Gets too difficult to be fun. Could be a great game but some of the campaign levels get ridiculously difficult. There are some levels where the AI enemies randomly disappear and then suddenly reappear, making it impossible to defend. This is extremely frustrating and ruins the fun! I hope the developers add the option to adjust the level of difficulty. Until then 2 Stars!

A Phenomenal Port. Frozen Synapse is easily one of the best asynchronous strategy games that I've ever played, and this is a fantastic port. Nothing has been lost in the translation from the PC and playing on the iPad just feels right. The only minor nit picks I can make are that the UI is a bit cluttered and that the game doesn't make use of iOS notifications for turns. Neither flaw takes away from the game at all, however, and anyone with even a slight interest in playing an incredibly deep, well made, and polished strategy title on their iPad would be a fool to pass this over. It's the kind of game the iPad was made for.

Great game, but could be better. The story is the worst part. I generally like immersive stories, but this one had too much all at once. I was skipping over the text boxes after the third mission, once I realized that the story had no bearing on actual gameplay. I would love to see a real-world version, COD style animations and environments, but leave everything else the same. I love the over-the -top view, the controls are easy, and the actions are quick. Great game. It's like chess. And I love that. If you make another one, please give us a real-world environment. And scrap the corny, overly-detailed story. We didn't purchase this game and line your pockets to read about a highly detailed imaginary world. Kudos for trying though. It is interesting, sure. It just doesn't match the flow and pace of the game. It was so out there, so different and original, that it really does take work and effort to comprehend it all. Too immersive. But overall great work. If not for all the reading required, I would have given four stars. Five stars will be reserved for a real-world version. Preferably one unrelated in story to this one.

Awesome potential, needs refinement. The icon and graphics are disgustingly non-retina ugly (which is shocking given that only retina devices exist anymore!), the tutorials are confusing and not interactive, and there's no Game Center support. For $6.99, I really expect much more than this. And I'm also expecting that the Red expansion pack will be added in, and will not be an in-app purchase. By iOS standards, this game is very expensive and doesn't seem worth the price at this stage in development.

Fabulous Port. Got this near release on PC, and it was one of best strategy games I'd ever played. On iPad, it is still just as ingenuitive and brilliant as ever, with touch control making controlling your little shapeforms much quicker and easier.

Yay, finally here.. Was excited to see this on the App Store. I love this game, it is challenging at times, but I like it. Can't wait for the expansion red. :) Edit: Hey, just wanted to say, if you own the red dlc on PC or Mac and use that account on the iPad version, it gives you the red dlc on here. I now have co-op and the new campaign. :D Hope that this information will make you all happy.

I've been looking forward to this. Great game - previously owned on PC, and now enjoying it on my iPad. I've already played a few games and haven't noticed anything I could complain about. In the future, it would be nice if they integrated some of Apples APIs such as notification center for new turns.

Love the game hate the server.... By far one if the best games I've come across on iOS. I didn't play the game before I got it for my iPad and yes at first it is difficult to get the hang of but after a few matches it makes more sense. This is the perfect example of a game I don't mind paying seven dollars for. No pay to play BS just pure satisfaction! The only issue is the server!!!!!! Fix it!!!!!

GREAT Game!. This is an awesome game. Epic artwork, but there it one thing I would improve about it: the tutorials. I figured out how to play relatively quickly, but I doubt the same can be said for others. Maybe if they were more interactive, they would be easier to understand. Keep up the great work and keep the updates coming!

Great on Steam, even better on iOS. Frozen Synapse is strategy at its best, and having it on iPad with a touch interface and Push Notifications makes it perfect. I highly recommend this game!

Please FIx the RED campaign CRASH. Every time I select red campaign now the game immediately crashes on the iPad 2017. Can you please fix this it’s been months. Unplayable. Update Oct 2023 After a year the red campaign is still unplayable. They refuse to respond to emails. No reply. Game club is a scam. Ps I paid full price for this game before game club bought it and ruined it.

Loving it. The ipad is meant for turn based tactical games, and this is by far the best and most engaging, with great options for unit movement and actions. The multiplayer is extremely well thought out as well. Fantastic job!

