Unusable. “Not aware of any bugs” says the Help. So at least there are jokes. Crashes when you just look at it sideways. Says it supports importing a PDF script, but when I use the share menu to send a PDF to the app, nothing happens. The help scrolling has a mind of its own. Generally, the app is clunky and unintuitive. There has to be a better option. Also, it appears you can only have recordings for the lines. A complete line learner app ought to also support entering the lines as text and then playing them back using speech synthesis.

Best of your options, no subscription, one big thing to watch out for-. This imo is the best of the line learning app options available. Pro- nice options for leaving gaps and pitching voices up and down is a good touch. BIG pro- no subscription, just a one time cost (sadly a dying breed of app). BIG CON- make a absolutely sure you put your scene breaks in correctly ON THE FIRST TRY. If you record and then try to change the scene breaks IT CANNOT BE DONE. The only options is so move hundreds of already recorded lines around the scene breaks which are set in stone. New scene breaks cannot be added into already recorded lines. So if you miss your scene breaks the first go round, you will NOT be able to change it, and you will have to deal with a giant block of lines so sift through every time you want to work on a specific bit.

Incredibly helpful. Very glad I found this app. Makes the memorization process much easier. The UI could benefit from some streamlining. But overall a definite thumbs up given its functionality. Thanks for making this app.

Fantastic!. I’ve gotten so much use out of this app! I love that I can record two or more different characters’ lines in my own voice, but then change the pitch so it doesn’t sound like my voice anymore (in case no one is around to record the other characters for me). But it also allows you to export your recorded lines to a friend so that they can add in their recorded lines too. My favorite feature though is the ability to add a gap after my scene partner’s line plays, so I can try to say my line. Then after I say my line, the app plays my recorded line so I can see if I got it right. I’ve been using this app for over a year and have never had a problem with it and have recommended it to all my classmates.

Import. Import function is the least intuitive and very annoying to do and does not work. So upset I wasted $4 on this.

Love this app. This understudy felt lost without it. I'm feeling better now. Two large Shakespeare roles to cover.

Awesome for actors. I started using this app a year ago, when I had to learn a two-hander show in 2 weeks. Helped me enormously! I’ve used it on every show since then. Works WONDERFULLY! I usually learn off the page and in rehearsals - this is such a welcome addition to memorization. Now I can walk around and run lines with earphones - do housework - walk around the city - run lines in car with Bluetooth - great for sitting in traffic! Interface takes a little time to learn - but WORTH IT - and many options for playback - other character line then ‘gap’ where you speak your lines - or other character, then gap, then recorded line (my favorite), other options as well. And speed thru capability for fast ‘Italian’ run. Also great for monologues - just break it into chunks/beats and record each as ‘separate’ line. Works like a charm. Also app developer has been very responsive with any questions & suggestions. Everyone should use this! Get off book quicker and easier!!

I didn’t get it at first, but then I realized it’s fantastic.. It takes one or two tries to get used to LineLearner’s style, but once it clicks (by treating it like a line-reading partner when you can still refer back to the script) it’s an amazing tool for running lines and memorization.

Extremely useful but clumsy navigation. This app has been a lifesaver! Very simple and intuitive to use. However, if I have a lot of lines to learn, say for Sidney Bruhl in "Deathtrap," I run into trouble. "Deathtrap" has hundreds of lines and navigation between scenes becomes clumsy. The section links don't work, at least on my iPhone and iPad. I have six scenes in two acts and the section links either take me to scene 1 or 2 of first scene or to a blank screen. As a result, in order to reach the later scenes I have to scroll though all previous lines and scenes which becomes frustrating. A useful update would be the option of opening up and collapsing down scenes to their headers by tapping the header. Otherwise, a wonderful app!

Just buy it. I’ve been using this app for years, and it just keeps getting better. Every new feature I’m like, “dang, that is a good idea!” Not just for actors, if you need to memorize anything - a speech, a presentation - you need this app. It’s nice that there’s a trial version, but trust me, just spend the money and get it, worth every penny.

