The NETGEAR genie app is an easy way to manage, monitor, and repair your home network--from the palm of your hand. While on your home network, the NETGEAR genie app allows you to access router features with your mobile device. You can access the following router settings using the NETGEAR genie app: wireless settings, network map, Parental Controls, guest access, traffic metering, MyMedia, and more.

• Easily control your home network through the genie dashboard

• Stream music and video files anywhere in your network from your smartphone or tablet

• Securely connect smart phones and tablets to your home wireless network with a QR code thanks to EZ Mobile Connect

The NETGEAR genie app does not work if your mobile device is connected to the router’s guest network.

The NETGEAR genie only works when your mobile device is connected to a NETGEAR router that is in router mode, not in access point mode.

The NETGEAR genie app does not work with a wireless extender or repeater.

The NETGEAR genie app currently does not support IPv6. If IPV6 is enabled, logging in to the router using the genie app will fail.

For the Naysayers.... My network is a 1st rev Netgear WNDR 3700 with a WN3000RP network extender. I am running an iPhone 6S with iOS 12.1.3 and my app just loaded and logged into my network in about 8 seconds. If you are having problems, first I suggest shutting down the 47 apps running in the background. (Yes, I do tech support and often see apps when I’m helping people with their iPhones that were opened years ago and never closed.) Perform a COLD BOOT, on your phone to completely clear RAM and try again. (Google the correct way for “hard” or “cold” boot on iPhones, as the process changes with the rev of the phone.) That said, I love this app because it makes checking and doing basic troubleshooting of my network quick and easy without having to use a computer to access the administrative functions on router and extender. Four star rating instead of Five Stars because I would like to see more of the legacy support in the administrative (computer desktop) dashboard built into the app. I know technology moves on, but Netgear supporters hang on to our equipment as long as we can. Help us with the legacy products!!

Missing some basic things. Not bad, I was eventually able to figure it out and use it, but it is clunky and missing basic capabilities. For example, I expected to be able to turn off internet access with a button, rather than go unplug my router, to keep the kids off at night. No luck, I have to do that for each device and then cannot turn them all back on in the morning if the device is "sleeping" (they don't even show up to turn on then).

I have no problems. I like this app. I also like the router! Works fine. No problems. Only I wish I would have bought a router that had the remote access feature. This way I can remotely pause the internet when it's time for my teen-child to be in bed. And I'm at work and not home to do it. Lol! But that's not the apps fault or this routers fault. I just need to buy a newer router with this feature.

Worst support of all time!. Shame on Netgear!!!!! After 90 days they charge you for tech support. I’ve never had any company do this-EVER. I lost my password for the app making me unable to modify parental controls. The parental control portion of the app doesn’t appear to have a “forgot my password” reset option so I tried creating a new account. But then it wouldn’t work because my phone was already tied to the previous account. With my frustration building I deleted the app from my phone and reinstalled it. Now it asks for an admin password but every possible password I can think of is incorrect. As a last ditch effort I tried calling Netgear tech support but was told it would cost $ for them to help. I will never buy a Netgear product again.

Network map not showing all devices. I've lost the ability to see all devices in network map today. I should see 10, now I only see my iPhone. I set access control on a device through this app and now the device doesn't show up so I cant change it back. Worked great previous to today. Tried restarting router and iPhone. Update: when I was using Netgear genie to reboot router, it never actually rebooted. I unplugged power on router and when it came back up network nap worked again.

Identifies nearly all devices. Leaves a few devices unidentified in the network map. I can understand one or two older wireless devices not being identified, but I added a brand new Apple TV (hard wired) and it was shown as unknown and its type was “other”. I haven’t had any problems updating firmware, and I believe it is current. I’m pleased with the app overall. It helps to identify and control devices that connect to my router.

Network map fails to load. Since the update last year, when the Genie iOS App took on the blue coloring, the network map feature has not worked, except once after a Genie delete and reload of of the app. Since then Genie has been updated several times, I’ve changed phone models (6 to X), the WNDR4700 firmware has been updated but the only feature of Genie I am interested in, the map, does not load. I am able to sign on to the router through my phone browser and see the connected devices, but not through Genie. New problem: genie won’t accept log on info, reporting them as invalid. But I can log in with the same credentials through the browser to the IP address. Removed genie completely and reinstalled but login refused. Feb 2019 - tried again - recent app updates cleared the login problem, and the network map loaded quickly. But very soon the map stopped loading. I tried finding a way to clear its memory cache but iOS 12.1 doesn’t seem to offer that possibility.

The latest update needs an update 👎🏽. 4th review - The app stopped working after iOS 14 update. I can’t login, can’t access my network to do any modifications to my modem router. NETGEAR THIS APP NEEDS AN UPDATE ASAP! Right now it’s trash just crowding my device’s space. 3rd Review - A) Password has been reset to default "password"..? Why would you need to do that? B) the app crashes right after logging in rendering the app useless. I'm on the latest iOS 10.2.1, & can't even use the app. Update the update! Look at the reviews you are getting Netgear! 2nd Review - I guess it worked when I deleted and downloaded the app & logged in. 1st Review - Who in the world would update their app to perform worst? Netgear, that's who. As it is happening to everybody else I can't login to my app & router since this update. I'm locked out of my own router. Netgear, if you are paying attention you need to redo the update; Update the "update".

Local Access stopped working altogether. This app has never been great. After I first purchased the device it worked alright. A lot of the features in the app were not supported by my router which was disappointing but not really an issue. Recently I have not been able to access my router at all. I am connected to the WiFi and select local access and every time I enter my password it pops up directions for connecting to the local network. I was hoping this would be fixed eventually with an update but that was several versions ago. Maybe they will eventually fix the issues.

Worst app imaginable. Honestly I just try and play video games because my parents let me, but people turn my internet off and it is ruining my childhood I cannot have fun anymore please remove this app I cannot keep this app and please remove I hate it it is ruining my child hood ever since my parents downloaded this I have had the worst week years of my life and I cannot put up with this anymore this is by far the worst app imaginable worse than the most expensive app I have tried everything but yet this app just cannot let me have fun at all so please do something or remove this app and it messes with my pc i play on my pc fortnite and when my internet gets turned off it messes up my computer and it really frustrates me becsudd the app is just beyond awful

Slow and laggy.. This app shows real potential but I've come to realize that this app is super slow, i thought it was maybe my internet speed that was causing the app to go slow but it takes me about 5-10 minutes logging in, then to get to my network map takes about an added 5 minutes. This app would be very useful and reliable but there are way to many bugs including the “access control” which takes forever just to block and if you do decide to block someone off the wifi it is almost impossible to unblock someone.

Absolutely Useless!. Completely useless! Completely unable to login to the app. Completely unable to login online. What good is Netgear or their Genie app? Nothing works! The app just sends you in an endless loop of login, never connect, next, login, never connect, next, ad infinitum. The online login never loads, it’s been several hours of endless “circle of death” that never loads! And to get any help from netgear?!?!? Forget it!!! The only way netgear gives any help, is if you pay them through the nose an exorbitant amount. They do not stand behind their product, and service is nonexistent! The absolute worst customer experience ever!!!

