Connection issues.. For the most part this app seems to work great. Unfortunately, it’s not 100%. My biggest issue I seem to have is using Wi-Fi. It doesn’t matter if it’s my home Wi-Fi connection, or my Wi-Fi at work, or any public Wi-Fi. Once I connect to my Wi-Fi at home, the VPN will be connected and work fine; but when I leave and I shut the VPN off, or even when I leave it on when using mobile data, it tends to not want to reconnect to Wi-Fi, any Wi-Fi. If I have the VPN on at home on my Wi-Fi, and then go to work, my phone will not connect to the Wi-Fi at work. The VPN will be on, but it won’t connect to the Wi-Fi. If I turn the VPN off suddenly it connects to the Wi-Fi. Turn the VPN back on and you’re back on LTE. I’ve tried multiple things to try and connect to the Wi-Fi and the VPN, and the only thing that works is shutting the phone off and turning it back on. Then when I leave work, whether I turn the VPN off or leave it on, when I get home it won’t connect to my home Wi-Fi. I will have the VPN on over the LTE, and it won’t connect to my Wi-Fi once again. The only way to connect to the Wi-Fi is to shut the VPN off, or once again power off the phone and back on again.

Constantly disconnected or "Resolving...". JUL 31, 2017: ----- The last few updates have progressively made this app less and less reliable. Desktop apps for PC and Mac are great, but the iOS app is constantly dropping the VPN connection, or stuck "Resolving...". This lack of reliability is unacceptable and has really turned me off from using PIA. Having to intervene and manually switch VPN endpoints to force the app to re-establish a connection is not a tolerable solution. Update AUG 7, 2017: ----- The recent 2.2.2 update has drastically improved connection stability. In the week since the 2.2.2 update I have only encountered only 1 or 2 disconnects, down from the previous 8-10 DAILY disconnects I was experiencing. Finally, the iOS app seems like a reliable VPN solution for mobile! Thank you PIA for sticking with this issue and working to resolve these problems. Update OCT 30, 2017: ----- Well It seems since the recent iOS updates the frequent “Resolving...” issue has resurfaced. Again having to manually switch VPN endpoints to force the app to re-establish a connection, which is intolerable. Hopefully PIA will resolve this soon - shopping around for alternatives otherwise.

Great OVERALL PRIVACY Service. Within the past year PIA had a customer data issue, and according to trustworthy influencers (Linus Tech Tips) the company has completely revamped their model. They are one of the first VPN providers that is attempting to monetize PRIVACY rather than monetizing data, you will see this in their iOS apps such as InBrowser (came with my purchase) and others that their new model is to act as an “All-in-One” internet privacy provider. I sound like a shill, but I have done a lot of research on the matter and thought I would share. Also, I am coming from ExpressVPN and suffered a lot of connectivity issues (the initial connection to their servers took too long in my view) I think trusting your VPN provider is very important and PIA knows all eyes are on them after the customer data issue, and you can see the changes they have made even upon brief glances.

Best VPN I have ever used. I have tried a few different VPNs in my life so far… And private Internet access is not only the greatest VPN I have ever used, it is also one of the all-time best companies I have ever done business with. This is the most affordable VPN I have found on the market with some of the best speeds possibly out there… The best track record of no logs possible and the greatest selection of . different places to connect to around the world that I have used to date this far. I also really appreciate the 24 seven live chat help. I was skeptical at first… And for a few weeks, I would send constant emails and chat with countless customer support agents on the website before making my final choice to leave my current VPN and make the switch… Let me tell you it was one of the best decisions I had made in 2022. Not only did they speeds match my own connection speed up to 99%. It allows me to stream from multiple multiple multiple. The 10 X connections is great for friends and family and the whole household… Computers, cell phones, tablets… Private Internet access pretty much has everything covered. I honestly see myself with private Internet access for as long as I possibly can be. I’m contemplating and thinking about buying one or two more three-year subscription plans … merging them all together to top off to a near-10 year subscription plan… That is how impressed I am.

Please fix new version or let us upload old one. Hello dear team I successfully used you app on my iPhone and laptop (Apple) for quite some time. Recently something went wrong and here is what I experience: 1) with downloaded pia app (and I uninstalled and reinstalled it several times from App Store; obviously, rebooted my phone as well) I can’t use any app that requires internet connection nor I can use safari or any other browser on my phone. Once I delete the app- internet works. 2) when I open pia app, sign in and try to connect- the “on” button remains red- it never picks a country. I tried both- automatic and manual choice. 3) when I switch internet provider and/or source- I still experience problems mentioned above. Update: after new version (3.23.4) came out - it still doesn’t work on IPhone 11

It’s OKAY.. To be honest this is the only VPN app I’ve used. The chrome extension on desktop is the best. For phones it’s okay. I keep getting this issue where it’s stuck on trying to reconnect, it doesn’t cycle through servers after a certain amount of time after not connecting. It mostly happens on WiFi but can happen on mobile cellular data too. Obviously I like to keep my kill switch on so this is a problem. I like it, I haven’t plucked up the courage to switch to a competitor but I just feel like with a few small improvements this could have been a 4star maybe 5 with a couple extra things to make it a bit more seamless. It’s fine for basic use but even then it lacks a certain polished feel one would come to expect as a paying customer.

Run, run far away from this app—they’re stealing.. I thought this was great for a few weeks. Then, PIA updated or otherwise changed the app. It no longer works at all. Nothing. Entering name and password gets me to a screen that doesn’t do anything. No protection at all. When I explained the problem to PIA (hilarious because it took forever to try to get the simple chat function working) I repeated a request I’d make earlier for them to fix it or refund. The response was that I had seven days from my payment to cancel, thus my two year payment cannot be refunded. And advice on how to get a new password if I forgot it. Obviously, that person didn’t even read the chat, or was too stupid to follow along. So I got 30days of service for a couple hundred bucks. For the next 19 months PIA will be keeping my money and not providing any service. PIA stole my money, and they’ll steal yours too, if given a chance. Run far away from these people.

Once a champ, now a dud!. I've used PIA across multiple hardware for years. Once loved now I'm shopping for the something new and stable. Lately the past 3-4+ versions have been terrible! I don't know what you've done? But, you broke it! My laptops both Win10 and IOS, PIA constantly crashes then eventually locks up when claiming to be disconnecting. Sometimes so bad it requires a reboot. My cell forget about it. It is constantly trying to connect or get a public IP. Forget crossing networks, I'll experience up to a ten minute delay in getting the vpn connected. It's become so bad if I don't turn it off for a few seconds multiple times in a day, my texts and notifications are delayed up to a day or two. I work in health IT and protecting PHI and sensitive info is mandatory. I stopped using my cell for work related items. I contacted their support and they had the audacity to proceed in that it was something on my end! Same behaviors, multiple devices, multiple networks, once it worked, now it's broke. I didn't change a thing. I used to recommend and would even debate in the past PIA it was the best, now I don't even mention that I have it.

Everything except automation. It works great as a VPN. So it does it’s primary job excellently. My annoyance is the automation doesn’t really work. It has a seeing where it can automatically connect to VPN when on a public Wi-Fi and automatically disconnect when connected to known (like home) networks. This almost never works works opening the app, which kind of defeats the point of the automation. I’ll be at a coffee shop, notice I’m not connected, and open the app, it’ll auto connect. I get home, some random VPN restricted app like Netflix isn’t working, I open PIA and it’ll properly disconnect. You can obviously use the app without these automations. I’m mostly leaving these comments hoping they fix it

When it stays connected I like it. Like everyone else, I have huge connection problems. It loses the VPN IP regularly and does not reconnect when moving between networks. I have to manually power cycle every time I leave my home wifi. Even if PIA shows connected, if you have the kill switch on, apps and browsing is often blocked because somehow PIA has lost the server. I also experience slow speeds and super long reconnect times for PIA. I'm on cellular right now at a coffee shop, I've been at the same table for an hour, and PIA has lost the VPN IP twice and killed my connections. I did fine the first month, then when I purchased the 3yr plan it went south. I thought the reinstall (to change accts) messed with it, but based on reviews and comments it may have simply been unfortunate timing. I really like PIA's philosophy and want to stay with them. But when I have to turn it off to finish my work because I'm having that many problems, I'm forced to consider another. I'll keep trying. I paid for 3 yrs after all. (And to the March 22 reviewer who is annoyed by all the "can't connect" comments: I HAVE "experimented" with the settings. It still doesn't work. I'm glad yours does. Truly. But that doesn't mean mine does.)

App kills iphone xs battery.. Good service for 40$/yr but the app needs work. It just kills my battery in OpenVPN mode. It is fine in IPSec. But in both modes I will almost always get a dead internet connection when using the kill switch where I would have to manually go into the app and reconnect. A better solution to using the official PIAVPN app is the OpenVPN Connect app found here on the app store. You can download the custom .ovpn profile from the PIA website, or you can manipulate one on your computer and import onto your iDevice the profile with a cloud storage app, and enter your credentials and relax. Sadly no GCM cipher works at the time of writing so I just use the AES-256-CBC one. Battery life has improved with this option plus I don’t have any dead connections requiring me to reconnect manually.

Too bad they like to steal money. I used PIA for over 6 years. It had always been a 10/10 experience. Unfortunately, they’ve adopted a business model of theft. Two years ago I bought a three year subscription, an offer I still often receive emails for. When my service expired after two years I had assumed it was just a glitch and tech support would review my payments and add another year. Wrong. I was told they don’t offer and never have offered a 3 years subscription offer. So my third year was stolen from me. Even though my receipts showed I paid for it. Even though I have the emails they sent me offering the sweet deal, and even though they STILL send me emails offering the same deals. I wish I could still use their product, it really did make my life a lot easier. I don’t pay twice for anything and I’m not sure why they think they could tell me they don’t have a three year offer, any single one of their current or past customers knows that’s not true.

Ignore the bad reviews, PIA rocks..!!. There is nothing wrong with the app, their service/support OR functionality on any iOS version. I have tested, monitored and analyzed it's "strange" behavior and there is nothing suspect about it's functionality. It behaves exactly like a VPN sever is supposed to.. I mean really people.. if you can't understand the purpose of using a vpn in the private sector (opposed to enterprise services). Then don't post. PIA is great, one of only two that I trust implicitly to not leak info and responsive to perceived breaches as I'm told. Highly recommend. * just a special response / note to other reviews... 1. If your connected to another country, and understood this concept, take solace when the language changes when visiting a geo responsive webpage swaps out the charset... <#ignorance>2. really defeating all purposes of anonymity if you are visiting such a sensitive account like a brokerage house. Really ?? ++ you couldn't login, huh.. that means that you brokerage has some great host based IDS/IPS deny/drop rules. Just like above, a good sign.!! But for attempting to access sensitive systems while inside an IPSec tunnel ... <#ignorant>Thanks PIA. !! keep doin as u were, thank you for the trips all around the world.. ;)

Updates not showing up. My overall experience withPIA VPN is reasonably good. Its a bit of a cat and mouse game. Websites such as Google Mail or Netflix catch on that there is a presence of a VPN and start blocking you. But then the VPN comes up with an update and it works again. What is at times annoying is that I verify that I can verify that the VPN is active before I go online to provide a layer of security from ad tracking and such, but at some point it disconnects without notifying me. I constantly find my self checking if it is still active and connected. Also, I do regularly update all of my apps in the App Store. But the lates VPN update does not show up in my list of available updates. I have to actually look this page up to find out that there is an update. Why?