Pretty good. Except it keeps disconnecting from my Bluetooth headphones. I switch to another app and they connect just fine, but as soon as I switch back to linelearner the connection vanished. It's a little weird walking around with your own voice playing out of your phone. Also, the send feedback button just kicks you out of the app. Otherwise pretty good. Slight learning curve as elsewhere mentioned, but you'll have that with anything.

Awesome App!. I just downloaded this app today and I’ve already recorded an entire show that I’m in. Controls are intuitive. Features are exactly what you need for learning lines. Best four bucks I’ve spent in a long time!

Useless app. Crappy, difficult to use. Interface is not clear. Never really was able to figure out how it works. Save your money. Just tape your lines with sound gaps on the voice recorder that comes with the iPhone.

Great app for actors!. This app is fun and easy to use! I use it anytime I need to memorize a script!

Good idea - BAD execution.. This app could be so much better if the set-up was more sensible. The buttons and options are frustratingly vague and non-intuitive. The instructions are bloated. Moving from recording scene/playing scene/ editing/adding characters/playback options takes multiple trial and error, even after using the app several times. Options are ok, but hidden in a maze of swiping, toggling, and drop-downs. Too much time spent navigating the app than rehearsing lines.

So Helpful. I’ve been using this app for years! It’s so great and has helped me on hundreds of auditions at this point. I have one request though! DEVELOPERS- please add a feature to loop whatever scene the user is currently in. This will make the app so much more helpful. I usually want to get off book one scene at a time and end up having to run all of my scenes at once. Thanks :)

Not easy to import a script. I wish there were a way to import the script and tie it to the recording. I learn by both ear and sight. Looking at a long PDF doesn’t cut it.

Lots of Good, Hampered by a Huge Bad. There are a lot of things to love about this app. But IMO, it's hampered by the fact that you need to create scene (or rehearsal blocks) on the fly, while you are recording the lines. There doesn't seem to be a way to easily create a new scene mid recorded script.

Great App - Reasonable Price. I recently had an opportunity to use this app to help me readily memorize my lines for Juror #8 in "12 Angry Men" (Peter Fonda's role) -- that's a lot of lines and cues. The app did the job superbly! Very easy to record and manage your lines. Very easy to re-record my lines to shorten the gap once I became more familiar with them. Highly recommended to any actor who's friends and families are tired of reading lines with them. I also coach young performer's community theater and am now actively recommending this app to our young actors. I used to record my lines and cue lines with Garage Band and then load it onto my iPod -- a serviceable, but far less versatile means for learning lines. This app is so much more versatile and flexible (offering features such as re-recording, managing separate scenes, playing "silence" instead of your line when desired, and a "prompt" feature). Thank-you for creating this app!!!!

Indispensable!. I’m always the first person off book. I know other actors’ lines (my cue lines) better than they do. I tell other actors about this whenever I can. It is a nearly perfect app. I would only improve the speed control. Give is decimals instead of a slider. 1.2, 1.5 speed, etc.

Actor’s BFF - even in the UK!!. Love this App!! I have been using the app for years & have been able to rehearse solo prior to an audition to even before walking on set. I’ve even used the pitch (which I love) to change the vocals so if it’s a short audition, I can just use my own read. #winning When I studied at Oxford earlier this year, I was telling all my fellow actors abt it - then lo and behold in our Masterclass, our instructor sang its praises as well. Well done app!!

I wouldn’t spend money on this.. The app doesn’t have many helpful features and I personally don’t feel like it helped me memorize my lines. I wouldn’t recommend this app.

PDF script import did not work.. Clunky app. PDF script import did not work. Two stars bc the app developer did email me back to offer help.

Poor instructions. The app works, but the instructions are extremely hard to understand.

Great but slow. I would normally give it five stars but it downloaded really slow and I can’t get it to work I think it is great just slow.

Fred in SC. Really a nice app. Easy to use, very beneficial for solo practice and great user interface. It makes learning lines a breeze. I even use it in my car with the Bluetooth connection and learn while driving. Great support too, even on issues Loosely connected to the app. I recommend it. UPDATE--I'm producer/director of a community theatre and use line learner for myself and my cast- it's really great and very easy to use. Had an issue with my new IPhone 5 and Peter Allday worked for many hours into the night and had it fixed by morning. You just don't find this kind of customer service anywhere. unfortunately very glitchy. the all just stopped playing any audio. shutting it down and reopening does not help. was working fine before, but is unfortunately unreliable.

