Needs some work. At first I was ok with paying the $4.99 for the app because it looked like fun. However, after purchasing it and downloading it on all of my families devices, I found out that we cannot each use our own device. It is a pass and play game so we have to use just one device. It would be so much easier if we could all use our own phones instead of having to pass them around the room the whole time. Also, there are some other bugs that need worked out. The color chooser won't slide over right, and there is too much in the middle of the screen that blocks the view of what is being drawn. Fix these, and I'd be willing to give it a higher rating.

Fun time with the family. The family enjoys playing the game, especially the grandkids at family get-togethers. We’re always in for a laugh with some of the drawings. Even though you can add words, it would be nice if a new group of words were added with an update or paid add on word packs. It might be worth the fifth star.

Great game but loses connection on iPad app switch. Great game but incredibly frustrating in that if anyone in your party hits the power button on the iPad or accidentally swipes causing an app switch the game will be lost. Even with careful management of the iPad it’s hard to not lose a game. We love this but it’s way too frustrating. Just lost a game with 14 ppl half way through.

Love this app, but….. Love this app. It is so much fun. But….it seems to only work with Apple TV, which I don’t have at home and I can’t just mirror the screen. Also, we can’t adjust the score after the time is up, which sometimes we need to, because we get too excited and can’t get to the pause before the time is up.

Great Family Game. We have kids across a wide range of ages, so finding something everyone can do together is always a challenge. This has become one of our favorite family activities, as it's fun for all of us, and keeps everyone engaged throughout. Great design, great fun, great use of the Apple TV. (The only thing I would change would be to add some fanfare at game's end.) I'd buy it again if I could!

Won’t connect. Waste of money, wish I could get it back, fails to connect no matter how you try, the help the app provides is a huge joke. Save your money skip this one.

Great idea, words need work. This is the closest game to Pictionary I have found for iPad. Using it with screen mirroring makes for a great family game night. My only complaint is with the words and categories. The standard words are sometime so abstract and weird that they are impossible to draw (e,g, “extra sensory perception” or “charity event”) but the kid words are far too easy. Overall a great game.

Doesn’t draw where you want it to. Could have been fun, but, until the interface works this is $4.99 wasted.

Great fun, easy to set up!. We downloaded this for a New Year's party with the kids, and it took all off 30 seconds to set it up on the AppleTV and start playing. Everyone had a great time and we were glad they had an option for kid-appropriate words. Well worth the purchase. I agree with previous reviews that note there are too few words in kids mode. Pleas add more, or add user-generated words!

Very fun game!. I bought this yesterday and played last night with friends and their kids. We had a ton of fun! Extremely fun game, works perfectly, mirroring the drawing onto my tv through appletv. It mirrored easily and I didn't experience any bugs at all. Well worth the 6 bucks. We had a great time, I look forward to playing again!

No repeat option. I am not going to list all the reasons why I am giving it 3 stars, because so many others have listed the many short comings in their reviews. I will add that the game needs a no repeat of words option. Really frustrating to have the same easy words show up game after game. It would be better if the game just came standard with no repeats.

worth every penny. sketchparty has entertained countless party guests with it’s easy to use, high resolution screen app. the larger the device, the better, but the instant mirroring to the apple tv has made it worth every penny.

Great game!. We played this with some friends on New Years Eve and had a great time! The app crashed at one point during game play and wouldn't allow the current player to draw, change colors, etc so we had to force quit the app which made us lose the current game, but other wise it worked great and was a lot of fun! Looking forward to future improvements and maybe future games using this model!

Kids love it, so much fun!!. My kids ages 5, 9 & 11 love this app! Brings back memories of pictionary when I was their age. Works perfectly with the apple pencil and iPad Pro along with the apple tv. 👌

Fun when works. Causes issues with my airplay

Best iPad party game. My wife and I love playing this when we have people over to the house. It's so easy and really is a blast. People tend to come out of their shells when they don't have to stand in front of everyone while they are drawing. I would probably pay $50 for the amount of fun we have had playing this game. And thanks to the Devs for fixing the bugs. Much appreciated!

Sooooo sad. I could not get this hooked up to my tv. So it was a waste!

Fun, but needs way more words. The gameplay is great, it's easy to set up, and my family of four had a great time. But like many other reviews stated, it needs a lot more words. We played with both the standard and kids word list, and in both cases we ran through all of the words just after a couple of games, and it does detract from the gameplay. Paying for more words would be appropriate for a 99cent game, not a $5-10 game.

Four. I thing it’s fun but it’s five dollers?!!

