Horible. The video multitasking feature is horrible when u r switching between apps . It gets so scratchy. Lack of repeat video feature. Can’t play compacted video (high quality low size videos) smoothly. U cannot play 2 subs simultaneously. It just not worth the money, if u gon pay search for something more professional.

Used to be great :(. Used to be the greatest video app for iPad/iPhone. It was pretty robust and you’re allowed you to just Wi-Fi transfer and files as needed. The app stopped working with iOS 16 I don’t know why. No, the sound acts wonky and has been so for a few months now. The website doesn’t look like it’s been updated in a very long time, and the app hasn’t been updated in two years. Perhaps one day they will fix this, but I stopped, holding my breath for a few months now.

Over a decade in use. I have been using this app for that long always works no matter what type of file I throw at it. I’ve used it on iPhones iPads and currently on my iPad Pro it always just works. It’s updated consistently I love that it plays MKV files without a stutter. Great app worth the price if you want something that is a workhorse no matter the device this is the video app you need.

Best Media player. I’ve been using this app for about 7 years now and still the best media player that I’ve used. Only thing is that they don’t update the app as frequently as before and had a minor issue with a subtitle not being displayed properly with one of the anime I watched. Otherwise a solid app with many useful features.

Please update or fix. Great app until last update.. Great job. Been using your app for a long time. Love the ease of use. It was able to play most files until this last update. Files (mp4) plays with sound but not video. Please update codecs or fix. Thanks. Keep up the good work.

Exactly what I need. This app is exactly what I would need to play my mp4 video files. A must have while I travel.

AS GOOD AS IT GETS...THE BEST YOU CAN FIND. BAR NONE!!!. This is as good of a player as you need. It does it all and so much more. Nothing else like it, VLC or otherwise. Plus long time customer and I bought Pro with my iPad 1. This is a iPad Pro stilll running version bought years ago. Nothing but good... They also have avistreamer which ROCKS.

MP4 Stops every 10 min. Agree with earlier comment that it does not work well with long files. The sound of MP4 files stops every 10 minutes roughly and I had to restart the app to keep watching.

Great app - infrequent updates - needs cellular data option. Please make this app able to download using the iPad cellular data. As of right now this is not possible. It must be on WiFi to download anything over FTP. The cellular data can be enabled on the iPhone but not the iPad.

Worthless App…….Stay Away….Comments are fake?. I have movies on my iPad and this app doesn’t seem to be able to find them. I do not put pictures on the internet. And all I see is Network crap….Google….and no way to find my videos. $2.99 and I will get a refund. And you people who like this app must e phony comments.

Excellent app. This is one of the best video player I have used. However, there seems a bug. When I connected it with Google drive, it only lists up to 100 files or folders. I have no idea how to find the rest of them.

Solid player. Has done everything I need for years. Network/cloud interaction isn’t great but I don’t care about that. I just drop videos in it from the finder and keep them on the iPad until I’m done with them. Crashes occasionally if you do a lot of scrubbing on some video formats. And no, this isn’t a fake review. I’d probably recommend a different one since this one isn’t maintained regularly, but I’ve had no need to switch from this one.

Pretty good player, but can’t import videos in Photos. The controls are clear, easy to use, and useful. However, there’s no way to add a video from camera roll/recents. Sort of a strange omission. Also, as others have said, there’s been no update in 2 years 😢

picture-in-picture bug. I’ve been using this great app for years. With the last update the picture-in-picture mode has started acting weird. Please fix this. It’s crucial for my multitasking.

Battery. The app has not been updated in over a year and now on ios12 its hogging battery as it needs some compatibility updates. VLC is far more battery efficient now, would like to see some updates as i paid for this app twice, once for iphone and second time for the ipad

This is my best video player using for IPad and IPhones. I have been using this since it was first release and bought it. It still is my number one choice and still using it today.

Currently useless. Suddenly stopped being able to download files from drop box into it....tried on other devices and it still won’t work. My drop box has no issues so the problem is all on avplayer’s end.

PiP doesn’t work on ios 12.4. so i updated to ios 12.4 and the PiP mode doesn’t work anymore, the icon changes but the screen doesn't pop out. FTP crashes each time you send one file making it a hassle when sending multiple files from another device

Very good. The player worked without problems but now has an audio delay. Besides that it’s perfect.

Any updates?. This app hasn’t been updated for a loooooong time. Luckily it still works perfectly for what I need, i.e. provide a place to store and watch some old TV series, documentaries and tutorial videos outside of the usual iTunes / Netflix et al ecosystem.