Pitch Tweak. Such a great little app! I've used Line Learner successfully for years now and it does a great job. There is a feature that would really help: if the playback for the "Others" lines could be tweaked with a voice-changer pitch control then I could record both my lines and others quickly and play it back and have it sound like two different people doing the scene. Right now I find it best to have someone else record others' lines--often someone not in the show-- but doing it myself is quicker and more in context. As it is now, my own voice on both sides (especially in the early part of the process) can be confusing. Thanks!

Great, easy to use app for memorization. I’m a professional actor and I use this app almost every day. The interface is not super self-explanatory, but once you understand it, it is incredibly easy to use. You can play back with a gap for your lines, you can prompt yourself, etc. I often record a scene partner and use them as the other side, but it’s also great for when you need to run lines and you don’t have anyone around. It’s the best app for memorization that I have found and is well worth the money. No frills, but excellent. Five stars.

Super useful app. Lines, lyrics, stage direction...this app can help you with all of those. Plugging everything in and getting the hang of the small intricate details of this app can be a pain, but it is very much so worth it if you are an aural learner like me. Cannot recommend this app enough!

Excellent. I have been using it for four years. I keep finding new ways to use it to help me at different stages in my memorization of scripts. I’m sure I’ll keep finding new things after this. I can’t imagine doing it any other way as I am not a visual learner. I can use it anywhere anytime to review which I do before each performance. Takes me about an hour to do my lines as lead in a show.

Such a helpful tool for actors. This app has everything I need to memorize lines quickly by listening. I love how easy it is to record the script and how I can change pitches to distinguish my lines from other characters. I use it for every project I’m in and it’s very worth the price, especially since it’s just a flat fee with no subscriptions or ads involved. It’s just a simple tool that works if you memorize by listening. I can now review my lines everywhere I go without seeming like a total nut talking to myself. I also really like how you can choose where to gap the lines so you can start to test yourself more and more. Overall I’m super pleased with this app and it’s a must for actors in my opinion.

Glitch bug addressed!. Everything about the app seems perfect but right off the bat there's a glitch. I can not select the script from the main page and customize the characters (a significant feature). The glitch makes me leary of investing the time to record the script. I've contacted the developer. I'm willing to change the review pending a fix. Update: the developer was very quick and willing to help. Yes, it's a minor glitch but one he was able to solve and says he'll work on the update. This app is the best of the kind and has support as well!

Excellent App / Great Customer Service. I love this app...learning lines with auditory input is so much more efficient. Late last night, I had trouble sharing and saving my extensive work on another device. I e-mailed customer service and the creator PETER got back to me immediately. We exchanged several messages and I am now saved on 2 different devices. And Dropbox. Highly recommended! Thanks, Peter!

Absolutely invaluable. Do you learn lines? For plays or movies or songs or ANYTHING? Then you must get this app. It is the best $4.00 I've ever spent. The looping features are perfect and help hammer the lines home and then, later as you get better, provide elegant options for rehearsing them. Buy this app! Do it now! You will thank me later.

Everything I need. Great app!

Fabulous Program. This program was a lifesaver for me! I like that you can play back all lines or have it leave a gap and then it plays your lines (or even just a gap without your lines). I recorded it on my Ipad and was able to work on my lines via bluetooth in my car and also using headphones at other times. It was VERY easy to use (unlike another I had downloaded and given up on before I bought this one). Much better than just a recording app because of the ability to play back your lines in different modes. I have recommended it to all my fellow performers!

Fantastic app!. I am actually using this to learn Spanish. It is fantastic. Very user friendly once you learn the basics - which doesn’t take long. I record a series of sentences in Spanish and can adjust the looping and the gap for review. So helpful! Also, if I make a mistake recording a line, it it super easy to rerecord and fix it. Since the other sentences are separated out, I don’t have to rerecord all of the other sentences, just the one I need to fix. This allows me to work on very targeted sentences and word forms while I am doing chores, going for a walk, or anything. Also, for $4, it is SO worth it! Thank you so much for this app!