Fast but slow to boot up.. The netgear genie WNDR 3700 is fast but painfully slow booting up in the mornings. I shut my internet down and night as an extra layer of security against hacker attacks and wi fi sniffing. Once it’s fully up and running it’s a great router. But I usually have to give up to 20 minutes before my devices are connected and online. It’s fully compatible with satellite internet and provides blazing fast internet speed. Just slow booting up is the only draw back to this router. The app is very easy to use.

Once you figure it out.. Create a base security level in open DNS, and turn it on/off/modify using the phone app.I created an open DNS account, and configured the default security level (without time windows) to custom, and selected everything... totally locked down. Next, I configured a time window for normal use on the computer, and selected a low security level from morning until evening. Whoever uses the internet outside of the time window will get DNS error messages. Next, went to the phone app network map to find my kids computer. Who's where you lock it in, or loosening up; click on your kids, computer. Go to filter level, and select default filter on router, next restart the router from the phone app. You can change the security level on the fly to Open up the computer. Just remember, if you go in the opposite direction, (to lock it down) you'll have to reboot the router every time you make an adjustment in that direction. The system is fairly limited, but I've shown you a way to make it work… And it does work.

Delete This.. Dear Netgear, Delete this god forbidden app. It's a disgrace to your families and descendants. It rarely. Ever works that way I plan it to and is hard to figure out without stopping the WiFi of something I don't even know what! You wanna guess why? Because they're all unknown! I even had another phone with that app and that one had nicknames for all of them so I would know! I did NOT think I would have to do it again! Also, the app barely works! It would be nice if it worked correctly for once but, no. It just HAS to try to shut off the wifi to everything when I tell it to shut off/ block WiFi for one device! In conclusion, wipe this from the face of the Earth and never come back. Disappointed, Me.

Tutorial. I like the app and the ease of set up. I just wish I understood it better, but I also haven’t taken the time to look into what I don’t know. I tried using the guest WiFi, but when I turned it on, EVERYTHING but my phone was moved to guest WiFi and nothing would work. So I turned it back off and haven’t turned it back on since. If I can figure out how to utilize that for guests visiting my home, like family, I’m golden. I just don’t want MY devices using the guest WiFi, though it doesn’t make sense why the guest WiFi didn’t work.

Not very good.... I have a bunch of gear from Netgear in my network. When using this app, it’ll detect the AccessPoint (RS6250) but not the actual router (WNR2000) - until I key in that one’s IP address manually. But even when connected to the WNR2000 (I know that’s the one based on PW and traffic meter) it still indicates the RS6250 and wants to download new firmware. But who know for what device it will actually do it. Trying the right firmware on the wrong device will likely brick it. On top of that, the network map is slow to update and does not display the Netbios names (which I actually can see from the ASUS router, only used as an AccessPoint, essentially set up identically to the RS6250).

Antiquated Login. Most of the better apps allow finger print or face recognition for login. That would be a welcome improvement since every time I want to switch out of this app to check something else, it logs me out and I have to punch in my credentials again. Also, I just tried to do a firmware update recently using the app and during this process I lost my internet connection (coincidence???) and I had to manually reboot my modem and router to finish up this and other stuff I was doing. Needs to be more user friendly.

Great & Easy to setup and use. Wanted to make some changes to my router ( name & password ) and found this app on the NETGEAR site. Super easy to set up and use. Not all functions on the app work with my particular router, i.e. Remote, but happy overall with the app. I was able to register my product for the warranty and for potential tech support if needed. I'm not that tech savvy but had no issues using this app.

Loved it but now it doesn’t support my router. The newest update with Genie has now made it completely useless for me to use on my X6 R8000. First I was able to use it via my Samsung note 8 but then I couldn’t, but was still able to use it through my iPad Pro. Now I’m unable to use it at all. I enjoyed using the Genie, because I was able to see which device was using the most internet. Now it wants me to use the Nighthawk app that doesn’t show a percentage of which device is using the most internet. This is ridiculous.. Why fix it, if it wasn't broken. Terrible....

SUPER BUGGY APP!!!. This app will drive you mad! I used the device list feature to see all the devices on the network and then I blocked some devices of my sons to prevent access while he is sleeping and NOW THEY DISAPPEARED FROM THE LIST OF DEVICES so can’t get them back online!!! This is just the beginning!!! They have 2 apps for the device and 1 additional if you use “Circle by Disney” for Parental Control service. It took me FOREVER to configure Remote Management because you have to create an account on Netgears website and IT ALWAYS ERRORS ON SUBMISSION!!!! So it was impossible to create an account. Somehow it just let me in even though i never actually created my account. I know right!!? And in the Genie app if you go to Network Map to see all your devices according to which node they are connected to, Access Control is turned on!!! I didn’t turn on Access Control. I don’t want MAC Address Access Control turned on. ...but wait, there’s a lot more problems!!! Honestly who QA’ed this app? I work in QA and this is should never have gone out to the public. I am one step away from returning this product back to FRYS!

Not worth the space. So this app seems much more convenient than going to a browser and logging in to manage the router. It's number one issue is you can't log in locally or remotely. It tells me that my password is wrong even though I can log in with the same password in the browser and that I have no routers connected to my email even though it has been previously registered to said email. It's completely useless without the ability to log in and manage the router. Don't waste the space on your phone and just use your browser, it does all the same stuff with no wasted space

Sloppy money grab. This app has lost much of its usefulness. You have no access to the real tools for maintaining your network, just a few WiFi baubles. Still have to use the web interface to get to the real tools. My reason for buying the router, and getting this app was for the parental controls. But, rather than giving you the right tools to manage your network, now they want to sell you some Disney parental control subscription. I still held out hope for its usefulness when i found the "network map" tool. Here you can see all your devices connected to the router and what their network details are, and even "pause" their connection. Great right? Not so much. Devices won't show up in the map half the time. And the "pause" needs more control... Like time limits. Bottom line, they could have made this much much better, but chose to sell out.

Worthless. This app is one of the reasons I bought the netgear C3700. The app features made it very desirable considering I could control what devices can connect & block when necessary. Well the app takes forever just to log in, the even longer to load any of the features such as the network map if it actually does load. Also if you “pause internet” on one of the devices on your network, that device disappears from the map...now how do I un-pause internet for that device if it’s not showing? Tried accessing the internet again from that device and will not connect and doesn’t prompt the network to show the device. So I now have devices that I cannot get back on my network. Also my neighborhood had an internet outage and when the internet came back on the genie app only shows the device which I have connected to genie on the network app despite the fact that 2 other devices are connected. I also should ad that the netgear C3700 is not as great as all the reviews claimed. The old xfinity rental never gave me problems, but since buying this one (to save on my monthly xfinity bill), I can’t even get WiFi in my bedroom, in an 800sq ft apartment, with only a hall way in between the router & my bedroom.

Consistently forgets device names and types. When the app works it works great. But I can never log into it and see that devices that I have saved in my home with their proper names and or types. I logged in tonight and every single one of my connected devices at the Xbox icon and some of them at the name changes or?’s or blank. I save them in the app with the correct name and device type close the app out and it works fine. When I log into my net gear account on a laptop I don’t have this issue only through the app on my phone. Numerous occasions the remote function of the app does not work and I have to only be on the local network. I’m using an iPhone 8+ with most recent operating system upgrades.

