Like it but two flaws. I do like this app on iPad and iPhone - it works great most of the time. However, there are 2 things that need some improvement. (1) I don’t like when I select Blu-ray as a source, the app acts totally different. Rather than showing me the active input and output channels like normal (and like I want), it forces the app to show Blu-ray player controls. What??? I never use this app for Blu-ray controls. Not only is that inconsistent with the behavior throughout every other source, it does not allow me to disable it! Oh, and it doesn’t control my player anyhow. Please stop this behavior in the app. Make it act like the other sources and be consistent. (2) This doesn’t have a night/dark mode! There I am sitting in a black home theater, and I want to launch the app - which then blinds me and distracts others around me. Please give an option to have it switch to dark mode automatically with the phone, and even better, allow the user to enable it manually (if they want to lock it in to the dark mode or light mode no matter what time day).

+. Would give four star, if it had (+ and - ) option on the volume slider control. It is next to impossible to get it to the decimal level without messing with it for a while not good when your are enjoying your music or watching a movie . Please add it in your upgrade it was always there in your older apps.🙏🏼🙏🏼

Used to work - now it’s dead. This used to work with my NR1607 but no longer does. The app will not find it on my network. The other Marantz remote app actually sees the receiver, but gives me the error that it won’t work with this app and I need to use the 2016 version. (The old on sees it but allows very little functionality to be accessed or used) What gives? Network is fine, has and active IP, the defunct app sees it, but the correct one I’m supposed to use can not find the app and the “I can’t see my AVR” function doesn’t even work to choose my receiver, so I can’t submit the logs or do anything there. Come on Marantz!! I expect a little more (actually a lot) when I spend $1000+ on a device!

Works Great When It Workrs. Works great when it works. I average 2 re-downloads of the app per week. At times,I’ve had to re-download 4 times in a week. What happens is it cannot find the Marantz receiver on my network even though no passwords or anything else has changed. I have to delete the app, unplug the receiver, plug it back in, then re-load the app. Even then I’ve had to do it a couple of times for the app to see my receiver. Receiver is a 2020 model. When it’s working, does a great job of controlling/operating my surround sound receiver. I have to say overall, it is the worst app I use because of it’s unreliability. You’d expect a lot better from Marantz. My receiver works great. App is unbelievably frustrating. If you want to use app with your phone, be prepared to waste a lot of time keeping it working. Good luck.

Rarely Works!. This app, had I known how horrible it is, would’ve been enough to make me buy a Yamaha instead of this Marantz. Additionally, my Marantz receiver is so finicky. Sometimes when I change the channel on my DirectTv, the audio just dies. I’ve swapped the HDMI cable, and it still does it. I also swapped the boxes between my bedroom and living room, and the problem stays with the Marantz receiver. It’s still under warranty, but their customer service seems less than interested in assisting. Even after I told them I swapped the cable and the box, they claim it’s the cable or the box. Then they just told me to “take it to a repair center.” Zero communication about where one is, what companies they deal with to repair it, covering shipping and/or repair costs, or anything. I wish I had just bought the Yamaha I was looking at.

App functionality spotty. Had my setup for about a month. Though a little wonky, I pretty much figured out how the app was laid out and was fine with its functionality. (3***) Now, not so much. App auto-sets volume on its own, will not hold volume where I adjust it to via app (reverts to 51dB). App also shows power as always on, and when receiver is off, I cannot turn it on via app, only manually or by starting a stream from pandora/Apple Music/etc. The app will allow me to turn receiver off, but upon doing so, the app does not revert to the “system off” page, rather shows system as still on. If I were more of a power-user, I expect I’d find much more wrong to detail. As is today: 1* and a Sad face. :( That said, I have to agree with other comments. This app is broken, and for the reputation of the products it is supposed to support, you guys have horrible UX and buggy functionality in your app! Please fix. It’s a shame to have your reputation sullied by something like this.

Reviewing the APP, not the tuner hardware. The app is fine, about what I expected from Marantz. It does always work when I go for it, different than other reviewers. I don't have to often use it but it would be nice if it wasn't a VERY BRIGHT interface. its like very light tan. This is a home theatre control app guys. Should be 100% dark mode all the time. I'm trying to change the volum ein the dark with this flashlight over here.

Just OK. Needs Work. Just installed this app & using on my 8802A Processor. I plan on upgrading to the AV10 and wanted to see how this app works. In comparison to the old Deremote app, the navigation arrows are nowhere near as responsive to the older app. It really takes a while to get used to. This could use some improvement IMO. While I’ve not had much time with the app so far, it’s great that there’s more info & options available. Marantz just needs to finds a way to improve the time it takes to navigate through the menu.

Could be better with some simple updates. Why no effort towards this end????. This is a good app but Marantz needs to spend some time and work out some of the bugs and listen to some of the suggestions your customers have made in these comments. My main problem has been every once in a while the app will not connect to the AVR SR6014. Then I have to delete and re-download the app. Please update and fix this glitch. Is anyone else having this issue??

Reliable, but missing features. Mostly happy with the application. Was happier before I found out that everything else in my room had tie-ins to the Shortcuts app for macros except for this one, and it’s a little too critical a piece of gear to not have them. Looking around, this seems to be common to D+M apps in general, as HEOS is also missing shortcut support. I’m running things through HTTPBot and API calls for now, but that is a paid product and neither the product nor the API collection is easily shared with family members. 5 stars once shortcut support is added.

It’s fine, moderate your expectations and you’ll find it useful.. There are better apps sure, but in reality, I mainly use the app for power, master volume, and swapping between speaker modes. Works well, connected right away since I set up my WiFi on the receiver first. So long as that’s what you want out of it it functions perfectly.

Don't Understand All The Negatives. I've used the app with a AV 7706 preamp for a couple of months & the only issue was resetting the network on the processor after installing a NetGear Orbi mesh router, why it was necessary I'm not sure but it worked. The app has been fault free with quick response to commands & provides a lot of control options for the preamp. The app is really good for changing inputs which I use a lot switching from Xfinity to Roku & BluRay etc. Sorry there's been so many user issues but for me it's been a good app. My only negative is the design is really boring with light text and backgrounds, could really use some color and high contrast graphics.

