"My most indispensable app is my guitar tuner, Cleartune. None of the old visual or analog tuners are as precise. I've even taken it on stage with me!" - Rosanne Cash
"Cleartune and Clockwork are my most used apps." - Ezra Oklan (Nicole Atkins, Norah Jones, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, Matt Beck (Matchbox 20), Chico Hamilton, Arnie Lawrence)
"I've been having trouble with interference on stage with other tuners for the iPhone. Used Cleartune last night before a gig and had no problems with stage noise. Excellent tuner for bass." - Rob Calder (Kanye West, Angus and Julia Stone, The Break and Repair Method, Ghostface Killah)
Used in the making of the new Gorillaz album "The Fall"

Cleartune is a chromatic instrument tuner and pitch pipe that allows you to quickly and accurately tune your instrument using the built-in mic in your device.
Cleartune features a unique "note wheel" interface allowing you to quickly find your pitch, paired with a highly responsive fine-tuning meter for the perfect tune.
With support for custom temperaments, transposition, notations such as solfège, and adjustable calibration, Cleartune packs more power than most pro tuners, yet is simple enough for everyone to use.
Cleartune can tune acoustic or electric guitar, bass, bowed strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, tympani and any other instrument that can sustain a tone.
Most electronic tuners cannot properly tune a violin. With a built in temperament for violin family instruments, Cleartune will have the 5ths singing perfectly.

Update for iOS 11
It’s not practical to change the screen sleep time to adjust to this. Needs an option not to turn off the screen otherwise it keeps turning off in the middle of tuning.
This app was highly recommended to by a Grammy awarded musician who said that this is the best tuner, but it does not have good functionality for me. The tuning fork won’t work! That is basically a 50% dysfunctional app! Not cool! The tuner itself is great, I was expecting much better!!
1 star to maybe get the developers attention. I think this app just needs an update. Everything is perfect but the app shouldnt go to sleep while I’m tuning. Also maybe utilize the bigger screens on the iPhone X and up
This might have been the first thing I bought on the App Store. So happy it still works.
I am unable to set up the standard E tuning for guitar. The app suddenly shows a C tuning. Tried correcting this problem
I just purchased this on a recommendation from a fellow violinist. I’m on iOS 12 on my iPhone 5s. The pitch pipe feature does not work at all. I checked settings, restarted my phone, and even removed the app and reloaded it. Nothing. Can you please tell me how to remedy this problem or give me a refund? Follow up: After 3 days of waiting for a response here in the App Store, I decided to try to contact the developer via their website, but all I got after typing in my message and hitting "send" was an "internal server error" message. so I called Apple support, and Apple issued a refund. Thank you Apple for rectifying the issue.
I’ve used this app since it was released and it has never let me down.
I use this app everyday to tune every one. Latest update-the app allows the screen timeout to shut the app down. Why did I loose this functionality?
This was my go to tuner for years. I recently updated my iOS and had to update the app. Please tell me how an update can turn a simple tuner that worked flawlessly for me for years into a useless pile a garbage. What happened? The needle display used to move smooth. Now it jumps and jerks. Why on earth would you change this is beyond me. Looking for another tuner I guess. Please change it back. I really used to love this tuner. I make my living as a studio guitarist in Nashville and use this every day for my acoustic instruments. Frustrating.
Iphone x version support please
I use this app everyday. It just does what it says it does and well. This is probably one of the most used apps on my phone. Thanks!
I've used this app to tune my guitars for years and have recommended it to hundreds of students and fellow musicians. Since the update, it has become useless. It has lost its smooth glide and has become jumpy. I can no longer tune my guitars with confidence. Unless the app is returned to its original functionality I won't be using it anymore. Please fix ASAP!
Love this app. Very straight-forward to use. I can always rely on this app. I installed this other tuner but it was never as accurate as this app.
I can never understand this.. I had this amazing paid app which worked beautifully and now an update (which annoyingly removed the Unlock feature) has ruined it. It is now completely useless - regardless of sensitivity setting and with the phone right next to my violin, the pointer just seems to arbitrarily flick backwards and forwards indicating nothing! Very annoyed that a fully paid-for app is no longer fit for purpose. It should either be fixed or removed from the app store.
Great app it tunes really accurately and is far better than the other free ones! Go ahead, pay for it. It’s worth it!!!
Fantastic, simple tuning app. I’m glad it’s updated for iOS 11 as it’s a great app that offers a convenient substitute to a chromatic tuner.
The new update is not as good as the old one, needle response is lagging
I've used this app for 3 years, very happily, but with the recent update the feature allowing the A4 Calibration to be set with the microphone has been lost. This means that the app is now useless to me. Very unhappy.
