Great App - a couple of suggestions. i find this to be a great app for reading music, annotating and organizing my music. I play in two bands and sing in two choirs and play for my own enjoyment. Being able to organize my music into libraries is extremely helpful for keeping me organized. And I Iike that I can list a selection in two different libraries without having to enter it twice. I really like the annotation abilities, and being able to set up links for repeats, codas , etc. And I love the ‘rearrange’ function, but I think it could use an update. I’ll talk about that below. I use a foot pedal for page turning when I’m playing my trumpet. I have the airpod pros but have not yet mastered that for piano playing. I also love the fact that I can ‘white out’ a section of music to rewrite without having a mess of overwrites. The weak point in your app is the scan function and the cropping function. I learned early on to scan everything from Scanner Pro for it’s clean images and cropping capabilities. I think your cropping program should allow you to crop one or two staves, or a half page, that can then be inserted as needed using the rearrange function. All in all this is a great app.

Errors in copying scores to another device. I have been with ForScore from the very beginning and in fact I even pay for the pro version that I feel makes very little difference. I would say it has been a 5 star app up til recently. I am a professional concert pianists that works with two iPads that I pass my Scores back and forth after adding fingerings and notes to either students or myself. Airdrop has always been the fastest way and had been flawless until the last month or so. Now, every time and every score I send that has kept the annotations from previous versions now automatically takes random measures from a previous section and randomly inserts into another page. Not whole pages but lines here and there. So I’ll be playing along and all of a sudden a Line from a different piece in the same score will appear and Then the next line will be the correct piece again. Very frustrating. Having the pro app is suppose to get support. It took 10 days for a response and then when i responded to the non answer I got no more responses. I think it’s time to look elsewhere or just play from my purchased henle app which has its own annotating frustrations. I love all the new features but I rarely use them. How about good old reliability? Frustrated musician. Sure Never been frustrated By a score before!!!!!

AMAZING APP! One small functionality suggestion.... This app is amazing. I’m a professional musician in NYC, and having an iPad Pro and ForScore has changed my life for the better. Whether it’s in the process of creating a new show (tons of marking and erasing, and re-marking and erasing again) or finally being able to turn pages easily via a foot pedal with my music further away than where my hands could reach it. Really amazingly helpful. My Christmas wish from you fantastic developers would be the ability to use the selection tool to also cover an area in a color (white out). I use the white out feature all the time to mark cuts in music, and it would be way faster to simply draw a selection with the tool and click one button or two to cover entire lines or sections of a tune in white rather than have to manually use the pencil. Thanks for the great work!

Simply the Best Sheet Music Viewer & Organizer!!. forScore is great for music in any form, not just sheet music. For example, chord charts with lyrics, or lyrics alone, as long as they’re in a PDF file. And the way it works so seamlessly with my 4-button page turner, is awesome, too. I couldn’t get by with just a 2-button page turner. This app proved to be so good and so useful, I just had to get on board with the annual Pro subscription. If you can, please join me and contribute to the ongoing development of this wonderful musician’s tool. Thank you! The only thing I don’t know how to do yet, if possible, is to break up my music into separate libraries. Having every PDF with some form of music in one Master Library can get daunting to deal with. I’ll be in touch with forScore Support, but from the user manual it sounds like one big Master file is it.

ForScore is good for several things. I use this for many documents. I wouldn’t use it to write an essay, but it has many properties that allow for both musicians, and just people wanting to touch up diagrams. That being said this is the best program you can find for music documents out there, you can create multiple libraries for different events, maybe a library for your church music, then also one for your school. Or maybe you are in an orchestra, but also have solo pieces that you perform. Just create another library and all your stuff is separate from all your other songs. This is a great app, really easy to navigate after taking some time to learn your way around.

Brilliant App, An All-Time Favorite!. I absolutely love this app and it’s a strong contender for my favorite app of all-time. Not having to lug around binders and no longer misplacing sheet music is such a game changer for me. forScore is pretty close to perfect. I can easily scan music, annotate, create set lists, attach audio files, tag (and much more) all from a very simple and intuitive interface. This app is perfect for both gigging and practicing. One example of this thing making my life so much easier is - I play bass and scanned an entire Walking Bass practice book into forScore. I then attached all the backing tracks. One issue I had before, and an issue with many similar books, is that the backing tracks for the exercises are way too short, so it’s hard to get into a groove. Another issue is these backing tracks always have a count-in, so looping wasn’t ideal because it would play through the track, then go back to the beginning to the count-in, pulling me out of the zone. With forScore I can loop, but I can also set markers for where to start/end the loop, allowing me to skip the count-in. This alone has improved my practice immensely. To the developers: Thank you so much for this brilliant app! I only wish I had discovered it sooner. You have created an advocate and I will recommend this application to all my musician friends.

Good for basic page turning, terrible for saving annotations.. If you are planning on using this app as just a substitute for physical sheet music, this is a great app. For those that seek to annotate, mark their music, etc. this app has a very annoying bug that has yet to be fixed as of the most recent version/update. I’ll spend roughly half an hour annotating a score on two or three layers and upon selecting “done” it all disappears. It comes back sometimes when I go back into the editing phase but disappears again when I’m “done”. I’ve had another bug that randomly merges annotations from multiple layers into one layer as well as moving annotations completely from one page to another. In short, if you want to just turn pages and save music electronically, this app is perfect. If you want to utilize any of it’s other annotative functions, simply don’t waste your time.

Great app but ...... The app recently started ‘refreshing’ especially during times when I haven’t opened it for, say, hours. Instead of going straight to the page I had stopped in the last time I used it it suddenly refreshes into a page with ‘basic functions’ like a first time tutorial. This gets frustrating if I have to get at a score during a performance or during teaching. Also it seems to crash a bit more often. Happened when I upgraded, which was the version before THIS latest update you have. Does it have a maximum limit as to data that can be stored? I had almost 2 thousand scores - I am using an ipad with 128 GB storage - and like 90 percent were GONE when I tried to re download the app because of these issues. Hopefully you can understand how I felt when that happened Hoping you can fix this. Otherwise I’d have given five stars without blinking,

From Jana P.. I have loved this app as I have had it on my iPad for about five years. I use it for our Ukulele group music. I am the only one of our group that knows how to load and navigate this app so I have been doing this for all of our group members without a bit of problem. The past year whenever I go to please, the song into more than one genre, it will only put it in the first one,it changes and deletes part of the entry when I go to put it in a second genre. I can only have this in one of my genre choices. I like to put it in our main music and then into kids, music or Christian music but it will only take one of them. I also am not able to put any emojis on anything because it brings up a little keyboard now without the option of emojis. I use emojis on every genre entry so now I cannot put any music into any genre because I can't bring up an emoji to match the title on the genre. There is no one to contact to fix this as they stated they are a company of two… I am left with a crippled app,and no one in our group is dealing with this issue. I have been navigating this app for our whole group and I can't fix my own!!!

How amazing is page turning nowadays, wow!. Each time I use my lips to point left and right and the page just turns to reveal the next section of music, I get a wonderful satisfying feeling. One, that I was smart enough to part with my measly $10 per year to activate this feature. Two, that I live in a technologically advanced period of time where cameras on your sheet music display device have become smart enough to know when I need to see the next part of the score. Finally last but not the least, I get that satisfying feeling of not having to break my rhythm with a need to move my hands and fumble with my fingers in order to grab a uncooperative piece of music score. As a amateur pianist, I don’t often perform outdoors or in front of a fan that would blow away a normal piece of music. As a new forScore user, I have not converted even the smallest amount of my gigantic collection of paper scores to digital form. But from those that have been converted, I am sold on the idea that this is definitely the way to go! The only insignificant peculiarity that I’ve encountered, is that unlike the developer claims, it really is not possible to import into forScore any apple Pages documents containing scanned images of the score. The result is nearly unreadable and definitely unusable. First convert to PDF. Then, it works like a champ.

Unreliable for public performance. I have used forScore for years — I use the pro version with face gestures to turn pages. As a professional musician, it is one of the most important apps on my iPad. There are many advantages that we are all aware of. I would like to share the biggest disadvantage (a bug) which makes forScore unreliable for public performance. Occasionally (roughly once a week, or a few times a month), a score will disappear into a plain white screen with nothing visible except the annotations. It always happens at page turns — usually the first, but sometimes in the middle of a piece. This first happened to me in a public performance two years ago and I no longer use my iPad for public performances, I simply don’t trust the software. I have spoken to three friends who have experienced the same issue, which has not been resolved in two years worth of updates. Do not trust this app for public performance, unless you are able to continue playing from memory if your score disappears, or you are willing to accept the risk of embarrassment! I have reported this issue and hope that my trust in this app can one day be restored.

Absolutely the best, this app is exactly what you’re looking for. Simply stated, this app is the best sheet music app currently on the market. It is absolutely worth the $15, and it’s been the best $15 bucks I’ve ever spent. I use this app on a regular basis, and it fulfills all my sheet music needs. I scanned my entire sheet music library (about a couple thousand pages) and imported it into ForScore, and I’ll never go back to paper. Despite my large sheet music library size, the app is unbelievably smooth. Plus, I love being able to carry all my sheet music on my iPad; my music is easily accessible, the app has an incredibly smooth interface, even with large files, and it’s very simple to create back-ups and archives. Additionally, if you own an iPad with an Apple Pencil, look no further. The annotation features in this app are flawless and well developed (might I even say even smoother than onenote’s annotation capabilities). I’m not one to usually leave reviews for apps, but I HAD to leave one for this app. I’ve never been so impressed by an app, and I had to leave a review for it and it’s developers. Thank you for this wonderful app, and thank you for continuing to keep it up to date. As a musician, this is the best thing that’s ever happened to me and my sheet music. Thanks again.

Great App, but Syncing songs isn’t working.. ForScore is a great app for any level and any player, especially for people (like myself) who have many songs. However I have two concerns. 1. The sync isn’t working. I use forScore on multiple devices, but the songs do not sync with other devices linked with the same account. This is troublesome because when trying to use my phone or more portable device than my IPad, it doesn’t work, and I have to take the pictures one by one to get all of the pieces on each device. 2. The second problem is the flipping page feature. I know the app calibrates to one side or the other by tapping on the right or left side, but I think there needs to be a heightened sensitivity setting. The reason for this is because I play at recitals and in public areas often. I have played at some mini concerts until COVID 19 came around. With the page not flipping when I tap it, IT MESSES UP MY PERFORMANCE. I either have to modify the piece to make it like I didn’t make a mistake, or I have to pause awkwardly mid performance. This has happened to me many times, and I cannot stand mistakes in public performances. It makes me look like an inexperienced rookie playing. I can understand if I tap once and it doesn’t turn and it turns the second time But when I am button mashing the screen and it still doesn’t respond, that is a problem. Fix these issues, and I’ll give your stars back.

Pencil tools have gotten “too” intuitive. I have loved everything about this app to this date, I have no reason to ever want to use pencil and paper ever again. However, recent updates have made the pencil tools absolutely enraging: switching to eraser, but by the time I touch the pencil to the screen, it has already switched back to pen mode. I didn’t double tap again, yet I have to do this stupid dance with my fingers and screen like four times every time I want to erase something, and in a rehearsal this just cannot be happening! It seems like the tools were better in previous versions, and now it switches on its own for some reason. I’ve gone to the settings and toggled the remember last tool setting and it has not helped. Another tool that would be useful is having clef symbols in the stamps for engraving purposes.