AVR Remote App is Crap. This app is crap. I’ve had it for 2 1/2 years and nothing but problems. At least once a month, for first 2 years the app wouldn’t be able to find my Maranz devices. “Maranz AVR not found” was th motto. Solution is always, reboot your modem and router or unplug the device and then try reconnecting. I’ve had so many parties ruined because of this sound system or because sporting event audio wouldn’t play. Ridiculous. I don’t even bother with it anymore. I’ve just gone Alexa speakers for music and a simple sound bar for my TV. Marantz system sounds good when the surround-sound works, but that’s not usually the situation. Don’t waste your time or money on the crap app and devices.

Works reasonably, usually. Pros: almost all the functionality I need, including setting volume via a draggable slider. Most settings are available via native UI. Honors input names and input hiding, giving a pretty good experience when switching sources. Has remote simulation for any settings not included. Cons: a few settings are not available in the native interface, e.g. Audio/Volume/Mute Level. For these you have to use the remote simulator to access on screen menus. Still usable. Interface is a little goofy (the hamburger menu does not open a menu or drawer, but slides the content over in a way that confused me), but not awful once you learn it. Biggest problem is that some times the remote just won’t connect to my 7706. Latest firmware, have network control always on, but...nothing. The app can see my 7706 listed, but stalls connecting. Even turning the 7706 “off” (standby) and on, and force quitting the app on the phone doesn’t help. To fix it I usually unplug the 7706, restart the phone (!), and plug it back in.

Make Vol. Status on TV Smaller. Using with a SR6013. OK app. Could be improved of course. Have to be on same network so you can’t turn unit off if you left the house and left it on. Biggest gripe with system is the HUGE volume status bar shown on TV when adjusting volume. Could be so much smaller/thinner and on the actual bottom so as not to block so much of the picture/subtitles. These receivers talk up being “update-able” with firmware updates but they never actually offer any updates or improve the UI.

Awful. When it works, it’s great. Many features easily control sound settings, channel levels, etc. that after market apps won’t do. The biggest problem is it just stops working…often. I’d say safely 75% of the time it is non-functional. It will be down for a month then work again miraculously for a couple weeks, then down again. Multiple deletes and re-downloads later, I’ve basically given up. I’ve reached out to Marantz technical support several time and always get the feeling they think it’s on my end, like I don’t know how to update the software. Based on several other reviews mentioning the same issue, they clearly don’t care enough to actually fix it.

Very unhappy. Before I upgrade I always check accessibility with VoiceOver on IOS. Remote app for my SR6008 worked great for me and my testing helped me decide to get a Marantz or Denon product. The 2016 version is now pointing me to upgrade with a lesser brand since the app has much unlabeled buttons and controls. Changing inputs in demo mode is ok but can’t find the DSP and volume settings. Only a few controls are usable with VoiceOver. Update: I reported accessibility issues to developer and they stated they will probably not make changes reported. Marantz an Denon are off my list lowering my rating.

Works fine for me!. I own the 6014 and the app has completely rendered my remote control useless. I have the app working flawlessly on my iPhone XS and the iPad Pro. I haven’t experienced a single issue and have been using the app daily for several months.

Affects device volume. This app has a new bug where the device volume gets affected when using the mute function or even when the app is opened. I have found my device volume inexplicably turned down or even muted after opening this app. This is a new issue with iOS 16. If I want to control my receiver volume with the app, my device volume should be untouched. Pleas fix.

Fantastic Control. Full functionality with iPad Pro 2nd gen. Love the primary control screen that shows input speaker source on left and output with my 7.2 system on right including video source resolution. Easy source switching. Most of the controls are very intuitive and can be mastered in just a few hours. I rarely even pickup my remote other than to power off the unit

Works as it says. It could a better phone/tablet app. Just buttons and sliders please. But it does what it needs to do. You can operate the on-screen menus with a window that pops up and looks like part of the remote. Menus in the app do not match the SR5013. But I have found all the settings eventually. After you update the firmware, unplug the system to reboot it or the changes do not take effect.

Very nice app to accompany your AVR!. This app makes operating your Marantz more user friendly. Straightforward controls to get the best sound out of your amplifier without looking into the small circular display (unless you have a LED under the cover). Really makes you feel more in command of your home theatre.

Works just fine. Read a lot of negative reviews and was a little skeptical at first but having used the app for a good two months now, I have not experienced any major issues at all - not sure if it has something to do with my model - I have a NR1606 running the latest firmware - can turn on and off even after completely shutting down the unit and with WiFi network disrupted on a few occasions due to power outages - the unit initializes normally and continues to operate without any problem - I do find the app quite intuitive, contrary to what many other users report and I am not a paid reviewer, but certainly a Marantz fan !

New Update Finally!. So this app is pretty terrible, and I was hoping the most recent update would address the numerous issues and bugs but I am resigned to the likelihood that Marantz doesn’t actually care about having an app that is actually useful. If, like me, you listen to music through digital means on a media server, this app and platform won’t be a great option. I use the SR5011 and I don’t think I will be purchasing another Marantz product after all the workarounds I have had to employ to simply listen to my music. I have to stream the music to my phone from my computer, then connect through airplay to the receiver, all because DLNA is unstable. This app is not even functional for controlling the sound settings on the receiver. I’m so done with this company.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. I know it’s not the network because I can stream without a hitch. The app falsely reports status and will often be unresponsive. Or, worse, you make a change and that change reverts in front of your eyes. Please…fix this. Brand new Cinema 70s needs accurate control!

It’s about blown my $30,000 speakers twice!. I use this app almost everyday to control the volume on my audiophile systems. (Av8805) I have it set up with two zones. When I’m wanting to play multi zone stereo... it often will automatically turn the volume all the way up when it’s playing when I open the app. You can not trust this app when playing multi zone stereo. It has turned up my speakers to full volume with 1200w McIntosh monoblocks running to $30,000 speakers. It’s happened to me 4 times now over the last few months. Which is 50% of the time I’ve tried using the audio for multiple zones. Fix this!!!! You’re going to blow someone expensive equipment!!!!!!!!