Old looking app and Parental Controls are useless. This app is lacking a lot of things, for someone who has an Orbi which is a very expensive router by comparison, you would expect an app that is not blurry on an iPhone 7Plus and with at least parental controls that actually work. On the Parental Controls issue, you can set up ByPass logins, that doesn’t work. It doesn’t matter that you’re signed in with the bypass login with no filtering it still blocks you. You can go on the app, select Network Map, select the device and select the filtering level to None and it goes back to filtering anyway. Now, I can’t even shut down Parental Controls. I go to the app and select it and it tries to load the page and then goes back to the main menu. Seriously Netgear, the Orbi is a great product but the app support is absolutely lacking. You even have an Orbi app that does the bare minimum where you just have to use the Genie app. Why bother at that point?

Displays device connection incorrectly. This app does not display the connected devices correctly on which WiFi the are connected too, mean it does not separate from 2.4 , 5 or 60 GHz. It shows all connections as one color. Not the correct color for the connection. I wanted to know who was connected at which frequency, but when I looked, it shows them all connected at 5GHz which I know is not true. Please fix this when your looking at Router Management where you can see the different connections and network IDs. Show each device in the color of which frequency it is connecting to the router. That would be very helpful.

Trash. Network map only works some of the time... other times it only shows my phone when I know there are multiple devices connected. Sometimes... on the rare occasion it does work, I’ll turn a device off only to not be able to turn it back on when I want because the network map won’t load. Which is useless. Turning on and off the guest WiFi to manage kids usage (which is my back up when the network map is not working) only works some of the time... usually it just says “The action failed. Try again” over and over and over. Again, useless. In short... this app is useless.

No longer works!. This used to work very well On my iPhone. I could see all devices connected to our router and be able to toggle them to allow access or not at will. From this app. All of a sudden a month or two ago, it just get “the action failed. Try again” when I choose to pause Internet in a connected device. It seemed to stop working after I logged onto genie online from computer not phone and chose to update the routers firmware. I’m not sure if that is what broke everything or if it’s just a coincidence. Please, please fix this issue. I need to be able to turn off internet access for my children’s devices at night from my phone.

Hate the new app. I loved the previous version. This new one looks like, and is, crap. I do not understand what was going on in their minds. This is an improvement? I don’t think so. And ever since I got it, I have had weird problems that I never had before. I don’t even know how to describe them because I could wonder if it is just high usage or too many devices, or my router is too old. My worst fear is that it leaves me wondering how much control someone else might have of my network. One thing I always felt, however, is that their documentation was never enough for me, and I used to work in telecommunications, so I have some idea of what I am wanting to see. Sorry to have to say these things, but it is just how I am feeling these days.

Worthless. After being tired of “renting” a modem from xfinity, I decided to buy the netgear nighthawk ac1900 which cost over $200. I decided on this modem Bc it had the “user friendly” netgear genie app that is supposed to be similar to the xfinity xfi. Absolutely not. It’s terrible and there is no comparison at all. The app looks homemade, poorly designed, doesn’t load ANYTHING. I have not been able to do anything on it other than log in and log out. I wanted to easily manage all of our devices and parental controls from my phone in a matter of seconds like I used to be able to with xfinity xfi but have been able to accomplish NOTHING. I’m about to return the modem Bc this app is useless and is not doing what it says its capable of doing.

Excellent App. Can’t understand all the negative reviews by unhappy customers. I’m a tech so I can see where I have the edge. It’s unfortunate that people will do a little bit of research and think they know it all. If you are willing to pay out your good hard earned money for a device and are the least bit confused, for pities sake, spend a little more and have a tech work out your problems for you, or at least get a techs advice before you spend your money. I sell Netgear all day long. It’s top notch equipment. Don’t blame the app; blame the user. If you’re having troubles; ask for help.

This is a good app. In spite of some of the comments. You never hear back from people after they write a bad review about how they figured it out and it works as advertised. I like the simplicity. I like being able to monitor traffic and see what devices are connected, including those that should not be. I’ve got access to files on the hard drive connected to the router where ever I am. Just a good solid, stable tool.

Doesn’t Work For Nighthawk With IPv6 Configured. Same review for both Netgear Genie and Nighthawk iOS apps because both are equally useless for the same reason. I’m using a Nighthawk X6 R8000 (for now -switch to a TP-LINK Archer is imminent) FIRST A WARNING: Everyday, non-technical users need to know that they should never ever update the router’s firmware using any Netgear iOS app. Don’t do it. Ever. Connect a computer Ethernet style to the router and update it properly. There is a good chance you will brick your router if you try to update said firmware using any Netgear iOS app. This app is barely decent and certainly not in any way great or even close to adequate. The web UI flavor of Netgear Genie is still required to perform any meaningful management. Biggest and most fatal flaw for this app: It does not connect locally when the router is configured to use IPv6 and that is nothing short of ridiculous. Configuring IPv6 is not a hack. It’s a feature offered by Netgear for my router. Given that, this app is entirely and in every way useless (for me at least). I do dot know why this app was created or what it’s good for. Just stick with the web UI for router management. Netgear needs a QA department for its app and firmware development.

Less than Stellar but usable.. The appearance of the app looks less than professional and not very useful the net map for instance being segmented does not allow you to see whole network and parental controls are totally pointless. The addition of Disney controls is a poor choice. I bought the router because of advertised ability turns out it's a subscription service currently $4.99 a month for the function which count. Poor idea I can buy other routers and being a technical person do it myself. I dislike what almost amounts to false advertisement

Great app to configure. I use iPh7 with iOS11 without any issue. Log in takes a few seconds. The previous versions seem to be more stable compare to newer versions. I renamed all devices and the power line devices but unfortunately they were all gone once refreshed or closed the app. Other than that, everything working without flaw. I am using Nighthawk AC router R7000 with two power line extenders to reach all rooms without blackout. If your app works without issues, don't update anything and stay where you are.

Could be a lot better. I got a Netgear router about 3 months ago & it was hard as hell to set up in the first place. It wouldn’t do crap. And the app itself doesn’t do much. All it does is turn off certain WiFi connections to devices. Anything else, this app doesn’t do it. I was hoping for an app that would be able to do everything I needed. Change pass, names, view connection speeds, etc. But I can’t do any of that. The router did however boost our WiFi speeds which I’m very thankful for since its too expensive to upgrade speeds per month.

Okay, but needs improvement.. The network map should be a list. It’s annoying how devices will go in a different order all over the screen and I’d have to look around the screen instead of going from up to down. Plus, all devices, including blocked devices, should always be shown. I’ve blocked my little siblings’ devices for bad behavior, but unblocking devices is almost impossible on the app if you don’t even see the device listed. It’d be nice to see devices that aren’t currently connected to the WiFi either, so that if they did something bad at school, I can just block their WiFi once I get home instead of waiting and forgetting. Parental controls is helpful though. Don’t want the kids going on social media when they should be studying or doing homework online. Reboot router is nice. I don’t have to get up every time the router acts strange. It’d be nice if it was faster though.

