App is great. My mistake for previous rating, I was able to get it working to share amongst the family. It was error on my part and none towards the app itself. Developer was quick and responsive as well. Strongbox is best KeePass app for the Apple ecosystem hands down. I have both the mac and iPhone apps. It’s so easy to use!

Nice app, yubikey compatibility, developer responds quickly. Been using this app for a while, mainly for syncing OneDrive backed key vaults. Works well with yubikeys, the virtual hardware key feature is very handy if you only want to use your hardware key to initially set up Face ID. The developer responds very quickly when I have issues.

Quite Possibly My Favorite App. I know its just a password manager but its been so great to use. FaceID unlock, compatible with browser auto fill, can be used when creating new accounts to generate strong passwords, database backups on cloud provider of choice, built in audit and PWN checks, and a LIFETIME pro upgrade option instead of subscription-only. Easiest $80 I've spent.

The Best KeePass client for iOS and MacOS. This is the KeePass app I’ve needed for years. I’ve used other really good apps, but they all struggled with syncing databases, especially with OneDrive. I’ve been using StrongBox for over a year and it has never had an issue syncing. It has a great UI and handles TOTP well. The MacOS client is the best KeePass client experience on iOS or Mac and I’ve used KeePass for over a decade. I am begging for a Windows client and would be happy to pay another lifetime license for the privilege.

Simply the best!. Outstanding program - yes. Outstanding support - yes. Outstanding developer - yes. I have used all the password managers starting with 1Password. Still like 1Password but after having trouble with safari integration for months I started looking around. Finally settled on Strongbox and have been very happy. It works extremely well on mac and iOS with sync.

App failed to open on iphone 11 after update. App was not opening past the Pin input on iphone 11 after update but resolved after other apps had finished installing.

great app but could use a bit more chrome extension work. app is incredible. very nice single user 1pass replacement. which is important because it permits local vaults. however, the chrome extension can really use some work. it just doesn't work nearly as well as the 1pass extension. its a smaller developer and so don't expect them to have the resources as 1pass has, but hope they get there. they deserve to be rated 5 stars for plugging a necessary feature hole in the market (local vaults) for this kind of software. please support them.

Eh.. Could be more user friendly and less "glitchy". I hate how cranky the user interface is. Also why merge request every few days?

Excellent KDBX implementation. This is one of the few programs, for iOS, and macOS that is a must have, especially if one is dealing with more than one OS, and needs to have passwords available via a KDB file on Windows or Linux as well. It interoperates perfectly with other platforms, and works quite well. The biggest thing is that it supports 2FA TOTP codes, which is a great help.

Brilliant KeePass Manager. So much to love from this app. Touch ID compatible, auto fill compatible, diceware password generation, iCloud storage, and a family plan! Also, the fav icon feature is just a nice perk. My husband and I use strongbox on Mac and iOS and thanks to iCloud support it is a breeze to ensure all our passwords are synced up across devices. If strongbox were available on windows I would use it there as well, but for now I am content to use KeePass2 to view the database. A polished product and well worth the money, especially if you already use a KeePass database and are looking for an iOS(or Mac) manager. The only thing I was slightly disappointed in was that the family plan is not shared between iOS and macOS. But, a dev’s gotta eat. Would love to see an incentive in the future for a discount on one OS if you already bought the family plan on the other. Food for thought.

Best Password Manager on iOS! 🔑🔒🏆. I’ve searched far and wide and FINALLY found the app I was looking for. A reliable, easy to use and universal password manager. I’ve trialed just about every related app on the App Store and none fit the specs I was looking for just as perfect as StrongBox did. Main features that make it noteworthy: Optional subscription fee (one time, very reasonable price) Family Sharing option Easy to use data entry New Password creation Local or cloud storage/backup Cross platform compatibility - I sync my KeePass database to iCloud Drive, easily openable with KeePass on Windows via iCloud Drive installed. Updated frequently! Incredible support with fast responses! And much more! I would highly recommend Strongbox over every password manager on the App Store! Great work dev(s)!! Thank you very much!

