FamilySearch Tree Comments & Reviews 2026

Holly R. Olmstead review of family Search. I started doing my family Geneology due to Covid. I got diagnosed with Castlemans disease and had to stay away from people, due to no immune disorder. My parents never talked about their family either. So these are my reasons I started this journey. I have never felt so proud of my family lineage like I do now!.. it makes me feel complete. I had relatives on the mayflower, several Presidents like George Washington links us to the royals , our blood line to President John Adams links us to the mayflower and many other historical events . I found my paternal grandmother was a American Native Indian and her real name from her tribe. I’m struggling with my mums side Idiaquez side , due to translations Spanish to English. I found my Aunt Anita’s son who was adopted into the Adams family and we are now talking on FB . I was told of him when my Aunt was diagnosed with cancer , so in away he was always with family. My journey will not be complete till I finish my mums side though which I know I will get their eventually.

I recommend this to everyone. In short, if you’re looking for an app to make a family tree, this is it. It’s easy to operate (for old and young), completely free, and tends to fill in gaps for you with minimal effort on your part. I recommend it to everyone. I’m definitely on the younger side of this app’s user base; I first downloaded it when I was fourteen and am about to turn nineteen. Most everyone on this app is people my grandparents’ age, but that’s kind of the appeal of it. I’ve run into distant relatives that I wouldn’t have expected to even know how to operate a computer on this app. It’s nice to have a tiny digital connection with someone you might never meet otherwise. The way this app operates is incredibly easy if you need it to be and very complicated if you want it to be. In some ways, it’s grown with me. I built my original family tree at fourteen by asking my remaining grandparents for their parents’ names and birthdays. Now, I’m working on solving my great great grandmother’s parentage, one of the few blank spots left after my tree connected with others. Less importantly, I love the feature that allows you to find out if you’re related to a specific person. It’s weird, but if you ask a friend for a deceased blood relative, you can find out if you’re at all related. My friend and I found out that we were 32nd cousins!

Impressive archive. I have been collecting family tree information since 1974 but for past 20 years had taken a break and the past month refocused on completing and publishing family tree. During my hiatus the Internet happened and Family Tree leverages the new technology. After 15 minutes on the site was astonished by how comprehensive, accurate and complete the archive was. In fact on one side of family went back one generation further than I had completed. I am excited and looking forward to posting pictures of family members generation back that have been entrusted to me by my grandparents and parents. This is the archive I want to invest time to update for future generations. I have a wealth of information to share, that includes pictures, stories and historical information for my ancestors. I have invested Hundreds of hours and many trips around the USA compiling, picture taking and documenting my family’s history. Hoping the archive allows for including some additional family details.

Buggy. Love it for what it does but it has a lot of bugs. Loading and tagging photos is a problem. One I loaded and it dropped it saying it had been loaded already but it wouldn’t show up so now the photo can’t be shown at all. It’s hard to track duplicates. When adding info it would be good to be able to visit profiles of each person then pop back to the hint without it closing out half finished. When suggesting a person, I need to see their family info and children because there are so many people with the same names. I’d like to be able to sort hints like deaths and marriages to do in order. Census records should be able to be listed in order. There isn’t an ability to add information to names and dates of birth coming from hints without manually going back to each profile repeatedly. I look at a census record with more information I would like to be able to enter it. I don’t like that it forces me to enter a sex of a person when I’m not sure when it isn’t stated and the person and their spouse have gender neutral names. Relationship types like adoptive, step, etc are not easy to add or adjust. Step siblings don’t show up like they should in family listings. Census and obits often have neices and grandchildren that can’t be added. If I know a sibling but not their parents I can’t add them. That is also frustrating. All that said, I love the collaborative work here. The more information we get on a person the clearer the pictures become. The personally submitted stories and tidbits about people’s lives is priceless in value. I understand I even have a local research center. How cool is that?

Wonderfully Useful!. I love that it is searching for documents concerning my ancestors all the time and suggesting them. Then in those moments of free time when I may have previously spent minutes scanning Facebook or Instagram, I can now be attaching documents to my ancestors and search for other documents to better compile my family’s genealogy; our family history! Being able to see the memories and photographs that others have shared is great too! It’s allowed me to see photos of my grandmother as a youth, something I hadn’t seen before. There’s a new function under the settings menu called “Map My Ancestors” which creates a map of your ancestors’ life events. Who needs 23andMe or other DNA testing, right? Well, it’s not quite the same, but this is free!

Personal Ancestral File - FAMILY TREE. I’ve been using Family Tree for many years, it’s the only system I’ve ever used, wouldn’t use any other. Especially loves the NOTES section where there’s enough room to write a book on someone, that’s appreciated. Now Family Tree is online where I can enter, correct or adjust data on my family. I descended from Stonington and Belfast, Maine. My father passed away at 33 years old, I was only 14 which is where I acquired my interest in my family. At 35, my daughter Jayme Lynn Nickerson was 7 years old when she was struck and died by a man driving his girlfriend’s uninsured pickup truck 39 years ago June 20, 1985 so Family Tree has put them and the rest of my family on the map for “Whom It May Concern” which is what I’ve titled my work after Daphne Aurora Tower, my grandmothers youngest sister who called her work the same, for the generations to come. My father is Lester Arnold Nickerson, my mother is Pauline Lillian FiField which is not her last named as she never really found out who her father was. Thank you Family Tree for BEING THERE.

Bad Programming. Records are programmed to be found via last names but on census and formal records, after surname changes, records for those people have to all be manually found. However if you include all surnames in the profile of the person, all their records will appear and that’s more than half the population of the entire world being missed. Either the standard of cataloguing names needs to change, or they need to hire better programmers because ancestry, my heritage, wiki tree, gedmatch, familytreedna, etc… and ALL other genealogy sites do not have this issue. It’s a super simple fix but a HUGE accuracy problem for this site and I recommend using anyone else but familysearch till it’s fixed & signing up for all public libraries you can to get the free information that familysearch could easily give better access to that your local libraries already provide for free without the extra steps you will need to do to get their programming to work accurately for your genealogy work.

Attempting to establish accurate Davidic lineage. I am personally attempting to establish an accurate lineage dating back to Jesus, or to establish my lineage back to the Royal line of David. The information my family has kept and the knowledge that we do definitely descend from European royalty for many generations up until circa 1450 on my grandmothers side, and the definitive knowledge of my descent from the St John family, as well as descending from Frank royalty leads me to believe that the possibility of establishing the lineage accurately and with confirmation using written accounts of royal and noble lineage of Europe; I am hoping to be able to establish a legitimate lineage using this app. Any genealogist who might be interested in helping would be greatly appreciated. My family has been well respected for many many generations dating back to the times when we shared the privilege of once being of royal descent. Also English royal family members were all known to have had webbed toes; which I also have. My mother said it’s a trait from when we were one English royalty. The signs point to legitimate descent! Shall we establish a legitimate lineage back to Jesus??!

Crazy how fast you can learn your ancestry. My parents and family spent decades doing genealogy, it used to take a lot more time and dedication. This app has helped bring genealogy into the 21st century and made learning personal ancestry an easily accessible, fun thing to do. We were never sure what became of one of my great-uncles (I thought he died young) and now I know everything, thanks to military service records and census records. I feel like it’s really honoring him that we’ve got his story straight. We’ve also been able to actually confirm stories our grandmother told us about life in their small town and we’ve been able to piece it all together, especially through historical phone books available online. I was always told that my greatgrandfather was a blacksmith so seeing his name and occupation in the phone book in the 1930s is incredible. I never even knew that existed. You can really just jump on in, whichever branch of the family needs work done, find out your history, get ready for temple work, attach suggested documents, it’s truly amazing. I’ve updated my review to five stars, my last review I gave three stars because the app kept crashing. That’s been fixed and I really appreciate it.

All the Way Back. I've so enjoyed learning about my ancestors through Family Search, and I sincerely thank all those who have done the research to make that possible. Here is the most remarkable aspect of my family tree mapping: I traced my lineage all the way back to Adam and Eve. Mostly I followed my maternal lines. Sometimes I'd hit a dead end and have to backtrack and proceed with a different line. Finding William the Conqueror, kings and queens, and Biblical people like Methuselah in my ancestral line was an extraordinary discovery, but nothing topped the astonishment I felt when "Eve" and "Adam" appeared. I thank the other contributors who have added photographs especially. I now know what my second cousin twice removed looked like, as well as my circuit-riding Baptist preacher great grandfather. Personal history and world history have melded.

Family Search Allows Me to Leave Photos and Stories for my Childrens Children. I love learning the names of my ancestors and I love that anyone can post their pictures and stories to family search because that means all the cousins are sharing. I especially love the fact that it allows a safe place for me to put my most prized pictures and priceless stories of my family that I have gathered from parents grandparents and great grandparents. Luckily I had most of my information in family search when my external hard drive crashed and I lost my other source. But I feel like family search is a place that my children can go to locate this information anywhere anytime. Thank you so much for this heaven sent miracle.

Confusion. I have enjoyed FamilySearch for many years. However; after a second husband was added to my great grandmother’s biography, my own great grandfather’s information was cast into oblivion. Even though I choose my ancestor as the preferred spouse, the results I get when searching my family tree are for the second husband and have no relationship to my own history. Also, recently I have noticed numerous instances where a subject or his father is listed as his own spouse or child. Information that I entered, with documentation, has some times been altered by a non-related contributor. For instance, I know when my father died. I was there. Perhaps our freedom to edit biographies has gone too far and needs to be left to responsible professionals. FamilySearch has provided me and many others with countless pages of family history but, I can no longer trust that it is valid. What a shame.

