Doesn’t work and poor customer service. This year’s experience is very disappointing compared to previous years. It is not possible to comment on the calendar because I have not been able to access and the customer service is either unresponsive or unhelpful. Quite frustrating.

Worst ever?. Overloaded with too many daily videos that never open. Sick of looking at twirling circles that never open no matter how you. Tsp. Too much packed in this version and app that was to fix bugs never helped. Big waste of money and time. 👎

A Christmas Tradition. Our family loves the advent calendar and this year’s is a wonderful delight taking us back to Edwardian days.

Disappointment vs other years. I have looked forward to this advent calendar for the past 5 years. Honestly, there were many key components I missed this year—the snowman, outside tree lights and other features (store displays, light poles) that changed when you touched them and the interactive nature of the scene in general. I loved the year we found the gnomes, and then they turned up on the game room bookshelf and sing Merry Christmas on the 25th. Perhaps if the animals we find each day had culminated in an outside parade?? Fingers crossed for next year?!?

The music is so beautiful!!. I’ve been doing this advent calendar for the past 3 years and it’s so much fun! The music is absolutely beautiful!!

Terrible. The calendar is beautiful with a lot of fun surprises. There are too many issues. I cannot access many items and have to keep deleting and reinstalling the app. Then I lose everything. Today, reinstalling won’t even work. It’s very frustrating. I would like my money back honestly.

Subpar compared to previous years. This years felt like an old recycled version from 10 years ago. Been a happy customer for many years - not sure why they downgraded the interactions so much.

Season Favorite. Every year my friend’s mom gifts me this, and I cannot wait for Dec. 1st to arrive! I want to crawl inside Lawson’s worlds.

Marble game not working.. I’m doing exactly what the instructions are saying, I.e. tapping a marble and move it over a next marble (diagonally only)….except, the moved-over marble is not removed from the board. Help, please.

Such a beautiful advent calendar. I’ve done these calendars for 3 years now and they are so much fun! There is so much content! Recipes, decorating your house on the app, new weather each day on the scene, puzzles, videos, and this year a beautiful watercolor sketchbook with a new animal search each day. I love to show the videos to my kids too!

So disappointed. I’ve had a Jacquie Lawson Advent calendar since 2013; it has one of my favorite Christmas traditions but not this year. This year’s calendar has no interactive community so is very boring and the videos were substandard. The one video that promised a festive holiday ball only showed generic figures entering the house — no actual ball! Next year I will preview the calendar before purchasing it.

Meh. Huge fan of the advent calendars. Absolutely adored Sussex 2022- Just the right blend of quaint village, tons of fun games, and whimsy. This one is a little boring for me. Beautiful music, games etc but just feels stuffy. If it was the first one I ever did I’d probably love it but was spoiled by last year’s. Didn’t love London 2021 either- was a little too modern. . Adored Nordic 2020 and that’s what got me hooked. Hope next year they do another village theme - part of the fun is being immersed and exploring a fantasy world.

Warming to it. I so loved last year’s Advent calendar, and I was excited for this year’s. The first few days I was sad, as it didn’t seem to live up to last year’s. But as the month went on,I warmed to it —to the point that I am really sad that Advent has now ended. By the end, I would place this right up there with last year’s. (But please bring back the zany find-a-gnome daily activity!)

Your Advent Calendars are fun all year long. I'm 'one of those' who keeps enjoying all your Advent Calendars throughout the year... I have purchased 5 so far. I just tried the Glogg recipe for mulled wine and it was amazing! The 2023 Edwardian Calendar was especially wonderful in that my 'sitting room' had every possible game, puzzle, and fun thing to do all crammed into one space. I can hardly wait for this year's calendar! 📆 🤩

Won’t work. I’ve been buying these calendars for years and loving them. This year the first couple of days worked, then not only did it quit working but it keeps asking for payment that I’ve already done. My sister is having the same problem. I contacted them for a live chat and no one ever answered. Then, I sent them an email that no one has bothered to answer. I won’t buy ever again.

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. The time that was put into this interactive advent calendar is amazing! I am so glad I purchased this! It’s got so much joy that I need right now! Thank you for this little bit of positivity. Everyday so far I get excited to see what’s next to open! Happy Christmas xxx

Doesn’t work can’t get help. App doesn’t let me sign in to access the calendar I received as a gift. Been over a week and I can’t get any help through their customer service. Terrible service

Still love it but…... I still love this particular brand of advent calendar but when advertises what we can do based based on illustrations & doesn’t deliver its a bit dishonest for example today it shows we can design our own tapestry and we look to see how it works and it doesn’t deliver the promise that we can create own that’s as it shows in the illustration on the website that’s definitely misleading although the app is beautifully Illustrated it is a bit disappointing in conclusion make that promise that the app will do as implied regardless of the device we use

LIVE LAUGH LOVE THIS. I’ve had a JL advent calendar for so many years (I don’t remember the last time I didn’t have one) they are so much fun and I totally recommend!

