Useful?. I only learned the exact title of the product and where it was produced. It seems there’s more to gain from the barcode number than this app.

Can’t scan. When I open the app and allow camera access, all I see is grey screen. I can’t scan

It does exactly what it is supposed to, perfect. It’s great! Can’t believe how many other reviews want an app for verifying authenticity to act as google for them. If stupid was a sin we’d all be on fire.

What is this???!. The product is good, but the app, the app... well, it’s trash. It just scans the box and there is just a blank screen? How did it work for other people? This is ridiculous and I do not recommend it.

Absolutely Pointless App. Bought an anti-bark vibration collar for our dog. Instructions given was to download this app and of course, charge the collar. The only thing this app does is show you the item ordered and a short video showing you had to set the collar. It would be nice if you could change the settings within the app as well, but, unfortunately it doesn’t. I just removed the app!

Does exactly what it’s supposed to do. How it work: 1. U scan. 2. U get green check mark? Great your product is authentic and probably not a counterfeit. 3. U get something else? Probably a counterfeit Simple. So dead simple

Another App?. While the product is authentic. I’m failing to see the benefit given the hassle for the execution. I think there’s a better more intuitive way of going about this. More importantly it’s that ANOTHER app has to be downloaded to use it. I was under the impression that all I’d have to do was scan and then boom there it would be but having to have another app on my phone is a hard pass for me.

Didn’t tell me much. Only told me what I purchased. Didn’t tell me where it was from or when it was made. I was just curious and delete.

Does not verify authenticity. So what’s to prevent someone from copying the copier and slapping it on their product? I got a box of fake masks. They started on the box not ASTM level 2 and had a misspelled website printed on the box. But when I scanned the sticker with the app - it assured me the product was a genuine item with ASTM level 2 protection despite the item itself contradicting that. 🤦‍♀️

DrJimmy is right. Apparently the only thing the app does is detects what the product is that the app scans, and provides specifics. There really isn’t any significant reason for downloading this. Transparency doesn’t need to exist. Kind of like MySpace.

No save to watch later if needed. Needs a lot of work because I thought I could watch video later but with no luck. Need to save the scan so if it is actually more helpful you should be able to look at it at a later time. I was going to throw the card and box away except for the instructions. Now I have to keep everything to take up more room or space. This app needs a WHOLE LOT OF WORK to make it better.

Useless. Nothing to do after you get it sure you can scan your items but what next

What’s the point?. I received a gift and wanted to see if this app would yield instructions or explanations of some kind about the product. All it provides is a photograph and name of the product, nothing else. I don’t believe in my case it’s served any value. That being said, as others have noted, The app itself function well. It just doesn’t provide a significant service

Does what it’s supposed to. I now know my iPhone case was made in China just like it says on the box. Nothing wrong with the app. I was curious enough to download it. I think they’ve updated it since the prior review- it works with big screen iPhones perfectly now and if you don’t want to share your location just say don’t allow. But while the reviewer was spot on in highlighting the pointlessness of this app they failed to note the true purpose this app, which appears simply to emphasize the pointlessness of existence itself.

Not Necessary. I thought the app would have preset formatting or setting instructions for margins, etc but it literally just tells you what product you purchased. Kind of pointless imo.

Won’t focus or scan. I cannot get this to scan the barcode. It doesn’t have an option to allow the camera to focus (either manually or automatically. I can’t use this.

Pointless. I downloaded the app out of curiosity, as there was a “Transparency” sticker on the side of a “new” Logitech mouse I purchased from Scamazon. I scanned the sticker with the app, and amazingly the app confirmed what the sticker—and the box—said! Unfortunately, it didn’t change the fact that what I had received was someone’s old, used mouse instead of a new one. So, what is the point of this stupid app? Nothing. It serves only to reassure the easily impressed.

Not useful at all. Waste of time. All it provides is a photo and dimensions of the product. It would have been halfway helpful if it gave production location details like some of the other reviewers experienced, or even the company/manufacturer name. Reviewers have commented that the value lies in being able to confirm authenticity. Those experiences seem limited as the majority, including myself, seem to have received barely any information. Save your time and go right past this app.

Completely worthless. I downloaded the app and scanned the barcode. The barcode was on a standard printable label you can buy from virtually any office supply store. All the app did is show me the product I ordered. As far as I can tell, nothing would stop someone from ordering one legitimate product, making a high-quality scan of the label/barcode, printing 100 copies, and putting them on fake/counterfeit merchandise. Supply chain fraud/integrity is a huge problem globally, but this app doesn’t appear to do anything about it. Save your time and your phone’s storage space.