Amazing. Frozen synapse is an amazing and well thought out game, and the complex strategy never gets old. The only thing stopping me from giving this game 5 stars is the apparent absence an ability to change modes in skirmish and the lack of a level editor. While this normally wouldn't be a large deal, it does mention those things in the help section, which really isn't very helpful. That having been said, the rest of the game, from its incredibly well crafted and thought out plot to it's complex and addictive gameplay is worth the 13 dollars that it costs

Loved it. Me and my friend love playing the game. The amount of options in any situation is immense and there's many fun game modes and different soldiers that all have very different ways to use them. I love strategy games and even if you aren't a person who likes them, this game is definitely worth a try. The interface is very nice and is very easy to manage. I loved the vastly different ways to set up the game and configure the amount of soldiers of each type and their starting points. I wish that there was a way to edit exactly how the map was set up rather than it being random when you set it up against a specific person online, a sort of forge where you can design exactly a map. This game was very fun, I hope for future updates and I think I'm going to purchase the addon pack when it comes out.

This is the game you will be playing nonstop for the next 2 months. About a 15 minute learning curve after this you will be sucked in. Flawless port - I actually prefer the touch interface. Deep strategy, infinite replayability. Support these devs... They don't make 'em like this anymore

Holy Moley!. I own the PC version, got this expecting it to be "all right" it's freaked the same game with touch! Freaking awesome! The turn based system is awesome bc I can play games with my friends like draw something except with guns!

Well-made but designed. While I found that this game had a great unified aesthetic and lore, the basic gameplay is frustrating. The squad-based tactics force you to micromanage your units, which grows tiresome quickly. Without painstaking attention to the details of the orders issued during the planning stage of your turn, the AI enemies rip you to shreds. There is a great concept here, but the gameplay becomes demanding rather than challenging.

Kind of scummy... I’ve already bought this game years ago and now I have to pay a subscription to play it? Never seen this before ...

Amazing, but tutorial is immensely lacking. As of late, the offerings on the App Store have been immensely disappointing. I can't believe how many times I've purchased a game, loved it for five minutes, and then just never felt compelled to play again. Then this comes along. What a great freaking game. While I must admit, it needs a tutorial that the game actually walks you through, and it takes time to learn how the game works, it's still a blast and well worth the price. At first glance, it's overwhelming, but you find a way to settle into the steady, patient pace the game lays out for you. Really fun, hope in future versions the tutorial is more fleshed out. The storyline in campaign mode I found was really corny, but don't let that stop you. The gameplay is what this game delivers on in every way.

Great strategy game. I really like this game! The things I'd like to see is improved are graphics especially the text, it's sometimes hard to read and the tutorial play speed. The tutorials run way too fast, they're very hard to follow. If the game supports retina display then the font used for text could be changed. Even with the slightly hard to read text and the high speed tutorials, I still love this game.

Unexplainable. This game is unexplainably fun and offers plenty of different ways to master your strategies. I have played this almost non-stop since I noticed it was on the App Store. Please add Game Center support and please, PLEASE, add the Red DLC, to this! It looks awesome and I wanna try it.

Surprisingly fast paced and very enjoyable. I liked this game so much I also bought it on Steam for my PC. I really enjoy this game. I wonder why there aren't more strategies like this one on the App Store or on any other platform.

Best tactical shooter of all time. Frozen Synapse is a cut above the rest; a stunning game on PC and a fully-featured port on iOS. I've spent many hours enjoying Frozen Synapse, from the sizable singleplayer campaign to the pulse-pounding, deeply strategic multiplayer modes. You do NOT want to miss this fantastic experience -- do yourself a favor and pick it up at a fraction of the PC version's price!

Strategy to its fullest. If you like strategy, there is literally no game better than Frozen Synapse. Perfect for iPad but built like a full PC game this is easily the best strategy/planning game I've ever played. Own your own essentially swat team and take out the enemies... But plan for all eventualities... Because anything could go wrong with your plans. The better you get, the more fun it becomes. Plus, if you get it for PC it'll cross over and be playable on iPad too. All your games, all connected. Brilliant.

This is a lot of fun!. This is a terrific game. A great combination of action and tactics. I wasn't sure about it from the reviews, but I'm glad I bought it even though the price was steep. It has a lot of replay value for those of us who don't always want a twitchy action game. The only improvements I can think of are to allow more than 5 fighters on a team, and for additional variety in the environment generator: I see the same room layouts a lot in skirmish mode.