A Must Have App for Musicians!. I highly recommend this app for musicians. It is an excellent way to read, store, and organize music. I have tons of sheet music and music books but rarely use them since they’re so cumbersome to use compared to this app. This app allows easy downloads of sheet music from various sources (including IMSLP, Music Notes, Dropbox), easy notating (with Apple Pencil), and much easier page turning (especially when there are multiple repeating sections). The automatic scanning feature is a little tricky to use but this is not a big deal. All the other great features make up for it. This is one of my most used apps on my iPad.

best music reading app for iPad. I’ve been using forScore now for at least 3 years, and it has only gotten better. I really give it a workout when doing musicals, and forScore makes it easy to deal with cuts, changing the order of numbers in the show. The only thing that was missing was stamps of repeat signs in the Annotations menu, but a friend made me a couple in .png format, they were easy to import, and they work great. I use an iRig BlueBoard for turning pages, and the 2 extra buttons come in very handy, one for making half-page turns, the other I use for bringing up the tuner. (It would be nice if hitting that button again put the tuner away. It’d also be nice if the user could make the tuner and metronome smaller, they cover a lot of the page. Sometimes you just want to leave them in view, hint, hint...) On occasion, several panicked emails have gotten speedy responses from Support, and that is very much appreciated, too. Santa brought an Apple Pencil, and I’m looking forward to learning more about using it. What I’ve done with it so far has been almost seamless to use. Thanks, forScore!!!

Fantastic App for musicians. This app is the greatest bargain there is for musicians - continually upgraded with no charge. I love the pro version. The extra stamps and annotation features are very useful. I’m a user for 5 years since the 1st 12.9” iPad Pro was released in 2016. With the AirTurn Duo page turner, it’s a must have combination for professional keyboardists and other musicians. The facial gesture page turn feature is really cool for organists who cannot place a page turn pedal on the floor because of the organ pedals. Stores and organizes ALL your music. Only limited by the storage of your tablet. This setup has never failed me in 5 years and I use it every day. Keep everything charged and backed up and it is practically fool proof. I had far more problems with printed music trying to find things, bringing the wrong folder, turning two pages, pages stuck together, book won’t stay open, wind blowing pages, stand lamp burning out, etc. I brought paper music as a back up for the 1st year but realized it wasn’t necessary. Also, you don’t need a lamp any longer although I use one just to illuminate the keys in the orchestra pit. Life changing. This is not a music notation app. It is a PDF reader for music and any other PDF file.

Great BUT problems after IOS 12. This is an update on problems listed below after IOS 12 update. ForScore got back to me and found that IOS 12 no longer works with modes 1 and 4 on the Cicada. But switching to other modes resolves the problem. They also problem solved the issue I was experiencing with the screen blackout. They are very responsive and I appreciate their help. I’ve used ForScore for years and it is great. But ever since IOS 12, I’ve experienced two terrible problems. I use the Pageflip Cicada to turn pages and now it doesn’t work with ForScore after the update. The Cicada works with all other IOS apps that use page scrolling. The second problem is that previously ForScore locked the screen so that you didn’t experience screen blackout. Now it reverts to whatever the IOS Display setting is set to. I hope the developers are able to fix these problems. Otherwise, the app will not be very useable.

Best music app out!!!. I had been using IK Multimedia iGigBook but one of my complaints with them is I have to use one of their Bluetooth pedals and it doesn’t support using midi messages to turn pages, this app does, now I can just bring one pedalboard to a gig to control turning effects on and off, operating my looper app, and dedicating two of the pedals to turn pages back and forth. I use this for guitar chords and lyrics and it’s super easy to import them into the app as PDF files, I can even create a chord chart in something like Pages on my iPad and then export it from there directly into forScore. Thank you for making an app that doesn’t force you to buy a company’s hardware pedal to make it work, this is a dream come true!

Frustrating/Persistent Glitch despite iOS and app updates. I have always loved this app. I have always used it with my 1st generation iPad Pro but, for the last couple of months, I have been having troubling issues with forScore. The single page turns are starting to lag a lot and when I use half page turns and jump around within a set list, I will turn half a page and the following half page will show the next chart instead of the next page. To get it to go away, I need to tap forward once more (this allows the full following page to display) and tap back once (so I can go back to where I initially intended to be). This is unacceptable to use during a performance because it is causing me to make mistakes and miss entrances. Please have a look into this and find a way to fix it. My iPad is old but it is still in perfectly usable condition and I don’t imagine that should affect how the software works. As much as I would like to avoid it, I have to leave my rating at 2 stars until this problem is resolved.

Priceless for Musicians!. I have been using ForScore for over two years now. The combination of this program with my AirTurn pedals on my iPad has been invaluable. It is very easy to import music for my conducting, performing at the piano, and accompanying. It is fairly simple to use at the basic level and there is plenty of support documentation for more complicated tasks. Being able to annotate is fantastic and you can also use it to sign documents electronically! The best part of it is that it is so easy on my back. I probably hold what would be close to 100 pounds of music on my iPad. I only have to keep a back up copy of what I am performing that day in my briefcase. It is technology after all. 😏 However, I have never had to use that backup because it just works every time. Well done ForScore!

All jazzmen need this Ap!. I am a semi pro jazz piano player who gigs with numerous other jazz musicians. In the jazz community, it is very common to work out of jazz fake books called “real books”. The ability to have all these books in one convenient Ap, is truly life changing. No more briefcases of books in terrible condition. No more pages blowing around in the wind on gigs outside. No more torn lost pages! No more searching for which book has the song ‘Reincarnation of a lovebird’. It’s right there in the index! At the touch of the screen I have an index that takes me to any song! Than I find out the band leader can have his book linked to other musicians who also have an iPad and this Ap? Utterly amazing! My bass player loves it too. I used to jump around different songs into another and the poor guy had to fake it, figure out where it was and get to it before I hit the bridge, now either he is already there because he is linked to mine or he uses the quick index. If I could give this Ap ten stars I would. The only way to make it better would be to make it free. I can’t even THINK of an improvement to make.

Wonderful with a few issues. I absolutely love this app, and use it religiously every day. I have been using it for the last two years, and overall don’t have many complaints. Since I have been using it for so long, I feel it’s time I finally left some feedback. There are two issues I have, however; 1. When marking up music, it brings a toolbar up at the top of the screen. When numbering measures at the top, this makes it extremely difficult to write at the top of the score. We need the ability to be able to mark up without the toolbar there, or at least have the ability to move the toolbar to where we would prefer it (like toward the bottom or as a side bar) 2. Since the most recent update, there is a TON of lag when marking up scores. I use the Apple Pencil, and I’ve never had problems. With the recent update, however, whenever I markup my scores, there is a lag between what I’m writing and when it actually appears on the page. It’s so bad that I’m having to actually rewrite markings because it lagged so much the first time I wrote it that it didn’t actually register to the page. It’s so frustrating that it’s getting to where I can’t even mark my scores because the lag is so bad. THIS HAS TO BE FIXED! Aside from these two issues, this app is absolutely wonderful. It is a must have for any serious musician. I hope these two issues can be solved in the future, and hopefully the second issue will be fixed very soon!

Fantastic App for musicians. NEEDS BLANK STAFF for notes.. This app is a must for professional musicians. I am slowly transitioning from about 25 3 ring binders to my iPad. I make notes all over my music, often writing in parts on top of chord charts, either above the chord chart or off to the side. Freehand notes, I.e, text, is great but I often prefer notation. I hate to have to freehand 5 lines to make a blank staff on which to write my notation. PLEASE add the ability to enter a blank staff when making notes. It could be fairly short (about 1”) with the option to drag it and make it longer. Then we can write our one notation on that staff and have it be really neat. If that gets added, I would give it 5 stars. That’s about all that’s really missing, in my opinion. UPDATE: Please, PLEASE, please add the ability to add a blank staff onto the music so that we might write our notation on actual staff lines, and make it available to us commoners who don’t rent (subscription) our music.

No Support and pages turn by themselves. The app can do a lot, but when it comes to reliability, they need to do some serious work. There is something that causes pages to turn without touching the screen. It can be 1-4 pages in quick succession. It’s nerve wracking in the middle of a performance to keep track of pages and still be able to engage an audience. I put in a support ticket and got a fairly quick response with a couple of questions about the PDFs I was using and I responded quickly. More than a month and several follow-ups later, still no response—nothing. I even have the PRO subscription, so thought I’d get at least a some sort of response from support. Can’t say I can suggest the app for performance. Definitely don’t go with the pro subscription, since it basically gets you nothing more useful than the basic app.

Just what I was looking for!. After reading some of the more recent reviews reporting that the annotation function was buggy, it was with some trepidation that I purchased the app. I needed a way to erase fingerings on classical guitar scores and put in my own choices. I noticed that there had been a recent update to the app to fix some bugs, so I decided to download it to my new iPad with Apple Pencil. In less than 15 minutes, I imported my pdf score, made a copy to be annotated (keeping an original clean copy), renamed my new file and then started to annotate my score. Because of review reports of annotations disappearing, I made just a few changes and then saved the file. I am new to using Apple Pencil, so a few erase streaks and extra lines showed up when I didn’t expect them. I found that if I left annotation mode before trying to scroll, things went a lot better.😉 Now the big challenge… could I get a hard copy printed? Yes! (I like to read from paper, not a screen)I saved and sent the file to my email and opened it on my computer with attached printer and produced my hard copy. (Yes I know about WiFi and Bluetooth tech, but I wanted to just get this done with the existing setup.) Overall, I quickly figured out how to make this app function to do the job I needed to do without frustration or steep learning curve. Well done, Developer!

Live changer. ForScore has been a live changer to me. It's not only about getting rid of all the sheets while practicing and performing but also allowing a cleaner stage to the public's view. After I started using this app, I learn my new pieces faster and feel more comfortable playing chamber music with my trio (flute, viola, and guitar), and duo (harp and guitar). I can go easily to review my old pieces, find repertoire to my students, and send annotated scores to them even if they don't use ForScore. However, I haven't still found all the stamps I need for classical guitar annotations like bars, strings numbers, etc. I hope somebody else will post them out there, or the developers will make them available on the app's site. Update: On the other hand, using the Apple Pencil on the iPad Pro, the experience of writing annotations is like using actual pencil and paper with the advantage that everything is neat and cleaner.

Almost perfect, but there is one thing.... I’ve used this app for many years now and don’t ever plan on not using in the future. I’ll admit, I just downloaded it and went to town without a real grasp of how to do things in it. I buried my head in the sand like an ostrich as the software is packed full of things that you could screw up things with and I didn’t want to chance that. With that said, the organizational aspect of this software is where I feel it lacks the most. Sure, they threw a bunch of list view options in there but my biggest gripe is the how the bookmarks work. It would be nice if the bookmarks had the option to inherit metadata from the original file so we don’t have to duplicate our work. I also don’t care for seeing bookmarks as an additional score when looking through “all scores.” The whole concept of having a bookmark being it’s own entity bothers me, I suppose? Lol. While the value of this software is absolutely incredible for everything they pack in to it, I’m uninspired and a little frustrated with the watered down organizational aspects of it mostly from a user interface perspective. It sounds like the developers listen to feedback and I hope they take the time to read this constructive criticism. If it turns out I’m just missing something entirely, I’ll update this review again.