Play back function is not working. I’ve tried restarting my phone and re-loading the app. All other functions work, just not playback. I’ve never had a problem before this. Also, the email offered for support isn’t valid.

Good but could be better. I really like this app. I use it to memorize lines for show I’m in, auditions, and lots more. But one thing that realllly bugs me about it is that you can’t organize your script names in the order you want them to. The app organizes them alphabetically which is NOT helpful at all when you can a bunch of past scripts on there and you have to scroll to get to a script you’re currently working on. Just change that and I’d be completely happy with the app.

Used to love this app; now it’s frustrating.. This app was so great. I used to recommend it to so many fellow actors. Now, it makes me waste so much time. Out of nowhere, the app will start taking a really long time (longer than the usual gap) for the recorded lines to be voiced. The only fix is to power down my phone and turn it on again. That’s time consuming and this will happen randomly in the middle of a line learning session. I don’t have problems with any of my other apps so it’s not my phone. I’m running the latest version. I emailed the developer weeks ago and have heard nothing.

Crashing. App has stopped working. At the load screen it crashes right away and won’t open. Currently on iOS 13.1.2. Update: 13.1.3 fixed the crash issue.

Life saver!. I got this app because RuPaul recommended it and I was going to be in a production of The Goat by Edward Albee. We had a 2 week rehearsal process - so we had to come in to rehearsal fully off book. I am proud to say that I was the only one successfully off book at that first rehearsal!

Been using for years. This app was the app that I would have invented if I were an app maker. It’s as if my mind was read. It’s amazing and does so many things. Download it. I took away a star because it’s quite confusing and not intuitive and feels like there’s a bunch of extra steps involved to do simple things, but it does its job very well and does exactly what I need it to do. The option to select different ways in which the text is played back with gaps or no gaps is the gold here.

Best in Show!. This app is great. I started out using Rehearsal Pro, but the bugs in that program eventually made it completely unusable (although I love the concept of that one). This app, on the other hand, seems flawless. There’s a small learning curve, but watching the video tutorials helps thru that part. Entering in my lines was easy - I loaded up the entire play in about 2 hours - and once that’s done, you have so much power. it’s like they thought of every possible adjustment to assist you through every single stage of memorization. Unlike Rehearsal Pro, you are not seeing the script scroll in front of you as you memorize, and that threw me at first, only for like a minute though. Because it ended up with me learning the lines aurally - only through listening - and not visually (by seeing the lines), which usually happens for me at a letter stage of the process. Nice looping feature so I could also get up and walk the blocking when i was ready. The interface is bare bones - no extra flashy junk, which is better. Simple, effective, light, fast and powerful. Feels like it was designed by actors just brainstorming the perfect way to use handheld technology to help them do one thing, and then get out of the way. Really great job, designers and developers who made this. I thank you profusely for coming up with this and implementing it so well.

Wonderous App!! Can't believe I've lived without it!!. In my last production a cast member recommended this app, and I am so so happy she did. I'm in the process of memorizing Hamlet's lines for a summer show and this app has been a God send. I used to record my lines just using the recording device on my phone, but this app is much much more helpful. I will say there's a bit of a learning curve to figure out how best to use it, but once you figure it out I cannot express how helpful it's been. Especially as I've grown older (early thirties now) I've found its taken more work to memorize lines. But this app is probably the easiest and most painless way I've found. Best used when paired with walking around, doing mindless tasks, commuting etc. All in all, so thankful for this program. 100% worth the price.

Can’t get it off the instruction screen. So…. Totally useless.

Great app, but buggy and could use more polish. I've used this for every show I've been in for the past 7 years. It really works. There is one bug that drives me crazy-- when your screen locks or you go away from the app, when you go back into the app it sends a signal that you're hanging up a phone call (you'll hear the hang up sound) and gets stuck on the line it was playing; sometimes it also crashes. Other than that, there are some UI/UX improvements that could be made, like making it possible to move multiple lines around scenes instead of one-by-one. But overall, this app has helped me a lot!