Would give it a 5 but. It has been 2 years. Please alphabetize the folder list when moving a file to folders. Drives me crazy. I have 40 folders and can’t find them because the list is random. Once this is fixed I will give you a five rating again every week for a year

Sound borked - DO NOT BUY. This app hasn’t been updated in two years, and since iOS 16 the sound doesn’t work properly. It lags and echoes making things unwatchable. Don’t waste your money on this until it’s been updated (If it ever will).

Unable to open file from file manager. This app was able to open file from file manager a few years ago. But it can no longer do it.

Does not support DTS audio. Overall it works well but doesn't support DTS. Unfortunately, there is no way to even upgrade or buy that codec. So I bought this app with no way of watching videos that use DTS. For an app that I pay for, I expect it to have more support.

Overlapping sound. Overlapping sound after ios 16.1 update. Developers please fix it. I love this app. I gave 3 stars because of the problem. If you don’t have this problem, you deserve 5 stars.

Garbage. Buggy. It kept crashing and also would stop responding. Also couldn’t get any methods of playing files to work other than through playing files from Google Drive. However, even in that case it would only *try* to open the file. I waited forever to get it to play (all I got was the spinning thing showing it was working…nothing ever happened).

Best Video Player on iOS and iPadOS. First of all , let me say that I find it very very odd that this app is the only video player app with a proper file manager on the app store for about 7 years. This app shows all files within it Even the files it cannot play. It simply lets you change the format of files by renaming them. And at last the main reason I use this app for more than 6 years now is because it lets you rename the subtitle files within the app. So no need to do that on your computer before transferring your files. It’s the ultimate app for people who use subtitles.

A gem. Great gesture support for pretty much every function, plays everything thrown at it.

Why cannot airplay?. Other apps are able to directly airplay to TV. But this one cannot. Please help to fix it. If I use iPad airplay, the quality is so lousy.

AVPlayer is here to stay. My main video player on my iPads for almost ten years. Yes I do agree maybe UI looks a little bit old and some controls and settings are hard to deal with but tbh It’s really amazing to see the app still getting updates and do whatever it has to do smoothly without any annoying features or other “marketing techniques” that most of the others apps do.

Battery, time, date etc. show on iPad Pro 2018. Happy with everything except it needs an update so that the time, date, etc, don’t show when playing a video on iPad Pro 2018. Still works as it should on other iPad models though.

Keeps crashing. I have been using this app since out first time. Usually I use when I have long travel to download movie and watch in the plane,so about a year didn’t use it. When I try couple days ago every time try to open any folder app is keep crashing. Pretty disappointed. Try to reach support before write review but no luck. Cannot stream video to Apple TV 3rd generation. This app is very good. I have no problems playing mkv or avi files on this app. It is very easy to use. However the main reason i bought this app was so that i could stream avi and mkv files to my apple tv 3. However only the sound will airplay to the tv and the video will play on the ipad. If this problem is fixed ill give it 5 stars. The only way i can fix this is by mirroring my screen which is not always convenient and usually has some lag.

Bring back the old colour scheme. Otherwise good.. Had this app for years. Always been very happy. Easy to use. Easy to load movies. However - cannot stand new colour scheme. Surprisingly the change in colour scheme has had a big impact. It's harder to see in low light and bright daylight. Also, the new small symbols and icons are closer together than previously - making it harder to read/ use quickly. A new UI doesn't always mean that you must change everything. Please bring back the black/darker colour scheme or at least create a new setting option where this can be customised. Thanks

Great App but can be improved. It's a great app overall, very happy with the video playback capability and the price. However, it is a pain that all your movies added will be counted as part of the app's data by iTunes auto backup. I really can't afford the long backup time and all the wasted hard drive spaces due to this issue. Hopefully this can be addressed, if it can be improved like what iBook handles this issue, it'll worth 6 stars.

Great app with room for improvement. This application is great and does for most part what it is intended to do however I think there is much room for improvement. For example: -Capitalizing words when editing or naming files and folders. -The interface could be improved upon a little to make navigation a little easier like a file structure tree as I see most of the screen being empty and unused when finding files to play and possible drag and dropping of files. -Better optimization for the HDMI output to TVs. I found subtitles tend to cause the video to jerk around a little and some subtitles for whatever reason tend to just display as "...". Also I don't know how this will play out with the new iOS 5 but the current notifications seem to mess up the HDMI output as well forcing me to close the app and restart it to get things back on track. A great app and I am sure if it is improved upon it has great potential to become the default media player for iOS devices now and in the future. New hardware from apple will only make this easier to achieve later down the track so I would think that making the app optimized for the hardware a big thing to look at. 4 stars for a great app that works great and has lots of potential. Still, a must have for any person that loves to watch videos on the go.