Really great. Just wish there was an Apple watch app

Superb feature set and frequent updates. TL;DR: a fantastic iOS password manager. Auto-sync, speedy even with large databases and with a boatload of features including for us advanced users. The developers are extremely responsive and keep everything in good working order with frequent bug fix updates and new features. Worth the lifetime license (which is what I was desperately seeking after 1Password went subscription). Earlier this year, I was looking to move away from 1Password and their online vaults and new subscription model. I ultimately decided on something KeePass-compatible. Within that category, Keepassium and Strongbox are basically the only serious contenders, and Strongbox is superior for several key reasons (details below). Deciding factors: Ultimately I chose Strongbox over Keepassium for two major reasons. 1. Strongbox is more memory-efficient. My database is almost 5M and Keepassium would sometimes run out of memory. Strongbox handles my library well: it’s speedy and responsive. 2. Merge sync! I modify my database on multiple devices on a daily basis and sync using iCloud. My understanding of Strongbox features is that, instead of uploading/downloading the entire database, Strongbox will only read/write the elements that have changed. This is an indispensable feature if you use multiple devices! (Both Strongbox and Keepassium are both excellent in the way they handle network disruption. Online or offline, things “just work”.) Pro tip: Use KeePassXC to migrate from your 1Password vault to a KeePass-compatible vault WITHOUT having to export all your 1Password stuff to an unencrypted format.

Immaculate. This app and it’s developer are amazing! It’s entirely open source, seamless when transitioning to macOS and the Google drive sync allows me to use whatever else I want on other machines. Genuinely one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I hope the developer continues their excellent work, I’ll be sure to try and support them even after my lifetime purchase.

Great for Multiple OS Users. I've been a KeePass user on my PC for almost a decade but having taken the leap a few years ago to an iPhone and strugging for far too long I'm happy to have found StrongBox. Previously on my Mac I was using KeePassX but development stalled. Yes I could have and did try using mono to run KeePass on my Mac but it was just a pain for daily use. While I've only scratched the surface of features, it has proven its worth so far with just the simplicity of integration between my phone and my Mac. My PC still uses KeePass and the database syncs without issue just as I wanted. I'll update my review once I've had time to dig into the weeds but from what I've seen the developer of StrongBox is quite responsive and that's a HUGE deal and something that shouldn't be overlooked. Best of the Best - Period.. I've been using password managers before there were password managers and we had to write our own. I've tried and used several commercial products for year. Most lacked the features I desired to maximize security and/or were coded offshore. I used to beg for features like local vaults, wifi-syn, customized fields, entry counts, last update records, password history and UI improvments to make the utility fast and easy enough so that the trade off between inconvenience and security was minimized. Strongbox is way out ahead of me with even more advanced features and constant refinments in usabilty that make using the product an absolute joy. Strongbox on MacOS and iOS is so far ahead that whenever I come up with something else it's usually already there! Five Stars for product and Five Stars for support.

Incredible Support & App. The password manager I used to use moved to an electron app for macOS and transitioned into a subscription service. I’m always trying to curtail my subscriptions and avoid using electron based apps when I can, so it was pretty obvious to me it had to go. I bounced around a few other popular services until I eventually discovered Strongbox and I can’t imagine myself going elsewhere. If you’re familiar with quality native macOS apps like BBEdit, Transmit, Alfred, and the like that’s more or less the experience you’ll find here. A well built and well maintained macOS (and iOS!) app that has the support of a small team who care and clearly love what they do. Thank you for working on this app, these types of apps are far and few between. Truly a gem.

Copy password disappeared. I used right click/copy password every day. Now it is buried in an extra menu. It makes logical sense to group the items to be copied, but it is a password manager - of course we are copying passwords 99.9% of the time. Please bring back the separate Copy Password (no big deal if it is also in Copy Field) or make it an option at least for us that use it. This is what I hate about app stores - I now can't go back to the version I liked.

