Zero stars. Super bummed about this not working with audiobus. I used this app every day and loved it... Now it doesn't work.. You know.. A month ago I would have given this 5 stars but now it doesn't even work so it gets zero stars... I work in a music store and we sell IK Multimedia products. Maybe I should caution my customers against purchasing if they DON'T WORK. Seriously... iK Media... If this isn't fixed right away I am going to fight for my money back and I will never sell any of your products again. The response your support team sent to me seem fake and generic. You told me pretty much just to wait for it to be fixed. Well I've been waiting and it still isn't fixed. I'm about to drive up to the store and take all of your products off of the shelf. iTunes won't let me rate this at zero stars but that's what it gets

Amazing sound! Needs Copy/Paste etc. So I have bought this app as well as the iPhone version and all upgrades for it. I also have the iRig mic and sampletank. I have a real recording studio with a Pro Tools HD system and am using this for when I'm away and wanting to work and get some ideas out etc. Now as far as sound quality goes this app is amazing and works really great. I love that I can record a quality vocal with an iPhone/iPad and iRig mic. What is lacking here is audio copy and paste that many other audio apps are using now. Also why is the recording function set up like an old tape deck rather than just a simple daw where you'd be able to fly hooks etc.? That being said this is the best sounding vocal recorder it just needs those things to make it really functional.

Good app, shady company. First, let me say this is the best vocal fx app for iOS devices on the App Store. I'm giving it two stars for use of excessive pop-up ads (even with the full paid version) and a rather shady way of presenting the main in-app purchase for this app. All you need to do is tap on the "Studio" icon from the home screen and it asks you to confirm your purchase of this item. There is no explanation of benefits, no pricing given, nothing. That is no way to conduct business and they do now deserve a higher rating based on just a moral responsibility as an app developer.

Distortion?. I can only use the built-in mic at this time so maybe thats why I'm experiencing issues with the sound quality but regardless i shouldn't have distorted vocals when using this app. my vocals sound fine through headphones but distorted when i listen without them. love the effects for the vocals so I would really like this fixed ASAP so I can continue using. I have projects to finish!!!!

New Audiobus update = now a 5 star app. this was already the best app for recording vocals via the ipad. but now with audio bus support, it's untouchable (in the context of mobile recording through ipad). you can't find a better app for vocal recording at the moment. I've recorded 6 full length records on multiple labels, in studios such as paramount and west beach. I primarily use this app for recording ideas and sending them to band mates who tour in different groups. this app + garageband + ipad makes an ideal package for recording and sharing ideas on the go. Great job upgrading the audio bus guys. you are on the ball

3 star app, 1 star company. Like Vocalive for iPhone, this app does what it does well. The effects are quite good. There it is. I have iRig, iKlip, iRig Mic, and many IK apps including, as of today, both versions of Vocalive. My biggest gripe is IK's refusal to incorporate audiocopy/audiopaste. I'm still tethered to my desktop to transfer files, even between IK's own apps! Want to write drum beats for your song in GarageBand or Ratatap? Then IK makes sure you're not going to be truly mobile. Even laying guitar in Amplitube requires outside interface to get the tracks to Vocalive! Exacerbating my irritation is the lack of love for the loyal...how many times do I have to pay for the same software? Kick your marketing analysts to the curb and stop sucking us dry...we're a nitch market with limited resources - if we were already successful we wouldn't be here, we'd be in a New York studio.

Too expensive. Costs too much for what it is. 20 bucks should give you all the program features. I regret downloading.

Stopped working. I just updated, and broke the app, none of the harmony presets work anymore, they revert to some of the other presets for some strange reason, bummed

Still waiting.. I solely have used this app until iOS 15 now it won’t even start. When do we get an update?refund?

Warning. The quality of this app is overrated,it is not as good as advertised specially if you are getting it as a voice harmony,it is more like a toy that my 12 year old playing.

$20 for a 1 track recorder?. Why don't they just charge what they really want instead of selling an app that only has one track? I ended up just buying another app and got 24 tracks for less than this.

This COULD be a best Vocal app.... ...But it needs Audiobus to make it useable in the IOS world today. It's great to sing and sound great, but if all it has is copy and paste we might as well sing into an old cassette recorder! Auria, Cubasis, Animoog, IMS-20, you name it, all the serious music making apps have Audiobus,. Vocalive is a great app that will be left behind if somebody doesn't hurry up and upgrade it! I will change my rating to the 5 stars it could have, on the day you add Audiobus to your app!!!