Almost PERFECT. I’m a singer and this app is absolutely fantastic and has been my go to rehearsal app for years. No more pounds of papers or scores and the annotation is fantastic! I totally love the Apple Pencil integration, but can we please make it so that you can annotate at the same time as having the piano up? Vocalists often practice with a keyboard and it’s annoying to have to close the keyboard to annotate, then close the annotation to open the keyboard back up. Also, we need to be able to flip pages more easily with the annotation open - how often do we mark things during a run of a piece? It’s hard to remember to go to the very top to flip a page. Can you make the finger tap turn the pages with the annotation open when using the Apple Pencil? Thank you so much for creating this app!

Simply the Best. I use this app every single day, and if you are a pro (or anyone ) concerned about migrating into using a device for all of your music have no fear.. they have thought of literally everything. You can reorganize pages, make bookmarks, work faster and more efficiently, etc. I think this is the single best piece of software I’ve ever used, I mean every single little problem I have thought to myself hm I wish they would fix that either promptly got fixed or was always available as an option that I didn’t realize For instance, it used to annoy me that when you used the Apple Pencil for annotation (which I really don’t think is very necessary for musicians but I had it anyways, whatever whatever) it would pull up the same menu that you use for writing with your finger, that you would have to manually close thereafter which would add an extra step every time I use it.. Well, as it turns this is an option you can disable in settings! Hopefully that made sense.. But yes if you don’t buy any other app you have got to buy this one. Rock solid reliability (way way better than using android/windows/macOS/other OS that are subject to crashes and all that)

Apple Music terrible. First let me say that I have used this app for years and in the beginning no problems. Then along came the updates each one making it more impossible to play Apple Music that is attached to my sheet music. I have attached hundreds of tunes from Apple Music in the past and they played beautifully. Now if I try to play the attached Apple music I get this message “this song cannot be played due to unresolved issues with the system’s music player on this version of iPadOS”. I am beyond frustrated. I have sent a message to forscore but no reply. They know about this issue and have a workaround but it doesn’t work for me. I guess I am just trying to warn people who use Apple Music that it is disaster in connection to Forscore. Just my experience.

Love. Got an iPad Pro 10.5 just so I can have the ability to use ForScore. I love everything about this app, after being recommended by many of my musician friends. As a musician Who is consistently traveling, it is nice to have all the music at your convenience without having to carry all your books. It looks great on the 10.5 iPad, and I bet it looks even better on the 12.9 iPad Pro. I am fine with the size of a 10.5. Adding music from IMSLP and other websites are easy, and if you have the extra $$ to get the Apple Pencil, I highly recommend it since we are constantly writing in fingering notes in our scores. This is definitely my favourite app to use for practising and gigging. If you have not got the app yet, what are you waiting for!

Couldn’t live w/o forScore. I hope to never be w/o my iPad and forScore. I have over 400 songs stored in the app. now. I asked support if there is a limit, and they said the only limit is the space on your iPad. Make sure you backup all of that to the cloud, and choose “archive”. I dont always b/u to the cloud, that takes a long time. So I archive locally to the iPad at least after every 10 new songs stored. My file size is now 1.6 GB. The people who wrote forScore are geniuses. They did a great job making it easy to organize and search for songs as long as you have filled in the attributes of your songs. Cropping is one of the greatest tools, along with writing with an iPencil, you know it’s necessary to scribble in the fingering and rhythm sometimes on top of the sheet music, and in different colors. It’s reliable and has never crashed or frozen up. ForScore developers, please don’t drop the product, keep up with future iOS’s. Thanks again.

Good but problematic. ForScore is certainly the best music reader I’ve used in terms of functionality. It is easy to upload music to the app and view your music as well as make your own set lists. The other features is where the problems are. The metronome function is cool and the annotations with Apple Pencil are fantastic, but other useful features and actually navigating the application leave much to be desired. Accessing an app’s settings menu shouldn’t require a google search to figure it out. Likewise, instructions for using other features such as links have ambiguous instructions that force you to use trial and error to figure out. Trying to access your library isn’t as easy as tapping a link that says “Library”; same goes for your set lists. There’s also the option to back up your library and set lists, but it’s not easy as allowing it to access your iCloud Drive account like you might when you first launch Pages or something. Speaking of backing everything up, the feature is mislabeled as “Services”. The backup section doesn’t properly backup your files and allow to easily restore. So, like the title says, the app is good, but also has a list of problems and usability/interface issues that can ward off new users.

So grateful, very impressed!. A lot of times, I will get a call for a gig where there’s an original tune, or a song I do not know. So, I’ll either make a “cheat sheet” or simply chart the song before a rehearsal (or on the plane on route to the gig!). However, 3-ring binders and piles of road maps can become a pain real fast! No music stands with the backline, a “windy” outdoor gig... need I say more? I used ForScore for the first time last week after purchasing the app months ago and I asked myself... Why did I wait so long to use it? I know I have just scratched the surface with my application, but I am thrilled at the coolness of this app. I look forward to learning more in the weeks ahead. Thank you for such a great product to make the music world a better place for musicians worldwide!

Total Game Changer. As a professional musician and educator...forescore has really changed everything for me. I use it on a daily basis. Reading charts on a gig has never been so streamlined and organized for me, but that’s just scratching the surface of the app’s functionality. It’s great for keeping track of everything you’re currently practicing (even has a built in metronome and recording function). I have also started using it in my lessons to take notes for my students. It’s more professional than handwriting the notes, yet much faster than it would be to type the notes into Finale/Sibaleus. If you are are a professional musician, not having this app puts you behind the game. Seriously.

The most used app on my iPad!. ForScore has so many useful features. Have used for 2 years and still discovering new things ForScore can do. Like combining PDFs while keeping ForScore annotations intact. So much easier than carrying notebooks full of paper, especially if you want to have ALL your music available at a moment’s notice. I use the PageFlip Dragonfly pedal to turn pages. Set lists are setup in a really useful way that helps keep multiple versions of songs clear. User interface with Dropbox is super easy to use. Sync multiple iPads together so the pages all turn together if you like. The possibilities with this app are endless. I play piano at different jobs almost every day, and this is my go-to app. Considering usefulness vs price, they’re practically giving it away. I was a little nervous when I first went paperless-what if it stops working in the middle of a show? But no worries-the app just works!

An Incredible App. I've used this app almost every day for over four years, and think it's about time to write a review. I am a pianist that plays individually and for a wide variety of groups. This app, paired with an iPad Pro and Bluetooth foot pedal for page turning, is the only app I've ever needed for all my music. I've played three entire high school musicals as the primary pianist, with the entire books scanned and imported into forScore. I play in two community jazz bands, and I can take pictures of the paper music and combine them into PDFs directly in the app. I work at a church, where the songs that I play each weeks are organized into many, many folders. And I accompany 3+ choirs, with hundreds of PDFs for them in my forScore library. This is one incredible app that I will continue to use for years to come. I can't recommend it enough!

A must have for professional musicians. Gone are the days of having big 3 ringed binders with several copies of manuscripts weighing down a stand. Or sheet music falling off a stand while you're trying to play it. The iPad and this app have revolutionized the way we practice and rehearse today. This app is simply amazing. I use it everyday. They really have thought of everything with this app and I have been thoroughly impressed by it. I have been using it for a good 2 years now. Features such as making set lists, annotations, categorizing by artist/composers/songs etc, share options directly from the app, creating backups of your organizations and being able to open attachments from the iOS mail app directly in this app make it simply amazing. I can't say enough about it because I would just continue to ramble. To the developers of this app... We the musicians greatly appreciate you for creating something that makes our lives and careers easier. We thank you for creating something that's seamless, easy to use, has every feature we could want all while running smooth with little to no crashes. Thank you also for constantly keeping this app updated and adding additional features. I’m always learning something new with this software I didn’t already know it could do.

Who’s Fault. I have a problem with apple notification banners that pop up on the top of a page of music while I’m playing. Usually the banner will quickly disappear except for this time that I had an important solo on a piece that I played recently at church. Apple’s banner kept insisting that I agree to the latest download that I didn’t want. Every 2 seconds that banner would appear. I kept swiping it away, but it would come right back. Just before my important part it popped up again. I couldn’t make it disappear and -play bassoon at the same time so I blew the solo. Some of my musician friends have also had this problem. I asked an Apple tech person about this problem. I was told that it must be a problem with my 4Score app. Is it your problem or Apples?

Beware of this update. Don’t do it if you’re a serious user. Critical issues…. Several critical bugs that have cost me hours of non-value added work. I am a professional that uses forScore on an IPad Pro connected to a Korg Kronos. Here are the issues: 1 - All pages of scores (created on versions earlier than the update) that have been both cropped and manually marked up are a mess. The markup layer no longer aligns with the underlying PDF as the crop characteristics of the PDF layer are gone. Made many pages with manually added notes completely useless. This has created hours of work for me to fix scores I need to use for gigs. 2 - The sending of midi program changes is broken. When the iPad is connected to a synth, sending program changes from forScore crashes the forScore app (completely quits). This happens with both midi embedded in the score as well as midi buttons. Also, when the iPad is connected to a synth changing programs directly for the synth also crashes the app. These crashes don’t happen every time, but it always will crash on the 1st or second or third or fourth etc. It always will crash. Completely unreliable for any performances. This was a nice feature that is now useless. 3 - Navigation buttons created on an earlier version - pressing these buttons on a score (i.e. to back to page 1) causes an immediate app crash.

Good Bye Good Ol’ Days. I have been using forScore for several years. The app is incredibly flexible! I am able to do all the work I used to do on hard copies such as notes, highlights and other mark ups. I can organize songs according to my need and really like the ability to create set lists for the groups in which I perform and conduct. I’ve invested in an air turn which is great when I’m performing on an instrument. Importing PDF’s is easy and here’s a game changer; I’m about to send songs to my keyboard player who also has forScore and they’ll be received in a couple of minutes. No more packing them in a big envelope, going to the local P.O. and spending a ton on postage. That saves time and money better used elsewhere. There are many more features that make this app worth every penny but one of the best is I can now say good buy to a heavy case full of books, folders and hard copies of music and carry my iPad! Thanks forScore!

Great music storage!. Very happy with forScore app. At the recommendation of friends from my ukulele group, I purchased an inexpensive refurbished iPad Air and downloaded the app right away. I was able to store all the songs from our extensive collection by quickly copying to forScore from Google Drive. What used to take two large binders to store, now fits on my iPad, and it’s much quicker and easier to find the next song. Friday I was able to put about 30 of those songs into a set list which made it really quick to jump to the next song. It worked perfectly for this outdoor jam session without WiFi connection or worrying about the wind blowing my pages. I was able to use the darkroom feature to take a picture of a paper copy of a song that wasn’t in the Google Drive, and use annotate to change the chord timing to my own preference. Our group is constantly adding new songs, and this will make it easier to add and keep organized. I look forward to adding my private collection to the Dave Rubber City Ukes

Honestly worth more than $20. Update: Removed 2 stars because there seems to be a common issues with annotations missing or merging. This has been going on since September with the 13.1 update (I believe). Hopefully, this post can get some attention. Beides the major bugs, the app is still great. I was a bit hesitant when I saw the $20 price tag at first. This is taking into consideration that I’ve never payed for an app in the past. However, after seeing a few friends with it and trying it myself, I’m extremely satisfied with the features this app presents. I’m able to share my music with other people and all of my IOS devices, organize and easily notate my music, and add audio and vocal tracks to the bottom of the score. Obviously, there’s more available features than that, but I found these to be the most beneficial to me in the long run.

