is a solid game and solid port. I have no complaints and would always recommend buying this one. It takes up a fair bit of room though so make sure you have enough room on your device before choosing to buy and install. Hope you all enjoy this beauty as much as I do! <3 :)

FFVII is an all time favourite!. FFVII is an all time favourite! I loved it when I young and I still enjoy the series.. with that said; can we get a ‘Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII’ mobile version? It’s a PSP game, but I’d buy it for mobile any day! Thank you for the support! Note: Can we get an update for touch screen on the battle scene?

Working fine but... This port is good. The zones transition time is quicker and the tactile controls are smooth. My only concern is the weird intermittent slowness that can trigger when travel on the world map. I would also like to be able to change video settings like the screen resolution for full screen. This should be possible to patch these.. what is the ETA? Don’t be lazy and fix it. This is FFVII and deserve some more attention.

Good. Would be better with the overworld-music-restarting bug fixed.. After each random battle encountered in the overworld, the music restarts. This means you’ll hear the start of the overworld theme over and over instead of the whole theme. The Switch version got a fix for this bug...

Not worth the money. Unplayable, honestly this port is a disgrace.

No full screen and no sound. Lolll commun guys .. Big compagny like yours .. 14$ in the trash .. not even mounted for iphone 7 plus , and no sounds .. I want a refund or an update right now .. You should not be stealing money from people that care about this game .. i install a emulator on my computer and get it for free lolll Thats sad !!

It functions. Needs update. This is a lame port and needs a substantial update. Not advised for iPhones because it’s 4:3. Use alt store and RetroArch.

Great. Perfect so far 👍🏻

Sa coche mais. Le seul vrai problème qu il y a ses avec le jeu ses les course de chocobo ses meme pas les bon item qu ils donnent quand on gagne

Good enough. Open-Map is slow, at least I got to finish the game

Amazing classic playable on the go. Yes this port has minor flaws. Yes the controls are a bit odd and we all wished for a true touch capable port. Yes it looks old. But people need to remember this game was made in 1997. This game has aged terribly, BUT the story has not. Do yourself the favour and join Cloud and his gang for a 40+ hour adventure. I do recommend playing on an iPad, but iPhone is doable with the on screen controls. I found the odd time sound effects cut out and only music plays, find a save spot and restart the app and you’re good to go. For the ones complaining about tough mini games due to controls, utilize the fact you have options for analog or digital touch pad. That will solve your problems I promise. Long story short, buy this game with the knowledge that it is old and just sit back and enjoy the insanely detailed lore and world that square built for us. You won’t regret it.

Nice. I give this a 5

Sloppy port. The game doesn’t fill the screen (I don’t mean widescreen; the aspect ratio is correct, but it plays in a smaller box instead of adapting to the height of the screen). Onscreen controls are always present, even when you have an MFI controller connected (almost every other MFI game handles this correctly). You can hide them by setting opacity to 0, but then they’re also invisible when you don’t have a controller connected. The “Encounters” option and analog/digital settings are always present and can’t be hidden at all (why?). If you launch the game with a controller connected, you get stuck in the opening credits, which loop over and over and can’t be bypassed. Just very poor attention to detail all around.

This game isn't suitable for mobile. Wish I listened to reviews.. If you don't plan to play in at least 45-60 minute sessions, don't get this game. You can only save at designated save points. So you are forced to play for long periods of time until you reach a save point, or you find yourself replaying portions of the game. You can't pick it up and put it down at will. And the controls and screen are to cramped for the expansive environments. It really just doesn't work on mobile.

I completed game no bugs. I was played before on ps1 and psp but now played again on iPhone and works very good. I guess it has better graphics than old psx. I was able to complete the whole game after about 3 months playing and i did not face any bug while playing. Autosave is very nice option too.

Great game, Great Port, One Problem. The game is great and plays very well on iOS. The only issue is that, like the original, you have to wait until you find a save point before saving the game. This becomes a problem when playing on the go as there are often times when you will be interrupted or not come across a save point in time. What happens is you close the app and after a few moments you open to play again and the progress you made has been erased back to the last save point.

Enormous Saving Problem. Plan on getting stuck playing the game for long stretches, while looking for a save point to avoid replaying very large sections of the game. You will lose your progress if you leave the app for more than a minute or two, and save points can often be very far apart. I think I played the end of Shinra tower section five times over before I carved enough time out of a day to sit down and slog through it again, without using any other features of my phone. Obviously very little thought went into this attempt to make some quick cash.