App prevents search results.. I have this app for a few years. Does it work? I guess so. How would I really know? I know for sure when it’s on I can’t access my search results. They just don’t come up anymore unless I deactivate this app. Mmm that doesn’t seem to me like it really works. Is it supposed to cause me to not get results from a search? Don’t I pay them to make me anonymous? If I wanted an vpn that prevented me from accessing info from a Google search I can have that for free by just going back to paper searches in a library building. There must be a way to prevent information providers from denying access to information bc you don’t want them to know who you are or track you. But I don’t know what it is and neither does this vpn. Even tik tok makes me do the puzzle match bf i can watch a video when this app is turned on to hide my IP address. I tried express vpn. But these two vpn services are owned by the same company. Mmmm? My advice is if you don’t mind being thwarted from obtaining results from a Google search or de activating the app everytime you search, then purchase this app and you will be satisfied. But why buy it when your searches are useless with it?

Solid VPN. I don’t write too many reviews but after using PIA VPN for a few years now on multiple devices like my PC’s and iPhones I thought I should give my honest thoughts about PIA briefly. If you’re on the fence on what VPN you should use, this should be towards the top of the list if not 1st to try. The price to buy/renew is always fair if not cheap and I feel it’s worth every penny. The VPN has so many features so you can set it up exactly how you want and it’s very simple to use. Once you have PIA installed and going you really don’t have to mess with it and you’re now free to download any movies or TV shows without worry, as well as visiting websites and viewing media not available/allowed in your country. If you need a reliable VPN that’s easy to use, with apps for computers and smartphones and isn’t overpriced, you found it.

Great app maybe a little hard to set up. Update 2017. I like the thought of being "protected." I assume VPN is what it says it is. Recently my connectivity with my own WIFI has slowed. Sometimes brokerage websites won't work as they assume you are conducting nefarious business from outside the country. If connectivity deteriorates, I will reluctantly discontinue. However, I still like the protection. I had this app for 1 year before I got it to work. I an older codger and impatient. But when I was automatically renewed for another year, I made up my Geritol-laden mind to get her going. Once I got the app working on my computer (delay due in part to not realizing right away that the website sign on and the app sign on we're different), the implementation of the iPhone and iPad apps was a snap. Cost is reasonable, speed is great. I have been from South Carolina to New Hampshire with NO access problems. Go get it and be confident.

Literally the best. I’ve tried a lot, like almost every paid and free vpn and PIA has had my back from day 1. The amount of features is outstanding. On top of their strict no logs policy just puts me at ease. I was getting cyberattacks for a while. Dealing with things from fake domains to DDOS, trying every trial in the App Store and on the computer, life got frustrating. I’d tried PIA in the past before and tried the no VPN life for a bit as well. But realistically, you shouldn’t be browsing without a VPN. Others I’d tried had weak kill switches, would cut out after denial of service attacks, and just had too little to offer in the form of encryption. It wasn’t till I came back to PIA and started paying for their services that I felt at peace. Take my word for it, Private Internet Access is #1. Take advantage of their amazing yearly deals as well! You won’t regret it!!!

Suddenly stopped working. I have been using PIA for well over a year on both iOS and Windows and have not had any problems. Up until now I would’ve gave it 5 stars. However, all of a sudden v3.6.1 stopped working for me on my iPhone running 13.5.1. At first it wouldn’t connect, it would just spin and now will not allow me to login citing an “SSL error, secure connection to server cannot be made.” Deleting and re-downloading, switching SSID’s etc has not fixed this. Outside of the app not working, my big issue is with the nonexistent costumer support. Initial triage of the issue from PIA was basic. I was told to escalate my ticket since all options were exhausted. So the Development crew replied hours later but showed how they clearly did not read my issue at all from the trouble ticket. If you explicitly state that you do not currently have service and are operating strictly from WiFi as well as you are not able to login, the first two “troubleshooting techniques” should not be “switch to data, or switch from openVPN to WireGuard.” The PIA app still functions on my Windows 10 notebook, but when you pay for services, you expect it to function as stated. I will not be renewing with PIA and will move to ExpressVPN and pay the extra money unless this can actually be rectified.

Keeps kicking me of iPhone data connection, and cannot log into account to cancel subscription.. Hi. I have been having trouble keeping a data connection on my iPhone using your service. I narrowed it down to you VPN by resetting the phone to factory settings. Only PIA VPN caused the issue…this over several months and a couple of iPhone version updates. I tried to login to my account on a desktop and on my iPhone using 4 different browser programs, and cannot login. I keep getting the email to reset my password successfully, but it never works to log me on. I wished to cancel my subscription. I had years of reliable service, but the last few months have been awful…besides the PIA VPN kicking me off my data connection, I cannot even log on to manage my account. Thanks for your help in resolving this matter.

Great VPN, Lots of great features and all at an affordable rate!. I have recently started having a need for additional protection as I have began running and operating my business full time. With all the vital information and locations we have it’s more than a requirement to have a VPN. So far it is great as it has all the features you would want and need including a dedicated IP of your choice, split tunneling and the host heat levels of encryption. This is also super user friendly on both my desktop and my phone. Did I mention you get to connect 10 devices and they have over 50,000 servers worldwide?! Their competitors can’t even compete. I would recommend this to anyone as personal use or business use. If I could give it more stars I would!

Solid App few improvements needed. Overall PIA is a solid VPN and the iOS app is better than most. I do find it does not wake from sleep well and almost always requires reconnecting on long sleep sessions from WiFi only iPad. Speeds have consistently been much better lately with less drop off from IP provided bandwidth. Personally I would like to see a notification when there is a connection issue rather than having to wonder whether the website I am trying to reach has issues or the VPN is in transition. Might be an iOS limitation though. I will say PIA has excellent performance with OpenVPN but again that app lacks the notifications I would like to see. 5 connections at one price solid value IMO. A piece of advice for those rating some of the apps 5 stars, make sure you do a DNS Leak test because some of the apps are merely an icon giving you a sense of security.

Works great!. I'm not sure what's up with all of these bad reviews are about it not working. You have to wonder what version of iOS and iPhone they are using and if they are jail broken. Have they performed basic troubleshooting? Hard resets, etc? I'm on the latest version of iOS 10.3.3 (at the time of writing this review) and using an iPhone 7. The connection quick and responsive, it's showing the proper IP when testing. The app itself is pretty straightforward and the workflow is nice. I love the dark theme, thanks guys for that! As a software developer I have come to love dark themes greatly. I have used PIA in the past and they've always been easy to work with and very stable on my desktop. First time using the iPhone app, but so far so good.

Improvements made continually. Quite some time ago, PIA on iOS was pretty painful with many disconnects and issues where I couldn’t disconnect from my VPN unless I did it from the Settings app. However, they’ve gotten so much better. I don’t receive these disconnects, dark theme is awesome, they’ve finally (I believe this year, 2018) added letting you change encryption settings, and they have working OpenVPN! One thing I’m not sure about though, and this may be an iOS issue, but I have a suspicion when doing OpenVPN on WiFi isn’t consistent. Meaning, iOS will show you’re connected to WiFi and your vpn, but your actually doing all your data transfer over LTE. So it lies about that. Again, this may be an iOS thing but I’ve stuck with IPSec for that reason for now

Paid for full yr & access was denied after 2wks. I tried this out for the free trial and decided why not go ahead and use it. I paid for a whole year subscription and after two weeks it denied me access. I emailed the customer care about the situation and they could not fix the issue! My card was fully charged so I decided to ask for a refund! I deleted the app not being able to use it and thought that the company would credit after however long it took! To my surprise I got an email close to the year is over stating I needed to renew or my subscription would be canceled! I looked into my credit history and I never got a credit like how I asked after they couldn’t solve a simple issue! The customer support isn’t the best as you can tell! I would not recommend this app to anyone! Even after I got the last email I reached out again asking why I was charged when I had canceled from the start. Of course I never got a response! This company is a thief!

Buy from someone who’s product works and they support there product !. I purchased this about 7 months or more ago and the first three months all was great ! Then I started having connection problems with my iPhone and my laptop and turned to PIA Support team for assistance ! They sent me an email about a page and a half of configurations to do to both my phone and my laptop and it was so technical I had to research how to accomplish the configurations . After i finished my VPN has been totally USELESS and I CAN NOT get a response from PIA Support as of yet . My advise to anyone is to buy elsewhere and I really have a bad taste in my mouth for APPLE supporting them by selling this crap on there site and NOT reprimanding them for there incompetence and lack of support ! There is better out there and I’m going to resort to the change as soon as possible and again I advise to stay away from PIA no matter what APPLE says about the product because they are NOT the ones having to deal with the issues this program has ! Good luck !

My router NTP failed for some reason last night. I was trying to figured out what was the issue, so I decided to change the PIA VPN password right at the moment my whole network decided to crash, hence the NTP no matching my local time, then my PIA VPN password didn't match, it was already very late for me, I was beyond frustration so, I disconnect my modem and router and I went to bed, of course after I sent like 5 different tickets to PIA VPN TEAM, I guess hoping like someone will answer my tickets in like 5 mins, right. I may say, I'm very happy with the PIAVPN team, they asked me few questions about my account, they fixed the issue right away with the account not able to log in. Thank you guys.

Simple and private.. This app is dead-easy to set up, it is effective, and doesn’t sell your info to 3rd parties. Fairly priced for a yearly subscription across I think five of your devices. Supports Apple App Store Family sharing. Plus it now supports WireGuard, the latest VPN open source technology. This will eliminate most if not all difficulties people may be experiencing. Settings > Protocol (1st option, change to WireGuard instead of openVPN). I don’t use the net without this, whether at home on WiFi or on a public WiFi or using cellular LTE. (AS always be wary of public WiFi. No VPN is perfect. And practice USB cable hygiene 😊 and never lend your cable to a stranger in, say, an airport. You may get back a different cable, with hardware alterations allowing you to be pwned.)