Comments and Requests on Version 11. Thank you for an amazing app that makes my life as a college musician so much easier. Just a comment on the latest update, the immediate first thing that I noticed was that when I was using my apple pencil, the stroke was much thicker than It used to be. I think that the variable width curves are great however I like to add very finepoint notes in my music and the stroke is a little too thick compared to what it used to be. It would be nice to either make the thin much thinner, or make an option to turn the variable width option off so that we can get that finetip stroke if possible. Also, is it possible to have an actual document scanner in the app that can crop the sheet music and upload straight to forScore? I keep having to use the Notes app, scan it, and then transfer to forScore. One last request, when sorting the music, can we have a way to assign sheet music to a specific Genre, Composer, etc. instead of having to type them in exactly the same for each piece? Kind of like the way we add music to playlists on music apps. Thank you so much for your great work!

Everything I could Hope for. I’ve been using ForScore for about 5 years and it has just been getting better and better. As a gigging musician, I use it for everything: guitar, piano, and singing. I love that you can access everything in one app. Also, the ability to move set lists around and write notes on all of the music is really helpful. It has really made things so much easier. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone that plays music. The one thing it is lacking is the ability to copy set lists, so you may change them without affecting the original set. It would save a lot of time instead of re-entering the songs. I hope they consider adding that feature; it would be a lifesaver.

Not intuitive. Look I get why everyone is using this app. But I have to say that I have found this app very frustrating to learn to use. Basic things like figuring out how to pull up the “navigation bar” are very difficulty for me to figure out. I searched the documentation over and over trying to figure out what gesture would pull up the navigation bar and found nothing aside from an old blog post from the developer making fun of people who don’t know about long taps (fyi, long taps don’t bring up the navigation bar). I eventually resorted to randomly poking the screen over and over until I got to settings at which point I was able assign my own gestures. I also find the process of importing pdfs to be needlessly laborious and again not clearly explained in the documentation. I guess if I am to use this for gigs I will need to reserve a couple hours of prep time to scream at the app while I desperately try to execute basic functions. And before snide developers dismiss my comment as coming from some techno-phobe… I work with computers all day long and am no stranger to figuring out how to do things.

Good features removed in last update.. I've been using this app for 8 years now and love it. I'm a of a church band, and the ability to have our vast library of music at the ready is amazing. Also great is being able to easily see our music in low light situations. As a guitarist one of my favorite functions is changing pages with a foot pedal and having the other band members' pages follow along. However, the reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5, is the fact that the cue function (which lets others follow my page turns) is now no longer easily accessible at the top of the app. Along with a few other great shortcuts, now I have to dive in to the bottom of the main menu to access that functionality. Also, the display feature to tell me that I am connected is leading disappeared with it. It makes it hard when your in the middle of a gig and have lost connection to need to search for the cue settings. Please fix this and bring back the easily accessible shortcuts.

Great Music Presentation. I have been using this app for several years, and it continues to be updated and improved. Additionally, support by the developers is magnificent, and they have always answered my questions quickly and helpfully. I used to haul around big notebooks, but as the playlist of my personal music and the band has expanded, that has become very impractical. I now have 1000+ songs ready to cue up wherever I go - so if I fly to another city and have a gig there, having music handy is very easy. Also, it is easy to share my music - along with performance notes I jot down on the music sheets - with other band members. Inputting new music is easy and straightforward. All-in-all, I have been very happy with this app and highly recommend it to anyone considering moving to an electronic music display.

The best Sheet Music Viewer hands down. I am a professional Trumpet player, and gone are the days of carrying 10 fake books, 5 band folders and stand lights. With a little time with a scanner, you can have your entire sheet music collection a couple clicks away. I play many different styles of music from Brass Band To Dixieland. I only need to take the official band folder home when I need to scan new music. If something comes up, I don’t have to feel guilty about the band not having the folder in my absence. I have my music sorted by “genres”, which is just one way to sort the very well thought out database. Everyone is just amazed at the way this works. ½ page turns allows you to see the next page while still seeing the bottom half staves of the current page. This avoids having to memorize the first few notes on the next page. Setting up D.C.’s and D.S.’s is easy with links that can be set up. For tricky repeats, you can duplicate pages and arrange them so that it becomes a hands free page turn with products like AirTurn etc. I’ll never go back to the old way again. Easily the best $15 I’ve ever spent on any app. Gigging musicians and piano bar players, this is a must have!!

Amazing! Life changer!. After recently purchasing an iPad for the sole purpose of reading sheet music, a friend told me about this app and I've now been recommending it to all my friends! Something as simple as the crop function just makes reading music on the iPad so much easier. The link function for Coda's is unbelievable. Such a great idea. My only recommendation for the programmers is to make the stamp button/draw button separate and quicker to click (for rehearsals, when someone says "change that note to land on beat 4", etc), and include the different note types in the stamps (I've drawn them myself now) Apart from that, this app is excellent and you should buy it if you're a musician!

Foreshore. Probably the best app on my iPad! It’s been a life changer especially when live performances are allowed! Everything organised & accessible. Especially love the Set list organiser.

Wow. A truly outstanding music application.. Was looking to digitize my music, and tried out a few apps, including Goodreader and scorecerer. This is by far the best. This app is reliable and everything that it claims to be. The PDF cropping features especially useful, as is the ability to annotate too. An amazing app which I'd highly recommend to all musos.

Something wrong with the photo import. Can you please fix the problem. I cannot select photos to import into forscore anymore after I have upgraded to iPadOS 17.1.1. No technique support. Thank you.

A first-rate app. I've been using forScore for about six months, having graduated from paper versions of my music. (I play both bass and acoustic electric guitar.) I have my iPad/forScore paired with an Airturn device for page turning, and the combination works reliably and well. ForScore has more options inbuilt than I could ever possibly need, and I've found the defaults, in general, give me the operation I want. Kudos to the developers for their recent changes to the annotation mechanism (which I use extensively) - it was previously a little clunky and not terribly intuitive, but the version 8 update showed they've been doing some thinking (and listening), and the result is much more usable. What I need when performing with a band is confidence in the technology, and the Forscore/Airturn combo has not stuffed up once.

New icon looks terrible. I just want to point out after all these years using the app that the new app icon looks horrendous. It looks completely out of place from the rest of Apples design and looks like someone pieced two random symbols together. Don’t fix it if it’s not broken. The previous one at least looks elegant.

Bug after zoom in. This is a great app, especially after the update and two page view is available. However, after I zoom in or editing the score, the left hand side of the page stayed zoom in and I can't find a way to fix it. It would be great if this problem could be solved coz I still can't have those pages back to the normal size. Thanks!

Great but needs polishing. This might be the best sheet music/all round useful music out there. However compared to the rest of the iPadOS ecosystem it feels like it needs a bit of work to bring it to a premium state. A lot of the features are hidden behind menus, only just discovered it has a piano feature after 6 months of use - ui has a low discoverability. If you want to have one app that does has all your music and does it all, this is for you, I just wish it were a bit more intuitive to use.

Useful, great for the gigging muso. I tried this app out and found it useful for things like wedding music (I've given up carrying half a ton of books when I play for weddings -- my back is muuuuch happier!). The only thing I've had issues with is the auto page turn function, which is either too early or too late, and never just right. It would be great if the app had an audio monitoring capability.

Lives up to its promise. I bought my iPad specifically to run forScore, and after using it for just a few weeks I am delighted. So many well-planned and useful functions, I can see it becoming practically indispensable and I’ll soon be able to put my bulky piano albums aside. A real bonus is the way that a piece of scanned-in sheet music can be linked to a proper recording; when away from the piano I can follow the written music while listening to the way it should be played. Five stars too for the customer service I received when I had a problem accessing my own recorded efforts. It was my fault (I wasn’t familiar with the iPad’s Control Centre panel and had confused it with the app's media controller), but forScore’s patient and helpful advisor soon had everything sorted. iPads were made for this app!

I love it! (features request). I've been using this software for years, and I love its features and completeness in terms of having the basics. It works fine and doesn't crash often. However, there are a few new features that I'd like to see: - When I crop a page and want to edit the crop later on, I have to "uncrop" the page to then crop it again, instead of just editing the previous crop. - It would be helpful to have a "night shift mode" that inverts the black and white on the page, possibly with a checkbox to turn on/off the edited layers. This way, it can consume less power when using tablets and strain less the eyes of the user while studying in a dark environment. - When selecting songs to add to a setlist, the user should be able to choose songs from bookmarks and another setlist. I’m really glad I started using it with methods and labels to help me further on. Now my app is super organised and I can find anything really easily. It’s definitely worth the price!

Crash. Crashes when tapping “rearrange”

Bad quality in 2023. This was a great app in its heyday, but now it has too many unfixed bugs that were added in v13 and v14. It’s becoming unworkable, even with Pro. Getting sick of losing my work and setlists due to sync bugs. Getting sick of poor usability, especially for Apple Pencil annotations and for singing with audio accompaniment tracks.

Fantastic app for singers and musicians. This is a great app for anyone looking to create a library of scores with audio attached, which can be easily arranged into play lists. Good search features. It connects to cloud servers such as Dropbox to make importing files simple, but also works with opening from email. The ability to annotate scores is just one of the many additional features that make this an very useful app.

Fantastic App. Having thought of the idea of music scores on iPad I was delighted to see an app released which does just that. It is a fantastic app for anyone who plays music. I use for guitar, and the size from PDF files is perfect for reading with the iPad backlight. Well designed into separate genres for music types, it also allows the correct music name to be edited, as PDFs have a 20 character limit. Thoroughly recommended, also the forScore technical assistance was prompt and helpful when I mistakenly used the wrong file type. Easy to setup if you follow instructions. Just buy it!

Great app!. This is my favorite app - easy to use and reliable. I never use paper music anymore and wouldn't dream of going back to paper. I love the links, and the ability to make notes on the music. I haven't tried the auto page turning yet, but will try it out with the Widor Toccata on pipe organ. It's great that the app is updated regularly - excellent job!

Review. I bought this app after reading great reviews. Tools don’t display, share facility won’t work. Import facility worked once but didn’t work again. I tried to get support but it was never available. Waste of money.

Keeps freezing in edit mode!. Used to work perfectly! Update has made thing so slow and glitchy.

I love this app. As a musician there is no better app, if I didn’t own an iPad this app would be enough reason to get one. All your music, beautifully presented, wherever you go. (As an app developer working on boring big corporate apps I dream of working on something as good as this)

Lacking one very important feature. It would be very handy if with one button, you could eliminate and erase all pencil marks in an entire score, not just on a single page. It would also be handy if there was an icon to Indicate whether scores had annotations on them, or if they were unmarked. Apart from that, however, it’s really good. It seems silly as well, but a rainbow colour pen would also be very handy for adding colour to the score as I use this a lot with teaching and print out parts with annotations to help my students. 🙂

Excellent app. Perfect for organising all my random pdf. music scores into one easily assessable location. Love it.