Great .kdbx app. Just bought and it is worth the money. Had some questions and response was rapid and solved my query. Easy to use and like the multiple options available with the pro version. Best password vault for iOS I have used.

A bit pricey but worth the piece of mind.. Family sharing edition is great and this app extends my personal on-premise Keepass solution to my family’s iOS devices.

Love this…seems totally reliable, syncs to WebDAV. I’ve been on a mission to find a replacement for previous password managers, specially as they started becoming subscription based and requires you to use THEIR servers….yuk! Strongbox syncs with with private servers so a) you don’t depend on third parties b) less risk of being hacked (well known sites with hundreds of thousands of customer information are far bigger targets than having to go after individual users) and c) it seems to be rock solid on all my clients. I do wish it had more “organizational” layout support rather than just name/value pairs and a “notes” area but I can live with reliability and privacy

Fantastic Password Manager. For users looking to opt out of Cloud-only and subscription-only password managers, this is the best I've found on any platform. It works great between my iOS and Mac devices and allows me to do all of my syncing locally over my home network rather than storing anything on the cloud, which I see as a big plus. I used 1Password for many many years until they moved to the Cloud and moved to a subscription-only model. I researched many competing solutions before settling on Strongbox, and I'm very glad I did!

Game Changing. I don't write app reviews, but I'm doing so for this one. Huge kudos to the developer of this app. I've spent months researching, reading, and testing a massive list of tools in search of a LastPass replacement - and Strongbox is that and more. It's the perfect blend of security and utility/useability. The dev and their team are responsive to questions and suggestions, and the active folks on their subreddit have been very helpful. The icing on the cake is the offering of a lifetime license versus subscription pricing. And this gets me to the root of this review -- I prefer non-subscription apps because I hate feeling like I'm being held hostage, but subscription products mean steady, stable revenue for developers (especially small teams or independent devs). This is the one and only app I have that I will enthusiastically continue to "tip" the dev for - because it's just that good.

Does not support YubiKey with IPad Pro!. ITs an excellent application, and it does not beg me fore reviews. However, I bought this app because it specifically advertised that it was compatible with yubikeys... I have a key, with a USB-C port that works with my iPad Pro. The app seems to have no means of interfacing to it, though I know the webauth protocol is functioning just fine on other apps. When this is corrected, I will be delighted to raise my review to 5 stars. Until then, one is all you get. I have high hopes that I’ll be able to update my review soon.

Great version !. I have been using KEEPpass for years. This is the best tool to access it that I have seen.

This app has all of the encryption you could ever want/need.. Support is super fast on responding to your questions, even before you purchase it. For me that’s a huge plus. Shows they take pride in their work. I’ve had a few other DataVault apps, but not as secure as this one or received support as quickly. So if anyone is looking for security/peace of mind that your information is secure check it out. Easy to use.

Best I Found. I've been using some type of keepass database for as long as I've been maintaining passwords and as time passed I found less and less cross platform unity. On Mac things were one way on iOS another. I even paid for full versions of password managers which were discontinued. Seriously considered cross platform alternatives like 1Password, Dash Lane, etc., but couldn't wrap my brain around not having any control over the actual data, their cloud and retention policies, etc. Also dispised the ever increasing monthly fees. When comparing Strongbox I was super impressed with it's robustness and features. No problem at all sharing the database or app with family members. Already spread the word amongst my friends and some have already transitioned away from their password managers. Well done Strongbox team!

Goodbye 1 Password. Pretty happy with the transition but it’s not as intuitive as I’d like. However it is feature rich and I am still learning its intricacies more than a month in. The database doubling up after an export is a bit confusing but can easily be deleted. Would like a place to put notes and non login credentials so I’ll keep my fingers crossed for that. Pretty bummed there isn’t a windows app as I’m transitioning to windows from a Mac so I’ll have to figure that out. Overall, I’m happy to be here. Cheers!