Concerns. I like family search especially the things that I can put on. The thing I do not Like are the people who do not even know close family members to me can go in and change The data I have entered from personal sources that are reliable. These are often people I have never heard of and I have no way to get a hold of them to tell them that their information is incorrect . If I find them I just block them so that they can’t see what I do however they still change the records. And when I have asked the family history Library about this they have told me that I just needed to be kind and patient. It is hard to be patient when you are the one who has kept family history for years to have a stranger go in and base their records on the census and scrap the whole family. Yet nothing seems to be able to be done to stop these trolls. Sorry I think you could protect those of us who do a better job and make them check closer records

Genealogy. I just love searching genealogy, I am 83 so know I make mistakes, mostly when I work on it so long I get rummy. My husbands family are not the same faith and hadn’t had an interest in genealogy, but for some reason when his grandmother was I’ll she handed me a ledger with her brothers and sisters in, I had 9 children and hadn’t started working on genealogy, after kids were grown I began, I now have many of his lines 14 generations. I also work on my line, I have one of my daughters that has the bug for researching and one sister that is really into genealogy. Your program is awesome. What more can I say my p blessing said I would do genealogy and it’s my favorite pastime and I love putting families together, one of my sons has even taken an interest, your program just keeps getting easier to use. Love love it

Relationship. Is there any way that you can make it possible to Copy the relationship on anyone you find that is related . In relationship can you make the font larger so you can read the relation to me up top it would make it easier on the iPhone! Why is it that my famous relatives are only posted for a short period of time?? Will AI be used soon on helping Researching one’s family and relatives with the latest in technology? Why is it you can only add so many researchers contacts to chat to?? When you find relatives records abroad why can’t they be read as you can with records from the States?? Why can you only see up to the 13th Great Grandparents?? What’s involved in taking your family history and genealogy and relatives and pictures and records and published in a hard back book and if you need so many what is the cost per book and do you put the book together as a completed products? Just curious some time in the future I would be interested in having so many published as heirlooms for my family?? Will you be able to colorize and repair old black and white pictures in the near future by familysearch?? Thank you for taking my questions in consideration in order to enhance familysearch asap!! Yours truly, Hugh Fawcett.

The reason ‘apps’ exist is for this collaborative effort to connect everyone. All of my other apps are attempts at getting things done or finding distractions from getting things done - and this is the one thing that matters to ‘get done’: the linking of the whole human family in a way that helps us change from fear and worry to love and compassion when we understand our wholeness (and cast off the illusion of our separateness). The app is THE place to save preserve memories that matter. It is THE place to be social and share meaningful memories. It is THE place to ponder/meditate/pray/think/rest and prepare for all of the interactions we are meant to have IRL. So yeah, this app, without ads/subscriptions has levels without end (generations in all directions to explore) and consistent ‘newness’ and unique experiences. It is easy to participate (all other wikis are practice for this ultimate wiki), allows for changes/updates, and there are many levels of people willing to help you learn. Find what you are looking for, even if you don’t known what you are looking for, with the Family Tree App by FamilySearch.

Wow. So I always thought that did not really have any family . My father was not around , so Recently I was curious if he had passed so I googled his name . His name was not anywhere but another name popped up . My dads brother . He had died one week earlier and I found an obituary with photo. From there an explosion of relatives..Incredible just incredible… According to this site/app I can trace my family to 5 members on the mayflower , and It shows that i have some extremely famous relatives (I won’t brag) lol…. And the very best thing is the photos . There is a pic of my great great great great grandmother and I thought it was a picture of my mother . Incredible ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️My husband and brother think that this is a scam due to the famous relatives pages . I want to print up photos and stories , people ect and have it all together for future generations of my family . One day I’ll be the past and a I’ll be a 17th great grandmother or something. I love this app and site . Thank u so much

Love it but there are some flaws. The app works well and I love the updates. However, there is a big flaw in the system. I’ve started seeing names in my close family tree, families I’ve been researching closely and know well, reserved by distant relatives and then shared with the temple. By distant I mean go back 11-15 generations and then come down a different line, then go over to a spouse and go up the spouses family tree. There are people that distantly related somehow reserving names on my direct lines making it more difficult for me to do the work. There should be a simple way for me to go to the temple and ask to do those family names. The temple should be able to pull my family names from their “temple system”. I still think it odd that someone so distantly related is working on a branch they aren’t really related to but at least it wouldn’t hinder closer family members from doing their work. This even happened with a family member’s great grandfather and they haven’t been able to do his work yet.

Like this app a lot, but it could be improved. Great for quickly viewing messages from other researchers without having to wait until I get home and boot up the full website. Also comes in handy for checking details when I’m at the library or courthouse with the hard copies and ancient micro-media (yup, we still need to use those from time to time, don’t we). One problem I have found is an inability to see a person’s children when the parent has had more than one spouse. Although clicking on one of the spouses will normally provide a list of the children by that spouse, in the case of a divorce where BOTH spouses have married again, the tree comes to a complete dead end because you can’t see any of the children of either spouse. It would also be nice to have the option to switch to a descendancy view from time to time, but I can live without that.

Better with Time. I remember when Family Tree began many years ago. Decades ago I had to write to countless government departments all over the world in order to obtain records of may ancestors. It was expensive and seemingly took forever. Not many people did family history then. They didn’t have the patience. When Family Search began it was a Godsend. It wasn’t perfect, but it continually got better as kinks were worked out. Still today new advances and features are being introduced. My accomplishments through Family Search have kept my family even closer as with each visit there’s always lots of questions and discussions. Thanks to all that have been involved in creating Family Search and all the improvements.

Their are Angel's in our Family. This app is incredible in that I can now do virtually everything from my I-phone. From digitizing documentation in my possession to share with others to searching for ancestors and records, merging duplications, attaching sources and documentation, photos, stories and other information. This app has allowed me to connect with family i didn't know existed. Most important, this app has allowed me the privilege of getting to know my family and ancestors and develop a deep connection and love for them as I learn of and share in their joys and and struggles in this life. Whenever I feel alone, sad or depressed I can just open my family search app and I can feel my family cheering for me and encouraging me to keep going and never give up.

Our Relatives. I love the fan charts. My husband is a great great grandson of a LDS prophet Lorenzo Snow. It was fun to go back way, way back on that noble line! So far back- well— It is great to read the interesting things that were written about him and the occurrences happening around him. My ancestors - some of them, knew him and some of his, and they interacted with each other. I like to have the pictures of all of our ancestors as much as I can see. We will all be dead and gone one day and it will be interesting to know that we will be ( I need to put my information in) somewhat remembered too! I enjoyed the famous ones that I am related to, distantly. It’s interesting what the computer can do! However, God is no respecter of persons- we are all His children! Past, present and future! We are all important and have our time and place under the sun!

The BEST most ACCURATE genealogical app!. This is the BEST most ACCURATE app I have found for my genealogical research. My husband & I are 8th cousins via European ( primarily Saxe-Cohberg- descendants of Leopold King of Belgians, father of Prince Albert younger brother of Queen Victoria ) Tudors, ;Henry 7th) Plantagenets, (Stewart ( 3rd Earl of Lennox) etc Our DNA tests & The information obtained via thus user friendly app match up perfectly, migration patterns Etc & The data base is the most comprehensive app available! If your serious about wanting to know you’re family history this is an essential tool & so much fun as a hobby! They have features like “view this “ & “relatives around you” and you can see also how connections are made around you with others & also famous people in history. For example I’m 4rth cousins with President George Washington☺️

Absolutely Amazing!. I really enjoy this app. It makes it easy and fun to find your ancestors or other family history. I enjoy ancestry in general but I go to ask my family members about things so I knew it was correct. You can collaborate with others on your family tree and even see your relationships to people up to 15 generations back! I do have some little things like I would love too see if I have an ancestor for both my parents. There have been multiple instances where I have seen the same person within the ancestry on either both sides of my great grandparents, grandparents, or parents. While it is distant it would still be cool to see how the common ancestry came about. Other than that I highly recommend this app!

Confusing. I have worked with family search for many years. It is so frustrating to have application change after change. Instructions for the changes are never clear enough, and the results of those changes have sent me back generations with many hundreds of repair is based on the way the application “works“. I do not like the open access to all people since not all people are certified genealogist as I am, and their lack of understanding, and absolute ignorance of the way that records are found, and criticality of sources are often not included have absolutely derailed my research. People need to be accountable and there is no accountability in family search. I am a family history consultant. The current system (and display colors) are hard to follow. It is not only frustrating but embarrassing to try to teach. Please stick to the basics, require training, and let people make contributions after it is approved and accepted by the tree owner.

Margaret Shirley San Souci. I have been researching my family history for almost 20 years. In the beginning I was using Family Search and Your Folks; a French genealogy database. But the names are so different in French to English and for a time, I paid for Ancestry until it got too expensive, so I stopped doing research. It has been some years since I used Family Search. Now, I am excited about doing genealogy all over again. It is a new beginning for me now that I moved after my husband died of Covid 4 years ago. I find all sorts of new ways to research my legacy on Family Search that make researching so much better. Yes, I am not saying that there is nothing new to learn- there is, but it has been less than a day and I have already learned so much. The New Family Search is wonderful! It must have taken ages to complete the new platform for users. I am one person who says a huge Thank You shout out to all who contributed to making Family Search a "state-of-the-art" depository for all mankind. And as a retired person, it whittles the day away, I get so involved in learning new information about all who have gone before me. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see and experience your new changes! Margaret aka Meg S San Souci-Umphrey

Love Family Search but. Have enjoyed using the web version for years and have had very few problems. I now find the app for my IPhone very convenient; however, navigating from tree to records search and attaching source records has been challenging! I like saving the source indexes in my my own folders and then attaching them once I'm confident they are truly a match; however, very often I'm not able to find my way back to them. Also, after a historical record search it's easy to mistakenly use the upper left back arrow and often hard to find the "back to results" arrow that sometimes appears in the lower left of the screen of the opened record screen. So I end up having to do the search completely over. I will be calling for help this week and expect I receive the same patient and thoughtful assistance as I have many times in the past.

Great App. Could use a little refinement.. The app is a fantastic database for having to keep track of so many family records. There’s some minor things that would be great if they could be improved. - Ancestor pictures: Seems like you should be able to click/tap on their picture to see an enlarged picture, but instead when you tap on their picture it takes you to the option to edit or replace their picture. I don’t want to edit, I just want to see a bigger picture of what they looked like - Homeland discovery: I thought the homeland discovery feature was a little glitchy. It was a little difficult to pan and zoom around the map. I was using an iPhone 7 Plus. Maybe it’s smoother on other devices. This feature has a lot of potential innovation for future versions. It would be could to integrate it with google/apple maps virtual mode to see what the streets look/looked like. It would be cool to see virtually what their headstones look like. Just some thoughts.

