TIME Magazine Reviews

The font is too small. I think it should be designed like nook, which makes the text more reader friendly. You also need to add the feature that allows you to look up the definition of a word.

Why should I pay again when I already subscribe to the print version.

Stop stealing money from my bank account  AllyMacDonald6  1 star

Don't know how you got my bank account information but my bank is handling your false charges. Stop stealing debit and credit card numbers, I'm sorry no one wants to subscribed to your magazine. Y'all are scandals

The new format is very difficult to read. The format for leaving a review is just as bad. Nickname? Give me a break!

Updated Review - disappointed w/new ver  suj_meha  1 star

The previous version of the app was excellent, tailoring content to mobile devices and providing some digital-only content. The changes have downgraded the "app" into a database of PDF-type files that are very difficult to read on my iPhone. In my opinion, it does not even meet minimum requirements for a "mobile app." I would be willing to pay a small fee for a real mobile app, but at this point I will have to cancel my long-time subscription, as the current version is essentially unusable.

Digital Time  SunnyT54  3 star

I have always loved Time. It is convenient to have the past and present issues in my IPhone and IPad instead of piled in a corner of my den. However, I wish the app was more interactive.

Disappointing app for a great magazine  Cverwaal  2 star

The magazine is excellent, but the iPad / iPhone app is useless and unreadable; it is just a PDF of the print version with no way to enlarge the tiny print.

Glorified PDF  cselin  2 star

At first, I read a back issue that I didn't receive in the mail and it was a wonderful digital edition with smart font sizes and layout per device. Recent issues are just PDF's that require constant zooming and panning which seems buggier and more hassle than it should be. Pretty much ruins the experience of reading a magazine. Other than that, st least I can read it on the go and in a dark room when I have no choice.

Not customized for mobile anymore  RJ S.  1 star

Renewed my subscription after it expired October last year. Shocked to see that now it's just scans of the magazine pages and not customized for the great mobile reading experience they had. Apple support got me a refund.

Topics are broad. Font is medium...not sure why everyone is complaining. Substance is small. Publication continually shows political bias and considers suspicion of misconduct a guilty verdict. It would be nice if journalism presented the facts and not the journalist's opinion.

Croppy, naive app  Savysavyy  1 star

I am deeply disappointed in the quality of this app. - no landscape mode - inconvenient enlarging: it easily flips to other pages during enlarging action I am considering to quit.

Bad browsing experience  Mehrez s  1 star

Oh please time you can do better than this PDF like browsing. Check out NYT or others.

Terrible  Trilogin  1 star

This needs to be better formatted for mobile. I don't want to browse scanned magazine pages by swiping to flip pages. I sign up for digital access to have an experience much more similar to Time Mobile where everything is formatted nicely and I can swipe to navigate articles and scroll through articles to navigate the content. That reflow for mobile devices is key. I kind of don't want the entire year of access now, this app is ridiculous.

Unreadable App  Ldk676  1 star

I renewed my subscription to Time on my iPhone after a year off. The app's utility now compared to a year ago is like night and day. The magazine was easy to navigate and highly readable last year; the current app has been modified to be unusable and inconveniet. Apparently, the modification goal was to display a page at a time. This was done the expense of readability which requires swiping out for small print. Also gone is the previous flexibility in quickly moving from one article to another without tedious lyrics scrolling through pages. Until Time fixes its app for phone usage, don't waste your money.

What happened with this app?  Thenshaw  1 star

It used to be great on the mobile version but now is unreadable on my phone. Just cancelled my subscription. Too bad I paid for a full year in Sept, ends up being a waste for nine months.

Unreadable & Unusable  Bucky767  1 star

The recent changes in formatting TIME for iPad has rendered an excellent product unreadable and unusable. The print is too small, and moving from page to page when the print is enlarged is problematic. Why the change since January? Subscribers pay extra for digital editions--definitely not worth it with this version. I'll revert to reading my print magazine; a huge step backwards. Very disappointed, TIME. Sincerely, 40+ year subscriber

Font Too Small to Read  Jim NY  1 star

In the past, the iPad version was wonderful. Now it is totally useless because you absolutely cannot read it!! My subscription is about to run out. I will definitely not be renewing until I see favorable reviews. By the way, Newsweek is still very readable in the iPad format.

Devan's Fan

The worst app of all the publication apps I have.  Devan's Fan  1 star

I assumed the Time Magazine app would be in the same league as the NYT, WSJ, LA Times and the New Yorker apps. This app doesn't come close. No look-up function for vocabulary, no landscape, temperamental function bars and poor navigation functions make it a frustrating experience. Worse, the contents page is just a list: touching the title of an article doesn't take you to the page. Who's in charge? I never pay for an app without reading reviews, but I trusted the Time brand and didn't do so. Big mistake.

App non-optimization  steerpike77  1 star

Why does the iPhone app show the entire page of the magazine instead of optimizing the view for the phone? This feature was present a couple of years ago.

Recommended Improvements  vcmthorne  2 star

The Time Magazine app is no longer "user friendly" and does not allow the reader to view articles in landscape or to enlarge the copy. I suppose this was done to provide the reader with a traditional sense of reading a magazine, page by page. This was and is a mistake. It makes it much more difficult for the reader to read and comprehend what is being communicated, e.g., the copy appearing on an iPad for example is very small. In fact, use of the current app can be and often is frustrating and irritating. Ultimately, as an unintended consequence, the current Time Magazine app actually may discourage people from using the app and thereby encourage less reading of the periodical, particularly in this digital age. Therefore, it is highly recommended that Time Magazine should reverse course and allow landscape viewing and also enlargement of the digital content of its magazine when using its app.
