Push Notifications are weak - There’s a learning curve. Initially, I was going to give a 4 star rating. After learning the app, it works relatively well, for the most part. However, one of the reasons to have a security system is to be alerted and aware of threats. If I’m being harassed and want to get the drop on a potential threat, this system doesn’t do a good job at grabbing my attention, so I docked it 2 stars for that. Adding a night watch alarm would be a good idea. Having the developer push a quick patch to add customizable Notification tones would be a good start. - I want my security alert to be different than Facebook Messenger. I want something to immediately let me know it’s security. I want a special, obnoxiously loud tone to wake me from dead slumber when a sensor triggers while I’m sleeping. I needed a system in a pinch, so not much time to research. I thought it had everything I needed, but had I known this fatal flaw existed, I might have purchased something else.

Great cameras, disappointing APP!. Had I know the phone app would be terrible I wouldn’t of purchased the cameras. You can’t do half the things on the app that we can do on the actual monitor. For example, it’ll be nice to continuously monitor WHILE ALSO recording any movements. It’s even more frustrating when I get alerts of movement but takes such a long time for the cameras to load and I can’t playback unless I download the whole video, so it becomes pointless. I’ve tried to download the videos on the app while connected to WiFi and it’s impossible. One time I let it sit there for 15 minutes and not 1% would download. The default setting for the cameras also is busted. I would like to see all 4 of my cameras when I open the app, but instead it always goes back to the first one. What is the point of the cameras if I can’t monitor or playback videos on the app? That’s the whole point of a security cameras, to monitor in real time. Not have to drain my battery and data just to playback some video. I’ve had the system for 2 weeks and I’m ready to return it to switch to another with a better friendlier app.

Hasn’t worked for about a week. We have 3 of these systems at our daycare centers to ensure the kids safety. The app now only works for all 3 of them when on the local wi-fi. The centers are in different cities and have different internet providers. Clearly, it is a Night Owl Issue. I tried to contact technical service to be 26th in line an after 30 minutes, I was still 20th. At this rate, I would have been waiting over another 1.5-2 hours. I have rebooted all 3 system, removed and relogged in on my phone, her phone, 2 iPads, and the CMS program on 2 laptops. It waits for awhile saying connecting and then offline for all 3 systems. We also rebooted all 3 DVR’s. Night Owl is putting people at risk. We get these camera’s for safety. We got ours for the safety of children. It also monitors who is at the door during this pandemic to reduce interaction between people. This has been going on for close to a week. If it is not one thing it seems to be another. No monthly fee is nice, but people’s health and safety is more important to us. It seems like that is not important to Night Owl. This is not a glitch. A glitch does not linger this long. Glitches and excuses seem to be a continual problem with Night Owl. Solutions and getting their device to work as advertise is also a problem. Excuses and apologizes seem to be their specialty.

This App needs to be resolved ASAP!!!!!!!!. To developer!! Please Stop apologizing and fix it already!!!! HORRIBLE APP!!!!!!! This very frustrating when you depend on this especially when you’re out of town or just away for something... this is unacceptable you guys as a developer haven't had an app update for almost a year! Same crap over an over!!!! What’s going on with this app? it seems to be Black screen on the app please fix this ASAP! It works one day the next days it’s all black screen I don’t understand? my Wi-Fi is connected full reception????? The app opens up to the cameras so when I click on the individual channel it’s all black/blank screen please fix the app!!!!!!!ASAP!!! WILL NEVER PURCHASE THIS CAMERA SYSTEM AGAIN! I DO NOT RECOMMEND NIGHT OWL CAMERA SYSTEM TO ANY FEATURE BUYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go with night owl don’t buy a nest or any crap product get NIGHT OWL. I appreciate all the work you guys have and put into development of yalls product. Ever since I got my system and got it set up it’s always worked for the majority of the time. I used to have minor issues with remote viewing if I hadn’t been on my WiFi network for a while but as time has went on I get happier and happier with my app and system. It has done nothing but get better and better and I hope that things continue to just improve! I have many ideas I could give y’all for added little bonus app features that I think would be very useful but none the less you’ve made a life long customer out of me!! Very satisfied and to anyone looking at those nest door bell cams and the other cheapos on the market DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THEM. Spend the extra little bit for the customer support, quality and integrity that night owl has in its product. I’m just a regular guy and I’ve had my 4 cam wnvr system for a couple years or something like that and I’m truly shocked at the improvements they’ve continued to make and in today’s world you don’t see that very often. Happy holidays night owl thank ya for providing me a reliable way to film the idiot thieves trying to steal my packages off the porch. (Btw the two way audio on the cameras really comes in handy when they try to do that) 😂🤣🤣

Trash app. The app worked fine for live viewing. All of a sudden, i checked the app to look at the cameras and it logged me out. I’ve been trying to log in with the same log in information I’ve been using for years and it says “account not found” “make sure you have connection to the internet.” Tried resetting the password and put in my email but apparently it doesn’t exist. I could never check previous recordings on app, only on the monitor where the dev is set up. Trash. Trash system. It’s so frustrating! From one moment of working fine to another where it logged me out and can’t log back into the app no matter what I do! I keep getting the same messages! Go with a different product, I don’t recommend night owl.

No stars, Terrible App. I’ve had the cameras less than a week. I bought them because I was going out of state and left my oldest child home alone (15 as it was a quick travel) felt the need to have my child & home protected. First 2 days app worked fine. Suddenly I’m getting motion notifications I get in the app to see what’s going on and I’m unable to view anything. I go to my setting to check on devices and it says no devices saved, but while doing this I keep getting notifications. I get back to the cameras still unable to view anything wait a few minutes, get out the app, get back in and still nothing. Later that day I noticed I’m getting no notifications it went on for the next 2 days. As I’m pulling up my front yard I start receiving notifications. THIS APP US WORTHLESS, I DON’T RECOMMEND TO ANYONE! Instead of bringing peace it brought lots of frustration as we do rely on the system to be our eyes and ears while where out & about.

Waste of time and money. The app gets a one star only because I can’t give a 0. It’s a 50/50 chance that the cameras even load to see them, most of the time they don’t load of only one or 2 load. A lot of the time it logs out and I can’t even log back in because “check your network”. I would have been better off with dummy cameras because these ones are almost constantly recording and sending notifications. So much so that I had to turn the notifications off, probably 10 notifications a minute. Even with the sensitivity turned all the way down, no difference. I wish I would have spent more money and for better quality. I would return these to Costco but my husband spent an entire day installing them all and it would be a waste to tear it all out and start over. Trust these bad reviews.

Buy literally anything else!. This app has never worked correctly since I purchased the system in 2019. Every iOS update, the cameras wouldn’t work. Every other time I open the app one of my four cameras is “offline”. The playback features is horrible. You have to download a one hour video clip to your phone to be able to watch what is going on because the motion detection doesn’t pick things up more than 10 feet away. I had high hopes. I wanted this system to work so badly! I have purchased cheap dirty Santa gift security cameras for friends that work better than this $500 system! I’m more disappointed than anything else that they don’t even try to make it right with their customers. Fix your app, fix your user interface, and fix your customer service and I will rate this more stars. But until then, I can’t go higher than one star.