This app will improve your present and future.. This is one of the only apps I’ve ever used that I can say has improved the quality of my life. Not only that, but it will improve the quality of every generation going forward. Instead of wasting my time on social media etc… I spend some of my free time writing stories from my kids lives to put into their individual profile on this app… and recording memories and saving pictures as well from my life and my kids lives. I also am able to record memories of my parents and grandparents as well as read stories and memories and view pictures that others have posted… in order to help me to learn more about where I came from. Makes life a lot less lonely, and a lot more like a team effort where I know there are others pulling for me and rooting for my family’s success behind the scenes on the other side.

We know so much about our family now!. Family Search has made such a wonderful difference to our family. Before discovering it and learning about where we came from, we had no idea who we were! Now we know about the Cherokee in our family who fled to Wisconsin and created a village, we know about the Revolutionary War soldiers and the French-Indian War soldier and even a soldier in King Philip’s War. I even found ship records, letting me know when our Russians came to America and on which exact ship! The app works great; it is often being improved. My only Request: I like to leave tasks to other relatives as it’s fun to do, and also it takes much time to go through the tasks, so would like if I could also view the task list for my exact line (grandparents, not one mixed with siblings of grandparents).

Family History Simplified. I’m not great at family history work. I get overwhelmed almost immediately. One feature I especially love about this app is the tasks feature. From there I can select a relative and review a document that may have my relative in it. The app provides an easy to understand side by side comparison of vital information such as birth date and parents names to decide if the document is indeed about my relative. When I’ve decided it is I can attach it to my relative. This not only gives us more details about relatives, it may also lead to finding previously missed individuals that are also on that record. In this way even though I don’t understand all of the ins and outs of family history work I can make meaningful contributions.

Irresponsible and offensive. Someone erased my mother and substituted my widower and deceased dad’s second wife as my mother. It was shocking to me, and painful to me. I called Customer Service, and was told that the app had some problems (they were very vague about these “problems,”). They then started to explain how to fix it. I told the “Sister” that the application needed to be fixed. She completely ignored me, but was angry because I “wasn’t listening” to HER. I asked to talk with supervisor. She refused to do so, saying, “they will just tell you the same thing.” I told her that I wanted to hear them say it to me then. I eventually asked for the name and number of General Counsel. She refused. Then she hung up. This entire program needs to be reexamined. Additionally, when someone has more than one marriage in their life, then there is an option to call one of the spouses as the “Preferred Spouse.” Really? They can’t love everyone they married? One spouse is PREFFERED over others? By whom? Do we put preferential words in my dead Dad’s mouth??? I feel a lawsuit coming on…

Don’t trust the trees. FamilySearch is great for finding sources on your ancestors. Its the best thing about it outside of being free. I encourage you to use it for that purpose when compiling your family tree. Just don’t trust the family trees, which are a mix of fact and fiction. Anyone can edit trees- this includes both people who have the actual correct information as well as those that that don’t- and don’t know the difference. There are also those that have their heart set on being related or descended from someone and will deliberately fudge the tree to make it happen. Go back far enough and you’ll find you’re descended from myths (like King Arthur), people we know were childless (like Jesus Christ), and famous ancient writers like Sophocles and Homer. I had an ancestor who was living in England. Next thing I know their father is from Poland and his brother just happens to be the most famous Jewish Rabbi of Poland. There are parts of my tree that I have done tremendous amounts of research on, using baptismal, marriage, and death records and censuses of the area, making a solid case. Overnight the whole thing is upended by some guy in South America who is operating on hearsay. I don’t use the trees. I don’t trust them, save as suggestions as to where to look. But I use the sources and I compile my tree somewhere else.

So intuitive!. I love this app. I've found so many ancestors and have discovered so much personal information about their lives. I've come to know my ancestors through this app. I love how it sends me hints and newly discovered ancestors in my tree without asking. This app keeps me on my toes always reminding me and pulling me back into my family tree through emails and reminders! Temple ordinances are so simple to prepare now because you can simply bring your phone with the barcode from the app and the temple will print your cards when you arrive. I've developed a new love of family history because of this app and a feel the spirit of Elijah in my life daily because of what this app does! So grateful for The Church of Jesus Christ and the advancements it's making in the field of geneology! It's amazing. No app is perfect so hence four stars! But it's getting there!

My Ancesters. I appreciate all the work that is done in connection with Family Tree. I love my ancestors and all they did in their lives that brought me to the place I am today. I love that much work was done on my lines that gave me the knowledge and joy it brought me when I joined the Church at 17. I didn’t know that my Great Great Grandparentseri Stephen and Hannah Markham were early members joining in 1834 and 1836. Hannah and my Great Grandfather David Markham, 18 years old at the time in the early 1850’s, left Utah for Northern California to join Hannah and Stephen’s older son’s Warren (Catherine Ann Jones) and William Whiting, never married. David married Emeline Conrad and raised a family , including my Grandfather, David Andrew (Alice Parks). He became Chief of Police of Willows, CA. In 1940 he was shot and killed in the line of duty. My Father Edgar Hanford Markham Sr. Met and married my mother Elberta Charlotte Abel in Willows when my mother came there to work. My father was elected Mayor of Davis in his middle 60’s. After Hannah and David came to California the Church faded from their lives.

Very convenient. I love the app. So much easier than in the old days of looking endlessly at microfiche or books at the country Courthouse, or even the first online stuff which was still searching the books only in the convenience of your home. Now it almost comes to you.(IF it is correct) you are relying on other people doing there work correctly, and many do not. I have found errors. So check out the information. Sometimes there are two families living a few blocks from each other (with the same name or similar names of mother and father- some families had the habit of giving all boys the same first name and different middle names or all got the same middle name. If they married girls with similar names.) that are getting put into one family. I have also had aunts and uncles of mine being listed as deceased on these records. When in the newspaper obituary they are listed as siblings of someone else that has passed away.

Difficult to use, lack of information.. After using ancestry over a three month period, with only three names, I was able to search and find relatives back to 300AD. I find family search very difficult to use and after three days of adding relatives and searching for already known others to continue filling my tree, I’m finding NO information- on people I already know. I rather feel as if I’m filling your base and that feels fairly sketchy to me as I know the LDS reasoning and disagree fully with it... I came to learn more, and mainly because I found a “book” of my relatives on your site that I had to join to view and now I can’t access it or locate it, and I’m not sure how to flip through a 300 page book, one page at a time or if I can add it or buy it? This has so far been a useless process and waste of time for me… However my adopted mother put in three of her known relatives and your base had information back to 500 AD on her screen in five minutes. That’s quite sketchy to me if you are aligned with other sources.

I love this app!. I have used this app to research my entire family and a number of friends. I have found birth and death records, copies of personal letters and wills, land deeds, land grants for military service, and, oh, the history I have learned. It’s fascinating to read about your ancestry and realize they actually fought in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Indian Wars, the Civil War (fighting on both sides of the war); even draft records for WWI AND WWII. Or, that your ancestors lived in Europe during the Black Death, when hundreds of thousand of people died. Or that some ancestors were members of the Order of the Knights of the Fellow-Poor Soldiers of Solomon, known as the Knights Templar! I have ancestors from Ireland, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark , Sweden, Switzerland, Russia, Egypt, Iran, Afghanistan, Israel and Saudi Arabia. Doesn’t that make you think! I have actually made contact with a number of people that actually shares my DNA; cousins 1, 2, 3, even 5 times removed. What a trip! I LOVE THIS APP!

Improve! Improve! Improve!. The app is great but it could be even better. There are few records of my family so I have to add everything myself. This is not a problem but there are a few problems that can improve the app. 1. I would really like to keep my family tree so no one can see it and I really want to have complete access to everything including changing the status of a deceased person to living. Well if it’s my family tree then I have the right to do whatever I want with it. 2. There are many information you can add to a person. This part includes many useless things but not the most useful thing, Cause of Death. I really wanted to add the cause of death of my ancestors but I was forced to add a note and then write the cause of death there. I would really appreciate it if you add this option to “Add Information”. You can also add an option to add diseases so we can tract genetic diseases through our ancestors. 3. Enable an option where you can add a sibling with an unknown parent. So for example, I know my 2nd great grandmother’s sister but not the name of my 3rd great grandfather or 3rd great grandmother so I’m unable to add any siblings to my 2nd great grandmother.

Marriage Certificates are Major Issue of bad connections. In the rush to move tech advances, you have a failed algorithm that makes suggestions for in laws based solely on first names. This epic failure of no rules and exceptions presents everything from deceased children to siblings as in laws. Furthermore, there’s no way to dismiss the suggestion, so one click combines them to multiple people causing improper marriages and children connections. I’m sure this was to avoid the duplicate record issue which is so prevalent in your system. But a correct duplicate is a far better issue than incorrect connections that people are accidentally making on your bugged suggested system. Major programming failure here.... how many thousands of incorrect connections are in your system now? For a people so”into” record keeping, this makes no sense. Tune or turn off suggestions on in laws, or create a dismiss option to clear the bad suggestions. One accidental click creates two connections that are dead wrong. It must really eff with your temple work eh?