Good before latest update. I’ve been using PIA for years, but when iOS 16 was released, PIA has had MAJOR connection issues. And now with this latest release, it won’t stay connected at all. Whenever I set my phone down and it goes to sleep, EVERY SINGLE TIME that I pick it up, PIA is either disconnected or will start to try to connect after disconnecting itself, eating my battery and heating up my phone. Then I have to go into iOS settings and do battle with the VPN settings in a no win to get PIA to connect and stay connected. Sometimes it says it’s connected, but I can’t reach a website, the App Store, Gamecenter, or anything requiring internet access. And don’t get me started about leaving my house when my phone automatically switches from WiFi to 5G. If I want to use Waze for example, Waze can’t find the network because PIA is blocking it because PIA won’t connect won’t like it did seamlessly two years ago. So I have to pull over and do battle again through iOS VPN settings just to get PIA to work. It can take FIVE MINUTES. This is such a disastrous update. And my subscription just renewed last month. There are better options out there, and I might ask for a refund. Fix this abomination of an update please. FYI, I had to disconnect PIA in order to reach the App Store to write and submit this. The proof is in the pudding. FIX IT.

Not the same.... I’ve been using PIA for the last 6 years with absolutely no issues on any of my devices. After I had learned that PIA was sold and did some of my own research on it. I decided that I will cancel my subscription and let it laps when it ran out. I put the reasoning why I cancelled within the process. Ever since I cancelled my subscription I’ve been having nothing but connection issues. I have not changed anything with my devices. No settings have changed, the WiFi service has not changed yet PIA is always disconnecting and reconnecting. Again, I recommended PIA to everyone for the last 6 years and had absolutely NO issues. As soon as I cancel it and continue to use it on my last few months, I’ve had nothing but problems with the connection with PIA. I was planning on using the last couple of months until I figured out if I really wanted to continue with PIA or find another service but I think they forced my hand to find a provider sooner. It’s a shame.

Driving me crazy. Seems to work well on my PC. Was ok on my phone for the first couple of weeks. Now it's terrible. Shows VPN symbol but when you try to download email or a webpage it just doesn't load. Go to the app and it says it's connected but no data flow. It seems to lose connection every time I move from one cell tower to another. But I have been sitting still for half an hour with good cell reception and have had to toggle it off and on four times. It even routinely stops sending data when I'm home sitting 8 feet from my wifi router. And I bought a 2 year subscription a month ago after an exhaustive search for the best VPN. Not to mention the fact that it seems to randomly connect me through Romania when on automatic setting. Needless to say lots of American websites block that access.

Good, reasonably priced VPN option. For about $5/mo PIA provides reasonably fast service with a great variety of global servers. Connecting from a rural area where broadband seldom exceeds 8mbs, PIA thankfully decreases speed only by 1–2mbs, allowing enough headroom to comfortably stream, voip, etc. Another bonus is that PIA can be enabled across an entire network by purchasing a suitable Flashrouter. While the standard license covers 3 devices, purchasing a dedicated PIA Flashrouter will encrypt all household data: voice, video, and IoT. Only downside is that the company either moves servers around to different regions or relies on virtual servers. The effect, seen on occasion, is that the geolocation tags can become mislabeled thereby blocking certain regionally restricted content. A while back a PIA server listed as Los Angeles was tagged as originating in Romania. Blocked content was easily restored by choosing another region, but it appears a little quirky the first time encountered.

Same problems persist after years of use. PIA constantly has problems connecting, problems staying connecting, and problems using WiFi, instead of LTE. I’ll be connected to WiFi and start PIA, at which point I’ll be connected to VPN over cellular, instead of WiFi. PIA insist that this is just a display bug and I’m really connected to WiFi, but speed tests and prompts to authorize apps to use cellular data indicate otherwise. This “bug” has been an issue for years now and it doesn’t seem like they have any plans to fix it. If you want a reliable VPN that actually does what it’s supposed to do, look elsewhere. Edit: I just went into settings and disabled cellular access for PIA to force a WiFi connection and got a notification stating that there is no wireless connection available, even though WiFi works fine when PIA is disabled.

Excellent. Never had a problem. Has been my go to VPN for the past 2 years. Awesome service ever since 👌 Update: to all the negative reviews out there - there’s a ton of options to tweak to make the connection more stable. In fact, this is the only VPN service I know of that offers 3 different options (IPSec, IKEv2, AND OpenVPN). EXPERIMENT!! Not all Wi-Fi is the same. Try changing the connection options. IKEv2 is usually the most stable with OpenVPN coming in second. With the latter you can even change the port number. Maybe stop complaining and actually try to do some research. I’ve had this app for over 2 years and it’s never failed. And for those very strict environments there’s always the official OpenVPN app with preconfigured PIA profiles for literally any situation. And before you ask - I was NOT paid to write this or am getting a discount. I’m just sick of reading reviews from people who seem like they’d rather complain than explore the myriad of connection options this offered by this service /rant

Unhappy. I bought this product at the end of May and had a lot of trouble with my email. Found out through customer support that “Private Internet Access blocks outgoing SMTP servers to prevent our service being abused to send spam email.” I can request to be placed on a whitelist in order to send email and there are some requirements listed. Among those requirements are being a customer for six months or longer. Six months? I will be the first to admit I am not that knowledgeable when it comes to technical fine points of the web and I’m not sure if I fully understand what the problem is. What I do know is I have to turn the app off every time I use my email. Kind of defeats the purpose. Also not happy to find out that I needed to request my refund of the two year subscription within seven days of my order. My bad, I guess, for not remembering that detail or responding fast enough when I noticed the problem.

A great service with a horrible iOS app. Constantly disconnects, freezes, crashes, and even connects me to a server on the other side of the world making my connection extremely slow. This VPN service works great on Windows and MacOS, but on iOS (in my experience) this VPN service is one of the worst, which is a shame because the company who develops and distributes this service is amazing. In it’s current state though, I just can’t recommend it. Hopefully this is fixed in the near future, but if every update makes this app worse and worse, then I’m tempted to just cancel my subscription and switch to a service that has a working app. I have tried switching to different protocols, I’ve switched to different ports, and I’ve switched to different encryption methods (in the case of OpenVPN), but nothing has worked. I’ve even uninstalled the app, reset my iPhone’s network settings, and reinstalled the app, but that didn’t work either.

When is this getting fixed?. Update Aug 6: the latest fix indicates you have a secure VPN connection (e.g., East Coast); however, when you check with IP locator it shows your real location and IP. Therefore, it looks protected but is not. Typically, it will show as Resolving while the indicator shows a secure VPN connection. This is misleading and a false sense of security. ----------------- While this service works reasonably well on desktop PCs, its performance on mobile devices is not acceptable. Several recent updates including the most recent update on July 26 has made a bad app almost an unusable app. This is especially true on older iPads. PIA needs to post an update as to when they will fix the constant drops and errors indicating resolving negotiation issues. I have to reboot my device every 30 minutes to keep the connection going. The app so far has gotten worse with every update. PIA needs to consider offering 1 month free or some other compensation for all the issues once they get this app fixed.

Connection problems. At least once every two days VPN disconnects, my cell phone reverting back to LTE even though Wi-Fi was the preferred connection method. When this happens my iPhone Sierra app hangs. When I access your VPN app the “red circle” continuously cycles. Sometimes I can simply kill VPN and restart to get VPN back up again. Other times when this doesn’t work I have to switch Wi-Fi bands (2.4 GHz to 5 GHz or 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz) along with recycling your VPN app to get your VPN locked on and the red cycling ring stable with its green ring. This problem has been continuously occurring since I purchased your VPN app a few months ago. I am beginning to lose my patience with this problem. If you state this is “normal” operation then I will terminate our contract and try another vendor’s VPN app. It seems the only stable (if you can call this “stable” connection is through Atlanta, Georgia. I reside at Port Charlotte, Florida.

Connection Issues. I don’t know what you guys did on this new update, but now it’s a huge struggle to connect on iPad and iPhone. It’s try...try...try again, over and over and over hoping it will connect. Switching regions is till a 50% chance it will catch. On my Mac Pro it’s produces slow buffering video streaming even at 100mps speed, slow website loading on both Safari and Firefox and major connection issues on iPad and iPhone. Huge disappointment to a customer of 3 years. Sending “slow speed complaint” for the last 3 years weekly has not improved the service at all and is getting very annoying now. This new update put me over the edge to look for a better service. My one year is up in a month and will be looking for a better provider. **UPDATE** Since the new Mac update recently, everything is running beautifully...connection is flawless on Mac. Connection speed is faster, disconnection speed is also faster. The new design is great and have had no problems with this new Mac update. So CHEERS to the nice job. What ever you did to the Mac update needs to be done with iPhone and iPad update. Connection problems still arise when connecting to Canada and Mexico on iPad and iPhone even after iPhone PIA update. I use them because of the lower MS numbers. Thank you for fixing the Mac issues. Here’s hoping fixes will come to iPad and iPhone issues.

Was Great, Now Broken in 2.2.1. UPDATE: After the update to version 2.2.2, connectivity issues seem to have bern resolved. Bumping up to 4 stars. Original review below. I've been using this app on my iPhone for several months now and had no issue until the dreaded 2.2.1 update. Now the connection drops if I let my iPhone sleep for a couple of minutes, and I have to toggle the connection on and off multiple times a day to get it restored. Worse yet, losing connection to the VPN also causes me to lose connection to the internet as a whole. And finally, it seems to disconnect my iPhone from my Apple Watch, which causes the watch's battery to drain much more rapidly as it struggles to connect to the iPhone. I love this service and have no issue with it on Mac or PC, but the iOS app is broken. Please fix this so I may continue to enjoy what was a great service.

Most dysfunctional tech company ever. Do not buy this! While the VPN itself has some nice features the company behind it is a mess. The first order I placed apparently went through but the pass through link was broken so I never received confirmation or the login information. It appeared as though it crashed. A couple weeks later I had time to look at it and ordered it again. Big mistake. The reset password feature is broken, their online chat is literally non functioning, they don’t follow up when you submit a support ticket. The form itself is so outdated it’s not even possible to communicate currently version. The only reason they respond was because I went to Facebook and all I got was an email that confirmed I had an account but still no help. So three weeks into a subscription and lots of frustration I still can’t use the VPN on my other devices. Spend the extra money and choose a company that is established. The tech reviews don’t take into consideration whether the company itself is competent

Long time user/ long time frustration. You know, I really wanted to like this app/ service. It’s seemed to have everything that I wanted. I love the integration with desktop and iPhone. The problem I have is that on iPhone it constantly disconnects. Even when I traveled outside of the country the app was telling me that the closest servers were the ones at my home destination. It didn’t even try to update. Something is clearly broken on the backend. It will not stay connected for more than 10 minutes on iPhone. I am constantly having to launch the app, turn it off, turn it back on, wait for to connect just to browse securely for another couple minutes before it disconnects. I have tried every combination of rebooting the app, reinstalling, etc. It is just plain broken. I’m regrettably on my second year with the app, but will not be renewing my membership.