Loved this app but now unreliable. I have loved this app over the years, use it every day for work but since the last couple of updates, it has become very unreliable….will be performing and will turn the page to a blank screen. It happens so often that I will no longer use it for performance. Wish I’d never updated it.

forScore 13 for Mac OS not available everywhere. Version 13 doesn’t appear in the Australian Mac OS store, so it’s impossible to take advantage of cloud syncing. Not impressed.

Very good. Justifies the price of an iPad Pro. Recommend

Amazing Software Development Team. I started using this app about a month ago, before the latest update. I thought it was a pretty great app as it did two out of the three things that I needed a music score reading app to do: View my music Play my backing tracks in the one application (wirelessly) However, as I perform on the violin, page turns were an issue. I expressed my ideas on how this could be resolved to forScore: develop the ability to program page turns to a backing track. The great news is that they listened, and invested their time and energy into further improving this app for the end user in their most recent updates. I don't know of a software development team that is that open to new ideas about improving the user experience for their application. I think they must be very proud of their app. Bravo forScore for developing a complete score reading app that brings my music creation into the 21st century.

I absolutely love forScore but I need it to be more accessible. I have low vision and bought forScore because of the reflow feature. I love where it’s going but at the moment it needs some work to be accessible to me. If, in future, you are able to improve the app to better handle repeated sections and first and second endings, whilst in reflow, I would be forever grateful. Likewise, if I was able to tell the system where a bar was and use a foot pedal every number of bars to move through the music (rather than being a continues stream), it would be life changing. Thank you for considering partially sighted musicians in the creation of this app. I hope these insights are helpful.

Amazing. This a truly useful music app for ipad

Top Stuff. I use this tool every day

Wonderful app. I’m a chorister and find this app perfect for my needs. It is so much easier than rustling through piles of scores. No more erasing pencil annotations. I can’t begin to tell you how useful and flexible it is.

This just keeps getting better and better (2). v3.1: Another killer update! I hope the metronome accuracy is completely fixed. As for the new pitch feature, it would be great if the note can be sustained, instead of stopping after 1s. My previous review below still stands - the dev(s) really do continue to improve this app! --- It is enormous credit to the developers that they constantly update and refine the app. Since I've had the app last month, there has already been 3 updates already!!! When you purchase this app, you can rest assured that you have made a wise investment. The email support is excellent, and the app itself is a pleasure to use. forScore sure has come a long way in 1 year - from merely a PDF reader to a fully-functional music score utility! Excellent job devs! (P.S. Remember to use the promotion offer link if you are buying an AirTurn BT-105 hands-free wireless page turner.)

For a working musician. I like this app very much. I work with a lot of different groups and situations requiring keeping track of many scores and so I have groups or sets for the different places I work. I like the notes I can make in the scores and the ability to link recordings to the score as well. I use it most days. : )

This App Is Great!. Our church Worship Team just switched to iPads instead of folders for our sheet music using forScore. What a fantastic app!! You can tell that musicians have been involved in the making of this app. So many great features that musicians would want, too many to mention in this review. The Dropbox implementation is fantastic. I no longer have to put folders together for our team, but just share the songs using Dropbox. Thoroughly recommended!!

Never looking back. Having my entire music library (the equivalent of a room’s worth of sheet music) with me on the go, 24/7 is something short of a revelation. For teaching, performance, travelling I just can’t recommend this app enough. Also paired with a Bluetooth page turner (Blueturn for me) it allows you to do things that you wouldn’t with physical pages, like rehearse and perform reading the score (something that my string quartet all do) As far as useful tech (and I’m a bit of a geek in this regard) forScore is the app that has made my professional career so much simpler❤️

Great app but crashed in the middle of a gig. Good when it works, glad the developers made an update, it probably has a better crash rate than most apps; you just notice it more when it crashes because you’re left high and dry. Will always be bringing paper charts just in case now.

Brilliant app.. I use forescore every day. I have hundreds of scores at my fingertips. With a new 12.9 inch iPad I can annotate and crop scores to fit the entire screen and don’t need my glasses. With Apple pencil it’s easy to add notes clean up old scores. One very useful feature is that using a broad white line with the annotation tool allows you to clean up old documents and remove marks. If I need to sign documents, I find it easier to use this tool than Apple’s ‘Mark up’ tool.

Brilliant!. After several years of using bloated three ring binders, having to battle the wind blowing our pages everywhere at outdoor gigs or fumbling around trying to find the right song (whilst losing people on the dance floor) we discovered forScore. What a difference it's made! Now we run two iPads on stage loaded with all our music, pre-programmed set lists and often wonder why we didn't do this ages ago With the ability to Bluetooth pages between each other live on stage as well as the Dropbox function, the incredibly helpful annotation function and many more features, forScore has been perfect & worth every cent. I highly recommend it for anyone needing a sheet music program that is simple or as advanced as your needs require

Getting better with each update.. I used this to carry all my music on a choir tour of China and for the World Choir Games in Shaoxing. I'm now using it for onstage reference in my band. The updates have added features such as text annotation which has been great. I have written to the developer about some needed features. They always write back promptly and the features have been improved with each release. Well done. Further update: the developer explained to me that there were no plans to provide a "deskew" feature for straightening crooked pages in scanned PDFs. As of 23 November 2015… "The biggest reason for this has to do with forScore’s annotations. Annotation images are separate files that are layered over a PDF page, and in the case of text fields, include data about where (x,y coordinates) on the page to place them. If we allow users to deskew a PDF, this would have significant ramifications for any annotations and make alignment of that kind of data extremely difficult to get right." My suggestion is that deskew could be available, but "locked out" once a page is annotated, allowing the user to deskew a page before making annotations. So, still only four out of five stars because it lacks this feature.

Great app. I’m new to the iPad and forScore scene but this app is very easy to use and keeps things organised. The only things I find not five stars great is that the tuner is so extremely sensitive that it’s impossible to tune my violin; the tuning fork plays the pitch only for about two secs and I wish it could be an infinity drone so I can practice with it; and lastly I tried to make a playlist but couldn’t figure out how.. All things considered, this is a great app worth the money.

Functional and Efficient. A great app that makes sorting and filing PDF sheet music easier. Also, with its handy screen lock and easy page turn functions, it makes playing longer pieces more enjoyable without having to worry about turns.

I miss the FTP download option, but get it’s not your fault. Xoxo

Very useful app for the pro muso. Been surprised how often I have been using this app. Very helpful where I can put my set list into order in a couple of seconds. No longer spending close to 30 mins before the show getting all my charts into order. Forscore let's me do it in literally a couple of seconds. Been using the annotate tools regularly to jot down rhythms and performance ideas. Need to get a foot pedal to change pages - that's the only bummer. Can only view one page at a time.

Good. At first this app seems expensive for $30. But after getting it, the uses for it become quite evident. This is definitely a major upgrade from using paper scores. It is very helpful for musicians and has most features you might want, while being laid out very clearly, making it very easy to navigate. Would recommend.

Good for the money. Great little app. Missing a few things that could be very useful such as auto-scrolling the music with the backing track and inserting auto-page turn triggers. Apart from that, can't fault it. Better than a lot of others out there.

A revolution for musicians.. ForScore is a fantastic app that allows you to store all your sheet music, create set lists, notate your pieces, practice with the built in metronome, even turn pages with a small gesture as you play. Easy to use, intuitive interface, ForScore is an essential piece of software for the modern musician.

Everything I need. I've had other apps which provide page turns etc, but this one is a lot quicker and I can use both half page turn or double tap for full page turn. Also the flexibility to branch to different sections of the score is great.

Extremely well conceived and executed!!!. This is the first time I've ever been compelled to write a review. ForScore has obviously been written by musicians, for musicians. The features are exactly what I need when I find myself on a gig and they're all so intuitive and easy to operate. I can't say how many times I've been using ForScore and thought to myself, "I wonder if I can do something?", and within less than a minute I've worked out that ForScore can do it, I've discovered how to do it and in fact I've completed the task! I'm very pleased to highly recommend ForScore to working musicians... Now if Apple will make a concert sized iPad the world would be perfect!!!

Get the app. This app is the only reason why I bought an apple device and it was worth it

Best Music App Ever!. This is amazing for music and totally reliable.

Love it!. I have recommended this app to over 100 people!! would really like the ability to drag / import whole folders though as I organize everything before importing into folders and then have to reorganize it as I can only import unorganized items.

Best app for professional musicians. Storing and reading sheet music has never been easier. Gigs requiring sheet music for lots of different tunes are no longer a hassle. Just alphabetise your search and you’re ready to go! The Dark room feature for taking your handwritten charts on the go without a fuss is incredibly helpful as well. Editing and marking on charts with the Apple Pencil in rehearsals quick and efficient too. Well worth the price!

Très efficace. Vraiment extraordinaire pour les musiciens amateurs ou professionnels. Merci !

Annotations all moved around after update. After the most recent update, all my annotations got moved around on the page. This includes hours and hours of translations, fingerings, etc. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE and my scores are now useless

Writing Issue. Ever since updated, when writing with an apple pencil it has a delay and sometimes do not even write the stuff I wrote in.. It is really frustrating. The delay in writing is a huge issue when it comes to rehearsing.

Perfect App One Suggestion. I LOVE this app. You can tell it was created by musicians for musicians. It really does just everything you need it to do in the most intuitive was possible. I can’t really go to the gig without it at this point and shudder when I think of gigs before ForScore (paper charts… ugh). My only recommendation (and I do mean only) is that it would be fantastic if there was a way to jot notes on a chart within a set list but only be able to see those notes on that specific chart while looking at it in that set list. Ie, if you’re playing in multiple cover bands, you might have a song that gets played across multiple cover bands in different ways so it would be awesome to be able to pull up the original chart, make notes for that specific band and then be able to access a clean copy of that chart so you can make notes for the next band that plays that song in case they do things differently. All in all great job with the app folks! Couldn’t be more happy with it. 👍👍👍

Mostly good. The App is ok and maybe the best out there. It is also a bit buggy and frustrating to work with, the way it operates could be cleaner and less tap heavy. I find myself taping many times for simple operations. Its still the best I’ve found.

Top Notch Music Folder and Performance Friend. You Truly Can Not Go Wrong With ForScore!!! I am a professional Opera Singer having gone through notable programs such as The Schulich School Of Music, and many of my colleagues there and elsewhere swear by this application! I certainly agree with their assignments! Bravi!!!

Great App. I am in the process of moving all my charts and set lists into the app. So far, I love it

Crashed. It was ok at first..suddenly it stopped working. I am so disappointed, all my hard work is gone

Would be five because I love it!. Everything is awesome! Except for 2 important things. In notation when I'm trying to add it on the last 2 lines, it wont let me scroll up in the score to add it. I spend too much time trying to line it up with guess work. Its also hard to get auto scroll going I've tried since I got the app. Just cant do it. Otherwise, I love it!