Mr Larry Fisher. Ancestry keeps me going at 83. My only faults are the media gallery is useless as it need to be able to alphabetize photos by family name first and not take out of area you are in to god knows where. I correct a photo in sort A to z and when I am done it takes it somewhere else instead of allowing me to put entire family together in alphabetical order. I find many that are almost in alphabetical order (most that I did) but they are scattered in other groupings. I want and everyone I speak to want the whole media to be it in one group with all alphabetized except for unidentified at the end and when they are fixed they are put up above in order. It is simple programming to fix it. If you fix above item I will die happy

Family Tree Rating. The greatest strength of this app is that it is open to everyone to make additions and contributions to the “One Grand Tree.” Unfortunately, that is also its greatest weakness. A tree open to the general public to alter and append will inevitably become corrupted with wrong connections and sloppy assumptions. Nevertheless, such risks are worth tolerating because the more people who are welcomed, unhindered, to add family knowledge which only they may have, the better off we all are. Though frustrating, correcting mistakes, is better than missing out on important information which is made available by “amateurs” who are trying to contribute to a good cause. We all begin as “amateurs,” and only become adept at this important work as we painstakingly come to understand the importance of documentation and careful and meticulous attention to detail. This app provides excellent hints and tasks and new records as they come to light which are easily added to individuals in your tree and which then become part of the documented record. Even if attached in error, it is better to have them than not—because it sheds light on what must be done to correct the record. Correcting records seems at first to be rather intimidating, yet it becomes quite intuitive and more logical the more it is practiced. Yes, refinements are still needed (particularly the ability to leave notes for others who will be researching and tampering with the work you have done), but this app is an indispensable tool for amateurs and professionals alike.

Mary Ethel (Smith) Surtees. To darn many people writing and adding what they think are facts which are not. Like “Mary Ethel (Born Smith)” they said she died in Senior Bexar Texas.” My aunt Mary Ethel (Born Surtees) her daughter told my in 1983, that Her father came home from San Antonio (which is Agee miles north east of Senior) and told the family at home near Senior. Her brother Harold (the oldest at the time) ran from the house and went to his grand mother who lived the next farm south of the Surtees farm thru the fence to Smith road where she lived. Her cried hard, he wanted comforted from grand ma Smith. Where do these people get off making up these things. I graduated from Brigham Young University in 1992 at which time I had a professor in genealogy whose name was Stevenson that had the bookstore right down off of the campus told us one day that he spent his Easter vacation redoing President George Washington’s temple work I don’t know how that could be possible but he said he found an air in his birth place it was a different county that had been done before. He should’ve known better but he just wanted to redo somebody famous a redo somebody’s temple work that’s already been done as far as I’m concerned they sit in the temple redoing peoples temple work because a day is wrong my place is not exactly the way they think it should be and they absolutely waste their time doing that when they could be doing it for people who need it done.

Microfish to the miracle of the fishes. I remember back in the 70’s going to Brigham city with my Mother to the genealogy library, it was state of the art scrolling for hours on the funny black and white screen and enjoying finding pictures of our relatives and friends from the past helping others in the GL (genealogy library My beautiful Mother taught me how important it was by example to find all our generations back to Father Adam and Mother Eve. Later after serving in the Texas Houston East Mission and the the Arizona Tucson mission I had the honor to work the veil in the Logan temple and take our brother Michael Ballams friends and family through temple ordinances in Spanish and even became a Spanish veil worker. I share all of these wonderful memories with you now to remind us all how grateful we are to family tree and roots tech that the Lord Jesus Christ has made it so simple to to generations of ordinances now that it’s even firefighter proof. I love you brothers and sisters who have built this wonderful, and incredibly awesome network that facilitated the masses to do more work for our honored dead. God bless all of you who are following the spirit even the Holy Ghost and finding and our developing legendary stories that transcend all time. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

My quick look. The pedigree page locks up on 5th or 6th generation and won’t go further. Started after last Roots Tech. I’m still reeling from the changes made on so many lines. I’m not writing to say all are wrong, but I’m wasting so much time fixing wrong branches added into my line. Changes should be made only with permission. Thank you. I know this must be so difficult. So sorry. Susan Lazenby Please thank past & present service workers! It’s so great to suddenly see so many names. I will be sending all I’ve done to the temple and family members because I can’t walk. I check everyday and it seems miracles are happening on the other side of the veil. I also found new places my ancestors resided. How odd that my grand daughter who’s half Tongan and today I can tell her I have my dark skin and almond eyes are from her remote island in the So. Pacific. With great admiration-please pass this thank you note to all Susan Kay Lazenby (Los Angeles Temple District)

Great app. I highly recommend this app. I have been using FamilySearch for a little over two years, and it's helped me trace my ancestry back over 2400 years. It is easy enough for a middle schooler to work- and I would know, being one! The best feature is the "find match", which allows you to enter the names and birth/death dates and places of deceased relatives and looks for names others have entered that look similar. This helps hugely if a distant relative has also been 'genealogizing' and puts their work on your screen. 80% of the time I've spent on FamilySearch Tree has been reading family history that distant relatives entered that I never knew I had! I experienced some issues when I tried to enter names of relatives in manually while in landscape mode, but after shifting it to Pedigree and entering them there everything worked fine. I love this app!

Improved location specificity. Thank you for the improved specificity regarding search by location, which I noticed after the latest update. My 3G grandparents, born in the 1820’s, always listed their birthplace as Württemberg, (Kingdom of Württemberg), which became a Bundesland of Germany when that country unified in the late 19th century, and _eventually_ was merged with Baden, to create the Bundesland of Baden-Württemburg. Previously, I had only been able to search for them in Europe under this most recent “state” name, which made my search area only half as specific as it could have been - frustrating, as I knew for sure that the area of Baden could be eliminated, but there was no way to do so. Their name was not uncommon, so the prospect of being able to narrow the search area down by half is very welcome!

Family Found. This is an amazing way to learn about your ancestors and yourself. The first time I used the tree maker I was able to see my family history and find people that I never knew about. Pioneers, leaders, and other family members who were able to make a difference to the people around them. It has given me inspiration and pride for all the family that has gone before me. My husband and I are working together on our family history and he has shown me how to look for information. The tools provided by Family tree are easy to use and research is becoming easier. My dad did family history and back then it was a lot more difficult. He left me a treasure trove of information and family pictures that I have been blessed to have! They make it so much easier to connect with my family stories! It’s great to see the faces and see the pictures of their lives. The LDS is an excellent source for information. I have been so impressed how they have tried to keep records for future generations. Hopefully someday my grandchildren will be interested in the family history and work we have done with Family Search will be of benefit for them. I have gotten a lot of joy from learning about my family history and still have a long way to go. What an adventure it will be!

Mrs. Shatarreca. I completed several ordinances at the Atlanta Temple Thursday March 2023. I started with the names I only needed one thing completed on. I then went to the names that needed several Ordinances done. I started with the Baptism and Confirmations, moved on to Initiatories and for all that’s not completed I still need to complete Endowments. I did pass it and completed Sealing to parents and or Spouses. In all I did several Ordinances for my maiden name ancestors. I started with a couple of names I had asked my mom for because she love genealogy and I have completed three that’s now listed. I have several more to come that I found on my own. It had my maiden name listed as well as my old address but they’re just not listed as completed as of yet. I asked my coordinator during my Initiatory should I have my names reprinted because I’d updated my name and address. She told me no, I was happy about that because I didn’t want the Temple to use more paper if they didn’t have to. I’m excited and humbled by doing what I did. I’m extremely grateful and thankful I had the opportunity to do what I did yesterday.

Great Way to learn about your Family. I’ve been researching family history a long time and have used the a Familysearch site for many years. The app continues to improve I can do nearly everything from the app that I can do from the site on a laptop or desktop computer and in today’s mobile device driven market that’s amazing. Family history often requires mobility to visit locations for information not found in the amazing vaults of Familysearch, bringing your research with you on a small portable device, and having the ability to add to my research, by uploading photos or documents I find and add them to my ancestors is fantastic and this app instantly allows me to share any and all finds with other interested people. Plus great features to entertain even the reluctant family history learner.

My Family. What a great way to discover your family.

Ken Marsh. Love the tree . I have used ancetory and my heritage but I find family search a better layout.I am having a bit of trouble moveing around but am makeing slow progress.

Family Tree App. It helps me organise my family tree and add sources and memories and photos. It also lets me merge my facts with others and correct facts or correct myself, this is really helpful.

Excellent. Love the new updates and the speed in which I can get work done. Thank for all your support!

Family Tree. I love this app. Wherever Iam I can look at my family tree and all the other things associated with the app. I have recommended this app and have helped family and others in my ward who didn’t have it load it on their phones.

How helpful this app is. This app is really helpful it's told me about a few people that are related to me, and has helped me help my lost long family

Family History made easy. Thankyou for this wonderful app. I love being able to research about my ancestors, and I regularly get information about ancestors I never knew existed.

Family search. This is a great way to start your journey finding new people that your related to but standing upright and having a Baptism for your family I’ve been doing that since I got the Clarity that my mother and father and Grandfather have passed I’ve not met them yet I know they have a opportunity to meet again in the next Life because of the way that they have been given the opportunity for never ending peace in the Name above all Names Jesus Christ is my saviour and my Hearts fulfilled in My Heavenly Father and the Holy Spiritual Kingdom of Jesus Christ Amen thankfulness to all for the good of the app that I am so grateful for 🙏❤️⛪️😀😇📖

Tree changes incorrect. I have just been looking at potential relatives registered for roots tech. I was excited to see descendants of my McDowall family. However I see that several key people have ben changed- they are not correct. Therefore the descendants are not connected to me. I don't look at this tree very often. I will contact the people concerned, but my time is precious and this is a pain. The correct sources in Scotlands People Parish records, backed up by Burkes Colonial Peerage, just for starters, are not difficult to find. Why can anyone make changes without justifying it by any more than a statement that says’incorrect parent’. Sigh.

Frustrated. I feel frustrated I cannot get to see how I have always have seen my Family I want to change the pedigree and just cannot ...I just don’t get it.

Best free family tree app/site. Everything about this is great but struggling to find how to share with other family members so they can add their own memories and information

Family Tree on FamilySearch. Fantastic app that allows you to access your family tree at anytime and anywhere. Can also store photos, documents and share family stories. Information at your fingertips when doing research. Don’t need to lug about binders full of information. Just add it to Gamily Tree.

Thank you. Thank you for your incredible and selfless work on finding our ancestors, love that the Mormon church is so unselfish and kind!!!