Doesn’t work. I’ve had my receiver for a couple weeks - great sound and well worth the purchase. But it’s a good thing the app was free. It worked occasionally at first. But even with keeping my apps updated and completing a firmware update on the receiver, the app doesn’t work. It can’t turn on the receiver. And even when the receiver is already powered, it can’t find it. The app for my last receiver (different manufacturer) worked flawlessly. BTW, I would love to try the Audessey MultEQ Editor app. But since this remote control app is so bad, and the audessey app is currently rated at 2.9 stars, I would be wasting $20 on the audessey app.

Highly useful, needs better iPad functionality. There was a time I would have given this app a two star review, since it regularly lost connection with my Marantz SR6011. That’s gotten much better over the past few months. Things I’d like for it to be even better: I currently use the remote on an IPad with a Magic Keyboard, and would love better keyboard accessibility. Or: the trick that the Apple Remote app performs by mapping the volume buttons on the iPad to the volume settings on Apple TV—it would be great to see similar functionality here.

Works well. The reason most of these manufacture apps get such low ratings is because they try and cram too much control into the app and by doing so none of it works well. I found everything on this app to work pretty well, I like the fact that while you’re making adjustments you can use your volume knob on your phone to turn the volume up and down. The very first thing I would change about this app is removing the power button for the receiver off of every page, I could understand that being a mute button but every page does not need to have a power off button, in fact that should be the one button that should be hard to find.

6011 no longer working. Had an issue where the App could not find my 6011. Power button still operates but everything else was gone. A Reboot of the receiver solved it. App works pretty well for zone 2 operations. It does kind of get zone 1 messed up when you run Bluetooth to zone 2. But other than that it makes a complicated machine much easier to use.

Not bad but inconsistent. Clean looking app. Some days it finds my receiver some days not. Pandora was working beautifully for about a week...could turn on the receiver with my phone from anywhere on my house, start Pandora and enjoy music. Now can’t find pandora. Switching input source is shaky to. Almost seems like I need an app update. Was very excited about this app but loosing Love quickly.

3.3.0 crashes with SR6011. I loved this app... worked so great with my 6011. Now, any button I press on the app crashes it and the 6011 wont respond. Extremely disappointed that it was amazing and is now completely non-functioning. For the record, followed all troubleshooting, network resets, deleted app then reinstalled, etc. This is on both an iPad mini and an iPhone XR... all up to date with everything. No luck. Dead until the next version, which I hope will come quickly. Sad...

Don’t work. After the update to iOS 13.2 the application closes as soon as I try to put it into operation. My AVR Marantz 8012 has its firmware updated, I have restarted all the equipment, disconnected from the mains, also my iPhone XS. Nothing changed. Before that it worked without major inconveniences. it wasn’t the most powerful application but fulfilled its function. Please check it.

Gets the important things right.... It gets the important things right: it works! I can control my AVR without fishing out the remote, and that’s awesome. Thanks! That said, the non-important stuff could be better attended to. The design of the app makes it feel like something from 1983 (what’s with all the tans/browns?) and it has yet to be updated to take full advantage of the iPhone X, months after it’s release. A prettier app that takes advantage of the phones we’re actually using would greatly enhance the top notch *feel* one should get when using top notch Marantz hardware. My two cents.

Revised. I was having issues with the app connecting with my receiver after the last marantz update. I found In network settings Dchp was turned on, I turned it off and now I’m connected and working smoothly. This now works much better than the remote provided. I revised my review from 2 stars to 4 stars

Well mine works. Paired to a SR6012. App connects 98% of time. When i open app its connected and ready to go. I find app very useful and intuitive. Maybe other reviewers are trying to pair this to older receivers which is why they have so many problems. That being said, there is a new update out and im terrified to update as version 3.2 for me works perfectly. I pray they dont push it. Thanks.

75% functionality would be wonderful. I have read other reviews, and I don’t spend my life hoping to write a bad review, or wanting to agree with others... But this app and receiver and so spotty. I have set it up so many times, had to reset which of our 2 phones can connect via Bluetooth (which is way more work than anyone should have to walk through), that I cannot think of a reason why I still use this amp, except that I don’t have the money to go buy another one after I spent this much on one already. 4 years of Truly frustratingly aweful. Don’t make the same mistake I did

Works Great!. I use this to control my Marantz SR5014 and it works very well. There’s sometimes when the connection is lost but it’s like two taps to reconnect. This can be a full replacement for the remote if you like just using your phone.

Love this app. I love this app. It displays vital stats about your source and output, allows you to control nearly every setting, and loads instantly. What’s more, it allows universal control of my Sony Blu-Ray - I assume via HDMI control. That’s very cool, since the IR remote does not offer such a feature (bummer) and Sony does not offer an iOS app for controlling their disc players. Keep it up Marantz!

Stopped working properly. I’ve had the marantz sr7012 for several years and have been using the remote app from day one. Several days ago the app started to act up. I try to change inputs and it starts to buffer and the app shows the input change but the receiver is still on the previous input. I unplugged the receiver and that fixed it for a few days. It started back again. I finally deleted the app. Not going to keep going in circles with this app. Love my receiver though

Horrible. Recognizes my SR5010 maybe 10% of the time and when it does, it freezes or crashes almost every time. You can’t set up playlists from your media server/nas using the osd, this app is the only way. In other words, your entire digital library is useless with Marantz. If you have a lot of downloaded music or ripped all your cd’s to a hard drive, DO NOT BUY A MARANTZ. Their customer service on this issue has been non-existent. I’ve owned Marantz products for over 40 years and still use my 2230b. No more.

Seldom recognizes my SR5011. I’ve put up with the inconsistent workability with this App for many years. It’s a running joke in my family as the kids guess what my complaint will be every time I use it. It’s gone from bad to worse as it no longer recognizes my receiver. I have to disconnect power from it and sometimes recycle power to my iPhone in the hopes it will recognize it. Eventually it says it can’t find a compatible receiver but the an SR5011 appears that I have to click on each time. I keep hoping the receiver will fail so I can get out of this brand. Sound is fantastic but frustration level is off the charts when it comes to control.