Getting better, but still.... Some features are removed under updates. I understand that apple is not interested in making convenience for everyone, but i’ve enjoyed ftp function a lot. If someone can possibly steal my scores by cracking my home or work wifi, i’ll buy that guy a bottle of wine. Removing functions is pretty silly. But, it is as it is. Thank you for (finally!!) adding option to annotate the score in 2-page layout.

Completely magnificent, just one thing.... Whenever I force quit the app, my goals time resets and it’s kind of annoying that I can’t see how much I practiced in total ver often.

Highlighter feature. Please give us a proper highlighter feature. The one that doesn't make black texts/notes looks smudge.

Page goes blank during performance. I have been using Forscore for the past 5 years as a professional musician and it has been very reliable until the last year, pages will suddenly go blank during performance leaving only my annotations, this is absolutely a horrific experience for anyone who performs classical music professionally. Is there a reason why this happens? Could Forscore fix this? Please don’t be the reason that makes me go back to paper sheet music.

Top Scorer……... Brilliant! I doubt you will find a better music app. In fact, don’t bother searching. Ease of importing……Organizing, cropping, annotation, attaching audible tracks, creating set lists are just some of the features contained in this genius creation. Kudos to the developers.

Great. My profession as a musician is dependant on this app, now, as it’s become essential for me. This is backed up by amazingly dedicated developers who have been working hard and constantly for years now making this one of the best score readers on the market, and have always been responsive to bug reports and feature requests. Despite the higher than average app price, I only need remind myself that I can pay for it multiple times over in an hour of paid work and that it’s paid for itself thousands of times over in my work over the past few years. Long live ForScore.

Fabulous and at your fingertips. I love this app and use it daily for rehearsals and practise.itis so easy to use. Lately it closes without me touching it. I am not playing iTunes and it usually is the only app running. I tried shutting it. Off in the. privacy on settings. Please fix this it is the only annoying thing about this otherwise great app.

Switching pages. I wish switching pages while on half page mode would be as easy as full page. App is not cheap!

Not user friendly.. Not user friendly at all. The control panel is only sometimes available, no way to learn how to use it as I can’t get to any settings panel. Which means I also can’t cancel a subscription or deal with deleting an account. Frustrating.

Super app. Pro ou pas, c’est un incontournable! Tu veux annoter des pdf facilement et les c’asser facilement, les exporter et inporter facilement!! C’est la meilleur app!

App crashes. Keeps crashing while I write music with the Apple Pencil…very frustrating. In use IPadOS 15 and got the latest update for ForScore

Not reliable. Do not buy this app if you have the update of iOS 14 or more as it’s not compatible with the latest version of for score. Had For Score for 2 years, it was always good until last update and now it is lagging for ever and can simply not work with it anymore. I had to buy another app to be able to work as a musician in orchestras. Cause of the lack of update from For Score, the page turns are not reliable, has at least 3 seconds delay for simple tasks as writing, zoom in and out. Over all pretty disappointed that I have to wait for an actual update to have the chance of using it again. I just cannot work with it anymore.

Annotations erase out of nowhere. I really like this app as it is quite easy to use. The only problem I have with it is when it erases hours of work annotating scores. This has happened to me twice in the past two days where I have annotated a full pages work and it completely erased itself and there is no apparent way for me to get my work back. Very deceiving… Please do something to fix this !

forScore and poor vision. I have just started learning forScore, the reason being, my vision is currently very poor following eye surgery and I wanted a way to make musical scores bigger and easy to read. So far, it looks like forScore with the lPad Pro, is going to to a great job. I am starting with photographing the page and using Darkroom. The instructions are very easy to follow, and the videos to be found on the web (Janet Lanier) are excellent.

Signes de renvois. Les signes de renvois devraient pouvoir être de différentes couleurs. Pour l’instant, la navigation qui permet de créer des « boutons » ne se fait qu’avec le mauve.

4Score App. Just getting started and learning how to use this App but for the transition from paper to electronic it is simple and easy to use and learn about.

Fix this update!. Latest update is TERRIBLE. App constantly hangs, drops pages, runs out of memory.

I used to love this app but…. I am a professional concert pianist who uses forScore on two iPads coupled together to perform with. Since I started using this app aprox. 4 years ago, when I found it to be wonderful, it has become less functional. When issues arise they take longer and longer to get fixed. But my real issue is with the suposedly "Pro" level of support that I am paying good money for. These days, when I have a problem, unless I’m really, really stuck, I don’t bother trying to contact forScore because I know I won’t get an answer. I’m still waiting for an answer to my last email sent on 2022-12-22! There is something wrong with this picture

Delighted, music on the go.. Forscore Best app ever, delighted with how easy and versatile this app is for musicians. Works with the music notes app, download and play pretty much anything , scan in your pieces and mark up your scores. Very affordable, it’s awesome!

Not very user friendly. Can’t access the main screen from my iPad when I am looking at the sheet music. Also the page turning is very awkward. Disappointed in this app.

Great app. So much easier than using paper. Easy to use and keep organized. I am a solo performer with over 400 songs on my iPad, many with backing tracks. I love this App. Rick, Ontario Canada

Ok, Could be great.. An ok basic app with missing obvious features. The simplest of them would be the ability to easily invert display settings so that black text over white background could be inverted to white text over black background. Easy auto scroll per song, programmed using the Bluetooth pedal, editable chord labels with instant transpose for guitar or other instruments (capo transpose for second guitar as an exemple). With those features, it would turn into a great app. It’s great for scores but lacking for a band setting or typical solo bar performer.

Great app, ugly logo. this app is so good but please god update the logo to something more modern I BEG YOU

Disappointing. Pretty disappointed. After reading great reviews was expecting a lot from this 25$ app… pretty underwhelming, not intuitive and lags on my brand new iPad…

Besoin d’un mode d’emploi. Pour ne pas perdre de temps inutilement et sourtout mes nouveaux scans, j’ai besoin d’un guide.

Cannot open since update. The app will not open/load anymore

Love almost everything…. But for one annoyance. I am learning guitar, and this has been fabulous for organizing all of the million things I’m picking away at. I also like the automatic tracking to help me hold myself accountable to practicing. Unfortunately the tracker stops tracking if the metronome is on screen, and it’s so discouraging to put in time on a metronome drill that I hate only to finish and realize I didn’t get credit on my dashboard!! I know it’s a tiny thing, but on the days when it’s a slog to practice it makes a difference to be able to set a target and meet it and be done…

Forscore. W app

Great!. Very good for musicians!

Love it. Great application.

Great product. I have only used this app for about a week now but all seems to be going well. I purchased it to use my new Donner page turner. This is all new to me and so far so good. I would recommend this to any musicienne or experienced if they are wanting to go digital. I am still learning some of the features but am very satisfied with my purchase.

Excellent App!. I am a music educator and love having all of my scores in one easy location. This app has everything I need; easy uploads, piano, buttons for repeats, annotations, MP3 storage in app, to name a few.

Some stuff should be simpler. I’m new to it and Can’t figure out how to close individual scores ;-\ nor how to create folders (not setlists)

Great app. I only have this app for two days. So far, it is very easy to upload my scores that are already in PDF format. Easy to organize my scores, and very easy to make annotations. I am very glad I have chosen this app. I thought I had to configure my AirTurn Ped Pro2 to work with it. It turns out as soon as the app is opened the Ped Pro 2 can turn pages. It cannot be more simple than that. I will try additional features in coming days. For now I only have a simple need and this app does everything I want. Thank you.

Great. My life would be a whole lot harder without this app. Best $30 I've ever spent.

Really Great Sheets App. I have been really enjoying this app to keep all of my sheets together as well as digital theory books or anything music. I originally refunded the app but gave it another try and I am glad I did. The layout is a bit hard to get used to although after you realize how it works it is very powerful. There are many ways to organize your sheets and also adding the same pdf to multiple folders. You can annotate with layers which is very helpful. Sync works great so all files are on each Mac, ipad or iPhone. Some reviewers mentioned losing their annotations from the updates. I was worried about that but ForScore has 2 backup options from the apps — you can download a backup of your settings and annotations OR a full backup with all files and settings. Then on the mac there is a backup/restore utility from the ForScore website so you can restore older backups. Make sure you generate your own backups or export important annotations since anything can happen. Definitely worth the money and way better than a PDF viewer. Thanks for making it!

Hands down the greatest app. If you are a musician, and you don't have this app, you are doing yourself a disservice. Incredible support, amazingly stable...honestly the greatest iPad app I continue to use.

Won’t Play Audio. This has been my go-to app for gigs and practicing for a decade. For some reason it no longer plays songs from iTunes/Apple Music which is a shame because having the charts and music together in one app was amazing. I also used the loop, tempo change and transpose functions a lot- none of it works anymore. Not sure if it’s Apple’s fault or the app developers but either way it is not nearly the useful tool it used to be. Please fix it! Used to give this app 5 stars.

L’application par excellence pour les musiciens.. Classements des partitions possibles selon plusieurs différents paramètres. Plusieurs outils et fonctionnalités extrêmement utiles.

Review. Having problems at first to understand this application. Starting to realize that I must go step by step. On a regular basis. Hope to write back when I have it under control. Thank you.

Nice. Nice

Awesome - so much easier than 3 ring binders. I love this app. So happy to do away with lugging around a heavy backpack with my 3 ring binders full of sheet music. Also, no more being behind in filing the music back into the binders. Can always find what I need. No more accidentally misfiling and unable to find a song. Binders kept getting fuller and harder to get the music back in and out. Now I only have to carry my iPad. And heaven forbid if a binder should happen to fall on the floor. This app is easy to use. Plus I can mark up my music with ease. And make changes as needed. This app is a “must have”.

Best sheet music app on any platform. Edit: We’ve started having major issues staying connected to each other using lead/follow in recent months. To the point I’m looking at other programs. If you’re using this just for yourself it’s still very good. If you want sheet music on your tablet, this is the only way to go. A few members of our praise team use this, and it's so nice for the drummer and the guitar players do not have to turn pages by themselves one of the singers turns them for everyone. Not only that, but having all of my music and notes with me at all times is so much more convenient than paper music.

Great except.... I like this app, I really do. It gets the job done in a really clean, functional manner just right. My one gripe though, is the lack of integration between devices. I use my iPad for reading at my piano of course and during performances, however most of the time that I spend out and about I don’t carry it with me. I decided to download the app on my phone, with the intent to use it to look at little riffs/chord music when I encounter pianos in the wild. However I was surprised to see that there isn’t really any native way to share the scores from my iPad with my iPhone. Quite disappointed by this. If you’re going to support the app on multiple platforms please improve integration.

The best thing to score-study with... ever!. This is without a doubt the best app to study master scores, particularly for budding composers like me. I love all of the annotation tools, the 'highlighters', the stamps, and the ruler of course. There are so many features that I keep discovering and I sink hours into this app. Props to the team for having the dedication to keep up the app that is important to so many. A few requests though, I’d like to be able to highlight parts of a score and have the ink be BEHIND the notes, rather than on top. I have another PDF app that does this and it really makes a big difference. It’s small, but it’s a better experience, rather than the highlighter making the notes seem cloudy. I’d also like to be able to have more than one Stamp or Shape down in the toolbar at a time, rather than having to fish each time I want to use a new one. Perhaps a cap of three for each. Also, Siri Shortcuts integration? 👀 Keep up the good work!