Family Tree app. Great app to keep track of all your family from the past and the ordinances we need to perform for them in the future

Know my family way more. Get this now if want to know about you family 10/10

Creating an extended family tree. I found this app absolutely very helpful I enjoy the features and lay out. I keep adding details about my extended family on a frequent basis Thanks so much

Family Search. I am pleased to report that Family Search is a connected cohesive network of information that through its design empowers individuals to identify and act on behalf of ancestors.

Had to delete it. Got fed up by this app constantly hijacking my sessions on safari. It kept trying to open the app when I was working. Hitting the cancel button doesn’t work. Then it would open at your page instead of the person you were working on. I found the app superior for some things like editing the life story but in the end it became too annoying.

Best App ever!. I love this App. I struggled for decades to do any Family History and prepare names for performing temple ordinances and now it’s so easy and fun and my trips to the temple are so much more meaningful to my wife, children and I. Thank you to all those involved in creating and maintaining and supporting this App. ❤️

Family ties. I love the fact I can carry my family history with me in the phone. Especially like the mapping tool; easy to use and clear illustration of where my ancestors all were. I never realised how many Scottish ancestors I had.

Great portability for iPone or iPad. Very useful to have on a mobile device to work on Family History when you are on the move etc.

My files. I use this program almost everyday!

User friendly. I do most of my Family History work on my laptop, but love this phone app because when I’m out and waiting for an appointment etc, I can go to the Tasks section and do some quick tidying up: standardise addresses, add names to photos, etc. I can also add to Memories on my own page, which is something I don’t usually make time for when I’m on my laptop. App offers so much more than I’ve covered here. Great app!

Very good but better with oversight for security. Mistakes happen and errors by self and others are sometimes hard to fix. It’s too easy to link people who by location and patronymic issues are fairly obviously not related. Another issue would be date of birth between generations. You should put up some guard rails or red flags when dates or patronyms or locations differ. And merging should be by oversight approval as well as by approval of interested parties. Having said that it still is a great help to have this app.

Avalon Jayne Fairest 4/9/56. Family Search is very enjoyable and challenging at times, but, the more you use it the better you get at tracing your roots. I recommend & do so to all my family & friends. I know that I have family members who pay for other apps to trace their ancestors but they end up using Family Search. Highly recommend it! The smiles and emotions that I feel towards my ancestors is because I feel as if I now know them. ❤️

Useful App. Great for people starting on their family history search!

Wrong names. I just feel that allowing people to add names to your family tree which you have worked hard to get it correct is driving me crazy and is really upsetting. This man has changed a person in my tree changed part of his name Wife is correct but then has made him coming from America when I know he is totally English then has inserted all of his American family to that tree AND done temple work. To change so many people and edit will take me weeks of hard work you have to stop this from happening If I could do Temple work through another site I would happily not use Family Search at all

Unknown. It is a little confusing, but once you know how to use it it’s a breeze. Love learning about my ancestors!!!

Be Careful. People can modify or delete data or people without any evidence,, this should not be allowed to happen,, if data is entered or changed, it should be that birth, death or some kind of official document is referred to before the change is Allowed,,! When a change is made and a chat request/question is made to the individual that made the change, most times there is no response! The technical support dept,, is totally, totally useless,, when clearly showing an error in software, or software update it take months and many emails for them to grasp simple explications,, very thick yes its free,, but be careful of the results

Incorrect record by someone or system. I tried to recorrect person’s name, dob and dod on record as system refuse to amend , it is harder to recorrect. Because someone put wrong parents name of child . I am direct descendants of deceased great grandparents . Thank you .

Accessibility:. I love the fact that when travelling, I can use this app to continue family history research, attach sources to my family tree and also take my phone to the temple to print ordinances. It’s been invaluable. Having this app has enabled me to do more family history because of its portability, even when at the doctors or other places that I would normally waste valuable time. It now gives me greater opportunity to be family history productive:)

Kathryn. Have tried to log into family search to search without success. The account will not accept my password. Very disappointed

Brooks family.. Have found my great grandparents on my grandfathers side but that’s as far as Incan find unless I have the information to add? If I knew that I would not have to search? That is the reason I am looking. Yours truely John

Thank you. I am so grateful for this app!!!! It allows me to easily show others my family trees!!! And talking about my ancestors with my family brings tears to my eyes

Famous people. Wow , I was gob smacked by my new found , never known , relatives from bygone days ! It’s a bit of fun to find out more each time I tune in to Family Search . Thankyou to everyone behind the scenes who makes this all happen ,as well as the search tools and suggestions for new tree information. Karen Leuders Australia 🙋‍♀️

Mr. Walter Alvarez. Fascinated by the life’s of others than went before me, spanning many continents like I have done. I know enough about the life’s and names of my recent forefathers to realise they this is all proved and genuinely and lovely researched. Thanking you very much to all the people that pitched in, someone’s perfectly unknown, and some not so much!

Russell -Wade Family. Amazing....hours and hours of time adding family and checking, so grateful to have had the opportunity to search and find family members around the globe. Thankyou so much🌻

I just love it!. A great resource that I can easily use to research my family history!

Jillian. I would like to be able to use as a spreadsheet, however doesn’t seem to be an option! Is this possible?

Amazing provision. I love Family Search as it links things up really well. Myheritage n Ancestry kept asking for more money. Only complaint (generally-across many of the genealogy sites) is the lack of information for South African information plus the newspaper data.

Myfamily. I love doing family history it is so interesting what you can come up with I have gone far back as early as 1700s I have also found graves of my ancestors I found one today 26 may 2020 it had a wrong name on it according to the print out that the council gave me so I have to get it fixed up it is my great grand mother Anne banfield

Ancestries on the go. The FamilySearch app allows on the spot updating of family tree information wherever you like. The only issue I have ever had with it is that being a public app other people can alter records without supply of supporting documentation.

Easy Access. Having the phone App is a quick and easy way to do my family history and I really enjoy the features available .

This is my favourite. I absolutely love this it took me a while to learn and still learning but it’s the absolute best of all

Privacy settings need improvement. I have raised this issue with your Help Desk and still nothing has changed. Family Search needs to include security on people’s family tree so that other people who are not from my family tree/line cannot make any changes to my family. We have had a number of issues with people who are not related, just members of the church, sealing the wrong people, changing dates and locations. This is ridiculous and needs to stop! Enough is enough. Fix family search so that I can protect my family from other “well meaning” Mormons who feel they know my family more than I do.

A Great Incentive to Pursue Family History. I have recently joined, and am amazed at the wealth of information I can easily record, and the treasure chest of linked family history which has already been recorded by others. Thank you!

Problems with the ‘Famous Relatives’ activity.. About a month ago, I clicked on the Famous Relatives activity and found out I was related to Abraham Lincoln and a few other famous people. I clicked on it today and it said I have no famous relatives. I don’t know if it’s a glitch or something but it’s annoying. Please fix it. I usually like using this app for family research but this is putting me off.

Wonderful app. This is great app to use and I highly recommend it to everybody. You won’t be disappointed.

Family Tree. I have merged two People as I found that my grandfather was already in Family Search. However when I merged the two so that there wasn’t a duplication, I can’t seem to be able to enter the original person into my family tree. I have tried to do so in several ways. It means I can’t progress my tree.

Stewart family tree. I have been researching my family this past year during the lock down it has saved my sanity I’ve throughly enjoyed doing it

Workability. I had booked an appointment at the temple and had a certain name, my mothers great aunt, that I wanted to take to the temple. My plan was to go home from work, change, grab my temple bag with that name and go to my appointment. I got tied up at work and had just enough time to drive across town straight to the temple and skip going home. The temple workers were gracious about me wearing dress pants, but I was disappointed that I wouldn’t be able to do my mother‘s great aunt’s work, until I remembered this app. I pulled it up, clicked on Temple, chose my ordinance and was able to pull up a QR code for my mother‘s great aunt. The temple office printed it off and I did the ordinance. I was quite struck with how the Lord and the church have made doing God’s work workable in an unworkable world. truly miraculous!

Family search. I love the updates, new information but I love seeing the ordinances performed, wish I knew the total ordinances that I’ve enjoyed having done

Deleted my info. I did love it but my whole lineage got deleted after i spent hours getting it in.

Glitchy, errors attaching family members, multiple duplicates and errors. I like the concept and I have been using this app quite a bit, but it is very glitchy. Whenever I try to correct something it says there is an error, sometimes if I go back it does end up correcting it, other times it doesn’t no matter how many times I restart. It does a bad job of finding duplicate people, you may go to a record and find that person has 4 spouses with variations of the same name. People will also connect anyone with the name Joe Smith to a record. Joe Smith born in 1850 can have 25 children born in 1768 and 17 wives when he wasn’t even born, there needs to be some sort of AI or computer that can recognize this better. I wish pictures of records would open in the app instead of the website. Also any time you search the historical records, if you click the wrong “back” button you exit out of the search and lose everything. They need better integration between the app and the record search function of their website. It’s a fun, free and interesting app for sure, but you really need to fact check any information before you think your second cousin is Elvis Prestley.

Great App!. I was able to find information and documents about my grandmother whom I’ve never met. I was able to trace her line back to my 13th great grandmother who happens to be Queen Mary I of Scotland !!! So cool!

Frustration. Missing records. I have a relative that I have been able to access information through Scotland People records. Yet on ancestry these records do not exist. I have his parents names and again nothing. Very frustrating.

Fantastic app!. Was reccomended by a Mormon family member and they KNOW what the best site is! Love love love the connections I’ve been able to make in growing my tree!

Roxanne (Rocky). FamilySearch has given me a feeling of being more complete knowing where I come from and how versatile my family is. Thank you.

Sign in troubles. Worst app ever! It kept asking me to login like it was Fort Knox! Could never get past the

Life-Changing. There are few things as sweet as learning about and getting to know my own roots. This app makes that possible daily.

Family saving opportunities. I love family search.. it makes taking names to the Temple a lot more easily accessible and I get so excited to be able to take them and get them done

how do you add a divorce. my mum and dad never got married + my grandma and grandpa divorced is there a possible divorce/breakup option gng 😭🙏

Great genealogy tool, interface needs work. I use FamilySearch all the time and it’s become my first go to for record keeping . I greatly appreciate the tool. I just wish they would do some quality control and user experience adjustments to make it easier, reduce the number of unnecessary clicks, fix bugs people just put up with because there’s no feedback tool and eliminate some of the legacy programming items that are outdated. This app applies to the app and browser.