Lack of screen options. This is a decent port. All the main stuff is there but beware the screen is built for the older phone models. It's much smaller and you can't remove the blue bars. You can't even recolor the blue bars black! This is terrible design as it causes constant eye strain between the tiny screen and blue bars. The blue is just too bright. This was one of the few IOS games that made me physically ill. Unplayable in this state for me. Really sad since SE usually has great support for their apps. Amazing that one of their most popular games was left in such bad shape. When you add in the lack of full touch integration this port should be avoided at all cost. Not worth the money at all.

Not better than playing on an emulator. Unfortunately, for a premium priced mobile game, this game does little to adapt to the platform, emulating controller buttons on the screen, when selecting menus, and movement could take a lot of advantage of the touch interface. Minimal effort was done to port this game for mobile, yet it’s still a great game, and it’s the full experience, unfortunately, not the best one.

Please add auto-save. Fantastic port to iOS. While it has some issues (selecting enemies in combat is one big one) this is overall a decent port. One glitch that is super irritating is on my iPad Air 2 if I rotate the iPad while the game is active it crashes. I have lost lots of progress due to this very annoying glitch. An auto-save feature would be nice, the menu implies it exists but not sure how it works...

arguably the best money i’ve spent on a game. So we’re quick, I am 33 yr old that grew up watching the older brother play when it first came out. i was so in awe of the story line and the character development…..no wonder why FFVll is sooo influential for FF fans. this brought me tears as im playing through it. i love this game so much. thank you for bringing this back to us for our phones 👏🏽👏🏽

Big finishing issue. Ok I love this game, but there's one problem. I'm at safer sephiroth right now and there's multiple issues right now. 1, I have a 5s and should be able to operate correctly. 2.I remember him having like 70,000 hp not like 999,999 or something, he won't die!!!3,sometimes when I'm doing good, the game just closes out on me!!! I want these issues to be fixed, but until then don't play too much and get to the final boss. Thank you

Overrated but still a great game. While I think this game is overrated and there’s better FF titles out there, it’s still an amazing game worthy of your attention. I honestly really like the controls, as well. Thanks for the updates and adding autosave feature, that’s a real life saver while playing a mobile game. Highly recommend buying this, if only to experience the Final Fantasy that changed the game with RPG’s, even though it’s not my favorite.

A great start to the RPG franchise. A great port from the original. A few graphical glitches but that's to be expected from a port. If you want to begin a game in the RPG or final fantasy franchise, then this game is for you. The only things I have to warn you about is if you like simple plots, this final fantasy game is not for you. In my opinion, it is my current favorite game. I can't wait for the HD remake!

I’m in love all over again. This was my favorite game when it was new on PlayStation, i actually still have 2 copies of the game with my PlayStation still but it’s old so it hardly works. When i seen this on my apps i got so excited !! Pricing not bad at all either and the game on my phone appears to be the exact same as i remembered on the PlayStation. Memories ! I’m in love all over again now i can’t get off of it

Great game!!!. After reading other people's reviews about lag, frame rate issues, sound/music....I'm just glad that i have not experienced any glitches or bugs. I have multiple save files, and currently at 70+hours in. All characters lvl 99, 3 sets of master magic, master summon, master command materia. Farming sources to max out stats right now. I would highly recommend this for anyone who originally played FF7 and loved it. Modern-era gamers may not appreciate the old school gfx.

Best rpg ever!!!. Just got myself an iPhone 7 plus and this game runs fantastic on it. I had a iPhone 5c and bought it anyway knowing it wouldn't run smooth but I felt it was well worth it. Anyway this is a classic. It wasn't meant to be upgraded people. Personally I like it original. I would give it a 6 star cause if the factor u can turn off encounters. Loving the game and always will. Great job!!!!!

Can’t get through Aerith’s house!. Love the game... I spent $16 on this because I love it. I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. But... there’s a part where you have to move slowly through Aeriths house to sneak out.... it’s impossible to accomplish because there is no way to move slowly. The controls are super speedy. I’ve tried probable 2 dozen times... just barely tapping on the screen and it just isn’t possible. This needs to be fixed or at least an option to skip it.

Full Screen Please!. iPhone X real-estate is not being used. Wallpaper on the sides and still more black space. Consider updating! Edit: It’s 2020! Can we not get FFVII full screen yet? We have full screen pictures of Mars’ surface, but can’t get a game from 1997 stretched full screen? Admittedly, the pics of Mars could be a hoax! Haha! Seriously, assign a team for this mission, pronto! Too much time has already been wasted in the dark ages!