Best tactical game on the ipad!. I've had my ipad for some time now and have always enjoyed gaming on it. This is the first title though that's come along on the device, grab my attention and not let go! It is incredibly competitive and the complexity of the tactics require you to think out every command and will mean the difference between an incredibly satisfying victory or horrendous defeat. I've read numerous reviews about how the learning curve is too steep for new players. This is not true at all. I'm new but am near the top of the leader boards. You just have to like tactical games! ... I have noticed a few drastically negative reviews, one in particular calling the gameplay obtuse, and found a need to respond. Anyone who could describe this game in such a manner obviously couldn't be bothered with learning its depth. Everyone has a right to there own opinion of course but I would venture to call such a comment blatantly arrogant when so many others applaud the game's tactical complexity. UPDATE: Love the hi-res graphics! Unfortunately not everything has made the transition. Hopefully that is coming!

Killer App!. I have played the PC version of the game since it came out. When i learned the game will be ported to iPad, i almost immediately bought an iPad. Had to wait for several months until i actually played it in iOS and i was impressed! If u are more of a tactician than a twitch gamer, u owe it to yourself to get tis game. Trully, a killer app!

Fix graphics. Awesome game! I was very excited to see frozen synapse come out for iPad. But please, fix all the command icons. The images are considerably bigger on iPad than on PC so they are fuzzy. Just have them redrawn so the image is sharp; it will take all of two hours to fix.

And I never write reviews. Seriously, I never write reviews.. This game is amazing! Tactical, turn based strategy. I didn't find the learning curve difficult after diving in. I would recommend this to ANYONE who loves games that need some thought. Love it.

Impossible and expensive 👎😡. This game is obviously designed for fans of some previous title on a PC. For a casual game it is extremely tough to get into, and when you get to the first level with enemy rocket launchers, it becomes impossible to continue. I've tried every tactic I can think of to progress and have now given up. Enemies can cycle their weapons faster than you, and can disappear and reappear seemingly randomly (ie cheat). The learning curve is way too steep for a casual game, the tutorials are too fast, not interactive and don't really describe how to play. Unlike others here, I don't think $7 is cheap. In fact it's an expensive mistake.

Frozen Synapse on iPad?! Must Have NOW!!. When I heard that FS had made the jump from PC to iPad I rushed to the App Store to get it. Looking forward to explaining to my husband why nothing is getting done this weekend. Thanks Mode7! I've been looking forward to this for a long time.

Very good. Much better then a straight PC port. You can tell a lot of time went into tweaking the interface to work nicely on a tablet. Great game to pick up and play a few turns through when time allows.

Fun but hard.. This game is really fun but at the same time it's extremely hard at first and its a little confusing but I have been having a great time playing it so far. I think I will be buying the expansion when it comes out.

Great but could be better. Overall this is a great strategy game that I can easily spend countless hours on in one sitting. I personally enjoy the hotseat feature where I can play with my friends or even by myself to test out different strategies. My only concern is that you should allow the hotseat mode's advanced setup to use seeds to generate previous maps that I tweaked in the skirmish generator or allow the skirmish generator mode to allow hotseat playability. (Also you guys should take off the 5v5 limit on the skirmish generator because I loaded a hotseat match before with about 12 men on each side and it played smoothly with no lag. I don't know if this is the same case for other devices (I have the Ipad 3) but it would be a nice feature to add)

Excited!. I've yet to buy this magnificent game for iOS but I currently own it for PC and I can't think of a turn-based strategy that I like better than this wonderful game. If this is as well built as the PC version then everyone is in for a treat. Buy this game! Throw your money at Mode 7 for making such a beautiful world with flawless AI, rich story line, and ,most of all, such addictive gameplay. Sure you can take your time and play a turn here or there, but I can hardly wait to take another turn. The gameplay is so intense and entertaining. On top of all that, it's cheap to. Think about it. This game is about the same price as a burger and a drink at the nearest fast food dinner. That's such a small asking price to ask for so much content and playability. Read For Information. People need to stop whining and exaggerating that this is so hard I can't even kill one red guy.. The game comes with tutorial videos that are helpful to others.. I'm 12 and had a victory the first match, I saw the tutorials and understood the point of the game, make wise decisions and plans. Recommend this to strategic gamers or people that like these types of games, oh and BTW it does involve shooting if you didn't know