Terrible. You've gotta love paying $20 and only getting part of the app! If they worked as hard making apps easy to use as trying to sell you add ons it might be ok... Rip off

Needs work. Crashes a lot and freezes great app when it's working. I guess I'll have to wait for bug fixes a lot of money for a product that works sometimes

Can't use it.. It won't open in garage band. Keeps disappearing. In addition, the fx aren't being applied when I open the app as a standalone. Tried to do a support ticket. Wouldn't recognize my iPad Air 2. And yes I have a current, updated iOS. Fail.

Confused. Wait so i bought this app for $20 thinking it would give me the 8recording tracks, but its telling that i still have to spend $15 dollars on them??? Im confused!! Someone please help me!!!

Amazing app. This app is great when using audiobus in conjunction with garageband.

Report a problem. Okay, this was perfect on my iPod. So I assumed it be just as great on the ipad, it wasn't. There were minor bugs. For instance, the link given to add a song via wifi is not valid because it doesn't work. And also, when I click some effects it says this preset is not unlocked. I would assume buying the app would give me full and complete access to all the presets. I don't get it. Please help.

Promising But. The VocaLive app has many great features but it doesn't produce in the end a quality recording overall. Currently using an iPad2 64 GB with the iKlip, iMic, etc. What I run into constantly is a very noticeable lag (0.5-1.1 seconds) when using the "No Voice" setting even when using the lowest latency settings and varying how aggressive the pitch control kicks in. Makes it difficult to dub your voice especially in key since you find yourself anticipating when to sing even though you are having to start your vocal possibly off key from the current note(s) being played. Plus the recording quality has been less than satisfactory.....sorta washed out even using the in app purchase of the complete 8 track recording tools. I hesitate recommending this app until I see some interest from IK in upgrading the app as well as giving better tutorials that target specific user complaints.

Do not buy!. No customer support to speak of, and when done buying this app,always begging for more money for half a app....does not work like anything that their videos portray..stay away!!

Do Not Buy!. I purchased this app AND the iPhone app. I bought the crappy iRig mic. The mic is made from cheap materials that break easily. So easily ... It didn't even work out of the box. Customer Support? Forget about that too. I lost my receipt for the iRig mic. They won't take their defective merchandise back without it. I've given them a lot of my money for worthless hardware and software that I can't even use. I also own Amplitude / Amplitude Fender ... For the iPad and iPhone ... Plus a whole bunch of in-app purchases. And ... iRig. THIS is something I've actually been able to use ... Kind of ... It's so noisy ... It's worthless. Will I ever buy another one of their products? Nope. And you shouldn't either. Don't waste your money like I did.

Does not work with iOS11. Bought the whole think and all additional features, only to find that it stops working as soon as you minimize it. You basically can’t switch apps or multitask.

Not even one star. They only get the one star by virtue of there not being a percentage of a star available. Without the microphone adapter, it claims there is clock sync issue. That's right, it doesn't even record.

Needs Alesis I/o dock support. Like the app. Just waiting for I/O dock support so I can actually use it. They've been promising support forever. Please add i/o support already!!!! Once update occurs and support is added and I can actually use it I will re-rate with a much higher score.

Almost there. This is actually a good vocal app. Effects are good. I use it with the Senoma Guitar jack, plugin into the line in with a mic adapter to a sure 58. Sounds pretty good that way. The lack of audiobus support is lame though. To use the effects on other instruments or record directly to daw is necessary to take this app and its price seriously. Please add audiobus support and take this app from toy to tool. That's when I'll give it more stars.

Lost all add-ons on update. I just updated my iPad to the new operating system and updated vocative. Now all of my upgrades are gone and the app wants me to pay again. I am not happy.

Love the app lags a little on iPad mini. So far I love this app. On my iPad mini 7" I see a little lag which produces some static that I end up removing. Still learning this app just started using.