I want to love this game. Unfortunately the word list for kids is way too small. We were repeating words in the second round of the game with four on a team. That was within eighty words we were repeating. The second game was 90% repeated words. It also lags at time on the screen and picks up odd touches to cause lines to streak across the screen. Improve the kids word list and fix the minor technical issues, and you have a great game.

The most fun reason to own an Apple TV. Best family party game on the App Store! Worth the price of an Apple TV! My family and I cannot stop laughing when we play this game. The sharing features are so great to look back on the silly things we drew later. I adore this game! This is probably one of the biggest hidden gems in the iOS ecosystem. I wish the word would get out already.

Tons of family fun. My family and I love this game. It’s a regular thing for us to play. We play so much we know most of the words so please update more words in the kids section.

Very well-made, worth it, but needs more words. This app is awesome and works flawlessly with the AppleTV. The only downside, literally, is that you can get through most of the words after 2-3 nights of playing. It would be great to have the following features: - add our own words to each dictionary, or just add a boatload words and phrases to the next update - set word mode per team -- for example, if there was a kids vs adults game, kids team could choose to get kid clues, adult team could get adult clues

Fun for the whole family!. Great game, my kids really love it. Best feature is the availability of a "kids mode" for limiting the words to those that are easier to draw. This mode is available either through the paid app or via in-app purchases with the free version. Well worth it for the younger players. Also kudos to the developer for lightning quick replies to my basic questions. Don't think twice, go buy it today!!

Great party game! Buy it!. Whenever we play this game it's always a hit with new people. The app is very well designed and easy to set up with Apple TV. Lots of word lists to choose from, or you can add your own. We added our own lists for movies, TV shows and popular music from lists we found on the internet. We like to play with a stylus on the iPad. Makes it easier to draw for the kids and grandparents. Hours of fun for friends and the whole family!

Awesome family fun!. We needed something to do on a hot Saturday night and couldn't decide. I remembered this game and thought it was worth $6 to give it a try. We had a total blast! Drawing on the iPad Pro and watching on the 4th Gen Apple TV is genius, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Highly recommended for family fun or party game!!

Great party game!. Downloaded this over the holidays and had a great time playing it with family and friends. We all loved it. App worked well when mirroring to tv using Apple TV. A few changes I'd like to see: 1. More words! We got through the entire word list after a few rounds of play, and getting repeat words took some of the fun out of the game. 2. Ability to edit ALL of the word lists. This would be really helpful. We could then add words ourselves rather than waiting for an app update, or starting a whole new custom word list ourselves. 3. A way to get bonus points based on how quickly you finish your round of 5 words. Overall, great app with the ability to be even better with a few changes.

Great game!. I have been playing this game over a year without a single crash, delay or hiccup. None of my friends are super artistic and those slightly inclined this game levels the playing field enough to be fun for everyone! Some people have connection issues or out of sync(delayed). I don’t know how theirs is setup or maybe using an old router.

Used to be great. Haven’t played in a while. But now it crashes constantly. Loops within a single tram. Total mess. So disappointing. Just deleted.

So much fun.... Works great and the family has a blast playing it. We are not really into board games so this is a nice way to hang out together and have fun. Just make sure to turn mirroring on for AirPlay on your iOS device. The option is kinda hidden so make sure to scroll down to it in the AirPlay menu.

Enjoyable for all!. I remember the day in the 80s when Pictionary was brought to the house. Every game night for the next six months we played only Pictionary. Along comes SketchParty. There goes new games for a while! Hopefully for Magnate they take the initiative and make an interface that allows players to submit "clues" for game play. This should allow each player to submit their suggestions to a common bucket, maybe a "one-off" email address, and this is compiled into everyone's suggestions and can be incorporated into a single game. Without something along this line, it's only a matter of time before we play through all the clues and this app becomes obsolete while someone else moves to this next plane. But, again, Love what you've done so far!

Close! But not 5 star yet.. Only three stars! Great idea, poor execution. LOVED the free version, bought the paid app, then severely disappointed at what we got for our money (not much in our opinion). Subtract one star for not letting me be able to edit all the word lists. I have a 12 year old who doesn’t know how to draw several words. It would be nice to toggle words and edit EVERY list. The emoji list is plain stupid (12 people agreed with me!) The pop culture list might be more stupid (7 people agreed with me). Seriously, we haven’t found one person who could figure out how to draw “Internet celebrity” or “Vin Diesel.” The winter list might as well be called the “We want to call this the Christmas list, but we don’t want to offend anyone so we’ll call it winter, but we’ll throw a lot of Christmas stuff in there just to cover our butts." Second missing star is because you have to scroll to get through all the colors. You should not have to scroll to select colors, its very frustrating and time consuming (12 people agreed with me!) The “Pass" and "Got It" buttons should be more in the corners of the screen. We found ourselves limiting our writing area because of the poor placement of the buttons in the middle of the screen.