Won’t work; IN GAME Action menu; dragged down. The game won’t let me use the action buttons at the bottom of the screen; it seems the menu for the actions in game is dragged down, not letting me access the PRIME, action; I can press delete; but I can barely see the button. Too bad you have to have a monthly subscription. I bought this game on steam when it first released there many years ago on my PC. Since then I no longer have a pc and was thrilled to be able to buy it on iOS, but the thrill was quickly erased when I found out that you have to have a monthly subscription to play it, and you can’t just pay once to get it. You play turn by turn as you try to kill targets, rescue ppl, reach goals etc, but you only see what the units see as they see it. So it’s kinda like a turn based FPS. With different weapons and equipment (if I remember correctly), and people, to customize as you progress. If memory serves me correctly the soundtrack is pretty decent too for the game. If you like good thinking and precise action strategy type games you will love it, as long as you also like a little parasite(aka subscription) eating slowly away at your money. It’s a shame too, cuz this was a great game I wouldn’t have even thought twice about having to buy it again for my phone after already buying it on my old pc. I don’t get why they can’t have a subscription to their library of all their games for ppl who want to do that, but also have an option for ppl who want to just buy individual games and pay once for each game, oh well, their loss.

Good, however:. This game is really wonderful and takes well to the touch controls. But, I can't bring myself to give the full sweep of 5 stars though. On the surface the game would really look wonderful with retina support. While I understand that graphics aren't the primary focus, it would really seal the deal. This really only accounts for maybe 1/2 star. The rest comes to features that I can only hope are already in the pipeline. Push Notifications, Game Center support, and an interactive tutorial. Push would bring this game into the present. Notifying people via email makes sense for the PC platform, however in today's turn by turn world having to check and sift through email for a friends request isn't acceptable. When it comes to the tutorial, this game definitely supplies resources. However many of the videos are so quick they hardly show off situations or reasons that some of the commands exist. All in all, a good experience. Simply be prepared for a steep learning curve and the feel of ported game.

Great port. I love how simple the interface is for touchscreen, and being able to play with PC players is great, I've always loved this game, having it on iPad is just a bonus. My only problem is that the replay button doesn't always work.

Fantastic. Highly strategic gameplay, a great soundtrack, and a thrilling storyline all help make this a fantastic game. The campaign is long too, so between that and multiplayer you'll definitely get your money's worth.

Very faithful port. Amazing game that is faithfully ported from the PC. You should be warned that this game is a challenge... It will take time to learn the interface and controls and the tutorials are not interactive, which is a big problem for many. This game requires you to think quite a bit, it's not an action game. The graphics are spartan but I like the style and atmosphere. Complex and hardcore are two words I'd use to describe this game, and if that scares you, I'd stay away. For those coming from the PC version, the iPad version doesn't support iOS standards like notifications. The PC version used email to notify you of turns but that's a little antiquated. Also it would be great if gamecenter could be patched in. I know that the server and player ids are based on a completely different system, but a lot of iOS players will be confused about matchmaking and hooking up with friends online. Finally graphically, sometimes I wish that some of the interface elements were a bit sharper. Despite these nitpicks, even if you never touch multiplayer the game has tons of skirmish modes and a full story campaign. Once you learn the interface controlling your team is easy: you can make broad strokes or micromanage every tiny movement... which can mean the difference between life and death sometimes! Great music, quick loading and booting, snappy interface. Highly recommended game!

A lot of fun.. Reminds me of old school Rainbow 6 where you detailed each units movement, to the letter. It is rather amazing. I have had lots of fun with this game. Most games of this caliber require turn-based strategy. But here, both teams play out their movements at the same time which requires an extra bit of strategy that is amazing. Your smallest mistake could mean the entire battlefield is compromised, there are a lot of stakes riding on. Your choices... Which means a Lot of thought has to go into your choices.. It's pretty awesome!

Utterly Fantastic. This is one of the best turn-based games I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. It's aesthetically pleasing, it's intense, it forces you to use your mind, and it's a genuinely fantastic experience. Although this isn't my first time playing this game, as I have it on Steam, it still manages to keep me encapsulated in it's unique gameplay style for hours on end. And for a price like $6.99, how could you go wrong?