App Doesn’t Have Enough Data. There’s not enough data covering south Asian and East Asian families. We know for a fact we have thousands of years worth of history but there is barely any data from FamilySearch.

Great App. Really easy to use Relative Finder

Can’t look without an account. This app will make you sign up for an account before you find what ur looking for and It WONT let me make a stupid account

Difficult. I find this very difficult to navigate. I usually do not have these problems, but with this site, I definitely do. It’s very confusing. I’m trying to find family trees that are already built and my own family tree. I’m not sure why they are not all added together when someone contributes.

Can’t add grandparents. My mom was adopted and doesn’t know anything about her biological family, could you make any possible way for it to just look into my father’s background?

The Beat Genealogy Site Ever. I came here a number of years ago because I got sick and tired of paying Ancestry and others to access family history information that I personally had entered, that they commercialized and then so graciously offered to sell back to me.

Wrong information. A whole family is attached to me that are not my relatives. Also, a person related to my relative added a picture of their relative from her family which is not my relatives. How is is happening?

Optional Reswrvations. Could we get the ability to only reserve the ordinances we need, please?

Nah. There's no information about Chile, only for North America.

Awesome. I enjoy this app because I can see how many people I’m related to

Good app but please stop asking me to update. I like the app a lot, better than familysearch.com. But whenever I open the app or another tab within it it tells me to update, but when I go to the App Store to update it doesn’t let me, so Please stop asking me to update if you wont Let me.

Was perfect until it started prompting me to update. This app was excellent, so good, until, for one reason or another it just decided to prompt me to upgrade EVERY TIME I leave and rejoin the app, I can’t even go to another app for a SECOND without it telling me to upgrade.

Wow!. I am related to the Viking conqueror Rollo and his wife Poppa. My family line went back to 20 B.C. Crazy!

Great!. I love this App! There are no more updates for my iPad gen 5 now.

Overall a decent App. It’s not the easiest app to get to know, and there isn’t much for tutorials. You kind of have to figure it out for yourself. However the features that you get on the free version are definitely respectable! So 4 ⭐️‘s is what I give this app!

One Gigantic Family. I’m so pleased with the wonderful resources available for research and the ordinance ready program. Although there can be mistakes made by various contributors I think the positives outweigh any negatives. More and more is being added daily. There are little miracles happening all the time!

Couldn’t open a account. I tried to open account with Gmail, username,Facebook everything. It just wouldn’t work

Great!. Always helpful in locating names and easy, even for a non-genealogy person! Thanks!

horrible. It is the 21st century, 2020 and it will not let you use same sex couples. Shameful

Family Archives. As I age, much of what I hold dear are memories! I hope to pass some of these precious moments to my children, on which they can continue to build. Whether or not they continue with, what to me has become a passion, will be entirely up to them. I hope they do!

Good, but. We should be able to see the complete tree with the siblings of each person.

It’s ok. It’s fine but when I add my siblings it doesn’t appear on the tree…

Difficult to navigate. I find it difficult to navigate the website

Absolutely amazing. I had family for my paternal grandfather but nothing for my paternal grandmother and the same for my maternal side now I know more about my maternal grandmother. I couldn’t believe it, I put my name and my mother and father then boom all these ancestors were there. Thank you thank you. I’m trying to find my oldest cousine on my moms side and we don’t even have a birthdate or death date, how do I go about finding this? Thank you

Can’t see information. I’ve been trying to see results of my famous relatives for the last week and the pages will not open.

Useless. I put in my information and so on with my family members and nothing was shown for anything, not a single link or person came up.

Interesting!. Great app! I am learning so much about who my ancestors were!

Hands down….. The best genealogy site out there!

COMPLETED ORDINANCES Search for most recent first please. Please correct sorting feature so most recently completed show first and/or please add a search bar on completed ordinances. Thanks!!

Connecting with God and loved ones. This app has helped me to better connect with my family. I now see my ancestors as real people and not just names and dates. I feel like I have an army of family protecting me and that is here for me. It makes taking names to the temple so easy and accessible with ordinances ready. I love the memories feature because I’m a big visual person and picture documents are huge when it comes to learning about who someone was and the life they lived. Service is so easy to do on this app; in so many different ways. 11/10, would recommend!

Unable to sign in. I have been struggling for months now to sign into my account. No one has been able to help me. I have called Family Search Support and still nothing. I’m very frustrated and disappointed.

Best app for family search. I love this App. I can connect (with mutual permission) with family I have never met. As we all do our research our tree grows together. Thank you for this.

Family connection. Family Search is the best program in the whole world to find our ancestors and connect them to our family tree

Unable to update. I haven’t been able to use this app for quite some time now because I get a pop up stating I gave to update the app. When I try updating it there IS no update, I can only open the app but when I do that, the same message appears stating there is an update. It’s maddening.

Family history. I love that family history is at my fingertips❤️

Choose Ordinaces. I enjoy using this platform. My only suggestion would be to let each individual choose what ordinances they want to reserve instead of selecting all of them every time.

Full of Errors. Very messy to navigate and full of errors. Since this is a public collaboration, people input false ancestors which can’t be removed when you’re trying to clean up your own tree. It’s very frustrating to spend hours correcting it, only to go back and the errors are back. Take things you find here with a grain of salt.

Family Seach Activities. Family Search is interactive and interesting to find things that you never knew about your ancestors. It has kid friendly activities that everyone can enjoy like: Seeing on a map where your ancestors were born, if they moved somewhere that shows up too, also it shows where they died and where buried. Another activity is Relatives Around Me, you can scan for people. If they have family search and are scanning for friends around them at the same time. After it is done scanning, it will show you if anyone was also scanning for friends if anyone was and if they were within 100 feet you can see how you are related, which might be cool to see.

Finding my family from knowing basically nothing. I knew about my moms side but very little I knew my great great grandma had come over from Poland but not much after that I was told to get the app from my boyfriend’s mother who also knew very little about her family and ancestors as well my brith father isn’t in my life so his side was always a mystery I’m now figuring and finding my family history out on both sides and I’m crying with happiness my whole life I didn’t know anything about my dads side I need to figure out his mothers name and heritage but 8m so glad to see I’m 100% German on his fathers side thank you for this free amazing app!!!

Should not let anyone just post. I encountered over two hours of mistakes on my family tree. And I’m not done yet. I had a man added to my moms siblings who is definitely not even a relative. My moms sister is listed as deceased since 2012 and she’s very much alive. A middle name was added to my grandfather who only had an initial because of the war draft. His first name was spelled wrong as well as my grandmothers first name. I can go on but this is the worst site I’ve ever been on and I do not appreciate just having anyone adding to my family tree. I as well as some of my relatives spent a lot of time and hard work creating out tree and then to find this site and it is a mess!! You clearly do not understand the importance of genealogy. We do this for future generations and can you imagine how confusing they would be if they saw your website? I’m very unhappy!!!

This is great. I found my roots!. Please take the time to look your people up. The more I read, the more understood myself. I found personalities and characteristics of my ancestors that made me laugh, cry and appreciate who I am. There are gems all over the place. I never knew. I’m not a employee or affiliated with with this company. I am a Mormon, but not active in the church. I was hesitant to sign up… glad I did. Their not going to tell you, but the church has the most extensive database in the world. When it comes genealogical research, trust them. They are solid and honest. You’ll be surprised how much you learn about yourself.

I love FamilySearch!. I like to do memories on FamilySearch but I don’t like it that there is a time limit on the audios. I like to talk a lot and 5 minutes isn’t very much time. I also wish that people could see my posts about my pictures because they aren’t allowed to see it until I have died and then I won’t be able to reply to their comments. But I like changing the colors on the pedigree, and I love doing comments and messages because I’m not old enough to do it on social media. I am going to go to the temple next month if it is open by then because I am turning twelve next year and this will be a big help! I love FamilySearch because it is awesome like me!

Family Search answer to prayer. After asking lots of questions about family, identifying people and scanning hundreds of pictures, I tried to figure out what the best plan could be to share them. Making scrapbooks or online books couldn't reach all family members so I signed up for Family Search. I love how it’s so easy to upload pictures, identify each individual and write something about them. I am actually sharing with whoever is interested and I am moving forward, uploading a picture or two when I have a spare minute. It is user friendly especially for me!

Interesting discovery. Thank you for such an revealing almost accurate ancestors app. I never knew my grandfather wife’s family name or that my grandfather ( my Dad’s dad) had so many siblings. The most interesting facts was to discover that twins run in our family. From the information that I was able to gather I’m going to try and connect with family - extended family on my Dad’s side. Thank you so much —- why did I say ALMOST because my Dad’s information was totally missing —- his wife’s name and all his children ( smile). This research and the information your ancestry app supplied will assist me greatly. Again THANK YOU Phyllis L Garrison-Hallman

Finding Relatives. Thank you to everyone who keeps this free and up to date. Through this program and whoever does the research on your end, I have been able to trace my family history clear back to the 17 th Century. The information your program provides is very easy to explore and the information I have garnered is way above anything I could have imagined. Thank You to everyone who has any position in this program for being so diligent in amassing this information for people like me to utilize in putting together a Family History. I very highly recommend this site to anyone putting together a Family Tree.

Fast & convenient!. I love FamilySearch’s mobile Family Tree app! I’m amazed at the frequency with which I refer to my Family Tree app. We have 16 grandchildren and quite often I need info regarding birthdays and anniversary dates. FamilyTree mobile app makes it so fast & convenient for me while I’m shopping to check dates and ages. Quite often in conversations with other family members we forget names & places of our ancestors’ stories and Family Tree helps us get it straight. It’s fun to look at our family history together and compare pictures of our children with those of our ancestors. Sharing stories from their lives always touches our hearts and brings those of us still here, closer together.