PLEASE UPDATE THIS APP! It’s broken!!. Like so many other reviews mention - THIS APP IS BROKEN. The developers have not updated in a year or more. All my other apps update weekly or monthly. It is obvious this product - which is still sold on shelves advertising a certain level of service - cannot fulfill what they sold us. I feel ripped off. So many people are telling you that live feed does not work in the app. IT DOES NOT WORK. I get an alert and click on it and notihing happens. It doesn’t matter if I am on the same wifi as the hard drive, or if I have full bars cellular service. It used to work and now does not work. I can go back and watch motion recordings but not view live. It’s almost worthless. Please I’m begging you to have a developer figure out the problem and solve it for the people who you promised a service to. Need testers? Reach out to these people in your one star reviews. BUYERS BEWARE

Was nice at first. We have had our cameras for 4 years now and the first 2 years were great. Then things started going downhill. First they wouldn’t alert us to anything no matter the settings, fixed that. Then the views would take forever to show on the app, fixed that. NOW we can’t watch playback on the app past 9:45 am on any given day. If we want to watch playback for after that time we have to go out and log into the main and find what we want. Very irritating since this is just a recent issue (when I say recent I mean the past full 2 years). We are looking to trash these and go with a ring or something more reliable. Yes we are on the same wifi as the modem/router. Yes we were able to view playback 24/7 from the app in the first 2 years and YES we restarted, logged out, logged in and deleted and reinstalled the app.

Poor overall quality in an app. I am very frustrated with this app and the camera system as a whole. At first this setup (Cameras and app) would communicate with no problems. I have had this setup for just over 6 months and am currently having constant problems. The app will shut off on its own at random and the play ack feature is not working anymore. As soon as I attempt to view a previous video, the app closes. I can’t access my setup when I am away from home as the app tells me that my system is not connected or again the app will close. I am using and iPhone 11 Pro with 256 gigs and unlimited data on T-Mobile. My home portion of the setup is connected to Spectrum with 200 gig service via a hardwire connection. Makes no sense to me why I have to be on my own wifi to use the app and actually see the cameras. May just resort to selling this system on ebay as a used item and buy me a better camera system with a more reliable app to view them.

Night Owl. I love the system as the cameras are of great quality, pretty easy to install, and manage through settings. However, the application is rough. I have a new iPhone and the app works for short period of time and then it won’t connect for long periods of time. When I say long periods of time I’m referring to 3-5 weeks. I’ve had the cameras for over a year. You really need to invest in developers to enhance your user experience. Also, add on cameras are too expensive. You should also consider offering a flood light camera to your repertoire and a corner bracket to install two cameras facing two different directions. I would also recommend a push to talk feature and a siren or alert option. It would be a great deterrent for emergency situations. I love the quality of your cameras, but you should really consider consumer suggestions. I think your company could win the market if you had a quality app and other less expensive add on products. My neighbors have Swann and Loren cameras and they are ok, but not as good as my Night Owl 8.0 4K system.

Terrible app. UPDATE PLEASE. The app hasn’t been working since I updated to iOS13. And the bugs from my LAST review have yet to change. PLEASE ACTUALLY WORK ON AND FIX THE ERRORS THAT THIS APP HAS INSTEAD OF COMMENTING THAT TECHNICIANS ARE WORKING ON IT WHEN NOTHING HAS CHANGED! I just installed my Night owl x cameras and they work fine. Just having problems bringing my playback videos up from when their’s motion. I have 500+ videos saved but I have to keep refreshing the list in order for me to see the most recent video. Also, The clock records an hour ahead on my app but has the correct time on monitor. I received notifications about Motion and when I click on it, it doesn’t bring me to the video showing that their was motion happening. I also adjusted my sensitivity and marked the areas that I don’t want to record motion but it still seems to catch motion. Also, when I click on some of my playback videos it’s just a black screen and a messages pops up saying “the video is finished playing” when nothing played it “connection timed out, try again later.” I hope a possible update may help these problems get solved. The cameras are great just needs a lot of work on the app. Please get back with me.

Stressed. Tried to send a review and it wouldn’t let me....trying again. Guess it’s bc the review was so bad. Don’t download bc it’s no good! App worked for a few days then nothing. Chatted, called several times, emailed....no resolution. Tried deleting, reinstalling several times but it gives me messages saying account already exists...no kidding. I could go on and on. I’m so stressed that I told hubby to take the whole system back to the store and get another brand. We’ve only had it a week. I’m so stressed bc I needed the phone app when I’m away bc we have been robbed and I thought I could have this app for security while I’m away. Not gonna happen, I guess. It’s a waste. Worse app ever!!!! **Adding to my review....tech support has been unable to resolve my problem. I have talked to several techs, chatted with one, emailed (no response). I have deleted app, reinstalled...still get messages that acct already exists!! Try to reset password and don’t always get an email to reset for some reason. When I do, reset pw and still can’t log in. Acct already exists...I am so done with this app and Night Owl support. What a waste of $$....purpose for getting security system is defeated. It’s going back.

Worst update ever. The settings to view default camera doesn’t not work. When I open the app I only see one camera then have to switch manually to see more cameras views. No matter how many times I save the setting everything I open on see one camera. Who ever made this update and approved it needs to be fired. I see hundreds of bad reviews of the update yet nothing has been fixed. Also says can’t view someone else is in playback. I’am the only one who has access to my camera. Also I can’t even take one of the cameras of notification anymore. App takes a long time to load, some playback view only does the 15 don’t refresh. I’ve contacted Tech support and their response it’s your internet or WiFi, it’s a bunch of bull the system is thing hooked up too the WiFi, it’s this update. Also asked how can someone be in playback and if they can tell me if there is another person logged in they said no but there is a max of 3 devices that can be logged in. My phone is the only log on. Such crap tech service and security system. Going to have to buy a different brand camera system as this flaw is a security risk not to be able to see all cameras at default sign in and someone else in playback. I’ve contacted

Horrible play back. We have multiple stores that have night owl cameras. So, this app was a way for us to be able to do playback for when we cannot go to a location that’s several hours away to watch video. I’ve tried several times to watch playback on a video. It will allow me to see the “preview” but when I click on the video it only shows a black screen. And when I need to talk to a customer service representative I need to be near the device. On a separate occasion I stayed on the phone with customer service for over 2 hours one day trying to fix where it was only pulling up two weeks worth of video but at the location it was showing at least 4 weeks. It wasn’t fixed that day but it’s corrected it self since then. Now, It will not do playback. And this has been going on for at least 3 weeks and hasn’t corrected itself. It’s just very frustrating.

Finally Fixed! Now the app view is Live!. A few months ago when I bought these cameras I was underwhelmed at how the “live feed” of this app worked. It basically didn’t. When you had the view set to 4,6, or 8 Camera feeds the screens would refresh every 10 seconds. Only when you selected one individual Camera would you get a true live feed. This was frustrating because the a simultaneous live feed worked perfect on my pc and Mac, but the iPhone app was truly crippled. Last night I received the latest update and it’s fixed! Now it the app always shows a live feed when viewing multiple streams. Really nice when I want to login and check on my dogs and house. A+++ For future updates I would really like the app to be able to record motion detection alerts. I frequently get alerts throughout the night but it’s too cumbersome to plug in into the main drive, download the footage and match it with the alert time on your phone. A screenshot would even be a good idea.

Buyer Beware. UPDATE: So I just opened the app today to check on some motion that my Ring doorbell camera alerted me to, and my device doesn't even show up, I can’t see any of my cameras and its like I just installed the app for the first time. Completely disappointed with this app. ————— I really wish I had done more research before buying this system. An 8 camera system that seems to work only when its wants to, a power supply that was dead out of the box, and I had to jump through hoops to prove their device was faulty - but a look at the reviews on their own website shows defective products isn't just an occasional problem. And lastly its an app that takes FOREVER to open on an iPhone 8, and when it does finally open theres only a 50/50 chance that the cameras will actually show anything but a black screen. Worthless equipment, worthless software with customer service to match. I can't wait to replace the system as soon as I can.