Please explain.... To me the point of this app? Because it never told me the Authenticity, origins, production date, and more! -the statement it claims to make. It just told me what I read off the box; the name of the product :) greeeaat. I got more info off the product box. I’m sorry but explain to me the use of this app...

I thought this was a remote. I love my LEDs, but I could barely open the remote app and change since I got them because I can’t and I thought the app would help but it didn’t it just tell me what I bought

I’m with the other guy.. Someone said what is the point. I agree. It just shows you a picture and description of the item. If you’re looking for additional info it’s not there. I figured it would have a hyper link to the manufacturer website or something so you can register the item. Might be okay if you believe you’re item is counterfeit but since it gives so little info I would be hard pressed to tell if it was close.

Nothing truly special. Downloaded the app for what I thought were some directions for the utechsmart Venus Pro gaming mouse. Absolutely useless! And a waste of time. There are only features described on this app. Other than that, there is nothing. No programming, no troubleshooting, no tips or tricks on how to get the most out of this item, just descriptions

Serves the product’s creator, not the user. You shouldn’t download and use this. All it does is tell you that your product was made in China or wherever . The problem is it requests to access to your location (just say no) and your location is harvested as data. That’s useful for the people who made the product but not to you.

Doesn't tell info that it's supposed to!. Purchased Frontline Plus and I get same info from box. The app does NOT tell the product dates. It only tells what the item is, manufactured in France and a big list of letters. I want to know when made and when expires!

Completely pointless. All it does is show you a picture of the product and it’s name does not provide any further information

The Why of the App. This app does exactly what it was intended to do. I find it funny that many people don’t see the point. I am an avid boardgamer and there have been LOTS of counterfeit copies of boardgames coming from overseas. This app allows you to confirm that you have the real thing. Since I want my purchases to benefit the creators of these boardgames, I am glad that this exists.

Nothing to do with!. You will scan a barcode and it will shows your product. I bought a screen protector and I thought that it will give me a learning video how to apply it. But as I said first it only shows the name of the product.

Don’t download. It is not worth your time downloading because it only tell you the name of the product which I know it doesn’t even tell you how to connect it to your phone

Never Again. Most obtuse, annoying, and ridiculous app ever. I thought I had to download it in order to use the product I bought I did not It’s a joke.

Pointless. Don’t download this app. You do not get any instructions, warranty information, etc. It will show you an image of what you bought and tell you the product name. There is no service offered, at all.

I had hoped to find…. …warranty information for the Grillman cover I just bought, which has a lifetime guarantee, but no information on how to request replacement. The app told me I bought a Grillman cover.

Great app ngl. Because of this app I knew that the product I ordered is 100% legit and ain’t counterfeit!

Eh. The app doesn’t do anything for me, I can’t figure out why it won’t connect and all the app did was show me the product and “how good it is”. The app is pointless if there isn’t something there to help me with the product. Maybe they should just add a customer service number on the app for people having troubles with the antenna. The box also has nothing for me to work with, the directions are not specific at all and don’t really show anything so I think that should be changed too.

Scans a removable sticker. Some reviewers felt the need to insult the intelligence of anyone who doesn’t get the usefulness of this app. Well what does it do? It scans a sticker which must be scanned only by this app! Let that sink in! In what universe does this authenticate anything? It doesn’t appear to even authenticate the sticker! Where is the control in this experiment?

No point to it. Does nothing except name products that you already know what it is!

It tells you where your stuff was made. If you ever wanted to know where the thing you bought was produced... instead of reading the side of the box you can scan a sticker. Kinda dumb but it works as advertised so can’t rate poorly.

Could be more useful. App is working OK and confirmed authenticity of the product I scanned, but according to Transparency site and app description it could provide manufacturing date which it did not do in my case. Would be nice to have it.

Not much of a purpose. I had to laugh at Dairmud’s comment 3 years before my review in which he buys lots of board games and is terrified of counterfeits. My family has boatloads of board games and has a dedicated room in our home for them. I have never once been worried about counterfeit games, unless you’re buying them from the dark web. Maybe this app works well for folks buying purses, shoes and designer clothes. I think you’re board game purchases are perfectly safe, Dairmud.

Great app. This app is supposed to help customers authenticate products and it does that well. I think most people don’t understand what this app does.

Doesn’t support iPhone X/11/Pro. The app does not support iPhones newer than the iPhone 7, resorting to a letterboxed compatibility mode. In the current year? smh Yet it harvests your location data for no reason. Ultimately, what’s the point of knowing that your latest intimate prosthetic was lovingly injection-molded in Shenzhen three months ago?