Expect ALOT more from Marantz. Coming from Denon 4400h and 3400h I Almost cant believe Marantz is in the same parent company/ family from their respective apps perspecrive. The marantz app is barely adequate, trying to change inputs should be SIMPLE but nothing there except hdmi and 7.1 ch in !? I just want to switch to and from “tv audiio” for earc sound when im done playing video games. But nope, AVR tries to use auto and fails, and i cant change inout from app. Sad Also audio doesnt work half the time in tv audio with earc to my hisense u7g. For over $2k for my sr6015 i feel cheated

Disastrous. Mind this : if you want to purchase a Marantz for the sound quality , you are in for a good treat. If you want an AVR on WiFi with app capabilities , run away . As fast as you can. The app is not working 75% of the times. One week everything is fine , then 3 weeks is down, a month. It doesn’t matter it’s because the latest update or the new update or bugs or else . It’s the most pitiful app I’ve ever used in smart home devices ( yes worse than Whirlpool). I owned a NR1606 - NR1607 and 08. This has been going on for 3 or more years : the app remote control doesn’t work 75% of the time . Doesn’t connect. Doesn’t find the AVR in the network. Doesn’t work when the previous 2 are working. I think the programmers used their feet to develop this app. A shame . Marantz change your app contractor, pick someone that knows how to do the job for once .

Simple and functional. Been using this app for over 6 months and it has worked flawlessly. I mainly use it to control volume and switch between inputs. Occasionally to fiddle around with settings as well. Never had a problem achieving what I set out to with it. Not sure why a lot of folks are having issues with it.

Yay!! It finally works!!!!. I have my marantz SR7010 in a open back cabinet with opaque wood front door. So this app enables me to turn the receiver on from sleep mode via Bluetooth. I have the marantz hooked up to LG OLED arc so turning it on for TV audio isn't any issue. But sometimes I just want to listen to music and this app makes it so easy to switch audio input. I can choose every audio input options using my iphone SE or iPad pro. I absolutely love this app!! I put my marantz remote away! It is not buggy at all, but I do use it in a bare minimal way.

Unreliable. I’ve had my maranta 5013 for about 6 months. It was working great and had no issues until the first software update. After that, it’s been nothing but trouble. Sometimes out of the blue I can no longer recognize the receiver on my network. Are usually have to either reboot the receiver, and/ or, delete the app from my phone and reinstall it. Even then it doesn’t always work correctly. For top notch brand, this is pretty sad. I wish Morales wouldn’t dress and fix these problems

Marantz App + Airplay = AWESOME. I was able to have a whole house (and outside) audio entertainment that is easily managed through the Marantz App. My current setup: iPad mini - serves as my controller for all entertainment. Marantz receiver 1 - Family room surround Received 2 - outdoor audio and surround Receiver 3 - rest the the house, beds and bath. Speakers - over 25 throughout The app makes it possible to manage each receiver individually or all together. The same settings you get through your receiver can all be done on the app. You can use the app to control from anywhere in the house....I love that....everything is in a server closet and not visible to make it look clean and professional. I’ve had the app for two years now and has been great since. If your a heos or Apple airplay fan, either one works well and is seemless with multiple receivers to be synced together. Thank you Marantz for making it possible as it was a better option for whole home audio for quality and overall $.

Disappointing. For the potential of the app and capabilities of SR6013, disappointing is all I can say. Even downloading it is problematic. It takes numerous attempts just to get it to work! When you switch from a source that has Music settings to a source that has Movie settings and back to the Music settings it doesn’t remember the music settings. Did the developers ever actually test this app in a real world setting? I hope there’s a fix or replacement app in the works. For a well respected company such as Marantz to have this shoddy an effort paired with their products must be a financial disaster.

When it works its... fine. When it doesn’t work, which is frequently, it’s a hair-pulling nightmare. Updating my apps (HEOS/Marantz AVR/Denon AVR) eliminates receivers’ AirPlay functionality until a hard reset is completed on every. single. one. of my devices (iPhone, iPad, WiFi, receivers). Talk about a mess. But that’s just one of the issues. Right now, the app is completely baffled. It thinks I am playing music through Zone2. I’m not. And because the app thinks I’m playing music that way, it renders itself useless. No control of the receiver whatsoever. Marantz/Denon are historic companies that have provided quality products for a long long time. That’s not true anymore. They now offer terrible customer service, struggle with technology integration, and build receivers that play music in a disruptive fashion (think, 2 sec pauses when changing songs). In short, stay away from this company if you can. If you haven’t— you might just be stuck with an abomination of an app. Here’s to hoping they’re acquired by an organization with some decent software capabilities in the near future. Cheers!

Stoped working for older AVRs. I’ve used it for years for my SR7007 and it just stopped working mid 2021, meaning the AVR disappeared and can’t find it anymore. Trying every month and it still can’t find the AVR. Please fix it!

Latest update breaks device connection. The app is generally slow and not very responsive, after the latest update my NR1607 is no longer discoverable even with manual IP address input !!! With this latest version the app is completely unusable, disappointing!

Disappointing. Downloaded this app for my new NR1509 and initially I was quite pleased with it and couldn’t understand the negative reviews. That pleasant feeling disappeared pretty quickly however. The very next time I ran the app it failed to detect my AVR. I tried turning wifi off then back on, turned iPad off and on again (IT Crowd style) but nothing seemed to work. I’ve managed to get it working sporadically over the past month or so but can’t detect any particular pattern I can repeat to ensure it works. It’s all rather hit and miss, and as such a virtually worthless app. I’m a fan of Marantz (my stereo is still working and I bought that in 1978!), and that’s what’s so disappointing.

Dual sub hone vanished. So I couldn’t figure out all the fuss with the app not working was going really well for a year. Firstly it started getting lag on the menu for adjustment. Then I added another sub to my Marantz SR 6014 had dual sub control was great my wife could turn them down when playing music then one day bang gone only 1 sub control and has been for 3 months. It was so simple for my wife to adjust and adjust back now it’s not wife proof can get answers from anyone all firmware ia up to date on both app & Amp I’ve googled daily turned everything off even reloaded from the audessy app. I can tune both in the menu but I don’t want to it’s not wife proof that way. I’m Lost confused and unsure both subs work but one control only. You would think for such a huge brand and trusted brand I’ve only ever owned Marantz the app should be flawless. Come on Marantz make this work. I don’t care if I have to pay $50-$150 for the app if it was seamless. Help help help

Not intuitive. I find this app has good features but it is very clunky and difficult to use

Very poor. It takes a very special talent to create something so ugly and unintuitive and buggy. Both the onkyo and Yamaha apps and superior. Lift your game.