Forget the glowing reviews, in its current incarnation Cleartune is a shade of the app it once was. Previously the most accurate, sensitive and - well, *clear* tuning app going around, none of that praise applies since the iOS 11 update. Firstly I’m not a fan of the zoomed in display, but the real issue is under the hood. It seems not to process notes in real time any more, since the display jerks back and forth like an online game with horrible lag. (I’m on a fully updated iPhone 7 with no other problems so am unsure how anyone could be getting smoother performance). My theory is the developers have made the bare minimum changes to the code to allow 64bit functionality, so it works, but to make it run properly would require a much larger overhaul of the code. Well, get on it developers. That, or consider renaming to Jerkytune. I’ve stopped recommending it to any of my students, but will again if we get a fix - we all want Cleartune back in its rightful place as king of the tuning apps, sadly it’s not even close right now.
Cleartune for iOS11 removed the visual cue of a green light saying you’re in tune and a red telling you that you are out of tune. This seems like a fairly big error and I hope it will get fixed. It’s a shame because the app used to be the best one on the App Store.
For people using this app - I really do love it and it's been great for tuning my guitar and bass guitar. As a full time IT professional I appreciate this App being updated so I can use it and update to iOS 11 to get the security patches. As a musician I'm glad I can keep my guitars and bass in tune. Rock on!
I used to LOVE this tuning app. It was my all time favorite. I just updated it and now it’s all jerky. The continuous tuning wheel and needle used to move fluidly but now when a string is plucked, it jerks around and one can’t seem to settle in on the correct tone until it stops jumping and settles down. I am totally disappointed in the upgrade.
Calibration by sound feature removed. This is very important to how I use it.
The update made this app substantially less good. The tuner used to show a yellow icon that turned green when you found the correct pitch. Not essential but sometimes useful and now it’s gone. The speed and accuracy of the tuning seems to have taken a hit with the new iOS update. The biggest gripe however, is that the screen now dims after a minute or two while I am tuning with students and this is wholly unacceptable. I hope they can make the app like it used to be, but I’m going to look elsewhere.
I been using this app since the very start I’m so glad it works on iOS 11.keep up the great work!!
The earlier version was better, towards the end of earlier version and just before the upgrade problems started.. since the recent upgrade, completely unusable even after deleting and reinstalling.
So glad this was updated to 64-bit! By far the best tuner I've tried
The best microphone tuner I've ever used. I have not tried the iOS 11 update (I'm still using iOS 10) but when I do, I will updated this review.
I rarely pay for apps, but I bought this one a couple of years ago and loved it. I am a music teacher and have referred many students to this app. However, the update has made it frustrating to use for several reasons. I like the smaller size of the old tuning "wheel". This larger size seems to be more "jumpy" and is distracting. It was also very helpful to have the needle stay yellow until the correct pitch was attained (now it just stays green making more difficult to see when that pitch is achieved). I would have rated the app 5 stars with the old version. I will probably look for a new app to use and recommend.
This is the best tuner app in the App Store!! Thank you so much for making the update!
Using this a few years and my favourite tuner app. Thanks for updating it for iOS 11 😁🎶
Works perfect. , have just tuned up an acoustic banjo then a bass guitar using this app , highly recommend
This app the best app ever.Well worth the money.
This app is so easy to use.i would definitely recommend it😃
Most apps on the iTunes store are just there to take your cash... This app however is one of the best tuners ever... It's far from a toy... No gimmicks here... I've been recording music for 25 years.. I use protools , neve pre amps and valve mics.. And I use this cleartune app.... It's as good as any studio strobe tuner without doubt... It's a rarity on this app store.... If you play music at any level , I recommend downloading this and then perhaps removing your credit card details from the AppStore, tuning your instrument , and play play play ...forget the programming apps that play music for you.. Get this app , and get into life.... Rock on , rap on, folk on , hip hop on , whatever you're into... Tune up... Tune in... Get real !!!!!! Five stars ... Top of the line tuner... Theres nothing else here to compare..and Theres no hardware tuner under 200 euros that's in the ballpark either .. That's for sure.... After that all I can say is the money you save from buying the other crap on here, will contribute to saving for a better instrument....WORK HARD AND BE NICE TO PEOPLE !!!!!... B.Goode
This app is great.I tried a load of the free apps and they were confusing and ultimately useless. I'd never tuned a guitar before I bought this app, is straightforward and accurate.
Great tuner and really easy to use really good for tuning violin
Does what it says on the tin - works equally well on bass and guitars
This app is amazing! Can't find anything wrong with it. It tuned my electric and acoustic guitars perfectly!
