Good, needs one more feature. This is a decent app that gives pretty good control over the receiver functions. In my situation the amp is tucked away in another room so WiFi control is key. Airplay2 works great as well. The one additional feature would be an option to set “scenes” for speaker control. In my case I have the b speakers on my patio and the a speakers plus a subwoofer in my living room. If I run the outdoor speaker (B) only, the indoor sub still plays. I can manually turn it off in the app, but a macro or scene setting that does that automatically would be awesome. As is it takes a number of steps to turn on the b speakers then turn off the sub. And reversal to play in other room....that’s why I gave it three rather than five stars. Add that feature and this is a five star app.

Light years beyond Denon's remote. Others have groused about connectivity which I believe has everything to do with the robustness of their home networks, especially the WiFi kind. My hardwired Denon AVR responds quickly to this app, displaying all of the AVR's settings at a glance and enabling instant tweaks — a huge improvement over repeatedly punching the Setup, Back and arrow buttons on the AVR's supplied remote while overcoming its need for line of sight transmission. Controlling or shutting down the system from elsewhere in my home? Brilliant!

Convenient way to control Zone 2. This app works great for controlling my system while listening to music in my zone 2 room. You can also access almost all of the system settings from the app which I find more convenient than the system remote since that isn’t backlit. HEOS native integration would be nice instead of a separate app but not a big deal. Love that I can control my Blu-ray player that’s connected to my AVR using the app. This is a plus since it’s in a console behind IR unfriendly doors so it’s own remote won’t work with it there.

Works great!. I wanted this app to work, was discouraged by the ratings, and am very impressed by how good it is. As long as your phone or tablet are on SAME network as the receiver it all goes smoothly. I had then on different ones at first and it took awhile to figure it out. Once Firmware is updated (there was one in Dec17) app immediately worked and supported most functions of the physical remote. Even better, I don’t need to have the remote out anymore cluttering up the room or getting misplaced. This app works great for me, highly recommend it.

Stay far, far, away.. Even with Ethernet the stability of this app and our denon receiver itself is terrible. This app feels like it was hacked together in 2 months. We have a fairly stable network and even simple tasks like turning on Sirius or changing the channel is a 5-10 minute struggle because buttons just don’t do anything or they produce extremely unpredictable behavior. Meanwhile airplay on my phone and any other kind of streaming on other devices works perfectly fine. Best of all our new denon of less than a year old was deemed too old to have native AirPlay 2 support. That is how denon treats it’s $1000 products. The device model itself has less than a year in age and they are already cutting it off from features. Do not buy denon.

More bugs than the last version. First time using the new version and it wont change input to tv audio. Well, changes it, but i dont get the tv audio display in the app anymore. Also, doesnt turn off the avr anymore. Power button in app doesn’t work for some reason. Still cant turn on with alexa or choose input. “Sorry, i cannot find a device named den”. Guess i will try changing its name in Alexa. Sometimes i cant change its volume with alexa either. Sometime works setting volume to 55. Sometimes says volume can only be set from 1-10. Wish it worked better. Still no google play music support.

It’s not that bad. While it’s not “intuitive” that some might desire, it does what is intended and is easier than using e remote. I think there’s a lot of features and customization that just don’t allow a quick setup. Setting up an a/v with all of the features and functionality it todays electronic world is not easy. There’s not just home theater sounds and simple music playback, but multi-room configurations, setting up for gaming and other inputs. I love the fact that I can tweak and make adjustments on the fly with this app. My wife doesn’t like the bass rattling her art off the walls watching movies. SoI can have the app open and reduce the sub a few decibels to her liking for this input only. I can have music playing in multiple rooms and quickly make volume adjustments as needed. The bottom line is, every a/v system I’ve owned takes both time and patience to learn and perfect the settings. Patience Grasshopper!

Still buggy after update.. Like the apple play but getting it to link up to main zone and zone 2 is buggy. Example, I’ll choose the receiver in apple play and everything turns on fine however receiver stays on whatever port it was before, when I go to the app to select my phone it brings up an interface in the app but won’t control it. Going back to main zone it still stays on the wrong port. Unplug the receiver and reset then it works as expected but what a pain because I have it in a cabinet.

Works fine - when it works!. Found this app very handy on iPad and used it often when got my S960H - and then there was an iOS update and poof the app is just useless as it can never find my AVR. Open the app and looks for receiver but can never find it no matter how many times I tap Refresh button it never shows up. I actually miss it as standard remote is very basic and the app made it easier to change settings. Would’ve given app 4 stars if could use it! DM is a big company and have no excuse not to have enough people to keep this app up to date.

Heos vs Sonos. I had several Sonos devices before upgrading my Denon receiver several years ago. I am still running Sonos on the second floor of my house. I originally bought some heos devices for the first floor to integrate with the new Denon AVR which had Heos. It seemed like a good idea and offered more power and volume for my outside speakers. It really does have great surround sound when everything works. I regularly have problems with the system finding the Denon receiver. The app is far from bulletproof and glitches up regularly. Conversely, even when the Heos system is giving me fits, which is often, the Sonos system works like a charm. Sonos is really close to bulletproof, works all the time and seldom glitches, if ever. I am seriously considering dumping all of the Heos devices, and I have several, and replacing them with Sonos. The Heos system has been a disappointment from the beginning and unfortunately it has not improved in the past 3 or so years since I bought these devices. The hardware is good stuff but the software is doggie do do. I can’t understand why they can’t get this working better. I am still hopefully but it seems like they should have had enough time to fix these problems so it is doubtful that it will ever really work well.

Software is crap. I find the fact that someone else has same problem with the app not being able to find device is just stupid. It seems if I shut off my WiFi or Bluetooth on my phone it won’t find device later when I want to use it. First time it happened had to delete app reload it which then cause all settings to be gone. Now today that doesn’t work. Tried sending data for them to fix but since the pile of crap app can’t find device can’t answer the first question which won’t let you submit the data logs. Super sweet waste of money.

Works on X3300W, does not find X3000. I like this app. A lot. I would like it a lot more if it would control both my AVRs. The other Denon remote app effortlessly sees both receivers, and third party remote apps have no problem seeing these two amps. Why can’t this app do likewise? In fact, my iPad does not even show this app in my Settings area. It’s like a stealth app or something. The issue is I’m using the X3000 as a distribution amp, and I really need the ability to control its individual speaker channel volume levels. This app does exactly that on my 3300. Please make it work on the 3000!

Probably need to start from scratch on this one. Using a receiver with just a remote is confusing unless you understand the whole menu structure and what each button does, an app should fix that right? Not this one, it feels like someone just designed an app to mimic the remote, not an app to control a receiver in an intuitive manner. -Speaker setup needs to be more obvious and have a section devoted to it, not forcing you back through then receivers on screen setup. -Selecting output type on the inputs is really corny, I didn’t even think to tap the button again to change the type, had to hunt around online in forums, this should be a drop down -would be cool if HEOS stuff appeared in here as optional speakers for other room audio. Maybe delays kill that functionality? -the manual needs to include full navigation paths! It doesn’t help to know you can do something if you have to hunt through every menu to look for it. -lots of other random stuff, but it seems like the basis for everything is that it was never designed like an app to control it in an intuitive manner. It was either designed by someone who loves the remote or just to mimic it, either one doesn’t help us out.

Latest update. Glad I haven’t updated yet because if it doesn’t connect to the AVR, what’s the point? I’ll keep checking the reviews until I see it’s been fixed. If the version you have is still working, don’t update it until you are certain, based on the most current reviews, that it will continue to work.