Continual crashing of app. App continually shuts downs when trying to carry out simple functions such as EQ adjustment or sound mode adjustment. Developers worth looking into for functionality purposes. A long way behind many other manufacturers. Hopefully an update in near future will fix the obvious glitches.

No issues.. I thought I’d try this with my NR1608 and iPhone X. Sure, it may not be pretty (it needs to be?) but it has been functioning absolutely fine for the 3 months I’ve had it. I do use the remote that came with the receiver mostly though...call me old-fashioned!

The app shows the avr is not on. The app shows the AVR off and is not able to be turned off or on. SR7010. Eg If I use Spotify to play a list, the amp turns on and plays as expected. However the AVR show off in the app, is useless. You need to unplug the AVR to restore the functionality.

Needs redesign and reimplementation. There’s a lot of functionality in my new NR1711. Very hard to tell from this app if there is an overall vision of how it works, or if all the functionality is covered by the app. It’s a bit of a laundry-list. It’s a very important asset for promotion and use of your very interesting hardware. I suggest Marantz puts the effort in and gets some gifted UI designers to collaborate with your engineers to rework this.

Good Easy App. Don’t get caught up in the very old reviews. I nearly got put off from buying my receiver because of these reviews too. The app works great, haven’t had a complaint yet. I use it as a quick easy app to change speaker settings.

Sluggish Disappointing 🙁. Certainly sluggish / clunky. I too have had difficulties with connection since update. Have found disabling and re-enabling wireless on SR6010 Amp (even though hard cabled) allows app to connect again for a while. App does not match quality of amp. Overall disappointing.

Stop working. My NR1609 not connecting to wifi manually or with iOS devices. Has been broken for months now

Please fix. Can you please update or fix this app. It’s rubbish. I spend $5k on a system then having to rely on this app is ridiculous. Reflects poorly on Marantz as well as a product.

Stopped working on iPhone 6.. Wifes iPhone 7 works fine.. My iPhone 6 can no longer connect. Please update the app

Can’t see media server. If I use the web interface I can select media server as the source and my DLNA servers are displayed. If I use the app on my iPad and select media server as the source no DLNA servers are displayed. Even after I hit refresh.

No longer working on iPhone 12 Pro Max. Worked well on my iPhone 8, but is no longer working on the latest iPhone. It detects the AVRs, but it will not display the control screens any more. I have deleted and reinstalled the app, and the behaviour is consistent The other beef I have with Marantz / Denon is the terrible and very primitive google assistant integration They make great stereo hardware, but the software is lacking What’s worse? They don’t appear to be listening to their customers at all

No working. After last iOS update stopped working with NR1606!!! Device is not recognized even after manual IP address input...

A little with a lot. So many features in my SR6015 amp yet so difficult to navigate with this app. It’s an essential extension of a unit with such a limited built-in display and basic, dedicated remote functionality, so the app must be considered the main controller and designed with the respect that deserves. The UX is from the 90s and not in a good way. Difficult to determine why some pages reveal features some times and not other times without the need to exit the menu location to check. Surround Parameters doesn’t reveal the surround parameter options (eg stereo/dolby…) so this needs to be selected by the dedicated remote by scrolling one by one. So frustrating. Weirder is the ‘web control’ pathway that mirrors the functions of the app but in a browser-like experience with almost-identical menu branches and options - but not quite. Remembering which options are available in the app and which are available via ‘web control’ requires hours of frustrating self-training. I’m almost qualified but not sure I’ll ever fully get the hang of this. The sliders require surgical precision with no haptic feedback or intuitive response to inputs of speed variability. It also drops out regularly/can’t find amp on wifi network. Don’t have an issue with other smart devices on same network, so it’s the app or the amp or both. Do better Marantz. If you reduce unit or remote features they need to be reasonably functional and convenient within the app. It’s a necessity in a product of this calibre.

Stopped working for NR1506. Since the latest app update, my NR1506 is no longer recognised by the app. The device shows no updates to firmware available and if I try to connect via the IP address it says the device is not compatible (it was previously).

Chad. Garbage app does not even turn on or run my app I’ve tried everything all updates unplug etc

Not sure... Very slow and crash all the time with a brand new iPhone 8 plus, my old receiver app was fine

No thank you. This is terrible app, shows lack of leadership at marantz. Cant even make a decent app. Apple should remove this from the App Store.

The App is Crap. As much as I like what the App is supposed to do, it’s an absolute piece of garbage. It almost never loads and all the developers and QA staff should be fired. I appreciate what the App does, but it is incredibly crappily built.

does not work anymore. the app just keeps freezing and crashing does detect the avr i try with my iphone with ios 16 and freeze try with my ipad pro ios16 freezing try with a old iphone with ios15 same thing please do something we pay for high end product and have app like this scrap this and redo all the app for thanks

Not friendly user and slow.... Not friendly user and verrrrry slow...

Cool app, but buggy, and needs dark mode.. Really love the functionality included in this app, but it’s pretty buggy. More often then not the Sound Mode show the incorrect format (I.e., a Music Sound Mode is selected, but the app still shows Movie). It will also change the volume of the receiver at launch which is really annoying. These issues would be more forgivable if I hadn’t spent thousands of dollars on a receiver the app goes with. This is an app that desperately need a dark mode as well. When I’m sitting in the dark watching a movie, I don’t want to blind myself while adjusting settings. What makes this more egregious is they essentially already have a dark mode made with the Denon app.

Pas stable. Parfois il fonctionne, parfois pas sans raison

Slow- crash. Crashing Not recognizing my device Delay in response

Terrible Network Stability. Love my 7010, but the networking can be infuriating. Why is unplugging the unit the only resolution to networking problems? Every other device I own just works and at worst requires a soft reset. You’d think a $2700 (msrp) AVR would just work too. As for the app, when it works it’s pretty useful. Unfortunately if it won’t detect the AVR (which happens way too often) the only option is to physically pull the power cord. App works best when adjusting settings and viewing the current input status info, but the playlist functionality for DNLA music is pretty awful as is the consistency in album art support.

Worse receiver we ever owned and super expensive. Awful, awful, awful.. crashes, have to keep unplugging and replugging to make it work. The USB is pointless, it works for a couple songs and then stops working “says it lost signal”.