Give patrons back ability to reserve names!. Please return my online ability to reserve names and thus do temple work for people in same little Swiss location with same last name as my direct ancestors! I spend a lot of time translating ( and editing) the French parish records from 1600’s and then carefully document the sources but can no longer reserve their names so my family can do temple ordinances for these “ cousins.”They are probably all related somehow, but because records are so old, difficult to decipher, and often sparse, connections for these “clusters”can’t be made yet to my direct line. Please don’t delay their opportunity to accept the gospel and also remove the enjoyment of making a meaningful family history contribution, culminating in temple ordinances being done!

Considerations. I love genealogy & that this site is available. It is disconcerting to discover that years of work can be changed with whim by whomever likes. Example, I called SLC headquarters regarding such a change to my records. Finally, I spoke to a gentlemen who said, “Well, your work is wrong.” Why? I know of these people & have family bible records. He replied that simple numbers are off. I explained that my gg grandfather was killed at the first battle of Manasseh, leaving his wife Nancy Elizabeth Walker Keen(e) a pregnant widow with 4 other young children to be passed around by family. She had two more babies well after David Myer Keen’s death. She gave them the Keen family name. I won’t go on. It was a mess.

Has issues. I was enjoying this app, however as of recently my previous relationship with someone will show me where they are in my tree, Now it says we’re not even related!! I have been doing ALOT of research on my family’s history and taking screen shots of my “important” ancestors, I have been reluctantly taking notes, studying my background and now your app says I’m not related to anyone??!!!! I hope this is a bug from the last update, otherwise this is seriously a huge issue! I have sent a message to support without a response so hopefully they can explain what is going on! Now looking at my ancestors that I assumed (because of this site) we were related now it feels like a big lie! This is super irritating when you’re trying to find out where your lineages come from. Now I guess I’m back to the beginning (no answers) 😒

This app is awesome.. If you’re planning on doing genealogy work, it is possible through this app! Best to do it on their website though. It’s such a cool feature to be able to search for ancestors around you if they have the app open as well, we used this website in one of my classes in high school and it’s amazing how many people you’re distantly related to. Would recommend getting this app. If you don’t have a ton of genealogy work done yet, make a couple of phone calls and add in some of your great grandparents, the app automatically searches for matching documents and you can link up to the rest of your existing tree. It’s awesome.

Tools and Features of Family Tree App. The tools and features of the Family Tree App communicate so effectively with the FamilySearch database and with me. I am very experienced as a genealogist and temple patron, but I continue to be amazed at how the software has advanced. As an example, my wife is visiting Hawaii with some other sisters and I equipped her with eight female family names for endowment, as I knew that they intended to go to the Laie Temple. This afternoon, I received a message from FamilyTree, listing the seven ancestors that just had their endowment done at the Laie Temple. This was very exciting and now I will review the families that are ready for the sealing ordinance, when my wife returns from Hawaii!

Innovative App with Enduring Impact!. Family Search is revolutionary in terms of its extraordinary reach! The technology available to help users connect with family in meaningful ways is exemplary! I just completed temple work for my 3rd cousin [6] times removed. It represents the first time I was able to do work for my ancestors! Coming from a multigenerational LDS family, most of the temple work had been completed. I thought I would never know the feeling of taking my deceased ancestors to The House of the Lord! I now know that feeling and I have the innovators of Family Search to thank for it! Thank you for your persistent effort to connect families in deeply meaningful ways! You have my enduring gratitude!

Records. I love Family Tree! I still prefer working on my computer instead of my phone, because it’s hard to get the whole picture when you can’t see the whole family at the same time. I don’t think it’s a good idea to attach records from the app because you can’t always see enough to be sure and it’s more time consuming to go back and forth to different screens to check things out. I’ve found a lot of records attached to the wrong people and I just wonder if they weren’t done on a phone. Thank you for working constantly to improve this wonderful work. 😊

Great but needs improvement. First, there appears to be a bug when reviewing attachments. I’m not always able to click and drag family members to various parts of a person’s record. For example, when attaching a source record to my grandfather’s record, I can’t click and drag my grandmother and their children to the record. Second, I’d really like to be able to create a new person when finding them in historical record searches. Instead, I have to separately create a new person - then find the record again - before adding their details to my tree. Thanks for reading this, I really hope that someone looks into it!

Life changing app!!. This app is amazing! I have found stories and have learned things about my ancestors and relatives that help me relate to life's challenges a little bit better. When I read that one of my ancestors went through something hard, I felt like I could too. When I see pictures of my ancestors, I can see resemblances in my own family and helps me feel connected to something much bigger. It is exciting when you find a match and learn something about your family that you never knew. Hard things, inspiring things, sad things… all the things. I learn from them all!! Definitely recommend this app!

Missionary Tool. I really like to use the ‘relatives around me’ feature. I use it all the time! It would be an incredible missionary and gathering tool if it were possible to have the ability to invite someone to download the app and see how we’re related. I have attempted to do this with new friends and sometimes strangers that I have just met who show interests in family history but haven’t successfully been able to have them download the app and have access to the features without having a membership record number. Is something like that possible? If do it would be an amazing missionary tool!

Worst Genealogy App Ever. While Family Search has one of the finest selections of documents available they have destroyed the family tree function by mandating collaboration. Most beginner and hobbiest genealogists have no idea what an accurate source is. As a result they add incorrect people to the tree without accurate data. They add everything they see on the internet with no regard to sourcing of the data. Family Search ruined my Family Tree. I spend more time correcting other people making stupid changes to what had been MY tree and no time researching. I admit I have several lines with published bad data online from previous researchers, but most families do. I don’t want idiots taking that bad data and adding it to my tree. Don’t use this app unless you want some idiot ruining your tree too. By all means use the five star Family Search database. But if you use this app expect idiots to constantly ****-up your family tree.

Temple Work (Gathering of Israel), Made Easier. I happen to be descended from pioneer stock and most of my ancestors have been found and the temple work done. I live near a temple and am blessed to be able to go there several times a week. So I am grateful for this app that gives me ordinances for distant relatives that need completing. I hope that my cousins for whom getting the actual ordinances completed is difficult for whatever reason can find the people who need the ordinances and I can do the actual temple work can continue to make a great team. Thank you Family Tree for what you do. I love it!

A Wonderful Way to Connect with Family. I love this website and I love the app. It is wonderfully and beautifully designed to help you find your ancestors! You can figure out what information is missing from their profiles, and find people to take to the temple. Each person shows what ordinances they have completed and which need to be done. You can also find and read documents about your family and learn more about them. I love this app and website and appreciate it so much. It’s also 100% free!!! I wish you luck in finding your family!

Awesome!. I really like how you can see all your ancestors memories and all their ordinances! My family made and illustrated a book about some of our close ancestors and used the memories on there! It’s very organized and a great way to find your family and some names to take to the temple! One thing I don’t get though is I have all of my moms side and none of my dads side. I know that the records exist for my dads side because he does family names with my mom and his siblings but it doesn’t show up on mine. It’s fine, I’ll probably find out how to some day but for now I’m still enjoying everything I can get!

Gathering Israel. This program is so vast and marvelous. Thank you to each person who has worked many decades on this grand and inspired system so each of us can be privileged to gather our ancestors into God’s Kingdom. In the late sixties I took a genealogy class from Brother Bloxham at BYU. Many times he would be so excited about the future use of computer programs that would bless this sacred work. I couldn’t imagine it, since I was a student employee in the Administration building and saw the “computer” in the basement that almost took the whole floor. Now we hold this sacred work on the tiny computer in our hands. “The Lord’s hand is stretch out still” and with the closing of all temples tomorrow — this gathering of “ dear ancestors” will be ready receive their saving ordinances when the temples open and the work continues to press forward in the work of the Lord. My sincere and thankful gratitude can not be spoken deep enough. Muchicimous Gracias—Sister Marilee Barton Clark Hurrah for Israel!!!

A Welcome Surprise!. FamilySearch voluntarily sent me info regarding the possibility that I may be related to certain historical people. They included the generational path to those people and what the relationship was … usually about 7th Cousin 12x Removed! The point is, they take the people in your tree and do the heavy work of making the connection! Once I had the info, I traced it back thru my tree… and there they were! So, it is genuine, legitimate and a whole lot of fun! I can’t thank FamilySearch and LDS enough for all that they do for the genealogy community and for the historical record keeping they manage! Wow!

Not responsive and disconnects you from family tree. I thought this would be cool to look at and get more information. I have a lot of records from my grandmother. When I started connecting to family I discovered they have my father listed as deceased by a person I don’t even know. My father is very much alive. I sent a message to have it changed asking what they needed from me to show that and asking who said he was dead. I didn’t hear anything. About 2 weeks later I sent in another notes stilled didn’t hear anything. Last night I check and all of my family members above me in the tree have been removed. So I went back out to find my parents and it still has him listed as deceased and it won’t let me add either of my parents to my tree. Makes one wonder why that happened and how you can get things changed. This was after over a month.

Loving Family Tree!! ❤️. I just found Family Tree last week, absolutely amazing!! I've always been into my roots and family history, this has taken me to a whole new level!! So cool and so much great information!! I knew my parents families came together in marriage 100 years ago, now I found the proof!! No, my parents were not related prior to marriage!! There was alway a family debate as to my great grandmothers true name, Family Tree cleared that up with the census reports prior to 1900!! And yes mom was right, it was Edith Alta!! I can't express my gratitude enough, no words can say what joy this has brought to my soul!! Forever grateful!!

Many blessed thanks. 🙏🏻. I have learned more about my lineage in one year from Family Tree and all of its affiliated researchers and contributors than my family has in decades. It has put my life as a military historian and counter-terror operative into superb focus and context. Now I can look back over two millennia to see the ancestors who carved a similar path through history. I can now look forward with a sense of calm pride that one day I will take my place among them with my head held high and the fears born of my torturous past exorcised finally from my heart. Thank you. Robin D Townsend CR-4, ONI/NSWC (ret.) Central Ward, Layton, Utah

Family Tree App. I love this app! It really is what makes it possible for me to learn more about my family and do family history work. It brings me so much joy to be able to do family history work, and I can feel love from my ancestors and Heavenly Father when I’m serving my family on the other side of the veil. I love how I can get my own family names to take to the temple. Even though it can be a little confusing at times, all of these amazing things wouldn’t be possible without this app! I just cannot express how grateful I am for it, and I wish everyone had the blessing of having it, too!

