Great app, poor user guide. Great app, very useful and fun, just wish there was more thought put into the user guide, would it have killed the developer to include graphics in the user guide?

Not a solid midi sync. I love this app, but the app drifts while synced to external midi clock. Please fix!

Amazing, just Needs moar cymbals!. Nothing like it on iOS. This is a great starter for ideas to build on in other apps. Just needs more bread and butter cymbal stuff . A hi hats pack would be an insta buy for me. Amazing all around though, if you need some inspiration to start some percussion, look no further.

Tnx❣️ ——- There seems to be one serious flaw...apparently you cannot manually play only and record that as every time I start, say AUM, recording DrumJam automatically starts playing. You can play alone but not play alone. That is no longer particularly useful to me anymore. ——- I can't not play DrumJam!! I love ThumbJam and I have been paying it ever since its first release. My finger will glide over to my iPad and start playing with rhythms. It's so easy to use. Incredible fun! Great sounds!

Patterns can’t be midi out, only the pads. Seems the patterns can’t be sent to midi. So that’s kind of useless. It’s nice that it sounds good. But I can’t send any of the patterns out. So I wasted a little time to make some cool kits that I thought I can general midi out but it seems not possible. I hope so proves me wrong.

Boom forget the other drum apps. Excellent app hope they give more options in next update it’s the best one so far I tried to date

Really great app, and keeps getting better. For ethnic drums and exotic jams, this is an awesome app. It's limitation is that almost everything uses preexisting loops, but it is so flexible with what you can do with them that it really doesn't matter. I have thumbjam and drumjam and I love them both. Drumjam has now evolved into a real instrument instead of just an app. There are some great ethnic drums and beats that I haven't been able to find anywhere else in the App Store. Highly recommended.

Wonderful app!. I love this app. It is useful in so many ways, with great pre-sets that are available for user modification, with many ways to engage with the app in creating new percussion patterns. It is a great tool for recording, for building chops, and for song writing. Much gratitude to the developers.

Such a great app with so much thought and care inside. You can tell the developers spent time to think through the solutions. The loops and sounds are very high quality. Tons of variety too. Such a great app for producing, performing or jamming along to. You can download your audio loops easily via a web page which is slick. Highly recommend if you are looking for traditional or eclectic percussion for your music. Can’t wait to see what they come up with next.

So much fun!. I don't usually look for apps with loops, but years after this came out I read some discussion about it, which lead me to grab it. It is so much fun, I can barely believe it. Great sounds, great grooves, and really great design! I find myself just playing with it for an hour every time I open it up. I also find it very useful for recording in all sorts of ways. It works surprisingly well for recording with the loops turned off. I've got hundreds of music-making apps, including many great ones. After a little over a year, this remains one of my very favorites!

Great fun app. This app is so much fun and limitless possibilities,it was a sleeper in my arsenal till I seen Doug review a more expensive complicated app and I went back and raised DrumJam back up wow I’m glad I did. Thank you

Easily the best. This is the only drum app of value. Unreal. With a name like drum jam my expectations were low. The tabla is so close to the real thing, my only Qualm being Na ti ni should be grouped differently with ni and ti side by side. Anyway, regardless of these details, every instrument is recorded clearly and beautifully. Some instruments a person would never have access to in the flesh (or at least not of such high quality) become playable without years of practice.

Not being generic. If you want first-class renditions of all the standard genre drums get a DR-880. This is Drumjam, it's about character and spirit and new to you beats. In Settings you can auto-randomize patterns and instruments for an hour or two to get a full taste of what Drumjam can do. The simple things, like a beat using only hihats, are straightforward and easy to tweak and setting up variations for a favored beat is likewise easy. Best drum app available.

Killer app. Very intuitive and easy to use. The samples are pristine. Latin and Indian rhythms are spot on! My favorite app thus far.

Great tool but needs updates. A great alternative to a metronome but tends to hang on newer iOS. Overdue for an update, which is a shame because this really is a very good app.

Drumjam. Is one of my top 5 apps, love it.

Takes it to the next level. Abelton Link is really starting to show its genius. Using this app linked with Gadget and Patterning with the Randomization engaged is amazing, the results are incredibly inspiring. I almost sounds like I know what I am doing. It's designed for performance. The sounds are top notch. I really think the randomization feature gives it its power. Most of the stuff I do sounds linear because the drum track is repetitive. With the randomization I can jam with the changes it sounds good enough to be in a movie soundtrack. Maybe they could have a save randomization button on the performance screen when one comes up that you really like.