Game is great, controls are garbage. I like this game a lot, but I've almost deleted it several times due to the control issues. Not being able to get around npc's, spending minutes of time trying to position just right to get on a ladder, and directional control changing at each camera shift really take the fun out of it sometimes. Sticking with it though, thanks for a cool game.

Amazing classic. Final fantasy 7 is my all time favorite, can't wait for the remake series. Only thing I think could be fixed is controller scheme. Final fantasy 9's (mobile) controls are way less clunky then the emulation styler controls on this game. Other wise thanks for the PC port. Just waiting for the most emotional final fantasy for me now (FF8, but definitely needs a graphic revamp).

No full screen mode. Not properly adapted to different displace ratios. Stuck seeing time, battery charge and lte signal etc while playing. I’ve already bought this game a ton of times (for pretty much every platform I have), so it’s obvious I consider this a 5 star game. I wasn’t expecting much from this port to iOS, however I figured it would have had at least been properly adapted with full screen etc .

Great Game With Some IOS Bugs To Work Out. First off, many people complain about the graphics and the gameplay. It's a ps1 game. In its time those were A+ graphics and the game was an instant classic. Because of that, its only gotten minor polishes to preserve its nostalgic value and because changing mechanics and full on graphical changes could cause an uproar, SE wants to keep it as close to the actual game as possible. Many people love the game this way. With that said, the iOS port has a few bugs right off the bat. Thankfully though SE has been fixing them.

Great game. The game still lives up after all these years. The best part to me was always the music and the gameplay. I haven’t noticed any issues with this port but it does play a little different than on controller. Just remember what task you are doing cause sometimes you can get lost. Great game!

Lazy port.. This port has to be a joke. You port over one of the greatest games to iOS and you do it a disservice like this? Like come on Square. Game itself plays fine but holy crap the graphics are worse than playing a PS1 on a modern TV. I played this on my iPhone 11 Pro and the game has to be running at what? 300p? I mean it looks bad on a 5.8 inch screen. Then im like well maybe its better on my iPad Pro 10.5 inch and its even WORSE its so freaking blurry. Even the switch port is better. The hell Square ill never get another mobile game of yours even again.

Great but could be better. The one feature that I'm shorting a start for is the no auto save. There are a lot of things I could give this game credit for in sticking with my natural bias for final fantasy as a whole. But I've been spoiled by the lasted releases and wish that the FFXII remake would come out for iOS. I've played type 0 and the demo for FFXV and loved them both so the bar is set high for me with the remakes of the old saga.

Great Game. I was a huge fan of this game growing up and having it on my phone is awesome. Honestly I still haven't even beat it but this game offers so many hours of fun and yeah it gets frustrating but that's the fun of it. 10/10 great game and love having it on the phone. The controls on some parts are a little hard and kind of restrict you but it's on a phone what can you expect. Any ways great game worth the money for hours of fun.

Best mobile game out there. It’s almost as good as the original, I only say “almost” because the game occasionally glitches, but it’s nothing too major, and it might just be the device I’m on (iPhone 6). The controls are smooth and work a lot better than I thought. The game is a little pricey, but it’s definitely worth it. This is a MUST PLAY.

Ahhhh classic. Haven’t even finished downloading yet but this is by far my favoritist game of all time I grew up with the franchise I use to play this for endless hours completed many many times before. I don’t play video games anymore but this is my first iPhone I saw this and immediately had to have it. Thanks for making a mobile version.

Good game - Bad controls. This game is a classic and having it on my phone is amazing. This is one of my favorite games of all time. That said, bringing this to a cell phone isn’t an easy task. I have seen other game ports like earlier Final Fantasy games with touch screen controls to make selections in battle that are fluid and make sense. To make a virtual controller for this ruins the whole experience and makes it difficult to play. If they could do it for other games, why not here?

Remains a Classic. This is one of the best games of all time and now in our pocket! I only wish it allowed the use of the entire screen for controls and included a nice border. Also, it would be great if the time, power, connection icons would move to the top of the screen in the new border instead of staying on in the top of the phone position.