My FAVOURITE Advent calendar!. I had this app for about 5 years and this years theme is Edwardian. It looks amazing and I’m loving every minute. The attention detail is awesome and very entertaining. I decorated my tree, designed my drawing room, played games, puzzles and flower arrangements . It’s only day 3 and can’t wait to do the rest.

Wholesome and beautiful. So few things really exceed expectations the way this advent calendar does. I really love how immersive it feels opening the app every day to see what’s new. It’s nice also to just hang out in the house and listen to the music or redecorate something or play one of the many relaxing games. The art is so gorgeous and the stories are so sweet and wholesome. I recommend it everywhere I go.

Hours of delight. This was simply everything special and fun one could hope for. The details were so good, and the variety of activities was unreal. I know I won’t be able to find this kind of satisfaction from an advent again, which is the only bad thing about it. BRAVO Jacquie

2023 awful!. I used this last year and it was wonderful. This year it locked up on day four. I have tried everything suggested. I have emailed the company, but have yet to hear back. It is of no use to me at this point.

Great but a few issues. I love this advent calendar. however it has been a few problems for instance the solitaire games do not work at all and there are like 3 of them, also there are so many puzzles and they are not very fun

Beautiful, British, Wintery, not very advent or engaging. No magic to this one, and very, very little holiday spirit. The scene is artistic but not engaging. The animals you find every day are beautifully drawn but not “holiday.” Hope it’s more Fezziwig and less Scrooge next year. Love it for the graphics but with no shops it’s overall cold and stoic. (Edwardian shops started the holiday store window decorations.) This one (to paraphrase CS Lewis) is winter with very little Christmas.

Disappointing, boring,not worth the $$$ DOWNGRADED REVIEW. Downgraded my assessment now that we’re nearly halfway through. If I could have given it zero stars I would have. Way too many videos that can best be described as “ok” but very juvenile. Everyone I purchased gift copies for have been complaining about this year’s calendar. I told them to go to the App Store & give them an honest review. Unless they go back to something more detailed, creative & fun I won’t be buying them for myself or as gifts in the future. NOTE: Every other time I’ve written a review, which has been rarely, I’ve gotten a developer’s response - not from this company so not holding out a lot of hope that they’re paying attention or care. Original review: The last really fun one was the Nordic one with the gnomes. Each year since they gotten less enjoyable with more videos to watch & less fun things to do. This year’s “main” scene is almost entirely a bunch of trees where you’re to look for a new animal or bird every day. The graphics aren’t as good & already too many videos instead of fun things to do. The flower arrangement thing was just frustrating. I’ve bought this not just for myself but as gifts too for years & this year everyone is disappointed. I’m not sure I’ll buy these in the future.

Not as fun. Not as fun as the last two years. I’ll probably still buy it, but I hope it improves.

This one doesn’t work!. I bought it for myself and for 3 friends. One friend wrote in immediately, looking for help to get it to work (so far, no luck). Mine stopped working on Dec. 4. Very disappointing! Not like this is the first year JL has had advent calendars.

Loved it.. This is my second advent calendar and I really enjoyed it. I loved finding the daily animals hidden. The games were fun, but I had a lot of trouble with the marble game. I’m sad that it has come to and end, but I will continue playing it.

Stunning and cozy. No idea what anybody is complaining about. The art is so lovely & i keep coming back to everything even days after Christmas.

Expensive, but 1000% worth it!. $8 is a bit steep for an advent calendar app, but what you get definitely justifies that price tag! This is one of the most beautiful and well thought out apps I’ve ever seen in the App Store. It’s easy to see that an insane amount of effort was put into it: for the art, the music, the mini games, the level of customization, the history, and so on. There’s so much to do and it really helps me put aside the concerns of the day and get into the Christmas spirit for as long as I’m using the app. This app is in another stratosphere compared to the other advent calendar apps on the App Store. Highly recommended!

Wonderful Advent Calendar. This is lovely advent calendar for all ages. Some games or activities need a little more skill and time to do them properly but really anyone can do it. This app is visually very appealing and almost puts you at peace when interacting with it. I enjoy it every year. Some may enjoy certain years more than others but the fact that they create a brand new world every year is a good thing and keeps you coming back. My 7 year old boy enjoys this app and I make him turn the music up when he is playing on it. It’s the only app he plays on that I LOVE the music. So cheery yet tranquil.