Great App, Widget Needs Improvement. I’ve been using PIA and the associated iPhone app for a few years and I love the service! My one issue is with the widget for the iPhone Home Screen. At first glance, both versions of the widget present you with a large, color coded power button which one would reasonably assume indicates the status of the VPN connection. The issue is that, at times you will glance at the widget and see a green icon and think you are connected to the VPN but opening the app or pulling down to open the notifications screen will reveal the service is actually disconnected. Not sure what the issue is here but I would certainly love to see this corrected in a future update. Thanks PIA!

Good app for your iOS device except.... You cannot turn the darn thing off! So it’s installed on my iPad but I can no longer use it to watch my streaming services! Every time I turn the VPN off, it automatically reconnects! I get why that would be an important safety feature but for the love of cats man- why can’t I enter my password and turn it off, so you’d know it was a legit request! If that’s against “best practices“ then you need to warn people! Also, if you email them with a simple question- ANY QUESTION actually- expect it to take 2-4 weeks for these jokers to reply. Oh and this is AFTER they have your money too! LAME! For an internet based company, I expect more! Again, good app, but needs tweaking (or at least a warning that says, “hey you can’t ever turn this darn thing off- unless you uninstall!”) and *seriously* needs some help servicing customers.

POS update. Update for 2.2.2: The app STILL isn't working right!!! I think that all they did is to make the app give a fake report that you're connected and forced it to secretly keep manually auto connecting with no outward indications!!! Essentially they fixed nothing, just hid the issue! The app clearly shows connected with 0 indicated throughput, the settings page says it connected... but in the settings itself it says *NOT CONNECTED*?!? I have screenshots of all 3! PIA is also refusing to credit me back for any time their app wasn't working saying I'm not eligible because I renewed in June yet they broke it AFTER I renewed?!? Apparently PIA is hiding in shame by just recently ending their live chat support and actively DELETING reviews critical of their obvious intent to keep charging/taking days off your subscription even though their app doesn't even work!!! Look at their canned "responses", so the newest version doesn't work with the newest beta iOS or *any* older versions of iOS? Uh, what other versions of iOS are there?!? That's literally saying the app isn't iOS compatible at all!!!

Never seems to stay connected for long. The first issue I had was that this app just chewed through battery life. I had to change the VPN protocol from OpenVPN to IPSec (based on past feedback) to fix that. But this seems to make my connection unreliable, whether I'm on wifi or cellular. Before the network manager options were released, my internet would just stop working randomly - typically after 15-30 minutes - but my phone would still say it's connected to wifi/LTE and the VPN. Presumably this was the kill switch engaging. Now, even with the option to "protect all networks" enabled under the network manager settings, my connection still cuts out just as often as before, only this time it just drops me from the VPN entirely and doesn't even attempt to reconnect to it. Sure, it doesn't totally kill my internet, but it basically renders itself useless.

So far so good, after uninstalling and installing again. Has worked flawlessly for several years. During that time, I used several iPhones while always maintaining latest iOS and PIA app versions. Then, suddenly several weeks ago, regardless of Wi-Fi/Mobile Network connection, it began disconnecting the PIA VPN, yet allowing Internet traffic, even with KILL SWITCH activated. Ugh! So, I took a chance today, and uninstalled app, then installed again. Left PIA install defaults, which were same as my original settings. So far, it seems fine. However, not enough time has passed to be certain. So, I’ll update the review, if deemed appropriate. Love PIA. Only flaw is occasionally it will not connect with my dedicated IP but will with all other regions provided by PIA. Still have the occasional issue with KILL SWITCH on but app not connected and my public IP revealed. Ugh!!! Frustrating. Windows app works flawlessly. Just the iOS app with latest versions of everything kept updated still has the random disconnect issue even with KILL SWITCH. So, that is the reason for four and not five stars. Support is amazing whenever issues arise. Quick to respond and assist. Hope they can figure out the KILL SWITCH issue soon. Thanks!

I used to love this product. I’ve been a subscriber to PIA for 2 or 3 years now and this year, I’m going to let my subscription lapse. I joined PIA because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, and for a time, I was in agreement. The iOS, Windows, and macOS clients were all dead simple to use and I even had the private IP subscription to eliminate all the annoying CAPTCHAs sites like Google throw in your way. Now, however, it seems like 50% of the times the latency and speeds are completely unusable for even the most basic of web browsing, making it so that I have to turn the VPN off to even be able to browse the web sometimes—which defeats the entire purpose of paying for a VPN. Additionally, while the desktop apps have gone relatively undisturbed, the iOS app has gotten buggier over time. The switch doesn’t always line up with the status of the VPN and the widgets are completely worthless considering all they really do is open the app and sometimes but not always display the current connection status. Additionally, in a recent update, there’s a live notification always living in the Dynamic Island with the PIA logo and a connection status symbol with seemingly no way to disable it, which gets incredibly annoying. I wish I could enjoy using PIA like I used to, but now I have enough grievances now to where I’m ready to move on. Hopefully these issues can be fixed in the future.

Was good but no more. I purchased this a year ago, and it was great. It worked well, didn’t slow anything down and most web sites were compatible. However AFTER I was charged the renewal fee I was denied access. The app indicated my password was incorrect, so I requested a new password, then it indicated the subscription expired and no access. I have made 3 (three) requests through the ridiculous click for assistance, explained the problem and gotten no assistance. I received a few emails about we received your request we are working on it and one that they have high request volume.! Well yeah your app now is terrible. I am going to request a reversal of the charge, remove this awful ripoff of an app and find a new VPN. It is sad when you think Finally someone has gotten it right only to find out, no its just another tech company who cant accept it when something is working.

Constant disconnection issues. After times of inactivity, the VPN disconnects, probably to save bandwidth. This would be fine, except it needs to be manually restarted regularly. Not only that, but when switching between wifi and cell service, the VPN is often unable to connect for a few minutes if it had entered this inactive mode, which is exceedingly annoying. Bandwidth-wise, I’ve never had a problem, and there is a large selection of locations, and it’s appreciated that the program is open source, and the rate is quite competitive. I’ve never had a problem on desktop, only on my mobile devices as described.

#1 pvpn. Works great and very cheap for the yearly subscription use it at home a lot so my nbn carrier can’t send me all the unwanted ads I I recommend to purchase private internet access than all the rest of them works super fast never had any issues with international servers buy this one speaking with experience and extensive I.T background

Doesn’t do geolocked programs. Some programs like Disney plus are geolocked. This VPN is great, but can’t help you there. Also some telecoms are taking the long bat to VPNs, and the more distant the server, the more difficulty you will have with the set up.

Best VPN I have ever used. Well worth the small cost when you get so many features and flawless operation. The only VPN I feel completely safe using. No speed issues when I use the recommended site.

Used to be flawless now temperamental and inconsistent.. 3 years brilliant. The last few months really poor. Disconnects at random. Shows green status but do not allocate an IP. Have raised a case and just a few basic try this try that. Now I have accepted this state of affairs and have become a manual resetter. Not happy but that is what it is.

Works as expected. I’ve been using the app for a number of years now. Great user interface, the VPN is fast and works without issues

It's easy & works. I've been using this app for a long time now and its been great. The app is extremely easy to use, it works well, and never gives me any issues. 5 stars from me as there's nothing to gripe about!

PIA. Thanks guys for a product that actually works flawlessly at a competitive price. Advanced configuration is a bonus. Tried AVG (what a nightmare) Nord wasn’t much better than that atrocity. Keep up the good work. Jason M

NEVER STAYS ON ANYMORE. I have been using PIA for many years now and it has always been reliable. BUT NOY ANYMORE. It is NEVER ON!!!! Why doesn’t it stay on???? I find my self now having to turn it back on manually before I do anything online and even then, it will turn off while I am in the middle of doing things!! I will be changing to another service now. And unbelievably I had just had my bank account debited for another years subscription just a few months ago, just as it was all turning to brown pudding and being a waste of money 😡

Best of Best! GOOD. Never thought I will replace my former VPN. Discovered the very best VPN. And very good Customer service. Replies immediately. Best of all very very very fast connection. Will make another review when I go home to my home country. They have servers over there. Can’t get those with my last VPN. Was very expensive to buy DEDICATED IP. I am really satisfied wit PIA!

Poor unusable VPN and support. Was with PIA for a few years but in the last 12 months the VPN service has become really bad. Constant disconnections, slow speeds, when you choose a particular location to connect to like the Netherlands you instead get the USA (tested with multiple locations with same results) & the support was just terrible. Support would answer you and even ask for screenshots but PIA says the constant connection issues rendering the service unusable is normal for a VPN service. Moved on to ProtonVPN. Fast, stable connection and fantastic support. Much more secure too. Don’t bother with PIA. A total waste of time and money.

best on the market. I have been using this brand for a for years now. Constant and reliable. I had trouble with my new iPad and new 5g service so I contacted them for help and within 40 minutes they were in Touch with me helping me out. I would only recommend this company

Don't bother. Found that whenever I tried to Google something it was constantly asked to verify I'm not a robot and was askingme over and over and I not end up able to getting my Google search. Like I would check the I am not a robot check box then be forced to do the “select which pictures show a bus” and it would sit there and stay on that even when there were no longer any bus pictures to select. It would ask me more 3 times to check the check box and do the picture to get to the 1 search I had done - so I wasn't able to get to my search and that was even when I played with relaxing some of the security protocols. Luckily it was in a trial so I cancelled it and went to a competitor and found it far better.

Works extremely well. It’s great. I had to play with different settings to get around my work’s blocking of vpns, but I tried all the variations until one worked. This is about my third year of paying the subscription fee.

It’s the best. Been using it for a few years now , never lets me down and when there is a problem the customer service is the best I’ve had for anything, def won’t disappoint

Best VPN I have used. I’ve tried a lot of paid VPN’s, and PIA is the most reliable with great features. I especially like the virtual port forwarding so I can torrent at a good speed (other VPNs block uploads). I also use the ‘split tunnel’ feature so my frequently used apps can bypass the VPN. If you buy it on sale you keep the sale price perpetually.

Very Helpful !. Been on PIA for about 8 years. Works well and rarely a problem. Whenever I’ve had a problem or enquiry , they’ve got back to me quickly every time….. only small criticism is there are too many Captchas required.