Useless App. So… this is the ‘Transparency app’. I thought I can just scan with the Camera app. Was my phone’s camera not transparent enough?

Works, but not sure the purpose?. App certainly does what it’s supposed to do, but I’m not quite sure the purpose of the app. It seems like it’s something to reduce or try and prevent fraud, but I’m not really sure how that would help or work. So nothing against the app, but can only give 3 stars simply because it seems like a completely pointless app. Maybe devs could add some extra info beyond “verifying authenticity”. What does that even mean exactly?

What is the point?. Looking for instructions to install, but there are not. This app was a waste of both developer time and customer time. Deleting now.

Great idea but easy to manipulate. I bought a product from amazon which had the transparency logo. I used the app to verify the product. The product box clearly stated the specifications which showed the product was an older model. But when i checked it with the transparency app, it showed the product to be the new model (which was not sent to me). The seller/manufacturer clearly put the sticker for new model on the box of old model. Extremely disappointed with this find.

Doesn’t deliver what the name suggests. When scanning a QR code the app merely displays the product description, return policy etc. The title of the app led me to believe the info would include provenance, emissions, statement modern slavery, disposal/recycling instructions etc… That would be much more useful than repeating what is already printed on the box.

Pointless. All this app does it take you to the listing page of the item on Amazon. Nothing to do with actually authenticity or transparency. Don’t bother with it.

No purpose. Has no purpose whatsoever, saw a sticker on the box of my monster clarity 102 plus airlinks, my wireless headphones, so I download the app and scanned it, and all it did was tell me what I bought? Idk why it’s a thing, maybe just to get people to download the app for money which is very smart I will admit, anyway if you see this on a box or smth u bought, don’t download it, there’s no rewards or anything important about it

QR code dechiper. It just shows you the product picture and name. No further details are being generated. A perfect example depicting the misalignment of mission statement and market product

Great Idea. Imagine if every product you bought had a code for this app! Very neat idea. After scanning my first product code here, It told me: - what model it is - a video showing how to un box and set up my product - how to use an extra thing that comes with the use of my product - a step by step instruction on how to setup/download/install It was as if IKEA came home with me to tell me about the purchased product and told me how to set it up. 👍🏻

Disappointed. Doesn’t work to scan and now I have a product with no instructions!

The app does not work. It does not connect correctly with the camera, the camera iPhone 15pro max, the camera settings is overexposed, and if I take it to a dark room, the camera will not focus , I tried to delete and reinstall the app without change …

App is terrible. This app never works and never scans codes. Amazon puts so little money into developing an app

MadMarker. I bought a product from Amazon and it had a tag with a QR code on it saying to scan with “Transparency” app. I downloaded the app and scanned the code. It brought up my exact product. I assume it to ensure the product sent was in fact the product received. It’s a good idea! And although I have only used it once, I am a frequent shopper of the site and will be using this often.

It’s only to track who bought it. It’s simple, this app only serves amazon to know who bought what (or has been given what).

Useful to me. This will help verify product when I go to my liquidation Center that has Amazon returns. They usually cover up the original info labels with a new label that has a transparency code. Now il know what phone part I’m looking at. Tomorrow’s dollar day there as well lol

A waste of time, PERIOD!. This app is a waste of space on the App Store. It does not provide any benefit or extra info or verify that the product you scan is authentic. It also looks like it hasn’t been updated in forever! Apple, it’s time to take it off the App Store.

Marketing application. This app is misleading and frustrating. While it claims to offer direct downloads, it’s actually more of a product marketing platform. Instead of immediately downloading the app, you’re redirected to a manual scanner, requiring you to go through multiple steps just to access basic product information. It’s a time-waster, and I would strongly advise against downloading it. If you’re looking for something straightforward, this is not the app for you. Save your time and skip it!

Does not work on iPhone 14 Pro Max at all. This app relies entirely on the camera. However, the app does not use the macro lens at all so it cannot scan barcodes it requires to work.

Doesn't even work. I downloaded the app today (9-21-2023) allowed the app permission to use the camera then placed my phone over the code to scan, nothing. But if I open the actual built-in QR Code scanner on my iPhone it does read it but takes me to those dog pages on the amazon app. So for me this was a complete waste of my precious time when I could've been doing something more productive and I will not get back this lost time.

This is awful.. Pointless. And the manufacturer of the item I purchased made the QR code so small that my phone, which has one of the most advanced cameras on the market, couldn’t even focus to scan it. But that doesn’t change the fact that this app is pointless and has no benefit to the user.