It’s a Virtual Remote for your Phone. I’m hopping on to review since I use this app a handful of times throughout the week on other peoples network/Denon AVRs and it definitely beats using the remote. I get it, it doesn’t give you all the bells and whistles and the UI is pretty old like, but it’s great to have on hand when you need to see what your receiver is actually doing in real time. I also tend to use the local IP address and remote into Denon via laptop, so maybe I’m used to seeing a more “basic” UI. The App for me is a useful tool that - if you know what to look for - you can control your receiver from the couch. In my opinion, if you have a receiver & have the knowledge to understand all those settings, navigating the app should be doable as well. In Summary: doesn’t look the best, but it’s a great app to have on your phone if you have a Denon, because it definitely doesn’t hurt to have more control.

Full control over the receiver!. I’m able to power on and off the receiver, change input (with 4 quick selects at the bottom), change volume, change speaker levels, link to the heos app, and set the sound mode all perfectly. I give it a 4.5 stars as I wish heos and denon was one app and had the ability to open a keyboard when having to type in settings for the receiver.

App works great.. I don’t understand all the negative reviews, I must be missing something. This app works just like the Marantz one and they both perform well. Might be people are expecting things the app wasn’t designed to do. It has all the controls you need and from my experience it has never failed just like the Marantz version. I love it.

Needs Work. Update: The issues I was having previously seen to have been corrected. The app still needs work overall, but it works reasonably well for what it is. This app was doing the job for me until the last update. It wasn’t great, but it did what I needed. With this last update I’ve lost the ability to control the level on subwoofer 2. Subwoofer 1 is there and adjusts fine. Both subs work fine and are both configured in audyssey. I can control the level of both without any problem in the receiver settings. I mostly used the app to change sub and center levels on the fly and change sound modes, so it’s pretty annoying that I can no longer quickly adjust the level as needed.

App not loading my AVR-650H receiver - fix. I purchased my Denon AVR-S650H a month ago and installed this app to control multiple settings. I love the receiver and the app worked great until an iOS update on my phone the week of Jan 4, 2021. When I opened the app and selected my receiver name, I had this loading or spinning graphic but the app never opened the control screen. I tried removing the app and re-installing but that didn’t help. I have my receiver hard wired not wireless. Here is the fix...unplug your receiver from the power source and wait 15 seconds then plug it back in. Wait another minute or 2 for the receiver to reboot. Finally, open your app and it should work. It worked for me!

Flawless app since 2021. I’ve never had any issues with this or the HEOS app and my S750H. Even with three new routers and new DHCP configurations I never had a issue with connectivity. love the integration with Apple Airplay! The ability to access and modify almost any setting of the AVR through the app web interface is the biggest advantage, in my opinion.

Multiple receivers. The app is decent. I don’t have too much in the way of predictability or responsiveness or no more or less then sonos etc. what would improve the rap for me is if you didn’t have to drill down so much to switch receivers. I have a CI series receiver who’s app is easier to switch to other zones to control sources and volumes. The denon AVR app has more feature control but is less nimble. Maybe some smart dev can give us the best of both worlds.

Recent Changes?. I came to look at recent reviews as I just started to experience problems connecting to our AVR-S760H and thought it may be due to recent app change or needing an app update. Unfortunately its looking to be a wireless issue with the receiver itself as it is no longer connecting by wireless to the router and the many devices we've used to connect to it (via this app or directly) can no longer see it. As this app and the receiver go hand-in-hand (no reason to use the app without a compatible Denon receiver), so 4-Stars for the app as the regular updates and features, although buggy at times, tended to work and were very useful but 0-stars for the receiver as it appears to no longer support the app due to connection issues, therfore netting this app 2-Stars at this time. I'll investigate Denon's hardware support and revise this review accordingly.

Denon AVR. Love this app. I see some bad reviews here, but those are mostly older it looks like. They seem to have worked all the bugs out now. I have 2 Denon Receivers, and a 4 Zone HEOS drive, and a couple I’ve Denon Home 150’s. I have 5.1 in my family room, 9.2 in my theater, speakers in my office, garage, master bath, master Bedroom, and patio, and it all works flawlessly together.

Worse than before. Latest update = zone 2 is gone. Can I downgrade to two versions ago? This app mostly worked then. Simply cannot use app to turn on the receiver and then quickly set input to online music. Does not work. Receiver does not respond. Force close app and try again, and you get to wait for it to scan the network looking for a compatible unit. Then it still doesn't act right so I end up grabbing the stock remote and everything works. Receiver seems to work fine and has no problem responding to commands from the IR remote. The app works great once the receiver has been on for a while, but by then I've already set my input and volume with the IR remote so who cares. Focus your efforts on cold starts. I switched from an onkyo for the same frustration with that garbage app.

Works well, no need for physical remote. Perhaps this app did not work well in the past but it's current iteration has been pretty flawless for me. I'm using it to control both my X3400 and X4400 and it's pretty responsive. I'm also able to group them together and use it with the HEOS Music app to access all my FLAC files via a USB thumb drive on my x3400. Overall I can quickly access my settings directly without using the on screen menus which is a huge plus bc it's just faster via the app. I know in the past the app would not recognize one or both receivers for whatever reason but I think they have worked that out and I can see both on my netowkr and switch between both fiarly quickly. The interface could be a little more modern and less drab looking but it is functional. That's really my only issue. It's not a pretty interface. But functionality is as intended so I won't take away a star for just looks.

Convoluted UI. There are at least two places to adjust speaker volumes (for subwoofers, balance, etc), there are weird and intricate ways to adjust zone settings (a/b/bi-amp) and access presets. Stuff is duplicated and spread across Audyssey, audio, speaker settings and a general “options” menu. I think the app tries to support much different hardware with different options, and the UI never got thought through. Technically, this works well with my X2700H AVR, but practically, it seems almost unusable by a human being.

Lost Zone 2 with update - difficult to find. EDITED Love the idea of this app. When it works it's great - why is this so difficult? The web site hosted by the device is stable - doesn't this app simply use it? Had Zone 2 control and then the update now no longer can see Zone 2 on my 720w - found where you can hide it in settings. Maybe it would be better to hide it if it's not configured or say something about this configuration setting.

Last update is awesome 👏. I Love this app!!!! It should now get better rated! Thank you for the last update it fixed whatever was hanging up the app. I use my phone to access. Before the last update the app would lock up and not function properly, but when it worked, it worked perfectly. Now with the last update, it works great thank you 😊

easy, with lots of functionality. I'm using this with my AVR-S920W and it's been very easy and intuitive from the moment I opened it. After installing, it started right up with my receiver's current state (volume, current audio selection, custom-named inputs, etc). You can get to most (maybe all?) of the physical remote's functions and more: to my surprise, I can control my Panasonic Blu-ray from it - with no setup!

A-Okay. I was not having any problem with the app until today when it seemed to go haywire. I reset my phone re-download the app and did everything else I could think of but it just wasn’t working. Then I read the release note for the update of the app which apparently happened just within the last couple of days. It noted that it may require that you unplug the AVR and plug it back in if the app wasn’t working properly. Voila! That did the trick and now it’s working fine once again - which for me is essential since the physical remote for my AVR-x3200w isn’t working properly and of course you’re dead in the water without a remote. This app saved me from having to shell out big $ for a whole new AVR. Yeah!