Geo Block NOT gurenteed.. BE WARNED - Have had PIA since 2018 and recently I have been Geo blocked from a popular music streaming site in the USA (I’m Aust). When PIA was questioned on why I cannot access despite there site saying it can Geo Block their response (Quote) “Some large websites place blanket bans on VPN use.” Even their “Smart DNS” can not guarantee Geo block prevention. Nowhere on the PIA site can I find this information I found out through PIA online chat, that conversation went downhill when I pushed back asking where on the site can I find this clause? - no response. Feel lack of disclosure here is a breach here of Aust consumer laws?

Works like they say it should. I’ve been using this app for awhile and it just works. That’s the best compliment I can give. It works like they say it should works like they say it would and it’s easy; super easy.

Extremely Useful. Setting it up on the devices is easy. I use it often as my work sometimes goes thru unsecure website

PIA. I have been using private Internet access for several years now. I find it very very easy to log on and off of. It works very well and it causes me no problems at all. If I could make one complaint probably more of an observation, It seems a little expensive. Despite this I have no thoughts of changing to a different provider

After many years with PIA - I’m finally done. All of PIAs servers are blacklisted on every site - whether it’s a streaming service or a cloud provider you’ll end up being spammed with Captchas if you google something or being pinged as being geolocated elsewhere. The app also has some serious issues with Dedicated IP (of which I pay additional for). Sometimes it will disconnect and then it will spam my iPhone with a “VPN Connection” prompt asking for my password. If I click “cancel” it will pop up milliseconds later, essentially locking out me out of the phone, or me having to fight against the constant spam until I’m able to eventually make my way to the PIA app and “disconnect” the VPN.

Current version very broken.. The network management tool wants to disconnect you when you’ve got it set to connect when on various networks. I’m constantly enabling the VPN manually because of it. The versions without the network management tool were more reliable and stable. Edit: I’m now using the beta. V3.0.0 network management tool seems to actually behave as I had the tool configured to behave. Next version should be sweet for everyone.

VPN goes stale, connected but dead, so they removed the traffic indicator.. *edit* the options for OpenVPN, using UDP seem to keep the connection live. FaceTime calls stay connected, instead of flaking out after a few minutes, and streaming audio livecasts on webpages will keep playing, rather than require a disconnect cycle, and page reload. Still, would be better if the connection rate indicators could return. —————— Great example of removing the indicator of a problem, rather than fixing the problem. It’s always been an issue with the PIA app that the connection would go stale eventually, showing that it’s still connected and attempting to route all traffic over the connection, but not actually having a connection to PIA’s network. Opening the app just shows it hung on “resolving IP address”. Previously, you could at least see that was happening, because the up / down traffic indicator would show zero each way, so PIA removed the traffic indicator. Face, meet Palm.

private internet access..... I’ve been using PIA for over 10 years now and don’t think they get enough credit for the service they provide. Thanks guys, much appreciated 👍

Good but.... I’ll give 5 stars because the app does what it’s meant to and lets me do what I need it to. However it does seem to freeze up now and then forcing me to disconnect and reconnect maybe after a few hours of use otherwise top app would recommend to others even use PIA on my laptop.

Best VPN Out There. I’ve been using PIA for many years. Your VPN provider should promise ‘No Logs’ and by the way, most of them keep logs. If you don’t know what ‘No Logs’ means, consider that there’s no real point to using a VPN provider that keeps logs if you’re interested in privacy.

PIA advocate. PIA mmmmm simple to use, provides a layer of protection you might take for granted until a major intrusion is affecting everyone around you while you continue doing your thing uninterrupted! That’s got to be worth something right? I still haven’t worked out how I can use Netflix for free?.

OpenVPN support. Thank you guys very much for adding OpenVPN support in the latest update! I moved house and the network there somehow blocked IPsec so the timing of this update was incredible. I tried a lot of other VPNs on iPhone but also wanted one that supported AdGuard Pro. Now I have the perfect combo. Thanks again! Edit: Awesome! Custom DNS is just what I needed, I'll renew my subscription as it was expiring this week.

Horrible, do not use. The iPadOS version just logs you out and deletes your login details, including your dedicated IP settings. And as the dedicated IP token is separate, not linked to your login account, when you re login, you still have to re enter that dedicated IP token, and if you lost that token, there’s no way to retrieve it, basically, you lose the service you’ve paid for. If you try to reach customer service, they’ll just blame you and tell you it’s your fault.

Works effortlessly but prevents connectivity sometimes. I leave it turned on so it’s there if needed. Sometimes though, using mail program or internet, it prevents what I’m doing. I use iPhone 11 Pro Max. I think there are workarounds but way too complicated for the ordinary person like myself. So when something doesn’t happen like I expect (mail, searching for a website), I just turn it off. Then I have to remember to turn it in, but so far it seems to be working okay. It puts me in a location other than where I am (as it is supposed to) bit this means that when searching for stores as it brings up ‘nearby’ stores in another State. But if it protects me, I can live with these issues.

VPN. Might be a little bit more $$ than other vpn’s but the user friendly access and effectiveness with 10 devices at a time make this the best VPN on the market for your devices in my opinion.

Excellent VPN. Have been a customer for over 5 years never had any issues and service has been excellent. Works seamlessly with all my devices and updates regularly. Allows all geoblocking to be unblocked and is value for money.

Really disappointed. Hello PIA developers, Been a long time fan of PIA, which is why it’s all the more disappointing to see the state of the iPhone app and the lack of acknowledgment of issues with the IOS application. In case it’s not clear from the most recent comments your app is broken and unreliable. To see updates coming through to the application is good to see, but made totally useless by the fact the application is broken. Have you(the developers) actually tried to use the app recently? I’ll save you some time. It works sometimes but most of the time it’s connected and no internet traffic gets through. I signed up for a year subscription because of the excellent reputation and past experiences I have had with PIA. Seems as though though this was a waste of money as the app simply does not work. Please do not try to pass this off as user error or device specific issues. Tried on 5 different iPhones using different configuration and different access points. Let me be blunt.... YOUR APP IS BROKEN. Please get it together. Based on what I’ve seen we won’t get any acknowledgment of this issue but at the very least this has allowed me to vent my frustration. Expected better from you PIA.....

DISAPPOINTMENT. I put this app on my iPhone and shared it with my husband. We had nothing but trouble. It stopped us from researching the internet, receiving messages, phone calls and internet banking. I deleted the app and all our issues where resolved. I spoke to Apple advisor who gave me excellent advice. Thank goodness I’m with Apple as they have their own ways to prevent hackers. I was shocked two days ago when this company withdrew $65 from my account after I paid for it last year and came to realise this wasn’t a necessary app for me. I tried reaching out to their customer service and even that wasn’t satisfactory. I’m a pensioner and this company should be ashamed of scamming people like me. Do NOT PURCHASE THIS APP AND DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Great VPN. I’ve been using Pia for over Two years and have extended my subscription. Works well on all my devices. Looking forward to them adding more competitive features in the future

Will keep using.. Works well and regular updates ensure security have had no issues and will continue to use.

Great VPN. Been using this for years, it’s good value and does the job for me especially when I need an extra security. I like that I can have multiple devices and it’s ease of use. I do wish that I could watch Optus sports as they seem to detect that I’m using a VPN. I’d u can fix it this will be a winner

Latest update for iOS , won't work again..😡. Just did the latest update of Pia vpn in iPad, and it refuses to connect here, despite deleting and reinstalling from several sources. Nothing. stars? guess I have to give one to get a mention.

So easy!. I had always thought about it but never had a reason, until I travelled overseas and had to "keep mum happy". The install was fast hassle free and affordable, be aware they send you login details straight to your email so when you enter your email make sure it's correct. Thanks for supporting Linus tech tips!

What happened?. What happened to the dark theme given this is all about a visual update?????? Also why does PIA VPN stop working after a while (around an hour or so) in that no internet access is possible from any app even though the whole time the internet was being used. Also happens overnight when using in the morning????? It all looks connected and fine, but go to the app and it shows (at least in the previous version before this horrendous update) zero up and down activity and then shows “resolving ip” yet it never resolves. You have to turn off and on again PIA or aero plane mode to get it to reconnect!

Get it!. Great product! Works 100%! I’ve never had a problem on desktop or mobile and value my privacy!

Works like a charm. I’m very glad I purchased this. Only thing I’m annoyed with is that I didn’t buy it sooner. Everyone should value their privacy in this day and age where everything we do is tracked and sold off to whoever will profit from having our info.

No real complaints but a couple niggles though. I’ve been a subscriber to pia since 2016 and I couldn’t be happier. I remember asking for instructions to setup up apples mail app to send while connected to a vpn so i wouldn’t have to disconnect and reconnect all the time. I remember asking for instructions as to how to perform the setup. I have a decent knowledge of windows and iOS, but like a reviewer said, and I will say the same, it’s lost on me. The last few months I have been using the app a lot more. I listen to a certain uk sports radio app. I was connecting through the uk streaming servers. But when it should buffer the audio, it doesn’t. So I have to stop and restart the stream frequently. So I switched to using the Southhampton servers, and I have no problem at all. So it kind of defeats the purpose of connecting to the streaming servers, if they don’t work as intended. That unfortunately is my only gripe.

Good but sometimes gets stuck. Good app overall when it works. Easy clean interface unlike the Windows desktop design. However the VPN connection sometimes gets stuck which I move to a new WiFi area. It will just stay at “connecting” forever and it would stop any internet connection during this time. I can’t turn it off even from the iPhone settings.

Glitchy. When it works you forget it’s there, but it fails constantly and I need to manually switch on and off or try a different server in order to rectify 0kbs up/down. Also doesn’t seem to work with the Facebook app on IOS. I have to connect via Safari...weird. The wait time to “resolve IP” at times is interminable, particularly when coupled with the luck of draw to get a working server. Disappointed as it works fine on my MacBook.

The app is broken. It says it is connected but it isn’t. You think you are safe but your not. Makes it hard to trust this app now. Make sure you check that ‘VPN ID’ is displayed and don’t just go off of the green button. Also check the phone shows the VPN label at the top of the control centre. I’ve been with PIA for years and it is a great service which is what makes this even more disappointing that it can’t detect there is a problem.

Quality VPN you can trust!. Have been using Private Internet Access VPN for two years now and have to say it’s been great! Very easy to use both on the laptop and when using the Phone App. Minimal security captcha instances and an abundance of server locations! Highly recommend! Great price point too!

Easy once setup and use. It took some time to get used to the settings at the beginning but once it’s setup everything is just in a reach of press of a button. Have been using it since 2018 and excepted some intermediate dropout when the internet connection is poor yet usually very stable.