Good cameras, horrible app please fix. UPDATE: Doesn’t appear to really work with iOS 13. Cameras take forever to load, if they even load at all. Streaming the cameras live only updates every 10 seconds (locally and remotely) which is pretty much useless. Playback works less than half the time, I usually get a blank image and the app then says “the video has finished playing.” I had a Swann system at my previous house and the app wasn’t great but it was far better than this, considering returning this and going back to Swann, especially since based on other reviews, they aren’t really interested in fixing these problems, they just say that they will forward your message on and nothing is actually done about it. With the amount of other options that are out there I would think that they would want to fix these issues. I would currently not recommend this system to someone and would advise them to spend their money elsewhere.

Updated: Not working since iOS 13.1 update. It may load one or two of the cameras after many minutes of waiting, but it's a long wait and not all of them will load at once. Solutions I tried: reinstall app on the phone, shutdown and restart phone, shutdown and restart night owl, shutdown and restart WiFi router... All to no avail. It did work ok (but not great) before.. Now it's just a frustration. Update: It took a couple weeks, and a couple more updates by Apple to the iOS, and now it works really well. It now has a much shorter wait time than before for loading of the videos, and they are good quality. Changed this to four stars.. no complaints now.

Great quality small issues. First of all, I went to the website and there was no place for me to leave my feedback to help improve your product, that was disappointing. We just got these cameras for a great deal on Black Friday, installation was easy, camera quality is amazing, and it is very easy to view on several devices. Cons: the dumbest things set off the “motion sensor” like shadows from birds flying, spider webs, little bugs, and wind blowing small corners of plants. Yet, when the internet guy came to my house his huge van pulling into my driveway didn’t alert a “motion” and it barely sensed him walking up to my door. I will have to record continuously unfortunately. Also, while viewing the play back, you guys REALLY need fast forward/rewind buttons on the app! Please! Especially since I’m going to have to continuously record. Also, not sure how to delete unwanted false motion sensed videos. Thank you!

App doesn’t work after initial connection. This app does not work after after its initial setup. Once I close the app and reopen at a later time it will only say “connecting” but never actually does. I will get motion detection notifications but entering the app directly from the notification on my lock screen will bring me to the proper camera but never has any actual video feed. I’ve tried to restart both my phone and the monitoring system multiple times. I’ve also tried it on multiple apple devices (iPad and two iPhones different generations) all have the same useless result. I would not recommend this system simply because I cannot watch my system remotely. This remote viewing was a big part of the purchase selection. I have the same result using the HD version of this app also.

disappointed and worried 😳. I am very concerned with my privacy it seems to me that these people are monitoring the cameras of the clients and taking personal information such as images etc, many times it happens to me like now May 12, 2020 I have been unable to connect to the server for 2 days and this application crap has downloaded it more than 10 times and nothing yet. To top it off, call technical support and after trying several steps, the girl who answered me said that they are working on the application, "ok" but because she did not tell me before 🤔 that is suspicious and I'm going through a job that nobody imagines for that these people come to be inventing with customers. 👀 If tomorrow I do not have the cameras working correctly on my mobile, I will look for a lawyer to see what can be done about it, and if tomorrow everything is fine, I will erase all this. think about it !!!!!

Tried 2 other brands, this system beats them both.. Ive tried two other brands of which has a long necked bird as their logo. It wasnt user friendly. Being i was broke in by those 2 brands maxe this one very easy & definatly user friendly. Night owl’s tech support is great too. I used the tech support chat option & she had me back on track. If your internet drops youll need to contact them & theyll steer you the right way. It has a few small & very minor quirks because of me needing ro repeat that process each time i have to disconnect the internet from it but all in all, much clearer, sharper & higher grade nv or it seems to be. Picks up much better. & their notifications caused by movement works. Thanks for a great product.

Update. So you just said you update this and try to make it better but it still crashes all the time and I haven’t seen many updates in the past 2 years I’ve had it. Every other app on my phone updates atleast once a month. I don’t think you guys care to make the app better or fix problems with it. Mind you I paid $500 bucks for it and got a system worth to me $50 bucks. Feel like I could of went with anyone else for half the cost and had a better system. It’s now 2020. This app is so out of date for user use. Why don’t we have a scroll bar to skip around a play back for a video? I try and show a cop play back of what someone did and we have to sit there for 10 mins and watch the whole clip and wait to see what happened. Look up neat or anyone else and see what they did for there app cause it’s 100 times better. I’m now to the point of trashing this system for a nest system because of the many different things you can do threw there app even zooming in on videos. Quit being lazy guys and fix simple features that should of came out when the system came out. You would think you would want to fix your 1 star for the app?

Crashes all the time. i returned my night owl $499 valued system just because its poor mobile application. NOT Worth buying. 1. App crashes often. 2. Takes too much time to load video, if you complaint this then they will tell you that check internet speed, i have comcast 200mbps plan at store and at home but still app need 5 to 10 seconds to load. 3. once loaded, default quality is SD and once you switch to HD, you can see blur on entire screen. 4. If you are playing older recorded videos, you CAN NOT zoom it or you CAN NOT Fast Forward or Rewind it. 5. There are two steps you have to do if you want to download any older recordings. First you have to click on Download but it will not download in your device, it will just copy it to your account album. To download it you have to go to Saved Album on app and then click again to save . If you were able to reach this far without cradhing then also video will not be able to download because on save to device process , app will crash for sure. 6. Once you watch live video at full screen , if you CAN NOT switch to second camera just by swipe right or left, you have to go back and then select second camera.

APP doesn’t work away from home. I have been trying to use the app all day. I finally got it to sort of work on wifi. 1) I walked out of my house went on cellular and lost the feed. Walked around the block to see if it would work and still nothing. Got home restarted the system and got the feed back. It is pointless to have to be on the same connection. I need to be able to see what is going on when I am not at home! 2) Only my “wired” cameras are showing on the app. I have tried everything restarting reinstalling etc. Again it shouldn’t be this hard, and after reading the previous reviews I would have figured you would have fixed these issues over the last two years. :(

Seriously… WORST app ever. Add one more that hasn’t worked since Saturday middle of the night. You’d think they’d have it fixed by now… but this is the company that has known about all the things wrong with their app, and is too lazy to ever fix them. Our business is in a location with nonstop problem activity and need a camera system that works! They had a TRUE “hd” app for the iPad… after an update over a year ago it was gone and it was switched out with the garbage of an app for the iPhone. The old iPad app would switch to hd view the second you tried. This iPhone one only switches to hd when it wants to. I once spent like 5 minutes trying to get it to switch to hd. And when it finally does go to hd, it’s just a big mess of pixels with movement on the screen. This last Saturday when it went down was the last straw. Gave them until yesterday (Monday August 16th) to fix it, then I was going to go get a new system. I did and I am SO happy to say I will not have to deal with this blood pressure rising app anymore. Save your fake automated apology response. If you really cared, you would have fixed all this crap that everyone has given you one stars for.

Needs to be better. It’s a decent app, it definitely should be a lot better since we are using these cameras to monitor and protect our home. My playbacks worked for about 5 days and and all the sudden I can’t download or watch any playback just stays on a black screen, that’s pretty irritating because I can’t see what my animals are doing while I’m away at work. I haven’t updated to iOS 13 because I know this app has issues with it, but even in iOS 12.4 I’m still having these issues. My audio also isn’t working at all, I’ve reset the cameras allowed microphone access to my night owl app and still I can’t use my two way audio. I’ve tried to watch playbacks and use my mic off my windows 10 laptop also, still nothing. I like my cameras, but there are a couple important things that needs to be fixed asap.