To those who think the game is "cheating".... There is an in-game mode called "dark" This mode means you can't see the opponent's units until they are in your line of sight, and vice-versa If you don't take the time to read what the game tells you, don't write a review

Amazingly Difficult. I've played two matches in this game so far and I absolutely love how intricate each match is. Think chess times 50 and you have frozen synapse. You have to be aware the various possible moves of the computer and plan accordingly since you must plan the next five seconds every round. I haven't been able to do much to combat the enemy so far since I'm still learning but I can't wait to become better, convince my friends to buy this, then challenge them online. If you like chess or strategy games, you shouldn't think twice about buying this. Just remember that this is extremely difficult to learn to successfully combat the enemy starting out. Excellent!. If you're familiar with the PC version then this is exactly what you think it is. It even has cross platform multiplayer. If you haven't played the PC version then you're missing out and this is your chance. Buy it! Great game.

What a treat. This is a fantastic game ported from the PC, and is even better with touch controls on the iPad. The online component is by far my favorite part of the game. It appears deceptively simple on the suffice, but this game has amazing depth. Competitive gameplay with others will have you spending enormous amounts of time planning, and ultimately second guessing your moves. The games are intense. The sound track for this game is also a winner.

One of the greatest tactical games ever; but ipad interface could be better. Frozen Synapse is one of the most satisfying strategy/tactical games ever made, with an absolutely genius design. Turns resolve simultaneously - and there's nothing more satisfying than correctly deducing what your opponent will do and successfully countering it. Only drawback on the iPhone version is slightly fiddly controls. I don't know why the units don't have the same little icons above them as on the PC for aiming etc. Not quite as elegant. But still brilliant. Oh, did I mention the cross-platform play? Start a match on PC and finish on ipad and vice versa. Pity we don't see more of that.

There's nothing else like it. This is brilliant multiplayer strategy (with good AI and a single player campaign too if you're interested). The turn-based planning, real-time outcome is just amazing. Well worth it.

A deep multiplayer competitive game you can play in bed. Let's be clear - this is no casual game. Turns need to be carefully planned and considered, doing your best to cover all the possible moves your enemy may make. Time isn't against you in this game, just your ability to think of a good move. Think of it as something great if you like strategy games, without the stress of real-time play. The interface is easy to use for all the different commands available; I even prefer it slightly over the PC version in most situations. (Sometimes the PC comes out on top; the mouse both helps and hinders, just as the touchscreen helps and hinders) This is definitely a game to play online against people. Playing against the computer is fun, but by the end of the campaign you'll know how the AI thinks. People are random, people are crazy, you think your enemy would be mad to make a certain move so you make a plan that doesn't consider that possibility, then they make that crazy move and BAM it's over for you.

Please fix. This app worked once, then never again, just get a blue screen, not good enough for a more expensive paid app, please fix

Brilliance. The first truly mentally challenging game on the iPad. Complicated, yes - but those willing to learn the game will find a deep, unforgiving and ultimately rewarding experience.

Rubbish. Overly technical. Complex interface makes it as slow as a wet week and about as much fun. Awful.

oh man!. i was just talking with a friend about how cool this game would be for iPad. Its a lot of fun multiplayer and the soundtrack is great. definitely worth picking up.

Different Hights. You should have ground of different heights and the ability to chose your colour but other wise awesome game!

Great Tactical Game. You can spend hours planning your moves and that of your opponent.. Very easy to use interface

Bluetooth. Great game. The only drawback is that there isn't any bluetooth multiplayer.

A brilliant port, and a fantastic game!. Imagine if chess pieces had guns and each turn you had to play a hand of poker. Bluffing. Tactics. Fun. 3 words that spring to mind when playing Frozen Synapse. This game has had me addicted to it for days since its release on the ipad and is a fantastic addition to my game collection. The initial vast amount of options may sway some away from the game, after viewing all the tutorials and having a few games with the AI I was ready for multiplayer. Bluffing enemies is a massive part of this game, which makes it all the more enjoyable when you look back at the replay of the match post-game. Thinking about where the 'enemy' might be moving, where I should be moving, and if I should shoot a rocket at that wall in front of me is possibly the simplest explanation into what this game is about, but makes up the basic principles. All in all this is a 5/5 game for me, and if you can survive the initial hurdle of understanding the gameplay, you'll be well on your way up the leader boards and to a game full of entertainment.

An excellent conversion to iPad. This game is brilliant! The port to iPad is intuitive and it is great that you can cross play with PC. If you enjoy turn based strategy then you should definitely give this game a go.

Needs improvement. The bad. It is a bit confusing when first starting up as no intro/ tutorial is offered only poorly designed video tutorials. The campaign is extremely boring, no one bothered to write a proper story for it. The good. On the plus side the combat is fun and engaging but only once you finally understand how all the many buttons work. I assume most of these 5 star reviews are from people who have previously played the PC version.

