Can the count be muted from the front screen?. Question: what’s the toggle button at the very bottom left of the screen, under the microphone? It looks as though it should mute the count, but seems to have no effect. Can I mute the count from the front screen? (I can do it by tapping the mic, going to the next screen, hitting mute and back, but the toggle would be much quicker.) Update: Got your answer, thanks so much. I’m just using percussion for now, so I hadn’t picked up on the chord changing.

Excellent. Isis good app to isolate instruments & try to this complex music.. Just when I thought I had it. It is hard for a newbie to salsa to understand 3/2 or if you are in 2/3. Love the animations & ability to pick what you want to hear. Well done

Intern in Beginning Salsa. This app is perfect for listening for the different instruments associated with Salsa music. It also gives the “Beats per Minute” which helps in keeping step. Also counts to help the beginner keep in step. This app will help the Beginner identify the instruments in Salsa. Valuable in the sense that Salsa music doesn’t count your steps for you....thus teaching you the timing counts. Well worth the price.

Easy and robust. I’m so sad I did not find this app sooner when I was a beginner. But now that I’ve been dancing for a couple months I think it’s actually even more helpful. It’s really help me find tune my dancing. The timing and instruments are really easy to use right on the front page of the app. I’m Much better in tune with each of the instruments when I dance now.

Awesome app!. Awesome app!! You can control tempo (most important tome). And the volume and presence of each intrument including th clave. This allows me to get familiar with all the rhythms . Awesome! To developers : i wish the clave volume could go a bit louder

Aspiring Salsa musician loves this app. I’m a good musician well into the senior years . I’m new to Salsa. I increase the clave volume when jamming out. When my salsa clave groove is strong I decrease the clave stick volume and play to the congas only, or bongos because there may not be a clave player at a jam, So I need to be confident with whatever the percussion instruments are. A fabulous practice tool!

Still good. The app has been updated (changed) a couple of time. I prefer the old format (2015). Made more sense to me. Having said that, I still recommend it.

A great app for learning or teaching musicality!. I have been dancing for about 15 years, and definitely wish I had this when I was starting off! Salsa music can be very intimidating and confusing for beginners, and this app is a nice, graphical way for both beginners and more advanced dancers to learn about the instruments of salsa and the different beats involved in the music. My one gripe is that the interface could be a little more intuitive - case in point I turned off the visual counting for the beat and cannot figure out how to turn it back on!

Fantastic app!. Everything about this app is awesome. Being able to pick chord progressions in different keys, switch the clave and turn on and off instrumental parts allowed for deep practice.

Great but needs an update. Great app! Two suggestions: 1. The bass isn't synchronized with the other instruments. Please fix! 2. The app should have the función of controlling the volume of each instrument like the website allows you to do. Thanks!

Salsa trainer. I’d like it better if it had different rhythms like Cha-Cha, rumbha and Matuno . Also written piano music would be a great help

More piano rythems. We need more rythems like El Preso or even better if we could download a song and remove vocals and instruments at need. If not, a larger library of piano loops is needed.

Pretty basic for a paid app. Sure, this app provides modifiable tracks to suit your needs. But, that’s absolutely it. Pretty much as bare bones as you can get. I was hoping for a) tutoriels and some instruction/ information, b) some pre-made tracks that you can just select and play with adjustable timing, and c) there is a functionless goggle switch that seems to control nothing at all. So, some more information and guidance would be useful.

Love it!. Great to jam with when practicing my congas. Sophisticated, simple interface. I am surprised at the lack of ability to save and name specific combinations of instruments and tempos and recall them later. Thank you!

Disappointed did not have the pattern I was looking for. I was looking for a specific count pattern for my class that goes like this... 2 and, 3 and, 4 and, 1 and, 2 and, 3 and, 4 and, 1 and...after reading the other reviews on how flexible the app is. I took a chance but sadly did not find what I was looking for... other features work good...hope the developer can add more flexible count patterns.

Musicality. Great way to learn more about the musicality if salsa.

Great tool to practice dance drills. Easy to use and very helpful for accurate timing. I use the counts over the claves to help me listen for the claves when I’m out dancing.

Excellent. I’m a dance teacher with a music degree. This is the best and most adaptable tool I’ve found for helping my students hear salsa music. Being able to continually adjust the tempo and fade parts in and out helps people find things. Because hearing something is an active process- if you don’t know where to listen or what to look for, you won’t hear it, even if it’s clear for everyone else.

Salsa review. Very, very well done. This app allows you to add/subtract instruments in the salsa ensemble, change keys, montunos, and tempos. The continuous loop in my case is a great help in practicing percussion patterns on the congas and congas. Good job!!

Please allow more volume.. I wish I could turn up the volume bc I like to practice outdoors and even with my ear piece in and volume all the way up the outdoors sounds drowned out the bongo beats. So please allow an amplified sound for outdoor jam sessions.

Love it!!. This app is great for practicing your timing, footwork and working on musicality. I love how you can hear as many or few instruments as you like,have the instructor count for you, and and adjust the tempo.

Salsa app.. As a conguero, This is pretty good for basic practice of timing and decent for listening where clave fits in with the othet instruments. very good for percussionists, if you just want to practice your solo phrasing , rhythmic expression etc.. The bass and piano loops are pretty decent, but there should be some better sounding or atleast more authentic bell patterns for timbal, and bongo bell, overall pretty good !!