Truly Superb. Attention to detail and design are exceptional -ForScore does everything I need and is right at my fingertips, but otherwise stays completely out of my way. The constant addition of new features, while still keeping the app lightweight and backward compatible with old devices (even on my super dated iPad 2!) makes this a musician's (and cheapskate's) best friend. This app would be a steal at twice the price. I now have multiple apps by this company and will doubtlessly be getting more down the road - they deserve my dollars.

Syncing completely broken with latest version. I’ve been using this app for a long time and the sync feature between multiple iPads. But with the latest update since version 13 this is not been working and trying to get contents in between my two iPads has been near impossible. I have had to delete and re-sync many times thinking that would finally solve the issue but it just keeps coming back. I use this for tracking music lessons for my children and they have to come to me almost every single day and say that the updated music they’re supposed to be working on is not there. Please fix I am in dire need of this future and hope that you figure it out soon

Great App. Possible eraser tool glitch?. There seems to be a glitch when using the eraser tool. When I erase notes here and there, I noticed that the other notes or marks not being erased were starting to get blurry. I tried testing it with a plane paper, and it continues to happen. It can get pretty annoying when you start seeing your notes blurrier and blurrier. Hope it can be fixed in the next update. I’m using an iPad Pro 2018 and the Apple Pencil 2nd gen. Other than that, everything seems to work ok. I love this app, but please check if this is an issue with other users.

Well worth the money!. I have never rated an app before this one but that’s because I’ve never been so impressed with one before. They have thought of everything! No more heavy, unorganized binders. This app puts all of my music at my fingertips in alphabetical order. I love that I have the ability to create a set and arrange them in any order I want to. Being able to make typed or written notes or markings anywhere on the page helps keep my music neat and clean. There is even a whiteout feature. This was definitely money well spent.

HORRIBLE after update. After the March update, this app is total junk and is dangerous to use at concerts and rehearsals. Two pages turned at once (for some reason, *always* the last one in the piece, plus whenever else it feels like it!)… I had to make a workaround by doubling the last page, so that when it jumps a page, it still “lands” on the material I need. The marking ability has become insanely slow to kick in, and adds extra scribbles on its own volition, regardless of whether I use my finger or a Bluetooth stylus. Pieces of music don’t open… I can go on and on. My friends are posting on Facebook videos of similar ForScore fails, so it’s not just me. Everybody is leaving for better music-reading apps, which at this point are anything that is not ForScore. Complete unadulterated disaster, and no answer from customer service, to boot.

The newest version messed up the page turns.. I understand why you made the change but can you change it back or make it a choice in the settings? It messed me up a few times already. And if you could make that one change that could be welcome, that you could make an one second delay to forbid denouncing signals sent by foot pedals from accidentally turning multiple pages? MobileSheets have that function which is really nice. I’ll delete this review once you’ve roll back the page turning functions. It makes things so complicated when it doesn’t always forward to the next page when I pressed the right pedal or go back to the last page when I pressed the left one.

Frustrating non-standard interface. Basically works, but is missing the intuitive character of most iOS apps. For example, when annotating, the title of the current file is not shown, so if you have two versions and want to know which one you are editing, you have to close it and open it again. The user guide is not much help, as it gives instructions for cut/paste operations that, as it turns out after much searching, do not work with pdf files. The Apple Pencil brings up only the annotation tools, so you have to revert to finger taps to get the other tools. The list goes on. The only reason I keep using it is that there doesn’t seem to be an alternative.

It has been good until I upgraded to iOS 13. It kept crashing since I upgraded to iOS 13 which has never happened before. As a professional musician who relied on this app during performances, I’m now hesitant about using it at a performance fearing it will crash out of the blue which happens fairly often now. The dashboard also doesn’t time accurately on the pieces I have spent time on. I found that to be linked to a crash. Whenever the app crashes, I found that it also wasn’t counting the entire hour I have spent on certain score. This feature is also important to me to keep track on my practice. It was a very reliable app until now, which is sad!

Money well spent!!!. This app will literally heal your back [from carrying books]! You can organize your sheet music and change set list order quickly. I used to carry many method books and also set books, etc…but now I can carry everything in my iPad using this app. One of my fellow band members recommended it to me a year ago but I sort of ignored the recommendation…hmmm…don’t sleep on this like I did. Invest in an iPad then get this app-your life will get much better!!

Issues. This is an edited review. I had given it to stars after using this software for many years because some things were changed by the developer that didn’t make sense to me. I’m a diehard fan of the software, but if it’s not broken don’t fix it. I have a user if I tap on the right hand side for my drop-down menus and now it’s suddenly change that it’s going to remember the last thing I used then that didn’t work for me. That being said they did resolve the issue by pointing me in the right direction. Regardless if this was explained in the owners manual in my opinion it was a change that was not necessary.

Quality of the app is decreasing over time. The removal of the console feature takes away the easiest method of importing and editing data from my computer on the app. It’s worthless for me to connect to other apps to store data- this literally means I have to import data to another independent service first then connect to my iPad. Please do not add extra steps, this is a step backward. On top of this, since version 12 released, annotations become blurry when I write with an Apple Pencil. I use forScore to teach, and these problems are making my life objectively harder while I’m remotely teaching for a living in this pandemic.

Great App. It is very useful. I’m a choral singer and it’s very helpful. I only have one complaint. In a single season, I’ve accumulated many, many scores. They all land in one folder. I can’t add sub folders and put scores in them as a way to organize them. ForScore only reads from one folder. Having to scroll through hundreds of scores to find one is not fun. Also, if you are running in multiple windows, the top menu is not the same as if you’ve opened the score from the main menu and it is not as useful.

I never write reviews for APPS.. As the title of this review says, I never write reviews for APPS bought in the APP store but I have to make an exception for ForScore. This program is truly incredible. Extremely versatile and deep. As another reviewer stated, the developers thought of everything and I completely agree. It has made my life as a gigging musician immeasurably easier. I can’t imagine gigging without this program. And the more I use it, the more I actually ENJOY using it. I actually find myself LOOKING for excuses to annotate and organize my music just so I can use this program! I would easily pay at least $100 for it.

All the paper and books I’m no longer carrying around. A great way to organize a large amount of sheet music. I can turn pages with a foot pedal on longer pieces. I have pieces from daily work list, solo repertoire, duets, and my band all organized in separate folders. I know where everything is and I’m not constantly searching through folders trying to find some thing I want to work on. There is a metronome that is attached to each piece which is handy.

Great Sheet Music App - well worth it!. This app is great. It provides everything I wanted from a digital sheet music app. I actually thought to myself, I wish there was an app that easily stored and catalogued my music as well as included ways to jump to a specific page for repeats and codas. This app does that and so much more. Import PDF music from various locations. Annotate your music. Bookmark PDF books. Search by anything, including tags. Record yourself and store audio with sheet music page. Metronome. Tuner. Well worth the price.

Major big that ruined my scores. I’ve been a faithful ForScore user since 2016. Within the last month, I’ve had a major issue that has essentially ruined every score in my library. I use score layers religiously to separate my text translations, score prep, working notes, and staging notes (I’m an opera singer), and ForScore has suddenly and for seemingly no reason flattened all of those layers into a single page layer. It’s done this for every single score in my library. (And has happened more than once after creating new layers in scores that were flattened.) Hours of meticulous work to make sure my scores are well-annotated in a functional manner down the drain. I am devastated by this and am at a loss for how to move forward with this app if this is going to keep happening.

13.1 in September broke this app badly. 13.1 broke this app badly. As of 13.1.4 Layers are all messed up, a bunch of my Score layers have disappeared, and even with subscription support response time from support varies from quick to very long - or never. I would be very reluctant to recommend this to anyone in its current form. It was better before. What am I paying for? Frustration and silence, that's what I'm paying for. It's a shame, this was once the best. Haven't heard from (paid) support in days. Now, after one year with it I'm looking for alternatives that work, with a responsive dev. Haven't found one yet, so I'm stuck with this for now. EDIT - even in 13.1.6 new score multi-layer layers got flattened into single page layers.. author not responding. Deducted one star.

fore Score user. After playing multiple instruments in five different musical groups, and having to lug around about three full music binders for each group I finally had to do something. I now use my iPad matched with the fore Score application, what a relief, and it was so easy to set up (matched with a blue tooth foot pedal) I can easily play violin/trumpet/guitar twelve page music scores with ease! Easily set up lists for all of the different concert performances or gigs, and “no lugging around heavy music binders full of sheet music”!!! With a new iPad, the program transferred with no problem and transferring file is very easy!!

Great until version 14. This used to be great for organizing all my music, but since the latest big update, forScore is so buggy and slow that I don’t trust it for performances. Now page turns lag with either a tap or Bluetooth pedal, and then sometimes turns two pages. I’ve also opened up a score to find no music except my markings, until I close and reopen the app. Also when importing PDF scores, the new ‘properties’ menu only displays a couple random set lists instead of all of them like it used to. If they can fix these issues and make it more reliable I’ll continue using forScore, otherwise I’ll be looking for an alternative app.

The best app for musicians, music students, and music educators!. This app is an essential part of my workflow. As a student, I can scan in and do all my theory homework on it, and the annotation tools work great with or without an Apple Pencil. It also has excellent integration with a variety of music providers, and with the files app. In the most recent update, the have updated PDF sharing to better show what your annotated PDF will look like, which helps you see what you are sharing. Additionally, the output to TV function is unparalleled. It is very easy to mirror with AirPlay or video out to a screen, and share a piece of music with a class or seminar so everyone can follow along. It also allows you to annotate and those annotations get updated as you write them! Highly recommend this app to all music lovers, and forScore pro has lots of extras that are worth the price, but even without it, the app offers so much with the standard version.

Great app for musicians. I love how any annotations no matter the size of the zoomed in pdf will instantly adapt to resizing. Also, love the opacity setting so you can essentially cover up notes like make up on a face, then rewrite the desired note for example. Love changing the line size so that you can match score notes. And also changing the color and opacity allows you to match say pencil color if your pdf if of a penciled score. Amazingly useful and give us a digital manuscript book to write it. I think I will have blank manuscript file so I can simply load a blank sheet and write from scratch. Best value for a musician’s app.

Really user friendly.. I wish it was possible to change song keys with this app and it scrolled long songs. It is easy to write notes all over your music. If you want different keys you have to hand write them in, not difficult. You do have to manually turn pages. Another feature that would be nice if if the metronome offered more features. Like speeding up count automatically. There seems to be some other feature, but I can’t get it to work. I haven’t figured out how to use the tuner and it caused me to break a string trying. I recommend not Using it.

Amazing Software. I am an organist in multiple churches. No more books now that i have forScore. It is amazingly easy to import music. I used to carry many binders or pull sheets from books and create a small binder to use in church. Now, i carry my IPad Pro loaded with hundreds of songs, create a set list for different masses at different churches. Thank you God for the developers! I have told musicians everywhere i go and have helped a number get ForScore and loaded sheet music. Now many of my friends have ForScore and are enjoying the benefits of this awesome Application.