Disconnects device. Constantly. 😣. I want to love this app, but every time I close the screen (not even the whole app), my device disconnects and I only see black screens in the live view. I have to delete/remove device then reconnect Every Time. Customer service just walks me through deleting and re-adding the device to “fix” the problem. This defeats the purpose of the app if I have to reinstall the device/cameras every time I want to see where motion is detected - live or recorded. And the notifications are glitchy. I get them when the toggle is “off” and don’t get them when I want them. And I get notifications that motion is detected, but my device won’t connect to show me the view. 😣 We Love the main tv live view and recordings. Only thing reliable about the app, however, is it’s unreliability. 😔 i hope it’s updated and fixed soon!

Frustrating. I would like to view the app in 1 column (2 cameras at a time, landscape). Why won't it save my selection? Under the option pull down I go to views and make my selection. There is no save button only Done. If I click done it will show the proper view... however if I navigate anywhere else on my phone and come back to the app I have to go through the whole process again. I would love for the app to auto save my settings so it is the same view next time I open the app. Edit: this app is basically useless on my phone... I can't get any of my cameras to load. I get a motion detection notification so I click over to the app to see what's going on. I usually wait a few minutes to see video... and nothing. So I spend a couple more minutes checking and readjusting all my setting (cause the app won't save any setting). Then after 5-10 minutes of screwing around with the app I give up. Whoever was breaking in would already be gone by now anyway... pretty frustrating. Edit: I feel like this app just stopped working... I can no longer even get a live video to load. ZERO STARS Edit: I'm getting motion detection notifications as I'm writing this and I cannot get a video to load... causes more frustration than relief. Worthless app

Night owl X. This security system is very frustrating. It was extremely expensive. I have eight cameras in my house and surrounding areas of course. It works fine in the house. The display on the screen is fantastic. There’s absolutely no audio even though it says there is audio. that’s problem one. Two is the app on the phone freezes every time! You bring it up and you can see it and then it freezes and you gotta go to a different screen and then go back and then you can see it and it freezes every single time every single day no matter what. I do not recommend this to anyone to be completely honest when you’re home and you want to see what’s going on on the monitor it’s great but if you need to look at the cameras when you are not home, these extremely disappointing to have to go back-and-forth between cameras. I would never buy this again.

Things Missing From App. While on the whole this app works well and allows me to monitor my home pretty well there is one major setback for me. When reviewing recordings this app does not offer any other playback controls except for play and pause. When running playback we should be able to fast forward or rewind just like when using the system. There are times that something has been fishy and when I have videos at 15 minute intervals I don’t always have the time to watch the whole video to try and see what’s going on. Adding the ability to FFWD WITHOUT having to download the video would be amazing. Also with downloading videos, which I’ve done a couple times, I’m not able to download the whole video. Only the first 3-4minutes of the video actually download. This needs to be fixed as well.

Cheaper solution. Update as of now everything has been working very well the only real issue is the default view being saved in the app so when you open it up it doesn’t show your 8 cameras it always just one then you have to manually change the amount of cameras you’d like to view it’s like the app just doesn’t save the saved view function. Wnvr and app work just fine together . If I had to complain about anything I have experienced maybe 5 times where you go too open the app and none of the cameras show up look at the app it says it’s connected to my 8 channel NVR but no vid. I discover this isn’t an app issues it’s the NVR I noticed when I had this issues my NVR hard drive was nearly full and laggy on the NVR itself so with a format and a reboot of the NVR all was fine...I set my preferences to just reboot the NVR weekly and have never had that issue again. It’s was a NVR memory issues...!

Missing videos. Right now i can see a real owl sitting in front of my camera. He’s come and gone many times over the last couple of days. But for some reason the app won’t show me every video. This morning he dragged a rat in to the nest box. I started to watch the video. I then got interrupted and had to close the app. When I went back 5 minutes later the video was gone from the app. I couldn’t find it. It took me 20 minutes of refreshing and turning my phone on and off to get that particular video to show up back in the record list. This needs to be fixed. Also as of right now i have deleted the app and I am trying to reinstal it but night owl won’t send me the required email i need to continue with the install. Completely frustrated and disappointed right now.

Minor issues to fix. Picture quality is great easy install. I purchased thinking it would do the same as a neighbors system does which as of the moment it does not sends me push notifications quite often but can not review or see what set it off when I click on it it takes me to live feed which by that time no one or nothing is showing when my neighbors has a motion detection it snaps a picture for him to view I was hoping this system would do the same. In order to get a snap shot you would have to be viewing the cameras and snap it yourself if you guys could make this happen would be great if not I’ll just have to switch to the same brand as the neighbors

Good but BAD. The hardware you buy works like a charm, doesn’t disconnect stays on 24:7 if you have it set up that way and even had options to switch it from HD or SD. The only problem is this awful app. Tapping on some of the settings sometimes works sometimes doesn’t and you have to keep tapping it to get to a certain setting until it finally registers. Another is the connection to the camera itself, at first it worked flawlessly and I was able to connect from my work, on the road or even at the store but all of a sudden it stopped streaming and started showing a black screen. After several googling I discovered that many others have had this problem and the DEVs are well aware but refuse to take things into their own hands and blame the users end. I wouldn’t waste your time and money on this security that in out works 1/4th if the time

Ok cameras - terrible, confusing app. This app is a confusing mess. There's a tutorial at the beginning, but it's confusing and the layout of the app makes no sense. When signing up, confirmation email goes to spam. The email contains your password, character for character, without ANY encryption, so if you use the same password for a lot of things, have fun changing them all. Once in the app, the main screen is okay and works well, even though it seems to be poorly coded. The tab bar is actually a navigation bar, which makes the app not work well while switching between tabs. The playback menu is very glitchy and crashes more times than not. When playing a recorded video, you can't skip to where there's motion in the video, let alone scrub through the video at all. Ultimately, this app is pointless, and really needs to be updated. 👎 Edit: The app no longer lets me view my cameras at all. One star.

Can't review motion alerts for 1 hour! Updated 8/9/17. When the app sends you a push notification for motion, you cannot review the playback of that event for 1 hour after it happens. I don't understand the point of sending me a motion notification if I can't review what caused it immediately. If there is motion on my property, I would like to be able to open the app and see what caused it, but with this app you must wait an hour to do that. I think this needs to be tweaked in an update and it would be a good app for my purposes. Also, when you get the push notification, it doesn't tell you which camera it came from, nor can you find out until that hour had passed and the video playback is available. Update: thank you for fixing the playback issue. You can now immediately view motion notifications in the app. Thanks, great job!

Horrible customer service. I’ve been having trouble with my app not connecting with my cameras for almost three weeks. I’ve called customer service numerous times during those three weeks. I’ve talked to different people and there are two men that are just rude as everything. Talk to me like I’m dumb. Very unprofessional!!!! I finally got a nice lady and she tried to help but she had to escalate my problem to a “level 2” support person. Well level 2 was to call in 48 hours. They did but not when I had help here to do what needed done. So I asked them to call back at that evening when my spouse is here. It’s been 5 days now. I’ve called back twice. Both times they were rude. And still nothing. Idk what’s going on but they had worked just fine till a few weeks ago. We’ve had these cameras for about 3-4 years. Please fix whatever the problem is. Pleased work on professionalism in your employees.