Lovely but not the best. I buy an advent calendar for myself and my friends every year. We love them, discuss them and it gets us into the festive spirit. Positives Beautiful illustration work The pets are back! Lots of games to try Lots of interesting information about Edwardian life No gnomes/elves Negatives There is a clitch in the solitaire game Not enough little surprises - finding the animals is cute (the sketchbook is gorgeous) but very easy A shame that there are not more interactive decorations in the room - I expected to be able to click on all those paintings I feel like I’m being really picky - but we have all got used to such a high standard I’m afraid and it is a purchased game.

Brings me joy. This will be my third season with this holiday count down to Christmas and it's truly delightful. Each day brings some fun, gifts even, and games to play. It brightens this time of year for me in so many ways. Thank you!

Santa drop game. I so enjoy the adventure calendar every year. This year both my husband and I have throughly been enjoying the Santa Drop game. It’s addictive! Please thank whoever created it.

It’s a stunner—best yet. It really is full of magical surprises! There is plenty to do already—puzzles and games and beautiful music! Thank you for bringing some of my old favorites back. It is lovely to hear Corelli again. I always look forward to these Advent calendars but I think 2023 is going to be extra good. Thanks again!

One of the best!. I’m 17 now and I’ve loved the Jacquie Lawson Advent calendar since I was little and my adoptive nonna gifted it to us every year! Since she couldn’t see us it was her way of being with us through December. The games are so fun, and now nostalgic, to play. My favorite is still decorating cookies! The animations are super cute and the music is nice to listen to, it definitely adds to the experience :) I hope everyone can find some winter joy out of it! Thank you developers for making a lovely game!

Disappointment compared to previous years. My mother, sister and I have been enjoying the JL advent calendars for years. This year was a disappointment, I’m very sorry to say. I did love searching for animals each day, that was enjoyable. However, if you look at the main scene - where’s Christmas? Where are the lights, decorations - any signs of the season? It was bare, cold, and actually slightly depressing. In past years there were trees with lights, wreaths, decorations, children sledding, snowmen, fireworks, Santa at Christmas and so much more. This year, nothing. Lonely (although cute) animals out in the snow. Please, less videos, more entertainment and more outdoor holiday decor and excitement next year!

Amazing! Thank you!. These are beautiful, fun, and sweet. We still play some of the games from this one even though the new one has been released! The hours of entertainment for the price is shocking. It was worth the price for the music and art alone! I read a few other reviews and the negative comments are completely unhinged. It’s tragic that people can be negative about frivolous Christmas fun.

The kitties and dog are back!. I just downloaded in the 2023 Edwardian Advent calendar. Of course it’s too early to actually activate the days. However, from what I’ve seen so far it’s gorgeous. I’ve already decorated my tree! But what I wanted to really say is that I love when developers listen and respond to comments. Last year my particular complaint was that the kittens and the dog were missing. Well, they are back this year and they move to different positions in the room, sometimes on the couch, on the floor etc.

Very cute but only a few free days. This is a very adorable and interactive advent calendar. However, you only get the first few days for free. After that, you have to buy the app for the rest of its content for, if I remember correctly, $7.00. 😔

Still frozen. Update to my previous post. This app worked for a few days but now it’s stuck again. Very frustrating! I have iPhone iOS. What happens is you can’t close the daily reminder pop up box to actually get into the app I touch on the X in the corner and nothing happens. It’s frozen. Please fix this permanently or I will advise my friends not to buy this app next year.

Lights won’t come on. Sadly, against what people are saying, I find this Advent app terrible. The lights aren’t working in the main house making the entire scene just boring. Other buildings have lights, so I can only assume it’s a bug with the app. Very disappointed this year.

Love this calendar but…. One star for being such a B to install!!! Really! Why is it so Fn difficult to work? I pay for it and then it takes 20 minutes of emails and passwords to install it and I have a brand new iPad Air. . Last time I’m doing this. Seriously people do we need this digital crap? I thought I did but I’m done. Make it real and enjoy your family and neighbors. 2022 iPad Air for sale.

Wonderful but not the best. As easy as it can get to install. Loved finding the animals. Games are good, living room is good, decorating is good. Music (other than Sugarplum Fairy) may be as the period indicates but I don’t like it, mostly depressing. I buy these every year for family and friends. This one was the least liked due to the videos by everyone. Will still buy and give next year. Personally I liked the Christmas mart one from a few years ago the most. Thanks for not having anything horrible happen to any animals; but a child was worried about the mouse, and I was so saddened by that painting of the dog crammed in the outdoor dog house on snow. Again, maybe it fit the time and place, but here the owner would hopefully be in jail. No need to include these things.