Best player.. This app is the best media player on iTunes. Personally, I haven't had any issues with the files I throw at it. If a normal media player can play the file then so can this app, actually, it can play ones even some media players can't. I did the research online and many reviewers were rating this app highly, so I go it based on those, and it is one of those purchases that I've never regretted.

Great app!. Great way to upload all your videos without having to convert to mp4. Only issue is that when played through the Digital AV Adapter, the screen still stays at 4:3 on a widescreen TV (Unlike the "Videos" app which will naturally expand to 16:9). Therefore you have to change settings on the TV to make the picture fill the screen, it is not done automatically. Maybe this could be in a future update? Other than that, no problems! All my media plays fine & looks great!

Decent player, but.... I was recommended this app by a friend, and it seems to be excellent. However, I've only transferred one episode of something to watch and I'm already noticing a problem. I'm not 100% sure why, but with .mkv files, subtitles come and go. Sometimes they're there, other times they aren't. It seems to be when the font changes on the subs, in this case they decided to go with italics for when someone is thinking or when someone offscreen is talking. Hopefully this could be looked into, otherwise I'll have to be very selective with what I want to watch (something without subtitles at least!)

Finally I can play those emailed WMV files!. All I wanted was to be able to view the short .wmv files which I frequently receive by email. This app views them easily and allows me to store them in a folder. Great!! Now I don't need to open mail in my laptop to view them anymore. Shame I had to wait nearly a year for this!!

Good player but.... Very good player but needs to be updated to use Apple TV as well as ChromeCast. The wifi transfer can be updated as well...

By far the best and most useful app I have ever come across, no more converting video sitting there for hours waiting, Every single video I have tried plays with no problem, also the interface is smooth and awesome to use with helpful settings, highly recommend this app, AirPlay feature for use with apple tv would be very handy though :) update soon hopefully?

Excellent. For under $5 this is a steal. It clearly handles video better than the inbuilt player and allows you to manage those files better as well by allowing you to have folders for your videos. Very fast, plays pretty much any modern video file and if you use your iPad to play video then you really should buy this app. Brilliant app.

Awesome app. The best app I found so far, it can work after screen is blacked out or co-exist with google map while driving. The wifi transfer may need more work to others, but it’s fit all my audio and video needs..

Awesome but minor flaws. After using this app for two months, it has been magnificent for transferring my movies and tv shows from my computer without downloading any stupid file converter which never works. However I have recently uploaded a tv show that is .mkv 720p (1280x720) onto my iPad and have been greatly disappointed by the slight pauses when it is playing sort of like a low frame-rate or buffeting, i think it is caused by the slow buffering system within the app. The video works perfectly on my computer high res and no buffeting of the movie. So please could you fix the problem, until then only four stars

Needs a refresh. It was the king of players but I feel it's dropped it's game. The Google Drive transfer no longer works which is frustrating. But over all it's solid.

Would give higher star rating if two features are added. Love this app, been using it for years without issues. Easy to use and a must have app which is in my top 5 used apps all the time. I ask please add chromecast support, even as an in app purchase, I would happily pay another few dollars for this feature, seriously, if you do this it will be the best av player out there with no reason to even look at others. The other feature I would like to see is wifi transferring files to other devices with this app. Similar to how I can easily transfer photos and videos to other devices in photosync. If I have files that others in my family want to watch, say when we are away from a computer whilst travelling, it would be super handy to just transfer to their device so they can watch on their own device. We travel heaps and would love this feature....If you don't own this app, get it, it makes watching anything easy. You will wonder how you ever watched things without it.

Extremely limited capability to move videos in and out. This app essential runs videos/movies well. Where it is well and truly FRUSTRATING is that it has very limited capability to move videos to and from the app. It is very frustrating and after having used it as my default video player for a while I am now looking for one of the many other newer apps that are now available but have much better capability to move videos to and from the app. nPlayer does a much better job in this regards.

AMAZING. It was like watching a movie!