Awesome. It grooves in so many ways - it fits in with almost any style of music. I really like the extensive info provided by the developer - it's educational and inspiring. Sounds fantastic in live and studio situations - always excites never disappoints! Far beyond 5 stars for sure.

Love it. Brilliant. Love how you can mix up instruments and rhythms with a single click while the loop is playing. And isolating instruments- I can learn whatever part I want easily. Fantastic. I haven’t even gotten to using the pads yet.

No midi mapping?. I am not happy about this app, I bought it thinking it would be nice for midi mapping for drums at my fingers from my mpk mini. Not the case. The drum sounds are decent though, just needs MIDI LEARN.. and get rid of the dumb backing track nonsense

IOS 14 not so good for this amazing app. After updating two of my devices to iOS 14, DrumJam won't play. You get sound from hitting the stop button and it will play a little bit if you mess around with the pads, but stops almost immediately. I know it's been a while since you updated, but I really really love this app!

So many drum apps have come and gone.... ...this one is a keeper! I’ve used it for nearly seven years on several recordings and across several devices. Fully loaded with all IAP’s, it still works perfectly on an old 2013 iPad2. The instrument choices cover every imaginable genre. Combine them to invent new genres never conceived of before. Loops are fantastic. The editing options and randomization features are pleasingly musical. Just the right amount of “looseness” makes it sound so real. Pete Lockett is phenomenal; genius. The instrument playing surface at the bottom part of the screen is so unique and very well thought out. Quantize and effects selections are extensive. It is actually difficult to make a bad sound or groove. Incredibly expressive. A couple of little nitpicks: The loops cannot swing, but it is likely not possible with the way they are recorded. Changing that would likely kill the excellent nuances that Pete laid down. However, the playing surface at the bottom does have decent swing options. Tempo range is slightly limited: 60 to 200 bpm. Would be nice to have a little more at both ends, though the loops do get a bit unnatural sounding at both extremes already. I personally like slower tempos with more busy instrument settings. All said, this is my favorite drum app, by far. It is super easy to use, has a vast library of sounds with extensive controls and extremely expressive interfaces; it deserves MORE than five stars.

Poor quality. Downloaded this thinking I was getting something that sounded good and would be “recording quality” as stated in so many of its reviews… Yeah not so much, quality not up to par with other programs, tried asking for a refund, but site says not an option.. Don’t wasted your money, not worth it…

Great app!. PLEASE some more pop/rock though please!!! Even if it's an IAP. Just please give us something besides drum circle music!! I love the app, that's my only complaint.

Best drum app I have. This is the best of all my drum apps, and the one I go to first, when I want to lay down a cool drum part for my backing tracks. Good sound quality, a cool interface, and lots of variations, make for a great drum machine experience.

Just superb!!!. Such a clever bit of kit this ... so simple and intuitive. A walk-up start. Just missing a monkey drum - a cuica. But if you’re after building an organic, human feel into a complex polyrhythmic pattern - nothing else comes close.

Wow. Very impressed, definitely a drumming app to add to your drum app arsenal for the price.

Superb, recommend without hesitation. This is hands down my favourite ipad app. Lockett is a superb percussionist- I was already a fan of Network Of Sparks. This app is a combination of a brilliant set of loops and samples combined with a great interface that is easy to get started with but has some useful details if you spend the time with it. The loop section is great fun; I use the randomise options all the time. You can randomise either (or both!) the choice of instruments and the parts they play on the fly; I use this a lot as a springboard for song ideas. It plays well with other apps; its great fun to use with Loopy, and I also export loops and individual instrument performances to Auria. It's got a great collection of sounds- including a bunch of conventional drumkits. So it's great for building up conventional western drum parts as well as more "exotic" sounds But, frankly, a lot of the time I just play the app on its own, for relaxation. It's a huge amount of fun. Recommended for musicians who want to explore and create any sort of rhythmic ideas, and for anyone who just wants to have fun with percussion. Update: The expansion packs are great, this is still my first choice for creating drum loops or for just mucking around and having fun.

Sometimes you find a gem!. I was looking for a SIMPLE drum app that I could use to jam with and maybe steal some rhythms for songwriting. When I first saw it on App Store I thought uh oh another hippy nerd overly complex hand drum synth. But I saw it had some latin loops, and since I'm a sucker for Latin gave it a try. Cynicism vanquished . Simply awesome. This is now one of my most used music apps. Very clever interface, great sounds great presets great everything! A new standard for music app has been set.