Demon app works great. Works well for minor tweaks and getting whatever source you’re using sounding it’s best. Much quicker real time setting changes on the fly vs. using the receiver to make changes. Not perfect though, lost the ability to adjust sub 1 & 2 independent from each other a while back but recent update seems to have fixed the issue. Overall a good way to see what your system is doing and adjust accordingly to suit your taste

Love this app!!!. I was looking for the simple feature of being able to control zone 2 without being in line of site of the amp. The app meets my needs!!! I can easily turn on my amp and listen to my speakers upstairs without running downstairs. I can adjust volume on zone 2 and select my source such as Apple Music via airplay or cable TV. At night I can listen to music and turn off my amp without running downstairs. I was looking at RF remotes at over $100 to accomplish this. This app is so easy to use and works perfectly. I almost didn’t download after reading reviews. I ensure that my phone is on low volume so I do not have turn on a zone and have it blast. I can also set a maximum volume on the amp to protect in the event phone volume is highest and I turn on a zone.

Excellent - Haven’t needed remote since. Read a lot of the reviews before downloading as I always do. So I was expecting trouble everywhere but have been pleasantly surprised! Connectivity was simple and hasn’t dropped out since, app does everything I’ve needed to do, and no app freezes or shutdowns... The best thing is not having to search for the remote. I always have my iPhone handy so I wish there was an app for my other remotes.

UI needs improvement. I am using receiver in the basement with master bath speakers connected with zone 2. I want main and zone2 to be independent for selecting sources. I cannot figure out why this app does bot support selection of source for zone 2. Also, i can control audio level limit but cannot seem to control current volume for each zone. It will be good to control which zone is transmitted on Bluetooth.

100% total trash. This app is the buggiest iOS app I’ve ever used. It’s literally 5 years later after the original version was released and Denon still can’t seem to fix bugs EVERYONE has consistently complained about in these app reviews. Almost blew my speakers a few times and you can read other reviews where others weren’t as lucky. And now, out of nowhere, they want you to subscribe to Apple Music just to control the volume on your receiver????? I will never buy another Denon product again. I highly recommend staying far away from this app and company.

App won’t even open. I bought a HEOS enabled Denon receiver with two additional HEOS speakers about two months ago. Although the speakers are a bit boomy the sound great and the system was fun to use. Now the HEOS app still works fairly well but the this receiver app won’t even open. And before this started happening the app was failing to accurately control the receiver. I would turn the volume up and it would return to its original position a few seconds later. I would have to shut the app immediately so it would not return to the original volume. Now it won’t even open. I have closed and reopened the app, rebooted my phone, and redownloaded the app, all to no avail. Please fix this app! Or I will have to return the whole system.

Works perfectly on X3700H. Yes, the name is old and interface blocky. I just swapped an older Pioneer Elite for new x3700H. Did not expect much after reading reviews here. I use wired Ethernet, static IP, google DNS, iPadOS and iPhone 11 Pro Max. I can say that the app works perfectly. Have access to everything the OSD has. Can set up presets etc. Yes, it takes maybe 4-7sec to load but after that is quick enough. Interface is old but it just works when you figure out how to use it. The app for Pioneer is ALSO old and hasn’t changed name in years and does not work as well as this. Call me pleasantly surprised.

I don’t know why... I don’t understand why this app has 2 out of 5 star rating. I’ve been using this app on a Denon X4700H and I prefer the app over the remote.. Yes, periodically I do have to close the app and restart it but it’s very seldom...this app has as 95% capabilities as the remote control... I also have a Maratz SR8015 and the app for that works as good, which I think was created by the same group...nothing in the electronic world is glitch free, sorry..

Works as Expected.. When I first purchased our Denon receiver I discovered there was an app to remotely control it. At the time it worked but periodically wouldn’t connect to the receiver - I’d have to reboot the receiver and it would work for a while and then stop. After giving up on the app on a whim a few months ago I tried it and was surprised to see it working. It’s been rock solid - any time I want to use it it’s working. Not sure if it was firmware updates on the receiver or the app being updated but now it works reliably and I can make the adjustments I want without grabbing a regular remote.

Presently seems broken. Completely stops Airplay from being available, most controls for the receiver were greyed out saying this function is unavailable and instructed me to use the IR remote and change the settings on the connected monitor. I presently don’t have it connected to a TV, and not being able to change the settings via the app would make it useless even if using it didn’t make it brick until I deleted the app. If it could actually act *as* the monitor and settings interface, it would be a handy tool but as it stands it’s basically just a dud

Decent app (recent update kinda stunk though). This app is pretty good. It provides all of the UI controls that you get with the remote control in an easy-to-use format, works really well on my ipad. I tend to change receiver settings for different inputs, ie lower the bass for PS4, different settings for music, streaming shows/movies, etc. It makes it easier to manage all the settings with the mobile app rather than with the remote, more quickly for me at least.

Capable App Falls Short on Features. This is a very well laid out app, unfortunately many of the controls available on the remote are simply not available on the app. My largest complaint about the app is that when I use my phone volume controls to adjust the system volume it always jumps in 5dB increments which makes no sense. There’s no setting to change this that I can find. I don’t know who would want this. The app also resets the subwoofer input level every week or two as well which my neighbors love I’m sure. Many audio fields simply don’t exist on the app, I find myself constantly going between the app and the controller for the receiver. All in all: this app at its core works. However if you invest any real time into the app that’s more than surface level you will find many usability issues and frankly missing features.

Fantastic Idea - Poor Execution. Update: My Denon is hardwired. The previous issue with the app not finding the hardwired receiver seems to be resolved, but now with this latest update, the app will suddenly say the wireless network is not available, and that I should close the app until it is available, and then the app crashes. Some very poor coding and error handling. However when it works, it’s fantastic! What a great idea for an app! I would use it regularly if it was stable. About once per month I start the app up and it can't detect my receiver. I have it set to a static IP so there should be no reason for this. When I try to enter the IP the app says it's not a supported device. I have to delete the app and reinstall it to get it working again. Unbelievably poor development. I suspect some idiot VP at D&M decided to outsource the development because they don't know what they are doing. Really hope someone hires a real dev team and fixes this app so it works, because it really is a fantastic idea.

No longer finds my receiver. The app used to “work.” well, at least it would connect to my receiver. Now neither this app or the HEOS app can find my receiver. Nothing has changed on my LAN or WiFi. So, it’s either a receiver firmware update issue (would be no shock, given the track record), or something that has changed in the app(s) related to network connectivity. Denon’s products are great! I’ve had several units over the years now. This app, however, not so much. Lemme go out on a limb and say that maybe it’s time to roll out a new app. After all, it is 2019 and we’re still stuck using the 2016 app.

Does what I need it to do.. Lazy people are going to complain. It works for what I need it for. I have the remote if I need to get technical. Most of the reviews here are kinda crazy. If you have your phone then the remote should be close. You’re asking for a free app to have it all? Again, lazy people. Do what us older generation does. Get off the couch, drop your phone and do it manually. It’ll only take 3-4 mins people.

If you want to setup different listening positions, this is for you.. This app lets you setup the eq for different listening positions. For instance, I have my eq setup for sitting in the center of the couch, the right side of the couch, and the left side of the couch. It is true you can setup your eq on the receiver, but it will only setup the receiver to set the eq for one listening position. For those, people who like to sit in different areas of the room, you can set the specific eq you saved for that listening position, since the app lets you save multiple eq positions.