Terrible................ When I bought this app I was so excited, the effects where just what I needed. Until I seen I had to pay EXTRA for the 8 track recording system,you would think if you bought the FULL app you would get 8 tracks... Guess not... At this point I think it's a waste of almost $20 the price is already overpriced and your gonna make us pay MORE for another over priced purchase in-App? Very disappointed. This app is basically useless without the 8 track recording system. So I guess I just wasted good money ($20!) on a useless app! I hope this can change in the future.

Does not work with Audiobus. I bought the latest paid version only to discover that its Audiobus support is broken. They said they are working on a new update so it will work again with the new Audiobus SDK, but that's like a month ago. Moreover, I've also found out that I would have to pay again for the VocaLive plugin in AmpliTube even though I've already bought it as a separate App. Each of IK Multimedia's app has user registration so programmatically they could have shared all the common modules and plugins, but apparently they choose not to. As a result, if I want the same VocaLive effects in AmpliTube, or if I buy the expensive Recorder+Master Fx+DAW in this App, I couldn't use it in the other app. What a brummer.

CAGG. When you record with a track, the balance between the voice and the back track from your library is horrible. No matter if you try to balance it out, the back track sound too low in volume while the voice always sounds louder. How do you delete stuff? Fix it! I spend almost $30 dlls for nothing.

Emergency. Unable to load the sound to be uploaded to the track. I'm using an iPad Pro.

First impression? Deception. More transparency is needed from IK Multimedia. There is advertisement that would lead one to believe this app could be used with the studio mics you already own. Unfortunately it seems you can only use the iRig mic with this application. If someone could prove me wrong on this revelation then I'll add more stars. At this point I'm out of roughly $43 unless I fork over another $59 for the iRig mic. Disappointing to say the least.

Great app. The poor reviews here are not justified. When you update ad the app will ask you to purchase the bundle again, but when you select purchase it does not charge you. To the guy with the mic adapter problem, I use a professional vocal mic through an interface designed for iPad and have had no issues. The only thing that keeps this from being five stars is the inability to cut, copy, and move recorded pieces around in a timeline interface.

Iloud Bluetooth speaker. I just brought the Bluetooth speaker but come to find out VocaLive doesn’t connect to it via Bluetooth. Please update app to make it function able for every feature with ik products

Audio Unit. Please provide audio unit versions of the app to use the effects in combination with other apps more than once since this app by far has the best effects on the market

You guys are greedy crooks!. You guys are greedy crooks because you charge us for this app then make us pay for necessary components. It's like selling someone a car then charging them for the wheels and seats! Once consumers pay for the app it should include these components or jut raise the price and be honest! Geesh!!!

Worth 5 - Gets 3. This is a very good app, and I like the iRig mic too, but without audiobus support, it's basically useless. I saw that Amplitude was updated for audiobus, why not Vocalive? Or maybe you're working on it. I hope so, because this app would be amazing to use with garageband and all of the other amazing software on the App Store. Add audiobus support! You owe it to yourselves!

Buyers Beware!!!. Prior to the update I would've Highly recommended this app! The update offered some much welcomed features. However, it also introduced a major flaw into the equation! The iPads built in mic no longer functions properly with the Vocalive app! When I sing it barely picks up the sound of my voice. It causes my voice to sound muffled! The problem is not with the settings as I turned up the input on the built in mic with in the apps settings. The problem is not with my iPad either as the built in mic works perfectly with my other apps. This new problem in my opinion makes this app useless and a waste of money! Please stay tuned as I will update this review once a new update is released that corrects the problem... FYI this review in no way reflects my opinion of the free version of Vocalive as I have not used the free version for more than 2 years now. It only reflects my views and experience of the paid version! Again, please stay tuned for an update to this review

Almost Perfect. Stumbled across this app by accident thinking it was a TCHelicon app. Totally impressed with one huge caveat. How in the world could you not have a looper to stack vocal loops?!? The processors are top notch. The effects are excellent. It's intuitive. I could retire $1,000 of gear if you could just integrate a looper.

My vocalive wont start after os7 update .. After updating to os7 vocalive no longer works ???? Can you fix this asap as i use vocalive every day.

mr. The app works well however is not compatible with Audiobus as described due to the IOS 8 updates. i have recived promises from IK multimedia that this will be rectified but still waiting. Until then, what's the point of buying any more apps if they don't do what's advertised?