Difficult to find support Red X ‘Not Enabled’ ?. The app has gotten worse as certain features stop working or say “router doesn’t support this feature” when it did before/ Suddenly we realize there is an impossible situation to locate simple things in manual or community groups about a icon Wi-Fi shows up too left supposed to be the name of the router according to the manual . But mine shows “Not Enabled” with a red ‘x’ This doesn’t mean our Wi-Fi is not working It is indeed. But we can no longer access from network Or only local Not Remote Logging in Remote shows “Select which router you want to access” There is none showing I think I found other places it says “this router doesn’t support that feature “ Enough to say that 50percent of this app is broken I tried the nighthawk just for the sake But it’s not working Only this older Genie or most current works I will say It does let local network channel changes and basic information about the network grid of devices etc So it’s not really broken but The fact that now it seems to have issues more than usual And it’s not really a network issue But a app issue We reboot using this app But cannot get this app to stop showing the “Wi-Fi” NOT ENABLED “x” color red. Please anyone explain what this is? Because Google and community net gear is impossible! Thanks!

Same problem as most. I downloaded the Genie app last night and everything worked fine. I was able to see what devices were connected to both my 2.4 and 5G network, see traffic and Network map showed all devices connected. I was able to pause certain devices access and set individual parental controls on all devices. Logged in today and it doesn’t even recognize my router, only shows the name. Traffic now says it’s not supported on this device. Network Map only shows link between my phone and router/web...nothing else. I’ve reinstalled the app probably 5 times, nothing. Can still see devices connected through web version, but web version will not let me individually select parental controls.

Purposefully crashed my laptop. After 90 days the router did not work, I paid $60 for it. They told me for $240 they could fix it. I said I would just purchase a new one. He then told me he could probably figure something out for me if he could check just one thing on my laptop (stupid mistake on my part). When I allowed him access the he placed a virus into it that crashed it. He then told me if I paid the fee he would be able to fix it. I did not. I did however take it to a professional and for $90 had it restored. I did not purchase and will not purchase this brand ever. I share this story with anyone who asks. They are unethical.

Cannot login. Latest firmware update has bug that does not allow me to login using app, says wrong password. I can login via web browser but not with app. So for rebooting or anything I need to edit, I must use web browser since app is useless after last firmware update. Problem is you cannot enable/disable parental controls via web, you must login with app to use parental controls, since I cannot login with app, my R6100 netgear router is useless. I purchased it for the parental controls. If you have a netgear router DO NOT update the firmware or it will take months (if you are lucky) for netgear customer service to help you. They should at least allow parental controls to be enabled/disabled without the app. Useless. App support blame the hardware, hardware support blame the app.

I love this app. It works great I rarely have any problems I can block any device sometimes when I block my sons Xbox and I don’t unblock it and he turns it off sometimes can’t find it when he turns it on so I just reset the WiFi also like it if I have to reset the WiFi I can do it from this app thank you great app I highly recommended it

Disappointed. My first experience with Netgear and I have to say I am disappointed. I bought the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 and after having everything hooked up I downloaded the Netgear Genie app. After signing up and logging on I come to find out I can only use the app while I am at home and connected to the network. Apparently the Nighthawk AC1900 is not compatible and able to use remote access so I can not monitor/control the router and network away from home. I can use an app to control my Linksys router from anywhere (home or away from home) I bought 5years ago with older technology so I’m not sure why this newer Nighthawk can not. Is Linksys that much more advanced and further ahead of Netgear? So then I downloaded and tried the “Nighthawk” app from Netgear which apparently my new Nighthawk AC1900 router does not work with. Very disappointed so far with Netgear and their apps.

Very easy to use. The genie app makes it very easy to exclude exclude users from your Wi-Fi network change passwords turn on your guest network turn off your guest network and pretty much can figure all the settings on your router without leaving the comfort of your chair from your smart phone it’s a great app I love it are use it all the time I highly recommend this app and the router I have is really traffic it’s Netgear.

Missing semi essential feature. Upgraded my router to the ac1750, added a WD mybook 4tb as a NAS/network drive (had to reformat and partition to get it to work) and moved my media to the network drive. This app let's me look at all the media and stream it to any of my devices on the network... SWEET. (Phone, Xbox,PCs, chromecast, etc) But, once playback has begun, and the app sleeps, there is no apparent way to re open the player on the phone app. The media continues to play, and the device playing it can control it, but it really should be able to continue controlling via the phone app. So far, I can't see a way to do that. Peace Love Unity and Rock n Roll

Workable but terrible experience. Honestly, this app is OK. All main functions can work, but the interface and using experience isn’t very good. For example, in Network Map, you can choose the type of your linked devices and give names, which is very good. But, every time you refresh, or you back out to the main page and go to the Network Map, which causes a refresh, it just loses all types. My R8000 always recognizes all devices as iPad except my phone. I hope developers can read some comments and really improve some features. Nobody wants a okay app now, users like good apps.

Works as it should. I really only use this app to reset my Nighthawk Router because I’m too lazy to go downstairs to unplug stuff. For that I love this app! It also has some extra features that I’ve played with that seem to work well. I like being able to see what all devices are on the network and being able to block those devices if it were necessary.

Perfect Utility app.... I don’t understand all the negative reviews ... the app does exactly what it’s advertised to do. Helps me keep track of data usage, manage device access control, track down all the devices on my network with mapping, and manage parental controls per device. Perfect for my 3 person home with 30+ connected devices.

Reliable Router, Useful App. After a couple renting the Comcast telephony capable router, I got tired of its poor, inconsistent performance. I decided it was worth giving up a home phone in order to have a choice in cable modems and wireless routers. This is the first router I have had with a phone app for access. It is very useful to change router settings, and has a reliable, customizable network map.

Excellent App General Use. I have been using the app now for more than 3 years. It is really handy and has most of the basic features. Specially useful to reboot the modem router without the need to physically go near it.

Poor. The time lock has never worked for me, I can manually pause the internet but set a start and finish time to keep the kids in check, simply has never worked.

Working time to time. When it is fly functioning, everything worked great, but every now and the , it responded with “cannot find router”. Frankly the solution of this issue is to remove the app and download again, hope this can be fixed for such a handy app.

Very user friendly. So easy to use

Please update for iphone x. Why are you guys so slow to update your apps with new features yet you release routers every month. What a joke. Well invest time on software as well not just on hardware.

Can’t use ‘Creat strong Password’ for WIFI. App and Router website don’t enable option for iPhone to ‘Create Strong Password’ for WIFI password - only app I’ve found that doesn’t enable this incredibly useful and SECURE iPhone setting

This app and product is useless. Just doesn’t set up. Can’t use parental control. Can’t log into app despite correct password

Block. Block system just awesome...need bandwidth monitor

Unusable since update. This app has been good up until the last update. It now won’t let me log in 95% of the time. I have deleted the app and downloaded it again and it may log me in immediately, after that when I open the app again it has logged me out and won’t let me login!!! Please fix this issue, it’s unusable.

Nice app. This is great app to see who is on your network and to control if they they have internet access. What would give it a 5 star rating is if you could add timers onto the router using the app.

Won't allow local login. Can't login to manage locally... won't accept the admin password....have to log in remotely.... password is correct because I use that same password on same device through the web app.... please fix

Good, though could be better. I love being able to switch off net access for the children at bedtime. Not all features are compatible with my Optus Netgear cable modem sadly.