Embarrassingly unusable. This app is emblematic of the rise of tech companies in the A/V space (Sonos) and the fall of A/V companies for not keeping up. I love my Denon receiver, but this app has been antiquated and frustrating (best case) or plain unusable. Even when working as expected, functionality and interface are outdated. Over the years, it has stopped functioning (crashing on startup, crashing when pressing the Settings button, unable to transmit basic commands) so often, I’ve lost count. Currently, it crashes on startup. I’ve reached out to Denon customer support, who stopped answering after my 2nd email. If companies like Denon continue to fail to put modern technology and UI/UX front and center, it will be the death of them. I’m at the point that I’ll never buy a traditional receiver again. Moving on to Sonos or similar.

Horrible App - Literally blew my speakers. So uh, this is really something. My receiver works wonderfully. However, I thought that the app would be a nice way to enhance the functionality of my setup. Boy was I wrong - This app barely works correctly at all, and often will do the exact opposite of what you want it to do. There seems to be a serious abundance of software bugs and I STRONGLY recommend that anybody who cares for the well being of their sound system avoid this app at all costs. I blew more than half the speakers in my setup (well over 1k worth of damage) by simply pressing the volume up button of my phone ONCE when I was in the main screen. Instead of bumping up the volume by only 5 or even 10 dB, it set it to the MAX POSSIBLE VOLUME (even bypassing the limits I put in place to prevent anything like this from ever happening) that the receiver could output and did irreversible damage to my vintage audio setup I had painstakingly spent acquiring and tuning over the years. Extremely disappointed that Denon could accompany such a fantastic receiver with such an atrocious app. Do NOT download this app. It WILL destroy your system. Just stick to the remote or the physical buttons on the unit until Denon’s application development team gets their act together.

Invest in decent App Developers. We have invested our money in your product, Denon. This app needs error handling and time out procedures. If the app detects a receiver (I have three X2400H receivers on my network), but it is unable to connect to it for some reason, have the app stop trying to connect. Upon opening, if the app is unable to connect to the receiver you were controlling previously, well you pretty much have to uninstall the app and reinstall it. I have had to do this at least 20 times. I have a robust network so it is not my connection.

DRA-800H. The remote for my 800H receiver suddenly quit working and I found this app. My receiver is a simple 2 channel stereo so i can’t say if this app controls all of the surround options found in other receivers. But as far as what I have, this app has every button that the original remote has and other than an occasional lag when pressing buttons it works flawlessly.

Not the best. Now crashes.. Had been using this very average app since I got my AVR4400 around two years ago. Not since the latest update I can’t start the app. Crashes on the loading screen every time. Running iOS 13.latests. I wish receiver manufactures where in the 21st century an not stuck in the early 90’s

Unfixed bugs. There is no excuse for the problems with this app. The biggest issue is that any changes you make to things like Tone will switch off and reset every time you change input sources. Seriously annoying & so frustrating that Denon have known about this for a long time yet ignore it!

Dynamic EQ keeps resetting when switching inputs. As the title, “Dynamic EQ keeps resetting when switching inputs” suggests whenever i use the quick input selector on the bottom of the app my dynamic eq switched to off on the previous input that was turned on. I have dynamic eq set to on, L/R bypass for all inputs but if i switch to another input its resets to the off position. I go into the settings using the app and deactivate dynamic eq and do the same steps again and it switches off again. I have tested this with the offical hardware remote and it doesn’t switch off. The app must be sending some type of command to reset my audessy dynamic eq to off whenever i have it on

Buggy to the point of being useless. Takes forever to start on first load. I cannot select my device when it is detected-seems to hang. Debug menu does not even list my AVR-x1600H. I have the latest firmware from yesterday

Latest Version Requires Apple Music Subscription. Come on guys. Do I really need an Apple Music Subscription to use the App? I don’t think so. This must be really embarrassing for Denon. And if it is a requirement to have an Apple Music Subscription, just to be able to control my AVR with the App, then maybe you can buy the AVR back off me and I’ll go elsewhere. Please get it right!

Not great. As opposed to the paid app, this is terrible

Don’t purchase Denon!! App is a con. As with all other reviews the app ( main reason I was sold this unit In store) is buggy and never wants to connect . Seems even worse on IOS 12. Not good enough if you are promoting and selling this as a feature

Never worked the day I purchased my X3700H, til now nothing has changed. The overall rating for this app says it all. Would be interested to know when a competent fix would be available to fix the connection issue.

Does A Good Job. Before writing this review I had to double check I was writing about the same app all the bad reviews were referring to. Having always had Yamaha, this is my first Denon, and this app works great. I especially like how it shows me what video and audio inputs are occurring in real time and how they are being output. This has helped me easily troubleshoot setup issues. Quite a functional app.

A long way to go yet. Update - June 2017: this app has had multiple updayes since I posted my review and there has been improvement in the app<>receiver connectivity. I routinely have to do a network restart and the app is still painfully sluggish to start on each and every occasion, regardless of whether it's being opened or if it's the foremost app and your phone or tablet has to be woken up. In this day and age this level of software function is simply not acceptable. Never buying Denon ever again. Review downgraded to 1 star. Original review: First, I want to make it clear that although the amp and the app functions are quite closely tied the 2 stars are not for the amp but for the combination of this app with the amp. The amp, an AVR2200W, is very good. The app routinely gets to a point where it's no longer able to communicate with the amp and I have to "reboot" the amp's network. Inconvenient and annoying. The app's response time is just awful. Everytime the app has not been used for a few moments it appears to have to "reconnect" to the amp. I don't know what's going on but it's a pain in the neck. I never saw the Kodi app do any thing like that. It's always available and responsive. The music navigation interface is just rough. If you're navigating a USB drive you have to constantly wait for the file listing to "catch up" to the display. While this is happening all you can see a losting that reads "item##". Fortunately the DLNA listing has an alphabetical jump menu but playing any album or playlist will result in only 2 songs being played and then it stops. Like I said, rough.

Wow - great amp, worst app. This is the first ever one star i review I've given! This app doesn't work. Actually doesn't connect (for the iPad version to). But even the iPad version ... it purely set out, not intuitive etc etc. denon will give what is a great amp/receiver range a bad name unless this is fixed. So what are you waiting for Denon?

Works perfect. Have no issues with the app at all. Fast, good range of functions.

2016???. Looks like it was developed when the name suggests Very disappointing for such an awesome audio brand as Denon Spend a bit of money and do it right to match the quality of your hardware PLEASE

Well featured. Easy to use.. A nice companion to an already feature rich amplifier. Great way to fiddle without interrupting what's happening on the TV.

No longer works. Only seems to work now if you have Apple Music.... useless

Simply doesn't work. This app is abysmal, and I wish I'd known before I bought my new receiver (AVR-X2300W). It just can't detect the receiver on the network. I have an Ethernet connection to my router and a static IP address. The only way I can get it to work at all is to turn it on using the remote control and then type in the IP address (note that after typing in the address, there's no "Next" or "Done" button, just a back-arrow). Even after typing in the address, it still doesn't show the receiver in the list of detected devices, even though I can use the app. Not being able to use the app without manually turning on the receiver first is a complete joke. What I wanted was a receiver where I could wake up in the morning, grab my phone and turn on some music on the receiver in the living room. But no, not from Denon. They make great audio equipment, but don't have a clue about IT.

Terrible. Awful awful app. So bad it makes me regret buying the amp itself…

Sketchy performance thats got worse. Lots of problems with 3.7 version. Basically does not link up to my Denon AVR S650H. Have to go to the Detect Denon AVR function on the app. Its detects my AVR which I select then the page just freezes. Have disconnected and reconnected to local network, have disconnected and reconnected WIFI, have disconnected power to AVR and reconnected and nothing seems to work. Would be better going back previous version which worked most of the time.