Powerful versatile sheet music viewer & utility. This is a “Swiss army knife” tool for musicians, a great program constantly updated with new features and capabilities. Ingenious user interface. Extensive user manual PDF and online help. Many tools built in. This is a super PDF and document viewer. I create PDFs using Finale desktop sheet music editor. I also use a scanner and PDFILL to create arrangements in books in ForScore library of my files. I create bookmarks into my files for songs, which are treated just like documents. Then I create set lists for gigs and parties. I also put manuals for my synthesizers using bookmarks into big PDF manual pages so I can reference sections. And you can link ForScore apps on several iPads so that one person can turn pages for all and use midi pedals to turn pages although I haven’t tried this. GREAT USER INTERFACE! Multiple tabs. Handles repeats. Annotate scores. You simply have to try this. These guys deserve to be showered with money.

ForScore. I like how Forscore works. It’s easy to take pictures of the music to enter it into the iPad. I like the music sets so you can go from one song to the next one. I didn’t give it five stars because if you accidentally tap the ipad with the wrong touch, and it is easy to do, a different tool bar can show up and you won’t be able to turn the page because of it. During a performance, that’s a little inconvenient. Also, I use the Airturn Bluetooth pedal. ForScore or Airturn needs to adjust the pedal touch as to not turn two pages, which happen every now and then instead of one.

Almost perfect. I never thought I would find an app that would displace my beloved Unreal Book... however ForScore offers more features and has a slight edge in the usability department. Pair that with a fairly painless learning curve and you’ve got yourself a winner. The only request I have if the ability to add an Arranger right below the Composer in the metadata and make it visible on the search bar. Like most others I’m a professional musician and play in several different bands and contexts. I have multiple versions of Jazz Standards and many times I’m pulling charts on the fly. It would be so nice to see the arranger on the search bar so I know I’m pulling the right tune. This would also free up my tags for other data filtering. Thanks

What happened- all my files are gone. ForScore had just updated to the latest version; when I opened it I discovered all my music files are gone; this is not good, up until this moment loved the app; now I’m at a gig with no music files, not good, Update- support was quick to respond which was good; gave me a bunch of troubleshooting pointers but I was not able to try them.I had a buddy with me who also had a copy of all the files on his iPad and he just shared them with me so that’s how we got through the gig. I generally love the app, is just so simple and great to use most of the time it, was just this one event that really threw me off. Would I recommend this, absolutely.

Absolutely spectacular software. For years, I had hoped that there would be a time when I could replicate the sheet music experience on a screen. Combining the large screen iPad Pro with forScore is exactly what I was hoping for. As a classical guitarist, I have a large library of music — and with this app I can bring it all with me. Also, as a conductor, this is a really impressive tool. The ability to copy and rearrange pages prevents awkward page turns, allowing me to focus more on the things that matter — my music and my musicians. Thanks for keeping this app awesome.

Perfect for serious musicians. For Score makes everything easier. Creating PDFs of various pieces of music, combining them into audition lists, reading off of PDFs with a foot page turner, studying full scores etc... the annotating is extremely easy too. Only drawback, the scanner function is very weak. I recommend using a different scanning app that does a better job, the darkroom function on For Score just looks like pictures of your score, not a real scan. Worth the 10$, actually an incredible price for the amount of use you will get!!

A Must-Have for Musicians. No other PDF reader is built nearly this well, and no other PDF app is made this specifically for musicians. Everything from the ability to have multiple versions of annotations, to integrating audio files into scores with the ability to pitch and tempo adjust, to manipulating metadata for hyper-customizable organization makes this an absolute necessity for the gigging, practicing, and performing musician. Any band director that uses an iPad for daily rehearsal and doesn’t use forScore is honestly going it wrong.

So good I want to give them more money. I first purchased forScore in 2010, nearly a decade ago. Even back then it was an awesome app. I’ve been using it constantly ever since. It’s by far the most used app on my iPad and I couldn’t imagine being without it. And in all that time, I’ve never paid another cent to the developers after the initial purchase. So if I could suggest one improvement, it would just be to give us some way to support the app’s development even after the initial purchase. I want it to be around forever, and I’m willing to pay for it! :)

Great for traveling. Beats taking a suitcase full of music for keeping up a practice routine--library in a box! 3 years of use--I use it almost daily. It's more convenient than using books and sheet music, as everything is catalogued and a finger touch away, including turning pages. Annotation is easy too, and the integrated audible/visual metronome cuts out additional steps and equipment. I scan with another app; I haven't tried scanning within the app, but it's a one-time process to scan and import. Still five stars.

Simply the best musician app. I am a musician and high school band Director. I feel that this app has changed the way I teach and run rehearsals on a daily basis. I’ve never been happy with any purchase that I made in the App Store. I have given multiple clinic sessions at our state, music educator conference on this app, and my audience is always blown away with what I do with it. I am extremely happy with the updates and use this app. Multiple hours per day as a professional teacher and also as a musician.

UPD:Missing feature: share a single page. Thank you guys for sharing the path to the workaround, but I still think that the ability to share a single page should be much more straightforward, and would encourage you guys to make it as a tap and hold or similar gesture in upcoming updates. Thank you guys, I and my colleagues have been using this app a lot. ONE MISSING FEATURE, VERY MUCH NEEDED: sharing a single page. This feature would allow to exchange markings, fingerings, bowings and other things during rehearsals and other time sensitive situations without having to duplicate the entire score. This would be much appreciated by musical society. Dr. Korepanova, concert pianist

Great App, but what happened to Browser Support?. I really love this app, as a classical pianist it has allowed me to ditch lugging around books of sheet music in favor of just my iPad and a page turning pedal. While I’ve had no problems with this app and have successfully used it for many gigs, I simply don’t understand why the developers got rid of the ability to add scores from a web browser. This feature was invaluable for finding scores last minute for a gig. I really don’t understand why this was removed (besides forcing people to use their store to make more money). Overall a great product, but please bring back the browser!

Great software, just don’t use the sync feature. I use this on my iPad all the time. It is so helpful to set up set lists for my weekly sessions. I tried to use it on multiple devices since it would be easier to update the Setlists from my MacBook pro or have the library on my iPhone to be able share lists on the go; unfortunately syncing is always broken and often destroys the set lists in the process. It makes the software unreliable when syncing across devices. I reached out to support a few times, but they were not able to resolve the issue. I still give it 4 stars, since it is immensely helpful on my iPad, but just don’t use the sync feature.

Don’t trust it, take my word!!. I have been using forScore for a few months now, with the intent of digitizing my scores for performance. It seemed to be working well as page turns were a breeze with my Bluetooth pedal. Additionally, all of my scores were contained in one thin device. HOWEVER, upon opening the application one day after closing it (less than 5 minutes after), forScore would not open! It kept crashing on launch. I tried all of the troubleshooting on their website, much to my disappointment. When the application finally opened, all of my scores, including performance notes and fingerings, were GONE. Extremely disappointed that all of the work that went into those socks in the last few months just disappeared. I would NOT recommend this application for any serious musicians who intend to keep any of their markings!!

Hands down, excellent. I love this app SO much. It's totally customizable to however you like to read, write, edit, and organize your music. There's no other app like it, and it's fantastic. The only reason I neglected the 5th star is because I ~really~ wish there was a way to somehow save my music to the app, in the sense that I could access my music across devices. I recently got a new iPad because my old one stopped working. To my immense sadness, It looks like all my original compositions housed on my old iPad's forScore are gone forever unless I can find other copies :'( Other than that, I highly recommend this app!

Long-Time Fan (missing one silly, for me, thing). I’ve been using this app almost as long as it’s been around and there is no better alternative for organizing mass music libraries. I’m a Pro user and have book and books and scores and scores all ready to go at the touch of a finger. I love being able to make bookmarks and setlists FROM the bookmarks on the fly. The only, silly feature I wish could be implemented is per-score right-to-left page turning, with the ability to pick which side of the screen moves forward (so you can turn left and click right), as I utilize a number of books that read in that direction. I would give the app 5 stars any day of the week, but recently I’ve been searching for this feature and will quietly hope it comes in the future. Thanks for creating an amazing way to manage your personal library in your pocket!

The reason I bought the 12.9". Never going back to paper. I am the envy of all my music friends. I always play from the score rather than a part no matter how pages (chamber music). I can annotate just like my paper-using friends. I don't have to carry 7 music books and 4 three-ring-binders to dance gigs. The only downside: scanning and indexing the ~1800 dance tunes when I first got it. But now that's done, adding emailed or handed out new music is a snap. It was definitely worth the investment ($ and time) and I'm never going back to paper.

Crashes 60% of time when using dark room function. This app is intuitive and easy to use, HOWEVER, when you are using the “dark room” function it crashes over and over and over again. For the record I have a cable high speed internet connection and the iPad I’m using is LITERALLY brand new. Once you have the music uploaded and edited this seems to be a very decent app but the issues I’ve experienced make me apprehensive about its stage performance. It’s one of the more expensive apps I’ve ever purchased and it certainly has NOT performed as such. Overall, it has been quite disappointing. Hopefully they can fix whatever is making it crash in the next update.

Excellent Program. I am a full time professional. I hold degrees in Music from UB and Performing Arts. I work in a variety of settings from classical guitar, to wedding band, to blues band. I’m so relieved to have my entire library of charts available in one device. The only draw back is the iPad over heats in direct sun. If you’re a pro player you know that playing gigs in full sun is an unfortunate reality. I’ve also loaded a few sheet of blank staff paper into Forscore, and have written charts on the fly directly in the ap. They came out clean.

Music Perfection. I am so excited to have simplified, clean worksheets to use while playing. This not only gives me confidence ... it enhances my organization to a level I never imagined possible. I am proud of my organized & simplified method of music delivery. I do have one request though ... as one of the annotations ... could we possibly have a chord stamp? This would allow me to refresh my memory of certain rarely used chords. That alone is another stress reliever while playing ... plus it helps burn the chord mentality into my mind by physically seeing it & associating it for future use. This would not have to be the actual chord ... just the stamp & I can fill in the dots 🙂

Recent update brings awful performance issues. I use ForScore for teaching choir and the latest update has made this a living nightmare. Controls lock up frequently losing control of the app, freezes and crashes. It’s incredibly difficult trying to teach parts on loop when the app just refuses to respond and won’t respond until literally 5 seconds later. Even wiping everything and reinstalling the app it still has the horrible issues. Valuable class time is being wasted fighting with the app now that worked perfectly fine for over six months.

Best music score reader. This one pretty much does whatever you would want… set lists, rearrangements, double pages, single pages, automatic page changes with metronome, page offsets. The only thing missing is the ability to do full score back ups over Dropbox or iCloud. Also text search, but I think that's being added now. But overall it's an embarrassment of features only some of which I've mentioned here. Because of ForeScore I almost never read from paper music books anymore.

Classical Pianist. Beyond the obvious advantages of ease of storage, mobility and page turning (I have over 300 scores at my fingertips) the new 12.1 version is a major improvement. I can now quickly back up in archive the entire app plus all my manuscripts on the cloud. I can download every score with all the notations and crops with one click. This is a major comfort given all the hours of work. Also the crop function to accurately fit the score to my iPad has been improved so work in cropping a new score goes a lot faster and more efficiently. I have used forScorefor 8 years.