Was good, now useless. When I first bought my Netgear D6000 this app was great. I could monitor traffic, implement parental controls, reboot router, etc.. Then one day it simply stopped working with the ever so useless message “NETGEAR router was not found or is not supported. Make sure that your mobile device is not connected to the router's guest network and that IPv6 is not enabled.” Despite being connected. I’ve rebooted, reset, deleted the app, scoured netgear forums, and nothing seems to resolve this issue. Yet, I’m still able to access ready share. Change the generic message to something more meaningful, or release an update to address the issue.

Excellent for parental controls. After a terrible start this app has now exceeded my expectations :-) This time last year I was trying find a way of policing our home network so I could grant differing access levels to me and my wife to that for my son. The Net genie app on the mac is horrible and crashes constantly. I tried the mobile app and it didn't even recognise my netgear router. Here I am one year later with a new router and everything has changed. The mac app is still terrible but the Mobil app makes it a breeze to set individual access rights for each user on the network. I can administer the guest network with ease and reboot the router at the touch of a button for those annoying moments Foxtel drop the line. Highly recommended if you want to be able to implement kid friendly web browsing on selected access points.

Doesn’t work.. The only reason to use this app is for parental controls. After setting up the dns account I finish up in one of those frustrating circles with a meaningless message “internet is not available. Connect your router to the internet.” Of course I’m already connected to the internet. This app is idiotic and frustrating.

Nice app. Very convenient and user friendly

Great when it’s working. Pls fix bugs. I have trouble to log in. There were few times I had to delete and reinstall the app in order to log in.

Great. This is a great app, but maybe next time, it could make this animation and all that better. But I do highly recommend this app.

Poor update 2/2/19 (update 9 feb). Can no longer log in. On all devices. App has become useless (totally) please fix. 9-2-19.... Sorry... we updated the router, and the app works fine. Note to others having same issue!

Rubbish App. So many bug and issue with this app. Overall product doesn’t offer basic functions like timers/time limits.

Useful app. Great app to control access, monitor devices and reboot when needed. Highly recommended to all owners of compatible routers

Remote Access. While the concept of this product is great, the remote access aspect is flakey. One day it will display a list of routers that can be accessed remotely, the next (with absolutely no configuration changes on any hardware or software), the list is blank. Netgear technical support are no help whatsoever, that’s if you can get in contact with them at all. I will be exploring better options for both hardware and software in future.

Terrible!. I downloaded this app to gain some control over the amount of time my children were spending on the internet. The app does not load properly all the time, when it did I could pause their devices, I then logged out and now when I’ve logged back in I can’t unpause them. Sometimes it doesn’t show their devices, other times it shows them but doesn’t give me the option to unpause, and when it shows me the option to unpause it and I unpause, it comes up an error message saying to try again. Very frustrated and unhappy!

D6000 - don’t bother. App allows a reboot and that’s about it. None of the functionality remote access or parental controls work. Only bonus is ability to reboot. But I should just get off my backside and reboot manually.

Parental controls - doesn’t work. Get the run around - won’t login, create open DNS account and can’t login. Thinks about it then goes back to login page. Frustrating will delete this waste of time

Parental guidance. Great APP! Control from any room. Helps guide our kids and minimises their electronic time. Thank you

New version does not connect to router anymore!!. Just make sure to backup your app before upgrading!! I was able to administer the router without any problems from my iPhoneX until I updated the app!! I have to manage the router from a Computer rather the iPhoneX. The password is correct, just the router cannot be found, even if I enter the proper IP!! This is very disappointing! It was a very good app!

Router no longer supported. I just downloaded the latest update to this app, and now all of a sudden the app no longer works with my router. Not happy!

Login issues.... Despite being connected to my Netgear's wifi, logging in just results in me being presented with a screen that says "connect to your router's wifi", then when I hit next I end up back at the login screen. Sigh 😒

D7000 not supported on new app. Can you provide an update for those who still have the D7000 since it’s not compatible on the new app. I won’t be upgrading for the sake of it if the product is working fine. I feel ripped off I don’t have functionality it should and is advertised.

Better than web interface. Although I need to constantly log in to manage my D6220, it’s interface is better than the web interface for basic functions. It’s missing many of the enhanced features you’d find on the web interface, but overall it saves the time and hassle of trying to navigate the admin webpage on your phone.

Don’t bother with this app just login with. Browser. I have used this app when I changed my router password the app can’t find the router. You are better off just typing the IP address and doing everything from there. The app is now useless for me. Can’t login with it. Keeps asking you to purchase the app fail

Update needed!. You guys really need to update the app, I can’t even use it with a router that used to be supported but isn’t since I updated the router. Please update the app.

Still no can’t find router. You are a joke. This update does nothing to fix this bug.

Awesome App. Only Complaint Is It Can Randomly Block Internet Access For Some Devices Still Love It Makes Life Easier

Terrible. Very cumbersome to set up only to find out that it does basic filtering that AdGuard DNS does. There is nothing much to choose. As soon as you press a button it takes you to the website. Delete.

Great app but.... A must have app if you use a netgear router however the update firmware function stopped working a long time ago. I’ll need to contact support. That’s why I can only rate you 4 stars

Unable to use it since update. I use the app to control my kid’s screen time. It was working fine a few months before. But recently I was no longer able to login. It said “login failure”. The only way to get around with it is to delete the app and redownload again. But it only works once. Everytime I want to use it. I have to go through the cycle of deleting the app and redownload.

Neat App works well.. Does everything it should. Shows network accurately. Cant seem to get traffic reports to work unfortunately. Great if this could be fixed.

Very good .. It can control from outside wifi range . Very friendly interface.

Great app for basic use. Great app for basic use and to determine what devices are on your network. However, I would love to see more advanced options come into play on the app such as remotely updating the router, accessing VPN files more easily, even a simple thing such as a built in smtp system to send the log files to an administrator, block Mac addresses with one click from the network map. However in saying this - the app is very functional and does everything a basic user would need with ease.

Just what I needed. This is great for our household. Never had any issues with it. I've recommended netgear to so many mums.

No openDNS. The app itself is great and most things work. The only thing is the parental controls using opendns. When I login to an account it says Cannot connect to internet. I know the details are correct.

Network map not working. Since the latest update the network map does not show the name of the device that’s connected. Only shows them as unknown.

No Remote Access. This seems to happen all the time but magically fixes itself. Can't remote access D7800AUS running latest firmware. I've done reboots, reset factory defaults, and reconfigured. Uninstalled iOS Genie App. Turned on remote access using web interface using local computer. Tried turning on remote access in iOS App (while local) but just won't work. Same thing happens with my R9000. Guess I'll just have to wait for that magician to reappear.

Stopped working. Cant login anymore. I have router DGND3700V2 and app gennie was perfectly working until suddenly it doesn’t. I can’t login anymore. I get the error “router not found or is not supported”. From the website though my router is supported. Password is correct because i use the same password connecting to the router using a pc.

Terrible cheap products. Can’t log into app anymore. Router interface is just frustrating. Going to Synology after this.

Good app, but where is landscape mode?. It’s a good app, with a significantly nicer interface than the app it replaces, but why is it fixed to only work in portrait mode when other similar apps from Netgear (such as Mobile) work in either mode?

Kiss💋. Thank goodness for Genie, for those of us who don’t see the need to have an online account for simple LAN management. Genie works well with my D6220.

Effortless. I only use it to do minor setting adjustments, but it has done everything I’ve needed it to do simply, easily, and without fuss/heartache.