Please sort this mess out. Sadly this app is useless. Originally it seemed to work ok, but now I am unable to connect to my receiver that originally was fine.

Common Denon. Stop being bean counters and stand behind the people who buy the Denon product. Be a leader in the industry, don’t just sit on your hands. Update the app so it’s functional, Provide regular updates. Hardware side of things the HDMI switching has got to be the slowest I’ve seen, 30 odd seconds.

Do not download.. This app no longer works. Denon has not updated it in a very long time. They clearly don’t care about their customers or the image of their company.

Absolutely garbage app. Why oh why does the app default to limit the volume to 74%? Hardly worth using

Connects 1 out of 15 times. Always randomly disconnects with no way to reconnect despite deleting and reinstalling the app. Highly frustrating!!

Very poor app connectivity. Pretty much same as what everyone else is saying. No point repeating same problems. Update the app please!!

Rubbish!. Looks good but I wouldn't really know keeps crashing....

Very glitchy. When the app works it works well. However it is a lucky dip if it works on your device. It works fine on my iPhone and iOS but on my wife’s slightly newer iPhone and same iOS it can’t find the AVR at all. Have deleted the app and reinstalled. restarted AVR etc but why it would be discoverable to some devices on the same Network and not on others with no reason for it is unfathomable. Such a shame.

Still rubbish. Still frustrating, doesn’t find unit all the time, AirPlay disconnects and can’t be found again. Up ya game denon, cheap stuff but get what you pay for

Very frustrating. Keeps disconnecting!

Doesn't work. App can't detect the receiver avr-x3200w. All other networking on the receiver works.

App doesn’t work (spins loading) on latest iOS iPhone 12. App worked well on older iOS but with latest iOS 15.4 app isn’t loading on the phone even after removing it and reloading it still no good. Very annoying!

Please Fix !. Really disappointing app. Flakey and rarely works. Please fix (very close to buying alternative amp)

Doesn’t connect. Doesn’t connect

Bugs remain after updates. Seriously Denon. How hard is it? Users all report the same thing - changed settings such as tone or EQ don’t stick after changing input sources. This problem has existed for an unacceptable period of time & is still there after updates. Just fix it. This sort of neglect has turned me off ever buying Denon equipment again.

Not Working. The app has crashed on all 4 devices and doesn't work

Denon: Wake yourself up - 2016... it’s 2018!. In this day & age where apps are an essential part of life, it’s disappointing to outlay your hard earned cash on a Denon receiver only to be let down by the quality of the app. The title says it all - Outdated and embarrassing app. I’ve been using this app for approx. 10 months and it is SO temperamental and permanently unreliable. Issues: • Every time I turn the receiver on it tells me to download the HEOS app (which I have and is equally as poor) VERY ANNOYING. • volume always reads 46.5 no matter what volume the receiver is on • Zone 2 doesn’t work on the app even though there are controls for it • sound types (ie Dolby, Jazz, Dolby X etc) don’t display where they should. • ...the list goes on.... Bottom line: I wish I’d read the reviews for this app prior to buying the receiver. I can’t use it to it’s potential because it’s not user friendly. I’ve reverted back to the Sonos. Denon.... check out the Sonos app for usability and sort yourself out - it’s 2018!

Won't Work Anymore. Worked perfectly for months until all of a sudden it wouldn't connect anymore. Made sure the reciever was connected to the internet with an Ethernet cable as well. Extremely dissapointing.

App stopped working. App stopped working Feb 2022

Why Bother To Update. Never fails. Every time there is an update it takes weeks before the app will work again. The reviews like this are incessant, how does Denon continue to let this happen?

Not Good. This app is specifically for my compatible AVR-X3700H receiver however this app only opens up every 3 to 4 tries and when it does open, it sees my receiver but not once has it connected to it no matter how many times I restart my iPad or reboot my modem or receiver.

Efficace. Très bonne app fait tout ce que je veux avec mon avr denon.

Bad.. so bad. The app was bad to begin with but then you updated it and somehow made it worse. When I launch it, it tells me I need an Apple Music subscription and the app will close. Denon is definitely not on my list when replacement time rolls around as I’ve had constant issues with the receiver as well.

App doesn’t work anymore. Since the app updated it doesn’t work anymore with the AVR-4200W. Settings are all correct and the firmware is up to date.

Useless. This app worked reasonably well for 1.5 yrs. The parade happened a couple of months ago and nothing connects. I tried all recommendations in the reviews with no success. Don’t bother with it, an excercise in frustration.

Doesn’t work!. Since last update app can’t connect with any iOS device. Tried submitting ticket but forced to try and select device - when pull-down menu select it is empty. Zero service support on app, is the company in trouble, going bankrupt? Time to look for “NON-Denon” AVR?

Worst app. Whatever was just updated screwed up the connection from phone to receiver. Other than that it’s the buggiest, worst laid out, sloppy app I have on my phone. I’m willing to bet the developer is related to the decision makers and got the job not on merit. lol

It does not detect my AVR S760H. Such a stupid app, it doesn’t even try to look for the AVR as I could tell from the ‘Local Network’ section on my iPhone where it lists the apps requesting to search for devices on the local network. It’s extremely disappointing and I may return the device to the store even though the Denon manual says not to.

Junk. App is garbage. One day it works the next day it can’t find the AVR. Probably will never buy a Denon or Marantz product after this experience.

Still crashes March 2021. Went thru all the recommended steps, app still doesn’t work.

Latest update doesn’t work. The latest version 3.4.4 no longer works on my iPad, despite previous versions working. It won’t connect to any receiver. The same version on my iphone now says I now need a subscription to AppleMusic for the app to work. What have you done Denon?

Love it!. Just need to update from time to time.

How can they make it worse?. The previous version had Apple Music warnings that wouldn’t allow the app to run unless you have Apple Music. This latest version doesn’t even make it past the launch screen. Just awful, back to using the tried and true remote that came in the box.

Denon Remote 2016. Remote worked for awhile but won’t connect to my AVR now. Denon tech support told me it’s a problem with my ISP. I don’t think so. I tried an older Denon App with limited features. Connected fine. Tried a third party app. Works fine. There are bugs with this App. Very disappointed

App stopped working after update.. This app won’t work properly anymore after updating. Please fix this as soon as possible. I’ve tried the app on two different iPhones, and it still won’t work.

Junk app. This is an embarrassment of an app from a reputable company like Denon; very unreliable, glitchy and crashes frequently.

Such a let down. TERRIBLE, if I could leave no stars I would!

I like it - one request.... Please please add second subwoofer adjustment! The iPad version is great because it lets you adjust channel levels in the app without having the screen overlay to annoy people watching tv....but it only has the ability to adjust one subwoofer even if you have 2 connected and showing in all the other menus. And since subs are the thing you are adjusting most often...Otherwise good app. Not sure what other’s connection issues are about but mine always connects immediately.

Terrible connectivity issues. Windows 95 called and want their software back.

Good receiver bad application. Works Poorly before now stopped working completely Denon apps always bad

Deno. The system is a joke , I’ve reset it many times I deleted the app sad for the creator. Time to build another new app this is 4 years old .

Works Excellent. I have used various remote apps for other makes of amps and receivers. This Denon is without doubt the very best we have ever used. We use it on our iPhone 12, our Denon AVR-X6500H is an excellent receiver. It’s a 11.2 and we run two subs off it and 4 Dolby Atmos speakers. It’s amazing how sound has improved in my 62 years. Buying my first hi-fi in 1973. We now have $45 invested into our home video/sound/PC system. A great 85” 4K UHD TV and the sound system to match. Throw in a HTPC and every app to run it. Life is wonderful atm.