Une app vraiment nulle. L’app n’arrive même pas à détecter mon NR1200 et il n’est même pas possible d’en aviser Marantz.

Doesn’t work!. Doesn’t control anything on my 6S plus or X. Works randomly when it feels like it and even then takes 5 seconds to change an input. Slow and terrible overall. Looks nothing like the fancy pictures here. Read this before you buy Marantz, not worth it. When you buy a receiver in 2018 you expect an app to work!

Great addon to have for my NR1506. Already a great value and versatile little amp, this app is the icing on the cake. Great all around package from Marantz.

Needs a complete redesign. I wish the holdings company would merge the denon and marantz apps then do a complete redesign. Because for controlling $1000-5000 products that thing is stuck in 2005. Having a 2016 stamp on your brand new product is not where it’s at either.

Takes 10 seconds to launch. Bad dated design and always loses connection. The worst part is that it takes 10 seconds to load on an iPhone 11 max. Imagine the volume is blasting and it takes 10 Seconds to launch. Slowest app I’ve ever used.

Doesn’t work. Worked up until the last version.. So great you screw up something that once worked

Inconsistent operation. After 30 years of commitment to the brand I will no longer purchase another Marantz unit . They need to get on board with today’s standard, regular software technology updates for both app and firmware updates. Very buggy and never a pepper update .

Amazing app. The app works amazing no problem at all Use it all the time it’s nice to have control right from your phone thanks marantz

Overall great App with minor hiccups. I use this App every single day. While I do agree it’s laggy, buggy, and sometimes-have-to-shut-it-down-for-it-to-work-y, Denon/Marantz have made a comprehensive remote to control the most intricate of functions and settings with the least frustration. Accessing Audyssey settings to change Dynamic Range Compression or enhance Dialog is very easy. Using the remote is clunky and interrupts my source to pull up the GUI. This App has completely replaced the remote on my SR7012. Too many negative reviews, especially when compared to competitors control Apps. Get this, learn how to maximize it, enjoy controlling your AVR and an easier life with a component that’s not always the most user friendly.

Back to 5 stars when you fix app, worked fine before. No longer works with iPad and SR6012. Please fix.

Buggy. Smart select stopped working. It did work, no more though.

Tristesse totale.

Xr ios 13. Crashing when trying to use the curser.

Doesn’t work anymore. No point.. So I’m going elsewhere

Great remote app and easy to use. There are lots of functions in this app. It practically replaces the physical remote. I only use the real remote for volume control. The app is really great for experimenting settings, because of the user interface. I can’t imagine trying out different audyssy settings without this app. There are occasions when the app freezes that can only be fixed by power cycling the receiver (SR6015). But this has not happened in the last six months. Probably the issue has been fixed by firmware update and app update. It is a good sign that Marantz puts emphasis in their app, because this is the way to keep their receivers relevant in the current market, which is flooded with all-in-one sound bar speakers.

The worst. Does not work. And no Marantz it’s not my router since it’s the only app that bugs. Fix it please. Be serious.

Found My Remote. It was on a shelf where my shoes are. Still happy I have this app

Doesn’t connect most of the time. I would say it connects to the receiver less than 30% of the time, it never detects it. I gave up on using this app.

Great app - use it regularly. I’ve had my SR6012 for a long time now and this app is used all the time - use it on my iPhone 8 and 2016/2018 iPads. The latter is cooler graphically but both are easy to use, app has gotten consistently more reliable with each update too. So easy to slide the subs down to -12dB in the evening when the kids are asleep, love how easy it is to change modes etc. Definitely pair this with the Heos app and I also found the MultiEQ app a must have.

Can’t get it to work. I have a SR6011 and this app won’t detect it. Has a local IP address, latest firmware, and network control on. Not sure what else to do.

很好用. 初次用App控制功放,直接播放手机里的音乐。不错。只是不能设置所有的参数。目前还没有播放视频的功能。希望在我的SR6012上以后可以。

Crashes. Newest version of app constantly crashes with iOS 13.2 and iPhone X. As soon as I open app and hit power it crashes. Sometimes the AVR powers up and other times I have to reopen app and start all over. Once the AVR is on then I have have to reopen app to use. Super annoying. I tried deleting and reinstalling app which didn’t help. Please fix your app!!

Getting worse day by day. Don’t know what the developer’s are doing but this app is getting unresponsive and worst as days go by. Takes too long to launch and sometimes doesn’t even connect with the receiver. The Bluetooth always lag while fast forwarding or skipping songs.

Unusable App. Hello iphone 8+ on iOS 12.2 App is crashing every time I open it. Thanks

Extremely annoying & disappointing update. I don't have nor do I want an Apple Music library. Now every time I start this new version I get inappropriate & annoying message about Apple music service. I also do NOT want this app to collect info about either me or my use of this app. Shame on Marantz. My good opinion about Marantz hardware is now dropping fast.

So buggy! Insane.. This app is a colossal piece of garbage. It barely works. So buggy. So delayed. So painfully slow. A 15 year old could write a better app than this. Needs to be fixed for such a high end brand.

Worked, but stopped…. This app functioned adequately for me prior to the last iOS update (14.6). Now it doesn’t work on iPhone or iPad.. which sucks!

Used to work. Used to work ok. Had to delete the app and re-download. Now it detects my av8805 but when u select it, the cursor just spins endlessly. Can’t use. Firmware is up to date. Too bad because it was very useful when it did work previously

Marantz 2016 avr app. This worked great until yesterday when I did the update for it in AV8805 but now if I hit the info button the app crashes. I tried pulling the plug on my processor and turning off my phone to reboot and no luck. Doesn’t anybody test the changes in updates before releasing them? I Probst blu answer that question myself and stay no. I would have given the app a zero but that was not an option.

Great features but WiFi drops constantly. I love using this app to control the AVR when it’s connected to wifi. At least once a week I have to go through the system set up for wifi connection. It’s the only device on my wifi system that won’t stay connected.

Worst app ever. Love my 7 Series Marantz AVR but this app is awful at best. Zero stars if I could. Works fine when it recognizes the receiver but that’s only 20% if the time. System is set up correctly, but sometimes it feels like finding the receiver on the network, and most of the time it doesn’t. Had same issue with my 5 Series. Frustrating.

