Favorable. This app is wonderful, helpful and easy to use...

No longer works. Wasn’t a great app before, but it worked on my iPhone 6 with iOS 10. Upgraded to an iPhone 7 and iOS 11 and it no longer functions at all. Connects for a few seconds and then disconnects. Can’t stream via Bluetooth and it doesn’t work as a remote. This was one of the reasons I chose this receiver. Very disappointing.

Very nice. Like big remote ... My ipad But need more detail setup. Like speaker setep etc,,, anyway. Its good

Pretty useless, maybe not the apps fault.. The app seems to search for a connected device, if it doesn't find one, it displays a message that you need to connect one, the crashes back to home screen. The real issue is that the receiver loses the Bluetooth connection regardless of the Bluetooth standby mode. So in order to use the app, you must first connect your device through Bluetooth, the immediately open up the app. I should also mention that when you pair your device, the receiver gets set to Bluetooth input automatically.

Crappy. This app is half assed. Denon is a big company, I expect more. I mean, did anybody use this before releasing it??

Does not work. Same issue as many. Connects for 2 seconds then nothing

Not working. The app says I am not connected via Bluetooth. Meanwhile I am actually connected via Bluetooth with my stereo and playing audio just fine. App crashes immediately after this initial error message.

Doesn't even try to work. Was excited when I found this app that I thought I could with my new Denon AVR. I followed the elementary instructions and never could get the app to work. It crashes 2 seconds after start. Uninstalled and tried again. Same thing. App is a piece! Hope my AVR isn't!

Useless. This app does nothing but let you change the source of the audio and the volume. How about letting us get into actual setup of the speaker system? No? Ok.

Bluetooth Remote. Very buggy.

AVR-s500bt isn't supported. Why are there only two other people that wrote any kind of review? And they weren't able to connect either.

Terrible. Not compatible with Roku televisions. This could be an amazing app given wifi control allows control without the need for the receiver to be in Eyesite (receiver can be in a closet or closed door cabinet). Unfortunately the app continually loses connection, can’t shut/exit the Settings screen and defaults to radio/tuner when you open the app/connect to wifi...sad

No issues here.. I’ve had this app for quite a while. I pair my iPhone (Xr, iOS 13.1.2) with the receiver using Bluetooth, which turns the receiver on and sets it to Bluetooth. Then I fire up pandora, sxm, or 8player. I can listen all day. No drops, pauses, crashes. I listened all day yesterday, and am doing so now as I write this review. Nothing fancy, but it works perfectly.

Problems with app. Still having problems with the app working. I pair my device then opened the remote. The remote works just fine if I turn on the receiver first, but I am unable to turn it on from my device. It keeps stating that I should pair the device that the avr and then then app crashes. Please fix this issue so I can use the remote features.

An giant piece of poop. That is it. Worthless app. Why even make it? Enough to make me switch brands.

What a piece of xxx. You pair, you start, then few seconds and it drops the connection. To start again, the device reboot to reconnect, switch to something else and few seconds later it drops. With so many complaints from so many customers for so long and no fix. One would think the developer would have been fired by now but may be Mr. Denon himself is the developer. What a shame.

Stuck in ‘Connect to AVR’. Worked okay originally now I can’t do anything in the app as it always set to connect to AVR when it’s already connected. I know this because I can play music from my phone to the receiver

Chalk up another for app crash. Used to work when I bought recover a couple iOS versions. Customer support?

Device not supported (S540BT). This is supposed to be available for my particular model, and yet — it’s still showing as an unsupported device. Get it together, Denon.

Does not work with iPhone 7. Previously functioned with my iPhone 6 but will not work with my iPhone 7. Given my setup, Bluetooth functionality is important to me....so seriously considering another product (and not another phone). Annoying!

Doesn’t deserve even one star. I so hope the receiver works better than this useless app. Opened it one time, instantly froze and cannot open anything. FROZEN !!