Perfect!. New Strongbox user here. Left another app because it had an annoying bug that hasn’t been fixed in over a year. Strongbox is great! Everything I need…just works. There are no surprising things that don’t work correctly, and no weird screen display issues. All the menus are easily understood and easy to find. It’s clear that the devs put a lot of careful thought into it. Thanks so much for this awesome app.

You can stop looking.... We have Strongbox Pro on our iPhones and Macs (separate purchase needed) and I can tell you this app is, hands down, the best! I used to use Keepass. I then tried to access it on an iPhone - had to start using mini-Keepass. Well that was OK, but not great. My wife, who's Ok technically speaking, didn't use strong passwords hardly at all because that mini-Keepass was just too hard to use. With this app (and face-id), she uses it all the time! We keep our database file in icloud (shared) and we both enjoy the ability to open the same file regardless of which device we're on. We are now starting to auto-generate our passwords for a lot of sites that require accounts. You don't need to remember dozens or hundreds of passwords anymore. I know there are features I haven't mastered yet, but I hope to soon. If you value your security - get this - AND - apply multi-factor on everything you can. Thank you for this wonderful tool. Managing access to our sites would be super painful without something like this!

Completely Satisfied. I have been through many password programs over the years. Some were good but disappeared. Others were good but took directions that didn’t suit me. I like Strongbox as much as any of those previous ones at their finest moments. In fact, I have been very impressed with its attention to detail. I sure hope it lasts, and stays as good (for me) as it is now.

Great 1Password Alternative - Very Happy. I was a longtime user of 1Password, and really depended on its functionality. I was not happy, though, when they decided to prevent the use of local vaults and then moved onto a non-native client for Mac. Since I was a heavy 1Password user, storing attachments and using custom fields, I thought the move to a different password manager was going to be difficult. I was wrong, the transition to Strongbox was incredibly easy. The UI is excellent, and the migration from 1Password to Strongbox was seamless. I waited to write this review until I had some time to use Strongbox. Its been several months now, and I am extremely happy I made the decision to switch to Strongbox. The only feature that is really missing, is plugins for other browsers. That is not an issue for me since the app is so easy to use, has a great UI, and offers password autofill using the native api, like the built in Mac password manager uses. I have tested the complex Strongbox password databases I have on Windows, with KeePassXC, and it works perfectly. I am thrilled that Strongbox offers such a great experience, using an open source cross-platform database format, and allowing me to keep my data under my control - but still very accessible. Thank you Strongbox team for such a great experience!

Thank you. Import from bitwarden/enpass works well! Really like the balance of simplicity with a ton of features if needed. Very fast performance, and love how small the vaults are. Passkeys work well, as well as biometrics and totp. I like the mobile UI also, A hopefully windows soon, it is the only thing thats missing at this point.

Very nice replacement for 1Password. When 1Password switched to subscription only, I went on a hunt for a replacement. Strongbox handles (almost) all of the functionality I used from 1Password, with the exception of credit cards. My favorite feature of Stronbox: its ability to use self-hosted SFTP storage. The developer is very responsive to questions and suggestions. I'm looking forward to buying future versions when the devloper adds compelling features. A much better approach vs. renting software on a monthly basis.

Outstanding. Went from the free version the KPXC without cloud access to the paid version. I love the dice option on the mobile. If it exists on the Pro I will use it religiously the support staff responded within 12 hours for my import issues.

Great product. I’ve used this for a few years now. I absolutely love how easy it is to use. There’s a lot harder things within the app. However it’s so user friendly. I appreciate the creation of this app. I really like how I can just store everything on the device and or upload a copy of it to my computer/or a cloud even. I just wish I could find a notes/cloud type storage exactly like this here. I look. But can’t find one. Overall thank you for this app.