Probably the best HD player currently available for iPad.. I was fortunate to have grabbed VLC before it was pulled, and that was great as a simple media viewer but lacked a few features, such as explicit subtitle support and proper HD support. This app fills those gaps and more. Don't have any 1080p media but 720p plays perfectly. Only thing I could suggest is the addition of thumbnail view option for media, as VLC had. It would help make navigation more visual and iPad-like. Otherwise, thoroughly excellent app.

Solid dependable performer. I’ve carted videos around for years with this app. It’s been dependable on my commutes and trips OS. The ability to speed up shows without pitch change works great and means I can squeeze a whole episode in on my train ride. Controlling picture, subs, and audio channels works well. The only thing is it is feeling like an app for 2010, not 2020. It now needs a facelift and more than that, it needs UX love to improve usability and perhaps get features that take advantage of devices and iOS in 2020.

Awesome!. Awesome app, actually works and has a lot of nice features. Video playback on iPad 2 is brilliant. Only app so far that will play 720p mkvs without stuttering. Other video apps I have tried stutter with this format, which is what is so popular. This one also seems to be one of the cheaper ones out there. If there is one thing that would make it even better, it would be SMB client, that way I wouldn't need any computer intervention at all to get the videos onto my iPad. Maybe in a future update?

MKV is choppy. This app works pretty good but playing HD mkv formats it does seem to lag a bit, perhaps it needs some kind of buffering feature, have not tried any avi files as the point of purchasing this app was for the ability to play mkv and other HD movies. This is the iPad 2 so I would have thought the hardware capabilities would be adequate. I guess the price was right though and the interface is very easy to navigate and I do like the password protect and folder creation features. I'm giving it 4 stars and hope that an update is done soon to deal with the lagging of HD movies. Thanks to the author of the app, even with the above complaints it's still a great piece of software and have recommended it to friends and coworkers who also own the iPad 2. Regards Chayne

Update has ruined app. I was really happy with this app BEFORE the update. The only thing missing is a Repeat and AB Loop function. This new update has ruined a perfectly good app. 1. The user interface is awful, it takes 3 clicks the access the browser. 2. The play/scrub bar is now half the size of the screen, whereas previously it was the width of the whole screen. How is that an improvement? It makes it really difficult to scrub to a specific scene. 3. The play/pause/stop buttons are also in a non intuitive location, as is the volume control which is hit and miss, you press it and the UI turns off too quickly. 4. The iPad screen doesn't automatically turn off anymore after the movie has finished playing. So when I'm watching a movie in bed I wake the next morning to find the iPad still turned on and drained of power. I hope your engineers fix these "improvements" quickly. Lucky this app didn't have a Start Button, you probably would have removed that too...

SMB support. The app is great, I am using it for years. One small request, adding SMB protocol support. It will enables me to access shared local libraries.

Recommended over other multi-format players. I've used this for several years now with fairly high usage and would definitely include it in a list of essential apps. For avi files it was always the only choice, mkv in the past could be a bit jumpy, now I play mostly mp4s without any problems, even on my older ipad 2. The developers do address issues and av player hd is updated regularly to include new features aswell. I have always recommended this app over others to friends.

Needs CHROMECAST compatibility. This used to be my favorite player. I have been using for years and now it feels old, needs a CHROMECAST compatibility update ASAP

Best player for iPad. A great player but some annoying issues that let it down. In 2.0 you need to specify the language for .SRT files otherwise they will not show correctly as subtitles. The only way to change this is to click on the SRT file in the file list and select the language at the bottom of the screen. This is not documented in the software. Unfortunately as others have found the audio support is a problem in this new version. It seems that some audio codecs are broken or not supported or have been removed. If licensing is an issue why not add it as a paid option for those us that need the codec.

An absolute gem.. This app has definitely had its ups and downs and I have always kept an eye on this app during the latter because I knew it would always come back to being one of the most must-have apps on the iPhone and the iPad. And the current version holds the title for building upon success. Plays a wide array of formats which can be found in the description, there is almost no video or even music format that can cannot be played. Whether it is the common ones: mp4 or avi or flv or mkv, it can be played here smoothly and without glitches. An amazing addition is the editing that can be done to the video you are watching. If the video is dark and cannot be brightened by the device, in-house setting allow you to change brightness, saturation etc; there is also an option in case the audio and video do not sync; changing the delay in those settings should fix it. And there are a huge amount more features that are just as amazing. I HIGHLY recommend this app. Seriously. If you own an iPad or even an iPhone, AV Player is a must have and definitely worth the money.

