Not only does the badge app notification not adjust as you read new mail, even when notifications are turned off it continues to vibrate every time an email comes in. I’m deleting the app until a new version arrives.
As a college student, Gmail has come a long way with me and without a doubt this app does its justice. It’s extremely easy for me to communicate with instructors and employers, and very friendly as it’s pretty easy to use. It has helped me reviews class lessons through here, helped me see all the responds depending on their category una very organized way, and the spam section of this app surely helps you as it doesn’t interrupt you and drown you with all types of spammers in your main feed. Trust me I could do a whole list of the benefits of this app, but one last thing I would say about this app, is that without it, it would’ve become an inconvenience for me
My unread email notifications do not go away when I read them. It has been happening for a few weeks now and I would really like you to fix it. Thanks!
The first problem I have is that when I get an email and I want to see if the sender to my Gmail contacts it will not let me. It won’t even let me see the email address of the sender. It defeats the whole purpose of having the app on my phone other than to read emails. I guess I just need to get a Microsoft surface. Want to go to Google the device. I’ve tried that before and that ship sunk. My second problem is that the badge notifications on the app icon do not disappear once I have read the email. Sometimes I can get it to go away if I force close the app and then I open again. It doesn’t work every time.
Keeps freezing every so often since new update. Closing out of the app doesn’t fix it right away. I have to wait quite a few minutes or cycle phone and sometimes that doesn’t work either. Ends up working again at some point but I don’t know anything I do specifically that does it.
Since the new IOS update the badge notifications won’t update to clear them off it once I’ve read or deleted or archived the email. Please fix. The notifications make me think I’ve got email still and I go to clear them all off as soon as possible and nothing is there.
This used to be the best app. Easy to use, and everything worked great. But for some time now, the little notification that tells you how many new emails you have, doesn't go away. It's very annoying to have it say I always have new mail. Example, I get three new emails. The icon says 3. I check and read those three. The 3 icon won't go away until it's replaced with a new number showing new emails. This is very annoying, especially for people with OCD like me. I can't use this app anymore until it's fixed.
I use Gmail for everything... Online transactions & offers, studies, Paypal, etc... a great AND unique app that lets you have all organized. Love it!! 👌🏻❤️
So frustrating! Please update this in the next version.
I love Google. Awesome apps. I don’t know how people use anything else nowadays.
Am not very tech savvy, so this APP helps to simplify things.
I’ve been using gmail for years and have no problems at all it’s faster and easier to read and secure. No worries!
Works Well! Now let’s get compatibility for the Apple Watch!
Very disappointing - should not have been released. Badge notifications still not working, why do I have to scroll to the end of the message to reply (no reply button visible when a message opens). When I hit reply the cursor does not appear anywhere on the screen so initially I tapped randomly until the keyboard appeared. The UI is unexpectedly extremely poor for a google product.
Can't believe the naysayers and knit pickers It's great Google keep it up
Love the full featured Gmail inbox experience, but this app really needs multitasking support on iPad. Split view would be killer.
Please fix the part where the badge doesn’t clear when emails have been opened/read.
It’s ok. I’m thinking of going back to the mail app that comes with the iPhone. It keeps telling me that mail is there that I’ve already deleted.
Intuitive. Follows an easy to use logic process: sorts, categorizes and stores.
I use my main Gmail account via the iPhone’s mail app instead of Google’s app because of missing conveniences. I would like to be able to mark an email as “unread” after opening. This highlights it in the list. The most important feature I want is to “unthread” and separate emails (into single emails) that are part of a chain of replies. This is very important if you are selling things on Craigslist or eBay. I know it’s possible to do this on a computer w/ Gmail but not via the Google app for phone. I would also like to edit the subject line of an email sent to me to make it easier to find in the future (most people write crappy subject lines).
Functional. Easy to use. Keeps your emails organized with purchases first which I like.
The counter on the icon that shows the number of new and unread emails isn’t changed as emails have been read and in some cases deleted.
Echoing other reviewers sentiments, it’s been over a week.
Great app, LOVE Google Wallet as well. Both apps super easy...Customer support very nice and helpful.
Google does not care about the customer reviews I guess. Like everyone is complaining, the badge notification never goes away. Badge notification error badge notification error Badge notification error badge notification error Badge notification error badge notification error Badge notification error badge notification error Badge notification error badge notification error Badge notification error badge notification error Badge notification error badge notification error Fix this very minor problem please please. Or dont if you google has any technician to work on this stupid small issue
Every since the apples update the notifications badge will not go away. My ocd goes nuts over this. Idk if this is something gmail can fix but I’ve seen others complain for the same things. Hopefully you or apple get it worked out. Love the app otherwise and have used it for years.
It is so easy to use and navigate