Exactly what I needed! Think GarageBand drums on steroids. Being a non drummer, I was looking for an app that would build the rhythms for me and still let me tweak them to make unique patterns. This app does that and so much more. The samples are great and varied, the controls allow a lot of tweaking, and the layout is a brilliant combined workflow. You could spend hours on playing with the filter alone. Thanks Peter - a brilliant app

Gets the creative juices flowing!. I’ll start with the bad. Theirs an annoying delay that occurs when the app is synced with Ableton over wifi via link so using it in a live jam doesn’t work so well. I haven’t tried direct monitoring yet so might give that a try to see if it improves things however anything you record into Ableton will need to be manually adjusted to the grid. Apart from that, I cannot fault the app. Sound quality is really good. Being able to position the instruments around the stereo field and front to back is a really nice touch! It allows you to audition instruments in a way which feels more natural than using pan and reverb. First play with the app, I laid down a percussion groove and was inspired into this great musical journey exploring different styles I normally wouldn’t have come up with. And loved it! I write underground electronic music mostly and had heaps or fun laying a fat wobbly bassline, trippy synth lines and pounding kick over top of the acoustic percussion loop. The percussion from this app kinda drove the mood which was a nice change from having to come up with something on my own. I eventually didn’t keep the percussion in the music because I had some new idea however it was pivotal in setting the mood for the session. Theirs still lots I haven’t worked out with the app yet but so far, I would highly recommend it. Especially for solo musicians looking for some quality sounding percussions to layer music on.

Brilliant app, well worth the money!. I've been searching everywhere for an app that does what I want, which is: - midi drum pad used to trigger natural percussion sounds from around the world - let me switch instruments quickly during live performance so that I can loop (using LoopyHD) them on top of each other with midi drum This does the trick. I'm too new to it to know if I can do other things I want, so I won't comment just yet. Some requests, please, Pete? (I know, presumptuous to ask) - can you make Pads out of the other instruments available in your loops, please? Cajon, triangle, clap, wood block, etc. would be amazing! - where's the love for Celtic? Bodhran, bones - okay, that's all I got, but I play my midi drum pad vertically like a bodhran for primarily Irish and Scottish tunes. Please? - imagine being able to combine two instruments into a single pad! - I'd love to be able to assign midi notes to any of the sounds in the pad area and save configurations for quick retrieval - can we filter the instrument list for the pad selector and save that selection? I'm sure I'm asking too much, especially for an app I already gave 5 stars to. But thanks for considering any of those ideas.

Excellent app. Sounds great and very easy to use. Having paid full price, I am a little disappointed to find out that the ability to change time signatures will be made available as an in-app purchase at a later date. At $7.99, I think this should have been made a free update. I've had a few crash issues when exporting to Music Studio for iPad but other than that, it works flawlessly.

Fluid. Fluid. Amazing in PADS mode where you can perform with the help of hold-to-roll trigger pads with great variating articulations up the Y-axis. The result is so lifelike its an almost surreal experience to jam with. Love the audiobus support meaning I can jam live into Multitrack DAW. Tops!

Music. At the start for a couple of minutes unknown music plays with the starting of app makes very uncomfortable at any time.

Great selection of rhythms!. I downloaded this app to use instead of a metronome for my trumpet practicing. So much fun, and so many interesting rhythms! Love that you can save your favorites, and edit existing rhythms, too!

Plain and simple fun.. I have been working/playing with it on and off in the last 3-4 years, and it's still getting a good jam started in my band.

So Fun. Was checking the page everyday for the release and finally last night I noticed it was live! Downloaded and played for an hour...so far I am loving it! I'm not a great drummer by any means but this app is great for me and generating new ideas. Great work!

Excellent percussion app. Really great and Intuitive app, with great sound. Really easy to get great jamming loops. One shortcoming is the inability to set song timing, even something as simple as setting either 4/4 or 3/4 would make a very big difference in its utility.

One of the best. This is such a great app. It's fun, just to mess with. But it's also a serious music making app. You can make great percussion loops. And it has to have one of the finest set of samples of percussion instruments, for next to no cost, all driveable by midi, in the app store.