Best App Ever. This app hands down is the best app I have ever bought. It plays all types of media files and the controls are intuitive and well laid out. I have gifted this app to several friends because I love it so much. I love the fact that you can organise all your media in one space and it's easy to load files via iTunes. You will not regret buying this app.

Av player. I only use it to watch films from my device. Best player on the market as it plays all file types seamlessly and with the added controls for brightness and contrast I can make it look the way I want. Worth every cent.

App no good now. This was my best video playing app, but lately it locks up, freezes and shuts down, birghtness slider makes a black screen. Deleted and reinstalled and no difference. Just disappointed now

Can't see all files on my seagate wireless plus. No SMB option or lan streaming. 5 star if they fix add it.

Now plays 720p natively. I was already quite impressed with this app before this latest update when I found out it plays 720p videos - stutters quite a bit but still watchable. With this new update the app takes advantage of the iPad 2's dual core processor hence it now plays my 720p videos flawlessly, no slowdowns! It also has subtitle support which is somewhat customisable but it would be even better if you can change the subtitle font - perhaps in a later release?

Great App. I've been using this app regularly for ages, works well every time, really good.

Good app, can't handle 1080p. I used to use this app often on iPad 2, but now with iPad retina display thus app is irrelevant. Even with the latest update that claims to support hardware decoding, my 1080p files will not play properly. Yet they play just fine if I mux them and add them to the iPad the normal way. Which is what I recommend you do if you deal with 1080p or full bit rate 720p files. It's still a choice app for other video files, even though the interface is clunky. There may be better ones out there, but I haven't looked. If your app can't play 1080p files because we know you can't access the video hardware, don't try to tell your potential customers that you have solved this problem by references to "H/W decoding".

Awesome. And well worth it. The app plays everything and well I might add even handles the 720p 5gb movies I have. There's only one problem the airplay features need improving only plays the sound via my appletv and with mp4s the picture and sound plays perfect unto the app crashes which seems to be every 10 to 15mins... But still with AirPlay no need to mirror the app works it out. Just needs proper avi support for AirPlay and stop the crashing

AVPlayerHD. I have the latest IPad with the M1 chip in it and it pixelates when I rewind the movie. And it also when you open the movie, there is a black line on the left hand side of the screen. I have to use the middle button on the top right hand side to fix it.

A once great app and leader in its category is now tired and dated ....most notably ...... .....it is very basic and tedious when it comes to wirelessly downloading files. Having to select each file individually, no directories, no way to name ftp servers......omg..... Please developers, look at nPlayer, yes I know it's more expensive, but this is what you need to aspire to. AVPlayer is fine if you are stuck in 2012 and transfer all your media via USB cable. For everyone else check out other options. I've certainly got my money's worth out of this app, but 5+ years on, it certainly isn't in my recommended list anymore.

Brilliant! Must buy.. Works just as described, this is fantastic. Added bonus of multi-touch gestures which can be customised, and password protection of entire file system or just specific directories. The only hiccup so far is that WMV files don't quite play at full speed (probably a decoder issue). More than worth the money spent! No more converting!

Used to be my favourite player - now I never use it (edit 20 Mar 2012). After my previous review in December last year, I've now binned this product because of lack of response to user requests. It's likely many others have done the same thing. At least I explained what I wanted, waited for a significant period for updates to fulfill my wish list, but nothing has happened. So into the bit bucket it goes. There is at least one good player out there that meets all my needs, but this is not it. I hope the developers read this! -------- end edit ------ This app needs some serious upgrading or it's going to be a waste of space on an idevice. Seriously, FTP for uploading from computer to ipad??? How 1970's. Who uses FTP these days? Add SMB and DLNA streaming and SMB downloading or be relegated to the bottom of the pile. Add a Preamp boost for those files with low audio levels. This used to be my favourite player when i first got my Ipad1. The on-screen video interface is still one of the best around But that isn't enough these days. I feel as though you are ignoring your customers by not adding the above features that are so common in other players these days

Amazing app. I don't normally post reviews, but feel that this app has been bashed undeservedly. I purchased it one week ago and it works flawlessly! It has a clean interface, plays all the popular formats without conversion, has wireless/Wifi transfer, is easy to use, offers swipe/gesture controls (e.g. Fast forward 15sec), is very fast and responsive and is one of the best apps for the iPad, period. Buy it, you won't be disappointed. It does everything I wished the iPad could do out of the box.