Old reviews. I’m using this app that has been updated as of last month and it’s working like a champ with my receiver!

Pure trash. I can’t believe a $1000 receiver Marantz SR 5011 has an app that only works 20% of the time. So frustrating. The settings set via app reset themselves every 5 mins, the app can never find the AVR 90% of the time. I’ve tried Ethernet hard wired and wireless and the problems persist either way. Bluetooth is hit or miss. Wild. And I have the router just a few feet away. I want my money back!

Crash after this last update. Strange how updates are expected to be improvements and yet they sometimes make things worse instead.

No longer works. Up until recently, it worked great. Now, not at all; stuck on opening/connecting screen. Can’t figure out why. Reinstalling didn’t fix it. Stereo connected to the network a-okay. Giving two stars only because it used to work great.

It used to work. But now it will not recognize my SR 6011 even though it’s on the list of supported receivers. I get an error message that says this device is not supported when I try to add my device. My SR 6011 has the latest firmware. Up until a few days ago the app work fairly well and I would rate it about 3 1/2 stars. Every once in a while when I hit the refresh button it will briefly show control screen but then it goes away. I have iOS11.4.1.

Very Poor Functionality. Somebody wrote a 1 star review about a year ago and now a year later it still deserves 1 star. I have an iPhone 8 and beyond being able to turn the receiver on and off and controlling the volume it is really useless. Marantz always had a good reputation but I expected much more when I spent over $1k on a 2 channel receiver that really doesn’t work at the level it should. A true shame. All I can say is they need to wake up and smell the coffee. Barry New Jersey

App stopped responding. Majority of the time since the new iOS updates this app won’t work. I change volume for no change to happen … it’ll revert back. No buttons work. I’ll uninstall then connect etc. no change. For the amount of effort I’ll just use my harmony remote 🤷🏻‍♂️

DO NOT UPDATE. This app worked great for about 2 years, but when I updated to the current version (3.4.5) it completely stopped recognizing my NR1608. Even the “Can not find my AVR” option is broken as tapping step one pops up a blank window with no list of AVRs to choose from. Removing and re-installing the app won’t help either. I really wish I could just roll this app back to the previous version.

Not a robust app design. App worked well with my SR6010 initially, then suddenly one day it would not recognize the receiver. I have installed and removed the app several times over the course of a year, and sometimes it works but more often it does not. I don’t know if iOS updates are the cause, but if it is it seems like the app developer should know in advance of iOS updates and keep the app functioning.

One remote to rule them all. Works smoothly with all my connected components. I love the Bluetooth connection. Easy to use with components unseen in media cabinet. I’m surprised that it has an average rating of two stars.

How did this get into the store?. Truly. Did anyone test this? One day, it’s fine. The next, it fails to recognize the receiver. Or the app itself starts acting weird, like sometimes letting you turn on the App Sounds (don’t. just don’t. ) and then not letting you immediately revert the horror you just enabled... the option simply disappears until a few minutes later when it decided to reappear, like the mists of Avalon. Great hardware, but what good is it without a decent interface??

Decent when it works. Slow launching/connecting to receiver. Does not work with 11.2. Sits and spins indefinitely. I expect a lot more considering the price of the receiver and the name attached to it. The physical remote seems to have a limited reception window, so tend to rely more on this app than I’d like, but now with 11.2 I’m pretty much wholly reliant on HDMI-CEC until this is fixed.

Marantz is doomed. I have an 8015 and this app has not changed since I had an early model 8xxx series. It’s very basic and not very user friendly. The developers early update the app and when they do, there’s always an issue. This recent update causes a lot of wifi issues. If you’re looking for a new high end receiver, don’t go with Marantz/Denon. Do your research and spend your money elsewhere.

New Update and iOS 13 causes app to crash when selecting AVR Info.. The app crashes as of this latest update for me. I’m running iOS 13 on the iPhone pro max. I rebooted my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app to no avail. Developers please fix this bug. I rely on this app heavily, using it almost daily. No remote because my AVR is in a ventilated cabinet. Other than that when it worked it was an excellent app. Excellent fodder for my OCD.

Mediocre App. I’ve been using this app for a year now and it’s total garbage. It rarely connects and when it finally does it drops the connection. There’s really poor implementation and Marantz doesn’t seem to care. Other audio companies have great apps that actually work well with their products not Marantz though. So many decades in the audio industry with mediocre parts on receivers and a crappy app.

This should be in beta stage. This app gambas so many flaws that is result very annoying to use it! It needs a lot of work. The app loses connection with the receiver very often and when you try to reconnect the most of the time it doesn’t connect. I just don’t know why.... the quality sound of the receiver is amazing however this app downgrade the experience. It is a pity. MARANTZ GET TO WORK!!!!

Worked at first. So I set this app up when I first got the receiver. A couple of weeks later I bough some more speakers, went through set up and this app stopped working. I have deleted and installed the app, reset the receiver etc. it won't connect back up. This is sad as I really liked it while it worked but this is BS that it won't reconnect again. Oh well the coolness factor of using my iPad for the remote is gone. Please fix this app!

Absolute Garbage. The app has always been buggy outdated crap. Now, all of a sudden it won’t connect to my Receiver even though it finds it in the Detected AVR list. You click it and just spins forever. How do you not have a QA person at the very least making sure it is functional. Now it’s just useless and spent hours trying to get it to work. It does not work anymore!

Works great with my NR1200. Not the prettiest app but I’ve been using it for about a year with my NR1200 and haven’t encountered any problems. Connects quickly and works reliably.

Stopped working. I have the AV7704 preamplifier and at first, the app was great, but lately, although it detects my receiver (which is connected to the same internet) when I select it the screen goes into the cycling “thinking” mode and stays in that mode. So I have to turn it off. Plus, why is it still called “2016”? We’re in 2019! I recommend updating the app and fixing whatever bug is causing it not to accept the selection of the receiver even when it’s showing as being detected.