Fantastic iOS port!. The perfect port. Exactly as you remember. Those complaining about the controls ruining the aesthetics need only turn down the opacity in the menu. Those complaining about no auto save don't understand. You need to survive until you find a save point. It's how the game functions. It's how it has always functioned. I have this on my iPad and phone. FF7 is the greatest rpg of all time, now I have it in the palm of my hand. Great job Squaresoft... I mean Square-Enix. (Ha)

Such a shame for a wonderful classic game. I wrote big reviews before for this game yet my message was obviously not heard since most the problems are still there. So I’ll be brief. This is coming from someone using an iPhone 6s and iPad Mini 2. The game is full of glitches and flaws. The world lags to the point where I stopped playing. The graphics are NOT PC quality as was advertised. The port was done so half-assed I can only say one thing regarding that: SHAME ON YOU SQUARE FOR LETTING SUCH A PRICELESS GAME BE PORTED WITH ALL THESE GLITCHES AND LAG. Seriously, this is truly unacceptable. We’re talking Final Fantasy 7 here. This game is what made Squaresoft so popular. Please don’t neglect this game. This is my most addictive game of any game I played for 30+ years. If I stopped playing this game because of the flaws and glitches, that’s saying a lot. My two cents….

Very poor use of newer screens.. The game appears to function, but looks terrible (and I’m not talking about PS1 graphics). The actual playable screen space is about 1/3 of the total display in newer iPhones. The entire thing runs in a double letterbox (each a different color), with a triple letterbox for videos. Controls overlap the playable screen despite significant unused space. Finally, floating UI elements are left on, further distracting from a game that deserves far better treatment. I really wish I could return this purchase.

Overall good. The game runs well on my iPhone 7 Plus. I have no issue navigating with the touch-analog. The analog is typical for mobile games and works just fine for FF7. The price is a bit steep but it’s a long game. I bought it for a 13-hour plane trip and it diverted my attention and made the hours fly by (pun intended!).

Just Like I Remember. This is such a great game. I still have my PlayStation version and this version is just as good! I really love the max stats option, so you don't have to go through and level up if you don't want to. If there was a Max Materia option, it would be even better! Still 5-star worthy though!

Lack of Auto-Save is a big problem. I love this game & am overjoyed at the opportunity to play it on my phone. But like most people, I have to use my phone for many things & often have to quit playing unexpectedly to send a text or an email or make a phone call or a variety of other things. If it's just a quick text & back, the game usually holds my spot, USUALLY. But too often I find myself opening another app to do what's needed, and then when I finally have time to go back to my FFVII game, all my progress has been lost all the way back to the last hard save. All the previous FF titles on iOS had an auto-save function that would prevent this. I have tried several time to play this game on iOS & I can't even get to the Shinra HQ due to the lack of auto save. It's incredible frustrating & it makes it impossible for me to play on this platform. PLEASE add an auto-save function!

The only complaint. I enjoy this game so much. The only complaint is that PS4 version allows you to put on Unlimited HP/MP/LB and you can just play the game and level and enjoy. This game you have to go God Mode, but that doesn’t help learning the Limit Breaks as you have to use and kill them, meaning you can’t experience the game to its fullest without grinding it like the old days. I’d love to play this game on my phone like I can on my PlayStation.

I love this game but. I love this game however I would like to ask for it to support iPhone X/XS and iPhone 11 screen sizes please and thank you [still hasn’t been fixed and now I have iPhone 13 (still play it all the time however I would like just a update please and thank you )]

5 stars. I will always give this game a 5 star and more I grew up playing these on Playstation always loved the final fantasy seri s since Nintendo now all we need to do SQUARE is put FF8 on the App Store that's also a fave of mine plz do so we all want it also the only problem I'm having is that the game won't connect to iCloud I'd love to back up my data on my iCloud can you fix this

Greatly done, one issue. I love the iCloud feature that allows you to continue playing the same save file on multiple devices. I primarily play on my iPad and every once in a while play on my phone (usually on break at work). Whenever I play on my phone there’s no sound. It’s not my phone, it’s the app. Sound works with literally every other app except my FF7 app. Other than that I have no complaints. Thanks for making it possible for me to replay one of my favorite games of all time

Hastily made port. I have all of the first 7 Final Fantasy games for iOS and this port is hands down the worst. While every other game has been modified to be touch screen friendly, FF7 looks like they took a cheap PlayStation emulator and packaged it as a full priced title. The controls are just awkwardly overlaid on the screen and take away from the experience. I preferred the older 8bit and 16bit FF games when I was younger so I don't have nostalgia for this one, but the cheap port pushes it over the edge. Wish I didn't buy it.