Is it just me?. Never Stays On, yet doesn’t prompt me like, hey, use this channel. I am not a tech nerd. So it may be my network plan (Aldi doesn’t have same range as Telstra, and I am in the country) but it doesn’t seem to stay on for long on my phone. I download the product on my computer and I keep having to change the password email. I am on an old iMac, it just doesn’t quite seem to be able to comprehensively work there. It may be that I’ve done something wrong but it would be good to have service staff contact me and help.

Years of great service. A product like this is not noticed at all when working perfectly. I’ve been using PIA with all my mad stuff for years. It works perfectly at full speed always. I simply do not notice it exists. Perfect product and service. Pricing is great. Highly recommend

Disconnects without warning. Keeps disconnecting without notice, leaving me vulnerable. Not cool

Good app. Easy to use and decently affordable

Stupid new update!. Ever since the last update that PIA decided to product users with the known public WiFi, it’s become drastically difficult and slow to connect to these public WiFi (coffee shops, subways, shopping malls.. ). Please either find a way to make it easy to connect or remove this mechanism. If I want to use these public WiFi to input any password I will turn you on myself, don’t hold a candle to the sun for me!

Rapport qualité prix. Rapide et pas cher en spécial

As advertised!. Works like they say and does what you want.

Do not fall for free trial. Tried this for one hour, didn’t work for my needs, freaking nightmare trying to get my money back. They just keep saying that it’s cancelled and will just run out the time I paid for, supposed to be 30 day money back guarantee, I have absolutely no interest in keeping it, total con!!

Worked Better Before. Sometimes it glitches out on iOS and won't connect automatically. The auto connect settings aren't good, I switched to surf shark and they work soooo much better. PIA use to be my go to, however their app needs some serious work for iOS.

Excellent. Been using it for years and it’s worthy. The price is a bit high

Canada.

Works well!. Reliable vpn

Great app. Been using this service for a decade. No issues.

Great vpn. I use it all the time on pc and on mobile and it doesn’t take much resource’s on pc for games and stuff and doesn’t slow down internet at all and no ping increase 👍

Well done getting better. Good product and reasonable price

No way to canceled web subscription. I buy one month subscription via their website. They keep billing me every month. They don’t respond to canceled my subscription. No way to stop them. They just need your money, stay away!

PIA VPN. Super VPN et efficace partout en voyage

Constant disconnections. From Canada, PIA service is quite poor. It never stays connected to any server for more than 5 minutes.

Stefan. This is prolly one of the best VPN I’ve used. Amazingly effective and gorgeously reliable. Thumbs Up!

PIA has been sold to sketchy israeli company. PIA has been sold to a sketchy israeli malware company Do not trust it anymore

Private Internet Access. My preferred VPN. Easy to use and works well.

Works well. I’ve used PIA for several years and it works well. Worth the money

Gotten really bad lately. First, with the iOS update it would turn off access to the internet until you turned it off. Turn it on again and then it blocks again. Months of not being able to use it. Now when I turn it on there’s a pop up saying it will monitor everything I do on my iPad. I don’t want that. The reason I use a vpn is because I don’t want to be tracked

Great app. Very reliable. Never had an issue

Blocks internet sometimes. The network gets blocked altogether randomly. It’s fixed by reconnecting VPN or disconnecting VPN. It’s annoying because you miss messages because you are offline. It happens 2-3 time a week.

Something is wrong. Won’t allow me to open and sign in. I cant get it to open on my iPod. Worked before

Used to work great. Now it blocks all traffic or is unbearably slow. I’m done with this garabage.

Nice thing for the rv!. Get this app!

It continuously fails. And I have to reload input user name and password on my MAC

Great tool!!. Great to use and easy too!

Dead easy. I hate anything complicated. This was stupid easy to set up. I love it. Told all my friends about it, which I only do if I love something.

Great app. Great app, even better service

Great protection. Great service. Does what it advertises.

Keeps cutting off wifi. Randomly cuts internet connection completely. You have to go to the app and reconnect.

Easy to use so far.. WIFI keeps dropping on IPAD.

Great, Reliable VPN. This is a solid choice, and you can trust that they won’t turn over your data. I recommend PIA to all my friends.

Completely broken. I’m on iOS 17.2, iPhone 14 Pro. The app died on me today and I have not been able to make it work. Tried everything - wifi, no wifi, uninstall, reinstall. Thanks for the good times, good while they lasted. Time to switch providers.

Terrorists Flag. Terrorists flag appears twice in the app images in the App Store. Will cancel the subscription and delete the app.

Can’t connect anymore. Haven’t been able to connect for weeks through this app. Works on PC.

Best vpn I’ve used so far!. Super simple to use, doesn’t bother you while working, excellent prices. It can be a bit slow sometimes but all VPNs experience slow downloads at times. Always room to improve of course.

Inconsitent. Now you see it now you don’t. It’s your money…

Save your $$. Garbage VPN, slows your connection to a crawl. Don’t buy...repeat, don’t buy this app

Amazing Vpn. Great vpn, that you can use for anything.

Owned now by a shady company. Quality of connectivity has dropped and it’s now being owned by a former Israeli company known for malwares. I canceled while I was able to and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

PIA VPN. User friendly, intuitive learning, fast, fair comparable pricing

Gone down hill. Some stupid pop up on the home screen about allowing live activities but nothing absolutely nowhere tells you what this it does! Pia just keeps getting worse and worse, when the subs up, im moving on, enough of this time wasting already.

Major issue since last update. With latest update, there isn’t a way to turn off the VPN. This is a major problem. The previous version was much easier to turn off. I can’t find a solution in the support site. You can make a change in settings, but the change will not take place until after it reconnects, which won’t happen it there is an Internet access issue. Please fix this or provide a solution in your support site.

Worth the money. Been with PIA for years and will be for many more!

Full featured VPN. Has all the features you need and it’s great that they don’t keep any records!

Great app, smart features. Great app with amazingly steady connectivity, never lost access to internet unlike other apps. Useful settings menu with easy access. Although wish it had the same options as in the desktop application otherwise great app. There have been some connectivity issues in other countries like UAE and India

Extremely buggy since update today. When it’s connected there’s no internet access and it won’t disconnect.

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. It is great...when It works!. This app has potential. It automatically selects the fastest servers and has an ad blocker at the server level. The problem is the app will disconnect but still say it is connected. When this happens, you will have no network access and none of your apps will work. I have reached out to support numerous times. They say the issue is with iOS. Yet when I use the OpenVPN Connect app, it magically stays connected. So I think the problem is this app. Support seems to be helpful, but they don’t really resolve the issue. Maybe when the app works and stays connected, I can give it a better score. Until then, I can’t recommend this app if you want to keep your VPN connected all the time.

Easy set up and works. I thoroughly reviewed available VPN programs and apps both free and not before choosing PIA. I have used PIA for over a year. Works flawlessly on my Windows 10 PC, my Surface Pro 4, my iPad Pro and mini, as well as my Samsung Tab, Kindle & iPhone. I purchased so could use on several devices (wonder why) and no problems. Also help rapid and useful although have only needed once. Recommend to anyone because works so well, especially traveling and is easy to set up on all devices.

The Best of The Best. With so many VPN companies in the market, making the right choice can be a daunting task. I’ve tried a few of them, however with mixed reviews. Most did not deliver what their advertising promised. Today, in my family, PIA is installed on all our devices - iPads, cellphones, and our PC’s, and whenever we are away from home, in shopping malls, or traveling abroad through airports and hotels, we have confidence, knowing we are being well protected with PIA. It has never let us down.

Good, with some reservations. PIA has been useful to me and seems to be a good value. I like the added security and the lack of any apparent slowdown. The only issue is that, on both an iPad Air 3 and an iPhone 8, the tunnel gets hung fairly frequently (at least every other day). When this happens, the network becomes inaccessible, even though I have a solid Wi-Fi or cellular signal, or both. Disconnecting immediately restores network access, so it's no fault of the ISP or carrier. Reconnecting the VPN through the app fixes the issue generally. I'd like to not have to regularly manipulate the app - it should just do whatever it needs to in the background. Still, I'm overall satisfied.

Connectivity Issue iOS. I’ve been using this VPN for a few months now with the one year subscription, in the beginning it was Awesome and worked seamlessly. unfortunately now my connection issues have gotten worse and worse after time my iPhone/iPad says it connected to the network, However, the VPN connection is not and trying to connect to the server which is very annoying/frustrating and do not connect thereby I have to connect it manually after having both set up to automatically connect to this VPN, furthermore, as I move around the hospital which is where I work having a steady connection it’s constantly disconnect and then try to reconnect without any success which results in me having to reconnect manually all over again. Please fix this issue, Thanks for your Diligence in resolving this issue!!!

Stay Away - Charges Non-Existent Sales Tax. Stay far away from PIA. Since they were acquired by Kape, their service has gone down hill. Also, for folks who live in State’s that do not have a sales tax (Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, & Oregon) double check your bills/invoices if you sign up. You might find an unexpected charge/line item being included. As a Montana resident, there’s no sales tax in this State. However, PIA charged a 10% sales tax. When I raised a support ticket, all the support chat could tell me is “Yes, we have confirmed with the team that there is a sales tax in Montana”. I currently have a support ticket open, that looks like it’s stalled out since the support staff apparently cannot deviate off script, and we loop around the same two responses. Yes, they were willing to immediately refund the purchase + tax, but the bigger issue is their payment processing software is configured to charge a 10% sales tax in a State that literally does not have a sales tax. So until they get their billing issues straightened out, I would recommend staying far away. Today’s PIA is a far cry from the PIA I knew and loved prior to the Kape acquisition.

Disgusted. Avoid! Despite PIAs general reviews as a decent VPN service, they double billed me for 9 months. When I alerted them to this fact, they refused to reimburse me. When I asked how it was possible to bill someone for two subscriptions despite both being on the same email address, they said that sometimes people like to have two accts with same address. I had simply tried to retrieve a login for my (single) acct, not understanding that this is the only business I’ve ever heard of that allows customers to sign up twice on the same email address without alerting them to the fact they are setting up a second subscription. They are refusing to refund me and their customer service is atrocious based on an email only ticketing service. I am not an experienced VPN user and they have exploited me. I am disgusted.

So far so good and Family Shared it is. Recently signed up for the initial trial period and finally conquered the “Family Sharing” option with my spouse as we vacationed away from home and along the traveled route utilizing WiFi services as we found them. PIA was always on and working throughout with no apparent choke on overall speed noticed anywhere. I will continue my trial and as it stands now, will be a new customer of PIA. I’m pleased that there has not been a litany of technical hiccups to solve! I’m a user not, a IT professional.