One of the Best. When I say one of the best, I mean it belongs on the iPad of any musician who enjoys making drum beats. If you have not much skill then you can still make good beats. If you are skilled then you will laugh at how it can extend your ability. Great great fantastic app with so many different drums available that are sampled with care. It amazes me when I see a review that raves how good it is and gives 4 stars because it lacks one thing that the reviewer would like to have. Stars is a relative thing. If you remove a star for one thing you want then every other drum app you should give zero to make it fair. You are giving 4 to the best drum app. Is that sensible? Rating is not a way to ask for features. If you want a feature then email the developer instead of reducing the apps rating. Actually the more important reason to review is to let people know how good an app is. If an app is the best, doesn’t it deserve the best possible rating?

The name is true. Im not a pro of drums but its perfect for me. Impressive app! Intuitive use like Garage Band but most impressive then it's dum section. I enjoy it give a lot of paterns, that i can modify live, fast and able to play different drums over it.. I try to export a patern into keybords app and its perfectly work! I didnt saw if it's possible to edit the loop we created in the tape recorder. But to let trip the intro and outro before saving or export would be cool to give perfect tight cut... It's a simple suggestion. But again i enjoy a lot the way it work! I was ready to use it after just a few minutes :)

Great possibilities 4 pro sound needs samples /European sounds. Real sounds that can make tracks shine. Needs to have sample import or at least Greek and ethnic European sounds and more beat patterns to be 5 stars. Now mainly African and Asian, with only 4 selectable beats per set. Add midi pattern import, sample import, need Iaa working better with Auria, get Audiounit support and record/sampling similar to thumbjam please support sfz sf2 drum instrument import.

Want percussion?...Get this App!. What a gem! If you are looking for some quality percussion...look no further. The sounds and samples that come with DrumJam are great (better than I expected)! I have paid over $40 for samples of this quality from sample sites. That alone makes this app a must have. But it doesn't end there. The developer also gives us the ability to make your own ensemble, as well as some level of sample/sound manipulation. 5 *s

Almost too much fun!. This app is really unique in that it lets you play along with the tracks you create in a really expressive way! The pads are brilliantly designed for getting all the nuances from various percussion instruments. It is heavy on world type percussion but with enough interest, I'm sure they'll add more Rock type pads. There are already some as well as electronics but I've read a lot of reviews of people wanting more Rock drums. Personally I wanted the world drums more, so I couldn't be happier with this app.

Very good..... Sounds are great. So far, it seems that all patterns are in 4/4 time which limits its use for me. Doesn't like you can create your own patterns and save them within the app. I've been using it mostly to practice with.

Disappointing for rock/alternative/indie. This is really good if you enjoy world music genres or maybe drum circles. This is not the sort of thing that's going to help you come up with a basic useable drum track for a song. The instruments included are the: agogo, bongos, canon, claps, congos, cowbells, crasher, cylinder shakers, doira, funk hi-hats, funk kick, funk snare, ghatam, kanjira, konnakol, req loud, req soft, rock hi hat, rock kick, rock snares, seeds, surdu, tabla bass, tabla treble, tambourine, the dube, triangle and wood. The two hi hats, kicks and snares being the most useful for anything outside of cultural music. There are about 15 patterns available for looping for each instrument. There are no loops for toms that I could find, though even GarageBand offers that. However, what you can do is load one of each of the hi-hats, snares and kicks in the looper in the top section and then load the "Russ Miller Toms" preset down in the lower section and play those manually. That gives you a full kit with some level of automation. This could work if tom loops were added along with an algorithm that played them appropriately together at the right times. Additionally, a wider variety of kicks, toms, snares and cymbals and five or six times as many patterns. No one said there was too much culture Colfaxjones, just not enough rock, sorry if my opinion makes your world go all topsy turvy.

This was a little surprise. I'm a frustrated drummer that just cannot get away from drum apps, since that is my weakest musical area. I was looking for an app that could help me spice up my lack of abilities in the percussive section. This little app definitely fits the bill. At first, I was disappointed, because it kind of felt similar to the drum section in GarageBand, but man was I wrong! The automation of the drum parts and their rhythm is phenomenal. You can make it move to different loops automatically. Definitely what I needed to help me achieve livelier drum parts. One request though, bring a set of Timbales for Salsa, metal guiro and tambora for Merengue please! They are sorely needed and with the articulation possible in this app those drums would rock. A great app, thanks!