Tons of Fun!. Our friends came over the other night, and we loaded up Sketchparty on my Apple TV and used the iPad with Apple Pencil to draw. We had so much fun, making fun of each others' drawings and guessing. This is one of the best synergies of iPad and AppleTV, and I can't wait to have friends over again to play.

Some words repeat. Great game for the whole family, but the words repeat. It would be great to have more variety of words.

Poor Touch Accuracy. Update!! I heard from the developers and they worked on a fix! Since the last update early July 2018, this has been a blast to play on my SE and the whole family has loved it. Thanks! old version review-Since the touch on the screen does not correspond with the resulting line being drawn, it is beyond maddening. The most fun you’ll have is when you give up and just starting laughing at the app for failing so much.

Awesome Party App. I have had a few parties this summer and used this app for some great entertainment. This is one of the best party apps that I have ever used. It is fun for all ages! It is fast, has a great dictionary, and is easy to play. I love the idea that it is now available for the iPhone and iPod. Keep up the great work!

Connectivity issues. No matter if you are doing tv mode or through airplay this is littered with connectivity issues. Don’t waste your money on a game that works for a partial amount of time. I am running and iPad Pro and an Apple TV 4K yet somehow it cannot stay synced. I have a strong reliable network powered by an Asus AC 3100. Apple TV has direct connection with network, still unable to maintain a good connection. App is not worthy of the 5 star reviews that it has.

Family Fun. Had a blast with this game on our new Apple TV. With 2 kids under 12 everybody had fun playing this game and entertained. Worked great using an iPad 2 for drawing. Only feature I'd like to see added is the ability have a different word list for each team. This way if it was adults vs kids, the adult team could have a harder list then the kids team. Add this feature and it is a 5 star game.

Frustrating tech issues. We bought the app. Half way through the first game, everything froze. We tried restarting the app. 5 minutes into the next game it froze again. We could never finish a game.

Needs to speak the words. Please make an option in the app to make it say the word out loud when a word is correctly guessed. I use this to teach English for ESL students.

Best Game Ever!!!!!. I love playing this game!!! I play it with my family and friends and it was really fun. We spent hours playing it and laughed the whole time. It also brings us together and playing a game as a family which we never do. I am very glad I bought this game and I would buy it again. So I recommend this game for everyone to play with their family and friends.

So happy I rediscovered this. Used to play this a lot with friends back in the iPad 2/3 days. Eventually stopped using those iPads and forgot about it. I recently purchased a new iPad Pro 12.9” after years of not using an iPad. The other day, I decided to check out what I had on my iPad 3, and I found this game! Immediately went to download it on my new iPad. Looks like it works with Apple TV natively now (instead of AirPlay). It also works with Apple Pencil, which is a huge plus. Can’t wait to play this again and relive some memories! The only thing I’d suggest is to add more mature word lists. Other than that everything is great!

Crash. Game is fun but the app always crashes. Every time. You can’t finish a game because it crashes every time.

This is a great game. I was skeptical because there was only one review, but it was New Years Eve and we wanted a party game. This app really works well, fortunately we also have Apple TV (which is required). I was very pleased with everything about this app and will likely buy more word lists (in app purchase). The only change I would recommend is to include the Apple TV and mirroring controls in the app.

AWESOME. This game looks cool, but the reason I did not rate it 5 starts, is that there are in app purchases? I mean u have already paid 2.99 and there is then in app purchased? That's just weird. But apart from that it's great!

brilliant party game. This game makes brilliant use of the Apple TV mirroring feature. It's effortless to pass it around from player to player, and seeing the drawing on the big screen saves everyone from the usual neck-and-back ache when huddling around the drawer. Hilariously fun. I always end up in stitches after playing this with friends. You don't have to be any good at illustrating to play this, in fact, poor drawings make this even funnier! Works seamlessly with my Apple TV and I've been using it for a few years now. Love it!

On Apple TV this app just Waits for Godot. Waiting ... Waiting for device to connect ------------- The update to SketchParty just posted did nothing to make the Apple TV versions of the App useable. I downloaded both SketchParty TV Free, and the full version. Neither is playable. When you hit Play the Game, all you get is a billboard that says 'Waiting ... Waiting for the device to connect'. Below, there is a spinning indicator. It will keep spinning forever, if you let it. It's as though in Canada the Apple TV is downloading not an app made for the new TV device, but the old one made for iPads. Somebody needs to get their act together. What a waste of a game that plays nicely from the iPad to older versions of the Apple TV.