Service. Hello I have few issues while connecting to VPN. When I have emailed them about the issue they have responded well with the issue and helped me in sorting out the problem through email contact. Am happy for the service. I would recommend them one thing while making a complaint on the form while filling the details the form cannot take the details directly it taking time to select the drop downs. I hope you can fix this. Thank you!

Solid VPN. I’m pretty new to VPN services so I don’t have much experience with other providers but PIA does a great job at providing stable, and fast servers. Overall my experience has been great! Though there is one feature that is sorely lacking that would streamline the whole process. A control center quick on/off button, and a widget would really make things nice. The problem I’m having is that the process of opening the PIA app and doing a manual toggle on and off is rather annoying. You have to minimize the app you’re currently in to go open that, then return to your other app. A quick swipe up and click would be amazing!

Best VPN hands down. I am just now starting to use the iPhone app but I have been using this service for a couple of months. Considering myself to be a savvy shopper I did tons of research before selecting PIA as my provider. It all pointed to them being a top notch provider of VPN services. After subscribing I have to agree that they are the best. The configuration options stand out as well as the number of servers and locations around the world. The inclusion of socks proxies is a nice touch. Working in IT I can think of no situation where you would not be able to incorporate the use of PIA into your setup. With wire guard, ovpn profiles, anonymous socks proxy, etc. even if you cannot use the client, the functionality is there. Thank you PIA for providing a world class VPN solution for a reasonable price. ## Funny. The app just asked me for a review after I had already written the review above. Just an update, PIA is still the best VPN. ## -satisfied customer

Great for Small Tasks. I have 6-VPN’s combined with a proxy that I have programmed/configured to jump at 7.85-seconds (this is the lowest I can go without adverse reactions) allowing for a secure environment. There’s other tricks-of-the-trade that I won’t mention here; I’m a Cyber Security specialist. PIA for yourself and your children is great. They offer an array of options and allow you to configure it in the ways people who need this service appreciate. The GUI is easy and straightforward. I highly recommend it for people who aren’t hacking (legally) and simply want to maintain a sense of security.

Ugh.... Do you like having to constantly open an app and toggle a switch off and on for your phone to function? Then this is the app for you! I seriously have to toggle VPN off and on 10 times a day in order for my phone to connect to a network. I've done all the troubleshooting steps with support, uninstalled/reinstalled and updated the app and this behavior continues. When it actually is able to stay connected, it works great, but that's only about 20% of the time. I've had very few problems on my desktop, but the mobile app is pretty lousy. Maintaining my privacy online should not be this difficult... And, for extra irony, I had to toggle it off and on AGAIN just to post this review.

Simple security!. I don’t think you can find a VPN with a more simple user interface, and the fact that you can set it up to kill your connection if for some reason the VPN shuts off or looses connection. PIA is always on sale and it’s literally a few dollars a year, other VPN services who’s name rhymes with bored have had the servers hacked and a LOT of people where left with compromised security. PIA doesn’t keep records of your connections, I use it a lot at work to access my favorite sites that the company has blocked lol. Give it a trial run and I’m sure you won’t regret it. Shout out from Southwest Wyoming.

AGAIN 2 separate PIA VPN's in settings??. WTH is going on with a new and separate PIA VPN app configuration being listed in my iPhone settings? I had this happen before, well over a year ago and PIA addressed this stating that there shouldn't be 2 separate app configs in my settings, instructed me to reload the app again to reinstall PIA's settings.. did that and the issue came back only another time so I did it again and since then no issues... until now??? I found this same issue after some kind of glitch caused my VPN connection to flash in/out of green/red connection & disconnection, and it was with every single server to which I'd attempt to connect?! Not only that, the PIA Support listing in the PIA App also was unresponsive to attempt to contact a support team member regarding my issue and makes me wonder if I'm in a clone of PIA and I'm not really connected at all with PIA's servers???I have snapshots and

Good, cheap, relatively fast, good support. PIA is a good, generally reliable vpn. I chose them based on number of available servers in a variety of countries and privacy policy. It will occasionally drop a connection and speed on any server seems to top out around 30 mbps, not an issue for me but maybe for hardcore gamers or streamers, though I stream a lot and never see buffering. But then I don’t care if I don’t have the highest resolution. If that meets your needs, I highly recommend them. No VPN is perfect. I rate apps on how well they suit my needs, so 5 stars means all my needs are met: not that it is perfect.

Good product, disgusting customer service. I purchased a yearly subscription to PIA VPN 3yrs ago and enjoyed it. I let their subscription lapse after the year and finally renewed it last month. While I can use it on my phone, I can't use it on any other devices. I have gone back and forth with customer support and have sent at least 5 emails, each time I have received a link to their FAQ page with follow these steps. I have followed the steps as stated with no resolution. Uninstalled, restarted phone and re-installed several times and nothing works. After a month of going back and forth I am giving up and requesting a refund. PIA is a good service, if you can get it to work. This is why I am giving it 2 stars. If my rating was based on their CS it would be a negative 5 stars.

Used to be good. PIA VPN used to be a good, reliable VPN service. Not anymore. I used to recommend them, but now I tell others to avoid them. First, they’ve allowed their iOS app to slide down the toilet. It disconnects numerous times a day, everyday. You’ll spend more time sliding their vpn switch over & over just to maintain a connection. They seem to have abandoned development of their iOS app, so you’re out of luck. Second, the VPN service itself has gone bad due to restructuring how they handle IP addressing, so when you think you’re connected to one location, you’re actually not! Due to this issue, their VPN service has become totally unreliable. So far, PIA has refuse to address this serious issue or address any of the communities questions & concerns. I can’t recommend them anymore.

PIA can no longer be trusted for privacy. PIA is finalizing its deal to be acquired by Kape Technologies which has a long track record of using malicious software to track its users and has a deplorable reputation regarding privacy, which is exactly what one expects and requires from a VPN provider. A simple search online will provide a plethora of articles relating to this matter and that PIA users are abandoning the service in droves. Please be smart with you data and your digital life; PIA can no longer be trusted with it. The app itself as well as the desktop version are also unreliable programmatically: always crashing and refusing to reconnect to the service even when the auto reconnect option is enabled. The VPN kill switch does not function properly if at all.

Very frustrated!!!. This vpn is extremely frustrating. It is constantly disconnecting, shutting down my wireless connections. First, I had issues with my laptop. When I got that resolved, then it was my iPad. This von will still not stay connected for more than 8 hours. I am always in the app trying to reconnect. Now, it doesn’t function on the iPhone. I’ve had this app for less than one week and you can be sure that I will be canceling my subscription and going with another company.

Great app but update process is flawed. I’ve been using PIA for a little less than a year now and have been really happy with it. However in the past month I’ve had a lot of issues with connection, to the point that i did not use it at all for a few weeks. The other day just to give it a try i went ahead and uninstalled then reinstalled. This fixed all my issues and it has been working better than ever since. I think there may be some issue with the update process that is causing an updated app to be unable to connect.

Awesome app. I’ve been using PIA for years to keep my network, web traffic, and data secure. It is a must have for everyone. Sometimes a server may have too many users connected and slow bandwidth so you have to connect to a different one but its a minor inconvenience to switch. They have improved their servers quite a bit over the years so it doesn’t happen as often now. I use this on all of my devices from phone, iPad, computers, and even ShieldTV and AppleTV. It works seamlessly across all systems. It may not be the cheapest VPN available but it is definitely one of the best.

Connection drops very frequently. The connection drops have become so frequent they I don’t plan on renewing my subscription. It happens probably once every 30 minutes on average. It started about 6 months ago and progressively got worse on both my iPhone and my iPad Pro. I sometimes listen to news with the Xfinity app when I’m driving, and every time the VPN connection drops it completely cuts the stream and I have to drive in silence until I have a chance to park and re-open the channel. I don’t have this issue with any other VPN using the WireGuard protocol. The issue started around the same time you guys bought ExpressVPN. I don’t know if you’re sharing servers between the two or what, but I plan on switching VPN services if this doesn’t get fixed.

Good VPN but could use improvements. Good VPN that I have been using for a little over a year now. I have two suggestions to improve security and customer satisfaction, though. One, despite having activated the kill switch on PC if you choose to update the app to its latest version it would automatically disconnect you and expose your connection. The logout button is also right next to the settings button. A simple missclick and you can accidentally expose your connection. They should add a warning screen before logging you out

Used to use it, came back because of a great deal. I used PIA a few years back before switching to a different company for a couple years. My subscription ended with them so I went looking for other options and found PIA was offering %79 off a 3 year plan. I felt like it’d be stupid to not do that vs paying slightly more for a 1 year plan elsewhere. Experience is just as good as I remember. (If you want to try and take advantage of the same offer, go to PIA’s website)

Great VPN Company. "I have been a satisfied customer of your VPN service for several years now, and I am continually impressed by the excellent and reliable service you provide. Your VPN has consistently met my expectations, allowing me to browse the internet and securely protect my privacy. The connection speeds are always fast, and I appreciate the wide range of server locations available. Your customer support team has also been responsive and helpful whenever I have questions or concerns. Thank you for consistently delivering a top-notch VPN service year after year.

PIA - havwe concerns, hoping for a fix. I am not an expert, but this app seems to need some work. The connection issues are many- have have increased over the past six months. I am having to toggle the PIA connection off/on several times per day, connection halts randomly which freezes all traffic (forcing me to toggle off/on), and I have been redirected to Russian Google more times than I like. Nothing against Russia, but it doesn't make my most secure regions list. When PIA is working properly, it is seamless. The not working part concerns me. The non working part seems to also concern others. My renewal is approaching, and I am researching alternatives while hoping it gets fixed.

Connection issues. My VPN doesn’t seem to want to stay connected to certain servers that are available or it either just doesn’t connect and it will stay trying to connect but doesn’t seem to get connected. When it does connect, it doesn’t stay connected long, it will then disconnect without alerting me that it has lost connection and I have that feature on so it’s supposed to alert me. Please address this issue and try to resolve it so we can count on the app to provide us security and privacy while surfing/browsing the web. I am a paid subscriber so apparently that doesn’t matter. I’ll update my review once the issue is resolved or I’ll be requesting a refund. It use to work great until the last update or two, maybe it just needs a lil TLC. I’ll give you guys the benefit of the doubt. - 𝓑𝓾𝓵𝓵 𓃒

Doesn’t connect at times. Not that I have the exact count, but about 40% of the time the VPN would not connect on its own. One would have to open the app and tap the connect toggle button to manually stop the app from auto reconnecting and tap the connect toggle again and the VPN will start to work. If you have the kill switch on at least you know you’re unprotected. But if kill switch is off, then you won’t know when you’re unprotected. Then this leads to another issue if you do had the kill switch... not your internet connection is dead. This issue isn’t so bad if it didn’t happen so often, but I found it happens every other day. It happened on my iPad, iPhone, and Samsung Galaxy S8 plus. Please fix!