I see quite a few positives in this calendar, including some new additions (i.e.: the train set, a tapestry, new and attractive ornaments for the Christmas trees). I am also very happy that the pets are back! (They were missed!). I do enjoy the daily animal search as well! 🦔 Plus, the artwork is as enjoyable as ever, with nice little touches like the railroad in the distance, the partridge around which a pear tree appears and so on. However, there is one aspect of this app that I really do not enjoy and the impact of it is significant: the fact that instead of featuring an array of varied and engaging activities (which the 2022 Sussex calendar did incredibly well!), this calendar has reverted back to employing an excessive number of videos as the daily feature, as it did back in 2021, with the London calendar. 👎 It is not that the videos are not well done. They are - and having a few of them interspersed among other, varied daily activities would be fine - refreshing even. However, these videos constitute the great majority of the daily activities in this advent calendar, which just makes the overall experience of using it incredibly predictable and dull. Ultimately, it greatly detracts from any sense of anticipation or discovery when revealing the current day’s “surprise” (and how can it not, when we already know ahead of time what that activity is bound to be?). Now, I am not saying that there aren’t a lot of other activities included elsewhere in the calendar, but how they are used matters. Including a lot more of the interactive activities as the featured daily surprises, instead of treating them as stand-alone activities found in our Christmas home/drawing room, would really have gone a long way to break up the monotonous and routine sensation one gets when watching an endless parade of daily videos. And why such a fixation on videos anyway, JL? Realistically speaking, how many can a user absorb before boredom and disenchantment with the whole routine set in? Personally, I find that their overuse very much detracts from what once made this calendar so special: the sense of anticipation as to what the day’s featured *activity* would be, the fun of discovering it, and then…the joy of actually doing it! Finally, in view of the fact that your advent calendars are now much more expensive than they once were, it can hardly be considered inappropriate for a user to expect more from this app than just tedious predictability!

A Christmas must have. Always amazes, I cannot think of a Christmas season without Jacquie’s calendar. It really improves the holiday spirit every day

Disappointed and not worth the money.. Every year I look forward to the Jacquie Lawson advent calendar. This year I was super excited because it is extraordinarily similar to Downton Abbey. This is a disappointing and frankly boring advent calendar. There are clitches. There is really nothing to look at outside. Nothing to explore. Very little to decorate inside and nothing to decorate at all on the outside. The animals are too easy to find. I can’t imagine purchasing the 2024 calendar. Please consider creating content worthy of your reputation.

LOVE JL. I’ve used Jacquie Lawson cards for many years and they just keep getting better and better! My friends really enjoy them as much as I enjoy sending them. But the absolute best is their Advent Calendar. I can’t believe how much I love the calendar. I look forward to it each year! Thanks Jacquie Lawson

Victorian Style. This is my first year and I must say…I am in LOVE! Everything is adorable, from the kitten to the art to the recipes. Thanks for proving such a beautiful game for the season! I’ll be back next year to purchase!

Boring. I have all of the Jacquie Lawson Advent calendars and I’m sad to say that I find this one very bland. I also purchased it to send to my youngest grandchildren - I think it will not interest them as much as last years Sussex Advent calendar would have done. Also, the animals are much too easy to find - last years gnomes were tricky little things to search out. So sorry guys, I can see a lot of work has gone into it, but it most certainly lacks the “wow” factor.

Could not download. Despite paying for these and contacting the company l could not download the calendar or games even after trying to log in. I just kept getting “trying to log you in”,. Nothing happened despite trying different ways to download. Disappointing because l enjoy the advent calendar and the games.

A little boring. It’s very well done as always but I just clicked back on the London one which was awesome, or even last year’s. The one improvement is the drawing room which is fantastic. The animals are cute but almost too tasteful? In fact the whole thing is a bit too restrained.

Got me in the Christmas spirit. I looked forward to finding the different animals and birds each day. Loved this advent. My fourth year doing these and I look forward to many more.

App doesn’t work. I have tried using this app and have not been successful. I have sent two emails for help and have not received any response. I wouldn’t waist your money on this.

Buggy.. I can’t get the calendar to work properly on my iPad. It’s full of bugs. It won’t let you use it fully unless you log on to the Jaquie Lawson site through the app, but the latter gets stuck on a loop saying “attempting to log you in…” and it never does. Hence, you cannot access the full functionality of the calendar. I hope you add a bug fix soon. This is a disaster. I have paid a lot of money to send this calendar to my whole list of family members and friends and those of them using it on a tablet or iPad are also having trouble.