GOOD APP. I read the previous comments on this review, all of which were very hateful, but i still downloaded and payed for this app. After recieving such negative reviews, i think the developers have fixed the problem, as the app works very well for me and makes it a ton easier to put movies on my ipad. The reason i gave it only 4/5 is because the controls while watching i dont like, but they are perfectly usable. I highly reccomend giving this app a second chance, you wont regret it.

The best media player. I hate to convert my videos to watch them on my device and I have a big data base of movies and amines. This player saved me a lot time. I tested any kind of videos with different formats and different resolutions and bit rates, it can play most of them smoothly. I don't know whether they are using the iPad 2 dual core capabilities or not but the outcome is very good. It seems to have some difficulties with HD videos of some of the formats but fine with the others. One of my files with 1080 resolution and 4k bit rate plays very good while one 720 with lower bit rate runs with a bit of lag. Overall the best video player for iPad. Don't waste your money on the rest of them like I did.

Do not upgrade to new version!! DTS encoding removed. Used to be a great player but I made the mistake of upgrading and now DTS encoding has been removed due to patent problem..... Do not upgrade or you will lose the encoding!!

Crashing on 11.0.3. Doesn’t work with iOS 11.0.3. Regardless, don’t know why I need this any longer v. VLC, both now have same functionality. Plus VLC is actively updated. The developers of this seem to have given up.

Need in app screen lock just like iPhone ver does. I do really hope get in app screen position lock, it is nasty when you lay down to use it without the screen position lock, I just want to lock this app in landscape mode and don't touch it anymore.

Mkv.hd. This is the best app. I've tried a few. Most players do not work well with .mkv hd files. This one was the only one I could find that worked well with all files

AV Player HD makes life with an iPad much better. Been using AV Player HD for 10 years and a host of other video apps too. All the others are gone.

Great App. This app lets you play various video file types on your iPad without converting them first. It has played everything I have thrown at it so far. I have been using it for a long time now. I use the http transfer to move my files wirelessly and it works great. I found that I need to turn on screen mirroring before the tv button will send the video to my apple tv. I also set my screen auto-lock to Never so that there are no interruptions. Not sure if I am doing it the best way, but it works for me. I haven’t read any instructions. The program was pretty easy for me to figure out.

Feature removal. App was great until "updates" actually removed features that were paid for. Allow us to roll back or refund our full purchase price please.

Impressive!. This is my first review of any app...I want anyone on the fence who is unsure which movie app to know...that they need not look any further! This is the one...and the Wifi transfer is phenomenal and super easy to use. I have and ipad2 and this is the best app I have! Highly recommmended!

Sound problems. Great app for a long time now sound does not sync correctly for files.

Doesn’t read my DLNA server properly. Works great when files are played locally, but when I try to play files from my network drive, it always plays a different file from the folder than the one I selected.

Do not upgrade. I think that if this removal of dts is permanent then we deserve a refund. We paid money based on this functionality. If its no longer going to be provided the money should be returned. Perhaps the developers had no choice but if so that probably indicates some problem with them getting permissions when developing the app?!

DTS removed. DTS has been removed due to what they say are "patent trouble". Well how about licensing a codec then? A lot of people bought this app, you should invest that money back into it to give people what they paid for

720p MKV choppy. 720p MKV's no longer choppy and are now watchable on my iPad 2 only a few stutters. Also no crashes and reboots on AVI files. Very pleased with this update.

Not updated for os 16. As mentioned elsewhere it’s broken in os 16. The audio is totally unsync’d and echoing. It’s unusable. Developers contacted, no response. After many years of great use it’s time to move on. Don’t buy unless it’s clear it’s been fixed

Incredible. Brilliant app. Plays everything easily, including latest codecs. Awesome interface with great functionality. And the DLNA function is smooth. The only video playing app you’ll ever need for iPad.

Very limited support for local files on iPad. The app does not appear to support the Files app on iPad to view locally-stored .mp4 files. When selecting a video file in Files and selecting “open in” AVPlayerHD, the latter does nothing. Also, the Dropbox connection does not function. Waste of money so far for me…

Good app. It works as advertised, and comes loaded with features. Actually, that's the only reason I gave it four stars. There are so many features that it impacts the software's usability. This app would benefit from a few less features and a simpler interface.