Terrible. I had the previous version on my SR7007. It was extremely user friendly. This version is a confusing mess for no reason other than the sake of being different. In addition, getting my separate zones to play has been impossible. Now I have to make time to sit out home and figure all of this out with marantz customer service. So frustrating

i can't get app to load. i got a marantz 7011, and i LOVE it. audio separation and clarity is better than any prior recover i've had (and that's been 5-6). i use sonos almost exclusively for music at home, so need a way to control receiver for volume and power, while sonos app handles the rest. i can't get this app to load. it detected my receiver and after that either stalls or crashes on opening. love the idea, but this app needs work for stability and reliability

Total Garbage. I had this app for a couple of months and it worked relatively okay till recently when some features stopped working altogether. Then responsiveness to commands slowed to a crawl. Do the developers even check this thing regularly for bugs, or once in a blue moon and worry more about their bottom line?!

Good App but could be better. I like the app a lot and it’s ability to control my Marantz receiver but I don’t care for how it pairs with HEOS, most of the app it’s just dead space the images on the App Store show what I’m listening to but in the app I just have a blank screen.

Handy App with a Few Bugs. I use this app all the time to manage zones. I have a universal remote, which only controls the main zone, but I often want to control Zone 2. My universal remote can’t do it, hence this app is extremely helpful.

Old apps became broken, none work now. Old apps worked. They removed the old apps from the App Store. They stopped launching on my devices and required update to this new one. This new app should work according to documentation. Tried everything. Doesn’t work. They worked great on the old apps. This one is rubbish.

Works Great. Recognized my SR-8015 on the first try, and have had no issues connecting or controlling since. Not sure how much I’ll use it, but it’s handy to have in case my remote isn’t nearby.

This could be amazing app.. This app could be for a great hardware. App look is fine. UX definitely needs help. I’m coming from Yamaha AV. It has very good working app with great UX. This app don’t have dsp switch option. Too use that feature we need to use it remote control function, which doesn’t give any information. Also we can’t see that on marantz because it has a screen cover. It is same for tone setting under option button. This is a half cooked app.

Needs to improve.. It's truly disappointing to encounter such issues with a company renowned for its exceptional home theater systems. The app consistently crashes and struggles to locate the receiver, lacking intuitive functionality when it does manage to function. The layout and design should be revamped for a more user-friendly experience.

Could use some UX on that team. Wow- this app reminds me of early computer programming. We have the power of apps and interfaces and none of that is leveraged in this app. What you get are some functions that work but it could be so much more. Please hire a few designers and make this useful.

App needs major overhaul. My Marantz SR5011 AVR stopped connecting to the app recently. Everything is updated (firmware, Apple iOS) and my iPhone and iPad only connects 1% of the time. So frustrating to believe in a company and then spend a considerable amount of money and then feel like you get the shaft. When the app worked, it looks like it's from 1999. Come on Marantz. Is this the best you got?

Maranta should be embarrassed. About as counter-intuitive as you can get. A toss-up whether it will actually work on any given day. I genuinely don’t understand why these companies struggle so much to understand modern UI. They are essentially begging to be replaced by the tech giants who will eventually direct the eye of Sauron on this industry and wipe them out by rolling out intelligible UI and by jettisoning 90% of the unused or antiquated functions companies like Marantz continue to support.

Perfect app. This app is perfect and easy to use for my AV7706. I have no idea why it has a low grade, maybe the user's problem. Make sure both AVR and the app have the SSID wi-fi ( same network ). Good luck to all and enjoy.

Wonderful but needs some bug fixes. I noticed that when I change the sound mode, it appears to remain the same in the app but changes on the receiver after a few tries. Confusion ensues.

Constant problems. This app is always difficult to use. It’s slow, things don’t load fully, often doesn’t work at all. I can’t think of one time we’ve used it without an issue. Needs a major upgrade and bug fixing.

Was great, suddenly crashes. This app has worked great for about 4 months. I use it all the time for settings and volume control. Now suddenly it crashes when I go into certain menus. Never happened before. Delete and reinstall, same problem. Bummer it just suddenly doesn’t work right.

Works with my refurbished NR-1506. Definitely not a modern feeling app, but it actually was easier to use this app to rename my receiver than through the onscreen menus. The app is great for digging into menus and changing many, many settings. Works. Worth the download. Plus...$free :-)

App used to work, now it doesn’t. I have an SR5010 upstairs and an SR6011 in the den. The app used to easily work for volume adjustments, power on/off and other basic functions. Now it won’t even detect either unit. Firmwares are up to date, I’ve unplugged the units, rebooted the iPad...occasionally the 5010 will be detected but not the 6011. The app is useless. I expect better from Marantz.

No so good. I’ve had this aphorism about 8 months. Has generally worked well with my Marantz ST7011. I mainly used to check audio output channels etc. About 4 days ago I performed a firmware update to my AVR (released May 2018). Suddenly the ap will not load or does then immediately crashes. Something ain’t right. Too bad

Fixed the crash issue!. Last update fixed the app crash issue, took over a week, but they got it fixed.

Trash. This app used to work. Not very well, but it worked enough to turn the unit on and off, adjust volume and choose the input. They updated it a couple weeks ago and it hasn’t worked since. I uninstalled/reinstalled, checked network settings, rebooted my phone, unplugged my av receiver…all to no avail. They took a poor app and removed any remaining function. Nice job.

App works fine but volume. App limits volume to 74, same with HEOS app. So maybe it’s an airplay issue? Channel level adjust in app does not reflect settings in receiver. Otherwise the app seems to work ok.

Was adequate, but now not working at all. The UI/UX of this app is questionable, like how many menus etc. just to switch from one receiver to another, but it basically worked. Now with the latest iOS upgrade it doesn’t work at all either on my iPhone 11 Pro or my better half’s iPhone 12 Mini. Completely broken. And the last update 4 months ago. USELESS.

Stopped working. App was working fine for years. Suddenly all controls don’t work. Display says “Power Off” even though the unit is on and functioning. If I go to Zone Controls it even shows what input is currently selected but still no info on audio mode etc.

Not quite there. I primarily want to use this to stream from my personal library on my home network, and it only plays music from the server about 10% of the time. I can airplay from my phone pretty consistently but the server almost never works. My Sonos doesn’t have any problem streaming from the server. Ever.

Worked great and now it won’t connect. I purchased the Cinema 50 the day it was released and app worked great until about a week ago. It won’t connect to the receiver at all no matter what I do. I’ve tried resetting network on receiver, I’ve deleted and added app, I’ve tried just about everything but no luck.