Fits perfectly to my workflow. It‘s a really nice KeePass Manager. I can keep my DB in my owncloud and have access from everywhere. With FaceID very convenient. Didn‘t miss any features yet. Really great app, so I purchased the Pro version after couple month. No regrets! Thanks for this great App!

Enjoying it. I had been using the free version for six months or so before purchasing the family license. Both are well worth it! I love the integration with password management on my iPhone, and support for cloud storage platforms. Makes it so easy to use. Easy enough for me to win the kids over to using a password manager, and that says something.

Excellent value. I used to use 1pwd until they went to SaaS storing info in the cloud. Keepass has come a long way since 10 years ago and strongbox is a superb app for keepass here on iOS. I’ve been using it for over 2 years now and it is worth every penny.

The best. I love the app. Used to have to deal with syncing databases on different systems. This can access most cloud services. The usage and integration into the iOS is great. I don’t usually like to pay a lot for any app, but I paid for the full version because it’s worth it and it’s a necessity.

It just works!. I tried the rest, and had various issues like vault sync and random connectivity issues accessing my vault. Strongbox just worked from day 1, no issues. It could be a bit faster to open my vault when I’m at work (no wifi, 1 bar of mobile service), but apart from that I have no complaints. Highly recommended.

The best way to manage and own your passwords. I’ve used all the big cloud-based managers. I got tired of the increasing costs and limited flexibility and security issues. I found KeePass and decided it might be time to take things into my own hands. Then I discovered Strongbox and the decision was a lot easier to make. This app is beautiful, easy to use, and provides users with a slew of features to enable their own custody over their password databases. Very responsive support team as well!

Best-of-breed KeePass client for iOS. I'll substantiate my claim that this is the best KeePass client from my perspective. Which if you're looking into this, likely aligns with yours. -It pulls directly from storage providers (also supports local storage). Main competitor only uses the Files app, which means relying on additional layers for syncs to occur. You may find yourself forcing a manual sync in OneDrive, Dropbox et al. unless you use Strongbox. My tests with my PC and Strongbox on iOS showed it always staying in sync every time. -Sync test between KeePass on Windows and Strongbox blew the competition out of the water. No one else supports differential sync on iOS except Strongbox. Syncing is the most important part of a KeePass client as it's not an entirely packaged solution like the cloud services. Strongbox just works. -Strongbox Pro is kept up to date with the freemium version. The most important part of software after functionality is maintenance. The competition doesn't do this with their pro version. You get the updates whenever they please, 6 months or more behind the freemium version. The idea is risk mitigation, pro users getting stable builds, and freemium users as test subjects. Unless the changes include a very sensitive part of the codebase which risks potential database corruption, I don't buy that story. -Has an outright purchase option, and in-app lifetime vs the outright purchase has no differences. As mentioned, the pro version is actually kept up to date. I rarely do subscriptions. I donate to another developer that maintains a custom firmware for routers. I appreciate his hard work, and donate for zero recognition. A successful strategy here that may draw more people in would be a thank you list updated every 6 months with current donors. Subscribe if you want to spend some time with this app to be sure. Or if you prefer lump sums, go ahead and buy the lifetime license if I've convinced you. I did the homework for you on this one. Strongbox, it's worth every piece of eight.

Great password manager. I have been using Strongbox Pro for a couple years now and I am very happy with it. I use Keepass on windows and SB Pro on iPhone with my wife. You can tell by the look and feel that the developers put a lot of effort into the UI and functionality. Issues are remedied in a timely manner. (Thanks for fixing the auto fill crashes.) Had issues with syncing using Synology sync task on IOS but it is working well with the latest IOS and Synology Drive updates. The two-way sync works too! I would highly recommend this app to anyone looking for a password manager.

no default markdown. is it possible not to set markdown as the default note format? sometimes notes contain special but meaningful characters

Ipad open speed. Opening the app on ipad is super slow. Slow to load passwords via autofill too. I’m talking like a minute to load. Really was wanting to love this app.