Great VLC replacement. Very good replacement for VLC app that is no longer availble. No need to convert and easy to transfer files. On the ipad 2 it has no problem playing 720p mkvs and avis. I haven't had the chance to try 1080p files yet. Very easy to use with subtitles as well. Great app especially for the price.

Best Audio/Video Player. No longer work properly with iOS14 (iPad Pro - 1st gen). This is the best audio video player that I have ever seen so far. Easy to use. One wish list that I would like to see is being able to access network storage to watch video without having to copy it to the device. Best app!!!!

Great app. I use this app often and it works great. Just minor things I wish for like dragging and dropping directly into folders and also being able to change the subtitle colour. The white is fine but I always preferred yellow. Other than that I love everything.

PERFECT!. Just got the iPad. Was debating between this and the galaxy 10.1 in terms of video play back (one of my main uses). Couldn't get a 10.1 in 32g, so iPad it was. Fngers crossed as I got this app, and everything works perfectly!! MKV city here, here I come!

Could be better. Plays ac3 codec files, but upnp is buggy. will list several files but only play the same one. And list jpgs in a strictly movie folder. And they all link to the same low res screenshot . And it doesn't even list all files in a directory. So you have to load all the files you want to see if you don't want to play home network roulette

Awesome Player!. So easy to use and plays all your files no problem. You can download your files to the iPad through wifi and then it stores your files for later use. Way better than the other media player I wasted my money on. Had it playing my files a few minutes after I downloaded the app. Love it!

IPad Pro 2018 Issues. Clock, date battery % and weird double bars appear on iPad pros.

Awesome video player!. Works extremely well, love the ability to load via Wifi. it wasn't clear to me how that would work, but it is as simple as choosing the FTP to wifi option, and then opening up a browser with the specified IP address and appending a ":8080" to indicate a port number. A simple webpage is brought up, you browse to a video file, and press the upload button. Easy-peasy! No option for batch loading but it works very well, no having to use iTunes to "side-load" your files, though that is still an option. In the media folder you can easily rename files, and create subfolders, and even password protect folders. One glitch is that when you enable the password protection in options, and then create a folder and try to password protect it, the program expects you to know that the default password is "0000". But once I got past that, I could then change the password to another 4 digit number and it works fine. One pleasant surprise was that it not only plays divx and avi's with different codecs, it even plays .flv flash files. On-screen controls are intuitive and very useful. A must-have, will recommend to my friends.

Great for avi and srt files!. This is a great app for watching avi files with srt subtitles (softsub)! I only wish I had found this app before searching and trying all day to hardsub my current avi files. With this app, there is no need for hardsubbing or converting my avi files. Just add the avi and srt files into the folder on itunes and then import it into the ipad. Once the files are in the ipad, you can directly create folders and put the files into each folder. This is a great feature for sorting out all of my different shows. You also have the option to increase or decrease the subtitle size which is a great benefit for me. I haven't tried any other player apps, but after reading the descriptions for the other players, this one seemed the best choice for me. I'm soooo glad I got this. My only regret was not finding it sooner and saving myself a day of agony. So worth the money and it's not even expensive. Thanks so much for this app!! =)

No sharing option !💔. There is no option to send movies inside avplayer to other apps so we must connect to pc and move it! Sooooooo boring I just what to send them with share-it or Zapya but there is no sharing option in avpalyer

Impressive. I was having problems figuring out how to get files on the iPad since I had not had a file transfer app previous to this one. I think the problem most people are having is that they do not realize that you scroll down on the app screen of the device where you sync it to find the spot to drag and drop the files into. When I got the file on the iPad the sound was off so I had to disable the h/w decoding thing and all seems well. If you are having problems the app has a online help button at the bottom of the settings in the app which tells where to go for transferring files/how to and more. My only suggestion to the developers is that they take a picture of the file transfer spot on the apps so some people can figure out how to do the USB transfer.

Because it works. I would have given this app 5 stars simply because it WORKS, but it also happens to be the most polished, full-featured video player I've used. I tried 4 other high-rated players and none could handle my 720p MKVs. Either they stuttered like crazy or didn't even play. I haven't tried 1080p files because I assume my iPad 2 simply isn't powerful enough, but this app handles even my highest bitrate 720p stuff without a hitch. I was honestly disappointed with my iPad 2 until I found this app, and I've come to love my iPad, and AVPlayerHD is a big reason why. Every other player in the app store seems like it's in beta stage by comparison. This is the only one I've tried that feels like a finished product. Subtitles work fine, you can switch audio tracks, you can fast-forward and rewind in 10 second increments with simple swipes... just about every detail I would want is there. Best of all is simply not having to worry if my videos will play or not. It just works. Super-mega-ultra recommended.

