Casual birder. There is a lot there and you can switch between languages. It is a little bit difficult to navigate and it is expensive. I think they win partially by being the only choice, at least when I bought it. Not dissatisfied and happy to have that much info on my ipad/iphone when I'm running around.
Comprehensive Coverage. Pros: Comprehensive. Each entry has many drawings, some photographs, a range map, and several sound recordings. Also shows nests, immatures, and fledglings in many cases. Navigation is easy. Only choice I found for iPad/iPod/iPhone. (Probably why the charge so much! The USA Audubon birds has twice the birds, better navigation, and costs half as much). Cons: Does not enable annotation or establishing your own list. Does not have a facility to show like species. Cost is about double what it should be.
Robbery!. Much of the text from earlier versions has been removed (eg Black Stork is missing all the following sections now: behavior, population, movements, voice and breeding; all species seem to at least bd missing population now!). Nature Guides should offer users to opt for a full refund instead. This is no longer what I purchased!
Beautiful app!. Gorgeous illustrations, well-organized. I like how it lists all species in taxonomic order, by family. The other review says there aren't descriptions and bird calls, but this is incorrect. The app does include bird calls and descriptions. Just scroll along thumbnails at bottom.
Clunky & primitive. Lots of information but difficult to navigate. No easy way to switch between similar bird pictures or songs to compare. No way to annotate birds seen. Range maps and songs require too many clicks to find and are ignored when scrolling through pictures & BWP. Too expensive for such a clunky & primitive app.

Superb for the birder. My wife bought this - and after watching her use it on our recent trip, I just did the same. It is the only serious app. for the European birder - at least as good as iBird Pro is for North America. And when she couldn't figure out how to do something, and sent an email to the developers, she got a prompt and very helpful personal response. It has all the tools one needs - range maps, recorded calls, excellent descriptions, good illustrations (mixture of drawings and photos) - really makes bird identification a pleasure. Note that although the title implies a limitation to Northern Europe, we found it covered all of the birds we saw further south - of course this was not a systematic check. Cons - nothing worth mentioning. Recommended.