Best. Best router out there!!

Lost Mojo...On iOS. ReadyCLOUD App is NOT ready for iOS anymore. Last Update destroyed iOS ReadyShare functionality. Can’t access my HDD files on iOS, now only works with Windows... And, oh my God REALLY ? Even in this app description they misspelled Netgear!! Imagine the quality control! Explains why ReadyCLOUD isn’t “Ready” Genie App crashes or freezes when using access control more than once. Other than that I upgraded my App Rating because it does a lot.

Update made the app unusable. Can log in or use the app to access my network at all.

Mr.. This app is fantastic. Now i can turn off the wifi on my daughter's phone and laptop without her knowing what is going on. specially when she's still awake at 2 in the morning on weekends. And when she's not doing her house chores, I just pretend browsing and no more wifi for her until she finish her chores and school works. 😀

Good APP. A little confusing at first because we have several routers on a network, registering through “routerlogin.net” does not register with the Genie APP, you must register again with the Genie APP for remote access. Other than that, I find it a little slow connecting, but effective for use.

Needs work. Try to connect remotely but never sends me an email to confirm my email address. Therefore cannot connect remotely.

Netgear genie. Great app makes controlling router so much easier, wish I had gotten this a lot sooner.

Very unreliable. I log in with user name on my iPad, it works. I log in on my iPhone and it can’t find the router? Same log in used.

Very good. Very good i like

Great app. Can always check if anybody else is using my internet also transfer my Picts to the storage on my router.

Très bien!. Pourrais avoir plus de paramètre encore.

Works well. Works well, parental control needs more options !

Need more control for advanced users.. I often need to open and close ports and unfortunately you can’t from this app.

Couldn’t login. Seems like a good app to have if I could actually login to it. It says I must enter a valid email and or password. I’m using the same one I used to create my account. So frustrating!!!!

Adequate & better than the upgrade. The was an adequate app that did most things properly - manage settings & devices. I would still use it cuz Linksys forced an upgrade that doesn’t work! Go figure! Hire better engineers!

Stopped working. Stopped working after update. Please fix.

doesn't sign in. Same problem as everyone else, doesn't sign in. Doesn't work at all

Awesome. I like how you can shut off the Internet and turn it back on without paying. Because I know some other apps that you need to pay to shut off the Internet

Frustrating!. The iPad app doesn’t work. It won’t connect to my network, I’m on my main broadcasting network connection and type in my admin pw for local connection, and it just sits spinning for several minutes saying ‘connecting.....’ and then just times out. Click on the link for their app support, and it takes you to their main website where your suppose to enter in your router model number, omg! I need their app support not my user Manual for my router! Hello developers???

Good. You can do whatever you need with this app

Like the app. Nice having control over what I pay for and how people are using it. Cheers!

Speed control. It will be better if app has an option to control download/upload speed to each device, and limit the data for individual connected devices.

Awesome app thanks for the great work.. Awesome app thanks for the great work.

More Icon. It is a simply app, but as he technology growth rapidly, more and more smart devices are in the market. But apps icon library hasn't been update since the day one. It has no smart thermostat, smart switch, smart plug, door bell, .....

This works really well!!. Thanks!!!

Parental Control not working. Can’t set filter level for each device in network map. It is broken with recent release. Please fix.

Update to firmware broke this app. I had recently update my firmware to my router and ever since I haven’t been able to log in with this application. I can log in just fine on my computer and my mobile phone when using the web browser. But this app no longer works.

Beyond my expectations. I've had trouble with my wifi connectivity throughout my house for years, I finally saw the review for this router and it's simply amazing. I finally have full bars everywhere in my house!! So happy and well worth the money, plus the app is amazing too!!

I like it. Very useful

USELESS App!!!. App will not let me change the username for logging in. It defaults to “admin” and will NOT let me change it to what it actually is on our router.

Doesn't connect?. I can't login using my iPhone. Says default password is "password" but that wont work. Router password won't work. Piece of junk.

Excellent product. Good work!

Needs more. Like the app.would like to see more options and a better layout.

In Agony. WARNING! We paid a lot of money to have the ease in our lives to be able to turn on and off the internet to our kids devices when we're out as it promised etc and that hasn't worked for quite a while now. Customer service was a long waste of time and they wanted more and more money to help us. Absolutely disgusted with this whole experience and the trouble it's caused our whole family. ZERO STARS would be our rating.

Very unsafe app!. If you turn remote access on and remotely login once. The App will remember your remote login email and password even you log out. If someone use you phone they can see your wifi password and everything. Very unsafe. Need fix that ASAP!!!

Awesome App. I love that I have full control of my internet and those that use it Keep up the good work 😃

Great app !. I find the app very user friendly and accurate. I feel safe knowing I can check which devices are connected to my router. It would be nice if we could update the router firmware directly through the app, but that’s not a deal breaker. Please keep up the great work !

Can’t log in. Haven’t been able to log in for months. Get error ‘invalid password ‘ . Suspect it doesn’t support 8 character passwords or maybe special characters. Also can’t find router when vpn is turned on iOS device.

It rarely works. The old app was a lot better. This version looks nice however I am almost never able to log into my x6 and when I do log in, it takes forever to load each feature. Terrible.

Pas super la MAJ. Belle amélioration performance Mais une énorme mais énorme perte sur le contrôle du routeur pour améliorer la qualité du réseau

I like it.. Very useful.

Still broken. R8000 this app is useless

Nice improvements. I am now able to login and manage my network with my IPhone. In the pass it wouldn't let me login. More features would be appreciated.

Won’t download. :(

Plus d’options. Plus d’options serait 5 *

Works great!. It works very well!

Nice improvement over the old app. No remote access for R7000 Nighthawk.. I like this app better then it's predecessor and it works great on an iPhone Se. However, remote access for my R7000 Nighthawk is now not supported? I'm really disappointed about that. If it wasn't for the loss of remote access I'd give this app 5 stars, but such an important feature to me and others is why I can only give it three stars.

Nice. It very easy to use

Works well. Works well. Good for monitoring traffic and changing basic router settings.

Mauvaise mise-à-jour. Le mappage du réseau ne fonctionne plus . Pourquoi ne pas tester votre app avant de la mettre disponible dans le App Store???

Awful. Told me to enter my email..and a password but tells me my email is not valid???? Cannot access my login as it won't recognize my password or email. Also downloaded the Genie on my desktop and now it tells me I am not connected to the internet. I think Netgear is purposely creating problems in order to charge for support. I agree...shame on Netgear for charging for support. My login was working before downloading the Genie. and now I can't even update. Wireless is working but if I want to change some settings, I can't. Pinged my ISP address and I am connected. Beware!

Wow this is awesome. Wow I’ve been using this app for a very long time and finally I’ve become much more happy with it. The UI is very clean and the app is really easy to use. I love that I can be in control with the devices that are connected to my network👍🏻

Definitely a learning curve. For those not used to configuring I can see where there would be problems. It’s not a “take it out of the box, plug it in and pick a password” type of product. I like all of the advanced controls with the OpenDNS but my kids do not...I rate it a 4 because it does what I need it to do and then some...but it could be a little easier to use.