Has problems. I like to be able to change the pitch of the other lines, so there is a difference between my line and other. I like to highlight/select a few lines and have only those selected lines play or loop. instead of moving the lines to a scene and looping. I would like to save the lines to audio file and email and play pc or ipod etc. I would like to also see the line displayed typed on the screen as it's said. The prompt button should be size half the screen because it is difficult to press it without keeping an eye on it. Most times miss it and press other button.

Some actions don’t work. I found this App quite good with the exception that instructions on editing a script are unclear. I still can’t Delete lines in a Scene despite selecting “Swipe to Delete” There is no “Delete” button in any edit screens? Maybe I’m not looking in the right place, however, the Installational notes don’t help you discover the functions listed.

Easy to Use and Quick Updates. Found this app quite easy to use. Able to manage lines by deleting, rerecording and repositioning. The developer was very prompt in updating it for iOS 7, when a bluetooth transfer error became apparent. Many thanks

Okay…. could be a lot better. Finally figured out how to import the script, but it is merely a display. Does NOT actually import the lines to be used, basically just a DOCX or PDF reader in that sense, and cannot be edited for use in LL. Cannot copy stage directions from script to LL, must enter them manually. Having to record each character’s line is a bit tedious, might be improved by importing an existing mp3 file. i.e. I record the entire play, would be good to import and then edit “breaks” for each character’s line etc, and gapping for your own lines. An adjustable pitch would be nice, so that you don’t have the simple choices of High or Low. Good for multiple character scenes with an array of different character dialogue.

Best thing I. As an actor, I'm always looking for ways to learn lines in the quickest and most efficient way possible. LineLearner is the best thing I've found so far to do just this! To be honest, it gives me confidence in learning lines quicker than any other actor out there! I'll be recommending it to all my friends. Thanks!

Stupid Cumbersome App. Nice idea. But no intuitive controls. How about a delete button? More time soent banging the device on the table than line learning. #fail

An essential. I’ve used this app for 4 years now and has become an essential part of my prep. I get off book from the page then let line learner play while I go about my day getting to hear and say the lines out loud. Play them over my car bluetooth on the way to set. Have even used it as a reader in a pinch for a self tape audition.

I wish I'd seen this before!!. I had an audition today and wish I could have had this while learning the sides. This makes line learning so much easier with the pages out of your hand and the settings are great! Having the prompt and the correct gaps is genius!! Thanks guys. Good app for easy memorization of lines. Used this for all the plays we've done in my theater class, the full version is customizable which helps if there's many characters or scenes. It gives that feeling of rerunning the scene over and over, really helps

This thing is awesome. Well worth the price, although you do have to sit and record yourself reading the entire script before you can really use it 😂 Definitely recommend.

Great app for learning lines. I have used this app for a few years. It is a fantastic addition to an actor's toolkit; I often use it to run lines while my hands are occupied (driving, laundry, etc). The updates are definitely appreciated and make this an even more power utility.

I LOVE this app!. So much better than using a tape or digital recorder. Recording and listening to lines is what really works for me and this app does the job beautifully. I love that I can change the voice pitch of the other characters to avoid confusion. I record and listen in my car over and over again. It really helps me memorize fast. And for the price...there's nothing better.

A waste of four dollars. The interface is totally crappy and confusing. After your line is read, it pauses so you have to keep pressing unpause. It's hard to customize your script and really only works for a script with lines that are said by one person. I tried to memorize my lines but gave up because hearing the other persons lines in my voice confused me and messed me up. It's so much easier just to run lines with a human. Overall, I would only use this app if all the copies of my script were burned and unreadable.

Love it!. I've used this app to memorize lines for a few years now. It's great! I did use a tape recorder, but this is so much more convenient. Can't do without it!

Superb app. I have been acting for 15 years, and have used everything from cassette recorders (remember those?) to digital recorders to the iPhone voice recorder to record and playback lines. Finally, someone has developed pretty close to the perfect tool for learning a role. Line Learner is exactly right, with all the features you could need - it made a difficult role that includes 250 cues and a 4-1/2 page monologue much easier to tackle. No, I'm not a shill for the company, and I don't think I've written a review in the App Store before. This app is simply that good.