VocaLive for iPad. I am a hobbyist musician who enjoys mastering new mobile music recording technology. Upon being dissappointed with garageband's guitar and vocal limitations, I have recently purchased guitar modelling apps and have just purchased the pro version of VocaLive for the reduced price of $10. This app provides a significant improvement to garagebands vocal recording. I was very impressed with the sound quality and ease of use fo the interface. I am using a tascam ixZ interface ($50) that allows for guitar and both dynamic and condensor mic inputs. This interface is the only cheap one i know that has the ability for all three. Phantom power is also provided by the interface for condensor mics. My cheapish dynamic mic sounds great thorugh the interface into the app even though VocaLive is supposedly desgined for condensor mics. The main problem I see is that you cannot copy and paste sessions beetween apps meaning I still must use my computer to transfer a vocal track to a seperate backing track. Other music apps allow for this type of copy/paste file transfer thus eliminating the need for a separate computer. This is annoying as who wants to rely on another computer just for transfering one vocal track. It is not really a mobile app. Secondly, a digitial wave editor would also be handy to modify the track prior to sending. However it is well woth the $10 and i have managed to import a nice sounding track to garagband for inclusion in another project, albeit via my work computer the following day. Fantastic for hobbyists who want a professional vocal sound. I use the presets as they are easy to use, but i read that you will need to modify the presets to obtain the best vocal sound. Also I dont like having to pay for the additional 7 track recorder. it should be included in the full price. Overall a good app for the reduced price. My 5 and 2yo kids also love the FX presets that make them sound like monsters, chipmonks etc. I connect to my home amp via the headphones output from the interface into my aux input for clear stereo monitoring, if required.

Not for pro live performance... Rubbish. The reverb has so many artefacts and twangs in there that it is unusable as it sounds so unnatural. The controls are really tiny and hard to adjust.. Eq is unlike any eq in the real world with its layout, no plugin or hardware eq is anything like it. Spent money on iRig pre hoping this would be a good product... Rubbish, only good for frog effects and crazy vocoder presets that are a good gimmick but offers little for a serious musician wanting to use this in a live situation.

Needs Audio Unit Extension capability, otherwise solid.. To truly make this app part of a complete software package it could definitely use the ability to be used as an Audio Unit Extension and be able to modify the carrier signal, that way it can be used as a vocoder style vocal and speech processor in GarageBand for iOS and iPadOS. Other than that, it is a great app for what I want out of a vocal and speech processor.

Incompatible with update iOS. Since the last iOS update I've got some problems with the app like the app shutdown when I Try to save a new project and something like "Audiobus initialization problem" The app is great but after this update I'm just waiting for a solution.

So ridiculous.. Waste of money. When I record, the music is so quiet you can't even hear it. This app worked fine before the update months ago. I even bought the iRig mic, and stil nothing. At least I can use the mic for garage band. Don't waste your money. App support was not helpful. Come out with a new update to fix these problems.

Great app. Working great now, had to sync through iCloud.

Disappointed. I can not seem to get this app to work with my Apogee MIC. I would appreciate a more descriptive explanation of which mics may be used and which can not. I'm hoping that future versions will allow my mic to work with it. For now, it's a waste of money and time.

Best app of its kind!. Very good for recording vocals and sound quality very close to studio quality when used with IK's iRig Mic (which I'm using now and I love it). But here's some features i would like to see in the next update: 1) Compatibility with dock connector microphone inputs. 2) Audiocopy (Audiopaste) feature. Please include them in the next update as it would make Vocalive complete. Thank you

Terrible song list UI. This has been my favorite recording app until the latest version, when they changed the user interface for the loading screen, replacing long descriptions with a useless icon for each song, and not leaving enough space for more than a few characters in the description. For people with hundreds of labelled song clips, this makes the app virtually unusable. For example, I have many Rolling Stones vocal parts, like "The Rolling Stones - Wild Horses V1". Now all of those songs look like this: "The Rolling Sto...". 15 characters is not enough to properly label song clips. Please fix the loading screen. It makes this app a real chore to use. Other than that, it's a great recording app for simple parts.

I can't believe it.. I've purchased the app to record something really important I've already paid for every section there,but absolutely it's not working with other microphones... I was excited to use it ,not cool.seems to be working just with iRig microphones.I guess its a big problem which needs to be solved,I would be satisfied if I could return the app and get the amplitube instead,then I could rate 5...