Tried the rest. Staying with the best. Been using PIA for some 7 years. Do most of the things you want a vpn for and never have any issues or problems with the service. Tried a few others before recommitting both times I had to re up time and was completely disappointed by the experience. Gonna stay with the best. Service is snappy and I lose 20 to 25 percent of DL which is much better than any other vpns I’ve tried. Even if your not losing signal strength the customer service is hands down the best. I’m not receiving any compensation for this review. Kris Texas

First time VPN user. I'm quite familiar with VPN setups, as it's part of my day to day work. However I'd never considered all the benefits of having a hosted and seamless VPN...I was blown away by the performance. I'm located in FL. The app found a server in Brazil that was only 20 ms away. I picked that one for the test. Connected to a VPN that's popping me out in Brazil, and I'm far away from it, yet when I run Speedtest for basic comparison I find higher latency, as expected, but was able to pass 300mbps+ from an iPhone somewhat far from its WiFi access point. I'm amazed. Really great service.

Massive battery drain. In the past 24 hours: 1 min on screen (no background activity listed), but 20% battery use. Past 2 days: 1 min on screen, but 39% battery use. Also, the location list hasn’t been showing ping times for most locations lately (none in the US), and when I checked just now, it wasn’t showing ping times for any location. My previous review (below) still applies, although this is happening less often now. Previous review: Regularly loses VPN IP, stalls “Public IP” spinning-wheel error still exists. If my internet connection isn’t working, when I check the PIA app, it sometimes says that everything is fine, but if I quit and restart the app, it shows that it’s connected but now says “IP Resolving”. Seemingly there is a UI bug that prevents it from updating its status even though the status has changed. Disconnect and connect, and then everything is fine for a while. Also, why do I have to open the app to get it to resolve a connection error at all? It should do all of this in the background on its own…

To Be Perfectly Honest. I’ve only ever used the Mac OS version before as I usually don’t have an issue using my phone for browsing. I recently had the rare opportunity to try the iOS version due to a poor cellular 4g signal. I needed to check msgs from a sight that is blocked by the public WiFi I was using. The public WiFi was so strict I had an issue logging into this developer’s website from the sign-in link. Anyways, it did take a minute but it was worth it. As soon as I was able to verify myself, I was once again in the drivers seat cruising the 3Ws.

Randomly disconnects and reconnects. I have no problems other than slow image loading and random disconnects on iOS. About every 15 minutes I lose the connection then it auto reconnects. It’s fairly annoying because you will just be surfing the net then stuff stops loading. You think it’s lag but sit and wait. Then you finally see PIA and connection disconnect then slowly reconnect. Then you can reload the page. It all happens slowly from the time a page stops loading to reconnect. It’s extremely disrupting. I’m looking for a new vpn for iOS that doesn’t lose connections so often with better speed.

Functionally useless since late 2023 iOS update. Used to work fine until one of the updates they pushed about two months ago. Since then it keeps dropping connect every few minutes so you have to constantly reconnect. Your app used to be easy to use because it was easy to turn on and off quickly amd remained connected, and now the one on/off button doesn’t even consistently work in the app. Truly amazing that the one service I pay you for is no longer functionally offered. No luck reinstalling/reconfiguring either, and support just never responded to my help ticket from like November. Definitely just cancelling the subscription, this is a waste of time and money these days unfortunately

Constantly disconnects and renders services useless. I've been using PIA for a few years on my desktop computer. Just recently I discovered that I could use the same login for my iPhone. However I will be uninstalling and not renewing my service with PIA. For one, the app constantly disconnects on its own (I have the widget toggle so I can see). But that's not the worst part. It renders services like Google and Ring useless. Don't believe me? Enable PIA and use Google image search. Only the first couple rows of images will load. All other images will not load. I also noticed today that it makes my Ring app inoperable. It says "couldn't load your locations" when PIA is enabled. When I disable PIA it magically works again. This is a hard uninstall and cancel of service for me.

Easy to use, great value!. I have used PIA for over a year now on both Linux and apple products, and have absolutely no complaints. The software installs easy. It has “set it, and forget it” functionality, and can be configured to adapt for other apps. I have used other VPNs in the past, but this one has had the least issues, ran the smoothest, and allowed me the most control by a sizable margin. I’ll be getting some of my less tech savvy family to begin using this soon!

Ohhh yeeeah!. Thus far this VPN App has done everything it says it will do for me. It’s keep me incognito 100% when I have it turned on for investing and trading. 100% Im a real user from the south part of the great USA. No issues with it slowing my device down just remember to turn it off when doing normal trusted activities. Some sites are like um you across the world, I don’t remember you lol and doesn’t load. Recommend RECOMmend RECOMMEND YO!!! Not sure if I mentioned it or not but so far it has keep me anonymous as far as I know. Thank you to this awesome project and team for hard work and dedication. Much love to you all!

PIA PRIVACY 101. I have been using PIA on all my devices since 2008, give or take a year. It is the best privacy tool for all my devices and works very well on cell phone service provider networks as well as unsecured WiFi. I use it on all connections regardless where I am. I like the kill switch feature best, which disconnects service if breached on your device. Customer service and support and the software features have improved greatly over the years to make it what it is: a safe and reliable app for all users.

One of the best and most affordable VPN systems. I am a 20+ year career IT professional. Many VPNs collect your data including location, card info, and personal identifying information for data mining and reporting. PIA does not and I implicitly trust and use their VPN which has some advanced settings to select 128 or 256 bit encryption. While signing up they did not ask for my personal information and allowed me to use PayPal or other payment methods ensuring my data privacy was respected.

A work in progress. This is at least my 4th review on PIA. At first, the latest update could not connect. Tried repeatedly, could not connect. But, it also prevented wifi from reconnecting, no matter how many times I tried. Then turned wifi on and off and viola, both wifi and PIA worked. The last update also could not connect. I went until this latest update, which took some gymnastics, to get a working vpn connection. Perhaps the turning wifi off and on would have fixed that version as well. I am totally clueless where all these wonderful reviews come from. I've been using PIA on a Mac for about 5 years and on iOS for about 3. PIA is a work in progress. Seldom does it work seamlessly.

Love it, but.... I’ve been mostly happy with our service. It’s flawless on our phones and the main reason renewing our subscription to the service. However, the results have been less consistent on my laptop. The VPN shuts itself off at any given moment and, at one time, every 90 seconds, rendering the purpose of a VPN moot. Customer service has been exceptional during this time and my Mac and VPN appear to be cooperating at the moment. It still shuts off, but not as frequently as it once did, rendering a severe problem to a mere nuisance.

3 Years of reliability. I run PIA on my surface and mobile device. It’s reliability, ease of use, and continuous innovation make this the best personal VPN I have used. Best value/privacy/performance on the market today. One improvement if possible i’d value is if the mobile icon change from green to red when I am not connected. Certain apps/sites (e.g. DraftKings) require turning off of VPN. Because the mobile icon stays green regardless of connection I often forget to switch it back on. Not the case with my surface app because the tray icon goes from green to grey when disconnected.

Best Mobile and PC VPN client. I have been using PIA globally for a few yrs now on all my devices with a tremendous amount of success. I could not live without it. Knowing my immediate family is safe is a big plus for me. As I traveled to certain countries with restrictive web practices, I was still able to connect back to the US in order to communicate with my circle of friends or watch my shows or get to twitter etc. consider using PIA on your phone, tablet or laptop. My 12 yr old understands the protection PIA offers and uses it on her iphone always.

Great VPN. Love the VPN, the problem is when go on a site that doesn’t like not knowing who are they won’t work. Apparently if you don’t give up your name, address, phone number, social security number, a drop of blood you can’t you that site. But if you value your privacy this is the VPN to use I will never use Google again, they did not like me not give up where I live jerks but Microsoft edge, Firefox, go duck go are all search engines that don’t care if you don’t want to give we’re you live.

Version 2.3 update. While there may have been some changes under the hood that were needed, the changes to the interface weren’t. Why move the regions to a separate page? Why remove the data up/down counter display? You’ve added a tap were one wasn’t needed and removed information that was useful. My experience with PIA has been that it frequently quits working. It appears to be connected, shows connected in the app and shows VPN in the top left of my ipad screen, but no data is flowing. I used to be able to flip to the app and check the data up/down counters, if they were both at zero it was a pretty good indication the vpn wasn’t working. Now I don’t have that. Previous to version 2.3, when you opened the app, everything was on one screen. Now you have to go to a second screen to view stuff that use to be perfectly viewable on the first screen. Why? The changes to the app wouldn’t matter if I didn’t have to flip over to it every 10 minutes to reset the vpn. If all I had to do was turn the vpn on and it worked I wouldn’t mind, but that’s not the case. I’m not sure I’d recommend this app anymore. HC

Great App. This app does what it says and has worked well for me for a few years. I can’t say it’s been perfect and I understand that it can’t always be since it’s encrypting data. Current functionality is great but I give it four stars because more would be great. I would appreciate something that actually pushes a notification to let me know that I’m experiencing a problem that has to do with the VPN and not the website I’m visiting or if the website is known to have issues with/blocks against VPNs. That way I can’t better trouble shoot slow/non loading pages.

PIA Review. This vpn service is great I’ve been using it for about 3 years now and I have no issues with it, it protects my data and from cyber threats, I think the kill switch/advanced kill switch are great features implemented so that you don’t make a accidental slip up when playing video games or browsing the internet, they also support Linux with a app client which I have found only few vpn service providers that support Linux distributions, overall great vpn I give them a all around 5 stars. Keep it up PIA

Seems awesome when it works..... I want to give PIA 5 stars, and it works wonderfully when it ...works. The issue for me is that more often than I believe it should happen, PIA will not connect, will not resolve a secure ip, or will connect apparently but still not route traffic properly. I’m not 100 percent sure of the real technically specific underbelly of this VPN, but something doesn’t always fire on all cylinders. When it does connect and work properly, the speeds are great and don’t heavily waste bandwidth. Also, I primarily use it on my IPad and switching VPN types often works as a workaround, if I want to work that hard.

Works well for the price. This product is a good example of getting what you pay for. The software works well for the price. It’s pretty inexpensive compared to other VPNs but it’s also a bit more glitchy in my experience. I frequently have to restart the app and mess with the settings because I’m not able to access the Internet (even without killswitch enabled). I also have this problem with PIA on my laptop so I know it’s not just my phone. However, when it does work and I’m able to connect, I like having the confidence of knowing my internet connection is secure and protected.