Excellent tool for learning lines. If you use the old tried and true method of making two tapes to learn your lines, this is perfect for you. You can record everything once, then playback with your lines to learn them, then playback without your lines to firm up your memory with audible cues. Perfect for anyone who learns lines using audio. Can't wait for an iPad version!

Getting Better But Now Broken. I like the aesthetic changes, as well as some of the functionality improvements. I'm glad the developer hasn't abandoned this app. That being said, there are now aspects of the app that are broken following the update. 1. Bluetooth streaming no longer works. This app made its money because I could rehearse my lines while in the car and now I can no longer use BT, resulting in decreased audio quality through the phones speaker. 2. When the app is open and is minimized, it keeps the red bar at the top of the screen open, as if indicating it is still recording. This happens event in playback mode. 3. I would have sent feedback through the option in the app, but every one I pressed "Send Feedback" the app would crash. Every. Time. Please take this as constructive criticism and take steps to remedy these problems. Thank you in advance.

Please don't change anything!. Sure the layout might be... underwhelming and the menu might not make a lot of sense. Once you get the hang of it, though, it's amazing! Also, you should at least know the other actors lines and what's coming up in case something happens during a live performance. This app had me so well rehearsed that I would hear people say a phrase from the script I was rehearsing in passing on the street, that my brain would automatically start saying the next line.

Amazing tool for drilling lines!. This is a fantastic app- I am a professional performer and it has revolutionized the way I learn lines! No more flash cards or staring at my script- I especially love the new pitch options and multiple characters- it's almost like rehearsing with real people. Well worth the small fee.

Agree with guy before me. Awesome app, but I like the Bluetooth and go back 5 lines idea. But yeah, it's been SUPER helpful to me so far.

This turkey laid an egg. The previous version works fine, but this version is just plain broken and untested. Sloppy, sloppy work!

Reduces time to memorize. I have this in my iPhone and it works great!! My main use is really to cement the lines in my head once I have done a very cursory memorization. I hook it up to my car stereo so I get 70 minutes of rehearsal every day while going to work and back. I had a weeks notice before a play to learn about 20-30 minutes worth of lines and this helped me very much. I am now using it to help me learn Albany in King Lear. This will only be my 3rd play and I would be lost without this app. I highly recommend it!!

Essential. Every actor needs this app. Easy to use, functional, a godsend.

I want to love this app.... ... but it's really janky. At times it works pretty good (never excellent) at other times there are random pauses where they don't belong, sometimes it stops playing halfway through a script and the interface is pretty confusing. Can't remember the last update. This app needs an overhaul.

Essential tool for any Actor - Upgraded to 5 STARS. Below is my previous review and I have to say the improvements incorporated have blown me away. Everything I wanted to make this a 5 Star app (see below), and some that I didn't know I could use! I love the feature that shows you, in a colored timeline exactly what will playback... My line, their line, a pause, whatever! Brilliant. Also, the ability to have multiple characters, add stage directions, and even change the character icon or import the other actors photos is a nice touch. As a working actor, this is an indispensable tool when commuting to an audition. Helps me get in the right space and I can review lines in the car or with my headphones in the waiting room. WELL DONE Previous Review----- I've tried Lines Please and Rehearsal and this beats those hands down. I'm very techie and I've put all three of these through their paces. This is my go-to app for any audition or scene. I love the features, the simple interface and it quickly helps me get off book. For the first time user, an instruction website or in-app help feature would've been handy. Understanding which combo of options in settings have to be off/on, in order to get it to playback how I wanted it to, took a bit of time to get used to. Also I agree with the other reviewer in that an option to review only my lines (without playing back any of the others lines) would be great. I too record a separate script for just my lines. Would also love to be able to control the speed of playback so I can listen quickly or slow down for those lines that are tongue twisters. Add those and it would become a five star app. Lastly, if there could be a way to record/edit titles/import scenes, on & from my PC/Mac (using an mp3 tag editor for example) for those large scripts that would be a time saving bonus to make it a six star app! :-) Highly recommend this app!