The Freeze. Freezes up after opening . Not worth the effort to even download for free

Needs default customizations but. It seems to support most of the basic features that the AVR has, which is itself a basic model.

Can’t get past set up menu. I did everything that is said to do on the set up menu. And when I tried to go back into the app, I keep getting a message about the song was not fully downloaded from the cloud or may be DRM protected. Use the default music app to download this song?

Unacceptable. I don’t even know how or why they put out this 1980s quality app. Such a disappointment. Why even bother? The bluetooth remote needs to be added every time you return to the house. Terrible!

Please fix this. Crashes constantly. Tells me my music isn’t downloaded completely? If Denon isn’t going to support this app, they need to remove it from their list of features. False advertising!

Aargh!!. Doesn't work!

Cant get past bluetooth. Obvious bug. It connects through bluetooth. Music comes through but then…nothing. App just freezes. No menu. Nothing.

What’s the deal?. 1st world problems I know but dammit Denon if you could ever get your apps to work as well as your equipment ……..Worked great for 4-5 weeks and now it’s stuck on the opening screen. I’ve deleted and reloaded multiple times with no success.

Disappointing. Connectivity is inconsistent. Switching sources causes connectivity drops. Quick selects don't work. Great idea, but serious tweeking is needed.

Connect To AVR Screen Wont Close. Can’t get the “connect to AVR” screen to close. IPhone 8, ISO13.1.3, Denon AVR-S510BT. Bluetooth connects, can play ITunes but the dam screen won’t close!

Not good. Defaults to Bluetooth and switches to that input when I open the app. I would like to be able to control the default control. Every time I try to open it while watching tv it will kick me out of that input and I have to switch to cable/sat to get to where I was before so I can use the remote. It would work great if I had more control over how the app operates. There are no settings to allow you to make it work for your setup. They should be allowed to advertise this app with their receivers.

AVR-S500bt doesn't work with Apple devices. What's the deal?

Works fine. It connected automatically once paired with the receiver. It works great, it's just VERY limited to what settings you want to change. Other than that I would say it's just ok

Always Crashes. Can't even pair it with my receiver.

Used to work great but... When I got this a year ago, everything went great. I just tried it today, and I can no longer turn my speaker on or off with the app. Not terrible, but certainly disappointing. The app keeps showing I need to connect to Bluetooth, but when I play my music, it works. Again, it works, so not a huge issue. They must have had an update. I’m afraid to delete the app and reinstall because of the issues I’m reading in other reviews. I guess a bird in the hand...

Please make app even better. I feel this app is to basic for a great company. I can do more with the remote it comes with so why bother with this? I would like to have a layout of all my adjustments for my sound that I can control so I’m not flipping on each little thing with the remote so I can control my levels, distance, bass, treb, vol, hertz, crossovers, and so forth for a iPad or tablet app. Then the app would be worth the download. Arrrrr. Does not work with iPhone 7 even with current updates

A good idea, unrealised …. The app starts up with a dialog box stating “This song may not fully downloaded [sic] from the cloud or may be DRM protected. Use the default music app to download this song from the cloud or upgrade your songs to DRM free versions.” and duly crashes. I wish this app would work. Behind the above dialog box is the hint of a virtual remote control for my AVR-X510BT. Update (v1.1.0): The app still "crashes" to the homepage.

One of the worse Apps.... I linked my HTS receiver and after just a few seconds it disconnects and states that I need to reconnect (?) very difficult to pair and manage, not happy with it. UI and UX at an all time low, expected better from Denon since its regarded as a high end brand.

Won't work at all!. Says it's connected but goes to instructions after and can't get back to the remote app. DOESNOT WORK!

Still doesn't work.... Update 10/27/15: Still doesn't work, does the same thing as below. I even executed "forget this device" in the settings app and re-paired. Am I doing something wrong?? Looks nice but continuously fails to work stating that I need to pair my device to my AVR and then the app crashes. I'm clearly connected and playing music wirelessly just fine. Please resolve this issue so we can actually use this app's features! Model: DENON AVR-S500BT