“UNREAL”. I understand Covid-19 has impacted things. In this day an age I shouldn’t have these types of issues with an app. I believe the last two updates have made this app the worst app ever. With the amount of money Denon makes you would think there app would be flawless like it was before. Very disappointed with this garbage.

This app sucks. So I bought the Denon x4500h about 6 months ago and it’s awesome, no notes. However, after a few weeks my dog ate the remote and I was stuck using this app to control it and it suckkkks. I’m constantly having problems connecting it to my receiver, the interface is difficult to navigate, and it’s connection to other apps like HEOS is shoddy at best. When I do get it to work, it’s only for a few weeks then it refuses to connect to it and I have to troubleshoot the the stupid thing all over again. Did I mention that the chances of Denon actually sending me a replacement remote is about as likely as the second coming of Christ?! Seriously guys your app is awful send me my damn remote so I can stop using it.

Great app!. Great app very hand to have when wanting to use multizone music! Thanks denon for the great memories and music you bring me!!!

Useless App. Can no longer connect to my receiver at all after last update. Thanks Denon. A crappy app somehow made even worse. Didn’t think it was possible. Seriously…spend a little money and make a proper app before your entire Conpany is left in the digital dust.

Just stopped working. Was working fine. Then just stopped working. It sees my AVR in the app but will no longer connect to it. Unless they come up with an update fix will probably dump it.

Has become unusable. Worked flawlessly for years with my X4400H and then started to get ‘glitchy’ earlier this year. Now it won’t even connect. Have tried removing app and reinstalling, sw is updated on receiver. Still no go.

Functional but clunky.. Using it on a X4700 series. Great overall receiver, controls are relatively responsive for the receiver. Interface is clunky and not very intuitive to switch between zones vs zone sources vs overview. Things get even more complicated when playing multiple sources through multi-zone (eg: I can’t quite seem to duplicate TV audio to zone 2 despite selecting the settings). Furthermore, streaming via app or amplifier seems to be problematic - in the app, it appears to default to Bluetooth and Heos, which doesn’t work for my Apple Music as it’s “DRM protected”. Airplay doesn’t even seem to be an option in the app, forcing me to exit out to use iTunes, switch back for volume control, then switch again for song selection. Airplay also has its issues - Airplay cast to the receiver I can’t assign which zone I’m air playing to. The receiver appears to assign airplay to the last used zone if both zones are active, or to the zone that’s turned off. Super problematic as if I’m doing multizone and someone’s watching TV airplay can sometimes kick off the TV audio instead of my desired Zone 2. To compound the problem, if Airplay takes over a zone, you have to power cycle the zone before you can switch audio to a different source other than Airplay, as Airplay somehow locks that zone in and the app/remote loses responsiveness to change to a different source. For some reason, Bluetooth connectivity has a lot of DPC latency and jitter. Haven’t been able to figure that one out. Siri should have more finer control over receiver functions.

Annoying. Seriously, the last update is garbage. The Apple Music subscription warning is ridiculous. Why is it even there? Also, this app really needs a UI update. Its outdated and a cumbersome to use.

Bugs. The app is known to freeze. It seems like Denon dosent care to update or fix the bugs in the app

Fix. It stopped recognizing my receiver once but works great when I works. I found a fix on the Denon site. I rebooted my router and turned off auto updates on my receiver and then unplugged the receiver for a few seconds. That fixed the problem.

Broken. No longer works with my receiver S930H

No TV. I am not attaching my Denon x3700 to a TV. It is not possible to assign speakers without a TV. Why you can’t setup / amp assign etc in the App is frustrating. Please improve the app, or I’ll have to return the amplifier and get Sonos.

The app. Not impressed only one of the apps work the old version and not that great have to reset it constantly and I bet nobody is listening***the sale was made profits produced and you don’t care about your clients

App no longer detects receiver. A once solid app is now a certified dud. DM Holdings must have stopped dev support of this app. The lack of DENON support feedback in the App Store further solidified this theory.

Denon app. Please fix this ASAP !! Does not work anymore 🤬

Stopped even booting the app now. This app has been buggy from the start. My AVR screen stopped just days after my warranty ran out, but I always managed to muddle through using this app. Now that this isn’t working, I guess it’s time to buy a different brand altogether.

😒. No app has ever frustrated me as much as Denon AVR. No app I have ever used has been slower and more prone to failure than Denon AVR.

Horrible App. While we like the amp, this app is terrible. Rarely works and, when it does, it’s not very good.

Still Not Working. Updated - After unplugging receiver and plugging it back in the app has now started working again. Thanks Denon! I just updated hoping that this update would fix the previous update. The app used to work flawlessly until the previous update which made it impossible for my phone to connect to my receiver. After updating this time I STILL CAN’T connect to my AVR-X1500H. When I try to connect the app it just cycles and gets stuck. Please Please fix this so I can connect my iPhone XR!

Very average app. Unfortunately, whoever designed this app wasn’t looking at intuitiveness. In comparison to a competing Yamaha, this lacks poorly in layout, there’s also a slight delay in comparison to the Yamaha.. If using an app is essential in your receiver purchase look elsewhere, then Denon or Marantz. Othero otherwise the product itself is very fine

App stopped working. The latest update broke the app and my firmware is up to date on the receiver. Why does this keep happening with your products!? 😡

Ridiculous. This app used to work on. Since a couple of months can’t connect to the receiver anymore. Seeing all the other reviews with similar complaints, I am wondering why we don’t see an update with a fix. Crazy.

Not working again. Was fine, did an update and disappointed. Recognized my receiving. That’s it!! Nothing working….

Hmmmm what¿??. Can you fix ur sht app

Needs Work. No connection problems here. But... You can’t adjust everything on the app, but if you are feeding media to the receiver from or through your TV instead of through the receiver first, you can’t see the on screen display to make the adjustments!?! If it allowed all setting to be adjusted on the app it would be complete. Add setup saving (instead of to a USB) and I’d give it 5 stars! It does cover the basics if you are just tweaking the sound after setting everything up.

Lots of potential. While the app has good value as is, it would be better if the menus were rearrangeable/ customizable to quickly access the settings and features needed rather than navigate through the static set of menus and submenu. The Control panel has more real estate on the display to allow additional functions which could be customizable by the user for the most used functions and settings.

Stopped working today for no reason. I’ve used this app for months to control my X1300W from my iPhone, but when I tried to use it today it would not work. It can’t find the receiver, and when I try to add it manually using the IP address it says the device is not supported. I’m not sure what the problem is because the app version, firmware, and network are all the same as they were when it worked a few days ago.

Buggy and slow!. I’ve had my Denon AVR-X1200W for two years now and have NEVER got this app to work consistently. It’s slow to respond. Slow to load. Every couple of days I need to power cycle the receiver itself just so the app can recognize the AVR again. Additionally Back in 2016, Denon broke the ability to play and control Pandora thru the receiver. (A known issue that lasted almost a year!). Why can’t Denon get this right? Just need some adequate ap-dev and a good test bed to fix these bugs. Really frustrating!!

Lots of bugs. Just setup a X2400H and was looking forward to using the app. Sadly lots of bugs. First being the audio delay settings. The settings are per source, but the app never reflects when you change sources. Shows the previous sources delay settings. Have to unplug AVR to get app to read correctly, however it’s only that first read that’s correct. Switching sources again shows the wrong info. Menus in app slow to respond and show data.