Review. I have enjoyed finding my ancestors and learning about them. It has been an amazing journey to learn about them. Then to find how well they are documented books written on them. The History they were part of . The life Sketches noted down . I feel I am the luckiest person to learn these things. Following both my Mother’s Stone Linage and my Fathers Applegate line has meant the world to me . I now have a better understanding of who they were and my pedigree . I am in awe! I can sit for hours on end doing these family tasks and learning their stories. I am a natural born analyst and worked as one for 23 years. So, doing this is perfect for me. I just love it ! SandenaLee

App. The App doesn’t match the website and is much more difficult to use for research. Please allow us a search tab from a particular ancestor so we don’t have to type in the name in Search Historical Records, or provide a tutorial. (This was already here. Did I write that previously?) So now, under Take to the Temple, I’d like the ordinance to change color once it’s been printed so when I come back to print another ordinance before the first one has been done, I don’t reprint. As I do more research, I find ordinances that haven’t been done, and it would be simpler if I didn’t have decide which had already been printed. Thanks so much!!

Exciting discovery!. Just the other morning I got a message from family search that I may have a Mayflower ancestor. That caught my attention and interest and I logged into my account to see what I could find. I went to find ancestor’s and it took me to my ancestor. My ancestor was a famous pilgrim and one that I had read about a few months ago not knowing then that I was one of the millions of his posterity! I have spent hours now reading many of the memories that are attached to him. This Thanksgiving will mean a lot more to me knowing I have much to be grateful for. My 10th great Grandparents, John and Elizabeth Howland. Both who were among those first courageous Mayflower Pilgrims. Thank you Family Search !

Learning so much!. I have had a membership with Family Search for quite a while but have just really begun digging into it this summer. I have the app on my phone and tablet and am now receiving messages to inform me about important dates and events in the lives of my ancestors. There isn’t a day that passes that I don’t use it. I recently received info about ancestors who were pioneers traveling west during the 1800’s. I’ve been able to see photographs and read registries and logs written by members of the party. I would never have known anything about these ancestors. It’s so interesting! Thank you so much!

So easy to use!. I don’t even know all of my families information, but within a few dedicated hours, I was able to trace my family tree all the way back to 290 BC! It’s amazing what you can find out with just a few clicks and search engine finds. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested in learning more about your family tree! Only thing I wish there was an improvement on is seeing connections between cousins. I’ve been told some things from family members in the past related to cousins and I haven’t been able to delve deeper into it on here, YET.

Best app ever!!. The Family Tree app is my favorite! It allows me so much ease in doing my family history. It brings all of the information together and allows me to take it with me wherever I go so I may continually work on my family no matter where I am. The only con I can think of is at times I would like to be able to look at the documents so I can truly verify the information and see it for myself, however I can always go on my computer if I need to see the documents. I love the ease in which I can take the names to do the work for my ancestors. Thank you for creating this app to further the work.

I personally think this is the best app for genealogy but…. Recently the App has been doing something strange, when you go to, say, add a child with an ID number or anything else where that same box pops up for you to put the ID it will not let you put an id, you have to go to the website to do it because something is messed up in the app. Maybe it’s just me? Maybe it’s that I’m on iPad os 17? There’s been a couple updates since this started and it hasn’t been fixed. It’s annoying and I hope it gets fixed soon because this is the easiest app to attach sources and see relationships.

So Helpful and Enjoyable. Using this app has been helpful and enjoyable. I can see my family tree in a variety of ways and see source helps from others too. I enjoy the extra fun ways to connect with family by relatives around me, seeing the map of where my ancestors came from and the histories we can share with one another to know our common ancestors better. Another feature that has been fun and helped us connect to ancestors is the feature where we did a face comparison to our ancestors and to see our similar looks. Our children enjoyed that.

Family I have always wondered about!. My mother came from pioneer family, yet she was a convert to the church. Not knowing or understanding what happened that she didn’t have the gospel in her life. As I have been able to read of family members, it has brought an understand and joy for these loved ones. My mother too has been excited to read and learn of these wonderful pioneers. Thank you for sharing. I only wish I could meet some of the family today. I am grateful they have been willing to share what they have. I love our family and am grateful they endured so many hardships for the rest of us yet to come to Earth.

Life Sketch & Notes. I only started Family Tree about a year ago, I really enjoy the stories about my relatives who have gone on & I feel now I know them and feel so close to them. The stories @ pictures, makes me feel so close even though I never knew them especially 5-8 generations & how brave they were to come to America & all the hard it must have been for them & the stories of how they struggled to make a new life thru the wars & diseases that they all endured but continued on thru the centuries. I love to work on finding out about new discovery’s every day. I get started & can’t quit!!😊 Bitygirl bitigirl

Amazing!. I’ve found so much rich information that I never knew my whole life ! Now I now a lot more about where I came from. Some of my lineage isn’t traced back too far only to 1800s , some lines go back to 900 and beyond! This app is so amazing and has changed my life! I feel so much more connected to my ancestors now and so grateful this app exists. I wish I knew about this ten years ago . Now I have so many sites to visit and before I never knew my connection to certain lands. This work is so rewarding. Thank you! I feel more connected to my roots now.

Family Search facilitates the study of History. I use Family Search daily in many ways, on a daily basis. Lately, for example, as I read history, I search on internet for information of historic figures, and then use Family Search “Find a Person” to see how I am related to them. This has made my study of history much more attractive and meaningful. As Jim Sorensen (SMGF) told me many years ago “the more you learn about genealogy, the more you realize that we’re a lot more related to other people than we think we are.” He was absolutely right.

My love for the temple and family history work. I have been doing family history for almost 65 years and I am so thrilled with what I am able to do on line and at the temple! Years ago it was hard to find another name as I am pioneer heritage on 4+ lines! I am now able to find names every time I go to the temple of relatives! I am very careful to only take names of my line or my husbands line! Thank you for all the wonderful work you to connect as for eternity with those we love! This is a wonderful work and I can feel God’s hand in it! Sincerely Sister Starkey, Seattle temple worker and patron!

Give Back My Old Tree. I am not a fan of the Family Search app. Before downloading the app I could control whether my tree display was portrait or landscape. This made it so much easier to add people, and to see the family progression, The whole process of verifying ancestors was easier. Also with the app, If I mistakenly add the wrong person to my tree I can't find a way to delete them. I have considered deleting the app, in hope that all of my records would still be available on the website. But I am afraid that all of my information would be gone and I'd have to start over.

Praising Family Search. Thanks to Family Search for the reminder about four ancestor’s initiatories that would expire soon. I am far away from home helping a single mother daughter with two young sons and unable to get to a temple. I called another daughter in my hometown yesterday to explain that the initiatories were printed out & in a folder on my computer desk at home. She picked them up, took them to the temple and completed the work the next day. She said both she and a sister performing the initiatory for one of our ancestors felt the person’s presence. My daughter said she since Beth Day and Simister had been waiting a long time where the ordinance. Right away Family Search sent me a message saying the work had been completed.

Joy of family.. Family tree information has enriched my life. I’ve learned many things that I did not know about my family. It has provided an opportunity to understand why so much of the information on the individual families was seldom spoken about. Many of us are from Kentucky, And I did not live in Kentucky after I became five. Family tree has given me the opportunity to understand and to try to contact other members of family tree. I’ve just finished a few days enjoying onLine the roots tech program. I look forward to revisiting what I saved but my understanding will increase. Thank you family history Grma

Best App Ever. I love this app to keep track of my family tree and ancestry. One of my favorite features is Relatives Around Me. If you have others near you that use this app, you can see how you are related. I am amazed at how so many people are my cousins. At least in my area I am cousins to more than half of the people I try this with. It does require that those people are connected into the public family tree of FamilySearch to do this. This doesn’t work with the private trees of like Ancestry, it only works with the single public tree of FamilySearch. This is truly amazing and you realize you have living family all around you. Pretty awesome.

I belong. Growing up I was on my own.... a lot. As the saying goes you don't know who you are until you know where you came from. I happen to be a descendent of Vikings, Emperors, Kings, Knights, Lords, Ladies, Queens, Princesses, Pilgrims, Sailors, Soldiers, Founding Fathers, Presidents, Movie Stars, Actors, Inventors, Indigenous Healers, Conquistadors, Farmers, Governors, Doctors, Lawyers, Chefs, and more. I used to feel like I was alone and less than. After researching and reading and speaking and writing, I may only be half the person my ancestors were but that's more than I thought. I am so grateful to have this tool and I hope if you're reading this we connect somewhere along the way.

Long family History. I was able to trace my dad’s family to almost the beginning. It went back to Ancient Rome and my dad and his family all found out together because I had never taken a certain path on the tree and in trying to find a specific person, I went further than I had previously gone. Someone on my dad’s side had already put in hour and months of research to find all the information but we don’t know who. Just loved finding out about myself and seeing that my ancestry dna matches up with my family history

Always a great experience!. Family Search is a fantastic tool! I tell SO many people about it and use it on a daily basis. I’ve have friends set up accounts right away, and they and are so grateful for the access to family information as well as the opportunity to learn and add more to this BIG collaborative family tree ❤️ some just prefer that I help them and that works great too! Feedback from the technical team is always helpful. New things are coming out all the time to make it more up to date and easier to use. Thank you so much Family Search!!!

Good but could be better. I love doing family history but the main problem is that things keep getting erased from my tree that me and my grandma have put in many many times. My aunts husband and kids aren’t on the tree even though they should be. Although this is my only complaint every thing else is perfect. The way I can find out where my ancestors came from and how to connect to them better then ever. I am so very grateful for this opportunity to connect to my family but also show what I find to my family. I do have one question can you add a second family for example my dad was adopted but we don’t know much how can I find sources for them?