A masterpiece. One of the finest tactical games in history, on a device perfect for it. Truly a five-star game that should be in any strategy gamer's collection.

Unique, tactical fun. I enjoyed the storyline/scenarios. I liked that I can play at my own pace, I'm able to shape my own tactical responses and if I decide to leave the game I can come back to decide the next action. I would encourage more to try this out

Crashes on startup. Got to about the third tutorial mission and started crashing instantly on startup. Unplayable. Tried remove and reinstall, no luck. Emailed support ... Not good for $7 app :(

Won't even start. I paid $6.99 for this game and all I can see is the nice icon!!! I click on it and it goes to the title page and then to a black screen! GREAT GAME! For $6.99 there should not be any glitches at all with any games! If you are the creator of this game, then please get a fix out there now, so that I can play this thing!!!

Needs shallower learning curve. I've never heard of this game before, but as a fan of Xcom games I gave it a try. I was disappointed that the tutorials are just videos, and they go by so fast. I've tried the game now for about 5 levels, and I can feel the potential, and I think this is probably an excellent game, but they really need some tutorial levels for beginners that show you what all of the buttons and functions actually do in scenarios. As it is right now, it's just trial and error, with a lot of trial, and too much error. I'm not to excited about playing it further as after 5 levels I still have not touched half of the options on the screen, because I have no idea what they do. So maybe I'm missing out on stuff. Probably. Maybe just need to put more time into it, but I feel again that with a tutorial level or two I wouldn't have to try and guess at what does what.

Frozen Synapse. Fantastically tactical. PROS: Simple user interface. Graphical representation is spot on, the game is about urban combat tactics, not eye candy, SO refreshing. Awesome tactical game. If you've played the pc version of this, you can expect the same quality of game. Skirmish mode allows this game to alway offer a fresh experience. I was a bit annoyed at the idea of buying this twice (pc and ios) but no regrets, totally worth it.

Amazing. This is what I call a strategy game. Deep, in depth mechanics that take 10 minutes to learn and a long time to master. It truly makes you feel like you are in control.

Hard game.. I find this game is too hard and the controls are very complex, not even to mention that the tutorials are videos. I need a hands-on way to learn how to fully enjoy this game. But the graphics and physics are really good!

Retina-capable as of version 1.1. The recent 1.1 update added retina support, which is fantastic. The game looks phenomenal on iPad 4. However, with this comes a two main drawbacks: 1. Certain UI elements need high-resolution icons, such as the icons for the unit type and buttons; more importantly, 2. Because there are 4x the pixels to render onto, the game suffers from some stuttering and isn't as smooth as 1.0. Nevertheless, Red DLC works and plays just fine (originally purchased on PC) and the game still plays very well.

Bugs. It's a great game, but I've come across a bug that severely alters game play. Killed units will suddenly reappear on my team, and units on the other team suddenly die for no reason. It's a nice tradeoff, but it's no fun to win by cheating!

BRILLIANT. Maybe the best strategy game and one of the best overall games on the App Store! The online components that make up the multiplayer matchmaking/lobby/menu--along with handling both synchronous and asynchronous gameplay in a unique manner to iOS-- make this a fantastic experience. Best strategy game in the App Store. The is the game strategy game I have played in the App Store. It is complex and really makes you think. A must buy for any strategy fan.

Very confusing, profoundly difficult, useless tutorial. This game is clearly geared towards people already very familiar and experienced with the desktop version. Don't bother unless you're a hardcore veteran of this game on the desktop already.

Excellent implentation. A pitch perfect recreation of the PC game. Cross platform play and being able to start a game on one version and continue it on another is very cool.

Walls are made of paper. There is nothing strategic you can do to overcome the physical law defying attributes of this game. It's stuff like this that always make me cringe when I press "buy" on the App Store. If you do the the same and buy this fantasy, your money is just gone.

Love it. Absolutely fantastic. I played Frozen Synapse on Steam where it's a decent bit more expensive, and always hoped that they'd bring it to iPad so I could justify buying it a second time.

Good, but i feel cheated.. Its a good game and good concept, but i spent 7 bucks on a game only to be forced into playing against unfair AI and experienced players. I'm new to the game. I dont know it very well. Yet they expect me to stand a chance against the crap they throw at me (not to mention the occasional bug). I wish i didnt spend money on this. I wouldn't have cared if it was only a dollar or two, but seven bucks for a game that obviously needs tweaking to help out the noobies, quite awful. Please listen to my advice, if you're expecting a fun strategy game DO NOT get this!