Really solid playback, subtitle support is poor.. I really want to give this player a good review, but subtitle support is just not up to snuff, at all. Subtitles are a total deal-breaker for me (and I imagine everyone else who does the fansubs/foreign films) I have tried playing numerous different .mkv files (encoded by different parties) with embedded subs and consistently find that half (or more) of the dialog gets skipped. I would chalk this up to the device choking on the video stream, except that AvplayerHD is the only player I have found to successfully playback the above mentioned files without any freezing/keyframe frame-skipping/datamoshing ;-) Which makes me hopeful that this issue will be resolved, since it would become my goto player if it were. (I've tried all the others, vlc was the only one that would display all the subtitles, but could not play the video smoothly)

Audio is out of sync in most of my movies. Movies play at various frame rates. Audio out of sync most of the time . Same movies work in VLC player. Completely useless.

Guys, this is awesome!. After last update i could set up external TV resolution to 1080p, this is good way you develope your app, guys! This was great update. Now i can use my Ipad 2 like external video player for my Full HD Plasma. I already watched more than 10 different video files in mkv and avi container. Only in one i have slight freeze problems, but it was really big file with high res and bitrate. Now i do not need to buy Popcorn, WD or any other external separate player to watch some films from internet on my Plasma TV. That's all i need. Just develope you app in this way more. I think Ipad 2 cpu and gpu can handle more containers, higher bitrates and resolution. We need more options for external TV and for video files playback. Anyway best video player app in App Store for sure!

Significant Improvements. Since I last used the previous major version of this app, several major improvements have been made. The FTP browser is still one of my favorite features because it allows me to efficiently download several files from my NAS without hassles. The options for switching audio streams is also of great benefit. One area that needs some practical improvements, though, is the rendering, layout, and interpretation of subtitles. There are occasionally arbitrary spikes in the outlines of some characters. These are usually not very noticeable, however one significantly less subtle problem is the occasional cutoff of an entire line of text. There are also noticeable parsing errors where newline character sequences are rendered as actual test and interrupt the flow of text. Overall a pleasant app to use with plenty of convenient features, but still has room for improvement.

the most used app on my ipad. This program is what others should be…it does the simple things flawlessly (plays movies from almost any format---I convert from handbrake, but use avi as well). The nice touches like switching between aspect ratios easily and the simple ability to turn on the built-in web server/upload client and ftp client make keeping your movie files current and organized are great. I would put it on par with VLC media player (I consider this a compliment) plus the designers seem to assess the problem "what does the iPad not natively do that all users will want to do" and make it very simple to accomplish. My only feature request would be for the program to quickly tell you how much total disk space your movie files are taking up. It can be a little weird when you sync your iPad with iTunes and you see 20Gigs of space being used by 'apps', when it is just your movies inside the AVPlayer 'container'--but I can't really see how the developers could go about fixing that (since it is really more an iTunes problem).

Best video player hands down. I have used AV Player on every iPhone I've had from 4s to 6s. Also have it on an iPad mini 2&3. I've used it with both "freed" phones and normal iOS. It's always worked perfectly and the publishers keep it regularly updated. The controls are great. You can adjust everything to suit your viewing and listening needs. Swipe to fast forward or reverse. When you stop and start it always remembers where you were and even restarts a few seconds back, so it's easier to pick up the story line again. I have yet to put a video format on that doesn't play. Putting videos in couldn't be easier. I use iMazing on my pc. Way easier than trying to use iTunes. Highly recommend this player. Well worth the couple bucks or whatever it is now.

Works fine, never had to use another player. Not sure why some people are having issues with this player? Been using it since my old 3GS. I have it on both the iPhone 4S and iPad 3 and its always worked. WiFi file transferring is a great way to bypass loading files thru iTunes. I also use Air Play on Apple TV and it works fine there too. Are people aware that they have to own Apple TV to play this on their tvs? They might have to set Air Play to "mirroring" in order to get the video and sound to work. Also it's not that difficult to change the settings for proper resolution (there's only a handful of settings). I find that if I just mirror the video and don't select the tv out option that pops up on the screen (but still in air play) the frame rate is smooth. Plays all files. I was looking for VLC Player or similar. In haven't had a need to use any other player.