Nearly tore my ear drums with a sharp noise. Not even a reply from support after this app nearly tore my ears off. It's been a week since I contacted. Reinstalled it and it won't even open. Piece of junk. Who's rating all those high stars? I contacted the company and no response. Tried to join the blog and it didn't work. Nearly tore my eardrums with a sudden shreaking sound on midi interapp audio doesn't work on Yamaha Mobile Seq or Retronyms Tabletop. I've been complaining for a while. This app shows up on interapp audio and I bought it for that reason but it doesn't function. Nearly tore my ears off and more than just freeze Yamaha it broke it and I had to reinstall that whole app luckily nothing was of value in there but I thought It was the iPad broken for a sec because no other app ever broke another app before and no other app nearly tore off my eardrums. I expect an apology from Pete Lockett at Sonosorous.

Amazingly Fun. Like ThumbJam, this is one fantastic piece of software. I can't believe how easy it is to get such professional sounding drum sounds on my iPad for such a low price. I have other drum app's and while they are all good, Drum Jam easily takes the cakes far as sheer joy and ease of use. Great, great work to the people that made this, thank you!

Outstanding. The rest of the Drum App designers can go back to the drawing board. This is without a doubt the best drum, rhythm App on the market . I tried to give it 6 stars but I couldn't. The infinite variety of rhythms, instruments, sounds is amazing and as a drummer I can appreciate the effort that went into the production of this app. Well done lads.

Wonderfully designed.... so how about?. This is pure gold. Now can we get a grid to really bridge the gap between drummers and programmers? Plus a proper sample utility that uses the microphone ! As well as a sequencer with a drag and drop utility to assemble patterns into songs? Peace christo

One of my favorites. I like new update. The new IAP's offer some decent sounds. It can be as simple or as complicated as you want. There are a lot of settings to explore, so get creative and make interesting music.

Great Interface… Some more features needed.... This is a great app & interface. As a percussionist, I see the need for more options, to make this app a truly complete percussion experience. - Ability to choose between different time signatures. - A sequencer that works in conjunction with the parts being used. - An option for the random generator to work only with current parts.

Fantastic app for beginner and pro!. What a wonderful app! It has a very rich set of features just waiting to be explored - myriad instruments and settings all laid out beautifully - and is a great, fun way for both rank beginners as well as seasoned pros to create some awesome music, and look good while doing it! :-) Highly recommend it!!

So good. A beautiful app. Unlike any thing else. Inspiring. Take some time to learn it and you will be rewarded. Latest update is great. BUT I miss the option to quickly select which type of note (quarter, sixteenth, eighth, etc.). Now it's a two step process. When I'm jamming I'm constantly selecting a different note type. Was, at least.

Functionally Awesome - Needs Rock Drum Samples. This app is extremely well built and works great. However, a majority of the samples are just not useful for my compositions. If some traditional rock / blues / jazz samples were available I could give 5 stars. In its current state I just have buyers regret.

what jordon said. stradivarius = violin, sonosaurus LLC= music apps this one is essential. in less than 24 hours of download i am totally impressed. you KNOW when you drive a great car, play a great guitar, see a performer like wayne shorter... there are some things so well designed, so well thought out so, powerfully pending with possibilities that you know they will be as basic to your toolkit as a screwdriver.... this apps is not only one of them, but one of the top ones... for my part, i have allowed jordon rudess' gentle guidance to lead me in app directions that open compositional and performance doors... this one by pete lockett and sonosaurus LLC have blown the door off the hinges and invited the muse to move in an take residence....

OMG this APP is AWESOME. I must say this APP is AMAZING and Yes ..... AWESOME! I have now had some time to explore and Play with this incredible Percussion Dream Machine :-) WOW! A huge thank you goes to the developers of this Fine APP for what it does .... especially for me not knowing how to PLAY The Drums .... LOL .... With the manipulation and touch of a finger I have had HOURS of fun which now has me truly inspired to get back into composing more songs. I can assure you .... for Jamming, it's great. It's like having a percussionist in your iPad. Fun to play. Some genres are difficult to work it in with, but that's my only quibble. It excels at what it was designed for.