Painfully bad app. Live view works fine, but trying to playback videos is excruciating. Find the date you want, then pick the camera you want and it will show you every video it shot that day. If it is set to motion, you will have a couple hundred videos. The app will only show 10, you have to drag down, then it shows 20, with the newest at the bottom, scroll back up and drag down again to get ten more, then scroll down to the bottom to see how far back it went, so it will take several minutes to get to noon. Why can’t we just search a time to start at? Then if you want to download it and you have a full WiFi signal, it will start downloading. The app will either shut off before it’s done, or it will go to 99.0 and stop, never actually downloading anything. Completely useless!

This app needs A LOT of work. (FYI I have over a decade of experience in installing and using cameras for work) I had an amcrest which we loved but it wasn’t HD. Saw the night owl at Costco and it was on sale for Christmas. Decided to “upgrade”..... after a month of having it I didn’t mess around with it too much thinking everything was good. Come to find out we had a package stolen. Looked on the cams and researching video is the most complicated thing I’ve ever seen, especially through the app. The app save snips of motion, and when you're playing the snip, you have to watch it in full. You cannot rewind or stop it. Saving video to your phone isn’t working at all (I know my way around a phone). The app is a bust. The only thing it’s really good for is watching live.... Great video quality but that’s it. Update the app and you have a good product. LISTEN TO YOUR CONSUMERS!!! If you want to stay competitive because I’m about to sell my NightOwl.....

They have 4 apps and none work. Had it before and barely worked then. Recently needed the actual footage on my phone and when I logged on it was showing black screens. Disconnected and tried to re connect to system and it won’t reconnect. Help section is literally a blank page. What good is a camera if you can’t get the footage when you need it? Also don’t download any of the OTHER 3 apps because they don’t work either. It’s a joke security system that you can’t access. Might as well sell dummy cameras and cardboard box. Yes, of course I’m hardwired to router. This hasn’t worked right since the first day it was hooked up. Spent hours on phones with people and just told to download different apps. This is really simple……one app, see my cameras love and sent a notification when movement occurs. You know…..everything the device advertises and is the reason I bought it.

Product is perfect APP is not. i bought and installed the product myself. The product is 100% worth it and works great when setup properly. The reason for the 1 star is because the app crashes a lot, when the app is opened to view cameras it will show the amount of squares representing how many cameras You have and will show you the actual image/video of what’s going on in those squares but very often when I open the app it will show the squares but no image/video at all even when I press a specific camera. Usually takes few hours for it too clear then I reopen app and it works great until it happens again few days later....I KNOW the app is the problem because when I go to view all the squares on my 4K tv everything is operating perfectly! I own all nightowl security system even night owl doorbell and I am very glad I have night owl protecting my home *PLEASE UPDATE THE APP* could use a lot of new features!

One days next day it doesn’t. Update number who knows. Had cameras about 2 years now? If I had known how bad this app would be I would not have purchased the cameras. It’s not a internet issue because that works fine on all other items. Sitting at work and can’t check cameras at home. Guess it’s time to return these and spend more money on another system. They don’t fix anything just same responses. Update: guess what! App is out again. Gone on vacation and I can’t view my cameras. You get used to them and then on vacation you can’t check on your house. This app stinks. Seriously need to figure out new camera system and return this one. Did the update for the iPhone and now the app doesn’t work. One day the app works then it doesn’t. Now it says the network is down. Then I have to sign in again. Then it can’t find cameras. I wish the app worked better. Thankfully I bought them at Costco easy return and find better cameras with a working app. Over the last 3weeks it’s worked maybe 7 times.

Good but needs work. This is a good app and I can do much of what I want but there are two problems you should be aware of. 1. When viewing in single camera mode you have to click “close” and go back to the collective camera block view before you can click on a different camera for full screen view. This is a huge issue when viewing in landscape because the “close” button disappears causing the user to have to rotate their device back to vertical, then click close, wait for the cameras to load, click on the next one, then finally rotate back to landscape. Why not just be able to swipe left and right in full screen between cameras?!?!? Seems basic to me. 2. Note that a device is required to have 2GB of memory to run this app appropriately. That is INSANE. This means all the iPad minis, older model iPhones etc. won’t be able to run this app well and if you have an iPad mini 2 like I do with half a gig ... it closes out all the time. iMacs ship with 4GB ... 2GB is crazy. Fix these and 5 stars.

App needs an update!. I have 8 outdoor cameras set up around my car dealership along with a couple Nest cameras indoors(which I love). When I open the app, there is always at least one cam that shows a black screen and sometimes all of them have a black screen. Cameras are pretty well made and the quality of picture is just ok. Would recommend if you’re on a budget and security isn't a big priority for you. Best part in my opinion is that there is no monthly fee but if you dont mind 15 bucks a month, I would recommend purchasing Nest cameras instead(better app, overall quality and picture). ~*UPDATE* August 29th, 2018~ App has gotten worse and out of my eight cameras, one of them just stopped working completely about a week ago. Just says “NO SIGNAL” all the time. Also same issues as before with black screens for extended periods of time. Very disappointed in this purchase, wouldn’t recommend this brand to anyone.

Horrible app updated. It only works when it feels like it. Doesn’t tel me wen. Person is at the door or in the driveway. Doesn’t let me play anything back or view live . It just spins and nothing happens. What a waste of money on an expensive security system to not be able to to view what’s going on 3/4 of the time. For what i paid for the system and its own internet service so it could work Efficiently i could of purchased adt or ring door bell and related devices. No one seems to have a problem with the ring app. If i need to sit home and watch the computer monitor it’s pointless to have the system. If I’m home i don’t need to see what’s going on . I am here. Bunch of trash. Called in to try to resolve the problem and the customer service rep was disrespectful as well as inappropriate telling me to remain professional when i told him i wanted the supervisor then i was placed on hold for 20 minutes until they hung up on me. What a disgrace. I was told i should be happy the app is free. If it doesn’t work i would rather pay for an app that works. Apparently that was unprofessional of me and his comment if i should be happy the app was free is why i asked for the supervisor. I will be no longer using this hunk of crap once i can get an appointment with adt. As well as these ppl should be ashamed of how they treat their customers . Their system was well over $300 when i bought it. Plain disrespectful company.

Business Owner. I have had the out for over five years now and even though it may have had some issues here and there I have been very pleased with the performance. Of course it does have a little lag time sometimes when I try to login and sometimes it will not allow me to login at all but that is because of the Internet connection speed and not the app itself. About a year ago after repositioning the cameras due to continued thefts in the area I was able to zoom in and get license plates which help me lead law-enforcement to the individual who’s been doing the crime in our area. I understand not everyone has the same outcome but just want to let everyone know that it works perfect for me in my business.

Can’t view any recordings. I think this app could use an update of some sort, I can only view my recorded videos half the time if that. It doesn’t record any motion from any of the cameras half the time. I wish the app for these cameras still worked like it did a few years ago.

App not working.. This app has been down since early Saturday morning. I just had my new cameras installed on Friday. They say they are working on it. Cameras are useless without it. The customer should be given updates on progress. This is discouraging.

Good but.... There is no sound on playback. The selected view do not show on login. There is enough space to write the word « channel » in the playback screen.

Not worth it.. I’ve had this system for 2 years and half I use it to keep an eye on my employee’s. The app is pretty much useless. It is very unresponsive. Takes forever to load. If you want to do playback on the app it will show random clips and there is no way to fast forward or rewind. Not really sure what benefit it has to have a playback button that doesn’t do what it states. The quality picture is meh. There is definitely better systems out there. I wish I’d known that before I invested in this system and did all the work of installing.