Fantastic! (Updated review). Update 3-17-18 This is the best app i have on my phone. I’m so happy to see my other actor friends in Los Angeles using it, and i recommend to all my actor friends who tell me they have trouble memorizing lines. I still use this every week, some weeks every day. Thank you SO MUCH Peter for creating it and adding my suggestions early on in the process. If you learn lines, you must try this app. Lincoln Update: I am in a play in Hollywood and the cast took my advice to get this app. They're all very happy with it. And years after buying, I still use this app BEFORE EVERY PERFORMANCE in the car on the way to the theater to review my lines in a speed through with the app's speed functionality. We're doing Christopher Durang's Beyond Therapy. The comedy is rapid fire, and this app helped me be able to relax and lock the words in my brain so I can have fun onstage. I cannot thank the developer enough. I also use for most auditions and when I book a film or commercial. Driving in LA gives me lots of time to run lines with hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. I love it!!! They just added a sleep timer! It's like the developer is reading my mind! Awesome! Update v6.0 AMAZING UPDATE!!! This update is fantastic and delivers several feature requests I've made over the last versions. Speed up and slow down playback is so great! Recap my lines only- genius! Stage direction addition! The new graphics interface is great! This has been my only line memorization and review tool since I bought it (and I bought several others, but this one works best for me). As a working actor, I use this every week. On my way to auditions in LA, on my way to class, or just to review lines while driving. I highly, highly, highly recommend it. I don't know how much it sells for currently, but I would easily pay $10 for this because of how much I use it and how much it helps me. I'm not just gushing, read my reviews below of the previous versions. I contacted the developer a few times with bugs and feature requests, and he took care of them and has now added those features! I haven't used it but a few times since the update, so I haven't encountered any bugs yet, but rest assured if there are any and you let him know, this developer will fix it. That's a good feeling. Added a star to my review. Well worth it. I'm not sure if the script erasing has been fixed. I would love to see a new feature of SPEEDING UP PLAYBACK for speed throughs to practice lines and cues fast. This would be great. Adjustable speed. I use this app many times a week. Almost every day. I love it. It's still not perfect, but it's the best line memorizing app on the market that I've tried or bought. Great app, really great for line learning and solo practice, but totally needs MULTITASKING!!! I use this a lot while driving to auditions and jobs in LA. I set it on loop, but have to go back and forth to my maps app, and playback shuts off when you exit the app. Please add multitasking so I can keep playback looping in the background! Thanks! Update: Also, you need to able to re-arrange the order of scenes in a simpler way. (This has been fixed:) Holy crap! I just deleted one of my productions from an audition, and the app mysteriously deleted several other productions!!! For no apparent reason! The productions are still listed, but all of the audio and lines are gone!!! Now it crashes anytime I try to open one of the messed up productions! "recover" option does not work!!! Sounds like a database issue.

LIne Learner. This app is awesome. Absolutely a must.

Love this app!. I have been using Line Learner for four years. I act in community theater and can't remember how I learned lines before this app! The app has evolved over the years in great ways. The ability to change pitches for your cast mates is wonderful. I have told everyone in my town's theater world about this app and now the local university's theater department suggests it! Line Learner might even be wondering why their app is being downloaded so often out in the middle of nowhere!

Helping me learn lines. I love this app. 3.99 well spent. I have a hard time memorizing and this app has been really helpful. It’s easy to use plus there is a lot of flexibility in the way it plays back lines.

It doesn't look "pretty" but it works really well!. This app is form over function. When a lot of modern day apps have beautiful UI's this app does exactly what I need it to. My ability to remember my scenes has increased drastically because of this app. - It lets me change the pitch and tone of the other characters. - It has playback speed for my lines and their lines. - It makes recording very easy. Overall a great app.

Great app!. I just downloaded this app on my iPad 2 and recorded my first scene. Well worth the $3.99. The instructional video was really helpful. The navigation is very intuitive. I have a lot of lines in the show and so far, it's recording everything just fine. I hope you come out with an iPad version and allow current users to upgrade. I'll post an update after I've spent some time with the app. Ingenious idea. Just what I was looking for. Thanks!!!