Off to an impressive start. First time owning a NETGEAR router and so far I'm very impressed. Coupling this with an Arris sb6190 and it was literally plug and play.I had the app connected immediately and it's pretty nifty having so many tools and stats at my disposal. Running this app on an iPhone7+ and I've got no issues or complaints at the moment.

It just needs. Traffic meter doesn’t work when using router as access point. Should be an indicator on the network map if the device is offline or blocked. I don’t have all of my devices named so it’s quite confusing going into every device to see if it’s still paused.

Broke after recent update. Well the latest update to this app broke the ability to use the app. Restarted router and is working fine as long as I am not trying to log into it. Connected to the wireless on the router (c6300) and the app cannot find the router, tells me to connect to the wireless. Worse yet the web interface doesn't realize it is connected to spectrum, tells me to check the RF connection. Sure wish this would get fixed, but at least it is functioning even though everything is telling me it isn't.

Awesome app and useful app and upgrades. I give it a five star because you can fix almost all your problems with this app the thing that I wish it would do is restart your router when it’s best to restart when internet having problems

Great app!. I love being able to see who all is connected, who's pulling the most signal strength and then being able to pause their internet connection. You can reboot your wi-fi router from the app! This is an amazing and useful app! Kudos to NetGear and their team!

Stop blocking your children. Parents should be better at parenting and not have to rely on blocking their children’s WiFi when they do something wrong. Instead, they should do the job they signed up when they decided to have children and tell the what they did wrong, why it’s wrong, and then of course tell them not to do that. This gives them a sort of freedom which they will enjoy. So next time your child does something wrong, don’t go straight to blocking and actually talk to them. By the way I am a therapist that specifically works in parenting.

Better than other router apps. Ive used apps for the majority of other routers. Maybe my review is not representative of an end user since Im a CyberSecurity Engineer. This app is very easy to use, not many features just basic enough to control your router and lan. Most users leaving bad reviews are expecting a UTM or some sort of end point management tool out of their $200 router.

Remove user change password. The only problem I have is that I cannot change password with the app or remove users forever

Information. Information is wonderful and being able to control my Orbi from remote locations is awesome. I like knowing which devices are connected to my system and the the map “thingy” does just that. I wish I had some VPN access from Genie and that would make it perfect.

Network Map doesn’t work in the latest version. Network Map only shows one screen worth of connected devices now where I used to see 5 to 6 pages of connected devices. Actually, instead of a map view, a listing would probably be more useful. I hope this gets fixed soon as I liked being able to control access to my kids’ devices during dinner and school nights.

I used to love Genie. I've had my N600 router for a very long time, and only recently had to start doing the unplug and wait a minute routine to get it on the wifi network. Over the last few days, I couldn't get it back on the network, no matter what I did. I finally resorted to the factory default settings and now it's okay, but I know it won't last. Genie didn't help at all.

Devices from Network map disappeared. After latest firmware update, all connected devices are not showing up. I reinstalled the app as well but no luck. Again going back to their web url to control internet to devices.

Inconsistent and incomplete Map....lame!. Network map inconsistent in that frequently, not all devices appear. Reloading the map doesn't help in that sometimes a few devices show and other times several appear. Most of the time, most of my devices missing. After a few map reloads, I can no longer log into Netgear Genie and have to power off/on my router. Very frustrating to use this app because of all of this!! Real lame! Seems to me that this should work more consistently.... like, every time!!

Zero Product Support. Several months ago, I bought a Netgear Modem/Router for my home use. I followed all of the directions that Netgear provided. However, I was unable to successfully set up the modem. So, I contacted Netgear Support, lol. They never got back to me, lol. Several months later, and my modem still does not work. What’s worse: the warranty on the modem has now expired, which means if there really is something wrong with the product, I can no longer return it and get my money back! Virtually every week, I log onto Netgear’s Support page, and resubmit a trouble ticket, explaining to them that months have passed, and my modem still does not work. And still, I have not been contacted by Netgear for help! It’s beyond ridiculous. 😕 So, I cannot recommend buying a Netgear product, unless you are looking to throw your money at the wind.

At least it works. Nighthawk app is a joke and so is phone customer support. The nighthawk app won’t let me do anything with cable model c7800 because it says the firmware is out of date. It never worked and it’s the exact firmware that their website even says I should have. This app at least allows me to see how many people are on my network. I will NEVER netgear again.

Couldn’t use the app. I downloaded the app and the app required me to login of course so I entered all the required information. Then it said it was going to send a confirmation e-mail. That e-mail never arrived. Tried to have them resend the confirmation e-mail, however, every time it pops with an error when you ask it to resend the confirmation e-mail. I’ve been fooling around with it for over an hour and have failed to even use the app. My review will change if my problem changes.

Works like a Charm #1. I’ve dedicated all my equipment to Netgear and everything runs perfectly smooth. My ISP is SPECTRUM, which runs at or around 100 megabytes, have not had any issues whatsoever. The Genie keeps me abreast of any unwanted intrusive behavior. Also like the fact that I have the control over gets WiFi or not, so kids, mind your manners and stay in School.

Simple and Great!!!. Easy too use and stay on top of what’s pulling from your router and a round about what it’s pull in mbps is... I like it and think it helps me too refresh it from time too time and reboot it as well a the app makes it very easy and possible... thanks again netgear

The app made it a snap!. I set this router up for our H.O.A. The app made it a snap. I was able to plug it in and install it change all the default information in Less than 30 min. It was the first time I had used the net gear app to set up a router. I can tell you I will use it every time.

Wow. .... Hadn't used this app since I got my first router two years ago...... And now I'm blown away.... I see myself getting into this more often... Really gives me comfort to be able to administrate my home network with such ease..... Been buying Ntgear routers for over 6 years now..... And quite honestly have never disappointed me!!! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Great idea, terrible functionality. I love the idea of this app, but the actual functionality is terrible. It never lets me actually log in, though sometimes just does it on its own (luckily? concerning?). The pause internet function does nothing to pause the internet, despite indicating it is “working.” The network view is a theoretically great function, but often is missing a device clearly connected. I wish it was better, but unfortunately it really stinks. I like my Netgear router though, so there’s that.

R6400 stopped working in genie app after firmware upgrade. I was not able to use genie app after updating my R6400 router firmware. I was forced to use Nighthawk app which is not supporting live parental control. Nighthawk app supports live parental control only from R6400 v2 and above. I am really disappointed for suddenly forcing to use the new app without proper notification in firmware release notes. I bought this router only for live parental control and recommended to my friends also. I’ll stop using netgear products going forward

Not working properly!!!!!!. I’m not sure if this is since it was created or what but I got this app two weeks ago and by far this is one of the worst apps I have ever tried it works when is pleasures to work I have to log in more than one time to make it work if it works properly sometimes it shows me all the devices that are connected and other tells me that there are no devices connected when they are so I can get any access to them this app needs!!!! To be fixed!!!!!

Latest update blocks my router. The latest app update won’t let me manage my router anymore, telling me to use the Nighthawk app instead. There’s no reason for this. The genie app works just fine, while Nighthawk inexplicably wants me to log into a Netgear account first. I just want to manage the router inside my own home! I shouldn’t need to log in to anything else to do that! Blocking me from using the only functional Netgear router app WITHOUT warning means this is the last Netgear product I’ll ever be using.