WiFi issue now. When I’m home a can view my cameras when I walk out the door I cannot view my cameras what’s wrong with that are you guys working on the software is it going to take longer what’s going on your service is great but when I’m out on the road I would like to be able to now that my family is ok home but if I can’t view my cameras is not a good idea at all hope you guys get it fix asap

App freezes. Update: still not working and since the nightowl connect app has been updated, it doesnt work either I have been in contact with support and still no fix. Upon opening the app, cameras freeze for about 10 seconds before it starts showing live. If you switch to another camera view, the same thing happens. It worked fine until about a month ago. You can use the nightowl connect app to live view and that works with no issues so it has to be an issue with this app. I have installed the app on a phone which never had it installed, and still same issue. I have even went as far as trying a new router and still doesnt work. I can view all cameras just fine when using their app on my computer.

Good but.... I have only gone through the initial set up so far, but so far it has been OK. I noticed on other reviews the developer responded to comments so hoping they can add some more user friendly functionality to the app. - In Playback mode, it would be helpful to list the elapsed time of each recording. - While playing the video, it would be nice to swipe to go to the previous or next video, rather than exiting the single video playback to be able to view another recording - Having an option to playback at a higher speed would be nice. - While playing back, a progress status bar would be nice to see how far you are in the recording you are viewing. I have only been through initial camera check, but aside from the software needing some user friendly improvements, the product is good. Will add more comments after the final install is done.

App not reliable. I’ve been very pleased with this app for the past year but it went out 6 days ago and even tho I’ve contacted technical support the app is still not working. It won’t open up the cameras & keeps saying to check my server. I’ve deleted and downloaded the app multiple times, turned my phone off & on, nothing is working. I was told their engineers were working on it last Friday and to contact them on Monday if it still wasn’t working. I replied to their email twice and have yet to hear back! Please fix this app! I rely on it to see outside when I’m not in my living room to see it on my TV or when I’m out of town.

App needs a major revamping. App is “ok” however needs a huge upgrading. Especially on playback. you should be able to scrub forward or reverse during the playback. Also, when you have it on continuous recording, you can try to download each hour that it saves. However, it never works. It always crashes. So unless you’re viewing on a computer, there’s really no way to download each hour of continuous recording. You can’t even scroll ahead or back when trying to view on the app. Please update it to be more app user friendly.

App Does Not Work. The cameras work on the mounted set to our monitor. However, the app on my iPhone does not work. Saw that y’all updated your software 3 months ago. Looks like you need to revisit your business continuity plans, because the app is NOT working again. I’m currently on hold trying to get ahold of a tech rep to report the app malfunction... Please fix your app so that I can view my cameras remotely. I have all bars and am connected to wi-fi, and your app keeps saying that I’m not connected to the internet. If I wasn’t connected to the internet, I would not be writing this review.

Go with a different security camera company. The security system is fine. The review is for the app, which is a pile of trash. Customer service doesn’t even understand that I’ve been having trouble with the app since the update. It’s been MORE THAN A YEAR and they haven’t fixed the default view. I can’t even see one of my cameras on the app. ❌❌❌ As a software engineer, if a company can’t even get people to fix their app, then fire those people and hire new ones. People are looking for jobs during the pandemic. Get new hires that can get the job done. Your welcome, I just offered you a solution to your problem, and I don’t even work for you

Night owl cameras. These cameras and app are by far a complete waste of money. Both my boyfriend and I cannot monitor our cameras even though we have our own app on our phones only one person can. (Yes we have our own email and password we do not share)The camera view is complete crap at night you absolutely cannot make anything out and if you zoom in it just makes it worse than before. These are going were they should have been put in the first place the TRASH instead of wasting hard working peoples money!!!!! Very disappointed for the amount of money not even close to being worth it.

Outdated and inconvenient. The TV app is bad enough and connecting is a pain, but this mobile app is terrible. You really need to update the playback system so that you don’t have to pull down to load only 10 new videos at a time. Having the layout of an entire day’s timeline with markers indicating each recorded movement that you can scrub through is preferable; minimally letting you filter through 30 or 60 videos per page. None of this refreshing 10 videos at a time crap. It’s been this way for years and nothing has been updated. Do the developers not care at all?

Good cameras, awful app!. Previously owned Lorex camera system and Flir Cloud app was 100% better than this app. Developers need to add some serious updates! Lag time is terrible with this app on live view, limited options on playback. Would be nice to search for a time frame on a camera not just search by day and then channel and have to look through everything. The app is awful, terrible, overall. I try to connect my app to my device and I get a constant error message saying “No device found on LAN network.” when my device is clearly connected via Ethernet cable and my phone connected to WiFi! Would really like to “love” these cameras and app, but not having mobile viewing is making me regret this purchase. HELP!!

Can’t view unless on same network. I installed these cameras at my office so I could check when I’m away from the office. Initially the app would allow me to do that. For the last month the app will only work and allow me to view my cameras while I’m at work, which defeats the purpose. If this is the best you can do, it’s horrible. The developer responded that the “glitch” was fixed. And it was! For less than 2 weeks! It’s back to not working again and is completely useless. The cameras are great but you can’t view them. Ever. Consistently. The app seriously needs help. But I did enjoy it for the 12 days it actually worked.

Very frustrating. Update: Help got the new iPhone 11 and can not see a picture on my cameras just a black screen, update the app to fix this! When will this be fixed? Call help desk just to be put on hold & hung up on! System going back to the store! I put it all back in the box for a few days planning on taking it back but decided to give it another try and this time got it working , so far working great but still upset that the help desk isn’t really any help then they say I’m gonna put you on hold for a second but really are hanging up cause they don’t seem to know ( at least the person my husband talked to) what they are doing!

Not working again!. I can't view my cameras through the app. I logged out and it's getting me errors when I try to get back in (my password is correct). Idk why night owl offer cameras with an application that doesn't work. Don't know why Costco sells this junk. It's been nothing but problems and I hope the developers fix this soon because it's been months that this has been out and it still doesn't function like it should. Never recommending this system to anyone. Just to add. I called customer support and I was on hold for 1 hour. I'm not exaggerating, then a bot answered saying to leave a voice mail. Useless.

Slower than Molasses. I’d like to start by saying the cameras have decent quality. Easy set up. But as for this app. It’s slow. It does have a nice layout and straight forward to the point. But checking motion recording and getting to the time you want to see will take you forever even if you just select one camera. When searching it keeps starting at the oldest recording and you have to keep refreshing it to get 10-15 newer ones. So if you want to see something in the last 10 minutes. Might as well forget it. Probably be faster to leave work, stop at the gas station, and then wait until McDonald’s ice cream machine works then come home and look at your footage.

Great app. Just moved into a new home and wanted security cameras for when my boyfriend and I weren’t home because of our opposite schedules. I was having doubts about the app because the reviews were so bad, people said they never got notified for motion detection. I just got my first notification and was pleasantly surprised how fast it loaded and showed me what was outside (a cat). Great app, great cameras. If you don’t get notified, check your settings in the app and on your phone or devices.

Good Equipment, Bad App. I installed the cameras about a year ago, the installation and setup was easy. The quality of the video is great for what I paid, the motion sensing is easy to adjust and work with, and the live feed through my tv is spot on. The app on the other hand leaves a lot to be desired. When the live feed actually works, which isn't often, it still takes up to a minute for the feed to update and actually show anything. I have to jump through hoops to look at play backs of motion. Being security equipment all the delays and lag make the system kind of useless.

A good security camera system. I read a lot of update issues in the recent reviews. Honestly the previous app was giving problems to us. With new update clarity has improved a lot. Now the image fits the whole screen(iPhone X). Images load fast. Also there are 5 viewing options on the top as soon as the app opens. Yeah...it doesn’t save the last viewed option. Six months down. Will update.