FF7 cmon. My favorite game of all time finally I can play wherever I want. There's a button on screen to disable random encounters so that's there to temp you all the time...very temping. Controls took some getting used to and I'm sure choco racing will be frustrating with the screen controls as apposed to a controller but it will be well worth it. If you love this game, get it. If you've never played this game, get it. Best story line in a game I've ever played; and I'm 30 with no life, ha!

So many people never read the dialog.. All these people like “You can’t walk!” Hold the “b” button while moving to walk. It tells you 2 minutes in. On the other hand the lack of iPhone X screen support is kinda disappointing, especially given that it hinders not only the viewable area, but also the areas that you can use offscreen controls that otherwise overlap with viewable area. This is otherwise a perfectly wonderful and playable port, even in 2020 on a modern phone.

Do Yuffie warping work on this version?. So, I played this version and I have to say I loved every second of it. All glitches have been fixed, and I thoroughly enjoyed having access to ffvii every where I went. After playing it on iOS, I learned about Yuffie warping. I’d love to use it for a play through with Aerith. Has anyone accomplished this on the iOS version?

I have been waiting...... This game is so awesome for an app. The game play is smooth and the controls are good. I remember playing this game as a kid. Man, I'm so glad they made it as an app. Worth the money. I could have waited for it to go on sale, but couldn't wait any longer. Now I can take my iPad anywhere and play this game whenever I want. No more pc version for me.

Quite a bit of room for improvement. No option to fill the whole screen so the whole time I’m playing on my iPad I have to look at this gross black bar at the bottom of the screen, no smoothing filter like many other PSX to iOS ports have, and no way whatsoever to just freely move buttons where I want them. I think this just needs a little quality of life update to fix shortcomings it developed in the four years between its last update and now.

Is this ever going to get fixed?. I've played through twice now and have run into the same problem. I'll finish both Wutai missions, go to Bone Village after Arieth leaves, and the game won't let me climb the ladder to the upper area to find the Lunar Harp. I've wasted a considerable amount of time waiting for this glitch to get fixed after all whole year and keep running into the same problem after spending a considerable amount of money. When are you going to fix this'll game?!?

This is not a remake. For all who have played Final Fantasy 7 for the PS/1 this is the exact same version. For those who have not played Final Fantasy 7 do not expect advanced controls, saves or graphics. If you are expecting nice little auto saves or other little fancies that the new systems have you will not have them, this is a PS/1 reboot not a remake thank you.

A classic, not very mobile. I’m a world where non of the other FF ports existed, this would be the best thing to ever happen. But this basically isn’t a port. It’s just the PlayStation version you know, stuffed inside an iPhone. - rather than create controls based on a touchscreen, the just took the old game and slapped a translucent, slightly intrusive PlayStation controller over top of the screen. - the biggest hit for me- no autosave. Which in my experience, essentially means this isn’t a mobile game. If you have the guaranteed time to play from save point to save point, this is still a way to relive one of the greatest games ever made! At the end of the day, it is still FF VII on iPhone and that is amazing. But for a better experience, I recommend almost any other classic ff game in the App Store.

Omg fix whirlwind Maze glitch. #1 So I'm at the Whirlwind Maze and trying to get through the second little barrier that knocks you back and forces you into a fight. Specifically it is the one that has the big green energy beam as well. I have literally failed at this 40 times in a row and the green beam doesn't even start at the very right of the screen, it starts in the middle. This seems like a bug, and it's super obnoxious because you are forced into battle at each failure. I quit the application entirely and reloaded a save and it's the same thing. Getting through these was a breeze back in the day, so this has to be some sort of bug.

Almost there. Great game, it's a must buy if ur a fan. I play it on the iPhone 6 + and controls r good smooth, gameplay is classic, graphic ps1. I'm only giving it 4 bc it does not auto save for me. The save points may b too distant from each other, so I don't make it to one. It's annoying having to save each opportunity to avoid lost progress. I hope this is an easy fix.

STILL THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!. Been waiting 20 years to play this game on something handheld. Finally!! Never has a video game captured my imagination or my heart like FF7 has. Well worth the price. Don't listen to any haters. It's an excellent port. Not only can you transfer your save with iCloud. There's an auto-save feature as well. After finding out that the upcoming remake is going to be released episodically, and using an action-style battle system, this may turn out to be my consolation prize.