It's great. I bought a netgear router after looking and comparing for a few weeks, got it all set up with a new modem, I love the internet, love the reliability, idk what all these other people are doing wrong, but I haven't had any problems with the service, the app, or the hardware.

R6100 router. This used to work ok, then after either a firmware update on router or app update it doesn’t let me login via the app anymore. Says password not correct. It’s been about 8 months and Netgear has not fixed it. I can login to my router via the desktop genie version and also the routers web interface just fine with the same password but not via the iOS app. I’ve deleted and reloaded the app and no luck. Come on Netgear get this janky thing fixed. This problem is well documented all over the net. Shame on you.

I have no idea. Well, supposedly, this is the old, working version of Netgear’s admin software that they force their users to use now. I have absolutely no idea because they “upgraded” my R6120 router so that I can’t even try out this app with it, and I’m forced to use the non-functional, time wasting piece of garbage “Nighthawk” app that doesn’t let you do ANY router admin settings. Sorry, Netgear, you’ve lost a 25 year customer this point. You messed up really badly.

Works for me. Dunno why all the others say it gives them issues. Works flawlessly for me. Running a Nighthawk X4S AC3200. Use my iPhone X to view what is actually on the network and have full control with No login issues or anything.

Great app at times. The app is great you can see every device n lock them but it sometimes unlocks the locked devices needs to be fixed and also they should put this for gaming modem routers be superb other than that I used to love it now with updates I like it went on a huge update diff please fix

Newest Version Not That Great. The latest update is crap. You guys made Version 3.1.52 worse than it was. Previous version was fine--simple with nothing fancy and it worked. The new version does not update the network page (to see active components) properly...have to constantly refresh multiple times instead of just once like before. Get your software developers to test out the updates before release your junk to the public. We are not your test group.

Doesn't provide any diagnostic. This app only provides a primitive set of tools and as such is only useful to turn off a device if you know which one you are looking for. While it does provide a map of devices attached, it does not provide any data to how much bandwidth or which of three bands a device is connected. These omissions make this app useless for improving or reviewing the performance of the router. It is more useful to simply log into the router where you can access all features.

Does not work half the time. I tried using Netgear Genie on CM7000 modem/ router combo for parental controls and pausing/resuming internet for kids on my Iphone 8. It does not work most of the time; either it does not show the nt map or when it does and i pause internet for a device it says ‘please wait’ and freezes. I like Netgear and all my nt devices are from them, but i will be switching to xfinity’s modem to get a decent parental control over my modem.

Seems to work fine for me scratch that!!!. This is an updated review. Since a recent update, which I did 2 days ago, the entire wifi system crashes about 15 minutes and requires rebooting- sometimes unplugging to get it going again. I am so sick of this system I'm taking it back to Costco and moving to a different brand!!!! Stuff it Netgear. I don't have the problems folks have with this app. Seems to work fine for me. I can shut off the wifi. Turn it on later- even while away from the house.

It’s not what I expected. The app looks OK at the beginning but it turns out that it is not reliable. I started to use it mainly to manage access control for my kids’ devices. Many times that I start the app it would have trouble logging in even though I am at home. The app can’t find the router. The access control feature doesn’t reliably show all devices connected on the network and also doesn’t reliably show the status whether they are blocked or not. It’s definitely time for an overhaul of app to improve access control management. In general I miss a super easy way to block a list of devices or put them on individual time schedules, e.g. some devices can not access internet after 10pm. Some stuff can be done but it is limited.

Frustrating Network Element Identity Loss. Never remembers the names of the network elements you enter. Build her name on your network map and it consistently and quite frankly constantly drops the name; the app offers the opportunity To identify each one of your network elements by characteristic( That includes an associated icon) and name. But after you’ve gone to the trouble to build them. The app always forgets. It doesn’t even rely on the attached device chart in your router database.

App works great - you have assign IP addresses. We’ve been using the app to turn WiFi on and off certain devices and it’s been working great. One tip - you have to assign each of your devices their own IP address or this app will not work. A little networking research will clue you in on how to use this app and the router effectively.

Horrible!!!. Excited and looking forward to parental controls for the devices my children use; disappointed that the parental control tab just says “Please Wait” with a spinning circle as if it’s loading (fooooorrreeevveeerr) but never actually loads. There’s really no point in the app other than to see whose connected, if you’re interested in that I suppose. BUMMER! Now the app say the WiFi is “not enabled” so no devices will connect. According to Comcast the WiFi connection is fine. Uugghh

Quick view of network. I’ve had this running on a iPhone se for 2 years without any problems. It’s an excellent way to get a quick look at the network and to implement updates in the router and extenders software.

New update blocks login. UPDATE.. I went in to factory reset through my computer. Noticed my original password was stored on my computer. I tried it on the app and viola. It works now. FIX THIS!!! Can’t get into app to login, now devices I blocked for the weekend are unable to use the router, because I can’t get in to unblock. Really annoying. Tells me login is invalid. If I have to buy a new router it will NOT BE NETGEAR EVER AGAIN!!!

Not working at all. I downloaded the app to manage my new ac1900 modem router combo I was exited after reading all I can do with the app, but I got disappointed after creating my account and using the app for the first time, I can’t do anything besides login to my account. I can’t set parental control because every time I try the app gets stock on a loading screen, I can’t see my network map overall I can’t do nothing, I tried erasing and downloading the app again but nothing works.

SLOW and inconsistent.. I have a c7000 v2. I get multiple errors trying to manage devices on it ("operation failed"). It takes 30 second to log in. 60 seconds to view the network. It takes forever to do anything in this app. And a function that it smoothly executed 10 minutes ago suddenly takes multiple attempts to execute again and it fails over and over.

Works great so far. Called xfinity swapped out wireless routers everything has been working for the most part. An an update for guest to log in it said error but it saved the update and worked. Small bugs to work out but so far very good

5 stars read for suggestions. I love the app. I can change the WiFi channels which is what I wanted to do in the first place. I logged in to my netgear router but it would be really good if you could manually change the WiFi channel for the AirPort Extreme that is hooked up to the netgear because I got the gear on channel 1 and the others on 6

Mind-numbingly slow and useless app. Don’t make a mistake and pause a device on the network, you may never see it again. I learned it the hard way. The “Network Map” is limited to 4 pages, I have 20+ devices... it randomly decides which devices to map regardless of whether or not the are hogging the bulk of the bandwidth. In an attempt to oversimplify home network management they have create a bastardized and completely castrated version of would would otherwise be a useful app.

Issues logging in. When i was able to log in I thought the app to be useful and reasonably well thought out. Was it awesome? No, but it was ok and usable. Unfortunately for weeks now i have not been able to log in - i just get an error message saying log in failed and that the password is incorrect. Its not - i can log in through my browser. I looked for a fix and over several forums this seems to cone up as a persistent issue across a number of versions and platforms. So in the end it only gets 1 star as i cant give it none.

Wish I didn’t need another app for parental control. When I did my research purchase a new router, I checked with the available ones to make sure I could have parental controls down to the device. When I first started with the router and the app it was fine and great. Now I need another app from another company to control the devices in my house. “Parental control” needs to be removed from all advertising.

Love this app!. One of the feature I use most is the pause feature. I can see all my home devices connected. If my kids spending too much time with the gadgets or tv I can pause the internet connection on the specific device.