Cannot view cameras from my phone. This system is great if you don’t need your phone to look at your cameras. Cannot chat with Tech support because the information section where they want you to pick a department keeps going blank when I keep pressing the Tech support tab. This system pisses me off more each day that I don’t have access to my cameras. Don’t waste your money on this product. Bernie Holt

Worst Camera/App. At the beginning the application and cameras worked ok, now with all of the updates... it’s junk now, why fix something that wasn’t broken or needed to be fixed. When I pull up the application to check on live feed, the screen is just black. So I have to drive 20mins to my place of business to check up on it when I should be able to do it from home or anywhere. Yeah, yeah I tried logging off, going on airplane mode, turn off my smart device, and even went as far as un-installing it and reinstall the app. Still the same outcome. Please save your money and look at a different camera system. Worst investment ever!!!

Buy another brand. So many problems with this app. When I switch locations it takes forever to load no matter what internet speed I’m on. The app crashes constantly. Cameras just disappear from view all the time. Now the app has crashed again and I got on live chat and they had me remove the app and reload it which I’ve already done and then they said to give it a little bit and try again. Still doesn’t work. I called the tech support number and waited on hold for 40 minutes for the lady to tell me that their server had crashed and they weren’t sure when it would be back up and running. If you have to keep constant surveillance on your properties I would not recommend this product! Really frustrating!!

My device wont connect to the app.. My device connected in the initial setup . But only views one out of the 6 cameras. Then after an hour , no more images. When i tried to reset the device info in the app, it tells me that it wont connect. My wifi is functioning properly so its not my wifi. Cant view any cameras now and i have been trying for four hours. I even unplugged and replugged everything. Even deleted and re downloaded the app. What a piece of crap. I dont know what your engineers are doing but you better fire them and hire someone else who actually works( not just someone who sits down and drink coffee all day) . Seriously.

The worst. This system is literally the worst thing I have ever owned. I have the wireless nightowl X. A new version of the app came out today and it is still terrible. It should be noted its the first update in almost a year. God for bid I try to play back a video and the app now wont me look at live feeds. You can’t select times you want to view in the app which is needed because the motion detection is that poor. If you want to try and look for something be prepared to look at hour by hour on the app if your not home. They provide a section where you can select areas on a screen as to where you want to capture motion.....useless. Unless there are some major upgrades to the app and the motion sensor I would not recommend this company.

New update doesn’t want to connect or log in. Loved this system and app up until it updated today. Now it won’t let me log in. After multiple tries, it finally logged on, but then stops working again once I close the app. Something needs to be looked into with this update. I had zero issues with it for the last year up until this new update. Also says there’s no internet connection a few times as well when trying to log in, when I clearly have an internet connection. Please look into this Night Owl. Update: seems to be connecting now, but playback is at high speed and has no audio.

You tell me refresh by pulling screen down. I gave review telling you that the app works fine at the location where my camera system is installed but when I am not at the location, I am not able to get any video at all. I get “motion sensor notifications” but NO video AT ALL! I have tried over and over again to “refresh” but refreshing isn’t the issue...... The problem is.... It has the little circles that go round and round saying connecting and it never connects! I never had this issue with the old app before upgrading! Terrible! Can’t refresh if it never connects! And it’s not my internet... unless this app is only for outdated internet speeds! So Frustrated!

Not impressed! 0 stars. I’ve had this app for 3 days and it worked well. Now it has logged me out and will not allow me to log in. Please fix the app and all the bugs associated with it. Update: after having this camera system for over a year it is not any better. The app does not have instant access to alerts. So once you camera pucks up motion, you will check the app to get the black screen of death. There will be no video feed for the camera detected. Also when you attempt to review footage you have to refresh the app several times and wait for the system to record. Sorry that I bought this system.

App needs support!. I keep receiving movement notifications and click on the notification pop-up and to my surprise a black screen is the only thing that I see. Usually I find a work around which is to scroll onto the next camera and swipe back and hold my finger for a few seconds until it comes on but that doesn’t work for about 90% of the time. Really frustrating when the cameras are great. I have a network connected directly to the receiver so I don’t understand how there’s so many poor reviews with the same or similar issues and no work around them. I’ve had my cameras installed since January 2019 and have reserved my thoughts up until this point will update if anything changes.

Needs improvement. App needs improvement, have to keep switching from SD streaming to HD streaming every time I open app , won’t save settings even though it’s a HD system, streaming also has lagging issues when viewing via LTE This is the worse app I’ve ever had to use , lagging , works then doesn’t work , forget trying to use other functions as playback , very disappointed with this app , the only app that does work is night owl connect, but I was told by customer service that I should not be using that app , only use night owl x , really ? How about I use the app that works ???? , disheartening....

Don’t waste your money.. I bought the 6 cameras set up just over 2 years ago and started having issues about a month ago where I had to set up everything every week. I called customer service and I was told that if it was over 2 years old they did not offer any customer support but kindly offered me 20% off my next purchase to which I thought was laughable. Why sell a product where it makes it a piece of trash if it’s over 2 years old and wants you to spend your money every 2 years and I’m sure it would be more expensive. No thanks. There’s other companies that are better that Night Owl.

AP won't connect anymore. AP has always been a bit slow to connect after you get an alert and want to see something immediately but recently the app quit connecting at all. Supposedly this may be due to a firmware upgrade on the box however all these pieces of software must work in unison. What if you are traveling when a software update happens and you don't have access to the box to troubleshoot? Ap worse than the old night owl HD as I can no longer change cameras from zoom view, stop/start playback, fast forward / reverse playback. Going to give one call to Costco tech support before returning.

Doesn’t save all playback. When I get a motion detection notification, I expect to be able to see the playback of what caused the motion detect. Not just that, it doesn’t save playback unless you save it yourself. What if your house gets burglarized and you rely on the playback to get evidence, but nothing’s there. Only one playback has automatically saved onto my saved playback, but it’s only 17 secs long and useless. I don’t know if you have to change something in settings and if you do, please let me know. Other than that the live feed is pretty good.

Stopped getting motion detection alerts. So the app was great at first but after about 2 months of having it both my husband and I stopped getting motion detections alerts. He has an the galaxy 9 plus and I have an iPhone and we both stopped getting the alerts at the same time. We’ve tried everything from resetting the motion detection alerts to uninstalling the app and reinstalling and it still doesn’t work. Also, it said that the outdoor cameras were thermal sensors but yet I would get motion detection alerts for leaves blowing in the wind.. not so much the apps fault but still thought I would throw it in there.

Don’t waste your money!. We have had this system since summer 2018. It’s now Summer 2021. Never stays online. Only get playback video during daytime hours. Can’t playback what happened at night. You click on a time spot and it shows different camera then what you picked. Shows picture of car I sold a year ago on cameras also. Very disappointed in this system. Car had gas stolen several times at night and truck broke into, which was why we put this system in. Never any updates to app which would be an improvement. Going to purchase another system now. I’m done.

Poor feedback. I like pretty much everything about my Night Owl Security System. But there is a serious flaw…. And it is this app. Whenever I view the live feed from my phone, there is about a 10 second lag. And it’s been that way ever since I got the Night Owl system. I see many of the same complaints and I figured Night Owl would get a tech team busy to fix these issues! Customer complaints don’t seem to mean much and that is going to be the downfall of your company. All of the issues that people are having seem to actually be pretty easy fixes! Actions speak louder than words and I think everyone is ready to see better app compatibility!