The only thing I would change/add is to allow the user to adjust the volume on each instrument individually so i can de-emphasize some (like the cowbell) and emphasize others (like the clave). Latin jazz piano student. This is a great app to learn timing and how the other instruments interact in an Ensemble. It has helped focus my listening to timbales and conga patterns particularly. I would like to be able to adjust volume on some instruments as well as have a little more piano variety but am overall quite satisfied.

On 2!. Lifesaver for the rhythmically challenged, like myself. In addition to using it for drills, breaking down moves, and figuring out what isn't quite right on the dance floor, I also use the clave to keep tempo when I go running. Wicked pace!

Great app.. I found a bug guys. Somehow I got a track playing constantly, even when it was paused. When I pressed play again, it was now playing two tracks at the same time, out of sync. I got it in this state by going to the information page while it was playing and then exiting and returning to the app. ------------ One feature that would be really nice is to have piano tracks with a larger structure--verse/chorus, AABA, etc. or the ability to string together the short phrases already provided. ------------ I really like it. I'm using it to explain to new dancers how to find the beat and for on1 dancers to learn on2. One feature that would be nice is if the user could save several preset combinations of instruments, including their volume settings. That way, it's quick to switch between full band, percussion only, individual instruments, etc. Switching back and forth is important for teaching purposes. It would also help to have an option with all the instrument controls on a single page. The balance in volume of the instruments is not great. When each is set to equal volume, the balance seems much different than a real band. I know they can be tweaked individually, but it would be better to have a more realistic starting point. In the 2-6 voice counting mode, the 2 is slightly behind the beat. The 6 is ok.

Now make an iPad version!. I love it! All it needs is more conga patterns and an iPad version.

Great learning tool!. If you are new to Latin rhythms or have been playing by ear, this app allows you to separate each instrument to really hear their relationship to one another.

Salsa. Great app. Well worth the low cost. Use often to exercise chord progressions on guitar. I have recommended to many friends and students. Love to see a samba app like this.

Love this app, does all it promises!. I practice Salsa piano montunos every day with this app for past year. Also using for learning bass and Chapman Stick. If one of your percussionist go to jail, no problem! You can use this app to get through rehearsal!

Useful and fun. Really helps to improve your dancing and sense of rhythm. Take two pencils and play the clave along with the app at different speeds. It's harder than it looks

Really nice app for dancers and musicians. I've owned this for a while and just now writing a review. I have always wanted a sort of "clave metronome" but never liked the implementation that other metronomes used since the clave pattern is not anchored with another instrument so you can lose the "1" (important for those new to this music IMO). With this app, you can add a voice identifying the 1 (among other options) so this one takes the cake! I could see this also being useful to dancers and dance instructors alike. Simple to use, an elegant interface, accurate, and, most importantly, USEFUL earns it five stars.

impressive tool for composition. as a professional musician/composer, I'm always checking out music apps to spark fresh ideas. this app is in my heavy rotation pile. two suggestions: I could really use an optional click track. and I'd to be able to have several voices to choose from - cuz I spend alot o time listening to this guy counting!! thank you. great app.

A Teacher's Dream!. After mulling through numerous crappy apps on anything latin rhythm related, I almost gave up. Thank Goodness! I came across this app - it is everything I need to help my students better understand all the layers of latin rhythms and melidies. The ability to add/subtract instruments, control tempo, and the must-have library of rhythms is outstanding. Thank you to the producers and programmers for bringing something of good use and great value to bring music closer to the people.

Great app. Great for salsa learner

This is a Great Ap !. For anyone wanting insight or clarification regarding Salsa performance basics. You can use it for practice or to clear up any pre conceived notions. I would like to see this evolve into a drum machine that use samples of real players doing the same thing with the exact same simple user interface. Most drum machines are much too complicated.. This is great!

Excellent App. I am using this app to teach polyrhythmic finger picking for guitar. It is perfect for teaching as you can isolate the Tumbao bass, the cáscara timbales, the clave, the Montuno piano and assign a finger to each part. You can adjust the volume of each voice to get the perfect balance. What is so nice about this app is that it useful and fun from the get-go! So many apps have such a steep learning curve, I almost dread first opening them. But not with Salsa Rhythm! It provides instant fun and learning! I highly recommend this app. My suggestion is to make it audiobus compatible, then I could record myself playing along right on my ipad.

Thanks for doing this. I teach Salsa dancing. When you are a beginner student, it is often hard to find the beat and identify instruments that are part of Salsa songs. The ability to mix sounds, play with the beat per minute, change the keys and turn on and off the counting instructor is a plus! Thanks for creating this!

Great App!. Great for practicing my tempo on the Timbales and also my timing while learning to dance Salsa.

Wrong clave. The son clave is incorrect. And there is just the son and rumba clave, not the salsa one.

No. I bought this on a whim because it looked like the best app for finding 1 in all kinds of songs and instruments. This app plays the same song over and over. I've touched all buttons, and I can't get the song to change or even the instruments. There is no tutorial or any additional help. Boo!

Very helpful. Using this app really helps to hear any of the instruments used in salsa songs with the option of taking any out. This helps to hear the music in the simplest form. I still go back to this app so I don't forget all of the elements that make up the beat.

One detail. Great app but nobody plays music in G# or D# or A# (that's 8, 9, and 10 sharps!), and not often in F# or C# (6 and 7 sharps) either. Spell your keys with flats instead: C, Db, D, Eb, E, F, Gb, G, Ab, A, Bb, B. Musicians will like you better!