Pointless. I got a card in with the QR code thinking screw it can’t hurt nothing. Downloaded the app and your better off taking pictures with a potato. I have the iPhone 15 pro so there shouldn’t be any problem.

Insults my intelligence. Confuses many people.. I am actually a seller on Amazon and we’ve had issues with counterfeiting. So, despite it not really mattering to me if my set of screwdrivers was ‘real’ or not I downloaded the app to see if we could use this ourselves. Now, there’s one easy way this software could have worked and made a lot more sense - if it showed me some sort of serial number (generated by the manufacturer) and told me if that serial number had ever been scanned before. That would tell me 1) that I’m not using an item that’s been returned and 2) that it is probably not fake. Since it doesn’t do either I have no way of telling that somebody didn’t just copy the sticker and stick it on. If someone had done that then I’d expect it to say ‘this was scanned 100 times and is fake’. And perhaps it *could* have done that. The help feature inside the app completely insults my intelligence by not making no attempt whatsoever to explain the way this technically works (or is intended to work). And finally, the sticker itself has extremely small text and doesn’t imply in any way what it’s for (I’m smart so I guessed but clearly MANY people have no clue). And why can’t it be a QR code that at least helps me install the app? And it doesn’t even have the product name on it! Terribly thought out and a huge wasted opportunity.

There’s no point!. I’ll save you time…here’s what the app will tell you: “yup, this item is something that’s for sale on Amazon. Please go to Amazon to buy it”.

It tells you what your product is. lol. I suppose having a Transparency QR code is assuring to some customers that they’ve bought an authentic product. But since so little information is provided, I’m not sure it’s actually useful. After scanning, expect to see a green check mark and “Your product is: [product name]” If you tap “Learn More” it says: “The Transparency app allows you to scan enrolled products to verify their authenticity. Some participating products may also display additional information such as videos, promotions, or the product’s manufacturing date or location.” Yes, I would like to know more about where my products are made. I would like to be able to easily verify that the workers who make the products I buy are receiving fair wages and working in safe environments, and having their needs met, and their human rights protected. I want to spend my money wisely, but I don’t want to give any money to companies that exploit workers with disregard for human rights, or commit forgery of patented designs or intellectual property. How ethical is the manufacturer? How genuine is the product? Since volunteering such additional information is optional for companies, it seems this system is not very effective. This is not the definition of “transparency”.

Hilariously niche app. I normally don’t write reviews, however, I laughed my butt off when I figured out this was a board game authenticator app. This app is for a very small, stringent, and esoteric ilk of people, who apparently take their board games extremely serious.

Should customers really be whom verifies the purchased items from Amazon?. Counterfiet household products, jewelry, makeup, fragrances, clothes, and most concerning fake over the counter medicines, supplements / vitamins. Who knows what you are actually getting from even Amazon as seller. I still buy from Amazon, but never anything to do with health or hygiene, seems way too risky now with all the Counterfiet items running through Amazon warehouses getting mixed with genuine as has been proven to be a common occurance. Forget that noise, you need shampoo and vitamins, best to get them from local drugstore, avoid those risks all togrther.

If there’s some safeguard against that, you won’t learn it from the app, because the app says nothing about that. Also, it wouldn’t scan the pristine bar code on the front. I finally noticed a QR code on the side. A decent app would have pointed the user to the QR code, but this isn’t a decent app, it’s Transparency.

Does not work on product sold by Amazon. Bought a Braun shaver head. Sold by and shipped by Amazon. Product has the Transparency sticker on the back. Downloaded Transparency app on iPhone from Apple App Store. App would not read the sticker. Either App is bad or product is counterfeit. Hmmmm

Garbage app. Why Amazon has to develop their own app to read their products bar cafe is beyond me. The app is garbage and any QR reader worked 100x better. No instructions show up to assist you, so my vote is “No” to this senseless app.

Meh. So according to another review the way this app works is by showing a green check if your product is authentic & no green check if it’s not. Okay…but how would this stop sellers of fake products from printing & sticking the transparency app QR code on their products? I get the concept but it needs to be fleshed out more. When you scan a product there needs to be more than just the name, picture, and description of the product you bought which you already read on the site you purchased it from. Doing your own research on the legitimacy of things you want to buy online will be much more worth your time instead of downloading this app.

Maybe helpful in the future..?. Unsure really of the need for this app with my keyboard purchase… but thanks?

Can’t scan with my iPhone 14. App is unusable. Can’t scan code because the camera won’t focus on QR code! Fix your code to work with the camera. I wish I could send screenshot of what the scan looks like.