Phone app. My phone app has worked great until the last couple days it will not connect to my network when I try to log in. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it but it still will not work. When I go to the main system it all is working great. It is just the app that isn’t working on any of our phones or our iPad. When I try to get customer support on the app all it gives me is the robo system no number to contact for help.

Frustrating!. We only had time to set up 3 of the 8 cameras. Have 4-8 disabled until they are hooked up. However we keep getting notifications for cameras that are not connected! Pisses me off. Last thing I need with Meth heads running around is false reports. No it doesn’t just do one camera here and there but all of them at one time! This is bs. I do not for the life of me understand how any company puts out a product that hasn’t been fully tested. Other than the false notifications (no video) the system seems pretty good. Please get this fixed! iPhone 7 user

Great App, bad resolution!. This would be the best app it only had good quality resolution on streaming video. I had an older model from night Owl and the streaming resolution it’s a-lot better than this one. Even when I hit HD streaming it enhances the image for only like four seconds and it looks worst than before under 480P. As most users I watch video from my cameras on my phone most of the time. So this would be a high priority fix for me. I hope to develop her addresses this issue pretty soon, otherwise I might just end up switching to a different system from the competition.

Bad Actors/LIARS. Notifications stopped, tech support lies ands says it must be your internet. Then why is EVERYONE having the same problem at the same time? They just plain lie. I’ve used NightOwl for a very long time without any issues. Jan of 2024 Notifications simply stopped. After doing my due diligence I called tech support who claimed it was my internet. After pressing the guy on it he began pushing upgrade. Now looking at ALL of the other people having the same issue and hearing that they too were told “It must be your Internet” by the liars at tech support I’ve decided to leave behind the NightOwl people and move on. Solely because they knew it was themselves to blame but LIED instead.

Dark screen. When I try to watch live all see is a dark sceen with audio on my 3 cams, I can see the play back and motion only ..I reseted all 3 cams and even my router and the recording box and no succes still seeing dark screen ....I reseted my iPhone 8 Plus and I deleted the app a reinstalled it back ..and still nothin..please fix it ..it was working great...probably is because the IOS 13 update ..please hurry up and fix it .. Update ...it’s fixed thanks for listening to customers and getting the job done with the update ..now the app is working great on my iPhone ..

Once and for all. This app does not work. I’m tired of uninstalling and reinstalling this app. I’m tired of rebooting my network. Basically, the only thing you can do with the Night Owl is watch your monitor at home, which defeats the purpose. I had the same issue a few months ago. I went online and found out that others were experiencing the same problem with the app. Night Owl said that they were working on it. Eventually I was able to use the the app again but unfortunately that didn’t last long at all. I don’t care if the app is free or not. It was sold along with the device which is definitely not free.

Very Disappointed. This is my 2nd system that I purchased when we moved. While the first system wasn’t perfect I liked it enough to purchase the Night Owl X. Biggest mistake ever, playback is non existent on your phone. Want to see a playback? Well you’d better be home and in front of your box because that’s the only way to see anything. I also can’t stand how long it takes to load or sometimes not at all. Here I am very upset in the middle of the. Night due to a situation needing cameras and they’ve failed me again! One would have thought that over the last three years that items like this would get fixed but nope! Looks like I’ll be shopping for a new system... my families safety depends on it

App is constantly down. We have owned our Night Owl cameras for almost a year and this will be the second time in a year we have not been able to view our cameras on the app. You call or do a live chat with their trouble shooting department just to be told “the engineers are working on the problem.” Our app has been down for more than 5 days. We have cameras we cannot even view when we are away from home. The cameras have a very nice picture that you can view from your television, but we want to feel as though our home can me monitored when we are away. If I were you, I wouldn’t select Night Owl.?

Great cameras but app is lacking and behind.. This night owl app is need of an update, add a swipe to next and last feature on live mode, also in need of a rewind and fast forward, play, pause and stop feature on playback mode. Note that cameras off less value like Zmodo have these features on their app. One other note is that when you receive a motion alert and tap on the alert icon it sometimes loads and suddenly kicks you out and you just missed what’s going on. So by paying good money for these systems you would think they would put a little more effort into designing or updating the app. Great cameras but app is lacking and behind.

Finally!!!. Thank you for this so needed update keep up the good job...great improvement to LIVE VIEW!!! Le’t work in the PLAYBACK section PLEASE allow forwarding and rewind to specific section on each of the recorded video... just like previous Apps or better👍 Edit: LIVE view FREEZES now every time I DON’t Know what they did but last update was working fine at the beginning NOW a LOT of lagging...PLEASE FIX. Security is very important these apps should work with minimum issues...but LIVE FREEZING BIG PROBLEM.

Limits number of events you can view in a day. The app generally does everything I need. However, my biggest gripe is that when viewing events on the app, it will say something like 15/37 events, and only displays 15 events for the day. So, I know there are 37 events, but the only way to see them is on the physical security device console itself, not on this app. Why the limit? Why not display all events?

Terrible compatibility. NEEDS A NEW UPDATE!!. Tried contacting these guys multiple times and have never heard back. All of my devices running iOS 13 no longer is able to use the live view portion of the app because they’re all blacked out. No matter what I try I cannot see the live view of any of my cameras. I know it’s because of iOS 13 because the devices that are still running iOS 12 everything works fine. UPDATE THE FRIGGIN APP ALREADY! I got this security system because of the good reviews of the system and the use of an app to watch my place while I’m away. Now that I can’t see my cameras while I’m away from home the system is near useless to me. I’m very close to never buying another product from night owl again.

Worst ever. The cameras are ok , it’s the app , that has me wanting to change systems . And I just got this little over 2 months ago . First you can’t rewind or fast forward or zoom or any thing really other then play and pause . It records in little clips so you have to hope you have the correct clip and play sit and watch and don’t miss it . Second it only records motion or continuous. I like to record both my Swan a much more inexpensive unit could record continuously and it would show where there was motion detected so I didn’t have to watch all of it . Lastly there seems to be a problem with all of my cameras not coming through the app even though it’s on the monitor . Great picture just can’t access it remotely in any useful way may as well not even offer it

Terrible app. This is my second system with night owl. The first night owl camera I have works well and the app is supper easy to navigate. Night owl HD is 1000 times better than the new Night Owl X. To go back and see the feed you have to constantly refresh to get the time you want to see. With night owl hd it shows you a 24 hour feed and where the motion happened. If you guys wanted an up date on the app why didn't you keep the same user friendly format. If you wanted to change the color or improve features you didn’t have to make it so unnecessary and complicated. Hope there will be a new update on the entire app soon. All these low ratings should be an incentive for you guys to do something.

Can’t save, can’t zoom, can’t scrub, can’t start/stop in landscape. When I go to save a video, I get download failed evey time. For zooming, sometimes it will zoom, but not to the part of the screen I want, so zooming seems to exist, but I can’t get it to work. When viewing motion videos, there is no way to move forward or backward in the video. In landscape mode, there is no way to play or pause. I tried on my older iPad, which it claims to work on, but the program crashes as soon as I try to switch to the playback screen. Also, the motion alerts took about 5 days to start working, but they work fine now. I wish I could change the motion detection areas from the phone.

If I can give -negative stars I would. Worst system live view quality is worst than horrible picture is grainy and not clear on the app. And it claims it’s 5mp. and GUI doesn’t work with chrome or Firefox . only legacy internet explorer it works on which is not safe. microsoft doesn’t even support that browser Stay away from This company. Live view on the app company says it’s 5mp picture is poor quality on live view and playback. and you can hardly see anything clear . and you still need legacy internet explorer to view the videos on the pc . I say run and run as far as you can from night owl . There is a reason why this company has majority of one star reviews run run away as far as you can