Stopped connecting. I have used this app for a while now without any problems. Now today it identifies my AVR-X6400H receiver, but doesn’t connect. It just stopped working in the middle of watching a movie. First it froze. I restarted the app, than restarted my iPhone X, than removed and reinstalled the app, restarted the receiver, but nothing! None of the usual steps work. The IR remote works, but not the app. I did have problems with the app freezing up over the last month or two. Go figure. I initially would have given it a 5 star rating. But not now. Denon help!!!!

NEW APP HUH?. If it’s so new, why didn’t you drop 2016 from the app name? I thought the incompatibilities with my AVR-X2400H were resolved with the previous update. Here we go again— now I’m faced with other issues:/ This time, the app closes automatically to the launch screen when I perform any app function. Although, it doesn’t completely crash, it won’t stay open at all after I connect another streaming music app via AirPlay. Seriously, DENON needs to get this right! AVR-X2400H iOS 13.1.3 iPhone X

This app used to ROCK.. But now on my iPhone 14 and iPhone X — when I swipe the app up and off my screen? It unavoidably activates one of the Quick Select choices— the memorizable settings for viewing during day time or late night (quiet time) viewing? Make one wrong swipe and suddenly late night quiet viewing becomes DAYTIME PLAY IT LOUD viewing!! Oh joy! And here come the upstairs neighbors, again! Care to take this one, Mr. Denom??

Denon wake up and improve app. This is my second Denon rcvr - after 11 years of first - and Denon receivers are excellent audio kit. Unfortunately I need to agree that Denon/United Music hasn’t put a high enough priority on their app. Heos integration IS very kludgey and could be much easier to use. The app interface is way better than my previous Denon but they could do better.

Worse App in Apple App Store!. I have a couple Denon AVRs and this app does not work to control them. Takes over a minute to connect to one of the AVRs. Usually 1 of 2 AVRs is not detected. Zone 2 controls usually do not work! Newer version of this app made these issues worse. I would be embarrassed if I programmed this app and I would remove this App from the App Store until it is fixed. Does a disservice to your Denon brand and it makes me questioned why I bought these AVRs. I am contemplating returning them...VERY FRUSTRATED!

Latest update screwed up my AVR-X3200W control. Every since the last update my phone app no longer functions correctly, zone 2 Pandora, zone 1 Pandora no longer operate at all, and other quirky items here and there! I have done the old “plug and unplug the receiver” trick several times and tried resetting my iPhone12 and app several times, all with no success. Very frustrating.

Worst AV receiver app ever made!. Who ever made this denon application clearly has zero idea how an avr works or what it does. Clearly out sourced to the lowest bidder, horrific. Denon/ united sound needs to fix this and have an app that works, makes sense and is a joy to use. This is literally barely usable. If you want to know how to make an app, look at the Pioneer avr application, its properly designed and works great, and is a joy to use. I would even pay 20 bucks if this denon avr app was properly designed. I can’t believe they accepted this.

App Looks & Feels Dated. My Denon AVR has a lot going for it but this app looks like it was developed 20+ years ago and never updated. Update the features, fonts and UX/UI. Add some more help features. And make it easier to use. The layout of the radio stations when connected to the TV could be so much better. Not happy with much within this app. The user experience leaves me wanting so much more.

App locks up when trying to connect to receiver. After the most recent update the app simply does not work anymore. When trying to turn the receiver on it locks up. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and now it locks up trying to connect to the receiver after finding it on the network. I have verified my receiver AVR-X2400H has the most up to date firmware. This app used to work so well, now it is unusable.

hold power button 3 seconds to reset. If the app goes from working fine to suddenly not being able to connect with your Denon AVR, then try holding the power button (on the AVR unit) for 3 seconds to properly reset the device. (the word RESTART will appear on the AVR’s LEDs). Worked for me.

Latest update broke the app.. Since the latest update I can no longer control my AVR-2400H. It won’t connect properly or switch inputs/mute volume, or power off or on when I click on the appropriate buttons. Please fix! My receiver is in a different room and I can’t control it without walking into another room and pointing the remote at it, which renders the on-screen menus useless. Very frustrating.

Works Great. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I recently picked up a Denon AVR-X2700H and this app is a must. I think it intuitive and very responsive. It’s much easier to use than the remote since it has lighting for when my room is dark. Overall works great!

Works great, most of the time. This app works great to control my receiver. Sometimes it doesn’t connect and restores itself a few days later. I wish Denon would add integration for the iOS Shortcuts app so I can turn on my entire entertainment center using a single Siri command.

Used to work great. I bought a new Denon receiver a few months ago, then I found this app and was very happy with the quick connection that allowed me to change settings. This last update completely broke the connection and it tells me it can’t find the receiver on my network. The instructions say to update the firmware. There’s no new firmware. Apple needs to give users a way to revert app versions to fix untested junk like this in the future.

Updated Review. After posting a negative review I power cycled my AVR-X2300W (I had to take the TV off the wall to get to it) and that solved the issues I was having with the app. So far so good and the new update looks like it is an improvement. I will update the stars and details after using it more.

Denon really needs to step up app dev.. After spending a pretty penny upgrading to the latest technology I found myself extremely disappointed that the app felt like printing to a dot matrix printer. With all the advancements Denon made in their receivers, the app was not one of them. Ugly design, not user friendly layout, no idea how to change any settings without just “clicking” around. I’m coming from a Yamaha and that app was wonderful, user friendly and didn’t need two apps to control the unit and music streaming. Come on Denon!

X2300 and iPhone X. For me, this app works great. Works a lot better than the ratings would suggest. The only thing I would like improved is updated iPhone X screen. I love that I can use my iPhone volume buttons to control the volume when I’m in the app.

App works great. I've been using this app for 2 months now with no problems. It does everything I need to do on my Denon AVR receiver. I wonder if some of the negative reviews are even legit or people being over critical. I use this app all the time.

Works great, love it!. I must be in the minority but the app works great for me. I have never had an issue with it not working. I find it extremely convenient versus using the receiver remote. It also has no problem controlling the blu-ray player which is another convenience. I have been very happy with the app and the receiver.

Broken. 3500H not supported. Never had many issues before. But with the new version, my 3500H is no longer found by the app. In a laughable turn of the knife, the function inside the app that allows you to report the issue of a receiver not being found is also broken; the drop down menu to select which receiver you have is completely blank, and the report is unable to be submitted. Unacceptable, and judging by the reviews, Denon doesn’t really seem to care.

Works well in 2023. I tried this app years ago no good tried again Feb 2023 for my circa 2019 Denon avr and works perfectly so far. Can change individual speaker volume, change audio types, control zones, and switch between multiple receivers.

This app is not reliable. I have a Denon AVRs930 H receiver with which I attempt to use this app from my iPhone X. The app occasionally works fine. However, more often than not, the app does not recognize the presence of the receiver and therefore does not work. “Refresh” on the app occasionally works, but usually does not. I have tried as many troubleshooting tests as I can think of, including: -Rebooting my phone -Rebooting my wireless router -Checking to see if other internet devices in the house are working when the receiver/app is not -Deactivating then reactivating the receiver -Deleting then reinstalling the app -Moving closer to or farther from the receiving. Unfortunately, none of these have identified the source of the problem. And, I can’t find any support info from Denon. This is unfortunate, because the app is useful when it’s working.

Poor User Interface on iPhone app. It seems to me all of the AVR manufacturers need to hire some pro level interface designers for their phone apps design development. I just got my new 3800 setup today. It sounds great but the iPhone app is very poorly designed. I replaced a 2014 unit who’s iPhone app was much better than this app. I expect more from you guys Denon.