Very fun and easy to play!. A very fun game for multiple players! Easy to use, easy to set up, and works flawlessly! Love the ability to review the drawings in a completed game and even share them via email or printing. Highly recommend this game!

A great party game. My 12 year old daughter's birthday party was the perfect time to try this out. They had a screaming blast playing it for hours. It's a steal at twice the price!

Fun game but hard words for children. (And adults). We were playing this game with our grandkids and some of the words were very hard to draw. Like Spain. How are you supposed to draw that and then guess what it is? You should have an easy ,medium , and hard. Thanks 😉😕

Really fun - a few minor bugs. We played this as a group of 10 during a party and it was a huge hit. We used a Cosmonaut stylus and everyone really enjoyed playing. The game is nearly perfect, but there were a few minor issues. The app crashed a couple of times and also dropped the airplay mirroring connection twice over a 2 hour period. One big thing that needs fixing is repeating words (I see that the dev said a fix was coming but that was in October...) All in all, worth the $5 for a bunch of party fun.

Apple TV Killer But Simple App. Ideal for AppleTV. Minus one star for some needs-human-grooming clues, but otherwise exactly what it needs to be.

Doesn't work! :(. Whenever I connect to the Apple TV it disconnects right after and gives me a loading symbol that never goes away and makes the game unplayable. The free version works fine, but I bought the full version and I'm very disappointed that I spent money on something that doesn't work. I love the game but please fix this bug!!!

Great game, needs sound option. Great party game. Works well with new Apple TV and stylus. However, would like an option where audio could come from Apple Music sound. I'd like to play party music for the audio option that comes from my Apple Music subscription. Sound effects could overlay. When I open this app, Apple Music is muted or stopped.

So much family fun!. This game is truly a lot of fun for the whole family! The best part? Making your own word list with words and phrases that are specific to your own family— names of pets, stuffed animals, funny family traditions.... I was so impressed about the way it works on Apple TV. What may not be clear from the description is that it works on older versions of Apple TV: only the drawing screen appears on the TV, with the clues and tools only visible on the iPad to the person drawing. We couldn’t stop playing it!

Great Family Game. SketchParty is a great family or party game. It quickly draws people in... the sign of a great game. Hopefully the developers will add new words and color pallete to allow for continued "playability."

No go on Apple TV with 8.1.2. Won't connect with Apple TV, iPad Air 2 and Apple TV both running latest updates. Please fix this app as in the past it has been fun...

Old Apple TV? Buy a new one if you want to play. AirPlay works elsewhere, but with this app my screen goes black, unplayable black. Looking for an inexistent display app. Developer's advice? Buy the app and a new Apple TV to run it. I think not! Back to pen and paper - they don't need a hardware upgrade to work!

Best iPad game I have ever played. Everything about the execution of the game is wonderful. Just had an incredible time playing with visiting family. We haven't laughed that hard in years. And we had from ages 4 to 44 playing. What a great time!

Just right. This app gets everything right. But what would make it crazy-awesomer is if they moved the five dots of progress to somewhere else that doesn't block our view of drawings. C'mon. Poor design right there.

Great coding, but weak word list. The app is great, but after playing just a few nights several words have repeated already. The app needs much larger word list, and some logic to reduce showing the same word again.

Fun BUT very flawed. Great idea and overall a lot of fun but the app crashes about every 10 minutes and lags very often.

NYE fun. Downloaded this game and had a blast with 6 friends. We did two teams first then at the end, passed the iPad around and one person would draw and all others guessed. That was a blast.

LOVE this app! We play it all the time!. Our family loves this app and find ourselves playing it all the time. We especially like how it feels on our AppleTV. Super nice to see it come to the iPhone as well.

Word Count. Love this games and it fantastic fun... once. Then the words begin to repeat. It makes no sense to me that someone would go to all of the effort to develop an app like this and then short change themselves on the easy job of MAKING UP WORDS! This thing should have thousands of words, not what seems like about 100. With more words, this game would definitely be a 5.

Great for 3 plays. This game was awesome for the first few rounds. Then the words started to repeat. A 5 dollar app should have a larger pool of words, the free draw something app has more words than this program. We had to get cards from cranium's cloodle out and just draw those instead, using this app as nothing more than a way to transmit to the Apple TV.

Great family game. Our fam loves to play this. If you have a new appletv you will love this game.

Sketchparty TV. Fun game, can make any kind of library... However, after playing for a period of time, the connection between either an old or the new Apple TV's stop working, out of the blue. Is it the app? IPad Air 1? Apple TV's 3rd or 4th gen AirPlay? In any case, the gaming experience is trashed. Still looking for an iOS game that our family can enjoy together. Please repair.