Very Bad sound quality. No matter how I tried, this app just doesn't cut it. Through headphones or good quality monitor. Coming out Apogee one (ipad) With a sm-58 Direct or through my boss rc-505 Tried to tweak the presets... Nothing does it... The sound just loose all its "oumph" Very bad sound quality! Plus the harmonizer / hardtune just lag way too much even tough it is set toultra low latency. I didn't give 1 star because the interface is decent. Was gonna buy amplitube next but I'm gonna go with jamup instead. No more IK multimedia product ever. Just to make things worse: STOP PUTTINGS ADS IN A 20$ PRODUCT GODDAMMIT!!!!

Same complaint... price is an issue. LOVE the product.... got the email notification that it was available and bought it immediately. However there is an added $14.99 price for the "8-Track Mixer"... something that is essential in this product and frankly the real reason to get it at all. It should be cheaper or included. But hats off to IK Multimedia for the product... just not happy with the price... especially since I already have the iPhone version.

Good. Don’t listen to the negative reviews, this is legit. If I had anything negative to say about it, it’d be that when you purchase the $19.99 vocal live for iPad or as I imagine any of the $19.99 vocalive app, they only give you just a couple effects, so if u don’t plan on purchasing/unlocking all features, you’re better off sticking with the free vocalive app. I will see the quality is incredible ...same with the features

iPad 2 & iOS 7 no longer working. Really disappointed that this app no longer works with iOS 7 on an iPad 2. Crashes at start up. I really hope the company has an update in the workings. I bought all the in store app purchases as well as an external audio device. No longer works, with or without the device. The iPhone app works fine on my iPhone 4 with iOS 7 installed though. If anyone has any idea how to fix this problem, please let me know. Already tried resetting all settings and reinstalling the app.

Where is the copy/paste?. What kind of audio company makes an app with no audio copy paste feature? This feature should always be a fundamental upon release otherwise it's just a toy, a very expressive toy at that.this company is gaining a bad reputation quickly.

I LOVE THIS! Just wish it had a distortion effect.. I really really REALLY Love this app. I play in a couple different types of bands with different styles of music. So having a vocal effect that fits in with a type of music your performing live is an amazing Plus. Having the ability to also have it at your finger tips and have clear and visual control over the parameters of each effect is just almost mind blowing lol! I had many types of vocal units from rack units that are made for vocals to different types of floor units made for Vocals. Tho nothing truly that I have felt that I've loved or has been totally practical. Especially something for Live wouldn't cause some sort of problem. To me when you go to a show . The re shouldn't be anything that takes you outta the Experience . The audience should be lost in the music and the performance . No egos just a flow of music. Wish there not to be something that reminds you that your watching a show. Like a Score from a Movie .You should be pulled in by a beautiful rush of sound that is all blending together as if the artist where all just one instrument. Point being I Love this and am impressed by it. I kinda can't believe it's an app. It's incredible to think what the future will bring . Highly impressed with the quality of the sound. Very smooth. Thanks to everyone involved in creating this at IK Multimedia . I hope they continue to listen to what vocalists want in the effects area . The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is there is just one effect ,that to me is missing. I'm not saying it's a complete standard in vocal effects . Tho it's become a more and more common . That effect being DISTORTION. It would be so so nice to just have that one little extra effect. With different types of distortion you can create such a mood . Wether it be a lonely sad anger . like a phone distortion . To an enraged I've Lost my mind screaming through distortion . To a subtle grittiness to something beautiful to create contrast. So please in your next update please , I would so Highly appreciate a distortion box . Maybe something that has a knob on it that you can choose some basic distortion effects . Like the phone effect , a fuzz effect, megaphone effect, a cruncher, a clipping or glitching effect and then a couple knobs to control the parameters of the intensity and strength of it. Tho I'm sure and know you already know all that. I would just be really excited to see it and use. Thank you again for making something worth using. ^_^ When VocalLive gets Distortion . To me ,it will be blowing these other pedals and rack units I've used outta this universe. And a 5 outta 5 won't be enough . They'll need to create an ability to add 5 more stars to these reviews . Thank you for updating this app to work with IOS 7!. This along with Loopy HD are my two most-used apps I've ever purchased. I use them with beatboxing. Thank you for making such an awesome app! Could you also at some point make a voice box app? I would definitely buy it!