Zero rating - stopped detecting my Denon. Honestly, why does this app exist anymore? It was horrible to start with, with its glacially slow response and the unintuitive UI designed probably to torture the soul of the users. With its recent update(s), it has shamelessly found its way to its destination where it does not even detect the Denon receiver. And what does the menu item “Can not find my AVR” do for you? It just logs your model and thanks you for your time it consumed! That’s it!! Guys (the developers), did you never have any pride in what you thought you are doing?

it’s terrible. Really poor app ever. The app worked fine but recently has stopped the connection suddenly. Whenever I open the app, it keeps trying the connection but never done saying ”Connection Error. Please reboot the AVR S760H and try again.” Given that the reciver has been working fine with HEOS or any other sources, I strongly suspect that this is an issue on the App itself. very disappointed.

Excellent app for controlling a Denon AVR. I’m surprised so many others rated this poorly. I actually really like this app. Its much better than trying to navigate the menus with the remote to tweak the sound from the AVR.

Works well until HEOS updates are released, then breaks. This app works awesome with my Denon AVR about 90% of the time, but then I will find days where the app won’t boot-just sits and continuously searches for the AVR without ever connecting. It would seem that every time HEOS releases an update for their app (a separate app), because my denon AVR supports HEOS, that will break the functionality of this app. The dev for this app should sync up with the HEOS crew so they can time updates accordingly.

Needs update. Seems to work reasonably well for what I want to do. But not always easy to find correct screen for desired function. Needs to be updated for iPhone X’s larger screen and the “notch”. More than 80% of my 100+ apps already conform, after just three months. My programmer friends tell me it is a quick fix.

Worst App Ever. This app makes me regret buying a Dennon receiver. It constantly has problems finding the receiver, requiring a reset of the receiver. It glitches up all the time. Clunky. Seems like they havent put any effort into it in over half a decade. Real shame, the receiver is nice, but if you don’t have an app to control it what’s the point of buying a connected high tech receiver. Maybe I can find someone to buy this receiver and check out Sonos or something instead.

Finally works!. New updated version of the app 3.10.1 finally allows user to connect and control the receiver. Totally unexpected since according to tech support just few days ago, this application is no longer supported and most likely no updates any time soon. Definitely is a nice surprise!

iPhone app does NOT work.. App for iPhone is worthless. My older app (...prior to June 2020) was working fine then, today (September 12, 2020) it quit working. Deleted the app, downloaded the app and can’t even get to the volume control. Can’t even turn the system on or off with the app. Firmware on my 2500 is up to date when I searched for updates. Unplugged the unit and waited for a few minutes before plugging back in....no difference. Nothing works! Still can’t turn the system on or off.

Mandatory Apple Music Subscription. A pop-up starting in Version 3.4.4 forces users to buy a $10/month Apple Music subscription. The app then closes until the user obeys. Is Denon getting a commission from Apple? Hard to say. Apple has no app support, refers it to Denon. Denon plays clueless. The pop up: “It appears that you are not currently subscribed to Apple Music. Please subscribe to Apple Music. Then re-open this app. This app will close when you touch OK.”

Works Fine - My AVR is connected via Ethernet. This software can do a lot. My AVR-X3700H is connected to my network via Ethernet. I run this app on my iPad. No issues, I seldom have to use the AVR’s remote, mostly just Roku Remote and this app for selecting some audio options. My AVR is buried behind a wall so everything is done remotely via Ethernet or IR Repeater.

Incredible. Not sure why the rating is so low. I just bought the AVR x3500H a couple days ago and using this remote with it is very convenient. Love the app and it’s excellent just like the receiver. Everything works great ! Couldn’t be more pleased. This app should be rated higher. It’s a really good product from Denon.

Update : it is working now - Doesn’t work now. Update: it is working now. Thank you After the latest update about 1 week ago the app doesn’t work. It won’t see my Denon. I have followed the instructions to trouble shoot, by unplugging the power cord and plugs it back, still not working. Please help

At least it doesn’t crash.... I just started using DeRemote instead. It is more reliable and responsive. It’s worth the $4.99. Update: Denon removes ability to input stereo’s IP address and asks you to submit a report on your network and your email address in order to find your stereo that just happens to be on different local subnet. As a network professional, this infuriates me. I know the static IP of my stereo. Last time I buy a piece of crap Denon. Soooo cheap. Update 2: HOW IS THIS APP NEARLY 300MB? Update 3: Why is this app 300MB???? The problem is I make a slight adjustment to the volume, the app glitches, like usual, and then all of the sudden I find the stereo at full volume, and it actually makes me angry, in my NYC apartment. More than half the time, the app can’t find the stereo on my subnet. I wish I could give this app -5 stars. It’s the worst app on my phone.

New AVR not detectable. App cannot find my new AVR-X4700H. I’ve successfully connected to my network and updated the firmware to the latest version. All devices - AVR, phone, and network - have been rebooted several times will no change in results. Also, I can’t even submit a support request in the app stating my AVR can’t be found as the drop down menu to select my model doesn’t work. All in all, a worthless app that offers no functionality.

Thanks Denon Team!. This app is easy to use. Needs a few of improvements but it is well made and also replace most of the functions from the controller. I really appreciate from Denon this app and hope they really improve it more and more. It needs a little more Denon touch!

Works Great!. I bought my Denon x6700 about a month ago and I have had zero issues with the app. It connects every time and make life way easier when setting up different sound profiles.

Completely non functioning. The app never saves my setting, resetting everything the second I leave the app. It won’t even let me turn swings on or off 80% of the time. If I turn manual eq on then try to turn it off, it will just load for a second and just click it back on. Infuriating considering this garbage app it the only way to adjust any setting whatsoever on the receiver

Thank you JayEllis. My reciever was locked in spinning mode this morning. I followed your suggestion, unplugged the receiver, waited a full minute or two. Then plugged it back in. It took awhile to carefully move the tv stand back to the wall. By then the remote app on my iPad connected. Thanks. I like the remote app to tell me of audio input type (stereo, 5:1) and to control the volume of the reciever. Simple but useful.

Horrible. Denon, you make great receivers and people pay good money for them since they know they are good quality and sound great but this app is pathetic. More than half the time I start the app, it won’t detect my receiver, so I go to see if maybe I can switch receivers and it sees the receiver there but refuses to let me control it. Both the phone and the receiver are on the same network! It worked just last week! Nothing has changed! This is pathetic. Stop being cheap and pay a good programmer to redo this from scratch cause this is pathetic.

Fix your App Love the physical Receiver. Your app is horrible. It’s constantly just not working or crashing. It’s had spurts we’re it works great but lately it’s just non functioning. I went through OTA software updates on the receiver but up to date. Just your app not doing what it’s able to do. I’ve uninstalled , reinstalled, used the HEOS app, use the other Denon Remote App and they all pretty let me down all the time. Fix what you have and more people will be happy.

Great functions but could be better. It is convenient… I would love to see some options to adjust bass, treble and etc via the app. Also for some reason this app lags alittle, the HEOS does not. I use this mainly to switch between zones and A/B speakers. Overall I’m very happy with the new receiver but the app could use an upgrade.

Awful product / Ignore contact requests. We have three Denon AVR‘s, trying to standardize so that we can use one app regardless of which location we are in. This app hangs and arbitrarily adjusts volume. Almost as if it’s not compatible with our AVR units. Our firmware is up to date. Removing and reinstalling helps but then problems reoccur. No response to requests for assistance on company website. Disappointed but stuck with our investment in $ and time at our home, my folks home and another.