Worth it. I like the app and use it. I appreciate the improvements seen over time. I would love to see an option where I can play only my lines without having to record a version of the script that way. Sometimes I just want to drill my lines without the cues.

Really?. Just purchased this. Recorded some lines for a TV audition I have and when I hit the playback button the recording abruptly stop at random points. I'm not holding it or otherwise touching it. I just press play, step away, it starts fine and then just stops. I do have a new iPhone 6. Don't know if that makes a difference. If so, they need to update the app fast! Or refund people's money.

Now working well.. Initially had a problem with no mic pickup, but fixes by deleting and re-downloading. Really a nice app. Nothing else quite like it.

Oh my, thank you!. Do you know Waiting for Godot? I was “fortunate” enough to be cast as Estragon. He has ~800 lines. This is, by far, the largest part I’ve ever had to memorize. The memorization was made possible with LineLearner. I could not have done this part without LineLearner. I used while waiting for kids, driving, walking, invaluable!

Outstanding. I was a lead in one of my schools play, which meant I had to learn hundreds of lines. I couldn't have done that without the help of this app. It's very easy to maneuver and so worth the money! You can record your lines and others, and it's unlimited. I highly recommend this to anyone in theater, if your learning a script, studying for a presentation, a speaking test, etc. Anything! It's truly a great app, and will surely stay on my phone for a while.

Absolute Perfection!. This app is totally amazing! There are so many clever options to incorporate into the recording. I'm over the moon! I'm preparing to play Blanche Dubois and have to show up for my first rehearsal off-book. With Line Learner, I'm now confident that I'll be able to make that happen. Looks are deceiving. This looks like a great app on the outside. But this was the worst $4 I've ever spent. The recording is difficult and cuts parts of lines off, the microphone BARELY picks anything up and there's no "speaker" option for play back. It's eithe earphones or leaning over your phone so you can try to hear the lines. I'm sorry I spent my money on this. Before I was just using voice memos, and it looks like that's what I'm sticking with. :(

Good App and Excellent Support. There is a lot of versatility in this app. It works for whatever level of memorization you are on. It is pretty intuitive, but the guides are helpful too. Also, when I was having a problem, and I sent feedback, the response was with 24 hours, and he figured out a fix.

Very Good App For Actors!. I've used this app for a little over a year now and find it the perfect aide for memorization. I learn my lines on the street, train and anywhere I can put on my headphones. I'd like to see how they can make it better though.

The best memorization app EVER. If you're looking to memorize efficiently and effectively. This is the app for you. Well worth the $4. It is a must have for every actor or actress. I was having trouble with memorization and some actors told me about this app. I use it multiple times a day. I wish I would have known about this app a long time ago. It is fantastic! The Beat $4 I've Spent. I was struggling nailing down the lines for my latest play and I bought this in desperation. It is an awesome tool to have. It has saved my butt and allowed me to run lines for the last several days without begging someone to read book for me for several hours. I am very appreciative. I've also told every actor I know about this app because I think it is invaluable.

Great app for actors. I found this app to be amazingly helpful in learning lines. Once you have recorded all your lines learning is a breeze. I love the different playback options. You can hear your cues and get prompts. A simple but effective tool to learn lines. Kind of like the old tape recorder method.

Exactly What I Needed/Right Price. I mulled over the line learning apps, and eventually settled here based on the reviews. I am VERY glad I did! I can't fathom dumping $20 on a competing app when this took care of all of my needs quickly & easily. For the price, it got me off book nearly immediately. Finally having the ability to hear recorded lines and follow along while on the bus, or the street, or in the car via the speakers is wondrous. This is a very smart actor's tool! Highly recommend!

Very helpful. This is a really nice simple little app. It's solid and does exactly what it says it does. I have make good use of it. It's not particularly helpful for monologues but for scenes it's wonderful.

Some parts don't work. This is app is ok for basic line recording but certain parts of it don't even work like the pitch change that is advertised. Really frustrating when you're in a hurry :(