THUMBJAM Still Rockin. DrumJam has been a stable jam and percussion composition teacher, pal, guest artist for over two great years of form and informal musicalizing .. Hanging out with all the lovely updates has made this dependable app a resource of endless amazement and solid creative joy.. the percussion loops pitch can be altered higher lower to get into some other earthiness and great drive.. I take it with me All the time on the road and I the studio... the better the playback medium the better the sound .. Nothing out there had been able to catch with this Rockin app DRUM JAM .... LARAAJI

The App is great, the Tabla is amazing beyond words.. I've been playing tabla for many years. The ease with which I can get beautiful sounds and super-human-sounding dayan (treble tabla) leaves me stunned and practically in tears. I am humbled. It may have been my last $8.00, but my life is changed forever. The rest of the app seems solid, the other sounds are lovely … but you'll have to give me a moment. I never imagined an iPad interface could be so easy and sound so good. I need to play with for a while, to be comprehensive about what it can do, I just got it. This may be my first review of anything. I don't even know these guys… but yeah, I'm very happy. Works solidly in Audiobus with Loopy and Animoog running. Off to the races!

Greatness. The best ..

Meh. It's okay for the price but don't pay anymore. The sound quality is excellent but like another reviewer commented, the smart drums on GarageBand pretty much get you the same result. I was hoping for something a bit more. Supposedly there a big plans for this. We'll see.

Expressive. All kinds of great sounds in this dual purpose drum app. Yes, this has mostly World Music type of percussion, and that is okay fine for a lot of music that I want to make. So much to like with DrumJam...great developer, super quality samples, fun to play and auto patterns to help fill-in when needed. Expansion sounds are good too and well worth it.

Perfect for the creative musician.. This app goes much deeper into ethnic and hand drumming then most drum apps which sets it apart. You can still do your standard drumbeats but you might have to put a little more effort into it. This app doesn't generate anything standard. It's in a class all it's own. Most of the time I just hit the random generator for inspiration but when I have a song idea that I need to fit the drums to I'll sit down and place the drums where I want them one at a time. The sample recordings are superb and I found it to be intuitive. If you get stuck in a drum rut, this will give you something new and different.

Wow. This is hands down THE best percussion app. The sounds are high quality and the performances are excellent. The possibilities are endless! I am the type of musician that gets inspired by starting with percussion/rhythm tracks and working from there. Your app makes this so incredibly easy and gives me so much control that I can get into creating music with much less effort. Thanks for a fantastic product.

Over the top beats. Ok.... I am just gonna say this drum app is perfect...seriously, it makes over the top beats and does everything. It plays the beats for you and you can play beats on it. I use this on every song I write and one day....one of these days. Anyway....buy this app. You won't be sorry.

Great sounds, too cluttered UI. I used this app on iPhone for a long time in live situations and looked forward to using it on iPad. Sadly, the fact that you can't hide all the loop functionality makes live playing of the pads (which is all I do) pretty much impossible. I wish the screens were modularized like thumbjam so you could hide the parts you don't need access to. If I had an option to ignore all that stuff and the factory loops, this would be a 5 star review.

A brilliant creation. One of the finest apps for music creation I've found so far. For range of control, quality of sounds, and effectiveness of the interface for generating new musical ideas, this is superb. These are clever folks, and I'm looking forward to what they do next. Very Deep Drum Program!. Drum jam is amazingly deep! You could almost teach a degree on drumming with this application. It shines at providing realistic percussion instruments and drums from almost all of the continents of the world into the palm of your hand. Hundreds of loops can be layered and randomized to create thousands of drum circle variations. Moreover, you can play any of the specific sounds (e.g., Taiko, Agogo, etc.) independently over your drum circle groove or solo. The possibilities are almost endless. Add recording, export, killer effects (delay, bit crush, etc.) to the excellent sampled instruments library and you have an outstanding creative tool for the home or studio. Drum jam is ideal for soundtrack work. It also has several nice acoustic drum kits that are expressive and realistic to play or add to the mix. From the moment you turn it on you are treated to some nice grooves. More sounds (e.g. electronic kits, cymbals, etc.) are available via in app purchase. I like this app better than Thumb jam which also has good sounds.

Not sure why I waited to pick this up. This is different from most drum groove apps, and that is one of its strengths. I mainly use it to generate grooves to play to, but I’ve also spent some quality time just playing grooves and solos, and it’s all really satisfying. The user interface has that Sonosaurus flavor, which I guess I have to say is not the best thing going, but everything that’s important really sparkles: the sound quality, the fun of playing, and the creative possibilities.