Patience and smarts required. I could never quite get there with this game. I can see how it could be enjoyable and the game is well made. However, the tutorials are bad and not helpful to the novice strategy player such as myself. I wanted to enjoy this, but simply cannot.

Arrogant Developer.. When I contacted the developer letting them know that the tutorial runs way to fast to read and comprehend everything without the ability to pause it. The developer told me that he doesn't agree!!! So I told him I'm deleting Frozen Synapse and won't be buying anything else ever from mode7games.

To all who are looking for a good strategic timewaster: this is not it. really just a crappy system that seems genuinely complex and intricate, however this game is garbage and not thought out well. five seconds of fake fun before you realize the shallow depth of real strategy involved does not accommodate for the amount of commands you can give.

Exceptional. Who knew turn based gaming could be soooooo intense. This game, you can pickup and just move one turn between meeting, or soak into for hours. It gets my heart pumping every time.

I don't get it. I love strategy games, but I can't even figure out what I'm supposed to do here. The tutorials are videos, not interactive at all. I tried watching "The Basics" and it seemed like I was already supposed to understand what the hell was going on. Very disappointed I spent so much money on this.

Emersive.. Has a great soundtrack and a long learning curve. Though, once you receive the hang of the game each mission becomes as fun as the last one. Great job, looking foward for an update.

Push notifications. This game is awesome, but they should implement push notification to know when your opponent did his move and its your turn to play.

Exceptional. I've wanted to play this on the PC for a while now but never got around to it, so I jumped at it when I saw the developers had ported it to iOS. Frozen Synapse is one of the richest strategy games I have ever played, with a unique gameplay system that doesn't seem to ever get old. The actual strategy to the game runs very deep, and combined with different game modes, randomly generated maps, and online multiplayer, the game offers an enormous amount of replayability. The vibrant soundtrack and minimalistic graphical style really add to the tactical, techno feel of the game, and the robust, cross-platform online arena system is some tasty icing on the already delicious cake. I think there could be a few minor improvements to the UI, mostly having to do with button placement. Right now on the iPad it seems like the buttons for commands are scattered a little haphazardly around the edges of the screen and in the expandable menu, and it makes things feel a little cluttered. It would be nice if there were an option for another button layout where all of the command buttons were made smaller so they could fit in two columns on each side of the screen without needing the expandable menu. Also, the placement of the sightline button is slightly confusing because it is lumped in with the command buttons with the same look, but it functions differently than the other buttons. It would be nice if the sightline functionality could be integrated into the UI without requiring a button (maybe something like touching and holding on a waypoint and then dragging out from it to see the lines of sight). Anyway, those are just a few thoughts for the developers, and are not even close to deal breakers. The bottom line: Frozen Synapse is an exquisite specimen of a game and offers tremendous value for the price. If you are even remotely interested in strategy games, do yourself a favor and try it. Also, I'm totally looking forward to the upcoming DLC.

Needs to be more intuitive. I can tell this game has great potential but it's nt at all easy to fighter out. It feels very clunky and not well put together. I'm sure it's a brilliant game once and if you commit to learning how to play and overcome the annoying controls.

Masterpiece. Best of Genre. It's the high watermark for the tactical turn-based combat genre. If this is your style of gameplay, this is your game.

Over complicated. Terrible way of implementing tutorials. This game feels way over complicated and needs a better tutorial system because of it. Make them interactive, not long, daunting videos with text that disappears in seconds.

Great strategy game. A few years ago I got the itch to find a strategy game that could rival Xcom and Maxis' Robosport from back in the day. This game is it. I'm writing my first ever App Store review to tell you that.

Over Rated. Game concept is 5 stars - the praise ends here. I love complex strategy BUT gameplay is too difficult. Enemies fire faster, farther, and seem to win every 50/50 encounter. Loading periods are quick but CONSTANT. Too may complicated, unnecessary commands....for 5 seconds of action. Clearly, the game developers are rating their own game with all of the 5 stars reviews. Why even bother with the amateurish storyline involving way too much irrelevant, sappy dialogue? Even if gameplay and story were enhanced - 7 or 8 bucks is still too much for this game. So not worth the money! Very disappointing purchase.