I love this app.. The sounds are fantastic and very usable. For the $ there's no better way to get such well tracked samples! I've used this in place of a metronome for practice for several months now, both on my iPhone5 and on my ipad3. The randomize functions allow a great deal of control as well as keeping things fresh. If you want to play it live, there's loads of fun to be had tweaking the pads. My next step is to use it with beat maker 2 in my iphone5 while I'm driving to program my own rhythms via midi. So I can further enhance my texts with soundtracks. ;) I love the sampled drum kit sounds. They really go well with all kinds of rock and even metal when done creatively. The latest update introduced inter app audio, which makes it a breeze to use with Beatmaker2 and Cubasis and AURIA even though all also have Audiobus capability. This apps willingness to play with others will ensure it's staying power in the coming years. The learning curve won't be wasted here. A real winner! Keep up the great work! Call me sometime, we'll do lunch.

I love it. It's a really great compliment to Thumbjam. I suggest you make the bottom pad change pitch in semitones along with the volume you already have. At least for the hand drums. Then it will sound real

Purchased In-App Bundles Not Installed!. Does anyone successfully download and INSTALL those loops and instruments bundles? I just cannot download or install those packs. It always shows "Error authenticating download! Could not download item." In fact, I've got a receipt of these purchases from App Store. Although I wrote an email to let the app developer know this problem a week ago, no reply nor solution has been received.

Awesome, jaw-dropping app!. With an abundance of percussive instruments and an extremely intuitive feel this app is not only useful for a musician but it will provide hours of fun for anyone who is musically inclined. On my wish list is a Cajun/Zydeco, Celtic instrument and rhythms and perhaps brush sets for the drum section.

Good stuff. It does indeed look like the drums in GarageBand, but with a myriad more choices and, most importantly, with Audio Copy, which is oddly missing from GarageBand (making that app just a toy). I was able to play live together with the generative drums, and export to Animoog. A useful app. Winning.

BEDLAM!!!. This new update makes DrumJam THE go to starting point for me creating music on iOS. The app provides for infinite possibilities. This is the best natural sounding drum app I've ever found. The new Bedlam addition has added an entirely new depth to this already awesome drumming app. You can create your own custom grooves with the loops, save custom presets of those in progressions, and then record it all internally or to any app supporting Audiobus or IAA. This is the drum app I've been looking for, and I don't think you'll be disappointed either.

Mind blowing. Love to hook this up to the Bose PA and use as a backdrop to jam on with my new Roland HPD 20 electronic drum. I'll be jamming along and look down at my watch, only to realize that three hours have gone by, and I've been in a complete rhythm trance! This is the best imaginable use for your rhythm dollars. Top notch sounds and rhythms. Please add patterns in other time signatures such as 5/4, 7/8, and 6/8

Another great app. I love this app. The samples are great and the on the fly control is fun for live applications. The one thing I need is options for time signature changes. If this were added it would allow for great experimentation and help drummers grow into things beyond 4/4.

I love this. This is my favorite app to use besides thumbjam. Pete Lockett is such a master percussionist. This app is very innovative and I love how natural the drum sounds are. This is such a bargain for the price. I use this app a lot when looping and doing solo concerts. Bravo!!!!

Great sounds and very fun to use. Pretty nice sounds and combinations on the percussions, can get some cool jams, it's also fun to use. As suggestion hopefully you would have included a bit more sounds in the in app purchases, the electronic part is very limited and you get very few new instruments with each in app purchase. Anyway, potential on this one, can't wait for future updates! Better fx gui? Some ability for Latin-house with some salsa like tunes n loops? Anyway, lots of stuff, regardless I like it anyway!

Useful and really fun too!. Totally digging this app!!! At first it's just a blast to mess around with but not I'm exporting sounds and grooves to other electronic pads for real practical uses.

Documentation. The teaching documentation is almost worth the price of admission all by itself. Could play the bongos by themselves for hours utilizing the solo pads alone with all the variants. Amazing, Just a first impression.

A unique and powerful percussion tool, live or in-studio!. In a class by itself. Great for all kinds of music, with not only ethnic percussion, but several excellent sounding "live" kits and even electronic sounds available via IAP. Very high quality samples and an interface that is great for live use alongside beat loops or live jamming with other musicians. The new "Bedlam" effect lets you meld authentic-sounding percussion with glitchy and jungly electronic effects, all on the fly! DrumJam is becoming a staple in my live sets and a secret weapon in my recordings. The only thing keeping it from getting 5 stars is that it's limited to 4/4 time.
